What is the Tree of Feelings SEKAI?
The Tree of Feelings SEKAI (often called the Tree SEKAI within the fandom, and for the rest of this post) is a mysterious SEKAI that first appears in Miku's Where Feelings Come Together Colorful Festival story, although it reappears in the Sakura Across SEKAI, Interconnecting Our Feelings and Let Your Song Resonate Throughout SEKAI! events.
The SEKAI isn't actually a proper SEKAI, but actually a Fragment SEKAI: it appears in response to shared feelings and will disappear again once those have been resolved. Additionally, it can be accessed through a Fragment of Feelings, the same way you would enter a Fragment SEKAI. Although, some characters are shown to be forcibly teleported there by their phones, something which has never been shown with other Fragment SEKAI so far.
However, whose Fragment SEKAI is this? It first appears in Miku's Colorful Festival story, so it must be hers, right? Well, not exactly.
youtube
Miku's Where Feelings Come Together story starts off in Shibuya, with Ichika watching a PV for an upcoming Virtual Singer fan festival (the one she later attends in the Scramble Fan FESTA! event). She considers participating in the festival with Leo/need, and her train of thought runs to Miku in the School SEKAI. Meanwhile, Kohane and Minori are out shopping together, and watch the same PV. Minori comments on how cute Miku is and how she sparkles on stage, thinking of her own Miku. Kohane, on the other hand, says that she likes it when Miku looks really cool, also with her own Miku in mind. At the same time, Kanade is walking home after visiting her dad, and sees the same PV. She's reminded that she wanted to pick up a Virtual Singer CD, and how she never would've been interested in Miku had it not been for the Empty SEKAI.
Between the SEKAI, Miku's base form senses warm and gentle feelings gathering, and starts to realise that something is happening, but doesn't reveal what it is.
In the Wonderland SEKAI, Tsukasa is trying to find Miku, since she promised to help him with rehearsals. He thinks back to his first meeting with the Virtual Singers, and how helpful they ended up being to the point he frequently visits the SEKAI now. After deciding that he should show them his appreciation, a ball of light appears, taking him to a mysterious SEKAI, the Tree SEKAI.
As it turns out, Ichika, Minori, Kohane and Kanade were also teleported to the Tree SEKAI, although in their cases, it was because their phone flashed, similarly to how they (excluding Kanade) were first introduced to the SEKAI during the main story. While they all try to explain to each other how they got there, Miku reveals herself to the others (and confirms that Tsukasa was transported via a Fragment of Feelings).
Miku explains that the Tree SEKAI came to be because of the intertwined feelings of the five. She explains that it isn't quite ready to become a full-fledged SEKAI yet, outright confirming that it is a Fragment SEKAI. She adds that the SEKAI is filled with warmth that has a certain someone in mind, and asks what the five were thinking about before coming to the Tree SEKAI. They realise that they were all thinking about Miku, or their respective Mikus, and in response, Miku beckons them all over to the tree.
In the tree, all of them find items belonging to them. Kanade finds sheet music for her songs, Kohane finds flyers for STAY GOLD and RAD WEEKEND, Tsukasa finds the script for Pegasus Odyssey, the first show he wrote for Wonderlands x Showtime, and Minori finds a promotional photo for MORE MORE JUMP! that she had Kohane take after the group was formed. Ichika then finds the wish plaques that she and the other members of Leo/need wrote at New Years, as well as some of her sheet music and lyrics. Miku concludes that the tree must be a wishing tree of sorts, made from their feelings together, as well as their hopes and dreams.
Ichika then questions how the fact they were all thinking of Miku connects to this tree. Miku explains that they - the Mikus from each SEKAI, and not just this Miku - want the feelings of the people they watch over to keep growing and moving forward. So the Wishing Tree isn't just their tree, it's also Mikus' tree, nurtured by their hopes and dreams for everyone.
Everyone was able to find their true feelings thanks to a Miku, and as a result the tree was able to flourish. Miku thanks the five for placing their trust in "her", but the five agree that they should be the ones thanking her. The SEKAI begins to disappear once they have exchanged thanks, and Miku explains that since this is not a full SEKAI yet, it will return to being a Fragment. However, it won't be gone forever, and one day, when the sapling becomes a fully grown tree, they might be able to...
The five return to where they were before, with no memory of what happened.
We actually learn a lot about the SEKAI from just this card story despite it being its first appearance. We know that despite the fact that there are several SEKAI in existence, this one was born from the shared feelings specifically between the people connected to the School, Stage, Street, Wonderland, and Empty SEKAI, as well as the base form of Miku who exists between SEKAI. Even though the SEKAI is currently only in a Fragment state, it can grow into a full SEKAI from there. Interestingly, it was confirmed in Miku's Street SEKAI 2* that SEKAI grow over time, and this new information heavily suggests that all SEKAI actually can be accessed prior to fully forming via a Fragment of Feeling (for example, the five main SEKAI in the game may possibly have been accessible prior to their full formation, although as far as we know, this didn't happen).

The second time the Treet SEKAI appears is in the Virtual Singer-focused event, Sakura Across SEKAI, Interconnecting Our Feelings. This time, only the first Virtual Singers to appear in each of the five main SEKAI go to the Tree SEKAI though.
In the Empty SEKAI, the N25 members are talking about cherry blossoms with Miku, Rin, MEIKO, and Luka. The group offers to show the cherry blossoms to the Virtual Singers, although it won't be the same as seeing them in person since they will only be able to see them in their hologram forms. Miku then decides to see if there are cherry blossoms in the SEKAI, since Mafuyu's feelings have made other things appear there before. While she doesn't find anything due to the SEKAI being, well, empty, she realises that she's happy that the SEKAI still feels more lively than it did before, and that she wants to continue supporting Mafuyu. As she thinks to herself, a Fragment of Feelings appears, and transports her to the Tree SEKAI.
Meanwhile, in the Stage SEKAI, MORE MORE JUMP! helps the Virtual Singers brainstorm for their next performance. Once a spring theme is chosen, Rin decides that she wants to include falling cherry blossom petals in their concert. Everyone looks across the various stages to try and find a cherry blossom tree, but they don't have any luck. In the end, they opt for using pink lighting, so Rin goes backstage to find some lights. Rin hopes the show will go well after everything everyone has done to accommodate her cherry blossom idea, and happens to find a Fragment of Feelings at that moment.
In the Street SEKAI, MEIKO and Rin have made a new cherry blossom-themed spring menu for Crase Cafe. Vivid BAD SQUAD arrive, and discuss having a picnic under some cherry blossoms in An's neighbourhood, although this makes KAITO and Luka a bit jealous, since there are no cherry blossoms in the SEKAI. Meanwhile, Len wants to find a way to thank MEIKO and Rin for their hard work, so he tries to find a cherry blossom tree for them. He isn't able to find one, but does find a Fragment of Feelings. MEIKO walks out into the street just after he finds it, and it takes them both to the Tree SEKAI.
School SEKAI Luka finds herself already in the Tree SEKAI, and remembers finding a Fragment of Feelings on the school roof. She recalls that Leo/need and the Virtual Singers had been trying to find a cherry blossom tree for a picnic. They had been trying extra hard because cherry blossoms reminded them of Luka as well, and were disappointed that they couldn't find any. Wanting to support Leo/need and their feelings, Luka went to look for a cherry blossom tree herself, and that's how she ended up in the Tree SEKAI.
Finally in the Wonderland SEKAI, WonderlandsxShowtime are trying to create an effect of a cherry blossom petal shower for their next show. They want to use real petals, but there aren't any cherry blossoms in the SEKAI, and they don't want to use the petals from the singing flowers. In the end, Emu suggests taking some petals from the cherry blossom tree in her garden. KAITO is thankful that they're always bringing fun and interesting things over to SEKAI, and thinks of a way to repay them, deciding to look for a real chery blossom in the SEKAI. Whilst looking around, he finds the plushies. They say they have a gift for him, and present him with a Fragment of Feelings, transporting him to the Tree SEKAI.
In the Tree SEKAI, there are cherry blossom petals falling through the sky. Miku goes over to the tree to see if that's where they're coming from, and spots something sparkling on the tree. Rin spots the same sparkly things, identifying them as Minori and the others' feelings, before spotting feelings belonging to other people too. Len and MEIKO also spot that there are other feelings here, with MEIKO making the assumption that they are from other SEKAI. She also has a feeling that where they are isn't an ordinary SEKAI. Luka feels that there are other people in the SEKAI, although she can't see anyone else there. KAITO has the same feeling, but is happy that the tree is proof that everyone's feelings are growing.
Suddenly, there is a very strong wind, and Empty SEKAI Miku briefly sees the original Miku. Empty SEKAI Miku wonders if the original Miku has been watching over everyone's feelings the whole time. The SEKAI then starts to disappear.
The original Miku briefly appears again, commenting on her surprise at everyone being there. She concludes that their individual desires to help brought them all together, and wishes them luck in future.
When Rin returns to the Stage SEKAI, she is greeted by Len and MEIKO. She tells them that she briefly saw other versions of them, and MEIKO realises they must've been from other SEKAI, and adds that nothing like that has ever happened before. In Street SEKAI, MEIKO mentions having been able to see peoples' feelings through Fragments before, but never anything like that, and she wonders if the tree SEKAI is a sort of nexus between SEKAI. In School SEKAI, Luka says the same thing, wondering if that was some sort of special fragment. In the Wonderland SEKAI, KAITO realises that they must have all been brought to the same place because of their connected feelings, and realises that they must all want to help people very much.
This event reveals that the Tree SEKAI is also controlled by the feelings of the Virtual Singers from the five main SEKAI. Despite not being the actual reason they were brought together, they managed to create cherry blossom petals in the SEKAI because they were all looking for cherry blossoms. We also learn that this SEKAI can be accessed by any shared feelings between the five SEKAI. While the five human characters accessed it because they wanted to give thanks to Miku and original Miku wanted to thank them in return, the Virtual Singers accessed it because they all wanted to help the owners/inhabitants of their SEKAI.
The MEIKOs also bring up some interesting points. They say that this has never happened before, which tells us that in the multiple years of SEKAI existing, no group of people has ever had feelings this strong and intertwined. MEIKO's idea of the Tree SEKAI being a nexus, along with Luka wondering if it was a special sort of fragment, makes a lot more sense, and could suggest that the Tree SEKAI, is neither a Fragment SEKAI or a full SEKAI, but a mysterious third type.
Also both Luka and MEIKO mention having seen the feelings of the humans in their SEKAI through Fragments before, despite neither of them having appeared in a Colorful Festival story at this point, implying that there may be other Fragment SEKAI that the human characters never accessed.
youtube
The most recent appearance of the Tree SEKAI was in the second Virtual Singer-focused event, Let Your Song Resonate Throughout SEKAI! event. Although this time, things were a little different.
After everything that had happened in the past year, the Virtual Singers want to do something to support and encourage the owners of their respective SEKAI as they move forward in their journeys.
While all of them are discussing ideas and planning shows, the original Miku is watching over them from between SEKAI. She's then joined by the other original Virtual Singers, who were also curious about what's going on in the different SEKAI. Miku wishes she could do more to help the "them" in SEKAI who are trying hard to support the people in their SEKAI.
In the Stage SEKAI, Luka and the others are practising a special performance dedicated to MORE MORE JUMP!. Luka wants to keep trying harder because MMJ has always done the same and she wants to support them. At that moment, a Fragment of Feelings appears in front of her and teleports her away.
Meanwhile, in the Wonderland SEKAI, Miku and the others are rehearsing a play for WonderlandsxShowtime. Miku is so happy that the members of WxS were able to smile and chase their dreams together, that she's brought to tears. It's then that she hears a mysterious voice wish her luck. This voice was actually the original Miku, speaking to Wonderland Miku from between the SEKAI. She isn't sure how she was able to do it, but she wanted to support them all a lot and just said what she wanted to. The other Virtual Singers voice their agreement, and a Fragment of Feelings appears before them.
