OP Age Comparator
Hello OP writers! Have you ever wondered, "how old was this character when X happened?" or had to do the maths on the ages of a cast of characters at a specific point in time?
Would you like to simplify that process to a mere few clicks?
I have created a google sheet which contains the data of the 432 characters with canon ages*, allowing you to compare any set of up to ten people at once!
*I might be missing some minor characters who had their ages shared, but all the major ones should be available.
How it works is quite simple:
Use the dropdowns in columns E, H, K and cell M2, as needed. These only contain the letters of the alphabet
Use the other dropdown to select the character you want. This dropdown will only list characters whose name starts with the letter picked in the first dropdown
That's it!
Column A lists "years from current canon" (as of August 2024, in case Oda blindsides us with another timeskip lol)
Column B lists some major events that happened that year, up to 38 years before canon. For more events check out the World Timeline on the wiki
Column C lists the in-universe year
The link provided above (and also here) only allows for using dropdowns. Please feel free to copy the entire sheet into your own drive if this is something you would find useful!
If there are any errors you find, or something runs wrong, please do let me know and I'll fix it ASAP!
I cannot guarantee the sheet could run in excel or anyplace outside of google sheets. I can guarantee the sheet won't run if you only copy the visible tab or its contents alone xD
Edit Aug 20th, I slightly optimized the layout of the dropdowns due to a sudden "hey i can just do it like this" realization haha
Please enjoy!
#one piece#fowlficsrandom#writing resources#I spent a fairly long time on optimizing the formulas used#and like 3x that on harvesting the data off the wiki LOL#so now im going to inflict it upon all of you#please enjoy <3

Lucky Name Numerology: Harnessing Power of Numbers For Success
In the realm of business, where competition is fierce and success hinges on every decision, exploring unconventional strategies can provide a significant edge. One such strategy gaining traction is the concept of lucky name numerology. This ancient practice believes that numbers possess unique vibrations that can influence various aspects of our lives, including our professional endeavors. By understanding the numerical vibrations associated with your business name, you can unlock hidden potentials and pave the way for growth and prosperity with the best astro numerologist in India.
Understanding Lucky Name Numerology
Lucky name numerology is based on the principle that each letter of the alphabet corresponds to a specific number. By calculating the numerical value of your business name, you can gain insights into its inherent qualities and potential impact on your ventures. These insights can be invaluable in making informed decisions about branding, marketing, and overall business strategy.
Benefits of Lucky Name Numerology for Business Expansion
Embracing lucky name numerology can offer numerous benefits for businesses seeking to expand and thrive. Here are some key advantages:
Enhanced Brand Identity: A well-chosen business name can create a strong and memorable brand identity. By using lucky name numerology, you can select a name that resonates with your target audience and evokes positive associations.
Improved Customer Attraction: A lucky name can attract customers who are drawn to its positive vibrations. This can lead to increased foot traffic, brand loyalty, and ultimately, higher sales.
Boosted Employee Morale: A business name with positive numerical vibrations can create a harmonious and uplifting work environment. This can enhance employee morale, productivity, and overall job satisfaction.

Strategic Decision Making: By understanding the numerical vibrations of your business name, you can make more informed decisions about marketing campaigns, product launches, and other strategic initiatives.
How to Calculate Your Business Name Numerology
Calculating the numerical value of your business name is a relatively simple process. You can use a lucky name numerology calculator or follow these steps:
Assign a numerical value to each letter of your business name based on the following chart:
A = 1, B = 2, C = 3, D = 4, E = 5, F = 6, G = 7, H = 8, I = 9, J = 1, K = 2, L = 3, M = 4, N = 5, O = 6, P = 7, Q = 8, R = 9, S = 1, T = 2, U = 3, V = 4, W = 5, X = 6, Y = 7, Z = 8
Add up the numerical values of all the letters in your business name.
If the sum is a single-digit number, that is your business name's primary number. If the sum is a double-digit number, add the individual digits together until you arrive at a single-digit number.
Decoding Your Business Name's Numerology
Once you have calculated your business name's primary number, you can interpret its meaning based on the following chart:
Number 1: Represents leadership, independence, and new beginnings.
Number 2: Represents cooperation, harmony, and diplomacy.
Number 3: Represents creativity, self-expression, and optimism.
Number 4: Represents stability, practicality, and hard work.
Number 5: Represents freedom, adventure, and change.
Number 6: Represents love, harmony, and nurturing.
Number 7: Represents spirituality, wisdom, and analysis.
Number 8: Represents abundance, power, and material success.
Number 9: Represents humanitarianism, service, and spiritual enlightenment.
Choosing a Lucky Name for Your Business
If you are starting a new business, you can use lucky name numerology to select a name that aligns with your desired goals and aspirations. Consider the following tips:
Research Desired Outcomes: Determine what you want your business to achieve. Are you looking for growth, financial success, customer loyalty, or something else?
Identify Supportive Numbers: Research the numbers associated with your desired outcomes and choose a name that incorporates those numbers.
Consider Brand Identity: Ensure that the chosen name fits with your overall brand identity and messaging.
Seek Professional Guidance: If you are unsure about how to apply lucky name numerology to your business, consider consulting with a best astro numerologist in India.
Conclusion

Additional Tips
Consider Your Business's Mission and Values: Choose a name that reflects your business's mission and values.
Avoid Negative Connotations: Avoid using words or phrases that have negative connotations.
Test Your Name: Ask friends, family, and colleagues for their feedback on your chosen name.

