𝗔 𝗦𝗠𝗔𝗟𝗟 smile escapes his lips when he observes Ryung-gu distracted while watching the snow falling on another afternoon that ended early due to the cold weather. You take a step forward when you hear the friendly attendant calling out your password.
"Good afternoon! An Americano with lots of ice and a cappuccino, please." You smile simplistically and he then leaves to get the order.
After picking it up, you walk up to your boyfriend who welcomes you with a warm smile reserved just for you. Sitting down next to him, you watch him take the Americano with a cute, funny expression in approval of the taste.
"Honestly, I'm not a fan of that kind of coffee, but every time I see you drinking it, it feels like the tastiest thing in the world.." at his sudden remark they both burst out laughing.
"I think it's because everything is better when I'm with you." He holds your hand, looking into your eyes in contemplation. Despite his playful tone, you could feel the affection in his words. There was a momentary silence, where only the smile on their faces was present, along with the feeling of the affection he distributed in her hand.
"I missed you...so much." You break the silence, pensive.
"I know you're busy with your work in division, and I honestly feel bad for being kind of selfish for wanting you all to myself. But then I remember you're helping save lives and everything gets better." Your eyes meet his and it's only then you realize you've been wandering this whole time. Her hands quickly land over her mouth in embarrassment, her eyes widen.
"I'm sorry, I'm-I-"
"No! It's okay" he cuts you off. "Thanks. In truth. Actually, I didn't know I thought that way. To be honest, these days it's really hard on the divide but - that's really no reason to forget about you. When you miss me, you can call me without hesitation. I love you dear. You are and always will be my priority." After everything he said, you couldn't help but get emotional. Taking advantage of your position beside him, you hug him tight, surprising him by the sudden act. It doesn't take long for him to reciprocate, wrapping you gently in his arms, as if you were so fragile to the point of breaking.
You knew he loved you, you knew he cared and worried about you a lot. You were aware that he is very busy and admired him even more to see the effort he makes to be with you.
"Thank you, Gunnie. You are the best boyfriend I could ever have." Cupping his jaw in your hands, you take him by surprise when you bring your lips together in a quick peck - being in a public environment. "I think we should spend more afternoons together like this."
"Can I say the same, dear."

hold you
Tumblr media
pairing: lim ryunggu x reader
warnings: mentions of child abuse, alcoholic
summary: ryung-gu, who thought he couldn't love anyone other than his mother, started to fall for you. new to this feeling, he doesn't know what to do. he feels even worse when he sees you in pain, but can't get close to you.
ryung-gu, would only express emotions when it comes to his mother. their fates being severed, it pains him more than anything to know that they will never reunite, not in any lifetime. his team leader, ryeon, was quite like him. they both don't intervene in each other's business, but are there for each other. that was until you came along. you were a curious little being. having newly joined the risk management team, you wanted to get to know them both. you were known in jumadeung for being a good listener and an empathetic.
at first he was put off by you, because he felt the barrier he's built crumble bit by bit, and he was unable to stop it. your warmth spread through him like a tight embrace, and he couldn't help but soften up to you. well, internally he has. he's still the nitpicking colleague to you. he enjoyed getting you frustrated and always finding comebacks to his remarks. deep down, he wondered what your story was. he knew life isn't fair to anyone, and he wanted to know your story and how you came to be a reaper.
today was just like any other day in the rm office. you had a case to handle, a life to save. except this time it was different for you. kim hara, 15 years old. a teenager facing constant physical and emotional abuse at home. you froze as mr. lim's explains the situation. flashbacks hit you, but you shake your head in attempt to shake the memories away. ryeon and ryung-gu look at you, puzzled at your action. "a-ah...i couldn't sleep well last night, so i'm trying to shake the sleep away" you laugh. "well today's case is sensitive, and needs to be handled with care. kids these days are quick to action, so we must hurry" ryeon states as she gathers her things. ryung-gu looks at you for a while longer, but then also gets ready to leave.
just as you reach the doorstep of the house, you hear screams and beatings on the other side. your clench your fists, your chest tightening. you knew this day would come. but you didn't know it would be this soon. tears started to form in your eyes, but you didn't let them fall. "hey...are you..okay?" you look at the owner of the voice. it was ryung-gu. and he was looking at you worried...?? "i'm fine" you force a smile. just as you walk to ring the bell, a hand holds your arm. "you don't look fine. it's better if you tell us what's wrong now, so that we know how to handle the situation" he insists. you look at the both of them, you're not ready to talk about it yet. and why should you ?? "i think you've forgotten, mr. lim, but you were the ones to insist on privacy, you can't take that back now." you shake your arm away from his grip, and ring the bell.
he was worried. he's never seen you this way. but he concluded that he will leave it until after they finish. a woman slightly opens the door, but opens it big enough for you to see the menace in her eyes. "who are you?" she spoke drunkenly. you could smell her stinky breath miles away. "we're here for the bathroom fix." you replied dryly. "and it requires three dull looking people??" that's it. she gave you the chance to punch her- but you held back. "we're the only ones available and if we leave now you may not get help until three months later. "yes yes...just be quick. i've got business to take care of." "like beating your child to death?" you mumbled under your breath.
as you entered the house, you were all scanning the house for the sight of the injured teen. but she was nowhere to be found. "we've been told it was your daughter who accidentally broke the pipe connecting to the sink...but the house seems to empty" ryeon tries to provoke her. "I don't remember saying all of this? are you stalking me?" she questioned as she stumbled on the carpet. "you're drunk right now, so you probably can't remember" ryeon gave you a look that you immediately understood. she was distracting her. taking the hint, you slowly moved into the bedrooms to look for hara. ryung-gu soon followed after. opening the closet, you see her holding her knees close to her, visibly shaking. you felt your heart being torn.
she looked up, fear visible in her eyes. "hey, it's okay. im here to help you." you gently speak to her. "i know you're beyond exhausted, and every single part of your body hurts, but can you stand one more time so that we leave this scary place?" you extended your hands to her. she hesitated. she stared at your hand for so long, and you knew what was going on in her head. how could you not? you know how it feels too well...just as she finally gathered the strength to hold your hand, an angry figure busted through the bedroom door. "what in the hell do you think you're doing??!! she's my child. she's mine. she will never go anywhere, because she belongs with me, and i will die without her" the drunken beast was screaming.
ryung-gu looked at you as you both realized that ryeon is not next to her, your eyes conveying visible worry. "ryung-gu, you have to check up on ryeon !! you never know what this crazy woman has done!" you frantically told him "are you crazy?? and leave you alone with this monster?? not happening!" he screamed back. "lim ryung-gu." he froze. you only called him by his full name when it's serious. he looked at you. "go. i've got this. i can handle this." you spoke with all the courage you have tried to gather in you. he heaved a loud sigh, he knew he couldn't change your mind now. he should make it quick.
in a blink of an eye, he was gone. and you were left alone in that room, with your greatest pain and fear...your mother.
a/n: this will be a 2 part series, and this was part 1. all the characters are not mine, they are from the ongoing k-drama: tomorrow.

I shake my leg frantically while gazing at the vast view outside the window. I felt a bit nervous, but I was more fearless than anything else. My eyes remain fixed on the door of the large, modern office when I hear someone enter.
I watch as my mother walks in with her usual sweet smile on her lips. She hands me the small box of flavored milk, gently ruffles my hair, and sits at her main desk. She observes me patiently as I approach her.
"What brings you here again, dear?"
"You know very well what I want."
A nearly bored sigh escapes her lips. She momentarily stops writing the paperwork, putting the pen down to give me her full attention.
"We've already talked about this—"
"Okay, Mom! I know, but please, hear me out this time."
I pause for a few seconds, waiting for her reaction. When I notice she's listening, I continue.
"I've already helped many new recruits from various divisions here at Jumadeung. Now, I want to help more grim reapers, but in the field. I want to help save souls, Mom."
