How good is progress? Chip chip chip away.

My watch went a bit haywire at the beginning, missed the start apparently, and the entire run whenever I looked it kept showing inaccurate splits. At one point it said 6:15 but clearly none of them were. It made me push because I thought I was running behind pace 😤 So bizarre. That’s Apple for you lol. 1st June 2024: the journey continues!

Over 6 months have passed since my last blog, but today feels a good day to finally start writing again! The sun is shining, and I'm sitting in the grass overlooking a pretty lake... (where am I?!? 🙃)

Most importantly, today it's been exactly a year that I drove out of my home in Burlington, hitting the road on a new journey!

Many things happened in the last year; the remaining of 2023 as I had planned, and then the last few months deviated from plan but in a good way. I'm kind of in between lives at the moment, which is surprisingly more comfortable than I had thought, although hopefully soon I will actually be able to move forward! Please everyone, cross your fingers for me. 🤞🤞🤞

As I wrote in my last blog, I left Toronto at the end of September last year to spend 4 months in Europe(ish) with I family and friends. After that amazing cross-Canada road trip, I was ready to calm down a bit!

I'll try to write a few more blogs providing more details on what I did exactly, but in short it felt really good to take the time to catch up with people I care about. Instead of constantly rushing (although I still had quite a busy schedule!), it was great to spend sufficient time somewhere so that we could simply hang out on the couch for hours catching up rather that feeling obliged to run around. Regardless, Europe being Europe, I still ended up doing a bit of sightseeing in between the cups of tea, but overall, it definitely felt like I could relax!

I spent most of October and November in the south of France at my parents in lovely Provence 🥰. Perfect weather and blue skies meant that despite most of the time simply following along with my parents' daily routine, I did some beautiful hikes in the countryside, where vineyards and olive trees abound!

It's amazing how easily days are spent doing crosswords, reading, chores and going for a little hike, all whilst being most of the day outside in the garden or in & about town! 🤗

In this period, I also went for ten days to Muscat in the Sultanate of Oman visiting my sister, her husband and their two children 😍. We typically see each other in the summer in the Netherlands so it was great to be part of their life there for a bit! End of October, it was still hot 🔥 over 30 degrees, so I was really struggling to do much at all... I did teach my nephew the basics of rollerblading, went a few times to the beach (scorching if not in the water!) and just enjoyed spending time with them, at home or in the playground. Of course it went by way too fast, although at the same time "tante Fleur" must admit she was a bit relieved to leave the heat and busyness behind! 🤪

At the end of November, I switched my home base to our flat in the Netherlands, where it turned out to be muuuch colder, especially as the heating didn't work for a week 😫.

First thing on the agenda was winter camping in a yurt with 6 of my oldest friends from university. After a summer of camping, it hadn't been my idea, however despite the snow (!) and rain, we had a blast and basically chatted non-stop for two days straight... We know each other close to 30 years so that means that all topics go, and the laughter, tears and wine flowed easily! 😂

On weekdays, I caught up with other good friends from university and work, some of which I hadn't seen in 14 years since I came to Canada, very special indeed to reconnect and still feel the same friendship after so long! It also included a fun visit to modern art museum Voorlinden, where you could "swim" underwater! 🤣

The following week I embarked on a mini-European tour, visiting friends & my brother for 3 days each in Copenhagen, Paris, London and tiny Everdon (population 356) in central England.

I was toured through Copenhagen by my dear friend Jamie who I used to work with at CT... in a cargo bicycle! The best thing ever, as I kept warm under a blanket while he was narrating the sights and manoeuvring us through the busy streets. Mulled wine at the Tivoli Gardens, wine tasting at a distributor under some obscure bridge and wine at home... you get the picture! 🤩 Oh and amazing food as he & his partner are amazing cooks!

Next stop was at my brother in Paris where we visited the art collection at the Bourse de Commerce... the art was a bit too modern to our taste, but the building is impressive and lunch on the top floor was sublime! Staying at foodies (in France! 😃), it meant great food and company all through...

