Sweetest kindest purest Bran falling for warmest most pacient funniest Meera must have sent the entire Stark household insane
Robb: you can't do this Bran this is a complete disbalance of the universe
Jon: for real you should have looked for someone awful. You can't bring her home that would be too much goodness in one place the entire house would probably implode
Sansa: I think it makes sense. Bran could only atract sweetness
Robb: it does NOT make sense at all
Theon: the force must be balanced at all times. You have to leave her
Bran: I am NOT going to leave her
Sansa: leave him alone! Just so you know, that whole "opposites attract" isn't a real thing
Robb: YES IT IS
Gendry: *just woke up from last night's sleepover, walks into the kitchen to grab a cup of coffee*
Arya: *lifting her head from her book* oh Gendry by the way we're going out tonight! Don't worry though, it's not a large group. Just Hot Pie and my friends from school and our next door neighbours and their cousin who is really nice and these other guys from the other thing
Gendry: *frowns at her, growls at everyone in general, goes back to sleep*
Robb: *pointing where Gendry had been a moment ago* SEE?

First things first, before you jump at me, I want to say that I mean no disrespect to gendrya fans (because I actually ship them too, since the books, though they are not my main ship) but the amount of eye sex they’ve done in two episodes before the actual sex is a little awkward and kind of funny, because they had a grand total of 2 scenes and they were undressing each other with their eyes the whole time, especially Arya (which makes the outraged comments about their sex scene much more laughable).
Their first scene in episode 2 is literally Arya checking him out for 3 minutes, and when Gendry sees her staring at him he has this smirk like “baby you like what you see?” as he does this pumping motion with his beefy arm, because he’s literally inserting his hot sword (the sword he’s working on) in the water over and over, and the contrast of temperature is producing smoke. Then they proceed to flex muscles to impress each other (Gendry is the one more impressed, because Arya had seen what he had to offer way back and I think she’s been remembereing that quite... fondly, lets say), with Gendry slamming an ax into a piece of wood (because his "weapon" is strong enough) and Arya throwing knives (because she can handle herself just fine) in a triumph of the most peculiar foreplay ever LOL
Truly, subtlety thy name is gendrya. But all the same, I SO enjoyed it.

"The last persons standing", lol. And then their descendents would claim that they come from the last men of Westeros, just like the heroes claim they come from the first men... Seriously, I think the sex scenes we've got in seasons 7 and 8 are foils for the big one. After so long we should have sth that is normal, sweet, loving. We deserve it, as viewers, for our patience, lol, not to mention that our heroes deserve it more!
Dear nonny,
I must admit that I don’t get the first half of your ask? tumblr probably ate something....
I agree about the sex scenes in season 7 and 8. We got Missworm, Gendrya, Braime and Jon€rys.... and Jon€rys was by far the worst although it was the most explicit.
By now I am glad we didn’t get any Jonsa kiss or something. The way the ships are falling left and right I would be worried for my preferred endgame!
I think of all these Missworm in season 7 was the most positive. it was a scene where the two people obviously cared for another and the sex was founded in a deep love for each other.
I think Gendrya was about the affirmation of life pre-battle. It was nice, consensual and there might have been the seed to something stronger and lasting. Gendry at least had the feeling that it was more than just sex, but I guess they can’t come together before Arya has got some closure on her list. I hope this is a red herring and Arya isn’t after Cersei at all but has some secret plan with Sansa, but anyway. I think in the case of Gendrya, I still have some hope, that they’ll find each other again. But maybe they both have to grow a bit before that.
I think Braime was more than just post-battle lust, much more. It was loving and sweet. Jaime was so obvious about it, that it was incredibly funny and nice. It was clearly something that made both happy. Jaime was practically glowing and I loved that he cut Tyrion short on his jokes. Brienne’s vulnerability is safe with him. I do think Jaime went on a mission to kill Cersei. He was happy to stay, until he heard that Cersei has the upper hand again and I think he wants closure for his toxic relationship and cut Brienne out. But there is a chance that she’ll understand that. He has to go South to finish the toxic relationship with his Mad Queen.
I do think this is a foil for Jon and Jonsa. Jon first has to got South finish his toxic relationship to his Mad Queen and his relative before he can enter a new relationship (and maybe Jaime made a mistake there). And isn’t it interesting that the better lover interests are in the North?
All these are foils for Jon€rys: Missworm shows how a loving first time can go and the first nervous kiss was a foil to Jon€rys not having a first kiss. Gendry kneeling to Arya in this episode out of heartfelt love and adoration was a contrast to Jon kneeling before Dany in heart-felt desparation to convince her that he does not mean to take the throne. Braime is a foreshadowing of Jonsa I think. Not to mention that Gendrya and Braime had a first kiss and after-glow.
And all these couples, who might be doomed after all (like Missworm sadly was) had about as much meaningful scenes as Jon€rys.
I’m not sure if we get Jonsa sex scene though. I guess we see them happily married in an epilogue. It would feel too rushed now, tbh, unless they really push it in episode 5.
I sincerely hope that having all these ships come to some sort of closure bodes well for Jonsa, the contrast to the clusterfuck that is Jon€rys is pointed at the very least, and there is no way that this is not intentional.
If you want to compare Jon€rys to other ‘couples‘ some very messed up and unbalanced relationships come to mind: Joffrey and Sansa, Littlefinger and Lysa, Littlefinger and Sansa.... and I think more people would see it, if Jon was a woman and Da€nerys a man.
Thanks for the ask!
