I am playing the Resident Evil 2 remake. I have only died once. I am not terrified, but Stressed. The fact there is limited ammo and u get touched by a zombie 2 times in a row they'll eat u? So u cant just run. They might grab u 2 times if you misjudge distance! But u cant shoot! That ammo is going DOWN. When its out? Oh no. No no nope. Cant let it run out. I played Parasite Eve before... when the ammo runs out u are UNABLE TO CONTINUE when u hit a boss battle. I stumbled into the undercity stuff, found the big zombie guy, and there was extra health plants sure... no extra ammo tho. U run out of bullets u gotta restart from a much earlier save when u still had ammo
(None of these are complaints btw. This is how this game should feel. Resource management is a major Point of Resident Evil games. If i wasnt THRILLED whenever i found a new hip pack for Leon, for more storage, it wouldnt be a RE game).
Its so not my play style though lol. Im a bat kinda person. Give me a bat (or a wrench if its Ratchet and Clank) i will meelee fight even if its the weakest and i gotta go in close range. Anything without limited use. As long as its not limited use. Ill risk close range attack. Its easier than limited ammo/usage ToT. Anyway Im now saving on tons of saves and paranoidly deciding to skip stuff cause i cant risk needing to use my ammo lol
Anyway. Fun game so far! Nice horror game! I like that it has tense moments, but enough down time to Actually Explore every few minutes without surprise attacks, so u can think about the puzzles and ur resources and arent just in React and Run mode. It reminds me pleasantly of Fatal Frame. Now Fatal Frame, for me? Scarier. But both FF and RE2 have limited ammo weapons (u run out of camera film in Fatal Frame and u simply cant continue, it does not respawn more film to find). And they have a structure where like. You wander and solve puzzles and explore this cool place, with about every 5 minutes a monster giving u a hassle and scaring you. But if you get stuck, while youre mid exploring youre unlikely to be attacked too often so you can plan where to explore or try next for the puzzle. Its a good structure for a horror game because it builds tension but like. If you go nonstop on Jumpscares or Enemies chasing, either a player has to learn to be less afraid (and if youre playing horror to have fun and get scared then you dont want to lose the fear), or they have to get super frustrated solving puzzles because theyre attacked Too Often to actually figure the puzzles out or finish them.

walked in on jonah and peachy watching the second half of the first 'fear street' movie and sat down to watch the rest of the trilogy with them!! :) i'm not normally a horror movie person but the story was SOOOOOOOOO incredibly strong and compelling. the story and horror felt equally important and interwoven, like, the movie just wouldn't work without both. extremely good. really really really good.
spoilery specifics below cut
also the main characters are Real Lesbian Girlfriends and they BOTH LIVE!!!!! and so does one of the girls' sweet brother (theyre black this is why i have to worry about this)
the gore was rough at moments (not unwatchable for me but if you ARE squeamish that way its going to be a tough watch) but i never felt like.... TOO much?? it achieved the purpose of Unsettling The Shit Out Of Me without feeling like it was there JUST to be gross and get a reaction. like. it WAS gross. i DID react. but it served the tone and didn't overstay the welcome
and the TWISTS!!!!! THE MULTI LAYERED LORE!!!! THE WAY YOULL NEVER GUESS WHATS GOING ON BUT IT DOESNT FEEL LIKE A CHEAP 180 JUST TO TRICK YOU. LIKE IT WORKS. THE WITCH IS SO SCARY AND HER LORE MAKES IT SO MUCH SCARIER FOR REASONS U JUST CANNOT PREDICT. LIKE. I DONT WANNA SPOIL IT EVEN IN MY DESIGNATED SPOILER ZONE
also sam and deena (the lesbians) are EVERYTHING to me. deena is an incredible character. i think i missed a lot of sam's characterization due to missing the first 3/4 of the first movie but she REALLY compelled me even so. and DEENA IS JUST. SO GOOD. her love and courage being so potent even though she's also suffering from so much fear and anger. she's so fucking cool.
anyway. if you're chill with gore and "murderers hunting protags like sport" type horror it's INCREDIBLE and i highkey recommend the whole trilogy. like. what the fuck i loved it. it's so unsettling. that's the word i keep going back to! like, it's NOT jumpscare heavy, the suspense and atmosphere does a great job of setting the right expectations up; none of the sudden jumps to action felt cheap. i wasn't TERRIFIED but i was UNSETTLED AND COMPELLED?? i think this is what normal horror buffs get out of these movies???? and getting to actually FEEL that because the movie doesnt botch itself on cheap shock value (that DOES always get me but not in the enjoyable way) was really cool. fun fun movie even if ur not super into horror imo.
definitely check out a trigger warning list tho, just because there's a lot of different kinds of gore and for me at least, certain things are triggering while others arent. and there's stuff besides that i think is worth knowing ahead of time, like period typical homophobia and animal death. those are the ones that stood out to me but definitely find a thorough list
anyway i am in love with deena. absolute woman of all time. if ur one of her haters ill blow you up

come to think of it, it may as well be impossible for me to find suitable slasher / gore horror lmao
why? it's because of the screaming. my SPD is very audio-focused, so it can induce pain and headaches, possibly even migranes. the uh. occasional auditory hallucinations i get of women screaming also don't help.
however, if you have any recs for stuff like found footage or EAS scenarios ( especially SCP ones ), i have found a fondness for them while experimenting with what types of horror i enjoy ^-^
( sorry if i word things weirdly oiyfdxchigfc )
You get occasional auditory hallucinations of women screaming too wtf-
Here are some things you could watch. I'm really, really sorry in advance if any of these have triggering content for your sensory issues. I tried my best to make sure they were all accessible, hopefully I did alright.
For found footage horror films, immediately The Blair Witch Project comes to mind, but I gave that a 4/10 lmao. Good to watch for the experience of having watched it though. Not much screaming, but I do distinctly remember once scene of one of the characters screaming "PLEASE HELP US" and the main character (who is a woman) screaming for another character near the end. No straight screaming as I recall, but scream-yelling.
I've heard great things about Lake Mungo, which apparently has no jumpscares, and is a found footage-style psychological horror mockumentary that I really need to watch.
Ringu- the original Japanese version of The Ring- doesn't really have the screams or as many jumpscares as the American adaptation, but it's pretty tense regardless. If you like horses, I would prefer this version over the American one. Also if you have sensory processing disorder. It doesn't really rely on a lot of the hella discomforting sound design of the American adaptation, which is def scarier, but god, Sadako is like 10x more nightmare fuel than Samara, even if I ultimately like the execution of Samara's character a lot more. Just watching the original Ringu, Sadako is still a good character, I just think her story got convoluted later on. The TV scene in the og too is horrific. I love it
Candyman is widely considered pretty good, but I've heard people say its themes of racism are tone deaf at times. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm familiar with it. Lacks jumpscares, should be good on sensory problems, bc it's my understanding there's not much meant to elicit abject fear, but you may have to be careful.
I love The Walten Files, but given your sensory issues, I wouldn't recommend it unless you truly believed you could handle a lot of bad sensory input. If that ever happens, check it out. If not, avoid it.
However, a similar but much lighter seeming ARG called Welcome Home may be up your alley, currently it lacks any jumpscares or similar shocking noises. It's like Poppy Playtime but actually good.
Serial Experiments Lain is a good, ominous slow-burn psychological horror anime that lacks any potentially harmful sounds. Another is more gory and dark, but doesn't have a lot of loud noises or screaming either.
Local 58 is a well known analog horror that kind of checks the EAS scenario box, and lacks any jumpscares, but is very eerie and dark. Gemini Home Entertainment is much more so, but also has jumpscares as I've heard, so while I'm not familiar with that one I suggest you exercise caution. Local 58 I have seen and it's pretty good and should be safe for you and your SPD.
UrbanSpook has no audio jumpscares, but a lot of visual ones. Pretty good body horror stuff too.
I also tentatively recommend Petscop. Tentatively because it has absolutely zero SPD triggers, but its themes heavily revolve around child abuse, childhood trauma, esp parental abuse, and some readings even involve transphobia and ableism. Darker interpretations can also gather themes of CSA. That one is all up to how you read it (aside from the very explicit child abuse themes) so be careful for mental health reasons.
(I also very tentatively recommend it because I don't like recommending Petscop to people. It's a very personal comfort for me and I don't like giving it out to just anyone as a recommendation.)

Ok, watched 3 peacock horror movies and I will be grading them
The new fnaf movie: A-
Great plot, plus it legit scared me (which wasn't what I expected from a PG-13 film) amazing casting, points taken away only because of the horrible plot twist that the career counselor turned out to be William Afton
They/Them (yes that was the actual name of the movie 💀): D-
Literally the only thing saving it from being an F is that it used Pink! for the soundtrack, but everything else sucked! It was confusing as hell, the "representation" was shit, and above all the plot twists was excruciatingly painful, literally the only people who were killed were the bad guys, and before you yell at me i know its because the murderer turned out to be the nurse who used to go to that conversion camp when she was younger but the point of a horror movie is to scare you, I'm not scared if theirs nothing to be scared of. Oh? A bunch of homophobic pricks are being murdered after literally torturing a dude just because he slept with another dude? Good! Put those fuckers in their place! Oh that same murderer went to jail? Great! Now I dont have to worry about being murdered because i didn't know the bad guys intent I was running away with everyone else hey where did the nurse go?
Winnie the Pooh, Blood and Honey: C-
Great at making me terrified, terrible at plot. Before I get into the details, please understand, I had a hard time watching this and for the most part I have an iron stomach, this movie is not for the faint of heart, I will talk about body horror, brutal murder, and torture.
Like I said, this movie does a great job at making me feel genuinely scared, it doesn't have to use a shit ton of jumpscares, by making me scared I have to be scared of the antagonist(s), Winnie the Pooh and Piggy do not care for human life, they will brutally kill, torture, and eat people just for the sake of it, it's even scarier that they're unkillable (at least Pooh is, Piggy got 3 sledgehammer hits to the head and died immediately), theyre incredibly strong and do NOT give up, it feels like you're in the movie and and you're genuinely scared, the first scene really sets the mood for the rest of the movie (WARNING! CANNIBALISM!!!!) (x)
But god the plot sucked, it was.... trying to make me invested in the characters but, did a terrible job at it, and it was also so obvious those were masks and used very little CGI, it looked cheap. It was also entirely too graphic which I feel like is a strength and weakness of the movie, it made me scared but it was also very hard to watch and doesn't make me want to rewatch it (which I dont usually do anyways but i want this movie burned from my memory.
Even though I was never really into Winnie the Pooh as a kid, somehow I feel like my childhood was ruined, so I guess they did their job???
Anyways, if they're any more horror movies you want me to grade, just send them this way

Okay so, I went to see the Five Nights at Freddy's movie last night and...it wasn't what I was expecting at all.
Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it! But I have to look at it like Scotts other endeavors...same base story but very different executions. His games are different from his novels, and this movie is different from both yet draws on all of it to make it's own thing. Not necessarily a bad thing!
No spoilers, but if you're going into this hoping for the scares of the original games, don't. It's not really a scary movie, nor is it a tense movie really, though there are tense moments, its more a black comedy in my opinion as there is a LOT of comedy mixed with the sadness/hopelessness of Mikes story. There are a few jumpscares and a couple of gross/gorey bits but its so dark that most of the gore is just hinted at.
