It’s finally here!
My very own anime ending for “River of Suffering” (苦しみの川)!
Right, right, of course it‘s a fake. Since I first saw the ending of Rozen Maiden Ouvertüre many years ago, I have wanted to make a parody version of it with own characters and related to my writing. And now I finally did!
I hope you enjoy it just as much as me.
(The song is Utsusemi no Kage by kukui btw.)
If you’re wondering about the credits: Almost all names are made up, roundabout in-jokes, puns, or just straight up gibberish. I wanted to make it look semi-authentic at least.
The big exception here are the first three sections for the voice cast. This is my personal “wish list” if this anime could ever be real.
If you’re curious, here’s the romanized cast list:
Marin Gasshan – Nobunaga Shimazaki
Terri Yaki-Son – Naoya Uchida
Wideffa – Shōzō Iizuka
Selet Adurag – Haruka Tomatsu
Korogra Batshin – Yuki Kaji
Yensa Brūza-Daughter – Megumi Ogata
Royan Dejoniss – Akio Ōtsuka
Rutanadee – Satsuki Yukino
Muscart Nūz-Son – Kenjiro Tsuda
Molldum – Mugihito
Dūz – Yuichi Nakamura
Ralw Sturmbock – Yoshitsugu Matsuoka
Halastur – Ryūzaburō Ōtomo
Mendlah – Ryūsei Nakao
Skendha – Takahiro Sakurai Taako Limpah-Son – Wataru Takagi
Very happy I get to share this with all of you and I think it's a great piece to finish the year on. Without all the immense love and support this year, I wouldn't have attempted this and am looking forward to making more art next year.

can i ask for headcanons of cozmez satsuki and hajun with a s/o who has horrible trap reactions but hid it from their boyfriends cause they were embarrassed/didn't wanna stress him out? thank you!
Hajun Yeon:
Trap reactions were something deeply personal, and as a person who held tightly to every secret he could, Hajun would be hypocritical for calling you out on some fronts. He thought he should have at least known you were suffering from them, let alone ones that bad, and while he can’t answer why he wanted to know… He just felt like he should. He can’t promise to make everything better but he can promise to be there for you if you needed him, even if it was just for him to distract you with some made up tale or some shenanigans Allen had gotten into earlier that day.
Kanata Yatonokami:
No hesitation, Kanata calls you stupid for hiding something like that from him. You knew he had trap reactions, and regardless of the intensity of yours, it felt like you were trying to hide something from him. He guessed he could understand that not everyone wanted another person around while they were going through it mentally, but it almost bothered him that you didn’t want to lean on him. He at least wanted to know when you felt you were going to have a trap reaction, just so he can at least sit outside your room and assure you’re making it through okay.
Nayuta Yatonokami:
Nayuta feels guilt, immense guilt, and it’s hard to pinpoint exactly where that emotion stemmed from. Did you keep it from him because you didn’t think you could rely on him? Was he not strong enough to support you in your time of need? His thoughts are selfish, centered on how your trap reaction affected him, and it did nothing to set him at ease. He lets you know it won’t stress him out to know, and that he’d prefer you stress him out in that way rather than having him worry he’s not enough for you.
Satsuki Ito:
Satsuki feels guilty even with the clear admission that you’re the one purposely hiding things from him, but he still felt like it was his fault. Did you not feel like you could rely on him? Was your trauma associated with an event you didn’t want to confide in him about? He tried not to appear upset by it as he didn’t think that was the right response but you can see he’s dejected, kicking at the dirt as he mumbled that he’s sorry for not being a better partner for you. He does want you to rely on him if you feel like he can, as they all have trap reactions and it’s not something you should be ashamed of.

Bored so. Dra characters and if i think theyd be shit parents or not. (Not including people who are canonically parents)
I will reblog this with the sdra2 characters and what i think theyd be like as parents.
Mitch: he'd be an absent father
Kiyoka: i mean. She'd probably do decently enough. She wouldnt be perfect but she wouldnt be awful, either.
Kizuna: it really depends!! If shes a single mother, i think she'd really struggle with it. Both of her parents were bad, but still in her life, and as a single mother... i think she may unintentionally be bad. BUT!!! If she has a good partner, i think she, like kiyoka, could be a decent mother. I think she'd also definitely need to get some sort of therapy before being a mother, just so she can unlearn things that minako taught her.
Ayame: she'd definitely be a good mother! She'd make sure her child has a good balance between everything. 25/25/25/25 for games, excersize, schoolwork, and anything else. She would care a lot.
Kakeru: probably a good dad. I think he'd adopt kids, maybe teenagers, and try his best to make sure theyre happy as can be.
Kanata: like kakeru, i think she'd be adopting. And i think she'd be a good mom. After the good ando and his wife did for her, by adopting her and raising her with care and love, she'd want to do the same for other children out there.
Kinji: part of me is tempted not to include him because of the orphans.... hes actually their dad now. He was willing to kill to keep them safe so... hes at least decent. At most hes a great parent.
Haruhiko: probably decent. Not the best, not the worst.
Satsuki: i mean... i dunno she feels a bit complicated. She was raised in a large family. Her parents basically saw her as something else to help them profit, as they probably did with all of their kids. Almost all of her siblings saw her as competition instead of family. Keisuke was basically acting as her father, because neither of their parents did a proper job raising her. I think she'd have to realize how wrong all of this was before having her own kids-- only then do i think she'd be better than decent. Also i think it'd be best if she only had 2-3 kids because we are NOT repeating what her mother did. 21 KIDS???? JESUS CHRIST
Yamato: from the sounds of everything, Hanzo did a good job raising him. Because of his strong sense of morality, i think he'd be a good father. Not great, but not just decent, either. I think he'd help his kid with a lot of things, but possibly, unintentionally, make his kid worry about living up to expectations.
Mikako: i think she'd be a very caring mother. Not overprotective or a "they can do no wrong!" mother, but she'd care for her kids as if her life depends on it. I think, if there were ever a possibility of her finding out what kokoro did to her, it'd mess her up a bit and she'd worry more about failing as a mother.
Utsuro: ........would he even be present? I dont know. I dont think he'd even want to be a father.