I plead, feeling too tired to argue. For the past few months, I've been feeling somewhat useless at Jumadeung. People have always seen me as "the director's daughter," and that has always bothered me. I wanted them to see me as someone who worked hard to get where I am, someone who contributes to the greater good through capability and teamwork.
That's why, for months, I observed all of Jumadeung's teams and divisions and realized that one needed help more than the others. The suicide prevention division lacked new recruits, people willing to go out into the field to help those in need.
However, due to all the prejudice against the team's only members, no one wanted to join something like that. But not me. Since the team was established, I've admired them, even if I never had the chance to express it.
Now, I feel I owe it to the company and to all those who need my help, regardless of external criticism.
"My daughter, I've already explained this to you. The suicide prevention team is no easy task. Aside from being a time-consuming and specialized job, I don't want you to feel frustrated by all the criticism, even though I don't give credit to baseless words."
"I don't care about them. I don't care about criticism, Mom. I can handle it, I promise. If I can't, I give you my word you'll never have to let me into the field again."
She seems to consider my words, looking deeply into my eyes. My words might have been a bit extreme, but I know I won't regret them in the future.
"... Alright. I'll send the proposal to Miss Goo Ryeon."
A sincere smile crosses my face, my heart racing with happiness. I bow quickly in gratitude, a sigh of relief and joy escaping my lips.
"Thank you so much."

I place the box on the small table, dust visibly swirling around me, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it. Carefully, I take my belongings out of the box and sit down in my chair.
When I lift my gaze, I notice everyone watching my every move, perhaps waiting for an announcement or just intrigued. Goo Ryeon is the first to break the silence, her always calm and peaceful voice filling the room.
"So, you’ve wanted to join the team for a while now?"
She looks at me with a hint of suspicion, perhaps a trace of judgment behind her eyes, but she quickly relaxes, settling comfortably in her chair.
"Welcome, Miss Yoon," she says, offering me a faint smile. "But know that we have a lot of work to do."
I smile enthusiastically. I’m ready for whatever comes my way.
I glance at Mr. Choi beside me, who greets me with his cheerful and sweet tone. As I laugh at his enthusiasm, my eyes meet those of Lim Ryung-gu. He simply nods in greeting, not saying a word.
Lim Ryung-gu was a familiar face to me. I’m nearly a hundred years older than him, so I was there when the slender young man with brown curls walked through Jumadeung’s doors, completely scared and confused.
The first time I saw him, I immediately knew he would be my downfall. My breathing quickened, my heart skipped a beat, and I became utterly lost in thought whenever I was near him.
For years, I tried to get closer to him, but his cold, neutral gaze always kept me at a distance. He never spoke more than conventional phrases or polite greetings that further pushed me away.
Still, I never stopped trying. I always treated him as kindly, warmly, and respectfully as possible, careful not to overstep his boundaries.
I watch him as he skillfully and quickly works on the computer. He’s grown a lot since joining the team. I can’t help but notice his soft strands, now dyed blonde, falling subtly over his forehead, as his tongue grazes his reddened lips in a sign of deep concentration. He’s beautiful.
My thoughts are interrupted by the sharp, synchronized sounds of our phones vibrating on the table. We all look at each other, and I can feel the nervousness starting to flow through me. My first mission.
"Alright, ma’am, the person in question is Min Taekwon, twenty-three years old." Ryung-gu’s soft yet firm voice fills the room as he explains the basic details of the case.
"Okay, let’s go. We need to move." Straightening my posture, I follow the others, leaving last.
"Don’t be nervous, sunbaenim. It’ll all be okay." Ryung-gu slows his steps as we leave the office, whispering comforting words to me. I try not to let my surprise show as I smile at him gratefully.
"Thank you." He doesn’t respond, but his gaze glimmers with an unfamiliar feeling as he walks away, acting as though nothing happened.
❪ 💫 ❫
I carefully observe the youthful-looking man lying unconscious on a hospital bed. His body is covered in bruises that send chills down my spine. He had undoubtedly endured tremendous pain for his skin to take on such a greenish-purple hue.
I sigh, intrigued, diverting my gaze to my new teammates, who were seriously assessing the situation.
“What happened to him?” I ask, genuinely curious, my voice betraying a mix of curiosity and pity.
“He had an accident while trying to save his sister from drowning in a river. Apparently, she was being chased by a man who pushed her into the water in an attempt to kill her. He probably fought with the man, but the guy fled, and the sister ended up drowning,” Ryung-gu explains, his gaze filled with pity. I could tell he sympathized with the man’s pain of losing someone so important.
“They were twins abandoned at an orphanage when they were children, but his sister was adopted by a British family who lived in Korea for a few years before deciding to return to their home country. This separated the siblings, and they lost contact over the years,” Goo Ryeon elaborates, giving us insight into the root of the problem so we could approach the situation with a deeper understanding of the man’s life.
“He didn’t know his sister’s whereabouts but searched for her for years, even without knowing she was in a foreign country,” she continues as we all listen attentively. “He recently managed to find her after years of searching, as she had returned to Korea to attend a prestigious university.” She sighs, her next words heavy with sorrow, adding a weighty, knowing atmosphere to the room.
“But unfortunately, he lost her so quickly, making the years he spent searching for her feel like a futile effort.”
My chest tightens at the man’s heartbreaking story. Someone so young should be enjoying life, not carrying such unbearable pain that was beyond his control.
“Wow that must have been so hard for him. I don’t know if I could handle it alone after living my life with someone identical to me,” Mr. Choi says, shaking his head, as though trying to picture the situation from his perspective.
I nod, agreeing with his words. “Being brutally separated from the only person who truly understands you in such an unfair world must be too heavy a burden to bear,” I whisper softly, my tone lined with a quiet anguish, as if the situation evoked a strange and nostalgic ache in me—something I almost understood on a deeper level.
Before anyone could say more, a sharp, repetitive beeping sound filled the air. Ryung-gu pressed a button on his watch, glancing at Goo Ryeon as though silently explaining himself. She merely nodded, granting him permission to leave.
Before turning away, his bittersweet gaze meets mine, and I feel an inexplicable internal suffocation. I wish I could understand why my body reacted so strangely to his presence—his mere existence seemed to stir sensations in me, both foreign and oddly familiar.
“Alright, we’ll stay here until he wakes up. We need to ensure he doesn’t do anything rash while we’re not watching,” Goo Ryeon says, prompting Mr. Choi and me to nod in agreement. We then disperse to wait in the corridor outside Min Taekwon’s room.
❪ 💫 ❫
A few hours had passed since we arrived at the hospital, and it was already the afternoon of the following day. When we heard that Min Taekwon had woken up, we stayed on high alert for any suspicious movements he might make. Still, all of us couldn’t hide our surprise at the way he cheerfully and politely interacted with the nurses and doctors, looking as if he had just awakened from a rejuvenating beauty sleep.
“Isn’t this a bit strange? He just lost his sister and went through a severe accident trying to save her, yet here he is, smiling brightly at the staff,” I comment, confused by the situation, unsure if I’d ever be strong enough to maintain such a convincing facade.
“... We all have different ways of dealing with pain, and some people try to escape their mind’s oppression by hiding their struggles,” Ryung-gu’s low voice suddenly answers from behind me, sending shivers down my spine as his calm tone reverberates within me.
“Oh!... Good morning, Ryung-gu.”
“Thank goodness you’re here, Mr. Lim! Hey, you wouldn’t mind grabbing some coffee for us, would you?” Mr. Choi speaks in a drawn-out, tired tone, practically begging Ryung-gu with puppy-dog eyes as he shifts uncomfortably in the hospital chair.
“He’s got a point; after sitting here for hours doing nothing, a little boost would be nice. Miss Yoon, why don’t you go with him to help carry the coffee back?” I glance between Ryung-gu and her, nodding silently before walking alongside him out of the hospital.
The walk wasn’t long since the café wasn’t far from the hospital. A quiet silence settled between us—not uncomfortable, but perhaps cowardly, as neither of us seemed brave enough to start a conversation.