So yeah, the PG13 rating is really an indicator that this movie is not going to be all that scary at all. I do wish that it had gone harder, NC17 or even R, even though Scott said once he didn't want it to go R (I can't find the article where he said that but I do remember it being said...unless I'm just losing my mind lol.) I think that had it been a higher rating and had they been allowed to be scarier it might have been a bit more true to the original story, as its a horrifying story if you really look at it! But alas, we didn't get that and it is kind of sad.
But still it was enjoyable! There is enough in it that fans will be pleased, easter eggs they can scope out in more watchings, and the story was nicely fleshed out I feel and more real than not. Mikes story is a compelling one and explains why he'd take such a crappily paid and dangerous job. The games certainly don't flesh that out at all, and with all things made into movies you NEED that backstory. So I get why some people may think the human element is "boring" but it's needed to explain things in the movie. While we would love nothing more than a one to one recreation of the first game, it's just not feasible in making a movie.
Now, the Henson Company knocked it out of the park with their suits and animatronics, they look so GOOD! And even with no real facial expressions you can tell exactly what the animatronics are feeling, the Henson controllers are just that awesome.
Acting was pretty good...though I think I would have been a bit more WTF if these things were happening to me irl, they all just kind of go with the flow with some minor moments of freaking out. Still very good acting, I just would have wanted a bit more oomph, you know?
Anyways, all in all I think that if you give it a chance and watch it for what it is, a separate story set in the same universe with it's own unique rules and mythos, you'll enjoy it.

❝wanna see a scary movie?❞
Tumblr media
pairing: steve harrington x gn!reader, nancy wheeler x gn!reader, robin buckley x gn!reader, eddie munson x gn!reader, jonathan byers x gn!reader. cw: fluff, flirting, humor. words: 1.9k.
Tumblr media
let’s be honest, steve isn’t here to watch the movie
all he’d heard you say was “do you wanna go see a movie with me-“ and said yes before you finished talking
he’s much more focused on putting the moves on you so he goes all out: buying you all your favorite snacks, getting a slurpee with one straw so you have to share, bringing his jacket even though he doesn’t get cold so he can put it around your shoulders, pushes up the armrest between you two for “extra room”
it’s all fun and games until the first jumpscare happens and steve nearly launches the popcorn bucket into the rafters
bless his heart
he really tries to reset the mood he was making but every time he glances at the screen he just gets sucked into the story, waiting with bated breath for the next big scare
he’s wiggling all around in his seat trying to unlock some new sitting angle to best protect him from the happenings on screen which is fucking hilarious to watch
eventually the couple sitting nearby just up and moves somewhere else because he keeps squealing and whimpering when NOTHING is happening
at one point he’s just sinking into his chair with a hand covering his eyes and when you ask him if he’s okay his voice gets all high-pitched and he goes “nah nah yeah I’m good!! scary fucking movie ahahahaha you sure know how to pick ‘em!”
keeps whispering “fuck fuck fuck fuck” into your neck when the movie starts reaching its climax but he’s also peeking to see if the killer will win
by the time the movie ends he’s gotten to Zero Base with you and has also thoroughly made a fool out of himself, half in your lap and half out of his own seat
he’s blushing scarlet as you walk him out of the theater and ask him how he liked the movie, snickering behind your hand, to which steve shoves his hands in his pockets and goes “‘s alright. could’ve been scarier in my opinion”
super calls you an hour after he dropped you off at home to “talk” and definitely not to “keep him company because he thinks he sees michael myers in his closet”
it’s okay, you leave your window open for the big baby
Tumblr media
robin is ECSTATIC
as a movie buff herself, she is more than pumped to see this movie with you. in fact, she’s probably more pumped to see the movie period
absolute fucking menace at the concession stand
she’s making potions with the popcorn and like three different types of candy, spilling EVERYWHERE (robin you work in retail you should know better)
like steve, she also gets a drink with only one straw to share but she also insists on mixing a few different sodas to make the most unhinged concoction this underpaid teenager working the concession stand has ever seen
talks your ear off before the previews and between the previews but is silent and seated once the movie starts
well… until she starts talking again. she likes to whisper her thoughts in your ear during movies, I stand by this
if you get scared, she slings her arm around your shoulder when no one’s looking and makes jokes that’ll loosen you up
“this killer is ass. how do you miss stabbing someone in the back that badly? my grandmother has better aim and she’s got carpal tunnel”
when the movie’s over, she grabs people’s trash that they leave in their seats and complains about people making messes. she is also People but shhh
it isn’t until you’re away from prying eyes that she slips her hand into yours and smiles into your hair, asking you what you thought of the movie
please ask her what she thinks. she will go on a ramble of horror movie facts with you
she also insists she dress up as the killer and you the final victim for halloween which you laugh about until it’s the week before halloween and she’s standing on your doorstep with your outfits in hand
definitely straddles your lap and does a makeup test with fake blood to see how it will look on the big night. she’s very tender crafting that bloody upper lip of yours.......
if no one else is home, she might even insist she chase you around and try to catch you….. for character accuracy, is all
whatever will you do when she’s got you cornered in your bed, panting and warm to the touch, her plastic knife tipping your chin up for a kiss? beg for your life, of course
Tumblr media
VERY similar to steve in that he is scared out of his fucking mind the entire movie, but unlike steve, he is not hubristic
eddie is 100% only going to this movie with you because he takes any chance to spend time with you regardless of what you end up doing
this man would shuck cow shit with you a field if it meant he got to kiss you in the end (preferably after washing off the cow shit)
wayne had given you the funniest look when you’d stopped by eddie’s and told him where your date would be, but it’s only when you actually get into the theater that you realize why
eddie is terrified of horror movies. I stand by this
this is also something he failed to tell you when you said you wanted to see this movie
the entire time he’s sitting there clutching the seat for dear life. you don’t think he blinks even once
if you try to share snacks with him or ask him if he’s okay, he won’t even turn his head to you to answer
man is glued to the seat like it might eject from the floor and blast him into space any minute
his leg bounces up and down in anxiety and you feel so bad for insisting you see this movie together because now he’s all wired, so you rub his knee in gentle circles and that seems to help some
eventually he stops tensing up just to hold your hand in his clammy one
by the end of the movie, eddie is jumping at nearly every sound
when you get back to the trailer, wayne just gets this smug look on his face and goes “so how’d he do?”
eddie: “I didn’t cry if that’s what you’re insinuating”
wayne: >:D
eventually wayne explains to you that when eddie was little, he couldn’t go see too many movies because he’d always get so spooked and then not sleep the whole night
he’d once caught eddie sitting in the living room with a baseball bat in hand waiting for any ne’er-do-wells to show themselves and from that point on, wayne hadn’t shown him any movies above the rating of pg-13
it’s cute though, because when you inevitably stay the night to comfort eddie, he gets to burrow his face into your chest and falls asleep like a baby
well. until wayne closes the bathroom door too loudly and eddie shoots up with a scream. never again
Tumblr media
nancy is not. excited
it’s nothing to do with you of course!! it’s just that between her and jonathan, she was the one taking mike and the boys out to see the newest releases or renting movies for them at sleepovers only for them to all pile into her room at the end of the night because they were so scared
she’s woken up to a room full of snoring, drooling middle school boys more times than she would have liked
so, needless to say, her track record with scary movies has been very Not fun
but this also means she’s a wall of steel when anything scary happens, trust that she is an expert in her field and will gladly pet your head if you happen to nuzzle into her neck for comfort
probably teases you like “oh, you poor thing” and presses a discreet kiss to your forehead while you’re cowering from the killer
even if you’re not scared, you’re gonna pretend today
if you get too scared, she’ll drag you out of the showing by the hand and the two of you will hang out in the lobby of the theater just talking. she’ll offer to buy you your favorite snack and then scoot close to you to share. she doesn’t have to be practically sitting in your lap to share but.... who are you to complain....
nancy also gets the CUTEST smug look on her face if you insist you’re not scared and then spend the entire movie jumping and shrieking next to her
she’ll tickle the back of your neck with her fingers and laugh when you bounce away from her, warm in the cheeks
she tries not to be a tease but let’s face it. you’re so cute when you’re nervous
eventually she uses your jumpiness to her advantage and invites you to stay the night at hers, sneaking you up to her room where she promises she’ll watch over you in case any scary monsters try to whisk you away in the night
you’re far sweeter to wake up to, after all
Tumblr media
jonathan goes ALL OUT
you can’t tell me this guy doesn’t turn it into a big event
he’s used to sneaking will into scary movies and it became their thing, so expect will trying to tag along with the two of you when he finds out what you’re seeing
you don’t mind of course. especially if it’s a sequel and will insists you all dress up for it
the three of you pick your favorite characters from the movie and joyce is immediately taking pictures of you guys in silly poses
will is still kind enough to give you guys space at the actual movie though. he probably gets dustin max and lucas to meet him there and they sit up in the front row while you and jonathan sit in the back together
mike wasn’t available for el related reasons
you and jonathan spend the entire movie either calling bullshit on recycled plot twists or nudging each other over cameos from old characters
#annoyingnerdcouple
eventually, when the movie starts to drag, jonathan scoots a little closer and asks “is it cold in here or is it just me?”
you glance down at his tattered, fake bloody shirt and snicker “might just be you, champ”
but it’s very obvious what he’s asking, so you push up the armrest between you two and cuddle into his chest, smiling when you feel his nervous hand settle on your hip to pull you closer
after the movie, jonathan doesn’t remove that hand
even when the six of you are squeezing into jonathan’s car and gushing over the movie, jonathan doesn’t release you until he has to slip into the driver’s seat
and even then, he holds out his hand on the console between you two and holds yours the entire way back to everyone’s houses
finally, you’re the last stop
jonathan leaves will in the car to walk you up to your front door
“you better hurry up and get back to will before he accuses me of stealing you from him”
jonathan laughs, “are you kidding? when he gets his driver’s license he’s just gonna ditch me for his friends. he can wait”
you mumble a “oh yeah?” and lean in, brushing your lips over his with the promise of a kiss. jonathan swallows hard around the lump in his throat
just as you’re about to press a kiss to his lips, you press one instead to his cheek, giggling at his shocked expression “let’s not give will too much to tease you over, hm?”

Why is Silence scarier than the Weeping Angels?
Tumblr media
They are two of my favorite villains in the series, and I will give my opinion on which one I find more frightening.
The Angels are creatures that resemble statues and move only when no one is looking directly at them. They feed on energy and usually on temporal energy by sending their victims into the past. They are silent killers. They can transform any living thing in their species when looked directly in the eye, even if it is a recording or image.
Tumblr media
The Silence are humanoid creatures that have a classic alien appearance, with a large head and three fingers on their hands. They can direct electricity and shoot lightning bolts. Their most notable ability is the ability to erase people's memories, so that they will not remember seeing them, and can also be controlled through psychic suggestion.
Tumblr media
Potential is the most determining factor for my point. The fear caused by Angels is based on one factor: jumpscare. When one of them simply jumps on the screen or gets a different expression than they had in the previous frame it causes a very dark mood. The problem with this, and with jumpscares in general, is that the more used the less effective it will be the next time. Throughout the show the Angels are used several times, even too much in some situations, thus losing the sense of fear passed on to the spectators.