Akane: its easy to imagine her as a mother, but shes gone through hell and back and she's experienced lots of poor treatment. She didnt really have a mother for a lot of her life, because her mother died when she was still young. She never knew her father. I dont think she really had any good parental figures in her life, other than the possibility of another maid or two caring for her when she was just starting out and when she grew up. But so many people have harmed her that... i think she'd be scared of having a child. I think she wouldn't want to bring a child into the world, knowing they could suffer the same hell she did. Knowing how cruel the world is. So, i dont know if she'd be a good or bad mom. I don't think she'd want kids.
Teruya: kojiro set a good example for him! He'd probably be a good/great dad! Bbbbbut theres a chance his kid could end up being terrified at the idea of being the heir to otorimart.
Tsurugi: SHIT FATHER!!! Maybe in a happier timeline, he would be decent. Maybe if given the time to escape the beliefs that his father placed on him, he would be decent. But if we go by the tsurugi seen in sdra2... i just dont think he'd be a good father at all.
Rei: AMAZING MOTHER. LISTEN TO ME. She's smart. She knows that what she experienced as a child was wrong. She would not want her own child to feel as unloved as she did. She was abandoned and had to fend for herself on the streets while she was still young. She would be hesitant on having a child, but she'd be an amazing mom to any offspring she has. I actually have written a fic with her as a mom! it's uh. for the fankidronpa i'm helping write. Here's the link. (it's going to be released in parts bit by bit as the fankidronpa itself actually releases, to expand on a character more :3)
Keisuke: i said it in satsukis portion, but he practically raised her. She was practically his daughter. (Meaning he likely experienced parentification of some sort which is a topic for another time.) But I think he'd actually do pretty good! At least... that's regarding DRA keisuke. SDRA2 Keisuke would not do as well, probably. He'd be decent, still, but after beginning to follow the same beliefs that Tsurugi follows... I don't know how to explain it, but I think he'd fail a bit in certain areas.
Ryutaro and Midori: Honestly? I don't know, with these two. But... I think they'd have to adopt. If they wanted children at all, I think they'd have no choice but to adopt. Why am i including them together?........ Listen they're the only ship i'm going to include in this post. They're their own people away from the ship, yes, but i think it'd be the same either way. The only difference is that I think ryutaro might not want children, and Midori would be worried about adopting a child at all due to the fear that she could die from any sickness at any random time.
Anyways it's 2:08 AM and I am your locally insane dra fan.

Would you do a request for Hokusai Masaki where one of his brothers accidentally lets it slip that he’s in love with the reader?
Summary: Hokusai is completely in love with you, and while the rest of AKYR can see it, they don't think you can. So they tell him that actions speak louder than words.
Pairing: Hokusai Masaki X Fem!Reader
Genre: Fluffy Oneshot
Word Count: 1247
Warning: N/A
Masterlist
A/N: Thank you so much for requesting this! I enjoyed writing it more than I thought I would! I hope you enjoy it too!
Hokusai is definitely a man of few words. Everyone in Akanyatsura can attest to that. But they also knew that his actions spoke louder than words. And of course, it was no secret to them when he started seeing you more often, that he was infatuated with you. He was always helping you with your chores and hanging out with you, indulging your every whim. And it was so painfully obvious to his Akanyatsura brothers, that some were getting annoyed with his behavior.
"You're going out with them again?" Reo whined as he flopped dramatically onto the table in their living space.
Hokusai nodded. "They asked me to visit. I won't be gone long."
"You say that every time." Satsuki pouted. "And yet you stay out for hours on end with them."
"It's like we don't even exist to you anymore!" Reo cried and wiped fake tears from his eyes.
Hokusai simply watched his brothers, slightly confused. He didn't think he spent that much time with you. Sure, he has been seeing you more often, but that was because you both wanted to. And he was still for Akanyatsura when Iori needed him. He definitely was not shirking his responsibilities. So he had no idea why they were acting like this.
Iori hummed to himself. "Well, I think it's sweet. I think it's about time this family expanded."
"What are you talking about?!" Zen sputtered, which in turn made Iori chuckle.
"I'm simply saying another member of the group would be just fine to me. I'm not implying I would replace any of you; believe me, you're all irreplaceable, but one more person in this family is just what we need I think."
Zen let out a sigh. "I see. Forgive me for jumping to conclusions."
"You need to get your mind out of the gutter, my friend." Iori grinned as Zen blushed.
"But that all depends on if Hokusai actually invites them to join our family!" Reo stated as a matter of fact. "And we all know he won't do that!"
Hokusai tilted his head in confusion. "What do you mean?"
"It's obvious!" Satsuki replied. "You're not very good with words, least of all when they're supposed to be romantic. We all know the two of you are going to be dancing around your feelings for ages. And the rest of us are going to have to suffer because of your pining."
"I don't make you suffer." He shot back. "And I don't need words to be romantic. You know actions speak louder than words."
"But are they receiving the message you are trying to convey through your actions?" Zen asked, then held his hands up in surrender. "I mean no offense, but sometimes people aren't perceptive to action and need to be told."
Hokusai thought for a moment before he shrugged. "I hope so. But if they weren't, I wouldn't even know what to say to tell them my feelings."
Iori shook his head. "We can't help you with that. Those words need to come from you and your heart. You can do this, I know you can."
He slowly nodded. "Alright. I'll try."
Smiling and nodding, Iori shooed him out the door. "Now go! They're waiting for you!"
Again, Hokusai nodded before leaving the Akanyatsura house. It didn't take him long to get to the park right outside of your apartment building. You both loved hanging out there, whether it was by walking around the pond together, climbing the trees, or finding stray cats to play with. But he knew as he sat on your favorite bench that today would be different. He was going to try and tell you just how much you meant to him and how much he cared about you. He just needed to find the right words.
"You look lost in thought." Your soft voice lightly teased him. "What's on your mind, Hokusai?"
He shook his head. "Nothing. How are you?"
"I'm fine." You nod. "Better now that you're here."
He smiled. "That's good to hear."