I still felt that strange sensation whenever I was near him, and I could sense he felt it too. Even though his rigid posture betrayed no emotion, something about him made me believe there was much more beneath his stoic exterior.
We stood in line until it was our turn to order, Ryung-gu stepping up to place the request.
“Three Americanos and one pineapple-mint tea, please.”
I looked at him in surprise as we walked to sit and wait for our order. Ryung-gu gazed at the passersby outside the window, his expression distant, leaving me wondering what was on his mind. Without realizing it, I had been staring at him, lost in thought.
“How… how did you know I don’t like coffee?” I finally asked, breaking the silence. His eyes widened slightly, and I could see the faint flicker of surprise behind his composed demeanor. He seemed to wrestle with his thoughts, perhaps asking himself the same question I had just posed to him.
But then, after a moment of pondering, he met my gaze confidently, his tone clear and smooth despite the inner turmoil he likely felt. “You always decline whenever a coworker offers you coffee, sunbaenim. And you keep tea bags in your desk at the office, so I guessed that was your favorite flavor.”
This time, I was the one struggling to stay calm. My heart raced uncontrollably, and my face flushed slightly. It was strange to think he had noticed such trivial habits of mine, but it was proof of his attentiveness toward me. I sighed, a faint, embarrassed smile forming on my lips.
“You know… come to think of it, we’ve worked together for so many years, long enough to consider ourselves close. You don’t need to be so formal with me, Ryung-gu. You can call me Noona—I don’t mind skipping the formalities, you know.”
For the first time in years, Ryung-gu showed something I had never seen before—a faint blush spreading across his face. It made him even more attractive, and the fact that he tried to hide it by forcing a cough and averting his gaze, all while maintaining his composure, was both endearing and unforgettable to witness.
Before Ryung-gu could respond, his name was called, signaling that our order was ready.
❪ 💫 ❫
I carefully analyze the environment, observing each detail of the simple yet cozy decor. The various framed photos with two smiling children's faces were spread throughout the entire house. The soft scent of lavender and the meticulously arranged surroundings were almost satisfying to see.
Five days had passed since Min Taekwon was discharged from the hospital, but despite his brief rest, he chose not to follow the doctor's note, returning to work early at his job as a photojournalist.
Obviously, he wasn't mentally stable enough to return so quickly to his routine environment, causing him to have a psychological breakdown after seeing the knife on the dining table in the office where he worked. He locked himself in the bathroom to try to calm his panic attack. We disguised ourselves as employees of the company, so Ryung-gu managed to get into the bathroom to try to help him, but didn't get good results when Min Taekwon simply emerged from the bathroom with his usual forced smile, with even more percentages of the app falling into the reddish color.
Goo Ryeon then sent Mr. Choi and me to Min Taekwon's apartment, hoping we could find something about him that would help us get closer and understand him even more.
I decided to search his room while Mr. Choi searched the rest of the house. Like the rest of the apartment, everything was perfectly clean and organized, probably he has some tendency towards cleanliness or something like that.
I searched through his drawers, wardrobe, boxes, but all I found were things related to his work or personal documents. It's strange to imagine that he spent so much time dedicating his life to his job, without being able to focus his mind on anything else without succumbing to dismay.
I sighed despondently after an incessant search with no results. I sat on the bed to gather my thoughts. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket, but as I tried to pick it up, it slipped from my hand, falling to the floor.
I crouched down to pick up the phone and answered the call. Ryung-gu's voice seemed like just background noise to me as I carefully observed the eye-catching black leather padded folder underneath the bed.
— Hello? Did you guys find anything? - Ryung-gu asked curiously, his voice showing anxiety because of my silence.
— Um… Ryung-gu, I think I found something. - I spoke slowly, picking up the folder and placing it on the bed. I put the phone next to me on speakerphone so I could check the contents of the folder calmly.
— Well? Did you find anything useful that we can use? - Ryung-gu asked again, but I still didn't give him any answer. This time, though, the reason was much more serious. I felt my throat tighten as my eyes widened in shock.
With trembling hands, I hesitantly held the Polaroids. From the blurry image, I imagine it must have been taken very quickly, and from the distance, definitely in a discreet manner. In all the photos, I could see Min Taekwon's sister doing something totally unaware that she was being watched.
Drinking coffee in the afternoon with friends, doing grocery shopping, going on a date with a young and handsome guy. Everything—everything—she did in her daily life was in that folder. My stomach churned in a strange way, and this was definitely bad. I felt a deep anguish invade my being, and tears threatened to overflow in my eyes as my breathing became irregular. This was hitting me more deeply than it should, and I didn't know why.
Looking deeper, unfortunately, I found even more evidence of this grotesque act. There were dozens of screenshots from her social media, with photos and locations she passed through, all annotated on sheets attached to each print. There was a small notebook the same color as the folder, I see a well-crafted handwriting and I can only think about how scheming this guy is, and it makes me nauseous.
In the content of the small notebook, there were notes about times and places, explaining all the content of the photos. He also wrote thoughts about how much he thought she had grown and become healthy, how much he hated her “petty” boyfriend, according to his notes.
A pressure takes over my head, and feeling dizzy and disoriented, I try to get up from the bed but end up stumbling and hitting my head on the floor. Mr. Choi rushes into the room upon hearing the sound of my head hitting the ground, “HEY! NO! Please, wake up. Stay with me—please…” that's the last thing I hear before losing consciousness completely.
❪ 💫 ❫
“Hey, wake up.” A male voice whispered softly beside me, his fingers gently caressing my scalp, which made me open my eyes. My eyelids slightly contracted due to the bright light hitting my face.
With my vision still a bit blurred, I tried to focus my gaze on the slender young man beside me, a tender smile appearing on his face, bringing a nostalgic sense of comfort.
“Dear, we need to go. We don’t have much time.” He spoke, and after everything finally took shape in my field of vision, I realized it was Ryung-gu lying beside me on a small patch of lush grass in the middle of a vast field of roses.
The face definitely belonged to Ryung-gu that I knew, but he looked different, with more natural hair and clothing very old-fashioned, like from the Joseon Dynasty, very similar to the one I was wearing, though his clothes were more worn out.
He helped me to stand up, holding my hands tightly and pulling me deeper into the field. He ran ahead of me, looking back with a bright, gentle smile—something very different from what I was used to. I ran after him, trying to catch up, but suddenly he disappeared from my sight through a dark door standing still in the middle of the field.
Suddenly, a chill ran through my body; the sky that was once bright and clear was suddenly cloudy and dark. I felt a fear weighing on my heart, tingling and trembling in my hands and legs. I swallowed hard, and before I could process anything, my legs walked on their own towards the dark.
It was dark. It was night. Some lanterns faintly illuminated the cobbled street, some drops trickling from the roofs of the houses after the rain had stopped just a little while ago.
I was standing in the middle of a narrow, small street, overwhelmed by curiosity and awe as I looked around. Hearing frantic footsteps, I looked to the side where Ryung-gu's robe disappeared around the corner.
I ran desperately after him but found nothing, yet I felt like I shouldn’t stop. The footsteps that had been ahead of me, at that moment, I felt them behind me, but I subconsciously knew they didn’t belong to Ryung-gu’s steps.
I tried to run even more, knowing my legs didn’t have much strength left after traveling such a long distance. I wasn’t paying attention to where exactly I was running because I just had the feeling that I needed to do this.
Totally scattered and disoriented, I ended up getting cornered in a dead-end street, surrounded only by some ancient goods from merchants. When I stopped, the noise that was chasing me did the same—a shadow hovering over me. My eyes closed, and a solitary tear fell, my body trembling uncontrollably.
I turned slowly, and before I could see the face of the one chasing me, a stunning pain seared into my abdomen. The blade glimmering under the bright light of a full moon reflected in my eyes as I fell to the ground.
I didn’t know if my vision was blurred by the pain or by the tears, but even with my limited vision, I could see my assailant suddenly move when another blade from a sword grazed his right arm.
With the dizziness I felt from the lack of air in my lungs, I couldn’t process much of what was happening around me, but I could see when the assailant managed to flee abruptly.
