Thinking about how the Doctor didn't just lose Rose, he lost a literal part of himself. He literally left a part of himself (his hand) behind in Pete's World in the form of Metacrisis Doctor.

And the Metacrisis Doctor lost pretty much everything except Rose. He had to leave Donna and Martha and Jack and Mickey and the TARDIS and everything he had left of Gallifrey and his original world. He literally left himself behind when he stayed in Pete's world.

revisited the old "they descended from ancients + shadow was made by them" concept and put more thought into the markings this time, that and i took cues from their concept arts as a treat for myself. no chaos forms this time bc if this has to sit on my hard drive any longer im going to start running up the walls hee hoo
