Hi, I have an idea: Marshall has an adult daughter. and she brings her boyfriend to meet Marshall (I would like to see how the reader talks to Marshall about meeting him, how he feels about it, and the meeting itself (and maybe you can add something else from yourself))).
I hope I've made myself clear. And I want to apologize for any mistakes if there are any. English is not my native language.
daughter - eminem
daughter!fem!y/n x dad!Marshall Mathers
masterlist
synopsis: Y/N needs to tell her dad (Eminem) that she has a new boyfriend.
warnings: usage of the name Christian
A/N: I'm not sure if this is what you meant but if you want something different let me know! loved this request - hope you enjoy!
Y/N felt her skin getting clammy on the steering wheel during the drive to her father’s house after work. This was it, the day she’d been dreading yet excitedly counting down for. Today she would tell her father about her boyfriend, and hopefully convince him to meet him. This was an awfully sore subject, in fact, for quite a while, the “boyfriend talk” was exclusively banned in the Mathers household. Marshall hated talking about boyfriends, he hated meeting them, and he most definitely hated hearing about boyfriend activities. He loved knowing his daughters were safe and happy, but when you have four girls, hearing about a movie or a dinner date becomes a tiring routine.
Y/N was his third daughter, just before Stevie. She’d seen her older sisters irritate her dad to no end by oversharing details of their love lives. Even better, sometimes he’d accidentally walk in on his daughters talking about their love lives and he’d hear something he shouldn’t have. Y/N found his detestation hilarious, until it was her turn for the talk. She was scared to introduce her boyfriend; though she loved him, she was fearful her father wouldn’t approve or like him.
Y/N arrived at the large mansion quickly, much to her dismay. She stepped out of the car and grabbed her things erratically, preoccupied with thoughts about the script she’d created in her mind. She needed to plan this out to make sure she got her point across and didn’t mess things up too badly. Y/N walked up the stairs to her father’s bedroom, feeling the dread twist and turn her stomach and pound itself throughout the confines of her head and body. She stepped into the room, her eyes immediately catching her father sitting in bed, probably after having a long day.
Her thoughts instantly clouded with excuses as to why she shouldn’t tell him now. He had a long day, probably spent hours in the gym and the studio, so he probably wouldn’t want to know right now, would he? Plus, she could wait for a better time, like Thanksgiving dinner or the annual Christmas party. And she still had a chance to back out, he hadn’t seen her yet so if she just turned around now and left the house or came up with an excuse as to why she was there she wouldn’t have to tell him anything.
“Y/N?”, too late.
As she was turning around to carry out the escape part of her plan, she hadn’t noticed her father moving around in bed and turning to look at her. She slowly turned around, an awkward smile plastered on her face. “Hey…” she said, lumberingly. “What are you doing here?” her father asks. “Oh, so you don’t want me here?” she asked, jokingly. “Hey, you know that’s not what I meant. But seriously, why are you here?” He chuckled lightly after her joke but he stopped smiling as soon as she started talking. “I, um, wanted to ask you something.” She walked over to his bed and sat down next to him. “Yeah? What’s up?”, “Well, I’ve been meaning to talk to you for a bit now…” He didn’t like how ominous she was being, and he really didn’t like how anxious she looked. “You’re starting to scare me, Y/N.” She looked at him apologetically; she needed to start making her point fast. “Okay, so, um… I have a boyfriend right now. And we’re getting serious. I was thinking that, maybe, it was time for you to meet him.” She looked over at his deadpan face. He didn’t say anything for a bit, just blinking at her. This was the first time she’d asked him to meet a boyfriend of hers in a serious way. The other times it was more of a casual thing.
After a while, he spoke. “Okay, what’s his name?” This time, she was the one that didn’t say anything. She was expecting him to react negatively or something. But, in fact, he seemed kind of happy. “Um, his name’s Christian.” He smiled, but then frowned when he noticed her disquieted expression. “What’s wrong?” he asked. “I-I don’t know. I was just scared that you’d be upset.” “Why would I be upset? Does he make you happy? Is he loyal? Does he treat you right?” When she nodded yes to every question, he smiled. “Then I have no reason to be upset. Wait, actually, one more question. Does he like football?” Once Y/N nodded once more, he knew this was all he needed to hear. “Then I’m sure I’ll love him!” They both giggled a bit.
