Holidays with a narcissistic mother be like:
“We’re eating low sodium this year because I just started my low sodium diet today and I expect the entire household to eat the way I do so I won’t be tempted to eat something I’m not supposed to.”
She complained about the mountain of stuff she had to do for dinner. And then all she ended up doing was peeling and chopping potatoes. She didn’t cook them, didn’t mash them. I made nearly everything else (except the bread, more on that later).
She sits in the kitchen while you’re trying to cook, watching Facebook videos on her phone. She doesn’t help, but she sure does plant herself right in the way so you have to go around her. And then when dinner is two seconds away from being finished, she asks, “Do you want me to make that?”
Literally only having mashed potatoes and peas for dinner because she’s too impatient to wait for the entire meal to cook and she wants to eat RIGHT NOW.
When I offered to make apple pie, she said no. “I’ll just go buy it.” (Which was then nixed because of her low sodium diet so…no pie for anyone this year).
She absolutely insisted that her golden child make the bread despite the fact I’ve made the bread for many years running at Thanksgiving. Golden child can’t cook for shit though. The bread is hard as a rock, flat, dry, and tasteless. And mother insists everyone MUST eat it.
She randomly decides to wash the dog. In your bathroom. Even though her bathroom is perfectly functional. She leaves the place an absolute and utter MESS and just…walks away. If you have a problem with it, YOU can clean it up.
She cracks underhanded comments about how NO ONE EVER helps her in the kitchen for holiday dinners. It’s ALL on her shoulders and she’s SO tired of it and NO ONE appreciates her efforts!!!
A bag of specialty chocolates had been purchased early in November with the intent to save them for Thanksgiving as a holiday treat. She ate every single one weeks ago. She did not replace them. When she is asked where the chocolates are, she just smiles and says, “They’re all gone.”

I hate how people will look at popular indie artists who had one or two songs go viral on TikTok and start making fun of anybody who listens to them. "Oh you listen to Lemon Demon, Will Wood, Jack Stauber, Glass Animals, and Mother Mother? Tsk, don't you know that is stupid TikTok neurodivergent white transmasc preteen music? It's so mid and bad you should listen to real music–" you are a pit of misery

[image id: a four-page comic. it is titled "immortality” after the poem by clare harner (more popularly known as “do not stand at my grave and weep”). the first page shows paleontologists digging up fossils at a dig. it reads, “do not stand at my grave and weep. i am not there. i do not sleep.” page two features several prehistoric creatures living in the wild. not featured but notable, each have modern descendants: horses, cetaceans, horsetail plants, and crocodilians. it reads, “i am a thousand winds that blow. i am the diamond glints on snow. i am the sunlight on ripened grain. i am the gentle autumn rain.” the third page shows archaeopteryx in the treetops and the skies, then a modern museum-goer reading the placard on a fossil display. it reads, “when you awaken in the morning’s hush, i am the swift uplifting rush, of quiet birds in circled flight. i am the soft stars that shine at night. do not stand at my grave and cry.” the fourth page shows a chicken in a field. it reads, “i am not there. i did not die” / end id]
a comic i made in about 15 hours for my school’s comic anthology. the theme was “evolution”

Everytime I see posts like this I get filled with such profound sadness
Cause you know who has the same brainrot as you? The same unhinged feelings as you after you've read the fic? The person who always wants to scream about the fic with you?
THE PERSON WHO WROTE IT
I never used to leave comments but since I got into the habit of commenting on everything i enjoy it's been incredible. Especially when the author gets back to me about it and we get to have a discussion of what other ideas they had. One writer replied to my comment with a 5 paragraph essay detailing the Floorplan of the building the characters lived in and it was incredible
Anyways this is all to say that if you find a fic that just makes you want to scream from the rooftops, leave a comment saying that to the author and maybe they will join you and you can scream incoherently together
