series masterlist - chapter 3 â chapter 5
A mere 43 years later and Logan was already in his second war since you died that last time. Part of him almost wished that he could die, maybe then heâd see you and get to hold you forever. But that just wasnât in the cards for him; not when he had this healing, not when he was already 111 years old.
Logan's mind was swimming in a fog of pain as consciousness crept back in. The last thing he remembered was the deafening blast of gunfire and the sharp, searing pain that tore through his side as he charged forward in the midst of the chaos. War was hell, and heâd been through more than enough of them to know that. But thisâthis felt different.
His eyes fluttered open, the bright lights overhead blinding him for a moment as he groaned, trying to push himself up. His muscles screamed in protest, his entire body feeling like it had been torn apart and put back together again.
âEasy there, soldier.â
The voice was soft but firm, and it froze him in place. Loganâs heart skipped a beat, recognition flooding through him even though he knew it wasnât possible. His vision focused, and then he saw you. Standing right over him, your face illuminated by the dim lights of the field hospital.
It was you.
Loganâs breath hitched, his mind spinning. Heâd seen you dieâheâd held you in his arms not long before everything faded. The memory of that night, the pain in your eyes, the blood pooling beneath youâit was burned into him. Heâd lost you again. But now here you were, alive, standing in front of him like nothing had ever happened.
His throat tightened, but he forced himself to speak. âY/N?â You probably didnât hear him, given the quiet tone of his voice.
You smiled softly, stepping closer to him, your hands working with practiced care to check his wounds. âYouâre lucky, you know,â you said, ignoring the way he looked at you, as if he'd seen a ghost. âThe shrapnel didnât hit anything vital. Youâll live.â
Logan swallowed hard, his eyes never leaving yours. He felt a pull, the same pull heâd felt every time he met you in a different life. But this time, it hurt even more. Because this was the first time heâd seen you since the last time you died, and now, here you were, again, as if the universe had decided to toy with him once more.
âY/NâŠâ he whispered again, his voice rough with emotion.
You glanced at him, your brows knitting together in confusion. âHow do you know my name?â
Logan hesitated, his heart pounding. He couldnât tell youânot yet. Not about the lives youâd lived before, not about the times heâd watched you die. He had to keep it together. You didnât remember him, and that was both a blessing and a curse.
He cleared his throat, managing a tight smile. âLucky guess,â he said, his voice strained, trying to mask the tidal wave of emotion crashing through him.
You gave him a curious look but didnât press further. âWell, lucky or not, you should be more careful out there,â you said, turning your attention back to bandaging him up. âYouâre not invincible, even if you act like it.â
Logan nearly chuckled at that. If only you knew. But instead, he gritted his teeth as you finished patching him up. The pain from the wound was nothing compared to the ache in his chest. Heâd spent so many lifetimes with you, always losing you too soon. Always feeling like there wasnât enough time.
And now, here you were again, standing so close to him, your hands gentle as you worked. He clenched his jaw, his mind racing with memories of youâof your smile, your laugh, the way youâd always found him, no matter the time or place.
But this wasnât the past. This was 1943, and you didnât know him. He had to play it cool, keep his distance, even though every instinct in him was screaming to reach out and hold you, to make sure you didnât slip away again.
âThanks,â he muttered, trying to keep his voice steady.
You gave him a small nod, satisfied with your work. âWell, youâre still not cleared to leave yet, so youâre not gonna get away from me that easily.â You grabbed a small flashlight from your pocket and leaned in a little closer, shining it into his eyes to check his pupils.
Logan grunted, feeling the warmth of your proximity. It was almost unbearable how familiar you felt, even though you didnât know himâat least not in this lifetime. His eyes followed your movements, the way you focused on him like he was just another soldier you had to patch up. But to him, you were everything.
âYou know,â you started, your voice calm but a little teasing, âyou really shouldnât be throwing yourself into the line of fire like that. Kinda hard for us to patch you up if you donât have any parts left.â
Logan gave a low chuckle, though his heart wasnât in it. âIâll heal,â he muttered, more to himself than to you. His voice was rougher than usual, like the words were struggling to get past the weight of seeing you again, alive and breathing.
You raised an eyebrow at him. âHeal, huh? Well, youâre not invincible, soldier. Trust me, Iâve seen men think theyâre untouchable, and they donât last long in a place like this.â
Logan looked away, trying to focus on anything other than the sound of your voice. He didnât want to make this harder on himself than it already was. âGuess Iâll just have to be more careful, then.â
You chuckled softly, finishing your check-up and tucking the flashlight back into your pocket. âYeah, you do that.â There was a hint of amusement in your tone, but you were still clearly all business. âNow,â you looked at a clipboard in your hands, âJames, you have a different name youâd like to go by?â
Logan grunted, his gaze fixed on you. The name âJamesâ felt foreign now, like a remnant of a past he didn't quite belong to anymore. His eyes flickered to the clipboard, then back to your face. The memories of every life you'd lived flashed through his mind, each one ending the same way, with you slipping away from him.
âLogan,â he said, his voice a bit rougher than he intended.
You looked up, scribbling something down. âLogan, huh?â You nodded, writing it down. âSuits you better than James⊠I think.â
Logan gave a small grunt, a mix of acknowledgment and the emotions he was keeping buried. He couldnât tell you how much it hurt hearing you say his name, knowing you didnât remember him at all. Every time he heard your voice, it was like a punch to the gutâa reminder that no matter how many times you came back, he was always starting over, and you⊠you were always slipping away.
âGlad you approve,â Logan muttered, his eyes drifting away from you. He was trying hard not to stare, trying not to let the overwhelming rush of memories take over. You looked the same, almost exactly as you had the last timeâbefore George pulled that damn trigger.
You didnât seem to notice the tension radiating from him, too focused on the task at hand. âWell, Logan,â you said, setting the clipboard aside. âYouâll need to stay here for observation, at least for the night. Make sure your bodyâs handling the recovery properly. Weâve seen some soldiers who think theyâre fine, and thenââ You made a gesture, mimicking someone fainting, a half-smile tugging at your lips.
Loganâs eyes flicked to the floor, suppressing the mix of emotions threatening to boil over. That small smileâthe one you always had, no matter how many lives you livedâwas painfully familiar. Each time, the same softness, the same warmth. But this time, it cut deeper because he knew how this would end. Youâd be gone. Again.
âYouâre real good at this, arenât ya?â Logan said, his voice low, trying to sound casual despite the weight of everything between you two, or at least, everything he carried alone.
You shrugged, your smile widening just a little. âIâve had a lot of practice lately. War isnât exactly kind to anyone.â Your eyes softened for a moment, like you were remembering someone, but you shook it off, standing straighter. âBut, yeah. Itâs what I do.â
Loganâs jaw tightened as he fought the urge to tell you everything, to scream at the universe for pulling you into his life only to tear you away. But he couldnât. Not this time. He had to play along, had to act like this was the first time heâd ever met you.
He nodded, letting out a deep breath. âGuess weâre both used to it, then. War and all.â
You glanced at him, curiosity flickering in your eyes. âYeah?â There was a pause as you sat down on the edge of the bed next to him. âYou seem⊠different from the other soldiers Iâve patched up. Seen a lot, huh?â
Logan leaned back slightly, his hand brushing against the place where the ring still rested in his pocket. He hadnât taken it out in years. âMore than youâd believe.â
There was a quiet moment between you, your gaze lingering on him as if trying to figure him out. âWell,â you said, breaking the silence, âletâs hope you donât add anything else to that list while youâre here.â
Logan couldnât help the bitter chuckle that escaped his throat. If only you knew what was on that list already. If only he could tell you how many times heâd seen you die, how many times heâd watched your life slip through his fingers. But instead, he just nodded again.
âIâll try,â he muttered, though the words felt hollow.
As you stood up, preparing to check on the next patient, you paused, glancing back at him. There was something in your eyes, something almost familiar. But then, you smiled againâkind, unaware of the history Logan held with youâand walked away, leaving him alone with his thoughts.
Logan exhaled slowly, the ache in his chest growing heavier. He had to stay strong, had to keep his distance. But deep down, he knew he was already caught, already tangled in the same painful cycle.
He slipped his hand into his pocket, fingers brushing against the smooth surface of the engagement ring heâd never had the chance to give you.
Maybe this time, he thought. Maybe this time, youâd survive.
But Logan knew better than to hope.
---
You checked in with one of the doctors when Sandra, your friend and fellow nurse, put a hand on your shoulder and turned you to face her.
âDoes he have a nice voice?â
You snorted, shaking your head at Sandra. "A nice voice? Thatâs what you want to ask?â
Sandra grinned, unbothered by your sarcasm. âWell, I saw the way you were looking at him. Thought maybe he had some mysterious, deep, soldier-thing going on.â
Rolling your eyes, you grabbed a clipboard from the nearby desk. âHeâs just a patient, Sandra.â
âUh-huh, sure.â Sandra leaned in, lowering her voice. âYou didnât exactly hurry out of that room.â
You shot her a look. âI was doing my job.â
âMmhmm,â she hummed, clearly not buying it. âSo... does he?â
You sighed, unable to stop a small smile from creeping onto your face. âYeah, okay. Maybe a little. Heâs got that gruff, low thing going on.â
âI knew it!â Sandra nudged your shoulder, her expression smug. âYouâre into the mysterious types.â
âOh, come on,â you muttered, flipping through the papers on your clipboard, though none of it really held your focus. Your mind drifted back to Loganâs faceâhis eyes, the way he carried himself like the weight of the world rested on his shoulders. There was something about him, something that felt... familiar. But you brushed it off. That wasnât possible.
âIâm not into anyone,â you said quickly, snapping back to reality. âEspecially not a guy Iâve known for like five minutes.â
Sandra raised her hands in surrender, smirking. âAlright, alright. Iâll drop it.â But the teasing gleam in her eyes suggested she wasnât done with the subject.
You gave her a half-hearted glare before heading off to check on another patient. But as much as you tried to focus, your thoughts kept drifting back to Logan. The way his voice had this gravelly edge to it, how it felt like he was holding something back every time he spoke. And then there was the way he looked at youâlike he recognized you, like you were someone important.
But that couldnât be right.
---
You came to check on Logan later that night before youâd head back to your quarters for some rest. The makeshift hospital was quieter now, just a few murmurs from patients in the distance. Your shift had been long, draining, but something about checking on Logan felt... different.
You pushed the door open, stepping into the dimly lit room. Logan was sitting up on the bed, his expression unreadable as he stared at the floor. His posture was tense, like he was carrying the weight of more than just a few injuries.
âHowâre you feeling?â you asked softly, keeping your tone professional despite the strange pull you felt toward him.
Logan looked up at you, his eyes locking onto yours for a moment that seemed to stretch longer than it should. âBetter. You know, thanks to you.â
You gave a small smile, stepping closer to the bed. âIâm just doing my job.â
âYeah,â he muttered, his gaze drifting back to the floor. âStill, youâre good at it.â
There was that same heaviness in his voice, like he was holding back more than just gratitude. You couldnât put your finger on it, but something about him felt... familiar. It was strange, like you knew him somehow, but you brushed the thought away.
âYou should get some rest,â you said, checking the bandage on his side. Your fingertips lingered on the spot where the bloody wound had been earlier, but there was nothingâjust smooth skin, as if it had never been there at all. Your brow furrowed, lips parting slightly in disbelief. Youâd seen the gash when theyâd brought him in, deep and ugly, impossible to heal so quickly.
Loganâs muscles tensed under your touch, and when you glanced at him, his expression was guarded, like he was bracing for something.
"Thatâs... impossible," you murmured, more to yourself than to him. "It was bad earlier. There should at least be... a scar."
Logan shrugged, trying to act indifferent, but the movement was stiff. "Guess I got lucky."
You pulled your hand back slowly, still frowning. âLucky doesnât cover it. Iâve never seen anyone heal like that.â You tilted your head, curiosity edging into your voice. âHow?â
His jaw tightened. "It happens."
âThatâs not much of an answer.â Your arms crossed over your chest, and the edge in your tone softened just a bit. âYouâve got to admit itâs... weird.â
Logan gave you a look, one that made you feel like he was sizing you up, trying to figure out how much he could say. Or maybe how little. "Weird, yeah," he muttered, voice low. "Not much I can do about it, though."
You knew a deflection when you heard one, but you let it goâfor now. You werenât sure why you felt compelled to trust him, but there was something in his eyes, in the way he spoke, that made it impossible not to.
Sitting down on the edge of his bed, you shook your head with a faint smile. "Well, however it happened, youâre lucky I didnât call the doctors in to see this miracle." You gave him a teasing look. âYouâd be their new favorite science project.â
A ghost of a grin tugged at the corner of Loganâs mouth, but it didnât quite reach his eyes. "Yeah, Iâd rather avoid that."
For a moment, the two of you sat in silence. It should have been awkward, but it wasnât. There was something strangely easy about being near him, like youâd known each other for years. You glanced at his handsârough, calloused, like theyâd seen more battles than you could imagineâand wondered just how much heâd been through.
"Why do I feel like thereâs more to you than youâre letting on?" you asked softly.
Loganâs gaze flicked to yours, something unreadable in his expression. "You ever meet someone and feel like youâve known âem before?"
His words struck a nerve, sending a chill down your spine. You swallowed, the strange familiarity between you two suddenly harder to ignore. "Yeah... I guess I have."
Logan nodded, his gaze dropping to his hands. He rubbed his thumb against the curve of his knuckleâa nervous habit, maybe. Or just old memories surfacing.
"You should get some rest," you said quietly, almost reluctantly. It felt wrong to leave, like there was more to say, even if you didnât know what.
"Iâm not good at rest," Logan admitted, voice low.
You gave a soft laugh. "No one is these days."
As you stood up, Loganâs hand moved slightlyâjust enough that the tips of his fingers brushed yours, barely a touch but enough to make your heart skip. You looked down at him, surprised by how natural it felt, like youâd been standing this close to him a thousand times before.
For a moment, it seemed like Logan might say somethingâsomething important. His hand hovered near his pocket, where a small, heavy object pressed against the fabric. But then he stopped himself, his jaw clenching as if heâd changed his mind at the last second.
"Goodnight," you whispered, your voice softer than before.
Logan gave you a short nod, but his eyes followed you as you stepped away, like he was memorizing the momentâlike it might slip away from him if he looked away for even a second.
---
The next morning, when you went to check on Logan, he was sitting on the edge of his bed, buttoning up his shirt over his white beater.
âHeyâwait.â You stepped in front of Logan, your hands instinctively finding his forearm as he finished buttoning his shirt. âYouâre not cleared to leave yet.â
Loganâs eyes flicked to yours, and for a moment, something passed between youâlike the echo of a memory, distant but familiar. He gave you a half-smile, the kind that looked more like a grimace, and kept working on the last button.
âGotta go,â he muttered. âDonât do well sittinâ still.â
You crossed your arms, not budging. âDoesnât mean you get to walk out of here half-healed.â
His gaze darkened, jaw clenching as if biting back words. You could tell he didnât like being told what to do, but there was something more in his expressionâsomething haunted, buried beneath that tough exterior.
âYou think I canât handle it?â he asked, voice low, gravelly.
âItâs not about what you can handle.â Your eyes softened, a hint of frustration slipping through. âItâs about whatâs smart. Iâve patched up enough soldiers to know that leavinâ too soon isnât.â
Loganâs lips twitched, like he might argue, but then he stilled, studying you with a strange intensity. The weight of his stare made your breath hitch for a second, but you refused to back down.
âStay,â you insisted. âAt least for another day. Let the wound close properly.â
He exhaled sharply through his nose, like it was more trouble than it was worth to argue with you. âYou always this stubborn?â
A smile tugged at your lips. âYeah. Part of the charm.â
Logan huffed, a reluctant laugh buried somewhere in the sound. He leaned forward slightly, his knees brushing yours where you stood between his legs. The air felt heavierâcharged with something neither of you could quite name.
âY/N...â The way your name left his mouth was different. Familiar, almost reverent, like he was tasting the sound of it after a long time.
Your heart stuttered in your chest. âWhat?â
Loganâs hand drifted toward his pocket, hesitating just for a beat. He seemed to think better of it and instead leaned back, propping himself on his palms like he was trying to keep his distance.
âNothing.â His tone was gruff, evasive, but you knew there was more he wasnât saying.
You stayed where you were, close enough to feel the warmth of him. âYouâre not really going to leave, are you?â
Loganâs lips pressed into a thin line. âShouldnât stick around too long.â
âWhy not?â
He ran a hand through his dark hair, frustrated. âI just shouldnât.â
The words hit you harder than you expected, like they carried the weight of something unsaidâsomething important. But before you could push further, Logan shifted on the bed, brushing past you as if putting space between you would make it easier.
âLook...â His voice softened just slightly, almost apologetic. âYou shouldnât worry about me. Iâve been through worse.â
You tilted your head, watching him carefully. âMaybe. But that doesnât mean you have to go through this alone.â
Loganâs gaze flicked to yours, and for a moment, the walls he kept up seemed to crack, just a little. He looked at you like you were someone he wanted to hold onto, but couldnâtâlike youâd slip through his fingers if he let himself get too close.
You leaned in just a bit, your voice barely above a whisper. âLet me help, Logan.â
The way his name fell from your lips sent a flicker of something through himâsomething dangerous, vulnerable, like it meant too much. His breath hitched, and for a second, you thought he might tell you whatever he was holding back.
But instead, he gave you a tight smile, one that didnât quite reach his eyes. âYou already have.â
It felt like the conversation was teetering on the edge of something, but neither of you were ready to tip it over just yet.
âYou win,â he muttered finally, his tone rough but resigned. âIâll stay... one more day.â
You grinned, victorious. âGood. Iâll hold you to that. Maybe Iâll even let ya accompany me to the mess tent for lunch.â You held up a finger, playful but firm. âBut only if youâre good.â
Logan gave a soft huff, the closest thing to a laugh youâd gotten out of him all day. âYou makinâ the rules now?â
âThatâs right,â you said with a smirk. âI am the nurse, after all.â
He shook his head, amused despite himself. âFair enough.â
You lingered a moment longer than necessary, and Logan didnât move away. His hand twitched near his knee, like he was thinking about reaching for you. It wasnât the kind of gesture that strangers madeâit felt too familiar, too intimate, like muscle memory.
âSee ya at lunch, then,â you murmured, trying to shake off the strange pull toward him.
Logan gave a small nod, but his gaze stayed on you as you turned toward the door. Just as you reached it, you glanced back over your shoulder.
âYou better not sneak out while Iâm gone,â you teased, though part of you wasnât sure it was really a joke.
Loganâs lips quirked at the corner, but the look in his eyes was heavy, weighed down with something you couldnât quite place. âWouldnât dream of it.â
---
By the time lunch rolled around, you were half-expecting Logan to be goneâoff on some stubborn mission to leave the hospital before you could stop him. But when you returned, there he was, sitting up on the bed and rolling the sleeves of his shirt to his forearms.
"Kept my end of the bargain," he said, giving you a crooked grin that was more shadow than smile.
âGuess that means you earned lunch.â You gestured toward the door, and Logan pushed himself off the bed with an ease that didnât match the severity of the injury he'd arrived with. You gave him a skeptical glance but decided to let it slideâfor now.
The two of you walked through the makeshift hospital in comfortable silence. You noticed how other soldiers gave him nods or muttered greetings in passing, even though none of them really knew him. Something about Logan just demanded respectâmaybe it was the way he carried himself, or the way his eyes seemed to see right through you.
At the mess tent, you grabbed two metal trays, handing one to him. âHope youâre not picky. The foodâs... not exactly five-star.â
Logan smirked. âIâve had worse.â
You sat together at a small table, away from the loudest group of soldiers. For a moment, it was almost peaceful, like the war outside didnât exist. Logan picked at his food absently, and you couldnât help but study himâhow his hands moved, how his jaw clenched like he was always bracing for bad news.
