Kinktober Day 16: Hate-Fucked
Male Rival Yandere x Male Reader CW: PAINFUL noncon, bloody non-con, oral sex, face-fucking, cum swallowing, kidnapping, non-sexual bondage, piss, reader pissed on in shower, OC hates reader then turns yandere, sadism, sadistic yandere, protective yandere, mind-broken reader, briefly feminized reader, forced crossdressing, brief display of homophobia/f-slur, psychological damage, violence, minor character death, WHUMP, angst but eventual comfort, weapons-grade Stockholm Syndrome, Dead Dove: DO NOT EAT Word Count: 4.1k (Oh lordy, this one is brutal. Hope you enjoy it anyway. Not betaread so please excuse any errors. The longest fic of kinktober and the finale. I wish you all a Scary Hexmas and hope this Hexmas time meal is filling. Don't forget to comment <3)
Will. Fucking. Hated. You.
He had ever since he first met you in grade school. It seemed that no matter what he did, you always had to show him up. The only area he seemed to do better than you was in popularity. But that just didn't fulfill him enough.
Will wanted real acknowledgment that he was better than you could ever be. He wanted it reflected in his grades and in the opinions of the teachers. He wanted absolutely everyone to see he was better than you.
He wanted you to see it, too.
But despite all of his unmitigated vitriol towards you, you always ignored it and treated him with kindness. You figured maybe he had a bad home life or some other difficulty that made him take it out on you. His behavior still made you cry sometimes... but you really wanted to make everyone like you. You were a people pleaser, and you wanted him to be happy.
But it infuriated him, stoked the embers of his hatred for you into a full-on inferno every single time you did it. To him, it was clear evidence that you thought you were better than him. That you were above him. Morally superior.
As if poor trash like you could be better than him.
He knew all your kind behavior was a farce to make him look bad. To taunt him.
One time, when Will had been out of school with a broken leg, you had gotten the entire class to join you in sending him get well cards. You had even made homemade cupcakes. He was sure you were laughing at him!!! Goading him. And convincing everyone you were so great at the same time. Fucking piece of shit.
No matter what you did in life Will couldn't stop following your path until he proved he was the better man. He was obsessed.
When you went to a small cheap college, he dutifully followed you to it. His family was immensely wealthy. He could have gone to a much more prestigious university, he could have just gotten a job in his father's company, but he didn't want to use his money or connections to prove he was better than lowly scum like you. He wanted you to see he was better in every metric.
And he had to be there to see your face when you were finally defeated.
He even went into your field so he could do the same courses. So he could prove that you were a piece of shit to be discarded in comparison to him.
Since you were going to school to be a nurse for the elderly, you saw Will's obsessive competition not as a crazy need to prove you to be inferior to him but instead as absolute proof that he was secretly a wonderful person. For how could someone so devoted to the care of the old possibly be bad? Especially when nurses were paid relatively little and he had come from such a wealthy background! It wasn’t exactly a glamorous job.
So you still treated him with kindness. It was okay that he didn't like you. Now that you knew he was actually sweet below that prickly exterior, you could laugh off all his cruel behavior towards you much more easily.
This was unacceptable to him.
When you both graduated, he even went to work at the same nursing home as you. This gave you the impression that maybe he was a bit crazy over you. But not in the way that he actually was. You thought he had a crush on you. You thought all his meanness towards you was probably internalized homophobia with his following you through life proof of him really liking you.
You made the conscious effort to make Will happier and be even nicer to him now that you were sure you knew the truth.
That isn’t how he saw you doubling down on kindness.
Taunting him. Taunting him. Taunting him. That's all you ever did. Flaunting it for years. Pretending to be unaffected by him. As if he was an insignificant speck of dust that did nothing to you. That's how he interpreted your behavior. He hated you so much.
The final straw was when you threw Will a small surprise birthday party in the break room at work. Of course, he had to pretend to love it. Eat your overly sweet homemade cake.
To him, it was the ultimate humiliation. He had to pretend to like it. To thank you for the cake and the gift you gave him. A gift card to his favorite store.
You were just so smug. Thought you had pulled a great victory over him, he was sure. It wasn't like he could say anything. If he did, he would sound crazy. No one would believe him if he told them that you threw him the party just to anger and embarrass him.
Will snapped. He didn't show it, though. He acted calm for days as he slowly readied his revenge. He readied his basement and got all the required supplies for his self-appointed task. His reason for being. To break you and get revenge for the countless times you had made a fool of him.
For days after the party, Will had acted a lot calmer and less aggressive towards you. No more mean or sarcastic comments at your expense. You thought that maybe he was finally getting to a point where he was accepting his feelings.
But you couldn't have been more wrong. Will didn’t have to retaliate to perceived slights. You were beneath him, and he was finally going to prove it to you in every sense of the word.
You had stayed late at the hospital. Will waited for you to leave and followed you out into the parking lot. You had walked to work since the weather had been so pleasant, and since it was such a short distance from your house, you had to pass through the nearly vacant parking lot to go home.
As you passed his car, Will reached out from the shadows and grabbed you. Before you could scream, he held a cloth over your mouth with a strong hand. You struggled profusely until the chloroform overwhelmed you, and your body went completely limp. Will briefly noted that you looked kind of peaceful and cute before stuffing such gross thoughts aside. He quickly tied you up and hogtied you before stuffing you into his trunk and driving off. The journal you kept in your pocket fell out in the trunk.
His house was several miles outside of town. It was a long drive, long enough for you to regain consciousness, but that’s what your binds were for.
You were understandably terrified and disoriented. You had not even seen who had grabbed you, and they hadn’t spoken either, so you had no idea who had nabbed you or what they wanted.
When the car finally stopped, you heard your attacker snicker after opening the trunk. You redoubled your efforts to break free of your binds. But the rope that held you was too sturdy for that. Your abductor picked you up with some effort and quickly carried you into a building. You could only tell because the air changed and the sound of the door closing behind you.
You began screaming and shrieking into your gag, but succeeded only in hurting your own throat. Even if the screams had not been muffled by the cloth gagging your mouth, there were no other houses within earshot of you. And this wasn’t an area with any traffic either. Will had thought this all out.
You heard the rattling of chains and felt the cold touch of a metal collar around your neck. He rummaged through your pockets to take your phone, then your clothing was peeled away, and the binds around your arms replaced with handcuffs restraining your arms painfully behind you. The gag muffling your screams was removed, and you began sobbing pleas for your freedom.
The last thing taken from you was the blindfold. You stared up in confusion, not believing for a moment who you saw. Will, looking down at you with insane erratic green eyes and a smile that left a chill on your very soul. His medium length brown hair was unkempt, adding to the terrifying visage before you.
“Wha..? Will… Plea-!!”
You were interrupted by a sharp slap to the face that made your eyes water.
“Shut the fuck up! I am the one talking here. You don’t get to manipulate me with your smug words… I have been waiting so long to put you in your place. I think we should commemorate the moment!”
The unhinged man rummaged in a drawer until he pulled out a camera and took a few pictures of your sorry state. He put the camera away and produced a sharp knife from his pocket which he then held up to your oh so delicate throat. You sobbed more fervently.
“Aw, you’re crying already? We haven’t even gotten to the fun yet! We need to pace ourselves.”
His breathing was heavy. Like he was infusing his sadistic desires into the air with each breath he pulled into his lungs.
“Let’s make one thing clear from the start, if you try to escape or fight back, I will slit your throat. Do you understand?”
You nodded shakily. You knew you wouldn’t stand a chance against him in a fight. Even if he didn’t have the knife, he was still a very fit man.
“I am just SO excited… What should we do first… What will show I am better than you?”
As he sat down on the edge of a large bed a few feet from you and mumbled to himself you finally had a chance to catch your breath and try to calm the slightest bit down while you took in your foreign surroundings. You were in a neat, sparsely furnished room that appeared to be a basement. You were chained by the neck to a pole that was behind you. Only a scratchy blanket separated your bare skin from the cold concrete below. The bed he was on looked out of place, as if it had recently been moved down here, but it was clearly not for you.
“I know!”
Will walked up to you and pulled out his erect cock, evidently excited by having you under his control. He pressed the head of the thick appendage against your lips while smiling maniacally down at you in the same way that he had before, his meaning clear.
“Well hurry and get started then. And if you bite I think you know what will happen.”
Your jaw ached as you sucked him clumsily. It was rather large and you were rather inexperienced. It didn’t help that your hands were unavailable to help you grip the shaft to speed up the process. As he got closer and closer to orgasm he became more forceful. First humping into your mouth steadily and eventually gripping each side of your head hard and violently fucking your face until you thought you were going to pass out.
“You better not spill any!”
Finally he slammed down your throat, pressing your nose into his curly pubes, and came hard. You gagged but managed to swallow it all as he pulled out.
“Fuck. Maybe you were made to suck my cock. That was the best nut I think I have ever had. Don’t forget to clean it.”
After gasping for a moment you licked his cock clean of cum and saliva and he put it back in his pants. You had fantasized about doing things with him, but never like this.
You sobbed and asked why he was doing this, and he immediately put a stop to it by punching you in the gut, leaving you reeling.
“I still don’t want to hear your bitching.”
“You should know why. This is what you get for always looking down on me and having everyone convinced that you’re so great!”
He got in bed before continuing.
“You always thought you could compete with me, make people think you were better, outdoing me. But now you know you’re beneath me. I don’t know about you but I am tired from all the excitement, I need rest.”
Sleep did not come easily for you as painfully restrained as you still were, but eventually, you silently sobbed yourself into a state of unconsciousness. It was a fitful rest, one plagued by nightmares.
You awoke to the sight of Will leering down at you.
"Hey, sleeping beauty! I’m off this weekend, so we will have the next couple of days all to ourselves. I wanted more time, but I couldn’t take vacation right as you went missing. So we'll just have to make the best of it.”
Your lip quivered in fear of the horrors Will had in store for you. It was a warranted response. He started the day by having you gag on his morning wood and licking his nuts and dick clean of the cum that dribbled down them when he came.