You sat next to him, your shoulder barely brushing his. He was thankful you enjoyed just sitting in silence with him. With you there was no pressure to speak. He could just sit there and enjoy the day with you next to him. Perhaps this was how he confessed to you. Not with his words, but with his actions.
"Wow, this is more boring than I thought it was going to be." A whisper catches his attention. Hokusai glances at you, but you don't seem to have noticed the whisper.
"Well, it is Hokusai we're talking about." If he didn't know any better, he'd say that sounded like Satsuki...
Casually looking around, Hokusai finally noticed Satsuki and Reo failing to hide behind a tree. He glared at them, but that didn't stop them from staring and teasing the two of you. He thought he would be left alone with you. But apparently he thought wrong. He just hoped Iori didn't ask them to come spy on him like an overprotective older brother.
Due to his focus being on the two younger members of Akanyatsura, he didn't notice you at all. And how your focus had shifted to him and the boys hiding behind the tree. He didn't notice you hiding a chuckle behind your hand.
"You think he forgot what he told Aniki earlier?" Satsuki loudly whispered to Reo. "That he said he was going to confess to them?"
Reo shook his head. "Maybe he did. He's obviously not going to make a move. He would have done it by now."
"Yeah, he's had more than enough time now to tell them how much he loves them!"
Hokusai grit his teeth. If he wasn't worried about making a scene in front of you, he would totally beat the two of them up right now. But when you tapped on his shoulder stopped him from getting up and having a little "chat" with his younger AKYR brothers.
"Are you alright?" You ask, with a sweet smile on your lips.
He hesitates before nodding. "I'm okay."
Your smile widens as you shake your head. "No, you're not. I can tell you're not. Those boys over there are giving you a hard time, aren't they?"
Again he nods.
"Thought so. And if I didn't know any better, it almost sounded like they said something about you being in love with me?" Your smile was teasing and Hokusai could feel his cheeks turn red at your words.
"I- maybe. I mean, yes, I do." He mumbled.
Your smile only continued to widen. "Well, that's good to know. But it's crazy of them to think we weren't already dating. I mean, we've been together for a couple months now, at least!"
"W-we have?"
You nod. "The way you've acted around me proves how much you care about me and how much you want to be around me. You've more than proven yourself to be a worthy boyfriend. So you don't need to come up with some elaborate confession plan. I'm already yours."
He felt the tension in his shoulders ease and a smile stretched across his face. "And I'm yours."
"That's good to know." And with that, you leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to his lips. He responded by pulling you closer, his hand cupping your face. It was absolutely perfect.
"GET A ROOM YOU TWO!"
"SATSUKI KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT OR YOU'LL RUIN THE MOMENT!"

It's the last day of June, at least where I am, which means it's time to post all the art I made for Pride Month! I had planned to make more but I was busy with a bunch of other stuff, like work, going on vacation (which wasn't all the great, oof), other drawing projects to keep myself from suffering burnout, and struggling to get into the flow of writing again. And I'm not going to push myself to do one more cause it's late at night so I'm probably not going to finish it, and my arm is starting to ache. That is a sign to stop for the day. That being said, I am quite happy with how many of these turned out.
Anyways, here's my LGBTQ+ headcanons for the couples we see here and happy Pride month!
Teruya Otori: Gay (or Homoflexible if I'm in the mood to ship him with one of the girl characters, but otherwise he's, like, 99% gay in my head). Mikado Sannoji: Genderqueer & Bisexual Setsuka Chiebukuro: Bisexual Hibiki Otonokoji: Pansexual Kiyoka Maki: Pansexual (usually more attracted to guys but would also date girls) Mikako Kurokawa: Asexual Lesbian Haruhiko Kobashikawa: Bisexual (did not realize this until much later cause he thought finding guys attractive was normal hetero behavior. It isn't.) Satsuki Iranami: MtF Transgender & Pansexual
The poses were based off of this ship pose meme. The google link goes to an account that reposted this meme, and I can't find the original post due to the artist switching accounts and having their old one be completely blank. But I did find their new accounts through their old account: @/taffybuns (main blog) & @/taffybunnie (art blog). Please don't harass the person that reposted this meme. It's just unnecessary pain.

i kept meaning to make a post about this earlier but well. better late than never.
so i recently read "walk to death" by ryouko, the mangaka behind "liar satsuki can see death", and while i still have some mixed feelings about the ending of the latter, reading walk to death kinda makes the story of liar satsuki feel more complete.
and like i dont think its a great thing writing-rise if you have to read an entirely separate series to fully appreciate what is supposed to be a separate standalone series, nor do i even especially like walk to death. i think its premise is overly pessimistic and morbid to the point of feeling gratuitous, and that similar to liar satsuki the pacing and twist ending exposition near the end feels more than a little rushed. its, as far as i can tell, the mangakas first big project and it shows. it feels very passionate and personal, but not the most well thought out. but what i think is really interesting is how liar satsuki begins by questioning and building off of where walk to death ends. komachi in particular is in a lot of ways an evolution of the main character tokiko, and her relationship with satsuki a parallel to tokikos sole friendship.
without spoiling too much, for folks who havent read one or both and might want to, the (simplified) thesis of walk to death can more or less be summarized as "some people are not meant to be alive, and its cruel and unnatural to force them to live if they dont want to". its like a pretty textbook depressed worldview, very "i didnt ask to be born". i dont want to be reductive because like ive definitely been in that mindset before and when youre there it feels very true and profound, but in comparison liar satsuki's core message of "we have a responsibility to preserve life whenever we can, even the lives of those who dont seem to deserve it, even the lives of those who dont seem to want it" strikes me as the conclusions of someone whos been deep in that depressed state and has come out the other side of it.
i dont want to speculate too much on the life and experiences of the creator, both for fear of being invasive and because i believe good art should be able to stand on its own merit, but speaking purely for myself, after reading walk to death i sort of cant help but see komachi's character and the ending she gets as the mangaka looking at their past work and characters and saying, actually, you didnt deserve that suffering. go and live.

koi no yokan 30: suffocate (nishinoya yuu/reader)
First - Prev - Next - M.list - Ao3
A/N: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO READER-PROCLAIMED BEST GIRL NISHINOYA SATSUKI. have some suffering.
