A recent toxic trait I've discovered abt myself is I have decided that since my sister doesn't care abt oneus beyond "oh a kpop group I'm tangentially aware of" that means her pcs are up for grabs, esp when she pulls my bias, and since she doesn't take them out of the album she won't actually notice and I'll be in the clear 🤷🏼♀️

Build Up Ep 8 Recap Part 3: Waterfire's Drama
Welcome back to my increasingly unhinged recaps of MNET’s Build Up! In the previous one, we all got pregnant, whether we have uteruses or not! In this one, our ears will be both blessed and challenged. Let’s talk about it!
LTR: Hayoon, Sunyoul, Wumuti, and Suhwan
So, the team comes up on stage and Dahee asks leader Sunyoul about their name. Sunyoul explains that he and Hayoon are “like water” and Suhwan and Wumuti are “fiery” so their team tries anything, whether watery or fiery.
Backstage, Woong points out what every person in the room is thinking: “When water and fire mix, the fire dies!” In my opinion, they should have called themselves Steam, since that’s what is created when water and fire mix, and steam is powerful.
Wendy says she’s heard that the team had trouble choosing a song, and Suhwan says that since they were the leftovers they didn’t necessarily have a shared musical style. We’re reminded of how they were the ones left. Aww! It’s especially galling since they all have gotten great reviews and have won top tier and stuff like that.
I mean, I think I know why Hayoon and Wumuti were left for last. It’s just that neither of them really meets the Korean standards of male beauty. I’m not calling them ugly, but Hayoon looks like a real Korean person, like someone you’d actually see on the street, which is not what K-idols look like. And Wumuti -- please forgive me for saying this, but Wumuti’s face is sort of unusual looking. I think he’s had a bunch of fillers put in there and it just looks a little odd sometimes. I love his personality so, so, so much and I think he has a lovely singing voice. But yeah. Neither of them would qualify as a "visual" in a kpop group, to the best of my understanding.
As for Suhwan, he easily might have been picked earlier if things had played out differently, but also, I think he kind of lacks sex appeal. Maybe if he got a different haircut it would help.
But even though they were left for last, Wumuti’s optimism is unflagging. He’s like, great, they expect nothing from us -- but we’re going to do great anyway. That’s what I love about Wumuti! Remember back on Boys Planet when his whole team on Switch was pretty sure they’d get eliminated, but Wumuti kept working his hardest to get the performance ready? And then he cheered from the audience for the performance like he was their biggest fan? He’s such a sweetheart.
Back in Sunyoul’s Small Room of Serious Decisions, he tells his team, “Since we were the last ones left, let’s be the last ones left on Build Up as well!” Heck yeah!
If you don’t love Sunyoul, you’re wrong.
We skip ahead to something we haven’t seen thus far -- the round four interim inspection.
I love how they put a bunch of round folding tables in a high school gymnasium and had Baekho and Eunkwang just sit awkwardly to one side. That's that MNET budget showing again.
Team Waterfire is nervous to perform at this evaluation. They had a lot of trouble choosing a song and eventually decided to sing Drama by Aespa just as a placeholder, I think. They should have asked me! I have an Exo song for all occasions!
Ok, hear me out, hear me out:
I think they would have done great with Young by Baekhyun x Loco. Yes, it has a lot of rapping, but Hayoon is actually a fantastic rapper. And I can also imagine his vocal tone sounding really cool on the choruses. Plus, there’s also all those tight, crunchy harmonies on the bridge that would have made use of their skills. Not saying it would have won the night; just saying I would have enjoyed it a lot.
Alternatively, they could have done Blooming Day by EXO-CBX. All four of these guys are charming, and charm is what this song needs. They could have done the “can I be your boyfriend?” stuff with aplomb. They could worn jeans and soft looking t-shirts and looked like they smelled like clean laundry out of the drier. They could have offered Dahee flowers and pulled heart shaped confetti out of their pockets. They could have had some backup dancers, and done a little bit of choreo here and there. Tell me I’m wrong.
Or, or, if they really really wanted to do a girl group song, why not Wow Thing? Bright, cheerful, flirty, perfect. Hayoon could do most of the Soyeon parts, Wumuti could be Seulgi, Sunyoul could be Sin B, and Suhwan could be Chungha, more or less.
Drama is such a weird choice. It’s one of those weird Aespa songs that isn’t so much a “song” as it a series of noises accompanied by choreo. I’m not saying I don’t like it. In fact, it is on my “angry kpop” playlist that I listen to whenever I’m mad. I love the “trauma, I break trauma” bit. I love the idea of just embracing drama. Too often, girls’ and women’s issues are dismissed as just drama. We’re told to hold back under threat of being labeled "dramatic," and it’s like, no, you WILL listen to my concerns because I am NOT scared of that label.
But I might be putting more into the song than is really there. As it is, the lyrics barely make sense. There’s probably some Aespa/ Kwangya/ naevis lore that explains what the hell they’re talking about but I do not have the time to invest in that. Also, there isn’t really a tune? And it’s mostly rapped? And it keeps talking about "my girls in the back," which sounds weird when men say it...? I don’t know -- I could probably think of 50 other songs that would have been better than Drama. It feel like they wrote the names of 1000 kpop songs on pieces of paper and pulled one at random out of a hat.
Anyway, this is the world we live in -- the one where they’re singing Drama.
They sing for their fellow contestants at this midterm evaluation, and...
... Bain is all of us.
The reviews are poor -- Yeo One is like, yeah, my team could easily beat this. So they decide to turn things upside down.
s w e a t e r
To symbolize their intentions, they go to an action school and, I don't know, jump on trampolines.
A true feat of strength and agility!
They learn a lot and um, they become better... performers? question mark?
And that brings us to performance night!
Full version without reactions
My take:
I really respect the hard work, skill, talent, and time that went into this. Every note that was sung was perfect in terms of pitch and rhythm. All four of them sounded great.
But I didn't like it very much.
Did you watch Road to Kingdom? Pentagon did a weird cover of Follow by Monsta X. Hui did the remix himself and it was very dramatic. It also wasn't fun to listen to. The charm of the original song, and the tune, was surgically removed. The soundscape they made was impressive but it actually kind of hurt my ears at points.
I don't know where kpop groups got the idea that wearing military inspired outfits and singing harsh, discordant songs would be charming. I know a lot of them do it, but I wonder if fans actually *like* it?
For me, the part at the beginning where Suhwan and Wumuti are sort of "talking" to each other was incredibly cringey. Like I had to turn it off and try watching it later.
In fact, in general, Wumuti's spoken word rap style makes me want to evaporate. Sorry, friends.
The weird discordant harmonies hurt my ears sometimes, too.
On the positive end, all the singing was technically very good. Suhwan in particular stood out for me as having a strong, confident voice. Sunyoul sounded sweet and light. Hayoon added a bit of spice at times, and also demonstrated that he can clean his vocal tone when he wants to, which is a valuable skill. And Wumuti held things down as the ideal lead vocal. Their harmonies were on point -- they hit these little bursts of crunchy 3- and 4-part harmony that were truly impressive.
But like, why? Why do this? Why sing this song, and why sing it this way? Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.
I also have to comment on how awkard Suhwan is on stage. Even in the ending pose, when the other three look over their shoulders at the audience, Suhwan just sort of turns his head to the left and looks off into the distance.
I showed My Fella first the original version of the song and then this cover, and he said it was like a whole new song, and then added, kind of embarrassed, "But I mean, I didn't like it. I didn't like how it sounded. I felt like the original song had this "mean girls" energy to it, but this just sort of didn't make sense." He specifically picked out Suhwan and said, "This guy looked so awkward standing there, and then when he actually sang, I thought, oh, so that's why he's here." So some mixed feedback there. He and I don't always agree on stuff, but we sure as heck agreed here. (I don't tell him my opinion on stuff before I show it to him -- I like to hear what he thinks.)
For comparison's sake, here's Hayoon's ending pose:
It's actually really good. He manages to bring an almost sexy energy to it. Hayoon is an interesting guy -- the dichotomy between onstage and offstage Hayoon is so bizarre. But it's cool.
And Wumuti...
PLEASE STOP DOING WEIRD THINGS TO YOUR FACE LIKE PUTTING STICKERS ON YOUR NOSE and fillers in your cheeks and lips
The MNET edit emphasizes how amazed the judges are, and they have every right to be.
Eunkwang can't believe the harmonies.
We also see a lot of shots of the audience who look amazed. But like, are they amazed at how good it is, or are they amazed just at how different it is?
When the performance is over, the audience cheers loudly, the judges applaud (Jaehwan stands up) and the guys backstage say things like "This team did a good job" and "The vocal composition is well organized." But it's not like, "Wow, I loved that."
The judges vote, and we get the high score: a 95 from Jaehwan.
Honey-badger Jaehwan don't care.
Well, he's a judge. He gets to vote how he wants.
Dahee asks Jaehwan about his score, and he says that he thought it was pre-recorded vocals at first. That's fair -- their vocals were technically perfect. He also thinks they had good teamwork and harmony, which is also true. Unlike in Jay's team, where Jay stood out, there wasn't one person who stood out significantly more than the others. Jaehwan also compliments Suhwan's vocal fry, which makes everyone try their own.
There's also a lot of praise for Hayoon, who says "thank you." VCG repeats the way Hayoon says "thank you" in a high-pitched tone that verges on mocking, though I don't think that's how VCG meant it.