You got smacked for spilling a drop, but it wasn’t as brutal as your treatment the night before.
Then he decided that you needed a shower so he hosed you down with cold water in the basement’s bathroom, the chilling concrete room had a drain in the floor making it a very convenient location for Will to torment you in as he did not need to worry about flooding. The concrete exasperated the chill. While the water was still running he took a moment to further degrade you by whipping out his half-hard cock and taking his morning piss all over you.
After that he noticed you sobbing silently again, your naked form shivering with anxiety, fear, and of course the bitter cold.
“Awe, are you crying like a little girly? Maybe you should be dressed like one then…”
A light bulb seemed to go off in your abuser’s mind.
“Hey, give me a minute!”
He tied you back up painfully before leaving abruptly. He came back with a maid outfit from a costume store down the street, it was October so it was open for Halloween.
"You look like such a slut in that, like the filthy whore you are."
You continued looking away in shame and humiliation.
"I bet you have a cunt like a girl's too. Bet you want to get railed by a real man."
"Stop it Will! A-anything but that! Please... I'm sorry!!"
That only pissed him off.
"You're not making the demands here slut!" He smacked you hard across the face, causing you to yelp.
"And you're not sorry yet... but you will be..."
He dragged you over and tossed you on the bed. You were shaking, crying into the pillowless mattress. You wanted to run but were terrified of what he would do. He was much stronger than you.
You heard the sound of him undoing his belt and pulling down his pants.
He spit on his cock and rubbed it to full length. Just enough lube so he could enter you. Not enough to do anything to bring you comfort.
The mattress sank with his additional weight as he got on. He positioned you with your ass up and moved the skirt of the maid outfit to show off your ass. You sobbed more. What had you done to deserve this? Had you hurt him somehow? Had he mistaken something someone else did for your own actions?
Will gripped your hips, nails biting into your flesh. He pulled you back hard and thrust forward at the same time. It felt like fire. His cock split your ass brutally and you screamed as loudly as you could. Will smirked. Music to his ears.
"Don't pretend that you don't want it. This is what fags like you are made for!"
A smack echoed as he slapped your ass but you didn't even register it beneath the all consuming pain of him violating you in such a brutal manner.
Will kept slamming into you over and over. Pulling out almost fully each time before thrusting back in as hard as he could. When he saw blood on his cock it only encouraged him. It wasn't like Will was into blood or anything. He wasn't really a sadist at all under normal circumstances, but he certainly was when it came to you. He was finally putting the trash that mocked and looked down on him in his place. The blood, tears, and choked sobs of pain were just evidence of that.
It felt like the violation was going on for an eternity. The burning pain was unrelenting as he mocked and teased you the whole time. You didn't even know he was talking anymore, and due to straining your voice, you could no longer scream. Will finally drove into you deeply and came hard. He stayed in a moment and let his cock twitch and pulse cum into you. He had totally owned you.
But when his anger ebbed away and he pulled out he saw the blood stained cum flow out of your abused hole. He saw your shaking crying form gripping the sheets tightly. He heard your ragged, uneasy breaths. He knew you were having a panic attack.
What was wrong? This was what he had wanted, wasn't it? To break you. But now that he had, he could only stare in horror at what he had done to you. Even if you had snubbed your nose at him and thought yourself superior, this wasn't a proportional response. Nothing could justify... this...
Will cleaned himself off haphazardly and pulled his pants back up. Then he removed the clothing from your body and picked you up.
He had to make things better.
You weren't aware of your surroundings. You had mostly withdrawn into your own mind. You kept mumbling that you were sorry over and over into his chest.
"No, no, no. Shhh. Don't be. I'm sorry. I'm the bad one... Shit, I'm so sorry..."
His words went past your ears, and you continued your chant-like apology over and over and over. Your brain just couldn't accept that someone could hate you so much without you having done something to deserve it.
Tears threatened to roll down his face, but he wouldn't let them. It was his fault. He wasn't the victim here.
Why had he done this? Because of some childish rivalry that may have only been in his head? No, he couldn't accept that it was in his head. Not yet. He couldn't just let go of the years of animosity towards you he had been harboring. But... still... he obviously took things way too far...
Will drew a bath and placed you in it gently. A stark contrast to how he had treated you up until this point. He washed you carefully, meticulously cleaning the wounds he had inflicted to prevent infection.
You slumped against the tub, eyes staring at nothing, as he washed you of all the filth and blood he had marred you with.
The rest of the weekend passed, and you had scarcely improved. You still muttered apologies and could manage to use the restroom on your own, but he had to feed you himself.
He didn't know what he was going to do. He hadn't actually planned on what to do when he was done brutalizing you. He couldn't just let you leave. There was no way he was going to prison. If he did, you'd be dumped in some psych ward and forgotten about.
He no longer needed the pictures he had taken to blackmail you as you were practically catatonic anyway. You couldn't care for yourself in this state at all.
Your abductor refused to leave you there while he returned to work, and without you 6 had no reason to go back anyway. He had been worried that it would be suspicious if the two of you disappeared on the same day, but he had your phone and just had to make up a scenario that would keep people away. Neither of you were particularly close to anyone, so it wouldn't be difficult.
The excuse he gave was that the two of you were going to move back to your hometown and get high paying jobs working for your father. He figured he could take care of you himself for a week or two while he got things worked out with his dad. Then he could take you with him to a new house there and hire a discrete caretaker to watch you while he was at work.
During the time before the move Will would sometimes get fed up with you and have to catch himself before he screamed or accused you of faking to guilt trip him.
As the week went on, he even caught himself thinking it was a bit cute when you were sleeping while he held you. He had to remind himself constantly that even though he went way too far, you were still in the wrong somewhat for how you had acted.
And then, while he was cleaning his trunk to pack your belongings he had retrieved from your place, he found your journal in his trunk and its contents finally got through to him. It detailed your crush on him and how you thought he must have one on you because of how he behaved towards you. It went on about your thoughts and feelings about your coworkers and all your interactions with them, including all the kind things you went out of your way to do to make them all happy.
It was obvious to him now that you were a real-life cinnamon roll. Part of the reason people liked you was because they could exploit your kindness, and they clearly had. And he had done far worse than that.
There was only one thing he could possibly do to even begin to make things right. He wasn't into men like you were, but he would be your boyfriend and eventual husband.
He would also make you his assistant at his new job so he could watch over you personally. It wasn't like he had to devote much time to work. He had an upper management position and could delegate most tasks. You had begun to do more basic things for yourself when directed so you could eat and sit and look busy so no one would suspect anything.
Eventually, after months of delicate, tender care, you were able to speak more and think properly again. Though you were still a nervous mess occasionally plagued by vivid nightmares that replayed what you had experienced. You never dared trying to escape. The lessons of obedience you had learned your first days with Will had been ingrained deeply within your psyche. And with your newfound anxiety, you couldn't really take care of yourself completely alone. You were dependent on him for employment.
Well, at least your boyfriend treated you kindly by that point. As if you were a porcelain doll that would crumble to dust under the slightest mean gaze.
In fact, rude employees had been fired for even shooting you a glare. And when there was a jealous bitch that had mean words to say about his darling assistant and lover? Some hired goons provided her with a broken nose one dark night.
When Will announced his engagement to you, his father objected because of your lower status and humble origins. He screamed at you directly accusing you of being a gold digging whore unworthy of his son. You curled up in the corner of the room, crying and trembling. Soon after that his father came down with a terrible case of sudden onset poisoned to fucking death with an untraceable toxin that gave him a stroke, a common enough cause of death for a man of his age.
Will wouldn't let anything threaten or hurt you. And if that meant his dad had to die, then so be it. You were his responsibility. But beyond that, what had started with him taking accountability for his actions towards you had slowly evolved into genuine love and care for you.
It took a long time, but eventually, your feelings towards him evolved into love, too. You would always be a little broken, a little fearful of him, but he was the only person you really had, he had isolated you thoroughly and was constantly in your presence, so it was inevitable that you'd start to see him in a better light.

Hi Devo! If it's okay to call you that, I just wanted to say I'm a big big fan of your work and you made me fall in love with your silly doodles and masterpieces. First time sending in an ask considering how long I've been following you but I've gathered to courage to write my little love letter to you. I just wanted to ask how you color/render and how you study art? I love how your colors flow seamlessly into one another, and how your art just tickles my brain.
Anyways! Kuuya is so boyfailure and I love him but Asa. OH MY GOD ASA.
I want him so bad it's uncanny. His ears are so cute I just want to bite them. I want to unlock new things inside him. I want to do things to him. Literally all your submissive and breedable ocs will make me drool like a dog. Kuuya was my first love but Asa will be my last. I will kidnap him, carry him bridal style while he's in a wedding dress, and then kiss him silly. He will work at home and will make silly little things for the bedroom /hj.
(我想要对他做一些难以启齿的事情。我希望他属于我,让他崇拜我。我真想揪他的头发,让他发牢骚。他是我可爱的狗。)
Thank you so much for all the kind words...!! here's a wedding dress asa for all your troubles
putting the art questions under the cut!
I've addressed a little bit on giving out advice for coloring here, and tbh im surprised you think my colors flow together well because i pick my colors pretty haphazardly LOL but generally speaking, nowadays my usual line of thinking is “how do i express [a certain shade of color] without using that exact shade of color”. Like if im coloring an apple then im thinking about all the colors except red that i can be using.
as for studying art, sometimes id straight up copy and paste other artists’ work into csp myself and re-trace anatomy/ action lines over it, colorpick it etc etc to really get a feel for their techniques. of course, this is all kept to myself privately. sometimes i also draw things specifically with the goal of emulating said techniques, like “for this piece im going to draw clothing folds like how X artist does it” etc
akjdfjksjsjd i hope all that makes sense / is useful! thank u for likin my stuff 🥺
p.s. i can read chinese and your little passage has not moved me in the slightest /lh

WHAT’S MY NAME? not everybody knows how to work my body, knows how to make me want it, but, girl, you stay up on it.