In the School SEKAI, Len is practising his singing so that he can perform for Leo/need. However, he can't quite get it to sound the same as when Miku sang with L/n at their concert. Miku explains that she wanted to support the girls and give them a push forwards, which Len keeps in mind. After Miku leaves, Len spots a Fragment of Feelings on a chair.
In the Empty SEKAI, Rin is singing Kanade's song to herself. Rin wants to be able to sing the same way as Miku can, the same way Miku was able to sing to Mafuyu and ease her loneliness. Nearby, Miku and Len approach MEIKO, trying to find Rin. MEIKO explains that Rin is focused on something else, and says that they should leave her alone. Once Miku and Len are gone, MEIKO joins in with Rin, although she doesn't think she can sing the same way Rin can. As they sing together, a Fragment of Feelings appears, and transports them to another SEKAI.
Back in the Wonderland SEKAI, Miku talks to KAITO about the voice she heard and the feeling of being watched. KAITO is able to relate to that, and says that it might be the other "them" cheering them on. This gets Miku excited, and she says that she wants to meet the other "them". And as luck may have it, a Fragment of Feelings appears.
This time we're somewhere slightly different though. It's never actually stated if this is the same as the Tree SEKAI or somewhere totally different, although it is a fairly similar landscape.
Wonderland Miku has a look at the fragments floating around, and spots the Wonderland SEKAI in one of them. Excited, she then has a look at the other fragments to see what SEKAI they contain.
The original Virtual Singers find themselves in the same mysterious place. KAITO reckons that the place is made of someone's feelings, and Rin concludes that it's a Fragment SEKAI, although they're not sure exactly what feelings it was made from, or whose SEKAI it is. The group then spots the floating fragments, and realises that this is a SEKAI that connects other SEKAI together. The group splits up to investigate some more, and end up running into "themselves".
The original Rin meets Empty SEKAI Rin, and asks if they can sing together because Empty Rin is such a beautiful singer. The original MEIKO joins Empty MEIKO at the same time, and thanks "herself" for always watching over N25.
Street SEKAI KAITO is here too, and runs into his original self. Street KAITO thinks "himself" is very cool, and admits he isn't really sure what he's doing here, but he's glad that they were able to meet. The original KAITO thanks Street KAITO for always working hard to help Vivid BAD SQUAD.
The Lens meet next. The original Len thinks School SEKAI Len's maturity and musical skills are really cool, and says that they both have to try their best in future. Then it's the Lukas turn. The original Luka thinks it's wonderful that Stage SEKAI Luka is able to bring hope to people as an idol, and says that she was able to give her hope too. Hearing these words, Stage Luka is motivated to try even harder.
Finally, it's the Mikus turn to meet. The original praises Wonderland Miku for her exciting shows that are able to make everyone smile. She believes that as long as Wonderland Miku is by everyone's side, everything will be fine, and she tells her to keep doing her best for them. Wonderland Miku asks to know more about the original Miku, but as soon as she starts to respond, the SEKAI begins to disappear.
This instance of the Tree SEKAI appearing actually leaves us with more questions that answers, and obviously the big question is if this is even the Tree SEKAI.
As mentioned, the appearance is fairly similar. Both SEKAI have a large field, and the sky is identical between the Tree SEKAI illustrations and Rin's Another Version of Me untrained 4* above. Aside from the lack of a tree, which could easily be excused by this possibly being a different part of that Fragment SEKAI, the field is noticeably different. The SEKAI in this event has flowering, bright green fields, while in Sakura Across SEKAI and Miku's Colorful Festival story, the field is a different shade of green and lacks any flowers. The grass is also a bit patchy in those older stories. A last detail that suggests these might be different SEKAI is that Miku doesn't recognise it.
However, I do believe that these are the same SEKAI. Firstly, both SEKAI are a bridge between the five we see in the game. GIven that the Tree SEKAI already exists, it feels very unlikely that another SEKAI serving the exact same purpose would be born, let alone looking extremely similar. As for the differences in appearance? The SEKAI grew of course. As mentioned earlier in this post, Street SEKAI Miku explains very early on in the game that SEKAI grow and develop over time if the feelings that created them don't dwindle. The original Miku alludes to it in her Colorful Festival story as well. I think that that could easily explain why the fields look healthier and are flowering now - because they grew with the feelings of those from the five SEKAI.
And a bit more on the meta side, I want to mention the flowers specifically. Obviously, between the second and third year of the game, this SEKAI went from being an empty field aside from a single tree, to being filled with flowers in it's next appearance. While this is already explained by the theory that it's the same SEKAI growing with time and feelings, I would like to draw attention to the tagline for the third year of the game: Journey to Bloom. All the units made significant changes and developments in order to go further down their respective paths and get closer to their dreams. As a metaphor, they went from being small buds to blooming flowers. I think the same might apply to the Tree SEKAI as a visual metaphor.
So what is the Tree of Feelings SEKAI? Well, it's not entirely clear. Not even the Virtual Singers are entirely sure what it is, because something like it has never existed before. What we do know is that it's a sort of Fragment SEKAI that acts as a nexus between the School, Stage, Street, Wonderland, and Empty SEKAI. When the inhabitants and owners of those SEKAI have the same strong feelings at the same time, they will be transported to the Tree SEKAI and allowed to meet. Virtual Singers are able to retain their memories of being in this SEKAI, although humans cannot.
Currently, the SEKAI is still a Fragment, and can only be accessed for short periods of time. However, it is still growing, and it has been implied that it could one day become a full-fledged SEKAI.
As of posting, Miku never met the original five who unlocked the Tree SEKAI again, although this post will be revisted if any updated are made to the lore of this Fragment? Nexus? SEKAI.

How to emotionally abuse your child: comparing and contrasting Mafuyu Asahina and Toya Aoyagi.
There are two actively abusive parents in Project Sekai, and both of them are emotionally abusive in similar ways and for similar reasons. But the treatment and development of Toya’s father and Mafuyu’s mother has been very distinctly different over the course of the story so far. Why has Toya’s relationship with his father stabilised and even marginally improved over the course of his events, while Mafuyu’s relationship with her mother hasn’t just deteriorated but actively crashed and burned?
I believe the difference lies in intent and perspective. (Before we begin in earnest, I want to note that, at the end, I’ll briefly touch upon some other parents, specifically the ones who might also be worthy of criticism. Most notably, I’ll discuss Ena and Akito’s father and the (many) flaws in how he has treated both of his children. Refer to that if you’re interested.)
Toya and Mafuyu have a lot of similarities. They’re both emotionally repressed, they’re both exceptionally skilled (Toya more specifically being a musical prodigy, while Mafuyu has a more general kind of exceptional competence), and they both have very difficult relationships with their parents (their father and mother, respectively). They’ve both slowly but surely come out of their shells and recovered thanks to the help of their groups (VBS and Niigo, with an emphasis on Akito and Kanade, respectively). Because of the connections they’ve made, both of them have received the support needed to directly confront their parents and choose a new path for themselves, regardless of what their parents think.
Toya’s father and Mafuyu’s mother also have a lot of similarities. They’re both overbearing, controlling parents who pile pressure and expectations on the shoulders of their children, both have isolated their children in an attempt to focus their attention on the things they deemed important, and they’ve both rejected the paths their children have decided to walk in the end.
Both of them have claimed that their behaviour was motivated by good intentions, that they truly want the best for their children and want them to be happy, and that everything they’ve done has been in service of making life easier for their children.
Both of them have failed, but only Mafuyu’s mother is lying (including to herself).
Toya’s father.
Toya’s father has been a successful classically trained musician his entire life, and has raised two other boys to be successful classically trained musicians. Neither of Toya’s brothers live in Shibuya, but small mentions of them reveal that, though they might have shared Toya’s current attitude in the past, both of them have told Toya they now agree with their father, despite going through the same kind of upbringing by the same man, with all the horrible things that implies.
Why?
Because Toya’s father, more than anything, loves classical music. It makes him happier than virtually anything else in the world. Toya’s father loves classical music, and has loved classical music for his entire life, as much as the most passionate characters in this story love music. Toya’s father loves classical music as much as (or maybe more than) Toya loves street music. Toya’s father loves classical music as much as Akito loves street music.
Both of Toya’s brothers have claimed to share this love. The reason Toya’s brothers can now look back and say that their father was right is because classical music has made both of Toya’s brothers happier than virtually anything else in the world, too (or, at least, that’s what they told Toya).
The reason Toya’s father raised Toya the way that he did is because, from his point of view, there is nothing that will make an Aoyagi happier than classical music. He has made the mistake a lot of parents make. He has assumed his sons are the same as him. He has assumed what would make him happy, would make his sons happy. And nothing has given him any indication that this is false. Not Toya’s brothers, and not even Toya.
Toya has also loved classical music his entire life. The reason Toya rebelled and quit classical music isn’t because he doesn’t like it, or doesn’t like playing it. Toya rebelled because his father was suffocating him, isolating him and controlling him, and the association with that suffocation made Toya’s relationship with classical music strained, but it has been stated again and again that the reason Toya has avoided classical music for a while now is because it brings up unpleasant memories, not because he doesn’t actually like the music.
The crucial difference between Toya and his father is that classical music does not make Toya happier than anything in the world. He might enjoy it, and he might even love it, but Toya will, and would, never be able to look back on the trauma and isolation he endured and believe it was worth it. Toya would never have willingly sacrificed his childhood, his social life, his freedom for classical music. Not when he was a child, not now, and according to everything we know about him, not in the future either.
But Toya’s father would have. Toya’s father believes the suffering he endured was worth the happiness he now feels. Toya’s brothers have both told him that they believe the suffering they endured was worth the happiness they now feel. And Toya’s father thinks the suffering Toya has endured and would have needed to continue to endure would be worth the happiness he’s convinced he would feel in the future.
He does not understand Toya’s switch to street music. Or, well, he does; Toya switched to street music specifically because he knew his father would hate it more than any other type of music, and Toya’s father is aware of this. Toya didn’t have it in him to quit music entirely, but the reason he chose this type of music specifically is for no reason other than “my dad would hate it”.
The thing that Toya’s father doesn’t understand is that Toya may have started street music to spite his father, but that’s not why he does it now. Toya fell in love with street music, to the same extent that his father fell in love with classical music, and it shows when he performs. That’s why, when Toya’s father went to see Toya perform for the first time at the end of his first event, their relationship changed for the better. Because Toya’s father wants his son to be happy, and the reason he’s been such a bad father is because he’s stubbornly convinced that classical music would make Toya happy, despite all evidence to the contrary. And when he saw his son on that stage, Toya was happier than classical music had ever made him.
His father may despise the music Toya makes, and there may be a pretty big part of him that thinks Toya would, someday, be able to fall in love with classical music in the same way he has, and maybe he even believes that Toya would be happier in the long run if he stuck to classical music. But first and foremost, Toya’s father wants Toya to be happy, and that performance showed him that street music made Toya happy. Their relationship softened because Toya’s father was able to understand, in some tiny way, that Toya wasn’t ruining his own life out of spite. Even if he thinks Toya would be happier in the long run, that performance showed Toya’s father that, if nothing else, Toya wasn’t going to be unhappy.
He still wants Toya to quit street music and return to classical. But the dynamic has changed because the stakes have changed. Previously, from Toya’s father’s perspective, it was either “continue performing this drivel and be miserable for the rest of your life” or “return to classical, push through the hardship and be happy”. Now, it’s “continue performing this drivel and be happy” or “return to classical, push through the hardship and be happier”. Those are entirely different stakes.
Mafuyu’s mother.
Now let’s talk about Mafuyu’s mother. What makes her different? Why does nothing get through to her? Why is Mafuyu’s mother portrayed so much harsher and so much more negatively?
It’s difficult to really pinpoint Mafuyu’s mother’s perspective and intentions, because Mafuyu’s mother is a manipulator first and foremost. Almost nothing she says can be taken at face value. But there’s a couple of possible interpretations, some more charitable than others.