âSo... youâve done this before?â you asked, breaking the quiet. âThe soldier thing, I mean.â
Logan glanced at you, something flickering in his expression. âYeah. A few times.â
A few times. The way he said it made it sound like more than just a couple of tours.
âMustâve been rough,â you murmured, stirring your soup. âI canât imagine coming back to it over and over.â
Loganâs gaze lingered on you, and for a second, you felt pinned under the weight of it. Like he knew something you didnât. âYou get used to it,â he muttered, but the sadness in his voice told a different story.
There was a beat of silence, and then you leaned forward slightly, your curiosity getting the better of you. âYou ever... think about what youâd do, you know, if you werenât here? If the war wasnât happening?â
Logan stared at his tray, his jaw tightening like he was biting back something painful. âYeah,â he said quietly. âOnce or twice.â
The way he said it made your chest ache, and before you could stop yourself, you asked, âWhat would you do?â
Loganâs thumb brushed along the edge of his trayâa nervous habit, like he was weighing whether to tell you the truth. âThereâs someone,â he said slowly. âSomeone I thought about settlinâ down with... a long time ago.â
You blinked, surprised by the sudden vulnerability in his voice. âWhat happened?â
Logan looked away, his expression hardening like a door slamming shut. âDidnât work out.â
It wasnât the whole storyâyou could tell that much. But you didnât push. There was something in the way he said it, like the loss was still raw, even if it had happened years ago.
âIâm sorry,â you whispered, unsure why you felt the need to say it.
Logan gave a small shrug, like it didnât matter. But you knew better. It did matter. It mattered a lot.
---
After lunch, the two of you lingered outside the tent, neither of you in a rush to return to the chaos inside. The sun was warm on your face, a rare moment of peace in a world that had been anything but peaceful lately.
âYouâre not what I expected,â you said suddenly, glancing at Logan.
He raised an eyebrow. âWhatâd you expect?â
You shrugged, smiling. âI donât know. Maybe someone more... closed off. But youâre not as much of a mystery as you think.â
Logan chuckled, but there was no humor in it. âYouâd be surprised.â
You bit your lip, studying him. âYou feel... familiar,â you admitted, the words slipping out before you could stop them. âLike weâve met before.â
Logan went still, his expression unreadable. For a moment, you thought he might brush it off with some sarcastic comment. But instead, he looked at you with that same haunted expression youâd seen earlierâthe one that made your chest tighten.
âMaybe we have,â he said quietly, almost to himself.
The words sent a strange chill down your spine. You stared at him, trying to piece together what he meant. But Logan didnât offer any more answers. He just stood there, watching you like he was waiting for something.
Before you could ask, Sandraâs voice called from the distance, snapping you both out of the moment. âY/N! Doctorâs looking for you.â
You sighed, giving Logan a small, reluctant smile. âDuty calls.â
Logan nodded, slipping his hands into his pockets. âYeah. Better get to it.â
You hesitated for just a second longer, something inside you screaming that there was more to thisâmore to him. But instead, you gave him one last smile before turning away.
---
When Logan was alone again, he pulled the ring from his pocket, turning it over in his fingers. The weight of it was familiar, comforting in a way that only hurt more now.
Heâd carried it through battles, through lifetimes, always hopingâmaybe this time. But hope had a way of slipping through his fingers, just like you always did.
Logan clenched the ring in his fist, his jaw tightening. He knew better than to hope. He always did. But still... here you were.
For now, at least.
---
The next day you begrudgingly cleared Logan and showed him to where he would be staying before he got called away for another fight. It was a small quarters, shared with some of the other guys, but it was better than the hospital bed.
You should know. Sometimes youâve taken power naps on those bedsâwhen the hospital got too busy or you needed a break but couldnât leave. They were uncomfortable as hell, but after long hours, you didnât have much choice.
Logan tossed his bag on the bunk, eyeing the cramped quarters. It wasnât muchâjust a room with a few cots and a flimsy curtain dividing it from the rest of the barracksâbut he didnât seem to care.
âYouâll be all right here,â you said, crossing your arms and leaning against the doorframe.
Logan smirked, glancing at the bed like it was just another obstacle in his way. âIâve had worse.â
You gave him a sideways glance, shaking your head slightly. âYeah, Iâm starting to see a pattern with you.â
He chuckled, low and gravelly, the sound doing strange things to your heart. His presence was so... solid. Like heâd been through hell and back, yet here he was, standing in front of you like nothing could break him.
âWell, donât get too comfortable,â you added with a smirk. âThereâs always a chance youâll end up back in the infirmary if youâre not careful.â
Logan raised an eyebrow, leaning back against the wall, his arms crossing over his chest in a way that made the muscles in his forearms flex under his rolled-up sleeves. âYou worried about me, nurse?â
âMaybe I am,â you teased, keeping it light even though part of you was serious. âI donât want to have to stitch you back up.â
He laughed again, softer this time, his gaze lingering on you for a moment longer than just casual. âDonât worry about me. Iâll heal.â
The words hung between you, something unspoken settling in. There was always something deeper with Logan, like the surface of his words barely scratched at the things he carried underneath.
Before you could respond, a couple of soldiers passed by, giving Logan nods of acknowledgment as they went. You noticed the way they looked at him, like he was someone whoâd earned their respect without even trying.
Logan pushed off the wall, moving past you toward the door. âThanks for the room,â he said, glancing over his shoulder. âBut I could use a drink.â
You laughed. âWell, good luck with that. This isnât exactly the Ritz.â
He stopped just outside the door, turning back to you. His eyes were sharp, but there was something softer underneath. âYou wanna join me?â
You paused, surprised by the offer. âAre you askinâ me out, Logan?â
His lips twitched into a half-smile. âJust tryinâ to be friendly.â
You let out a small huff of laughter, shaking your head as you grabbed your cap and followed him. âFine. But if youâre looking for whiskey, youâre gonna be disappointed.â
The two of you walked in comfortable silence for a while, the sound of your boots crunching on the gravel road filling the air. The base had quieted down a bit as the sun dipped lower, the day easing into a calm that didnât come often in a warzone.
As you walked, you couldnât help but sneak a glance at Logan from time to time, trying to figure him out. He was so... different. From anyone youâd met. From any soldier youâd treated. And yet, he felt so familiar.
You found a small spot near one of the mess tents where a few crates had been stacked up like makeshift seats. Logan grabbed a canteen from his jacket, unscrewing the cap before taking a long drink. You raised an eyebrow at him.
âThat better be water,â you joked, taking a seat beside him.
Logan handed you the canteen, smirking. âTry it and find out.â
You took a cautious sip, then immediately coughed, the burn of the alcohol catching you off guard. âGodâwhat is this?â
âSomething I picked up,â Logan said, eyes gleaming with amusement as you wiped your mouth. âFigured itâd help take the edge off.â
You gave him a playful glare, handing the canteen back. âNext time, a little warning, maybe?â
Logan shrugged, grinning. âWhereâs the fun in that?â
You shook your head, smiling despite yourself. âYouâre trouble, Logan.â
He chuckled, leaning back against the crate. âBeen called worse.â
The two of you sat there in comfortable silence for a few moments, passing the canteen back and forth. The alcohol burned, but it wasnât the worst thing youâd ever tastedânot by a long shot. And it did what Logan said it wouldâit took the edge off.
You studied him for a moment, the way he seemed to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders, even when he was sitting still. âYou feel familiar,â you said quietly, your voice almost drowned out by the soft sounds of the base around you. âLike weâve met before.â
Loganâs expression shiftedâjust for a second. His jaw tightened, his gaze flickering away from you and toward the horizon. âMaybe we have,â he murmured, his voice so low you almost didnât catch it.
The words sent a strange, unexplainable shiver down your spine. You opened your mouth to ask him what he meant, but before you could, he stood up, stretching his arms over his head like he was shaking something off.
âCâmon,â he said, his voice lighter now, almost like he was forcing it. âYou ready to head back?â
You blinked, still caught in the haze of the moment. But you nodded, standing up and brushing the dirt from your uniform. âYeah, I guess so.â
The two of you walked back toward the barracks in silence, the air between you feeling heavier now. Something had shiftedâsomething you couldnât quite put your finger on. But you knew it wasnât nothing.
When you reached the barracks, Logan stopped at the door, turning to look at you with an intensity that made your heart skip a beat.
âY/N,â he started, his voice rougher than usual, like he was wrestling with something inside him. âIf... if things ever get bad, you find me. Got it?â
You frowned, surprised by the seriousness in his tone. âLogan, whatââ
âIâm serious,â he interrupted, his hazel eyes locking onto yours. âYou find me. No matter what.â
You swallowed, nodding slowly. âOkay. I will.â
He held your gaze for a second longer, then nodded, like he was satisfied with your answer. âGood.â
Without another word, Logan turned and headed inside, leaving you standing there, the weight of his words settling over you like a heavy blanket.
What did he mean? Why did he look at you like he knew something you didnât?
You lingered there for a moment before finally heading to your own quarters. But even as you lay in bed that night, staring up at the ceiling, Loganâs words echoed in your mind.
You find me. No matter what.
---
The next few days were a strange mix of routine and tension. Logan stayed around the base, mostly keeping to himself, but you found yourself crossing paths with him more often than you expected. Every time, there was that same intensity in his gaze, like he was watching you, waiting for something.
It wasnât uncomfortable, exactly. But it did make your chest tighten every time you saw him.
One evening, as the sun began to set, you found yourself wandering toward the edge of the base, needing a moment to clear your head. The war, the patients, the constant pressureâit was all getting to you. And Logan... well, Logan wasnât making things any easier.
You were so lost in your thoughts that you didnât notice him until he spoke.
âNeed some company?â
You jumped slightly, turning to find Logan leaning against a tree, arms crossed over his chest, a small smirk tugging at his lips.
âJeez, you scared me,â you said, placing a hand over your heart.
âDidnât mean to sneak up on you,â he said, pushing off the tree and walking over to stand beside you. âYou looked like you could use some company.â
You sighed, glancing out at the fading sun. âYeah, I guess I could.â
Logan didnât say anything for a moment, just stood there beside you, his presence solid and reassuring. After a few beats of silence, he spoke.
âYou doinâ all right?â he asked, his voice softer than usual.
You shrugged, trying to brush it off. âItâs just... a lot sometimes, you know?â
Logan nodded, his eyes never leaving your face. âYeah. I get it.â
There was something in the way he said itâsomething that made you believe he really did get it. Like he knew exactly what it felt like to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders.
âThanks for asking,â you said quietly, your gaze still focused on the horizon.
Logan was quiet for a long moment before he spoke again. âI meant what I said before,â he murmured. âYou ever need anything... you come find me.â
You turned to look at him, the seriousness in his voice catching you off guard. âLogan... why are you doinâ this? Why are you looking out for me?â
Loganâs jaw tightened, and for a second, you thought he wasnât going to answer. But then he spoke, his voice low and rough. âBecause... youâre important. More than you know.â
The words hit you like a punch to the gut. Important? How? Why?
Before you could ask, Logan stepped closer, his eyes locked onto yours. âJust promise me,â he said, his voice barely above a whisper. âPromise me youâll come find me if you need to.â
You nodded, your heart pounding in your chest. âI promise.â
Logan held your gaze for a moment longer, then nodded, satisfied. Without another word, he turned and walked away, leaving you standing there, your head spinning with questions.
Youâre important. More than you know.
What did that mean? Why did Logan feel so... familiar?
As the sun dipped below the horizon, you stood there, your mind racing. Logan had secretsâsecrets you werenât sure you were ready to uncover. But one thing was clear: whatever was between the two of you, it wasnât over. Not by a long shot.
---
On another day, you spotted Logan on the outskirts of base, sitting against a truckâs wheel with a notebook in hand.
He looked almost peaceful, maybe the most peaceful youâd ever seen him since he got here. Judging by the way he was moving his pencil, you assumed he was drawing something. You hesitated, not wanting to disturb him, but your curiosity got the better of you.
"Didnât peg you for an artist," you said, walking over and leaning against the truck beside him.
Logan didnât look up right away, just kept sketching, but there was a small smirk on his lips. "You learn a lot when youâve got time," he muttered.
You glanced at the notebook, catching glimpses of rough lines and shadows. âWhatâre you drawing?â
He paused, almost like he wasnât sure if he wanted to show you, then turned the notebook just enough for you to see. It was a sketch of the baseâa surprisingly detailed one, with the buildings and surrounding trees, even some of the soldiers milling about.
âNot bad,â you said, genuinely impressed. âDidnât know you had this in you.â
Logan shrugged, as if it was no big deal. âLike I said, a lot of time.â He looked at you then, and for a brief moment, there was something more behind his eyes, something deeper. âKeeps me grounded.â
You studied him, wondering what that really meant. Logan had always been a bit of a mystery, but there were momentsâlike nowâwhere it felt like there was so much more to him than he let on.
âYou ever thought about doing something with it? You know, beyond just sketches?â you asked, half teasing, half curious.
Logan let out a low chuckle, shaking his head. âIâm not the âshow-off my artâ type. Itâs just... for me.â He glanced back at the drawing, his expression softening in a way you didnât often see. âHelps me forget.â
You nodded, feeling a tug at your chest. âForget what?â
For a moment, he didnât answer. Then he said, âEverything.â
The weight in his voice told you there was more to that statementâmore than you could guess. Youâd learned over the past few days that Logan was carrying his own kind of burden, just like you were. And yet, somehow, it felt like his was so much heavier.
âMust be a lot to forget,â you said softly.
Loganâs gaze flicked up to meet yours, and for a second, you thought he might actually open up. But instead, he just gave a noncommittal grunt and went back to his sketching.
You watched him for a while, feeling the comfortable silence settle between you. It was odd, but Loganâs presence had become... something you looked forward to. Even with all the unspoken tension, being around him made things feel a little less overwhelming.
âI never thanked you,â you said after a while, breaking the quiet. âFor, you know... looking out for me.â
Loganâs pencil paused again, and he glanced up. âYou donât have to thank me.â
âI do,â you insisted, your eyes meeting his. âYou didnât have to. But you did.â
Logan shifted, looking slightly uncomfortable with the gratitude, but his eyes softened. âI told you. Youâre important.â
That word againâimportant. You wanted to ask him why, wanted to press him on what he really meant by that, but something in his expression told you he wasnât ready to answer. Not yet.
âJust⊠stay outta trouble,â Logan said, his voice dropping into something rougher, more serious. âIâd rather not have to pull you out of any more messes.â
You smiled, trying to keep things light. âIâll do my best. But, you know, being a nurse in the middle of a war, trouble kinda finds me.â
Logan let out a soft huff of a laugh, though there wasnât much humor in it. âYeah, I guess it does.â
The sky was growing darker now, the last traces of sunlight fading. You knew you should probably head back to the barracks soon, but something kept you rooted to the spot, standing beside him. The air between you felt charged, like there was something unspoken hanging there, waiting to be acknowledged.
âLogan,â you began, your voice quiet but steady. âWhy does it feel like youâve been watching me? Not just looking out for me, but... like youâve known me.â
Loganâs jaw tightened. His eyes shifted, as if he was deciding whether to answer that. You could feel your heart thudding in your chest, waiting for his response.
âI havenât,â he said finally, though his voice lacked conviction. âNot in the way youâre thinking.â
The way he said it made you frown. âWhat does that mean?â
Loganâs gaze held yours, intense and searching. There was a flicker of something thereâregret? Pain? Before you could figure it out, he looked away, his fingers tightening around the edges of the notebook.
âIt means⊠I donât want you to get hurt,â he said, his voice low, almost a growl. âNot again.â
Again. There it wasâa crack in the wall heâd built around himself. But before you could push him on it, Logan stood abruptly, tucking the notebook under his arm.
âYou should get some rest,â he muttered, not meeting your eyes. âLong day tomorrow.â
You blinked, caught off guard by his sudden shift. âLoganââ
But he was already walking away, his back stiff and his pace quick. You watched him go, your mind spinning with more questions than answers. Something was going on with Loganâsomething bigger than youâd realized.
And you had a feeling you werenât going to let it go until you found out the truth.
---
The next morning you found out that Logan had already gone on some mission to Sicily. You werenât sure why you felt sad, maybe a bit betrayed that he left without saying goodbye, but you did.
You had only known him for a few days, but somehow it seemed longer.
You couldnât just stand around and dwell on Logan leaving without a goodbye. There was work to do. You made your way to the medical tent where a doctor had been prepping for a surgery. As you stepped inside, the familiar scent of antiseptic hit your nose, grounding you in the moment.
"Y/N, glad youâre here. Weâve got a soldier with a bullet wound to the abdomen," the doctor said, his tone brisk. "I need your hands steady and sharp today."
You nodded, pushing thoughts of Logan to the back of your mind. "Got it, Doctor."
The surgery went on for hours, the steady rhythm of your breathing matching the precise movements of your hands as you assisted. It was intense, but you had no time to be distracted. Life and death were real here, and your job was to fight for life.
When the surgery was finally over, the soldier stabilized, you stepped outside the tent to catch your breath. The sky was still overcast, and the damp air felt heavy. You leaned against a wooden post, your hands shaking slightly from the adrenaline.
Logan was gone, but the memory of him lingered. You couldnât shake the feeling that heâd left something unsaid. There had been too many momentsâtoo many heavy, unspoken words between you. You tried to brush it off. It had only been a few days since youâd met him, after all. But somehow, it felt like more.
"Y/N."
You looked up to see one of the other nurses approaching. "Yeah?"
"Youâve been requested to assist with another unit. Theyâre setting up a temporary hospital closer to the front lines. Itâll be rough, but they need experienced hands."
You hesitated. The front lines meant more danger, more chaos. But the soldier in youâthe part that was here to help, to make a differenceâknew you couldnât say no.
"When do I leave?" you asked, straightening up.
"Tomorrow morning, first light."
You nodded, giving a small smile. "Thanks for the heads-up."
That night, you tried to sleep, but your mind kept wandering back to Logan. To his last words before heâd leftâ"I donât want you to get hurt. Not again." What had he meant by âagainâ? It kept echoing in your mind, nagging at you.
---
The next morning came quickly, and before you knew it, you were being packed into a truck heading closer to the front lines. The landscape passed by in a blur, and the closer you got to the new camp, the louder the sounds of war became. Shells exploded in the distance, and the ground seemed to vibrate with tension.
You spent the next few days in a haze of blood, bandages, and exhaustion. There was barely any time to think, let alone dwell on Logan. But still, every once in a while, your thoughts drifted to himâwondering where he was, what he was doing. If he was safe.
It was late one night, a few days into your new assignment, when the unexpected happened. The sirens had started to blare, lights flashing around camp. That could only mean one thing- you were under attack. And judging by the loud engines overhead, none of you were going to make it out alive.
---
Logan had gone with other soldiers to Sicily for Operation Husky. He didnât want to leave you, but part of him thought, hoped, that maybe he was your bad luck charm.
Logan stared at the coastline of Sicily, but his mind was elsewhere. The mission was straightforwardâget in, clear the path for the troops, and secure the area. But no matter how focused he tried to stay, thoughts of you kept creeping back in. He wondered if you were safe. He hoped, for your sake, that you werenât thinking about him as much as he was thinking about you.
It was torture, being away. But deep down, Logan believed it was better this way. Maybe him being around was what doomed you every time. You had died three times before, and each time, he had been there. Maybe this time, distance would keep you safe.
But that didnât stop him from wanting you. The thought of your smile, your laughter, the way you challenged himâit made him ache with something deeper than just desire. It was like an old wound that never healed, no matter how fast the rest of him did.
One of the soldiers called his name, pulling him from his thoughts. âLogan, you with us, man?â
He grunted in response, nodding toward the others. âYeah, Iâm here.â
âGood,â the guy said. âWeâre heading out.â
Logan followed, but his thoughts drifted again, back to you. He had promised himself he wouldnât get attached this time. But it was too late for that. Heâd been attached since 1854, since that first smile, that first laugh.
---
It was a few days before Logan made it back to base, one closer to the frontlines. The mission had gone as planned, but something gnawed at him, an uneasy feeling he couldnât shake.