THIS IS PART FIVE! pairing, paige bueckers x tutor!oc. notes, it took me so long to perfect this the way i wanted so enjoy muahahaha. also paige saying she prefers netflix & chill fits so well with this it’s so funny. warnings, sexual content (thhhheeee moment) honestly just filth.
paige laid sprawled across the stiff hotel bed in austin, her back against a pile of pillows she’d thrown together. the only light in the room was from the bedside table lamp to her right, and her phone was propped up in front of her, angled perfectly so that she could take in every detail of liana’s face on the screen. paige knew she should be asleep, or at least pretending to be, considering tomorrow’s game. but she couldn’t help herself.
liana was curled up on her couch, wearing an oversized crewneck that slipped off one shoulder, revealing only a slip of her skin. her curls framed her face just like always, a few stray tendrils catching the light as she shifted slightly under her blanket. paige couldn’t stop staring.
“you look way too tired, bro,” paige teased, her lips curling into a smirk that liana was getting way too used to seeing. “let me find out somebody else been gettin’ you right while i was gone.”
liana’s eyes widened from their previously low state, the blonde’s words sending her into a fit of laughter. “please! you’re the only one keeping me up these days. literally.”
paige nodded eagerly, tilting her head up with a smile as if she was completely satisfied with that response. “good. ‘cause i’d hate to have to come back and handle business.” they’d obviously just been flirting, but there was always some realness behind that. it was more like, ‘let me find out naomi been gettin’ you right while i was gone.’
liana knew paige wasn’t just talking about coming back from austin; she was talking about coming back to her, making sure no one else had taken her place. making sure that talk had really happened.
liana let her head fall back against the couch. “work’s just been killing me,” she admitted, her voice a little bit quieter now. “and of course, i miss you.” liana, if honest, didn’t usually say things like that. not with naomi, not with anyone she’d been with before—at least not so plainly. but with paige, it felt different. it felt necessary. maybe it was because, since the day they met, they’d spent nearly every day together or at least made time to talk, even when things got hectic. it had become part of her routine, part of her day-to-day existence. and if you didn’t know, that’s the quickest, easiest way to get attached to someone, especially when that someone is putting in the exact same amount of effort.
it wasn’t just about the physical attraction, though that was undeniably there. it was the connection, the way they could talk about anything—or nothing at all—and it still felt like they were sharing something important. the little moments, the ones that seemed insignificant, were starting to mean everything. and that’s what made it all so complicated for the both of them.
“i miss you too, liana,” paige said finally, not able to hide the smile that tugged at the corners of her lips as she moved her arm behind her head, adjusting her posture a little. following that, she couldn’t help the extra bit of focus she had on her screen. her eyes scanned down liana’s face, and as she licked her lips slowly, her attention was fully locked in.
liana noticed immediately. the look wasn’t exactly subtle, it never was. it made her pulse quicken, moving her phone out of frame as she rolled her eyes, unable to keep the smile from breaking through. “paige, stop trying to rizz me up over the phone.”
paige’s grin widened, chuckling as she ran a hand down her face. “so it’s working?” she asked.
liana laughed, shaking her head. “yeah, okay. you know exactly what you’re doing.” and she did. paige always knew how to push just the right buttons, how to get under her skin in a way that made her feel seen and wanted. it was part of what made it so hard to ignore. and maybe that was part of the problem, too—because liana knew just how easy it was to get swept up in all of it, to let herself fall into something that felt too good to be true.
and then, just like that, the door to paige’s hotel room swung open, breaking the moment. kk came in first, loud as always, with aaliyah, aubrey, and nika trailing behind her. liana couldn’t help but laugh as kk made her way over to paige’s bed, the blonde’s face immediately scrunching up, clearly annoyed they were interrupted.
“yo, p, you still cupcaking your girl over here?” kk teased, making her way over to paige with zero hesitation. she leaned over her shoulder, her widest smile filling the screen as she greeted liana. “what’s good, lili!?”
liana chuckled, the tiredness from before easing as she straightened up. “hey, kk. y’all treating paige alright?”
kk flashed a grin, leaning against the wall with her arms crossed now. “you should be asking if paige is treating us alright,” she shot back, the blonde instantly moving against the sheets to jerk her head back at kk’s words. but before she could say anything, kk continued her thought. “she gets annoying as hell when she can’t get to her phone to text you back.“
paige immediately rolled her eyes, trying to play it off, smacking her lips. “alright, alright, i didn’t know the feds was in the room,” she muttered, shooting her teammate a glare as she made sure to move kk’s frame from the screen.
aaliyah chimed in, of course. “yeah, she’s been getting real soft on us lately—smiling at her phone and everything.”
ice just shook her head, laughing along with the room. “she’s down bad, liana.”
liana couldn’t help but chuckle herself, the entirety of their words being absolutely hilarious, but also cute. there was something in the way they all talked about paige’s softness, the way she was smiling despite their jokes, that made her stomach twist in a good way. she liked knowing she had this effect on her, that she could make her feel something deeper, something real. it made liana feel a little more sure of what she wanted, of who she wanted.
the exhaustion from the day began catching up with her, and as she yawned, she could feel the weight of it settling into her bones, covering her mouth. paige, ever the noticer, shooed her teammates off, her teasing tone softening as she let her eyes fall over the large frame on her phone.
“imma let you go,” paige said quietly, running a hand down her ponytail. “you needa rest.”
liana nodded, smiling. “yeah. you do, too, though,” she lectured, flipping over to her side. “good luck with your game tomorrow.”
“we’ll talk after, okay?” paige replied, her eyes never leaving her screen. she hesitated for a moment, searching liana’s face for any sign of doubt, any worry that something was off. the doubt still tried to worm its way into paige’s mind, especially with everything unsaid between them. but she didn’t prodde, as much as she wanted to. she trusted liana, trusted what they had, even if there were moments when it all felt a little too fragile. in a few days, when they were finally together again, paige knew she’d let her actions speak louder than her words ever could.
after a busy day being back in storrs—filled with practice sessions and home game prep—paige was finally heading over to liana’s apartment. it seemed like their schedules had aligned perfectly for once, but even so, paige couldn’t shake the nagging wish that she’d been able to spend more of the day with her. the season was always busy, but lately, she found herself getting frustrated with it in a way she hadn’t before. it wasn’t just the games or the practices—it was the fact that she actually had someone she wanted to see, and it made everything less satisfying because it kept them apart. the promise of a quiet night together felt like a much-needed respite. the evening had settled in, and as paige approached liana’s building, she felt almost nervous. she’d actually been invited to sleep over, which they’d never done before. it felt intimately scary.
when she walked into the apartment, she was greeted by the soft sound of running water coming from the bathroom. paige closed the door behind her, locking it out of habit before making her way to the back. liana had insisted she come in without knocking, saying she’d be in the shower when she arrived.
paige wandered into the bedroom, dropping her overnight bag onto the floor as she took a seat on the edge of the bed. her tv played some music, and although paige had been in this room a few times before, it felt strange… different. it’s only because you haven’t seen her, stop it.
she could hear the water shut off in the bathroom, followed by the sound of liana moving around. paige leaned back on her hands, letting her eyes wander around the room, trying to steady her thoughts, but something caught her attention, her mind obviously wanting her to do anything but. it was a small pile of clothes sitting neatly on the bed right next to her. she blinked, realizing that liana had left them there, which meant one thing: she’d have to come out in just her towel.
paige licked her lips, her nerves quickly giving way to a different kind of anticipation. she knew she should probably look away, give her some space, but she couldn’t help but feel like the girl had done it on purpose.
her attention drifted toward the bathroom door just as it creaked open. and there she was—liana, wrapped snugly in a white towel, steam still trailing behind her as she stepped out. her skin glowed, still damp from the shower water, and her hair was still dry, cascading perfectly over her revealed shoulders.
a smirk pulled at paige’s lips, saying the one and only thing that came to mind. “daddy’s home,” she mumbled under her breath, just loud enough for her to hear.
liana rolled her eyes, though the laugh that bubbled up within her betrayed her amusement. “whatever,” she shot back, quickly grabbed the clothes off the bed, clutching them to her chest as she turned, making her way back to the bathroom to change.
paige’s eyes followed her every step, appreciating the way the towel hugged her figure until she disappeared behind the door again. when liana finally emerged, she was dressed in an off-the-shoulder tee and a pair of short shorts that showed off just enough to keep paige’s attention firmly locked on her.
“there,” liana said with a grin as she walked back over to where paige sat, sliding herself into the space between her legs. the closeness was natural, easy, like it had always been this way. “better?”
paige shook her head in a way that was deliberately iffy, still smirking as she admired her. “eh. you sure we’re not married yet? ’cause it’s starting to feel like it.” her hands found their way to liana’s body almost instinctively, fingers resting just below her hips. the touch was subtle, yet possessive in that way paige always seemed to manage without trying too hard.
liana looked down at her, placing her hands on paige’s shoulders. “married, huh? i don’t know, p… feels like you’d have to put in a bit more work for that,” she teased, though her voice softened toward the end. they both knew what they were doing, toeing that line between playful and serious, testing the waters without saying too much.
paige tilted her head up slightly, eyebrows raised. “really? feels like i been working overtime for you,” she shot back.
liana chuckled, her fingers absently playing with the ends of paige’s hair as she looked down at her. “you think so?” she asked, overall rhetorical. “maybe i’ll give you some credit… for effort.”
a few moments later, the two girls had long since found their spots at the top of liana’s bed, limbs tangled up together like they were made to fit this way. the room felt even smaller now, or it could’ve just been the proximity. liana had her head nestled on paige’s chest, her cheek pressed against her heartbeat that was trying to stay at a normal pace.
paige kept one arm draped around her, her other hand resting on liana’s thigh in a way to ground it, keep it in place. because paige was sure if she moved, she wouldn’t be able to contain herself. that same leg was thrown over her longer legs, her body angling into her. the movie played on, but neither of them were really paying much attention.
paige’s eyes drifted down to the girl in her arms, watching the soft rise and fall of her breath, the way her lashes fluttered slightly as if she were lost in thought. she felt liana shift slightly, her breath hitching for just a second before she settled again. paige tightened her grip ever so slightly, as if she could keep her from slipping away. she wasn’t sure if it was for liana’s benefit or her own, but it didn’t matter.
it was liana who broke the silence first.
