What bothers me about the whole good/bad taste in music thing, is that art, and music in particular, is so deeply personal. It is meant to make you feel something, so it’s going to be different for every person. I have a good friend who is super into the sound and production of an album, whereas I care much more about lyrics. There are times that he absolutely loves an album that I hate and vice versa. Neither of us are wrong, we just resonate with different things.
I’ll always love FOB and Taylor Swift, because their lyrics consistently give me FEELINGS and that’s what I want out of an album. If previous anon has some music recommendations, I’d love to hear them. I just think it’s so weird to feel superior about something as subjective as music taste.
I actually do not want to invite the previous anon to share music recommendations, and like maybe that's snobby but I don't care what they like having insulted me.
I was thinking more about that last night 'I love you but-' and how in the moment I was annoyed because you don't know me, so you obviously don't love me.
But my best friend in the whole world/platonic soul mate DOES love me and you know what she hates? Fall Out Boy. And when I was trying to find someone to go with me when they announced their tour, she was like, I'll go. Just like Taylor Swift, who she's also not a fan of (she asked me if I would dress her at brunch last week and I'd never been happier) (when the first date came by and we had a set list, I sent it to her and she's been memorizing all the songs). She was like, tell me what to wear and what songs I need to know.
Don't tell me you love me and then insult me or try and make me feel bad when I know what love feels like and how the people around me respond to not enjoying the same things as me. It's actually very possible to like different things without being a snob about it
#mr mb once told me he didn't think our relationship would work because we had so little in common#he doesnt like fob or ts either#and that idiot married me like- its totally fine to like different things sorry you didnt get that memo#and i know if whatever obscure band previous op likes got popular it would be “bad” tooo

Hidden polygamy relationship with Kelly and Jay.
"When are you two going to have kids? I cant wait to see a baby Severide running around". Gabby gushed, she couldnt wait to be a aunt again. But you and Kelly haven't even started to think about kids. You just got married a year ago.
"That's way in the future, Gabby. We just want to have fun and enjoy this newlywed life". You hugged Kelly's arm.
"It'll happen just not now". Kelly told her.
"Fine, I just cant wait to squeeze those little cheekies". She went to squeeze you cheeks but you swatted her hand away with a annoyed laugh.
"We're going to head home, Gabby. See you tomorrow". Kelly waved and you two headed home after a long day at work and the constant pressure of having kids.
Getting him you saw Jay's car in the driveway. Fortunately he avoided the Gabby attack.
"Hey baby". He scooped you into a hug and kissed your neck. Moaning into the embrace.
"She needs some love. Gabby asked her again when shes having kids". Kelly jumped over the couch and landed on it.
"Who's taking one for the team"? Jay chuckled as he brought you over to the couch and sat you down beside Kelly before taking a seat beside you.
"I'm just not ready for a kid right now. I can barely handle you two". You joked.
"We are not that bad". Kelly gasped.
"Dont even start. You two can't pick up after yourselves or put anything away that's yours. It's like pulling teeth when I ask you to take your plate to the kitchen. Kids are going to be just like you two".
"Alright. Enough about kids. How was your day"? Jay pulled your legs on his lap.
"It was fine. You were there. Antonio on my back about life insurance and Gabby on my back about kids. It's like a circus in the Dawson family". You sighed when Jay rubbed your feet.
"Life insurance"? Kelly questioned.
"Yeah, just to be safe if anything happened to either of us. I guess we all should go see someone so we're all taken care of".
"That seems like a smart idea".
"I dont even want to think about losing either of you". You held onto Kelly and Jay's hand.
"You're not going to lose us. We promise". Kelly reassured you. But he didnt know the future.
"I'm tired about thinking about this". You laid down on Kelly as Jay continued your foot massage. Slowly drifting off.
The next morning you drove to work and headed into the station. Jay was already there doing paper work he forgot yesterday. You sighed as you sat down. Kelly texted you to say he got to work safely and he was making dinner.
"Y/N". You could hear Gabby yell coming up the stairs. She was starting her attack early this morning.
"Not this early, Gabby. I cant take anymore baby talk". You groaned as she pulled a chair up to your desk
"But hear me out. I'll be there to help and babysit. You can go out whenever. You'd make a great parent". She went on.
"Gab, why dont you leave her alone about kids. She just got married, let her do her thing". Jay piped in and the look on Gabbys face said rage.
"Why dont you butt out, Halstead? You're not in this conversation or this family. So what does it matter"? Gabby turned in her seat staring Jay down.
"I may not be in your family. But Y/N is dear to me and a great friend. Look at her, shes miserable when you nag and be on her back all the time". Jays stepping up made a smile come to your face. No one knew about Jay. That was yours, Kelly's and Jay's secret.
"Just shut up, Jay. Can I ask you a question"?
"Sure". He was prepared for anything thrown at him.
"What's with the band on your ring finger? You're not married so why wear it"?
"Someone that loves me greatly gave this to me as a symbol of their love and trust. So I'm going to wear it and never take it off. See it wont come off". He playfully tried to take his wedding ring off but it wouldnt come off his finger.
"You're an idiot, Jay". Gabby scoffed.
"Listen, Gabby. I have tons of work to do and I need you to not bother me at work. Antonio is already doing that. Dont go bother Kelly neither. He needs to concentrate on his work. Not you demanding us have kids". The shock on her face was priceless. Her little sister standing up to her and Jay standing up for you was something she wasn't expecting today when she came in.
"Fine, I'll see you later". She rolled her eyes and headed down the stairs.
You hurried over to Jay's desk and grabbed him by the shirt collar. He giggled like a girl as you both headed into the break room. Being the only two in the office that early had advantages.
"You were so hot standing up to Gabby like that. Had me soaking wet". You kissed Jay's neck pushing up his shirt. Your hands running down his chest.
"I'd do anything for you and our family". He moaned when your hand went into his pants, squeezing his cock.
"Anything"? A smirk crept on your face.
"Anything". He growled picking you up and sitting you on the table, pushing your skirt up around your hips.
Jay quickly unfastened his pants letting them fall around his ankles. You pulled your panties to the side and Jay eased into your wet hole.
Wrapping your legs around Jay's waist. He leaned you back and started pounding deep and long strokes in to you. His lips traveled across your chest, leaving hickeys along your body.
Your hand untangled into his hair as the other covered your mouth as your moans grew louder.
While Jay explored your body with his mouth, hands and cock. Gabby went exploring herself. More like snooping. Last Christmas you gave her a key to let herself in when you weren't home to wrap presents for Kelly and the fire station. Jay hadn't moved in yet so there wasn't now worry. But you totally forgot to get it back from her.
She closed the door and started looking around. Everything seemed normal until she got to looking at the pictures on the wall and fireplace. There was you, Kelly and Jay at the beach. The three of you at the park, at your wedding. At a different wedding with you and Jay kissing.
"What the hell"? Gabby was confused beyond belief. She walked down the hallway and into the bedroom. There was three dressers. One for Kelly, Jay and you. Three toothbrushes in the bathroom. A giant king size bed. Three pairs of slippers in the closet.
She didnt understand at all. Why was Jay living with you and in your relationship? Gabby wanted answers and she waited until you got home to get the answer.
"I'm make chicken alfredo tonight". Kelly unlocked the door while you and Jay helped bring in the groceries.
"Hello, you three". Gabby startled all three of you at the door.
"What the heck are you doing in my house, Gabby"?
"Why are you kissing Jay in this picture? Who's wedding was this"? She held up the picture.
"You had no right". You gritted your teeth.
"You're my sister, I have the right to protect you".
"By snooping into my life? Our life"?
"We're married". Jay spoke up, he figured it was already out in the open.
"But you're married to Kelly. I was there".
"I married Jay in a secret ceremony. Just the three of us. I love Jay and I love Kelly. We're happy and we make it work. Why couldnt you just leave it alone"?
"Because its not right. Now I see why you dont want to have kids. You wont know who the father is".
"Hey! You will not talk to her like that, Gabby. This is our life, if you can't accept that then you need to leave". Kelly ordered. He wasn't having anyone talk to you like that.
"Fine". She huffed and walked past you.
"I'm sorry". You said to Kelly and Jay.
"Its not your fault. Not everyone is going to like our relationship. We're here, that's all that matters". Kelly and Jay kissed your head.
"Yeah".
Kelly and Jay went to put the groceries away and started dinner. You sat on the couch looking at your wedding pictures.
Nothing or no one was going to change how you felt towards Jay and Kelly. You weren't hurting anyone and you all were happy. That's all that should matter.

Hello JWB, I hope you're fine. I think you've answered this before, sorry couldn't find it. Actually me and my friend was having a debate as she thinks Arnav cheated on La, she said, "La was everything Arnav wanted yet Arnav liked someone else and happily moved on, this is cheating". Is it really wrong if you like someone else although your present partner is a lovely person? Would love to read your thoughts. Thanks in advance and your blog is my happy happy happy space <3 Lot's of love :)
Hello Anon <3
Sorry for the late reply - lots of things happening which is why there's a delay to every ask!
Wants, desires, likes change over time and experience. What I wanted at 15 is very different from 19 and monumentally different at 24.
For the cheating part and Arnav-La's relationship in general you might be interested in this and this. Also the following are my thoughts and everyone is entitled to their own :)
Arnav & Lavanya's Relationship - Take 2
Is it really wrong if you like someone else although your present partner is a lovely person?
Absolutely not. It's actually very common to find someone else interesting even if you're in a relationship - and often that's healthily dealt with because the passing interest usually does not even hold a candle next to the solid relationship one has (and the relationship should be multifaceted and have friendship, trust, love, communication and understanding as one of its many pillars).
The problem here is Arnav fell in love/lust/was intensely attracted to Khushi while being in a relationship with Lavanya and his interest to Khushi did not just rival his feelings for Lavanya but was incredibly more intense and powerful than what he felt for Lavanya.
His and Lavanya's relationship was what he put it to Anjali - convenient. Lavanya understood him, Lavanya and he shared similar ideologies about the future and level of commitment to this relationship (which he thought, I believe La - knowing him - probably hid her deeper desires around him). And we must credit Anjali for being the first to point out that Arnav didn't exactly get himself and his reasons for making his commitment with La more serious wasn't on his wish to have a future with her but for the sake of his ego.
It does not mean he was not attracted or in 'love' with Lavanya.
As Arnav is emotionally avoidant and usually defers from deep commitments (does not mean he lacks morality), Lavanya was what he could think love was at that point of time. There was understanding, attraction, a level of trust and comfort with a barely-there hint of humor.
And Arnav thought he loved her - if that's what love is.
Also, Arnav totally did not see any future with Khushi. Every single minute he was torn because (1) Wtf is happening with him (2) He's committed (3) There's no 'ArShi' because they are wildly different people with no similar grounds (4) A girl like Khushi would want marriage and Arnav would never want that
And those things change because (1) Khushi and he are very similar (2) People can grow differently despite similar traumas (3) The attraction was reciprocated (subconsciously tho) (4) Arnav startlingly realizes he doesn't mind being with Khushi in whatever form of commitment when he learns of her engagement and gets into this rut of constantly competing with her 'fiancé' and proving to her that he's better than that guy - so essentially she should be engaged to him.
He is definitely emotionally cheating Lavanya during and post Diwali.
The mistakes that Arnav made during his relationship with Lavanya was:
- Telling her to move in, therefore raising La's hopes of the relationship, where in fact Arnav was trying to quell Nani's efforts of getting him married.
- Allowing his family to change La and make her a 'Raizada bahu' because of his sister's tears - thus not seeing the conflict that might arise when La becomes one with the family but not one with him.
- NOT communicating with La constantly and respectfully about the boundaries of this relationship, what the Raizada's are, how his family is eager to get him married off, what are the ideals/values the Raizada's cherish, etc.
- NOT taking a stand for La where it mattered. There's a difference between getting upset for the shit Nani pulled versus questioning the family's idiotic plans. Isn't it sanskaari to accept bahu as daughter? Then why doesn't Lavanya get respect or accepted? How sanskaari is it to constantly judge someone by the length of their dress?
- NOT breaking up with Lavanya the minute he realizes his interest for Khushi is beyond a passing interest (I'm a bit kinder to him here cause Arnav couldn't take the risk of breaking up with his family's pressure in getting him married and it took him some good time to understand that Khushi is beyond a fanciful thought).
- NEVER communicating to Lavanya when he felt their relationship falling, his feelings weakening, the distance widening or that this relationship might come to an end.
Their breakup though, was one of the most beautiful scenes in the show. There was respect, honesty, truth, apology and it was Arnav. Not ASR. No ego. Just Arnav who realized he had misled La all along. He does not hide behind his denial for Khushi, knows La does not deserve this and knows not to give La any more false promises.
It is that specific scene that reaffirms my belief that he never meant to cheat on her and once he realized that his feelings for Khushi would remain the same and he is cheating on La regardless - he immediately broke up.
There is a big difference between actively cheating someone and realizing that you have been emotionally cheating your partner unintentionally.
This is one of the rare moments in the show where intention mattered.
It's what makes Arnav different from Shyam.
I hope this answered your question!
Love,
- JWB
P.S: One of the most wonderful things about this relationship is that it's not shown Arnav was never in love with La to show he's in love with Khushi. No. Arnav was not in love with La was very evident to all of us because his personality was as such and this was a relationship that would've broken regardless of Khushi in their lives.

To say you were surprised to end up at an elementary school would be an understatement. Dean’s group of fascinating people were the kindergarten classes. He even had plastic fireman hats for them, and of course an extra one for you.
The kids were so caught up in his speech about fire safety and the important things to remember if there ever is a fire. He was so good with them and kept them all interested. He finished his presentation talking about Christmas trees and how they should all make sure their parents keep them watered, so the lights don’t catch them on fire.
Dean took questions at the end. Some of the boys wanted to know what it was like to drive the fire truck, someone asked if it was fun to slide down the pole. They were disappointed when Dean told them there wasn’t one where he worked. One little girl at the end ran up and gave him a great big hug before you guys left. He was so adorable with her.
When you left there Dean asked if you were interested in helping him pick out tiles for the kitchen backsplash. You didn’t have anything else to do and had been enjoying helping him with the house so you agreed.
Getting to the store he had three different ones selected and had you help him decide. After the paint he trusted your opinion on the color selection.
They had enough in stock of your choice to let you two get started on it when you got home. The rest would be in soon. You had a system worked out, you put the mastic on the back and Dean applied the tile to the wall.
That afternoon Dean headed into work for another 24 hour shift. The second call of the afternoon was for a house fire. Thankfully for the residents it was mostly contained to one room, just the living room. But that room had a bit of damage done.
Hoping out of the truck back at the station he asks, “Okay who seriously is going to BBQ a turkey in the fireplace. And plan on doing it twice because this was just going to be a test run before Christmas?”
“It’s the Holidays,” Bobby stated. “People are going to be doing crazy things. You’ve been here a few years don’t you know this by now.”
“That is true. Y/N and I were talking about that earlier after we left the school presentation.”
“Wait, WE, left the presentation? Did you take her with you?” Benny wanted to know.
“Well,”
“She’s living with him now, didn’t you know that?” Sam asks him.
“What, really?” Benny couldn’t believe it.
“She moved in a couple days ago.”
“Wow, you two move fast.”
“It’s not like that you idiots. She got kicked out of her condo and had nowhere else to go, and she already got fired because of me. I’m just giving her a place to stay till she figures things out. The house has the room. Our dogs get along great.”
“Is that why Miracle isn’t here?” Cas wants to know.
“Yeah, Y/N’s taking care of him and Dean. He’s falling in love.”
“Who Dean or Miracle?” Cas questions Sam.
“Dean, probably both. She is very easy to like.”
“You’ve met her, besides that day she was in here?” Benny wanted to know.
“Yeah, Dean called me to help move her.”
“I would have helped the nice pretty girl move, why didn’t you ask me to help?”
“I’m not sure packing would have been the only thing you tried with her, Benny. I just found her again, I’m not letting you scare her off.”
“He didn’t deny the love.” Sam says with a smile.
“I’m not falling in love with anyone, bitch.” Dean shakes his head at the whole thing as he removes his gear.
“I’m sorry, my jerk of a brother, is falling in love, but he doesn’t know it yet.”
“That can’t be true Dean, come on man. I look up to you, playing the field avoiding commitment, a constant string of beautiful women.”
“It’s not true, we aren’t falling in love, not dating. I still don’t do commitment, and never getting married.”
“So what are you doing with Miracle if you don’t do commitment?” Bobby asks as he takes off his coat.”
“Temporary long termish house guest.”
“Uh huh.”
“I told him when the house is sold he’s on his own.”
“Let us know how that works out in a couple of months, you idjit.”
“I’m calling your bluff with the girl. Can you say no to these three things.”
“Really Cas?”
Cas ignores Dean and continues on, “ You live with her? That’s a yes. Two, you spend all your free time with her? Yes.”
“Well.”
“Three, you think about her when you aren’t with her? Yes,”
“No, no, you have it all wrong. Like I said she is only staying till she gets back on her feet. We are getting to know each other so we hang out, but only because she’s already there.”
“Getting to know each other like you would if you were dating someone?”
“Shut it Sam.”
“Are you saying he is falling in love? The legend, is human after all?” Benny questioned.
“No, I’m not falling in love. Y/N is a temporary roommate. That’s it.”
“Man, you are like five minutes away from marrying this girl.” Sam tells him.
“I hate you all.” Gear off Dean leaves them behind to take a shower.
“Keep telling yourself that!” Bobby yells after him.
Wandering around Dean’s house alone while he was at work, you got to thinking. There was one thing you were really missing this close to Christmas, and it was something you didn’t think you would be able to have this year. A Christmas tree.
When Dean gets home the next afternoon you bring it up.
“I was wondering if you were going to get a Christmas tree this year?”
“Usually don’t. I don’t think I’ve had one in a few years.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, I haven’t seen a reason too. I buy a house, fix it up and sell it. Usually I don’t stay in one long enough. I don’t do much for the Holidays. Why do you ask?”
“I was thinking maybe we could get a tree? I have a little artificial tabletop tree, but wouldn’t it be nice to have a real one? To have that Christmas smell when you walk in the door?”
“If you like real ones so much why didn’t you already have one in your place?”
“It was against the bylaws. Apparently too much of a fire liability.”
“That didn’t stop you with Dakota.”
“The tree can’t be hidden quickly like she was. She was worth risking it for.”
“You really want to get a tree?”
“Please, it helps it feel more like Christmas. If you don’t want one I understand.”
Dean threw his head back and sighed. “Fine we can go get a tree. I think there is a tree lot near the station that hasn’t sold out yet.”
“Let’s go to a tree farm, get the whole experience.”
“You’ll be the death of me Sweetheart.”
Dean didn’t have to work at all the following day, so after breakfast the two of you headed out to the Christmas tree farm. Dressed in warm clothes and boots you were ready to walk all around the 8 acre tree farm if you needed to, just to find the right tree. There was a wagon ride that took you around to the different types of trees. Dean and you got off in the back lot figuring you could walk your way toward the entrance.
“There’s a tree,” Dean points out as you start walking down the first row.
“Yes, and it’s also like four foot tall. It’s still growing, let the baby be.”
“Okay, miss Christmas tree expert. How do you pick the perfect Christmas tree?”
“It’s really pretty scientific you know.”
“Oh really? Please do explain it to me.”
You laughed at his expression. He had turned to you with wide eyes and a cheeky little grin. Like he was going to absorb whatever you said. “You dork.” Heading over to a tree you reach for a branch pulling your hand back toward you slowly. “First you need to check the freshness. If the needles stay on when you do that it’s good.”
You drop your hand to the side, “Then you need to inhale deeply and see how it smells.”
Dean did just that, “It smells like a tree.”
“Okay, but does it smell Christmassy.”
“Christmassy? Pretty sure you just made that word up.”
“Nope it’s totally in the dictionary.”
“Okay, Webster. Then what does it mean?”
“To be filled with Christmas spirit.”
Dean just stared at you for a moment. “You think a tree is going to smell like it’s filled with Christmas spirit? Just wondering if you were drinking before I got up this morning?”
“Oh come on, it’s that fresh cut pine smell that fills the whole place and makes it feel like Christmas.”
“Whatever you say, I’ll leave the nose work to you. What is step three?” He wants to know as you two walk down the lane looking at the trees around you.
“The lean test. You need to look at a tree straight on, then lean to the right and to the left, then stand back up straight. You don’t want a tree that is leaning too hard one way and is crooked.” You stop to inspect a tree, but continue on down your way.
The fourth step is checking the trunk and making sure nothing is wrong with it. Sometimes the tree might be straight but that isn’t. Or it could have a double one that won’t fit in a tree stand.”
“Height is important too. Your ceilings are fairly high so we could get a foot tree no problem.”
Dean is just smiling listening to you go on about trees while you walk through the lot. “Yep that is extremely scientific.”
You two stopped and looked at different ones but kept going. There was one you stuck a stick up in top of to mark if you didn’t find anything else you liked. Around an hour into your search you stopped in your tracks. Dean was lost in his thoughts and took him a moment to notice.
“That’s the one.”
“The one?”
“Yep, that’s the tree we should get.”
“There is only one? How do you know it’s the one? What if you are wrong, but you’ve already committed to it? What happens then, fighting and hurting the kids?”
“You lost me, Dean.”
“I um,” He just realized what all came out of his mouth. “I mean it’s a great tree. Let’s get that one.”
“You sure you are alright?”
“Yep great. Hold that steady, till I need you to push a little, will you?”
While you were helping to hold the tree from moving too much Dean got on the ground and started sawing back and forth till he had it lying on the ground. You couldn’t help but notice the muscles in his arms as he worked.
The two of you carried the tree toward the path in the hopes the wagon would be around soon and you wouldn’t have to carry it all the way to the front. Thankfully only about five minutes later you could hear it coming around. Up at the front they shook and bagged the tree for you.
They also had Santa, and some petting animals around.
“Did you want to go tell Santa your Christmas wish?” You asked Dean.
“You know, I already saw him this year. He and I are pretty tight.”
“Really?”
“Yep.”
After seeing the animals you hopped in his truck and headed to the store. Neither of you had a stand that would fit the newly bought tree. With that accomplished you were on your way back to the house. Getting the tree inside it was set up in the living room not to far from the fire place, but not near enough to catch any sparks that may pop out.
Dean didn’t have any decorations in the house, but you had some you had been saving. After the lights were on you went to the kitchen to make some hot chocolate for the two of you and pulled out some of the peanut butter blossom cookies you made the day before. Coming back Dean still hadn’t turned on the tv so you asked if you could. Finding the different music channels you finally came across a Christmas one.
The two of you were enjoying the music and each other’s company as you decorated the tree.
It was late afternoon by the time everything was done and cleaned up. You offered to start dinner and Dean came in to help you. The two of you working easily in the newly finished kitchen.
After dinner you two retired back to the living room turning off the lights in the room and just letting the tree shine. There was a roaring fire going, The Santa Clause 2 playing on tv. Chet had to be one of your favorite reindeer in training. It was very relaxing.
After the movie Dean mutes the television and turns to you. “Thank you for suggesting the tree. It’s actually really nice to have it. I don’t remember the last time I truly enjoyed Christmas. My parents fought a lot when we were little after the fire, before and after separating. After we lost them it was just Sam and I. Both of us just worked double shifts on Christmas at the station so others could have the time off. Now Sam has Jess so he works part of the day, but doesn’t do a double anymore so he can spend time with her and her family.
He looks around at the decorations on the mantle, “I wouldn’t be opposed if you had some other small decorations you wanted to get out too.”
“Okay, I’ll see what I have that won’t be in the way.”
He turns the volume back up and the two of you settle back to watch another movie.
Thank you for reading!