Seconds later, strong arms gently lifted me into his lap, which would be a comfortable position if I weren’t in so much pain.
“N-no! No, no, no! Please, open your eyes… please…” As I heard his voice, the thought that I would miss his sweet and eloquent tone that I loved so much quickly crossed my mind, almost as if someone was thinking for me.
“Dear— I’m sorry! I’m sorry for leaving, but please, stay with me just this once…” he tried to speak through tears, but his irregular breathing and the tears wetting his face prevented him from speaking clearly.
I placed my hand over the one he was trying to stop the bleeding with, gently caressing his hand with my thumb, filled with pain mixed with tenderness.
“I—I… I…” My voice was weak and very faint, and Ryung-gu cried even more upon hearing it this way.
“No— p-please. Don’t say anything, I—I’ll get you out of here.”
Making the maximum effort I could, I held his face while wiping his tears, his tears now mixed with a crimson red of my blood.
“I… I love you… I… I’m so sorry.”

— Look, I don’t know. I just got here, and she fainted, so I brought her here immediately. - Mr. Choi’s voice was filled with desperation as I felt him pacing back and forth.
— Calm down, she’s already waking up, look there. - I heard Miss Goo Ryeon trying to calm him. I slowly opened my eyes and only then realized that I was lying on the sofa in one of Jumadeung’s rooms, but my attention was redirected when I felt fingers gently caressing my right hand.
— It’s okay, stay calm. - Ryung-gu helped me sit up slowly, supporting a hand on my back as he let go of my hand to wipe away the tears that were running unnoticed down my face. My eyes fixed on Ryung-gu’s gaze, which held a mix of emotions I couldn’t describe but definitely touched my heart. Even as he futilely tried to wipe them away, the tears wouldn’t stop falling. Memories of the dream I had flooded my mind, but I couldn’t express my emotions in words, not physically.
Internally, I felt an overwhelming desire to hug him, and I couldn’t even distinguish why. How can I say it was just a dream when all the emotions felt so vivid on my skin?
Before I could say anything to him, I was interrupted by Mr. Choi’s dramatic sobbing as he sat down next to me, resting his hand on my shoulder.
— Please, don’t do this again! You scared me half to death. - I smiled faintly at him, returning the squeeze of his hand on my shoulder.
— It’s all okay now. I mean, as much as it can be… what I found in there was at least disturbing. - They all nodded silently in agreement that they were aware of the situation.
— What you found was just the tip of the iceberg. - Miss Goo Ryeon spoke cautiously, choosing her words with care. — Mr. Choi and I will handle this for now, but you need to pull yourself together, Miss Yoon, this situation was clearly too stressful for you. Lim Ryung-gu, can you stay with her here in Jumadeung? We need to deal with this situation as quickly as possible, but we can’t work with you in this state.
— Yes, ma’am. Please keep us updated on everything that happens. - Ryung-gu responded, watching Miss Goo Ryeon and Mr. Choi leave to deal with the situation.
As soon as they left, I tried to get up, determined to clear all the doubts in my mind. However, I was quickly stopped by Ryung-gu, who gently held my arms, making me sit back on the sofa.
— Where do you think you’re going? You need to rest, you’re not okay at all. Do you know how worried I was about you? - I stayed silent, his words catching me off guard. — I mean, all of us were really worried about you. You just passed out and almost hurt your head.
— I’m already feeling better. I… I need to handle something, so I think it’s better if you don’t stop me.
— Then I’m coming with you. - He stood firmly in front of me, looking at me with concern, reminding me of his tear-streaked face in my memories. I remembered, Ryung-gu…
— Okay, then.
❪ 💫 ❫
I quickly walked out of the elevator leading directly to my mother’s office. The first place I thought might be helpful was the library of past life memories records, but nothing was listed in the system about my past life, nor Ryung-gu’s. The boy followed me, confused but not questioning anything. Despite looking confused, I felt a distant glimmer of knowledge behind his eyes.
As a last resort, I imagined that the only person who could help us was her. Mysterious and quiet, but she was the only one who knew everything that happened in Jumadeung.
I didn’t bother knocking on the door, just pulled Ryung-gu inside quickly, startling him a bit with my anxious actions.
— Who dares-
— Mom, we need to talk. - She looked at us a little surprised, and a bit of anger appeared on her face, but her expression relaxed when she saw our joined hands. She got up from her chair, letting out a slight sigh before speaking:
— So the moment has come... Please, make yourselves comfortable. - she gestured to the sofa, sitting down in front of us.
— What’s going on, Noona? You got weird since you saw those pictures. - Ryung-gu squeezed our joined hands a little tighter.
— Mom, Ryung-gu… While I was unconscious, I had a dream. Actually, it was a memory, possibly from my last past life. - They both listened attentively, Ryung-gu more curious and my mom patient.
— In this memory, I saw Ryung-gu. And we were... Together. But then everything went dark and cold, and it was so real. The blade, the blood, the crying... It was so real to have just been a dream. - I felt Ryung-gu shudder beside me, releasing my hand as he ran a hand through his hair, leaning his elbows on his knees, sighing heavily.
— Dear, I think it’s time to tell you an old story. A long time ago, there was a young lady and a young man. This lady was the heiress to a powerful fortune from a foreign family who came to Korea to establish power relations. The boy, on the other hand, was a poor boy, but very intelligent and sharp. Through a chance meeting they had, they ended up falling in love from a young age and kept their relationship a secret for a long time. They were soulmates separated by fate. - I listened intently to everything, but I glanced away as I noticed tears streaming down Ryung-gu’s face, which he tried to hide behind his hands.
— The lady’s family, discovering her involvement with someone from a lower class, found it unacceptable. It would be a shame for the family’s reputation if they knew about such barbarity, they thought. However, a rival family, hearing these rumors, took advantage of the moment of weakness during one of the lady’s escapes, and cruelly exploited the situation, brutally murdering the young lady.
— You... You knew about this, Ryung-gu? - I swallowed hard, waiting for the response from the taller figure beside me. His face was completely taken over by tears, sobs and gasps accompanied his disjointed speech, my heart squeezing with the sight, my own tears following down my face.
— I- I didn’t know it was you. My memory was confused; I was afraid to say something and have you hate me. Forgive me, Jagiya. I couldn’t risk you forgetting about me, hating me.
— How could you, Ryung-gu! You’ve been ignoring your feelings, our relationship all because of pure fear?! - At this point, we were both standing facing each other, both with confused and mixed emotions, not knowing how to express ourselves in the face of such sudden revelations.
— Please, calm down! - My mom spoke in an altered tone, making me shift my attention to her. — He’s right, my daughter, you didn’t let me finish the story. When you arrived here in Jumadeung, the first thing you asked for was to forget your pain. You chose to follow this path, and if Ryung-gu reminded you of your past life, the thread that connects your souls could break, as it would be considered a breach of the pact.
The shock took over my body, and by impulse, I sat down crying on the sofa. All I could do was cry. For relief, for sadness, for fear. Arms instantly surrounded me, Ryung-gu’s warm breath comforting not just my skin but also my inner self. I needed his embrace, I needed him.
— I think I should leave you alone... - I heard the office door close, feeling more at ease in Ryung-gu’s presence alone.
— I’m sorry, Ryung-gu! I’m sorry for forgetting about you... I’m sorry for not doing enough. It must have been hard for you to bear all alone this time.
— It’s not your fault. Never apologize for something that was beyond your control. I understand why you did it, and I don’t blame you, it was just your way of dealing with the pain.
— Thank you for not forgetting me, Ryung-gu. - I hugged him as close as I could, wrapping myself in his warmth and forgetting all worries, remembering all the moments from the past when his arms were a comfort to me. All the times he wiped my tears, helped me deal with family issues even while facing his own difficulties. He was always there for me and for me, and now the time had come for me to return all the love and care he had given me since our past lives.
