GOD yes!!! finally i see people talking about these things that have also bothered me!! I was gonna go off on wade's voice bu then i realized the addition to the post would be too long so i decided to make my own post on that specifically
Hard agree on the point about the humor! I really didnt find it funny when he says those swearwords that sound like theyre from 2013 (''holy fucking shitballs'' etc), he doesnt even swear that often in the comics?? Ryan fought tooth and nail for that R-rating which he should have but it seems they didnt know what else to do with it except gore, so they just chucked in random swearwords for characters so say (getting Colossus to say fuck in the 2nd movie; also Cable calling wade a cunt??? really? Cable wouldnt talk like that)
@spider-mand hit the nail on the head with the declawed comment! The movies have definitely washed him out a bit, took away some of his edges - he's less mean, less conflict-seeking, less impulsive, more mellow? He's also more established and normal when in the comics he's anything but - his life is a mess and all of his personal relationships are messy. In the movies, despite everything, his life is relatively okay while he has Vanessa.
Im guessing all of this was done to make him more likable to the general public but i dont think he should be so easy to root for. In the comics you ofc root for him as well, but you also see him do some very stupid and bad things - you disapprove but what makes you like him is that once he becomes aware of his issues - he makes an effort to do something about it. he's not an arrogant character in the sense that he believes everything he does is right - he points out so many times that he's done bad things during his life he's not proud of, his self-hate is clear, he's aware he acts like a douchebag and sabotages his own life because of his faults. I think more people should be more scared of him - Weasel, Al, other mercenaries in Sister Margaret's, the x-men hello??? In the comics almost all characters interact with him with caution - as if hes a loose canon, which they have every right to do, based on his reputation? Hes a crazy capable but also unpredictable and extremely violent which makes him a scary guy!
Also another issue i have with the movies is that they are too optimistic, yeah tragic things happened ofc, but the overall tone is optimistic. The genre is undoubtedly a comedy, and i think it should have been a dark comedy instead, or a gritty tragic movie with comedic elements.
Like for example, the first movie ended with the romantic ending about true love and whatnot. Why? Wade and Vanessa's relationship in the comics is nothing but messy, i honestly think they should have just left it at the fact that he abandonded her and that was it. The ending would have felt more real, raw and not so happy bc i think a big part of Wade's character and the comics is the weird balance between humor and tragedy. Sometimes life just goes to shit, this is who he is now and his life isnt great, its never been. Then they continue this dynamic in the second movie, w and v live together and even plan to have a child?? this is SO out of character for me, why would wade ever voluntarily become a parent when we know he would never think he is capable of this?? even before ellie's existence, this should be obvious, and when he meets her he can barely bring himself to say the word 'father'
not to end on a negative note - i agree that the movie did a lot of this right and ryans performance was good. they showed how vulnerable he is, that he has morals indeed and is gentle towards kids
The more Deadpool comics i read, the less i feel like Ryan Reynolds fits him and that makes me feel....odd, like kinda left out from all the love this casting is getting. He was really good as Wade Wilson in X-men Origins, his Weapon 11 is terrible and an insult to the character of Deadpool tho.
But when he got his own movie he was just Ryan Reynolds, and i know, i know "ofc he is, he's played by Ryan" sure but....that just feels off for me, and i wanted to know why, and i think i got it.
Firstly it's the way he talks, Ryan has this tone of voice that doesn't fit the way Wade usualy talks in the comics, his kinda high smooth sarcastic tone feels off to me. Partly because Wade doesn't sound like that at all, Wade has a very rough voice, sounding like Demi Moore, his voice sounds like wet gravel, according to Cable and Blind Al. Ellie, his daughter, said his voice sounds weird, whitch Wade said it's because of the scar tissue.
Also the way he talks, his jokes and the tone of his voice doesn't fit the DP energy. Fabian Nicieza, Deadpools co-creator and writer of most of his 90s appereances before Kelly wrote the first run, said he imaged Wade to sound like Denis Leary, whitch for the ones not aware, is a very unhinged and agressive sounding man, and it fits perfectly the way he talks.
Also Fox!Wade's humor isn't really the same as comics!Wade, movie Wade uses references, complicated swears and names with alot of sarcasm. Comics Wade meanwhile?
Not so much, he also doesn't even break the 4th wall as often usualy, some of those aren't even too obvious 4th wall breaks.
One thing i feel like the movies got right is Wades softness, he's a very emotional man, especialy when it comes to relationships and other people.
One thing the moves didn't quite get right is Wade and his violence problems, in his first comics he was fighting with his violence, his past, he was trying to be better after years of being a villian, and that change is often brought by his nee crush or love interest or idol, because he wants to be better for them, even if he usualy doesn't feel worthy of their love, yet he tries and tries.
There was a deleted scene in one of the movies where he and Vanessa were in Mexico and Wade lost it and killed the scamming doctor and it perfectly showed Wades issues.
His relationships were also all made simpler, Weasel is his fuctional friend, Ness is his girlfriend, Al is his funny roommate and friend. Back then Wade and his relationships weren't simple, he was like Moon Knight, he experimented, he wasn't very known, he was allowed to be odd and weird and out there. And i blame the game tbh, because now the movie was heavily influenced by what the internet thinks Deadpool is and the character is suffering for it now. Maybe i am just a jaded edgy 18yo but that's how i feel.
Now you're propably thinking what would my solution be, well i got a solution in mind, but you most likely won't wanna hear it...but i will still tell you in the next post.
#havent read many comics of his after 2015#and seeing as ive read multiple opinions from other people on them#im just kind of dreading them#give me back my 90s wade

Hello!! Can I ask some tips how to writee??? I love your writing <3
Oh you shouldn't have asked this because i will write an essay.
This is more for books rather than oneshots, but i feel like you can use this for oneshots too!
I'm not going to be one of those that say "you should read tons of books and plan every scene of your story on post it notes and put them on your wall" because that doesn't work for everyone. Not for me, anyway.
For me, what works is to have a "feeling" before I start. I get a feeling before I get the idea. I often get these feelings from watching movies or such, just the motivation/inspiration feeling. I don't know everything before starting to write. I have an idea of what I want the story to be about, and the rest will fall into place once I start to write.
Your first draft can be shit, it's okay. I have started a thing called Draft 0, that is supposed to just create a template that I can expand in the real draft, just so that I have something to follow. That makes it much, much easier to write a longer story. This draft 0 is 20 000 words for me. Not more, not less. You can choose how many words you'd like, but 20 000 is good for me, especially when i want my real drafts to be around 80 000. Chapter 0 should just have the important parts that get the story moving. Not any filler scenes or such. Just the functionality of the story. The rest, you'll figure out in the later drafts.
As for the actual text and paragraphs, I usually use synonyms websites to get a variety of words, because it isn't really flowy to use the same word over and over again. Switching up the length of the sentences really do work wonders too, alternating between longer and shorter ones. I am also a fan of show don't tell, because it lets the reader understand what the character is feeling rather than telling them directly what a character is feeling.
CHARACTERS
This is the more aestethic part, i guess? the vibes and the feels.
Characters are my favorite thing to create. I often don't plan them when I write, they tell me who they are throughout the story. I only put a few characteristics for them. If we take one of my characters from my favorite book I have, he was just labeled as a "cold boy that only shows his true side with his best friend" in draft 1. Now, in draft 4, he is more "stoic boy that doesn't want anyone to pity him, but feels secure enough with his best friend to show his vulnerable side and doesn't get mad at his best friend when he wants to help him, because he knows that he means well." So you don't have to know your characters from the start. That will solve itself once you write and get to know them.
I know that a few writers jump back and forth in the story when they're writing, leaving scenes blank with the thought that they'll come back and write them later. Personally, I find that harder. Because if you have written something that affects the character later on in the story and then suddenly jump back to a point before that happened, it feels hard to write that now that you have newfound knowledge about the character.
Don't be scared to give your character bad sides and flaws. It makes them more human and believable. I have multiple characters that do things I don't agree with, while still doing good things. It makes them more rounded, in my opinions.
I also love making these for my characters to see how they are, to see their sides come together? if that makes sense? It gives me a feel of what kind of people they are.
PINTEREST
Pinterest is my best friend, I am not joking. I make pinterest board for every single story I make, just so that I can get a feel of the story, how it'd look like, how it'd feel like. I'll show you some of my stories here. I know that there are a lot, i just wanted to show that you can make your storys vibe different, even if you have a lot. Some of these remind me of each other (I call them sibling books) but they are still their own because of the vibes ive given them!
same with spotify. I make playlist with songs that I listen to while writing these stories. That help with getting into that vibe when writing, which is good to keep the same vibes throughout the story! I also give every book a theme song that fits with the book, i don't know why haha it's just fun for me
the most important thing to remember is, how corny it may sound, is to have fun while writing! if it isn't fun, leave that idea and come back to it once you find motivation for it!

