karol…. who is the pubby….
The dog(?) is well, a dog that Gozu picked up during her travels. His name is Xiong Xiong or "Bear", and yeah he acts like a dog but vaguely looks like a bear in some angle, and he's got growing tusks.
Anyways she's trained him how to maul people on command-verbally, non verbally, and also on his own judgement.

[The DragonBall fandom is so dumb and continually proves they haven't watched/read the ACTUAL series on a daily basis. Today, I saw "fans" taking yet another TFS joke as gospel truth. Again. Like...stop.]

The moment Mulder quits
A point in which Mulder was ready to quit the minute he saw Scully hold a baby in season 7 and its effects in season 8
*this is my headcanon, its not gospel obviously Firstly, two scenes that are very linked in my head
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Season 7 Ep 22 Requiem and Season 8 Ep 16 Three Words
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at that face. That dead serious, at all costs face.
Season 7
Requiem. The culmination of Scully and Mulder's secret yearish? long quest for a baby. They've tried for a baby with IVF already. Mulder has promised her he wont give up on a miracle for her and they're well... trying basically, throughout season 7. Perhaps I would call it "hoping" for a baby. Maybe Mulder is hoping and Scully is characteristically ambivalent? Fully not using any contraceptives and I know there's a fic in there somewhere, anyway
The first scene above is why Ive never watched past the season 8 finale. nothing past them agreeing to be a family makes any sense because of Mulders face here. People knock Duchovny for not showing out when acting, but I will always be a defender of subtle acting. The way he can say an entire monologue of dialogue with the minute expressions on his face is quite breathtaking here.
Hes goes from sorrow at Scully not being able to have a baby, sorrow at her loss, sorrow at not being able to give her that; to regret at what he thinks is all his fault, at dragging her into this life; to pure love and affection for her seeing this baby in her lap and how good she is with him; and then a smile peaks out. A smile of hope that could compete with the Mona Lisa. Hope for their future and the certainty with which he knows what he wants so clearly, maybe for the first time in his life. His own family.
Like for the first time hes really deciding the cost is too much and he chooses her over the mission. He chooses their future over everything. And he's hopeful and perhaps even happy about it. which for someone with his amount of family trauma is a seismic shift. For so long he's chased the past in hope of fixing it, completely discombobulated and reckless in his search for well, his family.
Though, from the beginning of that moment in the rainy graveyard, he has slowly unconsciously coming to regard Scully as his family. In small gestures, a hand on her cheek or voicing out loud how important she is to him; to big gestures, giving up who he believes is his actual sister to save her.
We are lucky here, to be able to witness the moment the sparks of unconscious thought bloom into the flame of certainty. He follows up as well. Tells her she has to stay, that the cost doesn't outweigh the price anymore. Sure he wants to finish out this case, but he doesn't work without her, thats been established. Him telling her to stop, is his resignation as well. (There's a fit there too, with Skinner and him on the plane probably Skinner already knowing he's done.)
Thomas Flight praises subtly in acting better than I could ever articulate here:
youtube
Season 8
Mulder was weird and the PTSD was implied, but I choose to see it everywhere. After the moment in three words where Mulder tries to let them go gently because he thinks he's too damaged to be a father (Thanks @randomfoggytiger for the meta on that) (there's a fic here obviously where Scully gives him the space to be broken and also hers) After this though, he's not the Mulder as we've seen, ever. He's not the Mulder who
cares about exposing the government so he can say I told you so
cares about saving the public from the invasion
cares about finding the ultimate truth that has driven him since he found the X files
cares about solving cases and one upping the FBI, trying to force them to admit the truth out loud.
Mulder is fighting the entire season for his family.
he cares about exposing the conspiracy so everyone including his child will be safe.
he cares about saving the earth for his child's future
he cares about his childs and his families safety
he has zero concern about the FBI and what they do anymore.
In the second scene above, he's about had it with the entire conspiracy and he's downright pissed. He wants it all to end he doesn't care how. He wants to protect his child above everything. Sure he's usually reckless but this isn't for him and his self involved cause anymore, it's for his family, his wellbeing be damned at some points along the way. He states his thesis in three words while breaking into FBI files in an astonishing show of recklessness
"Look, Scully, I need to make sense of what happened to me. So that I can stop it. Because if I can't stop it, it could happen to anyone. It could happen to you. And who's to say it's going to stop there?"
I always wondered why he was putting Scully through all that, without realising this was the reason. Poor guy. There's nothing else in his purview anymore besides that baby who's in danger, and his family, so much so, when he is ultimately fired from the FBI, he's positively giddy at his newfound freedom.
If he had then gone down a path temporarily where he murdered his way through the remnants of the syndicate to assure the safety of his family John Wick style, I would've absolutely believed it.
It would've been insanely intriguing look at an evolving dynamic between Scully and Mulder. Scully law abiding Mulder reckless as always but with a different motivation. Becoming what he's always feared, to protect the family he has never had. A family he feels like he's only grasping at, as they're slipping through his fingers due to the danger and his recent and past traumas.
There's a reason a lot of the fandom sees Mulder as a happy stay at home dad post wherever they decide to end watching. Thats what he's been searching for his entire life. A happy family with loving parents. When he let go of that dream for himself in Closure, he found he could want that for his future family whatever that looked like (adoption, a miracle, etc.) in Requiem. And I personally don't believe he ever would let that dream go once he realised, I mean we all saw the devotion he had to his sister right?
In other words these are my reasons season 9 onwards make zero sense and I regard them as AU

