#and that's what we call character development.

Do you think Dick has a favourite brother?
I LOVE THIS QUESTION. I'M GOING TO ANSWER IT AT UNNECESSARY LENGTH.
But for the tl;dr crowd: yes, 1000000%. It's Damian. Dick would not admit this under pain of death, even to himself, but it's Damian.
THE LONG VERSION:
So Dick and Jason are not close and never have been. I always sort of blink in bewilderment when people say they are, or were when Jason was Robin, because they are demonstrably not, and that's what's interesting and tragic about them.
The fact of the matter is that Dick simply wasn't around very much when Jason was Robin. The Doyleist reason for this is that he wasn't really being treated like a Bat character: he was a Titans character, appearing in Titans books, with only the occasional cameo in Batbooks. He and Jason get along very well in Jason's first origin story (when Jason was a circus acrobat and his parents were eaten by crocodiles); in fact, Dick tells Bruce he wants to adopt Jason and Bruce is like "Not if I adopt him first!" But after that, Dick simply...wasn't there very often.
If you need a Watsonian reason for this, it's pretty easy to extrapolate one. Dick and Bruce were not getting along well during this period, so of course Dick would avoid Bruce and Gotham. And yeah, I think it's fair to assume Dick felt some kind of complicated feelings about Bruce having a new Robin, especially post-Crisis when Bruce made Jason Robin without Dick having any say or even a warning that it was going to happen. I tend to headcanon that he resented Jason a little, but was mature enough to know that it wasn't actually Jason's fault, and partially decided to stay away so that he didn't take that out on Jason. But Jason, a smart and sensitive kid, interpreted this as Dick avoiding him because he didn't like him.
And then Jason died.
Dick took that hard, and I think it was less "my brother who I had a close relationship with died" and more "this child followed in my footsteps and it killed him and I wasn't even there for him when I had the chance." To me, that absolutely forms the subtext of the relationship he develops with Tim.
Not at the start. At the start, once "A Lonely Place of Dying" is over, he's as checked out with Tim as he was with Jason. The Doyleist reason is the same - Dick literally just wasn't supposed to be in Batbooks too much - but the way it plays out is sometimes really funny in an awful way. Like in and just after Knightfall, when Bruce gets his back broken by Bane and is like "I've known Jean-Paul Valley for two weeks and he barely has any training, most of it done by my extremely new 13-year-old Robin...I think I'll make him Batman." And then Tim's dad and Tim's dad's doctor, Shondra Kinsolving, get kidnapped, and since Bruce has been aggressively romantically pursuing Shondra to the point of it being uncomfortable and inappropriate, he's like "Okay going to rescue Shondra! I mean, your dad! I'm taking Alfred with me! Tim, you're in charge of Gotham and Jean-Paul byeeeeee!" And then JPV immediately gets unhinged and violent and tries to kill Tim and Tim keeps calling Alfred like "Um can you please come back and help" and Alfred's like "No" and Tim's like "Okay well did you at least rescue my dad?" and Alfred's like "Also no." Anyway Dick finally comes to Gotham and Tim is like "THANK GOD, HELP, BRUCE MADE AZRAEL BATMAN AND HE'S TRYING TO KILL EVERYONE, I NEED AN ADULT" and Dick is like "He made someone who isn't me Batman??? 😡😡😡" and then just...fucks off back to New York and leaves Tim to deal with it. Very out of character, VERY funny.
BUT ANYWAY. Then we get to around 1996 and 1. Dick is no longer on the Titans which has a whole new lineup and 2. there's an editorial shift emphasizing the Batfamily. This is where the line really expands: Robin (started in 1993, but still pretty new), Nightwing, Birds of Prey, Azrael, eventually Gotham Knights in 1999 and Batgirl in 2000. Dick moves to Bludhaven and spends way more time in Gotham.
This is when Dick looks at Tim, says "Is anyone gonna big brother that?" and doesn't wait for an answer. All of a sudden he's behaving in a way that suddenly feels in character for him (although the idea of Dick as a big brother/mentor...really wasn't a thing for him prior to this era, so it's more of a new development that feels correct in retrospect). He's training Tim, he's giving him advice, he's teasing him about girls, he's coming up with inside jokes, he's giving him noogies. It's like he watched a bunch of 80s sitcoms to learn how to be a big brother and applied his research accordingly.
And Tim? Tim absolutely blossoms under the attention. Tim, who has been adultified by every other adult in his life since he was, like, eight, is getting treated like a kid. Tim, whose parents are never around, and don't pay attention when they are around, has an adult he looks up to who wants to spend time with him, for fun. Tim, who has hero worshipped Dick Grayson since he was...well, according to the math, he was one (1) year old so let's ignore the math, but he was small, is now basking in the full force of Dick Grayson's off-the-charts charisma. This is the best thing that has ever happened to Tim. This is the dream.
I want to be clear here: I think Dick's extreme reversal here is a delayed reaction to Jason's death, but I don't want to imply that he doesn't care about Tim as an individual. He loves Tim as much as Tim loves him. Tim's good opinion is incredibly important to him. This relationship goes both ways.
Annnnd then both of their lives fall apart extremely rapidly, and Damian shows up, and Bruce dies. And Dick tries to get out of it, but ultimately it ends how it has to: with him accepting the mantle of Batman, and responsibility for Damian.
The relationship Dick has with Damian is nothing like the relationship Dick has with Tim. Tim is his little bro. Damian is his baby. He's fourteen years older than Damian and as much of a parent figure as a sibling figure. And Damian is difficult and exhausting but Dick slowly, slowly coaxes a degree of trust and affection out of him that even Bruce will never achieve. And he can only do that by making Damian Robin, which means Tim has to stop being Robin.
This is where Dick and Tim fall apart, because what they need in this very vulnerable moment is so diametrically opposed, and neither of them are wrong. To Dick, asking Tim to step down - or up, from Dick's perspective - from being Robin is a compliment. Dick fought to free himself from Bruce, to become his own man with his own name, and so asking Tim to do the same thing is a show of faith in Tim, in his skills and experience.