Then, I took for the first time the Eurostar train underneath the Channel... so much more comfortable than the plane for the short distance! My friend Hélène has converted into a true Londoner, so our trips consisted of walking the dog at sunrise in Regent's Park (whilst the chimps in the nearby zoo were waking up!), lunch at a fancy yet homey private club and a visit to the V&A, one of my favourite museums in the city. 😊

Last but not least, I took the train a few hours north to the hamlet of Everdon where Tracey has set up shop with chickens and rabbits in the garden 😀. We ended up making appetizers all day for a party, which was hilarious as we both had no clue what we were doing (ganache truffles anyone??) but the guests left all merry so that turned out OK. Next day, we walked out our headache among the sheep in the very English rolling countryside and ended the evening in the local pub... perfect ending to a great trip! 💖

Back in the Netherlands, Christmas came around quickly so I spent the last few weeks of the year quietly at home, beating my parents and brother-in-law at bowling 🙃 and trying to get outside as much as possible if it wasn't pouring. New Year's Eve is very special as the air explodes with 100's of fireworks (until you can't see them anymore from the smoke) so that marked the end of 2023! 🎉

Meanwhile, I had found out that I couldn't apply for the Chilean visa without going back to Toronto to get my paperwork legalized, so although I didn't really want to, by mid-January I was squarely back into the deep freeze! 🥶 The whole application process is a game of waiting and patience, so that meant I had plenty of time to do many things, including seeing lots of friends, dog-sitting, swimming, hiking, and even completing a course in teaching English!

Some of the highlights include a hike to a frozen waterfall and a visit to a Keith Haring exhibit at the AGO, one of my fav artists in a fab museum!! 😍

Celebrating my birthday in New Orleans at my Dutch besties was the best gift I gave myself; with a jazz festival where I collected beer money from strangers, a cool art garden, loving friends, gorgeous weather and a Dollie Parton drag show, what is there not to love?!?🤗

Running a bit out of steam now 😅, I came to Mont Tremblant in Quebec 6 weeks ago to stay at my dear friends Ivan & Cynthia and their larger family (we were 9 on the first day!), where I am thoroughly enjoying being surrounded by nature. I currently teach some 18 hours a week to mostly Koreans (that deserves a separate blog to explain!) while waiting for my visa to come through... again: 🤞🤞🤞

All in all, things are as good as they get; I remain hopeful about going to Chile later this year and in the meantime, I'm having a very different but fulfilling life... I keep learning (things about myself, how to be a coach, new trails) while meeting wonderful and kind people!

Okay so this girl Morgan has given birth to her daughter, Gianna earlier this year (she's 7 month now). Her baby daddy, that random man in Atlanta, left her and Gianna/Gigi after Gigi was 30 days old and Morgan was 30 days postpartum to go back to his ex-girlfriend. She had a c-section and was begging him not to go. But he still left. Girl he had suggested they move up to Michigan where her family lives and move in with them. He wouldn't let her take her stuff from her apartment up ther and had to get rid of all of it. Wouldn't let her drive HER 2021 truck but he got to around in it. He left them there and went to Atlanta to be with his ex. His own mom essentially cosigned him to get back with her. Girl he left everything there! His clothes, phone, food trailer/truck that she has to pay storage for, t-shirt press (that she uses to make her merch), stole her cash app card. All he took were his chains that he financed. Sis did everything for him! kept the roof over his head, the main one working and making all the money. She then found out that he has a total of 6 baby moms, the ex-gf he went back to wanted them to be in a poly relationship and for her to move in with them. Like girl what??? She calls him That Random Man in Atlanta cause it makes him mad lmaaaoo. She went to TT to tell her story and her journey with Gigi and has gone viral. And how he's on TT tryna lie on her and post subliminal messages and making it seem like she wants him back and he takes care of his kids while wearing a Daddy of the Year t-shirt in a video🙃.And made it seem like he sent her $16k for support but has never paid child support. He would put money on the stolen Cashapp card and uses it and sends messages that he's about to use. A true deadbeat father, I would know. I'm tryna keep it short but it's a mess! Now everyone has been talking about this and his second BM came out on tiktok exposing him and saying her son has a brother thats 8 days older than him (her bd having another kid).

That random man in Atlanta has been getting aired OUT!! I was just on Tiktok and another baby mother popped up exposing him! When I tell you that my fyp has been for you paging and the algorithm has been algorithming!!!??

Happy Halloween 🙃

It’s was the 31st, which means it was Halloween. It was Y/n favorite time of the year as she gets to leave work early and relax at home. The elders at her work place love to pass out candy to the young ones. So, they let everyone leave early to enjoy the rest of their night.

She would be enjoying her night alone as Hobi has work to do. She aware of what he does but doesn’t dwell too hard on the details. She still remembers how she found out what he does.