What would be your OCs ideal "meet-cute"? Like how did they plan to meet their darling in a way that would attract them to the boys? Or did it happen by pure coincidence?
love the ask! Prepare for chaos cause I like seeing them struggle
Also omg you gave a request Im so happy I think you're so cool and i like seeing you on my notifications so please like and request more stuff if you want to ahhhh💖-
This story contains: talk of stalking, yandere behavior, talk of sex (sorry it's prince...sex is always on his mind)
Theodore
Oh he's smart
He knows exactly how he wants to set up
He first saw you in your favorite bakery and from then on it was a done deal
His five years of stalking you has paid off
He knows almost everything at this point
He wanted it to be romantic and something out of a romance movie
But- he's still a bit of a dummy at times and it didn't go exactly how he wanted it to
He's played this out in his head about 100 times, he has done everything he has to in order to get everything to work out in his favor, so why did this have to happen?
His plan was to walk in ten minutes before you did at the bakery, he would pretend to be unsure of what to get then once you walk in he waits exactly two minutes before asking what exactly you would get sounding as lost and clueless as possible
out of the kindness in your heart you will respond and he will charm his way to getting your number, even though he already has it. That was the plan but you never did show up to the bakery so he panicked and went to your house to look for you
Were you kidnapped? Sick? What was going on?! He has rushed to your place now right infront of the door only for it to swing open and for you to crash into him falling ontop of him, okay?
You were frazzled and flustered, you must have woken up late. He looked at you and felt his cheeks turning red as you scrambled up and he picked up his glasses
"i-im so sorry! I just crashed into you i didnt see you"
This wasn't exactly how he expected it but he can use this, sure it wasn't the same but it was alright he can work with this.
"ah, it's quite alright. Though I'm sorry to say but my ankle isn't doing so well"
"holy shit, I'm sorry! So you need help?!"
You helped him up and as theodore leaned on you slightly he shuddered at the scent of you, absolutely delicious.
"sorry, I'm so rude I'm theodore"
"I'm the rude one here, it's [y/n]. do you live around here or something? I feel responsible so let me help by getting you home"
Theodore smiled and adjusted his glasses as he faked the pain in his ankle, it was a little embarrassing having to pretend to be pathetic but his first plan flew out the window and this was all he had left
"live just down the road, thank you for such kindness"
He smiled and knew that he wormed his way into your life, sure it wasn't how he wanted but he was in no rush.
Hikaru
He has to be careful
He's famous after all
He has an image to maintain so he can't be all creepy and stalk you
He pays people to do that
He first saw you at one of his photoshoot sites and he just couldn't help but fall
He really honestly just wants to walk up to you and say hi
But a crowd of people would be on him I minutes so maybe not
He decided to wear a hat and mask
He honestly is so self centered he just wanted to say hi and expected you to swoon
Hikaru adjusted the mask now walking into the book store where he saw you walk into just moments before, plan was to casually find you and bump into you before revealing himself and next thing you know you are jumping into his arms!
So he did just that, walked into the book store, saw you and "accidentally" bumped into you causing the book in your hand to fall
"oh I'm sorry, how clumsy of me"
"no no it's fine! Accidents happen y'know?"
Hikaru smirks before pulling down his mask while picking up the book, his eyes shining with a charming gaze as he looked at you
"how about I make it up to you with some yummy food"
"oh! You're that model from the magazines!"
Yeah baby now come jump into-
"that's sweet but I'm good it's truly fine"
Excuse me bitch?
Hikaru felt his body twitch now fighting the urge to turn his charming grin into a harsh scowl, what the actual hell!? Do you not see how hot he is?! God why the fuck did he fall in love with such a dumbass?!
"o-oh well, how about I pay for your book? I like this book as well so it's only fair"
"you like 'elmo goes to wonderland?'"
Hikaru twitched once more as he glanced down at the book you had dropped and felt his eye twitch with annoyance, why were you buying this?!
"it's for my friend's sister if you were wondering, if you're still up for it let's have that food I want some red bean buns!"
Okay..so that worked?!
Hikaru didn't understand why him being a total idiot wooed you but okay?!
"names [y/n] by the way, I'll let my friend know that you love elmo I'm sure she has more books for you"
Your joke wasn't funny and hikaru now wanted to kiss and strangle you at the same damn time. He feels so embarrassed but at the same time happy.....but the real thing he's thinking is why the hell did I fall for this idiot?!
Prince
Okay so he really just wanted to get into your pants
Like really wanted to get in there
Until he started to stalk you and saw how you acted
That's when he fell for you
He has no idea how to court anyone so he has no idea what the hell to do
This was a whole different game that he didn't know how to play
You were different than the strippers and party loving people he hangs with
You two met out of pure fate
Your friends were forcing you to go out for your birthday to a bar
The bar he worked at
His heart was about to burst
He wanted to say hi soooo bad but your friends were flirting with him hard
He figured if he got them drunk they will pass out
So he did exactly that while leaving you tipsy
He's been bartending for a while so he knows how to do this kinda stuff
Once he strikes up a conversation with you he's so happy
"so, you don't exactly look like one of my normal customers"
"what exactly does your normal customers look like?"
Prince grinned at you as he fixed you another drink before placing it infront of you, giving you a sly wink
"nothing like you doll face, you're too cute and I've never seen your face trust me I would remember a face like yours"
He prayed to God his flirting works cause that's the only trick he's got. He watched you laugh as you took a sip of your drink and he knew he wanted to marry you on the spot
"smooth, but you'll have to try a little harder than that"
"alright well, what's your name?"
"[y/n], why whose askin?"
Prince flashed a huge grin as he leaned down his arms rested against the bar as he eyed you up and down.
"prince is the name, so ever wanted to get behind a bar before?"
"won't you get into trouble for that?"
"I won't tell if you won't"
Sexual tension was HIGH
Prince was ready!
then..you fell asleep
Damn it he got you too drunk, with a long sigh he leaned back now feeling the biggest blue balls in his entire life, he decided it was time to take you home so he did exactly that.
Getting into your place was far too easy and he reminded himself that when you two stsrt dating he has to tighten security around here, he laid you in the bed before placing a soft kiss onto your cheek and leaving but not before writing his phone number and name on a napkin and placing it on your nightstand
Axis
Okay so I've talked about how dumb axis is
But he is like...reallllyyyyy dumb
Poor boy was so excited when he first met you before falling in love
He met you at an art store
He needed help on picking the right color and you popped up
Your voice made him giggle and your smell made him drool
He was in LOVE!
He wanted to meet you again
So he showed up at that art shop every single day listening for your voice and hoping to smell that amazing scent
After six months of actively going he almost given up..until
"excuse me, where are the paint buckets?"
"oh! Right this way!"
Axis perked up as he heard footsteps and the soft scent filling his nose, you! It was you! It had to be you! You were here!
He slowly followed your scent hearing you talk to the worker before hearing the worker's footsteps vanish, he was panicked! Did he look okay?! Did his eyes look weird?! He made sure to wear his sunglasses but they weren't all too tinted..what if you see his weird fish eyes!
All this panicking made him start to shake and he soon heard a voice break him out of it
"excuse me, are you okay?"
He tensed up and snapped his attention onto that voice, that angel of a voice. That voice that could make him do anything it could ever want, you were infront of him and he loved it
"y-yeah! Sorry! I'm just panicking cause I don't know which paint to buy, being blind has its limits haha"
"oh, well I can help if you need?"
He gave an excited nod and you did exactly that just like you did six months ago, it was magical
"what do you need paint for?"
"oh I just moved into a new place"
You moved? He didn't know that, he doesn't know anything about you, he wants to know everything
"oh, well I'm an artist haha, weird yeah?"
"well I don't think it's that weird, it's actually really impressive"
Dontcrydontcrydontcry-
Axis held in every tear he could as he decided to ask the age old question, the question he wanted to know for six months
"what's your name?"
"oh! Sorry! It's [y/n]"
What a pretty name, a name he wanted to now write over and over again, when you asked his name he of course gave it to you before throwing an opportunity out there hoping you take it
"if you ever need help painting your house, I can help out trust me I'm awesome with a brush!"
"I would actually like that, when are you free?"
"now."
That's how he ended up in your home, and into your life.
Yuki
He literally just walked up and said hi
That's it
He saw you and was like "oh okay let's do this now"
He has no grace he doesn't usually plan things out he just goes and see how it works out
As a person who is a mute 80% of the time talking with you was a little awkward.
He gave off a lost puppy type vibe
Yuki usually would never come to an arcade, but he wanted to win the giant stuffed cat that they had at the prize booth it was so big that they simply had a picture of it..it would make a wonderful place to sleep on
It costed so many tickets though so he had put his entire paycheck into that card to hopefully win as much tickets as he could. That's when he met you, you were absolutely killing it on one of the zombie games and honestly it looked super cool
He walked up to the machine before swiping his card and picking up the player two gun, without a single word he started to play as well. The silence was awkward for sure but it was you who broke it
"wow you are actually pretty good, you play a lot?"
"nope."
His short one word answer made you think that he wasn't really wanting to talk so you were about to leave when he simply swiped his card in the player one slot before handing you the gun once more, with a grin you stepped back up and continued to play
You would ask him questions and get one word responses back or even just sounds filled with emotions, you quickly realized that he just was a man of few words
Yuki had been swiping his card for the both of you so when the time came that he was tapped out a look of shock filled him, he was about to go out more money in but it seemed like the store was closing
"well, I better g-"
You were cut off with him grabbing your hand and pulling you to the prize counter. You followed as he gave the worker the card and got exactly what he wanted...the softest, warmest, biggest plushie ever!
As he hugged it close he watched your eyes soften at the sight of it and you were in awe. He glanced at the plushie, then back at you, then back at the plushie
With that he handed the plushie to you watching your eyes grow big as you hesitantly reached out to it
"you're giving it to me?"
He nodded softly as he watched you hug it close
"are you sure?! This is the most expensive thing in the prize corner, I don't even think you can get another one! Are you re-"
"take. It."
You nodded and flashed him a huge grin before you watched him take out a pen and write on the plushie's tummy in big letters
'yuki: XXX-XX-XXXX'
"that's your name? Yuki..well yuki I'm [y/n]! I'll be sure to send lots of pictures of our new baby! Figured we can have joint custody hmm?"
Yuki have another nod as you both started to walk out, he didn't feel mentally exhausted when he was around you. You were definitely special and he wanted to know more.

Humans are Space Orcs, “Survival.”
I had a lot of fun writing this one. Honestly being inside his head is so much fun, and I hope you all like it :). Hope it makes you laugh today.
So, I survived….
Surprise!
Not sure how that is going to turn out for me, and as I wake up lying back down in the sand and my right hand chilled from the cool inland ocean, I begin to realize that the awful ordeal I had gone through wasn’t just a dream. At first it felt like it, warm sand below my back and cool water on my fingertips. Somewhere birds are chirping, and I lay there for a while simply soaking in heaven, that is until I hear the secondary explosion as one the aux engines which jolts me upright sitting there covered in sand, my clothes singed, my arms aching from minor burns…. Completely alone.
Looking around I realize that this is not in fact earth, those are not, in fact birds, and I am not, in fact dead and being shown to heaven, but in fact much of the opposite. This is not earth, those look like tiny dinosaurs, and this is honestly, probably hell.
I take a minute to get my bearings before slowly crawling my way to my feet stumbling upright. The prosthetic takes most of the weight as I limp up the beach and back towards the wreckage of the command deck. I don’t expect to get much out of it considering that the entire thing is on fucking fire, but give me a bit of a break, less than a day ago I had been plunging towards a blakhole (or what I thought was a black hole that clearly turned out to not be) sure that I was going to die. In a way I was just a little pissed off. Don’t get me wrong, its not because I WANTED to die, I am actually one of the few humans on the face of the galaxy who enjoys living, but simply because I had accepted the fact that I was going to die. I had made peace with it, I had expected it, but instead I had been thrown into one of the worst warp experiences of my life, rattled around inside the command deck and then crash landed spectacularly onto an unknown planet.
I mean, it didn’t look like any place I Had ever seen before. Sure the sand and the ocean were almost natural, but tall, skinny, thousand foot trees certainly weren't, and neither were the large shelled crustaceans shambling up the beach .
I sighed and sat down in the sand with a soft plop watching as fire continued to smolder at the wreckage of my ship. It was only now that I realized my shoes were gone, and I could feel the sand between my toes.
Then the slight hissing hits me, and I turn to look down at my arm where a glint of bright silver catches my attention.
The iron eye suit.
I hadn’t had time to take it off.
I flexed my fingers watching the mid morning light run up and down the metal.
Ok, that was interesting.
Of course my dumbass had managed to take off the jetpack at some point….. shit.
I flopped back in the sand staring up at the sky. It was all coming back to me now, the entire ordeal from start to finish. The fight with the Kree, the space battle --that was arguably pretty fucking awesome…. Eat your heart out kirk-- and finally my destruction of the ship and my journey to the sort of blackish but not really, hole.
It occured to me: Everyone thought I was dead.
That stopped my musings for a second. What would happen? They wouldn’t look for me…. Would they? Then again UNSC policy held that no man was considered KIA until there was a body. I would be pronounced missing in action though assumed dead.
Someone else would be given command, my ship would have to be repaired, and meanwhile the crew would be disbanded or sent on leave.
Katie, maverick, Ramirez, Krill, Conn, Narobi, Cannon…. They all thought I was dead.
Waffles?
Fuck… thinking about her made me want to cry. Like I am going to be honest here guys, when a dog dies in a movie or when a dog is sad in a movie because their human dies, I don’t give a shit about the human, but I will cry. I will cry like a weenie because the dog is sad.
Like when all three of your brothers are sitting on your right hand side, and you have this magic ability to be water falling out of one eye while the other is dry to save face with your manhood kind of cry, no? Is that just me
Then my family, my father, my mother, my brothers. What would this do to them? They'd be devastated sure… Imagining my mother hearing about my untimely death was heartbreaking, and I was worried more than ever about Thoams. His quiet struggle with heroin addiction, and his recent one year sobriety was a big step for him…. Would my death mean setting him back? Was I that important to him that something might happen? He never dealt with stress well, so what was going to happen.
And… Sunny?
I had saved her life, yes but what had I done to her in the process? I had made her watch me die, unable to do anything. I had made her helpless, a victim of circumstance: something I knew she would never forgive herself for. I may have saved her life but…. I possibly ruined her in the process.
…
…
It's a good thing my brothers weren’t here because I wasn’t going to be able to do the one eye waterfall trick. This time it was going to be both eyes…. Still mad that that screwdriver hadn’t ruined my tear ducts too, I could have benefited from that.
I’d say I took about five six minutes to myself to be a pathetic bitch lying there in the sand feeling sorry for myself, and then I wiped my eyes manned up and got to my feet.
Alright.
I looked around at the open planet and the smouldering wreckage of my once beautiful ship. There was only one option here. I had to find a way out, or at least a way to survive, so maybe one day someone might find me somehow…. Yeah yeah yeah I get it is unfounded optimism and it is totally not going to happen, but let a man dream a little.
I was going to have to channel the spirit of one of my childhood idols.
Mark Watney
You know from that book about the guy who gets stuck on mars by himself for a year, the one that was made into a pretty good movie with Matt Damon.
I liked both the book and the movie though they diverge a little towards the end:you know, because hollywood.
There are a couple of problems with this plan of course…. Number one being that I am not a super smart engineer botanist. I am in fact, a fighter pilot, and a raging idiot.
I mean granted I did go to that pilot training school where they drop you out into the forest for a month and tell you good luck, that sucked shit, so it's not like I am completely helpless but still.
However, luckily for me, unlike Mark, I don’t have to worry about air, or water. Granted I have to worry about food, but in a different way. I don’t know what here would be edible to humans, so I am going to have to read carefully. THere is also the issue of clean water which Mark never had to worry about, I do.
YEah, I get it, our circumstances are very different, but I think what I want to channel most about him is his attitude, nihilistically optimistic.
I am going to survive this.
I look up at the sky watching as the planet’s rings glow dimly overhead through the blue atmospheric haze.
First thing was first, water, food and a weapon.
Fun fact about my model of ship:It is already ready for a scenario like this and has emergency packs stored under every seat of the bridge. Of course the problem there being the bridge is now on fire.
I walk over to the ocean and cut strips of my uniform to tie around my hands. I know it won’t give me much, ut it is better than nothing. Then I dunk myself in the water. It’s cold and causes me to shiver, but the air around me is warm, so I am not so worried.
I turn and head back towards the ship keeping a distance from the larger fires and heading towards the more smouldering ones. I don’t strike much luck to begin with, but eventually I manage to haul out one emergency pack from under one of the crew chairs. MY hands get a bit singed in the process, and the hot metal causes me to yowl like an angry cat and drop the case to the ground, but at least I have something.
I wait or it to cool off for a few minutes before dragging it back up the beach and sitting down to open.
Jackpot!
I have a canteen (with purifier) one of those filtration straws, to make the inland ocean my cup, and a handy little device that analyses organic material and tells you if it's edible or not.
I love living in the future
I also had emergency blankets, fire starting material, a knife, a flair gun, a radio. This was also along with a couple of other odds and ends like a compass, paracord, first aid kit, inflatable life raft, a multi-tool , monocular, and a box of nails.
The first aid kit included, bandages, antibiotic ointment, antibiotics of the general: for whatever stabs or infects you variety, painkillers, a turnakit, sewing needle and thread, staple gun: sort of, gauze anti-inflammatories, and fuck yes, a razon a toothbrush and some toothpaste.
If i ever got off this planet and back home I was to kiss whoever made this case, man woman does not mater, they are getting a kiss, cheek if they happen to be married of course, but if they really insist I um up for full mouth contact on the person who saved my life.
All jesting aside, this was good, and I first went to go get a drink of water.
HYdrations is important kiddos.
Next I had to tend to my injuries, minor burns and scrapes, bruises that I could do nothing about. Then it was time for a little shelter, which i erected with great ease between a couple of the strange tall trees, using torn up ferns to provide bedding on the inside and a canopy overhead.
I was feeling pretty badass right now, survivor style, though lets be honest, I was kind of lame since I had so much help from the magic box of wonderful mysticalities.
You know between this gox of medicine and the arc of the covenant, I would definitely pick this box first, for sure.
Took me a good day or two to get settled, and I’ll admit it wasn’t easy.
Gathering food was fine, I found some berries and fruits off of nearby plants, a couple of roots that were ok to eat, and even some of the crustaceans were palatable once I cooked them, using my fire pit and laying them out over a slab of discarded ship metal.
But there were a couple things I failed to think about.
A couple of things being
1# there is no fucking TP on this planet, also I had to dig a hole for fear of accidentally giving myself cholera or some nasty thing on accident by contaminating a water supply.
2# bed uncomfortable
3# no sunscreen
4# After a couple days your really start to smell like ass, now hold on for a minute there, I am completely in the habit of washing my ass,I promise, but I am telling you unwashed human just smells like ass, no way around it, greasy nasty sweaty stank.
The clothes don’t help obviously, and I found a way to wash the clothes by rubbing them in the sand and using some sweet smelling leaves.
OF course you know the problem with all that, right?
Naked.
While on laundry day I am completely nude out in the sun on a tropical planet. If someone were to go flying overhead, they would see more than they bargained for, and way more than they wanted as my pasty white ass flapped around in the breeze as they drove by.
A change of clothes was in order, so I spent the day, while my clothes were being washed, sitting on the sidelines using plant material, scraps and thread to pull together a rudimentary grass skirt/ loincloth of sorts
Now don’t think it didn’t cross my mind everyone.
I half expected god to descend from the sky and ask me what I was doing.
This whole covering your junk with leaves thing seems to be a theme for people named Adam
And yes that was a biblical reference, I am in fact named after the first man, so this is a fitting bonding moment for me and my namesake.
The biggest issue of course is when everything slows down, late at night as I am trying to fall asleep, and I realize that…. I may be stuck here forever.
I will grow old and die alone on this island.
And no one will ever know.

