I'm feeling really angsty tonight (post-vacation comedown maybe?) and can't stop thinking about my 'they go back to the Arctic' fitzier fic.

Cause like...actual Francis Rawdon Moira Croizer was Not Particularly Good at being on land. He fled to the Arctic again partly because of that and, one assumes, partly because of his heartbreak via Sophia Cracroft.

And it's astonishing how many real life Arctic disaster survivors WENT BACK. They couldn't live in regular society anymore, and there was something that just...drew them back, inexorably.

It's the PERFECT setup for a Francis POV angsty pining unrequited doomed-in-love fic where he attempts to flee from James, his heartbreak, and his own inadequacies/failings by taking another commission to find the Passage, and he tries like hell to avoid taking James with him but James is strangely persistent and public/official sentiment seals the deal. James will be his second, and as it turns out the love isn't quite as unrequited as Francis thinks...

i still can’t believe they used the instrumental to cigarette daydreams for this mission like that was honest to god attempted murder by insomniac. the song, the nostalgia for the kids they were before emily and ben died and harry got sick, the warm autumn colors, the reunion patching together a pivotal part of peter’s life at a time he literally needs it most after getting fired from brooklyn visions. and in the scene before this, peter’s remembering may’s lesson about maintaining balance in his life then boom the return of one of the people who keep him rooted in life outside the mask when it’s so easy to breeze by it. first act of sm2 i love you.

I don't want Jason as a declawed version of himself, all 'murder Is Wrong' and part of the batfam, but I also don't want him as an evil 'I blow up schools and shoot people for fun' villain.

I also once saw someone say a big part of the divesiveness here comes from how Robin!Jason and Red Hood!Jason are practically different characters. If you want villainous Red Hood, you make Robin Jason more aggresive, angrier, you make him more like what he'll become as an adult. And if you like Jaybin, you explain his murders and mistakes as side-effects of the pit and make Red Hood nicer and more agreeable, like how he wss before.

But I feel like both are a disservice to his character, but the 2 extremes of him are also really hard to reconcile.

Thunderweave where Gale stays in bg to help Rolan rebuild the shop + they dance around their giant obvious crushes on each other for weeks until they finally end up kissing. Somehow they manage to still misunderstand each other for another week or two.

Gale dropping a stack of books because Rolan rolled his sleeves up and exposed his forearms. Gale noticing Rolan forgets to eat when he’s wrapped up in a project or really busy so he starts leaving lovingly prepared meals on his desk at regular intervals.