Whereas Tim's hero-worship has always been for Robin, not Batman, and every glimpse he has had of a future beyond Robin has always been a dystopia. But more importantly, Tim has just lost his father, his stepmother, his mentor, his girlfriend, and his two best friends. He desperately needs to be able to lean on Dick, the grown-up he admires the most, and instead, Dick is kicking him out of the nest.
In other words: Dick is saying, with all the love and trust in his heart, "I need you to help me by being a fellow adult." And Tim is saying, with all the love and trust in his heart, "But I need you to be my adult." And they both get a no.
This is water under the bridge now, and they've healed even though they've never really talked it through because Bats don't do that (although what I wouldn't give for a Nightwing/Red Robin miniseries where they do everything but talk about it). But I do think Tim looks at the closeness and affection between Dick and Damian and feels some kind of way about it to this day, because it's so clear to everyone that Damian is Dick's favorite...but Tim remembers when he was Dick's favorite. And what Tim doesn't see is that Dick values him as a genuine partner in a way he will never quite achieve with Damian, because to him, Damian will always be his baby, even more so than he is Bruce's. (Dick is Bruce's baby, actually, not Damian. In this essay I will...)
(I could see a really interesting dynamic developing between Jason and Tim here, as the ones on the outside of that mutual appreciation society, but sadly the comics have never gone there. Alas.)
Finally, I think the relationship between Dick and Duke is very much "I just work here." Like, Dick is grown, he's out of the house, he's largely matured past the Bat-drama. He likes Duke but he doesn't feel the compulsion to brother him the way he did with Tim, and Duke doesn't need the mother henning Damian did.
IN CONCLUSION, and hooboy, sorry anon, most of this wasn't at all the question you asked:
Duke and Dick get along fine but aren't particularly close.
Damian is Dick's precious baby and always will be, even when Damian is an adult and annoyed by this treatment (but privately kind of loves it because he is a princess at heart).
Tim is Dick's buddy, his pal, his equal. If Dick were ever going to talk something through with a sibling, it would be Tim. (But that would require Dick admitting that everything isn't perfect or asking for help, so it'll never happen.)
Jason and Dick can't be in a room together for five minutes without fighting and Dick finds him wildly frustrating, but they will throw down for each other. When they aren't punching each other.
(And to answer the corollary: Damian's favorite brother is Dick. Tim's favorite brother is also Dick. Duke's favorite brother is Tim by default, since he doesn't know Dick very well and Jason and Damian are both too annoying, but really he's closest with Cass. Jason's favorite brother is Ace and he has communicated that often and loudly (but really it's probably also Dick).)

— facts about demonknife!reader .ᐟ
⛤ she has the inscriptions from the knife going down her spine. sam first saw it when he was bathing her, her back being turned to him so he could wash her. his fingertips immediately reached out to skim over the indented and scarred skin, completely mesmerized by it. her legs also have light handprints all over from being held so much; the sizes different depending on the hand. when her and sam have sex, he loves running his hands on her spine during doggy style, but also loves placing them on his own large prints on her legs in any other position.
⛤ she takes extra time to deep clean the boys' knives because they wouldn't clean her properly and she doesn't want the other knives to get the same treatment she did.
⛤ she's a physical touch girlie!! she loves holding hands or someone's arm, or even just latching onto their clothing. she constantly needs to invade someone's personal space to feel safe wherever she goes because she's afraid of nearly everything; i mean, did you see her when she was turned? she sobbed the whole way back to the motel. bonus points if she can do all of these with sam because she really only trusts him.
⛤ speaking of trust, it took her forever to warm up to dean. simply because he yelled at sam over their new situation when she was crying. plus, he was really standoffish with her and constantly talked about ways they could turn her back.
⛤ she never liked the names her and sam looked up because they just didn't feel right. but one day sam called her dem, explaining that it was short for demon as he had thought of names and nicknames for her for a while. although the hates the monstrosities she's named after, she accepts the shortened version fully as it sounded perfect coming from sammy's mouth. despite the new found name, dean still calls her the knife or sam's girlfriend, with castiel simply calling her 'the girl' or 'the woman' (they eventually warm up to her name over time).
⛤ she also LOVES cas because she HATES demons. it was her purpose to be against them, alright? but she loves the concept of angels, even though they're huge dicks. the two of them are the self-proclaimed #1 and #2 demon haters. plus they're always learning new things together so they're def besties.
⛤ she likes playing games on sam's laptop because she loves pressing and tapping the buttons on the keyboard.
"can you make her stop? its getting late and we have to be on the road early in the morning." dean groaned to sam from his bed.
"she likes the sound the keyboard makes." sam defended as he sat next to her at the table.
her character died and the game over screen popped up. "no! one more round, please, sammy? just one!" she begged with puppy-dog eyes, giving sam a run for his money with how much cuter they were than his, which is extremely tough to top.
he couldn't help but smile at her. "okay, just one more but then we gotta go to bed, alright?"
she nodded her head frantically, practically jumping in her seat to restart the level.
"try and make it quick, honey. dean's upset." he whispered into her ear before kissing her temple, dean groaning again in the background at the click clack of the keyboard, covering his head with pillows to drown out the sound.
one (sam) could argue that she just loves the sound, but it's really the anger that fills dean up when she annoys him.
⛤ sam, unfortunately, had to talk her into wearing a bra as she began to wear tight clothing after developing her own style—which consisted of his old clothes being fitted to her body. he curses himself for the choice nearly everyday but it makes seeing her chest when they're alone all the more special.
⛤ hates being compared to ruby and is deathly afraid of somehow turning out like her. she used to love ruby endlessly until she was given to sam by her, becoming attached to him because of it. sam has to remind her that she's not ruby and never will be because she couldn't be more different from her. what happened between him and ruby is nothing compared to what he and demonknife!reader have now, he loves her so much and will always remind her of that (while they trash talk ruby).
