hello! this list was quite literally revealed to me in a dream just now...which means now you all have to read it. happy holidays. a gift for you.

i read RWRB when it released, but started reading rwrb fics earlier this year during some tough titty times...and have since discovered a gorgeous community of folks just pouring their hearts out into the fandom fabric, giving me the courage to start putting bits of my work out there as well. here are some of the works that were present in my life at VERY roop-specific moments this year:

I have 22 works on ao3!

2. What is your AO3 wordcount?

237,770 words and counting :))

3. What fandoms do you write for?

I have written for a few things over the past few years, but right now I am writing pretty exclusively for Resident Evil, though I do have a Call of Duty fic in progress that might see the light someday.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

(Im going to go with only Resident Evil ones because i said so)

1) what are you willing to sacrifice for peace? - my Vendetta fic! also the start of my connected chreon series

2) Please Don't Leave Me - a Leon sickfic I haven't gotten around to finishing yet lmaoooo (also part of the chreon series)

3) in my dreams, we're far away from here - part two of the chreon series, a 3+1 with carrying as the theme :))

4) When I need you, you're always there - another part of the chreon series, Leon has a nightmare

5) all it takes is a snap - my singular whumptober fic with hurt Leon haha (chreon ofc)

None of my newer fics are getting traction but thats okay! gonna enlighten as many people to the hurt Chris agenda

5. Do you respond to comments?

I try to! i sometimes am busy and forget to, but if i see one i usually comment back!

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

To be fair, I haven't killed anyone off yet. All my fics end happy because my poor heart can't take a bad ending.

7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

oooo, good question...either what are you willing to sacrifice for peace? or in my dreams, we're far away from here because of happy chreon :))

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I haven't yet, but I don't get too much engagement anyway. I don't think I have had the opportunity to get any. Haven't gotten any hate here either.

9. Do you write smut? If so, which kind?

I do!! I used to not, but now that I kind of know how it's done, I've been experimenting and practicing. Most of my fics nowadays have sex scenes in them (or multiple) but i have written a pure smut fic.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest crossover you’ve ever written?

I haven't! I'm not the biggest fan of crossovers and often avoid reading them because I'm not interested. Doesn't mean they're bad though. Just not my thing.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I hope not! Not that I'm aware of at least.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

I have not (though if you wanna, please ask! I'm very open to it)

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yes, I have! I am actually in a roleplay server and have a writing partner. We have been turning many an rp in a fic for you guys! Like I can't escape this now, unless you show me how (mine and @leon-thot-kennedy 's re 5 chreon au)

14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?

CHREON!!! I have liked a lot of ships from other fandoms, but chreon is without a doubt my favorite Resident Evil ship as well as all around ship. Other ships are just fine but chreon is my OTP, the source of all happiness in my life.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Oh definitely Please Don't Leave Me. I have an outline and a plan and everything, just haven't had the juice to write hurt Leon nowadays. I hope to come back to it though!!!

16. What are your writing strengths?

I don't actually know haha. No one has told me anything, but I like to think I do suspense fairly well? Not as good as other people but I'm still learning! This year marks my fourth year of writing though so that's exciting :))

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Definitely balancing dialogue, action, and internal thoughts. I always have too much of one of those. Also I tend to reuse phrases or sentence structure and I need to learn to spice it up a little lmaoo

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I think writing dialogue in another language is perfectly fine. Especially if the character speaks another language. You just have to be aware that not everyone will understand what is being said. But if it's essential to the plot, saying that they said it in another language works too.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Star Trek (2009) or the reboot movies lmao. It's funny, I started out not shipping anyone, but then started to ship Jim and Bones. But then I watched the original series and shipped Spirk in the old series. So I actually think that this was my first foray into shipping men together. Haven't been the same since hehehehe.

I was into Star Trek for about a year and a half! longest to date and I would say it was my first true hyperfixation. Resident Evil is creeping up on length though haha.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

Favorite fic is hard but I actually REALLY like I can't escape this now, unless you show me how . It's my baby, my magnum opus. The best thing I have had a hand in creating (even if only half of it is mine). For fics that are purely mine, The Stars Were Out was the most fun to write with the forest and stuff. Was kind of experimental but it was fun to try and describe things a little better and draw out the scenes.