The Silence on the other hand causes fear for other factors. Its appearance by itself is bizarre enough to terrify, and the feeling of being pursued all the time that the characters go through in the episodes they appear is distressing. One moment they see them, and the next they simply forget they have seen them. They can be all around you, manipulating your actions, and you don't know it. The whole of humanity has been controlled for centuries by these creatures, and you just don't know it. How do you face something that you don't know exists? Even though the Angels are the most evolved beings in the universe, with practically perfect defense mechanisms, they are just hunters: a pack of wolves chasing their prey in a forest. The Silence on the other hand are creatures designed to live in the shadows, manipulating information and the actions of others according to their goals. They can build empires, and no one can fight them, because they "do not exist" in people's minds. Another important thing is that they were used in the right measure, they appeared in just enough quantity so that they would not become saturated. I like them both very much, I just have a special fondness for Silence.

Crane with a s/o that gets scared easily.
(Gender neutral!)
-My my, aren't you a scaredy cat? He will absolutely adore the noises you make when getting jumpscared by him for the third time today after he simply swifts from being beside you to disappearing in the dark behind a wall and then reappearing again close to your face saying "Boo!"
-There's no safe time for you when Jon is around. If you lose him out of your point of view be sure of two things: 1- He is interested in something else in the other room. 2- He is right behind you and his fingers are already crawling up in the back of your neck before another "boo!" gently blows in your ear
-Seriously, even he will wonder how the hell do you get startled so easily? He will start to think you're just pretending but then after seeing the absolute panic painted in your face when an insect started flying in the room, it was proven to him that yes… you were scared easily.
-Funny enough when you get scared from something else that isn't one of Jon's antics, (for example a movie he recommended you two to watch) he will gladly hold your shaking frame just to feel your panicked heartbeat, while trying his best not to smirk over the scene of your arms shivering. Such a sight to behold.
-Although he enjoys seeing the bright terror in your eyes, Jon has learned about your limits too well to know when to stop. He doesn't see any sort of pleasure when seeing you cry. The first time he actually did see you shedding tears out of fear from playing a horror game it made him feel kinda guilty. Jon then realises he just likes your scared expression, not your suffering one.
-Even if his whole signature is about causing people to feel their deepest fears for his own morbid curiosity, Jon feels quite satisfied with just the surface of your fears, as generic and normal as they can be. However, if you catch your own gut and manage to sit with him to talk about some of your real traumas, he will not only play his professional psychology role and assist you to face it better but will also be so proud of you.
Imagine, you are revealing your worst fears for the one who is known to weaponize them against you. Jon sees it as a massive signal of trust you have with him and as much as he is loving your spooked expression when talking about them, he will take this as a personal treasure. A private moment that only you two know about.
-Since then, it's up to you. Jon will offer his hand of help if you're willing to face your fears and try to overcome them, he knows how it feels and has a large experience on the matter.
If you feel like you are not ready or simply prefer to keep living this way, he will respect your decision and keep your traumas locked in his head as a secret.
-Keep in mind that the everyday little jumpscares will still occur.
Bonus:
"It's not a phobia, trust me. It's an expected reaction you have from the unknown of said subject. Especially after such… inconvenient events from your past." Jon finishes his talk with you sitting at the other end of the small table in your kitchen. He usually spent the whole afternoon with you during weekends before leaving again when night began to fall. Not that he was hiding from you about his underground work but this routine simply suited well between both you and him, since you aimed to maintain your normal life and Jon his hidden one both safe.
"I don't know, it's just so tiring sometimes to me like I don't want to react but yet I can't control it." You speak kinda upset, gripping your fists that were landing on the table.
"It's the opposite, my dear. Fear controls us. Our only chance is to accept and overcome it eventually if the chance appears." He replies to your frustration as calmly as if reciting a poem.
"I don't think I can do it. Hell, you've seen me freaking out because of a ridiculous small spider last week." Your attempt to lift the mood with a laugh fails as Jon keeps looking at you with a blank expression, making you look down embarrassed.
"That's why I'm here to offer you help. To give you this chance."
Still looking down, you meditate in silence about his words for a moment. Doubt still made it seem unclear as to how you would win your trauma. Lacking any idea of a viable option at the moment from yourself.
A gentle metallic noise snaps you from your thoughts. Your eyes catch the image of a syringe containing an orange liquid inside resting on the table in the space between you and Jon. He retracts his hand away from the item, folding the small secret pocket from inside his coat in which he took it out previously.
Meeting your gaze, Jon brings his hands up to his chin, intertwining his fingers and resting his elbows on the table, not breaking the eye contact he fixed with yours, though his eyes were hidden by the bright white his glasses reflected from the room's lightning.
"Of course, the choice will be yours." He reassures you about your position.
You switch your focus back to the syringe and remember clearly what is Jon's speciality together with the dangers of it. He maintains his silence, allowing you to face your own indecision before you finally speak.
"Alright. I will take the chance."
If it weren't for his hands close to his face, it wouldn't be able for him to hide his devilish smirk.
You two rearrange the chairs to be closer now, Jon assumes the position of medical administration and holds your arm gently as the slim shadow of the syringue hovers above your skin.
"I want you to know the dose will be low to not last long but enough for the chemicals to work properly. Understand?"
You nod.
"Are you sure about this?"
Once again you nod while feeling a chill sensation in your stomach. You were scared, of course you were and he knew it too. However, it was your choice.
The syringe needle sinks in the surface of your skin and slowly makes its length disappear and appear again from the spot, injecting the unholy fear substance in your blood course. The sting pain is then replaced by a numb sensation following up to your arm shaking. Your heart begins to race and you can feel sweat forming in your forehead. Wiping it with the back of your hand, you realise that your hand feels heavier than before and checking the reason for it, you're met with the vision of your skin succumbing to putrid flesh as insects start coming out of what were supposed to be your nails.
Desperation hits, you notice Jon's form switching to something darker, scarier and menacing, but his mouth remains in a serene smile before it moves to speak.
"Now tell me, what do you see?"

As someone getting into podcasts, I’ve seen a lot of stuff about popular podcasts on here, and the one I’m the most confused about is The Magnus Archives. I know from some Tumblr posts and such that it’s a horror podcast, but could you maybe share what you like about it? I’m curious because I do think it seems like something worth getting into, but I also would like some info on it before I try it out, as I’m a huge D&D nerd so my podcast experience is limited to that. Anything you could share would be nice, and I do apologize for the long ask on podcasts. Thank you for whatever you give on it
First off I will say that The Magnus Archives (TMA) is a horror anthology spanning 200 episodes that have a primary focus on individual paranormal encounters from different people that have been submitted as written statements to an organisation called The Magnus Archives. The plot picks up with the arrival of Jonathan Sims, the new head archivist, who is tasked with organising and digitising the archive of supernatural statements. The secondary focus of the podcast is on the lives of the archival team that work with or interact with Jonathan Sims.
Secondly, I like TMA because it succeeds where a lot of indie horror productions fail because they focus on audio horror rather than having to make visual horror on a tight budget, especially considering much of TMA is cosmic horror and uncanny valley horror. Sometimes when small scale projects (for example; youtube short films) try to visually depict horror that is described as "impossible" or "indescribable" or "always shifting," it's really hard to capture that without a big budget for effects - TMA has some really talented audio engineers and writers, so they can weave a really tight tapestry of spooky intrigue within the limited medium of the podcast.
At least for me, while TMA is certainly a horror podcast, it isn't a necessarily scary podcast - everyone has different fear triggers, and certain episodes do creep me right out, but you aren't going to be jumpscared by an episode, nor feel the need to pause or skip it for being too scary, at least in my experience! One of the scarier episodes is an early one, MAG 15: Lost Johns' Cave, and even though it was horrible to imagine myself living that scenario, it is still a statement told after the event has occurred, so there's an element of safety within the fear. I don't think this is a bad thing at all - quite the contrary - because its still thrilling to listen to, just not full on terrifying. It makes the barrier for listening to it pretty low so non-horror and horror fans alike enjoy it. It's also very easy to get through like a dozen episodes while drawing, which is a big plus for me!
Finally, I know the image on the internet focuses a lot on the reoccurring characters and the romance angle, but honestly for the first 2 seasons its very light on interpersonal drama and reoccurring characters (for a lot of people, they don't even realise until the end of S1 that there's an external plot outside the individual horror stories, so don't worry about it too much) I don't think its for everyone, but if you're interested in horror and you want short-form audio content, definitely give TMA a go!

spring troupe and gender neutral s/o watch horror movies
about time i finally write for this blog... i was hit with the image of masumi watching a horror movie with his s/o, thought how lovely it would be if there was content of that, then realized i have that power now
word count: 1,935
tags: established relationship, non-detailed mentions of horror themes (gore, monsters, etc)
sakuya sakuma
🌸 when the topic of a horror movie date first comes up, he’s a bit scared. he’s only seen a couple, one of which was for mankai play research.
🌸 when it’s actually showing, though, he’s pretty calm! the anticipation was the worst part, and he somehow doesn’t get scared even during the most terrifying movie of the year. he’s great at reminding himself it’s just fictional in the end
🌸 vampires? not scary. aliens? he thinks they’re cute! gore? well, yeah, it’s unnerving at first but it’s all fake, and once he reminds himself of that he’s fine
🌸 he gets scared at the littlest things though. there might be a continuity error where a knife is in its holder on the counter in one shot and then removed the next, and no one in the movie acknowledges it nor is it supposed to mean anything but he can and will psych himself out thinking about just what moved it
🌸 king of predicting plot twists! he might be very good at spotting continuity errors, but he’s even better at picking out little bits of foreshadowing and putting together the mystery
🌸 gets spooked the most by jumpscares. every time he squeaks a bit (on really bad ones he might scream) and every time he always does the same embarrassed sigh afterwards and goes to squeeze your hand to calm himself
🌸 psychological horror is definitely the best pick for sakuya. he thinks a lot about what’ll happen next in the movie and loves to discuss about movies with you regardless of the genre, so with thought-provoking psychological films it fits him like a glove
🌸 and hey, if things ever get too intense he loves b-list horror movies! he thinks the bad acting is endearing and always finds something to compliment even with the trashiest, corniest flick
🌸 if you ever get uncomfortable, he might commentate in the movie and try to poke fun at it- i mean, the killer clown is kind of funny! look how bright and colorful it is compared to the rest of the set! he keeps his voice light and sunny so you have something comforting to concentrate on
masumi usui
🎧 he loves the idea of horror night. cuddling with you, holding you protectively as the suspense rises, stealing kisses to distract you from the monster and erase your fear...
🎧 he’s only seen a few horror movies in his life, less than the fingers he has on one hand, but whatever. it’s a movie. it’s not real. if he got too immersed he could just tell himself it’s fake and be done with it.
🎧 spoiler alert: he didn’t.
🎧 masumi did not, and i repeat, did NOT expect to get so invested??? even if you’re scared, he’s definitely the most terrified
🎧 that’s not to say he’ll show it. he’s doing everything to keep a neutral face, and you’ll probably assume he’s holding to you tighter during the scary parts like he’s protecting you.
🎧 (it’s actually because you’re the one [1] thing grounding him. you’re protecting him, not the other way around! in hindsight, he likes being cared for even when he thought he’d be the one spoiling you, not the other way around. he just wishes it didn’t have to be during such a scary movie, that’s all)
🎧 will take his fear to the grave... unless you ask him directly about it. please hold him and tell him the monsters aren’t real, even though he’s a heavy sleeper he will stay up until 3 am, his mind reminding him how creepy the movie was every time he’s about to drift off
🎧 so does not fuck with ghosts, if he didn’t believe in them before he certainly does now. the poor guy looks up how to ward away spirits and ends up carrying around a salt packet on him for the next two weeks
tsuzuru minagi
📖 tsuzuru’s not exactly a horror fan. he claims it’s brainless and pointless
📖 (admittedly he’s a little scared of them, but he still thinks they’re dependent on shock alone, and have zero rewatch value since the writing is more focused on in-the-moment spooks than actual plot.)