I think my top 3 had 4 dudes in it cause 3rd place has Suna and Atsumu tied?? Hfhfbfbfhdhsja I CANT PICK?? BUT BUT I WAS FEELING STUPIDLY DOWN WHEN READING THAT AND THAT SCENE ALONE MADE ME FEEL SO SOFT IT WAS SO CUTE AND OMG IF SUNA DID THAT TO ME I WOULD DROP ON MY KNEES AND ASK HIM TO MARRY ME CAUSE OMFGGGFFFF DUDE EVEN WENT AHEAD AND SAID THAT WHOLE 'HES GOING TO BE ONE LUCKY GUY'
Oh shit im crying again that scene lets me emotional 😭😭😭😭 someone get me a sunrin irl pls
Anyways the way that suna knows y/n is just.... FUCKING END UP TOGETHER ALREADY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD JUST JBVSHSJBEHSISJ
Also how powerful are we?? HOW FUCKING POWERFUL ARE WE TO SCORE SUNA KITA AND TSUMU?? ARE YOU GONNA TELL. ME IF OIKAWA MOFO TOORU APPEARED HE WOULD ALSO BE ON HIS KNEES FOR US?? (okay no wait... No nooo i would legit drop anyones ass for tooru hes that powerful for me like sorry suna was fun but TOORU)
Yo nah but the whole Kita sex scene- let me breath bestie LET ME BREATH CAUSE I WAS HOT BUT AT SAME TIME I WAS FEELING GUILTY 😂😂😂😂 ESPECIALLY WHEN HE WAS FEELING DISAPPOINTED NEXT DAY LIKE KITA PLS BABY WHAT WERE YOU EXPECTING?? 😬😬😬😬 But at same time his 'ill fuck the thought of him out of you tonight' I ALMOST MOANED YASSSSS TELL ME DADDY HOLY SHITTTTT
👀👀👀👀 Still not a kita simp ✌️✌️🤏✌️
Okay Kita deserves the best tho I mean okay he went there as a y/n mom's plan but he did ended up helping alot... Especially cause he knows no matter what y/n heart will always be suna's and pls give Kita the best ending possible cause he deserves someone who will trully love him and show him the world cause mah boy deserves it
*breaths in breaths out* i hated this scene- not in a bad way but shit i hate rejections... To the point im kinda afraid of confessing now cause i despise the feeling of being rejected... The best i can descrive it it like this coldness in your chest that descends your whole body and then you feel frozen in place.. Thats how it feels for me I hate it I absolutely despise it- its also the feeling i have when in a really bad situation and ugh...
The suna part made. Me feel this no matter how many times i reread it the feeling doesnt lessen it keeps being there cause (okay you probably are tired already of me saying this but) Suki I feel like I cant put it in words how much of a fucking good of a writer you are. Ill go ahead and say you are by far my favorite writer the fact i always feel so engaged and the fact i always feel like im there its just- it blows my mind.
I felt like suna was personally rejecting me and i hated it- i swear the moment he said prove it I almost screamed HOW? My brain had to take a moment to just slap me and say: 'kya you reading this is not happening chill-' cause i was already sobbing uncontrollably... I even whimpered the dont leave me 😬 my sadass went to bed feeling so sad thanks to suna... Man i wanted so much to hug him and i swear i would give him as much love as he gave y/n cause well i kin suna alot in this series cause im like that im a giver i treat others the way i would like to be treated (reason why ive been down lately ✌️) and i cant blame suna for finally setting boundaries- his call tho 'do i not stand a chance with you anymore y/n? Are you really not capable of falling in love with me?".... Oh suna... We are in love with you.. We always were we're just fucking stupid 😩
Also mari pls go jump off a cliff <3 youre in need dear cause sleeping with other man just to separate suna and y/n <3 i want so much to punch her 🙂🙃
Now for the love letter part (im so sorry for this being so long ✌️)
You said that if we asked suna he woukd say that he genuinely loved mari okay... Ill go ahead and say yes he liked mari he even learned how to love her and he genuinely cared for her BUT and heres where my personal view comes in so maybe ill be biased here still for me that was just a he loves her as in he cares you also love your friends and care for them but he didnt love her- and by this I mean- he could never be fully committed for her. Yes he loved her and he felt happy with her but like track 7 proved everything he would do in the back of his mind was y/n he deeply wished Mari was her and for that he just loved Mari cause he learned how to care about her- but he never forgot who he trully was in love it. Also the happiness he experienced with Mari was pretty much the one I experienced the bliss of having someone there and that bliss also made suna turn a blind eye to all the red flags from Mari cause to him all the jealousy meant she cared and thats toxic but suna was so desperate for some sort of 'she cares' that even all the possessiveness was bliss for him... And that makes my heart clench for suna...
'suna had to put an effort for the relationship' and saddly i feel like mari didnt... Mari didnt care mari was there because she was a fangirl of suna and got lucky, the way she just discarded him so effortlessly that proved-screamed how much she loved him- she didnt. She was just possessive over him she liked the whole 'hes mine' dynamic and suna was the perfect boyfriend cause he was giving her the world... What he wanted someone to do for him.
Also yeah suna and y/n might have been spurred from them being fuck buddies but well love doesnt really have an agenda- they just clicked, understood each other and had chemistry yeah they had tons and tons of sex but feelings started not because of sex but thanks to their deep connection... Also that dsncing scene in track 7 that alone spoke for their whole relationship- that alone is enough to defend their feelings for each other- yes it might jave started just as fuck buddies but ended up in them loving each other deeply and that is enough love after all doesnt need a perfect start. It can start out of the most stupid ways.
You said life with excitement and fun wouldn't be permanent or real.. Honestly i think it could be.. Cause i mean when you love someone that deeply your life always feels exciting even with the littlest things and that the purest kind of love. Even just going for a walk at the beach would be fun for them or even staying up watching movies i believe suna and y/n would always find a way to make their lofe exciting without much effort.
Also it kinda makes me. Sad when i see some anon saying that y/n and suna relationship are toxic? It makes me. Confused maybe because I was in such extremely toxic one (girl i sweat if you search for toxic relationship my ex's face will be there as an example 🙄) that Mari to me screams toxic! Possessive, manipulative, jealous and a few more if I think closely about it while with y/n and suna they are just two idiots that are hurting each other cause they're just that: idiots one that is afraid to get hurt and the other that keeps hoping- dont get me wrong what they're doing is not healthy but i dont find it toxic honestly
Sorry for the extreme long rant 8D I tried to keep it short but you always make me so hyped to talk about your works 😩
Hfbfbfhfhfieia
[ from saeren ]
NAHHH CUZ I LOVE TSUMU SO MUCH HERE HE WAS SO PRECIOUS. I didn’t write too much about them in college but Atsumu was so cute when he crushed on YN. he was always sending her memes and cute texts like “have you eaten” “good morning” and she’d feel so awkward because she doesn’t know how to let him down easy without hurting him. either way tsumu would feel hurt. AND YES PLS HE WAS SO SAD I MEAN, HIS CRUSH AND HIS BEST FRIEND NEARLY HAD SEX RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM SO THAT’S GOING TO HURT
SUNA AND ATSUMU TIED?? tbh I loved that dancing scene bcos suna is one of my faves and I really wanna do that with him hehehhehe. NAHHH PLEASE SAME IF SUNA DANCED WITH ME AND MADE A WEDDING PLAYLIST I’D BE LIKE boy what’re u waiting for let’s get married now !! n yes he said whoever YN will choose in the future will be one lucky guy IM SOBBING RN
naur cuz. there’s something about dating your best friend. I’m not saying a boyfriend wouldn’t know you as well but there’s something different when you’re best friends first. they could literally share eye contact and have a long ass conversation just from that. their connection is different.
HAJKALA AS FOR THE POWER, BR! YN IS A VERY CHARISMATIC AND FRIENDLY PERSON !! she’s like one of those people you meet that not only are they attractive as hell, but they’re also super approachable and down to earth. that’s why she’s so popular + she’s flirty and can make a stranger feel welcome or comfortable in the first meeting. SGSHJAK I WAS ACTUALLY PLANNING TO ADD OIKAWA HERE BUT I WANNA MAKE IT MORE INARIZAKI CENTRED
the seggs scene with kita SOBSSSS he’s such a soft dom IDC he knows where the clit is, he knows how to hit it. he’s a “your pleasure first before mine” type of guy. kita is perfect, PERIODT. HE GIVES DADDY VIBES HUH AHSKAA HE’S SO SWEET YET SEXY IM IN LOVE WITH HIM ISTG IF SUNA WASN’T OUR BEST FRIEND THEN I’D RUN FOR KITA ALL THE TIME. and I agree, kita deserves the best !! and don’t worry, I actually plan on giving kita the best ending, I promise you he’ll be fine (slight spoiler there)
YESSSSS OMG I’VE BEEN REJECTED BEFORE AND THAT’S EXACTLY HOW I FELT, MY BODY WAS SO COLD AND I WAS SO CONFUSED LIKE IT MAKES YOU THINK. am I not good enough, did I do something wrong, do you not wanna give me a chance or try it out but ofc I’d never say that out loud. AND KYAAA AAAH IM YOUR FAVORITE WRITER??? NO CUZ YOU’RE GOING TO MAKE ME CRY. I remember ur asks way back reckless era and you used to tell me that my writing made you picture the scenes easily and you felt you were there in that moment and I’m just so grateful thank you so much <33
NO BCOS WHEN SUNA SAID “prove it” I was like. this is it. that’s his hot boy shit moment. man’s has had enough of being thrown from one toxic relationship to another and he also deserves his good moments yknow. and you kin suna here?? BESTIE IM SORRY TO HEAR THAT, SUNA’S BEEN THROUGH A LOT HERE AHSJAKA. that’s true about suna tho !! he’s definitely affectionate + a giver. he’s happy being the one who gives most of the time but he’s a human as well, ofc he’d want to receive the same amount of love back. ALSO HIS PHONE CALLLLLL ugh tbh that part was the one that made me the saddest bcos he’s just. he wants to know if there’s really no more chance. all this time he never gave up. but he’s also tired so if yn says ‘no more’ then he’ll give up. its his way of respecting himself too ahsjaka
YOOOOO I AGREE WITH THAT. he cares for mari as a person but not 100% as a lover. but ofc he’s still thankful for how happy she made him because she was there at his worst. and that’s true, deep down suna still wishes that it was YN who’s right beside him. he will always ALWAYS want her back. he learned how to love mari in a way that was more out of mutual care but not in the way he loves YN. no that’s reserved only for YN – she will remain no 1 in his heart. AND YESSSSS the reason why suna overlooked the red flags was bcos to him, its something that was supposed to be “normal” like no perfect partner existed. he thought mari’s attitude of pushing YN away was normal, and its normal to want your partner’s best friend keep some distance but not to the point of mari’s place where she literally wants the two of them to cut each other out of their lives.
and aww I’m so happy that you realized how I wanted to portray suna and yn’s relationship. they’re….like the definition of youth in its freest form. they were fucking around and doing stupid things, but they had a connection. they had something deeper than just sexual intimacy. even if they never dated or even if YN never proposed the idea of it, they would’ve actually been still great friends. and oooh I actually don’t remember saying life with excitement and fun wouldn’t be real HAHAHAHA so I can’t comment further on that. but I think when I ‘said’ those I probably meant that it’s not always going to be all rainbows and unicorns in a relationship. there’s no such thing as a relationship that’s always happy and sweet 24/7, but ofc it can be sweet and it can be pure even with the little things <33 they just need to work on it.
hmmm tbhhhh… suna and yn are toxic in a way that they refuse to let each other go when they clearly can’t meet halfway. toxic doesn’t have to be limited in just being mari-like in which they are possessive or manipulative, because then if we’d drive deeper into yn’s personality, then she’d be stringing suna all along and that’s unfair of her. she knows suna wants more and yet she remained being friends with him, which totally isn’t a bad thing, but it’s because she keeps flirting with him and is so romantically comfortable with him that she doesn’t realize it’s hurting suna because he’ll give double meanings to that. their relationship is ‘toxic’ because they’re not entirely good for each other, they’re not that ready to be with one another yet and neither is the world letting them be in peace, so forcing their relationship to a point they’re hurting another is the toxic part.
[ from @kyriaan ]
Ah also not me feeling all proud and mushy cause my analysis made you mind blown fjfbdnsjdkpa 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 I guess its also because i see this story as a really big mirror of my own toxic relationship sonits extremely easy for me to get it... And oh boy the way i kin suna here
But dhdhfjdospdhfbsoa 🥺🥺🥺🥺 i feel happy now *huggles*
[ from saeren ]
and aah yes ofc, I’m really happy whenever someone can see the underlying details I scatter throughout the story !! yeah omg same hahahaha broken records is also half inspired by the toxic people I’ve met. I kin kita here tho and I’m so glad you’re happier now !!