My latest DC Comic read is Batman: Fear State Saga.
I picked this one up because Jonathan Crane is the main antagonist and I love the awful little man. I wanted to see how the comics portrayed him.
I canāt say this is good comic, but I enjoyed it. The only apologies I can make for the length is that I enjoy characters that are awful people and this comic is filled with them.
Comic
Title: Batman: Fear State Saga
Author: James Tynion IV
Artist: Jorge Jimenez
Year: 2021
Overall Opinion
An interesting premise that falls flat but nonetheless has very interesting character moments.
The plot in general suffers because it doesnāt challenge Batman. For him, this is just another night of dealing with Gothamās bullshit. Thatās a valid angle in is own right, but the narrative plays out as dramatic moments that donāt land. You canāt have a grand success if you never feared defeat.
There are, however, fantastic character interactions. Any page Jonathanās on is generally a good page. I also enjoyed Sean and Simon, but I suspect those are more controversial.
The Peacekeeper-01 and Miracle Molly shorts are also very good, probably because theyāre introspective rather than grand plots. Characters seem to be Tynionās strong point.
Art
In general the art work is fantastic. No complaints there.
There is a puzzling portion of Batman #115 where the art style notably changes. I think it might be because the focus is on Molly, but if so it didnāt work. It had me flipping pages forward and back to figure out what was going on.
On the other hand, I really enjoy how in the Miracle Molly short the art style for Maryās life differs greatly from Mollyās. Good use of the medium to emphasize the storytelling.
General
Main Story
-I love the prominence of women through this story.
Most of the other DC comics Iāve read so far have only had one or two prominent women, typically in background supporting roles.
So having multiple women in this story, interacting with each other, is very refreshing. I hope more current comics follow this trend.
-āI believe in the new Gotham Cityā is a catchphrase throughout that strongly reminds me of āI believe in Harvey Dentā.
And just like the Harvey, the new Gotham City is doomed to failure because of the faults inherent in its foundations.
Gotham needs to avoid any movement where the motto starts with āI believeā.
-Bat symbols replace swear words. While cute, itās also silly. This is the 21st century; just put the damn swear words in.
-The FBI acquires Jervisā tech when heās comprehended.
This feels vaguely likely a conflict of interest. It certainly gives the FBI a good reason to want Jervis to break out.
-Arkham is outright called prison. So much for a mental hospital...
Montoya: āHe was a prison guard in the most corruptprison complex on the east coast! The word āArkhamā is shorthand for āpoorly run prisonļæ½ļæ½!ā
-The term ābat-familyā doesnāt seem right in universe. It works as a meta term, but I donāt see the characters ā especially not the members themselves ā referring to the bats as that.
At best Iād prefer a term like ābat clanā.
-I also feel they were poorly used.
There are numerous group of the bat family and theyāre frequently referenced throughout the story.
However, we see them actually doing very little. They donāt even get proper introductions. So having dramatic shots where everyone is present doesnāt feel earned. Why should we care about them in the context of this story?
They should have gone all in with giving the bat family roles or cut them out.
-Batman gets a few speeches that feel out of place.
Thereās the one where he and Molly talk on the way to the Unsanity Collective base about how Batman feels and the one at the end with Jonathan about change.
I like the concepts! However, they feel āhigh levelā, rather than personal. Itās how I would expect someone to describe a story rather than their life.
Iāll certainly take this over an emotionally constipated Batman, but I think they could have used a rewrite to make them more natural.
-Why is Jervis barefoot in Arkham? Why is everyone ALWAYS barefoot in Arkham?
-The Unsanity Collective feel odd in this story.
They wipe away traumatic memories so people can become their best selves. That on its own is debatable ā thereās an argument to be made that your memories make you who you are.
And Batman does challenge Molly on this when she tries to use the bomb to force it on everyone! He manages to talk her out of it because people can improve even with traumatic memories.
But he also allowed the Unsanity Collective to operate freely before the story and continues to do so after. He doesnāt consider them a threat to the city.
If Batman fundamentally agrees with the Unseen Collective I can maybe see him permitting to operate on the principle that people can choose their own paths, but Iād expect more tension with them than we see. It just seems out of place that Batman allows them to operate so freely when theyāre mind wiping people. That can be so easily abused.
Shorts
-The Peacekeeper-01 comic doesnāt quite fit between Fear State #1 and #2.
#1 ends with Sean freaking out and #2 picks up directly from there. The Peacekeeper-01 comic ends with Sean peacefully walking away from his fatherās pub.
-The Peacekeeper story does an excellent job of showing how deeply rooted corruption is in Gotham.
Sean watches his cop father beat to death another cop to prevent him from supporting the DA in taking down the (corrupt) commissioner.
Later they go out for treats and his father explains how controlling evil to keep it manageable is a good and honorable thing.
Fighting against corruption so ingrained into society is an uphill battle.
-The Miracle Molly comic hits hard for how mundane it is.
The antagonist is real life ā a spouse youāve disconnected from, in-laws you donāt get along with, an unfulfilling jobā¦
Thereās no one thing that pushes Mary over the edge. Itās just the unforgiving daily grind. And I think nearly every adult can sympathize with that.
-Itās a strange choice to put Poison Ivyās origin story in Gardenerās comic.
Iām curious if this is the first telling of it in current continuity, or if it conflicts with an existing telling.
Plot
-Simon Saint on Craneās work: āItās difficult to imagine creating a society trained to expect trauma ā whose fear has become so ingrained and irrational that your theory could tip them over.ā
Yeah, thatās Gotham. Iād call that Gotham on an average day, really. You donāt need to set this after the Joker war.
-āA-Dayā ā The gas attack on Arkham that Jonathan used to break out ā is frustratingly vague.
Itās blamed on the Joker, but Jonathan uses it to fake his death. Given Jonathan told Simon that his absence from Arkham would need to be hid from Batman to prevent his interference, itās not unreasonable to assume Simon was involved.
So did Simon do A-Day? Or did Jonathan take advantage of Jokerās attack?
If Simon performed A-Day and used Joker as the fall man, I doubt Joker is pleased. Youād think he have something to say about it. But he never shows up in the story.
And is Arkham gone? If so, will it be rebuilt?
Itās implied at the very end that Arkham was destroyed in the attack, but itās never made explicit.
-There is something very funny to me that Simonās solution to masked vigilantes is licensed superheroes.
Obviously the police canāt handle Gothamās costumed criminals. Some kind of superhero is necessary. Itās just a matter of who they report to.
(Has Gotham forgotten that SWAT exists?)
-Taking over Oracleās broadcast is a nice escalation of the plot. It shows old tricks arenāt the solution to this problem and that the villain is capable enough to beat the batsā tech expert.
However, itās never made clear who took over Oracleās broadcast.
I initially presumed Simon, but given how badly he falls apart I donāt think it was him. Also, thereās some evil laughter in one of the later broadcasts that isnāt really Simonās style.
That leaves Scarecrow. It fits his MO of spreading fear but Iām skeptical he has the technical finesse to pull it off.
This point is just.. dropped about halfway through. Youād think Oracleās tech operations being compromised would be a major plot point throughout, but apparently not. Thereās not even any resolution on if its fixed.
-Simonās positioning of the peacekeepers to the public is clever.
He acknowledges Batmanās achievements ā he took on the mob and much of the cityās corruption.
However, with his rise came the rise of costumed crime and he wasnāt enough to handle that. Hence the need for the peacekeepers.
(Again, is there a reason Gotham canāt implement a SWAT team? In some continuities theyāve had one.)
-The program's barely started and Simon's already creating a secret Peacekeeper. That's not promising.
-Batman gives Montoya a run down of the entire plot.
This would be more impressive if the story showed how he knew any of it. How does he know the Magistrate planted the bomb? Or that Peacekeeper-01 is dosed on fear toxin?
-Youād think Montoyaās line here is foreshadowing, but itās not: āThe people need to believe in something ā all together. Itās the only way to break them out of thisā¦ā
Waste of a very good story hook. That would have been a great resolution to the story ā inspiring people to overcome their fear by giving them something stronger to believe in. Itās always been a theme in Batman stories that heās meant to inspire hope.
-Bruce is furious at Simon for giving Scarecrow power. Interestingly, if not for that he could have seen a future for them in Gotham.
Batman fighting magistrate robots: āThere is no future for the magistrate in Gotham city. There might have been if you hadnāt been so careless.
āYou gave one of the most dangerous minds this city has ever seen more power than heās ever had before.
āThis city is Scarecrowās laboratory now. Weāre all his test subjects.
āAre you listening, Saint?!
āI will make sure that this city knows whose fault that isā¦
...Even if it kills me.ā
I wish this was followed up on more. What place could Batman see for the magistrate in Gotham? Did he welcome the additional support but oppose the execution?
-In Bruceās mind, he sees himself as Batman.
Minhkhoa, however, sees himself in a suit ā but still wearing the mask.
-The Unsanity Collective built a machine that absorbs trauma and didnāt expect Scarecrow to attempt to steal it?
They might actually be insane.
-Sean I know youāre being mind controlled but please donāt let the mad scientist experiment on you just because he called you a hero.
-The Unsanity Collective being vulnerable to Scarecrow because both of their mind tech is built off of Jervisā work is well done. Both of those facts are established well before the reveal.
Also, as much as Jonathan wanted credit at the start of this story for his work I feel Jervis should also be submitting a claim. Everyone is using his work. Man could be rich if he got royalties.
-Jonathan shows off his plan to Batman, then promptly throws a hissy fit when Batman attempts to interfere. Jonathan, how did you expect that to go?
-Sean shooting Jonathan is rather funny. And then casually saying heāll kill Simon, take his position, and possibly keep Jonathan around if he survives.
Everyone wants Jonathan and no one wants to actually deal with him.
Understandable.
-The resolution with Simon is very abrupt. The bat family just show up on his ship and say heās being arrested.
Given how major a player heās been in the story, I think this should have been fleshed out more.
-Poison Ivy is very calm about reuniting with herself.
That feels very convenient and because the plot demanded in it. Why would āQueen Ivyā whose all cynicism want to reunite with innocent Poison Ivy?
-Batman is wrong about Sean in their final fight: āHeroes save other people. Youāve only ever wanted to save yourself.ā
Sean literally lost an arm and a leg saving two nurses during A-Day. Heās a shitty person, but I do think he genuinely wants to do good. Heās justā¦ Had extremely poor guidance on what good is and is only starting to realize that.
He went from his corrupt cop father for guidance to Silicone Valley tech bro Simon to the Scarecrow. Jonathan is not qualified to mentor anyone in ethics.
Itās an odd thing for Batman to say, as this story pushes the narrative that people can change and choose to do better. Ghost-Maker is a primary supporting character. Sean has already shown willingness to sacrifice himself for others and Batman dismisses him outright.
-Itās a solid twist that Molly wants to set off the bomb as an Unsanity bomb.
The resolution, however, falls flat for me. Batman gives Molly his communicator so she can hear all the positive press about the night wrapping up. This is supposed to be touching but I donāt feel it.
I think itās because of Batmanās lack of inner turmoil. This has been a long night, but it hasnāt challenged him internally. He still holds the same beliefs at the end of the night that he does at the start; itās just been a longer night than usual of putting down crime for him.
To make it work Batman would also need to be swayed by the positive news. Perhaps Molly could have spent the night trying to sway Batman to the Unsanity Collectiveās vision. He debates her, but is visibly wavering. When she tries to set off the bomb she tells him she knows he sees her vision; he shakes his head and puts the communicator on speaker. They listen to it together and Molly dismantles the bomb.
Batmanās the viewpoint character, so he should experience some growth during the story. Mollyās a good vehicle to do it and the bombās a fantastic opportunity. The writing just didnāt take advantage of it.
-Batman WOULD NOT take off his cowl in public. Iāll assume Molly knows his true identity, but Jonathan and Sean are RIGHT THERE and they do not.
-Jonathan agrees to behave when Batman takes him to the asylum so they can speak on the way over. Rather sweet. The Rogues want their bonding time, damn it.
Even more touching is Batman giving Jonathan a mask when he asked. I suppose Batman understands the importance of them.
I would love to hear the therapists opinion on it.
-How the fuck can Molly do time for other members of the Unsanity Collective? Does Gotham even pretend to follow the rest of US law?
-Iām glad Poison Ivy calls Garten out on creating a seed of her. That was an extremely creepy violation of her autonomy.
-Batman says Jonathan hasnāt evolved, but that isnāt true.
Jonathan normally uses fear toxin. He doesnāt use any for this entire story; he uses tech Jervis developed that Jonathan adapted for his own purposes.
I appreciate that Batman is trying to encourage Jonathan to move past his obsession with fear or at least redirect it, but he can do that while acknowledging what Jonathan has already accomplished.
Characters
Jeremiah Arkham
-Simon bribed Jeremiah for private conversation with Jonathan. Huh. Disappointing.
Ethics aside, youād think Jeremiah would know this would end terribly. No āprivate conversationā with a Rogue can have a happy ending for Gotham.
-According to Jonathan, Jeremiah is also always listening.
Given Jeremiah runs Arkham Asylum, thatās just practical.
-Credit to Jeremiah: He put Sean on probation for beating the shit out of Jervis.
Strike against Jeremiah: He should have fired Sean on the spot.
-So is Jeremiah dead or not? Itās never stated if he died during A-Day.
Jonathan Crane
-Jonathan thinks Jervis is smart! āHe is a strange man. Childish, but roughly six times smarter than any of the usual costumed coterie in Gotham.ā
-To create a fear state Jonathan will require āa good deal of burlap, straw, and rope.ā Lol. Obviously Jonathan will be doing his lab work in costume, who doesnāt?
-Jonathan wants credit for his work. Heās sick of others using his research and taking the credit.
I wish more had been done with this. Given itās the intro for the saga, youād think it be a theme throughout. Maybe what drives Jonathan to turn against Simon, or at least referenced again at the end. But no, this is the only mention.
-Jonathan never sits in the conversation with Simon. He stands, walks around, crouches, leans over the table, but never sits.
Itās probably just artistic choice, but I read it as never viewing Simon as an equal. Sitting would imply this is a business conversation between two men of the same statute and Jonathan never considers Simon on par with him.
-I love that Jonathan has different speech bubbles when heās the Scarecrow. Thatās some extreme compartmentalization.
-Jonathanās foremost priority is science, but if it incidentally causes some good heās not opposed. Itās just not a priority.
Scarecrow on putting Gotham into a fear state: āBut I hope on some level you recognize the truth. That what comes next is me at my most altruistic. Thatās not why Iām doing it, of course. Iām doing out of scientific curiosity. But I sincerely believe Gotham will be better on the other side.ā
-Iām cackling. Even before he goes Scarecrow, the papers are already refusing to publish Jonathanās papers on fear.
-Jonathanās speech to Minhkhoa is quite passionate. He also looks like a dork during it.
I want to see this man in an anime. Youād know heād have the time of his life going over the top anime style.
-Of course Jonathan likes to refer to a straw man of abstract fear as a scarecrow.
-Jonathan may actually believe what he tells Sean: āIām not a bad guy. Iām a doctor. Itās the city thatās bad. And I have the cure.ā
Sean: āWhatās the cureā¦?
Jonathan: āYou are, my boy. You are.ā
I think Jonathan may be genuinely fond of Sean. Not as a person, per se, but as a successful experiment.
If nothing else, Iām sure heāll cackle with glee and second hand pride when he watches Sean give Batman hell in the future.
-Jonathan enjoys his games with Batman. All the Rogues do.
Jonathan: āIāll admit, I forgot how fun this is. Keeping you outfoxedā¦ I try to stay above the fray when I talk to my Arkham compatriotsā¦ But I canāt lie. Itās a fun game.ā
-Jonathan bounces right back after failures. A true scientist ā he just found one more way to not achieve his goal.
Jonathan as heās transported to an asylum: āNo. The fear was always there. I was just trying to do something productive with it. Next time Iāll do a better job.ā
-Of course he tested his fear bomb on the handlers Sean assigned him because heās a āresponsible scientistā.
Jonathan, you awful little gremlin of a man.
Sean Mahoney
-Iām probably one of a handful of people that genuinely like Sean. Even the narrative seems to expect you to dislike him.
Heās objectively awful at the startā he defends his fatherās corruption and he beats the shit out of Jervis when heās an Arkham guard.
However, he does save the two nurses during A-Day. And he says throughout that he wants to save Gotham.
For most of the story Sean is malleable. He follows his father, then Simon, then Jonathan. He slowly becomes disillusioned with each,
Itās not until the end that he really comes into his own and starts to define himself. (Was he ever deprogrammed from Scarecrowās influence?)
I think thereās potential there. Most likely as a villain, but I could see him as a hero with some work. Well, a lot of work.
-Sean: āIāll show them. I deserve this! I paid my dues! This city owes me!ā
Even on fear toxin, thatās a worrying level of entitlement. Maybe especially on fear toxin. Seanās deepest fearā¦ is not getting what he thinks heās owed?
Simon Saint
-Simon is awful. Itās like he objectively knows what the right thing is, but canāt bring himself to follow through on it.
Simon: āWe must have compassion for Sean, because heās a young man being manipulated by a monster. We are a force for good in Gotham city. We want to save him, because we want to save everyone, and bring order to this city. But should that not be possibleā¦
āThe Peacekeeper-X armorās adaptive nanotechnology cost 500 million dollars more than what Peacekeeper-01 is working with. Your weapons will tear through Seanās armor like itās tissue paper. And if this goes south, that is precisely what I expect you to do.ā
-Simon is crying as he orders the Peacekeeper-X armor destroyed, but does it anyway.
Then he tries to delude himself Ricardo might be alive.
Does this man have any experience with combat?
-Simon does not handle stress well.
Simon after Ricardoās death: āGotham city is insane. It is filled with dangerous criminals, and they all should be destroyed. This city should be wiped off the face of the Earth!ā
Simon as Sean and Batman fight: āI donāt understand. I spent so much money. Why isnāt this working?!ā
Misc
-I can see why Ghost-Maker is so popular. Heās quite funny and plays off Batman well.
-Shout out to Montoya for being sensible. She knows how dangerous Jonathan is with his words and wanted him gagged.
-Garten doesnāt do much, but I enjoyed her. Sheās another character thatās well aware of how sheās viewed and accepts her.
I do not, however, trust her. That business with Poison Ivy was not aboveboard.