— No matter how much time passes or how many lives we have, I’ll never let our thread disconnect, you hear me? - He held my face, looking deeply into my eyes with a burning gaze. And after so many tears of pain and longing, I finally allowed myself to lovingly unite our lips. It was calm, gentle, and sweet, wrapped in love and nostalgia, our need and thirst for each other feeding the desire to be united, connected.
❪ 💫 ❫
— He what? - I asked completely stunned by such revelation.
— Exactly. - Goo Ryeon affirms Mr. Choi’s statement, who looked as surprised as I was. - Min Taekwon was actually stalking her for months, completely distorting his admiration for your sister into a pure, unhealthy obsession. He was stalking her without revealing his identity, but when he found out she was going to get married and move back to Europe, he killed her brother-in-law. When her sister went to offer condolences at the memorial she made by the river for her ex-fiancé, he confronted her, revealing his true intentions, and in the rush and adrenaline of the moment, he tried to attack her. She tried to defend herself, but because he was much stronger than her, she ended up stumbling, and both of them fell into the river.
— She didn’t survive, but he did. When he woke up, he felt strong regret for what he had done, so he wished to go with her.
Ryung-gu and I stared at each other in shock at the true story that Goo Ryeon told us.
— So, he was the real culprit behind everything all this time? - Ryung-gu asked, for the first time appearing so surprised.
— He eventually turned himself in to the police after realizing his apartment had been ransacked. There’s nothing more we can do; it was his choice. - Mr. Choi explains, sitting down in his chair.
— Wow!.. I was expecting everything except something like this. I guess not everything that appears is the truth.
— Yeah... - Goo Ryeon returns to her desk, probably writing about the case to file away.
— But changing the subject, you two have been looking pretty happy lately. Did Mr. Lim finally accept your love for Miss Yoon? - Joon-Woong leans his hands on his chin, looking at our direction with a smile. Ryung-gu takes a step back, clearing his throat awkwardly, going back to his desk. I follow the same steps, sitting down embarrassed at my desk, my face hot and probably very pink.
— Don’t worry, you make a great couple! I’m sure Mrs. Goo Ryeon agrees with me, isn’t that right, boss? - He speaks jokingly, receiving a warning look from Ryung-gu and only silence from Goo Ryeon, who just shows a small, discreet smile.
— Quiet down, kid. Lost your mind or something?! - Ryung-gu throws a pen at Joon-Woong, who complains, rubbing the spot where he was hit.
— Hey, I’m just messing around. No need to be aggressive, okay?!

Hi! I saw that u also write for Ryung-Gu and wanted to request an imagine :) How about the reader is a normal human girl (maybe she knew Ryung-Gu in a past life though and - obviously - just doesn’t remember that atm?) and Ryung-Gu keeps appearing around her and talking to her after meeting her during a mission, even though he knows he probably shouldn’t. He can’t help but fall in love with her (or if u choose to take the option where they already knew each other, he is STILL in love with her but she falls for him again). When she’s about to take her own life later on, he saves her (and maybe she also remembers him from then on cause someone gave her her memories back? Like the Jade Emperor? :) ) Thank you <3
Sorry for the late response, but this request is almost finished. Just some proof-reading to do and it'll be ready to go!!!!
Edit: HERE IT IS!!!! It has now been completed and is ready for you all to read. Thank you to the sender for requesting this. I had a lot of fun writing this because I honestly think that Ryung-gu deserves all the love and affection he needs and wants. Anyways, enough of my rambling... I hope you all enjoy this and if you all have any commission requests, please send them to my inbox or leave a comment on my commissions post which is pinned to the top of the blog. With that being said, STAY CLASSY~~~

Lover's Reunited (Ryung-gu x Reader)
Y/n's Pov
"Welcome to the team, Y/n. I hope you're ready for everything that comes your way." Ryeon said as I followed her into the Risk Management's Team Office. "I'm ready for anything." I answered. Once we entered the office, my eyes drifted across the room and connected to a pair of widened ones. " Ryung-gu, Jun-woong, this is L/n Y/n. She's now the newest member of the Risk Management Team. Ryung-gu, could you show here a quick little rundown of how we operate?"
Turning my head in the direction of her question, I made eye contact with the handsomest man ever. I waited a few seconds for his answer, but all he did was stare at me. "Is there, uh, something on my face?" I asked, starting to feel a bit awkward from his harsh stare. That seemed to snap him out of his daze. "Sorry, umm, let me give you a tour of our day-to-day agenda and how we keep track of our job." He stumbled, his cheeks gaining a light flush to them. "Great! I can't wait to start."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ryung-gu's Pov
The day was going by slowly as I waited for my shift to come to an end. Jun-woong and I were currently finishing up our latest mission reports when Ryeon came walking in, except she wasn't alone.  "Ryung-gu, Jun-woong, this is L/n Y/n. She's now the newest member of the Risk Management Team. Ryung-gu, could you show here a quick little rundown of how we operate?" She asked.
The question just went through one ear and out the other. 'It couldn't be her, could it?' I thought, my eyes widening in surprise as I got a look at the person behind Ryeon. It was Y/n. Standing right in front of me, it was her. It's been at least four centuries since I last saw her. But, she's here.
"Is there, uh, something on my face?" She asked, touching her face. Her voice sounded the exact same, but not trying to make her feel any more awkward, I answered. "Sorry, umm, let me give you a tour of our day-to-day agenda and how we keep track of our job." I mumbled, feeling my cheeks heat up a little. "Great! I can't wait to start." She chirped.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Y/n's Pov
It's been a little over 6 months since I joined the RM team. With each chance I got after every mission, I got closer and closer to finding out where and who my killer was. That was my sole purpose for joining this team. Only problem, Ryung-gu seems to be avoiding me ever since my first day on the job.
However, there was no time for worrying about it. "Hey, listen to me. I've been where you are. Feeling like you couldn't do anything to prevent him from his death? Feeling like it should've been you instead of him? It's natural for that to happen. It's why people call it grief. But, let me tell you, he wouldn't have wanted you to do this. He wants to believe that he'll see you again in the next life and the one after that. So, trust me when I say, it's going to get better. It's going to be like hell going through it, but it will get better. So, take my hand and I'll help you start the journey to healing." I spoke, reaching my hand out to the young girl in front of me.
"Do you really believe that? That we'll be together again?" The girl sobbed. "Yes, I do. Now, grab my hand." She hesitated for a bit, but she stepped down from the ledge and ran into my arms. Collapsing on the floor, I cradled her in my arms and let her cry until she calmed down.
"Thank you. I know that's probably weird to say after everything, but I really mean it." "There's no need to thank me, now let's get you home and out of this cold. "
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hey, Y/n, great work today. She seemed to really trust you." Jun-woong chimed, setting down a coffee right in front of me. "Thanks, you are a life-saver. But, it wasn't much. I just understood where she was coming from. When I was younger, I went through the same thing when my brother died in battle. The only person I could really trust after that was my best friend. But, I don't really remember much after my death so..."
We continued to chat until I noticed Ryung-gu walking into the room, looking troubled. "Ryung-gu, what's up? You seem worried." I asked. "It's nothing. The Director wants to see you. Something about your report." He answered. "Oh, okay....well, I guess I'll see you guys in a few."
Finishing up my coffee, I quickly made my way to the Director. On my way there, I bumped shoulders with someone. I turned to apologize but froze up. "Y-you...You!" I growled, my blood starting to boil. The man turned and I got a clear look at his face. It was the man that murdered me.
Letting out a scream, I ran and tackled him to the ground. The both of us grunted as we made contact to the ground. I began throwing punches left and right, each blow I let out a yell. What felt like hours was actually minutes. Soon enough, I felt arms wrap around me and Ryung-gu's voice flooding my ears. "Y/n, stop! He's not worth it!" "It is worth it! He killed me! He killed me and my brother!" I screamed, tears streaming down my cheeks.