LIEBE LIESE: ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪᴠ – 𝒲𝒾𝓃𝑒 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝒸𝒶𝓃𝒹𝓁𝑒𝓈
→ CHAPTERS LIST — CHAPTER III: HONEY LIPS WORD COUNT: 7,5k A/N: The overdue chapter is here (and several hours later than promised). I want to apologize once again for delaying it so much. I have this chapter planned in my head since I first started writing this fic but I couldn’t bring myself to write it for some reason. This is basically a get to know character, hope y’all like it.
HENRY TAKES a deep breath as he slowly wakes up and her scent fills his nostrils. He rolls to his back and, with his eyes still closed, he instinctively reaches out for the warmth of her body but the other side o the bed is empty, cold even, making his eyes snap open right away. Liese isn’t snuggled up in a very small space in the mattress like he wanted to, he’s alone.
Sunlight pours into the apartment heavily, the thin white drapes doing nothing to block it. As his eyes scan the vast open space, Henry is disappointed to not find her hourglass-shaped body anywhere.
He sits up. “Liese?” The man calls, his voice filling the space and bouncing back to him.
No response.
Sighing, Henry clenches his jaw and pushes the covers away from his lap before standing up. At the chair by the corner of the shelving, his clothes are neatly folded, the black boxer briefs on top of the pile. He then notices the blue slip of paper above it.
Without a second thought, he picks it up.
Hi, handsome.
Good morning! Sorry I’m not there. I have to go to work and I couldn’t bring myself to wake you up. You looked so heavenly sleeping. I’ve made you breakfast, hope you like it. It’s in the microwave and there’s coffee on the pot. You can leave my keys with Mr. Ferris at the front desk, he’s trustworthy ;) Can’t wait for our date tonight!
P.S.: I really hope you understand my handwriting because doctors really suck at it and I tried really hard. If not, you’ll find a text in your phone saying the exact same thing :p
Liebe, Liese xo
Henry smiles, still staring at the piece of paper. Her handwriting is really difficult in some parts, especially when e’s looks like i’s and o’s like a’s. But he did understand it and now he couldn’t stop smirking like an idiot.
* * *
Liese rests her chin on the heel of her hand, looking at her friend. “This is a power couple right here, I’m telling you,” Sierra states, holding her phone out to the others.
They have been discussing the success of this year’s benefit gala for the last ten minutes and now the subject is the silver-haired woman. The official photos of the event are circulating the internet and this is totally normal, considering the celebrities that have attended it. But her friends are way more interested in her photo with a certain actor.
“This is like the Queen B and Jay-Z of white people,” Her friend continues, making people laugh.
“That’s Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie,” Kelsie points out.
“They aren’t married anymore,” Sierra makes a face, shaking her head.
“We also have different lines of work,” Liese says. “Beyoncé and Jay-Z are musicians while Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are actors.”
“Girl, I don’t care about that,” Her fellow doctor looks at her like she’s demented. “The point is that beautiful babies would come out of you with this much good genes.”
The woman laughs, shaking her head and standing up. “Great time to start doing our rounds, huh?” She says, walking away.
“We’re continuing this later,” Sierra says, walking beside her.
She shakes her head. “Nope, we’re not.”
They focus on their patients and each visit takes its own time as they pay very close attention and listen to everything they have to say, also making conversation other than the routine questions. Liese gets a text from Henry in-between visits and she replies to him quickly with a smile on her face while walking towards the next room.
Right away, the woman notices something’s off with the little girl they’re visiting. She doesn’t make eye contact with both doctors; her replies are single-worded and her mother does almost all the talking. While she desperately wants to engage in a conversation with her and find out exactly what’s bothering the girl, Liese needs to see other patients as well. So, she returns to her room after she finishes the rounds with Sierra.
A soft knock on the doorway has the two occupants looking at her. “Hey, I’m back,” She smiles softly. “So, I’ve noticed someone is a little upset today,” Liese starts. “And I was thinking: ‘What would I do if I was feeling down?’” She taps her index finger on her jaw, looking up as if in thought. “Then, I remember. Chocolate, obviously!” The woman shakes her head. “So, I went to the vending machine and got this for you,” She slowly reveals the candy bar, finally walking into the room. The little girl beams at her immediately. “But you shouldn’t eat all at once,” The doctor suggests, sitting on the bed and offering her the bar.
“What do we say, honey?” Her mother asks, sitting in the armchair next to the bed.
“Thanks, Dr. H,” Carol says quietly.
Liese smiles fondly at her. “You’re welcome, love,” She says.
Most of the kids call her “Dr. H” because it’s harder for younger ones to say “Hartmann”.
“Dr. H, can I ask you something?” Carol looks up at the doctor, completely ignoring the candy.
She tilts her head slightly. “Sure.”
“Can I braid your hair?” The little girl asks out of the blue.
“My hair?” Liese frowns, taken aback by the sudden request.
“Yes,” She nods. “Your hair is very pretty,” She praises and the frown on the doctor’s face just deepens.
“Well, thanks. But where have you seen it?” She asks.
Liese’s go-to hairstyle for work is a simple bun. It’s practical because it keeps her hair out of her face when she needs to run around the ED and it’s sanitary because, well, she works in hospitals. It’s also very appropriate in a working environment. So, she is utterly confused by the girl’s statement.
“On your Instagram,” Carol replies like it’s obvious.
She immediately panics inside, wondering how many of her patients check her social media.
“Oh,” Her eyebrows shoot to her hairline before she frowns slightly again for a second before snapping out of it. “Okay, sure. But I only have one hair tie,” She points out.
“It’s fine, turn around,” The little girl says excitedly, sitting her chocolate bar to the side.
Liese glances at her mother who shrugs off with a smile before she turns around. She pulls her hair out of the bun and down her shoulders, combing it slightly with her fingers and smoothing down the roots. Carol’s eyes shine in excitement as the silver locks pour down Liese’s back. Then, the doctor rests her hands on her lap, waiting for Carol to start braiding and she does so after shyly asking permission to actually touch her hair.
“It’s so smooth,” Carol beams, running her little finger through her hair. “And shiny!”
“Do you know why I dyed it?” She asks, trying to access how much stalking the girl did on her Instagram.
“Because you lost a bet with Otto,” She replies, starting to braid the right side of her hair.
Liese chuckles, amused by her calling her brother by the name but also concerned. “Yes, you’re right.”
“Who’s Otto?” Her mother asks, frowning.
“He’s Dr. H’s little brother,” Carol explains.
The expression on her mother’s face is of pure chock as Liese nods slightly. “Guess I need to be very careful of what I post, huh?” She muses, trying to make less of the awkward situation.
“And I should start monitoring what this young lady is doing online,” The woman replies, giving a pointed look at her daughter.
“Mom!” Carol whines and the doctor chuckles.
The little girl works quickly, tugging and twisting Liese’s hair skillfully. She braids each side, joining both of it on the back of the doctor’s head with an imperceptible knot. Carol easily convinces Liese to let her take photos of the braid with her phone so she could see it.
“Oh my God,” The doctor says, truly surprised by the professional-looking braid. “This is so gorgeous, thank you so much, Carol,” She looks at the girl.
She smiles, resting her head on her hands. “I wish I had hair like yours,” Carol confesses dreary.
The look on the woman’s face softens. “Is that why you’re upset, sweetheart?” She asks, turning her whole body towards her and giving her full undivided attention. The little girl shrugs, eyes falling to her lap. “Honey, you don’t have to worry. Your hair will grow back and I bet it’s gonna look prettier than mine,” Liese tries to reassure her.
Leukemia is a real bitch. Like any other type of cancer, it makes you suffer throughout the very brutal treatment. When kids experience it, in Liese’s opinion, it’s even worse. It’s hard to explain to them what’s happening and why they can’t be around so many people like before because their immune system is too compromised.
She shrugs off nonchalantly. “I guess,” She murmurs, her eyes still focused on her fidgeting hands.
“You know what you can do while it doesn’t grow back?” The doctor starts, trying to pique her interest.
“What?” Carol asks, still avoiding eye contact.
“You can wear wigs!” Liese says. “Mel from down the hall says it’s very cool to have a different hairstyle or hair color every day,” She adds. “You should talk to her,” Liese suggests.
Finally, Carol snaps her head up and looks at her mother. “Can we do that?” She asks, excited again.
“Sure,” Her mother nods with a smile.
The little girl looks back at Liese with a huge grin on her face in which the woman corresponds. “Dr. Hartmann to the nurse’s station,” The female voice says on speaker.
“Well, that’s me,” The doctor says, standing up from the bed with her phone in hands. “Thanks for the brai – Oof,” She puffs when Carol throws herself into Liese’s arms, hugging her neck tightly.
“I love you, Dr. H,” The little girl says and it surprises Liese.
She then smiles, hugging her small body. “I love you too, Carol,” She replies. “I’ll check on you later today, okay?”
“Okay,” She nods, sitting back on the bed.
“Thank you so much, Dr. Hartmann,” Carol’s mother says when she reaches the door.
“Sure,” She smiles before finally leaving the room.
While Liese was comforting the little girl, Henry walks into the medical facility. Right after he passes through the front door, he realizes that coming there might not be a good idea after all. He has no clue as to where he can find her and she’s working; he shouldn’t be bothering her at work.
“Sir, can I help you?” A young woman at the front desk asks, breaking his thoughts.
“Ah, yes, ma’am,” He smiles politely, approaching her. “Do you know where I can find Dr. Liese Hartmann?”
She makes a face. “I don’t, actually,” Then she chuckles. “But if you go to the nurse’s station on the first floor, they can page her,” She says. “Elevators are through there,” She instructs.
“Thank you,” Henry offers a smile.
“Big fan, by the way,” She adds quickly as he starts to move away.
The man’s smile grows wider. “Thank you,” He repeats, finally walking away.
He follows the young woman’s instructions and gets in the elevator to the first floor. The building only has two floors above the ground level but it looks exactly like a hospital. Nurses and doctors are walking around in scrubs, patients and relatives.
Patients. That’s when Henry is sure it wasn’t a good idea to come there. The patients in that facility are kids from two to sixteen-years-old and he’s fucking Superman. Right now he’s just praying they won’t recognize him because it’s gonna be hell to leave if they do.
“Good morning, ma’am,” Henry says when he approaches the nurse’s station. “I’m looking for Dr. Liese Hartmann. The lady at the reception said you could page her from here.”
The woman double looked at him and her jaw dropped while he was talking. They were talking about him just a few hours ago.
“Uh, sure. Yes, I can do that,” She recovers quickly when he stops talking. “One second.”
“Thank you,” He offers her his breathtaking smile and, boy, she could have fainted.
Smiling at him, the usual effect Henry’s charm has on women, she picks up the phone. “Dr. Hartmann to the nurse’s station,” She says over the phone and her voice is amplified by the speakers. “Give her a couple of minutes.”
“Alright. Thank you so much,” Henry replies, smiling at her again.
It’s doesn’t take a couple of minutes, though. The man pulls his phone from his pocket to check a message and a flicker of silver catches the corner of his eye. He looks up to see the gorgeous doctor coming out of a patient room wearing blue scrubs and a lab coat above it. She looks absolutely stunning with her hair down her shoulders in beachy waves and the waterfall braid.
Liese’s eyes go straight to him and she hesitates for a split second, surprised by seeing him there. Then she smiles, walking towards him.
“Mr. Cavill, hello,” She greets him professionally.
He gets the hint and plays along right away. “Dr. Hartmann,” Henry nods, shaking her hand. “Pleased to meet you again,” He adds and she offers him a mischievous smirk that only he understands in that way.
“Likewise,” The doctor replies. “I’m very glad you took up on my offer to meet the facilities. Should we talk about the details in my office?” She offers suggestively.
Henry nods. “Lead the way.”
With a smile, Liese motions to the elevators he just came from and they walk towards there ignoring everybody gawking at Henry, especially Sierra who was practically arranging their wedding earlier. The elevator ride to the ground level is silent because they aren’t alone but both of them are trying to hold back the laugh.
The walk to her office has fewer eyes on them but it’s only when Henry sees her name on a door that he smirks. She opens the door for him still in a professional way and he walks in. Liese quickly follows, closing the door and having him on her as soon as it clicks closed.
She giggles with his lips on hers. “Hey,” The woman says, before pulling him down at the neck and kissing him deeper.
“Hi,” He breathes out, a silly grin in his face and forehead resting against hers. “You are gorgeous, by the way,” He praises.
She rolls her eyes, moving away. “I’m literally wearing scrubs,” Liese deadpans.
“It doesn’t matter,” The man smiles, looking at her walk around. “So, I’ve come to drop this off,” He says.
Her keys dangle from his hand and the doctor smiles, leaning against her desk. “You could have left it with Mr. Ferris,” She says as he approaches her.
Henry puts his hands on each side of the table, trapping her against it and his body. “I could,” He leans down and kisses her neck softly. “But then I wouldn’t have an excuse to come see you,” Henry adds, kissing the other side of her neck.
She giggles, taking his face with both hands and kissing his lips. “Did you sleep well?” Liese asks, looking into his eyes. “I swear, you looked so at peace when I left that I couldn’t bring myself to disturb you,” She says.
“I did, actually,” He replies, taking a seat at one of the comfortable chairs in front of her table. “Your mattress is wonderful. It’s like sleeping in a cloud,” He says and the woman chuckles. “Matter of fact, it’s the first time in a very long time that I sleep past nine.”
“Why? Kal doesn’t let you stay longer?” Liese asks with a content smile on her lips.
“Well, that and I just can’t stay in bed at all,” The man nods.
“I can think of ways to make you stay,” She starts and Henry’s eyes darken immediately, looking up at her.
“Hmm, I like where your mind is going,” He says, leaning towards her and reaching his hand to caress her thighs. “You have a nice office,” The man adds but he hadn’t even taken a look around her office. “Tell me, have you ever had some fun in here?”
The doctor smirks, pushing his shoulder back and straddling his lap.
Henry’s hands immediately find her waist. “Not today, Mr. Cavill,” She whispers against his lips. “Perhaps when you come back for your visit to see the facility,” Liese teases with a hand caressing his chest. “Right now, I’m afraid I’m kicking you out.”
He was about to kiss her lips when Liese suddenly stands up, making Henry pout. “Seriously?” He asks, looking up at her incredulously.
“Mmhm,” The doctor hums with a nod. “One of my friends was already naming our children earlier. I don’t want to give them the tea,” She confesses. “But I’m looking forward to our date tonight,” Liese smiles at him.
“I’m looking forward to it, too,” He replies, standing up and bringing her body closer to his with one hand. “Our children, huh?” He says as they part their lips.
Liese chuckles. “Yeah. Apparently, our ‘good genes’ would result in beautiful babies,” She makes air quotes.
“Well, I concur,” Henry nods, making the woman chuckle again.
“Let’s take baby steps, okay?” She says. “The date first.”
“Sure. Pick you up at seven?” He suggests.
Liese nods. “Sounds great,” Then she stands on her tiptoes to kiss his lips while resting both hands on his chest. “Now, allow me to walk you out, Mr. Cavill.”
“Please, lead the way, Dr. Hartmann,” He plays along again, making her laugh in amusement.
She straightens her clothes a little before opening the door and walking out with Henry following. At the door, they shake hands again. “Thank you for coming by, Mr. Cavill. I really appreciate your interest,” The doctor says and Henry almost laughs at the real meaning of those words.
“Of course, ma’am. I’ll have my manager to call you with a date,” He replies.
“Great. Have a nice day,” Liese smiles.
“You too, ma’am,” The man smiles before walking away.
The woman watches as he walks towards his car and turns her back when he gets into it. Amelie, the young woman at the front desk, has a smirk on her face when Liese looks at her.
“He looks so much more handsome in person, right?” She says, smiling like a real fangirl.
“I’d say so, yes,” The doctor agrees, chuckling at her.
“And he smells so good too!” Amelie adds excitedly.
Now Liese laughs. “Yeah, okay Amelie. If anyone asks for me, I’m in my office,” She says, already walking back there.
She sighs when she closes the door and a silly smile plays in her lips. The keychain sitting in her desk makes her feel like a teenager as she recalls everything that just happened in her office.
But she doesn’t allow herself to keep doing that as she has a lot of work to get done. So, the woman pushes off the door and walks around the desk, sitting behind it. Liese puts her keys into her purse before focusing on the paperwork that needed attention.
That’s when there’s a knock on the door and then Sierra slips right into the room without even waiting for an answer.
“Nooo,” Liese whines, sitting back on her chair and pitching the bridge of her nose.
“Soulmates, you guys are soulmates, I’m telling you!” Her friend starts, taking a seat at the chair Henry was in minutes ago. “You guys look so good together. Brangelina ain’t shit compared to you guys.”
“Sie, I really need to read these,” She points at the documents.
Her friend nods. “I’ll be quick. He’s just so handsome…”
Liese rolls her eyes and sits back on her chair. For the next forty minutes – yeah, that long –, Sierra explains how they’re perfected for each other, even googling Henry to point out things they have in common. Lunchtime is no different, except this time her friend has allies to convince Liese as to why she should ask the actor out on a date.
In the afternoon, the woman has the desired peace she wanted to go through the paperwork carefully. She gets a lot of things done until the time to leave arrives but she actually goes back to Carol’s room. They talk for a while and Liese asks the little girl to teach her how to do the waterfall braid by herself.
Before she could be late for her date, she gets an Uber home. “Good evening, Mr. Ferris. Got anything for me today?” She smiles kindly at the elder man, leaning on the front desk.
“Dr. Hartmann, hello,” He smiles at her. “Just a couple today,” Mr. Ferris says, turning around to the mailboxes. “A very polite gentleman came looking for you last night and I told him your apartment number because he didn’t seem like a bad person to me,” He says calmly as he turns back around towards Liese with her mail. “I hope it’s alright for you. If not, I’m terribly sorry, I-”
The woman interrupts him, shaking her head and resting a hand above his. “It’s quite alright, Mr. Ferris. Really,” She reassures him. “Also, I’m sure you saw him leaving this morning,” She winks at him.
“Well, I’m not one to pry on anyone’s business,” He shrugs off, making her laugh.
“You’re the best, Mr. Ferris,” Liese leans forward to kiss his cheek. “Thank you so much,” She says before moving away.
The elder man chuckles at her. “He seems to be very nice, Dr. Hartmann,” Mr. Ferris adds.
“He is, Mr. Ferris,” She looks back at him. “And you can call me Liese,” The woman smiles.
“Sure. When you start calling me Carl,” He says nonchalantly, smiling at her later.
Liese waves at him before getting into the elevator. She doesn’t bother to check the mail; she simply discards it on the console table by the front door. The doctor goes straight to the bathroom, taking a relaxing shower. Then she applies a face mask and realizes she doesn’t know what to wear.
The woman panics as she stares at her closet. “Hey, gorgeous,” Henry says as he picks up the call and Liese can sense a smile on his face, making her smile as well.
“Hi, handsome,” She giggles, amused by the exchange. “Where are you taking me? I don’t know what to wear,” She confesses. “And don’t worry about ruining surprises, I don’t know many restaurants and I won’t Google it.”
Henry chuckles at her bluntness and she feels a chill running down her spine just by the sound of it. “It’s a place called Clos Maggiore,” He replies.
“Sounds fancy. Okay, I know exactly what to wear. You’ll love it,” She says, picking a hanger and looking at the dress.
“I’m pretty sure I’d love anything you decided on,” The man replies.
Liese snorts. “I wouldn’t be that sure,” She says. “Anyway, I have to get ready.”
“There’s still an hour and a half until I have to pick you up,” He points out.
“Yeah, well. Some of us weren’t born that handsome,” The woman replies. “Plus, I’ll make sure you will need to pick your jaw from the floor when you see me,” She teases.
He chuckles again. “Okay, I’ll let you go then. See you soon.”
“Bye,” Liese blows him a kiss before hanging up.
The woman leaves the dress on her bed and picks a pair of high heel sandals. She also decides on jewelry and then washes the face mask off. Liese decides on a simple makeup and, by the time she’s styling her hair, her phone starts to ring. Propping it against the vanity mirror, she answers the FaceTime call.
“Hey Gustav,” She says.
“Lis, it’s poker night. You coming?” Her brother asks without even looking at her. “Oh wow, you’re all dolled up,” He says, finally looking at her.
She frowns. “It’s Wednesday,” She points out. “And, no, I won’t come. I have a date.”
Gustav laughs right away. “No, you don’t. I don’t believe that for a second,” He says and she rolls her eyes. “What are you really up to?” He asks.
“A date,” The woman insists. “I don’t have time to talk right now. I will call you later if feel like it,” She says, pulling her curling iron down.
“No, don’t hang up. Come to poker nig-” Her brother tries but she hangs up on his face anyway.
She ignores Gustav calling again and puts on the dress, smoothing it on her body while analyzing her reflection on the mirror. Heels, accessories and some perfume later, the woman gathers a few things in a small clutch. When she picks up a trench coat from her closet, Henry sends her a text, letting her know that he’s waiting for her in the lobby.
On my way down.
She replies before shoving her phone into the clutch. Liese dresses the coat and turns off the lights, waking out of her studio apartment. The elevator ride is very quick and, soon enough, she spots Henry’s large form when the doors open. He has his back towards her and turns around when he hears the sound of heels against the floors.
True to her words, Henry has to pick his jaw from the floor when he sees her. The burgundy velvet dress hugs her form perfectly, the deep V neck showing the curve of her breasts. She styled the silver hair with beachy waves, much like he had seen in the morning, looking very natural.
“Y-You’re… Uh… Wow,” Henry stutters as she walks towards him. “You’re stunning,” He manages to blurt out.
Liese chuckles slightly, greeting him with a kiss on the cheek. “Thanks, but I don’t believe it,” She says. “You said the same thing when I was wearing scrubs,” Liese explains with a pointed look and he chuckles.
“It’s not about the clothes,” The man replies with a soft look on his face and she almost melts.
“Well, you’re very handsome yourself,” She praises, a hand running under the lapel of his coat.
Henry’s wearing a deep blue three-piece suit with a gray dress shirt, two buttons popped open to reveal some chest hair. On top of that, he has a thick dark coat. His curled short hair falls over his forehead, making him look both adorable and extremely hot. Overall, he could make Liese wet if he smirked at her.
She’s simply glad that she went all the way because she’d feel extremely underdressed if she had chosen something different.
“Thanks,” He smiles at her.
“Looking very good, Dr. Hartmann,” Mr. Ferris says and suddenly Liese remembers him.
She looks his way and smiles. “Thanks, Mr. Ferris.”
“Shall we?” Henry asks and she looks back at him.
“Sure. Good night, Mr. Ferris,” The woman bids goodbye to the elder man.
“See you soon, sir,” The actor says to Mr. Ferris.
“Have a good time,” He wishes.
“Thanks,” The couple replies at the same time.
Henry leads Liese outside with a hand on the small of her back. “This one,” He steers her to a black Bentley, completely different from the SUV he drove her there yesterday.
“Nice car,” She praises as he opens the door for her.
He chuckles. “Thanks,” He says.
The man walks around the car while she buckles the belt. “How many cars do you have?” She asks, looking at him with a smile.
“A few,” Henry shrugs off and she raises both eyebrows. “I like cars,” He says and she chuckles.
“Sure,” She says.
“How about you?” He asks, starting the car.
“As of now, zero,” Liese replies. “The only car I want it’s my brother’s and I haven’t been lucky these last few years.”
“Really?” He glances at her.
“Yeah,” She nods. “I don’t mind taking the tube, in fact, I don’t care at all.”
“You’re very humble, aren’t you?” Henry chuckles.
“I am, actually,” She says. “I appreciate you taking me to this restaurant, don’t get me wrong, but I also could do a pub with oily snacks and a pint,” The man glances at her again with an amused expression. “I was raised with boys,” She shrugs off.
“At least I already know where our second date is gonna be,” He says.
“Oh, honey. You’re so hopeful,” Liese jokes and laughs at his expression.
The ride to Covent Garden is not long but filled with chit chat. Soon, Henry pulls over in front of the restaurant. He leaves the car and quickly makes his way around it to open the door to Liese. He helps her out and offers his arm like a real gentleman.
With arms linked, the couple gets into the restaurant, not before Henry could praise Liese again. “Good evening,” The hostess smiles at them as they approach.
“Good evening. We have a reservation under the name Cavill,” He says.
She nods, quickly typing on her iPad. “Of course, allow me to show you to your seats,” The hostess says, turning around.
The couple follows her into the bar section, the walls covered by green plants, what both amazes Liese and makes her wonder if it’s real. Red leather contrasts with orange wood and brown seats. Two rooms are just like that before they get into a room with cherry blossoms covering the ceiling with twinkling lights intertwined in it.
“Oh wow,” Liese murmurs, looking up at the cherry blossoms.
Henry has to guide her the rest of the way because she isn’t able to tear her eyes away from it. The hostess leads them to a more secluded table but placed in the same gorgeously decorated space.
“May I take your coats?” The woman guiding them asks.
The man nods and then proceeds to help Liese out of her coat. She’s still mesmerized by her surroundings to the point she doesn’t take her eyes away from the ceiling as Henry helps seat down too. He removes his coat, handing it to the hostess before taking a seat across from Liese.
“A waiter will be with you soon,” The hostess says, holding both of their coats. “Have a nice diner.”
“Thank you,” Henry says to the woman and then looks back at his date when she leaves. A smile forms in his lips. “Well? What do you think?” He asks and she finally looks back at him.
“This place is gorgeous,” She says, reaching out to take his hand. “Thank you so much for bringing me here,” She adds sincerely and Henry smiles wider.
“You’re very welcome,” He starts. “But it’s not as gorgeous as you are,” The man praises once again.
For the first time since they’ve met, Henry sees Liese blushing. At the moment he opens his mouth to say something else, the waiter arrives at their table. He handles both of them menus and waits for them to decide on what to eat. Henry picks a bottle of wine and the waiter praises his choice before walking away.
“Très bien,” Liese says in French in a joking manner.
He smiles at her immediately. “Do you speak French too?” He asks, teasing.
“Non pas du tout,” She chuckles at her joke and he joins her. “I mean, I can remember bits from school but, fluently, only German and English.”
“When did you move here?” Henry asks.
“I’m British, Henry,” The woman giggles, answering his question. “I did live in Germany for a while when I was a teenager, but I was born and raised in Hampstead,” She explains.
“I’d never know,” He shakes his head slightly. “You very German-looking,” He adds.
“Well, my mother is half German and my father is totally German,” She says. “Granddad married a German lady, had my mom, she met my dad in an exchange program she was doing there. When she came home, he came looking for her shortly after.”
The waiter comes back with appetizers and the wine bottle Henry ordered. “Thanks,” The actor says to him. “Cheers,” The actor raises his wine glass to clink with hers.
“Cheers,” She smiles and takes a sip.
“About your parents,” He continues the conversation. “Sounds like a Hollywood rom-com,” Henry says and then, he leans forward on the table. “While we’re in this topic, I’m intrigued,” He starts.
“Okay,” Liese nods, nibbling on the appetizer.
“Do you know that I’ve played Superman, right?” He asks, frowning slightly while looking at her.
“Of course,” The woman nods again.
“Oh, okay,” He nods too. “It’s just because you’ve never mentioned anything related to it and people usually point it out right away,” He explains.
Liese chuckles at him. “I work with and very close to children, Cavill. I’d consider myself a really bad doctor for not knowing every superhero film, cartoons, and animations,” She says.
“It makes sense,” Henry agrees, chuckling along with her.
“I just never mentioned because I didn’t think it would gonna make a difference. Would it?” She asks, resting her chin on her palm.
“Not at all,” He shakes his head, opening a smile. “I’m glad you didn’t, actually,” He smiles. “So, tell me, how long have you been working at the foundation?”
Liese proceeds to tell him that she’s one of the founders of it, that’s why she’s the head of the medical staff. Angela Davies, the little girl that named the foundation, was the woman’s patient at St. Thomas’ and is in remission to this day because of her efforts along with her friend, Sierra Jones. So, the two doctors and the patient’s father, who happens to be a millionaire, started the foundation to help other kids.
Liese’s phone doesn’t stop ringing into her purse and she finally looks at it when their food arrives. There were three missed calls from Gustav along with a bunch of texts of him whining about her missing poker’s night. She ignores all of it and leaves her phone at the table, focusing back on their meal.
The conversation is very easygoing, but the doctor does most of the talking. Henry is trying to get to know her the best he can. She tells him that she practically has three jobs; the formal one at St. Thomas’ Hospital, at the Angela Davies Foundation and a private practice in which she sees patients at home, usually on her downtime. But she explains that she chose not to get paid for the work she does at the foundation and she’s very proud of it.
“I’m really sorry about this,” She says suddenly, taking her phone off the table after the third buzz.
“If you need to take this, I’m okay with it,” Henry reassures.
“No, it’s fine,” She shakes her head, locking the screen. “It’s just my brother annoying me for not coming to poker night,” Liese waves her hand nonchalantly. “He doesn’t believe I’m on a date,” She rolls her eyes.
The man frowns, pretty sure he had seen the name ‘Gustav’ on the screen. “How many brothers do you have, anyway?” He asks.
“Too many,” She widens her eyes slightly, taking a sip of the wine. “After my parents had my older brother,” The woman starts to explain after seeing his face.
“Anton,” He says.
“No, Wolfgang,” Liese corrects him with a chuckle. “Yeah, well. After they had Wolfie, they wanted a girl but Anton came along. They tried again and had me. It was supposed to be it. However, when I was five, my mother got pregnant by ‘accident’,” She makes air quotes. “Identical twins, Gustav and Otto.”
“No way,” Henry chuckles at said ‘accident’.
“Yeah,” The doctor nods. “So, I have four brothers,” She rests her chin on her palm. “This tends to scare guys away,” She confesses, looking at him.
“Well, not me,” He says with a smile.
She smiles at him too. “How about you?” Liese asks, picking up her fork.
“Oddly enough, I have four brothers, too,” The man replies.
“Any sister?” Now she’s the one with the questions because she genuinely didn’t know anything about him.
He shakes his head. “Only brothers.”
“Oh,” She makes a face. “Your poor mother,” The woman jokes.
Henry chuckles. “She’s a strong woman,” He says, clearly proud of her.
“I bet,” She smiles. “Are you older than the rest?”
“No,” The man shakes his head again. “I have three older brothers; Piers, Niki, and Simon; and one younger brother, Charlie.”
“Well, at least you’re not the one who’s always being compared to the others,” Liese chuckles.
“My family is not like that,” He explains.
“Good. Mine neither,” She sips her wine again.
“What do you mean when you said your brother doesn’t believe you’re on a date?” Henry asks, interested in that.
The woman pauses for a bit, licking her lips. “I don’t… Go on dates,” She replies slowly.
“What?” He laughs in disbelief. “You’re one of the most stunning women I’ve ever seen in my life. How come you don’t have guys asking you out?” The man asks, completely dumbfounded.
“I mean, they do,” Liese shrugs slightly. “I just don’t go,” She explains. “My last relationship was… disappointing, to say the least. So, I kinda gave up on that and focused on work,” Liese confesses. “I have a lot of that, anyway,” She chuckles bitterly.
“I’m sorry to hear that,” Henry says, sounding genuine. “And I hope you didn’t give up on it completely.”
“Well, I’m here, ain’t I?” She smiles at him.
“And I really appreciate it,” He says and gets a wink in response as she takes a bite of the food.
Liese’s phone vibrates on her lap and she has an idea. “This might sound idiotic, but do you mind if I take a photo of you?” She asks out of the blue. “I mean, you handsome as fuck, but I think it’d make my brother shut up,” She explains and he laughs.
“I don’t mind as long as you let me take photos of you too,” He bargains. “I’d love to brag about you to my brothers.”
“Photos?” She raises an eyebrow with a smile. “Well, that escalated quickly. I just need one,” She chuckles, raising her phone towards him. “Give me your best, Superman,” The woman says after taking a few pics of him serious and he chuckles at her words. “Thanks,” She bites her lips, choosing one picture.
“My turn?” He asks, taking his phone from the inner pocket of the jacket.
“Snap away, handsome,” Liese says, cropping the photo so it just shows from his cute chin and below. “Cameras don’t love me as they love you, though,” She smiles, glancing up at him. “I’m not a Hollywood star,” Liese teases him and looks back down at her phone and sending the photo to Gustav.
“I have to disagree on that, The man says. “You look amazing,” He adds. “But I want you to pose for me, too.”
He’s snapping photos of her since she said he could but she poses to him anyway and he takes quite a few amazing shots. Then, the woman’s phone vibrates on her lap again with a new text from Gustav and she glances down at the notification.
Hm, Jaeger-LeCoultre. Fancy. Very. Fancy. Who’s that? Show me his face.
She rolls her eyes at the text and decides to turn off the phone. “What did he say?” Henry asks, amused by her reaction.
“I think the only thing he saw was your watch,” She says, rolling her eyes.
He chuckles. “So, poker night?” The man furrows his brows.
“Well,” Liese chuckles. “My brothers always included me in everything and my family never had the gender separation nonsense. Like, this is for boys and this is for girls,” She explains.
“That sounds like parenting done right,” Henry says, making her smile wider.
“Exactly! That’s how I want to do in my family, too,” She says.
The lamp goes off in his head as the man sips the wine. Finally, the questions that really matter to know one’s intentions for the long term.
“You want a family?” He asks.
She nods right away. “Of course. And a big one, too,” She replies, unintentionally pleasing Henry with it. “I think I’d feel void without at least three kids,” She chuckles. “I don’t know about you, but my teenage mornings were very chaotic with a family of seven and I honestly miss it.”
“Mine was, too,” Henry smiles, nodding too. “And I quite agree with you. I’d feel like something’s missing.”
“Yes!” The woman doesn’t hide her excitement. “But I’d like to have more than one girl so she won’t suffer alone the pain that is to share the bathroom with boys,” She chuckles.
“Two girls sound nice,” He agrees again. “To be honest, I can’t stand the thought of guys touching my baby girl or girls. So, I change my mind, no girls,” He says and she laughs.
“You’re so silly,” Liese shakes her head slightly. “So, tell me more about that role you’re trying to get. The one that has hair like mine,” She asks and she’s glad she did because Henry’s eyes light up right away.
For the rest of the diner, she listens Henry talking about this fantasy character named Geralt. He explains how he’s annoying the hell out of the producers since he heard Netflix would make a TV series of it.
They share desert and the actor doesn’t allow Liese to pay half of the bill. He helps her to put her coat the foyer of the restaurant and slips his own before they step out in the cold night. Once again, Henry makes sure to open and close the door for Liese before rushing to the driver’s seat.
Henry tries to persuade her into going to his house by saying that Kal misses her, but the woman declines politely. She has to wake up even earlier tomorrow for her shift at St. Thomas’, so, sleeping in his place is completely out of question.
The drive back to her apartment building is much faster but equally entertaining as they continue talking. However, when he parks in front of it and immediately reaches the door handle, Liese stops him with a hand on his arm.
“Thank you so much for the amazing evening, I had an amazing time,” Liese says honestly, a satisfied smile playing on her lips as she stares into his eyes.
“I had an amazing time, too,” Henry says, smiling at her. “You’re a wonderful woman,” He watches as she unbuckles her belt.
“And you’re a real gentleman,” She starts to lean closer to him. “A dying kind,” She whispers against his lips before sealing it with hers.
His large hands cup her face and she pulls him closer from the neck, deepening the kiss. Things start to get heated quickly and, with a simple hand on her waist, Henry pulls the woman over the car console to his lap. She runs her hands on his chest and he doesn’t realize as she stuffs something in the front pocket of his suit jacket.
She stops everything when he slides his lips to her neck and collarbone, squeezing her ass and making her moan. “I have to get in,” Liese whispers, capturing his lips one last time tonight. “Don’t let Kal have this one,” She says, patting his chest and confusing him as she climbs out of his lap. “Have a good night, Mr. Cavill. I’ll call you,” Liese pecks his lips and winks at him before opening the door and leaving his car.
Henry is completely baffled as he watches her hips sway with a semi hard-on into his pants. Then, a few seconds after she disappeared into the building, he chuckles, shaking his head.
“What a woman,” He says to himself, pushing his hair out of his face and restarting his car.
The man drives home and Kal greets him as usual. He puts food for the big bear before starting to undress. His mind was already going a thousand miles while thinking about Liese, but then he finds what she stuffed into his pocket. Slowly, he pulls the small, lacy piece of underwear from it.
Now it makes sense what she said about not letting Kal have that one.
Henry stares at it for a whole minute, wondering at what point the woman slid it off because he didn’t notice at all. She was definitely wearing it because it smells like her and it’s still warm. With his mouth still dropped open, Henry grabs his phone and snaps a photo of the pantie.
Are you kidding me? When did you take this off?, he texts her.
While we’re slightly making out in the car. I hope you liked the gift ;p, she texts back almost immediately.
I did, but I prefer taking it out myself, Henry replies.
I’m sorry, my shift at St. Thomas’ starts very early tomorrow. I’ll repay you soon, I promise xo, her last text says.
The man simply shakes his head with a smile on his face while Liese does the same in her apartment.