“paige?” she whispered, her voice slightly shaky.
“yeah?”
liana hesitated. “can you move your hand?”
paige adjusted her posture slightly, letting her hand slide a little further up liana’s thigh, closer to her heat. she was still gentle, her movements innocent from anyone looking from above the covers. she cleared her throat. “‘course. wanna tell me why, though, baby?”
liana turned her head slightly, her eyes meeting paige’s with some soft intensity. they could make out each other’s features through the dark, knowing it like the back of their own hands. “making me feel things,” she murmured, voice almost shy.
paige’s smirk softened into something more genuine as she tilted her head, or maybe more mocking. “that a bad thing?”
she hesitated, eyes darting between paige’s eyes and lips, chin still nestled comfortably on her hand. “no.” her reply was a short, almost whiny breath as she shook her head.
paige felt a sense of satisfaction at liana’s response, that tiny, breathy “no” probably making her feel the same way. she loved this—the way she could reduce liana to these quiet, needy sounds with just a look or a touch. she felt almost addicted to the power she held, the way liana’s eyes darted between her own and her lips, as if she were waiting for permission. but beneath that, there was a softness too that came from knowing that liana trusted her enough to be this vulnerable, to fall victim to her with little shame.
there was no doubt they were inching towards something they couldn’t come back from. it should be savored, or simply not done at all, but only one of those options were actually doable. paige let her hand move just a bit higher up liana’s thigh, right where the girl needed her to be, fingers curling slightly against the fabric. “good,” she murmured. “’cause i don’t think you invited me over here just to sleep.”
liana nodded slightly, smiling. “definitely not just to sleep,” and before paige could say anything else, liana closed the distance between them, kissing her with all the strength and roughness her smaller body could muster up.
paige responded immediately, using one hand to guide liana’s body until she was perched on top of her, straddling her thigh. the weight of her smaller frame settled perfectly against her, and paige let out a low hum, eyebrows furrowing at the feeling of the heat radiating off of her. it was safe to say that they both unshamefully had some pressure built up.
liana’s hands found their way to paige’s shoulders, gripping tightly as she tried to keep up with the intensity. she could feel paige’s muscled thigh pressing into her, and her body was already reacting, hips instinctively grinding down, seeking out more of her if that were even possible. it was all-consuming, the way paige effortlessly took control, guiding her movements, making her feel everything all at once. like she knew she had to.
paige slipped her tongue past liana’s lips, exploring her mouth as her hands did their part on her lower body. hands roaming underneath her shirt, fingers digging into her soft skin as she pulled her even closer. paige’s heart raced, her thoughts hazy with the overwhelming urge to make liana just forget about everything else. about naomi, about any doubts or second thoughts. it was just them now, and she was determined to make sure liana knew exactly where she belonged.
every little sound she made drove paige deeper into wanting her. she loved the way liana’s fingers dug into her shoulders, the way her hips moved so instinctively. it was the kind of control that went beyond just physical—she could feel it in the way she was giving herself over. her fingers slipped into the waistband of her shorts, moving them right over her clit, not being interested in making her girl wait. with thought-out slowness, she began to rub at her heat, feeling the dampness that had already soaked through thanks to her lack of underwear.
“fuck, liana.” her mutter against her jawline almost went unnoticed, her voice low as she placed soft, messy kisses along her skin. “so wet. knew you needed me, huh? could feel it the second you started grinding this pussy on me.”
liana’s eyes screwed shut at paige’s words, her entire body shivering as she pressed herself harder against her fingers. the slickness between her thighs only intensified, her need growing with every passing second. she could barely form coherent thoughts, let alone words, but she managed to let out a shaky, “y-yeah… needed you… so bad…”
paige grinned against her skin, her lips trailing down liana’s neck, ghosting over the spot from their night in the car that had started to fade with time. she made sure to leave a new one, sucking at it relentlessly for a few moments. liana bit her lip, trying to stifle the whimpers that kept slipping out, but it was useless. paige knew exactly how to unravel her.
liana’s moans grew louder, her hips bucking uncontrollably as paige’s fingers moved faster, in circles, up and down… the pressure building inside her. it was overwhelming, the pleasure throbbing through her in waves, and she knew she wouldn’t be able to hold on much longer. “p-paige… i’m—fuck!“ she said, clearly frustrated she could hardly get her words out.
paige watched liana lose control underneath her with her bottom lip tucked between her teeth, quickly throwing the thick blanket off of them so she had more room to move. “go ahead. lemme hear you.” her heart pounded in her chest, her own restraint hanging by a thread as she focused on driving liana over the edge. none of their other encounters had ever felt like this, this personal and damn good.
paige’s words hit liana like a command she couldn’t disobey. her entire body responded, trembling as the tension that had been building inside of her finally snapped. she cried out, following the blonde’s commands word for word as every muscle in her body tightened, then released in a rush, leaving her breathless and spent.
paige kept her eyes locked onto liana’s face as she watched every moment of her unraveling, licking her lips and leaving them glistening. she was lost, so completely undone by her hands alone. “that’s it, baby,” she murmured, her voice bringing liana back to reality, opening her eyes as paige slowed her movements, drawing out liana’s climax. “so fuckin’ perfect.”
liana’s breathing began to steady, though her legs still trembled slightly in the aftermath. paige, all in her lust, leaned down, pressing a kiss to her lips. then another one, and another one… all while helping her off her leg and settle back into the pillows, smoothing the damp curls away from her forehead, her thumb brushing softly along her flushed cheeks. she just wanted to take care of her in every way.
for a second, paige thought about stopping there. that shared vulnerability was already enough, right? the way liana had lost herself, gotten comfortable real quickly—it felt almost sacred. they could have left it at that, and it would have been more than enough. but when paige looked into liana’s eyes—saw the way her chest still heaved with shallow breaths, the softness of her expression, the way her lips were parted in that unguarded, needy way—she knew they weren’t done.
liana looked like she wanted more. hell, paige knew she wanted more too.
she leaned in, capturing liana’s lips again, this time with more intent, more need, the kiss deepening as her fingers ghosted down her side. she loved the way her body responded underneath her, arching ever so slightly into her touch, like she was asking for it without saying a word.
paige pulled back just enough to murmur against her lips, “you good?”
liana’s eyes fluttered open, lips still plump, but there was a small, almost shy nod. “yeah… i’m good. i’m really good.”
paige smirked at that, kissing her again just to feel liana melt a little more before slowly hooking a finger into the waistband of her shorts, pulling them down and letting them drop off the side of the bed. she couldn’t help but smile at the sight of liana spread out beneath her, chest rising and falling as she watched her with those wide, expectant eyes. without breaking eye contact, paige grabbed the hem of her own shirt, tugging it off in one quick motion, leaving herself in just her sports bra. her shorts followed, discarded just as easily as liana’s.
leaning over the side of the bed, the blonde pulled her overnight bag up, rummaging through it for a second before pulling out the strap she’d packed. liana’s eyes widened a little, watching as she slid the harness on, adjusting it snugly around her hips. her focus was on the way paige moved—so sure of herself, so in control. but underneath that control, the girl was just as nervous, the receiving end of the strap pressing against her, giving her just enough to heighten every movement she made.
paige climbed back onto the bed, hovering over liana as she pressed a few kisses along her collarbone, down her chest. liana’s breath got caught in her throat when paige’s lips brushed just above her stomach, her hands instinctively finding their way to her sides, fingers digging into her skin as she waited for what was next. paige settled between her legs, hands firm on her thighs as she focused on stretching her out to get her ready.
“paige,” liana whispered, trying to find herself before they got around to that. “i’ve never…” her voice came out practically breathless, and it took a second for paige to process the words, but as they sank in, she stilled, looking up from where her fingers had been previously getting to work. her mind instantly went back to the conversation they’d had in the bar, the first time liana had really opened up. that night when she’d admitted she’d never been with any guys. she’d said it so casually at the time, and it didn’t matter then.
it mattered now.
she pushed herself up slightly, hands resting gently on liana’s hips. “it’s alright,” paige said softly. “we ain’t gotta do nothing y’aren’t ready for.” she didn’t rush or push, even though every nerve in her body screamed at her to keep going. liana’s comfort mattered more than anything else.
liana’s eyes were as wide as they always were, still dark with uncertainty as she contemplated something within herself. paige kept her gaze steady, her thumb brushing soothing circles against liana’s skin, doing everything to show her that this was her call. no pressure. no expectations.
she swallowed hard, her chest rising and falling as she looked at paige, the connection between them pulling tighter.
“i want it to be with you.”
those words, where she felt so sure, slammed into paige like a million bricks. it was everything and more than she’d expected, and yet, hearing it made her chest tighten. nobody had liana feeling like this but her. she let out a breath she didn’t know she’d been holding, nodding slow. “okay,” paige said, her voice low. “just gotta know, li… you sure?” her tone was gentler than usual, but still distinctly her with that bit of edge that was all paige. she tilted her head, eyes never leaving the girl in front of her’s every expression.
