I just realized that Bad Omens is gonna be playing with Linkin Park in Dallas/Fort Worth on the 8th of this Month... That's only 6 days away. I'm like 5 hours away from Dallas/Fort Worth 👁👄👁

I really hope they get to explore Dallas/Fort Worth and get to explore in peace! Their Asian Town is so awesome and there's a really cool bar where u can drink (Ik Noah doesn't drink anymore but theres sodas and other non alcoholic drinks) and play console or steam games! I feel like the boys would enjoy that so much!!

I haven't been to Dallas/Fort Worth since my ex and I broke up years ago but DFW is so cool.

Something we keep neglecting with School Bus Graveyard is the fact that this is taking place in GEORGIA. It's highly likely that everyone except Ben and Aiden grew up either in Georgia or in neighboring areas.

These kids are Southern and I find this hilarious for some reason. Logan exclaims "Good Gravy!" unironically and Taylor says "Bless your heart!" to anyone she gets pissed at and they are GOING to confuse the life out of the Clark kids.

Hazel has a deep love for Jazz and bands in general.

She not only grew up in New Orleans, but in the French Quarter, where there are lives bands performing all day, trying to make it big and get fast cash.

She was probably very disheartened to see the city after the storm. HOO takes place in, what, 2009? 2010 maybe? Doesn’t matter, it was after Katrina.

Like imagine coming to an unknown world that’s set 70 years in the future, but not only is your home not the same, the best parts are underwater or destroyed.

Hazel’s accent is probably very unique because while French has mostly left the vernacular of the people, she’s from a time where it was still around, if only a little bit. So it’s southern, yes, but it as vowels and pronunciations that belong to the French.

She speaks French, buts it’s mostly broken, because again, the language has started to leave the city and its people.

She likes coffee with bread and will eat spaghetti or red beans seven days out the week.

I like to think Nico brought her a beignet at some point after her resurrection, because one, it’s delicious, and two, it reminds her of home.

Her favorite time of the year was Madi Gras back when she was alive, the first time at least. She loved hearing the bands play and she got front row seats since the parades come through the Quarter.

Growing up in the South and meeting none of the southern ideals while still adoring your traditions is so weird.

I'm queer, non-christian, and left leaning. The family I grew up with will never fully accept me the way they accept my cousins and while I find good connections in my communities I take a piece of the South with me where ever I go.

I love the cities where I can be openly myself but I can't drink sweet tea unless it's more sugar then liquid. My favorite dishes will always be shrimp and grits, fried chicken and collared greens, boiled peanuts and peach cobbler or eating water melon on the steps with salt on a hot day.

I miss running around bare foot and sneaking off to the train tracks with my cousins to flatten pennies or carry home wild black berries in our shirts.

I'll still always find comfort in the lazy fire flies at night and miss falling asleep to my papa's folk records cackling away on the table.

Im hopelessly in love with the South, I just with the South was a little kinder to me.

not a new statement from me by any means but traveling through my home the south and seeing country folk tend to the earth & their animals, and city folk blast music as they dance with joy of heritage or identity, all of us just trying to get by.... it makes those statements folk make about how we "deserve what we vote" hurt worse. people who say that have no idea the life & love down here even when we know our government will ensure we arent forever.

‼️VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE READ‼️

Okay I know I joke about tornado season a lot (cause I am a tornado nerd who lives in the south) but in all seriousness, please have a tornado safety plan. I know a lot of us don’t have basements so bathroom or interior room on the lowest level of your house away from windows. Never take cover under an overpass. Get in a ditch and cover your head. Don’t try to outrun a tornado. If you see a tornado forming or touch down and there’s no warning or sirens, call 911 to report an active tornado so they can get the warnings out. Don’t forget your pets!! Inside and in your safe space with you!

Don’t stay back to grab stuff. I understand that you don’t want to lose important or expensive things but they can be replaced, you can’t.

PUT SHOES ON!! I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!

In the event that you take a direct hit from a violent tornado, STAY WHERE YOU ARE. if there is debris on top of you obviously get out of that but STAY WHERE YOU ARE AND WAIT FOR HELP TO ARRIVE!! DO NOT WANDER AROUND THE STREETS!! if there are power lines down, which there probably will be, DO NOT GO NEAR THEM!! The electricity radiates. You don’t have to touch them to get electrocuted.

Don’t wait until a warning is issued to start preparing.

As soon as a watch is issued or tornado possibilities are confirmed, put your shoes on, grab something to cover your head (preferably a helmet if you have one), and gather your things into your safe place.

By time the warning is issued you only have a few minutes, maybe seconds, to get to your safe space if you are to take a direct hit.

KEEP YOUR NOTIFICATIONS ON AT NIGHT!! Night time tornadoes have the highest mortality rate of any tornado. Make sure your phone is loud enough to wake you up! Especially if you live in a rural area with no sirens.

That’s about all I can think of right now but please please please don’t wait until the last second to get to your safe space. It’s better to over react than to under react.

Every day i think about the decapitated deer head that i found floating in the water while canoeing in a bog... i wonder how hes doing

Being mad about being southern and queer i love houston!!! I do!!!! Theres culture and so many great amazing people its my home !!!! And its also just quickly becoming actually unsafe to live in texas its hard with rising temperatures and laws being instated

it's really funny seeing people say "the south is actually only these states:" and then go on to list wildly different states that basically cover the entirety of the u.s. that isn't the northeast, great lakes, or west coast.

none of these people are wrong exactly bc regions can be more than one thing, and regions often overlap. but it is funny that people fight about it.

#my concept of 'the south' has been shaped by living in florida #and to a certain extent maryland (the portion of the state that isn't below the mason dixon line tries to compensate-#-by being aggressively SouthernTM like bro you are mid atlantic just accept it)#but anyway my point is that places like texas or tennessee or even mississippi are super foreign to me #but they are still very much the south #just a wildly different flavor of it #i grew up on the shore and in swamp land #deserts and moutains and plains are not what i picture when i think of the south #but then i'll see smth in that setting and it's like oh yeah that too is the south lol #personal