"Art…" Rogue whispered. "Art, are you there?"
RESOURCE AGENT 43: NAME: ART. COMMUNICATION BEGIN.
INPUT: Art, are you there?
OUTPUT: I am here.
Rogue maintained his grip on the Doctor's side. He was fairly sure if he let go he would crash to the floor in a pile of shaking limbs. What had they done?
"Art, it's me, Rogue," Rogue whispered. "Can you tell me what is going on here? Why do they want me? Why did they want you?"
OUTPUT: The Cyberium noted improved function upon conversion of mortals with exceptional skillsets. The Integration Scheme was set up to collect such individuals. When you are integrated, the Scheme will automatically move to the next target, alphabetically.
"Oh my gods," Rogue said. "I'm the bounty."
He fixed his gaze on the screen, trying to block out the grey concrete walls around him. There wasn't even the hint of brickwork, or a join at the corners. The room, like the corridor outside, was more a demarcation of space than an architectural construction. He tried to block it all out and just look at those three little letters: 'Art.'
"Art, honey," said the Doctor. "Will you talk to me too?" Rogue felt the warmth of the Doctor pressing against his arm, which was curved around the Doctor's side. He slipped his hand under the jumper and the shirt below so that he could feel skin on skin. He could feel his own pulse beating in his palm, just above the Doctor's hip.
OUTPUT: Resource Agents will give information when requested.
"Okay, here's my question," said the Doctor. "How do we get out of here?"
OUTPUT: Information restricted. Agent Rogue is needed for Integration, therefore exit cannot be allowed.
Rogue frowned. "That doesn’t sound like Art at all. He spent most of the last few years of his life trying to get me out of restricted buildings."
CLARIFICATION: I am Resource Agent Art. Art is dead.
"Fuck off," said Rogue, instinctively. It was the first thing he could think of to push the word 'dead' away. He felt his newly formed hope snap - though hope for what he couldn't have articulated - and found that he couldn't anchor himself by starting at Art's name anymore.
"Okay…" the Doctor blinked hard as he followed his train of thought. "Okay so you've got all of Art's skills and knowledge, but with an added allegiance to the Cyberium?"
OUTPUT: I have a mission. I will complete this mission. This mission is to complete the Integration List.
"Why do you even want to?" said Ruby. Rogue looked at her and saw that her eyes were full of tears, her cheeks puffy and red. He barely had the strength, but he reached a trembling hand towards her, and the three of them huddled together in front of the computer screen.
OUTPUT: The purpose of the mission is to optimise function.
"But why? To do what?" Ruby insisted. Rogue was already shaking all over but something about Ruby took him even further aback. She was no wallflower, definitely not, but the strength of her questions rang through the room, even if she was taking care not to shout. She seemed to be the only one of the three travellers with a clear sense of purpose at the moment.
OUTPUT: To achieve optimal outcomes.
"In what?" Ruby groaned. The Doctor put his hand on her shoulder and she reached up to grasp it while she stared at the screen. With her other hand she cleared her eyes of tears again.
OUTPUT: In everything.
Rogue wasn't sure whether he wanted to ask a thousand more questions or smash the machine to pieces. He felt like his feet weren't touching the ground, like he was floating through a nightmare world of silvery-blue light where the mavity could toss him around in circles at any moment it chose.
Then they heard more footsteps.

How To Monogram On Ribbon With Embroidery Machine
Adding a Personal Touch: How to Monogram on Ribbon with Your Embroidery Machine
Embroidery machines have revolutionized the art of personalization, allowing you to create custom designs on a variety of fabrics. But did you know you can also use your machine to monogram beautiful ribbons for a touch of elegance on everything from gifts to home decor? This guide delves into the world of machine-embroidered monograms on ribbon, equipping you with the knowledge and techniques to create stunning personalized pieces. Gathering Your Supplies: Essential Tools for Success Before diving into the embroidery process, ensure you have all the necessary tools on hand: Embroidery machine: This is your creative canvas, allowing you to stitch out your monogram design. Embroidery hoop: The hoop holds your ribbon taut for precise stitching. Choose a size appropriate for your ribbon width. Embroidery thread: Select high-quality embroidery thread in colors that complement your project. Consider using metallic threads for a touch of sophistication. Stabilizer: Stabilizer prevents the ribbon from bunching or puckering during embroidery. Use a lightweight tear-away stabilizer for best results with ribbon. Monogram font: If you haven't already, choose a monogram font that suits your project's style. There are countless free and paid monogram fonts available online. Embroidery software (optional): While not essential, embroidery software allows you to create or edit monogram designs and customize stitch settings for optimal results. Preparing Your Ribbon for Embroidery Unlike thicker fabrics, ribbon requires some special preparation before it's ready for your embroidery machine: Heat Seal (Optional): For ribbons with a tendency to fray, consider using a heat seal tool to create a clean edge. Simply follow the instructions for your specific heat seal tool to prevent fraying during embroidery. Cut the Ribbon: Measure and cut your ribbon to the desired length, taking into account the size of your monogram and any additional seam allowance needed for finishing the edges. Attach Stabilizer: Cut a piece of tear-away stabilizer slightly larger than your ribbon. Center the ribbon on the stabilizer and use a temporary adhesive spray to secure it in place. This ensures the ribbon remains stable during embroidery. Pro Tip: Test your chosen thread and stabilizer combination on a scrap piece of ribbon before starting your project to ensure proper stitching and tension. Designing Your Monogram: From Font to Software There are two main approaches to creating your monogram design: Using Your Embroidery Machine's Built-In Fonts: Many embroidery machines come with pre-loaded alphabet fonts that can be used for monogramming. Explore