Ok, before I go on, I have to say that I'm absolutely bewildered at the judges' response to the performance, because I feel certain it can't be how most people honestly feel about listening to it. I have a theory, though, if you'll take a short walk with me.
I work as a tutor for people who have to take difficult tests. Something I've noticed is that certain types of high-scoring students sometimes talk themselves out of the right answer because it's "too obvious." The reason it seems obvious is that it's right and they're good at it, but the right answer is boring to them, and they can imagine a whole convoluted explanation for how the other answer would be right if you squint and look at it from across the street.
I kind of feel like that's what's happening to these judges. Their ears tell them "this is unpleasant to listen to" but their brain is bored by things that sound nice at this point, so they convince themselves that the obviously good performance is not as good, and that this highly technical display of vocal skill is preferable.
VCG says he gave them a high score because "I thought if you sang a ballad, you would kill it." See what I mean? He's grading not based on whether or not he actually enjoyed THIS performance that he just watched. He's grading based on some imaginary thing he's making up as he goes along.
I tell my students all the time: Just answer the question in front of you. I want to tell these judges: Just grade the performance you watched and listened to. Just that. Just. Do. That.
Anyway, that's about all we get for judges' feedback. No kind words for Sunyoul or Wumuti at all, which is a bummer.
So here's a nice picture of Sunyoul, whom I adore.
No mention of who specifically did the arrangement (I feel like it was Wumuti, don't you?). No comment on the song choice or the "girls in the back" or anything.
So, that brings us to the end of this recap! Sorry if this was your favorite performance of the night, but also, I'm glad that someone liked it, since I like these guys as humans and as performers and I know they must have worked so hard on it. I really wish I liked it.
I'll see you in the next one, when I cover Uptown Funk by a team with no name! Just no name at all.

Unlock my Boss / Unlock the CEO (2022-23)
I enjoyed this, though it's not really that deep. A well written corporate thriller with a bonkers premise — the "missing" CEO isn't just kidnapped, he's also trapped in a phone!
What Worked
What made this work is the characters. The protagonists were flawed and easy to relate to and cheer for. The villains were greedy, unscrupulous and believably bad. And for most of it, you didn't know who to trust, including the voice of the trapped CEO pulling the strings!
What Didn't Work
The plot was very convoluted at times and there were times when the obstacles being thrown at them don't make sense. Also, the way these obstacles got resolved seemed a little too convenient. I also got annoyed with some of the PPE, but that's how this goes sometimes.
The Performances
Chae Jong-hyeop as "the jobseeker" Park In-seong. This guy was fun to watch, and pretty much carried the show. It was great to watch someone who is completely out of their depth, but is fighting to stay positive throughout.
Seo Eun-soo as "the secretary" Jung Se-yeon. The character was meant to be a stoic (who eventually opens up when she meets the right people). Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between a stoic and an actor who is a little too wooden. Overall, I liked the portrayal and enjoyed cheering for Jung Se-yeon, but I didn't miss her much when she was off-screen.
Park Sung-woong as "trapped CEO" Kim Seon-joo. Lots of good voice acting, and you spend so much time thinking about this voice in the phone being the character that when you finally see the actor on screen, it's almost a shock. Overall a good performance.
Kim Sung-oh as "baby loanshark" Ma-pi. I liked what they did with this character overall, and the actor did a good job of playing the heavy.
Ki So-yu as "the adorable daughter" Kim Min-ah. Child actors are usually hit or miss in kdrama-land, but this was a noteworthy performance from someone so young. There were a number of times when she outacted the grownups.
Lee Sang-hee as "evil lady executive" Oh Mi-ran. I think the writers made her plotline and arc a little confusing, but I completely understood the motivations behind all of it, and the actor did a great job making the character believably bad.
Jung Dong-hwan as "evil old man executive" Oh Young-geun. I disliked this guy, even when he ended up being slightly less evil than the other executives. Kind of wished he'd gotten more comeuppance, but I guess that just means the actor did a great job.
The parents. It felt like these characters were off on their own planet at times. I liked the scenes with Park In-seong, but the rest of it was hit or miss for me.
The henchmen. The action scenes were good. The henchies were a little interchangeable at times, but the actors did a good job overall with making them punch-ably bad.
Everyone else. The best friend (Yoon Byung-hee as Jung Hyeon-ho) was fun to watch though like the parents he was kind of on his own planet. The other people were pretty forgettable.
TL; DR:
This was a fun show with good characters and some decent performances. If you're looking for something new, this is definitely worth a look.

Jimin replays that night in his head over and over again. Silk against silk. The pale flowers embroidered on Joon’s suit jacket. Green silk against the satin of his hands. He would have clung harder if he knew. Balled his hands into fists, grated against the lotus threads so hard they would have formed calluses on his palms, dug his nails into cold fabric until they left tiny snags.
But he didn’t know.
So their last night was the routine. Jimin had incense burning that time. It curled around the parlor, sweet little scent ghosts trailing in the unmoving air. Joon complained it made his head swarm. Made it too heavy on his broad shoulders. They discussed work. They touched and sighed. They parted ways. They’d meet again to finish the work. Each job had such a delicate plan. It had to be executed perfectly, that’s why they met to discuss beforehand.
Jimin was an actor and Joon was the director.
He had to play the part, twist and manipulate their victims into place. Sometimes they fell for sensual. Sometimes they wanted cute. Sometimes they just needed someone to ramble to.
If only he knew.
The bite of the handcuffs was sobering to say the least. Incense and silk, grandmother would have told him. She would have yelled until she lost her voice. This was inevitable, your stolen luxury could never last.
The charges were baffling.
Art theft. Fraud. Tax Evasion. Identity theft. Money Laundering.
Of course Joon’s list was longer. Or Jimin assumed anyway. They were pulled apart. Not in the same pod. Not in the same courtroom. Not in the same prison after sentencing. Maybe it was in case they filed a mistrial. Maybe they didn’t want them talking. Planning. Worming their way out of their sentences so they can continue to spin silk together. And of course it burns.
Jimin kept his hands smooth for him. Like clouds. Sanded and moisturized. There was a vanity drawer full of products somewhere. They used to be Jimin’s but god only knows where they ended up. Rose and lavender. Starseed and promise. More scents than he could count. One for every mood and every hair color he tried. Red and wish. Silver and citrus. Black and sandalwood. Yellow and kisses.
He would be luxury for his partner.
He missed him. He craved him. Every second. And he tried to connect. Maybe a phone call. Or at least a letter. From one prisoner to another. Different cells, different pods, different buildings, pulled apart by the blind hand of lady justice.
It had only been a few weeks since he arrived. The unanswered letters… maybe they just never made it. Maybe he should be more patient.
Or maybe he should just distract himself.
He had only really talked to his cellmate. He was cool. Icy. He played his solitaire, delt hands in the dayroom, shuffled and shuffled when he was bored. A gambler. His list of crimes was long, and he never disclosed them all. Jimin didn’t know how to navigate this new landscape, but one thing was clear to him judging by his cellmate's detached demeanor. You’re not here to make friends.
But Jimin needs a friend. What’s a distraction if there’s not a friend involved?
There are demons moving between these white walls swathed in orange. Jimin watched them carefully. Some of them do seem to crave companionship.
There’s the man that sits next to him in their art class. The class itself? Something about anger management. Venting emotions healthily without violence or addiction. Jimin would always eye the canvas next to his. Such a soft boy with a wide chest that reminded him of Joon. His voice was quiet, a sickly sweet whisper dripping wisteria and dreams. His words were bundled in brightly colored wax wrappers. He never fights. Never insults. Just exists. Compliments and small tokens of friendship.
But Jimin’s seen what his pens do. Broken bones and gore. Twisted animal fetuses and teeth that jump from the page. Nightmares and crows. Melting skin and demon’s with fox skulls. They’ve whispered about him in the pod. He’s cursed.
And then there’s the art teacher himself… there’s the prize. Pale with long fingers, black hair that falls into his eyes. He’s a healer. Jimin may still crave the silk clad man that handed him millions before setting fire to everything, but he can crave other things too. Distractions. Sweet thin boys that get tangled in the sheets.
But that was… ambitious. To seek someone not stuck behind painted metal like he was. And Joon was still so… fresh.
Incense and tattoo ink. Silk and lotus petals.
Art teacher Min would have to wait. Jimin needed an easier ride first. His blood obsessed peer would be easy, but to be frank he made Jimin nervous. There was something dead in his eyes.
But not everyone looking for a companion screams it. Attention seekers can be quiet. They can stick to floors and loiter in dark corners with hot tears in their eyes. Of course there were people like that here.
Joon always called him a whore. Jimin never really bothered to correct him as he wasn’t entirely wrong. Long term? Tied forever to one person? A ball and chain. That’s why he and Joon worked so well together. They would explore and come back together again. Billions of faces on the earth, what was stopping a person from sampling his fair share?
Jimin’s met all kinds of people in his line of work. In both the very legal tattoo parlor he ran and the very illegal side hustle he started with his long term booty call. But only meeting a person, only talking to them? Sometimes it's not enough flavor. Sex was a merging of souls. And now, it can serve as a distraction. A short term fling to pick up and drop. He could work his way through this prison until he had the gusto to challenge the art teacher with those long pale fingers that haunted the inside of his eyelids.
A whore and an attention seeker. That’s what Joon would say if he was here.