Right off the bat, I don’t believe the most charitable explanation: that she genuinely wants what is best for her daughter and is simply misguided. If this was true, she wouldn’t have constantly invaded her privacy to snoop on whether or not she was still making music or talking to her friends. If this was true, she wouldn’t have thrown her synthesiser away behind her back. If this was true, seeing Mafuyu break down into tears and beg her mother to allow her even the tiniest amount of agency would have made her do more than blink. If this was true, she would have been rightly horrified that Mafuyu said she’s been unbelievably miserable for years instead of being mildly nonplussed, then immediately trying to guilt trip her by crying and repeating her spiel that this is all for the best. More than that, she wouldn’t have stopped crying immediately when she noticed her guilt tripping wasn’t working.
On the other hand, there’s the least charitable interpretation of Mafuyu’s mother: that she’s a narcissist who wants to live vicariously through her daughter’s success. She wants Mafuyu to be a successful doctor, not because she wants her to be happy, but because being able to say that she raised a successful doctor would make her feel successful by proxy. This isn’t impossible, or even improbable. There’s a not insignificant amount of parents who do, genuinely, feel this way, and the consequences of that are often severely traumatic for the children.
However, I don’t think this is accurate either. She’s too often portrayed as insisting everything is for Mafuyu’s sake for it to be entirely a lie, or at least a lie that she’s aware of. Instead, I think what’s happening is a little more insidious.
I believe Mafuyu’s mother has, at some point, decided who Mafuyu is, and that is the Mafuyu that she loves. And she does love that Mafuyu. But she loves only that Mafuyu, and a version of Mafuyu that deviates from the Mafuyu that she has decided to love isn’t the true Mafuyu.
Mafuyu’s mother has created a cardboard cutout of her daughter in her own mind, and when Mafuyu doesn’t fit it, it’s not the cutout that’s wrong, it’s Mafuyu that has somehow been altered.
This is why, when Mafuyu’s mother says her actions are for the sake of Mafuyu’s happiness, it’s simultaneously completely honest and entirely wrong. Because Mafuyu’s mother does genuinely believe that studying hard, getting into a good school, and becoming a successful doctor and a respectable adult who makes a lot of money would make her Mafuyu happy. She’s completely honest when she says it, which is also part of why she’s so good at manipulating Mafuyu.
The problem is that her Mafuyu doesn’t exist. And she has never existed. Her Mafuyu was, from the very beginning, an act that Mafuyu performed to make herself fit the shape of the cardboard cutout in her mother’s mind. The cardboard cutout was never real. It was a fake, a fake that Mafuyu tried desperately to pretend was real because she loves her mother and wanted to make her smile.
Why does her mother constantly deny Mafuyu’s real feelings? Why does she fail to understand anything, even when Mafuyu herself breaks down crying and shouts it out loud? Because the person Mafuyu’s mother loves is the cardboard cutout in her mind. Because the person telling her that she’s miserable isn’t her Mafuyu. That's a deviation that needs to be corrected, a corruption that needs to be removed, an infection that needs to be excised. The real Mafuyu would never say these things. The real Mafuyu is a good, kind girl who works hard, studies diligently, is always polite and does whatever her mom tells her to do.
The version of Mafuyu in her mind isn’t miserable, so Mafuyu can’t be miserable. If Mafuyu is miserable, then something must have changed her. Because her Mafuyu can’t be miserable.
This is why she so consistently blames Kanade and the rest of Niigo. It’s why she’s so insistent on Mafuyu quitting Niigo. It’s why she says things like “if Mafuyu wants to make music, she can, but she should prioritise studying first, and come back to it once she’s secure and stable”. It’s why she’s all for her being a member of the archery club, but constantly tells Mafuyu to stop making music.
It’s not about the activity. It’s about the people, putting ideas in her head, corrupting her, making her deviate from her real self. It’s about the discrepancy between the Mafuyu she sees and her Mafuyu.
If Mafuyu isn’t behaving like what she expects, it’s not her expectations that are wrong, it’s Mafuyu that’s wrong.
If the cardboard cutout doesn’t match reality, then reality is wrong.
Mafuyu’s mother loves a fantasy. More than that, she chooses to love a fantasy. The reason Mafuyu’s mother is portrayed so negatively, and never receives any of the positive development that any of the other parents do, is because she’s denying reality.
Project Sekai is about embracing your true feelings. Toya’s father didn’t understand Toya’s true feelings for a long time. When he eventually did understand them, though, he acknowledged them. He didn’t agree with them, but he acknowledged them. He understood, at the very least, that street music made Toya happy.
Mafuyu’s mother doesn’t just not understand Mafuyu’s true feelings, she denies them outright. She wants to kill them, in Kaito’s words. There is no reality where these are Mafuyu’s true feelings. There is no version of Mafuyu that isn’t her Mafuyu. She has one daughter, and she loves that daughter, and only that daughter.
Nevermind that that daughter isn’t real. Nevermind that her real daughter is absolutely miserable, begging for love and affection that isn’t predicated on her putting on a mask and playing a character that she can barely recognize herself in.
That is the difference between Toya’s father and Mafuyu’s mother. Toya’s father, for all his flaws and abuse and self-centred outlook, actually loves Toya. Mafuyu’s mother only loves the version of Mafuyu she created in her own head.
Other parents.
Alright, to cap this off, let’s look at a couple of other characters who are, in some way, questionably effective at being parents.
Ena and Akito’s father.
There’s probably a not-insignificant amount of people that were surprised when I said that only Toya’s father and Mafuyu’s mother were actively abusive. Ena and Akito’s father is also an almost exclusively negative influence in his childrens’ lives, so what makes him different?
What makes Ena and Akito’s father different is that I don’t think he’s actively abusive. I think he’s incredibly neglectful.
There is a massive difference in how often Ena and Akito’s father shows up and how often Toya’s father or Mafuyu’s mother show up. He appears very rarely in Ena’s events and barely has any lines even though the few lines he does have are incredibly important for Ena’s character. He doesn’t show up in Akito’s events at all. The only thing he consistently does is be a constant shadow hanging over Ena’s head, and he doesn’t need to be present to do that.
Ena and Akito’s father is barely a part of their family. He doesn’t try to control his children, or isolate them, or even criticise them outside of the rare instances he bothers talking to them. He’s a presence that sets Ena on edge constantly when she has to leave her room, but the amount of times Ena actually talks to her father can be counted on one hand. He’s profoundly and exclusively unsupportive, entirely emotionally (and often physically) distant and basically fully absent from Ena’s life outside of the two or three times he tells her to give up on her dreams because she has no talent and will never be successful.
And yet, in a weird way, Ena somehow has the better relationship with their father out of the two of them, because Ena has any relationship with their father at all. It’s very much negative, but they do very rarely interact. Akito’s only, only, conversation with the man is in Ena’s first event, where he tries to make their father understand that he’s, well, being a fucking terrible father to Ena. I scoured through every event story, every card story available in English. Nothing. There’s not even a mention of him talking to his father offscreen. Please correct me if I’m wrong, maybe the JP events/stories have something.
The only time he talks about his father is in the first side story of his card for Toya’s second event. He talks about a camping trip his family went on, and -- surprise surprise -- he paid barely any attention to his family, mostly just sitting there and painting the landscape. The closest he came was when he painted his family, until Ena pushed him in the river for not paying attention to her.
So yeah. No less of a bad dad than the other parents. Pretty terrible person. Just not in the same category as Toya’s father and Mafuyu’s mother, even if the influence he had on his daughter in particular ended up being just as negative and scarring. Also, thank god Akito met Ken because by all accounts that boy has spent most of his pre-RAD WEEKEND life without a father.
Tsukasa and Saki’s parents.
Saki was in the hospital for most of her early teens. In hindsight, their parents could have spent more time with Tsukasa, but it’s entirely understandable that they prioritised their sick, hospitalised daughter, even if it was the wrong choice. There are no bad guys here.
Tsukasa spent a fair chunk of his childhood lonelier than other kids, and in an ideal world, with perfect parents, that wouldn’t have happened. We don’t live in an ideal world. There are no perfect parents. I genuinely believe they did the best you could reasonably expect. That’s it.
Kanade’s father.
The man had what was probably a stroke from overwork and stress. Normally, telling your incredibly musically gifted daughter that she should keep creating her own music and that a lot of people will enjoy her music is nothing but good parenting.
What happened was tragic in practically every way, but it would have been tragic regardless of what he said. Whether or not he emphasised that Kanade should continue composing her own music, Kanade was severely traumatised and would have spiralled into something unhealthy anyway. That it became this particular brand of unhealthy isn’t something I can blame him for.
(I can, however, blame child protective services and mental health care in Japan, who dropped the ball so fucking hard by letting a girl barely into her teens not only live by herself with no actual support because her grandmother continued to pay for the house but have consistently neglected to, y’know, actually check up on her. Ever. Even when she’s literally in the hospital. The closest they ever came is some of the random nurses being mildly concerned about the grieving 14-15 year old crying next to her comatose father’s hospital bed.)
Kanade’s saviour complex is a result of what her father said to her, yes. I don’t think that’s on him.
Mizuki.
Mizuki’s parents and sister are fantastic, I just wanna shout them out for being the only healthy family in Niigo.
I suck at ending things.
Anyway that’s it. Stand by for other stuff at some point in the future. There’s the beginnings of an idea about contrasting Mafuyu and Haruka, but take that with a grain of salt. It’s just a thing I noticed after finally getting around to reading some of Haruka’s event stories.
I think about characters other than Mafuyu, I promise. This is just a coincidence. Really.
So yeah. Bye.

ROUND 4C, MATCH 2 OUT OF 2!
Propaganda Under the Cut:
Jade Harley:
She has narcolepsy due to some meddling from another character, but it's narcolepsy nonetheless. She spends a lot of time sleeping, but that does hold her back as she's able to get a lot done on Prospit (a sort of dream world). She cares a lot about her friends and has a lot of interests like nuclear physics, cartoons, her dog, and being a markswoman.
She loves sleeping and dreaming!
She's got narcolepsy (....kinda, it's complicated) so for most of her initial appearances that girlie is just off in sleepy town, absolute snoozeville. Also I have great respect for her ability to look so comfy while sleeping in objectively uncomfy places, like a greenhouse floor
The original sleepy girl. so very sleepy. you agree
sometimes the world just needs a sleepy whimsical puppy girl. that's how it is
she falls asleep at random moments, and she has a robot that acts out her dreams for her so she doesn't sleepwalk and potentially get hurt, but the effect of this is her online friends aren't always sure when chatting with her whether she's awake or asleep. they don't tend to realize they're talking to dreambot jade until she says something completely bizarre and nonsensical, but then sometimes she says strange and silly things while awake because she's a very silly girl (/positive) and trying to parse whether a thing she said is just her being silly vs her being asleep can be difficult. also she sometimes has visions of real events happening somewhere or some*when* else in her sleep.
Luka:
She always sleeping. She sleeps standing up, she sleeps in the middle of a conversation. All she knows is sleep.
Theres 6 different Lukas in this game but specifically wonderlands sekai Lukas entire thing is that she's always sleeping and is very sleepy in general :) another thing about her character connected to the sleeping thing is that she's only awake if someone is upset, and falls back asleep if everyone is smiling which i think is really cute. she's very silly and also very pretty imo
her ram horns look like shrimps, she's pink, she uses her friends' laps as pillows, also she's luka
this isn't propaganda but i wanna clarify there are several different megurine lukas in this game and also she's a vocaloid so be sure you use a picture of the wonderland sekai version (she's the sleepy one, you'll know her when you see her)

Mirage of Light, Episode 3
Mafuyu finds Mizuki in SEKAI, playing dress-up with Rin. Rin tells Mafuyu that Mizuki comes to SEKAI often, and Mizuki actually opens up to Mafuyu about why and the way she really feels.