As soon as the base came into view, Logan noticed something was off. Smoke still lingered in the air, and there were fewer people around than there shouldâve been. His gut twisted. Something had happened while he was gone.
He found one of the soldiers he recognized, grabbing him by the arm. âWhat happened here?â
The guyâs face darkened. âWe were hit. Bombing raid. Caught us off guard. There... there werenât many survivors.â
Loganâs heart dropped. âWhereâs the hospital unit?â
The soldier hesitated, eyes flicking away from Loganâs intense gaze. âIt was one of the first targets. No one made it out.â
Logan felt like the ground had dropped from under him. âWhat do you mean, no one?â His voice was a low growl, almost dangerous.
The soldier shook his head. âIâm sorry, man. They didnât stand a chance.â
Loganâs hands clenched into fists at his sides. The world around him blurred as the words sank in. You were gone. Again.
Without saying another word, Logan turned and walked toward what was left of the hospital tent. He had to see it for himself, even though part of him knew it was true. There was nothing left but rubble and debris.
His chest tightened, the weight of it crushing. You were gone. And he hadnât been there to stop it. Again.
Logan stood there for what felt like hours, staring at the wreckage. He felt that familiar, burning anger rising inside him, but it was mixed with something else this timeâgrief. Deep, raw grief. He wanted to scream, to punch something, anything, but all he could do was stand there, numb.
He reached into his pocket, fingers brushing against the small velvet box he always carried with him. The engagement ring. The one he had never used.
It had been almost ninety years since he bought it. And still, he carried it, hoping one day he might finally be able to give it to you. But every time, every life, you slipped through his fingers.
Logan swallowed hard, his throat tight. He wasnât sure how much more of this he could take. How many more times he could lose you.
âDammit,â he muttered under his breath, his voice rough with emotion.
He had thought putting distance between you two would protect you. But it didnât matter. You were gone, just like the other times.
And now, once again, he was left with nothing but memories and that damned ring.
in this chapter logan is 111 years old and reader is around 24-27 years old.

Laying in his bed he stared at his phone wondering If he should call you. Your last phone call hadnât exactly ended the best. Things between you had started to become strained. The call ended with you telling him you werenât just his booty call and hung up on him leaving him with a major case of blue balls.
Things with you two werenât always like this. You were friends long before you started hooking up. You met Seungcheol through his roommate. You and Joshua worked together and youâre really close with his girlfriend. You just so happen to also live in the same building as him. You lived one floor above him. When you met Seungcheol youâre pretty sure Joshua's plan was for you to date his roommate. There was a clear instant attraction between the two of you, but things didnât work out. The timing was bad. You were nursing a broken heart, and Seungcheol started to see a new girl. Even though you didnât start anything romantic you and him became very close. You would often hang out with the roommates and Joshua's best friend before they became official.
From the beginning you couldnât really kick your small crush you had grown to have on Seungcheol. When you started sleeping together your little crush didnât magically go away either. You just did a good job at burying it. You were fine with being friends with benefits. You just hated when Seungcheol treated you like just his fuck buddy. You like to remind him that youâre friends before anything else. Recently heâs been kind of distant and when you hook up it feels like the lights are on but no oneâs home. Heâs not caring like he normally is.
Your last call when he asked you âto come over and fuckâ pissed you off. You didnât want to just go over for sex. You normally hang out first and then it would lead into to sex. You never called him with just the intention of sex, and in the beginning he didnât either.
It was four in the morning and he couldnât sleep and he knew only your voice could soothe him to sleep after such a shitty day at work. He laid in the darkness of his room with the only light coming from his phone.
Unlocking his phone, he scrolled through his contacts and saw your name with a heart next to it. Taking his bottom lip between his teeth he pressed your name.
Holding his phone to his ear he listened as it rang praying you would pick up. He knew you were probably sound asleep and probably wouldnât be exactly the happiest that he was waking you up. You also had a full day at work, and from what his roommate had told him. Work has been pretty tough for you and Joshua this week.
On the fifth ring he heard your raspy voice, âSeungcheol, why are you calling me four in the morning?â
He swallowed slowly, âI couldnât sleep and your voice always calms me down.â
Your soft laugh echoed in his ears, âdid you wake me up for phone sex?â
His eyes roamed his dark room for a moment wondering if thatâs deep down inside why he called you. âNo,â he whispered.
âChoi Seungcheol, why did you call me then?â You yawned. He never liked the sound of his name more than when it was spoken by you.
âI just wanted to hear your voice,â he sighed. âIâve missed you.â
He wasnât lying, he missed the sound of your voice and he missed being able to hold you. He had barely seen you in two weeks, and he hadnât been able to talk to you on the phone since you had hung up on him.
âDo you really miss me?â He could picture you half asleep lying in your bed.
âYeah,â he rasped.
âIâm sorry I hung up on you last time,â you sighed.
âI need to treat you better. I know you're not a booty call,â he stretched his body out and rolled onto his side looking over to the empty side of the bed where he wished you were laying.
âCheol, did you want me to come over?â You sighed. He loves when you call him that. You instantly latched on to his nickname right after being introduced.
âHow about I come to you baby girl?â he asked. Your heart always flutters when he calls you that. You love when he calls you your name, but being called âbaby girlâ makes you melt.
âIâll come to you but this isnât a booty call?â You stated.
âWe donât have to do anything. I just want to cuddle,â he sat up in his bed and pushed his fingers through his hair.
âCuddling sounds nice. Iâll walk down to yours and Shauâs place right now. You better have the door unlocked,â you softly.
âIâm getting up right now.â He says before you hang up.
He quickly got out of his bed and quietly walked down the hallway towards the front door. He opened the door to find you standing outside with a hoodie on and a pair of tiny shorts. You didnât say anything. You silently walked past him and headed off towards Seungcheolâs room.
He smiled as he followed behind you. You took your hoodie off and placed it on the floor next to the bed and then crawled into the bed and pulled the covers up. He crawled in behind you and moved his body close to yours so you were spooning. This has always been his favorite way to sleep with you. He loves being able to hold you close to him.
His lips ghosted your shoulder as he nuzzled against you. âI miss you baby girl,â he murmured.
âI missed you too.â He hands rest on your stomach pulling you even closer to him. âCheol what are we?â You asked him the question that had been on your mind for months.
âI donât know,â he sighs.
âI donât like that answer,â you place your hand on top of his.
âWhat do you want us to be?â He knows you need to have this conversation but heâs scared.
âI wanna be yours.â
He pulls away from you. You lay on your back looking up at him. His eyebrows are knit together as he stares at you looking confused. âYouâre already mine.â
âNot fully,â reaching up and resting your hand on his cheek.
âWhat do you want me to do?â He asked.
âI donât want to be just your fuck buddy anymore. I want you to be more.â
âIâll do anything you want. If you want us to be more. Letâs be more.â He gives you a gentle smile.
Leaning down he presses his lips to your for a heated kiss. âLet me show you how I care for you.â When you originally came over you told yourself you wouldnât sleep with Seungcheol tonight. But things have seemed to drastically change between you.
âI donât want you to fuck me. I want you to show me how much you care,â you sigh.
âIâm going to take care of you.â
Soon your clothes are stripped away just like Seungcheol. Laying in his bed completely bare with your legs spread. He was kissing his way across your skin. Your eyes were closed as you took in the feeling of his lips on your skin.
As his lips brushed your sensitive nub you couldnât help but moan. Seungcheol knew all the ways to drive you wild. He knew that if he ever wanted to turn you on all he had to do was kiss the sweet skin right below your ear. Often you would be hanging out and he would come up behind you and brush your hair out of the way and press his lips to the sweet spot upon your skin.
Your fingers tangled in his hair as he laid between your legs pushing you closer and closer to your release. A white hot wave washes over you as you moan his name.
Looking up from between your legs he stared at you in awe. According to him you never looked more beautiful than you do after you come.
Soon he was hovering over your soft body slowly thrusting into you. He rested on his forearms so he was as close as possible to you. Your lips moved together desperate to stay close.
âFuck,â he moans against your lips.
Your leg hooks over his butt pulling him close to you. Heâs thrusting into you at a slow but deep pace.
âCheol youâre so big.â Youâll never get over the feeling of him stretching you. Youâve never been with anyone as big as him. Heâs so thick it always takes a little bit to adapt to the feeling of stretching you open.
âYou take me so well.â
Your eyes are practically rolling back in your head. With each thrust his bulbous head is nudging your g spot over and over again.
âIâm close,â you whimper.
âAre you coming to come on my cock?â You love when he talks to you like this.
âPlease,â youâre trying to stay somewhat quiet. You arenât sure if Seungcheolâs roommate Joshua is home.
âBaby you can come,â he groans. You fall apart moments before him. He finds his own release pairing your walls white with his thick come. He slowly thrust into you, helping you ride out your high.
Seungcheol is still inside of you hovering above. Leaning up you pressed your lips to his for a gentle kiss. âItâs like you were made for me,â his voice was low as he stared into your bright eyes.
âI sure hope that we were made for each other,â you reached up and ran your fingers through his soft hair.
He removed himself from you and laid down on his bed. He looked over at you and smiled, and you knew you were always supposed be more then just fuck buddies. Youâre glad you can now see him as more than just a friend. He gets up and cleans up your release.
âCan you hold me,â you ask, reaching for him. Crawling into bed he pulls your body close to yours. Your head rest on his chest and his hand slowly rubs your back making you relax even more. âThis is nice.â
âThank you for coming over. Iâm sorry if I hurt you in the past. Iâm gonna try to never hurt you again.â
âThis is new for both of us, but weâll figure this out together.â
Snuggling close to him, things feel different in the best way possible. It didnât take long before you fell asleep with you in his arms.

Cyana never meant for it to get this far.
It had started off pretty mild, she'd wake up earlier than usual, take a morning run to the company and get a head start on practice. She'd stay later than the others too, insisting they go home without her and that she'd join them a bit later. Just one more time, she'd say, as she cued up the song once again. Just one more time, she'd say again after that, and by then it would already be close to midnight.
She stared at herself in the mirror, shaking with frustration and fatigue. Her chest heaved harshly as she tried desperately to calm her breath.
Hoshi shot her a worried glance. "Nana, take a break."
She shook her head. "I'm fine."
"Practice is done anyways. The car's ready, pack up." He grabbed her hand to drag her towards their things.
Cyana shook her hand out from his grasp, shooting him a tired smile. "You can go first, Soonie. I'll stay a little bit longer. I want to try Getting Closer again."
Hoshi frowned at her words. "We've already stayed late, nana-yah. Everyone's already left. And you've been staying late for the past two weeks. Let's take a break, okay?"
She shook her head stubbornly. "It's fine, really."
He looked at her apprehensively, not quite believing her. Sighing, he reluctantly agreed, knowing there was no stopping her. "Please be home by at least two am."
She nodded absentmindedly, already turning back around to cue up the track. She made sure Hoshi really had left before continuing, concentrating on perfecting her angles and facial expression. She had failed the company test - when the higher-ups came and decided she wasn't good enough - her ego burned from the hit and she vowed to work even harder. The members had told her she was already amazing, but she couldn't believe them if the company officials didn't think so.
She hadn't told any of the boys she hadn't been returning home. Most of her essentials were stored safely in one of the drawers in their practice room - saving her both the time and energy it took to return home. This way she could wash up and change before immediately getting back to practice.
"Oh, Jeonghan oppa." She answered when he called her phone.
"Nana, where are you?" His voice sounded muffled and tired. "Hoshi texted and said you're still at the company."
She checked the time. 3:26 AM. "Oh. I decided to crash at Mingyu's place." She lied, wincing. She hated lying to him whenever he called to check in. It was pure luck that no one really ever confirmed with Mingyu that she had actually been staying over. "I'm about to go to sleep. You should too, oppa."
She heard Jeonghan sigh in relief. "Okay, good. Goodnight, Nana." He hung up, probably way too tired.
Placing her phone back down on the floor, she glanced once again at the time. It was late. Her body was sore and she was starting to feel a little dizzy. Dragging her feet towards the connected washroom, she was glad they'd installed showers. Cleaning herself up and changing, she returned back to the practice room and crashed on the couch. Just a couple hours, she thought to herself.
"Cyana."
She opened her eyes, squinting at the brightness and letting out a groan. "What time is it?"
A very confused Dino stared back at her. "7 AM." He helped her to sit up, frowning when he saw her wince. "Why are you sleeping here?"
Her eyes widened when she remembered where she was. She inwardly kicked herself for oversleeping. Usually she was able to wake up, get ready and change before everyone else began arriving. They always just assumed she had been the first to arrive. "I-" Feeling rather caught, Cyana could only stare up at Dino wordlessly.
He seemed to catch on rather quickly. "Cyana." He looked at her, disappointment written plainly across his face. "Have you been living here?"
"No!" She protested, knowing he'd 100% tell Jeonghan if she admitted to it and Jeonghan would 100% kill her. "I was just practicing last night and fell asleep, that's all."
He gave her a weird look. "Alright, just-" He sighed. "You really don't need to be pushing yourself so hard. You're already ready."
Cyana gave him a hard stare. Perhaps it was the pain or the lack of sleep, but her nerves were wearing thin. She pushed herself off the couch, walking to the washroom. Splashing water on her face, she attempted to wake herself up.
"Please don't tell the others." She begged Dino once she returned. "Please please please." He looked unconvinced. "Please." She said again. "They'll kill me and you know it."
He sighed. "Fine." He pointed a finger at her, his poor attempt at being stern. "But you've got to promise me it's the last time."
"Got it." She promised, although she knew she'd probably end up breaking it. "Thanks, Chan."
He laughed softly, wrapping his arms gently around her waist, frowning when he felt how skinny she had gotten. He was about to comment on it when the practice doors opened and a hoard of members rushed in, all still slightly half-asleep.
"Aigoo~" Seungkwan cooed at the position they'd caught them in. "Our maknaes are so cute."
Dino flushed, trying to pull away but pausing when he realized Cyana was leaning on him, her eyes closed.
"Is she okay?" Jun mumbled, sipping on his ice coffee and glancing at the girl.
"Hm?" Cyana opened an eye, jumping a bit at the sudden appearance of so many people. "Oh! You're all here."
"Yup." Vernon walked over, ruffling her hair. "You ready?"
She sighed, reluctantly detaching herself from Dino, shivering at the loss of his body heat. "I guess."
Jeonghan had thought something was off from the way Cyana sounded over the phone. She sounded sick and incredibly out of it, her words slurring slightly as she spoke to him. He would've pressed the girl for more answers, but Hoshi's text had woken him up mid-sleep and he was aching to the state of passing out.
Even as they started practice, Jeonghan's mind drifted from the choreo over to Cyana. His mental list of things wrong with her had been gradually growing over the week and he was getting concerned.
Jeonghan's mental list with things that are wrong about Cyana:
She's been saying over at Mingyu's a suspicious amount. Sure, he could understand, the Minwon residence was easily the quietest out of the bunch, and Mingyu was Cyana's closest friend. He figured Wonwoo was in his room most times anyways.
The amount of canceled plans the boys have been complaining about to him was increasing. It felt like every couple days, at least one member would approach him requesting a therapy session, where they just complained about how Cyana was ditching them for their usual hangouts.
He rarely ever saw the girl anywhere but the company. Under any other circumstance it would've been normal, but Cyana had expressed before she hated the feeling of captivity the company gave her.
He couldn't remember the last time he'd seen her eat something.
He could've continued listing reasons in his head, had it not been for the loud thud and a piercing screech that followed it. He froze mid dance move and spun towards the noise.
Cyana was on the floor, Woozi a mere step away from her as he crouched down to examine her. DK was apologizing for the loud scream, although he continued to panic loudly.
"I think she fainted." Woozi concluded, voice calm. His furrowed eyebrows were the only sign he was worried.
"Fainted?" DK gasped out loud.
Mingyu reached down and scooped the girl into his arms, depositing her on the couch. "Yeah, she's out."
"Is she injured?" Seungcheol asked, hovering over her as Mingyu checked. He sighed with relief when Mingyu shook his head. "It was a loud thud."
Jeonghan let out a groan of both realization and disappointment.
"What." Seungcheol whipped his head around at the sound of Jeonghan's groan. "Do you know something?" He pointed at Cyana, who was still laying limply on the couch, head supported by Mingyu's large hand. "Why is she like this?"
Jeonghan raised his hands in defence. "I only suspected. I mean- I thought it was weird she was sleeping over at Mingyu and Wonwoo's so often recently but-"
"What?" Wonwoo cut him off. "She hasn't been over since-" He flushed at the memory. "Since she hurt her ankle."
And all at once, the pieces seemed to fall into place in Jeonghan's mind.
"She's been living here, hasn't she." Dino beat him to the punch, stating what he had just realized. "I found her here asleep when I came in this morning."
They all turned to Seungcheol, who seemed to be at a loss for words, staring at Cyana.
Cyana awoke just in time to see Seungcheol leave, the practice room door swinging shut behind him. She struggled to get up, as strong hands grabbed her and situated her to lean back. A bottle of water was shoved wordlessly into her hands by Vernon, already opened.
"You scared us." Mingyu muttered, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
She was vaguely aware of the other boys standing around her. Her ears still rang but she could faintly hear Woozi talking to Jun.
"I swear I tried to catch her. I didn't let her drop on purpose." He was defending himself to a wary Jun. "I'm not that mean."
She would have smiled at how defensive he sounded had it not been for the glowering face of Jeonghan, who was staring holes into her skull.
"Everyone out, please." Jeonghan signalled the others to give them the room. He sat down next to Cyana, letting out a loud sigh once everyone had left.
She knew she was in for it now.
"You wanna tell me what's been going on?" He said quietly, rubbing the seam of her sleeve between his thumb and index finger. "No lies this time."
She felt a lump form in her throat. "Jeonghan-"
"I'm not mad, Cyana." He looked at her sadly. "I just want to know why you haven't been taking care of yourself."
On any other occasion, she would have argued that he was mad. He hadn't used 'Nana' when saying her name.
"You haven't been staying at Mingyu's, I know that for a fact. And you've been canceling plans with the members. You also haven't been eating well. Jun says you rarely take the breakfast he sets aside for you." He continued, frowning when he saw her eyes well up with tears.
"I'm sorry." It was all she could muster.
"I don't care that you lied, Cyana." Jeonghan wiped her tears away with the pad of his thumb. "Just tell me why. Are we doing something wrong?"
She shook her head frantically. "No." God no.
"Then why?"
She finally looked up from her lap to see him, feeling an ache in her chest when she saw how desperate his expression was.
"The company officials-" She paused, and Jeonghan nodded for her to go on. "they said I wasn't good enough. Not quite good enough to debut with seventeen. They said they had a lot bet on me but I was disappointing them."
She got worried when he stayed silent. "Oppa?" She whispered, reaching out tentatively to shake him.
He laced his hand in hers before she could reach him. "I'm sorry they said all that." He turned to look at her, a serious expression taking over his face. "But you know they're wrong, and even if you think they're right, you shouldn't have risked your own health like that."
Cyana nodded. "I know. I just-" She tried to find the words to explain. "I just wanted to debut so badly. I wanted to look good onstage next to all of you." It was a lame explanation but it was the best she could give.
"I know." Jeonghan nodded. "And you will." He pointed at the large mirrors on the wall in front of where they sat. "I watch you dance with us everyday through those mirrors. And you look beautiful. Full of talent and raw power."
She let out a shaky breath.
"Is that why you haven't been eating your meals?" He asked, looking back at her. "Did they say something about that too?"
She nodded. It was perhaps the comment that had hurt her the most. "They said I looked too heavy. That I was supposed to be a girl member. Not a boy."
Jeonghan let out a huff. "Who the fuck-" He muttered, almost to himself. "Give me the names of the people, I'll talk to them."
Cyana smiled despite the heavy setting. "They're higher-ups, Hannie. You can't do anything."