your machine's built-in options and choose a font that complements the overall style of your project. Using Embroidery Software: Embroidery software offers greater flexibility in designing your monogram. You can import your chosen monogram font, adjust letter spacing and sizing, and even add decorative elements like borders or flourishes. Tips for Designing Your Monogram: Keep it Simple: For beginners, a classic three-letter monogram is a great starting point. Consider using a single letter for a more minimalist touch. Choose Readable Fonts: Opt for clear, easy-to-read fonts, especially when using smaller ribbon sizes. Experiment with Sizing: Play around with the size of your monogram to ensure it fits proportionally on the ribbon. Embroidering Your Monogram: Stitching Success Once your design is finalized and your ribbon is prepped, it's time to bring your monogram to life! Here's a step-by-step guide: Thread Your Machine: Thread your machine with the chosen embroidery thread color and ensure proper tension. Refer to your machine's manual for specific threading instructions. Hoop the Ribbon: Carefully place the ribbon with the stabilizer attached into your embroidery hoop. Center the design on the ribbon using the hoop markings as a guide. Tighten the hoop securely without distorting the ribbon. Load Your Design: Transfer your monogram design to your embroidery machine (if using software) or select the built-in font option. Adjust Stitch Settings: Many machines allow you to adjust stitch density and other settings. For delicate ribbon, a lower stitch density is recommended to avoid puckering. Consult your machine's manual for specific recommendations. Embroider! Once everything is set up and you've double-checked your placement, hit the start button and watch your machine create your beautiful monogram. Pro Tip: It's always a good practice to do a test stitch on a scrap piece of ribbon with the same stabilizer to ensure everything is functioning correctly before stitching your final design. Finishing Touches: From Trimming to Embellishing After the embroidery is complete, here's how to add those final touches to your monogrammed ribbon: Trim Away Stabilizer: Carefully tear away the excess stabilizer around the monogram using your fingers or small tweezers. Seal the Edges (Optional): For a more polished look, especially on ribbons prone to fraying, consider sealing the edges using a fray check solution or by folding the raw edges under and stitching them down with a sewing machine or by hand. Embellish (Optional): Get creative and add a touch of personality with embellishments like small beads, sequins, or tiny buttons. Ensure the embellishments are securely attached and won't interfere with the functionality of the ribbon. Inspiring Applications: Putting Your Monogrammed Ribbon to Use Now that you've created beautiful monogrammed ribbon, here are some inspiring ways to incorporate it into your projects: Personalize Gifts: Add a monogrammed ribbon to gift bags, wrapping paper, or even tie it around a bouquet of flowers for a thoughtful touch. Dress Up Home Decor: Elevate throw pillows, table runners, or napkins with a monogrammed ribbon accent. Create Personalized Accessories: Embellish headbands, hair clips, or tote bags with your monogrammed ribbon for a unique touch. Sew it on Clothing: Monogrammed ribbon can add a custom detail to collars, cuffs, or pockets on shirts, dresses, or jackets. Wedding and Event Accents: Use monogrammed ribbon on wedding invitations, favor boxes, or table settings to add a touch of elegance. With a little practice and creativity, the possibilities for using your monogrammed ribbon are endless! Beyond the Basics: Troubleshooting and Advanced Techniques As you embark on your monogram embroidery journey, you may encounter some challenges. Here are some tips for troubleshooting and exploring advanced techniques: Ribbon Curling: If your ribbon curls during embroidery, this might indicate a tension issue. Try loosening the top hoop slightly or using a different type of stabilizer. Stitching Issues: If you experience thread breakage or uneven stitches, ensure proper thread tension, needle size is appropriate for the thread and ribbon, and the stabilizer is correctly attached. Lettering Techniques: For a more professional look, explore techniques like satin stitch for filled letters or outline stitch for a classic monogram effect. By understanding these troubleshooting tips and venturing into advanced stitch techniques, you can refine your monogram embroidery skills and create truly stunning results. Embrace the Journey and Personalize with Flair! The beauty of machine embroidery lies in its ability to transform a simple ribbon into a personalized work of art. With the knowledge and techniques outlined in this guide, you're well-equipped to embark on your monogram embroidery journey. So, don't be afraid to experiment, explore different designs and embellishments, and personalize everything from gifts to home decor with your unique touch. Happy stitching! Read the full article

How to Perform Amazon Keyword Research for Optimal SEO?
Introduction:
Mastering the art of Amazon keyword research stands as a fundamental pillar for achieving success on this platform. Grasping and optimising for Amazon’s distinctive search algorithm, A9, can open doors to enhanced visibility, increased sales, and a thriving customer base. This article serves as your comprehensive guide to demystify Amazon keyword research and leverage its potential to craft an unparalleled strategy for your business.
Key Categories of Keywords:
Product Terms:
Product terms are like magical phrases that elevate your products’ visibility on Amazon. They consist of words that describe your products’ functionalities and unique selling points. Shoppers employ these words when searching for products that match their specific needs. These terms are crucial as they establish a connection between your products and the shoppers actively searching for them.
Competitor Terms:
Competitor terms enable you to distinguish between the keywords you’re targeting and those utilised by your competitors. This insight helps you compile a refined list of specialised keywords that provide a competitive edge. It’s worth noting that you can employ the same keywords as your competitors to divert traffic to your own site, even if your offerings vary slightly.