Miku and Rin will occasionally mention Mizuki trying to play with them, and Mizuki will occasionally mention little things she wants to show to them. Mizuki has an alibi for this question, and she has ran with far less before.
She confides in Mafuyu here, but the question becomes why. Kanade respects that Mizuki doesn't want people to pry into her emotions or problems, and Mizuki's been working overtime keeping Ena in the dark that she even has any, so why wouldn't she try to deceive Mafuyu?
There are a few potential reasons.
Mizuki's loneliness is hurting her so much that she couldn't take hiding it from everybody and caves when it's Mafuyu alone. This would be another case of Mizuki's true feelings, that she wants lifelong friends, undermining her attempts out of fear to stay distant.
Mizuki feels connected to Mafuyu and thinks Mafuyu could understand if she told her. In Mizuki: A Moment of Jest; Part 2, Mizuki summarizes the ways she relates to and understands Mafuyu, reasons persistent throughout the Main Story as well.
Mizuki suspects Mafuyu already knows; Empty SEKAI is a manifestation of Mafuyu's feelings, and Meiko, a living part of that world, sees right through Mizuki and knows exactly what she's doing to herself and why.
Mizuki worries that if she gave an evasive answer, Rin would give a true one and expose her.
Masking in front of Mafuyu might take away the comfort that she initially came to SEKAI that day for, and her options became leave abruptly when Mafuyu's been struggling with troubling emotions she doesn't understand yet, or confide in her.
Mizuki was moved that Mafuyu seems to want SEKAI to be a safe place for her and gave her permission to stay.
Whatever the reason, this is also when we the readers learn that Mizuki doesn't just come to SEKAI for fun or to play with the Virtual Singers. She comes here when she's feeling down, which Rin says is quite often.
It isn't that Mizuki simply has nobody to confide in, but that Mizuki is convinced that her life is a path she has to walk without lifelong friends, that everyone but herself will reject her. This was the theme of her internal conflict in Secret Distance. Even if she is intent on keeping Ena, Kanade, and Mafuyu in the dark about her secret and by extension about her pain and her vulnerability, Mizuki still has people in her life who do know her secret and who are kind to her. She has her older sister Yuuki who lives overseas, she has An who's friendly to all her classmates but readily accepts Mizuki, and she has Rui, who Mizuki used to be really close to in middle school.
After Mizuki helps Mafuyu to reach the breakthrough that Mafuyu used to genuinely be happy but that the joy became a mask at some point, Mafuyu leaves and Rin asks Mizuki how she figured it out. In Mizuki's reply, we catch a glimpse of what ever happened between her and Rui.
There simply isn't anyone else Mizuki can be talking about. In Secret Distance, we saw flashbacks to her in middle school, back before she transitioned, and we saw her reject everyone around her, her reflecting that there's no point in trying to make friends. In Kamiyama High Festival, we see more of how pre-transition Mizuki pushes everyone away and how much Rui had to fight not to be just another one. In that same event story, we also see that Rui succeeded in giving Mizuki a friend; Mizuki started coming to the rooftop on her own to see him and they bonded over being loners.
Here, we learn why it seemed like Mizuki and Rui's friendship took a break at some point. Their reunion in Kamiyama High Festival Episode 6 felt estranged, like they hadn't spoken in a long time, and earlier when she spotted Rui having fun in rehearsal, Mizuki didn't feel like she could say hi despite feeling moved by seeing Rui happy.
Rui hides his own sadness behind a mask, and Mizuki reflects here that she alienated him by refusing to let him do so. In fact, we caught a hint of this in Kamiyama High Festival Episode 7, where Mizuki says Rui following his passion is the reason people leave him behind. He bounced back from it, but that event story and the flashbacks in Secret Distant both highlight that pre-transition Mizuki was a bitter and cold person.

looking for project sekai analysis blogs I like and asking their opinion on shizuku day thrEE. please yap as hard as you can about her, I love her so much
about to make you regret being born /j
i adore shizuku so much and there is such an abundance of things i could say about her that i don't think i can actually fit everything into one post because i will inevitably forget a point and likely have to tack it on later. and also, if it's not obvious from my entire blog, i'm an airi oshi, and so a lot of my thoughts and opinions regarding shizuku will tend to be through the lens of airi. they're intrinsically connected as characters because of their stories, what they mean to each other, and their aibou dynamic (though it's not explicit; just look at how much they parallel with akitoya and it'll become really clear really fast) makes it very hard to talk about shizuku without also talking about airi. especially in a "general consensus" kind of post. i will try to keep it at a minimum, since shizuku is her own independent character, but her dynamic with airi and her existence as a pure heart student makes it really difficult to discuss shizuku's story and growth without talking about how the people around her interact with and influence her story.
shizuku, as a pure heart student, falls into the domain of "suffering from perfection", though the way this happens leans much closer to cautious heart's thrust into an environment and expections they weren't prepared for than the rest of pure heart displays this (there's a really interesting conversation to be had about how more more jump! reverses the methods for which each member is confronted with their respective conflict when compared to the parallel mikudemy classmate of the other four units, but that's a topic for an entirely different post), but her approach to the problem and how she goes about solving and growing from it is quintessential pure heart, to the point that i think shizuku represents the central themes of the class far better than anyone else. she was convinced to become an idol by her friends by participating in and winning the grand prix, was recruited into one of the biggest and most popular idol groups of cheerful*days, and eventually became their centre when she was offered the role despite feeling like she was unworthy of it. shizuku's never thought particularly highly of her abilities as an idol, certainly not to the degree that everyone around her praises her for, and for several years was simply trying to live up to the unrealistic and impossible expectations set by the cheerful*days management, caused by her innate beauty, graceful demeanour, and naturally potent idol aura. it's a fascinating mix of cautious heart themes (being forced to adapt to expectations you don't think you can meet) and pure heart themes (carrying a natural affinity for the goals and practice of the unit) that's really only shared by toya and haruka, and haruka performs this much differently as a cautious heart student, while toya's is a learned affinity (akin to cautious heart) carrying over from a different genre of music. shizuku is entirely innate talent that was carefully shaped into her cheerful*days image. yes, she works incredibly hard to match that image, but what makes her so appealing as an idol at the first glance are the pieces that can't be changed.
shizuku's relationship with these expectations and the people who put them on her is a major part of what makes her a pure heart student. a huge part of the theme of pure heart is a lack of resentment toward the people that put them in these difficult environments (ichika not being upset with shiho or honami even though it was their choices that separated the dynamic; emu never holding anything against her brothers for not taking her seriously as she tries to help run phoenix wonderland; toya believing it his fault for not living up to his father's expectations because he set the standard that he will work hard enough to do it) (i would mention kanade but there's no one specific to blame for her father's hospitalisation and her mother's passing and she blames herself for it all anyway), and shizuku carries this in abundance across her entire story through her lack of disdain for cheerful*days—she's not especially comfortable around them initially, but that's nothing against them, that's believing herself in the wrong and wanting to avoid bringing back up their pain. something directly brought up and confronted through At the End of the Unraveled Thread, which is quite possibly the most nuanced event (and one of the most well-written) in the entire game. because unlike the rest of pure heart (even toya; he holds his running away over his own head, but he didn't actually doing anything wrong for wanting and seeking out the "normal childhood" he yearned for), shizuku did do something wrong to prompt what happened to her. she did wrong cheerful*days by admitting to her belief that she doesn't deserve the role of centre despite everyone's work to make sure she can perform it, because by doing so she made the rest of the group feel that she didn't appreciate or respect the work they put in to her success. cheerful*days was by no means right to turn around and bully shizuku to the point of quitting the industry (even if minori and more more jump! pulled her right back in), and the frustrations of the rest of more more jump! (most clearly seen through airi's mood shift anytime cheerful*days is brought up) are entirely justified, but shizuku recognises that she hurt people who were trying to help her, and works to make it right through public acknowledgement and holding herself accountable during At the End of the Unraveled Thread without expecting them to immediately forgive her, which they (arisa) don't.
shizuku's ability to express and understand emotions, her own and others, can't be understated; just another reason why she fits with pure heart. she starts in a very difficult position in that regard, specifically when it comes to communicating with her fans—shizuku is able to clearly communicate with the other more more jump! members and other friends of hers from basically the very start—due to the expectations of her cheerful*days era still looming over her head and those that followed her before the swap to the new group expecting that same character, a person shizuku is not and really struggles to perform as when off-script, something more more jump! always is during their streams. thus the conflict of Colour of Myself! and the start of shizuku's journey of self-acceptance, because it does not end with that event; that is simply the first and biggest of several steps she takes throughout her entire story. so much of shizuku's journey is acts of defying the idol she was made to be by cheerful*days, using what that experience taught her to become a better idol in ways only she could be and she would be best at. her famous air-headed demeanour is unique to her, and Colour of Myself! teaches her to no longer hide it like she had done during her time as cheerful*days' centre, while events like Cast a Spell on You!, Draw Your Bow in This White World, and The Warmth that Guides Us work to refine shizuku's nature into skills that she can use as an idol and a friend to reach out to and help the people around her. they prove that she's not air-headed, instead she's incredibly perceptive of the world around her, what makes her seem such is that her attention always lies in the emotions of the people she's with, rather than what they might consider to be normal. many of those around her are far more protective of their thoughts and emotions, while shizuku expresses all of it freely, growing moreso with each step she takes towards her own acceptance.
all of these subjects, as mentioned before, ties directly into shizuku's relationships with the people around her, most prominently more more jump!'s members and even more importantly: airi. because, even ignoring shipping contexts, the impact they have on each other's stories is impossibly important and shizuku, by her own admition, would never have become the type of idol capable of doing what she did in Colour of Myself! or At the End of the Unraveled Thread without airi's support and influence. from their very first meeting shown in the chapter seven flashback of Chasing the Radiance Beyond the Blue Sky where airi offered shizuku a towel and encouraged her to get back up and keep pushing, airi has been a vital piece of motivation for shizuku amidst her struggles with expectation and perfection during her growth in and peaks of cheerful*days. it's a huge reason why airi snapping at her about how unfair it is for shizuku to throw away everything she has when it's all airi ever wanted from her time as an idol during the main story is the action that throws her over the edge of deciding to quit the idol industry. because on top of all this understanding that she's hurt cheerful*days through her disrespect and disregarding of their contributions to her growth in the group, she had to grapple with the fact that by even considering quitting, she's hurting the most important person in her journey to success. she hurt the support she always had in her corner, no matter what happened on either side of their idol journeys.
the importance airi and shizuku have to each other's journeys, the way airi always lifted shizuku up to her feet if something was weighing down on her and shizuku was always a figure that airi was able to chase in her pursuit of being her ideal idol, is written a lot like the aibou dynamic of akitoya, just in a different environment. a less aggressively competitive world that works its hardest to put down whatever it considers competition, instead filled with exploitation of skills and dreams in ways that push the idols to the brink of quitting—as evident by the positions all three of haruka, airi, and shizuku are in at the start of the more more jump! main story. airi and shizuku manage to survive as long as they do because of each other, the idea of having someone by their side who will understand the struggle and lift them up when they get knocked down, a figure that they can look up to as an example of what an idol should be and is capable of. they look up to each other as idols to aspire to be, and have consistently been present in each other's journeys from the first moments of being recruited by their respective idol group as someone they can lean on when things get too difficult to bear alone. it's a back-and-forth dynamic that both side often forgets their own role in because they consider the other's contribution to their success as idols and growth as people so invaluable that they struggle to imagine themselves doing the same for anyone else.