The Perfect Moment
Word Count: 1,866/AO3
Pairing: New Dream/Rapunzel x Eugene
Summary: Eugene tries to find the perfect moment to propose to Rapunzel.
Author’s Note: Hi everyone! This is my contribution for Day 5 of New Dream Appreciation Week - Proposal! I’d just like to reiterate that I, idiotically, have not watched seasons 2 and 3 of Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure (well, I watched one random episode at 3 in the morning, but that’s a different story for a different day). While I know there were multiple proposals and rings from both Eugene and Rapunzel, I actually haven’t seen any of them, unfortunately. So, in true “me” fashion, this is a Modern!AU that I pulled out of thin air. Seriously, I don’t know how I managed to come up with this - I’ve never been proposed to, and all of my friends have gotten engaged in Disney World. Definitely not my area of expertise lol. I hope you enjoy it!
If you asked him directly, Eugene would’ve denied being a planner. He lived his life on the edge, doing things on a whim. Spontaneity. Until he met Rapunzel - then he subconsciously became a planner. Although outwardly, he tried to play it cool and pretend like he was too focused on living in the moment to care about the future, that couldn’t be further from the truth. It only became evident to him when he purchased an engagement ring for Rapunzel and carried it around for months, unsure of when and how to propose to her.
Like the night they went to dinner and she looked so beautiful. He wanted to pull the ring out of his pocket and propose right there, but then there was a fire in the kitchen and they all evacuated, so they ended up getting fast food and calling it a night. So, he scrapped his plans and decided it would be best to wait for a better opportunity.
There was the weekend they went to New York City where he thought about proposing a thousand times. Like inside the Museum of Modern Art; the vibes weren’t right, though, and that plan quickly went out the window. He thought about doing it at the ice skating rink at Bryant Park, but then someone injured themselves while skating and he knew he would’ve felt guilty for taking away the attention from someone who’d just been hurt. He very seriously thought about doing it in front of the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center, and just as he was about to pull out the ring and get down on one knee, a couple less than ten feet away from them got engaged. Forget Times Square, that place was filled with couples getting engaged. And then just like that, the weekend was gone and so was the opportunity to propose in New York.
He thought about doing it on New Years Eve, surrounded by their friends and family at a party, and instead, he found himself in a fog.
“Hey,” Rapunzel said, shaking his arm slightly.
He shook his head in an attempt to come out of his trance. “Huh?”
“Are you alright?” She asked, a glimmer of concern in her eyes.
“Oh, yeah, sorry. I was deep in thought.”
“Okay,” she smiled. “Just checking.”
And thus, another opportunity fizzled before his eyes. He was immensely grateful that Rapunzel appeared to be none the wiser to his plans, failed or otherwise. The thought was on his mind constantly, but he had a long list of everything that it had to be: perfect, for starters. Unique. Unforgettable. Extraordinary. And daily life just wasn’t like that; it was ordinary and mundane. They went to work and ran their errands, and that was that.
He was certain that he was going to do it on Valentine’s Day. He had the entire evening planned out; they were going to go to see a show at the theatre, and then to a fancy restaurant and he was going to do it - no more inhibitions. Until he got stuck late at work.
“Hello?”
“Hey, sunshine,” he said into the phone, trying his best to keep his voice from cracking.
“Hi, baby!” She exclaimed. “Sorry, I’ve got my hands full and I couldn’t see who was calling. But I’m so excited for tonight.”
“Yeah, about that…” he started, but trailed off.
“Oh no, what’s wrong?”
“I’m stuck working late,” he sighed. “I’m really sorry, I know you were looking forward to tonight.”
“Oh,” she said, the slightest hint of disappointment in her voice for a split second. “Well we can always reschedule! It’s just a day, after all.”
She was ever the optimist, wasn’t she? If only he felt the same way. He wasn’t bitter, but it was yet another wrench in his plans. And this one wasn’t for lack of trying, or because someone else stole the moment, either. It was just sheer bad luck.
So he sat on it for a long, long time. There were no more special days, no more special trips. Time was passing quickly, and it was starting to bother him more and more, and eventually it became noticeable.
“Is everything okay, Eugene?” She asked while they were sitting at the dinner table one night.
He looked up. “Of course.”
“You’re lying.”
His eyes widened. “What?”
“Something isn’t right,” she said, placing her hand on top of his. “You haven’t been yourself lately. Is something bothering you?”
“No, everything’s fine,” he lied. “Things have just been rough at work. You know how it is.”
“Okay,” she nodded, her eyes sympathetic. “You’ll tell me when you’re ready.”
He didn’t answer. And he hated himself for that. He hated himself for lying to her, and he hated himself for not doing it right then and there. But the most perfect woman in the world was sitting right in front of him, and she deserved nothing less than perfection.
He decided that he’d have to work harder to disguise his feelings. And more time passed. He thought about doing it when they went to the park at sunset, but they were being eaten alive by mosquitoes and had to leave before he could even think about doing anything. He thought about doing it the night they sat outside and stargazed, until their neighbors came outside and ruined the moment. He contemplated doing it on her birthday, but that plan fell to pieces when he realized that she should have her birthday to herself; getting engaged should be a separate day to celebrate. He thought about doing it when they were laying in bed one night; she was reading a book and just as he was about to clear his throat, she leaned in to kiss him goodnight and turned off her lamp. And the moment had escaped yet again.
And that brought them to mid-July. He’d been carrying around the ring for eight months, letting it sit in its box instead of on her finger, where it belonged. The beach, the pier, the mountain they hiked, and the drive down the coast became other missed opportunities along the way.
When he woke up that morning, he wasn’t surprised to see that she was already gone. It wasn’t unusual for her to get up early on a Saturday to run her errands. He laid in bed for a while, brooding and muttering to himself before he got up and decided to go on a long drive to clear his head. It didn’t help, of course. He wasn’t only wasting time, but also gas. He felt totally incompetent; the ring was burning a hole in his pocket and he felt like he wasn’t being honest with Rapunzel.
He returned home in the early afternoon, feeling no better than he did before he left. He took a deep breath as he pushed his key into the lock, unsure what he would do if Rapunzel noticed his sullen expression - it was more a matter of when than if, at this point, though.
The living room was covered in a large tarp, an easel and blank canvas in the center of the room. The coffee table was pushed into the kitchen and a bouquet of sunflowers wrapped in brown paper were resting on the counter. Every blind and curtain was open, so the entire room was illuminated with natural light.
“Hey!” Rapunzel called, emerging from the hallway with a stool in her hands. “I wasn’t sure when you were coming back, so I turned the living room into a studio. I hope you don’t mind.”
He was immediately taken aback by her appearance. She was wearing denim overall shorts, with a white floral off-the-shoulder top underneath. She had a light blue headband in her hair, a small knot sitting perfectly in the center. She placed the stool next to the easel and put her hands on her hips. She looked so happy, and completely at ease with the world.
“No,” he shook his head, dumbfounded. “I don’t mind at all.”
“I figured you wouldn’t,” she giggled. “Oh, and guess what!”
“What?”
“I went to the market today and they said the sunflowers bloomed two weeks early! Isn’t that just incredible?” She gushed.
“Yeah, that is something,” he said, his voice low.
“The only thing is, I can’t remember where I put the vase. I’d like to get them in some water, but I don’t know where it is,” she said, bringing her fingers up to her face.
He tried to think but his brain wasn’t working.
“Ooh!” She exclaimed suddenly, clapping her hands together. “I remember what I did with it!”
She raced down the hallway, and he heard the closet door open. A minute later she was back with the vase in his hand, and he realized that he never moved from the entryway to their apartment. He was standing there, shoes on and keys in hand, frozen.
“I found it! I was keeping all of my sewing stuff in it temporarily,” she explained, bringing the empty vase into the kitchen. She navigated around the coffee table that was taking up most of the room, and he heard the tap turn on, followed by the sound of paper being torn away. A few seconds passed and she came out, holding the vase full of sunflowers in her hands. She was smiling brightly when she said “See! Look at how nice that looks.”
She went back into the living room and placed the vase on the stool. And then he decided it was now or never.
“Marry me,” he said, his voice practically a whisper.
“What was that?” She asked, her back facing him.
He dropped his keys on the floor, startling her, and then charged in her direction. She turned to face him and he repeated himself.
“Marry me,” he said, breathlessly.
Several looks crossed her face - confusion, shock, delight. “I-uh, w-what?” She stuttered.
And so he pulled the ring box out of his pocket, got down on one knee, and opened it. Both of her hands flew up to cover her mouth and her eyes widened as she watched his every move.
“Rapunzel, you’re my best friend. I love everything about you - your kindness, your ability to see the world in a positive light, your creativity and your sassiness. You inspire me to be a better man each and every day. I love going on adventures with you and I want all of our adventures to be together. I know you're the only one I want to share the rest of my life with. Will you marry me?”
“Yes!” She nodded, tears pooling in her eyes and offered him her shaky left hand.
He slid the ring onto her finger and stood up, and immediately she was in his arms.
“I can’t believe this,” she blubbered, when she finally pulled away. “How long have you been planning this?”
“A long time,” he admitted, sheepishly. “I’ve had the ring for about eight months, and I kept trying to find the perfect moment, but it wasn’t easy.”
“Nothing could be more perfect than this,” she promised, leaning up to press a kiss to his lips.

Baby its Cold Outside (PART 11)

It’s never too late to go back to school

*****************************************************************************************************
Due to your current condition hero work was just not a thing anymore. And you’d be damned if you ended up as someones secretary. So that’s how you ended up here at UA attending a meeting with All Might and and Principle Nezu.
There wasn't exactly a spot open on the teaching staff. You werent exactly qualified either. But after all your work with Dylan you thought maybe you had some unique insight on how you could push your quirk and applying it in other ways.
You really wanted this job but you didn't want to come across as desperate. It had only been about a week since you and Bakugo found out you were pregnant and you hadn’t told anyone yet. You knew you would have to tell them though and you just hoped it wouldn't be a deal breaker.
“So Y/n” All Might took his seat as he addressed you, “Why do you want to be a teacher at UA? Hero work not what you thought it was going to be?”
You tried not let your emotions show on your face. You assume he's talking about when you were shot a few months back. They probably think you’re looking to retire from hero work.
“Well I dont think it’s ever what anyone expects if we’re being honest. Sure we’re told it’ll be dangerous and it’ll be hard but we’re never told about how gritty it can get. But no I wouldn't say that’s why I’m here. In fact I cant think of anything more heroic than helping the next generation grow to be the best heros they can be.”
Principle Nezu spoke up, “I couldn't have said that any better myself dear y/n. Teaching is very rewarding in its own way. But it also has its challenges. Students can be quite stubborn, disobedient, or emotional sometimes. They are children after all. Are you equipped to deal with such challenges?”
You refrained from scoffing instead giving him a soft smile, “With all due respect sir. I live with Bakugo Katsuki and I think we know he is all three of those things you just mentioned.”
He nodded and took a sip of his tea, “Yes I remember... Very passionate that one. So aside from your desire to help and your plethora of patience, what do you have to offer UA?”
You took in a deep breath, “Well ever since my accident I’ve been working with a quirk trainer and she has taught me to look at quirks in a new light. Sure by the time most students reach UA they usually have a pretty decent understanding of what their quirks are but I want them to look beyond their basic applications. I want to teach them to push themselves and to look beyond their known limits and find all the many ways they can apply themselves.”
All Might smiled, “Ah yes I heard about all of your new tricks. As someone who was once your teacher I can say that I never would have thought they were possible. I took your quirk for what it was a face value and didn't think to try to expand beyond that.”
Principle Nezu nodded, “Yes but as impressive as that is I don’t believe you ever truly answered why you want to retire from hero work? You said why you wanted to teach, but a lot of our teaching staff also still work as heros. You have expressed a desire to be a full time teacher. Why is that?”
Alright this was it. You knew you had to tell them. It was only ethical but you had just wanted to keep it a secret for a little longer. “Well there has been a recent development that I believe would hinder my ability to preform to the best of my ability...”
All Might sighed, “Are you referring to your injury a few months back?”
You assumed Midoriya had told his mentor all about that night. You could see in All Might’s eyes that he knew how traumatic it must have been. “Actually no although I can understand why that is what you would assume.” You took a moment to collect your thoughts. “As you both know Bakugo and I have been dating for a better part of a year now. And although we haven't told anyone yet... so we would appreciate your discretion... but we’re.. well more specifically I... am uh... pregnant...”
It was the first time you had said the words out loud to someone other than Bakugo and it just felt weird, but in the best way possible.
All Might slammed his cup of tea on his desk. “I wasn’t expecting that! Oh my goodness congratulations! I am so very happy for you! I promise we won't tell a soul!” His emotions caught you off guard, “I apologize for my outburst but you guys where my first round of students and in a way I think of you like my children.. and to think one, NO TWO of them are having a baby... TOGETHER! Oh it’s just all so overwhelming!”
Principle Nezu put a hand on All Mights shoulder in an attempt to calm him down. “Well seeing as you answered all of our questions better than most other faculty members here, I would think its safe to say that we could find a position here for you. Temporarily of course should you choose to return to hero work once the child is born.”
You shot straight up out of your chair, “Thank you sir! You have no idea how much this means to Bakugo and I!” You bowed, “I promise I will not disappoint you!”
He giggled, “You never have before, so I don’t know why you would start now.”
The second you stepped through the door to your home Bakugo was there sweeping you up into a hug and carrying you to the couch like the idiot he is, “I can walk you know! Put me down you caveman!”
He plopped down on the couch with you in his lap, “Can’t a guy be nice to his pregnant girlfriend?”
You gave him a shit eating grin, “Well seeing as most boyfriends wait to carry their girlfriends over the threshold until after they're married...”
He narrowed his scarlet eyes at you, “And you say I’m impatient.” He clearly didn't want to talk about it right now because before you could push him on it he changed the subject, “SO! How did the interview go? Did you get the job?”
His hands were starting to rub soothing patterns on your thigh. You knew he wanted you to get this job. Shit he probably wanted you to get it more than you did. It was also no secret that he would totally be okay if you stayed there after the baby was born and just made it your new profession.
“Well I had my interview with Principle Nezu and All Might. We had tea, it was lovely. It didn't last very long though, I’d say probably only about fifteen minutes or so. They both say Hi by the way. And congratulations, I felt like it was only responsible to tell them but they promised they wouldn't tell any-”
“Did you fucking get the job or not?! Just spit it out!”
You loved how easy it was to get under his skin, “You know once this kid pops out you're going to need to learn some patience. Kids love to tell long and pointless stories. They’re all long middles with no beginning and no end.”
“Ugh much like this conversation! Just tell me already! I’ve been anxious all fucking day!”
You gave him a small smirk, “Yes babe, I got the job.”
He crushed his lips to yours, “Fuck yeah! That’s my girl! You’re going to be the most badass teacher at UA! You won't take shit from any of those snot nosed kids.”
You cocked and eyebrow at him, “I believe you were once one of those snot nosed kids babe...”
He laughed, “Yeah and look at me now! A functioning member of society all because of you.”
You just rolled your eyes, “Says the guy who just yesterday yelled at Zuko, who is a dog by the way, because you didn't like his tone?”
He huffed, “Well yeah! He was arguing with me when I was trying to get him to go outside while it was raining! He needs to man up and pee in the rain! Kids are different they know better and talk shit anyways!”
You chuckled, “Speaking of kids remember we have that dinner with Dylan and her family tonight.”
He gripped you tighter and groaned, “Ugh do we have to? I kind of wanted to celebrate your new job... you know sans clothing.”
“As tempting as that sounds how about we celebrate, you know with clothes on first? Then when we get home we’ll revisit the naked option?”
He whined, “But you’re always so tired! Not that I’m complaining you're literally growing a whole ass human but I miss our sexy time!”
You gave him a weird look, “Did you really just say sexy time? You’ve been spending too much time with Denki.”
“Dont you dare compare me to that degenerate pervert!”
You laughed as you stood up and headed towards the bedroom, “Whatever you say babe. I’m going to get ready, she said to be there by 5. I’ll lay out an outfit for you.”
He grumbled as he followed you, “I can pick out my own clothes you know.”
You rolled your eyes, “A black t-shirt and sweatpants are not appropriate attire for dinner.”
“UGH! FINE!”
And that's how you showed up to dinner with an irritable Katsuki because you made him wear a nice button down shirt with khakis. “Who am I? Jake from fucking state farm? What if we run into a villain? I can’t work in khakis.”
“Well its a good thing we have today off then. No villains to fight.” You gave his hand a squeeze. Now remember her kid is like obsessed with Ground Zero so... try to play nice.”
He scoffed as he reached out to ring the doorbell, “Okay Mom...”
Next thing you know the door is being ripped open by girl who couldn't have been older than 6. She was wearing a Ground Zero t-shirt and her hair was pulled into two tight black ponytails. She stared straight in Katsuki's eyes for a few seconds before she whispered, “Hi Mr. Zero. Did you know you could use your quirk to turn your hands into guns?”
Bakugo gave you a weird look and you just shrugged, “Huh?”
“Kitty! What did we talk about?” Dylan was now standing behind her daughter looking angry.
“Asking permission before reading someones quirk?”
“Exactly now say you’re sorry.”
Kitty looked up at your boyfriend with the most epic puppy dog eyes you had ever seen and you could Bakugo melting on the spot, “I’m sorry Mr. Zero. Please forgive me”
You could tell Bakugo was freaked out so you gave him an encouraging nudge, “Uhh. yeah whatever. dont worry about it shrimp.”
Her eyes lit up, “MOM! DID YOU HEAR THAT HE CALLED ME SHRIMP!” She was now tugging on Dylans sleeve.
Dylan gave you an apologetic look, “Sorry she’s just really excited. We’ve talked about our manners for a good part of the day but it seems thats all gone out the window.” She started leading you to the diner table, “I heard you like spicy food so I’ve made spicy pad thai. I hope that’s okay.”
You could just feel the heartburn now but you didn't want to be rude and you knew Bakugo would love it.
You took your seat next to Bakugo and being the caveman he is he immediately started eating without waiting for anyone else. “I apologize Dylan. You see we had the same talk about manors on the way here but it looks like he wasn’t listening either.”
Kitty leaned over to Bakugo and whispered, “Is your mommy as strict as my mommy?” It took a few seconds to realize she was referring to you but when he did he lost it. He started laughing louder than you had ever herd him laugh, well at least while he’s sober.
He put a hand on your thigh, “She is a mommy but she’s not my mommy even though she may act like it sometimes.” He chuckled and gave your thigh a squeeze, “But believe me she can be a pain in the a- neck sometimes.”
You elbowed him in the side,”Watch your language.”
He looked offended, “Hey I caught myself didn't I?” He turned back to Kitty, “See this is what I’m talking about. She’s being mean to me and I didn't even do anything.”
Dylan gave you a wide eyed expression, “I’m sorry did he just say you’re a mommy?”
You sighed as you slapped him on the back of the hat, “Yes. He did. I was going to tell you tonight anyways but I guess the cat is out of the bag. I won't be able to keep training with you seeing as we are expecting.”
Even though you just hit him, he still had a super goofy grin on his face as he leaned over and put a hand on you stomach. “Yeah so Kitty if you ever see her scolding me it’s just because she's practicing to be a mommy, she’s not really being mean.”
Kitty’s eyes went to where his hand was on your stomach, “OH MY GOSH! THERE’S GOING TO BE A BABY GROUND ZERO!”
Dylan shot daggers at her daughter, “Kitty inside voice please and please whatever you do don’t tell any of your friends school. This is top secret okay? Do you understand?”
She just grinned and nodded her head before whispering something in Bakugo’s ear that made him laugh. Well you guess he had a new friend now.
The rest of the night was basically just Bakugo playing with Kitty while you and Dylan talked about pregnancy. It was nice to be able to talk to someone about it. She was very excited about your new job and promised she would continue to help you anyway she could.
Only after Bakugo had thoroughly worn Kitty out after a game of heros and villains did he return to the adults. “Hey Dylan what did Kitty mean earlier when she said I could use my hands as guns?”
Dylan stared into his eyes for a moment and you could see the chilling affect it had on him. “Much like how guns use very small explosions to propel their bullets, if done correctly you could potentially pick up debris, rocks, or small objects and explode them from your hand much like a gun. It would be a smaller and quieter alternative to the explosions you’re prone to using. Feel free to stop by the gym sometime and maybe we can figure it out”
He stared at his hands, “Huh... I just might take you up on that.”
Later that night you were walking up the walkway to your home when Katsuki snaked his arms around your waste, “Hey so what do you say? Did I behave myself well enough to earn a little dessert?”
His mouth was on your neck as you fished for your keys in your purse, “I’d say so.. Mr. Zero.”
You could feel his smile on your neck, “That brat was adorable wasn’t she?”
You finally got the door open, but you froze, “Hey Katsuki? I thought you left a light on for Zuko?”
He stepped infant of you protectively, “I did.. someones been in the house...”
“SURPRISE!”
The lights were flicked on and everyone was coming out from their hiding spots. The poor couch Midoriya had been hiding behind had a light singe from where Bakugo had shot at it. “WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU EXTRAS DOING IN MY HOUSE!”
All Might stepped out from the kitchen rubbing his neck, “That would be my fault. I know I promised I wouldn't tell anyone but... I kind of told everyone. I’m SORRY!”
Kirishima was running over towards you, “Holy SHIT! I can't believe this is happening! I’m going to be an uncle!”
Katsuki gave him a death glare, “I gave you a key for EMERGENCIES ONLY DAMNIT!”