I think part of the problem I have (and this may be an unpopular opinion) is all the hopes and opinions and ideas people (fans) have about the new season. And I donāt just mean things like the āmustache = obvious gay Eddieā thatās happening. But thoughts on Bobby, his and Athenaās living situation, Gerrard as captain, let alone Buck, Eddie, and others.
I know a lot of spec is just for fun, but some people take it quite serious. And I know Iām newer to this fandom but sometimes I read serious takes and go āā¦.but that would never actually happen?! I know many of us donāt trust Tim and the writers but realistically that would never be a storyline on a tv show.ā¦thatās a fanfic.ā
So I canāt blame you for your pessimism or want to avoid spec. I hope we donāt get a lot of bts stuff either too, because I feel like fans will be trying to (over)analyze everything to figure things out. Only to likely be disappointed because I donāt trust these writers to write/do anything half as creative, original or logical as fans come up with. Expectation is the enemy and Iām afraid a lot of fans have theirs set too high for this season already
anon i have disgraced you by leaving this burried in the inbox and i feel awful šš
i think fandom in general (and i mean any fandom not just 9-1-1) have this tendency to blur the line between cautious optimism/spec and actually convincing themselves of something happeningā¦
i think a lot of people (and if you are one of these people this is NOT a dig at you) still want to have faith that the writers are actually going somewhere with the story, and they do so by speculating and putting actual thought into what the overarching storyline could be but unfortunately after 6 seasons of waiting, iām getting tired of the whole thing being dragged out.
itās no longer a will they/wonāt they between the characters for me because multiple times theyāve reached the point where they donāt need anymore of that build; the only will they/wonāt they is in terms of the writing team actually going somewhere rather than continuing to bait us
i have no issue with spec/theorizing (i may not wanna see it but i just filter out the spec tags) but my issue lies with some of the more popular buddie blogs having this whole āi can sense that buddie is happeningā and then treating people who are validly apprehensive towards getting our hopes up like weāre brainless idiots who donāt know what weāre talking about
even though we literally went through the same thing of buddieblr being like ās7 is our year i can FEEL it there is no way they arenāt going canonāā¦.. just for them to not go canon bc the writers (yet again) changed their minds last minute when they got an early renewal and realized āoh- we donāt actually have to commit anymore, we can just keep baiting snd dragging them alongā and they technically canāt call it queerbaiting anymore bc buckās bi now!ā
like everything surrounding this season has been screaming to me (NOT anything from oliver and ryanļæ½ļæ½ļæ½ ive spoken before about how i think they are where weāre at in terms of being strung along by the writers every season) that we are just being baited again.
and as far as the over-analyzing, iāve seen so many people saying things like āomg oliver and ryan posting candids/photos and tagging each other buddie is obviously happeningāā¦ā¦. as if oliver and ryan arenāt friendsā¦. like i fear the two of them posting eacg other doesnāt really mean much if anything when theyāve done that throughout their friendship.
and just because there are some deranged people on the internet spewing hate about them being friends doesnāt mean that their posting is a sign of anything either other than the fact that theyāre probably blocking the lunatics and posting each other anywayā¦. itās not some gotcha to anyone in the fandom, itās not a sign that buddie is coming, itās two castmates being friends, and doing things that friends do all the time
overall, like i said, i have no problem with people (other than myself) engaging in spec and at this point the people who are getting their hopes up will only have themselves to blame if weāre let down againā¦ my issue mainly lies with some of the bigger blogs being dicks to people raising valid concerns over the new season and not trusting the writers when the writers havenāt done anything to earn that trust; in fact having only done things to the detriment of that trust.
anyway, sorry for the super delayed and super long response, anon šš iāve been neglecting my ask box lately in lieu of a spike in temu stans sending me hate yet again but i was just scrolling through and noticed this one and wanted to make a response!