⛤ has bad anger issues when it comes to hunts with demons involved. she gets this pure, white-hot rage in her veins when she sees one. when she attacks, it's the most vicious thing the winchesters have ever seen, and they've seen plenty in their line of work. she can easily punch through a demon's vessel when her vision gets clouded by her hatred, lights flashing when she kills the black-eyed creatures. afterwards, she'll go back to being the sweetest little thing ever. her innocent looks and soft spoken voice contradicting the amount of blood completely covering her, sticking to her skin and clothing like she stepped into a giant blood bath.

#we must write a proposal to gmmtv and in it we will push op and first kanaphan as creative directors (@fadelbison)
#i love ideas like this#they sould let fans write more actual shows#fanfic isnt enough i need to see them act it out (@clemelntine)
YOU SAY THIS AS IF IM NOT FOAMING AT THE MOUTH TO WRITE THIS FIRSTKHAO SHOW
for example, take more scenes that have developed in my head:
to make the typing shorter, I'm going to call first's character F and Khao's character K!
On his first day of training, someone made F grab coffee and make copies, but F tried to do both at the same time and he was running into the elevator with a stack of papers on TOP of the coffee and he ended up dropping everything on top of K (luckily all iced). K yelled at him, covered in sopping wet papers, but we find out later on that he laughed his ass off as soon as he got back into his office, sopping wet, all because of how fast F talked trying to explain himself, and how big his eyes were when he looked at him so panicked. After that, K couldn't help but tease him.
I feel like F lives by a train and whistles as it passes by every night. I don't know why.
I don't imagine this as a "K's secretly in love with him the whole time" story-- I do think K is more hesitant to fall in love but there is a certain desire to be around F (because LOOK AT HIM).
There has to be some kind of color coordination here. First has to wear slightly brighter colors while Khao wear's not just dark but dull colors. He's not a huge fashion guy, but he really likes representing his mood with what he wears so he always rolls his eyes at K's wardrobe
to grow upon my switch idea, i think that first and khao's characters would take control in different ways at home and at work, because i think F will eventually find that he LOVES it when K takes control at work, and khao's character loves being bossed around at home. but then there's one day when the dynamic snaps. K is pacing around the room, tugging at his tie, and shoves his arm free when F tries to grasp at it and calm him down. And then, all of a sudden, F pushes him down into his chair roughly. Despite his anger, K's gaze darkens a bit-- but in a different way. F gets to his knees, and takes K's hands, leading them to his hair. F says, "run your hands through my hair and rub my head, now." It's an order, and K complies, feeling his scalp and watching as F's lips part just a bit. He relaxes slightly. F's eyes flutter open, but now HE looks tense. "Kiss me."
The first pic is the look on first but sunshiny like in the second pic 🫶🏻 and khao’s look/aesthetic (2nd pic) below

saw on twitter somewhere about a ceo/assistant show for firstkhao but fr they should play those roles because first would be the PERFECT clumsy assistant
imagine:
first's character having to lean down to button khao's character's shirt up, swallowing over and over again
First’s character is slightly clumsy and a nervous wreck whenever he’s around Khaotung’s character because he’s always undoing his tie around his neck just slightly, craning his head to the side to expose his jaw and throat. Khaotung’s character is hot when he gets stressed, and even more when he’s angry
first in glasses and a suit is obviously a selling point (khun alan, please return to me!!)
Khaotung’s character is confident and self-assured but lord he doesn’t know how to work a copier so First’s character ends up being a little cocky about knowing more than him until K’s character has him backed up against the machine with a smirk on his face because HE controls the dynamic here, dammit. And first’s character has his hands pressed against each side of the copier to brace himself up (big-eyed, startled man)
I imagine they’d switch and thought of a scene where f’s character would get fucked in the supply room—WHO SAID THAT
This??!
Anyway.

Genuinely don't understand how these people get these ideas.
Q. Theorizing stuff when we have no idea if he's even still on the show is insane behavior because he's not filming.
A. How do you know he's not filming? You're basing that entirely off of the bts of the calls the show intentionally wanted people to see and be distracted by. Eddie is in El Paso for that episode, duh he wouldn't have been in those BTS videos. You know who else we've barely seen? Jennifer, and none of you are predicting her exit as a result of that. None of you predicted Peter's exit when Bobby retired. Eddie is the only one you do this over. And most of you are following the lead of people who want him to leave, and even they don't genuinely believe he's gone. If he was leaving we would know by now. The show would have allowed that information to have been leaked. Then the cliffhanger would be rather or not his exit would be open ended or if they would kill him off. That's where the speculation would be. Neither the show, or ABC, would allow the show's entire promotional campaign to be built around a duo if one half of that duo was leaving. No one has ever or will ever do that because that's asking your audience to invest in something they can no longer deliver. This show is not stupid. Also Tim basically told you he wasn't leaving. He said the Buck and Eddie story would show both sides of the story. Meaning we will see Buck's side of the story as well as Eddie's side of the story. If Ryan was leaving there would be no Eddie side to tell. The show wouldn't care because he wasn't on the show anymore therefore Buck's did of the story would be the only side that mattered. Be serious for one moment.
Theorizing is part of fandom. You develop theories until you get new information and then you adjust your theories. Guess what? After the TVLine write up, I no longer think my earlier speculation is correct. That's part of the fun. It's part of the point. You all don't see him in clips he should absolutely not be in because his character is in an entirely different city and you immediately conclude Eddie is permanently leaving and he and Buck will call themselves bros for life as he drives off into the oblivion. Your freakouts make absolutely no sense and are invented from absolutely nothing.
Thank you Nonny!
🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
I cannot.
How many times do we have to repeat ourselves? This topic has been discussed over and over again.
NO! Ryan is NOT leaving! Eddie is not leaving!
Let it go already.
Oh... and you know what?
YES! Buddie is happening! 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
Heads up! For anyone who is giving me the shifty eyes for reposting Ali's updates instead of reblogging. Read this.

Today in: Clones Characters that deserved better!