📖 he’ll roll his eyes and tease you a little but eventually he’ll go along with watching a horror movie
📖 to psych himself out of his fear tsuzuru decides to watch them critically and note what plot points to do (or more likely not to do) for future plays
📖 this works out for the beginning but by the middle of the movie he’s enraptured. he can’t tell if it’s actually good or if it’s a car wreck he can’t help but watch
📖 does the corny move where he yawns and wraps an arm around you, and you’d almost buy it from his earlier cynicism but then the killer shows their face and he tenses up like hell and you just know
📖 gets embarrassed every time he’s scared- he even turns pink, and gets even redder if you try to hold his hand or cuddle him closer (even though there’s nothing he’d want more after something that creepy)
📖 by the end he’s got a few new ideas that might go to autumn or winter troupe’s latest plays, and admits okay, fine, maybe horror isn’t so pointless after all
itaru chigasaki
🎮 screw movies, you’re playing horror games instead!
🎮 most of itaru’s horror games are single-player, so one of you takes the controller while the other sits next to the player, but itaru’ll drape his arms around you from behind in a back hug the entire time you play
🎮 he doesn’t really shut up. the entire time, he’s either cracking a joke or trying to freak you out more, if only so he doesn’t get in his head and overthink the creepy atmosphere
🎮 asshole only quiets down when the game gets tense, and then suddenly puts his hands around your shoulders or neck to scare you. regardless if you fall for it or not, he always laughs at himself and just-so-happens to break the tension as a scary cutscene plays
🎮 still commentates when he’s the player, but gasps or jumps even at small atmospheric scares
🎮 itaru definitely overthinks the game. he gets super cautious over tiny details and makes the missions way harder than they should be since he keeps overestimating the enemy line of sight and how noisy the avatar is
🎮 if you happen to be playing a co-op horror it’s a constant “no u” battle over who should do the scariest tasks
🎮 “reader, we need to cleanse the room next. you should do it” “no, you should do it. you have the quartz item remember” “i can give it to you since you have the ghost ward” “the ghost ward doesn’t apply to this quest, besides, you’re better at this ghost attack quick time event than me” “no it does, and you’re more optimized” “i can just give the items to you-“ “no you should do it” “no you” “no you” “no you” “no y-”
🎮 you both lose
citron
🍋 citron loves horror movies! he thinks they’re... comforting?
🍋 turns out he’s only seen movies about cursed dolls and b-horror, which explains a lot- he loves dolls too much to be scared by them and he thinks b-list horror is hilarious- but he’ll still proudly proclaim he’s unflappable and swear to protect you from the bad guys
🍋 when you’re actually watching the movie you can’t tell if he’s faking his reactions or not. he’s very noisy
🍋 he gets scared enough during the gruesome and horrific scenes to hold you close and tight like a teddy bear, and during the worst of it he might muffle a scream by diving into the crook of your neck, obscuring his vision until the scene changes
🍋 and yet, he laughs at the next scene’s unrealism, and manages to poke enough fun at the movie that you giggle and his terror disappears, he loves your laugh way more than he can be afraid of monsters
🍋 can’t do gore for the life of him, but when it comes to the actual plot, he’s rather critical of characters acting dumb. he catches on to nonsensical writing quick, but usually asks you to clarify the plot holes before realizing that he found a loophole in the writing
🍋 whenever you’re scared and not even his goofy reactions and commentary can help, he plants a sweet kiss on your cheek, strokes your hair, and holds you close to his chest until the fear goes away. he’s surprisingly good at protecting you from the movie
🍋 after the movie he’ll say his country has a similar legend to the movie monsters, but he claims the legends are true in zafra, and zafrans have a very specific tradition to prevent the monsters from attacking them
🍋 the movie also gave citron the idea of creepily standing behind you silently until you turn around and get startled, or occasionally chanting in a strange, cultish language and pretending he didn’t say a thing, or making a doll with the same markings as the clown puppet from the movie...
🍋 citron continues to be even scarier than the actual horror movie, but can’t wait until the next horror night! maybe watching it was a bad idea after all...
chikage utsuki
🌙 chikage just doesn’t get the appeal of horror. it’s just a fake movie, why do people get so creeped out by terrible sfx and unrealistic monsters?
🌙 he’s seen scarier things than any werewolf pack, zombie outbreak, or witch coven can throw at him. if you insist on watching a scary movie, fine, he’ll be happy to let you sit on his lap, just don’t expect to creep him out as well, or else you’ll be sorely disappointed.
🌙 he analyzes the movie more than he watches it, but doesn’t speak up even though the fight scenes look pitiful. if this were real life, he’d sweep the whole brood of shambling monstrosities in record time and be back home in time for izumi’s curry
🌙 chikage runs his hands under your shirt whenever the monster’s on screen to scare you. it’s actually really creepy- his fingers are light and quick and always makes you flinch, even if you know it’s just your boyfriend
🌙 he’ll listen to your thoughts about the movie, but doesn’t have strong opinions himself. he thinks the scares are mediocre at best, even without considering his background, but won’t mention how unrealistic it was unless you mention it first.
🌙 psychological horror, however, is a whole different story
🌙 maybe chikage can’t get scared by generic spirit halloween monsters but once you introduce thought-provoking plot, questions and dilemmas, now he’s hooked
🌙 he really likes wondering if the protagonist is actually the good guy and making theories about the origins of the monsters and why they’re so destructive, even if he forgets about them once the movie’s over.
🌙 love love looooves the “the monsters were harmless creatures before humans dished out the first blow” trope. he knows how common it is, but there’s a lot of ways to go about it, especially on a subtextual level, and he just can’t get enough
🌙 the deeper the plot is, expect a longer conversation about the ins and outs of it. they get surprisingly thoughtful and introspective, even if chikage throws in a few bullshit stories related to the movie just to watch you squirm

Could you tell us why you didn’t like FFPS? On the story I personally think afton’s story is over HW and SB should have been afton passing the torch to a new killer (vanny) it should have been about her and afton should have stayed dead.
I definitely agree SB should've passed the torch from Afton to Vanny, and I feel like there's numerous ways they could've done so without having to bring him along for it.
There's actually a few reasons I don't like FFPS and it really has more to do with the gameplay than the story. Though I don't like how the story is shown in contrast to the content.
1. The dead, dull office.
Taking a massive step back from Sister Location- and even its secret final night- FFPS sticks you in an ugly office with no cameras, thereby giving nothing visual to look at, and expects you to effectively wait in one spot. It looks worse than FNAF 1's office, you can't even see the animatronics at all until the jumpscares, and it leaves the whole segment especially boring.
Even in Fnaf 4 you could peek out and see animatronics. It doesn't make the game scarier, it just takes out more of the game. Less content, less impact.
2. FFPS isn't actually a simulator.
The game was advertised with being able to run your own pizzeria, but it was really the bare minimum. There were a few little time wasters, but it was a letdown. I get that the simulator part was just a bait-and-switch, but considering the gameplay... Yeah.
Though I did like the Fruity Maze minigame. I wish there was an extended version or a fanmade one.
3. The poorly executed lore dump.
At the end of the game, a man who you may not know suddenly talks at you for a few minutes and the franchise ends in an anticlimactic flop that's supposed to be a sweet ending. Without the context, it's confusing and unimpactful. With the context, it's disappointing.
Not to mention that up until that point, there's really no story. It's not like you're watching a plot progress. You just get nothing and then there's the ending telling you everything all at once.
Exposition, my mortal enemy.
4. Every step forward Sister Location took was stepped back.
-Gameplay outside the office, but with office segments. -A more complete storyline going over the 'nights'. -A custom night mode. -A wider look at the location (even if mostly in shadow).
I get that FFPS was a free game... but it didn't have to be? I don't really find that as a defense, because releasing it for free was a choice. It wasn't an obligation. This was supposed to be a finale of some kind, so it could've taken all the time it needed.
.
So, that's it. That's why I don't like FFPS. I'm sure people think it's because of the puppet reveal, lol. I mean, that almost messed up my story at the time, but that wasn't a big deal. That wasn't why I was disappointed playing FFPS, y'know?
Despite my criticism of Security Breach, I actually enjoyed my time with it more than FFPS. XD

Birthday Present for Ray: Oumota!!
A BIRTHDAY PRESENT FOR MY CATTO RAY @detectiveseapancake !!! 🎉 🍰 I wanted to surprise him with some oumota fluff this time~! I hope that you will love it lots and enjoy it once u read it Ray, and that it can make for a great gift for you!
Summary: Kaito was egged on by Kokichi, as per usual; this time, to brave through a horror movie as they have an impromptu sleepover over at Kaito’s dorm room. Of course, Kaito still screamed his lungs out, which made for very entertaining reactions for the surpeme leader to see. After teasing him about it, Kaito starts chasing Kokichi around the room, which leads to him glomping the boy down on the bed, and, from there: soft, intimate moments between the two, as they secretly harbor feelings for one another...
So yeah, I wanted to go for something silly, but soft and cute! And to try my hand at writing some oumota cause I don’t believe I have before, nor as Kaito at least as like... one of the main characters in a one-shot: so this was honestly really fun to write and that it’ll put a smile on your face, Ray! You always deserve to have one... ilu~!  and once more, I hope you’ll enjoy... ❤️ and if anyone else gives this a read, thank you! May you enjoy, too!!
A sleepover with Kokichi, watching a horror movie: never the sequence of events Kaito Momota expected. Earlier that day, Kokichi had been egging him on, teasing him about the fact that he ‘wouldn’t have the balls’ to sit through a horror movie in its entirety. Kaito, being the very hardheaded man that he is, took the bait as always, accepted his challenge. Granted, the ‘sleepover’ part was slyly slipped in by Kokichi, who practically invited himself to stay over in Kaito’s dorm room for the night. Kaito let it slide, though: since he oddly... didn’t mind the thought of Kokichi spending the night over in his dorm room; but he still regretted the stupid decision to watch a horror movie, though. ‘It’s said to be so scary, you’ll want to sleep with the light on for days!!!’ So declared the supreme leader, though Kaito hopes to god he was just lying.
Now here he was, trying not to look as distressed as he is as Kokichi starts setting up the DVD player. He had even brought snacks, popcorn, and drinks to Kaito’s room once he arrived. He had already arrived in his pajamas, which was a simple loose white t shirt and checkerboard pajama pants. His hair looked messier as usual... and while Kaito did tease that he looks more like a disheveled rat... he’d never admit that, for a second... he found him kind of cute. Kaito himself was wearing a NASA tank shirt with black loungepants. His hair wasn’t even up in his usual style, wearing it down. It wasn’t often Kokichi had seen it like that. He teased in turn that Kaito looked like a nerd, but: he thinks he actually looks really attractive with his hair down, too. But just like Kaito: Kokichi would die before he’d ever admit that.
“It’s starting, Momota-chaaan...”  Ominously muses Kokichi with a sneery smile, a finger up to his lips. “And like I told you before; if you even think of trying to fly out of this room... I’ll strap you to a chair and torture you!” Which was clearly a lie, but he really wouldn’t allow Kaito to chicken out.