“yeah… i’m sure,” liana whispered back, her lips barely moving as she adjusted her spot on the bed, and it was clear she wasn’t just saying it to say it. she meant it.
and with that, paige nodded, her heart pounding in her chest as liana’s first time was now left in her hands. she pulled back to focus, hands finding their way between her legs, fingertips grazing her wetness just like she’d done before. her movements were slow, deliberate, taking her time as she positioned herself, letting the tip of the strap brush against her heat.
she didn’t say anything, and she didn’t have to. she guided the tip along her folds, moving it slowly in gentle circles. liana’s hips bucked involuntarily, eyes squeezing shut as the sensation built. without another word, paige angled herself and slowly pushed inside, her movements careful and measured as she watched liana’s expression shift—first a slight wince, then her lips parting in a quiet gasp as she adjusted.
paige’s movements were thoughtful before they picked up, each thrust slow as she sought to make the experience as comfortable and intense for liana as possible. her blue eyes never left her face, as if tracking her down. the first subtle wince, the way her lips parted in a breathless gasp as paige pressed deeper another inch of her length.
liana’s hips bucked gently as she adjusted to the fullness. paige’s hands were steady, veiny, and using their grip firmly against her hips, sure to leave some kinda of mark. as liana’s breathing grew more ragged, paige guided her hand to her lower stomach, pressing it down so the girl could feel the bulge of the strap moving inside her. “feel that, baby?” her voice was low and throaty, yet expectant of an answer. “feel how deep t’shit’s in you?”
liana’s eyes mouth fell agape, her frame rocking up and down against the bed. her hand trembled slightly as it rested on her stomach, and the sensation was overwhelmingly good. she’d expected her first time to feel like a lot of things, this not being one of them. paige made sure to take care of her. she nodded, her voice a breathy whisper as she responded, “yeah… i can feel it… oh!”
paige’s grip tightened just a fraction, head falling over as she took in the sight herself, blonde hair creating a tent around her face. she let out a soft, appreciative groan, eyes locked on liana’s face as she took in the intimate scene.
as the intensity built, paige’s breathing became uneven, her hands still guiding liana through it, ensuring that every moment was as fulfilling as it could be. “doing so well,” paige murmured, as she watched liana become more lost in the moment.
her thrusts became more urgent, less controlled, and more sloppy. she could feel her own climax creeping closer—too close. she gritted her teeth, unwilling to let it take her first, not before she could feel liana fully surrender to it. with a low groan, paige pulled back, the sound of their heavy breathing filling the room as she steadied herself.
in one smooth motion, she shifted, pulling liana on top of her. “c’mere,” paige directed, positioning her so she straddled her waist. liana’s eyes fluttered open, dazed and already fucked-out, the slickness between her thighs coating paige’s strap as she lowered herself down, immediately gasping at the depth of the new angle.
paige’s hands found their spot just under her ass, fingers gripping firmly but leaving enough space for her to move as she pleased. “take it at your pace,” paige whispered, though her voice was thick with the kind of strain that said she was barely hanging on herself. watching liana ride her like this, hair tumbling down around her face, wasn’t doing anything to help her keep her composure. her hips rolled in the same motion over and over, riding like a fucking pro. no way she hadn’t done this before… or maybe the ‘things come easily to me’ gene ran further than just in the books.
liana bit her lip, her breath coming out in short, soft gasps as she rocked her hips harder, feeling every inch inside her. she leaned forward, pressing her chest against paige’s, entire body trembling as she whispered, “feels so good, p…” although it was more a whine.
“i know it does, li,” paige responded, her own voice starting to fray around the edges, overwhelmed by the sight and feel of liana on top of her, and now her broken voice saying all the right things in her ear, chests bonded together by the sweat. if this was what skin to skin was like, the blonde wanted to take her in like that forever. “takin’ me so good. you gonna come?” her hands slid up to her hips, tightening slightly and pulling her just a little closer.
liana’s body trembled, lips parted as she gasped for breath, barely able to nod. “yeah… oh my God… i’m so close…”
“yeah?” her response was breathless, almost there herself as she jerked her hips up to help, wanting liana to feel her deeper as she let her own hands drop, letting her get off by herself. “just let go. i got you.”
liana’s pace quickened, her moans becoming louder and more desperate as her body tensed. her head fell forward, hair falling over her face, and paige could hear the exact moment when she lost herself to the sensation. the heat between them exploded, and with one last thrust from paige, they both came undone at the same time, the release hitting like the best thing all night.
for a moment, everything was quiet except for their heavy breathing, the sound of their chests rising and falling in unison. paige could barely think, let alone speak, as she wrapped her arms around liana, pulling her close as they both came down from the high. the only light in the room came from the mounted tv, now playing random netflix previews, but it was the least of their worries.
paige was the first to break the silence. well, kind-of. it was a breathless laugh, her normal shit-eating smile returning to her face.
liana sat up from paige’s chest, her eyebrows furrowing in mock annoyance, though the corner of her lips quirked up against her will. “don’t look so smug.”
paige’s grin widened, hands still mindlessly rubbing her back slowly. “i’m liana bales’ first body.” her voice was filled with some playful arrogance, and she was clearly just poking fun, but she had only really come to terms with it now.
liana rolled her eyes, but her own smile broke through, and she shook her head. “don’t make it a thing.”
“oh, it’s a thing.”

42. “Feels good,doesn’t it?”
𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐝𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐲 | lh⁴³
♡ ─ word count | 822
♡ ─ warnings | NSFW under the cut!! good ol' lazy spooning morning sex, p in v, nothing else?
♡ ─ ev's notes | again, LUKE HUGHES DEF WHIMPERS
Your eyes fluttered open, a yawn escaping your mouth as you stretched out your arms. Glancing at the bedside clock, you saw that it was 9:49 am. Waking up this early on a Sunday felt like a crime, but the distant sound of the TV in Jack's room suggested he was already up.
Sensing movement beside you, you realized that Luke had also woken up. A lazy smile adorned your face as Luke turned towards you, his eyes adjusting to the morning light. A gentle smile tugging at the corners of his lips as his messy hair fell across his forehead making your stomach do a little flip. He always looked so cute in the morning.
"Morning," Luke murmured, his voice still husky with sleep, as he reached out to brush a stray strand of hair from your face. His touch was warm against your skin, sending a shiver down your spine. "Why is Jack up this early?"
You shook your head as you sighed. "Not sure but I don't think I can go back to bed with all the noise."
"Yeah, me neither." Luke's lips curved into a smirk as he watched you, his hands moving downward to settle on your waist. "Maybe we should do something else, then?"
A soft laugh escaped your mouth as Luke spoke, shaking your head at disbelief. His hands moved down to your hips and squeezed roughly, the smirk still evident on his face.
"Luke..." You sighed, "Don't you think Jack will hear something?"
"Only if you're not quiet," Luke shot back, his fingers drawing circles on your hips as he watched you. "Please, baby?"
You rolled your eyes in annoyance but you couldn't say you didn't want to, either. This past week, you and Luke hadn't done anything because Jack was somehow always in the way. You would be lying if you didn't miss how Luke made you feel, how full he always made you feel.
"Fine." You huffed, making Luke let out a relieved sigh. You turned your body so that Luke would be spooning you and he immediately pushed his hard-on against you, a shiver going down your spine; he was not joking, he was rock hard.
Luke's hands were settled on your hips before one of his hands went down to your underwear, teasing you through your underwear. You let out a frustrated sigh, "Luke, please."
If this was any other time, Luke would've teased you endlessly. But right now, he wanted to fuck just as (if not more) than you. "Okay, okay baby." He pulled down your pajama shorts effortlessly, rubbing his clothed cock against your ass. You heard his breathing quicken behind you, making your whole body warm up.
Luke pulled out his cock and pushed your underwear to the side quickly, lining up his tip to your entrance. He pushed in and the both of you let out relieved sighs, relishing in the feeling of each other. "Fuck, I missed this. You take me so well, baby."
You let out a whimper in response as Luke bottomed you completely, holding your hips against his. You felt so full and so good, you loved how he made you feel -- it was like you two were made for each other. Luke let you adjust before he began slowly thrusting in and out you, creating sounds that echoed throughout the room.
"Feels good, huh, baby?" Luke grunted in between thrusts as you nodded, your mouth hanging out. "Gotta be quiet, princess."
He knew you couldn't no matter how hard you tried, which made his ego skyrocket. One of his hands clasped against your mouth, effectively quieting you down. "Take me so good, baby."
Luke's other hand went up to lift your leg so he could fuck you deeper, making you let out a muffled moan. Luke let out a few more groans of his own and he hoped that Jack was too engulfed in whatever show he was watching to hear. His hips snapped against your ass quicker, both of you chasing after your highs.
"Shit, so close baby." Luke felt your cunt clench around him, making his whole body twitch. "So close, baby." He moved his face to the crook of your neck as he felt himself edge closer to release.
He felt you tighten around him before cumming around him, causing him to let out a grunt. A few more deep thrusts and he was cumming inside you, both of you sweaty and sticky messes. Luke let go of your leg but he didn't pull out, he instead pulled you closer against his chest.
After you both catched your breaths, Luke let out a chuckle. "I really hope Jack didn't hear anything."
"Oh yeah, and who's the one who 'should be quieter'" You teased as he shook his head playfully.
"It's not my fault you have a million dollar pussy." Luke shrugged, earning a playful glare from you.

“Y/N, YOU OKAY?” HEESEUNG ASKS, MAKING YOU LOOK UP FROM YOUR HALF-EATEN BOWL OF A CONCOCTION OF RICE, SOUP, KIMCHI, BEAN SPROUTS AND SEAWEED. He sips on his tea, eyes trained sharply on you.
“Yeah, I am,” you reply, feeling a little guilty. You weren’t entirely lying, but it’d be such a fabrication if you told yourself you weren’t feeling down at all. “Why?”
“Did you sleep late? Or did you get dumped?”
“Oppa!” you exclaim, “when did I ever get a boyfriend?”
“Oh yeah, I forgot that you’re always sticking around with Sunghoon. People think you’re his girlfriend, so no one’s asking you out,” Heeseung snorts.
Your eyes slightly widen. “Wait—people actually think like that?”
“Yeah, of course,” Heeseung replies, rolling his eyes. He swallows his bite before continuing, “everyone thinks you’re Sunghoon’s, you know?”
“People think so?”
“Girl, the two of you act like a literal couple. You hold hands, kiss cheeks and call each other nicknames like it’s nothing. I mean, those who know you guys are friends know that it’s platonic, but–”
“Then, why isn’t he doing anything about it?” you snap, crossing your arms. Your sudden outburst shocks everyone in the room—even Heeseung stops eating.
“Y/N-ie, you alright, sweetie?” your mom asks from the kitchen.
“I’ll be fine,” you reply. “Hee oppa’s bothering me!”
“What are you saying, idiot?” Heeseung hisses. “I’m not bothering you, just tell me whatever is bugging you!”