And of course there was a silent attention seeker.
Jimin was leaning in his doorway. It’s where he usually was, watching the commotion. Listening to the screaming.
The boy from his art class was with the smaller, meaner man he was always with. They were pouring over a thick book. His cellmate was dealing hands to a gaggle of men, as usual. The gentle CO was on duty. The one that was easy to bribe and would twist rules meant to be iron. Roses crawled up from under his collar. Jimin wondered if he knew the artists that colored him.
The attention seeker that refused to seek attention was alone. A wonderful distraction. Something to burn the silk he spent years spinning off his hands.
Jimin knew how to sway when he walked. He had an arsenal of smiles and he wore this one very carefully. Sultry. Venus.
There was a felt pen in his hand. He snagged it from the art room a few days ago. Min had seen. He didn’t raise a single finger to stop Jimin from carrying it back to the pod. He really just wanted it to draw. It’s not like he had foul intentions. At least not yet. Not like others around here.
Fallen Angel. Alexandre Cabanel. Oil on canvas.
That’s what Jimin thinks of when he looks into the eyes of his chosen toy. Those same, hateful, tear lined eyes. Mistrusting. Abused. His jaw locks when Jimin slinks closer, entire body tensing. He was running red beads through his fingers. Over and over again, a nervous reflex. Each one would quickly pop through his clenched knuckles in a way that was almost comical. There should be loud sound effects. Clack clack, pop pop, squelch squelch. Jimin didn’t realize the beads were a rosary until he was on top of the table looking down on the hunched figure in front of him.
Jimin cooed. A sweet sound. Venus draped in layers of pink satin. “So lonely over here…”
A quick study with an artist’s eye. Big nose. A diagonal line of moles on the right side of his face. A cupid’s bow that twitched beautifully as he reacted to Jimin’s words. Cat eyes. Furrowed brow. Bleach damaged hair.
Jimin wasn’t keen on waiting for the response. It wouldn’t be anything affirmative. He reached out instead, grabbing his right wrist, pulling it towards him. Extended arm, his limbs were long. He braced himself on the table, not fighting Jimin at all, but remaining tense. A tightly wound spring, he was preparing to react violently if he had to. A dog would growl. This man only glared with his sad eyes.
Prison issued clothes are short sleeved and thin. Jimin’s seen his fair share of supplemental clothing on commissary. His new toy had some. A white thermal. The sleeves were pulled low, down to his palms with the white collar rising higher on his throat than the issued orange one. Jimin pushed the sleeve up. Gold silk, he needed skin. The marker was balanced between his ring finger and pinky, and he hummed tilting his head. What would look good on this skin?
“I’ll ink you.”
Jimin turned his hand over exposing the hairless inside. This was where the line was drawn. His distraction grunted and tried to pull his arm away. Jimin may be small, but his strength is not to be contended with. He dug his fingernails into that honeyed skin and wrenched it back towards him.
“I said I’ll ink you.”
Distraction sucked air in heavily. “Not the inside.” His voice was nothing like Jimin expected. It was a lullaby, not nearly half as harsh as his eyes. As his permanently furrowed brows. Musical. Not too deep and not too high. The right amount of soft.
Jimin leaned closer to his face, plastering the sweetest smile he could on his face. “Why?”
The hand was flipped again. Another smaller tug of war. Toy didn’t seem to have the heart to win it. He could have pulled Jimin off the table if he really wanted to.
Jimin cooed again. “That’s not worth all that fuss is it?”
Scar tissue. That’s all it was. Pink parallel lines. Some fresher than others.
Distraction’s eye twitched, and he pulled his lips into a tight line. Disagreement.
Jimin ran his thumb over the raised skin, tracing at first, before drawing circles making a strange pattern of touch. Smooth rough. Flat raised. Honey crystals. Silk burlap.
The marker made a distinct pop when he freed it of its plastic cap. “You remind me of a mourning dove.” He needed a cover up. Doves would do it. Doves and flowers. Jimin concentrated on the black lines. The closeness of skin. The heat of art and breath.
Toy was silent for a long time, dark eyes following the lines forming over his self hatred. Jimin sensed it would take a long time to mold this toy into the distraction he needed. He wondered if it would be worth it, or if he should try for another boy. It’s not like there was a shortage of them here.
“I could make a gun,” Jimin said softly. “I could make this forever.”
“And mutilate the body God gave me?” The rosary was tightly clutched in his left hand. Gold satin staining white at his grip.
Jimin stifled a laugh. “More than you already have?” The scars were obvious.
Toy turned his head away, some distance spot on the concrete floor suddenly more interesting than the artwork blooming on his wrist. “Self flagellation,” he mumbled.
“Should I cover you in crosses, oh pious one?”
The head snapped back towards Jimin. Fire in the eyes of Lucifer. Jimin can’t help but smirk. He always enjoyed being annoying. Getting under the skin, but only a little. Not far enough to hurt, just enough for those dramatic head turns.
Distraction’s eyes traveled around Jimin’s face for awhile. Responses were weighed. The one that came was not as confrontational as Jimin expected.
“Why are you here?”
Jimin quirked an eyebrow, marker still poised above his skin. “For fun.”
Silence, and Jimin focused on his feathers again. They were furling. He would do an entire sleeve. Stay here with this man’s skin forever. He smelled like the same prison issued soap they all smell like. Jimin wondered what he would smell like naturally. In his environment, in his prime. A thick cologne? Incense and pews? A light floral scent?
“You have such nice skin…” Jimin mumbled.
“And I suppose you’ve seen a lot of skin, Michelangelo?”
Plush lips turned up in the corners. “I’ve always considered myself more of a Rembrandt. And yeah, I’ve seen a lot of skin. I could stand… to see more of yours?” He raised it as a question, eyes flicking upwards to read distraction’s face. The expression was the same one as before. Pained. Bored. Hateful. Jimin wondered if his face ever changed.
Toy’s tongue clicked against the roof of his mouth. A clear tsk. “And you haven’t even taken me out to dinner.”
Jimin feigned a gasp. “My dearest apologies, would the gentleman prefer the undercooked grits or the burnt tater tots tonight?”
Toy’s nose crinkled. Jimin reveled in the expression change. “Fair point.” He turned a little pensive, then, meeting Jimin’s eyes with more curiosity than animosity. Jimin let go of his hand. A drowsy mourning dove cradled in a wreath of roses and thorns. Distraction studied it for a minute, pursing his lips. He took a breath. “You can call me Donghyun.” He stood, and Jimin was pleased to note his height. “The extra skin can come later.”
He left Jimin with that invitation like a puff of fading incense, walking away studying his inked wrist. Jimin smirked to himself. Oh, he would be coming later all right. How could he deny such a golden invitation.

Yumi's Cells. 유미의 세포들. 7.7/10
I would recommend this webtoon to my friends. I wouldn't reread this webtoon.
Everything's drawn so cute. I love it. Woong is pretty cute as a cartoon. Aw at calling hunger cell a pig and he's like I'm not eating hmph ㅠㅠ Ohhh, Woong. Necklace birthday present, good job. I love how Babi was introduced. So cute at hunger writing a tube during the flood. I love the ear cells. I love the tongue cell showering with mint. Soonrok eating at home is sooooo cute. I did enjoy this webtoon. I really went through so much of life with this girl.
Ex-boyfriend Wook, boooo. We don't like Woong's man bun or his long hair. I do not approve of Babi ending up with Da Eun. Like, he basically left his previous girl for Yumi and then her for Da Eun. Like, I can't trust him??
Wow Babi asking out is bold.
Wait, lmaoo at the names 쿵식 and 쾅식. Lmao at the Hair cell's fav movie being Rapunzel. LOL at Woong's 섭섭 when Yumi is like you're not gone yet? Lol at Woong's purple beanie. It's so large but cute. Woong pulling out the big cup for Yumi's first time at his place for coffee is soooo cute and adorable. Lol at bear defense mode. Lmao at not knowing song lyrics so karaoke is just 대충. lol at Babi's sister being bani. Lmao at Yumi reading I Want to Die But I Want to Eat Tteokbokki
Omg at crying at the frog hoodie after breakup. Real. omygaah at Control Z's dog and Control B's cells. Nuuuu at overboard cell getting hit on the legs. omfg at showing that Soon Rok exercises. Hot.
Honestly, Seyi sucks. She's manipulative.

@thrillrs liked for something from Beatrice !
“You’re awful cheerful.” Beatrice remarks with a sigh, not even trying to hide her annoyance.
“Are you always this perky this early in the morning?” She asks Jung-Woong, groggily propping her head up with her hand. She didn’t get good sleep last night and her coffee sure wasn’t kicking in fast enough. “I keep telling you I’ll check back with them about job openings, but they aren’t getting back to me. I’m trying, okay?”
She knows how hard he’s been struggling to get a job, and she has to admit, he does have excellent credentials. Even if she had to pull a few strings, she’d try her best to get him in somewhere, even if it was something simple as a secretary.
“We’ll… we’ll get you something.”