He left his gun on the dresser after he came home late. She went to pick up his clothes to put in the laundry, but she caught glimpse of the metallic gun. She was filled with fear and despair. Her small hands went to pick up the gun. Before she could fully touch it, Hoseok picked it up first. She watched as he put it on top of the highest shelf in the cupboard. She parted her lips and could barely get words out.

“Are you. . .”

He only nodded as he brought her to his chest.

The one and only compromise she made with him is that she would not hear anything about what he does. He immediately agreed and vowed not to mention anything.

Which is why he didn’t mention that he would be going to a party hosted by the mafia association. This party has many business men and women attend that aren’t even apart of the mafia. But for her safety, he didn’t mention it.

There was knocking on the front door. She knew it was Hobi as he knocks in intervals of three. Y/n smiled as she quickly made her way to the door. There Hobi stood with all his glory. He was wearing all black and his hair was parted on the side. He looked very divine.

“You made it!”

He walked in and pulled her in for a tight hug. It was a little too tight.

“Hmmph. . Hobi. . You’re hurting me. .”

He quickly pulled back.

“Sorry, I’m a little tired.”

“Come on. Go freshen up and join me on the sofa.”

The clock struck 2:08am. Y/n was fast asleep on his chest. He carefully picked her up princess style and gently placed her on the bed. He looked at her peaceful face and her sleeping form. He places kiss along her jaw and temples before giving a final kiss on her lips.

Finally home at 6:45 🙃 Cecilia is JUST eating dinner (chicken nuggets again, mom of the year) and still needs to get ready for bed and actually go to bed. I haven’t eaten anything since 12:30. Gavin still needs dinner too after practice so I’m hoping Dan just grabs us all something.

The good thing is Gavin does not need glasses (at least right now). The bad thing is I passed on a now genetic trait 🙃 it’s fine, not affecting him in the slightest. It’s just… one more thing. I just am so tired. 😂 and because he’s confirmed to have it, she recommended the other one get looked at for it so now i have that appointment in a few weeks.

But my appointments went fine; even though I got called into the second one almost 45 minutes after my appointment time, the doctor came in LESS than 5 minutes after the nurse saw me and he was super nice and actually talked to me about insurance and our options and even though I have to make ANOTHER appointment, it feels good to have a plan of care. I am getting an oral appliance to hopefully help me sleep better woooooooooo.

And my hematologist is making me go for blood work AGAIN bc she is concerned with the results from today. So she’s mailing me the script and I’ll just go on my own. Blah. That’s a little scary but it is what it is (I hate that phrase).

Aaa it's like primary school all over again hahaha.

- It took a long time but now I like being as short as I am (so height)

- My hair, I dyed it blonde again but it used to be a browny/blonde, but as fluffy as my hair looks I kinda like it lol

- my eyes, I'm the only person with blue eyes in my family and they're kinda a grey/blue

- My ability to forget some horrible things that have happened; my memory is pretty shit so while it can work against me I like that I can forget I've seen a movie or listened to a song and so I am able to hear/watch it for the first time again

- Eventhough my memory is shit, I can pick up patterns in games pretty fast- so I like that I can play my love live game better than my family, I don't mean to brag, my family is big on video games and so it's a big deal for someone to be better then someone else at a game... (I don't know if that made any sense sorry)

- Uuuhhh, this is hard... Another non physical thing that's nice about me? I like that I'm happy person most of the time! (Does that count?)

Friday Things

2/11/22

✨ today was such a good day!! It was much needed!

It was an easy “long” run (long in terms of its week 2 of marathon training lol) so it was just 6 miles. And damn, it felt SO good!!

I also had gotten a new pair of shoes and that had me on cloud nine too!

✨ after my run I bought a pair of dr scholls shoes bc they are SO comfy!! And they have such cute styles now and I loved these when I saw them the other day so I went back and got them!

✨ when I got home I took an Epsom salt bath (my routine now lol) while I read a few chapters of Divergent.

✨ then I made a late breakfast/lunch and had protein pancakes with earth balance and agave.

✨ my Bombas socks came in the mail today and I’m excited to run tomorrow morning in a pair haha! I LOVE these socks and I’m excited to have more than the one pair I kept washing daily to wear every run lol

✨ thea did some yoga today too hehe

✨ then I got a few hours of homework done before my hot yoga class at 4:30. I LOVED the teacher today and I’m going to try and take more classes with her! My two friends I go with also loved her too!

✨ after class I showered, came home and made this bomb dinner!!! An alpha foods mexali burrito, with romaine and arugula topped with miso dressing and a baked sweet potato :)) so. damn. good.