sorry for once again recycling the tags i left on others ppls posts into their own post to fail to make the same point in an even more verbose way but
re the how did black sails end discussion. and i say this as someone who watched the finale in 2017 convinced and overjoyed that flint survived bc thats what i needed to see back then as a depressed queer teenager and has since held almost every imaginable stance on the subject at least twice except for that very first one
but how do u earnestly believe silvers story. i do think theres an argument to be made that flint is alive (i am currently back towards leaning that he physically survived in some fashion or other. maybe. dont make me pin down my opinion it needs to ferment another month or two lol) but silver of the "i heard logan and charlotte ran away together to new providence" fame. that silver tells u a story that flint happily went to georgia w his lover and u unironically think yeah thats exactly how it went down :)
maybe thats also bc idc about thomas hamilton anymore but even back then after the finale settled in and i started to rotate it all in my mind and then again after my first rewatch and every rewatch since i honestly have been unable to find the trust and conviction to take silvers story as the gospel truth bc like. gates voice i am tired of the effort it takes to believe you. to believe in you

Oh, also, Doe just showing up at camp, being named & kept? Absolutely canon. Doe only started being called Doe due to a survivor who came up with 'Jane Doe' to answer her odd situation.
Before that, the survivors considered her a cryptid or ghost who'd show up in trials and seemingly never be found outside of glimpses and wasn't altruistic. They just called her Blue Jeans back then, but when she hung around more, they learned more about her, got attached, and then they started the name conversation; she didn't have a name to give them, hence Jane Doe and later Doe!

