katniss more often than not has a cut, or multiple, across her right cheek, slim as papercuts but red & irritated — this is in cause to her habit of leaning her cheek into her bowstring when shooting, and in high-stakes, shooting so quickly, resulting in cuts from the fletching of her arrows. her mother used to fuss when her father returned her from the woods with crossed little scratches all over her cheek, and before the polishing after the 74th games there were a handful of silvery, thin scars clustered there, almost imperceptible unless you knew what to look for. she still bears cuts sometimes today, but she’s been careful enough that none have settled into scars yet.