"Psh." Jeonghan waved away her concern. "Still. I'll write their names down and get rid of them once we're big enough."
She supposed she admired his optimism. "Okay." She relented. "I'll find their names and text them to you."
Jeonghan leaned his head on the crook of her shoulder, slouching a bit to reach it. "You know we love you, right?"
She didn't say anything.
"You don't have to believe it now." He said softly. "I know you're a bit weird about stuff like that." He squeezed her hand firmly. "Just need you to hear it."
She nodded. "Okay."
They sat in silence for awhile, and Cyana's ears stopped ringing. "Where did Seungcheol-oppa go?" She whispered, curious but not wanting to ruin the peacefulness of the moment.
Jeonghan cracked an eye open from his spot on her shoulder. "He's dealing with it his own way."
"Dealing with what?"
He sat up straight to look at her. "You fainting. He's our leader, he's going to feel the responsibility."
She frowned. "It's not his fault though."
Jeonghan shrugged. "It's just how he works. He's going to blame himself for not noticing it all sooner either way. Even if it's not his fault."
She stood up, swaying a bit before steadying herself. "I'm gonna go look for him, is that okay?"
She could swear Jeonghan was smirking a little. "I think he'd like that."
She found him in one of the empty studios. Seungcheol was sitting on one of the chairs when she walked in, head in his hands. He got up quickly once he heard the sound of her footsteps.
"Cyana." He breathed out, thankful she was okay. "How are you feeling?"
"Better." She whispered, sitting down and motioning gently for him to join her. She watched him hesitate before he sat down next to her.
"You shouldn't have pushed yourself so hard." Seungcheol scolded her.
"I know."
"And you should've told someone you weren't going back to the dorm. You should've let me know how much you were struggling."
"I know."
He let out an exasperated sigh. "Tell me what happened. Everything leading up to today. I assume this has been going on for awhile."
She could tell from his face he meant business, so she told him without a fight. She recited everything - the skipped meals, the ditching hangouts, the sleeping in the practice room, the toothbrush and skincare hidden in the drawers - all of it. She saw his face twist in pain when she got to the part about the company officials.
"You should've told me." He whispered, once she was all done.
"I thought perhaps you didn't want to know." She admitted.
He looked astonished she would even say such a thing. His mouth opened and closed again as he reconsidered his choice of words. "I'm your leader, Cyana. I care about this team."
"And I'm doing my job." She said, not getting what he meant. Wasn't SEVENTEEN doing quite well? And the team would do even better if she was perfect for the comeback.
Seungcheol didn't know if he wanted to strangle her and cry. "Let me reiterate." He looked at her. "I care about you, Cyana. Not the comeback."
She blinked. "Oh."
He felt more like crying, Seungcheol decided. She looked so fragile and confused at the mere thought of him even caring about her. A burning sense of rage fuelled through him. Who on earth had taught her to be so skeptical of care and love?
Cyana panicked when she saw the tears in Seungcheol's eyes. "Please don't cry." She whispered frantically, not knowing what would happen to her if she saw the dependable and strong Seungcheol break down.
"Our maknae~" Seungcheol whispered back, reaching over to brush his hand against her cheek. "Maybe I didn't do well enough, to show you you belong here. I tried being a strong leader, guiding everyone through the comeback, letting you adjust to how busy life in SEVENTEEN can be. But maybe you needed more of a gentle touch? Something more personal?" At this point he seemed to be talking to himself. "I know I didn't really take the time to connect with you on a deeper level like the others did. I was so focused on guiding you through work. I must've done something wrong, if you felt like you needed to hide this much from me. Push yourself this far."
Cyana's lips trembled as she desperately held back tears. "It's not your fault."
"It is." Seungcheol corrected her quietly. "I always strived to be a leader you could tell anything to." He paused, looking at her with sad eyes. "I'm sorry you felt the need to break yourself so much to make this comeback happen. I'm sorry the company said such harsh things. I should've noticed."
Cyana felt the sudden strong urge to give him a hug. It confused her. She only ever felt comfortable enough to initiate any sort of contact with Jeonghan, Dino, Joshua or Mingyu. Yet, when Seungcheol finished his speech and looked at Cyana with those sad, wide eyes, she decided perhaps she could make an exception. She leaned slightly in his side, stiffing slightly when his arms wrapped around her frame.
"It's not your fault." She managed to say again, telling herself to relax into his hold.
"I know it's not logical."
Cyana let out a breathy laugh. "I am sorry I lied to Jeonghan."
"I know." Seungcheol pulled her a little closer. "Please don't ever do this again. All of it. You're much more important than a silly comeback."
She nodded. "I won't."
"I'll talk with the company about the whole test thing. They shouldn't have done that, or said those things. And you need to start eating." Now that he was hugging her, he could feel just how malnourished she was. He felt as if he could accidentally snap her just by moving the wrong way. "I'll talk to the stylists too. Everyone needs a good reminder that you're part of SEVENTEEN forever."
Cyana's face flushed. "I'm sorry." She mumbled again, feeling bad for making him so worried. "I didn't know it'd hurt you so much."
Seungcheol let her go, giving her a sad look. "I hated seeing you like that. You were so pale and fragile."
She didn't know what to do with the amount of loving words she was receiving today. She looked away awkwardly. "I'll be more careful now, I promise."
She could hear the smile that overtook his face despite not looking at him. "Good." He said. "Start getting it into your head that you're important."
Both Jeonghan and Seungcheol monitored her as she cleared out her drawer and any other sign that she had been living in the practice room. She promised them both that she'd return everything back home and that she'd keep them there.
"You scared me." DK whined. "I thought you'd died."
Cyana was grateful at how lighthearted the atmosphere was once her and Seungcheol had returned to the practice room. Everyone was still obviously worried, but they seemed to have all decided not to sour the mood further. Everyone had noticed the watery eyes from both Cyana and Seungcheol as they returned but pretended not to.
"I'm sorry~" Cyana smiled at DK's dramatics.
"Ah, hyung- it was your scream that scared me the most." Dino butted in, cackling at the memory. "I was mid move and I heard a blood-curdling cry. I thought I was in a horror movie."
The others laughed along, each of them relating to the younger boy.
Joshua sidled up to Cyana amidst the chaos Dino's remark had brought, holding her waist to support her as his eyes roamed her face for any sign of lingering fatigue. "You sure you're alright?"
Cyana nodded, grateful for the warmth radiating from his body. "Yeah. Sorry."
He shook his head. "No more apologizing. Just join Hoshi, Seungkwan, Myungho and I for dinner later today, okay? We're going to check out this new restaurant Hoshi found online."
"Okay."
From the other side of the room, Seungcheol clapped for everyone's attention. "Okay! We're resuming practice!" He looked at Cyana. "You're going home." He pointed at her. "Don't argue with me."
"What?" She protested. She was feeling fine. "I'm fine!" She insisted.
Her remark was met by a roomful of protests, even Woozi and Wonwoo joined in as everyone told her to get the fuck home.
"No really!" She protested again once the noise died down. "Please, Coups-oppa. I won't push myself too hard, promise."
She watched him think it over. She could practically see it as he fought himself. "Fine." He finally relented. "But-"
She paused her celebration.
"You're sitting out for practice. You can watch and take notes, but no dancing."
She sighed, but she knew it was the best she was getting out of him. "Fine."
As she sat on the couch, notebook in hand as she took notes on the performance, she couldn't help but glance towards their leader. He was working hard, giving 120% like he did with everything he put his mind to. She felt a glow of gratitude towards him. For a second, she allowed herself to believe that perhaps she did belong here, with these people. And perhaps him and Jeonghan were right - those people had just been mean and she was already good the way she was.
author's note: wahhhh thank you so much for reading! this one was quite a ride - writing about scoups as the leader always sends tears to my eyes, we truly don't deserve him. next fic is cyana's debut fic (finally!)

My fav random elf headcanon is that, since the first thing the first elves saw upon waking up were the stars, it's super important to them that their babies see the stars early on too.
I imagine in Tirion they paint the ceiling of their bedroom to look like the nightsky in anticipation, so that this will be the first thing the child can see.
In Menegroth it has become customary to celebrate the child's birth a few days after it has been born by inviting everyone to go above ground together, to a clearing at night to witness the first time the baby is underneath the nightsky.

Enemies to lovers
#18 âLetâs play a gameâŠFirst one to make a noise looses.â
*******************************************************
Yoongi: I swear Y/N if sheâs not ready when I get thereâŠ
You: Omg Yoongi it was one time and she had an accident right before you got here. Let it go alreadyâŠ
You sighed as you tossed your phone aside. He was on his way to pick up your daughter for the week and apparently was set on never letting you forget the one time he got stuck in rush hour traffic on his way home because your daughter wasnât ready as soon as he got there.
Things hadnt always been this bad between the two of you. At one point you were a loving happy couple and that only increased when your daughter, Hana, was born. Yoongi was the most the incredible husband and father and you couldnât imagine your life any other way.
But a few months after she was born things started to fall apart.
Hana suffered from acid reflux so she was up most of the night crying. You and Yoongi took turns tending to her but by the time you would finally fall back asleep sheâd wake up again and it was your turn to get up. Yoongi was working overtime trying to support all of you so that you could stay at home with the baby as long as possible so 99% of the household responsibilities also fell on your shoulders. You had reached a level of exhaustion you didnât know was possible which led to the two of you not having much alone time together and any time you did spend in each other presence usually involved an argument of some sort.
They started as common arguments between couples like housework, bills, and making time for each other.
But over time the arguments turned into petty little thingsâŠYoongi blinked too much, you used too many periods when texting, he didnât like the way you said the word rainbow, he wore his green sweater too much.
The final straw was the argument on this birthday. You had put together a surprise party which he never showed up for. Instead he texted you that his boss wanted to take him out to dinner and he was really working hard towards a promotion so he didnât want to say no. He promised to spend the entire weekend with you and Hana to make up for it.
You were beyond upset, but you understood he was just trying to better your lives so you did your best to cool down. It wasnât until later that evening after everyone had left and Hana was asleep that you finally broke. Yoongiâs boss, Mr. Kim who you were friends with on social media, had posted a photo congratulating Yoongi on his new promotion. At first you were ecstatic. He had worked so hard for this and maybe now he could remove some of the stress and have more time at home. But then you saw itâŠor her.
Park Duri. She was technically Mr. Kimâs assistant but for some reason was always involved in Yoongiâs schedule. He talked about her a lot. Youâd met her a few times and she seemed nice but you always got an uncomfortable feeling whenever you were around her and Yoongi together.
It infuriated you but mostly just hurt you that she spent your husbands birthday with him and also witnessed him get his promotion all while you sat at home eating cold left overs alone.
What brought you to tears though was seeing his arm wrapped so tightly around her shoulders while she leaned into him. He had the biggest gummy smile. He looked so happy. A happy you hadnât seen in him since the day Hana was born. He certainly never looked that happy around you any more.
That night he stumbled into the bedroom after having one too many drinks in celebration, passing out on the bed without saying a word to you. That night you made up your mind. The next morning you called a lawyer and filed for divorce.
Things were bitter between the two of you ever since. The only positive was Yoongi was still a very present and loving father which is all you could ask of him. You just wished the two of you could be in a room together for more than a few minutes without blowing up at each other.
âShe ready?â, he questioned as soon as you opened the door.
âWell hello to you too.â
âHello my dearest soon to be ex wife. How are things down in hell where you come from?â, he spat clenching his jaw.
âYou know what Yoongi why donât you go fuc-âYou had to stop your comment as you heard your daughter come running to the entrance way.
âDaddy!â, she shouted as she jumped into his arms.
âI missed you so much Hana Banana.â, he said giving her cheek a kiss.
âTell your mother goodbye.â, he mumbled already half way down the hallway. You gave your daughter a hug and told her to behave before handing her the pink overnight bag she had and watched as she skipped down the hall with her hand tightly gripped onto Yoongiâs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You were nervous like extremely very incredibly nervous. You and Yoongi had to meet with your lawyers today to try and hammer out the last few details of your divorce. If you could get this done then you just had to go back in a week to sign everything and the divorce would be final.
âNo absolutely not.â, Yoongi said making your eyes roll.
âWhy not Yoongi? You get custody of Hana 50% of the time. Iâm not asking for any money other than requesting we split all bills for Hana 50/50. I already have my own apartment and so do you. We have separate cars and separate bank accounts. What else could you possibly want?â, you shouted getting very irritated. Every single time you guys had tried to come to a conclusion in the divorce Yoongi found a way to drag it on just to spite you.
âI want something in here about us not letting Hana meet our future partners without the other parent meeting them first.â, he said pointing at the contract.
âWhat!! Absolutely not? Youâre not MY father and have no say in who I date.â
âNo but I am Hanaâs father and I deserve to know about the men that youâre bringing around her. I shouldnât have to find out from our five year old how youâve been bringing some guy named Jimin, whoâs apparently very handsome, around the apartment. I mean come on Y/NâŠweâre not even officially divorced. I never took you for that type.â
âAnd what.type.is.that?â, you hissed.
âThe type to go around fucking other men before they are even officially divorced from their husbands.â
âEXCUSE me!! First off Jimin is Hanaâs ballet teacher whoâs been coming over to give her private lessons. She has a little crush on him. Maybe youâd know that if you actually talked to her and asked her questions about her life. Secondly, you have a lot of nerve accusing me like that. If I was sleeping with Jimin, which Iâm not, at least I waited until we were separated.â
âWhat is that supposed to mean?â, he asked hurt and offended because he already knew what you were getting at.
âOh cut the bullshit Yoongi. I know you were cheating on me with Duri and who knows who else. Thatâs why you always came home late smelling like another womenâs perfume. Thatâs why we stopped being intimate. Thatâs why you stopped telling me you loved me. Isnât it Yoongi?â
You were so angry by this point you couldnt see straight but it felt good to get that off your chest until you could feel tears forming. You hated crying in front of others, especially Yoongi.
Your lawyer Jin cleared his throat before giving wide eyes to Yoongiâs lawyer Namjoon. âUmm maybe we should continue this next week.â, Namjoon whispered somewhat afraid to get in between you two.
âYes good idea.â, Jin said packing up his brief case. You stood up as well slinging your purse over your shoulder.
âY/N waitâ, Yoongi said but you stopped him, âNo go fuck yourself Yoongi. Iâm done.â
âRight back at you.â, he scoffed as you slammed the door behind you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
âTae, he knows heâs supposed to run it by me first if someone else is going to be picking up Hana other than him.â, you said feeling bad for the irritation in your voice. It wasnât Taehyungâs fault at all. He put his hands up in defense, âI know I know. He said it was urgent and he would explain it to you later.â
You wanted to say no but Hana had already seen him at the door and was currently dancing around the house shouting party at Uncle Taesâs and you did trust him completely so you gave in and let him take her with a mental note to scold Yoongi later.
While you missed Hana dearly during these times you did appreciate having some alone time so you were sat on the couch in your comfy pjs with a glass of your favorite wine as you got caught up on a drama you had been sucked into.
The doorbell rang forcing you to get up and answer it and you really wished you hadnât.
âYoongi? Hana is with Tae.â, you said feeling a slight increase in panic.
He nodded, âI know.â
âOh my god are they okay? Did something happen?â
He chuckled, âTheyâre fine.â He even showed you a photo he received of Hana giving Taehyung a full beauty makeover. You felt relief at seeing her okay and happy.
âOkay then why are you here?â, you questioned.
He held up a bag from your favorite bakery a few streets away, âI want to talk. No lawyersâŠno shoutingâŠno arguing. We just need to talk like civil adults.â
You shook your head, âI donât know Yoongi. That sounds like a bad idea. At least the lawyers could call the police when we kill each other.â
He chuckled at that, âPlease Y/N.â For the first time in a long time you saw something in his eyes other than anger so you agreed and let him in.
After a few cookies and a few episodes of your drama you turned to him, âAlright, what do you want to talk about?â
âWellâŠfirst I want to apologize for what I said during the meeting with the lawyers the other day. I guess I was just kind of hurt and maybe a little jealous because I thought you had already moved on with someone else. But after thinking about itâŠI have no place to feel like that so you can do whatever you want with whoever you want. I just think we should agree to not introduce anyone to Hana for a while.â
âI agreeâŠbut Iâm not interested in dating anyone right now. But if youâŠif you want to then I donât care.â, you quickly added though he shook his head, âIâm good. I want to focus on work and Hana for a while.â
You nodded in agreement.
âI uh I also want you to know that I never cheated on you. I swear on Hana. Iâve never even thought about it.â, he said while pulling on his earlobe, a nervous habit of his.
âYou came home smelling like perfume, many times Yoongi.â
âI knowâŠI know but thereâs an explanation for that which isnât me cheating.â
You rolled your eyes, âOh I canât wait to hear this one.â You could tell he wanted to say something back but bit his tongue making you feel a little guilty.
âY/N, do you remember on our first anniversary I gave you those flowers.â, you nodded, âWell I didnât pay for themâŠactually I never paid for any of them.â
âYou thief! Seriously Yoongi you were risking going to prison over flowers?â
âWill you shut up and give me the chance to explain?â, he barked. You huffed but leaned back into the couch.
âI had severely under estimated how expensive flowers had become. Thanks to all of our bills and our furnace breaking the week before I couldnât afford to buy them. I started crying in the shop because I felt like the worst husband ever. The elderly woman who owned the place asked what was wrong and after some convincing I told her. She told me how her husband used to bring her flowers every week and it gave her something to look forward to no matter how tough of a time they were going through. So she gave me a small bouquet to give to you. I reminded her that I couldnât pay but she said she only wanted a hug. So the next week after I got paid at work I went back to get you more flowers and pay her back for the first bunch but she wouldnât accept my payment. She only wanted a hug. She did that every time that I went in there and thatâs why I came home smelling like perfume. I never cheated with herâŠI mean⊠she did grab my butt once but I wouldnât really count that.â
You chuckled at the mental picture before remembering, âAnd Duri?â
âDuri wouldnât have wanted me even if I did want to cheat on you with her. She was aâŠshe was not into men so you wouldâve had a better chance than I did. She just liked me because I was one of the few people in the office that didnât judge her.â This new information caused you to feel so many different emotions some good some bad.
âY/N I never cheated on you. Iâm sorry that I made you doubt that.â
âOkay yeah thanks for clearing that up. Iâm uh Iâm sorry for not asking sooner.â
âIâm also sorry that I stopped initiating anything intimate. It wasnât you at all. I was just always so tired and stressed and then if I did want to do something you just seemed so angry and distant with me or Hana was acting up and I didnât want to push you into any thing. But most of all Iâm sorry that I stopped telling you how much I love you Y/N. Thereâs no excuse for that and I regret it more than anything.â
His words replayed in your mind over and over, âYoongi did you mean you loved me?â
He shook his head, âI love you Y/N. I always have and I always will. Thatâs why Iâve been trying to drag on this divorce. Iâve been selfish because I didnât want to let you goâŠbut MondayâŠMonday we can call the lawyers and Iâll sign the papers. I wonât make you suffer any more.â
âIâŠI love you too Yoongi.,â you stiffled unsure of when you even started crying.
Quickly he pulled you into a hug, âHey hey itâs okay. Donât cry. I hate seeing you cry.â
âWhat do we do Yoongi?â
âWellâŠwe can continue with the divorce if you want or we can try again. Go slow. Maybe see a couples counselor. I think having this talk really helped us so I think talking to a professional would be a good thing. But itâs up to you. I want to save thisâŠI want to save us but I wonât force you.â
âYeah I thinkâŠI think we should try to work on things.â, you nodded. He smiled and you smiled both breathing a sigh of relief.
Then Yoongi fidgeted with his fingers as he looked around the room that had suddenly become more awkward., âWell uh I guess I should get going. I need to save Taehyung from his baby sitting duties.â
âOooorrr maybe you could stick around a little longer. I think Taes having the time of his life.â, you chuckled before flipping your phone over show him the text of a photo of Tae on the couch and Hana cuddled up next to him as he gushed about how wonderful she is.