Summary: You do your best to support Noya, but things have to get worse before they can get better.
Warnings and Tags: some truly unhealthy coping mechanisms
Words: ~4100
You are the one who wakes up first.
It feels… wrong, to be the one blinking into the morning light and getting your bearings. You're too used to waking up to an uncooperative pillow that insists on shaking you until you set it free (and, ideally, get up with it). Otherwise, waking up to Noya already moving around the room, getting ready for the day like he's never experienced sleep inertia before. Towards the end of your little concussion vacation, you'd pretend to sleep until he decided to commit the ultimate violence by way of opening all the curtains and shaking you until you got up.
You wish this was one of those mornings. You'd take the too-bright sun and all the annoyance any day over seeing him like this.
Even in his sleep, he looks exhausted. You'd bet money that he's barely gotten a few hours, even with your attempts to comfort him, and you have the sinking feeling that, had you not stayed, he might not have slept at all.
You brush his hair out of his face, try to untangle without waking him. He mumbles a protest, clings to you tighter.
"I gotta pee," you whisper back. "Lemme go."
He lets you go wordlessly, turns over to lay with his back to you.
He looks deeply lonely.
"Noya. How much does Soba eat?"
"Give ‘er a can," he mumbles. "She's been working hard."
"Okay. I'll make sure you wake up in time for practice today."
You slip out and pad down the stairs, where Soba joins you with a starved meow.
Last night's conversation weighs heavy on your mind—you're allowed to use my first name if you want. Like you're that close. Like it'd be normal. You don't discount that he's obviously not doing well right now, but… I mean, come on. You'd need practice before you could ever get to that point.
Maybe that's why you greet Soba the way you do: "Hey, baby. Can you show me where Yuu keeps your food?"
Immediately, your face burns something awful. Sure, you've gotten used to sleeping in his clothes, in his futon, in his arms, but his name tastes different in your mouth.
You've got to back away from him. Right now he needs you to stay close. The two needs scrape against each other inside you, and instead, you focus on the more pressing matter: feeding the cat.
Soba winds between your legs, nearly tripping you as you walk. At the foot of the stairs is Satsuki, looking like the living dead as she stares you and Soba down.
"You spent the night," she notes.
"I was worried about Noya-senpai," you admit. "He… didn't seem like he could handle being alone last night."
"Noya-senpai, huh." She takes a slow sip of her mug. "Pretty sure that's not the name I heard just now."
You have the grace, at least, to not faceplant when you miss the last step, and the excuse prepared of a certain someone walking between your legs as you descended if she calls it out. "I'm the only one in the house who calls him Noya," you explain, keeping your voice even. "Soba doesn't know who I mean if I don't say his first name."
She lets out a heavy sigh. "I don't have the energy to tease you until I finish this bullshit. Come on, I'll show you where we keep her food."
"Should I ask what's in the mug?"
"You can ask, but I'm not gonna answer until you try a sip."
You reach for the mug. She lets you take it without complaint. One sip makes you flinch and gag. You almost fling it in retaliation—it's some concoction, more than a beverage. It tastes medicinal in the worst way. "What the fuck is that? Holy fuck, that's disgusting."
"Made coffee, but I poured Monster energy⁴⁴ into the coffee maker instead of water. That was like, four hours ago, so now it's totally cold and somehow tastes even worse."
"Okay, follow up—why?"
A shrug. "Same reason you felt compelled to sleep in Yuu's bed last night. Shit sucks." She pauses in front of one of the cabinets, twists the key in the conspicuous lock to open it. "We have to keep the cabinet door locked because Soba figured out she can bite through metal to get some of the juice out of the wet food. Somehow, she hasn't figured out how to bite through kibble bags, but I think it's just because she doesn't like it as much."
"Do you want a real breakfast? Like, something that isn't a mug of toxic waste?" you ask as you reach past her for a can of cat food. "I was gonna make something for Senpai once he was up so he'll actually eat before practice. I'm gonna try to make him stay home, but I don't think he's gonna go for it."
"Might as well. Honestly, I'm starting to see things, so I could probably stand putting something into my body that isn't straight poison."
"Oh my god, sit down. I'll make you something."
"I don't take orders, babygirl," she replies. "Happy to give ‘em out, though." At your flat look, she sighs and slumps into a seat at the kitchen table. "…sorry. That usually works on pretty girls."
"Don't get down on yourself. It would have worked in another life." Soba accepts the food you proffer with an ongoing purr.
"Never did get a straight answer from you on that. You're strangely immune to flirting. Are you just a really secure straight girl, or…"
"Nah, I like girls, too." You shrug. "And I'm not really immune or anything like that. It's just kinda… harder to feel flustered than it used to be? That, and I know you're just messing around. Stuff like that hits different when the person really means it."
"Oh, is that your game? You convince yourself that your pursuer doesn't mean it so you don't have to think about it?"
You roll your eyes and move to the fridge. "Your game appears to be flirting so you don't have to think about other shit, so I'm not sure you have much room to judge, Nee-san."
She lets out a low whistle. "Yeah, you got me there."
She watches you work for a little bit before she speaks again. "So you know you're bi. Ever been with a girl? Out of curiosity, not flirting."
You shrug. "Kinda-sorta, not really. I dated a girl for a while back in middle school, but we never went all that far. Made out a lot, though."
"Ooh, mystery ex girlfriend. Mind if I ask how it happened? Someone else's misery would be lovely right now."
You let out a startled snort of laughter. "I guess I don't mind. She blew up because I decided to go to a different high school from her, and we both stopped talking after that."
She raises an eyebrow. "There's… a lot missing from that story. Why'd you come to Karasuno instead?"
A shrug. "We had a whole plan to go to this school and dorm together even though we were close enough that we didn't really need to board. Y'know, so we could, uh, focus on our studies, but I was too distant and made her cheat on me and then my issues and bisexuality got my mom killed in front of me and I didn't really feel too good leaving my dad alone while I went to bang my disloyal girlfriend every night for three years."