hi, thank you for answering! (and sorry for accidentally spelling his name wrong, that’s literally so embarrassing but i was in a hurry😅)
i would like to just submit a regular request with ryung-gu where the reader is the childhood best friend of joon-woong but dies at the beginning of the show (she was murdered) but is reunited with him as she also joins ryeon’s team. secretly, she tries to find the guy who murdered her to get revenge.
she has a weird feeling around ryun-gu and also gets suspicious as he’s clearly avoiding her. after a while of working with them, she finds out that they were lovers in a past life, connected through the red thread of fate, before he died after what happened to his mother and leaving her alone in the process. as they try to find and stop the guy who killed the reader from killing other innocent people, she learns to forgive ryung-gu and they fall in love again.
you said u wanted it to be specific and i tried to come up with as much detail as i could; hope this isn’t too specific now. :)
This is gonna pull at my heartstrings while I write this....I hope you enjoy this request!!!~~~
Summary: Long ago, Ryung-gu and Y/n were 'star-crossed' lovers, separated by the chains of social status. Her being from a wealthy upper-class family with scholars and him, a genius born in the slums. On her way from a visit at her close friends home and to see her lover, Y/n is kidnapped and murdered, her body left splayed out in the cold. Four centuries later, Y/n is now an official reaper at Jumadeung and joins the Risk Management team. Tensions rise as she attempts to seek revenge on her killer and memories begin to pop up with each interaction she has with her team member, Ryung-gu.
Warnings: Angst, mentions of murder and kidnapping, friends-to-frenemies, fluff. Not proof-read.

Lover's Reunited (Ryung-gu x Reader)
Y/n's Pov
"Welcome to the team, Y/n. I hope you're ready for everything that comes your way." Ryeon said as I followed her into the Risk Management's Team Office. "I'm ready for anything." I answered. Once we entered the office, my eyes drifted across the room and connected to a pair of widened ones. " Ryung-gu, Jun-woong, this is L/n Y/n. She's now the newest member of the Risk Management Team. Ryung-gu, could you show here a quick little rundown of how we operate?"
Turning my head in the direction of her question, I made eye contact with the handsomest man ever. I waited a few seconds for his answer, but all he did was stare at me. "Is there, uh, something on my face?" I asked, starting to feel a bit awkward from his harsh stare. That seemed to snap him out of his daze. "Sorry, umm, let me give you a tour of our day-to-day agenda and how we keep track of our job." He stumbled, his cheeks gaining a light flush to them. "Great! I can't wait to start."

Ryung-gu's Pov
The day was going by slowly as I waited for my shift to come to an end. Jun-woong and I were currently finishing up our latest mission reports when Ryeon came walking in, except she wasn't alone. "Ryung-gu, Jun-woong, this is L/n Y/n. She's now the newest member of the Risk Management Team. Ryung-gu, could you show here a quick little rundown of how we operate?" She asked.
The question just went through one ear and out the other. 'It couldn't be her, could it?' I thought, my eyes widening in surprise as I got a look at the person behind Ryeon. It was Y/n. Standing right in front of me, it was her. It's been at least four centuries since I last saw her. But, she's here.
"Is there, uh, something on my face?" She asked, touching her face. Her voice sounded the exact same, but not trying to make her feel any more awkward, I answered. "Sorry, umm, let me give you a tour of our day-to-day agenda and how we keep track of our job." I mumbled, feeling my cheeks heat up a little. "Great! I can't wait to start." She chirped.

Y/n's Pov
It's been a little over 6 months since I joined the RM team. With each chance I got after every mission, I got closer and closer to finding out where and who my killer was. That was my sole purpose for joining this team. Only problem, Ryung-gu seems to be avoiding me ever since my first day on the job.
However, there was no time for worrying about it. "Hey, listen to me. I've been where you are. Feeling like you couldn't do anything to prevent him from his death? Feeling like it should've been you instead of him? It's natural for that to happen. It's why people call it grief. But, let me tell you, he wouldn't have wanted you to do this. He wants to believe that he'll see you again in the next life and the one after that. So, trust me when I say, it's going to get better. It's going to be like hell going through it, but it will get better. So, take my hand and I'll help you start the journey to healing." I spoke, reaching my hand out to the young girl in front of me.
"Do you really believe that? That we'll be together again?" The girl sobbed. "Yes, I do. Now, grab my hand." She hesitated for a bit, but she stepped down from the ledge and ran into my arms. Collapsing on the floor, I cradled her in my arms and let her cry until she calmed down.
"Thank you. I know that's probably weird to say after everything, but I really mean it." "There's no need to thank me, now let's get you home and out of this cold. "
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hey, Y/n, great work today. She seemed to really trust you." Jun-woong chimed, setting down a coffee right in front of me. "Thanks, you are a life-saver. But, it wasn't much. I just understood where she was coming from. When I was younger, I went through the same thing when my brother died in battle. The only person I could really trust after that was my best friend. But, I don't really remember much after my death so..."
We continued to chat until I noticed Ryung-gu walking into the room, looking troubled. "Ryung-gu, what's up? You seem worried." I asked. "It's nothing. The Director wants to see you. Something about your report." He answered. "Oh, okay....well, I guess I'll see you guys in a few."
Finishing up my coffee, I quickly made my way to the Director. On my way there, I bumped shoulders with someone. I turned to apologize but froze up. "Y-you...You!" I growled, my blood starting to boil. The man turned and I got a clear look at his face. It was the man that murdered me.
Letting out a scream, I ran and tackled him to the ground. The both of us grunted as we made contact to the ground. I began throwing punches left and right, each blow I let out a yell. What felt like hours was actually minutes. Soon enough, I felt arms wrap around me and Ryung-gu's voice flooding my ears. "Y/n, stop! He's not worth it!" "It is worth it! He killed me! He killed me and my brother!" I screamed, tears streaming down my cheeks.
Ryung-gu and Jun-woong, who showed up minutes later, pulled me off the guy who was smirking at me. "WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?" A booming voice echoed deep in the hall. Reapers on every side stood silent as the Director came closer to the scene. “Who escorted this criminal in this building?” “No one. I came here on my own…” He stated, a cold smirk still lying on his face. I struggled in Ryung-gu’s grasp, just wanting to land one, killing strike on this asshole.
“YOU LIAR! YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID TO ME! TO MY FAMILY!!!” “You deserved what came to you. Your father owed huge debts and when he couldn’t pay himself, I did it for him.” He chortled in a sarcastic tone. “After all, it ended well for you. You’re back with your lowly lover, Lim Ryung-gu, so you should be thanking me.”
‘What….?’ I thought, anger slowly turning into confusion. Apparently, that amused him. “Oh, she never told you? The Director here sealed off your memories with him with MY recommendation. My plan to get away with it would’ve gone smoothly if you hadn’t started meddling with him or his team.” He spoke. “Enough!” The Director hissed before turning to another reaper. “Call for the Escort team’s best reaper and have them escort this man to the punishment room. Mr.Lim, if you could bring Y/n to my chambers. I will explain everything in great detail very soon. Everyone else, please continue on with your previous duties. That is enough discord for today.” She ordered, shuffling down the corridor .
As she walked off, Ryung-gu brought me into her office as instructed. Once we reached the door, I stopped in my tracks. “Did you know…?” I whispered. “What?” “Did you know? About me losing my memories? About our past together?” I cried, whipping my head in his direction with tears beading in the corners of my eyes. Ryung-gu’s once stoic expression softened into one of guilt and embarrassment. “Yes, I did.” He answered. “How long did you know?” “Since your first day here. When I saw you enter the office, I was in disbelief. I tried convincing myself that it was someone that looked like you, but after every mission, the more I came to terms with the truth. That you were real. Everything was confirmed when the Director called me into her office. She told me the truth about how you died, how you murdered. It took a long time for you to be reincarnated as a reaper and for our ties to appear again. I’m sorry that I kept this from you, I just didn’t know how to tell you properly.”
Each word he spoke was genuine and I knew it was the truth. Turning around to face him, I placed a gentle hand on his cheek and softly caressed it. “I- I’m sorry it took so long to come back to you. I’m so, so sorry” I sobbed. Ryung-gu pulled into his warm embrace, stroking my head as my tears soaked into his clothes. We sat like this for what felt like ages before we separated.
“I see you both have resolved everything on your own.” The Director spoke, her presence becoming known as she entered the room. “This day was never supposed to work out this way, but fate can be wildly mysterious. So, tell me, what will you two do now?” We turned to look at each other before I answered. “I think…We’ll do what we’ve always done. And that’s to help the ones who need it and we’ll do it together.” “Together.”
Author’s Note: Here we are, Anon. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. Ryung-gu ended up being a teddy bear type of guy, but that’s how I see him. I’ve added in the small detail of Y/n having a brother and the relationship between them and Ryung-gu already established. If any one has any commission requests, I leave a link down below on how to request them. If you’d like to be added to the fandom taglist, leave a like and a comment. With that being said, Stay Classy~~
Infatuation
Summary: Yi-jin has no sense of personal space.
Author's note: So many cute moments today and I couldn't resist writing this fluffy sickening fic. I'm gonna enjoy the bliss they're in and ignore all the warning bells in my mind. Enjoy!
The worst part about having feelings is the constant awareness that comes with your realization of your feelings. Her mouth instinctively chews the warm tteokbokki but her sense of taste is overwhelmed by her sense of touch.
Somehow they'd all ended up in Yu-rim's family restaurant again, starving after another long day of school. She'd spent the majority of it sleeping on her desk and training with the other fencers. Ji-woong had been the one to mention getting food and almost simultaneously they all started naming what they wanted to eat.
Rice cake!
Noodles!
Steak!
Everyone had looked at her like she was insane. Whatever steak was delicious.