“I’m upset,” you declare truthfully. “I want to go to hoco with Sunghoon. But he’s not asking me or anything,” you whine, dragging out each word in a dramatically exaggerated manner.
Heeseung snorts, “if you want to go with him, just tell him? It’s not that hard.”
“It is hard! Oppa, imagine telling your childhood best friend: ‘oh, I like you. Can we go to homecoming together?’. That kind of thing completely ruins a friendship! Imagine if he doesn’t like you back? How would you feel?”
Heeseung leans back into his seat, smirking smugly. “I don’t have any girl best friends, so I wouldn’t know.”
“YAH!” you yell, smacking your brother’s head with your spoon. He laughs, clutching his stomach as you sit back down, pouting. “I’m upset and all you’re doing is laugh at my face.”
“Hey, I’m just joking around,” Heeseung reassured, “I get how you feel—even though I kinda don’t.”
Your brother laughs as you huff.
“I think you should go and confront him about it,” Heeseung suggests, going back to devouring his breakfast. “I’m honestly surprised you told me that so straightforwardly, but I guess that’s the result of me sacrificing my ego to get close to you when we were kids.”
You kick his leg under the table, annoyed by the way he’s laughing as you do so. “Shut up. Don’t make me regret having you as my brother.”
˚ ▒ ₊ㅤ Ⳋ᧙ ⁺
“SEE YOU AFTER SCHOOL, Y/N-IE,” HEESEUNG SAYS AS YOU EXIT THE CAR. He waves to you before driving off. You then make your way towards the entrance gate, only to be greeted by an obviously excited and jumpy Danielle.
“Y/N!” Danielle waves, all smiles. “Come on!”
You jog up to her, who’s standing at your school gate. “Hi. What’s up?”
“Nothing,” she replies, but you know her a little too well to accept that as an answer.
“Oh, you think I’m stupid, don’t you?” you elbow her, “you’re a bit too smiley at quarter past seven. Something’s definitely up.”
Danielle giggles, “I’m sorry, I forgot you’ve been my friend since middle school. Now I kind of resent myself for picking Decelis Academy as my study abroad option in 8th grade.”
You hit her shoulder, laughing in synchronisation. “Anyway, Dani, tell me what’s going on. Is Heeseung coming to pick you up after school today or what?”
“Nah, I am,” Jake’s voice coming from your left startles you, making you lose your balance. Yet, Jake is quick to grab your arm, stabilising you.
You turn towards the source of the voice, expecting him to be standing at a reasonable distance beside you. But, oh boy, the goosebumps you get from seeing his face merely inches away from yours…
“Oh?”
Jake smiles. “I’m sorry for startling you,” he says, letting go of your arm gently. “What were we talking about again?”
“Yah, Jaeyun,” Danielle interrupts, smacking her twin brother’s head. “Don’t go around and scare people by whispering right in their ear. It’s creepy, you know?”
Jake laughs sheepishly. “Yeah, yeah. I’m sorry, Y/N.”
“Anyway, you’re picking Dani up today? What does that mean?” you ask. “Don’t you guys, like, cycle home everyday? Together?”
“Yeah, we do,” Danielle replies, “but today he’s bringing me and you dress-shopping.”
“Me?” you gasp.
“Yep,” Jake nods. “I-I mean, I suggested it to her. You know, since… um, my sister’s going to hoco with your brother, a-and she wants to go dress-shopping… I thought it’d be fitting to bring you too.”
“You can help me pick,” Danielle adds, smiling.
“Sure,” you agree after some thought. After all, going shopping with Danielle is something you enjoy doing, and there’s nothing wrong with her twin brother accompanying the two of you.
Except… that the said twin brother is most likely, according to the current situation, your hoco date.
˚ ▒ ₊ㅤ Ⳋ᧙ ⁺
WALKING OUT OF THE CHEMISTRY LAB, YOU DRAG YOUR FEET TOWARDS THE CAFETERIA. There have been several periods and classes with Sunghoon, yet there hadn’t been any indication that he’d be asking you to go to homecoming with him.
“So,” Danielle begins, as soon as you set down your tray. She waits for you to sit down before uttering, “are you going to homecoming?”
“I think so,” you say, shrugging. “I mean, I thought about it, and it’s my senior year. I should go to homecoming.”
Naeun and Danielle shriek happily.
“Oh my God! My wish came true!” Danielle clasped her hands together.
“We can finally take a trio polaroid together. Complete. As one,” Naeun says.
“Gosh, stop over–”
“What wish?” you get interrupted, once again, by the one and only: Park Sunghoon. He nods to acknowledge Danielle and Naeun in front of you, before sitting down next to you.
“Nothing,” you immediately reply. You shift awkwardly in your seat, uncomfortable by the way your cheeks are warming up.
How on earth did you actually survive being Sunghoon’s best friend for more than 10 years whilst having a crush on him?
Maybe having a crush on him for 5 years has taught you the skill of burying your feelings whenever he was around.
“I’ve known you for 13 years,” Sunghoon says. His left cheek bulges as he chews on his mouthful of cold noodles. “And if I learned a thing or two, it is to never trust you when you say ‘nothing’.”
“Exactly!” Naeun exclaims. “Sunghoon, you tell her to stop using the same excuse every time, it’s so obvious when she’s lying.”
“Oh, shut up, Nae.”
Sunghoon rips open the package of his chocolate bar and breaks it in half. “Here,” he places it on your tray. “You like cookies and cream.”
You bit your lip in hopes to suppress a smile. “Thanks,” you say coolly, taking a bite out of it.
“Anyway,” Naeun grins, a glint of mischief in her eyes. You glare at her, already dreading what’s to come. “Got anyone to go to homecoming with, Park Sunghoon?”
Sunghoon leans back in his chair, stealing a glance at you. “No. I don’t want to go.”
You almost spit out the contents of your mouth at his blunt statement. “What? Why?”
Sunghoon shrugs. “I’ve got no one to go with?”
“Well, you can go with me if you want to,” you murmur, afraid to raise your voice.
“What?” Sunghoon tilts his head, eyes staring into yours. “What’d you say?”
“Nothing!” you quickly say, crossing your arms in front of your chest. “I-I’m going though.”
It’s now Sunghoon’s turn to be confused. “Huh? I thought you weren’t going.”
“Yeah! I-I wasn’t going to… but Jaeyun asked me… to go with him,” you utter each word with complete caution, eyes going back and forth between Danielle and Sunghoon. “And I’m… going with him.”
Danielle gasps, and at the same time, you couldn’t shrug off the pang in your heart when you witness Sunghoon’s expression morph into something you’ve quite never seen on him before.
Was it jealousy?
“Double date!” Danielle gushes, her eyes crinkling with laughter. “God, I’m so happy! I can finally go to homecoming with my best friend!”
“...have you told him?” Sunghoon asks, somehow struggling to force the words out of his mouth.
“Who?” you reply.
“Jake.”
You purse your lips, then shake your head. “Nope. I’ll tell him after school, though.”
Sunghoon nods, his gaze lingering on you a moment longer than it usually does. Then, he turns to his lunch and finishes it in silence, ignoring the conversation buzzing around him.
˚ ▒ ₊ㅤ Ⳋ᧙ ⁺
“LET’S GO?” JAKE TAPS YOUR SHOULDER, SMILING WIDELY AS ALWAYS. You sometimes question in your head, does he ever get tired of smiling?
“Mhm, okay!” you reply, quickly packing up your bag. “Wait for me at Danielle’s class.”
“Alright. I’ll see you there.” Jake nods, and struts out, which leaves you and Sunghoon together.
“Where are you going?” Sunghoon asks, his tone careful and slow. He looks at you, and there’s something in his gaze that you can’t pinpoint.
You swing your bag over your shoulder. “I’m… going dress-shopping.”
“With Jake?” he asks.
You nod slowly.
“Y-yeah. And Danielle.”
“Have you told him you’re going to hoco with him?”
You sigh. “No, I haven’t. I’m a bit embarrassed to… tell him.”
Silence floods the two of you. Though, this time, the silence was overwhelmingly uncomfortable. There was some kind of tension that hung between you and Sunghoon, and you know precisely what caused it.
“Hmm,” is all you get from your best friend after a few moments of awkwardness, that involves you standing straight near your desk, unable to move as you await his response.
“Do you like him?” Sunghoon asks, standing up from his chair. His height towers above you, and you gulp in nervousness.
“No?” you say, “I don’t. No, I-I do, but I like him as a friend.”
“Like how you like me?”
Your eyes widen as if a nuclear bomb was dropped in front of your face.
“L-like?”
Sunghoon chuckles, ruffling your hair. “I’m joking, Rainbow Dash.”
Memories flood your vision upon hearing the childhood nickname; vivid like it happened yesterday.
You clearly remember your six-year-old self, sitting on the floor of your house’s play area with a seven-year-old Sunghoon. The two of you had a whole world made out of toys set up—Sunghoon built several buildings and skyscrapers using wooden blocks he brought from his place, along with a few Hot Wheels and action figures; while you had a whole army of My Little Pony figurines out, along with a full-fledged set up of a tea house. You remember roleplaying with Sunghoon, giggling and fighting with each other’s creative imaginations.
“You? As Rainbow Dash?” Sunghoon grimaced, laughing loudly. “You’re too girly, Y/N.”
“No I’m not!” you yelled. “I’m as fast and cool as Rainbow Dash!”
“Fast? You never win against me in any races. You’re more like Fluttershy to me,” Sunghoon declared, a proud smirk displayed across his face. “Softie.”
“No I’m not!” you insisted on a small panicky tone.
And the two of you fought, for the next 30 minutes, on whether you suited Rainbow Dash or not.
“Gosh,” you whisper shakily, “I haven’t heard that nickname in a while.”
Sunghoon smiles—and it’s as if, in this entire universe, it’s only you and him. It’s an unexplainable feeling; one could probably try and portray it as if time had stopped, and everything else around you froze—and he’s the only one for you.
“Hmm? I thought I’d call you Rainbow Dash instead of Fluttershy,” he jokes, “since, you know, you like Rainbow Dash more than Fluttershy.”