Audience Terms:
Audience terms encompass a diverse array of keywords that potential customers might enter into the search bar. These keywords are specific to what customers are contemplating at the moment. Consider a scenario where someone is in search of new running shoes without a particular brand or type in mind. Their search might involve phrases such as “comfortable running shoes for wide feet” or “durable running shoes for trails.” These searches aren’t generic like “running shoes” but are tailored to the customer’s immediate needs and desires.
Conducting Effective Amazon Keyword Research
In the face of escalating competition, comprehending the nuanced dynamics of Amazon’s marketplace is essential. Amazon keyword research transcends mere identification of popular words; it involves unravelling the customer’s mindset, understanding their search patterns, and aligning your products seamlessly with their requirements.
Use Amazon’s Search Bar for Keyword Ideas:
Visit Amazon:
Start by navigating to Amazon’s homepage.
Enter a Basic Term:
Begin by typing a fundamental keyword associated with your product into the search bar. For example, if you’re marketing coffee mugs, input “coffee mug.”
Analyse the Suggestions:
As you input your keyword, Amazon will automatically display a dropdown list of suggestions, which are derived from popular searches by other users. Pay attention to these suggestions as they represent commonly searched keywords or phrases.
Dive Deeper:
Remove your initial search term and experiment with variations or more specific keywords. For instance, try typing “insulated coffee mug” to discover additional suggestions.
Utilise Characters and Spaces:
Enhance your search by typing your basic keyword followed by a space. You can also try adding the first letter of the alphabet, such as ‘a’, and then proceed through the alphabet (‘b’, ‘c’, etc.) to uncover more keyword ideas.
Explore Competitors:
If you have competitors who are performing well on Amazon, input their brand names or product names to explore the keyword suggestions that come up. This can provide you with keywords you may not have considered.
Compile a List:
While going through this process, create a comprehensive list of all the relevant keywords that could enhance your product listings.
Prioritise and Test:
From your list, select the most pertinent keywords and incorporate them into your product listing. Continuously monitor their performance and be open to making adjustments and experimenting with different combinations.
By utilising Amazon’s search bar for keyword recommendations, you tap into real data reflecting what customers are actively seeking, which can be invaluable for optimising your product listings for improved visibility and sales.
Refine Your Search:
Customise your search by selecting the appropriate Amazon marketplace (like Amazon US, UK, etc.) and apply filters such as search volume, word count, or categories to narrow down the results.
Analyse the Results:
Focus on Long-tail Keywords:
Concentrate on longer, specific phrases that describe your product in detail. Although these long-tail keywords typically have lower search volume, they face less competition and tend to yield higher conversion rates.
Explore Phrase Match and Broad Match:
Magnet also provides suggestions in the Phrase Match and Broad Match sections, offering additional keyword ideas related to your seed keyword.
Utilise the Magnet IQ Score:
This score, unique to Helium 10, takes into account both search volume and competition, helping you identify potentially high-opportunity keywords.
Build Your Keyword List:
As you review the results, add the most relevant and promising keywords to your list within Helium 10.
Export Your List:
Once you have finalised your keyword list, export it to a CSV file for further analysis or easy reference while optimising your Amazon listing.
Optimise Your Amazon Listing:
Implement the discovered keywords in your product title, bullet points, description, and backend keywords on your Amazon product listing to enhance visibility and conversions.
Understanding Amazon’s A9 Algorithm for Enhanced Visibility:
In addition to conducting thorough keyword research, understanding Amazon’s A9 algorithm is essential for improving product visibility.
Keyword Relevancy:
A9 evaluates how relevant product listings are to shopper keywords in titles, descriptions, bullet points, and backend keywords. Higher relevancy increases the likelihood of appearing in search results.
Conversion Rate:
A9 takes into account the product’s conversion rate, indicating how often clicks result in purchases. Higher conversion rates indicate customer satisfaction and enhance the product’s visibility.
Customer Satisfaction and Retention:
Price:
Competitive pricing influences ranking. Products offering good value for money are likely to rank higher.
It’s important to note that Amazon’s A9 algorithm is continually evolving, so strategies that work today may need adjustments in the future.
Conclusion:
Mastering Amazon keyword research is imperative for success in the competitive e-commerce landscape. By refining this skill, you can optimise your product listings in alignment with Amazon’s A9 algorithm, ensuring visibility, customer relevance, and market competitiveness. Stay adaptable, continuously refine your strategies, and let Amazon keyword research serve as your guiding light in the dynamic world of e-commerce.

You Can Tell I'm Working
You can tell I'm learning new things in CS when I won't shut the fuck up about it.
SO the way spelling suggestions work is that you have a couple of ways a word can be wrong - conversion, insertion, and omission. A letter can be the wrang letter, it can have an exztra letter in the middle, or it can do like tumblr and have a letter omittd from it.
You take a big ol' set of these possibilities - first a 25x[number of letters in the word] list of all the altered-by-one-letter spellings (so "wrang" would produce "arang, brang, crang..." and then "waang, wbang, wcang...") and then that would be filtered by which of those outputs matched the list of words in our dictionary. Then you'd have a list of 26x[number of letters in the word + 1] potentially fixing single-letter omissions by trying all the letters in the alphabet in the spaces between each letter and at the start and end of the whole word ("awrang, bwrang..." "warang, wbrang...") and again, offering a filtered selection of which ones are actual words. Finally you'd have the comparatively tiny list of [number of letters in the word] words fixing insertion by removing a letter ("rang, wang, wrng, wrag, wran").
