#kirby#daily kirby#my art#digital#hal laboratory#nintendo#my wife and my partner said I can go to the fancy korean bakery nearby and pick out lots of snacks#*and* it's right next to a taiwanese grocery store that probably has a lunar new year candy I've been idly looking for for like. 20 years.#not a joke btw#one year we celebrated lunar new year in school because blah blah white people school with like 2 chinese kids#it was meant as like a cultural exchange thing but it feels very tokenizing in retrospect#but Anyway#there was one specific sweet they brought that I've been wanting more of Ever Since and I'm pretty sure it was candied lotus seeds#but I only pinned that down for relative certain like. this month#and we mostly shop at american korean and japanese groceries#so I had one one time over 20 years ago#and haven't seen them since.#until jessica kellgren-fozard's recent video with her wife about lunar new year traditions#and I was like 'oh dang I probably can actually just look that up now huh'#cuz I remember the shape very distinctly#and I've been kind of looking for it since before I was on the internet lol#so it genuinely didn't occur to me that I might be able to look it up.#point being - a brief break in The Horrors for Snack Excitement :)

#fucks me up that there are two whole new animals in the house that i barely know#who depend on me for everything#barely recognize me as a friend or helper#and are so incredibly incredibly fragile#i got worried for junie today because her spay incision had some swelling#and it's normal to have some and i have seen it before#but after what we just wemt through i got upset and rushed her to the vet#who said it was fine and thankfully we have free office visits#but i was so upset even though i knew it was probably normal#i look at them and i see adorable cuddly sweet TEMPORARY things and i feel like something inside me got broken somehow#and i was right all along that after it was all over i would come back but not quite as myself#i just hadn't fully understood the extent#we are keeping them and it sort of had to happen when it did but i think it was too early for me#they are so cute and when they do cuddle it's so sweet and obviously i would fight for them as hard as i would for Fancy#because that's just how the deal works and it isn't about you at all it's about how they each carry a little world inside them just as we d#and that deserves equal respect and care regardless of my personal affections#but i look at them and i see little creatures that don't belong here and are foreign in some fundamental way#and that they will be gone in just a little while and things will go back to how they were#which is impossible#we will settle in and i doubt anything i am feeling is abnormal but I'm really struggling and i feel so bad about that#i don't know#it's just a lot to deal with#and i feel very lonely and sad about it#and under it all the sick feeling of having JUST held all three lads as they passed and the VISCERAL reality of it#and knowing one day if everything goes just right i will be holding them too#dear god life is so fragile and every living thing is just as mortal as any other

What device do you use for your art?
i use a laptop (i used to use a secondhand thinkpad, nowadays ive been using a different type) and a good ol' wacom intuos!! nothing fancy :]
#btw the thinkpad i used was a helix . shes an old model and on her death bed#though i recently switched to the new laptop (which i got from the school. like the government supplied it)#ghost once said#but yeah!! genuinely nothing fancy we got my old laptop secondhand too#though the wacom was a but pricey by hungarian standards but id say it was worth it#i also use firealpaca as an art program so i think that just shows im really not the one for 100k huf equipment#sidenote: i do plan on getting myself a proper laptop . its just that im broke. looking very pointedly at the eur to huf exchange rates#my dream is preferably one that doesnt die the second i open ultrakill with discord and firefox running in the bg#as for traditional art? ikea pencils and two overly fancy rotring mechanical pencils and cheap as shit ballpoint pens#(which i likely found on the floor of a classroom)

i cant believe i havent posted these yet..... ive been collecting some plushies over a while to represent the guys in my eos team (and lumi) and i thought it would be a fun way to officially christen them by sewing them some lil accessories to match the ones i draw them with!

#pokemon#pmd eos#pmd 2#mang crafts#<- new tag!#my junk#i was very specific about the plush i wanted to get to represent circuit#i dont like the ones that dont have the electricity around the body.... it doesnt look right#most of these i finished a while back but lumis i did fairly recently!#if ur wondering why the wip shots look so different from the finished ones its bc i used my fancy photography camera for it#(also i had more lights on i suppose dfgjjd)#i was trying to make a somewhat clean looking photo area... idk how well it worked but ah well#i thought mellos was gonna be harder then it was because her leg was so teeny#but the solution just ended up being to fit it very snugly dfgjd#lunas one was by far the most time consuming one to do sweats#because 1) i needed to find a very specific pink and sparkly slightly transparent fabric that i would still sew#(i didnt end up going with any kind of fabric for it its actually a ribbon that i found)#2) while the string i chose looked cool it also got Very tangled so while sewing it i had to unknot it like pretty much every other stitch#3) it is surprisingly hard to find small oval shaped objects (even the one i ended up going with was a bit of a compromise)#i just went into my local sewing store like Help. i need an oval shaped button please#anyways theyre all up on my shelf of pokemon plushies now :] theyre hangin out#team epic squad is real and theyre in my home