“Hey!” you exclaim, “it’s been so long! Don’t remind me of that!”
Sunghoon lets out a train of laughter—and it rushes through you like a refreshing breeze, reminding you of your never ending feelings for him, and how his laughter is one of the things you’d never get tired of hearing.
“Come on then,” he urges you to walk out of the class. “We have a dress to find.”
You follow his lead, your brows knitting with each other. “Huh?”
Sunghoon looks back at you for a second, smiling while he’s at it.
“I’m coming with you to buy your hoco dress. I mean, I’m sure your mother wouldn’t get mad at you if you’re going out with me,” he says, as your legs freeze, unable to move. You’re dazed at Sunghoon’s presence. Everytime he smiles at you, you’re smitten—and it’s as if your body is in love too—it freezes, always.
“I’ll pick your dress for you if you don’t come! I’ll pick the most horrible one!” Sunghoon yells playfully from the corridor, causing you to jolt awake from your trance. “And I’ll tell Mrs. Lee, you’re going out without asking her first!”
“YAH!” you scream, swiftly dodging tables and running out of the classroom to catch up with Sunghoon. “Wait for me, Park Sunghoon!”
˚ ▒ ₊ㅤ Ⳋ᧙ ⁺
“HERE,” JAKE HANDS YOU A CUP OF MANGO YAKULT BOBA, ACCOMPANIED WITH A SMILE THAT YOU WISH YOU DIDN’T NOTICE WAS A LITTLE BITTER. It must’ve been because Sunghoon’s here, standing beside you, you recall Danielle whispering to you a while ago.
“What?” you ask him.
“Take it,” he insists. “It’s on me, so don’t worry.”
You nod thankfully before poking the straw into the cover of the drink to take a sip. Though, before your lips could even touch the tip of the straw, Sunghoon gets himself a big sip of your drink. Bewildered and stunned, all you could do is watch and let your lips form a twitchy smile as Sunghoon perks up from an angle slightly lower than your eye level.
You gulp, suddenly nervous at the close proximity.
“This is good stuff,” he says with a grin.
Your eyes shift quickly between Jake, who’s standing right in front of you, shock painted all over his facial expressions; and Sunghoon, who’s standing to your right, grinning like he’s just scored the winning goal for the inter school hockey competition.
“Hoon!” you smack his arm, “this is my drink—you didn’t even ask!”
Sunghoon keeps his grin on. “I mean, you wouldn’t even finish it,” he shrugs. “Plus, you prefer strawberry flavoured things over mango, right?”
You watch with guilt as Jake’s facial expressions morph into a shameful expression. He lets out an “oh”, and he looks away.
“It’s okay, Jaeyun,” you say, offering him a smile, which makes him rebuild eye contact. “It’s not that I don’t like mango. I do! Just that I prefer strawberries.”
Jake nods attentively. “Ah, okay.”
“Okay, guys! Enough of this awkwardness,” Danielle says out loud, looping her arm with yours. “We’ve only got a few hours to shop for Y/N and I’s dresses, so get your asses up and moving, boys.”
The four of you then walk through the mall, window shopping to find your dresses. Danielle, of course, is the most excited. She practically drags you and Jake around, Sunghoon tagging along.
You naturally enjoy the experience of shopping with your girlfriend. It’s certainly a refresher—sipping on your boba drink as you browse through a wide selection of eye-catching clothing. Though, every time you look to steal a glance at Sunghoon, there’s this off-putting feeling that you can’t quite name—and the reason as to why is evident, displayed right in front of your eyes.
Every time you make eye contact with Sunghoon, you notice a challenging aura blazing through. It’s as if he’s purposely making it hard for Jake; as if to dare him to prove that he’ll be a good date to you.
Honestly, you think to yourself, it’s just one night. It’s not like I’m dating Jake for real.
And you wonder too, why Sunghoon is making such a big deal out of it.
˚ ▒ ₊ㅤ Ⳋ᧙ ⁺
“HEESEUNG’S GOING TO BAWL HIS EYES OUT WHEN HE SEES YOU IN THIS DRESS,” YOU SAY WITH A SPARKLE OF MELODRAMA. Jake chuckles, while Sunghoon simply nods.
You marvel at how beautiful Danielle is—her beauty is enhanced with the purple dress she’s wearing. It’s exactly her vibe—a lilac baby doll dress with ruffles and puffed sleeves—soft and dainty.
“Buy this one,” Jake says.
“Okay!” Danielle happily nods. “What about you, Y/N?”
You’ve tried on several types of dresses in many different colours—jade, champagne red, and light pink. Though, none of them thoroughly suited your taste.
“Jaeyun,” you say, causing the boy to perk up and look at you with slightly widened eyes—not expecting his name to be called. “What do you think?”
“M-me?”
You smile and nod, ignoring Sunghoon’s piercing gaze. “Yeah, you.”
“I-I mean, I don’t know,” Jake stammers, “why are you buying a dress though? I thought you weren’t going to hoco.”
“Well…”
“You stupid idiot, she’s going with you!” you hear Danielle shout from inside the changing room.
You don’t know why, but some feelings of delight wash through you as you watch Jake’s lips form a wide smile. He laughs, awkward and strained at first, but gradually, he gets up and pulls you into a hug.
“Thank you,” he murmurs breathlessly into your shoulder as you pat his back. “Thank you, Y/N.”
Jake pulls away from the hug, and for the first time, you see tears form at the edges of the basketball prodigy.
And, for the first time too, you see Sunghoon looking away from you.
˚ ▒ ₊ㅤ Ⳋ᧙ ⁺
“DANI!” YOU WHISPER-YELL, TRYING TO KEEP YOUR VOICE DOWN AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. You and Danielle are in the changing room, the latter helping you to put on dresses. Out of all the dresses you tried—the light blue ball gown dress, the lavender mini dress with bow details, and many other bodycon and babydoll dresses—none caught your eye.
Except for one.
A simple midnight blue babydoll dress, adorned with pearl details and thin straps; one that Sunghoon picked out. At first, you weren’t sure if it’d suit you, but after trying it on, you were baffled by how you look. The dress fits you perfectly, highlighting exactly where it needs to be.
“Are you sure this is okay?” you ask, pulling your hair out of your dress.
Danielle nods, an adoring look on her face. “Girl, everyone will be smitten.”
Of course, you didn’t believe her at first—but the look on Sunghoon and Jake’s faces made you second guess yourself.
Sunghoon’s eyes stop blinking, and his lips part slightly. Something feels stuck in his throat, and everything dawns on him.
You look absolutely magical.
He can’t pull his eyes away, no matter how hard he tries. You are his best friend, the person he feels most comfortable with. And now, it hits him like a truck.
You’re breathtaking.
To his left, Jake is completely blown away by your beauty. The edges of his mouth twitch, indecisive as to whether he should smile or not. His pupils widen as he takes in the view of you, realising that you really are more prettier than he thought you were.
“So,” you finally say, pretending to not notice the two guys’ gazes on you. You smile at Jake, not forgetting to spare Sunghoon a glance. “How’s this?”
“I-I mean,” Jake says, smiling, “it’s perfect.”

Dear Sunghoon,
Thank you for picking out the dress for me. I think I like it a lot. Obviously because it’s not what you picked out but anyway! I’m nervous. Not because I like Jaeyun or anything. It’s just the general homecoming thing. You know, the surroundings and the partying… I hope I can handle it.
I’ve got nothing against Jaeyun, but I do still wish you’re my date instead.
Why didn’t you ask me to be your homecoming date, Hoon? Did you know how desperately I have been waiting? Did you know how guilty I felt to be brushing off Jaeyun every single time he asked me to go to hoco with him?
Look at me now. I’m his date for Friday.
Hoon, I wish I had the courage to tell you. I wish I was brave enough to tell you that I like you, and that I don’t care if it ruins our lifelong friendship. I wish I was fearless enough to ask you to homecoming.
I wish I was better. I don’t know if I’m good enough for you, but if you ever need a girlfriend, or a wife one day… I’m here. Always.

Sunghoon,
It’s homecoming.
Jaeyun’s going to come and pick me up soon—in like half an hour. I got the girls over, to help with makeup and all. I feel gorgeous, Hoon, but I wonder if you think so too.
I wish the person who’d come and pick me up to go to homecoming today was you. I really want to see you in a suit—oh God, I know just how good you’ll look.
Honestly, even in a hoodie and sweatpants, you look stunning.
Sent 17:35 PM, 6th September.
“Y/N! Sweetie, Jake’s here!” you hear your mom call from downstairs.
“Coming!” you shout back, shoving a lipgloss and a pack of tissues into your purse before rushing downstairs.
His eyes sparkle as they gaze on you, and he looks as if he’s never seen someone as beautiful as you. He stands respectfully by the stairway, giving you a polite smile.
“Hi,” you greet Jake, leaning into his side hug. Jake is smartly fitted into a neat suit with tie, and a corsage is tucked perfectly into the pocket of his chest. He hands you a matching one.
“Do… you want to wear this?”
You make eye contact with Heeseung, who’s standing by the door with Danielle. He nods, and you turn to Jake. “Sure.”
He fastens the corsage around your wrist, his touch gentle and careful. “Is it okay? If i-it’s too tight or anything,” Jake says, “tell me.”
You pat his shoulder. “It’s fine, I’m good. Thank you, Jaeyun.”
Heeseung drives all of you to the conference hall of Decelis Academy, where the homecoming will be held. Upon arrival, Jake opens the door of the car and helps you out.
Feeling slightly overwhelmed hearing the faint music coming from inside the hall, you turn to Jake. “So,” you say, slowing down your walking pace. “What do we usually do at hoco?”
“Hmm, there’s a concert by our school band—you know Jay? He used to be in Heeseung’s grade, he was the lead guitarist,” Jake explains. “His girlfriend, Han Jihyeon, is still the main singer. They’re sickeningly cute, in my opinion.”
You chuckle and nod along, recalling several moments where you’ve seen the couple interact with each other before.
“There’s also plenty of games,” continues Jake. The two of you walk together into the hall, and as you reach the door, he opens it for you. “Oh, and you don’t have to dance if you don’t want to, you know.”