"Wait, back up—there's so much wrong with what you just said and I'm running on negative sleep and the combination is making it really hard to figure out where to start unpacking that. Uh, sorry about your mom? I'm not sure it was your fault, necessarily, but—"
You turn, slide a plate across the table to her and take her mug of poison as penance. "I'm not asking you to unpack it. Eat your breakfast."
She stares down at what you've thrown together—a fried egg, toast, some crushed-up tomato. It's nothing particularly special, but she seems thrown off by it. Probably just from the trauma dump and poison combo, but, well, she asked.
"Holy shit, that's fancy."
"It's toast."
"It's fancy toast."
You roll your eyes and raise the mug to your lips. The foreboding scent greets your nose, and you nearly gag a little at the reminder.
It doesn't stop you from chugging the rest of it.
"Ugh. Don't ever make this again. I think I can feel my blood vibrating already. I'm gonna go wake up Noya-senpai; pretty sure he's gonna insist on going to school today, but I'm gonna try to convince him to stay home."
She protests after you, but you slip away and up the stairs all the same. Noya is laying in the same spot, the same position. You sigh and come to rest on your knees beside him, laying a gentle hand on his arm. "You should stay home from school today."
"No."
So he is awake. "No one would blame you for taking some time after everything yesterday, Noya."
"I'm not skipping," he snaps. You flinch away, and he turns to look as you do. "Shit, sorry, I—I'm sorry."
"I made breakfast," you say slowly. "Even if you're not hungry, you should come downstairs and eat. Since you're so insistent on going to practice today, it won't do you any good to practice on an empty stomach."
"I really am sorry," he says weakly.
"Noya." You reach out, place a hand on his cheek. "It's okay. I'll forgive you if you get up and come eat breakfast before it gets cold or Satsuki-nee steals it."
"Satsuki's awake? There's no way."
"Satsuki-nee has not slept. She made some absolutely disgusting concoction that I'm pretty sure is currently turning my blood into motor oil? But I'm not sure. If I pass out at practice, please assume it was the poison that killed me."
He sighs, stands, and offers you a hand to help you up. "You didn't need to make breakfast."
"You needed to eat," you shrug.
"Thank you. Please marry me."
"Ask me another eight hundred fifty-eight times and I will."
Over breakfast, he compliments you sincerely but with half his usual enthusiasm, and you finish up prepping some low-effort, low-time lunches while he's spiking his hair up on your reminder. (You wouldn't have complained if he'd left it down, and normally he'd be able to endure the teasing, but, well… not today.)
On the walk to school, he is quiet. He carries your bag for you without offering, barely talks. You wish he'd stay home. You wish he'd relax a little.
Maybe it'll be good for him. He relaxes when he plays volleyball. You can always try to keep him from pushing too hard if he overdoes it. The distraction will be good for him.
Then you get to school, then practice, then you watch him shift into a completely different person, and your heart cracks audibly at the sight.
He's… eerily good at pretending to be fine. If you weren't aware of the night he had, if you hadn't held him while he cried, you wouldn't have noticed any difference. He's maybe just a touch less loud, his smile doesn't seem to quite reach his eyes, and there's moments where he might've normally said something stupid for you to pretend not to find funny, but no one else seems to suspect a thing. In practice, he's as intense as usual, if not more so. Yachi cringes as she watches him throw himself for a receive—everyone's always so intense!—and so do you, but for a completely different reason.
"You're staring at Nishinoya a lot today," Shimizu notes while you space out. "Did something happen?"
"Oh, no, I just…" You sigh. "My head's in a weird place today. Honestly, I drank straight poison this morning on a dare and I think it's turned my brain off?"
"Poison?"
"Nee-san brewed coffee with Monster energy instead of water. I can still taste it in my eyes."
She stares at you in muted horror. "Are you… okay?"
"When I space out, I can feel my teeth in my legs."
The explanation proves an effective diversion, although it does have both girls watching you more closely. You'll have to stop staring at Noya and focus on something else, however worried you may be.
Good luck with that.
~
At lunch, first thing:
[name] to Noya at 12:40
[name]: I know you're pretending everything's okay today but do you want an escape so you can stop pretending for a little bit
[name]: I can give you an extremely understandable one that no one will question the validity of before you suffocate
Noya: yes please (marry me)
Noya: would you be totally mad if I stole some of your lunch also
Noya: I uh. Forgot to make or bring one today
You roll your eyes. You'd packed two bentos this morning—nothing fancy, but food, at least, that would nourish him enough to survive the day without falling out or starving to death. Both of them travel with you to the second years' floor and Noya's classroom in particular, where he's hanging out with the other second year guys. None of them notice your entry until you're knocking a bento gently into the side of Noya's head.
"Hi," you greet the others with a nod. "Eight fifty-seven, Noya-senpai."
"Oh, [surname]-chan. You don't usually come to visit us. What's up?" Ennoshita says.
"Noya-senpai seems to have spent the past twenty-four hours gloating to me about winning a bet and then immediately forgotten that he won said bet. I've come to make sure he eats and hope he's also forgotten about the rest of the wager."
Noya snatches the bento from you with wide eyes. "Lunch date?"
"Not a date. But yes. But hey, since you're already—"
"No, don't even finish that sentence, we’re going to the roof. Sorry guys, I forgot I had a date—"
"—not a date—"
"—with [name]-san lined up, so I will be—"
"Yeah, yeah, get out of here," Ennoshita cuts him off. "[surname]-chan, you can always hit him if you need to."
You snort. "Thanks. Sorry for stealing him."
"Do we get to ask about the bet?" Tanaka says.
You pat his shoulder with a wry little smile. "Do yourself a favor and don't ask questions you're not prepared to know the answer to."
That earns you a few wide-eyed looks along with the realization that you're definitely implying something you hadn't meant to, but, oh well, innuendo's out of the, uh… closet, or something. You can always damage control later, or else simply refuse to ever elaborate and threaten to add more to Noya's quota if he elaborates. Just for a little fun.
When you're out in the hallway with him, he flashes you a grin that actually looks genuine. "Your lie to orchestrate my escape was saying we had a date?"
"Uh, no, your lie to corroborate mine was that we had a date. Losing a bet isn't romantic, and you should consider yourself lucky that I was willing to debase myself by pretending to have lost to anyone."