Ji-woong's eyes sparkled lovingly as he asked his girlfriend if should eat at her restaurant.
"Is it too soon to introduce myself as her future son-in law?"
Yu-rim had turned nearly purple at the teasing remark slapping him wildly as he chuckled and tried to hug her to stop the onslaught. They were disgustingly cute now, always looking starry eyed at each other and giggling at jokes that no one else understood.
Seung-wan had walked away ignoring their loving display, her nose in a book and her brows furrowed. Something about the history of corporal punishment in school. It looked difficult and her brain hurt just imagining reading something like that.
She'd tugged out her phone pushing in numbers that she knew by heart now. The call connected after two rings and she said, "We're getting good at Yu-rim's restaurant. Come with us."
"You know I'm not some kid who has free time to do as I please right?"
She rolled her eyes.
"You think I have a lot of free time? I'm an Olympic medalist you know."
He chuckled on the other end, deep voice somehow deeper through the phone. Calling him was always a risk.
"Getting cocky now? I should be honored that someone so important wants to see me. I'll come right over my Olympic gold medalist Na Hee-do."
Her heart skips a beats at the warmth and pride in his voice.
My Olympic gold medalist.
She's too flustered to respond but thankfully the group realizes who she's talking to and they all begin to shout messages into her phone.
"Sunbae please join us for a meal!"
"Hyung, you'll play right? We're just broke high schoolers!"
"Yi-jin oppa, mom says you haven't visited in a while!"
He doesn't put up a fight and she could barely contain her glee as he walked around the corner, messenger bag still slung across his wide shoulders.
He waved at them and she waved back, eyes locked on each other.
Yu-rim's mom was overjoyed to see them all, smiles and hugs thrown their way. It must have been nice to have a mom who was so expressive and free with her affections.
"Sit, sit." The older woman motioned at a table, already turning to go to the kitchen and get their food ready.
The table had six chairs and Yu-rim and Ji-woong immediately sat next to each other. Surprising to no one at all, shyly looking at each other as they tried not to sit too close. Leaving an empty seat next to Seung-wan and Yi-jin. It wasn't a hard decision but she questioned herself. Second guessing if it would send the wrong message.
I shouldn't sit next to him. We're not a couple like them, there's no reason to sit together. People might get the wrong idea too. Okay it's settled I'll sit next to Seung-wan.
Taking a deep breath in she moved to grab the seat, pulling it out. But almost immediately Yi-jin placed his bag on it, she looked down at him in surprise blinded by the huge smile on his face.
"I haven't seen you all day. Sit beside me."
Her mouth fell open in shock as he took her hand and guided her into the seat next to him, pulling the chair out for her then unfolding a napkin to place on her lap knowing how messily she ate.
She barely jumped as he slide an arm across the top of her chair. Easily invading her personal space and she felt her throat dry up as nerves swam through her veins.
"How was your day?"
She'd mumbled out something about doing nothing and training speaking barely above a whisper and then watched in fear as he leaned closer.
It was Yu-rim's mom bringing out the food that saved her from this seemingly innocuous moment that was causing her heart to pound and her cheeks to redden.
She'd looked up expecting everyone's gaze on them. Surely they would all think they were being too comfortable and ask them why they were sitting so close to each other.
But Seung-wan was eating with one hand and holding her book with the other. So she switched her gaze to the happy couple but they were firmly lost in each other's eyes. Ji-woong attempting to feed an embarrassed Yu-rim who kept sneaking glances at her mom obviously terrified that she would see and know that her daughter was dating.
Nobody seemed to care that Yi-jin was sitting so close to her that she could feel his skin against hers every time he leaned forward to eat.
She jolts at the feel of something against her face, turning to the man next to her in confusion.
"You eat like a little kid I swear. Look at me."
He takes her face in his large hand, cupping her cheek and guiding her to look at him before wiping at the side of her mouth. He's staring intently at her face as he cleans her and she feels like she's going to faint from the casual touch.
"There all done."
Then easy as day he goes back to eating, like he didn't just tilt her world off its axis.
She has no choice but to continue eating as well.
Nobody seems shocked when they're all saying good bye he tells her that he's walking her home and he throws an arm over her shoulder, telling her about his day and the trials and tribulations of a sports reporter.
She listens carefully hands itching to wrap around his waist but instead she glues them to her sides.
The next time she sees him, it's at the comic book store.
A new volume of Full House is out and she decides to read it right there on the floor legs criss crossed just like when she was younger. She's completely lost in the book- if only they could add this to the school curriculum she would be the top student easily- when a shadow hovers over her blocking out the bright sunlight streaming in from the window.
"What's that?" She speaks to herself, dog earring the book to look up and instant smile forming at the familiar face.
"A student should be studying on the weekend. What are you doing here?" He tuts at her, folding those impossibly long legs to sit beside her. He's not in a suit today, jeans and a white tee adorning his body instead.
He looks good. Comfortable and...more attainable.
His suits always make him look out of her grasp.
"I like you better this way. Without a suit." She says without thinking, he looks back confused at the sudden comment before grinning and looking down at himself.
"I think I look pretty handsome in a suit though."
"I didn't say you didn't. I just like this....better."
He hums beside her and she avoids looking at him, scared at what expression she'll find to her honest statement.
"Another volume came out?" He leans closer, encroaching on her space again and she thrusts the book of further to stop him from coming any closer. Her sanity can only take so much.
"Hmmm you enjoy it." He says easily pushing it back at her, before leaning back against the bookcase and letting out a sigh.
"You don't have work today? Or any plans." She questions, she's been thinking a lot about the women at his job and whether he sees anyone outside. Is he going on dates? Is he interested in anyone?
Having a crush is such hard work.
"No. I was walking aimlessly when I saw you through the window. It must be my lucky day to run into you on my day off."
"Are you happy to see me?"
"Of course. You're always entertaining. I was watching you outside and the range of expressions you showed on your face made me laugh so hard. You would be awful at poker Hee-do."
Always teasing her. It's basically his specialty. But she's happy to see him too, they haven't been able to meet since the time they all ate together. He's so busy now as a full fledged reporter and she's undeniably happy for him but there's a part of her that misses him having time to just hang out with her.
This must be what growing up is like.
She hates it.
With a sigh she tilts her head until it's resting on his arm. He stills beside her before his muscles relax and he snuggles closer, letting her rest easier against him.
"Are you okay Hee-do? Did something happen?" She knows that voice, it's the same one that he used when she got hurt recording the simultaneous touch and when he found her crying outside over chairs. That's his I'll fix everything, just tell me what's wrong voice.
But he can't fix this.
"Nothing happened. I just missed you this week, my days aren't as bright when I don't see you."
Ever since his confession on the bridge, they've both been speaking freely and saying what's on their minds. It's terrifying. Knowing that her feelings are returned.
"Well I'm here now. Smile for me?"
He puts two fingers in the edge of her lips and physically turns her frown upside down. She stares at him blankly before giggling at the absurdity and smacking his hands away.
"You can't just force me to smile like some doll!"
She shoves his hard and he falls over laughing loudly with her and in the end, they get kicked out of the store for being too loud and disturbing other patrons. That only makes them laugh harder. Laughter echoing down the street.
She's wearing a dress.
She hadn't planned on going to the dance at school but Yu-rim begged and pleaded and promised that she wouldn't be a third wheel all while Ji-woong hung off her and asked if they should wear matching outfits. She shook her head no in decline but the other fencer wouldn't take no for an answer.
"Please. I've never gone to a dance with a friend. I don't want everyone staring at me and Ji-woong all night."
And because she couldn't say no to her online best friend, she finally agreed. Already knowing she would regret it.
Her mom had suddenly thrust a bag into her hand a few days later and she wondered if her mother had listened to her conversation with Yu-rim on the phone.
"I don't even own a nice dress."
Without a word her mother had walked away and she went into her room to open the bag. She gasped at what she founded inside.
Could she really wear something pretty and feminine like this? She was the furthest thing from feminine and she wondered if she would look stupid in the dress, like a kid playing dress up.
But surely she could try it on. There was no harm in that. So standing to lock her door she strips off her uniform and pulls the dress on over her head, there's no mirror in her room so she can't see herself but as she looks down at herself she can't control her smile. Maybe she looked pretty. Maybe someone else would think she looked pretty too.
"Maybe I should wear a shirt underneath it."
A white shirt and white tennis shoes completed her outfit.
"Here use this bag. The dress suits you, you look like a young lady for once."
Ignoring the dig for her mother, she takes the pale blue shoulder bag she hands her. It matches her dress almost perfectly like it was meant to go together.
"Don't stay out too late. And if anyone tries anything you don't want kick them right in their-"
"Mom!" She screams embarrassed and shocked. Her mother has never given her a speech like this before. She won't admit it out loud but.... it's nice. Almost like her mother actually cares about her.
"I was only going to say penis. What's the big deal? You're almost 19. You know about genitalia."
She groans loudly, racing down the stairs to stuff her feet into her new shoes.
"Don't wait up for me. I won't be out late."
There's no response and she slams the door shut behind her. The warm summer air hits her and a gust of wind rustles the bottom of her dress, it's weird to feel wind on her legs they're so seldom exposed.
Checking that she has her keys she walks down the stairs with her head in her borrowed bag.
It's that distraction that causes her walk into a warm wall.
Jumping back she goes to apologize to whoever she just absently walked into.
"Baek Yi-jin? What are you doing here?"