Little Saint Nick by @ladyaj-13 / LadyAJ_13 (11k, T, Nick/Louis, Inspired by A Christmas Carol, Christmas fic, Supernatural Elements, curses, This fic was just so incredibly lovely, Nick was basically Radio 1 DJ Nick, but Louis wasn't famous, and while there more concerning parts, it's Lady AJ and this fic is the most fascinating and incredible world building, So soft in the end and so many feelings, And I loved Nick's lessons he learned and just omgoshhhhh anyway please read it)

A Kiss for Christmas by @ladyaj-13 / LadyAJ_13 (3k, T, Liam/Louis, Christmas fic, Santa Liam, basically?, fluff, flirting, humor, this was at once the most perfect depiction of Liam I have ever read AND the sweetest fic???, I loved the little tidbits about Father Christmas in there and the worldbuilding around how it all supposedly works, gah it's just so cute)

'Tis the Damn Season by @zanniscaramouche / zanni_scaramouche (3k, M, Harry/Louis, Famous/Non-Famous, Exes to Lovers, or I guess like, Exes with Benefits?, omg i just checked and zanni used that tag too LMAOOOO anyway, famous Harry, this fic is written in the most beautiful way, it reads like poetry, and it flows almost like a dream where it seems at times like the jumps are sudden and out of nowhere, but at the same time it's so fluid and makes perfect sense, I can't explain it but it's incredibly cool)

Situations Like These by @quelsentiment / wordsnnotes (31k, T, Zayn/Louis, Zouis fest fic, aro-ace Louis, uni AU, questioning sexuality, friends to lovers, strangers to friends to lovers more like haha but GAH yes, miscommunication, established Narry, non-binary Harry, the Larry friendship in this fic is literally so important to me as an ace, like the trust omg, anyway, acephobia and arophobia, humor, banter, like SO MUCH BANTER, I cannot even begin to explain why this fic means SO MUCH TO ME but it does, It's SO IMPORTANT, the gorgeous representation for a-spec identities is just, glorious, okay i'll stop now)

Trading Sins For Treason by @jaerie / jaerie (28k, E, Harry/Louis, mini Secret Santa exchange fic, Captive Prince AU, and with that comes a lot of warnings so please keep yourself safe and heed the tags!, royalty AU, omega prince Louis, alpha prince Harry, rape/non-con in a lot of different ways, forced breeding, kidnapping, yeah all that good stuff hah, i knew nothing about Captive Prince going into it, and i just fucking LOVED THIS, the world building and everything was just so incredibly done)

You and nilsh13 are two of the bravest people in this fandom for tackling that fic. That being said I believe this fic should be used as irrefutable proof of the existence of parallel universes. Because I refuse to believe anyone can write that gigantic of a fic that they sincerely believe to be canon compliant to the extent that Captainflash does unless they really did play a completely different version of 3H from everyone else.

Me and my sis like to joke about personalized copies being mixed with the normal game cartridges due to IntSys wanting to observe a social experiment about how much they can turn a fandom against itself for the haha funnies, but with the knowledge of this fic my sis put it best: There aren't multiple personalized copies, this guy's copy is the one copy that's different, and Edelstans became that way because they got Mandala Effect'd into believing what his game says happened was what actually happened lmaoooo

BUT ANYWAY it's weird going through a fic to critique it in the same way I'd do a meta post? But with just how much the fic's author apparently says the fic is canon compliant despite the fic smashing itself against any of the game's canon like a bird against a clean window, the focus is less on "the character sounds a little stilted here, maybe to this and that" or "the story is a little unfocused, maybe go back and look over it again and see if you can improve the flow by doing such and such," it's more "hey like. my guy. can you write one character in character? like. i'm just asking for one" and "so when are you going to like... follow the game's lore and stop inserting your AU in the canon compliant fic?" It's certainly interesting!

I am learning a couple things tho! This fic helped push Teach Theory, but apparently even the originator of the theory says that Edelgard was trying to kill Dimitri and Claude as part of the plan. From the fic:

"Hubert was predictably irate, though he refused to show it. “So the Archbishop has decided, rather than promoting Jeritza, to elevate this… mercenary to the teaching position?” The princess responded affirmatively.

Hubert groaned. “And both Dimitri and Claude remain alive?” She again nodded. Hubert sighed and placed his hands on the bridge of his nose, the clearest sign of frustration he would ever make in his liege’s presence."

I'd always thought they were two separate ideas - and in fact so do at least some people who believe in Teach Theory - but at least in this fic, the ideas were combined. So this isn't a total loss! Learned somethin' new lol

So I started the hogwarts au like i dunno, 3 weeks ago? And i wasnt like, sure into dsmp lore by then. I like threw myself into the mcyt fandom shdhs.

I think I was like, kinda in it, finally understanding how to keep up with the lore, but only really paid attention to the ccs I already knew about (the dteam, wilbur and tommy, some others).