this dynamic with airi also reflects into shizuku's relationship with shiho, just to a degree much less looked at by the story's writing. as expressed through The Two Moon Rabbits, both hinomori looks at the other's dreams and ambitions, at the effort they put into achieving them, and uses it as a method of motivation to push forward through their own journey and struggle. the passion and dedication with which shiho learned the bass and refined their skills with it for the sake of eventually playing in a band told shizuku that she shouldn't give up on her own goals of her idol work just because it's taxing on her body and exhausting to learn, and the opposite is true with shiho watching how much shizuku repeats the same choreography in order to ensure that each step is done perfectly and consistently and using that to tell themself it'll eventually bare fruit if they continue to practice and learn. they both take the tasks they're given and tackle them with complete sincerity, even if shizuku rarely looks anywhere near as serious as shiho tends to, and end up at a similar result of being regarded as especially talented in their respective fields and actively looked up to by the other members of their groups as someone to aspire to be like (obviously moreso airi than anyone else on shizuku's side).
i find shizuku to be an incredible example of what a pure heart character represents, with the focus of almost all of her events being the very traits that define and connect the class. she's an invaluable member of more more jump! through her ability to grasp and express the complex feelings of the unit at large in clear ways that most of those around her struggle to get across, and her ability to pick up on the intentions and internal conflicts of those around her is almost unmatched (she's managed to identify that something is bothering mafuyu through Draw Your Bow in This White World and managed to find a way to comfort her enough to prompt an unmasked smile, all without being prompted to do so by anything but her own observations). she's especially skilled at reading and understanding airi, who, as a solid heart student, would otherwise keep her problems largely internalised and attempt to confront them separate from the rest of the unit, even if she knows she needs their help. shizuku doesn't allow her to do this, constantly finding ways to step in and prevent airi from pulling away. something so consistent that it leads to airi, on her own terms, going into the sekai to tell shizuku and the virtual singers about her conflicting feelings on the whole group going to credit hours because it made her lose contact with a close friend (Re-tie Friendship). and the unique nuance of her relationship with cheerful*days made for, in my opinion, one of the best-written events in the entire game in At the End of the Unraveled Thread.
love shizuku. five stars. she should get to kiss airi as a treat. she's earned it because she's such a wonderful person. i'm sure airi won't mind. much. for more than a second.

Random assortment of season 6 part 2 thoughts:
To repost my own edit
I had issues with certain things of course — WHICH I WILL GET INTO — however, I think a lot of the emotional, interpersonal relationship dynamics, because the cast was just less cluttered at a time with a specific event happening, worked better in having conflict and resolution than in part 1
OKAYYYY SO maybe this is recency bias in play, but I feel like this part was OVERALL less frustrating and enraging for me than part 1?
First off: what the fuck was up with the lighting decisions
The good things: like I said, as frustrating it could have been, most of the interpersonal conflicts felt like they came from realistic and understandable issues arising in each character. I commend the maturity Sam, Devon, etc. reacted when Tory came back to Cobra Kai in particular — but even if it raised tension, the aggression between Miguel and Robby, Anthony and Kenny, the Binary Bros and Kenny, etc., didn't feel half-assed and made for conflict for the sake of conflict
I can't say the same for Daniel and Johnny :/ but they get the fucking short end of the stick, big surprise. Divorced energies awf the CHARTS 💯💯💯
They're still fighting over who's the most right or wrong when THEIR KIDS ARE IN THE TRENCHES BECAUSE THEY NEED A FUCKING STRATEGY
I will never Not complain about Johnny and Daniel respectively being karate dads to their kiddos though. Idiot jackasses who fight all the time they are, they're so cute when they're giving guidance :')
And they were ROOMMATES
My indifference and complaints of the Sekai Taikai aside, part 2 ending in an all-out international karate war is nothing short of what I expected from the show. I do have to commend the tremendous amount of choreography and energy pulsing through the fight, without it losing its momentum
Oh and the other competitors were there too
RIP Kwon. You never slayed harder than when you killed yourself
Kreese (SCREAMING). Silver (SCREAMINGGGGGGG). Dennis (hey buddy welcome back :D)
RIP Snake
I WAS MOMENTARILY RIGHT ABOUT MIYAGI-DO 3RD PLACE AND COBRA KAI 5TH HAHAHAHAHA
Anyways I'm sooooooooo angry about the recent developments of Mr. Miyagi you have no idea ❤️
To reiterate: I'm so unamused by this plot twist that Mr. Miyagi was involved in crime, murder(s), the Sekai Taikai, etc., because it's nakedly transparent that the only reason this new development had existed is so that the writers could connect their show to one of the few characters whose writing is strictly stuck in the 80s: Mr. Miyagi. Pat Morita can't return to play his character again, so the writers aren't able to portray Mr. Miyagi according to how they see fit — UNLESS they change his character, film flashbacks, and/or reveal information that isn't shared through the character directly. And with what we've GOTTEN already of Mr. Miyagi's character (escaped his village so he wouldn't have to battle to the death his friend, sent into an internment camp with his new family, partook in war (either willingly or drafted), lost his family, considered an outsider still in his community, etc.), what does this Secret Dark Past of Mr. Miyagi really show that's any different, or even as resonant, as what we've gotten? Besides connecting Mr. Miyagi's backstory to something the new show invented. And that's my problem
Carmen being regulated to mildly supportive mom/love interest for one episode 💔 love to see her for five minutes before being put back into storage alongside Rosa
I'm gonna complain about Kumiko, Kim, and Chozen. Why.
OKAY. IT WAS ALREADY ANNOYING THAT WE HADN'T SEEN KUMIKO SINCE SEASON 3, AND YET THERE WAS ALL THIS TALK ABOUT HOW CHOZEN WAS SUPPOSEDLY IN LOVE WITH HER. BUT SHE'S STILL A NONCHARACTER TALKED AROUND, BUT NEVER TOO??? IT'S LIKE COBRA KAI DECIDED THEY DON'T HAVE TO CARE ABOUT WOMEN IF THEY NEVER SHOW THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE. WE JUST GET NOTHING ON KUMIKO'S SIDE OF THIS???? KUMIKO???? FUCK OFF
AND FOR THAT MATTER, Kim and Chozen having hatesex was mildly aggravating but whatever. Okay fine. Pair the spares. Regulate Sensei Kim's character to either FOR MY (GRAND)FATHER/HONOR, abusive Tiger Mom, or Love Interest of Chozen. Fucking whatever.
Someone else had already made this point before, but as terrible as Sensei Wolf's physical abuse is, it is a little funny seeing how it's treated with so much gravitas, when Johnny is Still throwing glass bottles at the kids, having a history of disregard for safety, etc etc.
In a similar vein of discussion, we don't have to worry about this same thing happening to Chozen's alcohol issues! Because it's being treated with the same seriousness as Johnny's alcohol issues 🙃
I most definitely had other thoughts, buuut those are what I can remember at the time ahdajfjsjks. Overall, when it was good it was good, and when it was bad it was AGGRAVATING TO MY VERY CORE. See you all for part 3 😮💨

WHY I’M BATSHIT TERRIFIED FOR VBS, WXS AND NIIGO’S REDESIGN: HOW THEIR COSTUMES PLAY AN IMPORTANT PART IN THEIR RESPECTIVE GROUPS!!
Vivid Bad Squad:
Vivid Bad Squad are street performers and this plays a role in how their costumes work. Their costumes are their outing clothes. Like i’m pretty sure it’s the clothes they wear when they go out and all that stuff (i could be wrong but that’s what i’ve seen so far). It fits because they’re street performers. They don’t need to have some grand costume AND ESPECIALLY NOT MATCHING!! Yes, they are a unit but those are their outing clothes! You don’t match with your group of friends every time you go out. Of course, you can and that’s perfectly fine but it takes away from the entire group’s trope (?? I dunno if that’s the right word) which are street performers. People who you just see singing in clubs, cafes, the street, etc. They don’t need to be matching, they don’t need to wear grand outfits because they’re street performers. They don’t need to change into their outfits unlike MMJ who are idols and L/N whose entire sekai and aesthetic focuses on school (the same is said for MMJ whose Sekai revolves around being on stage). Their Sekai is centered around Vivid Street and you don’t typically see street performers having matching outfits on street. They don’t really follow a certain theme, they sing in their own clothes. They have no reason to change. Hopefully, if my points even made sense, that the vbs outfits will also be their outing outfits. Also hopefully they still keep the aesthetic of the original outfits cause it really fits the vibe of vivid street.
Wonderland x Showtime:
Their unique costumes serve as their costumes. On the Wonder Stage, they’re acting, they’re preparing for a show, it’s similar to how one doesn’t wear the same clothes when they rehearse and when they do a production. The uniqueness of each character’s costumes is important not only because of their unique and bizarre personalities but because in stage, you can’t have a matching outfit with another person. It, of course, can follow a theme of what to wear (pajamas or other stuff i’m forgetting) but it really has to be different or differ in some way. Take the Heathers in the musical for example. Their outfits look similar but still have something standing out. Their shirts, skirts, the design and colors differ! WxS had perfect costumes, not only because it differed from the other members’ costumes but because it’s just so bright and colorful! The exact type of neon and eye catching colors that you would see in a theme park! Adding on to the connection to sekai, Wonderland Sekai is filled with bright colors! It’s wacky and silly! WXS MIKU HERSELF LOOKS LIKE A THEME PARK MASCOT!! Their costumes are over the top because some plays are silly! Especially plays with the intent of making people smile!! This group centers around making people smile! Their wackiness as theater performers has meaning! Especially since their expounding their horizons they gotta keep the uniqueness and variety!! Also please still make wxs! Miku goofy 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Nightcord at 25:00:
Nightcord has a similar theme to them that being dark colors. Notice how they’re pretty much wearing school attire or resembling school attire. It makes sense. They’re a group that haven’t met each other in real life. They go to school (in Mafuyu’s case i guess?) and then go on Nightcord. Unlike Vbs, they don’t wear their outing clothes since they have never met nor have they worked outside of Nightcord and unlike wxs, they don’t need to go with major costumes that make them unique (the dull colors tie in with the empty Sekai too). While they do kind of have matching attires, i’m more worried if they’ll keep the dark and dull colors. Like i’ve said before, the dull colors reflect with the empty sekai. So it’d be better if their prominent colors are very briefly seen in their new designs. The problem with MMJ being like this is because A) Idols typically still identify and define themselves as a certain color (take the love live franchise for example) and B) for Nightcord’s case, the majority of black in their outfits really tie into empty sekai. Perhaps, less black could benefit in the story they’re telling (Mafuyu’s mask crumbling), maybe a sort of dark grey would do. But Nightcord is still dealing with the problems and struggles of what each of them had went through. That tying in with the aesthetic of the empty sekai really amplifies the feeling of darkness or dullness.
These are just my opinions! Obviously i could be exaggerating or reading too into this but I promise I am not complaining! I feel like new outfits are cool ideas and signify the new beginnings of each group. It’s just that with after the MMJ, i’m quite hesitant on how they’ll go about with the rest of the units…

can you talk about wolf au. I'm like an ipad baby and PRSK AUs are how i stay occupied
Oh you don't know how that ask delights me!
It's gonna be a long dump (cuz I've been brainroting for a while) so all that stuffs under the cut
So the prsk Wolf au, was this lil stray idea I had around the time when the werewolf shiho card came out. Basically what if I write a fic in german to improve my german and use the german fairytale inspired set as a base. The original plan was to write a semi long polyneed/shihosaki fic, but that turned into me only writing about the world building and culture, which turned into me writing smaller sidestories to get back into the mood, what turned into... must be around 20k Mizuena slowburn. (but I still haven't managed posting anything aside from some art :P)
I will genuinely try my best to formulate anything coherent, because I am a scatterbrain who suffers under "has to mention small details lest they burst" disease.
Anyways the setting of the au is in the medivelesque city Diva in a country called Sekai. Sekai is a small to medium sized country, around the size of Bayern (the biggest German state) and is under the rule of the Ootori royal family. Next to them four other families rule over parts of Sekai, the Asahinas, the Hinomoris, the Tenmas and the Shinonomes, who all currently reside in Diva.
For each I have selected some symbols which appear in ornaments and patterns.
The Ootori naturally have the phoenix as a coat of arms, they're tbh the only family I haven't properly fleshed out, but they united Sekai (it previously was several smaller countries at war) and at one point almost seperated Sekai, yet that's all I managed.