✨ now I’m laying in bed watching the first few episodes of Inventing Anna (it’s okay so far. Not amazing but I’m giving it 3 episodes to see if I like it more. So far I’m on episode 2. So we’ll see).

✨ tomorrow I work all day 🙃 I start at 10:30am and am done at 7:30pm. I might die lol

But considering I only work Thursday evenings and Saturdays I can’t complain too much lol

About 6,5 years ago I broke my wrist when I slipped on some ice (story about it bellow) and since then it's been a bit wonky. It's like it stops working when I do some stuff I could before and the strength magically disappear sometimes. Anyway. Today when I was putting some clothes in a drawer I somehow managed to smash the drawer on my wrist, exactly where the break in the bone was 🙃 Now it hurts like a motherbitch.

Story time!

I was on my way to an office where I would check if I could have my practical placement during my studies. A friend lived in that town and told me I could come over to her place before she drove me to the office. Took a bus over to her and when I got of the bus I saw her on the other side of the road. It was winter, so snow everywhere and piles along the roads. So I thought that I could just step over one pile. Didn't see that the ground behind was smooth as glass, so slipped and put about all my weight on my right wrist (I'm right handed) when I tried to catch myself from faceplanting. It hurt a bit, but could move my hand, so thought I just sprained it a little. We walked over to my friends house and had breakfast and after 30 minutes my wrist started to really hurt, but could still move it and there were no bruising. Made a mental note to bandage it when I got home.

She drove me to the office, I met the boss and as we were about to shake hands, I told her that I had just sprained my wrist, so it was a bit tender. During the meeting the wrist hurt with the smallest of movement. The meeting went on for like 30 minutes, she showed me the office, who would be my handler and as we were about to shake goodbye and I reached out my hand, we saw that the wrist was starting to go really blue.

"That doesn't look good." she said.

"I'm sure it's just sprained, can still move it. Don't think I could if was broken."

"You should go to the emergency room to get it checked."

"Sure? Could just go to the health center."

"No, I think you should go to the ER. I can drive you."

"If you could drive me to the bus so I can go to the ER in Gävle, I would be very grateful."

She drove me to the bus station, I got on the bus and yeah, I was now kind of convinced the wrist was actually broken and the bus journey was a nightmare. Called my mom and checked if she could keep me company at the ER, since you usually have to wait for hours. She would join me after a lunch meeting. Got to the ER, had to wait for only 30 minutes until I got called to take waiting room to take an x-ray. Had to wait there for 10 minutes, took the x-ray and then got back to the waiting room and mom joined me. Here the waiting started. For 2h we sat there, filling out some forms and talked a bit. Got sent to a private room to wait for a doctor. Waited for another hour and I was starting to get really hungry. Mom went to buy some food, hamburgers, which was quite difficult to eat with my wrist lol.

Finally the doctor came and showed us the x-ray. Apparently I had broken the radius where it's the thickest, straight through. The doctor was impressed that I had managed that. Thankfully it was a clean crack and no need to realign it. Got a cast and had to have it on for 6 weeks and then a brace for 7 months with some physiotherapy 🙃

It was really fun to have the practical placement where you meet people and have to take notes and then write it on a computer 🙃

So yeah. That's how I broke my wrist and it's still a little shit about it.

From the second I woke up today. Nothing has gone right. Nothing has worked out. I'm working a day I would normally be off so I didn't have an alarm. I woke up sick but because I didn't hear the alarm I went back to sleep. I was an hour late to work. Work wasn't super busy but I had nothing but nasty customers telling me what to do and just being rude 🙃 more then what I would normally handle. Whatever who cares. Grow up right? Right. Moving on. Remember I don't feel so good so I lay down on my 10 min break but my little attention staved pup attacks me a good 6 mins.. I just wanted a break. My lunch break is 30 mins it will be better. Wrong. Dog wants me I calm the dog down and my phone rings. I know have 12 mins. I can't do anything with 12 mins it's over. Moving on. I hear a knock at the door. I'm working. All three dogs go nuts.-_- "hold on" the door opens. Lindzie walks in with some random dude behind here with Oden halfway out the door.... I flipped out I was screaming I threw my phone I slammed the door almost on the dog he was smart enough to pull himself back him before getting caught ..... I think I don't actually remember my phone ended up across the room. She should have told us she was coming so I could take care of the dogs and put real cloths on.... i was in short short and a tank no bra... bringing some random man into my house was a bit much... he ended up taking the grill for me so was super helpful in the end but over all... flipping out like that made me realize how fucked up it is in my head again and idk how to fix it.