Clicking his tongue, Kaito rests his arms on the back of his head while his back leans against  the side of his bed. “Whatever. I told you I’m not gonna do that! No stupid horror movie can faze the luminary of the stars!” Which he wish he could’ve said with more confidence, if not for the slight hesitation in his voice giving it away. Even if it was obvious as day to literally everyone, Kaito still refuses to admit how terrified he is of paranormal things. He just hopes he seriously won’t have the urge to fly out of the room, or he’d never be able to live it down.
“Yeahhh, whatever you say.” Once the movie began, the two grew silent. The beginning of the movie starts off normal, nothing bad or eventful happening quite yet. Even then, Kaito couldn’t say he was exactly relaxed: he’s just anticipating the moment where things go south real fast. And unfortunately for him: barely 30 minutes into the movie and things were already starting to get much more creepier and ominous. A lightly shaking hand goes to shovel more popcorn into his mouth, bracing himself for what he’s sure will be an eventual jumpscare any moment. As he was snacking on his konpeito and sipping his panta, Kokichi occasionally glanced over at him to read his expressions, snickering to himself. He just knows he’s going to get some very great and funny ones. In fact, he slowly brings wriggling fingers closer to Kaito’s waist, the unsuspecting man not even paying attention to him as he was so focused on mentally preparing himself to get scared. One his hands were close enough, Kokichi firmly clasps his sides while yelling out a sharp: “HAH!!”
“GGHGHKK-?!” Kaito jumped so badly in his spot that some of the popcorn flew out of the bucket, most of it hitting the floor. "Wh-What?! Wh-OUMA!" Snarling, he slams the popcorn bucket down on the table. "Don't fucking DO that, you little cu-" But seconds later, the actual jumpscare in the movie happens, the face of a scary looking ghost suddenly popping onto the screen with a screeching wail. "AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!"
"PFFTT, hahaha!!!" Kokichi starts bursting out laughing, nearly choking on his panta as he had to quickly stop drinking it. "H-Heheh, aww, did the Big Cweepy Ghost scaaare you, Momo-cha-HURK!" His wheezing laughter was cut off by bigger arms suddenly wrapping around his waist and squeezing the smaller boy tightly, nearly squeezing the oxygen out of him. "M-Momota....cha..?!"
"IT'S THE SPIRIT OF THE VENGEFUL LITTLE GIIIIIIRL!!!" And squeezes Kokichi even tighter, not even noticing he had grabbed him yet.
A choked gasp, he starts trying to pull Kaito off of him, wheezing out: LET ME GO, YOU IDIOT!"
"Ah-" Now realizing he had been clinging onto Kokichi. He instantly lets go of him, huffing as he rubs the back of his head an embarrassed blush on his face. "S...Sorry..."
"Geez..." Huffs Kokichi with a childish pout. He quickly darts his face away to hide the light tinge of pink on it. While he didn't appreciate having his lungs practically squeezed out; the fact that Kaito would instinctively cling onto even him, made him oddly happy inside... As the movie progressed, Kaito tried to endure the scarier scenes, sometimes being able to stifle a scream, but most of the time still screaming his lungs out. He had Kokichi continue to laugh so hard, tears pricked at the corners of his eyes, albeit at the cost of being clung onto very tightly at times. "Nishishi, Momo-chan looks like he's gonna pee his pants!"
"N-No I'm fucking NOT-GYAAAAAAH!!" A jumpscare from a creepy haunted doll made him cup Kokichi's hand, squeezing it very tightly. "That laugh is so damn creepy!!!"
Kokichi winced a bit from how tightly he squeezed his hand, chortling as an amused smile widened on his face. "Aww, does Momota-chan want me to protect hiiim~?"
Giving a flustered grumble, Kaito instantly snatches his hand away. "G-Go fuck yourself!!"
"Fuck me yourself, coward!"
"Shut upppp!!"
Despite the several near heart attacks he had, Kaito surprisingly made no attempts to fly out of the room. It honestly impressed Kokichi, who was highly expecting him to do so at some point. Funny as it would’ve been to see him do so... he admittedly would’ve been disappointed. The dare he gave Kaito aside... he really did want to have a sleepover with him. Something about Kaito truly just interested the supreme leader. While he still did find him a big, loud idiot a lot of the time; he was so fun to tease, and always went along with Kokichi’s antics, even if it because he was easily egged on most of the time. When they have their petty arguments, Kaito’s chasing him down a hall or even the rare times they actually just talk casually without being at each other’s throats: Kokichi finds it fun. Maybe that’s why he found himself being drawn to Kaito, wanting to find excuses to spend alone time with him. The astronaut made him giddy in a way most others couldn’t.
Eventually, the movie finally comes to an end. Kokichi starts applauding as if it was the best movie he’s ever seen. “Hooraaay! What a great movie that was! Simply moving! Right, Momota-chan?”
“Uuuuugghghhhhhhhhh.....” Meanwhile, Kaito looks as pale as the ghosts in the film, slumped against the edge of the bed with a grim look on his face. It was a shock to even himself that he didn’t damage all his vocal chords from how much he screamed, now even more grateful Kokichi was going to sleep over tonight: there was no way he’d be able to get some sleep otherwise... though the fact Kokichi being here with him eases his paranoia a bit, was honestly embarrassing. “Simply moving”, my ass...” He groans, voice sounding noticeably hoarse. “But h.....ha! Didn’t I tell you? I wasn’t going to run out of the room: that movie was nothing! I only pretended to be as “scared” as I actually was-WASN’T!” He quickly ‘corrects’ himself as he points a finger at Kokichi in declaration.
“...............”
“D-Don’t look at me like that! I still won the damn challenge, didn’t I?!”
“Mmmn... I guess so. How boring... I was so waiting for you to fly out of that door, so I could torture you..” He sighs, looking so dissatisfied.. until a smile instantly lights back up on his face. “But that’s a lie! I truly would have been disappointed if you did run out the room. I guess even Momota-chan can break my expectations every once in a while, hmm?”
“Heh... is that so? Are you finally admitting that you find me cool?” Quips Kaito with a playfully arrogant smirk on his face as he throws his arm around Kokichi’s shoulders. “You always talking shit, thinking you alllways have me figured out... but I’m not as easy as you think I am! Try harder next time.”
Kokichi was actually stunned for a moment. Kaito, who usually just gets irritated with him: looked not only amused by what he said, but even had the nerve to playfully tease him back with that cocky smirk on his face. “Wh... h-hmph!! Momo-chan’s getting awfully cocky, isn’t he?!” He huffs, balling his fists as a notable blush creeps onto his cheeks. “Geez! After I actually bothered to say something nice about you for once.”
"Heheh...” Kaito noticed the blush on Kokichi’s face this time: cute, he thinks to himself. It felt nice to be the one to tease the other for once, when it was usually the other way around. Kaito didn’t know why he suddenly found himself wanting to do that more often: to seep reactions out of the supreme leader that he normally doesn’t show. Just like how Kokichi found himself having fun with Kaito... deep down, Kaito felt the same with the supreme leader. While he still found him to be an ‘irritating little shit’.... it was starting to be a fond way, now.
Wanting to wipe that smirk off Kaito’s face, and to hide his own flustered one: Kokichi suddenly snakes his hands into Kaito’s shirt to lightly tickle his sides. “Coochy coooo~!”
“H-Heheeeek-?!” Kaito jumps from the ticklish feel of fingers dancing along his bare skin. He instantly clasps a hand over his mouth as he scurries away from the boy, cheeks red in embarrassment from the noise he emitted. “Y-You motherfu-!”
“Nishishi! Ehhh, what did I dooo? What a cute noise you made just now, Momo-chan~!” He giggles, being finding himself suddenly dodging a pillow that was thrown at him. “Oop! Haha, missed meeee!”
“You little-!!” And with that, Kaito started to chase Kokichi around the room, the shorter boy laughing heartily as he avoids being grabbed by the other at each attempt.
“Catch me, catch meee~!”
“I’ll get ya, Ouma!!” And yet; Kaito wasn’t even trying to hide the smile that widens on his face, looking as if he’s having the time of his life trying to chase the boy down in the small room. Unlike when he usually chased him, it was completely in a playful sense, finding himself laughing along with Kokichi as he tried reaching for the boy. Kokichi had even jumped on top of the bed, making mocking expressions at Kaito as he taunts him.
“Over here, over here~!” And just as he was about to hop right off the bed when Kaito came closer-”Ah-!” Kokichi lost his balance, landing on his butt on the bed.
“Gotcha-!” Kaito took that perfect opportunity to literally lunge at and pin the boy down onto the bed. While he made sure not to grip his wrists too tightly, he still had a slightly firm hold on him as he smirks down at the boy triumphantly. “Hah! You were saying, Ouma?”
“..............” But instead of pouting, whining, or acting like a sore loser: Kokichi just.... stares up at him wide-eyed. Here he was, pinned down to the bed by Kaito. Purple eyes looking up at similar purple ones, faces close to each other. “Ahh....”
“?” Oblivious to his unusually quiet reaction, Kaito’s eyebrows furrow in confusion as he tilts his head. “...What? What’s with up with y...ah.” But once he registers the position that they are in, now he understands. “U...Uhhh....”
“M....M-Momo-chan....” Cheeks turn a dark shade of red as he feels unable to look away from the boy, eyes half-lidded. He purses his lips, feeling his heart pounding hard in his chest. "A-Are you gonna... lean down and kiss me, now? Like in those cheesy shoujo mangas...? A-Ahh, I’m not mentally prepared...” He whines, shyly darting his eyes away. And just as it looks as if he was being serious... “...SIIIIIIIIIIIKE!” A shit-eating grin instantly widens on his face, cackling as he looks back at him. “How was my ‘hopeless romantic shoujo girl’ impression, hmm? Did you fall for it, did you fall for it?!”
“Wha-wha.....wh....” Kaito’s own heart was pounding at the major shift of the mood so quickly. Thinking that Kokichi was being serious for a moment- “...Huh.” And then just stares at him when he pulled that ‘it was a joke!’ card at the last minute. “.....A....A-As if.....” Clenching his teeth, now his face was really red as he instantly flies off of the boy, crossing his arms as he turns his head away. “A-As if anyone w-w-would wanna kiss YOU! O-Of course I wasn’t going to do that!!!”
“Nishishi...~!” Despite his little act, the blush on his face was certainly real. And the rapid pounding of his heart at that very moment, too. “Mmnn that’s because Momota-chan wouldn’t dare kiss me.”
“Huh?!” Kaito instantly looks back his way, balling his fist as he retaliates: “You callin’ me a coward?! I so could if I wanted to!”
“Ohhh?” A sharp inhale, Kokichi dares to say: “Then do it: I dare you.”
“.....!” Kaito Momota was one who was very easily baited into doing dares whenever he felt himself being mocked or taunted; but even he’d have more than enough common sense than to do something as intimate as kissing someone just because they egged him on. If he didn’t like the person or straight up would not feel comfortable or okay with kissing them, he’d refuse to do so, not caring if it’d seemed he was ‘chickening out.’ And yet, with Kokichi... he didn’t want to say ‘no.’ In a way, it was as if he wanted to use stubborn tendencies as an excuse to not back down. Why was that, he wonders...? Or maybe the answer wasn’t an confusing as he likes to think it is. Gulping, Kaito finally gives him a response... in the form of a confident nod. “F-Fine. I’ll show you that Kaito Momota ain’t no chicken!”