-
“ y/n, aren’t you heading home yet?”
the sound of your typing slows to a halt as you finally look up from your computer screen after staring at it the whole day, blinking furiously in an attempt to drive the tiredness away. sohye’s head pops out from behind the door of your office, concern briefly flickering across her face as she takes in the mess of your usually organised surroundings. papers were scattered across your table, you knew there were at least three different files lying open on the couch and a multitude of post it notes were pasted across the department whiteboard that you had (with much effort) managed to roll into the room.
you attempt a reassuring smile at your closest friend and colleague in the department, although at this point you’re sure it looks more like a grimace.
“well, i’m hoping to be done with this by 7?” you catch the clock ticking to 6.45 out of the corner of your eye and inwardly sigh, “scratch that. maybe 8?”
sohye frowns for a moment, before stepping into your office. “i could come in early tomorrow to finish up the rest of the pitch and presentation? especially since you’re supposed to be on leave. minjung said she would be in early as well!”
“i’ll finish up what i can and email the rest to the department to finish. don’t worry so much and go home, shoo shoo.” you wave a hand at her and she nods somewhat reluctantly, turning around to leave.
“you better make sure you leave at 8.” she calls out as she turns to exit your office, not before fixing you with a stern glare that you know from past experience meant that she wasn’t playing around.
“yes mom.” you drone, waving your hands quickly at her in a shooing motion. “please leave safely.”
“i swear i’ll swap all the pen caps on your coloured pens-”, you tune out the rest of her exasperated shouts as she heads to the elevators, staring at your computer screen for a second before running a hand down your face in frustration.
today was not your day.
when you had woken up, you were more than prepared to have a week of well-deserved rest and relaxation. what you discovered was an urgent email from your boss telling you that you had to come into work for an emergency (leave or no leave), you had managed to fall and bruise your arm before even leaving the house and spilled coffee on your favourite blouse. upon reaching work, you realised an incredibly dumb tech intern had managed to wipe out all the files pertaining to the upcoming pitch your company had prepared for a major client (hence the emergency) and that your department had to redo it all by the weekend.
“and of course, all this just has to happen the one time i decide to clear the leave i have backlogged. and when he’s finally back home.” you grumble to yourself as you grudgingly continue typing. a chime sounds and you reach over to grab your phone, unlocking it to see messages from said person you were talking about.
6.54pm
[goat husbando]: hey hey i landed already. how u doing? .o.
[goat husbando]: also its raining did you pack an umbrella?
[you]: i’m ok
[you]: i think so?
[you]: should have a spare one in my office anyway
[goat husbando]: ok see u soon :”)
a smile creeps onto your face, as it sinks in that your husband is finally back in the country after what seemed like an eternity (admittedly only six months) on tour in europe and america. taking a moment to stretch your sore muscles from sitting all day, you think back to how you even met him and wonder how you managed to survive it all.
- 24th july, 9.32pm. -
you take a sip of your chai latte, taking in the skyline of seoul before you. "being up here really puts my worries into perspective." you mutter to yourself.
all of a sudden, a body crashes into you and you yelp in surprise, hands instinctively grabbing onto the railing to support your weight. your chai latte, on the other hand, wasn't so lucky and you stare mournfully as it falls from your grip.
"oh my god, i am so so sorry! are you okay? ok i guess you're not, i just made you lose your drink. damn it younghyun, look at what you did-"
turning to look at the situation after making sure your limbs were all intact, you meet a tall boy, his blonde hair tousled by the wind, wire rimmed glasses perched on his nose. he was clad in an oversized flannel, a simple black shirt and blue denim jeans completing the outfit.
"um-" you make an effort to get this attention, seeing him arguing with another boy, his hair dyed with purple hues.
he spins around, hands flailing in desperation, eyes large from worry. "i am so sorry! aH what can i do to make it up to you??"
you can't help it. at the sight of him panicking immensely over your spilt latte, you burst into laughter, hands wrapping around your middle. "you.. you look like... like an octopus." you manage to get out in between breaths.
the boy ceased all movement abruptly, moving to lean against the railing next to you. "i guess i kind of do huh?" he chuckles to himself. extending a hand towards you, he smiles - a grin so bright and disarming that it takes your breath away for a split second.
"park jaehyung. how about i buy another drink for you?"
you guessed that the rest, like people said was history.
but the past six months truly felt like the longest six months of your life. it was his first tour after the both of you got married and you convinced yourself that things would be fine. life without jaehyung seemed to function normally at first, you still woke up in the mornings and went to work, just that the bed seemed a little larger now, blankets a little colder when you wrapped yourself in them. skype sessions were irregular given the time differences, but you both tried your best and you would be lying if you said you weren’t happy that you had a folder of pictures dedicated to one park jaehyung falling asleep in the midst of conversation. by the third month of the tour, you were in “peak withdrawal mode” as sohye had termed, with every small thing reminding you of the tall idiot who occupied your heart.
grocery shopping and having to stretch for items that he would normally reach easily for. subconsciously cooking for two instead of one. turning around excitedly to show him a meme and realising he wasn't around. missing his warmth as the weather turned colder and you dug out old sweaters to compensate.
the fourth month was when you started wearing his shirts to bed. somehow they still smelled like him, a comforting mix of sandalwood and grapefruit. the video calls lessened as the weeks went by, what with how tired he was from the consecutive shows. still, you pushed on - burying yourself in work and department meetings, refusing to allow yourself time to dwell on the missing presence of park jaehyung.
and then you re-watched the proposal video.
it was a random evening on the weekend and you decided to clear out some random bits and bobs you collected in your drawers over the years, when you saw the disc. once the video started, you immediately knew what it was. the video was shaky and badly lit, but watching it, you could see every moment that happened in your mind as clear as day.
- 23rd july 2018, 11.54pm -
“isn’t the view nice?” the camera lens veers into your face as you lean against a metal railing, making you flinch and jump back slightly.
"not so close, alex!" you laugh and push the camera backwards, turning back to the open view in front of you. you take a deep breath of the cool night air and stretch your arms out, feeling the wind rush between your fingertips.
"hey hey of course i'm excited! i haven't visited you in ages and to get to tour seoul with you? have some sympathy for your best friend ok." the voice behind the camera rises in pitch and the screen fumbles for a second before readjusting and a blonde appears next to you, holding up a peace sign.
the video ends up focusing on you again, back to leaning against the railing, eyes drinking in the night scenery - watching the city lights of seoul twinkle beneath you.
"you really like this place huh?" alex asks again.
you nod, smiling into the distance. "i met jaehyung here. about seven years ago? and we came here a lot for dates, it's quiet and hardly anyone can be bothered to walk up here since it's only footpaths up to this peak. we just sat around, ate take-out and talked together. i remember he asked me out here too. he brought his acoustic guitar and sang 'best part' before asking me to be his girlfriend."
you turn around to look at her, eyes narrowing slightly before you spot jaehyung behind her, carrying his well-worn acoustic guitar.
he slowly walks towards you, a grin on his face as he strums the guitar.
"if you love me, i can love you till the end. so stay with me don't go anywhere. you will be without a doubt, my last love story. so please be my finale."
he reaches you, taking off his guitar and leans down to give you a quick kiss on the forehead. kneeling in front of you, he grasps your hands and takes a breath.
"hey y/n. wow ok, i'm totally more nervous than i thought i was going to be. ok ok. we met here on this day-", he quickly looks down at his watch, "on this day seven years ago. meeting you has changed my life, as cliche as it sounds. during these seven years, you've supported me through all the good times and the bad, even when i might have been out of the country and not able to do the same for you. i once asked you to be my girlfriend here. but now, i want to ask another question. is that ok?"
you can only nod in response, tears already gathering in the corners of your eyes.
"y/n, would you do be the honour of being my wife?"
"yes, yes! park jaehyung, i would love to be your wife."
you paused the video then, curling into a ball on the couch. the apartment had never seemed emptier than at that moment, jaehyung’s missing larger than life presence causing an absence that left a gaping hole in your life. even the dish towels looked sadder, you laughed while blinking back tears as you made your nightly cup of tea. a few minutes later, you were seated by your bedside, staring at the cup of hot honey lemon you had somehow subconsciously made. it was jaehyung’s favourite drink before bed and as the scent of honey flooded your nose, you broke down. that night, you cried yourself to sleep listening to his albums, missing the feeling of his arms around you.
a loud knock on the door breaks you out of your reminiscing and you look up, mouth dropping open in surprise.
"someone requested for a delivery of one tall handsome man?"
park jaehyung leans languidly against the door of your office, a cheeky smirk on his face. his hair messily ruffled from the plane ride, one hand in his jacket pocket and the other holding a multitude of plastic bags.
"what-" you begin, when he shuffles over immediately, index finger out and shushing you.
when did he get here from the airport? how?
you were stunned, mind torn between wanting to run over to hug him and struck by how well he knew you.
"i figured i would pick my lovely wife up from work today. and i bought some takeout along the way too - it's your favourite - sushi and some strawberry shortcake from that small bakery you like. i got the car parked downstairs and i know you're definitely tired."
he places the food down on the office table, leaning down to peck your forehead as he somehow manages to simultaneously save the work on your laptop and shut it down. "so, how about say we head home hm?"
he cocks his head at you, and as you stare into his eyes, you know there's only one correct answer. you can never refuse park jaehyung. so you shut your eyes briefly, savouring the weight of his hand as he strokes your hair before getting up to pack your belongings.
"ah, i forgot. younghyun invited us to dinner tomorrow. wanna go?" he asks without looking at you, hands tapping away on his phone.
and you suddenly realise that he's always asking the questions. always making sure you're comfortable. always being there to catch you before you fall. you set your half-packed bag down on the table and reach out, tugging the edge of his coat.
"hey." you lick your lips, watch as his eyes trace the edges of your face. "park jaehyung, can i kiss you?"
his eyes imperceptibly widen, hand reaching up to run his fingers through his hair as he grins teasingly. "how can i say no when you're asking me like that y/n?", he whispers, voice catching slightly on your name.
so, you reach a hand out, cupping his face and pull him down towards you as you tiptoe to reach him. the warmth of his lips on yours grounds you, releasing a tension you didn't even know you had and you snake your other hand around his waist, drawing him closer. his hands settle around your lower back, tongue slipping into your mouth as you him kiss deeper.
when you finally break away, face slightly flushed and lips redder than before, you catch a glimpse of jaehyung's smirk and refuse to look him in the eye. "you really missed me, didn't you?" he traces a finger down the side of your cheekbones.
your response is to bury your face into his chest, breathing in the familiar scent of sandalwood. "i did. i really did miss you."
"mm. i would love to stand here and hug you all day but the food's gonna get cold babe. besides, you got me to yourself all night." he slowly untangles himself from your embrace, and you proceed to gather up your things. fingers firmly intertwined with his as you leave the office, your heart skips a beat as you look up at jaehyung.
your husband is finally home.

Amy Farrah Fowler Prompts
1 “I gave you one job! Keep an eye on him/her. How hard is that?”
2 “Thank you for understanding.” “Of course I understand. NAME, there's something else I've been wanting to say, but before I do, I just. I want you to know you don't have to say it back. I know you're not ready and I don't want you to say it just because social convention dictates —“ “I love you, too.” “You said it.”
3 “NAME does not get lucky.” “You and me both, brother.”
4 “Do you have any idea how hard it is to laugh at a knock knock joke that starts ‘Knock Knock Knock, NAME. Knock Knock Knock, NAME. Knock Knock Knock, NAME’?”
5 “It's too late. He's/She’s been murdered by someone in this room. Welcome to another classic NAME murder mystery dinner.” “I'm leaving.”
6 [knocks three times] NAME 1, NAME 2, NAME 3. [repeats three times] “He's/She’s never going to stop doing that, is he/she?” “I don't mind. I'm hoping to put his/her love of repetition to good use someday.”
7 “Do I really force you to do things you don't want to?” “Yeah, but it's okay.” “How is it okay?” “I promised myself if I ever got friends I'd do whatever they said. Really, I'm lucky you found me before a cult did.”
8 “You are aware that your ritualistic knocking behavior is symptomatic of obsessive-compulsive disorder?” “Is not. Is not. Is not.” “Denial. Denial. Denial.”
9 “What is your problem?” “It's Valentine's day. We're supposed to be having a romantic weekend.” “Oh, really? 'cause I remember you saying this trip was going to be something we could both enjoy. Did you mean that or were you just trying to trick me?” “Fine, it's true. I deserve romance and I didn't know how else to make it happen.”
10 “Well, wait. What if, just this once, we suspend the date night parameters and you stay later?” “Well, as long as we're suspending the parameters. I could stay really late and we could have our first sleepover.” “That's a big step.” “It's a big fort.”
11 “NAME, that was beautiful.” “If you didn't press record —“ “I pressed it!”
12 “Hi, NAME.” “Hello.” “Are you feeling any better?” “Physically, yes, but I'm upset because everyone's mad at me for no good reason.” “Why don't you tell me what happened, and in a gentle, loving way, I'll explain to you why you're wrong.”
13 “How's your life?” “Like everybody else's, subject to entropy, decay and eventual death. Thank you for asking.”
14 “Yes, dirty. Dirty, dirty, dirty. Which brings me to our next order of business.” [Kisses them] “Fascinating.” “I hope you don't take what I'm about to do as a comment on what we just did.” [Runs to bathroom and vomits]
15 “You know, its a tad old-school, but my father was not one to spare the rod when my brother would sneak into his truck and drink his driving whiskey.” “You want to spank me?”
16 “I don't have (Valentine's) plans, which is why I booked time on the big telescope that night.” “An evening looking at the stars, that's still kinda romantic.” “Except I'd be alone.” “I'm trying to put lipstick on a pig here. Work with me.”
17 “I have a sorta kinda boyfriend/girlfriend at home playing with a model train, but you don't hear me bitching about it.”
18 “You better watch that attitude, buddy. You're dating the popular boy/girl now.”
19 “I'll let you in on a little secret. Originally, we were painted nude. But I had him add clothes cause I thought it was an unnecessary challenge to our heterosexuality.” “Yeah, good call.” “But, if you ever change your mind, all it would take is some warm, soapy water and a couple of sponges.” “You're talking about the painting, right?” “Sure.”
20 “NAME 1, I think you might find the support you're looking for if you realize relationships are a give and take. He/She can only be there for you as much as you are for him/her.” “Thank you, NAME 3.” “And NAME 2, you need to be patient with NAME 1 and stop pressuring him/her into accepting intimacy on your terms.” “You should probably go.”
21 “You know if we did a shot every time they said something embarassing, this would be one hell of a drinking game.” “Little early for alcohol, isn't it?” [On the radio] “You know, I don't just say smart things about science, I also yodel.” [Yodelling] “I'll get the vodka.”
22 “And action.” “And cut! You realize I'm doing this for free, right?” “Yes, and so far we're still not getting our money's worth.”
23 “Stop it! Today is not about you, it's about NAME and NAME, and me!”
24 “Where are the kids?” “Oh, NAME’s helping NAME give them a bath.” “Hmm. So you really think you can trick NAME into liking babies?” “I slept with him/her. I married him/her. You want to bet against me?”
25 “Coming. Yup, that's good. Wine glasses should have handles.” [Answers the door] “Keeping accurate track of your alcohol intake. Smart idea considering how trampy you get when you've had a few.” “You heard what I did?” “I heard who you did.”
26 “I don't want five dollars, I want my dignity.” “So, what are we talking, like ten bucks?”
27 “Come on. Let's get you to bed. You've had a lot to drink.” “No more than NAME.” “That's what I'm saying.”
28 “How could you do that?” “I'm sorry, but you know what it's like when you're with your man/woman and one thing leads to another.” “I do know what that's like. I really do.”
29 “Is that book called ‘Lies I tell to get sex’?” “Is that a real book? I would totally read that book.” “Can I borrow it when you're done?”
30 “Then I met NAME and look at where we are now.” “You've kissed like once in three years.” “That's true. Do whatever you want.”
31 “Are you sure your moth-like personality won't be drawn to this blazing fire that is myself?” “More and more sure.”
32 “Your husband's weird and his clothes are ridiculous.”
33 “Did he/she say she didn't like you?” “Of course not. Nobody ever says they don't like you straight to your face.” “Heh, we have led different lives!”
34 “You know there was a time when I was alone and had no friends. I'm starting to miss that.”
35 “You're acting odd. Why?” “I'm odd all the time. Everyone knows that. Just last night, I tried to see how many Fava beans I could fit in my mouth.” “Tell me the truth.” “28.” “Come on.” “56.”
36 “Uh-oh.” “What?” “I left the food out.” “You afraid it's gonna go good?”
37 “You know how, when you're sick, you're allowed to be cranky and say whatever you want and other people's feelings don't matter?” “Ooh. Gentle and loving. This is gonna be tricky.”
38 “Given the choice of anyone in the world, who would you want as a dinner guest?” “I can honestly say NAME.” “Aww, then I choose a janitor, because I'm about to throw up.”
39 “Please pass the butter!”
40 “Why can't there just be one week each month for famous people to die?” “Well, they've already arranged to die in threes. What more do you want from them?”
41 “I miss this.” “How can you miss a game you've never played before, silly?” “I guess sometimes I'm silly.”
42 “You don't know what it's like to feel completely frustrated. To have a desire build up within you and be denied any opportunity for release.” “Yeah, sounds like a drag.”
43 “Look, I know this is your wedding, and you can do whatever you want, but if you think anyone but me is gonna be your maid of honor, then you're an idiot because you are my best friend.” “Too late, NAM—” [pushes person b out of the way, rushes to hug persona a] “Bestie!”
44 “You and I never hang out like this. Why is that?” “I know, it's weird, right?” “Yeah, we should do it more often.” “Oh, no. I mean this is weird right now.”
45 “It actually was kinda fun.” “You're just saying that.” “Yeah.”
46 “If Harry Potter's wand can make decisions, why can't Thor's hammer?” “Okay, if you are going to start comparing wands and hammers, I can't even take you seriously.”
47 “I made your favorite oatmeal — plain.”
48 “Hi, NAME. What's new?” “Our friends are jerks, and I'm mad at all of them.” “I said, ‘What's new?’ but sure.”
49 “FYI, I had a donut for breakfast, you jerk.”
50 “Can you stop breathing so loud? I can hear your nose whistling.” “I can hear your face talking, so we're even.”