Issue #2
-CID-
No it's not a joke- HEAR ME OUT!
First of all- I'm not gonna sit here and say that Cid was a good character and she doesn't deserve all the hate.
She is a horrible person and she totally sucks-
What I mean is that I feel like she was cut short and her story was not finished. This is not unusual with the Bad batch enemies and antagonists that are not cameos. Hemlock also suffering from this "half written" desease. The only one I think had a full arc and a satisfactory-ish end was Rampant but that's another story.
Cid in particularly resonates with me cause the old lizard has a very interesting design. She is a trandoshan and she is the first of her kind that we ever see being both female ( i think) and elder. Most of the other Trandoshans we have seen in the movies, videogames and series are mostly adult males. She is also an ally at first, which is also weird for a Trandoshan, being usually the go-to when writers need a "enemy alien". And sure, this could be read as she already being an antagonist from the beginning- But I never liked star war's trend of having a certain species being "the evil species." So having a trandoshan ally was something that I was excited about!
I wanna see more Trandoshan allies and more Wookie villains.
Sure, when we first meet her she is not the best person, making it clear to us that she cares more about money than making friends with the batch. Their relationship is strictly business like- However the more we see her during season one the more we see her connect with the batch. Specially with Omega.
Sure- She connects with Omega cause she notices Omega can be useful to her. But it's thanks to Cid that Hunter and the rest start to treat Omega as a member of the team, rather than a charge they need to take care of. She has also given her a few tips on how to use the bow that have helped Omega in the long run.
It almost seemed like Cid's arc was to eventually warm up to the Batch, they seemed to work well together and even ally well when time required it... so by the end of season one I was convinced this would be her path.
Then, season two episode 4: Faster, came along and I noticed something weird...
While some of us were drooling over Tech's masterful abilities in the racing track(me included)- I began to notice on the re-runs that there was a certain character development in Cid.
She seemed to really want to change, to become a better person from who she used to be. (btw, we never learn more about her past- which is not a bad thing, but it also adds to her missing pieces.) She wants to prove to Millegi that she is not the ruthless, spineless, money-driven tradoshan she once was and we see that determination in her face, for a moment.
This was the first and only time that we have been shown Cid to be vulnerable. Really vulnerable. And I find it strange for a character that we were supposed to "hate" in the end, to have a whole episode where we see her vulnerable side. Which kind of tip me off that Cid had more story to her that was inevitable cut down by the studio deciding to cut the series short.
At the same time, on the same episode, we have Millegi's warning about Cid. Something that is meant to be forshadowing. So by the end of Faster, we got this information:
-Cid is not a good person and she never was, so the bad batch is right for not fully trusting her. -But Cid wants to change, or at least wants to convince herself that she has/can changed. -However, she might have trouble in the future failing to not fall into old habits.
However... this was pretty much the last episode where Cid was relevant at all.
We don't see her again until 5 episodes later, in Crossing/Retrieval. Where the Batch call's Cid for Help and she just leaves them on read.
How.... did we pass from Cid having character development to she just straight abandoning the Batch with little explanation other than "This is more trouble than it's worth"?
And THEN- when we see her again is already at the end of the season, on episode 16- Plan 99. Where Cid has a conversation with Wrecker and she reveals to them that she *had* to sell them out.
But instead of sounding condescending or proud of selling them off. Being all like: "I told you what would happen if you crossed me!" or something like that. You know... showing us that she really didn't care to sell the bad batch to Hemlock, we see her reluctant and even regretful.
Like she really, really, didn't had a choice. Like she really, really, didn't wanted to do so.
But she did- Because in the end, she is still that old Cid.
She decided that looking after herself, going down her old habits, was better than risking her skin for them.
And YEAH WHAT A BITCH- But it still feels... weird.
Like I'm not being told the whole context.
After this episode we never see Cid again, she is mentioned and somewhat implied that she was tortured or killed by CX-2 but she kind of just fizzles out... And it feels wrong, seeing how she was an important member of the cast during season 1.
I'M NOT GONNA LIE-
I was *convinced* that Phee was going to be the evil one.
Phee suffers from the "Disney girl boss" fever and she is too perfect for her own good, which is another rant for another ocasión. - So I was sure that she would double cross the Bad batch. She couldn't be that perfect... right?
She would appear being all cool, and having Omega look up to her and the batch trusting her easily by how cool she is- only for her to turn on them cause she is a pirate.
All for the batch to realize they were better off with Cid.
A classic "not everything that shines is gold" kind of stuff. But obviously that is not what happened. Uu
So here is my take on what I think Cid's arc was supposed to be.
We have two paths: the Good end and the bad end.
-BAD END-
Cid would connect back with the batch. Apologizing for not offering help with some excuse like "The empire was on my back" or something like that. Trying to sell the story that she was looking out for them.
We would have more situations where the Batch start trusting Cid again, but Phee is the one that warns them not to keep playing her games. That maybe they should finally break ties with her.
Before they can do that, plan 99 doesn't happens and the Batch hurries to take refuge with Cid. This time they "trust" her enough to believe that they would be safe.
Only to then be revealed that Cid sold them out for a huge amount of money. Cid would be shown to be unapologetic, saying something like "It's nothing personal, it's just business."
Then we either never see her again, Or we would see her demise via greed on another episode. Maybe tied with the Durand for it to be more poetic.
Cid would be a character we would all hate for being a total bitch- but we would have more context and more flavor to her betrayal.
Full on villain mode.
-GOOD END-
Cid get's a redemption arc in this one.
Things would go normally. But it would be remarked that Cid silence was unusual.
After Cid's betrayal and Omega being taken away, we would later on see Cid finding Hunter and Wrecker again.
Hunter and Wrecker are upset with her- obviously, But Cid begs for them to give her a chance to explain herself.
She tells them that she went radio silent cause the Empire had arrived on Ord Mantel and that Hemlock made her a deal she could not refuse.
She did not wanted to sell the batch, but she had no choice. It was them or her.