The Asahinas are a more interesting bunch. Coat of arms and Ornament vise they mainly have symetric rootlike meandering purple patterns, with occasional snowflake-shapes, mostly to potray how the family is connected and interwoven in Sekais politics and how they uphold order. (Their territory is also more Renaissance esque for that reason) They are a family of perfection, which delights most and creeps out some.
The Hinomoris coat of arms is a white Hare looking at the moon. They also have a more forest animal theming, since they control most of the forestry and hunting. (architecturally they have more of a gothic architecture, but only for the nobles and the church (oh the church wai wai)) They're next to a massive forest which I oh so love thinking about. They are a old family next to old trees and in possession of an old church in need of restoration.
The Tenmas coat of arms is obviously the Pegasus (more of a alicorn, but psshhh Tsukasa said it's a Pegasus and his word is law). They have a rich mythological beasts theming, since they're from a long bloodline of dragonslayers etc. They're also paired with Lions, for example one of their cities outside of Diva's called Leo. They're somewhat the spirit of Sekai and enjoy allot of goodwill from the people. (They have a more romanesque building style)
The Shinonomes coat of arms are two Wolfs standing next to a color palette and chisel. Their theming is more prominent in their social standing as respected artist, but rotten family. Their wolves with turned heads, but still wolves. They don't own much land and only work in the arts, closed off in a giant building.
The church shows it's leoneed influences. First Miku is the main deity, the god who creates with song and put the world in harmonious order, which is the geocentric worldview (which I have thought about too much, like man alchemist sure as fuck loved they're geocentricm) besides her, the other cryptonloids are gods aswell. The religion is more music oriented, most prominent in the festivals each month (which I wish to elaborate on, but I can't make this dump that long)
The interesting part of the beliefs is what the heavenly order deems as good and bad, since those are the main sources of conflict here.
Because next to humanity and the gods are the others (die Anderen) a generalized group of those who are not part of the divine order. Those can be simply animals like Ravens, bats, wolves and cats, but also mythical beings like fae, fairies, elves etc.
The normal attitude towards them is neutral, stay away, don't call lest they answer and so on.
All fine and dandy, but the country has been hit by a wave of werewolves gone mad because of a bloodmoon (mythologically speaking, the wolf in the sky (inspired by norse mythology) bit the moon coating it in blood and declaring hunting season) muddying the already blurry borders between human and other.
That attack caused hate and unease to spread around, folks are willing to purge anything other to strengthen the borders between normal and abnormal, healthy and sick, good and bad...
Anyways all the blorbos are other in some way shape or form.
Starting from the ones who are other before the bloodmoon:
Shizuku and Airi:
So Shizuku is the future heir of the Hinomori family (becoming heir after her father dies a bit before the bloodmoon), but she's a bit of a clutz, a bit of an airhead even, so there's some obvious struggle there.
Well she once went into the forest in one restless night and attracted Airis attention. Airi is a Fairy who's also lord of the forest, the same the Hinomoris claim as their territory. Because of that Airi snuck into Shizukus house, hidden as a maid to test if she's worthy to be the "representative" of her forest. (she's just gay)
I have written a bit about their relationship at that time before the bloodmoon, exploring Airis conflicted feelings about where her feelings towards Shizuku belong. Typical "You can't love me! You're a girl and I'm a worm!" plot, mixed with the themes of wildness (symbolized by a lynx) and domestication (a dog). After the blood Moon Airi works with Shizuku, who kinda sorta is about to start a civil war...
Anyways Minoharu:
Haruka is a travelling hunter, who hunts down monsters and other beasts. Minori is a gay nature spirit....like...yk? I also considered writing about their relationship before the bloodmoon, trying to find the idol vibes in it. Atm it appears to be that Haruka hunts down the most unruly creatures thus garnering the admiration of the people and the others.
For most of the time the gratitude of the others would be expressed by odd gifts, like feathers, nuts, pebbles and flowers, for Haruka can't see them. Minorin (the gayass) has been following her for a while, occasionally aiding in Harukas hunts and gifting her stuff like the rest. At some point Haruka noticed her and they kinda sorta got to be partners (sorry didn't manage much development on that yet) After the bloodmoon Haruka got commissioned by the king to kill off the stray werewolves, that's when they started working with Shizuai.
Then Rui and Nene:
Rui is human born with hagstone eyes (dual colored eyes the center is a different color etc) he can see the others. Therefore he got ostracized, because of his weird behavior. Being a exentric doesn't help, so when he found a trapped Siren (Nene, who got kidnapped from her homeland and now chills with Rui), he decided to just... hermit it up, goes full on mad alchemist (raaah). His presence before the bloodmoon is during the Mizuena prebloodmoon plot. There he functions as Mizukis strange friend who asked them to transport riddled letters to An.
An here is a affiliate to Rui, ex knight and of a lesser known nobel family, she and Kohane are the owners of a tavern. Ans task is keeping check on Rui and smoothing relations between the town and the others.
Mizuena:
Mizuki is a changeling chased out of their village after their family found out that they infact weren't their son. They wound up hanging out with Rui for a while, since they have a similar stance of being an unwelcome mix of other and human. On their journey to Diva they met Ena in a small town far from the city (she ran from her family for art reasons) Ena joined them in their journey, finding comfort in their relationship, since Mizuki doesn't treat her as part of "his" family. They bond together, Mizuki assists her in her impulsive new goal of becoming a knight, they have the classic Mizuena runaway story and wham. Gaē
I have written a lot about that in a fic (might finally manage posting the first chapter sometime, still it's in german soo...) focusing on falling out of humanity, searching a future etc. swell stuff to ponder about, but ngl I fear Ena got a bit too ooc
Kanamafu:
So...Kanade's dead...she died...womp womp. Aight lemme explain. Mafuyus presence before the bloodmoon is just being the friendly neighborhood knight, until she ends up standing in ominous mist, talking in a monotone hollow voice how people are cursed, or damning themselves. She has the same eyes as Rui, can see the other, but she's a Asahina, so that can't be, no good girl stares at the corner for hours tsk tsk. Welp that leads to some mental damage, seeing the tortured ghosts of the past, but pretending that everything is fine, mixed with the already present Mafu...trauma, yeagh not fun. Anyways one night Mafuyu heard a haunting song and finds out it's Kanades restless ghost, who cursed herself with the duty of singing prayers to save folks...so they ended up being besties :3
Now! To the after bloodmoon stuff:
So around the time before the bloodmoon, like around one/two months, Saki left the country to get some better help for her illness. While that happens the horrendous bloodbath occurred and Shiho (who was a knight atm) got bit by a Werewolf and spread the curse on Ichika and Hona before running off into the forest. Yay.
Since Shiho only was freshly turned Ichika and Hona got about...wowza two years until the curse takes hold on them. Naturally the panicked people aren't fond of two (there were more but...those didn't make it) future werewolves in their mids, but here comes Shizuku with a steel chair.
The Hinomoris are next to the Asahinas one of the most powerful families in Sekai (excluding the Ootoris) ,so Shizuku, the new head of the family, threathens a civil war if the city harms any people injured by the attacks. She got some backing, since the family helped out a lot of the people affected by the attack. This in mind they came to a conclusion that the cursed will live under their watch until they turn and welp...get executed.
Nice and dandy, back to Saki out of country.
Girl has no clue and will not have any clue for a while.
Her entire friendgroup affected by the perils, Tsukasa and Ichika came to the conclusion to not tell her the entire thing.
So after she returned, still stuck in a room with fabeled beasts painted on her walls, she listens to Ichikas monthly lies. It's all she has.
Until Ichika acts weird, Tsukasa kicks her out, leading to a debate between the Tenmas, where Saki hears the truth and runs away into the forest like Shiho.
There the plot scatteres.
So Ichika? she was under the surveillance of a troop of knights...to be precise niigo. Officially Ena and to balance it out Mafuyu, but Mizuki and Kanade are their plus ones. They have a sorta neat relationship, especially Ichimizu, which I really need to explore more. That aside, Ichika is about to go full wolf and niigo is in crisis mode. Mafuyu is of the opinion to kill her before Ichika reveals their secret. Ena is full, no...no we shouldn't?? unwilling to follow some orders and kill a bro. Mizuki and Kanade are the middle ground, going, hey so killing Ichika is bad actually, but if we let her run away, Ena will be blamed and might even get killed in her place.
They come to a conclusion that they have to surrender Ichika, but find Saki for her, who's disappearance was announced by a very concerned Tsukasa rushing through the streets.
On Honamis side, she already got put in a cell for being a bit too dubious at the monastery. She managed gathering some tolerance, by cutting of contact with Ichika and going full people pleaser, but one bad day and schwomp jail.
One day Emu just spawns in the jail, since a kind friend of her wound up getting put behind bars. Through the conversation Honami gathers that Saki vanishes and admits her concern, motivating Emu to go on a search for her.
And Kasa? his character is a fun one ngl. Tsukasa in this au is enamored by the heroic legends of his forefathers. He has a bit of a self-absorbed vibe for most of the time, but after Saki left he had to face the reality of his beloved fairytales.
So emu contacts him and leads him to her odd friends in the odd forest, Rui and Nene. So that forms the wxs Saki search party.
Aight now where's Saki?
In a gay cottage.
Yk Shiho running off into the forest? Yeagh she got caught by Shizuku. She and Airi put the Shiwolf into time out in the hidden Hinomori hut (hidden by Airi, for I love myself some twisting reality and creating hidden spaces :3. Rui does that as well)
Haruka and Minori who got commissioned to hunt down wolves like Shiho almost found her, but Shizuku managed convincing them otherwise, so they now hang out with Shiho.
How Saki ended up there? Shiho found her collapsed in the snow and idk man unnecessary feelings aside, she wouldn't let anyone die in the snow, let alone Saki.
So she brought her to Minoharu to care for and just hides in the sidelines to maintain distance.
The entire gay cottage part is just slowburn Shihosaki (at least that's what my notes say) and Saki getting the mobility aid she deserves.
Back to niigo, Mizuki managed getting close to finding where Saki may be, but got caught by Airi. Now Niigo has a new sidehussel, overthrowing the government (more precisely the Asahinas).
Luckily, since Ichika is...in prison, Mafuyu has to go back home, so Mizuki can follow her there and snoop around.
From that point things stop being concrete
Around some time, Wxs managed to find Saki, but now they have to figure out how to yk...not let the rest of leoneed get publicly executed.
And well there's a struggle, since even if they save Ichihona, they still have to completely convince a paranoid country, that the others are actually swag and maybe they should hold hands and make out with them.
Either that or run away, something that niigo suggests.
I still didn't manage to find out what is the best solution....
Aight so this is my...~2k long ramble about the Wolf au, only leaving out, traditions, the other vocaloids, myths, interesting motives, changing seasons, further political affairs, horses, different povs, my attempts in using the german language in a interesting manner and...Akitoya.
Idk if that dump is coherent, might make a more coherent one in my prsk account (to shill said account @sleep-deprived-luka )
#Wolf admittedly is my biggest au only being challenged by Wings of Fire au#It's essentially a fantasy au with german sub and my selfindulgent flairs but its my fantasy au with german sub and shameless selfindulgenc#anyways hope this is entertaining#ask#rambles#project sekai

(Summary) BATTLE OF TOKYO emergency broadcast for Jr.EXILE vs NEO EXILE [PART 1]
Features: ZIN, SEKAI, Yamasho, Kodai, Kensuke, Yuhi, Ryoji BOT writers team: Hiranuma Norihisa (Nori) and Sato Dai
This summary will focus more on the story and lore of BOT series that they're discussing.
※TL note: In his introduction, Nori said, "if you know me, you know." so I thought I should mention that Nori is the main scriptwriter as well as director for High&Low series.
This is also why I have high hopes for BOT story, as a fan of Highlow myself.