oh sorry, also are there any comics i should avoid completely because the gp recognises them as being completely ooc or just not a sensical comic for supergirl?
and i was thinking of collecting the series of graphic novels that start with supergirl vol 1 - reign of the cyborg supermen. is that a good comic run? i have no clue when it comes to kara haha.
also, one last thing i promise! what is kara's true personality? like as kara danvers but also as supergirl. do they contrast each other? is she a geek or is she still just as powerful but in different ways when she's kara not sg? if that makes sense
again im so sorry for all the questions, kara is a character that really intruiges me and i really want to know the canon version of her. (unfortunately i loved the cw version of her, no matter what any one says) but i know that's nkt exactly correct.
im so sorry if ive bothered you, and i will be eternally greatful if you manage to answer my questions. thank you so much!
YES THERE ARE. Anything you see written by either Jeph Loeb or Joe Kelly should be avoided at all costs. This includes Superman/Batman (2003) #8-13 and Supergirl (2005) #0-19. Basically anything written between the years 2004 through 2007 should be avoided like the plague. The early 2000s was truly an evil era for Kara... she was oversexualized to hell and back and really didn't have any sort of characterization beyond "sexy teenager". The only thing that I think is somewhat worth reading from those years is Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes (2004) #16-36, but even that isn't super necessary if you don't want to slog through it just for her.
Aside from that.... this is just my controversial opinion, but I REALLY dislike everything Mariko Tamaki has written for Kara. This includes Supergirl: Being Super (2017) and the Supergirl Special (2023). I've just found that she has a very boring and uninspired take on Kara... Nothing she's written gives off the vibe that she's actually read any of Kara's comics. Being Super specifically irks me because it's literally just "what if Kara... was Clark!", and that's just not remotely interesting to me... Obviously nothing she's written is on par with the truly heinous shit that Loeb and Kelly were doing with Kara, so I don't want it to seem like I'm putting them on the same level! A lot of people DO like her Supergirl comics, I'm just not one of them.
Steve Orlando's run of Supergirl (2016)āwhich includes Reign of the Cyborg Supermenāwas written specifically to appeal to fans of the CW show, so I imagine that if you like CW Supergirl, you'll also probably like that comic. I don't necessarily want to say that you shouldn't read it (since you like CWSG), but it's not something I recommend since the way that Kara's characterized there is quite different than any other comic version of herāpast or present. If you do want to read something from Supergirl (2016) I recommend Marc Andreyko's run! It's spans from #21 to #36 (although I don't suggest reading past #33) and is collected in Supergirl vol. 1: Killers of Krypton and Supergirl vol. 2: Sins of the Circle.
As for her personality:
Kara is very headstrong and stubbornāshe doesn't back down from her beliefs even if it means coming into conflict with her authority figures (like Clark, her mother, her employers, etc.).
She's also incredibly compassionate and protectiveāeven in her early days as Supergirl when humans would reject her, she wasn't directly scornful of them and she'd still go out of her way to use her powers to keep them safe.
Relating to that, she's also very empatheticāthere's been multiple storylines where Kara sees herself and her experience in the person she's helping, and it inspires her to do whatever she can to help them.
She's often driven by her anger and devastation of what happened to Krypton. The fury and nearly inconsolable despair that she feels for the mass death that was caused by Krypton's destruction is such a huge driving force for everything she does.
In regards to her interests: they change pretty frequently between continuities, but Pre and Post Crisis Kara was depicted as being very artistic in a lot of different areas! Kara used to have a passion for acting: she went to drama school, starred in two films, and went on to star in a soap opera. She was also very into fashion and used to wear so many cute outfits :'). Additionally, in Post Crisis continuity, she was a painter and even contemplated joining the Art Guild on New Krypton just like her father did. Recently she hasn't been shown to be that artistic and instead has an interest in history (Kryptonian history, that is). Before Krypton's destruction she was invited to study at the Society of Historical Science, and she actually preferred history to applied science. She does have a lot of scientific understanding (both because she's apart of the House of El and because Krypton is so scientifically advanced), but I've always loved that she's shown a consistent interest in the humanities rather than science!
As a quick aside, Kara has had a couple different human identities over the years: she was Linda Lee Danvers (sometimes just referred to as Linda Danvers) during Pre Crisis continuity, and that was her most fleshed out and meaningful identity imo since it lasted for around 26 years. During Post Crisis she briefly went by Linda Lang, and then in the Rebirth continuity she'd go by Kara Danvers to match the CW show. All that to say, she really doesn't differ that much in personality when she's in her human identity than when she's Supergirl! Aside from pretending that she doesn't have powers, she's still just as incredibly headstrong and compassionate and protective when she's [insert human ID here] as she is when she's Supergirl.
Okay now I'm just going to drop a few reading guides / comic recommendations that I've made here if you're interested!
Ultimate Supergirl Reading Guide Supergirl Storyline Recommendations Pre Crisis Supergirl Recommendations
#asks#kara zor el#i already said this in my last answer but i promise asking me about supergirl doesn't bother me at all!#i love yapping about her <3