i'm very much contemplating signing up for that fancy horse model club this year bc i'll at least have enough spare change/xmas money to make the initial deposit for it, but i am Devastated to be reminded how much the individual models cost lmaoooo rip
#by the time i have to pay for them i'll probably have more income and it'll be Fine#they might have been cheaper in previous years and that's what i'm remembering. bc i swear they were#listed as $175 before and then you take the deposit into account and it brings them each down to like#$140 each or smthn like that. but now they're listed as $195 each?? sheeeesh#like. they're worth it. bc they're brand new sculptures/models and all hand painted and come w#fancy packaging and certificates of authenticity etc etc. but i'm so. aauuughghfjgkhg so much money...#i say this as if i don't refrain from spending money on myself 99% of the rest of the time unless it's#something strictly utilitarian that i'll use very frequently#these are just Pretty Objects........ but i want them. i want just One Nice Thing for myself pretty please#after the Hell of the last few years. i want smthn i can look forward to for the whole next year#i say things

Me @ the local exotic bird fair: I'm way too white for this -- oh *gasp* ITS A CHICKEN *immediately bypasses the emus and parrots to see the modern game bantams and old english games in the back*
#my bird talk#its one of those things were you look around and go well someone is the odd one out#it was me#I'm very obviously white super white and woman-presenting#in a large exhibit hall of hispanic and se asian men#it didn't particularly bother me - I mean I lived in Korea for 3 years but I found it funny#the funniest part to me is the chicken sellers were also white women 😂 and they were the only white vendors other than the supply table#white women and hispanic men - biggest fans of chickens unite#I've actually purchased birds from the mom in the mom-daughter duo before#I desperately wanted those chickens tho#and the old english games in the table next to them#2 of my 3 fave chicken breeds the 3rd being sebrights#sadly I purchased 2 diamond doves and that's it#I wanted new colors/blood on the doves and 1-2 button quail roosters#but I was too slow on the button quails and someone else got them while I was buying a dove#next year after I build a bigger aviary and sell most of my canaries I'll try some finches#the new owners of the bird show must be allowing poultry/gamebirds now#b/c there were 2 chicken booths and coturnix and bobwhites and pheasants and mandarin ducks#usually the only birds like that you'd see would maybe be a pair of fancy pigeons or some ringneck doves#the only thing I don't like about that is chickens and ducks carry a lot of yucky things#like theses birds all looked very well taken care of b/c they were clearly showbirds#but I don't know how much vetting they do of the vendors and all it takes is one sick bird

#i forget if i said but Baby Sister and i stopped off at ikea on the way back from picking her up at the bus stop on monday#and finally replaced the ruined-by-a-succession-of-cats-(in-ways-both-unsightly-and-gross) Accent Chair in the living room#with a poäng rocker (bc the shape is a little more interesting and less instantly recognizable than the regular chair) in birch (my beloved#also they make fancy tufted cushions for it now! wish they came in more colors but it's a real improvement on sad options past#and anyway it's like. now you can actually sit here in the morning and look out the window at the extremely beautiful view#and the chair actually supports you??? like i could see down the road trying to work out some kind of custom cushioning that's thicker#but the shape of the frame is so ergonomic for me that it's genuinely quite comfortable regardless. bentwood exocorset…#anyway. not a very original post but i just DO really love ikea#like yes it's a mixed bag but also honestly if you're buying particle board—#(i was going to say 'and expecting it to hold up' but. honestly i think it's just. if you're buying particle board period)#—that might be on you.#(like. if you're being pressed in from all sides by budget constraints and immediate need and no accessible better-made used alternatives—#obviously you do what you have to. but it's like buying pleather—you know‚ or should‚ that the material is going to disintegrate.)#but the things ikea makes with decent materials are remarkably well-designed and affordable for what they are‚ has been my sense?#you just gotta shop carefully but like. that's true literally everywhere.#anyway. in conclusion i love my new buddy with its clean lines. …do people name chairs ever.#i've never before had the urge but this one feels like a little assembly-line friend that deserves its own identity. like a star wars clone#(lol what if i gave it a little nametag somewhere hidden. secret identity talisman 4 chairpal.)#(& yes i promise i'm as aware of the‚ uh‚ itself-ness of this tag spiral as you are. :) )#domesticities

Making myself mad again by imagining all the different better versions of the Disney live action remakes that could exist if they had been made by a creative team that cared and had something to say about the animated movies and been backed by executives willing to support their vision.