I like Itachi but I don't get why people praised him for the killings? obito, sasuke, pain and madara are shown evil for the same but itachi is praised as a hero? I don't like to think of him as hero but thats not what kishimoto has in mind.
Wait, did you just club Sasuke with Madara, Pain, and Obito? Sasuke hated everyone responsible for Itachi's sufferings. I don't understand why he's grouped with them when his idealogy is very different from theirs, especially Madara and Obito. Obito was directly responsible for the clan's downfall.
I don't think Sasuke is ever presented as "evil" and there's a reason Madara, Pain, and Obito are presented as antagonists and villains instead of heroes or saints.
Tumblr media
There's a stark contrast between pre and post truth reveal Sasuke. Pre reveal Sasuke keeps his composure and refuses to kill people. It's a recurring message in his story. He does lose himself after Itachi's death. His rage is understandable. And yes, he does do many wrong things, for which he isn't presented as an angel. However, his morals aren't still corrupted because once he meets Itachi he changes his stance and ends up helping in the war.
No way one should place him with the other three.
Itachi, too, is different from the three people you mentioned. Obito, Madara, and Pain are not only much stronger than him, they also had unbridled power that Itachi didn't. He didn't know Obito/Madara's plans of Infinite Tsukuyomi. Most of all, unlike the other three he had no authority. And the choices he made were made under extreme duress. He was placed in the circumstances in which he was provided the options - not powers - to impede the tragedy. He knew what he'd done was unforgivable, because never does he try to make excuses for the killings.
The circumstances that resulted into the massacre of the Uchiha were the outcome of the fractured system of Hashirama, Madara, and Tobirama, also furthered by Obito. Madara, an Uchiha, attacked the village, deserting his clan because the other Uchiha didn't support him. Hashirama broke the deal he made with Madara. And Tobirama, obviously, never left his anti Uchiha bubble he made since his childhood. Obito attacked the village. In short, the foundation of the Uchiha downfall was set by these people. Obviously, it was unintentional and that's not what the debate is about, but it's still relevant right now.
These people were older than Itachi ever got to be. He was a child. That's why he gets the sympathy. Itachi, unlike the main villains of the series, didn't go out of his way to harm people. Yes, he committed crimes, but they weren't committed because he had fun killing people. Of the two evils, he chose lesser of the evil, which cost a smaller number of people lives and his own reputation, name, honour. He didn't kidnap a helpless, wounded child and manipulated him into thinking a dreamland would fix all his problems. He didn't use the nuclear bomb equivalent of the ninja world and set the village on fire. The damage he caused he paid for them. He didn't need talk no jutsu to be told he was wrong and unforgivable. Even though he was a part of the Akatsuki, he was still a disposable pawn to them.
And as to people "praising" him, it's absolutely wild because characters' opinions on Itachi are taken as some sort of gospel truth as if the author agrees with it himself. As if the only unreliable narrator is Obito for the time when we need to discard his words on Itachi. Moreover, the people "praising" Itachi are:
Naruto. Naruto has a naive and very simplistic view of the things in which the village is always the priority. He sees his village as the flawless entity and anyone who is pro Konoha is good according to him. That's what he's been taught and that's what he believes in too. He sees Itachi stopped the war by taking the blame of the crime? Good. However, even then Naruto doesn't do anything to clear Itachi's name, despite becoming the Hokage. More than a decade later, Itachi is still a renowned criminal in the Shinobi world, not very different from the other criminals. Naruto's praise is hollow.
Hashirama. I really don't have to paste all the penals in which Hashirama describes how horrible the warring era was. People barely got to touch their thirty. 5-6 year old kids were sent to wars. One side killed the other in the battle, the other one felt entitled to the revenge and continued the mindless cycle of hate and violence. Hashirama was truly dedicated to ending this and bring peace. So, when he learned Itachi had taken a decision that stopped the fourth war that was inevitable, he was impressed. From his perspective, what he'd seen since his childhood, what he'd grown up with, didn't happen. So the massacre wasn't as bad as a war would have been. He didn't know anything about Itachi other than what he heard from Hiruzen a moment ago. If he did, the Edo Tensei Hashirama, despite being immortal, would have died of shame because Itachi went through exactly what he wanted to stop in his times.
Hiruzen. He praises Itachi for simply being a perfect Shinobi. He worked too much. He was a dedicated ninja. Thought like a Hokage? Oh, this child doesn't want endless violence, so cool. People remember Hiruzen praising Itachi, but not that he himself admits to making Itachi kill his brethren and going rogue, thus admitting to becoming the main cause of Itachi's sufferings. There's a lot of issues in Hiruzen refusing to hold Danzo accountable, yes, but we're talking about his opinions on Itachi.
Obito. Obito has to convince Sasuke so Sasuke can be of use to him against the village. In front of Sasuke, Obito eulogises Itachi, but then also thinks of Itachi as an "eyesore". While the information he gives us largely true, but saying that in front of Sasuke, he has his ulterior motives.
Now, only Sasuke, Naruto, and Kakashi (and maybe Tsunade) know his truth. He's still viewed as a dangerous criminal, let alone commemorated as a hero. Kishimoto shows him as a tragic figure, not heroic. People who say positive things about him have a bias, lack information on him, or just don't care. I will never understand why it's made such a big deal. I do have issues with the narrative not acknowledging what happened to the Uchiha clan was wrong, but it's not Itachi who deserve the blame. It's Hiruzen and Danzo along with the other two geezers who should be held responsible.