long meditation on jade and dave's relationship - part 1
here's a three-part heavy homestuck meta. took me about 3 days to scrobble together and format and everything
part 2 part 3 cooking
i apologize in advance for the disorganization of my thoughts. after writing it i realized this is probably one of the clearest glances into how my mind thinks associatively so everything relates in some way to something else in here. the foundations for my thoughts might be invisible to others because they canāt see the connections ive built upon but you can probably see them here, and that strong foundation is also why i care so much about them and why i chose to lay it all out. sometimes i feel like i have Got to get this tangled associative web out of my head and into some form of writing so other people can be like, āoh so This is why you have so much to sayā and can just. see into my head and where it all comes from for me. people have expressed interest and the general opinion tends to be that people like hearing my thoughts a lot so yeah. pov you are in my brainwebs. seatbelts everyone get on the magic school bus in that bitch
some time ago i saw this post i saw as i was going through florals jade tag again. my homestuck hyperfixation flared up again and ive been hyperfocused on dave and jade and particular just absolutely entering these monotropic black holes over them and turning them around at different angles and looking at discussions and what people thought both now and in the past and now that im older i can appreciate them even more. ive always been a fan of dave and jade both, but i cant even lie dave has my whole heart so maybe im biased as well. but i like to believe that regardless of my liking for dave and interest in not even x-ray scanning him just straight up 3D mri scanning him and rotating him in my head that my argument is still very reasonable. i just understand his psychology a lot
i want to preface this by saying i absolutely love floral and im so glad sheās on the hsbc team because i know she can do jade harley justice. one of the best jadesters fr. we all come into media analysis with different personal experiences and perspectives, and i understand this was from her perspective as someone who had run ins with dumb boys and relates a lot to jade which is why she can put so much love into her <3 i just found myself disagreeing with some of the arguments that she presented in that post just as a peer who also read the comic from my own perspective. keep in mind i also love jade to bits and want the best for her
so yea this isnāt a targeted post at all. it just got the juices flowing and inspired me to actually write my pre-existing thoughts down and i used it as a springboard for them
i think it ended up being pretty insightful overall especially because i was stoned as fuck writing it and ive come to realize being stoned amplifies and improves the output of my deeply inwardly associative thought processes tenfold. or maybe weed just changes how significant it feels. maybe a little of both
part 1: on using davesprite as a basis for interpreting jade's relationship with all daves
i love what hussie does with alternate versions of characters and. itās one of the coolest things about homestuckās characterization. like floral quoted:
ā¦ we see that Jack is a simple man, no matter what name he goes by. He is, if not much else (and heās not), impatient and violent. We only got the briefest glimpse into these qualities when we were first introduced to him on Derse. But now we get to spend much more time with him, albeit in the form of a completely different character. This is another bit of sneaky utility provided by this intermission tangent. It serves as an arc to help indirectly characterize the villain of the early acts. Having multiple copies of a character operating in totally different circumstances turns out to be a great stealth characterization tactic, and it gets used much more aggressively later in the story. In fact, it proves to be inseparable from one of the storyās most essential themes. (Hussieās Intermission commentary)
so i agree in principle and think the alt self thing is fucking brilliant
however, i disagree with the argument itās supporting.
So, not the same character, but if switched, I would go out on a limb and say that Dave would experience all the same issues as Davesprite did, but without the ābirdā part acting as an easy explanation. That doesnāt make Dave responsible but it does speak volumes to how their personalities respond to each other, insinuates that a relationship involving any Dave would end badly for Jade and that āRealā Dave indeed has Some Issues To Deal With.
i don't agree that dave and davesprite should be compared in this context. yes they are splinters of the same character and floral is right on the money in that canon deflecting the relationship failing on "bird issues" doesn't really explain anything meaningful, but i do not think its the case that all of jadeās relationships with dave are doomed to fail because of what we saw with jade and davesprite.
yes, if switched, dave strider would be practically identical to davesprite since they were the same exact person until a branch in the timeline
however, it's the unique things davesprite has been through that made him like this. davesprite has baggage that dave doesn't. a timeline where john was tricked into fighting his denizen early and died and jade couldn't get in on time and was presumably wiped out dinosaur style on earth. with alt future dave's year-worth of knowledge, gear, loot, and experience, he rescinded his player status and "realness" as a human person to be a game guide for his naive past self right before the timeline split in order for himself and his friends to continue existing.
that would mess anyone up mentally. it's no wonder he's jaded, no pun intended. he's depressed as shit and bitter and probably has trauma issues unrelated to his bro, though they do compound on it. yes they both experienced bro's abuse but i'm talking about the differences between alpha timeline dave and davesprite; right now im not going to talk about things that are the same about them prior to the timeline split because it applies to them both so it's redundant.
essentially what's setting them apart is their experiences playing sburb, their chronological age (alt future dave/davesprite had been making timeloops over a span of four months and he says that in total the time from his chronological perspective is close to a YEAR in sburb grinding shit out before he goes back), their relationship to their friends and how their friends see them and how they see themselves, their ontological natures as beings, what their purposes are.
davesprite had his ontological status as a person and purpose changed. he assumed he'd be the one playing and doing important main shit in the alpha timeline with all his friends but then it turns out that wasn't the case due to the events that went down in his timeline. and becoming a sprite solidly changed his degree of existence. davesprite's best friend john asking if he can talk to "the real dave" is when i think he realized just how fucked up his existence as a person has become despite him doing pretty much everything for everyone for nearly a YEAR before the alpha timeline was even able to get properly started. if davesprite didnāt exist, nobody would have (john needed to live to do ectobiology). davesprite knew this and weaponized it against john who john treated as a secondary, lesser dave. so of course heās kind of an asshole. itās like his efforts and sacrifices meant squat to the people he considered his best friends because they didnāt experience it. to john he just suddenly appeared from the future and became a sprite.
this is heavy shit for davesprite that alpha timeline dave does NOT have to go through and it did change him in ways that cannot be said about alpha timeline dave. this is not a universal dave experience. so while itās true that dave has the capacity of act like davesprite under those exact circumstances, alpha timeline dave didnāt undergo those that led to davespriteās more miserable traits. therefore i donāt think itās fair to conflate jadeās failed relationship with davesprite in particular as informing of how most of jade and daveās relationships would unfold, because davesprite has been in exceptionally tragic circumstances, coming to terms with the state of his own existence. the last thing davesprite needs is romance. alpha timeline dave does not carry this burden.
Everyone believed that what was creating the dissonance wasnāt a central part to Daveās character but an aftereffect of Bird Syndrome. Which you canāt blame them for because thereās nothing that would lead them to think differently. Every character besides Dirk is completely in the dark about Broās abuse and Dave stated heād probably never tell any of the Betas. Which is fine, no oneās owed to know somebodyās baggage. But when you donāt give people a means to understand what youāre going through, especially when it leads you to hurt them, its only inevitable everyoneās going to be confused and going to come to conclusions using what they do know.
rebuttal to this: as i said earlier i donāt buy the whole bird issues thing and i get the handwaviness about being fused with a bird being johnās explanation for davespriteās bullshittery. however i think itās important to mention that john and jade both question if becoming a sprite might have had something to do with his change.
being fused with a bird never bothered him, as jade says. it was all the other baggage that came with the prototyping.
this includes playing the game for way longer than anyone else and mindlessly grinding from the ground up for about a year, then turning himself into a game construct and having his ontological level of existence as the platonic ideal form of dave strider lowered in the eyes of his friends.
JOHN: like what? JADE: its hard to explain JADE: just some slight differences in personality i guess JOHN: he still raps sometimes. JADE: yes... JADE: so? JOHN: i just thought i would mention that. JADE: ok i will admit i cant really tell if his rapping style has changed JOHN: trust me, it hasn't. JADE: i dont know if the differences are because he is a sprite JADE: or because he lived for a while in a different timeline... (p.4733)
JOHN: why is he such a basket case? he's like regular dave, but like, aloof enigma edition. JOHN: maybe it's because he's part bird? i think becoming a bird and a sprite did something weird to him. JADE: i dont think being a bird ever bothered him JADE: like i said... its all more complicated than that JOHN: normal dave was so much more level headed. JOHN: i have to admit, i spend a lot of time wondering what he and rose are up to. JADE: me too JOHN: ehh... JOHN: maybe it's for the best he broke up with you. JADE: why? JOHN: well, what kind of future do you think you would have with him? JOHN: he's a sprite. like really, what even is a sprite? how long do they live? will he still be around if we win the new game we are allegedly trying to get to? JADE: i dont know (p.5294)
as for the bro abuse thing, i canāt tell if floralās position here is that davesprite is fucked up and had a failed relationship with jade because of broās abuse, and that dave would also necessarily have failed relationships with jade because he had the same experiences and also doesnāt tell anybody? the wording there is kind of vague and can be interpreted in different ways but thatās how i interpreted it.
they are right that broās abuse is something dave keeps to himself. but remember that dave has also deluded himself about it to cope. he doesnāt know what to think of it himself. both alpha timeline dave and davesprite have this baggage, but we explore it more with alpha timeline dave.
i know dave said in the post-retcon timeline when having a conversation with dirk that he could never tell karkat all of this or any of the betas about his abuse. but i still find this pesterlog interesting and i want to put a spotlight on it. even while dave was still chugging that copium, jade was the person he was closest to opening up about the nature of his relationship to his bro at this point. remember this is quite early on in the comic and he didnāt have 3 years on the meteor to contemplate it yet when he said this to her, his bro had just died at this point
GG: anyway dave im really sorry about your bro/dad GG: you were pretty close with him right? TG: meh it was a pretty bizarre relationship by any standard TG: fightin off wave after wave of face pumicing puppet ass every day TG: always being on guard for stealth attacks in the middle of the night while getting up to go to the fucking bathroom GG: heheh TG: but i guess it all sorta amounted to some vague unspoken semblance of kinship TG: if thats a thing TG: like if honor among thieves is something then lets call it camaraderie among ironic rapping roof ninjas TG: but thanks GG: sure TG: i thought about taking his sword TG: when i was there TG: but i couldnt TG: couldnt really bring myself to try to pull it out it was too weird GG: dave we have to stop him!!!!! TG: what GG: jack! GG: he shouldnt get away with this TG: you think (p.3204)
even if heās in denial about it, deciding to point out the positivity he can rationalize about it to avoid spending too much time thinking deeply about it (it makes him uncomfortable), heās getting closer to acknowledging the truth here that shit wasnāt normal, about it being ābizarreā and you can tell hes being genuine here when he thanks jade for her concern about his loss
dave then continues talking about his thoughts/feelings on the situation after jade says āsureā, as if he took her concern as an invite to open up about his thoughts even when itās something vulnerable for him that he tried putting on false bravado in front of terezi about. jade then abruptly changes topic to whatās to be practically done about these tragediesādave was still on the topic of his bro and she changed the topic to jack noir without clarifying, hence he goes āwhatā
this is interesting because terezi tried to get something out of him about this and was met by riddly puzzlecock and false bravado but heās pretty straight up about his current feelings with jade. basically it really depends on the person dave is talking to.
in this specific argument, floral approaches grimbark jade solely from the position of her being uninhibited which is true in many ways, but grimbark jade is also quite nefarious and not in her right mind. i think that even if jade were unihibited and spoke her mind, she wouldnāt have it in her push the mayor into lava to get dave to fight her. thats the evil. floral does acknowledge this in a separate post though, but itās not really touched on in her argument im discussing. i also want to reiterate that even though it might seem like im violently ripping this post limb from limb its really just something to bounce my pre-existing thoughts off of. this is all written with civility towards and respect for floral
even roxy says something about thisāthat the schtick doesnt suit her. like it doesnt feel like something sheād have the natural capacity to really be without some external influence
ROXY: so alt grannydaughter english ROXY: whyre u part dog + evil lookin JADE: DO NOT CALL ME THAT!!! ROXY: what JADE: my surname is harley not english JADE: but you may refer to me as jade, or ma'am if you are feeling especially nervous and deferential JADE: which as it turns out is the way you should be feeling about me, ALWAYS >:B ROXY: LOL!!! JADE: lol WHAT ROXY: jade i am in no way buying that ur normally this pompous and tyrannical ROXY: the shtick rly doesnt suit you its so obvious (p.6291)
so i donāt think everything jade says here should be taken to heart about her real feelings or how she would express them if she was being genuine as her normal self. we know jade can get mad but i think weāre giving her evil possession a little too much credit
thatās why i was personally disappointed in grimbark jade when homestuck was ongoing, is it felt like it didnt really give us anything? it was like empty calories while just waiting for the regular jade to come back which she never did. it is interesting to look at in retrospect to see if thereās anything there butā¦grimbark jade isn't exactly a reliable narrator. i guess none of them are but like, especially not grimbark jade. if i canāt separate whatās genuinely jade under this mess from what isnāt then whatās the point?
like for example this was left out of floralās argument when showing this part, but in the comic grimbark jade tells dave that heās āmore messed up inside than davespriteā ā¦. right after dave wouldnt comply with her demands to fight her and doesnt want to fight lord english. thatāsā¦not really telling about anything at all for either of them. jade is evil and if things dont go the way sheās programmed to get them to go sheās gonna flip her lid. this is what i mean about her not being in her right mind
JADE: the fact is youre going to have to rely on those powers if you want to stand any chance against a lord of time JADE: it is safe to expect he can only be challenged by someone with a similar command over the aspect DAVE: why is that safe to expect DAVE: where are all these presumptions coming from DAVE: if you can use swords why dont you take the welsh cueball sword and fight him yourself DAVE: i bet you could fuck him up DAVE: youre probably even more extra strong now that youve succumbed to the bark side DAVE: did you ever think about that JADE: dave i am perfectly aware of the awesome powers granted to me by the bark side JADE: it does not matter JADE: i cant be the one to wield your sword against english JADE: it has to be you JADE: it is the will of the empress, and thats final DAVE: the empress can suck it DAVE: i have no intention of fighting him DAVE: and this isnt even me pulling more lame self aware reluctant hero junk DAVE: i am just straight up not going to do it DAVE: see thats not reluctance its just petulant refusal on my part DAVE: reluctant hero shit is when the guys like aw shucks i dunno if i wanna but deep down we all know he really does DAVE: but i really dont DAVE: why should i DAVE: i dont give a damn about lord english or his nebulous atrocities out in nowherespace DAVE: what kind of villain is someone you never met who hardly did anything evil to you or your friends directly DAVE: or even to anyone in your universe for that matter other than through some vague insidious influence DAVE: who even is this guy and why should i hate him DAVE: am i really supposed to be pissed off at a green muscle monster i never met DAVE: cause i aint pissed off at no muscle monster DAVE: hell wasnt he in some ass backwards way responsible for us existing in the first place? DAVE: or all of humanity for that matter?? DAVE: maybe i should thank him before chopping him up via welshscalibur JADE: jeez you sure have some issues JADE: honestly it has become very tiresome listening to this sort of thing JADE: i thought davesprite had problems JADE: his issues i could kind of understand JADE: i thought you might be different, being the alpha dave and all JADE: but no JADE: you might be even more messed up inside than he was! DAVE: what DAVE: why are you dragging that guy into this (p.6385 / 6386)