The thing is you'd want to keep these unfiltered lists, because if you have a typo like "thign" where the writer mistyped "thing," none of the above fixes would fix it immediately. To get the right correction you'd have to go two layers out: performing one of the above fixes and then performing one of the above fixes on your result from the first fix. Whether that's omission down to thig and then insertion to thing, or two conversions to thinn and then thing, the point is there are two runs through the engine to get the fix. This does make the operations cost - the length of your "list of fix words" to be filtered - ^n where n is the number of runs through the engine. Like, if it's a 5-letter word there are 286 items in the list of single-letter fixes (5 + 25*5 + 26*6) but for two-letter fixes (such as to fix "thign" to "thing") it's more than squared (meaning it's higher than 81,796). The computational workload rises fast. Luckily, for user convenience you only really want to keep going on this problem until it spits out 4-5 valid (that is, "is a real word") results. Beyond 8 word options the user isn't getting much value, because they're having to scroll through a big ol' list.
But because you might want to save the list for another run-through, it's not optimal (as it might seem at first) to just make the filtering process part of the list-building process. You'll want to keep "thig" so that it can become "thing" during the next round of fixes.
So it's, "Round 1, gather the big list. Turn in the filtered 1-letter fix list as our first options. If that's <8, Round 2, gather the big list for each of the unfiltered results from round 1. Turn in the filtered 2-letter fix list as our next options. If that plus the round 1 list is still <8, Round 3. But that will probably be 8 or more. Most letter arrangements, especially ones vaguely intended to be words by a writer, will reach 8+ real words in 2 mutations.

Note
I mean, I guess it would depend on how they retrieve posts.
If what they do is search for "recommended blogs" and then show you random posts of them, the fastest approach would be check that those blogs are not in the "muted + blocked" list, before retrieving their posts (less users compared to posts = faster to check users than check posts).
And if the muted users list is ordered alphabetically, for example, with an index you could skip blocks of the database and start searching on the section of the specific letter each of them start with, making it faster (altough it takes more storage for saving the position on which starts each section).
If what they do is retrieve the posts first, then thats more difficult processing-wise, because they would need to check the users of each post (without repetition, putting them on a list) to then see if they are muted and do the filtering.
But, in general, its more about how optimized you have your database when getting the data. (And how much extra space are you willing to use for indexes)
Please make it possible to hide users' posts without blocking them. Like, in cases where a person hasn't done anything wrong to be blocked, but you just don't like their posts.
Answer: Hello, @deithwen!
As it turns out, we’ve received this feature request a lot over the years. Usually, it comes in as wanting the ability to “mute” other blogs on Tumblr. While we would love to build it, we’ve balked at it a bit because of its technical and product complexity. Let us explain what that means:
In terms of technical complexity, our current blocking feature is closest to how “muting” would work. Our current blocking feature may seem simple, but it’s very complex because of how big Tumblr is. Every time we fetch a list of blogs for you or anyone on Tumblr, we have to also fetch the list of who you’re blocking, and who’s blocking you, and filter out anyone with that block relationship. This mapping of who’s-blocking-who is stored in a directional way right now, so the “cost” of loading that list gets higher the more people you’re blocking and the more people who are blocking you. If you’re blocking 1,000 blogs, we have to check that list a lot. If you’re being blocked by 1,000 blogs, that’s another big list to check against.
In technical terms, this is a “many-to-many” relationship, which is almost always incredibly difficult to manage while not degrading the experience of using a platform like Tumblr. The more people who are blocking, the harder it is to store those lists in a way that’s easy to check, but we’re working on making it smoother. The vast majority of people don’t block many others, if at all, so it’s never been a huge problem. But the outliers who block thousands of others (or are blocked by thousands of others) can degrade performance for everyone over enough time.
Adding muting would throw on top of that yet another list of blogs to check, increasing the complexity of something that’s already pretty complex. It helps that muting would be one-directional and not bi-directional (as in, it doesn’t matter who’s muting you), but, as that list of muted blogs grows, your experience may degrade further. So we’d need to solve for that, which is definitely doable. It would just take time—and lots of it.
And, as a product, Tumblr is already pretty confusing to people trying to figure out what “blocking” means already, as well as our other filtering options. Up until fairly recently, blocking was almost entirely one-directional, the opposite way you’d expect: blocking made it so the blocked person couldn’t see you, not that you couldn’t see them. We’ve been updating blocking to work both ways instead, which is more common on social media these days. Similarly, the options to filter tags versus content cause a lot of confusion because they don’t work the same way as each other.
So if we wanted to add another filtering option to that mix, “muting” blogs, we’d need to be conscious of how all of those options work together—and are confusing in context with each other. We should really clean up that experience to be more streamlined and simple, not more complex. And I didn’t even mention the oddity of how different settings apply to your primary blog versus your sideblogs if you have more than one blog!
Taken together, it is a great idea for us to clean all of this up, improve our existing options here, and add “muting” for even more control and granularity. Sadly, however, it just isn’t high enough on our list of priorities to tackle anytime soon. We don’t want to simply tack on muting for the sake of doing it—we want to do a better job than that. I hope that makes sense!
Thanks for your question. It was an important one to address. If anything should change here, you will get news through the usual channels: here at WIP, or at @changes.

♥♥ NEW BLOG POST
Pack Your Bags; we're going on a trip through the tarot. Starting with the Major Arcana.
The Major Arcana
The Fool is usually unnumbered, although some decks label it zero.
The cards, also known as “Trumps,” are rich with ancient symbolism, and dominate the reading of a spread. This section decodes the symbols and describes the meanings most often ascribed to the major arcane, to inspire your own specific and relevant interpretations.
