it's SO funny that when asked what he had to do to prepare for his role in IWTV Sam Reid says he had to learn how to play the piano, learn to speak French, Italian, and English with a French accent. just because trans men/mascs are erased doesnt mean that we arent oppressed or are oppressed less than trans women/fems

you just refuse to see our oppression or you attribute it to someone else

trans men/mascs ARE the ones blamed for “transing autistic girls” through our blogs, youtube channels, etc. saying that trans women/fems are the ones mainly blamed for that is just plain false

trans men/mascs also have wayyyy higher statistics of corrective rape and assault, we are denied medical care for that assault too. we also are denied basic reproductive medical care when we transition. in addition to this trans men/mascs have much higher suicide rates than trans women/fems

those arent the only areas our oppression/discrimination is unique or higher either

no, youre NOT oppressed more because youre transfem. we are all oppressed because we are trans equally. there are certain areas where trans men/mascs have it worse and there are areas where trans women/fems have it worse but no one group of trans people is oppressed more than the others and youre a gender essentialist if you think so

The idea that uni protesters are "elitist ivy-league rich kids larping as revolutionaries" on Twitter and Reddit and even here is so fucking funny to me if you actually know anything about the student bodies at these unis. Take it from someone who's going to one of the biggest private unis in the US, 80% of the peers I know are either from the suburbs or an apartment somewhere in America, children of immigrants, or here on a student visa. I've heard about one-percenter students, but I've never met one in person. Like, don't get me wrong, the institution as a whole is still very privileged and white. I've talked with friends and classmates about feeling weird or dissonant being here and coming from such a different background. But in my art program, I see BIPOC, disabled, queer, lower-income students and faculty trying to deconstruct and tear that down and make space every day. So to take a cursory glance at a crowd of student protesters in coalitions that are led by BIPOC & 1st/2nd-gen immigrant students and HQ'd in ethnic housings and student organizations and say, "ah. children of the elite." Get real.