Ryung-gu and Jun-woong, who showed up minutes later, pulled me off the guy who was smirking at me. "WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?" A booming voice echoed deep in the hall. Reapers on every side stood silent as the Director came closer to the scene. “Who escorted this criminal in this building?” “No one. I came here on my own…” He stated, a cold smirk still lying on his face. I struggled in Ryung-gu’s grasp, just wanting to land one, killing strike on this asshole.
“YOU LIAR! YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID TO ME! TO MY FAMILY!!!” “You deserved what came to you. Your father owed huge debts and when he couldn’t pay himself, I did it for him.” He chortled in a sarcastic tone. “After all, it ended well for you. You’re back with your lowly lover, Lim Ryung-gu, so you should be thanking me.”
‘What….?’ I thought, anger slowly turning into confusion. Apparently, that amused him. “Oh, she never told you? The Director here sealed off your memories with him with MY recommendation. My plan to get away with it would’ve gone smoothly if you hadn’t started meddling with him or his team.” He spoke. “Enough!” The Director hissed before turning to another reaper. “Call for the Escort team’s best reaper and have them escort this man to the punishment room. Mr.Lim, if you could bring Y/n to my chambers. I will explain everything in great detail very soon. Everyone else, please continue on with your previous duties. That is enough discord for today.” She ordered, shuffling down the corridor .
As she walked off, Ryung-gu brought me into her office as instructed. Once we reached the door, I stopped in my tracks. “Did you know…?” I whispered. “What?” “Did you know? About me losing my memories? About our past together?” I cried, whipping my head in his direction with tears beading in the corners of my eyes. Ryung-gu’s once stoic expression softened into one of guilt and embarrassment. “Yes, I did.” He answered. “How long did you know?” “Since your first day here. When I saw you enter the office, I was in disbelief. I tried convincing myself that it was someone that looked like you, but after every mission, the more I came to terms with the truth. That you were real. Everything was confirmed when the Director called me into her office. She told me the truth about how you died, how you murdered. It took a long time for you to be reincarnated as a reaper and for our ties to appear again. I’m sorry that I kept this from you, I just didn’t know how to tell you properly.”
Each word he spoke was genuine and I knew it was the truth. Turning around to face him, I placed a gentle hand on his cheek and softly caressed it. “I- I’m sorry it took so long to come back to you. I’m so, so sorry” I sobbed. Ryung-gu pulled into his warm embrace, stroking my head as my tears soaked into his clothes. We sat like this for what felt like ages before we separated.
“I see you both have resolved everything on your own.” The Director spoke, her presence becoming known as she entered the room. “This day was never supposed to work out like this, but fate can be wildly mysterious. So, tell me, what will you two do now?” We turned to look at each other before I answered. “I think…We’ll do what we’ve always done. And that’s to help the ones who need it and we’ll do it together.” “Together.”
Author’s Note: Here we are, everyone. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. Ryung-gu ended up being a teddy bear type of guy, but that’s how I see him. I’ve added in the small detail of Y/n having a brother and the relationship between them and Ryung-gu already established. If any one has any commission requests, I leave a link down below on how to request them. If you’d like to be added to the fandom taglist, leave a like and a comment. With that being said, Stay Classy~~
Chapter One: Who's The New Kid?
No One's Pov
It was never an easy task for a person's soul to rest easy in the Afterlife. Many believe that once you die, there's just darkness. But, that's not entirely true. You see, here in Jumadeung, resurrection is the main goal for a soul to find peace, no matter how deep their wounds may be.
But, for the souls that had committed many crimes in their past life, they are faced with a Judgement Day. Said day determines how long and how severe your punishment will be. And there's only two people that a soul sees last before finding their eternal resting place. The Director and their Punisher.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Soo.....now that I'll be working with you guys, is there anything I should know before meeting the Director?" A young voice chimed with curiosity. There was a short silence in the room before a woman spoke, her tone serious.
"There is. Legend has it that the Director has only one person that takes care of all the work behind the scenes of souls coming in and out of Jumadeung. When it comes to her role here at Jumadeung, she is known throughout the company as the Director's sole punisher. With each soul's trial that ends in punishment, Kim Y/n is always there to torture those souls with the crimes they've committed in the Land of the Living before sending them off to the hell assigned to them. I even heard that she transforms into the soul's victim which makes her even more terrifying." Ryeon explained.
"Is that what you think of me?" Y/n said, popping up behind Ryeon and scaring the wits out of her. "When did you get here?" "Just now, when you said my name. You know, I'm not as scary as those rumors make me out to be. I'm a very childish person at heart." Y/n explained, moving closer into the room and circling around Jun-woong. "Now, let's get to work, shall we?" She said, skipping down the steps and plopping herself on the couch across from Jun-woong.
"So, this is your mission's mistake? The half-and-half?" Y/n chirped. "Ah, yes, my name is Choi Jun-woong. It's nice to meet you, Miss Kim." Jun-woong replied, giving a slight bow. "No need to be polite, just call me Y/n. Miss Kim makes me feel old." "Oh okay."
"Y/n, do you happen to know where the Director is?" Ryeon asked. "I don't know, they could be out running some errands. They did ask for me to tell you to meet in the conference room to discuss Half-And-Half's placement. I would take him under my wing, but he might actually die in my care, so..." Y/n answered, her words trailing off into a whistle.
"What?" Jun-woong let out a small squeak in fear. "Oh, just so know, all those rumors that Ryeon said about me is true. Anyways, newbie, I should get going. Duty calls." With those being her last words, Y/n hopped up from the couch and left the room.
"Should I be afraid of her?" Jun-woong questioned the two members of the Risk Management Team, who looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders. "Only if you get on her bad side and trust me, it won't be a pretty sight to see." Ryung-gu said, his deadpanned look sent chills down Jun-woong's spine.
"Well, we have to get going. More like I do since Assistant Team Manager Ryung-gu is off the clock now. All you have to do, Choi Jun-woong, is to stay here until the Director gets here to discuss how these next six months are going to go." Ryeon explained before she and Ryung-gu left, leaving Jun-woong to his thoughts.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Grunts and shouts echoed in the empty room as punches and slaps landed on the soul chained to the ground. "How does it feel, Papa? Do you like it when I give you a taste of your own medicine?" A small voice screamed with cruel laughter tied into it.
"Mi-yeon, please, Papa is sorry! He never meant to hurt you!" The soul cried out in pain, sobs shaking his body. "You never meant to hurt her? Did you feel sorry when you slapped her multiple times for getting one bad grade? Did you feel sorry when you came home drunk and started choking her? Or did you feel sorry when you would go into her room at night and start touching her? I don't think you were sorry at all or even felt a shred of remorse." Y/n whispered into his ear.
The soul, now bruised and bloody, began to cry even harder and started begging for the torture to stop. "Please...please, I'm sorry, Mi-yeon, I'm so sorry..." "No amount of 'sorry's or apologies will fix anything. Your daughter is gone and it's all your fault. So, for the rest of your afterlife, you will never be resurrected again. You'll spend the rest of your eternal afterlife will be spent in Hell, reliving all the pain and suffering you've inflicted on your daughter. Your five year old daughter."
The whimpers dwindled down into silent sobs as he finally realized that he'd never get another chance to right his wrongs with his child. He fell limp in Y/n's arms and stayed that way as she began to drag his limp body to the door leading her down to Hell.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On her way back into Jumadeung, Y/n stopped by the front desk to return the keys to the receptionist. Y/n turned around and started making her way to the elevator when all of a sudden, she felt a hard shove push her down to the ground. But, before she could hit the cold floor, strong hands wrapped themselves around her soft waist and she was pulled into a hard chest.
"Are you okay?" A deep voice rumbled quietly. Y/n, snapping out of her small trance, pulled away from whoever caught her and looked up to see Park Jung-gil, Leader of the Escort Team, holding her by the waist. She quickly pushed him away, her cheeks heating up in embarrassment.
"U-uhh, yeah, I'm fine. I'm okay. Thanks though, for helping me." She stuttered out. She then stepped to the side and went on her way, not feeling the lingering eyes on her as she walked into the elevator. "Hmm, interesting..."