ARCANE S2 - WOW, and the online discourse
Damn. We are here. We are really here at the end. I have.... SO many thoughts.. but in their own way.. there is so much buzzing around that i cant even think of where to start or hear a single thought above the rest. For anyone who was sad i havent posted.. if there even is such a person out there, im sorry about that. I watched all three acts of season 2 as they came out to the minute, stayed up every night to see them immediately. However, each act left me... in a state of shock almost. So many different directions i couldnt have predicted in the moment. so much to process. I was lurking, watching the discussions happen.. and honestly? I was so surprised by the discourse online. People being so much more... competitive and confrontational with their opinions.. rather than having healthy discussions it felt more like battles and allegiances.. which has honestly been disappointing to me and made me feel hesitant towards posting my own thoughts. Ive watched the episodes on repeat multiple times, certain scenes anywhere from 15-20 times now. Rewatched the first season before act 3 and debating on rewatching the entire thing again from start to finish. So much to digest. I suppose for starters... just wow. Fortiche once again knocked it out of the park with their insanely talented animations and attention to details in body language and facial expressions As we as a fandom continue to extrapolate, debate, discuss, and share our thoughts.. please remember that the people reading what you post might have a different understanding or perspective than you. ive seen so many people frustrated with the villainization or lack of empathy for their favorite characters.
SHE is tragic. her life stolen from her to a point that when she returned it was unrecognizable. She lost her home, her family, her sense of safety, her entire identity. The world didnt pause and wait for her. She came back to a frightening and unfamiliar place and has had nothing but problems and shocking revelations to cope with upon that return
SHE is also tragic. so very tragic. Her whole life is a mess of traumas and blame and internalization of those traumas. She has lost her entire support network 4 or 5 times over. Cait, Silco, Vander, Ekko, Mel, Viktor, Sevika. All of them. All of the characters. They are all tragically stuck in a place that does not serve them well. More thoughts to come, but.. i hope that we as a community can be less toxic to one another and be open to hearing each others thoughts and passions and opinions about the show without belittling or disrespecting each other. Besides, we can all rally together behind the flag of FUCK THAT BITCH MADDIE! >:D

hi!!
i js realized and UGH I FEEL SO STUPID BUT i realized how much of an impact fanficiton can actually dent to the whole "some people are forgetting luigi's inspo and purpose and the whole crux of this situation" im not sure if it is disrespectful that's why i wanted to run it by to u guys but we can totally bring things to perspective on luigi's current conditions. how scared he is, how ignorant MEDIA is in general, we can totally do it and honestly we already are!! most of the fanfictions ive read are raising awareness about the struggles of going through traumatic surgeries, making people feel seen about injuries they had that are similar to luigi's!! i just want to clarify that im not saying that EVERYTHING we choose to write to be apart of this community must be sort of tasked to carry the weight of the world at all times and have this altruistic can-do attitude about it. what im saying is that we all require something real even if it is in our fantasies - real as in something that is close to us as humans and ive realized that there is always and forever will be a certain standing that we take against oppressors that quote and quote "work in the shadows - making them systems of cowardice" most importantly ive noticed that us as a community loves fanfiction that humanizes luigi - we live vicariously through the name of "y/n" and that is just us feeling human and through this fandom we create a community an institution with a base for smart thinkers and creative writers i think luigi has inspired a lot of people and it is important to note that people especially creators - those who know they belong or has hosted a blog or whatever type of creative craft of their that hones their skills are easily touched by topics that wake them up and inspire them - those are topics that are hard to forget
so i just wanted to share this message! and im sending this as Phoenix (pseudonym) to my favorite luigi writers, you guys dont have to respond politically or feel pressured to completely agree with what im saying i mean im still learning and im def a minor exposed to media so of course i am subject to multiple errors! i just felt the need to say it and im too shy to post it on my actual tumblr..
clarification: i really dont mean this as an attack or as a self-righteous claim :(( i sent this to you because i adore you and ur writing, how u see the world, how u contribute to this fandom, and how u make us feel dare i say... one with the one we are reading about!! im sorry if i said anything bad or insensitive or just offending in any way!! dont be pressured to reply to this i just realized that it's important for me to share my voice even if i think it doesnt matter because it might matter to others who would like to read it
by the way!! i got these ideas a lot from a book called the message by ta nehisi coates!! if you love writing you'd love this book for sure :))
i really dont mean to offend and i apologize for the long message my love!! i hope you have a great day please drink water and stay safe!!
OHHHH MY GOD I LOVE YOU!!
IVE BEEN SAYING THIS THE WHOLE TIME!! Writing Luigi, or writing FOR Luigi, is a political move in itself. How you choose to portray or regurgitate his character automatically clarifies how he is seen by the media! For some people who only watch the news or donāt do research on him as a person, weāre gonna have more surface level and extremely harmful takes. By now Iāve seen such AWFUL things being said about a man who was already confirmed to be
1, A huge man who advocated for COMPLETE equality, 2. An extremely pleasant and kind soul to be around, and someone who literally GAVE UP THEIR LIFE OF UPPER CLASS FREEDOM AND COMFORT BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO TRY AND BETTER SOMETHING THEY SAW AS AN AMERICAN FLAW.
Iāve seen rumors fly around that heās a narcissist, trump supporter, misogynist, abuser, etc etc and itās so fucking apparent who actually did research and is able to form a strong opinion without the influence of others or the media, and people who are able to take a moment and literally just fact check themselves LMFAOOš
So yes, writing Luigi raises awareness to his cause and situations, but also the calls of others, the healthcare system, the judicial system, and many many more. Albeit itās a very unconventional way of raising awareness, but I am literally punk, I am all about unconventional LMAOOO
Keep reading, please! You are such a bright brilliant mind and you are able to draw such loaded conclusions and make statements that the comfortable wonāt! We love you!! Rock on man!

the frustrating thing about communism is that it doesn't scale. you need to have a central government because if you don't, everyone around you who does have that coordination will either absorb you peacefully or violently. infrastructure requires maintenance, and that maintenance cannot be managed, trained or supplied for without an organizing body. a parliament or congress is the proper form for that body, imo, but you can't not have it.
To be fair, there are many types of communism that cover similar ideas of government. Within every major political ideology, there will be sects like agree on general ideas but differ when it comes to the details of how to make that happen or how to govern such a structure. But i do see where youre coming from, I've also noticed that the nitty gritty boring things that are nonetheless critical for the functioning of a major society are often left at the wayside in (online) communist circles in favour of the revolution pipe dream.
In my opinion, any ideology that hinges on the idea that we can achieve a perfect society at all is already doomed to fail, and often to fall into actual fascism for a number of reasons. Firstly, humans are inherently flawed. Flawed beings can not achieve perfection, period. Secondly, what "perfect" means is very subjective based on experience, ideology, and personal preference, meaning that my idea of perfect would be unlivable for many of the people living in my apartment building, much less within an entire society. And if i were to be put in such a position, it would be dictatorial of me to enforce my idea of perfection upon those people. Thirdly, you will never, ever, EVER have a legitimate society where nobody disagrees with the government. It just doesn't happen without mass enforcement. There will ALWAYS be someone who disagrees with how the show is run, there will ALWAYS be someone who is hurt by ANY system, and there will ALWAYS be someone willing to officially dissent against the government. You could have a society based on the idea that everyone gets free food and shelter and water and energy and free education and puppies and rainbows and unicorns, and you will end up hurting the farmers who have to work disproportionately to others to produce the resources to allow this to happen, and then how are you going to organically convince them that this is for the greater good without some kind of enforcement?
If you can not answer the questions of "how will you deal with dissent in your perfect society," or your answer is "there will not be dissent" then im sorry but theres more than a few red flags in there for me.
Like look, i dont mean to sound like im bragging but i think pointing this out is warranted. All my education is in politics. I have a 4.0 ivy league degree, i come from a family made up entirely of history teachers and local politicians, i have spent years on the frontlines of legitimate activist movements and i volunteer as many extra hours as i can with the NDP, at this point im on a first name basis with multiple local MPs and MPPs within the party. I have read whatever political theory youre about to demand i read to "change my mind." Ive probably read it multiple times in order to write a paper on it. And i still dont have an answer for the question of "so what system wouldnt cause all this hurt?" because all that experience and education has mostly taught me how incredibly ignorant i really am and how i would be a dictator if given absolute power, because everybody would be. Yes, you. You would be too. Sometimes the best answer you have is "i dont know, so right now lets do the best we can with what we have."

betrayal, hide, mask for witchwraithhaven?
iiiiiiiiiii forgot i reblogged this lmao whoops!
oc blocktext time~!
betrayal: Has your OC ever been betrayed by someone they thought they could trust? Has your OC ever betrayed someone who trusted them?
ā¦y'know, i don't think ive done a whole lot with literal betrayal arcs for these three? like ive got some conceptual "perceived betrayal of the past self's ideals" going on, and wraith had an ex girlfriend backstab them in an early draft of the writing project, but that got cut bc it made the timeline clunky, and i haven't played with it much outside that.
hide: What does your OC hide? Why do they hide it?
witch: they got so much shit kicked under the bed, both literally and figuratively. their house is a dragon's horde of accumulated Stuff that no one else can access (besides wraith+haven), they are extremely close-lipped about their personal life, if i listed off all the specifics we'd be here all year. their biggest ~secrets~ are the ones that pose a safety risk to them and their loved ones. the most important physical object they're hiding is the only copy of the blueprints for a device that creates gods by destroying universes, and then kills and eats those gods; handling that is the plot of vast and empty spaces was such an Ordeal that they (and wraith) took the knowledge of it out of their head, so that if they get mind read or truth serum'd or something it'll still stay hidden. the memory's just in their room, so it's not like gone-gone, but all they know without checking is that there is something Extremely Destructive in the lowest level of their basement that they shouldn't talk about. the most important concept they keep under wraps is probably their true name. names have Power, and it's important to them that their persona as a wish granter is the main thing people see; even their "common name" is just a shortening of their title, not something they personally picked out to be called.
wraith: they're sometimes accused of hiding their whole self; they're very hard to read, don't communicate their thoughts, and rarely take action in a way that other people can tie directly to them. none of this is on purpose, per se- they're naturally extremely unexpressive, have trouble speaking/signing/writing coherently, and dislike drawing attention the themself- but they know full well that this shuts them off from people and have zero intention to do anything about it, so it's not wholly a false accusation. witch knows them, haven knows them, everyone else can get fucked.
haven: actually does hide a lot of himself as a person, mostly as an anxiety thing. he goes out of his way to cover any skin besides his hands and face (yeah, yeah, full coverage clothing ā hiding inherently, but it is what's going on here in this case), it takes a long time for him to be comfortable wearing anything even slightly attention getting; he's extremely self conscious about his hobbies and interests and avoids discussing them; he's a chronic people pleaser and terrified of confrontation, so any conversation with someone he doesn't already know that requires him to have an Opinion will result in him saying whatever he assumes will cause the least friction, even if it means outright lying. his assumptions are often wrong, which is why he can only make friends on accident. oops. he also keeps the whole "reincarnated from another universe" thing under wraps when that becomes relevant, for obvious reasons.
mask: Does your OC wear a mask, literally or figuratively? What goes on beneath it? Is there anyone in their life who gets to see who they are under the mask?
this has a lot of overlap with the last question, in the sense of them having multiple "selves" for a private and public context, but i will be splitting hairs about using the term "mask", because that has some connotative layers to it.
i don't totally think witch's public persona is a mask so much as it is a curation; they're playing a character so they are seen the way they want to be seen/the way they need to be seen in order to do their job, but they keep that character as close to themself as they can, as it's easier for them to be genuine than not. their "actual face" is kind of a behind-the-scenes type deal; as i said before, they have a lot of secret-secrets, but a lot of what they keep behind the curtain is the mechanics that let them keep the play going, and they just don't need other people to see that.
wraith's mask is more of a cardboard cutout they happen to be standing behind. they're not going to try to move out into the open, but with a bit of effort you can walk around it, and they're not going to stop you. they might make the path a bit harder or easier based on if they like you or not, but in the end if you can't or don't find them, that's on you.
haven is only functional in public due to his customer service face, which is very intentionally constructed to be at least partially separate from who he considers himself to really be for the aforementioned anxiety/judgement evasion reasons. secretary!haven can make phone calls. normal!haven gets anxious checking his email. you get the picture.
mask or no, none of them hide any part of themselves from the other two. loving and being loved is synonymous with knowing and being known.