The Fool is the innocent adventurer, about to begin an important journey.
The Fool is the perfect example of the importance of understanding Old English. Erase everything you think of when you hear "What a Fool" and start with a fresh slate.
With a head full of hope, he is idealistic rather than practical; he is certainly not dressed for travel. The little dog at his heels tries to warn him of impending peril, but the Fool is blissfully ignorant of the risk he takes in stepping off a cliff. He is about to encounter danger, but how else can he make his way into the world?
The Fool is the eternal traveler, ready to set forth alone in search of life’s secrets.
We all begin life as a zero, a tiny egg of potential.
The Fool is the cosmic egg, symbolized by the shape of his number, 0.
As he journeys through the major arcana sequence, he is a part of every card, but he also stands outside the sequence, without a formal value.
An absolute beginner, he is about to explore the world, gain experience, and leave behind his status as a zero, a no-being. He will travel lightly, without the baggage of commitment.
The Fool is the dreamer, lead only by his needs and desires.
Usually depicted as a youth, the Fool must grow to become a man in the next card in the tarot sequence: the Magician—an individual who knows life and has identified what he needs to succeed in it.
The Fool on his journey will collect, in his bag, the four symbols of the minor arcana suits (the Cup, Sword, Pentacle, and Wand):
These items are the essence of his survival;
the Cup to drink from;
the Sword to defend himself;
the Pentacle, a coin, for victuals;
and the Wand to connect him with his higher self.
At this stage of his journey, he is yet to discover the power and meaning of these objects; when he fully understands their purpose, he may progress to the next stage of life, ready to morph into the card I, the Magician.
Even though his number is zero, his preceding card is the World, card XXI. Some tarotists even assign him number XXII/0, to show that the Fool is both the end and the beginning of the card sequence.

THE FOOL’S ASTROLOGY
THE FOOL AND KABBALA
The Fool’s letter is Aleph, the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet. It has no sound —it is the breath, the chi, the life force of the universe.
Life begins with a breath, as the Fool is the beginner in life.
Aleph commonly means ox, for endurance, and also instinct, which drives the Fool on his journey.
On the Tree of Life, he is placed on the first pathway between the spheres of Kether and Chockmah—denoting his journey from creation to wisdom.
UPRIGHT MEANING
The upright fool signifies calculated risk. It’s never too late to begin anew and follow your heart’s desire. The journey ahead is not without danger, but it is time to take a leap of faith.
This card depicts those embarking on new enterprises and educational courses provided sensible planning is in place; this is a time for optimism and a fresh perspective.
Whatever you start now will go well, provided you do look before you leap—but once the decision is made, it’s time to push forward and not look back; have courage, commit to your path, and be fully in the moment. The Fool’s appearance in a reading can bring a sigh of relief, in that there is now a way ahead.
Welcome in the new and travel lightly.
Here are some insights the Fool can offer in particular areas of life:
Home: The Fool can show a young person leaving home for the first time. Also, surprise visitors could call. You may also have younger guests in your home.
Relationships: A new relationship—go with the flow at this point.
Career and money: You may have a sabbatical or a new opportunity in your current job or a new career or enterprise.
Prioritizing your workload is also the key to moving ahead swiftly.
REVERSED MEANING
Is what you’re proposing—or a situation offered to you—a leap too far?
The Fool reversed brings out his irresponsible side, as his mouth works ahead of his brain. Without thinking through the downsides, the Fool makes decisions that are not wise.
The reversed Fool leaps without awareness and so becomes the are not wise. The reversed Fool leaps without awareness and so becomes the literal idiot, sabotaging his chances due to desperation and irrationality.
Think carefully before agreeing to a new approach to work and hold back from emotional commitments until you are sure of your ground.
HIS WISDOM MESSAGE
Leap, but look first.
THE FOOL’S SYMBOLS
In the Rider-Waite tarot (my favorite) cards, the Fool appears with these magical symbols. Some of them reappear in other major arcana cards, so learn to recognize them and you’ll soon find you can apply your knowledge throughout the deck.
The dog represents instinct and self-preservation. The animal tries to warn the Fool that he is about to walk off a cliff, but the Fool is oblivious to his warning.
See this symbol on card XVIII, The Moon.
The white rose or butterfly: The white rose stands for purity and innocence. Some cards show the Fool with a butterfly, a symbol of dreams and spirit. See the white rose symbol on card XIII, Death.
The bundle: The Fool carries little in his bundle—just his essentials and four talismans, the symbols of the minor arcana.
The white sun: This is a symbol of consciousness, of the workings of the mind that are directly expressed. As the sun rises, it illuminates the Fool’s world, showing it all in the best possible light. The sun is white, which links with the Fool’s chakra of the crown and has the purity of spirit.
See the golden sun on card VI, The Lovers; XIV, Temperance; XIII, Death; XVIII, The Moon; and XIX, The Sun.
The red feather: The red feather in Fool’s cap denotes his life force. See this symbol on card XIX, The Sun, and XIII, Death.

Cards from the traditional Marseilles deck, whose images have inspired most modern decks, are depicted throughout and their symbolism is explained.
The Fool is the eternal traveler, ready to set forth alone in search of life’s secrets.
It is a significant and complex card that represents new beginnings, freedom, and taking risks.
On the surface, the Fool is depicted as a carefree young person journeying through life, carrying a bundle of possessions with a dog at their feet.