I need to figure out how to slow and form real thoughts I don't know how to ask you to help me. I mean I do but I can't ask you to do these things in all fairness. You are important too your health is important. The way you feel and not faking being okay just to make me happy... that's not okay. I want you to do something because you want to not for me.

Anyway back on track right

After my lunch around 3 I took another break but I was nauseous so I locked the dog out this time and laid in bed for about 8 mins to catch my breathe. Cam out and finished making a samwhich gerald cooked but didn't finish. He would have made it but I got to it first so I got slightly frustrated. Now work is finally over I'm suppose to be going to the store getting soda blah blah blah ... yet I again don't feel good so I just crash set an alarm for 30 mins and pressed snooze who knows how many times. My head is spinning and the last thing I wanna do is get up. I make is about 17 mins away and relized i order my shit in moon and now im an hour away..... nothing has gone right and I don't feel good. 😕 my head is spinning and I can't think straight I'm suppose to be on my way home getting ready to cook dinner that's been sitting in the fridge for far too long and way to much for just use. So I called you to think it through. Maybe for you to get me to calm down and breath for a second. Idk but you want to help. You don't feel good you've told me all day how your head hurts and your down with the day you wanted to quit everything. I didn't want you to have to drive all the way down to me just because I messed up.

I would have love to have you grab the groceries and have dinner ready for you when you came down held you for a mine kissed you. God after the day I had I would have loved that. But the way you've been feeling if you were having a min of relief. The last thing I was going to do was make it worse or that that second away from you whatever. Not to mention the second you step through the door my dogs would freak out.

I didnt want to meet you half way because I don't feel good..... I didn't want to have to get out on the side of the road and take the groceries from your car to mine then back home and into my house.. so I told you to go home. I understand you wanna help but those aren't good options at the moment.

Because of the detour I had to drive right back by the house. So I stopped and told gerald to roll me a blunt so I had something. I asked gerald if he wanted to come. I didn't have to be alone. Plus he's been alone for the last week and a half it would be nice to spend some time together since I'm not working.

I asked you how long I had to get up there because I wanted to stop at you house for 30 seconds and see you but by the time I got close I didn't feel good again and I just wanted to fall asleep I was hungry and haven't eaten since 3 I needed to get home.

I called to check on my brother see how he was driving and he going to drive as far as he can and stop at a hotel for the night. It's not a bad idea but it wasn't the plan .. again it just didn't work out.

After everything and how long the day has been someone ran off the road and hit a tree on our way home. And we sat in traffic for a good 15 20 mins while they cleaned up. We didn't know what was going on so I decided to make the most out of a bad situation. And eat a snack. And wait til it was over. It couldn't be much longer now im sure... and it wasn't if I had finished my banana and we were moving. I probably would have GPS how to get out of it. I didn't mind waiting listening to the birds and I think turkey... I like sitting outside. I embraced it for the moment.

I know I messed up somewhere. I should have let you bring the groceries. I really just thought I was doing what was best for you and easier for me. I did not mean to make you feel some type of way or make you believe I was telling you this wasn't your day and you didn't get to see me like I honestly split up my time and it's super strict. My house is chaotic whether you want to be here or not my dogs my mom.. its nothing but drama and aggravation. This isn't the environment you want or need to be in right now. This had nothing to do with not needing you or not wanting you. In fact... I called you because I did need you. But I started freaking out more. I needed to figure out dinner with it being so late. I needed to make sure my family was fed before 9 at night..

I absolutely do not only need you but I want you darlin you are important to you are safe and I didn't do anything malicious or have some kind of plan. I didn't think of anything before him it all happened in the moment.

Hopefully laying it all out like this gives you a little more understanding on how it all played out. In order it might make a little more sense. Maybe you can trust me just a little more and darlin I will do everything I can to help you trust me again..

N1) was at intervention, he walked in and talked to the teacher....went to leave and was ab to close the door but saw me at the back and stopped and stared for like 14 seconds no cap N2) He thought I was smart when he asked the class a question and only I got it and it was spot on like the exact words (he stared at me amused) N3) we aren't allowed phones in schl but....I walked in with my earphones in and he was in my form classroom since that's the only printer close to his room and I usually go to my form room in the mornings, he saw me with my earphones called my name, I ignored him until I sat down then I said what?