in this seventh issue you will see..
tzuyu's overall career reading (like future check) in her hometown: honestly it's not that bad as it can seems. i can see she would actually love to at least try to establish her individual relevance back in her hometown (i am not sure about china by its own since both countries are in its own conflict and until everything is resolved between them and possibly others, taiwan is independent by its own, so i asked separately about taiwan). however, due to that controversy she had when she wasn't even 18, she is aware of the hardships it can bring. as much as tzuyu would like to try again, it's only fair if the taiwanese audience want to give her a chance by itself. i personally doubt jype shut her out in this perspective/possibility, but they just don't have opinion. if taiwan wants her, ok, but only then.
how vcha view twice: collectively, they see the senior group as very ambitious people who work ready hard to achieve their goals. i can see also admiration, possibly even idolization from vcha's side, and respectfully why.
how wonyoung feels about either way's lyrics: i can see that she relates to the lyrics based on her experiences, it was like a shock to her. up to that, i really don't see anything else as she doesn't want to share more, it's really personal how she feels.
if someone from ive has solo career in the future, will ive promote as a group like now?: um, yeah, i see they'll be still promoted but like, it won't be the fucking same. i do see a member who will be the most affected out of all (since noone has fire sun, then moon/dominant planet/etc.) because they will still want the solo career that member has. i do see some sort of mistreatment and even mismanagement to some extent but that will be the only issue as of now.
babymonster, career reading, 2026: i do see postpoment for that tour yge is planning in 2025. due to uncontrollable and unstable reasons from the earlier year, i am not even sure.. i am sorry if i happen to be ffs wrong but are they living in a lie? around that time, of course. look. the girls will be even more full of postpontments and any sort of delays and the only beneficial thing i actually see here is either a tour or activities outside of south korea. i am still not sure they will be 7 and .. ahyeon doesn't seem to be the reason why.
ygnbg check: they're still on postponement :) i don't see someone specific, they really gave up for now. (that person also asked for anyone standing out and possibly ethinicities and all that shit, i cannot say anything when yge stopped working on them for unspecified time)
how jay (enhypen) feels about sunghoon?: jay believes he is fair and responsible person. he appreciates that sunghoon might do multiple things at once as of now, and also that quality of his that he can get revenge if there is some sort of unfairness. quite wild person when it's needed.
jake (enhypen), general reading: from what i see, currently he is more focused on work than ever. i do see some workaholic tendencies from jake himself, so honestly he has to be careful to not overwork himself at this point. i don't see anything else. he might work harder for perfomance, stage, tour, next comeback, i have no clue.
why the issue with chaeyoung's red face happened years ago: whoever uploaded that video with the thumbnail in question, don't want chaeyoung to continue as a public person. i'd even say they cursed her in some way, at least from what i see. they seem to like other members more than her.
babymonster, first comeback, career reading: since blackpink have resigned with the company as a group (i am making difference between individual contracts and group ones!!), yge have more money to continue with babymonster, which for them is good. however, this leads from the company's side to literally "abuse" k-netizens with baemon's presence even more with the girls' first comeback. i can see ahyeon's eventual choice influencing the girls' first comeback the most, and rightfully so. however, due to uncertain outlooks the energy of babymonster's first comeback is really shaky because as of now ahyeon priorities her health.
does jype's founder want wonyoung in his company?: as much as he would love to, he would prefer to save her from the company he founded, jyp himself might be actually aware of its tactics :)
what does baemon (ot6 without ahyeon) think of ahyeon's break: they are too anxious, possibly because of her actual relevance. i'd say they were unaware of what is happening and perhaps they overthink everything: was she lying, is she actually okay, what will happen to baemon now.. i am unsure if they actually care about ahyeon herself because they seem to care much more about how much they earn individually rather than ahyeon's actual mentality/wellbeing as of now and even if they care about her, that's not their main concern.
why txt had this much scandals the recent months: i do see someone certain who want to (i am sorry but) destroy the group. they seem to have very negative energy that is invented towards (allegedly) the group and the company's team. i can see that the best thing they (bhm's team) do is to ignore the threats and etc. towards them (txt included). i see that it might've been way worse for txt but they survived through it and whatever was going to be released/revealed/etc. didn't got public in the end.
will txt be as relevant as before: with the time i believe so but it will really take some time.
how the recent scandals txt had will affect the group?: not much, they seem to have learned some lessons from this point in their group career but apart from that nothing much :|
"next so-called bts (allegedly!!)", more info (UPDATE): they haven't debuted and if they will, as of now it will be up to 8 months. i do see the past group i saw as the "next bts" was for some reason fifty fifty, so now I do see different group. i still see the next group that might have similar releavance as bts will allegedly be girl one. however, i am not sure if the company the group will be in will be from sme/jype/yge/hybe or smaller one (with budget and etc.), i see the company the girls are in have some setbacks, such as delays, financial issues and so on, so in the case where (from what I see) almost all of big4 companies have more or less financial issues (i don't see hybe being affected and if it is, they're the least out of these 4) i am unsure if the company is big or not. it seems to be bigger but i am not sure if it's from big3+hybe.
will the companies that make international groups with western companies do well?: ah.. about that.. only hybe seems to do well.. i checked hybe, jype and sme since i am aware only for these 3 companies. compared to VCHA and the group between SME and .. idk, that UK company, or that USA one, i cannot remember atp, KATSEYE seems to do really well. maybe not as well as the other two but better, I guess.. they can do well and although not as well as some of their other groups, they will be just fine, i guess. VCHA on the other hand seem to rely mainly on the company USA is managing them and on their fanbase that is gained from the k-pop community that are fans of groups that are currently active in jype. that seems to not work well for them and they won't apparently gain more new fans as a group. therefore, restrictions will be inevitable. they might work out if they are similar as xg but up to that, i guess. sme on the other hand, they are completely different situation especially when I see there will be isolation towards sme. honestly, i do see similar try as jype when they did tried to make wonder girls relevant in usa but didn't work but worse.
will ahyeon return to babymonster: as of now, yes, i see she will probably return. she wants to.
the readings are this much due to hashtag limit.

Whatās the update on cnscious? You had said youāre reaching out and Iām curious as to what happened.
i did reach out and share my concerns. normally if a conversation is private, i keep it that way, but i get why ur asking so ill share the gist, which is : i brought my grievance to the table. she heard me out, took accountability, & apologised with sincerity. ā as uncomfortable as it was for me to read what she wrote, after listening to her, and taking what i know of her character from over the time ive known her into account, i don't believe she intended any malice. personally, i'm good with an apology and accountability taken (especially if future actions show effort to act & speak with consideration, and educate herself on the matter). however, the truth is, how i feel about a matter is how i feel. i cant and shouldn't influence another persons stance or opinion on the situation. gauge all things for yourself and see how you feel and where you stand.
one thing though. ā i do believe the anon who first sent her those questions really did give her multiple chances to correct her stance, and reflect/apologise. i also believe it isn't anyone's responsibility to try to educate or take up for people who are being discriminatory in their behaviour or language. ā however, we often say our intent is to 'call people in' and educate them, rather than 'call them out'. if thats truly the case, we need to take account of the fact that we all have the ability to reach out to one another one on one. its not about doing the person you wish to correct any favours, or about pandering to them. its literally that people are human and if they don't believe what they're doing is wrong, or cant see the harm they're causing because they never intended it/dont under the opposing perspective, they're likely to get defensive, or feel like their being goaded rather than corrected when someone calls them out both publicly & anonymously. its human nature to get 'cagey' when your embarrassed or feel misunderstood. i think anonymous messages heighten that feeling and can actually make someone who would normally respond apologetically, pissed off and super defensive. i think private messages or at the very least sending public messages but with ur @ attached, goes a long way to letting the person on the other side know they can bring their guard down because they're being addressed by a human who genuinely wants to make them aware, rather than someone lurking on them from the shadows, waiting to 'twist what they meant', or fuck with them. ā for the record, im not saying thats what anon was trying to do. i just wanna bring to light a more effective way or creating understanding or peace where theres friction. i respect that there are many reasons someone might want to remain anonymous, all of which are valid. some people dont even want peace in which case, move according to your prerogative. just consider, if you want someone to receive what you have to say with an open heart, it helps if they can see who you are, and feel your intent.