hi, thank you for answering! (and sorry for accidentally spelling his name wrong, that’s literally so embarrassing but i was in a hurry😅)
i would like to just submit a regular request with ryung-gu where the reader is the childhood best friend of joon-woong but dies at the beginning of the show (she was murdered) but is reunited with him as she also joins ryeon’s team. secretly, she tries to find the guy who murdered her to get revenge.
she has a weird feeling around ryun-gu and also gets suspicious as he’s clearly avoiding her. after a while of working with them, she finds out that they were lovers in a past life, connected through the red thread of fate, before he died after what happened to his mother and leaving her alone in the process. as they try to find and stop the guy who killed the reader from killing other innocent people, she learns to forgive ryung-gu and they fall in love again.
you said u wanted it to be specific and i tried to come up with as much detail as i could; hope this isn’t too specific now. :)
This is gonna pull at my heartstrings while I write this....I hope you enjoy this request!!!~~~

Her being from a wealthy upper-class family with scholars and him, a genius born in the slums. Four centuries later, Y/n is now an official reaper at Jumadeung and joins the Risk Management team. Tensions rise as she attempts to seek revenge on her killer and memories begin to pop up with each interaction she has with her team member, Ryung-gu.

Ryung-gu's Pov
The day was going by slowly as I waited for my shift to come to an end. Jun-woong and I were currently finishing up our latest mission reports when Ryeon came walking in, except she wasn't alone.  "Ryung-gu, Jun-woong, this is L/n Y/n. She's now the newest member of the Risk Management Team. Ryung-gu, could you show here a quick little rundown of how we operate?" She asked.
The question just went through one ear and out the other. 'It couldn't be her, could it?' I thought, my eyes widening in surprise as I got a look at the person behind Ryeon. It was Y/n. Standing right in front of me, it was her. It's been at least four centuries since I last saw her. But, she's here.
"Is there, uh, something on my face?" She asked, touching her face. Her voice sounded the exact same, but not trying to make her feel any more awkward, I answered. "Sorry, umm, let me give you a tour of our day-to-day agenda and how we keep track of our job." I mumbled, feeling my cheeks heat up a little. "Great! I can't wait to start." She chirped.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hey, Y/n, great work today. She seemed to really trust you." Jun-woong chimed, setting down a coffee right in front of me. "Thanks, you are a life-saver. But, it wasn't much. I just understood where she was coming from. When I was younger, I went through the same thing when my brother died in battle. The only person I could really trust after that was my best friend. But, I don't really remember much after my death so..."
We continued to chat until I noticed Ryung-gu walking into the room, looking troubled. "Ryung-gu, what's up? You seem worried." I asked. "It's nothing. The Director wants to see you. Something about your report." He answered. "Oh, okay....well, I guess I'll see you guys in a few."
Finishing up my coffee, I quickly made my way to the Director. On my way there, I bumped shoulders with someone. I turned to apologize but froze up. "Y-you...You!" I growled, my blood starting to boil. The man turned and I got a clear look at his face. It was the man that murdered me.
Letting out a scream, I ran and tackled him to the ground. The both of us grunted as we made contact to the ground. I began throwing punches left and right, each blow I let out a yell. What felt like hours was actually minutes. Soon enough, I felt arms wrap around me and Ryung-gu's voice flooding my ears. "Y/n, stop! He's not worth it!" "It is worth it! He killed me! He killed me and my brother!" I screamed, tears streaming down my cheeks.
Ryung-gu and Jun-woong, who showed up minutes later, pulled me off the guy who was smirking at me. "WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?" A booming voice echoed deep in the hall. Reapers on every side stood silent as the Director came closer to the scene. “Who escorted this criminal in this building?” “No one. I came here on my own…” He stated, a cold smirk still lying on his face. I struggled in Ryung-gu’s grasp, just wanting to land one, killing strike on this asshole.
“YOU LIAR! YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID TO ME! TO MY FAMILY!!!” “You deserved what came to you. Your father owed huge debts and when he couldn’t pay himself, I did it for him.” He chortled in a sarcastic tone. “After all, it ended well for you. You’re back with your lowly lover, Lim Ryung-gu, so you should be thanking me.”
‘What….?’ I thought, anger slowly turning into confusion. Apparently, that amused him. “Oh, she never told you? The Director here sealed off your memories with him with MY recommendation. My plan to get away with it would’ve gone smoothly if you hadn’t started meddling with him or his team.” He spoke. “Enough!” The Director hissed before turning to another reaper. “Call for the Escort team’s best reaper and have them escort this man to the punishment room. Mr.Lim, if you could bring Y/n to my chambers. I will explain everything in great detail very soon. Everyone else, please continue on with your previous duties. That is enough discord for today.” She ordered, shuffling down the corridor .
As she walked off, Ryung-gu brought me into her office as instructed. Once we reached the door, I stopped in my tracks. “Did you know…?” I whispered. “What?” “Did you know? About me losing my memories? About our past together?” I cried, whipping my head in his direction with tears beading in the corners of my eyes. Ryung-gu’s once stoic expression softened into one of guilt and embarrassment. “Yes, I did.” He answered. “How long did you know?” “Since your first day here. When I saw you enter the office, I was in disbelief. I tried convincing myself that it was someone that looked like you, but after every mission, the more I came to terms with the truth. That you were real. Everything was confirmed when the Director called me into her office. She told me the truth about how you died, how you murdered. It took a long time for you to be reincarnated as a reaper and for our ties to appear again. I’m sorry that I kept this from you, I just didn’t know how to tell you properly.”
Each word he spoke was genuine and I knew it was the truth. Turning around to face him, I placed a gentle hand on his cheek and softly caressed it. “I- I’m sorry it took so long to come back to you. I’m so, so sorry” I sobbed. Ryung-gu pulled into his warm embrace, stroking my head as my tears soaked into his clothes. We sat like this for what felt like ages before we separated.
“I see you both have resolved everything on your own.” The Director spoke, her presence becoming known as she entered the room. “This day was never supposed to work out this way, but fate can be wildly mysterious. So, tell me, what will you two do now?” We turned to look at each other before I answered. “I think…We’ll do what we’ve always done. And that’s to help the ones who need it and we’ll do it together.” “Together.”
Author’s Note: Here we are, Anon. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. Ryung-gu ended up being a teddy bear type of guy, but that’s how I see him. I’ve added in the small detail of Y/n having a brother and the relationship between them and Ryung-gu already established. If any one has any commission requests, I leave a link down below on how to request them. If you’d like to be added to the fandom taglist, leave a like and a comment. With that being said, Stay Classy~~
Title: 'My Tomorrow Is With You...'
Warnings: Canon Angst, Mentions of Death, Abuse, Sexual Assault, Fluff, NSFW! Smut, Rough Sex, Mutual Masturbation, Unprotected Sex, !MINORS DO NOT INTERACT!
Synopsis: For all her life up until her death at the age of 22, Kim Y/n was simply a lost soul who wanted revenge on the men that hurt her. That day was promised to her when she was released from her hell by the Jade Emperor, who employed her to be the punisher of all criminal souls. Now at 425, she gets closer and closer to her wish coming true, only now she's tasked with helping the Risk Management stay afloat while also keeping their newbie in check. Along the way, she crosses many obstacles with the Team Manager of the Escort Team, Park Jung-gil and the stoic Lim Ryung-gu. Said obstacles develop into feelings and she now has to choose. Revenge or a happy ending?
Story Preview: ........."When it comes to her role here at Jumadeung, she is known throughout the company as the Director's sole punisher. With each soul's trial that ends in punishment, Kim Y/n is always there to torture those souls with the crimes they've committed in the Land of the Living before sending them off to the hell assigned to them. I even heard that she transforms into the soul's victim which makes her even more terrifying." Ryeon explained.
