Also I used some screenshots here... Guess who wanted to watch the Malus teaser trailers Behind The Scenes and got soft in the first minutes? Exactly me. The one and only. Because he was in whiiiiiiiiiiite 😩

Probably the biggest difficulty was finding good selfies for him and making sure the collage wasn't a complete mess. Maybe next time I should just use my favourite mirror selfies from him and that's it. Hoping that there's no flash...

Ok, enough rambling, have the letter now.

Ok, I'll start with a very stupid fact today. Keonhee wasn't my first bias.

Now that you recovered from the shook, I can start my personal story with him...which is complicated. But, I mean, all the love stories are a little complicated and their beggings are probably one of those "complicated" events. I remember that, when I was watching Oneus' group pictures, trying to remember who was who and if I remembered each name correctly, Keonhee was one of the members who immediately caught my attention all the time. Probably it was thanks to the fact that he was always the one who took the selfie and because his face was immediately recognizable. The crush didn't happened tho, I needed to get to know the members better, I had only one bias at the time and I needed to recognize his voice into Oneus' songs, which is very important. Still, that little sign of him being so recognizable probably was the first step for me.

On the other hand, the next sign who started the crush happened last year, when the Reach For Us Tour started and the behind-the-scenes pics dropped. And I saw him holding a bunny. I don't know what happened then, but seeing Keonhee carrying the bunny that way made my heart flutter for the first time. The way he looked at him, carrying him like a little baby and making sure that he wouldn't get hurt made my heart bouncing. Call me crazy, tell me that I was overanalyzing a bunch of pictures if you want, but what I saw at that moment was a man who would have cared even for the most little living things.

I felt the urge to know much more about him, I wanted to search if my instinct was wrong or not. Craving all the kind of content I could see of him. At the end I can say that I was, uhm, right? Keonhee is a caring person, one of the most caring I saw since I started to listen to k-pop. Probably it's thanks to his extrovert nature that I noticed it immediately or because he is a big brother who took care of his sisters when they were little but still, when I saw my instinct being proven right, my little crush started developing much more. My heart melted every time I saw him hugging Hwanwoong out of a sudden or when he made those little caring gestures towards Dongju or...well, the entire first Rest House Episode, where he decided to cook for everyone. I think that episode shows perfectly his caring nature (and also his cooking skills, the man knows how to cook and will not burn the kitchen thisishusbandmaterial). While I was doing this diving, I discovered some other traits which made me falling even more in love with him. I can easily mention his love for food for example. Must admit, watching mukbang videos isn't something that I always do, it's a video type that doesn't appeal to me at all, but for Keonhee I did an exception. I really was that curious about him. The result is that now I can't watch mukbang videos or I'll get hungry. But it was worth it. Seeing him stuffing his mouth with food, making his cheeks so full, round and squishable, his eyes becoming all sparkly when he enjoys the food, the little noises and movements he makes when he likes it, turning into a little kid in the process...I guess that's why I love him so much. Because he shows these little sides without any problems.

Maybe it's thanks to his extrovert nature which makes him so "confident" about showing these sides, but I'll always be thankful for him showing those without any problems whatsoever. Now, I'll be very repetitive and probably I'll bore you too much of I'll start describing every time he had those funny and iconic moments during Oneus' career like his Halloween costumes (especially two in particular, you know what I'm talking about...) or the fact that he's so scared of everything that even the smallest sounds or the most innocent animal can make him jump of fear (I'm still not getting over the fact that he's scared of pigeons like WHY? WHY THE PIGEONS?!😭) or... Or the fact that he just shows his emotions so easily, which makes me resonate with him even more.

During these months I even started watching all the lives he made, which is something that I don't do like, never, because I'm lazy foremost. But with him I made another exception. When I have time, I just search an old live of him and starting it. I don't need to search the translations or subs. I just want to listen to him talking. Maybe I fell in love with his lisp...I don't know if I should called it love or not but everytime I recognised it my face makes a stupid, big smile and I can't stop doing it. Not to mention that I love his laugh. Both the loud one and the "normal" one, you know, the deep soothing laugh, which is immediately followed by his wide smile. Probably the only problem his lives caused to me is that now I'm afraid of couches 🤣 Because every time he's on the couch, all alone, he starts making his certified poses™...I will not go any further, I'll just say that I love those poses.

And now I'm here, with my heart being fluttered every time I have the occasion to see him, whether it's a performance, a vlog, a live or just a post of him on Insta. Everytime I see him, I smile, laugh, sometimes losing my mind too because he makes, unintentionally or not, some posts which just drive me insane. I dreamt about him sometimes, wrote my thoughts about him and even talked about him too much here. But every time I do this, I always feel better, much more happy much more...free too? I supress too many times my feelings for my faves but Keonhee is the exception. I don't know, I always have the sensation that I can say even the most stupid feeling about him and he would, like, understand? Do I exaggerate if I say that he's my safe space? Or the big blanket which protects you during the night, the blanket you want to hold and wrap around you even more tightly when you feel a little cold or you're just seeking more protection? Keonhee is like that for me. I can't have a different image of him, I just can't.

My dear Keonhee, you don't have any idea how much I love you. I'm sorry I can't always show my love for you all the time and in the best ways possible, I'm sorry I couldn't protect you and the rest of Oneus enough last year. I promise that this year and in the next ones I'll make sure to love you and protect you in all the ways I can. And I already did it somehow. I listened to Pygmalion a lot last month and so I did this month. I can't stop listening to it. I can't stop listening to your voice, I can't stop thinking about you and how this new path is so bright for you and Oneus. If you're wondering, yes, I want to stay with you until the end. We're kilometres apart but I assure that my love for you is strong and I'm sure that you feel it in a way or another.

Hope you'll celebrate this day happily with the members and your family. ToMoons have surely made wonderful gifts for you, treasure all of them dearly. I was almost forgetting my birthday wish for you but it's honestly a pretty simple one: be happy today and for the rest of the year and the next ones they'll come.

the oneus church discourse on twt is kinda silly because oneus was already 1) playing with religious references since early into their career (eden and serpent/forbidden fruit in malus, imagery like using the monstrance and crown of thorns in lived); 2) they always do dance covers based on movies and this one could have been based on the plethora of exorcism movies out there. the outfits and location were not just there for props or aesthetics. there is a whole storyline to the video where hwanwoong (the story's devil) disguises as someone who wants to confess and leedo and seoho (the priests) try to exorcise him but are instead themselves corrupted later on. and finally, the location is either a set for film purposes (not an actual church) or an actual church but the filmmakers had to pay and get permission to use the location.

I think it is understandable if some people find it uncomfortable, but different diocese and branches of religion apply different levels of strictness to their religion, which is why you'll see that some catholics are offended and some are not. it's worth thinking about if one's personal discomfort towards an action automatically means that said action is severely blasphemous, because personal comfort level does not always reflect that of the church or the institution.

finally, christianity and catholicism is a thorny topic because yes they are religions, but their institutions are also privileged with political power despite such power being founded more on history than actual divine right (especially in a world that promotes separation of church and state in politics), and they are also topics that are seen and treated as permissible backdrops in pop culture as mythology (see: any drama or fantasy or horror movie set in a church or use biblical references, JRPGs, etc). these three spheres are related but are more like three separate circles in a venn diagram that only occasionally touch each other. "catholicism" and "chirstianity" are privileged to operate in many spheres outside of just religion, and so they have, for hundreds if not thousands of years, existed in contexts outside of religion.