The Fool's clothing is often brightly colored, and they are often shown about to step off a cliff into the unknown. The Fool represents a journey, both literal and metaphorical. It represents the beginning of a new chapter in life, where anything is possible, and the future is uncertain.
The Fool urges us to take a leap of faith, be brave, and embrace new opportunities, even if they are risky or untested. Another aspect of the Fool is that it represents innocence and naivety.
The Fool does not yet know what lies ahead and is therefore optimistic and eager to learn and experience new things. In tarot readings, the Fool can represent a need to take risks, let go of fear and make bold decisions.
The Fool can also signify a fresh start, a new phase in life, or a call to explore and discover new things.

Hi, sorry to bother you, but I saw your post about learning calligraphy to better your handwriting? I was wondering if you remember any practice materials or methods you might have used? I have horrible handwriting and am trying to better it, but keep hitting walls on finding any practice materials that aren’t kindergarten level. Again, sorry to bother you on an old post but I thought you might be able to help another in their pursuit for better penmanship.
Not a problem! And I just posted that yesterday, so you're good!
There's an absolute TON of instructional work on calligraphy, and I agree, most start off way too basic, and then just skip through the "practice practice practice" portion, and end up not really teaching the evolution of the letter forms, which is stupidly helpful, especially once you already know the basics of handwriting.
I'll post a list of books I 1000% recommend at the bottom, but there's a few things to know about calligraphy when you start.
Calligraphy and handwriting are seen as 2 different art forms now. They didn't use to be.
There is a HUGE difference between your "daily hand" and "calligraphy."
Learning calligraphy will have a relatively small impact on your daily hand unless you practice a style that is foundationally similar to what you already know.
So, you have 2 goals: learning "fancy" lettering, and improving your handwriting.
If you want to improve your handwriting, you have to go in reverse historical chronological order, so that your hands and eye adapts most naturally, which will give you the fastest results.
So where to start?
First, if you're American, you were probably taught the D'Nealian script (block and cursive) when you learned how to write (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/D%27Nealian)
This was derived from the Palmer Script (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palmer_Method)
Which is in turn derived from Spencerian script (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spencerian_script), and in turn before that, Copperplate (which is more of a font family rather than a specific style, it's most famous offspring being English Roundhand).
If your goal is to improve your daily writing style, practice those hands in that order. DO NOT BE TEMPTED TO START WITH COPPERPLATE, IT WILL MELT YOUR BRAIN. TRUST ME.
I'd start with Palmer tbh. That's probably what your grandparents learned, and have you seen letters from the 1940s? Fuckin beautiful.
The key points are the angle of your paper, the angle of your pen, and your letter spacing. The styles all the way back to Spencerian tend to still allow for you to manipulate the pen with your fingers (like you're used to) rather than your whole wrist or arm (like older scripts like classic italics, copperplate and Gothic styles).
Here's a really old and really fabulous guide to the entire Palmer method: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://lcweb2.loc.gov/service/gdc/scd0001/2006/20060809007pa/20060809007pa.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjwtLfquYvsAhXydM0KHUpDBCMQFjAbegQIAhAB&usg=AOvVaw3cruMOFNqF4iK6as-toBJN
It's a free PDF. Pay particular attention to the section of scribbles and circles! THESE ARE NOT OPTIONAL IF YOU WANT TO RE-TRAIN YOUR HAND. You have to use muscles in ways they're not used to moving, so get a pad of paper, and in idle down-time (watching TV, riding the bus, on that stupid Zoom meeting that could have been an email), SIT THERE AND SCRIBBLE OVALS LIKE A LUNATIC.
Seriously, this is the single best thing you can do to improve your handwriting. And artwork for that matter. You have to train your hand. You have to start being conscious of how the pen feels, how it scratches the paper depending on how hard you press, how thick lines feel vs thin ones, how a miniscule change in pressure changes the whole line and shape you're doodling.
AUTISM/ADHD NOTE: doing this may make you feel weird, or overstimulated! If it's not something you can keep doing, then DONT. If like me though, you find the repetitive movement and scratchy feel of the pen on paper soothing, you're gonna freaking love this part.
So that covers scripts for the most part (well at least for the past couple of centuries).
ON TO BLOCK LETTERING!
In my research, I found that those annoying bubble letters with the I hearts I despised in middle school actually had a historical precedent: Uncial lettering.
Uncial (and half-uncials) lettering was the signature font of the Kells Monastery, and what we all think of when we thing "celtic/Irish lettering". Famous examples are the way Bilbo Baggins writes in the Hobbit and LOTR films, more pub signs than you can shake a stick at, etc.
Remember what I said about how older scripts require less finger movement and more wrist/whole arm movement? Half-uncial is one of those odd intersectional fonts. Below a 5/8" line height, you'll probably get good results moving mostly your fingers, but as you scale up, you'll get smoother lines by moving larger joints (wrist, keeping fingers in place, and then whole arm for 3"+ line heights).
The foundation of half uncial font is the circle. But it's more of a horizontal oval. Once you can draw a slightly elongated circle, and a straight line, you're ready for half uncials because every other letter is based on the "O". A's? A circle with a stick. D's? 3/4 of a circle with a horizontal ascender.
Now this us where the books I recommend come in.
You're going to want to start with the Celtic Design series by Aidan Meehan. Start with "A Beginner's Manual". It lays out the mathematical and geometric construction behind every major facet of celtic illumination. I particularly like the bit on the geometry of Insular letters at the end.
Then go through "Celtic Alphabets", followed by "Illuminated Lettes" if you're interested in the embellishments and decorated letters, though it does talk about how letter forms are constructed geometrically, which i found super useful.