He smiled at the cute photo before agreeing to stay since he really didnât want to leave anyways.
Maybe it was the bottle of wine that you two had during the movie or the months and months without being touched or just being exhausted physically and emotionally that was causing your brain to go haywire but suddenly you could sense every little movement from Yoongi.
The way his chest moved up and down as he took slow breaths. The way he sat kind of slouched with his legs spread out. The way his fingers kept inching closer and closer to the bare skin of your thighs. It all sent a fury of emotions through you as you could feel your arousal building, almost making you feel silly for being so weak for him.
But you two had barely agreed to work on things less than a few hours ago so you tried your best to ignore the desires within you.
You knew that Yoongi was having similar feelings as you when his fingers continued to move slowly up the side of your thigh until his large hand was firmly situated on the top of your leg, his fingers began gently toying with the bottom of your shorts as if he was testing the waters to see if you were going to stop him. When you didnât, he got a little more brave slightly pulling on your bottoms but then he suddenly pulled back.
âY/NâŠIâŠWe can stop if youâre not into this. Iâm sorry. I shouldnât have done that...Itâs just been so long.â
âI know it has been. MaybeâŠMaybe I want this too.â
He scooted closer until you could feel his warm breath hitting your cheek.
âY/N, maybe isnât enough for me. I need a yes or a no.â, his voice deeper than usual.
You thought for a moment. You thought about the positives and negatives. He started to move away taking it as a no when you stopped him. Quickly you lifted yourself up and straddle his lap before kissing him, âYes I want you. I want you Yoongi. I want you so bad.â
That was all he needed to send his lips searching for yours. His hands grasped the end of your shirt and began pulling it up, you shimmied to help make it easier for him.
In one swift movement you were left completely bare in front of him thanks to having forgone a bra earlier in your search for optimal comfort.
He sat staring at you making you flush red.
âFuck Iâve missed these.â, he smiled squeezing your breasts. âYoongi donât make it weird.â, you chuckled yet doing absolutely nothing to stop him especially once his mouth connected to your left nipple and he began gently biting down, something he knew you loved.
The more you moaned the more it egged him on to bite and squeeze and suck and leave marks all over your naked breasts. You started to grind down on him using his growing erection to provide some friction to your wet core. The sensation making you both throw your heads back.
âWant to make you feel good.â, you mumbled against his neck leaving kisses as you went.
âYouâre already making me feel good Sprinkles.â
On your first date you got really excited to find out the cafe had sugar cookies covered in sprinkles. Yoongi thought it was the cutest thing ever and had in turn started calling you Sprinkles.
Your heart jumped at the use of your nickname that you hadnât heard him say in so very long.
It wasnât until you felt his hips buck up into you that you were brought back to reality, âNo I want to make you feel really good.â, you whispered already on your knees while your fingers quickly worked on his belt and zipper. As you finally freed him you were reminded about just how big he was.
You saw him smirk as you stared somewhat in shock, âWhat donât think that pretty mouth of yours can take me any more?â
You didnât say anything. You wanted to bite back but instead you dove in. Your tongue licking a strip on the underside. You went right into a rapid pace, sucking, licking, paying close attention to the head just like he liked.
You took pleasure in watching him come undone above you. His cheeks tinted red, his legs spread far apart giving you ample room, you gripped onto his thighs as his head rolled back on the couch. He ran his hands through his hair getting lost in the feeling and savoring the sensations of your mouth taking him fully.
Suddenly his hand came and fisted a chunk of your hair, âY/N, StopâŠyou gotta sto-â
You couldnât get your mouth off in time before he started convulsing and a warm salty liquid coated the back of your tongue.
While it definitely was a confidence booster to know you could have that kind of an effect on him it was still funny to you and you couldnât stop giggling, especially when you saw how embarrassed he looked.
âShut up. Itâs been a long time since Iâve had anything but my hand.â, he grumbled.
âNo no itâs okay Yoongles.â, you giggled until your giggles turned into a scream as he lifted you up and carried you to the bedroom.
Once you were laid down on the bed he wasted no time in tearing off your shorts and removing his shirt leaving you both completely bare.
âFuck look how wet you are.â, he sighed as he ran his fingers through your folds.
âMmmm yes Yoongi.â, you moaned finally feeling a little relief until he abruptly stopped and pulled away.
You whined at the loss of contact earning a low chuckle from him.
âPlease donât tease. I need you so bad.â, you said as your hips began shifting looking for pleasure.
Yoongi being the way that he was decided to only tease you further. This time with the head of his already hardened again cock as he would barely give you the tip just to pull away leaving you needy and empty.
âFine keep doing thatâŠMaybe Iâll go ahead and call Jimin. I bet he wouldnât tease me.â, you spat somewhat playfully somewhat loosing your mind.
Without warning Yoongi slammed into you fully sheathing himself. âOh fuck Yoongi.â, you cried blissfully at the burning stretch.
âYeah you like that. You think itâs nice to talk about other men while Iâm fucking you.â, he growled, âIâll make you forget he even exists. Fuck Y/N.â He was fucking into you with such a quick forceful pace that your whole body was being pushed up against the bed until you couldnât go any more.
âDonât stop. Iâm about to cum. Please Yoongi.â, you cried.
âYeah, then cum for me.â, he said, âlet me feel you squeezing my cock like you want it.â
That was all it took until you were pulsing around him squeezing with everything you had as your body reveled in the feeling. A feeling you had long forgotten about.
Once you had come down from your high he wasted no time before he was pounding into you again trying to chase his own release.
âWhoa whoa.â, you said and he instantly pulled out looking at you with a worried expression, âWhat? Are you hurt?â
âYou get to cum twice while I only got once? That doesnât seem fair.â, you smirked while he looked at you slightly annoyed.
âI mean I think I deserve another oneâŠor are you too out of the game to be able to make your girl cum more than once in a night.â, you playfully quipped.
Yoongi ran his tongue along the inside of his cheek in irritation, âYou know youâve become quite the mouthy one Sprinkles.â
He slowly stroked himself a few times knowing it was going to be difficult for him to hold off his already close orgasm.
âHow about we make this a little interesting?â, he said lining himself up with your entrance.
âIâm listening.â, you said half moaning at the sensation.
âLetâs play a gameâŠFirst one to make a noise looses.â, he said, âLoser has to cook dinner next Friday for date night.â
You head rolled back, âYouâre on.â
âAnd I expect fresh baked brownies with my meal when I win.â, he arrogantly said as he slammed into you again.
He was watching himself disappear inside of you and reappear covered in your juices as a way to try and keep his focus when you decided to play dirty.
You squeezed your walls around his length as tight as you could trying to get a moan or a hiss but he was good. Instead he looked up giving you a look that said two can play that game.
He kept eye contact as he brought two fingers to your swollen clit rubbing figure eights to add extra pleasure as his mouth latched onto your right nipple. You bit down onto his shoulder to stifle the sounds your mouth was begging to make.
The two of you lasted at this for several minutes before you had a realization.
Yoongi was going slow, taking his time, gently thrusting in and out of you, which you knew meant he was close and trying to hold out as long as he could.
And then you decided to make the move that you knew would surely make him come undone and spill a litany of filth from his mouth.
You hooked a leg around him and with all the strength you had you pushed home and flipped over so that he was on his back and you were on top, his dick remaining inside you the whole time. You nearly laughed out loud when you saw the surprised look on his face but you managed to stifle it.
You started bouncing up and down on his cock with a rapid pace. Your were so close to your own orgasm. Your thighs were burning but you could feel his hands eagerly grabbing onto your body trying to stop it. He was so close too.
Carefully you leant forward just enough that you could suck little marks into his skin while still riding his dick. The angle allowing your tits to lightly brush up against his skin with your movements. You gave him a couple extra squeezes for good measure and next thing you knew his hands were on you holding you in place as his own hips bucked up into you, âF-Fuck Y/N. Fuck Iâm coming... Iâm coming. Baby fuck. I tried. Iâm sorry.â
You could feel hot liquid already dripping out of you and making a mess on him as he helped you ride out your own high that quickly followed.
When your breathing had calmed he helped you off of him and quickly got you all cleaned up before laying down next to you on the bed.
âThat was uhâŠI think we needed that.â, he said giving your hand a kiss.
âYeah it felt good. I think that maybe we lost ourselves in being parents and forgot that we have needs too. LetâsâŠnot do that again this time.â He nodded, âSpeaking of which I should probably go relieve Taehyung. I told him Iâd only be a few hours at most so heâs probably not happy.â
âYeah probably. Hey make sure Hana eats something other than takeout this week pleaseâŠand she has a dance less with Jimin on Wednesday so maybe be nice when you drop her off.â, you said following him to the door.
âYes to the no takeout and weâll see but no promises to the Jimin thing.â, he grumbled.
He put on his coat and shoes and gave you a kiss and was just about to walk out the door when you stopped him.
He turned to look and found you smiling hard.
âWhat?â, he asked confused.
âFor dinner next FridayâŠI expect fresh baked sugar cookies with my meal.â, you giggled as his face fell remembering that he had in fact lost the game.
âFineâŠsugar cookies it isâŠooorrrr you know we could go best two out of three.â, he said already reaching out for you.
âAnd donât skimp on the sprinkles.â, you shouted quickly shutting the door before you could give into his little game.

Vi and her Counterpartâs Violence
Okay so as soon as I saw this scene in s2e3, I was immediately reminded of this scene in s1e6
Vi sees someone she loves, someone she perceives as innocent and in dire need of protection, being so comfortable with violence. She doesnât have a problem with violence, if anything she uses it as a tool, but she has a problem with certain other people doing the same. Why should they be so violent when she has it handled? When she is meant to be the violent one, shielding them from getting to that level?
Caitlyn and Jinx are never beating the mirror allegations
In both scenes, Vi calls out her counterpartâs name multiple times. But, of course, instead of calling Jinx by her chosen name, she calls her Powder. And instead of calling Caitlyn by her given name, she calls her Cait. âJinxâ represents Viâs greatest failure, the opposite of who Powder is meant to be, while âCaitlynâ seems represent privilege and power, the two major things enabling Caitlyn to act in such an opposite way to how sheâs âmeantâ to. âCaitlynâ is who everyone else knows. They know Caitlyn Kiramman. Vi knows Cait. Vi knows her Cupcake. (Still a little confused on why we havenât heard that at all this season?)
Violence is Viâs. Itâs hers because she refuses for it to be her counterpartâs. Of course, weâve said this a million times: Vi is a protector first and foremost. A protector fails when their protectee is exposed to the weight on the protectorâs shoulders. Vi was never meant to be innocent and she never seems to resent that, all she does is take it as a challenge that has no failing option.
In both seasons, Vi was pulled away from the situation and everything was interrupted. But, at least in s2, she got to talk to Caitlyn after. The problem is that there was such an obvious disconnect. It doesnât matter if there was a kid, Caitlyn would have gotten the shot. It doesnât matter if Caitlyn would have gotten the shot, there was a kid. (Although, I do think this whole kid thing is interesting after seeing how Vi feels about collateral damage when Jayce killed that Chembaronâs child. Maybe after seeing the council explosion, Caitlynâs grief and that same Chembaron plan a terrorist attack, sheâs changed her mind?)
Vi gets to view violence as a necessity. Vi gets to choose when violence is right or wrong, not who sheâs supposed to be protecting. Vi gets to find comfort in violence, not who sheâs supposed to be protecting.
Vi begging Caitlyn not to change isnât just about everyone else in her life changing, itâs about forcing her own position to change as well when she finds so much comfort in it.
Anyway, I just think the parallels between these scenes are pretty cool and also getting to see Vi on the receiving end of violence from who sheâs meant to be protecting is so interesting. I do wish the parallels were hammered home a little bit more because the scene in s1, you could really see it in Viâs face and hear it in her voice how fearful she was of seeing Powder like that throughout the whole scene, while the fight scene felt a little short and the argument after left me wanting a bit more! Even tho I did appreciate the intensity of Caitlyn saying Jinxâs blood is in Viâs veins and Vi saying Caitlyn is the one acting like her and all Caitlyn can respond with is violence, further proving Viâs point and hurting her even more. I appreciate it all, but I hate to say that it feels like itâs missing something! I think what I wanted to hear from Vi was more than âItâs a kid!â I wanted Vi to try to wake Caitlyn up, cry to her about her and Powderâs childhoodâs, throw Caitlynâs argument about âthe cycle of violenceâ back at her. But we didnât get that.

Thinking about a ghost who keeps his mask on because the face is the hardest part to keep human.
When he first came back he would spill out of his flesh at the slightest stimuli. A breeze had three arm-like protrusions erupting from his back. A dog bark resulted in his torso splitting vertically down the middle from his shoulder to groin. When he stepped on a stick and it cracked he lost his shape completely, sharp spikes ricocheting out of his body at random, elbows bending backwards before 5 hands grew out of his arm, head showing only teeth.
Heâd come a long way since then.
It was slow work, learning how to control it when his body didnât want to maintain its shape. Trial and error left bodies in his wakeâpeople terrified of this thing walking around that looked like a man only some of the time. And we all know how scared people react.
It took time but he did it. He mastered it. All of it.
Except for the face.
His face had a habit of dropping its skin at a moments notice. Someone coughed and you could see how his back molars rested against each other, his cheeks disappearing.
Or the shape would morph. Nothing too dramatic but his nose would shift an inch to the side while his tongue stretched like hot taffy spun between hooks.
So he started wearing a mask to hide it. He had a job to get back toâa new team to meet and he couldnât afford to waste any more time with this. Covering it up seemed the best option.
So he went about his life, starting with the 141. He fit like a glove and they never pressed about the mask. It was perfect.
Until the day one of them saw. An enemy had gotten too close, their knife made quick work of the fabric before ghost broke their neck. When he turned around it was gaz watching himâwatching the way his teeth shifted to points before disappearing completely, leaving gaping, bloody holes in his mouth, watching the way his lips would peel back in a Glasgow smile before restitching themselves.
Ghost had come to expect the screams, the way people would ward him off like he was some demon, the aggression that wasnât very far behind.
So when all gaz said was just a sec, lt, I have a spare mask in my pack just in case, after a quick double take, ghost was floored.
Where was the cursing and screaming and crying?
But gaz acted like it was just another day, pulling out the spare mask heâd stuck down in his pack ages ago just in case it was ever needed, handing it over to ghost once he shook it out.
And ghost waited for the other shoe to drop. 30 seconds, 5 minutes, 2 daysânothing. Gaz just didnât care. He didnât bring it up or make innuendos about it. It was business as usual.
And for the first time ghost felt like he might belong. That the 141 just may be the home he wasnât aware he was searching for.
Now to break it to the other two. He bet he could make soap scream if he played his cards right.

BREAKFAST
â spencer reid x bau!fem!reader
â summary: after a few weeks of intense work, spencer wanted to surprise her with breakfast in bed, but he discovered that sometimes coffee and bed don't make good pairs.
â c/w: i think none?
â w/c: 1.3k
â a/n: hello! another spencer one-shot! i hope you guys like it and let me know your thoughts! english is not my first language, so forgive me if there's any mistake!
The sun was just beginning to show timidly through the bedroom window when Spencer woke up, carefully removing the arm that had wrapped around him and placing it on his pillow. He turned over, his gaze resting on her sleeping face, observing the relaxed and finally peaceful features. For a moment, he stood there, almost hypnotized by that rare tranquility, something that, because of their work, was difficult and even more precious to see.
With a discreet smile, he decided to leave without waking her. He walked to the kitchen with light steps, where he began to prepare everything with precise, silent movements. She knew exactly what she was going to make: crispy toast, a touch of strawberry jam, and the strongest coffee, just the way she liked to start the day. From the fruit bowl, she chose a handful of grapes and an apple, her favorite fruit, thinking of cutting them up to make the perfect fruit salad.
While the coffee scented the kitchen, Spencer looked around, mentally assembling the tray. He wanted everything to have a touch of simplicity and intimacy, to show how much he paid attention to the little details - the way she appreciated pausing for another cup of coffee, the smile that appeared as she savored the first bite of toast. That morning, Spencer wanted every little gesture to be a reminder that she was always taken care of.
Spencer opened the cupboard, taking out the jar of jam and the slices of toast, feeling the pleasure of putting together every detail of the surprise. He knew it didn't have to be anything too elaborate, after all, she liked simple things that brought comfort and familiarity, but without losing the special touch.
He cut up some of the fresh fruit and, without resisting, took one of the grapes and tasted it. The sweet, fresh taste brought him a wave of tranquility; it was the kind of morning they rarely had. He placed everything on the tray with extreme care, adjusting each item almost as if he were preparing a work of art. As he concentrated on every detail, his thoughts wandered to anticipating the expressions he expected to see on her face when she woke up, that mixture of surprise and affection that warmed his heart every time.
The idea of surprising her with a morning like this, full of little details made with care and love, made Spencer smile, looking forward to the moment when he saw the smile appear on her lips.
He was just finishing arranging the tray when he remembered one detail. âAh, the orange cake!â he smiled, opening the fridge door and finding the last slice. It was the cake they had made together a few days earlier on a quiet evening, laughing at Spencer's disastrous attempts at measuring the flour. He knew she would be happy to see that small gesture, a piece of that night shared in laughter and complicity.
With the tray carefully balanced in his hands, he entered the room with light steps, his gaze fixed on the image of her still tangled in the sheets. The room was quiet, the soft morning light beautifully illuminating her face, which was sleeping soundly, with such a peaceful expression that Spencer wondered for a moment if he was really going to do that, almost without the courage to interrupt.
He approached slowly, resting the tray on the bedside table, and leaned over, allowing himself a moment of pure admiration. Gently, he brushed his fingers across her shoulder, whispering softly, as if each word were a gentle invitation for her to wake up, and kissing her cheek quickly.
She opened her eyes slowly, blinking to get used to the light. When she saw Spencer standing there, with a shy smile and a carefully prepared tray beside him, her expression turned to surprise and tenderness. A sleepy smile appeared on her lips, and she stood up a little, her eyes shining in a way that made Spencer's heart beat faster.
âGood morning,â murmured Spencer, his voice warm with restrained affection. He could barely disguise his joy at seeing her reaction, as she now looked at every item on the tray with a look that mixed surprise and gratitude.
âYou⊠did all this for me?â she asked, and Spencer nodded, the shy smile turning into a soft gleam in his eyes.
âI wanted to do something special,â he replied, as she picked up her coffee cup with an expression of pure happiness. âI know we haven't had a lot of free time these past few days, so I wanted our first free morning to be special, and I made you this coffee in bed.â It was a simple moment, but for Spencer, it was everything - he knew that in that smile and the sparkle in her eyes, there was a silent exchange of affection that made the morning even more perfect.
As they arranged themselves on the bed, trying to find a comfortable balance for the tray between them, Spencer leaned over to pick up the piece of cake, and she did the same, both laughing as they realized they had almost collided. In the midst of their relaxation, she moved abruptly, and Spencer saw the cup of coffee tilting too late.
The hot liquid ran down the tray and onto the sheet, and they froze for a second before bursting into laughter. Spencer tried to save one of the toasts, but the jam had already spread. She, laughing almost childishly, grabbed a napkin and tried to clean up the mess, but her clumsy efforts only made matters worse, which made them both laugh even harder.
âWhen you said you cooked breakfast in bed, I didn't imagine it would literally be in bed,â she said, with a mischievous grin, while Spencer looked in her direction, trying to keep a serious expression, but failing completely. Each laugh seemed to disarm him, leaving Spencer carefree and immersed in that lightness he rarely felt.
Unable to contain himself any longer, he let go of the toast and let himself fall beside his partner, laughing himself to tears. She lay down next to him, still laughing, the two of them completely ignoring the mess on the sheet, enjoying the moment as if nothing else mattered. Between giggles and complicit glances, Spencer felt that this unexpected chaos had been the perfect touch to a morning that had somehow become even more special.