"Is that what you think of me?" Y/n said, popping up behind Ryeon and scaring the wits out of her. "When did you get here?" "Just now, when you said my name. You know, I'm not as scary as those rumors make me out to be. I'm a very childish person at heart." Y/n explained, moving closer into the room and circling around Jun-woong. "Now, let's get to work, shall we?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Director, is it really necessary for Jung-gil and Ryung-gu to watch me? I've been fine for the last few years and nothing bad has happen-" "But, something could happen. It's only a matter of time, and a short amount at that, until that seal is broken. You need to find your other halves so that your soul can finally balance and you can have peace." The Director explained, staring right at me. I sighed in disbelief. 'Why does it have to be those two? They don't even like each other.' I thought to myself.
"Now, if you are ready to accept the help I'm offering, I will set up a cabin in a private location. You'll be there for at least two weeks under the careful watch of those two. I will also handle any personal needs that you three might have, so I need you to compile a list of things that are important and have it on my desk by tonight before you leave." "Yes, ma'am. Is there anything else you need me to do?" "No, that is all. You may leave now." She said, returning her attention to her work.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Whatever happens in this cabin must STAY in this cabin. To make sure that that happens, I've written up contracts for all three of us to sign. Once we sign them, there's no turning back. So, I need both verbal and written consent from the two of you or you can go back to Jumadeung and go about your separate ways." I explained, placing down two contracts in front of Jung-gil and Ryung-gu.
After a few seconds of them scanning over, they signed their contracts and handed back over to me. "I think it's safe to say that the both of us agree to whatever happens in this cabin."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'What did I do, what did I do, what did I do?' I thought, panic quickly rising in my body. This was never supposed to happen. HE was never supposed to be here and this should've never happened. "WHERE ARE THEY?!" I shouted, busting open the doors in the middle of the meeting of the team leaders. Marching into the middle of the room, I came face-to-face with Ha Dae-su, the King of Hell.
"Hmm, well if it isn't Kim Y/n, the Director's little....pet....." He jeered, leaning close to my face. "I'm no one's pet, Dae-su. Now, answer my question, where are they?" I seethed.

My Tomorrow Is With You... Chapter One Preview (A Tomorrow Kdrama x Reader)

Chapter One: Who's The New Kid?
No One's Pov
It was never an easy task for a person's soul to rest easy in the Afterlife. Many believe that once you die, there's just darkness. But, that's not entirely true. You see, here in Jumadeung, resurrection is the main goal for a soul to find peace, no matter how deep their wounds may be.
But, for the souls that had committed many crimes in their past life, they are faced with a Judgement Day. Said day determines how long and how severe your punishment will be. And there's only two people that a soul sees last before finding their eternal resting place. The Director and their Punisher.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Soo.....now that I'll be working with you guys, is there anything I should know before meeting the Director?" A young voice chimed with curiosity. There was a short silence in the room before a woman spoke, her tone serious.
"There is. Legend has it that the Director has only one person that takes care of all the work behind the scenes of souls coming in and out of Jumadeung. When it comes to her role here at Jumadeung, she is known throughout the company as the Director's sole punisher. With each soul's trial that ends in punishment, Kim Y/n is always there to torture those souls with the crimes they've committed in the Land of the Living before sending them off to the hell assigned to them. I even heard that she transforms into the soul's victim which makes her even more terrifying." Ryeon explained.
"Now, let's get to work, shall we?" She said, skipping down the steps and plopping herself on the couch across from Jun-woong.
Hi!! So glad that you are accepting requests.,Can I request a Park Joong-Gil imagine where the reader is his subordinate and secretely has feelings for him, and she is the only person he shows his soft side to or smiles only around her.
One day reader asks him why he only smiles around her and he is like because he loves her and confesses to her. Thanks!
Okay, you got it!~~
"L/n, collect this life." "Yes, sir"
"Reaper L/n, the Director wants you to assist the Sales team in the collection of these lives." "Yes, sir."
This was how I spent most of my time on the Escort Team. Taking orders from the cold and stoic man that was my Team Manager. And also the man I grew feelings for. Park Jung-gil.
Most reapers say that it was a bad idea for a subordinate to develop feelings for their senior officer, but I didn't care. As long as it didn't cross any lines, I was fine with loving him from afar.
It's how I stayed around him for so long without ever doubting my performance. However, everything seem to change after my recent run-in with the Risk Management team.
"Ugh, why must you be so infuriating, Mr.Lim?" "Why must you be so stuck-up, Ms. L/n?" The childish banter echoed in the empty halls as I made my way to deliver my reports to Mr. Park. "You know, maybe the reason you're so stuck up is because you've hadn't had a date since the Joseon era."
That halted my steps. "What are you trying to say?" I squeaked, my cheeks flushing in embarrassment. "How long are you going to stay in the shadows with your feelings for Mr. Park?" "Why should that matter to you?" "It's obvious that you love him and it's very obvious that he likes you as well."
"What, no he doesn't! Stop joking around like that..." "I'm telling the truth. Many people see how he looks at you. He always smiles at you when you're not looking. He treats you nicer than everyone else in Jumadeung. You think that's a coincidence?"
"T-that doesn't mean anything. Besides, he could have threads attached to someone in his past." "Or, his threads could've attached onto another person....or reaper. If you don't believe me, wait until you leave his office and if he stops you, then you'll have your answer."
Ryung-gu then turned and walked away, leaving me with my thoughts. 'He is slightly nicer when it comes to the lives I have to collect or when the Risk Management team causes trouble for me on my duties.' I thought, making my way down the empty corridor and approaching Mr.Park's door.
Once in front of the door, I took a deep breath and before I could open the door, I heard my name being called. "Come in, L/n."
Opening the door, I stepped inside to the usual sight of him sitting at his desk doing his usual paperwork. "U-umm, I brought the reports like you'd asked, sir." I muttered, steeping closer into the room and shutting the door behind me.
"Good, you can place them right here on my desk." "Yes, sir." Following his directions, I placed the reports onto the desk and took a couple of steps back. There was a short silence before he spoke again. "Is there anything else, L/n?" "Yes....this might sound awkward, but why are you so nice to me?"
"That's a pretty vague question." "What I meant to ask is. everyone seems to think when you're around me, you're nicer." "Nicer?" "Yeah, like how you hand me all the easy escort cases and smile when only I'm around. An-"
"It's because I like you." Those five words stopped my train of thought. "Wait, what?" "I like you." "You like me?" "Yes" "As in platonically or romantically?" "Romantically." "Ohh, umm.... well, I like you too." "I know. I knew for quite some time."
'Huh? How'd he find out?' I thought to myself. "I didn't think I was being that obvious." "Same here, except I was trying to grab your attention." He said, a light blush dusting his stoic features. "Well, since we've gotten our feelings across, would you be willing to go on a date with me? Probably after our shift ends?" I asked, not making eye contact in case he rejected it.
Hearing the small squeak from his chair and his footsteps approaching me, I looked up slightly to find him standing right in front of me. Jung-gil leaned in closer to face, the feeling of his lips ghosting over mine.
"How about we go out now?" He whispered, pulling me in closer by the waist. "O-okay." Satisfied with that answer, Jung-gil placed a gentle kiss on my lips, only to have that moment interrupted by Jun-woong and Ryung-gu busting into the room.
"Oh, sorry, didn't mean to interrupt whatever you two got going on....we'll just go now..." Jun-woong spoke before rushing out the room. "See, I told you that he liked you." "Ryung-gu?" "Yes?" "If you don't leave in the next ten seconds, you'll be waking up in ditch somewhere far from Jumadeung, got it?" I threatened, my cheeks heating up in embarrassment. "Okay, no need to get violent." He replied, walking backwards and shutting the door afterwards.
"I am so sorry about that-" "Don't worry about it, darling. Now, don't we have that date to get to?" "Yeah, let's go."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Author's Note: Here you go, @kdrama-i-nation, I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed writing it. At the end, I kinda made Ryung-gu like a little prankster and Jung-gil more flirtatious instead of cold. Those are just my small head-canons for them. If any of you readers have any requests, go ahead and send them in. Our inbox is always open and inclusive. With that being said, Stay Classy~