He doesn't answer, looking at her slowly up and down. A smile spreading across his face before he looks back at her face.
"You look pretty."
Her heart jumps. She almost grabs it to calm it down.
"Thank you." She replies, bashfully looking at the ground.
"Yu-rim mentioned it to me. She told me that you all were going to the dance. I wanted to see you before you left, I've never seen you in a dress before."
She feels vulnerable, she hasn't worn a dress in a long time not since her father passed away.
The last time she wore a dress she was experiencing the worst heartbreak of her life.
"Do I look stupid? Does it look bad?" She shrinks in on herself, feeling self conscious and small.
His hand is large and warm on her jaw and he forces her to look up.
She stares back completely captivated as he shakes his head, "I already told you that you look beautiful. Don't worry about anyone else."
She wasn't. His opinion was the only one that mattered to her.
She smiles at him, feeling more confident in her skin. Maybe she didn't look half bad.
"Come on I'll walk you there."
And they walk in comfortable silence. Fingers grazing every few steps but neither brave enough to cross that line quite yet.
She almost pouts in disappointment when they finally reach the school, she wanted to spend more time with him.
"Well thank you for walking m-"
"Dance with me."
They talk at the same time and when she processes what he said she's still too confused to do anything but stare stupidly with her mouth open.
Then he's putting his hand out and smiling charmingly at her and almost like she's lost in a fog, she reaches out to place her hand in his. Perfect fit.
They stay like that for a moment, then he tugs her closer wrapping his hands loosely around her waist before starting to sway and she follows his movement allowing him to lead her. Faintly she can hear the music in the distance but he's moving them to his own pace, slowly spinning them around and around.
"I wanted to be your first dance tonight."
She tries not to think about why that was so important to him. What any of this means. Why he wants to be her first and why he's always touching her like she's his?
Wrapping her dangling arms around his waist she nods into his chest, body buzzing from their closeness.
"You'll probably be my only dance tonight."
"That's not true. I was a teenager once."
She nods even though she has no idea what that means. The other boys don't even see her as a girl, nobody will be asking to dance with her.
"Focus on your friends. Just dance with them instead."
She almost agrees before a thought pops in her mind, it's so ridiculous that she nearly brushes it away but the way he's behaving is..... strange.
So she decides to rest her theory.
"Okay I will. Ji-woong is a good dancer so I'll definitely dance with him."
His hand tightens on her waist. She almost jumps for joy.
"He's with Yu-rim. Don't get between them. Just dance with someone else."
"Then does that mean I shouldn't dance with Yu-rim? It's our first dance."
"No she's fine. You can dance with her."
Pushing him away she looks up giant knowing smile on her face, "Am I only allowed to dance with girls? Are you forbidding me from dancing with boys?"
She expects him to deny her claims or at least look away but he continues to stare at her, steadfast and unashamed.
"Are there any boys you want to dance with?" He searches her eyes and she looks away first because they both know the answer.
"Fine. You're right. For some reason I get possessive about you."
It's unbelievable but everything that she feels towards him, he feels it in return for her. She keeps forgetting that.
"Sometimes I feel the same way. There must be plenty of pretty women at your job."
"Are you admitting that you get jealous because of me Hee-doo?" He teases her and she doesn't back down stepping further into his space for once, "Am I the only one? What are you doing right now?"
He looks back at her in surprise before shaking his head.
She's won this round.
"It's because you make me crazy. Go inside and have fun."
They have been standing outside for a long time, other students walking around them and wondering who's the tall handsome guy with "who is that? Is that Na Hee-do in a dress?"
"Okay. Thank you for walking me and for being my first dance. Bye!"
She begrudgingly steps out of his hold already missing the warmth of his arms.
With a light wave, she turns to walk inside the school. Wanting nothing more than to run back into his arms.
"Na Hee-doo!"
She spins around at his shout, looking at him in question clutching her bag to stop herself from going to him.
Why is this so hard?
"You're gonna be the most beautiful girl in there."
"Even more than Yu-rim?"
A sense of deja vu washes over her.
Will he be able to choose between them this time? Will he say the words she wants to hear?
Yu-rim exudes feminity and grace, everything that she is severely lacking. It's childish of her to ask this she knows that.
But still.... She wants to know. Who is prettier in his eyes?
"Yes. Even more than her, Ji-woong can worry about her. I'll worry about you."
It sounds like another confession. And he's comparing them to a known couple. Which means that everything he's been doing was intentional and it wasn't all in her head.
Throwing caution to the wind, she finally listens to her heart and feels the wind through her hair as she runs towards him hugging him as soon as she reaches him. He immediately hugs her back and she giggles loudly as he lifts her off her feet.
It's ironic that while she's falling for him, he's always picking her up.
They hug each other for a long second, clinging to each other tightly. His scent washing over her.
The rest of the dance is fun. People she's never spoken to tell her how good she looks and Yu-rim starts screaming when she sees her, forcing her to spin around to show off her outfit. Ji-woong gives her a huge thumbs up and Seung-wan smiles brightly at her.
She declines every boy who asks her to dance, dancing with Seung-wan and Yu-rim when she can pry her away from her clingy boyfriend.
Then they all dance together, jumping up and down with their arms in the air.
She laughs freely and throws her body around, only one person on her mind.
The cold, hard truth is that disliking NJ and/or Yeonsu is just rooted in internalized misogyny.
I don't care what people say, or what they use to justify anything. The next episode previews don't give me enough to go off against NJ. I don't particularly dislike her character, or like her. But my reasoning comes from the sometimes push and pull behavior she has, and the assumption that she might mislead and lie to Yeonsu purely out of spite/jealously.
But her liking Woong, her trying to stay in his life. Her spending time with him. There's nothing wrong with that. She's a little off sometimes because it seems like he's her distraction, but wasn't he Yeonsu's too? And are all the characters in this show perfect for people to pick on NJ? The apathy for her storyline feels so cold hearted. Clearly Woong is a very well established artist, who is publicly famous and recognized for his works to be able to hold an exhibition attractive enough to catch a celebrity's attention. It is NOT that unbelievable that their paths crossed. And her storyline is an attempt to remind people of not doing what they're doing rn. For real, read stuff telling her to get over the negativity because its her job and. You guys. You saying this. You're precisely the problem the drama is highlighting.
If the main reason for your dislike for NJ is that she might have a shot with Woong (which she doesn't, not because she isn't someone worth it but because he's uninterested, she seems a p good match otherwise, if she works on the faults), and you have no problem feeling sad for Jiung. Then your dislike is rooted in misogyny. If NJ was a man, I'm sure at least more half the fandom would have no problem with the progression of the story.
thoughts on choi woong
ive been constantly wondering why i gravitate so much towards choi woong and i didnt think i could ever put it into words until i rewatched (multiple times) ep. 12. choi woong has such a radiance that pulls other characters to him. he becomes their home (in some way) and comfort. he is constantly making sure everyone is okay even if he is still hurting.
With Jiwoong
in ep. 12 it showed the difference between jiwoong and woong and how they deal with their abandonment issue. jiwoong has created a scenario in his head that is this pauper while woong is the prince and has been living with self pity. whereas woong chose a different lifestyle. i saw a lot of posts about how woong would share everything with jiwoong because woong never felt like those things were never his. however i dont think that. i think the reason woong is able to share everything is because he knows what it feels like to not have anything. woong was willing to take care of him when he was drunk and spewing nonsense and even when he was sick. if i was woong, i would have honestly cut connections with him A LONG TIME AGO. tbh watching the last couple episodes, i truly feel like woong likes jiwoong more than jiwoong likes woong. this isnt a bad thing but i dont think jiwoong thinks of woong as a friend as much as woong does.
With NJ
choi woong and NJ has a really interesting dynamic because NJ is really the outsider in the drama. she doesnt really have a connection until she meets choi woong. it was noted that she was a fan of him and as she became closer to him, she started this unrequited love (i wont call it a crush because this isnt a crush lol). it was also revealed how with choi woong, he became a comfort to her too. woong became NJ’s safe space. she was allowed to be whoever she wanted to be through woong. i think having someone like this makes such a difference in a person’s life. i absolutely love how she highlighted how shes enjoying the little things in life through this unrequited love considering how we all saw how lonely she was in the beginning.
With Yeonsoo
sooo much to say about these two people but something i really wanted to focus on was yeonsoo’s eyes. i dont know if you guys remember in the previous episodes, sol-yi talked about how yeonsoo’s eyes were soul-less and yet in ep. 12, there was soo much happiness in her eyes. i love two things= eyes and hands. i have always believed eyes are able to tell the full story when words aren’t available. and thats exactly what i saw in yeonsoo in ep. 12.
also, i wanted to point out how childlike she was. at a time when she had to grow up while everyone her age was doing things that fit their age, she met woong. through him, she was able to be the kid that she desperately needed to be. i absolutely love love the scene where she lays down on the ground with him. (i have posted about this before)it was mentioned how she hates people who do stupid things after getting drunk, but she immediately laid down next to him while she listened to him talk. the things people do for love, huh lol
i felt like rambled on but i have so much feelings about woong and his comforting ways.
Notes; happy belated birthday to one of my beautiful ult wreckers ❤️❤️❤️❤️
You was just getting out the bath when the door bell rang furiously, you shouted down the corridor as you wrapped the towel around your waist walking to the inpatient visiter.