So when I made the hogwarts au I like, it was still good. But because I'm me i did it the way i wanted, and decided to center the au mostly around the charas i knew. Idk if i mentioned it anywhere but i made a list of like, the charas i cared about most to least.

The ones near the top were the ones I knew the most about, so I decided to put a list of like 10ish of the ccs i knew the most about and only went into the complicated lore (what their wands were, what their pets were, their patronuses, etc) for those ccs

But heres the problem

Now more stuff has been added to the dsmp, and I'm finally caught up with lore so I'm like, actively here now. I joined around like, ok so I first heard of and was looking at the smp when the s1 finale happened. Then I spent maybe like 2 weeks figuring shit out? I think i started actively watching Tommy's streams (he was the only one i watched at first besides george, now i still mostly do tommy and techno but i also love watching Karl's streams, ranboos, but the rest of the lore is a lil hard for me to keep up with lol @starwither on tumblr is my savior) like, maybe a week before i made the hog au. Ok I'll be honest i dont remember the exact timeline, but luckily for you it's not relevant at all

So the problem is, over the past 3 weeks I got into the lore officially sticking with the streams, exploring different characters, and actually looking at the rest of the streamers instead of the main ones I lister previously

So now, like, for example I did not know who fundy was at all. I had heard of quackity and realized he was super relevant to the schlatt arc cause I think I was catching up to that at the time so he was on the lsit, but I didnt know shit about fundy besides that he was Wilbur's son in canon so I was like "ok I'll make him younger than will but idk him so I wont put him in the list"

But now I've watched more shit and like--- I'm love him🥺🥺🥺

But I already went and added all the random facts and itll be so much work to add fundy and ranboo and the ppl I know better now that i think will be more involved in the stories cause ik them better

But ugh so much workkkkk😔😔😔😔😔

Like captain puffy I decided to make a prefect literally last second so thered be 2 relevant chara 5th year prefects, but like, that was a guess I havent seen a single stream of hers. I'm thinking I'm gonna go through mcc vods of diff teams to try and knock off 2 stones at once (learning charas AND deciding their strengths and weaknesses in the hcc and quidditch n stuff)

Last night I went and finally did quidditch shit (I dont know how quidditch works I had to do research shdhshd idk shit) and I didnt have enough charas

I based it on rocket spleef (yall dont even know this yet my tumblr followers yall get sneak peek) and so I had like, maybe 10 charas I wanted for sure on teams. Then I had like 4ish that didnt do mcc but i thought i wanted them on a team (example: minx)

And that sounds like a lot yeah

Then I realized that it equals out to like 3 members per house and theres supposed to be 7----

So I kinda bsed the rest of the team

I went to the list of caring most to least, looked at the least section cause that's streamers that I dont know ANYTHING ABOUT but they're still current mcytbers/streamers so yeah

And I basically just threw all the ones who were in mcc into it 🤡🤡🤡

And I also bsed their houses so bad cause I DONT KNOW THEM HSHDSHS so it's probably fucking awful but I once again do not care

I still only ended up with 5 ppl per team but it's fine I mostly just didnt add some chasers theyll just be Generic BG Character That's Probably A Fandom Character That I'll Yearn For Someone To Comment About

I’ve never... watched Golden Girls, but I know I should lmao. So... I don’t think that he is maybe reacting that way, but my guess (I am on like 195 now lol so I’m not at all done but just spewing my own garbage rn) is that he is kind of “masking” to be what he thinks he has to be. I work in an office & I kinda do that so that everyone likes me. 😕 gonna word vomit in a 2nd request because I have a character limit lmaoooo 🍡🍡

Okay PT 2 of 🍡Rants lmao. Hawks is also the opposite of what I go for! Like I love a funny guy, but Aizawa in both looks & personality is exactly my type. My bf even has long dark messy hair, facial hair, is constantly grumpy, tired and pretty quiet lol. But I fckn love Hawks. I love the way he just... is such a dick to Endeavor. Like Endeavor is a douche and he is MAD SCARY. Like if I met him irl I’d cry frfr. Okay I think I am good now lol thanks for listening

Meh, you don’t have to watch it if you don’t want to. It’s a funny show, though! It’s one of my favorites ever. 

Oh, you’re 100% right about Hawks, though, especially because of how the Commission groomed him to be their shiny little doll & nothing else. I think that that’s part of why some women relate to him so much. It reminds me of how the marvel fandom loves Bucky so much. It’s the same concept of being stripped of everything you know in order to be a perfect tool for others. Hawks then develops a dependency on his mask & uses it to hide, so he doesn’t hurt as much or rock the boat.

I feel that. Okay, so like… Hawks & Endeavor… *sigh* I’ll continue under the cut.