This would Upset Hunter, which would probably say something like : "Omega trusted you."
This would hit Cid hard, since we were already shown that she and Omega had a little connection.
Cid would then admit that she was a coward and that she fell back into her old habits out of fear, but would decide to offer her help freely to Hunter and Wrecker as she owns Omega that much.
With Cid's help as an information matrix, we would see Hunter and Wrecker keep looking. Cid giving them tips and bits of information that could be useful for them to complete missions.
It would be thanks to Cid that they receive Omega's message and that they are finally reunited.
After that, Cid would continue to help them locate Tantiss. Cid stays on Ord Mantel, trying to act unconscious as to not bring the attention of the rest of the batch in Pabu.
However she is confronted by CX-2, (who is obviously Tech, I'll die on this HILL!), This time Cid would refuse to her her old habits get the better of her, and she would try to fight him off with her wits.
She would try to trap him on the old mines under, and when she thinks she has bested him, she would ultimately be killed.
Just as she is about to die, Cid takes out a detonator and destroys the cantina and all the information CX-2 could get from the Bad Batch. Honoring her word for once and completing her redemption arc.
This of course is just my opinion and speculation.
I could be reading way too much into this and Cid was never actually supposed to be that deep.
But either way, I just wanted to share these thoughts, as they keep me up at nights sometimes.
Overall, the end is still the same: The Bad Batch ended too early and lots of characters suffered for it.
They deserved better.

Ushijima W. x Chubby fem. Reader. <3
• Ushijima head cannons.
• High school characters/high school setting!
(Thinking of continuing this as these two dating as adults!)
Contains: fluff, embarrassment (from y/n’s side). Ushijima’s POV of you. <3
- A lot of Ushijima’s friends were in shock when they realized that he has a crush on you. He is not a man of many words, but they thought his type would be very different.
- Ushijima fell for how sweet and shy you are. He also absolutely loves your chubby cheeks. He loves to see you laugh because he can see your adorable dimples.
- It did take about 1 month for you to even notice Ushijima. You would never ever think he would want to even be around you.
- Ushijima thought at first that you hated him tbh. You tend to always avoid him.
- Ushijima had to speak to his bestie Tendo about you. It was when Tendo gave him advice to actually confront you.
- Ushijima waits for you after school, knowing he will be late to practice. He didn’t mind tho, he wanted to just speak to you.
- You see him and try to rush away. He finally calls out to your name and has you stop your tracks. “Do I scare you?” He says as you are a hot red mess. “No!” You tend to shout out.
- Ushijima asks for you to wait for him after practice is over to walk you to your home. You agree and you meet him by the front of the school’s entrance.
- You two walk together in complete silence. When he finally opens his mouth to say something, you stop, clenching your fists in frustration. “Are you walking me home because you feel bad for me?” He looks at you wide eyed, a bit confused and shocked. “No Y/N.. I-“ you cut him off. “Is it to make fun of me bec-“ he cuts you off and grabs your right hand.
- “I would never do that to you. I like you Y/N.” He is staring at you and uses a very firm voice. You’re in complete shock.
- “Why? Why would you like someone like me Ushijima-San?” His body moves and pulls you in for a hug. You are so in shock that you stand completely still as his hugs your warm body.
- Ushijima isn’t a guy who goes for looks. He loves your personality. The way you are so intelligent in class, the way you can ramble on and on about K-Drama’s with your friends. He loves your curvy body, he loves how you have a tummy and thicker legs compared to all the other girls.. of course he wouldn’t say that tho.
- As he continues to hug you, not loosening his hold, he says “Please don’t disrespect yourself like that. I like you how you are. I like for who you are. Let me get to know you better.”
- A quiet “yes” is all he hears from you. He is actually shocked you agreed. “I thought you hated me.” He says as he pulls away. You smile shyly, “I don’t. I think you’re pretty cool yourself.”
- Ushijima plans a date to the movies. He gets you a corn dog and popcorn and drinks. You two enjoy the movie and then plan another hang out. Next thing you know, you developed feelings for him.
- You confess your feelings to him a month later. He was a very happy camper.
- Ushijima asks you out one day after school. “Would you like to be my girlfriend?” You didn’t say anything until you said this, “I don’t want to embarrass you. I know being with me can ruin your reputation.”
- Ushijima grabs both your hands having your full attention. “I like you y/n. I don’t care what anyone else thinks. You will be my girlfriend, and I enjoy every thing we do together. Please give me the privilege to be your boyfriend.”
- You shyly agree to his request and earns a kiss on the cheek. You made him a very adorable blushing mess.

Does this sound like Caitlyn? No. Does this sound like Ambessa? Yes.
So you know two characters can do bad things at the same time, right? Caitlyn does sound like your description, though.
A very powerful leader? She may not be physically as strong as Ambessa, but she had all the political and military power after they declared the Martial Law. The Council was either dead or disappeared.
Extremely proud of country and race? Caitlyn does show heavy bias towards Zaun, calling them "animals" and thinking they're all the same.
In which political opposition is not allowed? Well, that's what the Martial Law did, and Caitlyn accepted it. Because Ambessa was a foreigner, no one would've accepted her as the new leader.
Caitlyn did NOT gas the whole fucking Zaun. She ONLY gassed the goons of Silco, people who had a hand in ANYTHING related to shimmer. If she had, Jinx, Isha and Sevika wouldn't be roaming around the streets, WHICH CLEARLY HAD A BLUE SKY AND FRESH AIR.
This is plain wrong. As other people and I have said, you can't control how a gas will spread. She and her team (they're all guilty on this) may have punched and hit them specifically, but the gas affected more people than "only" the bad guys from Zaun. And even then, she took justice by her own hand as a way of revenge, not because she truly wanted to help Zaun. The chem-barons and their followers didn't have a fair trial.
"Caitvi is toxic." Yes. Yes they are. But if you hate them for being toxic then how can you ship ANY other ship in arcane? No other ship in arcane is even remotely healthy.
Jokes on you, I hate all ships in Arcane.