Christian opened the car door for her, he knew she was nervous, so he was trying to make sure this went as smoothly as possible. He didn’t want to mess things up with her dad, he knew they were close. Just be yourself. That was what Y/N said. He just needed to do that, be himself. Y/N turned her keys in the lock and let herself in. She held the door open for Christian, but she wasn’t really paying attention to that. She had her head turned looking into the house; she needed to locate her father.
“Okay, wait here baby.” Christian nodded, he took this time alone to really admire the house. It was truly gorgeous.
Y/N walked towards the kitchen, since her father would be cooking dinner tonight, that was probably where he’d be. Y/n found him standing at the kitchen island cleaning the countertop. “Hey Dad.” She smiled at him and kissed him on the cheek. “So, where’s your guy?” he asked, sort of eyeing the house looking for the mysterious man. “He’s waiting at the door.” she said shyly. “Alright, let’s go get him then.” They walked together towards the doorway, where Christian stood. Christian was turned around, now looking at the various picture frames of family photos. Family trips, graduations, sport awards, and school events alike were framed cutely along the hallway. He still hadn’t noticed the two people entering the room. He giggled at an old photo of Y/N when she was maybe 5. Y/N chuckled and he finally turned around.
“Hi, I’m Marshall.”, her father said as he extended his hand out to Christian. “Oh- uh, hey, I’m Christian. Nice to finally meet you Mr. Mathers.” Christian said as he shook hands with Marshall. “Please, just call me Marshall.”, he smiled. “Come and take a seat, I'll serve the food in a minute.” Christian nodded and followed Y/N to the dinner table and sat down. “Wait here.” Y/N said as she saw her father beckoning her to the privacy of the hallway.
“He’s cute.” Marshall said, smirking at Y/N. “Oh, shut up.” she blushed slightly. He really was. Marshall smiled at his daughter. They walked back to the dinner table and began to eat. “Mm, the food is delicious Mr. Mathers. You cooked this yourself?” Christian was filling his face with everything he could see. Y/N giggled lightly and Marshall chuckled at the sight. “Yeah, I did. Glad to know you like it.” Christian nodded since his mouth was full of garlic bread and pasta.
Y/N thought the dinner was already going great, but when her dad brought the dessert out, Christian looked like a little kid on Christmas. Marshall laughed loudly at his expression. “How are you still hungry?” Marshall asked. “I’m like a black hole, sir.” Christian said, half proudly. Y/N laughed out loud at that phrase, since it was something she always said.
Once dinner was over, Christian helped Marshall clean up the dishes and the table. They said their goodbyes (which were friendly, much to Y/N’s surprise), and were off. Well, actually, Marshall stopped Y/N before she left. “Hey, I like the kid. Make sure you make this one work.” Y/N giggled and hugged her dad goodbye. Once she hopped in the car with Christian, he started asking a lot of questions. “Do you think he liked me? Oh god, I embarrassed myself so badly with the black hole joke. I-” “Oh my gosh, Christian, shush. You did great! He really liked you…” she smiled at him. “Did he really?” Christian was beaming. “Yeah.”

I was just scrolling through my dash and found a post that really made me think.
This is a vent type post so it's below the cut if you don't want to read that. Also spoilers for Helluva Boss.
It was criticizing people who like the stolitz ship because "stolas and blitz are abusers" and that immediately made the ship wrong.
First of all, it really made me pause and think about the media literacy of people who watch shows like Helluva or Hazbin but can't look deeper than the character's direct actions. Yes, they're both assholes. But there's far more to it than that. Both of them have been fundamentally changed and affected by the ways they were raised; Blitz is avoidant of love and affection because his dad used him for money and his mom died in a fire he was blamed for. His best friend and love interest shunned him for years over a misunderstanding and everyone he loved turned their backs on him, his own sister included. Whereas Stolas is a prince who was in a very abusive arranged marriage and has this idea of love that comes from operas and movies, a very over exaggerated "shout it from the rooftops" rose-tinted shades type of love that quite frankly is impossible in our world and the show's. His relationship was horrible and he escaped into the worlds of movies and songs, and this gave him an unrealistic view of love.
Second, acting like people can't be shitty in relationships and still love one another is ignorant. Personal vent below.
I have a long term boyfriend; and we recently had a very heated fight because we both wanted things from the other that we couldn't communicate clearly. We both said hurtful things that we didn't mean. It doesn't make us abusive; it makes us human. People aren't perfect.