"I can think of a pretty big bet you're gonna lose, actually," he replies.
You scoff. "It's hardly a bet. We never even properly outlined it."
"Well, we've got a date, and talking about our wedding is lifting my mood, so let's outline it so I can win that bet, too. I can be a gambling man."
"I'm sure you can, Casanova."
It's a gloomy day, the impending threat of rain having chased most people off the roof. Absolutely perfect, in all honesty. You and Noya find the comfiest corner of the roof to curl up in and, finally away from the potential eyes of anyone he knows, the exterior he's been keeping up all morning cracks a little.
"Thank you. Really. Usually I like hanging out with everyone, but today everything just seems so…"
You nod. "I get it. Not fully, but I do get it."
"Did you seriously make me lunch?"
"Yes, and don't read into it. I had a strong feeling it would be necessary after the night you had, and I was right."
He smiles a dopey smile. "Beautiful girl making lunch for me… what did I do to get so lucky?"
A snort. "Luck's got nothing to do with it. Like I said last night, you're always taking care of me. Least I can do is make sure you eat. How're you doing? I noticed you're like, concerningly good at pretending to be okay."
"Oh, that." He shrugs. "I'm kinda used to acting all keyed-up around everyone. It's hard to turn off, honestly. Makes it easier on days like these."
"Okay, but how are you doing?"
"Will you hit me if I say better now that you're here?"
"I'd like a direct answer, if you can manage that."
He deflates a little further. "I honestly don't think I remember a single thing from any of my classes this morning, and Chikara says he's not letting me copy notes from classes I was in anymore unless I show I'm really trying."
"I'll get them for you. Right now, you just focus on eating and recovering, okay?"
He nods, unwraps the bento you made. It's completely standard—he shoots you a disappointed look. "You could've made it all cute with hearts and stuff."
"When have I ever done something cute?"
"Like, every day. I hear you talking to Soba like she's people and kissing her head all the time."
"Senpai, Soba is a cat. She deserves little kisses on her little head. It would be a crime not to give that to her."
He smiles, smug and fond all at once. "Well, it's still adorable behavior, and maybe I deserve little heart shapes in my bento."
"I'm about two quips away from crushing those spikes of yours, Senpai."
"Oh?" He raises his eyebrows. "Are you? You know if I come back from our private little rooftop date with my hair messed up, the guys are gonna think we were making out?"
Your cheeks flare. "I hate you."
"No you don't."
"Let's just hammer out this bet thing," you grumble.
"Right," he says, pausing to get a mouthful of the food you've made. "Oh my god, this is good. Does food just taste better when a pretty girl makes it?"
You roll your eyes. "Yeah, sure, if that explains things for you."
"Sho whaddid you wanna figure out to make the bet—" He pauses, swallows a mouthful of food. "—official?"
"I mean, I gave you a challenge and at some point we started saying it was a bet, but I don't get anything out of it if I win, right?"
He hums thoughtfully. "Well, if I win, you'll marry me, right?"
You nod.
"So if you win, then I'll have to marry you. Easy."
A laugh startles from your throat. "Uh-huh. That's a materially different outcome. I'll think of something for if you give up. I'll say this, because I think I only said this to Satsuki-nee and Mei-san? But my end of it holds no matter what. If you hit a thousand at any point, even if I'm with someone, I'll break up with 'em and uphold my end."
"Aw, you like me that much?"
"Focus, Casanova."
He nods, swallows another concerningly large mouthful of rice. "You plan on dating while this is happening?"
"I mean, not really, but we're also not like… together. We're both still on the market right now, technically."
"You wouldn't get pissed off at me for continuing to propose to you while you're in a relationship with someone else?"
"Why would I? We're just friends until something happens to change that. I do think that there should probably be an official give-up option for you. I mean, otherwise, you can just pick it back up later. I guess probably just that you have to outright say if you're giving up?"
The door to the rooftop opens. Your eyes dart towards the noise mostly on instinct and land on the new arrival.
Oh. Asuka.
"Hey, there you are, [surname]-san!" he says, waving when he spots you. "I was looking for you. Am I interrupting?"
"Not really," you say at the same time that Noya says, "yes". You shoot him a Look™ before turning back to Asuka. "What's up, Asuka-san?"
"Can I get some pictures of your notes from Saturday? I had some questions about the content, and… basically, I could just use your help if you've got time."
You wince a little. "I, uh, left my bag in the classroom, sorry. I could help you out tomorrow?"
"I've got science in the mornings, though, and you know how the teacher is for that class… she said something about there being a quiz for our class tomorrow and I really don't want to do a bad job. Can't you come help me out real quick?"
You glance to Noya. Bat his arm gently when you realize he's glaring down Asuka. "Stop that," you whisper. He only drops the expression slightly, but at least it's an improvement. Still, you're not leaving him to eat alone right now. "I'm sorry, Asuka-san, but it is actually not the best time for more than a quick question. You can ask me any particular questions you have now, or I could help you out before practice."
For just a moment, you swear a storm crosses his face, but in the next moment, it's gone, replaced with a boyish smile. "Right. Sorry to bother you. I'll come find you after school lets out?"
"Sure, I can work with that. Do you mind if I hang out here for lunch?" He moves to sit with you and Noya, but Noya is not having that. He shoots his leg out, just a bit too far to be taken as anything other than an intentional no the hell you don't. His foot rests just where Asuka was about to sit.
"She's busy right now. She just told you to talk to her later."
Asuka smiles back, unbothered. "Oh, are you her boyfriend? Last I checked, she didn't have one."
You blink. "You checked?"
"Never mind that. I can tell I'm not really welcome here, so I'll catch you later, [surname]-san. Sorry to bother you."
Asuka leaves. As his back retreats behind the rooftop door, your jaw drops, and you hit Noya again, slightly harder this time. "What was that?"
He's unabashed. "He was interrupting. You're with me for lunch today. And who was that guy?"
"That was Asuka-san. He's a friend, you ass. Could you maybe not chase my friends off?"
His gaze hardens at the name. "Asuka? Satsuki told me a little about him. He's bad news."
"What, were you keeping tabs?"
