this boot company instagram is advertising seems pretty overtly sketchy. like the boots are actually cool enough looking but they are very clearly red wing and danner knockoffs to the point where they are basically lifting copy straight from red wing's website and they might even be using red wing lasts.

Anthony felt the sweat dripping down his neck, the heat of the morning sun already burning into his skin as his shoulder twinged and the ball flew past him.

This was a terrible fucking idea. Terrible. Just take that fucking job at the club and be done with this. Please just be done. If it’s hurting already you’ll never get through the first match. Let alone the tournament.

He loved Wimbledon. He loved everything about it. The smell of the grass and the strawberries and the roar of the crowd. It had always been his favourite tournament. As cliche as that was. He’d said so many times that Wimbledon had been his first Grand Slam and he’d love for it to be his last. He’d been sure that wouldn’t ever happen. That he’d never get a wild card, never get back to where he’d been and now here he was, the tournament not even started yet and he could already feel his shoulder threatening to give way.

He dropped into a crouch, waiting for the ball machine to wind up again, his eyes intently fixed as the ball popped from the machine, flying across the court towards him. He pulled back his arm, and-

“You need to move your feet more.”

Anthony’s concentration broke and he felt the ball clip him on the chin, letting out a yelp of pain and still he wasn’t focused on that. Because Kate Sharma was leaning against the metal fence, watching him curiously. Her dark curly hair was tumbling around her face and she had a sweater draped over her shoulders her sneakers custom printed with her name along the midsole.

Everyone knew Kate Sharma. Well, knew of her at least. She’d burst onto the scene at 16 and won the Australian Open. Her very first grand slam, right out of the gate. Anthony had already been well past whatever part of his career could ever be called the prime and he remembered watching her play with something jealous in his chest for how sure she was of her talent. He’d slipped to world number 93 by then which he supposed was a damn sight better than where he was now.

Anthony clutched his chin, covertly looking behind him to make sure she’d actually been asking to him, “I’m sorry?”

Kate dropped her racquet bag and another ball flew past him. “Are your feet glued to the floor?”

Anthony couldn’t help but gape at how bold she was as she crouched in front of her bag, her legs long in her bike shorts. “Not…today.”

He could have sworn he heard her chuckle as she dropped her sweater to the ground and pulled out her racquet, checking the strings. She mimicked his voice, “Not today.” She turned off the ball machine when she reached the other side of the court, stood in her shorts and sports bra, her hair still loose. “Are there days where they are?”

Anthony blinked at her, “Sorry… what are you…?”

“You’re not going to get anywhere with a ball machine.” She said it as if it as obvious.

“Do you even know who I am?”

He hated to say it but she was at least a decade younger than he was and she might very well not have any idea. Kate raised her eyebrow, “I know who you are, Anthony. Are you going to serve? You could use the one that hit you.”

Anthony rolled his eyes, picking up the ball “Don’t even want to tie your hair back?”

Kate chuckled, the noise echoing across the court, “No. I won’t be sweating. Don’t worry, Anthony, I’ll take it easy on you. I’ll use one hand and everything.”

Some 23 billion pairs of shoes are made every year and, eventually, 22 billion of them will end up in landfill because they are so challenging to recycle. Hilos, a company specialising in 3D-printed footwear, is working to reduce waste with a platform that creates footwear on demand.

Hilos’ technology combines the outsole, midsole, and insole into a single 3D printable unit. This allows the company to increase production speed and easily customise both style and size. A study conducted with Yale University produced an environmental evaluation of 3D printed footwear and concluded that Hilos generates half the emissions and uses 99% less water than traditional footwear manufacturing. Plus, the printed products can be easily disassembled at the end of their life for recycling.

Debuted earlier this year at Milan Design Week, the company has now launched its new ‘Studio OS’ platform, an AI-powered, no-CAD 3D design platform that makes it even easier for brands and independent designers to turn ideas into products. Using inputs like a sketch, mood board, or loose prompt, the cloud-based platform generates a 3D file of the chosen design.