i like dom, he is a sweetheart, but its true he didnt deliever what he was signed for. after hendo we wanted a midfielder who can score goals, who will have g/a. sadly, dom is not that guy. im not blaming him, neither is ale, although he is being played out of position
----------------------------------------
this type of comments give me the ick so bad hahaha when it refers to players that are new to a league like Domi. he is new to a completely different league with a team that has certain plans and strategies that he needs to adapt to, just like every other player lmao.
yeah, some players adapt faster than others, but i think that's what happens literally everywhere: some adapt faster to new environments than others lolol.
Mac Allister had been playing in the premier prior to getting to Liverpool yeah, but it's still a new team with new everything lol. he is slowly finding himself within the team's system and we can see that.
i think we cannot speak so surely about a player's performance so early on unless they have been complete and utter shit and have not delivered anything at all, those types of "failed" signings are very easy to spot early on. but yeah, at least give them a year and, in Domi's case, wait for him to come back from his injury too omg. i think even Mo has talked about how Domi is new to all of this and that he is still young so he has a lot to learn still and ppl should not put so much pressure on him.
yeah, ppl hyped him up a lot (even the media, because... its the media) and he might have leaned into that hype if that makes sense, but wouldn't you do it too? i would also feel like im on top of the world and use this hype to get more confident. but the pressure is bound to get too much esp. with someone new to the league.
so sorry for the long rant omg, ive been thinking about this for a while. i hope it all makes sense, im not a native english speaker.
i just want to finish off by saying: give him (them) time and let's give constructive criticism i beg (this is not for anon omg this is in general cause a lot of people love to talk shit instead of trying to help lmao)
Hi anon!
Don't you apologize for the rant, I really enjoyed reading it, especially because I wholeheartedly agree and couldn't have said it better myself! And as a non-native speaker I wouldn't have guessed that English isn't your first language if you don't mention it!
Essentially, I think Domi is a victim of his own early success. He literally hit the ground running and even that doesn't express fully how quickly he got so popular. It feels like a lifetime ago, but I remember how he got POTM for August, or his jersey sold the most at the start of the season. I even remember that like two months into the season there was some stupid 'who's your favourite lfc player' poll on twt and he got first place (??) and there was a complete meltdown over that lool.
So, for the first few months, he was everywhere, in the media, on social media, constantly praised, edited next to Stevie G, it was a LOT. Everyone was definitely doing too much, so when the inevitable happened and realism kicked in, some were quick to be loud with their criticism. Just like they say, the higher you get, the worse the fall will be. In my opinion, that's what happened.
I also feel like that because of his great start, people just completely forgot his original situation - that he's young, from a slower, less physically demanding league, with winter breaks, less game time, playing a completely new role, moving to a whole other country alone, knowing absolutely nobody etc, etc. Sure, everyone of our new signings got their fair share of criticism, but I do feel like there was also a level of patience with them, something that was/is a bit of lacking with Dominik. Endo and Grav were able to get slowly used to the Prem, getting their minutes managed, Dominik didn't. He was playing essentially the role of two players multiple times with all the red cards flying around in the first months and I say this comfortably, that many games were won thanks to his efforts.
This is how a team works, where players are fighting for each other and not just their own egos. He stepped up when Endo and Grav couldn't because of their fitness and when CuJo and Macca were sent off (..) or injured. And now, the others are doing the same thing. It's just recency bias that has people forming sometimes rather harsh opinions, I think.
GOSH, I do suffer from a very serious yapping disease. I could write literal essays on topics like this lol.

as a multishipper who ships pretty much every pairing thrown at them (except if its like illegal or morally not okay obviously) i think your opinions are very interesting to read and people shouldn't be pressed about you expressing them-- (i saw that one ask lmao its literally none of their business they had no right to say that bro LMAO)
on another and kind of unrelated note - im glad to find someone else that doesn't really like jamil x kalim ... like idk i think its weird how popular it is it gives me the icks so bad like for them to have a healthy friendship let alone relationship with each other they have to have at the very least a LONG TALK and like truly get to understand each others issues and problems right down to the roots and i just dont really think thats in the cards for either of them---
ANYWAY!! ON A LIGHTER NOTE NOW!!! VERY SURPRISED NO ONES SENT IN ADEUCE YET THE SILLIES EVER!!!
a few other ships i like that id find opinions on very intriguing are: cater x idia azul x jamil jack x sebek !!
actually i havent read too far into the main story/events and i have no idea how many times jack and sebek interacted in canon but ive read multiple cute fics with them so i think its cute in fanon :3
- šš¹
Thank you!! I've gotten a couple more asks from people pissed off I'm giving my opinion on ships, but I've just deleted them. It's none of their business anyway.
Adeuce is a perfectly fine ship. Some people like to say that Ace is a bully to Deuce, and to that I say, have you ever met a friend group of high schoolers? They banter, they make fun of each other, it's perfectly normal as long as they aren't going past certain boundaries. Adeuce is fine in my book.
Cater and Idia has the appeal of an extrovert and an introvert, but I'm gonna have to say no, just because Idia is in a position of power as a housewarden. This is nothing against your ship, they're both consenting adults, but I'm pretty firm with this rule.
Jamil and Azul is one of the most popular ships, and I can see why. Azul kinda simps for him in Canon. But I just can't ever see those feelings being reciprocated. Jamil doesn't really care much about Azul, so I can see it being one sided, but i don't think Jamil would ever like him back.
Jack and Sebek have appeal, I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Like, they're in the first year friend group, even if they don't interact a bunch. They have similar interests, I think it could probably work.

For all your mtg knowledge and opinions, i feel like you've never mentioned what colours or decks or formats you play, and I'm really curious
ive played every color at some point and love all of them for what they are, but i am fundamentally a Johnny/blue player because i am a little shit who enjoys breaking/abusing game rules that most people didn't even know existed. to that end, the last time i played Standard was during Eldraine/Ikoria, which was positively rife with bullshit rules interactions. "i have multiple Wilderness Reclamations that each untap all my lands on my end step, but since they all trigger individually, im going to tap all my lands for mana between each trigger to float [#of WildRecs]*[# of lands] mana, then dump it all into the Explosion half of Expansion//Explosion to hit you in the face for 27." "yeah i know i just threw my cat into the oven but i declared it as blocking your 10/10 dude right before that and i don't see any trample so none of that goes through. also the cat comes back on your end step." "i gave my Mayhem Devil deathtouch so every time something gets sacrificed i can ping and kill one of your dudes. i sac my Fabled Passage to kill your griffin. oh, you sac your Alseid of Life's Bounty to give the griffin protection from Red? hey, guess what that sacrifice just triggered again that will resolve before the protection goes through?" absolute horseshit and i loved it
in terms of what formats i play i pretty much just read analysis of every format except Commander which i play once every month or so (in person; Spelltable is fine for 1v1s but trying to find 3 other people with non-potato webcams who actually narrate their turns is impossible)

A little "my opinion on Izuocha" rent
It's originally, at its core, not a bad ship. Pretty cute, even.
So it's hard to explain why i dislike Izuocha as a bkdk skipper bc people automatically assume im just hating on a straight couple or that I'm misogynistic.
I literally hated katsuki and shipped izuocha the first 3 seasons. They were so cute. But I kept being disappointed. It's entirely one sided.
Horikoshi said on multiple occasions that he reads romance a lot. And he's very good at writing characters and psychology. He knows how to write romance. Yet here he is, writing a superhero comic but never gave us a scene where Izuku risks his life for her? Never protects her? Every single time there's a villain attack and Horikoshi has the perfect set up to write a very romantic scene, he immediately SEPARATES THEM. USJ attack? He was with Tsuyu and Mineta. At the training camp? He fought alone. And when he joins Ochaco's group? He leaves her 5 minutes later. Katsuki rescue mission? Could've have Ochaco coming too in order to prevent Izuku from doing something too risky (like Iida did) it would've been cute. But no she wasn't there either.
We got a lil romance moment between them at the provisional licence exam but IT WAS FREAKING TOGA THE DISAPPOINTMENT.
Besides, when Ochaco (so actually Toga...) fell down, he didn't have that "I want to protect the girl im in love with" moment, no he had a moment where he thought about his regrets and past mistakes that caused Kacchan and All Might prejudice.
The whole chisaki arc? Oh. Surprise. It's also one sided. Ochaco only comes towards the end, terrified at Nighteye's vision of Izuku's death. Nothing from Izuku again. Season 5 Uraraka saves Izuku from blackwhip going out of control with Shinso. The war? Oh a war! What a good way to bring in scenes of them sacrificing for each other- well no they separate AGAIN at the very BEGINNING and it's Katsuki's redemption being upfront.
Then the vigilante arc... Izuku talked about wanting to protect the smiles of his family and classmates but never Ochaco in particular... it would've nice to have her on a panel alone at that moment but no...
All those missed opportunities just gave me so much frustration and disappointment that I don't ship them anymore. I absolutely love Izuku with all my heart he's my favorite character but Ochaco deserves someone who looks at her the same way she looks at them. And it's not Izuku.
So sorry but I'm tired of the typical Shounen (male) main character totally ignoring the girl who's in love with him the entire series meanwhile she can't be more devoted to him but suddenly at the last chapter they're married. Like seriously ? Its just bad writing to me.
But a lot of people still believe it's a very good ship because there's "moments". Like when Izuku blushes around her... 90% of the time it's because she's in his personal space, very close and it's making him a lil embarrassed. Things like that.
There's their conversation after Ochaco's speech at UA where he thanks her. He compliments her hair style and other things out of nowhere it was I think the only time of the series my Izuocha heart felt a little satisfaction. It was adorable. But then they talked about wanting to save villains so it stopped there.
At the final war, last opportunity for Horikoshi to finally do something with that supposed to be canon ship, we get Katsuki thinking of his idol All Might, his dreams to be a hero and his childhood with Izuku as his dying thoughts, we get Izuku going feral seeing his corpse but for Ochaco we get... that
On the 393th chapter, the last one that was released (small spoiler) we can see Ochaco thinking of Izuku. It's again one sided, Izuku isn't even looking at her
but ive seen a lot of people saying this is Horikoshi "putting it all together and making the ship canon" and... I don't think so...? This is just yet another shot of Ochaco being in love, one amongst idk many others since the beginning of the manga it's not new at all..
Now give me a shot of Izuku thinking of OCHACO when he speaks about love. Then I'll start thinking it's maybe reciprocated. Now? Absolutely not.
I send absolutely no hate to Izuochas, if you ship them no problem but I just wanted by this post to explain why me and so many other people don't want them to end up together. It's not idk... Gay ship obsession or misogyny (even if Ochaco does receives a lot of undeserved hate for these reasons...). There's just nothing interesting to the ship to me.
It's one sided. It's... boring. Just boring.
Now I know bkdk won't be canon because well.. homophobia is a thing and it's a Shonen so I'm not dreaming much but I dont want Izuocha to end up together. Not with their current dynamic at least.