But the font i use the most on a regular basis is Architects Hand. It's an all caps highly angular and tight, but easy to read and execute hand. Here's an example:
Since its mostly straight lines designed for optimal readability even at the smallest font point sizes, it's a super useful and easy way to write fairly quickly and legibly.
I hope this helps to answer your question and points you in the right direction! Since I moved on to specializing in knotwork and illumination fairly quickly after discovering calligraphy, I have a lot more information about those subjects than handwriting, but if you want more info, by all means, ask away!

You've probably written about that but let's get into some details: what inspired Meow's design? From the species of awakened kitty, to the parts of their outfit, the spells they slot, the name? (The name I do recall you explaining so no need to answer that one, just in case people dunno and want a link or something.)
Bonus: list your favourite feline characters in media.
Meow started out as a friend's character concept that never got used: a wizard polymorphed into a cat who kept her (I think it was a her...) spellbook as scratch marks on a board somewhere in a house (like, attic floorboard sort of thing). The form was intentional for some reason; I don't recall if she was a nothlit or not, but I'm pretty sure given the friend that she wasn't.
Meow's transition into my character concept (before becoming a sorcerer) started with the "cat wizard" premise and nixed the polymorphy part. (I like making inhuman characters.) I chose Jiji (Kiki's Delivery Service) as the general model because I've always liked him. The bit about being kitten sized but fully grown is mostly that Jiji looks really small to me relative to the humans, though his girlfriend is about the same size. (Other Ghibli cats are larger.)
I then added a wizard hat -- probably inspired by that image I found, but mainly to be on-the-nose about it.
So there's Meow at basics: Jiji with a wizard hat.
The trouble with playing a true cat is that, with D&D's rules as written, you can't cast spells and can barely use magic items: D&D requires human speech for verbal components for spells and command words for many magic items (incantations) and human-like hands for somatic components (gestures) for spells and holding or using most magic items. Animals don't even necessarily get the same magic item slots in editions that use such a system! So what's a cat caster to do?
This is where ioun stones and reserve feats (mentioned in Meow's bio) come in.
Ioun stones are slotless magic items (so you don't have to worry about whether or not you can equip them) that provide passive bonuses to whomever they're equipped to. They're slotless because they float around you -- no need to interact with them with hands, don't have to wear them. The only trouble I have with ioun stones (and the reason I have yet to use them in a game) is that since they are little gems (of any gem shape) orbiting their user, someone else could (and would) simply snatch them away. (I think this is a little too easy and they should get some sort of telekinetic resistance to such attempts while equipped, but that's just me.) Prior to use on this blog, Meow would have taken all of the feats and prestige classes needed to reduce the number of pages it takes to transcribe a spell into a spellbook, then would have engraved the spellbook onto ioun stones (one spell per stone). This would give Meow a spellbook a cat could carry.
(I had also considered Spell Mastery, but that's so limited that you may as well be a Sorcerer.)
Reserve feats were late additions to 3.5, appearing in Complete Mage and Complete Champion. Each feat gives you an ability similar to a 5e cantrip in power, but (frequently) equivalent in theme to a low-level spell: so long as you have a spell of an appropriate type (usually a subschool or descriptor) "available to cast" (meaning you have a spell slot available that can cast a given spell of the type specified and either you know such a spell [Sorcerer] or have it prepared [Wizard]), you can use the feat's granted ability at-will. Usually, the ability's save DC, damage dice, range, and/or duration scale with the level of the spell held in reserve. These abilities are Supernatural, which means they don't use components at all, take a standard action (= 5e's action) to use by default, and do not provoke attacks of opportunity, but are negated in antimagic fields and do not benefit from most feats and class features that improve spells. There aren't many good ones, sadly, and there are few ways of "optimizing" such feats, but they're helpful in an edition that didn't even have at-will cantrips.
With those things and the Silent and Still Metamagic feats (yes, metamagic was a category of feat in 3.5), Meow would be functional, if low-powered for a Wizard.
These were all hypotheticals until I got the appointment to the Collective. Meow had been on my mind at the time, but had been sitting in murky half-thoughts for a while before then, so it was more happy coincidence that I ended up changing Meow from a wizard into a sorcerer. (I was tempted not to: it almost defeats the purpose of the ioun stones.) That and I'm sick of playing humanoids besides elves, but that's a digression.
I had most of what I needed, but was left with a name. Dissatisfied with options I found on random name generators, I decided to make my own. I combined "Ozymandias" with "Meow" and changed the initial vowel; I then inserted "Felix" in there and pretended the resulting "-xas" was enough to evoke "Abraxas". "-imilian" at the end is because I think "Maximilian" (or however it's spelled) is fun to say. I don't recall where the "-cyrri-" came from off-hand; I know I wrote it down somewhere. (It might be to add letters of the alphabet.) "But no one will get the allusions if stacked that much!" Quiet, you! The point was to come up with an outlandish name -- the sort you see fictional wizards using. The longer the name and the harder it is to understand, the more difficult it is for someone to steal it. Plus, it makes "Meow" funnier. ("Chiro" is a common Japanese cat name; I list it as an alternative because even I think "Meow" is a dumb name for a cat.)
Favorite fictional cats: Jiji, Mewtwo, Mew, Meowth/Persian, maybe Salem (Sabrina the Teenage Witch), ... I'm sure there are others. I like cats, I just don't tend to think about them re: favorite characters.
And, as always, glompage for the ask!