You pulled the door ajar to tell them to do one when you found a larger man helping your older brother up. “I think this one belongs to you,” he said struggling under your alcohol induced sibling. Daehwi threw his weight against the door throwing you backwards on to your ass, your towel exposing you to them both.
“Ewww don’t be such a Ho, we got guests,” Daehwi slurred leaning himself towards the wall. His friend with his eyes shut offered his hands which you hastily took recovering yourself, your face bright red. “Can I open my eyes?” the friend said blushing a shade of pink and his member clearly twitching in his pants. “Erm yes,” you said hastily dashing from the room, “I’ll let you settle him,” you shot out behind you as you shoot back in your room, your heart thundering, your face burning and your mind imagining all the ways to kill your brother.
The next time you saw his friend again it was the following month, when your brother threw some money at you to go away for the evening. Annoyed at him for interrupting your early night and the whole naked incident. You folded your arm declaring that as your name was on the rental agreement you would be spending the night at home. After squabbling for a while you compromised, promising to spend the evening in your room.
Your cue to leave came from the door going, before you could shuffle from the room you was suddenly engulfed by some arms. “Where you going little sis,” Donghyun called out as Daehwi groaned at the view. “Yeah Y/N why you escaping so fast?” Woong asked coming up to you to fluff up your hair. “She’s got a date tonight,” Daehwi said prizing you from them both. You found yourself jolted into the very man you had exposed yourself to. Your jaw gaping open at his beautiful features as he blushed in your view. “Oh you haven’t met him have you, this is Woojin,” Woong said, “he’s new here,” he added patting Woojin’s back. “Oh they’ve met,” Daehwi Growled as you and Woojin winced.
“Right date night?” Daehwi moaned pushing you in the direction of the hallway. “My snacks,” you whined as he attempted to manhandle you out the room. “When you say date night you mean movie night don’t you?” Donghyun said chuckling as Daehwi walked to the Cupboard loading his arms with enough snacks to not see you till tomorrow. You nodded grinning, at Donghyun, “yep cute men all sexy,” you chuckled rubbing your hands down your body to Daehwi’s scoff. “What movie?” Woojin asked his voice so deep yet beautifully hitting that your thighs tightened. “Tidal Wave,” you smiled earning a smile back, “that’s a good movie that is,” Woojin said showing you his beautiful snaggle teeth that was just the cutest. “Since when was you into movies,” Donghyun said looking at him. “You just don’t look the movie type,” he added. “I love movies,” he said smiling.
“Well here’s your food, enjoy your night with your men, and romance,” Daehwi said rolling his eyes as he plonked the food in to your awaiting arms making you drop a few of the packets of goodies. “It’s a natural disaster movie not a romance,” Woojin said making Daehwi small his eyes in his direction. “Just saying,” he adds shrugging. “Hey I think we should all watch it,” Woong said smiling as Daehwi protested, the other’s agreeing louder that left him looking defeated.
As Woong & Donghyun stole some of the snacks from your grasp, Daehwi stood there arms folded looking displeased at you. “Don’t look at your sister like that, it’ll be a laugh,” Woong Scolded him noticing his expression. “I’m sure she wants a night alone,” Daehwi said hoping you’d get the hint. “Yeah he’s right,” “don’t you even think of it we’re your elders, both you sit your asses down let’s watch this,” Donghyun cut your protest off as he pattered the seat between him and Woojin.
As you sat next to them Woojin fidgeted in his chair next to you. You couldn’t help but noticed the size of his thick thighs in your view. The desire to feel the muscles underneath was highly enticing. Your thoughts was snatched by a cough, Daehwi’s eyes raised as he caught you checking his friend out. You bit your lip paying your attention back to the tv that Woong had taken charge to set up.
You offered Woojin the popcorn which he happily took resting between his legs as you continued to get engrossed in the movie. Your hands dipping into the packet freely which had caused him to stiff up at first before relaxing. You lolled your head over Donghyun, Daehwi’s eyes often finding yours to remind you that you was still in his bad books.
Your hand continued to slip into the popcorn having to move to reach deeper as the packet seemed empty. You furrowed your hand to find a piece of popcorn, when a soft moan audible to your ears hit. You realised your hand had brushed against his bulge which even behind the empty packet was hardening. Instead of an apology you raked your teeth along your bottom lip, you was sure Woojin could see the lust in your eyes as he blushed bright red.
You slipped your hand out the packet before you ended up doing something reckless taking your eyes back to the tv. Thankful that your brother hadn’t seen your little moment which you knew would fuel his anger furthermore.
By the time the movie ended you wiped a slight tear from your eyes when you noticed Woojin’s watery. Had he cried too? “You ok?” You whispered beneath The others chatting. “Yes it’s just,” “emotional right,” you finished for him. He nodded rubbing his eyes as you smiled at the pure cuteness of him. “Right what movies next?” Woong asked, Daehwi eyes widening to take yours. “Actually I’m feeling quite shattered so I’m off to bed,” you said faking a yawn. “Y/N it’s barely 9pm,” Donghyun scoffed, “I know but it’s been a long day, but thanks for watching the movie with me it was fun,” you said standing up to Donghyun’s pouts. “I’m sure we’re have a movie night again soon,” you said before excusing yourself.
You woke during the night, your throat dry and thirst attacked. Leaving your warm bed you made your way towards the kitchen to quench your thirst, letting the cold water make you feel satisfied. You was wiping your mouth when you was startled by the bathroom door opening.
Woojin walked into the living room, his boxers holding his dignity. But his chest so well defined heavenly in your view, you gulped heavily earning his furious blush. “How come your chest,” you said shaking your head “I mean how come your awake,” you added as he smiled at you. “Your cute Y/n, but I was having a pee,” he scoffs standing inches from you. “You?” He asks his deep voice memorising you that you almost forgot to breathe. “Thirsty,” you choked almost losing your words. “For what?” He said tilting his head, his eyes full of mischievous. “For water obviously,” you chuckled, your face feeling hot. “Not popcorn then,” he said winking, “or more what was behind it,” he said suggestively. Your heart was thundering he had been all shy earlier, now he seemed on fire ready to devour you.
“Maybe,” you teased winking, feeling brave under his intense glare. He pulled his arm around your waist pulling into him, your breath hitching when his was just a warm fanned breath away. His eyes glazed over as he leaned in pressing his lips to yours as you both got lost to his kiss. His tongue stroking against yours, hands brushed into your hair gently tugging them so his kiss could deepen. Your hands held on to the hem of your top before moving to his back sliding up his skin, the muscles tensing as it glided up them. His rolls of himself against your clothed core had him kissing down your moans.
You break your kiss to take him to your room. As soon as your through the door he lifts you up letting your legs hold around his waist, his kisses continuing as his hands find there way up your tank top laying around your bra clasps to unfasten them.
He rests you on your bed as you take your top off, his hands fumbling with his boxers letting his meaty member free earning a gasp fall from your lips. Hands sliding down your shorts taking the material and your pants with them, tongue stroking his lips at the sight of you. “I want you to sit on my face as you suck my dick,” he growls and you don’t hesitate to move to let him lay you on the bed.
Resting your heat against his awaiting tongue, it starts swirling around your sensitive bud. You lean onto him your breasts resting on his lower stomach as your hands grapple his member. Pumping it slowly you wonder how you would fit it in your mouth let alone your core. As his suction presses around your nub earning a moan to leave, had Him swat your ass. “Do you want your brother to catch us,” he says muffled from your heat as his tongue continues its attack. Your own tongue swirls around the tip of his head as you slowly bobbled up and down his shaft, letting your cheeks hollow to suck him well. His hands gripping around your ass pulling his head closer to bring his tongue to swirl against your walls. Your pace slows as you moan around his dick which has the same reaction for him. The vibration of his groans has your walls tighten around his wet muscle.
He starts buckling to push his member down your throat as you start gagging around him, you feel him beginning to shake when he rolls you off.
“I don’t want to come in your mouth,” he pants as you slide your body on top of him his hands cupping your breasts. “I love these there so squishy and perfect,” he compliments. You slid your ass into the air letting you slide your breasts down his chest towards his stomach, letting yourself dip so that your breast rubs down his throbbing shaft. You pressed your bosoms together letting them rub along him as you let your breast fuck them. His breath hitching as he struggled to hold his moans from slipping. “Y/n, baby, please,” he begs between pants. As you hasten your speed, his eyes close, head falling back on the pillow, his breath held.
He begins to lose his mind that he lifts you making you yelp from being startled before flipping you onto your back.
His eyes are Intense looking at you like a animal about to kill there prey.
Fingers slide up your folds as they slip into your heat curving as it helps to prep you. “Your so wet,” he growls popping another finger in. “Fuck Woojin,” you cry as they rub against your sweet spot.
He removed his fingers suckling on them as he places them into your open mouth to suck on. Sticking them to your back of your throat making you gag as spit from your mouth falls upon him, he mops it up to help lubricate himself.
Positioning himself into you as he slowly pushes in, cry’s leaving your lips as his hands rests upon your mouth to muffle the moans your struggling to hold in. After stilling to let you accommodate him, he lets his lips return to you as he takes a slow gentle pace.
The pain settles and the pleasure attacks, his speed being torturous as your pelvis meet his to encourage his speed. Instead he pulls out to slam in, his hands around your mouth awaiting the yelp to contain. He continues his slow pace with mixtures of harder thrust that has him bounce against your cervix, filling the air with muffled screams. His hands find your waist pulling you into his thrust that’s picked up a pace, moans freely flowing as he too is lost in the moment.