A Real Knight
Ship: Fairytale!Tom Holland x Male reader (William)
Word count: 3448
A/N: I haven’t written anything in a long time, so sorry for this being shitty. Also just so you know english isn’t my first language. Anyway hope you like it. It’s written in a fairytale world
Once Upon a time there was a kingdom. The kingdom was known for its people who were more sorrowful than any other. They had experience pain and sorrow so deeply it was buried through generations. There was a curse upon the Kingdom, worse than any dragon or wyvern. Grieve was set to befall on every family, all having to bear the burden of knowing; that one day their sons would die on the battlefield of blood. The Kingdom had been at war with a neighboring Kingdom for centuries, but the neighbors were far more cruel and evil than any witch or beast. To serve in the army was the greatest honor that could ever be bestowed on a person. Family suffered losses every day, everyone had lost someone to the war. When someone went to serve, you knew that you would never see them again.
William Jackson had only ever seen the Kingdom from afar. He lived a day outside the castle's walls. When he was little, he dreamed of getting the medal of honor. His dad had served the Kingdom in the war and lost his life in the process. As soon as William turned 18, he was ready to serve the royal army, but his mother did not want him to. She was scared of losing him, just like she had lost her husband. When Will was little; he looked up to his dad. He was his hero but after he died and everyone in the village called him a coward; Will never saw his father the same way again. His mother would never talk about him, the pain was just too much for her.
He asked his mother for permission to leave. His mother said, “Fighting is stupid, being right here with me and your sisters is important”. The words were not enough to put his dreams to slumber. William was not going to be a failure, like his father. He knew his family would understand, someday, so he left. To make them proud, and to fill the hole in his heart.
The road to the castle was long but he took his horse and gathered supplies in a backpack he could carry around the satchel; and so, he went on. To look for happiness and adventure.
After a while William started getting tired, it was hard having to ride for that long. He had heard many stories about travelers but being one even if it was just for a day, was completely different. A headache grew and pain in his legs followed. The horse was getting tired too, but there was no time to stop. To get to the castle would take a lot of ambition and willpower. His eyes started to drift away, and he could feel his eyelids getting heavy trying to close in on him. He thought to himself, closing your eyes for just a few seconds will be OK, but he soon went into a small slumber. It did not take long for the rest to be over, because the horse came to her rough stop. William screamed out of surprise, and so did an old lady. He had almost hit her with the horse, but he was fast to act. The old lady had fell to the ground, and William immediately jumped off his horse to help an innocent. “Are you OK?” he asked with deep concern. He noticed her weird clothes; she was wearing something that looked like a cloak and her hair was as red as fire. Her nose big and eyes small; her skin was full of wrinkles and scars. “I'm fine, my dear; don't you worry about an old lady like me” her voice scratchy and abrasive. he tried not to look and her with a weird eye, she was just a nice old lady “I'm Zelda, and who are you? Young man” she looked him directly in the eye - she was not scared. “Ehh, I am William. I am truly sorry.” he was not hesitant to answer, but his mother always taught him to be nice and well adjusted. William looked at the ground trying to avoid her green eyes out of shame from his actions, that is when he saw it, a neckless. He picked it up, and written across the silver stood, “Savior's heart”. “Ma'am, I think you dropped this”, as soon as he rose; the old lady was gone. He placed it in his belt holder, not really thinking more about it. He did not have time to ask questions, because of this little run day view, he would not have time for a break later. Right now, the most important thing was getting to the castle.
Coming into the village, William kept his head high trying to avoid any glances from any villager. After the tournament he would be a part of the royal army, and his name would receive glory. Finding his way through the village was not hard, there were signs everywhere showing people where to go. He followed the other travelers as they all seemed to be heading to a big field. The field was full of tents in all kinds of sizes. Before he could get in, he had to assign. There were many tables on the field. People came from all over the kingdom, to participate in the tournament.
He raised down from his horse and delivered it to one of the many caretakers provided by the king service. “Hey, you, do you have a number yet?” a young man sitting at one of the tables asked William, taking him out of his thoughts. William took a while before he spoke “Um, no sir. I have not received a number yet” he did his best to straighten his back. There were strong men in a mile of sight, everyone had big muscles and had trained for this since they were small. His eyes wandered around, almost forgetting the conversation, he was having. “God, get your life in check, mate. If you want to be a knight, you can not just stand there looking like an idiot. Okay?”, with the last word, the young man smashed his hand into Williams chest giving him a with the number, 136. To think that they were already that many competitors, made William stomach turn.
He knew that competitors had to share tents. Williams sleeping mates would be number 53 and 17, as assigned on the tents. He stood outside of the tent, not knowing what to expect. He slid through the fabric and walked in hearing two people talking.
“You know I could beat you in a duel any day of the week”, one said to the other mockingly. “Yeah, right, I have always been a better swordsman than you, and you know it”, he commented back. They stopped their conversation as William stands came to a hold. “Hello, I am William Jackson and I am excited to share this journey with the both of you”, William did not notice the confused expression across the two young mens faces as he talked. “Mate, relax, is not like you will be here tomorrow”, the raven-haired boy said in a bitter tone. “Hey James, do not scare him. Do not think about him, he is just a prick”, the young man slammed his hand over the raven-haired boys head.
The blonde man stood up and walked across the tent making his way to William. “I am Thomas”, he said taking his hand out of his pocket for William to greet. “William”, his voice was shaking as they connected their hands, he felled a cold chill run down his spine. He brushed the feeling off, thinking it was just intimidation. Thomas was a Noble man; you could see it on his clothes. He was wearing assessments of a higher caliber. Metals at William had never seen before. He had never seen anyone look as ravishing and elegant. His own appearance now seemed humiliating. “You already said that, mate”, his voice was soft and sympathetic, William felt embarrassed. William looked down trying to avoid eye contact. He made his way over to what was clearly the spare bed.
Conversation was shared about the upcoming tournament, William did not like James that much. He seemed entitled and immature, talking about the girls that would die to marry him after he had won. William would admit James was handsome, but not like Thomas. Thomas had golden curly locks, and eyes as brown as chocolate, his scent was as delightful as roses. He had brood shoulders and a gentle smile. No one in Williams village looked like that. He knew that even though they could act like friends today, tomorrow would be totally different, they would turn on him.
The competition was hard, and there were legends about the blood spilled on that field, but honor came with a great price and William was ready to pay it. He hated the thought of hurting an innocent. The way James talked, made him sick. He could not think that people enjoyed others in pain. It was clear that Thomas did not agree with James values.
As conversation dialed down in the tent, Will found himself thinking about his mom. His mom was not a woman of honor. To her safety was the most important thing – or at least that was what Will thought. She would be proud and admit her wrongs when he came home with a medal. He was going to be everything his dad could not; a real soldier and hero.
He went outside to clear his head all the thinking was giving him a headache so hard it burned. Men were gathered around bonfires laughing and drinking. Will needed to find a quiet place. Today had been too much for him to handle. When he woke up this morning, he could only imagine what being here was actually like. His dad used to talk about the castle like it was a magical land, where everything was possible. As much as he hated his dad, he was right about that.
After walking for a couple of minutes he finally came to an opening, it was a training station. There was a sign saying, “Closed till tomorrow”. William knew then many came a week before the tournament; just to train. He took up his sword from his belt and stood in position ready to fight. Everything he had ever learned about swordsmanship came from his dad. For a man who died in battle, he had some great skills. He started to practice. He tried all the different moves he could remember. His blood started to rise as well as his heartbeat. He was angry, at James, his dad, his mother, but most of all himself. One hit after another in the air and anger filled his bones. He had to succeed. Sweat dripping down from his forehead, as his muscles started getting sore. He did not notice the time passing, but at some point, he cracked and threw the sword directly into a tree. So, Will went to pull it out, but half of the sword was stuck. He could hear a group of guards coming; getting in trouble was the last thing he wanted. No one was allowed to be there after hours, so he ran. He had to give up on the sword anyway, it was scum. He did not talk when he came into the tent, he just laid down on this bed and closed his eyes trying to drift away.
- “I hate you. You are so much like your father. You are a real disappointment to this family. And I do not ever want to see you step your foot inside my house again.”.
- “You are at least just as bad as me. I saw you try to practice but you will never be a great warrior with those little girl moves.”.
The next day came as fast as the other ended, and with the sun they all rose. Thomas kept looking at Will, he felt the pair of eyes on him. For Will this was only going to be the day, where his life really started. Will had not brought any food with him. James on the other hand had a whole crew of people bring him food, he did not even want. Thomas chose to share his plate with Will. “Why are you doing this?” Will asked. “Because it is the right thing to do. Come on, I can not let my teammate starve” he smiled back. Thomas handed him a piece of bread; their fingers glanced each other briefly. They all ate in silence, Will and Thomas sitting on one bed and James on his own.
Nightmares were normal for William, being a disappointment was normal for William. That is why bringing honor to his family meant so much to him. He had to be worth something, he could not just be a good for nothing man. His dad died a coward, and that was his biggest fear, being a coward.
Soon they all left the comfort of the tent and went out to fight for honor. As James took out all his weapons, William started to feel lost. Without a weapon he could not compete, no weapon no honor. James left, and Thomas was just about to follow but stopped when he saw the look on Williams face. “You know if you need anything you can just ask” as soft as Thomas voice was, it did not help with Will lose his distress. “Thanks, but I am fine”. Thomas just nodded and proceeded walking out. There was something off about Thomas, but William could not put the finger on it. Brushing the feeling off he rose from his seat.
William had spent 20 minutes getting ready, trying to get all his armor and gear on by himself. There was not long until his third match of the day. When he had showed up to his first battle a random man came and handed him a sword. The sword looked brand new and expensive, but William did not have time to question it. He won easily, gaining back some of the confidence, he had lost overnight. After the third match, there would be a break. So, the rich could gossip and feast. The king was supposed to give an inspiring speech, and everyone had to listen.
William had not hurt anyone yet, and he was not planning to. People came to serve not to die. William was not a killer, he just wanted to help stop the war. He was a fighter. William knew that he would leave a changed person.
Then a man came into the tent he was standing in. Before turning around William thought it was just one of the helpers, but it was not. There standing before him, was Thomas. Even though that just seen each other this morning. He looked a lot different with all his armor, he had a small cut on the higher cheekbone. “Hey” he said. “Ehh, hi”, what was he doing here William thought. “I just wanted to make sure you got the sword”, so he was the one that sent it. “Yeah thanks, how did you know I needed a sword?”, the question came out sounding more defensive than intended. “I saw you last night at the training station. You were quite impressive if I might say so myself.”, he saw me. William grew embarrassed, no one had ever called him impressive. Not even his sisters, who was his biggest fans. “I have not seen you fight but I can only imagine the kind of swordsmanship someone like you would carry.” William walked a step closer to Thomas. “Someone like me?” Thomas took a step as well. “I mean you are already perfect”. “I am not, at least my dad do not think I am. To him I am a disgrace to our family” he had a sad tone over his voice. “My dad was awful too. “If that helps”. Try not to sound so inconsiderate you idiot, Will thought after he spoke. “Was?”, the question hit hard. “He died in the war”, talking about it made Will feel vulnerable. “I am so sorry for your loss”, Thomas said sincerely. “It is OK, like I said; he was awful.”, just thinking about his dad, made his skin crawl. “Still a loss is a loss”, spoken like someone who had felt it. “My big brother died too” he talked again after a small pause. With all the talking William had not noticed just how close they were. Only a couple of inches from each other. William could see Thomas eyes starting to water, he was trying not to cry. “Sometimes I miss him, even though I do not want to” Will said trying to break the silence. Thomas now letting a small huff out moved closer to Will. William did not know what to think, as Thomas wrapped his arms around his torso. First in shock, he did not do anything, but soon he reciprocated the hug. It was nice being so close to someone, to feel safe. Will started to feel his own eyes watering. they both snuff their noses at the same time and a chuckled escaped from both of their lips. They pulled out slowly from the hug, so they were standing face to face. William felt something he had never felt before. He felt happy in this moment.
“Prince Tom, your father needs to see you right now!”, a man interrupted their conversation. Prince, who is a prince. Wait he said Tom - as in Thomas? William almost lost his mind; Thomas was the prince? “Good luck out there. Will I see you later?” Thomas asked calmly, he sounded like he thought William already knew. “Yes”, Williams thoughts were at war. Thomas smiled and left.
Even though William had just won his fight, all he could think about was Thomas. The fact that he was the prince. He should have been happy about all his victories, but now he did not know what to feel. Everything seemed different. He enjoyed fighting - but maybe he wanted more from life. He started walking around waiting for the king's speech, Thomas father's speech. A man carrying mail, went around handing it out. “Are you William Jackson?”, the man asked. “Yes, I am.”, who would have sent me a letter. “Take this” he handed him a beige envelope. He could see his mom handwriting cross the paper. He turned the envelope around and used his fingernails to open the letter. The letter read:
My dear William.
Hope you get this soon. I miss you and I am sorry. I should have been a better mother, but everything got so hard after your dad died. I know that I do not talk about him a lot, but I really miss him. I know that I should have defended him, when the people in town called him a coward, because he was not. He was good hearted, just like you. He cared more about saving a life, then killing. He never got to tell me what happened, but I talked to one of his friends the day of the funeral. He said that your dad had seen a man crying out for help on the battlefield. He was specifically supposed to stay on duty, but he could not watch a helpless man die. He fought his way towards the man and saved him. When he was not on his post people thought he chickened out and ran. He was brave running onto that battlefield saving a man's life. His friend said that when your dad came back with the man, they took him back to the camp. Your dad got hurt along the way, and with the paramedics being occupied saving the man’s life, your dad died form an unknown wound. People started calling him a coward and have never stopped. His friend tried to stand up for him and tell the truth, but no one believed him. That the reason why I have been so hard on you. I know you and your dad share the same heart and helping people is what you do. You have a savior’s heart. So even though it is hard and losing your dad almost killed me, I will support you.
I love you and I hope to see you soon.
- Mom
He reached into his belt holder and took out the silver neckless, “Savior’s heart”. He knew what he had to do. He knew what to fight for.