I feel like this criticism struck a particular nerve for me because I myself relate a lot to Blitz. I was in an abusive relationship, and that kind of thing changes you in ways you can't really describe to other people. I became very codependent and reserved, and after the relationship finally ended I felt even more lost than when I was in it (similar to Blitz fighting for his "relationship" with Stolas back, despite knowing it's unhealthy) because I had become so used to the chaos that calm felt like a threat.
You can say hurtful things and not be an abuser. Stolas is absolutely completely non self aware and he said hurtful things to Blitz because of it. That doesn't make him this horrible caricature of an abuser. He literally doesn't know any other method of love. He doesn't understand how his actions affect Blitz because he's a damn prince. Of course he's going to be out of touch and self-important. It also doesn't make him innocent.
Neither of them are innocent. They were both assholes to one another. But that doesn't make them abusers. Good lord people

My biggest concerns on the live action is how they’ll be able to portray Toothless’ and Hiccup’s relationship. Since that’s kinda the main point in the movie, if they screw that up then that’s that. Unfortunately for them, it’s really easy to screw up (…even when looking at the sequels). The main thing with that relationship is that it’s equal. I think the easiest way to screw them up, is by approaching it as a human and an animal forming a bond. It doesn’t work like that, because as characters, Toothless and Hiccup are equal. It honestly should be approached as a person and a person forming a bond. Because for all the purposes of the story, Toothless is a person. He understands Hiccup, just as Hiccup understands him. And the reason why their bond becomes so strong - stronger than between any other characters, dragon or human - is because they are so similar. The reason why Toothless didn’t kill Hiccup is the same reason why Hiccup didn’t kill Toothless. Because he could see he was just as terrified as him.
So the story should be approached as two characters from opposing sides, neither of whom fit in with their kind. And then they find each other, and finally someone understands them. And this bond is what brings the opposing sides together.
I’m not gonna lie, I don’t have much faith for the live action, but I do hope I’ll be proven wrong. The way to do that, is for the live action to show me that the change of medium can bring something else to the story. Because the thing about How To Train Your Dragon is, that I think it’s a perfect example of a perfect medium having been picked for a story. Those flying scenes where you feel like you’re flying with the characters wouldn’t have been possible with 2D. And in live action, the bond between Hiccup and Toothless wouldn’t have felt real, because they clearly don’t exist in the same world. 3D animation is the perfect mix of realism and non-realism, for a magical fairytale such as this to exist in.
That’s another thing I’m worried about. How they’ll be able to convince the audience of the relationship between Toothless and Hiccup when one of them is animated and the other isn’t. But that’s to be seen.
But they do need to do something with the story to show that the change in medium was worth it. A shot for shot recreation is just gonna a give a shittier version of the original. But I think there are ways they could manage. They could focus on the contrast between the joyful and the colorful with the more terrifying aspects of the story. To make them compliment each other. Because the dragons, especially Toothless, are scary. Like, there’s a reason why the Nightfury is so feared. That’s an aspect I wish they’d hone on. How terrifying Toothless can be. I mean think about the end battle. All that they threw at that thing, and it barely reacted. And then compare that to just one blast from Toothless. And the way they won, was by using Toothless’ skills against it. Silent, out of sight, and never misses. The only reason the Vikings managed to capture Toothless, is because Hiccup asked him not to hurt his dad.
So if they really use the live action medium, to bring out how terrifying dragons, especially Toothless are, then they’ll be able to showcase just how batshit insane Hiccup is for everything he does. And just how special their bond is.
And in turn, I think it would be great if they did the same for the Vikings. Make them scary, and show the audience why the dragons would fear them.
But yeah. We’ll see. It’s not Disney, so maybe I can have like an ounce more hope, but honestly…ehhh. I really don’t have a lot of faith. I don’t think the live action is necessary, I don’t think they’ll be able to use it to change or enhance anything. But, like I said, I do hope I’ll be proven wrong.

corey commentary: the official making of h40 🎃🔪
honestly i feel like this book really helped me refocus my thoughts on corey and brought me back to basics for the first time in a while.
i've split this post into a few specific topics based on my own thoughts and the book details that i found most interesting. a lot of this i've talked about before but i'm bringing it back with evidence babyyy.