Jinx KILLED Ekko's people. Ekko wanted to KILL Jinx for the longest time. Also, Ekko came back hoping that Jinx and him could be a thing.
As much as I hate Timebomb, their circumstances aren't even remotely the same. Caitlyn and Vi were supposed to be in the same team, they never fought against each other. Jinx and Ekko were enemies for years.
I will INTENTIONALLY put anti tags on this post and EVERY future post where I and talking about pro character. Why? Because that is the audience I want to reach.
Nice 👍
Don't get me wrong, I loved and defended Caitlyn's "evil era", I wanted her to be bad. To be her worst self. And then see her character development. But what we got was...Half baked. We can't say we like grey morally characters if we don't acknowledge the dark part of them. Then they'd stop being morally grey.
What is Fascism?
a political system based on a very powerful leader, state control, and being extremely proud of country and race, and in which political opposition is not allowed
Bibliography:
https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/fascism
Keywords: State control, extremely proud of country and race.
Does this sound like Caitlyn? No.
Does this sound like Ambessa? Yes.
Ambessa, the "milf" for MANY Caitlyn haters, is the Fascist person the dictator over here. So why the fuck are you guys blaming Caitlyn?
Caitlyn did NOT gas the whole fucking Zaun. She ONLY gassed the goons of Silco, people who had a hand in ANYTHING related to shimmer. If she had, Jinx, Isha and Sevika wouldn't be roaming around the streets, WHICH CLEARLY HAD A BLUE SKY AND FRESH AIR.

Jayce BROKE Viktor's promise. He also hurt Viktor with the intention to KILL him.
I will INTENTIONALLY put anti tags on this post and EVERY future post where I and talking about pro character. Why? Because that is the audience I want to reach.

hello! i was wondering if you could tell us about the narration voice, and how to write it? the inside voice of the character that describes how they feel and think. I can't wrap my head around it for some reason, it often feels like i'm rambling too much or Not addressing the meat of the conflict in a way that feels interesting. How detailed should it be? is it better to be direct about what the character thinks and feels, or be kind of vague and trust the reader to figure it out?
This is a great question! This is a very Level Up question, and I love it. Let’s talk bout it!
First of all, quick reminder that there are different kinds of narrative voice. First person (I woke up and I saw…), second person (you wake up and you see) and third person (Alex woke up and she saw). There’s also a distinction within third person of omniscient vs close. Omniscient is when the narrator is sort of the “voice of god,” like a movie camera. In movies, we aren’t in anyone’s head, we’re seeing the world from god’s POV. In omniscient, you can know everything that occurs, regardless of if your main character is there or not. So if Alex and Maggie are in a scene together and it’s omniscient third, it might say things like “Alex smiled, trying to hide her disappointment. Maggie’s heart rose as she smiled back.” We know what BOTH characters are thinking. Close third is the opposite, where you only know what’s happening in the head of the person who is telling the story. So if it’s an Alex POV chapter, you would NOT know that Maggie’s heart rose. It might say, “Alex smiled, trying to hide her disappointment. Maggie smiled back, big and broad, and Alex’s heart sank. Maggie simply isn’t getting her.” We can guess at Maggie’s thoughts from her actions, but we can’t know them.
All of these POV options are good, and all of them have their pitfalls. If you want to explore more about the pros/cons/whens for them, just ask!
But okay, now the meat of the question. Regardless of which POV you’ve chosen, narrative voice, sometimes also called “inner life,” is such an important way to do a bunch of things in your writing. Some of those things are:
Establish character traits and personality. Tell us about this person. What are they like? What do they like? For example, if a car swerves in front of them, what would they do? Yell a curse word? Honk? Pull out a gun? Cry? Have a panic attack? Most of these things will not be said in dialogue, so narrative voice is how we find out.
Tell the reader stuff about the setting/environment in which this character lives. All works have worldbuilding, even if it’s not fantasy or sci-fi. Say your character is walking down the street in chapter one and they notice that what used to be a parking lot is becoming a high-rise apartment building. What do they think about this, and what does it tell us about this place they live? Are they excited because this city is so expensive and they need more affordable housing? Depressed because gentrification is pushing them out of their neighborhood? This is a great way for you not to have to tell us “Development has really changed the economic and racial landscape of this mid-size American city,” which is a boring infodump. Instead, you can say, “Maggie inwardly scoffs at the construction project. She wonders how much longer the wig shops and payday loan storefronts across the street will last, where her abuela will get her nails done if the Whole Foods in this new complex drives every brown shop out of business.”
Demonstrate tension between what they say/do and what they think/feel. No one ever says only and exactly what they think or feel. People are always editing, and some people edit more than others. When they’re sad, what does your character say? How much do they hide it? How well do they hide it? How would they feel if someone knew they were sad? This tells us so much about this person, and also helps build tension and conflict. If Jane is inwardly really upset and hurt because Maura is on a date with someone else, the contrast between what Jane says and what Jane thinks is a big thing that will build the romantic tension between the two of them, especially the unrequited, unspoken romantic feelings Jane has for Maura.
Example: If Maura says, “Jane, I can’t hang out tonight I have a date.”
Does Jane say, “Maura I’m really disappointed to hear that because I have unrequited feelings for you and I wish you paid enough attention to me to notice them. Although, I don’t think I’m good enough for you, so maybe you do know and this is how you’re letting me down easy? I’m not sure, please tell me explicitly.” NO! Of course she doesn’t! She probably says, “Wow. Okay. Have fun.” Or maybe even something kind of snarky like, “Wow, that’s what? Five different guys this month?” The rest happens in narrative voice/inner life.
Maybe like this:
Maura flushes a little. “Jane, I can’t hang out tonight,” she says. Then, after a beat, “I have a date.” Jane’s heart hits the floor. Really? Another date? That’s what, her fifth this month? God, this woman will really do anything with anyone that isn’t named Jane Rizzoli, won’t she? Jane wonders if Maura knows about her (quite obvious) feelings and this is how she’s letting Jane down easy, or if she’s as oblivious as everyone else thinks she is. Jane, deep down in her gut, decides she doesn’t want to know. “Wow,” she says, forcing what must be an unconvincing smile, resolving to take out her anger at the gym later. “Have fun.”