Between giggles and small coffee stains on the sheet, they settled down again, now with what little was left of breakfast. Spencer held up a slice of cake with an amused expression, offering her a piece, which she accepted with a lazy smile, still savoring the joy of the moment.
They ate slowly, their movements slowed down by the tranquility of the moment. She reached out, running her fingers through Spencer's tousled hair, and he closed his eyes, allowing himself to relax under her gentle touch. It was rare to have a morning like this, with no rush or worry, just the two of them, together and present for each other.
âI could get used to this.â Spencer heard her murmur, her eyes shining as they met his. The smile on her face was warm, filled with gratitude that words couldn't fully express.
Spencer leaned in, running his hand over her face in a caressing gesture, his thumb gliding gently across her cheek. âMaybe we should do this more often.â he whispered, his voice low and laden with a tenderness he could rarely express.
They stayed there, exchanging light caresses and soft laughter, as if the world outside didn't exist. The cold coffee, the pieces of toast forgotten on the tray, and everything else was insignificant next to what they felt there together. For Spencer, that moment of tranquility and affection was exactly what they both needed - a silent reminder that, even in the little things, they could find deep and sincere happiness.

Hi :)
I saw your ask box was open.
Can I suggest the merc falling asleep on their crushes shoulder during movie night? And when they wake up, they are alone with their crush who strikes their hair or cheek or something like that?
âFalling asleep on their crushes shoulder!
Genre: fluff, GN reader
Characters: Sniper, Engineer, Solider
This asker specified in a separate ask that it would be okay if I only did these three, unfortunately I think for now Iâll stick to just these three because I actually ended up getting a bunch of asks and didnât want to overwhelm myself too quickly. Very grateful for all the submissions btw! Anyhow enjoy!
Sniper
He would have to be seriously sleep deprived to let this happen.
Sniper his hyper aware of his surroundings at all times, him âaccidentallyâ brushing against something or someone is rarely ever just that.
Heâd be hyper aware whenever sitting next to you, always ensuring there was enough space as to not accidentally touch. He didnât want to make you uncomfortable or seem unprofessional, he already felt bad enough for having feelings for you.
To avoid leaning on you he just hung his head forward, falling asleep in the most uncomfortable position you have ever seen. But long nights of tossing and turning in his van had finally caught up and he was out like a light.
(Maybe it happens on accident, or maybe by your intervention he ends up leaning his head against your side. Oh no, what a terrible fate!)
He looks so calm and peaceful, so even long after the movie ended you decide to just keep quiet and let him sleep.
Eventually however he begins to stir, and wake with a soft sigh.
Freezes the second he realizes heâs against your side and under your arm. Like total deer in headlights, goes rigid.
He looks up at you to start spouting apologies and get off you, but instead with your free hand you just tenderly move a strand of hair out of his face with a smile.
His heart is beating out of his chest in an instant, and he quickly looks away to hide his burning face. Will not say anything from that point forward, and you choose to do the same, keeping the quiet ambience intact.
He might turn tail and run off or he might just stay, it honestly depends on the nature of your relationship up until this point. How close he views the two of you already.
If he lets a good thing be and just stays, he wonât talk about it or acknowledge it ever again. And if any of the mercs bring it up (which letâs face it, they will) he will deny it to the ends of the earth.
Thinks about it constantly, like constantly. He wonât be able to face you with a straight face for the next few days.
Engineer
Engie definitely ended up next to you on purpose, his passes at romance are typically pretty low-key, just sitting next to you is enough!
During movie nights he almost always pretends itâs just the two of you, making jokes about the movie while being shushed by the other mercs.
Tonight though it was a calming feel good movie, he couldnât really think of anything to make you laugh so he ended up just sort of dozing off.
Him resting his head against your shoulder though is a happy accident, he didnât mean it, but neither of you are mad about it.
I imagine that Engie is a super deep sleeper, once heâs out heâs out. So realistically you know you could probably sneak out from under him without waking him, but youâre not about to do that.
The first thing he goes to do when he wakes up is apologize for drooling.
But before he gets the chance you tenderly take your thumb as graze it over his cheek, smiling softly.
He freezes at first, heart caught in his throat.
But he gets his footing quickly, and starts âsorry for drooling on you darlinââ he said trying to break the ice a little bit.
âItâs okay,â you say taking a deep breath turning your attention back to your book âI donât mind.â
He stays, getting nice and cozy beside you. It will likely become pretty standard practice between the two of you, heâll shoo away any of the other mercs who might make fun.
This is the catalyst for him confessing to you for sure.
Solider
Solider is attentive at all times, if he falls asleep on your shoulder it is 100% on purpose.
Restless during movie nights, constantly (and loudly) interrupting the movie to ask questions or point out impossibilities. Doesnât get suspension of disbelief.
Does enjoy cozying up to you though, the other mercs caught wind that he is calmer and quieter if sat next to you, so it became pretty ritual.
âThis movie doesnât make any sense! Iâm going to sleep!â He loudly proclaimed to the group, earning a few annoyed groans and grunts from the other mercs. Promptly resting his head on your shoulder, praying you donât shoo him away, or become uncomfortable.
Kind of dips in and out of sleep, kind of has trouble getting completely comfortable, and eventually wakes back up to find the two of you alone. Definitely sort of sheepish once itâs just the two of you, may pretend to be asleep.
Instead of insisting he get up you just sort of scratch gently at his scalp, comforting him as you guys enjoy a domestic moment together alone.
Might confess his feelings on the spot, might not really depends on his mood.
Doesnât get up for a long time, an action thatâs probably wholly your idea cause your arm is falling asleep.
Wonât be shy about it, but likely wonât bring it up again afterwards, definitely doesnât enjoy any of the jokes anyone might make.
Is not opposed in the slightest to doing that again, pretends to be chill about it tho.
Eek! My first ask, Iâm so grateful this was fun to write! My favoritism for Sniper really shows ^^â whoopsssss

Soft-Play Love- Shiu Kong
You meet someone while taking your daughter to the softplay centre.
No use of (Y/n), Shiu and reader are both in their late 30s and have daughters, (D/n) = daughters name, "mummy"
dividers from @saradika-graphics
It had taken a month of begging from your daughter to finally take her to the soft play centre she loved oh so much. It wasnât that you minded her being thereâit was just that you knew the routine all too well: the first twenty minutes of her clinging to you , the next hour of boredom as you waited, then the inevitable meltdown when it was time to leave. Not to mention the sickness a few days later once the germs caught up with her, keeping her a grumpy mess for what seemed like an eternity. And like any other reasonable parent, you'd rather not deal with any of those things. If you'd been a bit younger when you had your babe, perhaps this wouldn't be so draining- but you weren't and it was.
Still, you couldnât help but smile at her excited little face, knowing how much this meant to her- it was just a part of growing up, and so, begrudgingly, you spent your Saturday afternoon sat on a chipping, washed-out, squeaky chair; overstimulated by the merged sounds of high-pitched shrieks from feral children and smell of sickeningly sweet processed snacks. Truth be told, you hadn't seen your daughter for the last ten minutes - too engrossed in your book to acknowledge the passing time. The last few instances you had managed to catch sight of her she was accompanied by a young girl around the same age, who sported pigtails and a wide smile to show off the gleaming rows of wobbly teeth. It's not often she bothered at making friends so you were more than happy to let them be, but you figured it was time to warn her about leaving soon as the end of your session approached- knowing she would no doubt bring chaos in her wake.
"MUMMYYY!!" the all too familiar voice sounds from behind as she runs into view, her new found friend in hand.
"Me and Min-hee want ice cream!"
"Yes please!" the little girl added, her rosy cheeks squished in delight.
For a moment you considered saying no, but how could you? Not when two anticipating faces of faux angels looked up at you with such expectation.
"How about we ask Min-hee's parent if they are okay with it first?", you suggested, already reaching for your bag. "Then Iâll get you both some ice cream."
And in a blink the two girls were off, racing back into the chaos of the play area.
You figured that was the end of the conversation until they both reappeared, a tall and handsome man trailing after them with his gaze meeting yours. He seemed to be around your age, no older than forty which was rare to see and you perked up in interest. There were a few parents from your daughters year who were also in their late 30s but they were the least sociable of the cohort, either that or they had their biases about you being a single parent. It wasn't something you had ever foreseen. You and your then husband had been together for a long time beforehand and when your daughter had unexpectedly came you both saw it as a blessing. Though a few years after her arrival, fights began to frequently arise ; about his job, about household chores, about quality time, about trivial matters that never should've been a problem in the first place. You both tried to make it work but you had already drifted too far and- although not fully divorced- decided to separate. Now you both co-parent on good terms, though the unevenly split weeks still tend to be the subject of most disputes.
You stood up, snapped out of your daze, giving him a friendly smile, but for a moment, it felt like the words caught in your throat. It was one of those strange moments where the quiet between two strangers is just enough to make you second guess.
"Daddy! (D/n)'s mum wants to say something to you!"
"Ohâno, I just wanted to know if itâs alright for the girls to get ice cream," you blurted, suddenly feeling put on the spot, "I didnât mean to drag you over here."
He smiledâan easy, small but genuine smileâand you felt a wave of relief. "Itâs no problem. I donât mind at all. Do you have a preference?", he asked, his voice deep, almost soothing.
"A preference?"
"Of ice cream flavor"
"Ah, no, thank you," you said, shaking your head. "I really donât mind getting them myself." .
"Itâs my treat," the tension between you both easing as he spoke.
"Then can I at least help you carry them back?"
"Of course", and he stepped aside, gesturing for you to follow him
The conversation was concluded by the badly hidden giggles of your girls who took turns whispering in each others ear. If you had to guess it would be D/n cracking poorly made jokes. If Shiu had to guess, his daughter would be up to something.
The table where the girls sat was right next to the restaurant so you had no qualms about leaving them for a few minutes as you followed Shiu into the queue.
"Do you come here often?" He starts, turning his body halfway to you. Each ray that streamed through the windows turned everything it touched into a fierce gold which bounced off the side of his face and into his eyes- creating splotches of sweet honeycomb too captivating to look away. It was almost as if the heavens were testing your resolve with how they shone down on him and you could only pray the light blocked his vision enough so that he didn't notice your prolonged stare.
"We used to but not so much anymore. D/n has been bugging me for weeks and I couldn't hold off any longer"
"That sounds about right" he chuckles dryly
"What about you?"
"It's our third time, I've been meaning to take her more but it's hard to find the time when there's only one of you"
You nod in excitement understanding, "I get it, there's only one of me too- and i could think of a thousand other things that need doing right now but..."
The two of you continued to talk, the subject straying slightly further from kids and more into your personal lives which you unexpectedly appreciated. Children were something you both had in common yes, but you hadn't had a proper conversation with another adult in a long while and it was nice to interact with someone as the original you for once- not mummy. He had an unspoken charisma about him, one that drew you in and you felt more and more compelled to ask about the mundane aspects of his day to day life- anything to fill the puzzle in your head of the intriguing man. Eventually the ice creams were served and although you initially joined him to help carry the two sizable bowls of sugar, he quickly scooped them up and asked another question before you could have a word of it.
"So," he said, voice low and subtly teasing, "do you think weâll be able to handle two sugar-high kids at the same time?"
You raised an eyebrow, smirk tugging at the corner of your lips. "As long as they continue to entertain each other, but Iâm sure we'll regret it regardless"
The girls were already bouncing in their seats, their eyes wide with excitement like little comical bunnies and you couldnât help but chuckle. The two of you sat down next to each other engaging in conversation as the girls indulged in their own and suddenly the cheap plastic chair, bright fluorescent lights, and overbearing shouts of children became more comfortable than it had any right to be - blurring into the distance.
You seemed to bond with Shiu seamlessly, the two of you finding another who understood the hidden struggles of single parenting and you had wished it was as easy to talk to all of the parents you had to interact with; normally as a result of your daughters playdates where conversations consisted of watered down small talk.
Your discussion was cut short however as a loud beep echoed through the roomâa reminder that your session was almost up and you prepared yourself for the oncoming tantrum.
"Ah, Iâm afraid we need to get going soon," you said, carefully. "Our session's almost over."
The girls' faces fell. "Noo! Thats's not fair!" D/n whined, slumping in her seat.
You looked over at Shiu, feeling the irony of your disappointment as you not too long counted down the minutes until you could leave.
"Well, weâll have to do it again sometime," he said, his voice warm.
"Definitely," you agreed, a tad too fast for your liking. "Maybe we could arrange a playdate for the girls? They seem to have hit it off."
Shiuâs smile softened. "That'd be great"
The girls erupt in squeals once again,
"Can we have a sleepover!?" (D/n) begged. "Please, please, can Min-hee come over?"
You and Shiu exchanged knowing, apologetic glances, and you reached for your phone, handing it to him.
"Here, I'll text you and we can figure out what works best"
He took the phone, his fingers brushing yours for just a second. "Sure thing." He quickly typed before handing it back to you. "Looking forward to it."
"Me too," you said, feeling a flutter of anticipation in your chest as you saved his number.
For some reason the simple exchange felt strangely significant, like the start of something new.
Please feel free to leave any ideas/ recommendations x

Author Note; i wrote her being sick, since that was easier for me to write đ«¶
~~~
It wasn't often Regina George got sick. In fact, there was hardly ever a time where she was. Of course she's faked being sick a number of times, just like every other kid. But today she was not feeling great. Like, at all. Every time she took a step Regina felt like she would throw up. Or pass out. Or both.
But did she take the day off? No. Because there were things she genuinely wanted to do at school and after today. She wanted to see her girlfriends and partner. Plus, Regina was looking forward to their date tonight. She booked them reservations at a nice ass restaurant and it would suck to lose their spot. Considering the next wait was nearly two months. She wasn't about to wait forever again. So, Regina tried her hardest to look okay. She may have over done it a bit on the makeup, but Regina hardly cared right now.
Despite feeling sick, Regina still took the time to pick up all of you. You, Gretchen and Karen. None of you noticed the signs at first. Gretchen thought she maybe saw a grimace, or was it a scowl? Sometimes it was hard to tell with the blonde. She did try keeping an eye on her, though it didn't take long before Gretchen was distracted by Karen's lips.
Being at school was probably the worst part of it. She skipped a lot of her classes. Regina ended up spending most of her day in the bathroom, just in case she threw up. Because there was no way she would be listening to a teacher right now. No matter who told her to. She'd come out for lunch, hanging out with you and the girls. Trying to seem okay enough that no one would ask her any questions.
Regina managed to make it all the way until the end of the day. Where everything went wrong. Regina was walking next to you, on her other side was Gretchen and Karen. The four of you walking together. You held Regina's hand, rambling about whatever your latest interest was. And Regina tried to pay attention. She really, really did. But... everything went black.
She could vaguely hear the sounds of voices, though it was like she was separated by water. It was muffled, groggily. All around impossible to understand. When she finally came to, Regina was in the nurse's office at the school. Bucket at her couch side. You were next to her while Gretchen and Karen watched nervously. Hands and arms linked together. She groaned as she tried to sit up, but you put a hand to her chest. Keeping her down.
"No you don't," You murmured. Regina's eyes locked to yours and you could see the pain and nausea behind her eyes.
"What..?" Regina had started to ask what happened, but you answered before she could speak. Wanting her to save her strength. You gently brushed Regina's hair out of her face, hand cupping her cheek before you spoke.
"You passed out. Nurse said you looked feverish," You explained, Regina scoffed and rolled her eyes. Slowly letting herself sink into the couch a bit. Before her eyes widened.
"The date-" Regina said, once gain thinking about the reservations. You just smiled softly and shook your head. Looking to Gretchen.
"Absolutely not, those reservations aren't as important as your health." Gretchen put her foot down; which was rare for her to do. Especially to Regina. Though Gretchen's worry for her out weighed any fears.
"There were reservations?" Karen blinked, looking at Gretchen. She forgot all about it. Gretchen just sighed.
"Not for tonight." Her tone held a sense of firmness to it that sounded weird coming from Gretchen. Regina challenged her, knowing it usually didn't take much to sway the girl.
"Excuse me? We're going, I paid a shit tone for those spots. Besides, I'm literally fine. You're overreacting." Regina grumbled. Trying to keep hold of her image. She had to be fine.
You frowned at her, deciding to take over when you saw Gretchen tense up," we'll get a refund, baby. Go another time. But like Gretchen said, those reservations aren't as important as your health."
Regina did not look happy in the slightest. But she finally stopped fighting on it, mostly because she threw up in the trash can. And she was smart enough to know there would be no convincing after that.
What's this? A New Fic? I had a really fun idea and wanted to explore it.
Summary:
Danny wakes up in a strange city. He can't access his ghost form, or certain memories. He can't remember his last name, his family or friend's names, or where he's from. Through an unfortunate string of events Danny ends up in Wayne manor. Only Danny doesn't want to be there. Can he remember what's been lost, and more importantly, with the Waynes keeping a close eye on him can he find his way home?
This looks like a straightforward premise but I promise there's a fun twist in there! Full chapter below the cut:
Danny woke in a dark, grungy alley. It was gross in the way home's weren't but he wasn't sure where he would be then. Last thing he remembered was...
He pursed his lips. He'd been in a fight with...someone? He couldn't seem to remember anything about it past that. Not who was fighting him or why.
Okay, so he'd been in a fight and now he was here. Wherever here was. Danny took stock of his surroundings, finding a few filled dumpsters and rusted metal doors to whatever buildings he was sandwiched between. He was in a dead end as well. Cautiously he got to his feet. No pain or pulling when he moved so he wasn't injured at least. His clothes were his normal t-shirt and jeans, just looking as if he'd been on the streets for a while. They were crusted with grime and there were some holes that looked more from wear and tear rather than any ecto blasts.
Slowly Danny made his way to the entrance of the alleyway. When he looked out he saw run-down buildings, cars missing tires, and people with guarded expressions pointedly not interacting with each other.
Oookay, that was...probably not a good sign actually. He glanced around and saw a street name, but he didn't recognize it. Not that he thought he would at this point. It was clear he wasn't back home.
So this was obviously not an ideal situation but that was fine. Danny could just go ghost and find his way home, easy peasy. Only when he tried going ghost nothing happened. He tried again. Nothing. Attempting to keep from panic he tried to go invisible. This time his power worked. Okay, invisibility was good. He stepped out into the street and began walking anywhere but the dingy area he had found himself in.
At first it was just a matter of which direction, then how far to go. After about ten minutes the scenery started looking marginally better. Danny took that as a reason to push onward and maybe find a library or something, anything to tell him where he was.
There was a sudden scream, followed by a few people running past him, then all hell broke loose.
Danny had heard about crowds sweeping people away but he had never experienced it before and he was not eager to again. People pushed and pulled, knocking him this way and that. In his confusion he had dropped his invisibility. Wondering what all the panic was from, Danny tried to force his way to an alley that was to his left. As he did he heard deranged laughter coming from behind. It echoed off the buildings and assaulted his ears. Finally Danny shoved past the last string of people to duck into the alleyway. In front of him, a good hundred or so people became engulfed in some kind of gas.
The ones in the cloud joined in the laughter. It was a crowd of horrifying hysterics before people one by one started collapsing to the ground. Danny backed up further as the gas seeped towards him. He didn't know what it was but he DID know he didn't want it to get in his lungs.
A shadow passed over him. He looked up to see someone in a bright yellow suit rushing into the scene, followed by someone in a black and blue suit. Were these guys responsible for what happened? He got his answer as the real culprit finally made its way in front of his alley. A man dressed like a clown was swiftly kicked in the face, losing his grip on the hose spewing gas out. Danny watched, enthralled, as more suited people came in. They split up between helping the people on the ground and taking out the clown and his lackeys, who had clown masks on.Â
So they were heroes. Just like him! Only...really they were quite a lot better than him. There was less property damage at least. In no time it seemed the clown was being cuffed by the police and ambulances were there to take the victims away.
The cops flooding the scene gave Danny an idea. He ran up to the nearest officer and caught his attention.Â
The officer, his tag read Jeffs, turned with a frown. "What is it kid? Someone you know in one of the ambulances?"