WARNING for suicide and suicidal ideation, murder, manipulation, mental health issues and crises, and passing mentions of child abuse.
costume
corey's costume was developed in reverse (pg. 176), starting with his final look, the leather jacketed bad boy, and working backwards to the opening scene look, the good boy on his way to the sock hop.
i love that this was the process, i think that's so interesting from both a design and character perspective. taking him from what he became to what he was? it feels sort of like they were centring nostalgia in a way, starting with who corey became and then looking back to who he was (and who he will never be again). it kind of makes his downfall even more heart-breaking to me.
rohan mention's wearing coreys clothes in his real life and how no one even looked at him (pg. 184). in the commentary he also mentioned wearing corey's glasses a lot to get into the character mindset.
very interesting that we have tried and tested proof that corey can literally fade into the background and go unnoticed. it must be a combination of trying to be visually more plain but also a very quiet demeanour. but then you have the angle of corey being forced to reduce himself to as small and quiet and invisible impossible. i like the way corey both wants to be invisible (to avoid confrontation) but also desperately wants to be seen and heard and believed and understood by someone.
frame of mind/suicidal ideation
rohan mentions that there's an element of corey having not been able to kill himself before, because it was too hard to do, but looking into michael's eyes he realises he can just "call it quits" and let michael do it. then, after he is spared by michael, it gives him "permission" (pg. 198)
i think it makes a lot of sense though that michael letting him go is what tips corey over the edge, maybe reinforcing his own buried guilt (if michael let him go, he must be evil, right?) and making it feel a lot easier to make horrific choices (murder) while also making his emergency exit plan (suicide) feel easier too, if he wanted to.
corey being "tainted" by the shape because he's so close to being that anyway (pg. 172).
i don't personally believe in evil as an actual supernatural force in these movies, but corey is definitlel portrayed as more susceptible to michael's influence, even if michael does actuall demand anything of him.
i think @/slutforstabbings was the one who mentioned this to me. but when corey meets michael he is mentally and physically more susceptible to reacting irrationally in a very real-world sense. he has a history of abuse, experienced a major trauma (the accident), been under intense stress (the party), and had a recent head injury (the fall from the bridge and smacking his head in the sewer). these factors all contribute to a mental health crisis and drastic change in personality.
i feel like this confirms that corey was likely headed for (possibly another) breakdown in the future, but the events of the party/meeting michael just triggers it sooner.
emotional control
rohan mentions corey purposely doesn't feel anything since the accident (pg. 188).
this might have been my favourite detail that gets mentioned. i've always thought that corey's way of surviving post-accident was to just shutdown completely and switch off all his emotions. it's interesting to know that rohan was playing him that way.
and also a lot of the time when corey does feel strong emotions, they are turned in on himself to try and keep them private, like his anger at terry results in him hurting himself (accidently) with the milk bottle, or him regularly climbing over the bannister at the allen house but not being able to let go while during the day he thinks about some outward expression of rage through the blowtorch at the garage.
the mirror scene symbolises the first time corey feels in control (pg. 198).
i've written about this a lot before, but i very much agree that the mirror scene is a moment of processing both "what the fuck just happened?" but also "this is what control feels like". corey's whole breakdown, starting from killing nelson, is about regaining control over his own life, even if it means un-restraining himself and doing horrific things.
killings
ryan turek (exec.) and paul logan (writer) specifically state how ends is essentially a revenge movie, with corey's kills start as revenge killings, but if he survived the kills would get more random (pg. 167).
i feel like this highlights the way that corey's connection with the shape is cut short, unlike michael who had it for decades. the shape (or the idea of it) lets corey get his revenge, but after that he could keep going, he'd pick up momentum and he wouldn't be slowing down.
this seems like this is pointing towards killing being corey's method of control rather than some more direct desire to kill.
he becomes "addicted" to violence and he knows it (pg. 191).
"addicted" is a super interesting word choice and i feel like it fits perfectly. corey starts with revenge, he has his reasons, but as time goes on he could find a reason for anyone if he wanted to.
if corey survived ends and got away, he'd be living his own life for the first time ever. i think there are a lot of things he'd over indulge in, and killing being an addiction plays heavily into that -- there would be nothing to tell him to stop.
high priest!corey
rohan specifically describes corey leading doug to the sewer as him bring michael a "sacrifice" (pg. 206).
vindication !! @/slutforstabbings once said to me, while we were talking about the ritualistic nature of corey and michael's relationship and killings, that corey replaces nelson as michael's high priest, as the person who brings the sacrifices and channels michael to the outside world.