In terms of how detailed you want the narrative voice to be, that depends. Are we talking about something you’re trying to build reader curiosity about—get them hooked and keep them reading—or something you simply want the reader to know? If the former, be vague. If the later, be specific!
Example: You might want to be vague about something mysterious in their backstory. Say the story is from Lena’s POV and the reader—and her love interest Kara—don’t know that her family members are straight up evil people that used the company she now runs for their nefarious, evil purposes. You don’t want to say something like “Lena looked at the pictures on the wall, all the CEO’s of her company that came before her, and shuddered. All of them are her family members, and all of them are guilty of war crimes. She’s ashamed to be affiliated with them in any way, and she’ll die before she tells Kara about it.” That’s not inducing curiosity in the reader, really because you’ve now told them the mystery.
Instead, you might say something like, “Lena, as always, shuddered under the watchful eyes of the portraits of the former CEO’s hung up on the wall in their ornate, gilded frames. She wished she were brave enough to throw the damn pictures in the trash, or more honestly, wished she were brave enough not to let them bother her.” Ooh, suspense. Why? Why does she hate them, why do they make her shudder, why isn’t she able to junk them? And, crucially, we have not said they’re her family. Maybe the escalating reveal will go like this:
Reference 1: Lena shudders (inner life)
Reference 2: Lena calls them evil in her mind (inner life)
Reference 3: alluding to some of their war crimes (inner life)
Reference 4: as much detail as the reader needs to fully understand their evilness (maybe through a dialogue scene)
Reference 5: kara knows about their evilness!!! DRAMATIC TENSION (dialogue)
Reference 6: the big reveal: THEY’RE HER FAMILY MEMBERS dun dun dunnnnnnnn (inner life)
However, for other things, like what does Lena look like or how does she feel the first time she sees Kara? You can just say it, and if you want to, you can also use it to build world or character, like this: “Lena’s always known she was pretty, but as a child she hated her looks because she didn’t resemble her family in any way. Now, as an adult, that’s the one thing she’s immensely grateful for.”
I hope this helps answer your question, and please feel free to ask more questions about this, POVs, managing big reveals, or anything else.

Turn OC Week 2025– Day 1: Not-So Short Bio

Character: Aileen Darcie O’Connor (Feat. One of the shittiest collages I’ve ever made so let’s ignore that! 🤪)
Ahh first and foremost, sorry this post is so late in the day! It’s been a busy one lol. Anyways, when this week was announced I was honestly rather nervous, because Turn fandom events have been SO fun for me every time I’ve done them so far, and I knew I’d love to contribute, but, despite all of the writing I do in this era and the amount of 18th century characters I have, I had never actually made a Turn OC! But, it reminded me that I’ve recently been thinking, as unfamiliar with this sort of shipping as I am, that I could DABBLE in some Ben Tallmadge/OC stuff, and to make a long story short, I decided I’d use this as an excuse to actually develop the OC I’ve had a vague idea of for too long now, so I introduce you all to Aileen O’Connor!
And because I physically cannot be concise apparently, more under the cut!
SO. For the longest time, my vision for Aileen did not go beyond “loud mouthed Irish woman”, but as decidedly accurate as that description is, having an excuse to flesh her out has given me something of an actual sorry I could pursue one day about her, falling pretty in line with that one Turnsgiving post about “what I’d do in Turn” (even though she’s not supposed to be a COMPLETE self-insert, but still)! 😂 Hence why I will try to condense this character to bullet points:
- Aileen O’Connor, like many Irish Americans of the time, never favored the British government. So, her eventual stance as a patriot is no surprise.
- She grew up in Long Island, where her family ended up establishing themselves in Montauk. Her aunt, Rylee O’Connor, ended up marrying a Woodhull related to the rest of the Woodhull family we all know and love(? Maybe not Richard though lmfao), and this is where her connection to the story comes in.
- When she suggests Aileen go on a family trip to Setauket to meet this new, extended family of Rylee’s, Aileen accompanies her because the two have a pretty nice relationship, and who doesn’t love hanging with their Cool Aunt, after all?
- Upon meeting Abraham Woodhull, she figures out (by chance or perhaps by investigation, I haven’t gotten into the intricacies of this part of her arc yet ahahah) his position as a rebel, sees her in to help the cause, and she fucking takes it.
- When she proclaims “Hi hello yes I’d like to offer my services as a spy, please!!” the majority of the ring is just like??? “No???” But Anna of course, who barely knows her, can appreciate a woman wanting to help the cause (despite how few options they would’ve had at the time), and is likely the force that pushed for Aileen to get an opportunity to help, however briefly.
- And what starts as her just being aware of the ring and wanting to shove her nose in everyone’s business (you all Aileen has NO regard for propriety 😭🤡) eventually escalates to her heading off to York City (not side by side with Abe per se but he was probably her way in), and eventually, finds herself— incidentally— at a business called Rivington’s.
- Honestly feel like she and Robert Townsend are like “platonic soulmates” lol, they have a surprising amount in common, and definitely some gay/bi solidarity there.
- To be completely honest with you, I don’t think she’d really change the plot that much, other than being a partner for Ben lmao. 🤡
- Anyhow, personality-wise, she most definitely is a bold, outspoken woman who isn’t skilled at keeping her opinions to herself. As fun as the classic “girlboss” personality trope is, though, unfortunately Aileen’s inability to stop talking is kind of a genuine character flaw of hers but we’ll save that for another day. ;)
Anyways this was definitely NOT short, so my deepest thanks if you actually read this UNIMAGINABLY cliche, cornball yapping! I’m trying to get better at being comfortable being “cringe”, because let’s be totally honest, I think we all have more fun when we spend less time worrying about how we’re perceived, right? ;D
Can’t wait to work out some details of Aileen’s character even further, and share with you other parts of her story that I DO already have a grasp of later on this week! 👀 Thank you SO much for reading once again! 💕
#Turn OC week 2025#turn OC week#Holy fucking SHIT I need to learn how to be concise#but hopefully this is sort of fun to picture or at least made you laugh at how hilariously vague parts of it are lmao#turn amc#turn washington's spies#amc turn#turn washington’s spies#turn: washington's spies#turn: washingtons spies#turn washingtons spies#my stuff

Gaslight, Gatekeep, Girl found dead in a hidden room.