"No, I just woke up in the alley," Danny ignored how Officer Jeffs's expression switched to one of disinterest. "I need help getting back to my family. I don't know where I am."
"Alright, what's your name?"
"Danny-...Danny....?" Why couldn't he remember his last name?
"Danny, I need a last name."
"I can't remember it."
A deep sigh followed his words. "Okay Danny with no last name, you got an address?"
Danny perked up. "I'm from-!" From...some....some town with park in the name? He struggled to recall the first part of the name but nothing was coming to him. "I can't...."
"Remember." Jeffs finished with exasperation. "Look kid, if you're just trying to waste police time-"
"I'm not! I really am lost!"
The cop gave him a bland look. "Let's get you to the station then. We'll try fingerprints and go from there." Danny climbed into the back of the police car somewhat reluctantly. It smelled like death, he would know, and there were stains he didn't want to know on the seats. Something dark brown flecked the bars separating him from the front.
Yeah he really didn't want to think about that.
It was a short ride to the station. After getting his fingerprints they had him sit in a waiting area while they ran them. There was only two others in there with him, a lady in her mid thirties holding tightly to a young baby, who was crying its eyes out, wailing so loud Danny had to cover his ears to bear it. She was trying with no luck to shush it. He was very happy when the door opened and an officer called the lady away.
Now in silence Danny took the time to think about what was happening. He didn't know why he couldn't remember his last name, or the name of his town, or why he had trouble remembering what his friends and family looked like. Those were things he knew he should remember. Maybe he hit his head? But there wasn't any pain or dizziness. It was almost as if someone had reached into his brain and plucked everything important out so he couldn't get back easily.
"Alright kid, let's go."
Danny perked up immediately, "You found them?"
"No," Officer Jeffs said. "You aren't in the database. We're going to set you up in the foster system for now."
"But I have a family!"
The officer pinched his nose. "Look kid, unless you remember something, this is what we can do for now. The foster system ain't that bad anyway."
Danny wanted to argue further but he knew that they wouldn't change their minds. It was this fact that had him climbing out of the back of a police car and towards a big building where foster kids apparently waited for someone to take them. He was checked in without being paid attention to and swiftly brought to a room with four bunks in it. Three had boys already in them, the fourth had personal belongings. "You'll take the floor." The lady from the front office told him before shutting the door and leaving him at the mercy of the now vaguely interested boys.
"You look fresh. Lemme guess, parents just died?" A brown haired boy on the top left bunk jabbed. Danny didn't dignify that with a response.Â
The one on the bunk below that, a boy with dirty blond hair and a scar on his face gave him a shifty smile. "Don' mind him. Wha's your name kid?"
After a quiet pause, "...Danny."
"Well Danny! I'm Jacob, that," He jabbed his thumb up towards the brown haired boy, "is Garret, Tommy's there," this boy had black hair and a pinched face. "an Darius is takin a shower. Pick any spot on th'floor, don' matter much to us where."
Danny studied the boys for a moment before deciding to sit himself at the foot of Tommy and Darius's beds. A part of him wondered why he was on the floor instead of getting his own bunk somewhere. As soon as he settled down the same lady came back and dumped a thin blanket and worn pillow into his lap. Without a single word she left again. "Is she always that friendly?" Danny snarked.Â
A sharp laugh drew his attention to Tommy. "Oh yeah, she's a fuckin delight."
The other two boys folded over with laughter. It seemed Danny wasn't quite in on the joke but he had a very bad feeling he was about to be.
As the laughter died down, another boy came in. This boy had darker skin but bright blonde hair, clearly bleached, and was definitely older than the other boys in the room. He glanced down at Danny with disinterest that shifted to concern. "You don't look like a street kid. You get orphaned or something?"
Danny pursed his lips. "Or something." He wasn't sure how much he should reveal to these boys. For all he knew they were going to take the information and use it against him.
At his reluctance Darius frowned deeper. "Kid, it's good instincts to not trust people but us here in this room are family. We don't backstab each other. If you're in the room, you're in the family."
"I just got here." Danny pointed out blandly.
"Yeah," Darius agreed. "and you'll probably move to a family fast, looking less like street rat, but that don't mean we won't look out for you while you're here."
"My bets are he got kicked out for being gay." Garret piped up. Darius turned to him with a dark scowl. "Not- not that it matters!" Came a quick correction.
Darius looked back at Danny with sympathy. "Don't mind him. He's got a big mouth but he don't mean nothing by speculating. It's how he shows he's worried. How about you take my bunk? It'll be better than the floor."
As nice as the offer was, Danny wasn't about to force the older boy to sleep on the floor when he had already claimed a bed. He shook his head as he placed the bedding down and curled up with it. There was a slight pressure on his knee. When he looked up he saw Darius patting it. "I know the first night is rough kid, we've all been there. You take the top of the bed and I'll take the bottom." His tone made it clear there wasn't room for negotiating.Â
Slowly Danny moved his blanket and pillow up to the top of the bunk as Darius moved his stuff to the bottom and curled up. He was right, the bed was better. Even though he had woken up only hours before Danny found no trouble in passing out.Â
When he woke the next morning it was to a warm body crushing him to the wall and at least two people snoring loudly. Darius had somehow managed to take over the bed. Sprawled in as much of a starfish as he could manage, the older boy's back was what had Danny pinned. He would have been upset but the pressure was oddly soothing after the strange disjointed dreams he'd been having. Danny buried his face in between Darius's shoulder blades. He hoped all the boys here were this kind to him, even if Garret had a bad habit of saying upsetting things. At least until he could make it home.
He remembered what Darius had said the night before about being fostered out quickly. Would the people here even want to foster? With five boys put in a four bed room, it seemed like there might have been a crowding issue.
Danny let out a small sigh before closing his eyes again. He could think more about this later, when he got a little more sleep in.
At least that's what he thought. Loud pounding on the door snapped him out of his drowse and quickly roused the other boys. Darius groaned before sliding feet first from the bed. Once standing he gestured for Danny to do the same.
Garret and Jacob were quick to their feet as well but Tommy had to be dragged from the bed by force. Danny found that very relatable.Â
When everyone was ready, Darius, keeping Danny close, opened the door. There was a swarm of other boys traversing the hall. Each door was closed as the last resident left it. Danny remembered Darius saying not trusting people was smart here and he was suddenly glad he didn't have things to steal. Darius guided Danny to a large room with tables lining the walls. It seemed to be placed so that none of the boys had their backs facing each other.Â
When everyone was seated, Danny sandwiched between his roommates, a man came in with a cart followed by another man and woman who all started serving food to everyone. A bowl of half cold oatmeal was slid in front of Danny. The spoon he was given was plastic. Darius nudged the boy to his other side and after a few moments something white was slid into his hand. He waited until none of the adults were facing them to pour it into Danny's bowl.
Danny jolted slightly. Was he just given drugs or something?Â
"It's sugar." Darius whispered to him. "Trust me, you need it for this mush."
"Why are you sneaking it?" Danny whispered back.
"Because food that's not from the program isn't allowed. We have to sneak in anything good."
He nodded his understanding before digging in. The sugar only barely made the food tolerable. It was overcooked and mushy, blander than anything Danny ate before.Â
Breakfast was thankfully over quickly, but not so thankfully it seemed like it was time for the kids to do whatever it was they did every day. Darius led him back to their room. "So I've got to go into work. Tommy and Garret go to school until three. You're going to have to stick it out in here until then, keep yourself on the down low."Â
"What about Jacob?"Â
"He does whatever he wants. Not like anyone here notices. You're probably going to get enrolled in school soon since you're new and you might get fostered quick. They'll want you to sound better to potential families."
Danny frowned. "And why do you go into work?"
Darius smiled but it didn't meet his eyes. "Not everyone gets enrolled into school. Program can only afford so many."
"Isn't it illegal for kids not to go to school?"
"This is Gotham kid, no one cares."
Danny frowned even deeper. It matched what he'd experienced so far but if no one cared then who would help him find his way home?
Seeing as how you're doing headcanons again i'd like to request hcs of Gavin,Milo,Sam,Vincent,and Guy( btw here's a thought for ya Guy as Hermes dangerous has stuck in my head for the past couple hours send help) also your previous hc were also great!(you could say they were ruthless ha ha ha im sorry that was bad lol)
~ Deviant anon ïŒââÏâ(ÂŽÏïœ*â)
idk if you can tell but I really like Guy
also I wrote headcanons for some character recently so characters like Gavin, Sam, and Milo have them a lil short than Vincent and Guy since it takes a while to think about possible in-character hcs for them. Sorry :(
Lots of Headcanons #3
Gavin
Believe it or not, Gavinâs social media accounts are usually blank. Save for Instagram. He just has them to comment under the groupâs posts.
Despite never reading a book, Freelancer has told him heâd do best in the writing industry.
He does not know how to hold a baby. If you give him a baby for any reason heâd hold it with both of his hands under its shoulders.
The worst heâs been scared was when he played a horror VR game, but he didnât scream or anything he really just jolted and went âshitâ and moved on. Freelancer was not amused.
He likes being the big spoon when he and FL cuddle because he gets to breathe in their scent, hold them, and remind himself that this is real, and not just a dream heâll wake up from.
Milo
You canât beat him in cup pong. Digitally or physically. You just canât.
The only reason David is considered a better cook than Milo is because Milo uses a lot of seasoning and the pack is full of babies who canât handle oregano or sazĂłn.
Whenever the pack goes somewhere tropical he has to wear a shirt or Sweetheart will constantly attempt to latch onto his torso.
Milo and cats have always gone together like peanut butter and jelly. He had a cat toy when he was a toddler, his first cell phone had a stray cat as his wallpaper, heâd feed the stray cats around his home, etc. So when he learned that he and the people around him could turn into âdogsâ (wolves but still) he was DEVASTATED. Got over it after a day tho.
He likes juice boxes.
Avid Apple Juice âtastes like pissâ hater, although he also says mint ice cream tastes like toothpaste so take that as you will.
Sam
Sam fucking hates cowboys.
Sam had braces from the ages of 19-21 and the only upside he had to being a vampire when he first turned was that he didnât need his retainer anymore.
Sam always reads manga wrong and no matter how many times anyone explains it heâll read it from left to right and never understands whatâs going on.
The closest Sam has gotten to riding a horse is when he flopped on top of Darlinâs back while they were shifted and they walked around his house like thatâŠheâs never been on a horse.
Sam has a lot of existential crisises, compared to like Vincent or Porter.
If something's flying and he can't figure out if it's a plane, helicopter, animal, or any identifiable flying object, he just believes it's an Alien UFO and moves on.
Darlin' gave him a wheat head for Christmas once. He was not amused.
He canonically has multiple cars he likes showing off to Lovely, but he also nearly never uses them and itâs Lovely who showboats them and takes them on joyrides.
He didnât believe William at first when he was first told heâs a vampire now and was the only one who survived The Surge incident, until they both saw his funeral take place and see his grave, which took place a long time after the accident because his parents refused to believe he was dead.
He had 3 tomodachis at once and they all constantly died because he forgot feeding them was a thing.
He commonly "regrets" asking William to make him unable to lie to Lovely because they like to ask him embarrassing questions on purpose and he canât help but answer them, even though he could just stay quiet.
His favorite memory as a kid was roller skating with his parents on his 7th birthday. Even though he fell on his face, sprained his ankle, and had a loose tooth fall out. Still his favorite day.
omg hi if ur inbox is open can u give us a short blurb/your thoughts on or some kind of headcanon list for yan tim drake (romantic) bc ur interpretation of him is so yumđ€€ i like how you rlly focus on more darker aspects of his character which i dont see a lot of ppl doing unfortunately bc the way heâs a complete FREAK LMFAOđ«Łđ«Ł
đđđđ đđđđđđđ đđđ đđđđđ đđđđđđđđâŠ
!!! GN reader, mentally ill Tim, psychotic Tim, just Tim, heâs a problem, manic/depressive episodes, violent tendencies, suicidal tendencies, stalking, kidnapping, obsessive behaviors, gross ways to show affection, slight insinuation of pervy Tim, blood, mutilation, harm to reader mentioned, self-harm, severed body parts, drugging, gaslighting.
YAAAAYYYYYYYYY, TIM DRAKE TIME!!!! This is so long overdue. Iâve been meaning to write for him, but⊠it just hasnât happened yet. I hope the ideas will start flowing after I get some of this off my chest. Iâve been harboring so many miscellaneous Tim thoughts for a while.
(Yâall. The CW on this just kept getting longer and longer. My bad.)
First thingâs first, Tim is a fucking mess. Thereâs no way to know for sure which version of him youâre gonna get each day. Maybe heâs going through a manic episode, coming up with batshit crazy schemes and going on about things that donât make sense. Maybe heâll then swing into a depressive fit, where he canât even bring himself to get up from the floor. Maybe he wakes up completely fine after an hour long nap, regretting whatever initial brash decisions he made. Maybe he quickly turns violent at the sound of knocking at his door. Maybe he wants to claw his own arteries out after trying to maintain a normal social interaction.
The possibilities are endless! Which makes him extremely dangerous.
If youâve caught the eye of Tim Drake⊠yikes. Good luck. Thereâs a chance you donât even know who he is before he inevitably kidnaps you (completely on a whim, no less). Maybe youâre a total stranger he saw on the street once, captivating him and causing him to spiral into a twisted obsession. While Iâll defend Tim against the fandom allegations until my lungs give out, Iâll admit: theyâre on to something when it comes to stalker Tim. Bro definitely has pictures of you covering every square inch of his walls. And, yes, itâs to the point where they overlap each other.
Kidnapping can take anywhere between 3 days and 3 years. During that time, he may try to weasel his way into your life in an attempt to win you over... though we all know how well that would go. As Iâve mentioned before, he may be attractive, but heâs such an off-putting person. Just being around him is enough to give you the creeps. And it doesnât help heâs completely unaware of how weird some behaviors are. Tim... honey⊠you canât shamelessly stare at people with a startling grin like that. I know youâre thinking about how much you want to lick your darling-to-beâs neck, but itâs weird.
Whether he attempts to interact with you or not, one thingâs for sure: heâs stealing your shit. Clothes, toothbrushes, half-eaten food, straws, whatever he can get his hands on. Donât ask what he does with it. You donât wanna know. Tim is a neeeaaaasty freak, to the point where even he thinks to himself, âwhat the fuck is wrong with meâ after he calms down from a fit.
Oh, speaking of guilt, Tim is filled with that shit. He may swing from various stages of instability, but there are moments where heâs perfectly fine. And those are the moments where he has to grapple with the consequences of his own actions. Those can range from slightly scaring someone to causing irreversible damage. There have been many times where he snapped out of some episode with blood dribbling down hands and chunks of skin under his fingernails. Who did he hurt? Could be someone else, could be himself, could be you. Who knows!!
Letâs actually get into his suicidal tendencies a bit. His arms and legs are covered in scratches and cuts. Now, this could be explained by his vigilante life, but it gets harder to justify when you get to the bite marks at angles that only make sense if they were self-inflicted. Oh, and also the carvings of your name. He does that a lot. Itâs like youâre with him everywhere he goes!! And kind of on the same note, he wants you to have him with you as well!! This could come in the form of strips of skin, vials of blood, toes, an eye, an ear, a spleen⊠just whatever heâs willing to cut off or out of himself in the moment.
His suicidal tendencies are also connected to those moments of guilt I mentioned before. After calming down and realizing what heâs done, he may harm himself as some sort of penance; especially if heâs done something to you. Depending on how far he spirals from his guilt, he may actually enact âan eye for an eyeâ (perhaps in the most literal sense) to help make up for what heâs done. Who knows, maybe heâll replace missing pieces of you with his own. Will it work? No idea. Maybe a skin graph or two, but letâs hope you donât have to find things out in the more extreme cases.
I think itâs important to keep in mind that Tim Drake is just generally fucked-up. âNormalâ Tim doesnât mean âcompletely well-adjustedâ Tim, it just means heâs not acting on some manic or brash decision. Normal Tim would be fine with chaining or drugging you if heâs justified it to himself. As long as heâs not causing active physical harm to you, he probably wonât see anything wrong with whatever heâs doing in the long run. Itâs for your own good, okay? Donât worry, heâs gone through the possibilities and failsafes. Nothing bad will happen to you!
Unfortunately, manic Tim does not go through the possibilities and failsafes. Well, he kind of does, but the logic is far from realistic and runs in total circles. Whereas drugging you has a rational (fucked up, but still rational) reason behind it â to keep you immobile â filling your ear canal with cement takes some mental gymnastics. Manic Tim doesnât want you to listen to anyone else. Solution? You canât hear through concrete, right? At that point, youâre at the mercy of his mood swing RNG. Letâs hope he calms down enough to take a step back and really think about this. Hmm⊠filling someoneâs ears with cement⊠probably not healthy. Wow. Silly Tim! He let himself get carried away, didnât he? Whoops! There are more logical ways to keep you from listening to anyone else.
Thatâs where manipulation comes in. I mean, come on. Yâall know who his mentor is, right? Stable Tim is wicked good at manipulation. Huh? Heâs acting weird? Well, he didnât want to say anything, but he was actually thinking the same thing about you. Yeah, youâve been kind of off lately⊠is there something wrong? You sure? You know heâs there for you, right? Okay, just making sure. A gaslighting king when heâs in the right headspace for it. Too bad his psychotic aura gives him away; heâd probably be really good at keeping up appearances if he just got medicated or something.
So⊠yeah. Just some Tim thoughts. What a charmer, amiright? I donât think this oneâs salvageable. No amount of therapy could ever fix whatever Timâs got going on. Just throw the whole damn guy away. Start over. Your only hope of escaping him is the chance of someone on the outside realizing whatâs up. Hereâs to hoping Tim gets institutionalized before he does something really bad!!
From another planet #1
POV : Alan
You decide to choose the right guy because his sweaty body attracts you very much. You stared at his perfect body for a while then you gathered all your remaining strength and jumped towards his ear.
"Ouch!!" He shouted with pain as soon as he felt something move in his ear. He tried to pull the foreign object out but it seemed unsuccessful. "Shit..."Â
"What's happening, bro?" You hear someone talking with your vessel
"Something gets into my ear." As he was talking you succeeded, he tried to grab and pull you out, but you were faster than him, so you slipped out of his hand and rushed straight into his brain. "Aghhhhhhhg!!!!"
"Hey, bro!!" His friends were shocked and rushed to check on him. "Are you ok?"
"Gahhhhh!!! My head!!" He pushed his friend away and grabbed his head as he ran out of the bathroom. "Stop!! Aghhhhhh!!" He moved around before falling to the ground and wriggling around the room.
You are still trying to control his body and mind, but because your body is still weak from the injury and you seem to have chosen a relatively strong vessel, it is difficult to take over this vessel....But maybe you can slowly change his mind first, it might make things easier. So you start entering him the data that you want him to know about you....
"My head....ugh!!...about to explode.!!" He got up and tried to walk to the bed because he thought that sleeping might help him. "Aghhhhhhhhh---"
Everything calmed down. He fell onto the bed and closed his eyes, exploring the strange thoughts that were swirling around in his head right now.....
Vessel.....Control this vessel....
Planet....Parasite.....Seed....
This world is mine......
"I need to sleep right now....."
_________
You don't know how much time has passed since you explored his memory while your vessel was sleeping. So you want to learn about his life more before you take over his life soon....And you already know everything that is important to you now.
His name is Alan. He works as a personal trainer at a Superhuman gym, but recently he has taken a break for vacation at the beach with two of his friends for about 3 days. You thinking about giving your seed to his two friends to turn them into human parasites So you try to control his body.
"Ugh!!..." As soon as you try to control his body, it makes his body jerk. So you stop before his body gets damaged. This is because his body is still resisting the parasite and your body is not strong enough to use power to control him completely, so your plan to give your seed to his friend is ruined because it will probably take several more days for Alan's body to adjust to the parasite.