“.....” For a second, genuine surprise showed on Kokichi’s face. He absolutely did not expect Kaito to actually go through with it. Was it only because he dared him? Would Kaito do this with just anyone if they taunted him like Kokichi did? He didn’t want to think about that, burying the self-doubt that he may not be a special exception. No, he wanted to think he was: that only he would be someone Kaito was willing to kiss. “...Well?” Smiling, Kokichi crawls closer to him. “I’m waitiiiing~!”
Despite agreeing to do this, Kaito honestly couldn’t believe this was actually happening. One moment, they were watching a moment together; and now, he was about to kiss the supreme leader. For some reason, an unfamiliar kind of nervousness started to bubble up in him. Why was he so nervous, he thinks to himself. It’s just a kiss! Just give him one kiss and it’s over with: but he wasn’t thinking like that. Rather... he didn’t want to mess this up. Didn’t want to give him a half-assed kiss, as it’d have no feeling to it. Quickly shaking his head of such ‘sappy’ thoughts, a hand slowly goes to cup the other’s chin. “Y...You’re gonna get a kiss from the Luminary of the Stars, himself! You’d better feel lucky!” He declares, trying to joke around to hopefully shake off some of the nervousness and rapid pounding of his heart.
His heart thumps hard in his chest when Kaito cups his chin like that. He’s almost happy he made that ridiculous declaration, chortling to help distract himself from how nervous he was. “Whatever you say, Momota-chan. Now come onnn....” He impatiently whines as he closes his eyes. “Do it alreadyyyy....”
“Alright, alright...” Taking a deep exhale, Kaito starts to lean his face in more. Wriggling lips are forced to keep steady as their faces become closer and closer. He can hear the soft breathing of the other, their bangs brushing against each other’s. With lips so close, they are barely brushing together... if he leans in any closer, their lips will surely meet. Kokichi could also feel just how much closer Kaito was, stifling a muffled whine. Any minute, their lips were going to meet. He was going to be kissed by Kaito... the already lack of patience was making the anticipation kill him, almost tempted to whine to him again to hurry up... until he finally feels lips softly press against his.
“Mmn...” Kokichi feels his heart flutter in his chest, slowly processing this very moment. He jokingly expected a rough or sloppy kiss, considering it was Kaito; and yet, it felt so soft, so gentle... as if Kaito wanted to make sure he was careful. A quiet hum vibrating through him, Kokichi already found himself indulging in the nice feeling of his lips, pressing his own against Kaito’s more firmly, ever so slightly.
Kaito also found himself loving the feeling of Kokichi’s soft lips... the hand he was using to cup Kokichi’s chin, he finds himself stroking it gently with his thumb. He felt Kokichi press his lips firmer against his, making a quiet sigh leave him as he dares to do the same. Even if he did this under the excuse of being ‘dared’ to... he didn’t want it to end. He wanted to kiss him for as long as he could before it would have to end. And once it did, when he eventually has to pull away so they could breathe... their heated faces are still so close.
“M...Momo-chan...” His voice is barely above a whisper. As much as he wanted to tease him about the fact that he definitely used this dare as an excuse to kiss him... right now, he just wanted to indulge in that feeling again. So before he knew it, arms would go to link around Kaito’s neck as he nestles himself in his lap. Nuzzling their foreheads together, he utters: “....One more...”
Maybe it was the heat of the moment; or maybe it was the boy not caring to deny how badly he truly was crushing on the supreme leader, with the other secretly returning those feelings... that Kaito doesn’t have to think twice about it. Arms going to immediately wrap around the smaller boy’s waist, he nods and gives a simple: “Yeah...” Before he leans in once more, Kokichi meeting him halfway as they close the distance in a kiss. One that’s still soft, but even firmer as they both quickly deepen it. Soft sighs and hums emit from them, Kokichi occasionally giving Kaito’s lips quick pecks in between the kiss. It makes a low, content hum seep from Kaito, who presses deeper and slower pecks to Kokichi’s lips in turn.
And even once that kiss is over, they still did not want to stop: but they did need to catch their breath, and the thought of their kisses growing even more passionate was a bit much for them to handle right now, when their hearts already felt like they could burst out of their chests. So simply giving each one last quick peck, they break away from the kisses for good. “N...Nishishi....” He breathes out a soft giggle in between pants. “Momo-chan’s.... not so bad to kiss. And that isn’t a lie...”
“Y...Y-Yeah, well: you’re not so bad yourself, Ouma...” He also utters in between deep pants. His face felt like it was on fire, only having a bit of solace when seeing how deeply red Kokichi’s own face was. “Can’t believe I really just... fucking kissed you because you taunted me. And that... I wanted to do it again: on my own will. U-Ugh....just saying this is embarrassing...”
“Hehehe.... Momo-chan’s such a sap...” Though he doesn’t say it in a mocking tone; rather a fond one as he suddenly leans back real far, so that he brings Kaito down with him as they’re now plopped down on the bed.
“Who you callin’ a sap-oh...!” He let out a small yelp in surprise when Kokichi brings them both down, rolling his eyes with a chortle as he wildly ruffles his hair. “Lil shit...” He playfully quips with just as much fondness in his tone, giving Kokichi a warm smile: one that held a special kind of warmth he normally doesn’t give others.
Giggling at the hair ruffles and his playful remark, Kokichi gives Kaito a beaming smile in return. “Momo-chan~!” Oh how he adored that smile... and his beloved astronaut. He rolls right into Kaito’s arms, smaller arms wrapping Kaito as he buries his face into his chest.
“Woah!” He blinks in surprise from the sudden cuddly embrace, trying to stifle a chuckle when feeling Kokichi nuzzle his face into his chest. “You havin’ fun down there?” Not that Kaito minds this at all, surprisingly enough. In fact, one arm would go to wrap around Kokichi’s waist, while his other hand rests on top of his head, patting it softly. “You know, Ouma... I know I always talk a lot of shit to you, too, but... you’re actually not so bad. I don’t, uh... hate you, or anything: is what I’m trying to say. I never did, really.”
A happy hum at the head pats, a soft gasp leaves his lips when he hears him say that. “Momota-chan...” He wasn’t so bad... he never actually hated him. Something about that... made Kokichi feel warm inside. An indescribable amount of happiness was bubbling up in him, hoping that his face wasn’t too visible as the widest, genuinely happiest smile appears on Kokichi’s face as he still keeps it buried partially in Kaito’s chest. He was always going to remember those words. “That’s so cheesy....nishishi... but...” A shaky exhale, Kokichi moves his head back just enough to look up at Kaito. There’s a tinge of warmth to that bright and happy smile still on his face. “...It makes me happy to hear that. And I guess I...never hated you, either. ....I could never grow to hate my beloved Momo-chan, anyway...”
“...!” His eyes widen. “Your....beloved...?” No one’s ever called him their beloved before.... and hearing that Kokichi also never hated him-nor could he-makes a flustered whine leave him. “Th-The hell, man... you’ll kill me if you say shit like that so straight-forwardly. I mean, well- not that I’m complaining: I’m glad... to hear that, too. And I don’t....mind....being called that....b-but only if it’s just us around, okay! I’d never live it down if Shuichi or Harumaki heard you calling me that!!”
Snickering, Kokichi gives him a reassuring nod. “O-kaaaaay! Whatever helps my beloved feel more comfortable~!” Being called it again makes Kaito’s heart giddily beat in his chest. He’d be far too embarrassed to ever such intimate words himself, but he’s sure that Kokichi knows that he thinks of him as his beloved supreme leader, too.
Kaito now wraps both arms around Kokichi, the two indulging in each other’s warmth as they cuddle softly. Kokichi really was like a cuddly pillow in his arms, while Kaito felt like a snug blanket in his. It really was funny... having Kokichi nestled up in his arms like this, cuddling him, kissed him... all the things Kaito in the beginning would never dream of doing with Kokichi. And now here they were, after growing much closer and only fell harder and harder for each other tonight. As they feel the sleepiness start to catch up to them, Kaito was already looking forward to tomorrow morning, almost already forgetting how scared that movie had made him earlier. Rather, he thought much more about how nice it’ll be to wake up with the smaller boy all nestled in his arms like this; and in turn, Kokichi not being able to wait waking up in Kaito’s arms. “G’night, Ouma...” He softly yawns, giving him a soft squeeze in the hold. “That stupid movie that I totally handled well aside... tonight was fun.”
“Oh my god, whatever. Big dork...” He chortles, giving him a gentle squeeze in turn. “I had fun, too, Momo-chan... it’s never boring with you. Let’s play together even more tomorrow; g’nighttttt....”
“Heheh.. and thanks. I’m glad it never is. ...Yeah: let’s do that...” After gazing into each other’s eyes one last time, spilling with warmth and love for the other... eventually drift off to sleep. All of this happened tonight, because Kokichi simply egged the other on: that was going to be a choice Kokichi will always be happy that he made.

Halloween Special: The Shut-In!
So, this episode is SUPPOSED to be canon, I believe? Or the idea is that within the episode itself, the events take place after the Plantars return to Wartwood, but otherwise it isn’t canon? I’m not sure, I’ll have to go check. Either way…
This was a REALLY fun, and surprisingly freaky episode, especially towards the end! I love the darker, pragmatic take on Halloween for Amphibia, and how the holiday is interpreted in this world as more of a doomsday preparation sort of thing, this show’s worldbuilding is always so fun. Let me tell you, I lost my mind when I saw human Sprig, Polly, Maddie, and Toadie! Is the implication that Toadie is actually, like, around the kids’ ages this entire time? That makes people shipping him and Mayor Toadstool, uh… VERY, er… But at the same time, I can see why everyone thought he was an adult- So an honest mistake and thus no harm done! And come to think of it, Polly seems to be about the same age as Sprig here. So, the ages may not necessarily match… But then come to think of it, it IS weird that the writers/animators chose to give Toadie a humansona, and not say, Ivy! Actually, Toadie is rather minor and feels oddly specific considering who else was excluded, so I have to wonder if there was some particular reason for this, of if the writers just felt like it?
Anyhow, the humanized versions of our frog friends are adorable, Sprig and Polly are gingers, no surprise there, and the bucket over Polly’s foot is so cute! I love how Anne didn’t even TRY to change who she was, she legit just tied up her hair and that’s it. Her story was a fun premise, and I expected the video to actually be a jumpscare that pulls in its victims at the last moment. And I mean, sort of? It definitely takes a while for that Video Cat demon thing to arrive… But I loved Anne in this bit, how she’s so smug and proud of herself and really doesn’t want to care what others say about her skills, you go girl! You go write dialogue! And I just realized, but this is possibly the closest look we have to Anne’s actual home and bedroom, assuming things haven’t been changed up all that much in the ‘bootleg’ translation… So F-Annes, analyze!
That Video Cat being unable to take criticism and literally dying to it is a mood. Also, either its eggs ARE boba, and/or they just taste like it… Either way, keep in mind that Molly legit took a huge bite out of one. Then again, more feral things have happened in Amphibia and ESPECIALLY with Polly, so I guess I’m not too shocked- Look at Anne, she wanted to eat that monster crab that almost killed Sylvia way back when! Are those cats invincible because they’re bound to no videos, or are they subject to regular criticism in general… Can they also be physically killed as well?