[First] Prev <–-> Next
#poorly drawn mdzs#mdzs#lan xichen#jin guangyao#jiang cheng#wei wuxian#qin su#EDIT: Tumblr published an earlier draft with only half the notes I wrote so: late entry on my JGY thoughts.#Unlike the mystic powers of the stockmarket (what the OG meme is referring to) I think this situation calls for more active investigation.#qin su is such a deeply tragic character to me and I really wish we got a bit more from her.#Love everyone who sent me messages about her after the last time she appeared.#I think she needs a spin off of her being a transmigrator SO badly.#MDZS has so many interesting characters - but it sometimes fails to give them the proper room to really develop past a role in the plot.#That's just the consequence of writing a story like MDZS. Not every character in a book *needs* to have a rich inner life and backstory!#To do so would bog down the story and obliterate any notion of pacing. It's just not possible.#Jin Guangyao (nee Meng Yao) is unfortunately not free from this leeway rule. He is the culprit of this murder mystery plot#and thus NEEDS to encapsulate the themes of the book. And personally he's a 7 out of 10 at best on this front (in the AD).#MDZS is about rumours twisting reality and working towards truth. And about how people & situations are rarely ever black & white#JGY has his motivations. He's well written in regards to his actions making sense for his character.#What started as good traits (drive to succeed & improve his image) became twisted over time (do anything to maintain his image)#and it's a good parallel to WWX! He has the same arc (with different traits)! Bonus points for IGY in that regard.#but man....by the time we confront this guy for murder there's not a lot of grey morality. He's just...deep in the hole *he* dug.#There's a beautiful tragedy to it! More on JGY in later comics - this is getting pretty long already!

there's also guys like Dave Green and Therin of Andor who started as one fan's creation but got picked up by canon. exciting!
Where it gets tricky is where the character in some sense "existed" in canon first.
In visual canons you've got characters like Tumbler (Newsies) or Figwit (LOTR) or Tanabi (Lion King) that appear in the background of scenes with no actual information, so fans made up their own. And sometimes the Powers That Be filled in canon info later ("Figwit is actually an elf named Aegnor"; "that lion cub fans started calling Tanabi is actually Kopa...or Kion... or Kiara") -- but sometimes fans ignore TPTB and stick with the fanon-- or develop new fanon ("Figwit, you mean Melpmomaen?" or "Brett MacKenzie later played Lindir in The Hobbit movies, so maybe Figwit and Lindir are the same guy").
in written canons, you get characters like Musichetta from Les Mis or Daphne Greengass from Harry Potter, where they get mentioned by name and there's *some detail* (Musichetta is so-and-so's mistress; Daphne was a Slytherine at Hogwarts, probably in the same year as Harry) but fandom has invented SO MUCH MORE. These are usually called blank slate characters.
then of course in video games, player characters usually are this by design. I think this generally leads to less cohesion within the fandom because every player is more or less makign their own version of the character, but sometimes you still get trends -- e.g. I've heard that in BG3 there's some popular Fanon Tavs that have fandom followings in their own right.
(what about podcast fandoms, where characters might have very extensive canon backstories and characterizations but visual discriptors, so fans have to make up their own headcanons there?)
Where is the line between "blank slate" and "fanon character"?? How much "prior canon content" disqualifies a character from being "fanon" (what about characters like Draco Malfoy who have quite a lot of canon info & characterization, but sometimes fans make up something else entirely* -- see also Dark!Harry or TINO, plenty more examples of course). What about characters that were initially blank slate but get more canon filled in by later installments, like Hux, who now stars in his own novel, or MCU MJ, who became a much more prominent character in the sequels to Homecoming? (Frankly, taking a look at our list on fanlore I think you could argue a lot of these.) What about situations like Matt the Radar Technician, where an SNL skit about Kylo Ren got spun off by fans as a character in his own right?
===
Fanlore unofficial policy is that Blank Slate characters don't go in the Fanon category (so Musichetta or Daphne Greengrass or Marlene McKinnon are not in there**). But you'll notice that's not followed by everyone -- e.g. the category currently contains ton of Newies characters or Wes (Danny Phantom) who have as much canon content as Figwit.*** So, uh, make your best judgement, I guess, and put a note on the Talk page for help if you want second opinions.
===
*Incidentally, I was aware of this TVTropes page looong before I got into FF7, and now that I've gotten into reading fic (and also watched a letplay of the entire OG game) I am confused by the demonstration image with Sephiroth. Like okay maybe I just haven't seen much of what the pink image is gesturing and I'm substituting what I've mostly seen in fic but it doesn't seem that far outside plausible based on what little we see in the OG game. Well mostly it's the OG game barely does give him any characterization outside of "ominous laughter" and "enjoys tormenting Cloud". Is... is Sephiroth a blank slate character?!?! Surely not.
**Not sure what it says (if anything) that all my examples are female here -- probalby only something about me. I considered mentioning some of the men from that Fanlore list but it's mostly either fandoms I'm unfamiliar with or characters that I would contest (Otabek Altin?!?!? REALLY?!)
***okay i just added Figwit to the Fanon Characters category on the basis of writing this argument lol
Are ocs made for peoples fanfics allowed to be on fanlore?
((im writing one on here//a03 and ill tag u if you want heh))
Not generally no. The only exceptions is if an OC becomes so well known or influential in a fandom that they appear in several fanworks by several people, and knowing that context would be important for that fandom's history.