This is the one aspect of his character that makes me just… I don’t think I could ever truly respect Hawks in reality because of this. He’s canonically admired Endeavor since he was a wee little chick. I get that. That’s not what upsets me. What bothers me is that… as he grows up… and after he learns about Endeavor… he still admires and respects him… the same as when he was a kid…

Like, it’s canon that Hawks knows about Touya. It’s canon that he knows about Shoto. He probably knows about Rei. If he knows about Rei, he probably also has some idea of Natsuo and Fuyumi given certain circumstances. (I’ll leave it at that to keep this spoiler free for you.) However, Hawks still thinks Endeavor is just the coolest. It’s obvious he seeks his approval and desires to work with his own personal hero. Now, when I learned that the information had no impact on his pristine image of Enji, I was like “Alright, well we’re having chicken for dinner. Shoto, you want chicken with your cold soba? Never mind. Tastes like motherfuckin RAT!”

I literally felt so betrayed, I wrote a whole angsty Dabi x Reader x Hawks thing that was just basically me calling the both of them out for their shit despite loving the both of them because nobody talks about how they have some p sucky traits. 

I just can’t excuse that from Hawks. Like, knowing what I do about Hawks, I would never trust him as a hero. I can’t be sure if he’d save me if/when I needed him, but that’s a whole other rant about how I think he’d dismiss me. My point is that Hawks is the character he’s supposed to be, a “false hero” who Stain would hate, even under his mask. Also, it is an accurate portrayal of how heroes who are supposed to protect people don’t always protect you like they’re supposed to, and it’s a lot more common than most people realize. You know?

Also, tag yourself. I’d see Endeavor, call him a bitch to his face, call him every name in the book, punch him in the face, spit on him, and tell him to get out of my face & go to hell. (Although, I do love AUs where he’s a good dad & not a piece of shit who frequently beats his family. Also, he’s beefy & the thirst is real.) (He still canonically a shitstain, tho.) Also, the “Endeavor redemption arc” bullshit is stupid, and it shouldn’t be a thing. He’s not actually trying to do better to make up for what he did, he’s trying to do better for his own personal gain. He’s still using certain abuse tactics & it makes me so angry.

Only Thing That Can Quench My Thirst, by eyesofshinigami, 6.5k words (E). Louis wouldn't exactly call it a thing, his newfound fascination with the curly trail that starts below Harry's bellybutton and disappears into his skinny jeans. It's definitely not a thing. It's just... Alright, maybe it's a thing. (the entire reason for pubefest2020, tbh, this is such a fave fic, sigh)

Autumn at My Window, by TheCellarDoor, 20.4k words (E). a lot of pining, Louis' addiction to Harry's scent, and a whole lot of sexual tension that might just snap loose when they decide to spend some time together all on their own. (this is one of those canon-compliant AUs where you’re meant to ignore A LOT, but it’s still a good lil story with a lot of pining)

Maybe I Miss You series, by 13ways, 26k words (E).  Louis is on his way back to London after the Hits Live Birmingham concert. Harry is flying to New York for the Met Gala. They connect. (a newer series that does a good job of weaving in all kinds of real emotion for an ultimately happy ending)

Nothing You Can Do (But You Can Learn How to Be You in Time), by Teumessian, 28k words (E; needs ao3 account). Louis braids Harry’s hair. There are good times, bad times, fancy houses, supportive bandmates, secret boyfriends, small rebellions, bigger revolutions, some nail varnish, ribbons, cute clothing, and a Pinterest. (THE PINTEREST FIC!!!! and another admittedly canon-compliant semi-AU...but then again, most of them are, right?? idk, idk, i just know this one’s very visual and oh so soft)

Harry and Louis are exes with benefits until they're not, and the Mediterranean Sea might just be the perfect place to work through some unresolved issues. (this is actually a really funny one, in addition to being emotional and hot, plus I for one would take a One Direction cruise when they get back together in 15 years, sob)

the dark and the dentist, by sunshiner, 66.2k words (E). An account of the events of November 2014. (there are actually a few really big monster fics/series that cover this particular time, but I occasionally skim this one because I like the flashes of random domesticity)

To the Ends of the Earth, by stylinsoncity, 68.4k words (E). During a yearlong hiatus, Louis visits Harry at his cabin in Idaho, where long-buried feelings ignite like the fire keeping them warm. (THE IDAHO CABIN FIC!! And if you haven’t read it in a while, check out the new epilogue from earlier this year...or buy the whole thing on Amazon! Another great one that’s emotional, angsty, soft, and hot, all in one snowball)