He shrugs. "She's sleeping with his sister right now, 'sall. She has a whole information broker thing going, anyway. Keep your distance, alright?"
"From who?" You roll your eyes, the anger ticking up. "From the guy who just wanted some science notes, or from the one who's apparently secretly gathering information on my friends and chasing them off if they dare to talk to me?"
He flinches. "I just—"
"You're overstepping, Noya. I know you're going through some shit right now, and I can shut him down myself if I need to, but you're also going too far. Stop."
He falls quiet. He doesn't apologize. The two of you stew in uncomfortable silence for the rest of lunch.
44. I had to check and, while the formula of Monster is slightly different in Japan (something about not containing tannins?) they do have Monster energy drinks. I have a heart condition and can survive drinking neither coffee nor energy drinks, so I have not tested Satsuki's concoction for fear that existing within the same room as it would kill me instantly. (I also do not own a coffee maker for this reason.) A friend has assured me that this is suitably cursed, seeing as the brewing process would completely fuck with the carbonation of the Monster even before we factor in what kind of flavor that would have. Please do not try this concoction at home.

Hiii, I hope you’re doing well!
I saw a post on twitter that says “you think you’re asking for too much until you find someone who does it naturally” and I thought it was fitting Kagaao
So I was wondering if you could write a bit about that because I know you can make magic with them 😂🫶
Omg yesss!!!! This fits them perfectly!!!
When I read this, I just imagined Daiki having one of his depression days. No energy to leave his house and go to Taiga’s apartment, he locks himself in his dark bedroom and hides under his heavy comforters. On days like these, he doesn’t even bother to switch his phone to not disturb.
He just turns it off completely and sleeps the day away, pausing here and there to skim through one of his Mai-Chan mags, fuck himself with one of his toys that Taiga got him, or stare blankly up at the ceiling as he contemplates his life on earth, cause what’s the fuck’s the point of living if he falls out of love with basketball again? Or if Taiga leaves him? It’s only a matter of time. Everyone leaves eventually.
During these episodes, he struggles to leave his room. Like he wants to and shit, but he just can’t. He’s read all his Mai-Chan mags a thousand times and had meant to get the new one that’d just come out last weekend but he’d put it off all week like a dumbass. So he’s lacking satisfaction.
He gets hungry too, stomach growling incessantly for food. He’s fucking craving teriayaki burgers and fries with a banana shake to wash it all down, but he can’t find the strength to get out of bed. Lacking nutrition.
He’ll need a shower too before he leaves (if he leaves) and the last time he took one was yesterday morning. Lacking cleanliness. Lacking clean clothes. Fuck everything.
He’s just rotting and suffering alone today. Until he hears footsteps outside his bedroom and knocking on his door.
“Dai….”
Taiga
“Baby, can I come in?”
Daiki says nothing, just huddles deeper under his covers as he hears the door open with a small creak. He feels pissed even though his heart flutters at the sound of his boyfriend’s voice. He wants to be alone today. Even his mom knows not to bother him on days like this. Fucking Satsuki even knows not to bother him on days like this.
Crinkling and rustling can be heard as Taiga makes his way to the bed, stepping over a mix of clean and dirty clothes and pushing aside garbage and discarded magazines.
Hope you like my depression room, you dick
There’s sounds of things being placed on the bedside table before the mattress dips with someone else’s weight. Daiki’s cheeks burn as Taiga gently lifts his blankets and slips beneath them, slotting himself behind the bluenette’s curled form.
The heat, normally a comfort, feels foreign today, misplaced but not unwanted. Not really. Daiki closes his eyes as Taiga’s arms wrap around his waist and he lets himself be pulled backwards into a warm big chest, his own chest deflating with a small sigh at the contact.
“Don’t wanna leave you alone today,” Taiga mumbles knowingly into unkempt blue hair, dropping some kisses to the strands. “Sorry.”
Heart warm, Daiki stays silent, finding Taiga’s foot with his and linking their ankles together. Can’t be by himself today huh…maybe company won't be such a bad thing.
Taking the gesture as a sign of acceptance, Taiga tightens his grip on the bluenette’s waist and busies himself with the side of his head, pressing kisses and making a soft trail down to the shell of his ear, the lobe, down his neck and back up to his cheek.
Breath by measured breath, Daiki slowly feels alive again…
-
They do this for the rest of the day, cuddling and napping with small breaks in between. Mid afternoon, Taiga wakes Daiki up with kisses and makes him eat something.
He’d brought him takeout and the newest Mai-Chan Magazine: a heap of teriyaki burgers and fries with an extra large banana shake to wash it all down, and a fresh, unwrinkled mag with his favorite idol in a maid outfit on the cover.
Daiki almost cries and gets a nosebleed. Almost. He wants to cry but if he did, Taiga might throw one of his annoying worry fits so he doesn’t, but his eyes do tear up and his throat feels rough as the redhead spreads all the food out across bed, setting up the laptop that Daiki’d left at his apartment two days ago in front of them so they could watch one of the bluenette’s favorite comfort animes: my neighbor Totoro.
Slumped with his back against his redhead’s chest, they watch the movie, Taiga’s loud chewing in Daiki’s ear, not as deafening as it usually is. Pouting, he even lets the older hand feed him his food (just for today- he gets a pass, he’s not himself) until he gets sleepy and they take another nap, this one less heavy, more light, the feeling of emptiness he felt in the morning, almost washed clean from his skin.
Nap, break to eat some more and finish the movie. Nap. Break to worship every ounce of his Mai-Chan treasure as Taiga watches him unamused yet fond, fingers in his hair, arm holding him close, keeping him tight against him. Nap. Break to cuddle. Nap. Finally ready for a bubble bath.
Content and well rested, Daiki loops his arms around Taiga’s neck and holds on tight as the redhead carries him bridal style to the bathroom where he runs the warm water and undresses him with gentle hands. Once placed inside the bubbly tub, Daiki hums appreciatively and rests back against the bath pillow Taiga had bought him, letting the heat seep into his bones as eucalyptus, one of his favorite scents calms his senses.