manipulation
rohan says that corey "plays" at being the shaking little boy again when he jump scares laurie while waiting outside for allyson (pg. 204).
i love this, because i fully believe corey thrives on manipulation. i think corey is fundamentally a good person anyway, but in dealing with joan he knows how to make himself inoffensive and agreeable, and i think he knows that that "character" is a safe bet to keep people happy.
and the novelisation confirms that this almost works !! laurie thinks he's just awkward and still upset from the night before. the thing that makes laurie doubt how genuine he is, is that she can see how he changes -- she can see the way he switches from one demeanour to another. proof right that he can play at being who he needs to be in the moment.
but then, by the time laurie shoots him, corey really is just a scared little boy who is in way over his head and unequipped for the situation he finds himself in (pg. 226).
corey is unprepared and unpractised -- he doesn't have the experience that michael has in bouncing back. he isn't michael. he's fucked up big time, his plan has fallen through, and he's backed himself into a corner. all the terrible things he's done, everything he's been through, the taste of control -- it's all for nothing is laurie can get the upper hand on him like this.
he's scared and out of his depth but he's dangerous, but corey ends the film the same way he starts it, in a situation he has no control over and with only himself to blame. only this time he's having the last word, he's going to do what he could before and he's going to take laurie down with him.
relationships
rohan said ronald is "the loveliest thing" in corey's life, and that the gesture of giving the motorbike is "beautiful [but] manly and detached" (pg. 182), which is a way more sympathetic view than i have.
this is a wayyy more sympathetic view of their relationship than i have. i do like this angle though, the idea that corey and ronald did have some sort of relationship but that neither of them can express it very well, that they're taking the stereotypically masculine route of small gestures and not a lot of words. which seems at odds with what corey really needed from the only male role model in his life, but it's kinda sweet that corey must like ronald enough for him to be a good part of his life, rather than just neutral.
maybe the takes about ronald being a good stepdad aren't wrong 👀
corey falls for allyson most deeply when he sees how she is on the edge just as much as he is (pg. 215).
this made me wonder if allyson and corey could have ever been together without the events of the movies? if they still met by chance, would they get along? would the attraction still be there?
their relationship is based on parasocial affection and shared similar traumas, there's a certain emotional intensity there that translates to them making rash decisions and commitments that i don't think they would otherwise.
joan's last words (in an even more extended death scene) are begging "michael" not to hurt corey (pg. 222).
joanne baron has talked about joan's motivations and perspective in some interviews, so this scenes lines up very well with what she's said previously. joan has never treated corey like a person, he's an object for her to control, but her two moments of concern for him (when he comes home the morning after the party and her death scene) come from a seemingly natural and genuine place.
also, the biggest factor that made me loose my mind over this: she doesn't know it's corey killing her. she begs this masked murderer not to kill her son, not know that it is her son beneath the mask 💀
she's begging someone not to hurt corey after years of being the one who has hurt corey. it's too late to turn back, it was always going to end like this, but can you imagine what went through corey's mind in that moment? that his momma wanted him to be safe but never made him feel safe when she had the chance.
me whenever there is a direct quote from rohan in this book:

The Great Gatsby (1974) au where Gatsby doesn't die and instead Nick takes on the no-paying job of trying to get Jay to move on from Daisy.
Bad ending is Gatsby never does & he and the Buchanans become a never-ending shitshow. Good ending is Jay moves on. Super special bonus ending is Jay and Nick fall in love (toxicity optional)

I never participated in the tlou discourse because I hadn't played any of the games, but now that I've watched someone play the first game I gotta ask........ why was everyone so mad about the plot of part II when part I is far worse. Like I'm sorry wdym Joel escapes with Ellie, completely ignoring her autonomy to decide wether she wants to do this or not, kills her mother's friend and former guardian and lies to her, dooming all humanity, just because he wants to be a dad again and he's too much of an asshole to get a new wife? Fuck this guy fr, glad he gets killed in part II!