-------------------------
Point 1: Why are the teams "fighting"
Kensuke: It's the foreordained destiny of Neo Exile. Neo Exile and Jr Exile are fated to go against each other and are connected by the red string of fate.
Nori: Um, not in the least. Will be explained later.
Point 2: What are the teams fighting for?
Yuhi: The Final Facts!
ZIN: Correct!
What are the [Final Facts]?
- In Super Tokyo, a copying technology exists that enables them to multiply anything and everything as long as they have the data. - Except for, the Final Facts - These are rare treasures that cannot be copied or destroyed. - In the story, teams clash each other either to steal or recover the Final Facts - Final Facts that have been revealed: 1. Book of Chaos (Zero - Mad Jesters, Tekuu - Astro9) 2. Mirror (Itaru - Astro9) 3. Black Diamond (Sherrock - Mad Jesters) 4. Sword (Inui - Blue Shield) 5. Eternal Record (Claude - Jiggy Boyz)
Point 3: What of Blue Shield's boss, Inui
ZIN: In the ending on Vol 5, they were able to defeat Inui and got hold of the [Sword] however it was at the expense of Sherrock's life.
After collecting all the 5 Final Facts and uncovering the truth he has been seeking, Sherrock vanished.
Point 4: What happens after Sherrock's disappearance (the ending of Vol. 5)?
Nori: To create a new story that continues after that conclusion, what we needed were iPhones.
Nori: iPhone 8 that I used to have and the current iPhone series are completely different. They've not only upgraded, but the object itself has been upscale.
Nori: This is what Super Tokyo needed as well. Super Tokyo required an [Expansion]. Which is what the members and fans as well, are personally experiencing right now, that is...
Nori: The Super Tokyo Expansion Exhibition!
Point 5: What was the truth that MAD JESTERS have uncovered?
Sato: [Final Facts] are essentially [Keys]. Keys are used to open doors that leads to somewhere. And so, Sherrock, who has all the keys, have opened a door to [somewhere] and is waiting.
Sato: Where exactly is he waiting? In a simple term, he's in a multiverse that exists in the present, in the past, and in the future. It is a place that neither exist nor doesn't.
※ TL note: not simple at all. after this they took out the whiteboard and wrote a bunch of stuffs thats basically just them trying to make a story on why Gene isn't in this year's BOT and how NEO EXILE is suddenly thrown in the fray
They're basically reaching, but I respect the hustle.
And so, I will summarise the whiteboard in the next post after I regain some braincells 👍
#battle of tokyo#i love how everyone on my twitter tl were like “why are you guys adding quantum mechanics in LDH productions!!!”#“we used to just roll with needless gang fights and prince beauty contest!!!”#obviously i didnt retain any information tonight net zero knowledge homestly#so im gonna try again later after some sleep#bot txt

So Asuki (@sokai-asuki) did something suprising me. They (IDK the pronouns so I use general pronoun) made a Main Story of NEXO KNIGHTS X PROJECT SEKAI from the AU that I made! Though it's just the beginning. Use tag : #nexo knights x project sekai au (My tag) and/or #lego nexo knights x hatsune miku colorful stage (Asuki's tag)
Now I'm going to explain the world system of Knightonia (NEXO KNIGHTS Universe) <--> Sekai <--> Shibuya, Tokyo (PRSK Universe) and took some from Sokai-Asuki's story too. Some are canon but some I made it by myself to corelate to the story.
.
So first, what is PROJECT SEKAI? PROJECT SEKAI or full name is PROJECT SEKAI: COLORFUL STAGE! Feat Hatsune Miku or Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage! (JP: プロジェクトセカイ カラフルステージ! feat.初音ミク, HEPBURN: Purojekuto Sekai Karafuru Sutēji! fīcharingu Hatsune Miku), abbreviated to PJSK or Proseka, subtitled Brand New World from its 3rd anniversary, is a rhytm game developed by Colorful Palette, a studio of CyberAgent's Craft Egg, who also was involved in development before it shifted to Colorful Palette, and published by Sega Corporation. (Source : WIKIPEDIA)
Set in the real world where Virtual Singers only exist as fiction, the characters come across another world called "SEKAI," where various "true feelings" are projected. Here, there are 6 VOCALOIDS (Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin, Kagamine Len, Megurine Luka, KAITO, and MEIKO) along with 20 characters. There are some servers, but commonly used are Japanese Server (of JPSEKAI) and Global Server (ENSEKAI) that released around a year later from JPSEKAI.
.
Back to the topic, I read Sokai-Asuki's story and took conclusion how NEXO KNIGHTS can go to SEKAI (PRSK Universe), but to comprehend the Sekai Concept and the story, better read PRSK Main Story. You don't have to download the game, you can watch it on YT. (But if you want to play the game or an gacha addict, download it)
In gap between 5 SEKAI (or in JP, Sekai No Hazama) someone reside there -> She saw yellow dust from one of the SEKAI. As we know, yellow or golden in NK Universe always symbolized with magic power, so it means some magic make NEXO KNIGHTS able to access SEKAI.
I don't want to spoil the story, better read it by yourself. But the VOCALOIDS -- or in PRSK Universe they called VIRTUAL SINGERS reside in SEKAI according to one's feelings. The main one is Hatsune Miku. So Miku make a concept named 'UNTITLED' and gave it to respective SEKAI's residents to their phone by a folder. Press them and boom! You can go there!
.
So let's simplify it by corresponding it to PRSK Universe:
SEKAI created from ones' feelings -> VIRTUAL SINGERS reside there -> Hatsune Miku send message to the person by folder 'UNTITLED' -> 'UNTITLED' was sent to person's phone -> The person pressed folder 'UNTITLED' -> Lights make them transported to SEKAI
Understand? If don't then read PRSK Main Story then. Okay, continue. So, the concept of NEXO KNIGHTS to SEKAI was same, by pressing 'UNTITLED' on their phone. But why? Because of magic of course. That exist in a yellow dust and made some 'bug' that make things from different universe able to connect each other. If you can enter, how to exit? Just press that play button of 'UNTITLED' on the phone to pause it.
Okay, how to go to SEKAI, check. But how NEXO KNIGHTS members able to go to Shibuya, that was actually a PRSK Universe? The SEKAI acts as a location that connects to two universe -- Knighton and Shibuya. Press twice (or in PC, click on right mouse) to enter the alternate universe. (Yeah, I make this idea, like I want two parties to explore different universes and have experiences)
I simplify how to go to three realms:
1. Knighton <--> SEKAI and Shibuya, Tokyo <--> SEKAI
Press 'UNTITLED' folder that available on your phone. Press play button on the folder to exit SEKAI.
2. Knighton <--> Shibuya
Press twice of click on right mouse on 'UNTITLED' folder
Not only NEXO KNIGHTS members that able to go to Shibuya, the 20 characters of PRSK also can go to Knighton! (I want to make all of them extend the interactions like that)
.
The story how NEXO KNIGHTS able to access their SEKAI, I put faith to Asuki. (I believe in you) While which unit and SEKAI each NEXO KNIGHTS members enter are on my account (But you must have effort to scroll that, trust me, you'll see it)
But mainly, I'll handle this AU too, like interactions, facts, or maybe fanmade events?! I also will handle the NEXO KNIGHTS unit design clothes, either from the beginning or 3RD ANNIV -BRAND NEW WORLD- version. I've done Clay's but I will make the rest of the members.
So, yeah that's it and enjoy! I accept questions if you have something to be asked about this AU. (I also confused about the connection but yeah whatever)

okay i just had a lore meltdown in a reblog so i need chat's opinion
are this-reality vocalops real for project sekai characters? like, could rui be canonically a hitoyama/mothy fan? and most importantly - are the commissions we get actually the same as the ones written during the stories? because it's often implied that they are, especially with leo/need (and made-to-order specifically i guess??) but then what.
sorry but trying to fit jackpot sad girl's lyrics into a context that it's written by kanade keeps me up at night why is this teenage girl beefing with hachi all of the sudden
ALSO if you consider whatever the fuck the evillous collab was does this imply that producers can get their personal sekais. and not be aware of their existence. OR ARE THEY? WHAT IS EVEN GOING ON WITH "SEKAIS BASED ON MEMORIES" AND WHY WAS THIS NEVER BROUGHT UP AGAIN I NEED ANSWERS
^ is painfully aware that there could be a very simple explanation but loves to overcomplicate stupid things
Yes, Vocaloid-Ps exist in-universe! Ichika is sorta one since she owns a Miku voicebank and is learning how to use it. Also I shit you not, it's heavily implied that Rui is a fan of those guys. He mentions liking how Vocaloid can be used to tell stories in KAITO's 1* story.
Any song that the characters write in a story is not the same as the commission for the event. If you play the story with music the songs written are always played at some point and they're just OST. Although it may at first seem like Order Made and Utsuro wo Aogu are the songs written by Ichika and Toya within their respective events, when their songs are played in the story, they're actually Count Your Blessings and Step by Step. Order Made is canon though, since it's performed in virtual lives. As I said, commissioned songs that are performed in virtual lives are canon but were likely created by the SEKAI (since they aren't treated as covers, and it's not like vocaloPs are producing songs for teenagers in a pocket dimension).
Jackpot Sad Girl doesn't exist in-universe (possibly, not sure how canon the connect lives are). The song Kanade wrote in Captive Marionette is actually called Marionette, and is never played during the story.
Remember I wrote that really long post about SEKAI lore and then just slapped on the end that they're a metaphor for worldbuilding in music? That's how I'm explaning the Evillious SEKAI. Hey, if the vocaloid characters can manifest into existence then characters based on those characters can also manifest into existence too I guess.
All the VocaloPs that we know canonically exist are:
EasyPop (Happy Synthesizer is played multiple times)
Giga (Rettou Joutou is played multiple times, and the An/Akito GimmexGimme archive is canon. Also drop pop candy cover)
Orangestar (Vivids Asu no Yozora Shoukaihan archive, Kaisei cover)
Eve (BAD DOGS Dramaturgy archive, Oki ni Mesu mama cover)
Surii (Kohane/Toya Junky Night Town Orchestra archive, Ego Rock cover)
takamatt (BAD DOGS TOKIO FUNKA archive)
noripy (Vivids Migikata no Chou archive)
iroha(sasaki) (Kohane/Akito Roshin Yuukai archive)
n-buna (An/Toya Yoake to Hotaru archive, Umiyuri Kaiteitan cover, Meru cover)
and every producer of a cover song which has a 3DMV and has been performed in a Virtual Live. This includes (with their song(s) in brackets):
MikitoP (ROKI, Shoujorei, Yī Èr Fanclub)
Junky (Sweet Magic)
Sasanomaly (Jishou Mushoku)
Natsushiro Takaaki (Near)
nulut (Fragile)
toa (Tsugihagi Staccato)
Harumaki Gohan (Melty Land Nightmare)
koyori (Hitorinbo Envy)
Omoi (Teo)
Hinata Electric Works (Buriki no Dance)
164 (Time Machine)
40mP (Time Machine)
balloon (Charles)
Kurage-P/Wada Takeaki (Chururira Chururira Daddadda!)
doriko (Romeo to Cinderella)

assigning the project sekai characters tarot cards because i’m autistic. pulling from both the major and minor arcanas because working with just the major arcana was way too restrictive and also featuring my actual deck 💗
ichika: Eight of Pentacles
the eight of pentacles indicates that your life recently changed directions and you are now putting your all into your new goals. it's the card of commitment, basically; nothing will deter you from taking this path. reversed, the eight of pentacles is more about self-improvement and development over achieving goals. it may be telling you that you're focused on perfection to your detriment (ichika's struggles with lyric writing and so forth). take a step back and readjust your perspective.
saki: Ten of Cups
the ten of cups represents happiness and emotional contentment. you're surrounded by your loved ones, and you help each other reach your highest potential. keep following your heart and listening to your intuition; you're on the right track! the ten of cups reversed means a lack of harmony in your relationships. you have become disconnected from your loved ones. it can also indicate that your life in general has become unbalanced. you're doing too much; remember to reel it in. keep your expectations realistic.
honami: Queen of Cups
you are a compassionate, nurturing force. you're a master at supporting others, and you are quick to pick up on when things are 'off.' you're creative and in tune with your subconscious. the queen of cups reminds you that you are stronger than you know. reversed, the queen of cups serves as a reminder to take care of yourself too. it can indicate that your emotions are overwhelming you or that you're out of touch with them. learn how to ground yourself; learn to reconnect with your inner self and feel things truthfully.