Alcides/Heracles one shot
~~~
"... Alcides."
At the call of that name, strong blue eyes opened.
"... Ah." His eyes widened, remembering he was working out to become stronger. He must've dozed off and fallen asleep at some point.
Not registering his own vision, he moved to sit up quickly, but a hand touched his head and covered his eyes, accompanied with a voice.
"Don't get up."
"(Reader), what are you doing?" he asked, his eyes covered and leaving him unable to see clearly, but he knew he was on his side.
"You need to take a break, geez. Don't ask me that, it's embarrassing."
The hand moved from his face, and touched his hair. As the hand moved away, he could see more clearly now, though his vision was still blurry from opening his eyes suddenly.
It wasn't too bright, or too dark. The sky was slowly darkening, kind to his eyes that wouldn't need to be faced immediately with the Sun's glare, or the darkness he couldn't see into.
From the hill with a single tree on top, that was where he was watching from. The dark sky slowly falling on the place he was born and raised in; Thebes, which was illuminated with the yellow glow of oil lamps and candles.
He realized his head wasn't on the ground. He was resting his head on something. That person's voice was coming from above him.
"... (Reader), is my head on your lap?"
"I said it was embarrassing, don't ask me that."
He turned his head to face up, and saw (Reader)'s face at an angle. With red cheeks, their hand covered his eyes again and pushed his head to lean on its side once more.
"Don't look this way."
He didn't move his head to face them anymore, his own cheeks dusting red. From their view, Alcides's ears were slowly flushing.
Letting out a breath, their hand moved to his hair. Stroking his spiky hair, Alcides's tenseness melted away.
"... Where's Castor? Wasn't he here?"
"Ah. He left us be. Not sure where he is right now, but I'm sure he's fine."
"It's getting late."
"That's why I was calling you. We should get going now. But we can stay like this for a bit."
"Ahh, alright."
They were silent, (Reader) simply touching his hair and Alcides allowing himself to take a break.
"... You're carrying me, though, my legs are numb."
He laughed. "Okay!"
. . .
Time passed.
Alcides, who had kept up his hard work, had shown results.
His back was tall and straight, and his limbs were toned and muscular. His jaw stayed strong, and his hair was longer.
But he was still the same Alcides. His face was essentially the same, other than looking a bit more grown up, and inside, he was the exact same.
Despite having a body he could boast about, he stayed to his beliefs and didn't allow himself to become conceited. He still protected the weak, jumped into stuff without much thought, worked toward his goals, and loved humanity.
At this point, no one dared to make fun of him.
But then, the year 2000 BC arrived.
In the dark night, the clouds began moving. A bright light, not belonging to the moon, shone from the sky like the gates of heaven opening up. The clouds parted for this light, and numerous figures descended from the sky.
There were winged beings, beings with large bodies, and they all donned armor and wielded weapons. Leading them, was a tall, burly man with a strong cleft chin.
Wearing an intricate helmet, a red cape, and a loincloth, he didn't even have anything on his feet, for he wore only those items. He was mounted on, and leading the army with, a flaming, armored horse.
And everyone knew, the moment they descended from the sky, that these figures were sent from the gods.
. . .
The army landed on the earth's surface, landing before the city's walls and gates. Ares led at the front.
The gates should open. Even if they weren't permitted access, they would force their way in.
No one was to oppose them.
But in the city, lived Alcides.
Alcides stood before the whole army, alone and armed with a single stick, the gates locked tightly behind him.
Castor, (Reader), and a few others watched from the top of the walls.
After surviving a kick from Ares, Alcides brought out Ambrosia -a goblet of Zeus's blood, said to grant eternal life and strength of the gods, to anyone with a righteous soul-, which he was hiding, and drank it, wagering his life.
"IDIOT!"
(Reader) couldn't help shouting out when he began burning away. Castor screamed, as mist and steam poured out from Alcides's melting body.
Ares, believing he was done for, only accepted it and moved on. His horse took a step forward, but stopped as Alcides's stick stuck itself in front of Ares's face.
And turning his head to the one wielding that stick, reflected in Ares's eyes, was Zeus.
But it was only Alcides. Having withstood Ambrosia, he granted immortal life, and godly strength. His hair was white and long all around. His strong body became similar to that of Ares's.
And then, began a fight of one man against the army of the gods.
***
Castor looked down at the sleeping Alcides.
Free of stress, deep in slumber, his face looked so innocent, reminiscent of a sleeping infant.
It was completely different from when he was awake. His face would be determined, tense, sweaty, his jaw clenched as he could be found doing pushups, standing with his arms out in front of weaker ones to protect them, and running in with no plan.
"Alcides is like a baby right now," Castor said as he looked down at him.
(Reader) flicked his forehead. "Let him sleep, Castor. You know he won't admit that he needs it."
With a dull, thin pain on his forehead, he kept quiet, knowing that Alcides could spring up the moment he heard anything related to pain.
"Alright. I'll leave you two be. Don't spend all night here, though."
"I know. Let him rest now, we both know he'll do something dumb later."
The two laughed with each other, but keeping it down, for Alcides.
***
"Woah.."
Having watched the fight from the beginning, Alcides had taken down the army. Left standing, were Alcides and Ares, who at this point, were just brawling it out, fist to fist.
The fight was stopped by an old man who looked emancipated, but he was apparently Zeus.
The fight stopped, Alcides was offered to become a god, and he accepted, on the condition that they never harm humanity, and instead lead them to justice, also declaring that he would protect the weak and just.
(Reader), having been dragging out Castor and ramming a hole in the gates from where Alcides crashed into, got outside the city to Alcides, and caught him, helping him sit up.
""Alcides!!""
Castor had tears in his eyes. "You're really crazy... Next, you're going to be a god..?"
"Castor..." With a grin, his fistbumped him. "Guess I'll be heading off for a bit."
(Reader) was actually crying.
Ares, at the sight of someone crying up close, felt himself freeze.
Yup. Even Ares, who could fight to the death and punish others, was weak to someone crying in front of him.
"Why did you..?" There were lots of questions they wanted to ask. They wanted to yell at him, they wanted to be mad. But they also wanted to cry, hug him, ask him questions, and know if he was alright.
"You're becoming a god!" they decided to shout, while kicking Alcides's side. That hurt them instead, it was like kicking a boulder barefoot. "We can't see each other anymore!"
With both of his big arms, he grabbed both Castor and (Reader), and hugged them tightly.
They all shared the same thought, at that moment.
―― We won't ever meet again.
The strong figure of Alcides, who could be described as strong-willed or just the embodiment of dumb innocence and determination, continuing to walk on forwards, would never be seen again.
They wouldn't see each other grow older. They wouldn't see them the day after with certainty. This would be the last time they could be together.
―― I'll, never see you again.
Castor and (Reader) came to his mind.
But standing out the most, was the latter.
Their steps following him. Their hands touching his hair. Their figure, their face, their touch, their voice, their laughter, their habits, all of that was burned into his brain.
―― I don't want to leave just like this.
"Uugh..."
"... (Reader)," he ended up letting out in a breath, sounding heavy, "I like you."
"Oohh." Ares, Zeus, and Castor immediately kept quiet.
Alcides would rather confess it now, than never again, and let them live the rest of their life without him, and without knowing what he felt.
He would remember all of it.
Their voice calling after him. Angry, sad, encouraging, exasperated, joyous, soft, he would remember how they sounded, looked, and acted, in all sorts of moods.
The careful touch of his hair, as he laid in their lap, from the top of the hill that overlooked their birthplace. The place they were born and raised.
Their weight on his back, as he carried them on his back when their legs were asleep, jolting and trusting him to be able to hold them up.
Their eyes widening, shining, whenever something cool happened. Every little thing about them, he liked. Even when they were mad, it was cute, and only felt like the scolding was from worry.
Like an unattainable treasure, he couldn't have them stay by his side.
"Sorry, to load that onto you when I'm about to leave-"
"Wait." Before he could finish his apology, he was interrupted. Looking at them, he saw their face contemplative, obviously searching for words, but not knowing what to say, their face red.
Willing themself to look at him, an ocean of tears in their eyes, in their vision, was their first love.
Memories of the time they spent together replayed in their heads.
(Reader) smiled.
Those watering eyes produced a single droplet that streamed down their cheek.
"... Maybe we might meet again. Who knows how... I like you too."
"... If I wasn't leaving, I would totally ask you to marry me right now."
Great, Alcides was crying too.
Hugging them firmly, they only nodded, their lips hovering close to his ear.
"Okay," they whispered, before kissing his cheek.
. . .
Many years passed. Thousands.
(Reader) and Castor died. Everyone from that moment, except Alcides, Ares, and Zeus, were dead.
But then, the citizens were alive again, no longer in their city.
They were in a sort of arena, where they were told of how humanity would fight the gods for the right to survive another thousand years.
They were all physically in the stage of their prime again, at the stage where they were at their best. Rarely, was anyone an elder.
"Where are you going, (Reader)?" Castor asked.
"If they say gods, doesn't that include Alcides!?" Not saying anymore, they ran off, despite not knowing where to look.
. . .
Alcides -or now named, Heracles- was found, going up a spiral of stairs.
(Reader) found them, but because they tripped on the stairs, just as Heracles came up.
"Sorry," he said, catching them and helping them straighten out.
They stood two steps higher than Heracles. Looking at each other's faces, Heracles was the first to remember, his eyes widening and shining.
"... (Reader)?"
"... Um." His face was different. But his eyes were still the same, and his hair was similar in style, and his figure was the same as the one after Ambrosia. He also still had the same thick eyebrows. "Alcides?"
They had not changed in the least.
―― What, do I say?
Heracles was at a loss for words, not knowing what to do.
So (Reader) acted instead.
On the stairwell, where there were visibly only two people -a human and a demigod- there was a small sound of the touching of lips.
Heracles blinked dumbly, as it ended after only a few seconds.
―― For now, let's just forget that we're fighting for humanity's fate.
〈“Don’t be scared to say what’s on your mind. Show them all your colors, show your pride. And no matter what they say, know you’re a star.” Mackenzie Ziegler, “Teamwork”〉
⊱ ────── {⋅. 🔥 .⋅} ────── ⊰
I stepped inside the classroom, eyes locking with heterochromatic ones. I suppressed a shiver as I approached my desk. To think that I could have been flame fuck’s kid… I could have been Shouto’s sister. Now I feel bad about all those dirty thoughts I had when I first met him. Ugh, what was that dipshit mom of mine thinking? Was he married to Shouto’s mom back then? He had to be… right? That means he cheated on his wife – that doesn’t really surprise me, he seems the type. Did mom know he was married? Did he pay her like he paid off his wife’s family? I groaned, letting my forehead hit my desk.
A hand rested on my shoulder followed by a soft, familiar voice. “How are your injuries?”
“Todoro -” My eye twitched as flame fuck popped into my head. “I’m fine, Shouto. How are you doing?”
His eyes widened a bit at the use of his first name, cheeks dusting a light pink. “I wasn’t injured that badly.”
“Good.”
Shit, it feels awkward as fuck now. Silence settled over us and I briefly wondered if he’s feeling as awkward as I am. Students started to file into the room, swapping stories of their adventures during their internship.
Obnoxious laughter filled the room as Kirishima and Sero loudly chorused, “Holy crap! What the heck, Bakugo?!”
Huh? Katsuki? I can’t see anything but those two idiot’s backs. I stood up, slowly approaching the three boys.
“Stop laughing…” Kat’s voice was strained. “My hair’s gotten used to this and I can’t get it back the right way…”
“Woah,” My eyes widened as I stepped up beside Kiri. Katsuki’s body was shaking and his hair… it’s flatter than Kyouka’s tits! “Uh… new fashion choice, Kat? Actually, it don’t look that bad. You look like… a prep.”
“Did you not hear me?! I’ll kill all of you!”
“I’d like to see you try, pretty boy!” Sero laughed loudly.
“What did you call me?!” With an explosive pop, his flat blonde hair expanded outward, returning to its natural spiky state.
“There it goes!!” The two chorused, clutching their stomachs.
Before he could actually kill them, I threw my arm around his neck and dragged him over to his desk. He elbowed me hard in the gut, which was still fucking sore, before falling onto his chair. I wheezed in pain, “The fuck was that for?”
His vermillion eyes narrowed as they met mine. “You ignored all my damn messages! And then fucking Iida called me telling me you’re alive! What the fuck, tiger?!”
“My phone kinda… broke,” I deadpanned, sitting backward at the desk in front of him. “Well, as it turns out, our bad feelings were right. I put our instincts to the test, you’re welcome.”
He scowled, leaning forward on his desk. “What the fuck happened?”
I rested my arms on the top of the chair and sighed. “The hero and all of her sidekicks were all dead when I arrived at the agency.”
He sucked in a breath, his eyes widening.
“It was the League of Villains. I was actually about to call you and tell you what I found when they appeared. Tried to get away, but that damn warp gate is a pain in my fucking ass.”
“Wait…” Katsuki.exe is processing this information. “The league had you all fucking week?!”
Ojirou, currently the closest person to us, glanced over at us at the sudden exclamation and I sent him a sheepish smile before scowling at Kat. “No one fucking knows, so shut your fatass mouth!”
“You’re a fucking dumbass, you know that?” He growled, smacking his hand on the desk. “I told you not to go!”
I hummed. “I also met my dad.”
“You what?”
“Apparently, he’s a top hero over in Ireland.” I held up a finger and grinned. “But wait, there’s more! I learned some juicy shit about my mom. You won’t fucking believe -” My words paused in my throat when I felt an aura spike across the room. Holy cow, Ochaco’s aura is hella stronger than it was before!
“I’d say that it was very enlightening,” she punched the air a few times. To be honest, I feel relieved that her spirit has changed, gotten stronger. That means she’ll be safer.
“I think she found her fighting spirit,” Tsu commented.
“Yeah, that battle hero must’ve been something else,” Kyouka agreed.
“After one week, she’s like a totally different person.” Kaminari mused.
“‘Different’? Don’t be fooled, Kaminari.” Mineta got a terrified look on his face, his skin pale and eyes wide. “All women are demons at heart. They just hide their true personalities behind pretty faces…” His voice shook and I smirked. Good, that bitch put him in his place. Now let’s hope he fucking stays there.
“What the heck did Mt. Lady do to you? Everyone at my internship loved me, it was actually kinda great! Now, if you wanna talk about the ones who really changed, it was those three,” Kaminari nodded toward Shouto’s desk where he, Zuku, and Iida were gathered.
“Oh yeah! The hero killer!” Sero exclaimed.
“Glad you guys made it back alive,” Kirishima gave them a soft smile. “Seriously!”
Momo nodded. “I worried about you, too.”
“You’re lucky Endeavor showed up and saved you guys,” Sumo’s voice sounds so goddamn condescending, the little fuck.
“So cool~” Toru swooned. “Just what I’d expect from the number two hero!”
I scoffed, narrowing my eyes at the desk beside me. “Bastard didn’t do shit.”
Katsuki’s eye twitched in annoyance. “Don’t fucking tell me… you were there, too?!”
“Huh?” Kaminari’s golden eyes met mine. “You were there, too, Winchester?”
“What?” Sero added. “No way!”
Shouto spoke up, his voice and face blank. “Yeah, that’s right. He saved us.”
“Did you guys hear the news about the hero killer?” Ojirou questioned. “Everyone’s been saying that he’s somehow connected to the League of Villains. Can you imagine how frightening it would’ve been if that creep had been there when they attacked the USJ?”
“They’re not connected,” I responded blankly. “Don’t believe everything you hear.”
Kirishima tilted his head. “How do you know?”
“Uhh… woman’s intuition?”
Katsuki rolled his eyes, “What a dumbass excuse.”
“He’s scary, yeah, but did you see ’em in that weird video?” Kaminari asked. “It’s all over the internet.”
“I didn’t even know there was a video of him,” Ojirou responded in surprise.
“Yeah,” he continued. “Stain’s a pretty evil villain, but like, super tenacious! He’s almost kinda cool, don’t you guys think?”
“Kaminari!” Zuku cried out in disbelief.
“Huh?” the blonde’s gaze slipped to Iida and his expression turned guilty, his hand shooting up to cover his mouth. “Oh, uh… dude…!”
“No, it’s okay. You’re fine.” Iida replied calmly, holding his hand up. I can see the bandages peeking out from the sleeves of his jacket. “It is true that he’s quite a tenacious villain. I understand why people might think he was cool, but instead of helping the world, his beliefs led him to cold-blooded murder. No matter his motives, killing cannot be condoned.”
Kaminari lowered his head, shoulders slumping. I stood up and rested my hand on his head, ruffling his blonde hair.
Iida continued, “To keep anyone else from suffering like me… well,” he held his arm out straight, glasses glinting under the bright lights. “I promise… I will strive to be the perfect hero!”
“Yeah, let’s do it!” Zuku cheered.
I clicked my tongue, moving my arm to rest on Kaminari’s shoulder. “I hate to be that bitch -” Which is a total lie. “I get what you’re tryin’ to say, right, but~ to quote a very creepy but quite brilliant mad scientist: ‘There is no such thing as perfect in this world. That may sound cliche, but it’s the truth. The average person admires perfection and seeks to obtain it, but what’s the point of achieving perfection? There is none. Nothing. Not a single thing. I spit on perfection! If something is perfect, then there is nothing left. There is no room for imagination. No place left for that person to gain additional knowledge or abilities.’”
Sero whistled. “That’s pretty deep.”
Katsuki scoffed. “You can remember that long ass fucking quote you can’t even remember simple math equations. Dumbass.”
“In conclusion!” I met Iida’s eyes and offered him a grin. “Don’t strive to be perfect, strive to be the best hero you can be, Mr. Class Rep~”
He returned the smile, nodding his head. “You’re right. I never thought of it that way.”
Zuku looked between us with worry before sighing in relief when he realized we weren’t gonna butt heads again.
“It’s time for class to begin! Everyone, please take your seats!” Iida ordered loudly.
“He’s back…” Fumi sighed.
“This is your fault for talking about weird stuff,” Kyouka sweatdropped, glaring at Kaminari whose face fell in response.
“Sorry… I’ll keep my mouth shut…”
“Class 1-A will ensure there is peace!”
⊱ ────── {⋅. 🔥 .⋅} ────── ⊰
Class 1-A was led to a secluded area away from the school building. It was basically a mini-city, but instead of buildings, there were a bunch of warehouses and a shit-ton of pipes and empty tanks.
“I am here!” Toshi fell from the sky, as he usually does, landing in front of the class. “Hope you’re ready to return to our lessons! Today, it’s hero basic training! Feels like I haven’t seen you in a while. Welcome back! Now then, listen carefully for what’s in store. We’re going to be conducting a little race. Take everything you’ve learned from your internships and apply it to this rescue training.”
“If it’s rescue training,” Iida’s bandaged arm shot up into the air. “Then shouldn’t we be at the USJ instead?”
“Ah! That facility specializes in disasters. As I said earlier, this is a race. So prepare!” Toshi grinned. “You’re about to step into field Gamma! Inside is an area full of factories that form an intricate labyrinth, so good luck finding your way around. You’ll be competing in groups of five. Each person starts from a different location on the outskirts of the model city. I’ll send a distress signal and you do what you must to rescue me! Whoever finds me first, wins! But try to keep the property damage to a bare minimum, please.” He sent a sharp look at Bakugo while pointing his finger directly at him.
Chief didn’t even try to be discreet with that shade.
Katsuki growled, glancing away. “Why are you pointing at me?”
“Alright! First group, to your places!”
Group one consisted of Zuku, Ojirou, Iida, Sero, and Ashido. The rest of us gathered around the large screen to watch the race. Kaminari frowned at the screen, his voice filled with worry. “Iida hasn’t completely recovered yet, right? He should sit this out!”
“Yeah,” Kirishima nodded. “And everyone in this group has really good mobility.”
“I’d say Midoriya’s at a heavy disadvantage against those four,” Momo commented.
“That’s what I think,” Kyouka agreed. “Moving around quickly isn’t exactly one of his strong suits, that’s for sure.”
Momo added, “And whenever he uses his powers, he always gets badly injured.”
I held back my smirk as my eyes met Shouto’s. That’s right, no one knows about how much my lil cinnabon has improved or how he can now use One for All with less drawbacks aside from Iida and Shouto. Man, their surprised faces are gonna be fucking priceless! I glanced at Katsuki’s back. I bet he’s not gonna be too happy, though.
“Who’s your pick?” Kirishima asked, glancing at Kaminari. “I’m betting on Sero!”
“Oh yeah~? Hmm, I’ve got odds on Ojirou.”
“I choose Ashido!” Mineta interjected. “‘Cause she’s got a super athletic body!”
Kat humphed. “I know Deku will be last.”
“Even if he’s still recovering, I think Iida’s got this one,” Ochaco commented, to which Tsu nodded in agreement.
Fumi glanced at me over his shoulder when I moved to stand behind him. “Who do you believe will win, Jen-san?”
“Zuku,” I responded without much thought, only to immediately regret it when Katsuki glared at me.
“Is everyone ready?” Toshi raised his hand, pressing the trigger button. “Begin!”
The five of them took off, using their quirks to propel themselves over obstacles and across pipes. Currently, Sero is in the lead.
“Look at him go!” Kirishima cheered. “In a maze like this, it makes sense to be above everything else!”
“So that means Sero’s at an advantage because he can take to the sky,” Shouji mused, using one of his fake mouths to talk. I wonder if he has a real mouth. That might explain why he always wears that face mask. Hmm~
A flash of green flashed across the screen, instantly grabbing my attention. I grinned proudly, throwing my arms around Fumi’s neck. With him standing at only five-foot-two, I was able to easily rest my chin against the top of his soft, feathery head. Come on, Zuku, show everyone how much you’ve grown!
“Woah! Midoriya?!” Kirishima, Kaminari, and Mineta chorused in disbelief.
“When could he do that?!” Kaminari exclaimed.
“Crazy… those jumps… he looks just like…”
A strong, angry aura rose around Katsuki as he stared at the screen, his hands shaking. I knew he wasn’t gonna take this well… I sighed deeply, turning my gaze back to the screen. Why’s he always gotta get all pissy every time Zuku makes the smallest bit of improvement? Zuku was jumping from pipe to pipe with ease, a strong green aura around his body. He’s doing so… well…
I sweatdropped when his foot slipped off the pipe, sending him flying to the ground. “Zuku, you fucking idiot…”
Fumi chuckled, patting my arm. “He almost took first place. His improvement is impressive.”
“And~ it’s over!” Toshi grinned as the group made it to him one after another. He handed over a sash to the winner, Sero, that said ‘Thanks for saving me’. Is this the fucking Miss USA pageant? “Thanks, hero, and congratulations!”
“Alright!” Sero put the sash on, a proud grin on his face while Ashido stomped her feet in annoyance.
Zuku was lying flat on his face, clearly distraught by his mistake while Iida kneeled beside him, “Uh, Midoriya, you’re okay, right?”
“Young Sero may have come in first, but compared to the start of the year, you all showed me some incredible improvements! Keep working and preparing for your upcoming final exams!”
My body stiffened. F-Final exams?! What? When the fuck are those? What’s on them? Is it a written exam? A fight? Oh Satan, I’m totally gonna fucking fail if it’s a written exam. I mean, I did pretty well on the entrance exam written test, but that’s only because Toshi gave me a crash course before the test! Now that I’ve been here for a while and been in class, there’s no way in hell he’ll help me again.
“Are you nervous?” Fumi questioned.
“What makes you think I’m nervous?” I muttered.
“You’re shaking me like a leaf in an Autumn breeze, Jen-san.”
“Oh, shit. Sorry, Fumi.” I released my grip, sending him a sheepish smile, which he returned with a warm one.
“Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll do well. Even if you don’t win the race, there’s no need to fret.”
“The race… right…” Fuck the race, I’m worried about the mother fucking exams!
“Group one, leave the field. You’re up, group two!” Toshi ordered.
Group two consisted of Kaminari, Fumi, Aoyama, Kyouka, and Shouto. Though it was a close one between Shouto and Fumi, Dark Shadow is just too damn powerful and adorable and Fumi ended up winning by half a second.
Group three consisted of Mineta, Katsuki, Sumo, Ochaco, and Shouji. It should be pretty fucking obvious that Kat won. He’s also still pissed off at me, if that glare is anything to go on.
Group four consisted of Kirishima, Toru, Mountain, Momo, and Tsu. Toshi decided to assign me to this group.
As we headed into the city, I threw my arm around Kirishima’s shoulder, earning a curious look. “You wanna try somethin’ with me, Kiri?”
He tilted his head. “What is it?”
“Let’s tie!” I grinned, holding up a finger. “I’ll carry you on my back while I race. Not only will we both win, but it’ll help me work on my strength.”
“I don’t know, Winchester.” He frowned, rubbing his arm. “There’s no way All Might would allow that.”
I clicked my tongue. “He never said it wasn’t allowed, did he? Besides, heroes are meant to work together to save people, right?”
He hummed, cupping his chin. “Yeah, that makes sense. Okay, let’s do it!”
“Cool. Go to your spot. As soon as the race begins, I’ll come nab ya, so be ready.”
“Got it!”
Kiri was sent to the top of an empty, circular tank while I started off on the ground. We ended up being on opposite ends with the rest of our group between us. Damn, I was hoping we’d be closer to each other. I’m gonna have to channel my inner Sanic for this one! I breathed out, squatting down as my blood began to boil within me.
“Are you ready~?” Toshi called. “Begin!”
I quickly turned my body to the left, launching myself into the air and propelling forward with flames beneath my boots. I could just faintly hear the murmurs of surprise from the class, but their words were just an illegible jumble from here. “Kiri!” I landed in front of him and he wasted no time jumping on my back. I pushed off the ground, running along the thick pipe connected to the tank.
“Yaoyorozu is in first place with Tsu close behind,” Kiri informed me, allowing me to focus on my footing.
I grinned, pushing my legs harder. “Not for long!” I jumped from the roof, using fire to propel my body forward. Come on, move faster! Kiri deserves to win! “Hey, Momo!” I yelled when I got close, startling her.
She was using a colorful parasail to fly through the air easily. Her head whipped around in surprise, eyes wide. “Jen, what -”
“Sorry!” My grin widened as I turned my body in mid-air so that my feet were slightly higher than my head. “Kiri, use harden!” I felt his weight increase on my back and I focused my power on my feet, large flames shooting from the bottom of my boots and propelling us forward like a mother fucking rocket. We shot past Momo, barreling straight toward a surprised Toshi.
Oh, wait… how the fuck do I land? My flames died and I reached out for the metal railing surrounding the roof, just barely managing to curl my fingers around it. Kiri lost his grip on me, shooting off my body and rolling across the rooftop. My body jerked backward as I flipped over the railing, my body hitting the roof and my fingers twisting painfully around the metal.
Okay… that could have gone a bit smoother…
Toshi was staring down at me in shock. No no, that’s fine. Don’t check on your students or anything to make sure they ain’t internally bleeding. I know I’m cool, Toshi, but get yo shit together, fam.
Momo landed between us, quickly unstrapping the parasail from her body, face covered with worry. “Are you two okay?”
Kirishima was on the other end of the roof on his stomach. He lifted his head with a grin, “That was… awesome!”
I was on my back, staring up at the azure sky as I lifted my hand to give her a thumbs up. “Totally tubular, yo.”
Momo smiled softly, shaking her head. “I can’t believe the two of you worked together like that.”
I forced myself into a sitting position, uncurling my fingers from the metal. They were throbbing but I don’t think they’re broken. I sent Toshi a grin, “Teamwork makes the dream work.”
Toshi finally snapped out of his shock, clearing his throat. “Congratulations young Jen, young Kirishima!”
Kirishima laughed happily, launching himself at me and wrapping his arms around my neck. I smiled warmly, ruffling his hair.
The Lottery
Title: The Lottery
Summary: Mustafa Ali runs into an old friend after a Smackdown Live show
Archive Warnings: None
Smackdown Live was in Cleveland and we had seats right by the entrance ramp. It was the end of June and it was hot as hell, and I didn’t particularly care to be trapped in a crowd of screaming sweaty people. That, and watching a live wrestling show made me uncomfortable—angry, was more like it. It was a painful reminder of what my life could’ve been, my hopes and dreams that had been crushed by the weight of reality.
It was my daughter’s tenth birthday and she was a huge Charlotte Flair fan, so I could suck it up for one night to make my daughter happy. Besides, my mother paid a lot of money for these tickets so I figured I should stop pouting and just enjoy myself. As I was starting to get into the show, Mustafa Ali’s theme music hit. My insides tightened and twisted. I briefly forgot that he was on the Smackdown Live roster, which was I don’t know how I forgot. I could never forget him. I had never forgotten Adeel Alam.
I was originally from Chicago, and I grew up a huge wrestling fan. I trained and worked hard, and eventually got into the indie circuit. That’s where I met Adeel. His ring work was impressive, even back then. I loved watching him work, and one day he noticed me watching and started a conversation. That conversation lead to several more, and before we knew it we were the best of friends. We would perform then go pig out on burgers and greasy fries, or go back to my tiny apartment to watch DVD copies of Wrestlemania. Of course this was all in between work shitty jobs and taking college courses, just in case this wrestling thing didn’t work out.
“You know, we have a better chance of winning the state lottery than we do making it to WWE.” I said to him one day after a show.
Adeel just smiled at me. It was that bright, optimistic smile that was just contagious. “We’ll make eventually. We just have to keep trying.”
That was 11 years ago. Adeel had made it, he was living his best life—dream job, loving wife, beautiful children, fans that admired and adored him. I was happy for him, truly—he was a great guy who deserved every moment of this. I just couldn’t help but feel the tiniest sting of envy. I was a single parent working a desk job, making a decent wage but most of the time I was at my wit’s end. Bouts of depression and crippling anxiety left me wrecked, both mentally and physically. I worked out when I could. I wasn’t overweight but I definitely gained some weight since the last time he saw me.
I hadn’t seen him in 11 years, and the last time we saw each other was very awkward to say the least. I had made the decision to move to Cleveland with my mom to help take care of my sick grandparents. I tried working the indie circuit there but bookings were few and far between. I got pregnant by a guy a few months after moving to Cleveland and ended up dropping wrestling altogether. It sucked but hey, that’s life I guess. The night before I left Adeel and I went for one last pig out session and a movie. I always thought there was a little something between us, but neither of us acted on it. Whether it was out of fear of ruining our friendship or just plain being busy, nothing ever happened. So I was taken by surprised we ended up hooking up that night. The intimacy was amazing and the sex was great, but when morning came we both had no idea what to do or say, so I just said goodbye with a quick hug and kiss on his cheek. I never saw him again until that moment.
As he made his way to the ring I suddenly felt very self-conscious about my outfit and mentally scolded myself for wearing a tank top and yoga pants. I actually put on a tank top and fucking yoga pants as if I was lounging around my house. I immediately crossed my arms over my stomach and put my head down in attempt to not be noticed by him. It was too late, though. I heard people around me screaming and looked up to see Adeel directly in front of me. He had his light up mask on but I knew he was smiling. That man could smile with his eyes.
Neither of us said anything. He just waved at me then ran into the ring. He was even better in the ring that I remembered. He was amazing to watch, and I was flooded with so many fond memories. When it was all over and he won his match, he came back over. My heart beat wildly in my chest as he high fived my daughter then turned his attention to me. He leaned over the barrier and hugged me. I felt tingles roll up my spine as I hugged him back. The fans around me were screaming at the top of their lungs so he had to press his lips to me ear and whisper, “Meet me at the steakhouse down the street in two hours?” I nodded and he took off for the locker room.
I dropped off my daughter with my mom and met Adeel at the steakhouse. I made sure I changed my outfit and did something decent with my hair before I got there. I even threw on a little bit of makeup so I wouldn’t look a mom zombie—a mombie. I arrived a whole half an hour early, because my anxiety wouldn’t let me be normal. He arrived right on time, freshly showered and looking amazing. His hair was still wet and thrown into a bun at the top of his head, making me roll my eyes.
“You and your perfect hair.” I said with a scowl.
He grinned and ran a hand over his hair. “You’ve always been a hater.”
I rolled my eyes and laughed. “Maybe just a little.”
Adeel laughed and pulled me into a hug. He felt warm and smelled so good. “You look great, Syd.”
“I don’t, but thanks.” I replied.
He pulled back and looked at me sternly. “You do. Now come on and let me buy you a steak.”
The restaurant was nice and not too crowded, which I was a huge relief. Then we were sat by a window, which made my anxiety flair up again. I tried to keep my face neutral, but I realized I was failing miserably when Adeel called me out. “Are you okay, Syd?”
“Yeah, I’m totally fine.” I replied with the best smile I could muster. I opened the menu and looked down, hoping to hide my face.
“No you’re not. You look….are you uncomfortable?” He asked incredulously.
“No, no, it’s not not that!” I struggled to find an explanation, but ultimately my brain failed me and I just confessed. “Yeah, I am—but its not you! It’s other people. I—I—don’t want anyone taking pictures of us together and posting them on the internet. You know how people like to gossip and spread rumors. I know you’re married and have kids and I just don’t want to cause you any trouble.”
Adeel stared at me for a second, then burst out laughing. “I’m not that famous, Syd! Trust me, the paparazzi aren’t chasing me down for my picture!”
I could feel the heat rise in my cheeks as my face turned red. I felt like an idiot. “I’m sorry. I feel so stupid…”
He reached over and grabbed my hand. “Hey, don’t feel stupid. I get it, it’s a perfectly understandable fear. Thank you for considering my reputation. And don’t worry, my wife knows I’m here with you. I told her everything.”
“Everything?” I asked. I didn’t exactly mean to say it, but I kind of felt it would be better addressed early on and release some of the pressure in my head.
He withdrew his hand from mine and folded his hands on the table in front of him. “You mean did I tell her that you and I had sex over a decade ago? No, I didn’t. I don’t think it matters at this point in our lives.”
My heart dropped a little at hearing him say that, but I plastered on a fake smile. “You’re right, it was a long time ago. It doesn’t matter anymore. We had fun and we moved on.”
“Sydney—”
“Can we get some wine? I think we need some wine—or a beer?”
For a moment it looked as if he wanted to say something, but ultimately he just smiled and nodded. “Yeah, beer sounds great.”
We spend the next hour and a half eating and talking like we used to. We talked about old friends, wrestling, and our families. He talked about his life with so much joy and pride. He practically glowed as he talked about becoming a husband, becoming a cop, a father and ultimately a WWE Superstar. He was so enthusiastic as he told stories about the things he experienced and the people he encountered. I was genuinely happy for him, and proud of the man he had become. I could listen to him talk forever, but he stopped and stared at me.
“Holy shit, I just realized I’ve been talking about myself this whole time.” He said, looking guilty.
“Oh no—please continue. Your life has been way more interesting than mine. I’m living vicariously through you.” I laughed, and he looked sad. “Don’t give me that look, Adeel. I’m fine. I know I’m not living my dream but I’m okay.”
“I know. You’re tough, Syd. I just always pictured us doing this together, that’s all.”
“You feel like you left me behind?” I asked. He nodded. “Don’t. Yeah, life sucks at times and I’m still a little bitter about what could have been, but I have a decent job and a happy and healthy daughter. I’ll get over myself eventually.” This time I reached over and grabbed his hand. “I’m just happy that one of us got to win the lottery. I’m happy of you, I’m proud of you, and you deserve this. Keep showing the world that heart.”
He gave my hand a squeeze. “Thanks, Syd.”
I smiled, then sighed. “Look, I hate to eat and run but I need to go home. I’ve got to work in the morning.”
“Yeah, me too. My flight is pretty early tomorrow.” Adeel said. “Can I walk you to your car?”
He paid and we made that short trip to the car in silence. We didn’t need to talk. We both knew what was about to happen. There would be no empty promises about keeping in touch, no half-ass attempts at getting together for dinner. Our lives were way too different and too busy for that. We had our moment in the sun and now it was over, our ships had finally passed. Only this time there was no awkward hug and no weird kiss on the cheek. Our hug was long and meaningful, and when we pulled back he kissed me on my forehead.
“That night did mean something, Syd. It was special.”
“Yeah, for me too.”
We exchanged one last smile before I got into my car. “Take care of yourself, Syd.”
“You too, Prince Mustafa Ali.”
I could hear him laughing a little as I drove off. He watched me until I was out of his sight, which he always did. I cried a little as I made my way home, but they were happy tears. I knew I most likely would never see my old friend again, but at least this time we got to say a proper goodbye.