This design can be easily tweaked, and users can order a sample of the 3D-printed final product before officially launching. The system allows users to rapidly and sustainably create as few as 100 pairs of shoes on demand, and lines created on Studio OS can either be printed by Hilos’ supply chain partners or directly on the user’s factory floor.

I'm SO excited to hear you're working now on JeanPiku and AruAni's double date! (And me too, actually!) Looking forward to seeing your result!

Thank you for asking this question, and I'll try to advise something, based on what I usually use:

don't try to imagine just the shoe - sketch roughly the feet itself firstly. No need to do it too detailed, just the lines with the feet silhouette to settle the direction;

as it's sneakers we're talking about, so they're much larger than other types of shoes, so when you start sketching the outline for the sneaker make it bigger, not too drastically, but enough to see the difference between your bare feet sketch and sneaker sketch;

the sneaker sketch itself - don't focus too much on details here, and concentrate only on the shapes and directions line. Here the earlier drawn feet will help to understand how to place the shapes + directions + use reference to help you to visualise how to place it;

if now your rough sketch looks more or less like a shoe - that's great! You can check if your sneaker has the instep arch, the difference at the top of the sneaker for different toe balls etc;

only now, if you're satisfied with the shape, move to the details - adding the midsole (keep in mind that it's a part inside the silhouette of the sneaker, not outside, so that's why I mentioned earlier that it's important to make the shape bigger; tongue, shoelaces etc

So... This is pretty much what I can do to advise, I hope it was a bit of a help for you, Ce! Good luck with this art and I'm very excited to see it (but no rush, of course)

Robin probably has one pair of shoes he wears over and over and over, he draws on them too. So by the time he somehow DOES get new ones, his current ones are literally ripped, drawn on, faded colored, and probably barely hanging on by a thread.

Robin would have an attachment to any shoes he gets.

Robin grew up in a household with sadly low income, so he couldn’t buy clothes or shoes or other stuff often. When he got the chance to buy new pants, shirts, sweaters, and even shoes, Robin spent a lot of time considering his options, since they could only afford to get one or two things every time they went clothes shopping for him. He wanted to get something that was affordable but he liked a lot, so he would wear it more often.

He got a new pair of shoes just a few months before his mom passed. Since his uncle had custody after she passed, chances of buying new things grew slimmer, but Robin didn’t mind. He wore those shoes everywhere, at every moment, because he felt an attachment since his mom got them for him.

Robin drew on those shoes, he walked through snow, mud, grass, and rain puddles with those shoes, he scuffed them on the pavement, he would kick the people who wronged him in those shoes, he was in the basement with those shoes.

Other kids would make fun of the fact that Robin only had those beat up and worn out shoes, but Robin didn’t care. He especially gave no mind, because when Finn said it was cool he wore something with sentimental value, Robin forgot every other word that other kids had said.

Robin’s next pair of shoes were actually gifted to him by Griffin. Griffin saw how beat up Robin’s shoes were, and he heard Robin lament about how they soon wouldn’t fit him any more. When they all escaped the basement, Griffin saved up allowance money to buy Robin a new pair of shoes. Griffin bought those shoes, and he personalized them; carefully made for Robin.

Griffin put stickers of Robin’s initials on the midsole of the shoe. He would use beads he normally used for friendship bracelets, and put them on the shoelaces, specifically Robin’s favorite colors. (griff was before the trends yall /j)

When he gifted them to Robin for his birthday, Robin literally broke down into tears. Griffin thought Robin was upset, but his fears were pushed aside when Robin hugged and thanked him.

Robin started wearing the new shoes he got, but he made sure to literally never throw out his old ones. He kept them safe in a box in his closet, and would look at them sometimes and think of how long he wore them. Even as he wears new shoes, he still appreciates his old ones.