“Shit Y/N I’m going to cum,” he cry’s a louder volume, his heavy thrusts helping to attack your own. Your walls clench around him in between each thrust of your own meeting his. Sweat beading down his face as his teeth graze along his lips, this look with the one of concentration is enough to push you over the edge, your nails digging into his flesh as you scream cumming around him, pushing him into his own as you milk every drop of his hot seed into your core. His pace still hard but slow continues till he’s softened in you letting himself collapse on top of you.
Rolling himself off you pant heavily as he fights for air, pulling your head on top of his chest. “Fuck Y/N,” he gasps, his fingers threading through your hair. “That was good,” you said snuggling your head deep into his muscled chest. “It really was, it’ll be worth the beating your brother’s going to give me,” he chuckled pressing a kiss to your Temple. You fall asleep to him playing with your hair enjoying the close comfort.
Your woken to the screaming out your door when you jolt to find Woojin missing. Rushing to the corridor, you find Daehwi with woojin’s collar in his grip. “What the fuck she’s my sister Hyung,” he screams as you rush to defend him. His angry face finding yours. “And you, you have to have everything I have don’t you,” he growls. Woong rushing to prise Daehwi’s hands from Woojin as Donghyun steps between you and your sibling.
“I forbid you both to see each other,” he says as he storms off to his room as tears fill your eyes.
Turns out downgrading back to your old phone can free up some of your time, even if it is miserable in other ways. So I've been doing a lot of drama watching this week!
I finished Semantic Error today. It was a lovely little drama. I can't speak to the novel, but it kept as much of the manwha/webtoon's spirit as it could while taking out well, the mature themes. It's strange to think about how openly the manwha shows its characters' sexuality, yet someone chose to adapt it, knowing they'd have to completely leave out something that feels so central to the story? (Might be a common thing, it's rare for me to see an adaptation of a manwha I've read.) I'm very curious to know what the original novel's like.
I did like the colour palette, too. Just cause it matched the manwha, which actually looks so good.
I started Our Beloved Summer. Well, I'd already seen the first 10 minutes or so and put it on hold until now. I wasn't sure I'd like it. Yeon Soo starts off really mean. After 3 episodes, she's slowly growing on me. It's the repressed emotions for me!
Also there's lovely friendships in this one & Choi Woong's family's great and funny and treats Kim Ji Woong like one of their own. Not sure about the romance in the long term but I really like the humour.
(I just saw this if from a webtoon too.)
I'm also all caught up on A Business Proposal, through the magic of surfshark. Does it have a very basic plot? Yes. Is it a great drama anyway? Also yes. It's a talent to be able to put that many tropes into one show and pull it off.
I love the series of impossible coincidences, because the drama's self-aware. I love how he's incapable of recognizing her for no good reason. And above all, I love that the lies don't drag on for too long. This one's very funny too and the pacing is perfect for me.
(It's from a webnovel. What isn't an adaptation these days?)
Thirty-Nine is on my to-watch list, and I should start it soon now that I've figured out how to watch it. Depending on how I feel about it, I might prioritize this one cause I find it more enjoyable to follow along weekly and OBS is already finished.
PS: I haven't given up on Why Women Love. I've watched up to episode 19. It's actually better than I thought, romance-plot wise. I find everything about their business so bland and boring though.
Tomorrow. 내일. 7.7/10
I would not recommend this drama to my friends. I would rewatch this drama.
The second Lee Soo Hyuk walked into his first scene, we're all wet. I love that Kim Hee Sun is still relevant. Has been my whole life. She's still beautiful too. It was so much more pleasing to see Ryung Gu with all black hair. Rowoon is cute.
Omg Jung Jun Ha was a great cameo.
Rowoon's character really is so annoying. Like, he could die with the shit that he pulls. HIs situation is so tenuous, and he's not serious. But he's def a good foil and def adds in the love aspect that is needed. I can also see that he's growing.
This show is deep, and each case wraps up so well. It's so good to see a concept for atheist depressos who don't see the consequence of suicide besides peace. To imagine life continuing after death but not because of this common knowledge of a Christian/Catholic god. I love how real the show is. It brings in so many different viewpoints of suicidal people that I've witnessed irl. e.g. suicidal people are weak-willed and pathetic. Suicidal people are on their last leg in a society that doesn't care. Suicidal people are calling out for help. etc. etc. Everyone really thinks about it differently and also combats it differently. Suicidal people also need different forms of help. I love how women issues are brought in, especially through Kim Hee Sun. The passing of Young Chun was so sad and respectful. I love that in the afterlife, we still have Korean pride.
Koo Ryeon is so me. She's like a tangle of morality and logic. Koo Ryeon with that bow and arrow is all types of baddassery.
Na Young is really a different type of forward.
Inconsistencies: Jun Woong's old man face is not always seen by others aka I don't think Young Chun saw it, Jun Woong's family image couldn't have happened even without the dad anyway with the storyline like that.
With the Ye Na case, it was the first one where it cleaned up too neatly. Eating disorders aren't that clean-cut to resolve. The sexual assault one also relieved them of their pain too easily.
That bitch lady pushing down Lim Yu Hwa got me heated. The Japanese comfort women situation got me feeling a deeper upset than heated. The carving or branding on the body got me fucked up.
This world has the comforting thought of knowing that shitty people will get their dues in the afterlife.
Memorable Quotes: "그 한마디 조차 듣기힘든 각박한 세상 아니겠어." "이게 뭐가 더러워요? 이거보다 더러운 인간들이 얼마나 많은데." "참 정직한 생명체야. 원인에 따라 이렇게 결과가 만들어지니까." "겨울뿐인 그들의 삶은 따뜻한 햇살이 되길 바랄뿐이다." "어느 순간부터 오늘과 다른 내일을 꿈꾸게 되는 군요." "꿩을 잡으나 사슴을 잡으나 이 많은 분들의 경륜이 있어서 아니겠나 말입니다."
TV Recommendation: Tomorrow
Choi Jun-Woong has spent his young life working his ass off in the hopes of landing a solid job in an unbearably competitive job market. He has collected endless certificates, learned endless bonus talents, and worked hard through dozens- if not hundreds- of interviews.
And not once has he succeeded.
But Jun-Woong is naturally an optimistic person, or at least he won’t let defeat pile up on top of him.
One night, Jun-Woong is walking across a bridge when he spots a homeless man trying to kill himself. Jun-Woong tries to save the man, and crosses paths with a mysterious woman with pink hair.
She is brash, telling the man to just kill himself if he wants to die so badly. Horrified, Jun-Woong grabs onto the man as he’s about to jump and is pulled over the edge.
He wakes in the hospital... but when he turns around, his body is laying there in the bed.
Jun-Woong is in a coma- one that is destined to last for three long years. When the mysterious woman from the bridge, Koo Ryeon appears, Jun-Woong begs her to save him so he can take care of his grief-stricken mother.
Koo Ryeon takes Jun-Woong to the Jade Emperor themself, who offers him a deal.
If he works for the afterlife for a period of six months- in the capacity of his choosing- Jun-Woong can wake up from his coma early.
Eventually, Jun-Woong joins Koo Ryeon’s unit, the Risk Management Team. Their job- along with super-reaper Lim Ryung-Gu- is to track down people at a high risk for suicide and find a way to save their lives.
Koo Ryeon has always had a rough touch, having been pulled out of hell to become a Reaper herself. But Choi Jun-Woong’s light, kindness, and sensitivity to the pain of others helps him show her a new way to approach the job. A way that honors the pain of those attempting suicide, and to help them find a way to keep walking in the world.
The team must work together to stand against the uncompromising and cruel Park Joong-Gil, a reaper who wants nothing more than to see their team fail, as he does not believe in redemption for those who take their own lives.
** TW: This show obviously deals EXTENSIVELY with suicide and mental health issues. Do not watch if you have trouble with those themes. If you need any help, click here for a directory of counseling hotlines per country.
Please can you do a yoongi family Drabble please
🌸 anon
Absolutely!! I’ll use the more recent family of his. In that family, he has two boys and two girls. Their names are Cho-Hee, Ga Eun, Hae-il, and Jae-woong
——————
“Come on, guys,” I hum lightly, keeping an eye on all four of my little ones. Hae-il and Jae-woong are in their stroller while Cho-Hee and Ga Eun walk along beside us. A single mother with four kids must be quite the sight. “Look, mom!” Cho-Hee squeals happily. She points up at the sign over the stadium. BTS’s huge faces stare down at us all. I smile softly up at my husband’s handsome profile.
“Well, if you hurry up, you can see them in real-life, not just on a billboard,” I giggle lightly. Cho-Hee perks up and we all start walking towards the stadium doors.
It takes a while, but we’re able to get through security and make our way to the dressing room doors. Though, I will admit, it does take a call to some of the members to convince the security that I’m really telling the truth and we *are* Yoongi’s actual family.
Finally, I herd the kids into the dressing room. I park the stroller outside the door and grab Hae-il and Jae-woong out of their seats. “Daddy!” Ga Eun squeals, running inside. She tackles Yoongi’s legs and he startles, nearly toppling over. But, his shock is immediately replaced with happiness.
“Hey, baby,” he smiles widely, leaning down and pulling Ga Eun into his arms.
Standing in the doorway, I just watch my husband and his members interact with our girls. God, I love him so much
