Queer and the visual framing of intimacy, post sex

Lee's first encounter is with a nameless stranger he picks up in a bar. Their sex is stripped naked, with no artifice, just red-hot lust. Afterwards, they lay nude, but with a distance between them, their soft underbellies down and protected is protected. We see this shallow approximation of the connection that Lee craves through a reflection in a mirror. It is honest, but removed.

Lee's first encounter with Allerton is a whole different beast. He and Allerton have been working up to this moment with time spent getting to know one another. In the soft yellow afterglow, they lay side by side touching, belly exposed, but still partially hidden in their clothes. We see them through the door, an almost voyeuristic view, of hesitant but hopeful intimacy.

And then we have this. THIS.

The sex is intense, passionate, and consuming, playing out across bedding of blue and yellow that reflect the beachfront they have escaped to. Almost immediately following climax, they turn to each other, bare and face to face. We are so close, seeing the expressions on their face as Lee asks, "But you do enjoy it sometimes? The whole deal, I mean."

And Allerton tells him, "Oh, yes."

i feel like a lot of the 'i hate kids' crowd would be more tolerant if they understood that due to a kid's limited experience of the world that 4 hour flight might just be the longest they've ever had to sit still for or that trapped finger might literally be the most pain they've ever felt in their short life or they might not have ever seen a person with pink hair ever so of course they want to touch it or nobody's told them yet that they can't run around the museum and they only just learned cheetahs are the fastest animals so of course they want to put that to the test. how were they supposed to know etc etc.