Untangle Me, by suicxne, 100k words (E). The one where Harry and Louis finally get it right. (this is another one where you have to ignore A LOT, but it’s like reading a beautiful movie, jesus, I’m still so weak for this fic!! One of the first ones I read in this fandom, and I still randomly think of it every now and again)

What’s your favourite genre to write? i don’t really write a genre but i really love to write genre fiction. i love pulling from tropes and one of my fics is a noir au and i love it. tropes in fiction are really fun to use and also subvert idk its fresh its sexy. if fic is set in the same universe its still fun but being like “it’s a science fiction story now” im like hello. yes

2.) Do you pull inspiration from real-life, or do you pull things from other books/fanfiction you’ve read? i pull a lot of inspo from myself i feel, which is why i write for the fandoms that i do, becuase the characters i end up writing from the perspectives of tend to be ones that i relate to/project onto? so in that way i sometimes take my own thoughts and feelings and write them as the character. which is why my fics are really flowery and melodramatic but that’s just how it goes i think. i pull a lot of inspiration from music actually? i like the emotional beats from lyrics and such. when i’m writing i usually have a playlist for my main character, if not others at the very least. 

3.) Do you tend to write one-shots, short stories, or longer things? i have ideas towards longer things but multi-chapter fic is really exhausting to write so i’m trying to learn how to do something shorter. right now i’m working on a fic i’m hoping will be like 20-30k which isn’t like. short but it’s not a novel lmao

4.) Do you prefer to write description or dialogue? i love love love description i love thinking about things and especially like. nature and hands and expression and feelings and thinking about things and like, what scenery looks like and the slight twitch of someone’s lip and the cool graze of sweat on your forehead!! dialouge is fun but i sometimes struggle with voice and description comes a lot easier

5.) Favorite fic/book of all time? my favourite fic ? depends. uhhh for my hero it’s probably do what you will, if that’s what you want or come on play me something. not easily conquered and ESPECIALLY the thirteen letters is amazing. mdzs i’m obsessed with anything by etymologyplayground but my favourite of theirs is if you were made for me and then detention_notes’ series from season to season. for books i really liked the book theif, all the light we cannot see, the secret history, the imperial radch trilogy, but idk i’m not big into picking favourites of things. like these are all works i have read multiple times that i’ve enjoyed and that i can see from my bookshelf rn that im like “i liked this” but no book has been earth-shattering for me. 

6.) Favorite trope? Unrequited Love . that and slow burn mutual pining but especially one sided pining but oh my god when they are both in love but for reasons they can’t control they can’t be together....whatever that;s called i love it

7.) Are you the kind of person to work on more than one wip? ....yeah......i tried not to but i failed..........

8.) How long have you been writing for? i wrote my first fanfiction in uhhh summer of 2018? did not publish it anywhere. first published fic was december 2018. first time writing ever was when i was 6 so like 16 years  

9.) Do you tend to write more during the morning, afternoon, or evening? i pretty much exclusively write between the hours of 10pm-3am

10) Do you prefer to post and update your wip chapter by chapter, or do you prefer to wait until your wip is 100% finished before sharing it? im trying my best but chapter by chapter updates. i used to have a buffer now i don’t its been since december that ive updated or even wrote something for my main fic im a trash master

your crimes are quiet, my love by @lightwoodsmagic / lightswoodmagic (sarah_writes) (98k, E, Zayn/Liam, Harry/Louis, Big Bang fic, Miss Congeniality AU, but make it darker and more realistic, lolllll It’s still sooooo much fun though omggggg, MI5 Agents Liam and Zayn, Ziam are partners for work, pining, SO much pining, friends to lovers, oblivious boys seriously, Louis is the pageant trainer/consultant, Harry is Liam’s roommate for the pageant and a contestant, I cannot express to you how incredible this fic was and how much it sucks you in, the storyline was such an original and incredible and creepy yet really lovely take on the original story, i fucking loved it, oh there’s side Shiall too and I loved them even if they weren’t in it nearly so much as the rest!)

But I’m the Quarterback by @evilovesyou / 4ureyesonly28 (52k, E, Harry/Louis, Big Bang fic, But I’m the Cheerleader AU, quarterback Harry, Conversion Therapy Camp, Sexuality Crisis, Gay Awakening, Crisis of Faith, Self Harm, Listen, this fic is heavy at times, but for the most part it really is so lovely and gentle, The way Harry comes to learn about himself and accept himself, all with the wonderful people around him going through the same thing, AND LARRY AND LLOYD OMGGGG I LOVE THEM SO MUCHHHHH, anyway, i love this fic please give it a chance if you can handle the tags!, and MASSIVE shout out to the artist @whatagreatproblemtohave for the amazing art!)