If this isn't too personal, how did you come to Christ?
If this comes off disjointed or rambly im sorry lol.
Uhh when me and Sibling were really young we did go to church. Did not understand anything that was going on but I do recall wanting to know more and wanting to know God. I understood the concept of sin and being a sinner and i know i didn't want to be that. I considered myself Christian at that time but I probably wasn't tbh. I did pray a lot tho.
Up until high school i was basically living that same nominally Christian life--i was aware of my bible, didn't read it. Family stopped going to church years ago. I was hanging around a lot of athiests and it was that cringe ahh era of anti-sjw youtube which had a lot of athiests as well. Didn't really agree with the anti Christian things they were saying but i was very bothered by the fact that i couldnt refute any of it. No one i knew irl could answer my questions and i couldn't find anything. It was extremely distressing for me. Like if God was real then it should be able to be demonstrated and proven. Theology should be able to be defended.
Became agnostic for like. 10 minutes. It just felt so wrong and bad like in my body that i was like Nope Not Doing that. Basically stayed Christian out of spite during this period of my life but desperately begged God to show me proof that He was real.
Skip to college: I joined a really solid college ministry and discovered based Christian tumblr. My mentor and a bunch of tumblr Christians were able to answer all my questions and teach me about the faith. I was serving in that church and consistently reading my bible and hearing the gospel. I wanted to believe so bad but I wasn't sure I did. Not bc i believed that Christianity wasnt true, but because I doubted my own belief in the truth.
I remember the moment I really believed though. I was chilling in my freshman dorm on my laptop, reading about apologetics. And i think id found like a list of arguments for the existence of God. I read them and like. Something clicked in my head. Like my whole world shifted. I ran outside and was just staring at everything like God made that!! And that!! And me!! Like the full weight that nothing could exist without God hit me with full force and I couldnt go back to thinking or even existing the way I had before. I also remember calling my parents and excitedly trying to explain everything I'd learned to them and also just repeating God is real over and over. I probably sounded crazy and they definitely did not understand what i was saying but they seemed happy for me. I knew if God was real then the gospel and Christianity had to be true. No other religion compared.
Not too long after that, the head pastor at the time called me and asked if I wanted to be baptized and join the church. I was still a little doubtful of my own belief--what i didnt realize was that I was putting my trust in God to be who He said he was and do what He said He said he would do despite my unbelief, which is what true faith entails--but I said yes. I met with my mentor and pastor. They shared the gospel with me again, and I was baptized.
I didnt realize i was gay until like a couple years after that but yeah thats the story :)

https://www.tumblr.com/dearweirdme/751109193324478464/the-problem-with-daeun-is-and-thats-probably-the
So this is probably kinda obvious & I don’t want to sound like I’m telling anon (or anyone else) how to feel about this Daeun situation
(Here comes the BUT)
But. Anon is talking about the photos & videos Daeun has uploaded & saying that they are ‘literally straight up manipulated’ re the date of them being taken.
Also saying that she’s been ‘caught’ doing this or that.
As if that is absolute gospel truth that’s been verified by a court of law.
Now some or all of this may be true. But I think that quite often, people take information that they read online as being absolutely true depending on what they want to believe.
However, it’s really important to remember that unless you yourself have verified without doubt that this information you’re believing is true, you don’t actually KNOW.
People often have an agenda. Especially the ones making statements as FACTS when they are repeating what other people have said. And it’s impossible to know if they do have an agenda & if so, what it is.
I’m not saying that all the info this anon said about Daeun isn’t true - maybe it is 🤷‍♀️
But I’ve also seen a lot of people, including pjms, saying that what Daeun is showing is true & so are the dates.
So who to believe. TBH, at this point, it’s hard to say - more data required.
Daeun’s content is very believable…but maybe she’s super clever
If she’s an ex, I honestly don’t know why she’s bringing this tsunami of hate down on herself, but I don’t have enough verifiable information to judge that.
Perhaps we’ll get the truth - but I’m not holding my breath- if she is his gf, Big Hit has absolutely no incentive to confirm that & torpedo the jikook ship. Especially not before the upcoming jikook content - this could cost them money & will definitely upset a lot of his fans - I don’t see BH or Jm wanting that.
If she’s a liar looking for attention, it’ll most likely be dealt with in some way that suits BH - perhaps the distraction from other issues suits them right now?
Anyway. Sorry for the rambling- point is, don’t believe everything you read on the internet & thanks for coming to my Ted Talk 😊
Hi anon!
Thanks for your Ted Talk! I agree! All we can do is speculate while weighing different possibilities. I think a lot if things are possible. It’s possible she’s an ex, it’s possible they’re still dating, it’s possible they’re off and on, it’s possible she’s kinda trolling even (weirder things have happened). What I personally find most likely is that she’s an ex, or that they’re in an off and on relationship atm.