WHY am I even asking, when we know this isn’t canon whatsoever and is never going to come up again!? Anne insists that this happened to her phone specifically, so I guess the gag is that the phone had a previous owner named Anna, etc…. Still, while it’s funny how Anne just gets away with completely making up a story, I do have to wonder if it’s like. Allegorical to a real-life experience. Probably not, given the presence of humanized Sprig, Polly, Maddie, and Toadie… Unless Anne is recounting something that happened in Amphibia, but then Sprig and Polly would’ve recognized what Anne is alluding to, given how they remembered those other past adventures (which was a hilarious gag that I felt nostalgic to recognize). I’m probably just overthinking it.
Then, we’ve got Hop Pop’s story! He had LUSCIOUS locks, and he met the Grim Reaper- Again, allegedly. Not gonna lie I assumed that dude was Frog Lucifer or something, but this is kind of better? Either way that was pretty dark, and I love the implication that the Grim Reaper legit went out of his way to steal some rando’s hair. Poor Hop Pop, he never got his hair back! Are we going to call this canon? Does this confirm the presence of a Frog Grim Reaper?
(Side-note, I feel bad for Wally! Imagine being born on a day where everyone has to be holed up lest they turn into Were-Amphibians! That must’ve been quite the scandal for the Ribbiton family, I have to wonder if this influenced his decision to go out and live his own life with how lonely Wally was…)
Then we have Sprig’s story! I’m so happy to see Ivy again, I never realized how much I missed her and her adorable design, and her hair is so cute! Kind of reminds me of Anne with how wild it is, I want to see a one-shot of Anne bonding with Ivy over their messy hair now. I really appreciate that gag of Sprig realizing what Ivy’s about to say, about how everyone has knitting needles, and Ivy breaking down that door without remorse. This story was my favorite, not just for the comedy, but also…
DANG, that was legitimately terrifying?!When I saw those slimy frog skins, knowing those were actual people, with Hop Pop even suggesting one of them could’ve been Gary… and YIKES, what happens to the flayed bodies?!? Legit I freaked out when I saw the Seamstress, this was straight-up Leather Face, the show wasn’t even trying to be subtleor dodge around it, those were actual people skins! This was some Wartwood Chainsaw Massacre…! Seeing all of those hanging skins and faces gave me the heebie-jeebies, I didn’t expect the show to go THIS far, and while I’m impressed and glad it managed to freak me out, still! That build up to the reveal of Ivy literally ripping off that ‘face’, us seeing a glimpse of the Seamstress before her skins fall off, and it looks like she lacks any skin entirely, and that’s why she wears others’!
Only, she DOES have skin, it’s just clear- Fun fact, I watched this with my brother and he immediately recognized the Seamstress as a Glass Frog, by name, before Sprig did! I think it was a neat gag how for Sprig, he immediately calms down because for Amphibians, Glass Frogs are a somewhat normal and non-supernatural facet of life, relatively speaking. For us humans, well, it reminds me of this one myth about a woman whose head can rise from her body, unveiling her organs…
I THOUGHT the episode was going to go the sweet route, even as I joked that the Seamstress still, y’know, KILLED people. And like Apothecary Gary, the show remembered this and we legit had the Seamstress burn to death in a classic horror movie finale, and I yelled when she made one last stand to grab Ivy by the leg and bite her! I get that there’s meant to be an allegory between Ivy not appreciating her own hair, and the Seamstress not appreciating her own skin, body positivity and all that- But mostly I was too freaked out to appreciate it. Ivy waddling around blindly in present-time was adorable, though.
And, Polly! I LOVE the sort of lesson, the realization that her being gone was scarier than ANY story they’d heard that night (probably because this was real, at least I assume the other stories were fake but regardless). We get our twist of Polly turning into a Were-Tadpole, and then anticlimactically reacting while the others lose their minds as noises of ruckus are heard, implying that Polly immediately went feral afterwards, or the others just made a mess as they freaked out! Also, love the twist on the ending credits, that’s delightfully morbid…
All in all, this was a great episode! Surprisingly scary, and definitely hilarious- Its a much-needed break from this Amphibia hiatus, especially now that I’m also dealing with the hiatus for The Owl House and Infinity Train (the latter of whom may be permanent PLEASE watch the show on HBO Max), and Kipo’s ending. I do have Carmen Sandiego’s third season to watch, though. I wonder if there’s any speculation to be gleaned from the Blue Moon turning people into monsters, and how that can connect to Blue Energy for the Calamity Box relating to the virtue of Heart. Does the Blue Moon turn people into a monstrous form that reflects the darker sides/fears of their heart? I’m probably overthinking it. Either way, I’m really glad we got a classic Holiday Episode for this show- I always love those, ESPECIALLY Halloween ones!

Baby I'll Behave / If You Let Me Stay | Chapter 1
jjk fic | yuuji/junpei | time travel fix-it | ao3 link | chapter 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 (on tumblr)
Junpei meets a weird pretty boy at the movies who won't leave him alone.
**Junpei's pov of a Yuuji that has gone back in time to change everything. Yuuji never mentions it though, so i leave all that stuff to your imagination.
Junpei first met the boy when he went to his favorite theater to watch a showing of an old horror movie.
The boy walked in around three minutes after Junpei sat down. He was around Junpei's age, a little taller, had cool pink hair, and from what little bit Junpei could see of his face, he was handsome.
He didn't sit directly in front of Junpei, he sat a few seats to the left in the row in front. He was a polite movie goer, didn't touch his phone during the movie, didn't talk except for a small shriek at a minor jumpscare, which was oddly endearing.
Junpei had watched the movie before, so he at some points looked over at the guy. He was leaning forward in his seat, completely engaged. He reacted sometimes, leaning back in his chair, curling up during a particularly stressful scene. Maybe if it was someone else, or a movie he'd never watched before, Junpei would be annoyed at the guy for being distracting, but he only felt the satisfaction of watching someone experience something for the first time.
When the movie was over, Junpei took his phone out to check the time. The pink haired guy stretched, making a little noise, before turning towards Junpei. "That was scarier than I expected, and I loved the practical effects! What did you think of it?"
Junpei fumbled out a response about how he'd liked how the fake blood was better than in the prequel movie. The guy jerked in surprise.
"There's a prequel movie?" He said a bit too loud.
"Yeah? It came out two years after, it was about when the mom and dad first started dating."
"Holy shit, what's it called? Also, what's your name? Mine's Itadori Yuuji!"
That was how Junpei was essentially pulled into a friendship with the weirdest guy he knew.
Yuuji's grandfather had very recently died, very recently, and he'd moved to Tokyo because he'd always wanted to.
"I didn't really have anyone left, to hold me back or to stay for," Yuuji said around a piece of sushi. He'd basically pushed Junpei into going to a restaurant with him. He'd promised to pay and had even shown Junpei the money in his wallet to prove it, which was a bit much but did make Junpei feel a little better. Yuuji was charismatic, definitely the sort to get his way, and Junpei didn’t want to get fucked over.
After their talk of movies petered out, Junpei was done with his food and Yuuji was finishing up. Yuuji admitted to wanting to make some friends, and Junpei privately wondered if he looked normal enough to be this guy's friend. He'd always thought he gave off some sort of aura that let people knew he was weak, a loser.
But Yuuji smiled at him, asked him questions, laughed at his dry jokes, made funnier jokes, and asked for his number, so they could meet up again.
As they walked home, it turned out the Yuuji lives only a couple blocks away from Junpei's place, in an apartment with a fairly absent roommate. Yuuji waved goodbye like this wasn't the last time they'd hang out.
Junpei walked home slowly, feeling empty. He was just entering his house when his phone went off. When he checked it, it was an unknown number.
'hey Junpei its yuuji!!!!!!'
'i had a lot of fun!'
'you free tomorrow? if not, when?'
':D!!'
....Looked like Yuuji was they type to get attached easily.
And a little pushy.
He saved Yuuji's number and contemplated putting a cherry blossom emoji next to his name (for his pink hair), but thought better of it. Didn't want anyone to notice it.
He didn't know how to respond, so he didn't. He didn't have read receipts on so he was safe.
His mom caught him looking at the message a few hours later. He didn't notice her reading the messages over his shoulder, and couldn't deny her when she pushed him into responding.
'hey sorry i missed your message, my phone was out of battery and charging'
'yeah im free tomorrow'
'have you been the shopping center near here?'
'no, where is it?'
Before he went to sleep that night, he wrote down a list of topics to talk about, with movies that weren’t too niche and questions he could ask to keep the conversation going.
They met up the next day at noon and hung out for hours.

Put Your Arms Around Me (Midoriya x Reader)
Warnings: the scary story being told does have death
Word Count: 3,001
Prompt/Request: Second day of the October Special: Scary Storytelling.
Summary: When a power outage cancels Class 1A's weekly movie night, they decide to tell scary stories instead. Unfortunately, for Y/N, they don't handle scary things very well. Maybe Midoriya can help!
Author: Mod Alex
“...-ovie night. Movie Night! MOVIE NIGHT!” You chuckled as you heard the chanting of Ashido and Kaminari as they ran past your room. Class 1A dorms had a weekly tradition. You couldn’t remember just how it came to be, but every Friday you all gathered in the common room for a movie night. Snacks were always aplenty and the room was never short of laughter. Your favorite part of it, truthfully though, was getting to cozy up to Midoriya. Somehow, sitting next to him under a blanket, talking in hushed murmurs, and shared smiles had become just as traditional as the movie night itself. You pushed yourself up from your bean bag, setting down the book you’d been reading and replacing its place in your arms with the quilt sitting at the end of your bed. The blanket too would serve its purpose in keeping you and your crush free of the biting cold that the rain had brought in.
Midoriya was already waiting in his usual sitting spot in the common rooms. When he noticed you walking in with your usual blanket, he smiled waving you over. You were quick to comply, draping the patchwork over the both of you. Like clockwork, Midoriya’s arm fell over your shoulder pulling you closer to his side, his face a light pink. “I got some snacks already, I thought you might want to share.”
“Aww, thank you!” You took a chip from the plate he had, munching on it happily. “Did they choose a movie yet?”
“Hmm, I’m not sure. Kacchan and Iida-kun were having a… conversation… about that.” You laughed. They were most definitely fighting, likely with Bakugou choosing some tasteless movie and Iida aggressively explaining why it wouldn’t be appropriate.
“Ah, so we’ll be waiting a while then.” Fortunately, you didn’t particularly mind, seeing as it meant you got to cuddle up to Midoriya for longer. Thunder outside crackled. It had been raining periodically on and off all day but had really picked up once evening rolled in. His arm pulled you slightly closer and you let the feeling ease any anxieties over the weather that you had. “Wow, the rain really doesn’t seem to be letting up at all.”
“Yeah, it’s rare for us to be getting lightning. Hopefully, it'll pass soon.” You continued talking, conversation flowing easily as the rain pounded harder at the window behind you. Normally the storm would have unsettled you, but something about Midoriya set you at ease. Finally, the others agreed upon a movie and all conversation died down. They’d chosen a relatively tame horror movie, you assumed it wasn’t a scarier one because of Iida. Even still, despite being a pro-hero in training, you were easily scared. As the movie progressed, you found yourself slightly shaken, hiding your face behind the quilt as you snuggled closer to Midoriya. “Hey, you doing okay?” Originally you thought he would be as startled as you, but it turned out that he was not so easily shaken.
“Heh, y-yeah. A-okay!” You peeked up at him, heart thrumming in your chest at the kind look he was giving you.
“If you’re scared, we can scroll through my phone together instead.”