#snap chats#i love his scarves and turtlenecks in this too- i love a lot of toru's outfits tbh. i just think he's cute in general </3#highkey its prob one of my faves cause this is also my favorite sequence of scenes#he and yuka are just esp cute it makes me giggle#their autism4autism love is my favorite..... fr this sequence is so cute like CAN I. RAMBLE about it real quick#cause it's a scene where yuka invites toru home but there's a sign left by her mom on the door that says not to let strangers in#and With His Eyes toru reads it like 'is it ok if im here ??' and yuka just 🥺 'youre my friend and a nice person so its ok :)'#and then he just gives her The Stare™️ yk the one and i cry. AND THE SCENE AFTER WHEN SHE'S TRYING TO MAKE COFFEE--#guys this is my favorite episode for a reason idc pure still has a chokehold on me 😭😭😭 theyre so cute..#back to the outfit tho its also just. VERY city-goer to me idk what it is. prob all the denim. prob cause its somethin my dad would wear--#im usually denim's number-one hater but if ttm's wearing it it's ok#OH ALSO update on OMC2: ttm IS in it TECHNICALLY but it's just a quick flashback segment#it's. it's a flashback to the ending scene ☠️#even in a movie he's not technically in he's still shirtless girl i cant#and yet he was never shirtless in THIS show... lol....#anyway yeah it this one <3 def had plans of stealing it since the store i usually shop at's having a sale and they're sellin a similar shir#that'll have to be plans for christmas i think....

my mom isn’t letting my dad go back to his office bc him being out of the house stresses her out and makes her have a flare up and it’s like kind of insane. like i understand why the idea of him doing that would make her panicky and angry as someone who also struggles w separation anxiety and abandonment shit / has physical symptoms from that kind of stress (though not to the same degree ofc) but also he is a grown man. he should be allowed to go to his office and not have to shape his entire life around her needs. and she keeps guilt tripping him out of it and it’s impacting his quality of life a lot and the whole thing is kind of… hm
#purrs#delete later#also she’s guilt tripping me into coming to the stupid fucking potluck on sunday bc she needs the extra help and it’s like… what are you#gonna do when i move out. like i am a grown woman and i should be able to choose how i spend my two precious weekend days. and my dad is a#grown man and he should be able to choose where he works. like is that not a little bit insane. i get it but also….. i do think it s kind of#fucked ip that it’s her way or the highway and her needs take priority over all of ours and she’s asking us to bend to what she wants when#she wants it. like i get it bc she’s sick but it’s not fair for her to expect that from my dad especially. particularly when me and my#brother are back at work / school in more high risk environments than my dad who would be in a private office alll day. and the thing is no#one is brave enough to all her on it bc if we did it would be the END of the world. she even threw a fit on my dads bday and complained bc#the things he wanted to do were things she didn’t want to do like all the man wanted to do was go mini golfing and when that wasn’t good#enough he just wanted to go on a walk and my mom complained the whole time and also scoffed the movie he wanted to watch and said it was#boring and it’s like… wtf it’s HIS birthday??? but what do you expect from the woman who (and in fairness her friends got her these as gifts#but still) has TWO kitchen items that say some variation of ‘a marriage is when one is always right and the other is always the husband’ 💀#i look at that little plaque every night bc it’s in front of the sink when im doing dishes and it makes me so fucking angry. like my dad is#a whole fucking person and he can be right too and he deserves to make choices and be happy and not have his wife put him down all the time.#idk. and she puts down his family all the time too and complains when he wants to do the most reasonable things for his own enjoyment that#don’t align with hers and criticizes his interests all the time and it just sucks to see. he never shows hurt or anything so idk how he#feels about it but it makes me so angry and sad and when i tell her to stop she just lashes out at me so. 🤪. like how do we get her to stop#making her needs more important than everyone else’s bc… she may be our mom / his wife / whateger but that doesn’t make her queen. no one is#(andalso this has only gotten worse bc of covid / her being sick. like this has been a lifelong thing it’s just it’s a lot worse now bc the#circumstances gave her room / forced her to have to take up more space. and it’s just so frustrating. i get it. but none of us are pawns or#dolls or subordinates or anything. there’s 5 adults here and we should all be able to make choices and not be guilt tripped by her. lol#)

Saw Ferrari on Christmas as part of our ongoing tradition of being not at the big tiring family gathering the whole day, and I gotta say if you're thinking of seeing that one: don't fuckin bother. The story is unsatisfying, the acting is solid but lacking, the action is impossible to follow because the main rival to Ferrari is Maserati and they both use Italian Racing Red so you gotta memorize the car numbers if you want any sense of the race, the main character is deeply unlikable and his character arc is literally nonexistent: he shows no growth whatsoever over the course of the movie, the cinematography is the visual equivalent to a picture book for five year olds of all the shots there were like two that were at all interesting, and the ending is deeply unmotivated like who even fucking cares?