So you slowly let him adjust by persuading him to do and think the way you want him to.
Wake up and go to the balcony
He opened his eyes but looked confused about what was happening. "Emmm...what going on?" So he walked to the bathroom and scooped up some water to wash his face.
It seems like he still can't do everything you want, but that's okay because he's yours. For now, you should let him spend his vacation with his friends until his body is ready to spread your seed.
Knock knock
"Who?" Alan walked out of the bathroom to the front door and opened the door
"It's me bro" Alan's friend rushed into the room and hugged him. "Are you feeling better?"
"Yeah I'm ok...so what going on?" Alan led his friends to sit at the end of the bed. "Could you please tell me about it?
"Yeah sure.....emmmm.." They put together their words for a while and then they talked about what had happened. "After you pushed us, we heard you screaming and ran over to check. We saw you lying unconscious on the bed, your body covered by sweat. And then..."
"Then?" Alan looked very curious about the answer.
"You slept for about 1 day....But it's good to see you looking better." They both smiled and patted Alan's shoulder in consolation.
"1 day!! Omg!!" After he heard this, he was so shocked that he fell asleep for a whole day. "What about our trip?"
"Yeah, we're coming to invite you to go out with us.' They both smile at Alan again
"Haha, sure!!"
After that, they went out to have a pool party for the last day before everyone ended their vacation.
During that time, you learned how to live and speak from Alan until you can use and control his body...
______
After vacation, Alan returned to work at the gym, while you still couldn't control his body and only watched Alan continue to live his life. In the meantime, you still have a little bit of control over his mind but today had something different.
"Emmmmmmm....I feel so sleepy...?? Huh?!" You look at your body and try to move your arms and legs. "Fuck!!...Finally got this body now!!"
You rush to the bathroom and stand in front of the mirror to check your body again. "Woah!! This body is perfect...Today my seed is ready to give to humans now. Haha" You continue to explore his body more and more. You flex his muscles and find something that will make giving your seed easier....Then you go to Superhuman gym to see his customer who is ready to let you train him in exercise.
______
You arrived a little earlier than the scheduled time because you were excited that today you would train in a more special exercise than ever before, which guaranteed that he would be stronger.
"Hey Alan!, You came faster than I thought." Your customer walks to you and greets you in a friendly. "So have you been waiting long?"
"Haha, I'm just arrived." You choose to lie to him so that he won't doubt you. "So today I have special courses for you"
"Special courses?"
"Yeah, these courses will make your body strong and you will love it."
"Okay I will try with your courses"
At first, you train him to do the exercises as usual as Alan always taught him before you start teaching him more difficult exercises that make him tired and complain. "Alan...I can't do it, it's too difficult." He was shortness of breath as he spoke.
"Oh ok, Let's take a break" You smiled at him before pulling him into the bathroom and locking the door.
"Hey!! What are you doing!?" He shouted in displeasure when you suddenly brought him into the bathroom.
"Clam down Bro hehe" You ignored his shouts, and you took off your shirt before using your power to make your body more sweat "Ahhhh you see this?"
"What!?!" He was shocked by what you did, but it seemed like he had fallen into your trap because he was staring at your body. "Emmmmm Alan you look so sexy....No no!"
"Haha don't resist it" You walk closer to him. "I know you want to taste my body now"
"Oh... I want it" He leaned down and licked your chest. "Emmmm so good I want more..."
"Yeah, You will get it again... if you become a part of my parasite world." You said as you held his face close to your face.
"Yessss I will join you..." He knows what to do. He kisses your lips and waits for your seed. You donât hesitate to release your seed into his mouth and he swallows it immediately. "Emmmm...emmmmm yessss so good...ugh!!"
You look at him as he walks around and screams in pain. "Bro, It's your first time to getting it, you have to be patient the pain and the perfect result is waiting for you."
"Aghhhhhh!! It so hurt!!" His body became hotter and he was sweating profusely. The muscles in his arms and legs expanded so much that his shirt started to crack. So it made him so uncomfortable that he cracked his shirt off, making you see that his muscles were moving and expanding. Then he fell to the ground and fainted.
"Hey Bro are you ok?" You try to wake him up, and he wakes up soon.
"Yesssssss that's so amazing" He flexed his arm and kissed his biceps " Haha thanks for giving this course to me. I love it so much haha"
"Haha no problem. Welcome to the parasite world." You reach out to hold his hand.
"You welcome hehe" You two look at each other and know exactly what to do next.
My take on packs (this is probably just as long as the original post, so be warned):
I will start by saying that the beginning of what you wrote was funnily similar to my experience. When I awakened, I automatically assumed I'm a wolf. The feelings of being wild, untamed, and wanting to be free were definitely there. I felt disconnected from humans, wary of them, and uncomfortable in human environments.
It wasnât before I met an actual wolfdog when something started nagging inside. She was still pretty much wolf, even as low content. Fixated on her human, skittish, couldn't be let off the leash because she'd just run away. I wrote it off as poorly socialised, but it was the first time I saw 'a wolf' in the human environment, and I very much empathised with that.
Then, years and years later, I met another wolf therian. And though we were very much similar in some things, we were very different in others. It took me many years to realise, but she was just more feral. I'm not comfortable with humans, but I learned to live with them, even sometimes enjoy their attention.
I have a dog-like temperament in part. For years, I was the stereotype of dog motif, I loved like a dog loves. But when I started to wake up to who I am after years of repressing my therianthropy, I became wilder again. I am a wolf. More wolf than a dog. I just tried to file off my claws, blunt my fangs. Be domestic. I'm not a good dog, though.
I see myself more like a stray dog, exactly like you describe. Living on the outskirts, surviving off scraps. It was only recently that I realised I'm probably a high-content wolfdog. I see myself as a wolf, but given the opportunity, I would get close to humans. A scavenger. An opportunist. Especially because I didn't have a pack for years. I needed to learn to survive on my own.
The fun thing is that when I was little, I used to play I was a wolfdog. Sure, it was dogs at first, but when I learned about wolves, I started getting more wolfish. At first, it was low-content wolfdog, but ended up being a high-content wolfdog. Never a wolf. Only after I met my pack.
What I experienced with my pack cannot be compared to anything else. I've never felt this kind of connection before, and I never felt it again since. We could genuinely read each others minds. We were so attuned to one another that it was scary.
Because we were teenagers at that time and didn't know how to regulate our emotions, it became overwhelming. It became toxic. But I never stopped searching for the depth of this connection, and yes, that's probably why I was unsuccessful in my relationships.
It was with them that I fully embraced my wolfishness. I wasn't ashamed to be myself, to express myself, because they were the same. We cuddled platonically, we howled together, we sparred playfully... We were from different parts of my country, so when we met, it was usually for a few days, having a sleepover, cooking together, watching wolf movies, going to nature...
We didn't have an alpha at the beginning. We were a family. We called each other 'brother' and 'sister'. The way wolf packs should be, in my opinion. But then the alpha theory reached us, and we thought we should have an alpha, so we chose one.
I was the alpha of our pack because I basically put us together. But I was 16 and wasn't ready for the responsibility, so I stepped down. We voted for the next alpha, and it was a mistake. I won't get too deep into it, but it was basically the beginning of the end.
Fun fact: David Mech is actually from my country xD The point is he observed wolves in captivity. Those wolves weren't related, so they needed to establish a hierarchy. And that relates to my opinion on therian packs.
Yes, I long for a family-like pack. But when you pick up a bunch of strangers on the internet and put them in one discord server, that doesn't make them a family. So, some kind of structure is needed.
I like that the online pack that I'm in currently has an Alpha (as an admin) and a Beta (as a mod). I don't think it would work without them. But I also agree that packs that push the hierarchy are usually toxic and abuse the power. I've joined a couple of packs like that, and needless to say, I left pretty quickly.
I spent about ten years without a pack, and I basically wasn't living at the time. I suppressed the Wolf, I was looking for the feeling of a pack in all the wrong places, which got me with the wrong crowds too many times to count. Left me traumatised and even more wary of humans than before.
After I started therapy and started coming back to myself, started accepting who I was, I reawakened as a therian again. And with it came the longing for the pack. It was there the whole time, I just didn't realise it is a wolf pack I long for. Not a friend group, not a romantic relationship, specifically a wolf pack.
The loneliness without a pack is unbearable. An online pack makes it more bearable, but it doesn't really substitute the feeling of actually interacting irl and I miss that. Even though I'm super grateful for my pack, without it, this would be a thousand times worse.
I think/hope what we're trying to do with this pack is to be like a family, create close bonds, be friends, even though we're essentially stragers. All the while having a necessary structure that makes it a safe space. We vote on things, so every voice matters. But the admins have the last word, because somebody needs to take the responsibility, I don't think it would work without it. Idk if it will work out in the long run, but I hope it will. So, that's just a recent personal experience.
Outside this pack, I do show pack behaviour towards my family, friends, even our cats. Every time I'm outside with a group of friends, I feel very protective of them, try to keep an eye on everyone, make sure everyone is included. It actually got us in trouble before :D I was too aggressive in my protectivness, and in an attempt to protect 'my pack', the situation escalated unnecessarily.
I also create close bonds to 'my humans'. For me, when we're friends, it's like a family. It's forever. So, it breaks my heart every time a friend moves on or we grow apart. I just can't comprehend that. And I have a very close relationship with my cat. She's the only creature I can share pack intimacy with. We sleep cuddled together, show each other love. Her behaviour is closer to mine than dogs.
To close this, I will give my account of an ideal pack. And I just want to say, I don't want to offend anyone, this is just my own dream version:
My ideal pack would be irl. Just wolves (or wolfdogs). Small one. Definitely under ten members, but probably more than four. If there was a hierarchy, it would be a natural one. Like, someone is more of a leader type, so they would make decisions. Someone's more empathetic, so they'd have the 'Beta role'. Everybody's good at something, so everybody has something to offer to the pack. It was like that with my first irl pack, and it worked before we tried to put man-made hierarchies on it.
When our pack members found partners, they didn't want to be parted from them, so we started meeting as a pack together with their mates. And while I understand that they felt close bonds to them as wolves, considered them their mates, I didn't consider them a pack, as they weren't therians. I just accepted them as an extension of our pack members.
So, for me, pack is something sacred just between the members of the pack (who are in my ideal case, wolf therians). It goes beyond romantic relationships. It's something different. It's simply a family. And you don't abandon family. That's why it broke my heart when my old pack chose their mates over the pack. They grew out of it. I couldn't. And I stand by what I believed then.
I thought I needed to grow out of it too. That there was something wrong with me when I felt such a strong connection to them. But looking back, I don't think there was. I just was a therian, and they weren't. So, I still think it's possible. Maybe I'm chasing a fool's dream. But what we had was real. We found each other as though by fate, completely by accident. And being an adult now, I think we would be able to keep the boundaries and the balance.
I don't really think a pack can work just because the members are all wolf therians. You need to click. You choose your pack. You see them, and you're like 'yes, you're my brother now, I would protect you with my life'. That's what it feels like for me. So, that's why it's so hard to find. But I do believe it's possible.
Maybe the one time I had my pack was it. And I won't ever be able to move on from that. So, I learned to just enjoy what I have. But I still have hope...
(Also, I want to add a small note: I understand that not everyone has a good relationship with their family, me neither btw, so when I mention 'You don't abandon family.', I mean in ideal case, a chosen family in this case.)
Dear Wolf Therians...
â Day 3 of Sol's Writing Challange
I want to start off this post by saying that I'm pretty confident I'm not a wolf therian. During my awakening, I automatically assumed a potential wolf theriotype (which seems to not be an uncommon experience) I actually tried to think and picture myself as a wolf, just to try out the identity but there was something that didn't feel right and it was sort of difficult to understand why. Maybe it was the large size of a wolf not matching with how I felt my canineness should look like, or maybe it was more of a personality/mental thing.
Either way, I kept trying to work it out in my brain and read the works and experiences of wolf therians. When wolf therians spoke about being a wolf, there was a lot of mention of feeling wild and untamed with an instinctual yearning to be free. They spoke commonly about how disconnected they felt from humans and that they were actually pretty wary of them and felt uncomfortable in humam focused environments, and that's when it clicked and why I was not a full wolf because I felt pretty comfortable with humans and I didn't feel this inner call for the wilds. I was actually pretty chill hanging out and around man-made settlements and cities (which were a wolf therians' worst nightmare, according to a few essays). Basically, I felt pretty domestic.
So then I just assumed I might have been a wolfdog. I went from thinking I could have been a high content wolfdog to a mid content to a low content, but even then, that didn't feel right. I read an article that discussed the differences in wolves and stray dogs that actually really illuminated my perspective on canines as a whole. Wolves were monogamous, primarily carnivorous, and apex predators and functioned under a family hierarchy. The stray dogs in the article were scavengers, eating what they could find on the outskirts of human settlements and didn't have to abide by strict seasons to have pups nor did they feel the need to form packs unless they thought it was necessary. All in all, dogs had a lot more variety in expression and were more loose on the "rules" of being a canine compared to wolves.
Eventually I just realized and came to terms that I was just a domestic German Shepherd (and a proud one at that!) with an emotional and aesthetic attachment to wolves that had no impact on my identity and how I identified no matter how cool I thought wolves and wolf therians were.
So, yeah, I'm pretty confident that I'm not a wolf therian.
But I loved reading about the experiences of wolf therians and what being a wolf meant to them and how they expressed that but I was mostly invested in how their wolfness interacted within themselves and other aspects of themselves. What was the culture of wolf therians? How did they describe wolfhood? What facets of themselves did they relate with other wolf therians?
The writings of wolf therians helped me create a foundation of how I understood caninehood so I could build up my own understanding using their experiences as a framework.
But one of the things I really was interested in is how a wolf therian felt about packs.
A wolf therian I follow (@words-of-wolf) wrote a piece about their experience with wolfhood (and how they felt it was different to the way other wolf therians talked about their wolfness), and it actually inspired this whole tangent about packs in general. One of my favorite quotes from the post was:
"But I will say that all of my deepest, most vivid, and most impactful memories... they're not of the hunt. They're not about territory or conflict or hunger. What I remember most richly is the love I felt for my pack. It's a feeling I can't quite find it in me to explain; sometimes I wonder if the reason I identify as loveless in this life, is simply because no love I've ever felt as a human could compare to what I felt as a wolf."
The feeling I got reading this was profund and sobering. I didn't relate to it on a deep level, but I was enamored by how they described what being in a pack really felt like and how the pack is what defined their wolfness and not so much being perceived or perceiving specific behaviors as violent.
I watched a documentary about a therian pack just recently actually and it carried a similar level of awe within me when I watched how close these therians were with others. They cuddled and played together, exhibited both dominant and submissive behaviors in a playful manner and had sleepovers and bonded with each other over a bonfire and it was nice to watch the way they loved being a pack together.
Wolves in the wild need packs. It's something that is so important to their survival and evolution and identity as a whole. They are social animals. The bond between wolves in a wolf pack is so solid and intertwinied with being a wolf that its pretty much what defines a wolf in pop media (for the most part) The wolf pack structure and culture also has been studied intensely for years. It's been observed and analyzed, hypothesized, and debunked.
What was thought to be the truth of how a wolf pack worked was actually revealed to be an inaccurate representation by the same man who created the now debunked alpha/beta/omega theory since the old study was done on captive wolves. Said man, named David Mech, corrected himself and said that wolf packs in the wild functioned very much as family units, with the father and mother at the head of the pack and then their first litter as their subordinates and their latest litter as the bottom of the pack. Makes sense. That's how families work mostly in human society.
But then what does this study say about wolf therians (and therians in general) and the way they feel about packs?
When reading about their experiences, some share this sentiment of feeling utterly alone. This loneliness was, for the most part, super intense, almost depressing sometimes when I read certain posts. Especially when the wolf therians I was reading about didn't seem to know any other therian in general, let alone a wolf one plus they had an almost instinctual aversion to humans. It was something I sympathized with. These were essays that read like lonely howls calling for non-existent pack mates in my head.
But those were specifically wolf therians who didn't have a pack, I did also read posts and essays of wolf therians who were and have been in packs (in their current lives) before, relaying their experiences that ranged from enjoyment and curiosity to horror and abuse mostly, from what I've read, due to these packs adopting the alpha/beta/omega model and trying to mimic this with other therians. Now there has been tons of discussion on how the alpha/omega model in packs leads often to power abuse and there has been valid criticism against the use of it in therian packs but there's also been equal amounts of therians who actually like the alpha system implemented in their own packs due to the euphoria it gives them as a wolf.
Keep in mind, the study that first introduced the alpha theory about wolf packs, while inaccurate to wolves in the wild, was still something captive wolves (essentially strangers) exhibited and I think that's important to note. I remember reading (or maybe watched a video) that mentioned how human society naturally has a hierarchical structure bringing up examples like work environments (bosses, managers, employers) and even schools (teachers, principals, students) and so packs that use the alpha model weren't necessarily a bad thing and actually made sense under these contexts.
I think the problem was because some of these therian packs were created haphazardly and were open to therians who were mostly strangers to each other and the alpha model didn't really give the neccesery room for these packs to bond with each other that much, something that had also been pointed out by other therians. Their solution was to be more picky on who you make a pack with. They said that packs should ideally be created with close friends and loved ones or even family.
It was interesting to read the different pack experiences, especially from a domestic dog point of view. Just as a canine, I also do sympathize with pack culture in general and while some domestic dogs don't really have a connection to the pack concept as much as wolves (save for specific breeds like the husky), I still think a lot about packs and how I'd function in one when I realized that I have been apart of packs, that I am currently in two packs; one with my boyfriend and one with my blood family.
And I do actually see them as my packmates, especially my boyfriend. I feel a loyalty to him and my family, I feel the need to defend them, protect them, and support them, not from a human perspective but entirely as a canine. My family pack can be dysfunctional sometimes, but my dogged loyalty means I'll always be there to support them despite the dominance problems. And it's funny to think about how I was "technically" born into a family unit and then when I grew older, I dispersed and found a mate to make my own pack with just like wolves do in the wild.
Therian packs, I feel like, have been a staple in the therian community probably since the first howl (not fact checked) due to how much the community traditionally has had such a heavy canine/wolf lean and focus (which is something modern therianthropy is improving on by being more inclusive to a variety of species) but I wish there were more resources that talk about packs and pack safety and what others thought of them, what their dream pack is and if they would abide by a heirachy or if they'd go off vibes or if they wanted a big pack that was friendly or something smaller thats a little more exclusive. What type of beings would they want in the pack? What type of behaviors would they exhibit in a pack? What name would your pack have? Would you consider your family or friends as a pack even if they're not therians themselves?
I wish even more for resources and essays about packs that aren't just canine centered like herds and flocks. How would therians run one? Would they be a leader or something more passive?
I know that this sort of veers on the edges of roleplay just a little but it geniuenly is a fun mental exercise for me. I like thinking about these questions because it does make me feel like a canine.
For me, I'm already pretty much living with my ideal pack with my boyfriend, even if it's just the two of us (plus our cats), which is what I prefer. I like how small and exclusive it is, and there's not really problems with dominance, considering we feel both pretty equal in terms of power in our pack. There's no name yet. It's just pure vibes right now, but that's okay, i feel loved and protected in this pack, and I love and protect my pack back. I have so much time to consider what a pack means to me as a dog.
And while I may not feel this deep connection to pack culture the way a wolf therian would, I still hold a similar essence of loyalty and love towards those who I cherish as a canine.
My fascination with pack society and culture is probably something I got from my German Shepherd theriotype. The concept of loyalty, protection, love, and family definitely appeals to it. Regardless, I just love reading and learning about it from academic studies to introspective essays, really, just all kinds of records that talk about packs. It truly feels like I'm searching for a meaning here and even writing this entire post barely scrapes the surface of what I truly want to say about packs, mostly due to me getting tired and my lack of vocabulary and ability to explain things better.
Just think packs are cool and see wolf therians as cool older siblings.
Kind regards,
Sol, a German Shepherd.