"That’s really sweet of you. But I don’t want to be a huge bab--” Just as you were about to finish your sentence the power cut out and a very undignified shriek left your lips. Arms pulled you close, a familiar body heat seeping security into you. You may have clung to him while the others murmured and shuffled around.
“Hey, now. You’re okay. I’ve got you. It’s just the storm, right?” You nodded, face not moving from Midoriya’s chest.
A few minutes later, your classmates had gathered several candles and battery-powered lamps, illuminating the room with a soft glow. You’d since calmed down, and yet neither you nor Midoriya had made any move to leave your current position. “Damn, what do we do now. It’s still way early.” You recognized the voice of Kirishima, despite the dim lighting making it a little hard to actually see him.
“It’s not like we can watch the movie now. Man, I was just getting interested in it too,” Mina whined, leaning against the aforementioned redhead. A brief silence stretched on as everyone contemplated what to do in place of movie night.
“What about scary stories? We were just watching a horror movie, after all.” You silently cursed Tsu in your mind as your classmates’ agreements sounded out.
Everyone took a minute to think of a story before Tokoyami began. His story was more of a poem of sorts, although it was still just as chilling. He claimed he had read it somewhere, but despite knowing it was made up, his storytelling abilities and haunting tone made the poem just as chilling as any scary story. It also didn’t help that Dark Shadow had taken to inputting the sound effects, making the whole experience a little too real. “...he slowly opens the door…” Dark Shadow flew out from behind him, screaming as loud as he could. You, of course, practically jumped out of your skin. You probably would have literally fallen off the couch if Midoriya’s arms hadn’t have been wrapped around you, securing you in place. Thankfully, you weren’t the only person that had been startled by the conclusion of Tokoyami’s story. Several of your classmates had hidden behind pillows, pulled their blankets closer, or huddled next to their friend.
“Thanks.” You peeked at Midoriya who offered you a shaky smile of his own.
“I could say the same. Something about you just makes me feel safe and I want to be able to protect you and make you feel the same way.” He blushed as he realized the weight of his words. You just smiled letting yourself curl up closer to him.
“You already do.” You didn’t look to confirm the fact, but from where you were snuggled into his neck, you could feel the heat from his flushed face.
The night continued on like that, with each student taking their turn at telling a story-- some scarier than others. Yaoyorozu’s story wasn't particularly scary, but you all feigned fear for her sake. After all, she seemed so excited to be joining in. The same could be said for Aoyama and Koda’s stories. On the other hand, you had damn near had to excuse yourself from the room out of fear at Tsu and Shoji’s stories. Even Hagakure had managed to elicit a startled yelp from you when she had snuck up behind you during her story. She had taken advantage of her quirk to wander throughout the room, creeping behind people to jumpscare them at the appropriate parts of the story.
Midoriya’s story wasn’t particularly chilling, though you suspected this was for your sake. Once nearly everyone had gone, yourself included, there was only two left. Mineta, who everyone had hoped wouldn’t tell a story, was in the middle of telling a tale wherein the only scary part about it was how gross it was. Bakugou interrupted much to your appreciation. “You extras wouldn’t know how to tell a scary story if your lives depended on it.” Ah. Maybe you weren’t so grateful after all.
“Bold of you to talk like that, having not even told a story yet.”
“Tch, you half-and-half bastard. You think I don’t know how to tell a scary story.”
Todoroki shrugged. “I’m just saying you don’t have room to talk.”
“Sit down and shut up. I have a story that will make you have nightmares for a week.” You gulped, squeezing Midoriya’s hand. He squeezed it in response and you hoped that his affections would be enough to fight off the fear that you knew was bound to come with Bakugou’s story.
“There’s an old story that took place a couple years ago here in Musutafu, you can find it in old newspaper articles if you look hard enough. A group of students and their chaperone came to tour the city and end the day with a meal before catching the Metro to get back home. The students were all excited, they’d be able to catch a glimpse of U.A. which they obviously wanted to get into. They started the day leaving the Metro with their chaperone, a teacher’s aid from their middle school. Among the group of students were three girls and two boys. Most of them had been friends since childhood, making them all really close. Their names-- Hana, Akari, Rin, Sota, and Mitsuo. Hana was the most carefree of the group, Akari was her best friend, loyal like a lapdog. Sota was more studious, extracurriculars taking up most of his time. Rin and Mitsuo were slackers. Regardless, they were all friends. So on that day, they came to Musutafu, they were excited. On the ride they all chatted, the teacher’s aid not paying them much mind as they pressed themselves to the window to watch the city roll by. The first half of their day went well. They toured part of the city, visited several shops, and stopped for lunch. It was during lunch that everything started to go wrong. Mitsuo, who had been picking off of his friend’s lunches as well as his own, started coughing. Rin was teasing him until she noticed blood on his napkin.
“Mitsuo-- your napkin!”
Rin cried out. They quickly took him to the teacher’s aid who reacted strangely. Initially, he brushed it off as some kind of prank the kids were trying to pull on him. When he saw them crying, though, he told them that they would take him to the hospital. When they got to the hospital, the four remaining friends stayed in the waiting room together.
“What do you think happened?”
“Will he be okay?”
The group questioned each other. Mere minutes later the teacher’s aid showed up, expression flat and grim.
“What happened at lunch?”
They explained once more the events that took place. His expression sharpened.
“I didn’t mean that. What the hell did you kids do?”
They were shocked, did he seriously believe that one of them had intentionally done something to hurt their friend. Rin, the closest to Mitsuo lashed out. The others tried to hold her back.
“I bet you’re the one who caused this, you bastard!”
The teacher’s aid backed off after her remark to go talk to the doctor, still shooting the group dirty looks. The group of friends sat with the thought that Rin had brought up. People didn’t just bleed from the mouth randomly, somebody had to have poisoned him, and judging by the teacher aid’s strange reactions they couldn’t help but feel as though he was the culprit. Rin went to confront him while the others were distracted. Akira was the first to notice, leaving to go find and stop Rin. If the teacher's aid was capable of hurting Mitsuo, then what would happen when Rin found him. She returned later, tears in eyes, breath coming in panicked huffs.
“She’s dead! Fuck, fuck, fuck. Guys I- I, oh my god.”
The others could barely get her to calm down, finding out that Akira had found Rin, her eyes glossed over, and a medical cord wrapped around her neck. She told them that she’d seen the teacher’s aid standing over her body and she had run off, afraid for her life. The three remaining friends knew there was no choice but to run away. They made their way to the Metro, hoping to escape back to their home city before the teacher’s aid could reach them. As they made their way across a busy street they turned to see the teacher’s aid, eyes frantic as he chased after them. Just as they were about to escape the teacher’s aid called out, shout just as frantic as his eyes.
“WATCH OUT!!”
The squeal of tires on the road, then…
SLAM!!!
And just like that time seemed to stop as the now lifeless body of Sota flew several feet into the street. The teacher’s aid didn’t stop though, he kept running trying to catch up with the others. Hearts thundering in their chest the final two ran with tears blurring their vision as they desperately tried to make it to the Metro. Hana begged her friend for them to hide, to stop. That she felt as though she might collapse. Akari tugged her along, promising that it was only a little ways away. That she would keep her safe. That at least they two could make it out. They did. Make it to the Metro, I mean. But the teacher’s aid had too.
“Hana, you need to get over here! Quickly!”
The teacher's aid waved her over, eyes struck with fear.
“What, no way! You killed my friends!”
“Killed? I-- I would never. You need to get away from her Hana, you’ve got it all wrong… I didn’t kill them…”
Bakugou paused allowing everyone to grasp the reality of the scenario in the story and build up tension.
“She did.”
The teacher’s aid pointed a trembling finger at Akira, gasping when he saw she wasn’t there where she’d been standing. While he had been busy trying to save Hana, she had crept behind him. With a shove to the back, he went toppling into the tracks of the Metro just as it came approaching. Hana screamed. She didn’t know what to believe. Akira, her best friend had just killed their chaperone. But maybe he was the killer? She wanted to believe her best friend but then Akira spoke.
“You’re safe now, Hana.”
It wasn’t the words themselves but how she had spoken them. Voice wavering in a way that made it sound like she was barely holding back a grin. Hana was horrified, as realization dawned on her.
“You-- You! How could you?”
“The others won’t be a bother anymore.”
No one knows what happened to them after that. The only reason there's even a record of this was that someone at the Metro recorded it on their cell phone and Mitsuo's medical reports. After that missing reports were filed, but neither Akira nor Hana was never found. Some say Akira is still lurking around Musutafu, refusing to let anyone close to Hana. And if some unlucky bastard comes across them... well, they'll just befall the same fate as the rest of the tour group that day.”
With that Bakugou sat back, a pleased grin on his face and his arms crossed. There were no words spoken, no screams. Just silence. This story had been different from the others. All the others were meant for cheap scares and a quick fun shot of panic. This one left a lingering sense of unease. Sure you all were fairly sure the story was fake, but the content was unsettling and the unresolved ending sent a chill down your spine. After a while, Kiri was able to shake off the silence with a somewhat nervous laugh. “Whoa, Bakubro. That was… intense. I think I speak on behalf of all of us when I saw you win.”
“I told you I would.” Despite his pridefulness, no one wanted to object.
“I think we can call it a night, then. We do still have studying to do this weekend and it’s best not to break our sleep schedules any further than we already have.” Iida spoke, and you felt your heart drop. How could anyone even consider going to sleep now? Much less leave the safety of the group. With mumbles and whispers, your classmates dispersed, most in groups-- for sleepovers you figured. Eventually, all that was left was you and Midoriya who made to get up. Hesitantly you untangled yourself from him, tugging the quilt closer to you, the weight of the fabric bringing a small sense of comfort. Though, not enough comfort to replace the chill that came from the lack of warmth that Midoriya put out.
“Hey, are you coming?” A hand was extended to you and when you looked up to see his face, you saw a sympathetic expression adorning his features. “Kacchan used to tell me stories like that when we were younger. I remember how scared they made me feel.” Your hand found his and he hoisted you up, hand never leaving yours even after you were standing. “Would you-- um, well, I mean, if you’re scared, maybe you’d like to stay with me?” Butterflies took flight in your tummy.
“If that’s okay with you, I'd like that.”
“Of course!” Even in the darkness, you could see the redness dusting his cheeks. “Like I said before, I want to make you feel safe.”
You smiled at the softness of the boy before you, he really was too sweet. Moving before you could stop yourself you planted a light kiss on his cheek. “Thank you.”
“Wha- Yes. Ah, an-anytime!” You giggled at his flustered stuttering. His hand still holding yours, he led you to his room. “I can take the floor so you can have the be-”
“We aren’t going to cuddle?” You two essentially already had been laying together, so you were rather confused by his sudden timidness.
“You wouldn’t mind?” You shook your head, then realizing that he might not have been able to see you in the dark, you spoke a soft ‘no’. “Alright, then.” Minutes later you were laying, head against his chest with his arms holding you securely. Your legs slightly tangled. He’d tugged your quilt over the both of you. “Hey, (Y/N), are you asleep?”
“Mm?”
“Ah, sorry, did I wake you?”
“It’s okay. What’s up?”
“I just wanted to say… I really like you, like more than just friends.”
You giggled. “I like you a lot too, like more than just friends.” He hummed happily, thumb rubbing circles into your back. Despite your earlier scare, you could easily admit that you felt safe and secure and incredibly loved, laying in the arms of Midoriya.