(bonus: seven of wands reversed fits honami perfectly in don't let doubts hold you back and in putting feelings into words. the main message of this card when reversed is "sometimes conflict is necessary. stop compromising yourself to appeal to others.")
shiho: The Lovers
the lovers is about Choice. it's about choosing who you want to be and how you want to connect with the people around you. it's about open communication, and vulnerability and trust. build harmony by accepting the duality of life and yourself. on the flip side, the lovers also means you're denying your heart. you've become disconnected and you need to repair your relationships. it can signify a moral dilemma and serves as a reminder to stay true to who you really are. (hint hint l/n's main story And the RWY arc)
minori: Queen of Wands
you are upbeat, brave, and determined! stay that way; own who you are and show the whole world. the queen of wands indicates that you are a natural leader, and that your bright nature tends to inspire others. you truly bring out the best in the world. reversed, the queen of wands focuses on self-respect and confidence! it also indicates a period of introversion where you take the time to build up your sense of self. learn how to own who you really are and express it with no reservations (applies to minori in her younger years).
haruka: Five of Cups
you made a mistake. a situation didn't turn out how you hoped, and now... you're wallowing in it. you're stuck in the past. and life is passing you by. there are new opportunities within your grasp, but you're too afraid to reach for them. the five of cups reversed tells you to forgive yourself for your mistakes. the past can't be undone. open up your heart, even though it's scary, and learn how to have hope for the future again.
airi: The Sun
the sun is a very bright card. it represents optimism, success, and a general zeal for life. your positive, radiant energy draws people to you, and it's what makes you so damn resilient. you're full of energy and you're thriving on your current path. the sun reversed tells you that you're being too negative. this negativity is holding you back and is confusing you, and you can't see the way forward. be more open-minded. (airi's struggles with feeling seen as a 'real' idol because of her variety show work)
shizuku: Eight of Cups
the eight of cups represents disappointment and a lack of fulfillment. something hasn't turned out how you thought it would and now all you want is to walk away from it entirely. the eight of cups asks you to ask yourself what brings you joy. reversed, the eight of cups can indicate that you're caught between walking away and trying one more time. really listen to your intuition and reevaluate your values and what's important to you. listen to (and trust) your heart. stay hopeful for the future.
kohane: Ace of Wands
this is the card of pure potential. you can accomplish great things - if you can figure out how to direct your energy. you have the motivation to pursue a new path in life, but you need to act now. no time for indecision. just... go for it! reversed, the ace of wands can mean you're struggling to define your purpose. you don't know where to direct your abundance of potential. have patience; not everything can be accomplished all at once. take the time to learn from the world around you.
an: The Moon
the moon represents repressed fears and emotions. rather than dealing with your feelings, you pushed them way, way, way down into your subconscious, and maybe this worked for a time. but now something is causing them to resurface. you need to listen to yourself. you need to work through these feelings, or they'll just keep haunting you. the moon reversed indicates that you are overcoming your fears. don't give in to the temptation to repress them again; keep facing them. it's the only way you'll grow and reach your highest potential.
akito: Nine of Wands
you are resilient and you have the ability to overcome all challenges, even when you don't think so. you have something special to bring to the world, a dream truly worth pursuing, and others may try to tear you down for it. don't let them dim your light. you are so close to a major turning point. keep your head high and stand your ground. the nine of wands also encourages you to seek the support of your loved ones. reversed, the nine of wands indicates struggle and exhaustion. don't take on more commitments. it can also indicate that you're being too defensive. focus your energy inwards and don't fuss over what other people think about you.
toya: The Star
the star is about healing. you have a renewed faith in the world and yourself and you are entering a period of contentment. you have realized who you are at your core and you're embracing it. the star also indicates high levels of creativity and inspiration. channel this energy well and craft a better life for yourself. the star reversed represents feelings of hopelessness, anxiety, and also a lack of confidence in yourself. you find no joy or satisfaction in your life's pursuits. make a change. heal, and move forward.
tsukasa: The Chariot
the chariot represents a strong will and the ability to triumph in difficult circumstances. it's about ambition and determination! if you don't like the way your life is going, change it! you have more power than you may think. keep going; own your destiny. reversed, the chariot represents the feeling of being Stuck. of being blocked in by obstacles all around you. it's a reminder to resist the urge to give up and keep pushing. (sky's edge, anyone?)
emu: Wheel of Fortune
yes, the wheel of fortune is usually used to represent karma and luck. BUT - it also represents big change. it's for the greater good, but that doesn't mean it's easy. the wheel of fortune reminds you that good times will always circle back around, and to cherish the happy moments instead of fretting over the future. also, release good energy into the world and the world will return the favor. (emu's dreams of making everyone smile and kaito's theory of the Circle of Smiles, yeah?) the wheel of fortune reversed is about resisting change, but i don't believe that applies to emu (anymore) so we don't need to spend time here.
nene: Page of Cups
new beginnings; to reach your highest potential, you have to let your imagination flow and dream big. explore your creative self. really expand on those skills. stay open-minded and embrace your inner child. let yourself believe anything is possible. reversed, the page of cups represents self-doubt and mental blockades. you know what you want to pursue, but you're afraid to reach for it. stop fearing the possibility of mistakes and learn from them. follow your heart, regardless of the outcome.
rui: King of Cups
you are beginning to master your emotions and creativity. you are balanced and calm, even when life throws you curve balls. stay true to your feelings and don't let anyone tell you how to live your life. you know how to look at things from a logical and an emotional perspective and can draw on both to make decisions. be wary of leaning too far into logistics. reversed, the king of cups is about really looking at yourself and gaining a deeper understanding of how your emotions affect you. you may be tempted to take control over these deeper feelings, but remember that too much control is just as bad as not enough.
(bonus: ten of swords applies to rui in regards to wxs's story arc. ten of swords is basically like... painful, inevitable endings. a fundamental change is coming and you're trying to fight it, but it needs to happen or life can never move forward.)
kanade: Strength
strength is... well, strength! it's the card of courage and passion. it's about taming your worst feelings and channeling them into something constructive, instead of letting them control and destroy you. it's about patience and inner calm - and quiet power. strength reversed is a representation of self-doubt and losing control. it may also be a warning that you're lashing out. it's not that you're weak; it's that you're letting your fears and doubts consume you. as we see kanade do in the past, in depths of despair.
mafuyu: The Tower
the tower represents a massive upheaval in your status quo. everything you thought you knew about yourself has been destroyed, but the tower only destroys false foundations. things may feel chaotic and hopeless, but from the ashes will come a better life. usually the tower's instigating event is from an unexpected outside source, but when the card is reversed it indicates that you are tearing down your own false foundations. the tower reversed reminds you to not rebuild what you once had. start all over again.
ena: Temperance
temperance brings patience, moderation, and balance into your life. learn to maintain an even temperament and don't let the little things eat away at you. let them go; learn how to redirect your energy to the things that really matter. temperance is also the "alchemy" card, and what is art if not a form of alchemy? now i know this doesn't sound like ena but that's because this upright meaning houses everything she needs to work on. reversed, temperance means you're out of balance. you've lost your sense of inner calm. you're behaving recklessly, and there is a lack of harmony in many of your relationships. temperance reversed demands that you find your flow - now. it's a call for profound self-healing.
mizuki: Six of Swords
the six of swords represents a state of transition. essential change awaits you, but something is holding you back. what old ideas, habits, memories, and feelings are you clinging to? because it's time to let them go and move forward. you are slowing your own self-growth. six of swords reversed indicates a similar state of transition, but on a very private, personal level. it also means that you know what you need to do to move forward, but you're reluctant to do it. and if you're really struggling to let go of the past, it may be because there is something you need to understand - some lesson you didn't finish learning. resolve those problems now. don't push them aside anymore. letting go of the past is scary, but six of swords is gently reminding you that it'll propel you forward into a better future.

Honami Mochizuki, Avoidance, Broken Bonds, and Responsibility
I’ve always been a big fan of Vocaloid since 2010 when I was a wee child- I even mess with vocal synths in my free time and make songs when confident enough in my skills- and I’d been eyeing Project Sekai (or Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage, but I’ll be referring to it as Prjsk) for a while now. I adore rhythm games and they help me calm down, but I never really bit the bullet until recently. I have no idea why I waited so long! I’ve only been playing for a couple weeks but I’m already mastering the skills and am climbing up.
Anyway, one of my good friends brought me to the attention of Honami Mochizuki, and how many people headcanon her as having AvPD. I’ll assume if you’re reading this you have a vague idea of how the game works, but I’ll explain the background of her and her unit, Leo/need.
Honami is one of four girls in Leo/need, all who were childhood friends who drifted apart when Saki, another part of the group, was hospitalized for chronic illness (which, by the way, I could go on about how surprsingly respectful they are about her disability rep, at least in my opinion as a narcoleptic with a weak immune system). Despite being very close in elementary school, now that they’re all in high school, Honami has drifted from the others and tends to stick with her classmates, seemingly always following their lead.
A common misconception of AvPD is that avoidants don’t have friends. That can be true, but not in the sense that people think! In the past, I had a friend group, but we weren’t exactly friends. I morphed myself for approval so that they’d validate me and I’d be accepted, but I was not myself, and I did not let myself be vulnerable, as close friends should. Even though we had all been “close” since elementary school, what it really was for me was that I had found a group that I thought had accpeted me- only because I had hidden the parts of me they found embarrassing. They still berated me and my choice in other friends that I did actually have connections with, which caused me to drift away from them. That’s something evident in Honami’s story- she sticks with her “friends” because she wanted to get their validation, but these friends didn’t like the other members of Leo/need, so Honami forced herself to stray away from them to avoid being judged and humiliated.
This is something I don’t see discussed much about AvPD- the effect it has on your friends. Although I agree that personality disorder information should focus on those with the disorder, it’s also important to remember the effects it has on those around you (without buying into the abuse propaganda, of course). Honami’s past all too well highlights a part of my journey in AvPD that I wish more people talked about- betraying your friends just for your self image as a coping mechanism. It feels like it keeps you safe, but in reality, it doesn’t. It just hurts your true bonds and further isolates yourself into a group that will take advantage of you and use you as a punching bag.
Even as a 21 year old, I still find myself struggling with this, and I find great comfort in this aspect of Honami’s character. Especially how awkward she is trying to get along with her friends again- repairing old friendships, especially when you’re the source of the rift (for the most part), is always hard. And I love that she doesn’t give up! She keeps going and we see her slowly become more comfortable again with her friends and finding that spark of joy they ignited when she was a child.
I do want to add a disclaimer- I don’t think this coping mechanism is an abuse tactic, but it’s still important to remember the effect it has on other people. When I did this in the past, I thought I was protecting myself and our friendship- why would they want to be seen with someone like me?- but in reality I was hurting them and our bond. Instead of framing this as an abuse tactic, in Prjsk, it’s framed as Honami bearing some responsibility for the drifting, yet respects where she comes from and doesn’t vilify her for it at the same time. It’s quite refreshing, and even though she doesn’t canonically have AvPD, I can definitely see these traits in her, and I absolutely headcanon her with it.
Maybe someday I’ll do a more indepth analysis of Honami having AvPD, but I wanted to especially comment on this part of her. I feel when AvPD is talked about we gloss over the responsiblity we do have on relationships, unless it’s in a negative light painting us as abusers, which isn’t true. Even if Leo/need isn’t my favourite group, I think Honami will continue to have a special place in my heart.