After a long soak and a scalp massage that almost puts him to sleep, Daiki’s ready to get out. He makes no protest as Taiga drains the tub and scoops him up again, wrapping him up into a warm, fuzzy towel burrito (the fucking towel hot and cozy, having just come out of the dryer- when the fuck did Kags have time to do the laundry?)
Once Daiki’s hair is thoroughly dried, the redhead carries him back to his bedroom where he dresses him in a sweatshirt and sweats and tucks him back into bed, turning off the light and hopping in after making sure his bluenette is comfortable.
By now, it’s nighttime and Daiki’s tired again. He yawns and snuggles into Taiga’s chest, breathing in the scent of home as big arms cradle him tight, fingernails skimming up and down his back in gentle motions.
”You up for cleaning your room tomorrow,” Taiga whispers lowly into his hair.
Daiki shrugs, almost out already, the steady heartbeat against his ear lulling him to sleep. “Sure. ‘S long as I’m not doing it by myself.”
A snort, then a kiss against his scalp. “Idiot. Of course you’re not doing it by yourself.”
I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you
Just as he opens his mouth to put his thoughts into words, Taiga beats him to it. “I love you.”
I know you do.
“I love you too…thanks for today. I needed this.”
He did. More than anything and of course Taiga knew that. That dumbass knew everything. Daiki didn’t even have to say anything and Taiga knew what he needed; what would make him feel better.
“Well I needed you, so I guess we’re even now.”
”…Guess we are.”
THE END
and of course Daiki falls asleep to Taiga’s murmured praises about how much he means to him.
Thanks @kagaomine510 for sending me this! This was so fun to write! Fuck I love them so much. It’s unreal how much Kagami loves Aomine, like seriously. His world literally revolves around the bluenette (and basketball, and food)

Hand over some Teruya/Kinji headcanons‼️
hihi! sorry for takin so long on this!! i was doing splatoons grand festival all weekend!!
but yes i can give u some of my thoughts on these guys >:)
adding a read more bc it got a little long whoopsie
ok so first off! my sexuality + gender hcs for them;
- kinji is transmasc and nonbinary (they/he) and he's gay (mlm, nblm, nblnb), his identity causes him some distress due to his role in the church and his father being generally unaccepting of queer identities (he also hides his true identity when at home, hopes peak is the first time hes publicly himself)
- teruya is agender (he/him) and gay as well, he does not struggle with his identity, but he did take a while to realize he only liked boys/non-women. he rly thought his dad wanted him to marry a woman, but it turns out his dad is very pan and doesnt care who he dates as long as hes happy :)
ive got a couple different scenarios that i have different scenarios based on what happens in them and ill just list some stuff from all of em
firstly the general stuff that happens no matter what !
- teruya is initially appealing to kinji simply because he's loud but not in your face about it (usually), kinji also really respects that teruya stands very firm on his beliefs
- teruya also has a really good memory, so he remembers gifts and things that kinji likes, he just gives him stuff he likes every now and then, and kinji finds it really sweet
- teruya also makes silly accessories for kinji, theyre all tacky and rainbow themed but he doesnt mind :)
- they both really enjoy healthy food so they end up bonding over that
- kinji eventually gets adopted into teruyas friend group (haru, satsuki, kiyoka), they got along in the gambling extra event (minus kiyoka), so i think theyd be friends!
- kinji ends up close with kiyoka who can see right through him, she KNOWS he likes teruya, but she wont pressure him (too much)
- also teruya just thinks that kinji is so pretty :)
next up is the stuff i have for the ch 3 survivor au (i will get/have gotten to a lot of this in art, so ill probably have less here)
- teruya is initially stuck with kinji because he is the only one who has medical knowledge (they say this ingame), and due to this he ends up being the closest with kinji
- despite teruyas lil breakdown in ch 4, kinji still ends up defending him in the trial due to having gone through something similar previously, and this is kinda when it clicks for real that teruya might like kinji more than he thought
- they both bond over how much they value family, teruya with his dad and kinji with the church kids being the most valued people in their lives. they both respect this about each other immensely over it
- teruya and kinji grow closer after being kind of outcasted in ch 5. teruya had recently lost his two friends, and tsurugi, rei, akane, yuki, and mikako are either standoffish, not willing to get close, or out of commission for one reason or another. they get much closer in this chapter
- they dont actually become a thing until after they escape
now i have stuff that happened if there was no killing game
- without the killing game, they would just be more of acquaintances longer, since the game isnt there to push them to interact
- eventually kinji is the first to realize he does like teruya, and this causes Internal Religious Conflict for him. being a catholic priest means that you cannot love anyone above anyone else your love must be equal. along with this, if kinji chooses to stop being a priest while in high school, he will no longer be able to attend hope's peak, as he would basically be giving up his title.
- kinji suffers from religious trauma, despite the fact that he finds comfort in his religion. this is because most of the guilt weighing on him is caused by his father, so they are rather estranged.
- this trauma isnt something thats fixed relatively easily, but to keep it short, teruya does eventually try to help him become his own person and cope with the trauma. teruya's free spirit really helps this.
- after graduation, kinji would likely prefer to be a pastor over a priest so he can have more freedom with romance.
- he also ends up working at otori mart with teruya, and they have a lil garden together at their home :)
one more extra thing! topic of marriage and kids!
- in any au where kinji lives, so like all of the above, teruya is intending to ask kinji to marry him, its just whether or not the killing games happening defines if he gets to or not
- when they do marry, kinji takes teruya's last name
- in a very specific branch of the kinji survivor au, which i call foundation baby au (this au hinges on mikado never starting the sdra2 killing game), kinji and teruya have a child (through a surrogate mother, setsuka!) named Takara!
- teruya wants to be a good dad like his father, and kinji already likes to take care of children, so its only natural that theyd want one of their own
- Takara calls teruya "papa" and kinji "daddy"
- they raise takara in a way where they can choose their identity and whether or not they believe in religion. takara has found out that they identify as nonbinary and gay (like fathers like child) and that they do want to take part in kinji's religion, they just dont do it as much
- takara interacts with everyone at the kisaragi foundation in some way, theyre like their big mostly-happy family!
- kinji and teruya are very good parents!!