You nod, bracing yourself for a chaotic night.
˚ ▒ ₊ㅤ Ⳋ᧙ ⁺
AFTER TAKING PICTURES WITH JAKE, DANIELLE, NAEUN, AND HEESEUNG, YOU FIND YOURSELF RETREATING TO THE REFRESHMENTS SECTION OF THE CONFERENCE HALL. Jake left to play games and dance with his friends, as well as reconnect with his old buddies who have graduated. At first, he felt guilty to leave you alone, but you insisted he go enjoy himself so much that he gave in.
You bring out your phone and adjust your hair, which your mom had put in a half updo adorned with a sparkly white ribbon. Your makeup tonight is bedazzling too, and you admit, for once, it made you feel more beautiful than ever before. Kudos to Danielle for being your makeup artist.
“Y/N!” you hear Jake call for you. You look towards his direction, seeing him quickly approaching you.
“Yeah?” you answer, fidgeting with the empty plastic cup in your hand.
“Do you want to come and play some games?” he asks. “I mean, i-if you want to.”
“Honestly, I don’t really want to,” you reply, “but since we’re already here, why not?”
You watch as Jake’s uptight and polite expression transforms into a bright smile. “Okay!” he beams, grabbing your arm. “Let’s go!”
You don’t know if it’s Jake’s luminous grin or if it’s the games that are fun, but you enjoyed almost every minute of the games you played. You found yourself laughing amongst Jake and his friends, and found them to actually be decently nice. You too found yourself sharing many greasy yet fulfilling snacks with Jake, bonding over random things such as physics, iconic movies and so on.
When the time to go home comes around, Jake escorts you to Heeseung’s car and waits until your brother comes.
“Thanks,” he murmurs, “I had a really good time tonight.”
You give Jake a smile. “Of course!” you pat his shoulder. “I also enjoyed tonight a lot, surprisingly. Thanks for asking me out.”
Jake laughs shyly, the corner of his eyes crinkling along. He rubs the back of his neck. “Y-yeah! You’re welcome… and you know, I think we should hang out sometime?”
“With Dani?” you inquire on instinct—immediately regretting it after, realising the true meaning behind his words.
“Um–” Jake lets out an awkward chuckle. “Sure, alright.”
The breeze blows, and you realise that you’re wearing something so revealing on an autumn night. You push your hair out of your face and rub your bare shoulders with your hands, in an attempt to warm yourself up. “It’s really cold tonight,” you laugh.
“Oh, yeah,” Jake agrees, swiftly removing his suit jacket and placing it on your shoulder. He stands right in front of you—and you notice, then, how tall he is—and adjusts the placement of his jacket on you. “Is it better now?”
The scent of honey, cinnamon, and freshly baked apple pies mixed with a faint touch of expensive cologne attacks your senses. You pull Jake’s suit jacket closer to your body, attempting to combat the cold winds. “Yep! Thank you so much, Jaeyun.”
“Jake!” you hear Heeseung call from a distance, interrupting something Jake was about to say. Your brother—accompanied by Danielle—quickly approaches the two of you, giving Jake a brief handshake. “Thanks for waiting with Y/N.”
Jake places a hand on his chest before nodding slightly. “Of course. The pleasure’s all mine.”
“Thanks for coming to homecoming with my twin brother, Y/N-ie,” Danielle says, giving you a hug. “We finally get to take pictures together. I’ll send them all to you, okay?”
“Yeah, okay,” you nod, mirroring Danielle’s smile. “I’ll see you later, Dani.”
“See you!” she exclaims before linking arms with Jake. “Come on, my feet hurt from all the dancing.”
Jake rolls his eyes. “Who told you to wear heels?”
Danielle simply gave her twin brother an annoyed look. “Shut up. Beauty is pain.”
“Anyway, we have to go now,” Heeseung recalls.
“Mom will kill me if I don’t get you home before midnight,” he continues, nudging you with his elbow. He opens the car door, signalling for you to get in. “Come on.”
“Bye, Jaeyun, Dani!” you say as you get into the car.
Jake sends you a soft smile along with a nod. “Goodbye, Y/N.”
˚ ▒ ₊ㅤ Ⳋ᧙ ⁺
“WHAT THE HELL,” YOU BREATHE SHAKILY. You’re now at home, in your room—barely finished with your nighttime after-shower routine when you hear knocks on your window.
Quickly wiping your hair dry with a towel, you rush to your window, the damp towel still in hand. You push the curtains open, only to be greeted with a vision of Sunghoon, leaning against the glass with a grin on his face. Your eyes widen with shock.
“Park Sunghoon!” you exclaim hushedly, immediately opening the window to let him in.
“Thanks,” he grumbles, effortlessly climbing into your room. He lands with a soft thud, and he stands patiently, waiting for you to close the window.
“God, you gave me a heart attack,” you say. “What are you doing here? It’s cold outside, you know? How did you even manage to climb up here?”
“Eat,” he replies, instead of answering your questions. Sunghoon then hands you a plastic bag filled with goodies—and you perfectly know what’s inside.
“What’s this?” you ask nevertheless, grabbing the plastic bag.
Before you could even open the plastic bag, Sunghoon excellently answers, “Pocari Sweat, cream cheese with salmon kimbap and ice cream.”
A wide grin immediately emerges on your face, much to Sunghoon’s satisfaction. “Oh my god!” you exclaim, sitting down on the heated floor. “I’ve been craving this.”
“You always do,” Sunghoon chimes, sitting down across you, leaning against the wall. Unnoticed by you, Sunghoon stays silent as he watches you eat heartily; your facial features highlighted by the warm light of your bedside table.
Something caresses his heart. Some kind of feeling… It makes him feel full and content.
“Switch on the lights, I swear to God,” Sunghoon sighs.
“No,” you shake your head, cheeks filled with kimbap. “My parents are going to think I’m still awake. Plus, this kind of ambiance makes me sleepy.”
“And?” Sunghoon raises a brow, amused. “Do you want to eat while sleeping?”
“No!” you insist, swallowing a big bite of kimbap. “I want to make myself sleepy so that I can sleep as early as possible.”
Sunghoon snorts. “It’s 12 o’clock, Y/N. What kind of ‘early’ are you talking about?”
He laughs cheerfully—still keeping a low volume—as he dodges a pillow from you.
“I mean,” you defend yourself, mouth still full of food. “At least it’s earlier than 5 o’clock.”
Sunghoon rolls his eyes, laughter still lingering around him. “Whatever you say, princess.”
Princess.
A nickname that rolls off Sunghoon’s tongue so easily. It’s an old habit—stemming from an incident that happened when the two of you were kids; where Sunghoon had deliberately called you ‘princess’ just to annoy you, knowing that you wanted to be a dragon warrior when you grew up, not a princess.
Though, the same nickname used by Sunghoon for years to no end still gives you plenty of butterflies and heart-fluttering moments. By logic, you should’ve gotten used to it by now, considering the absurd amount of times he called you by that.
The two of you sit facing each other, faces lit by the dim light of your mushroom shaped lamp. The both of you sit in pure silence, the sounds of breathing and occasional satisfactory moaning coming from you due to the food filling the atmosphere.
Sunghoon looks at you attentively—the way you melt into every bite of food that you enjoy; the way that you sit cross-legged in front of him, vulnerable and authentic. It’s just you and him—the pure and bare you; your face naked with no makeup on, your shoulder-length hair let loose, the bangs framing your face perfectly as it should.
“Goodness, I’m so tired,” you groan, laying down on the floor with an almost finished ice cream in your hand.
Sunghoon scoffs, adjusting his lean against the wall. “You’re going to choke on that ice cream.”
You throw him a glare. “Shut up.”
“So, Y/N,” Sunghoon says after a moment of unbroken eye contact, caused by him intently watching you try to eat ice cream while laying down. “How was it?”
You immediately sit down. “Hoco?”
Sunghoon nods. “Yeah. Was it fun, with Jake?”
“It was okay. I unexpectedly enjoyed it more than I wanted to,” you reply, finishing your ice cream. “I do think I prefer night-ins to binge watch dramas or movies—like To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, or Emily In Paris—don’t you think?”
Sunghoon smiles briefly. He nods, “movies are more of your thing, I think.”
“Anyway, I’m glad I went,” you continue, “I’m in my senior year—we’re in our senior year, and we won’t get to experience something like this anymore.”
Sunghoon sighs as he shrugs. “Homecoming’s not my thing. I thought… I thought it wasn’t yours either.”
You look at him, staring at his features a minute longer. “I-I mean, it still isn’t. I just went because Danielle and Naeun insisted I go.”
“And because Jake did too?”
“Oh, um,” you stammer, “not really. I-I mean, I’ve been shrugging him off for a while now. I even rejected him for prom last year, remember?”
You swear you saw Sunghoon smirk for a split second. He runs a hand through his hair. “I’m surprised someone even asked you out.”
“Why?” you roll your eyes. “You think I’m not pretty enough?”
“You are.”
“What–”
“You’re too pretty, people are afraid to ask you out.”
Silence.
You stare at Sunghoon, your childhood best friend, with widened eyes. He looks back at you, firmly connecting the eye contact with some kind of determination and genuineness you’ve never quite seen before.
It took a while for you to finally form a response.
“Oh. Um..”
Sunghoon stands up. “Well, then, sleep well. I have to go now.”
“S-so soon?” you blurt out, flabbergasted.
Sunghoon smiles softly. “I have practice tomorrow. Come watch.”
“Of course, I always do,” you nod eagerly. You didn’t know when it all started, but for as long as you remember, Sunghoon and you had always been each other’s biggest supporters. You never really missed any of his hockey matches and most of his practices; and he never truly missed any of your music recitals too.
Your cheeks blush at the thought, and all you could do is gawk at Sunghoon as he ruffles your hair.
“See you later, princess,” he says, pushing your window open. “Sweet dreams.”

Hoon!
I’m so excited! A four-day school trip is really what I needed—just spending time with friends with no worry of anything at all… it must be fun. I hope it’s going to be just like how it is in the dramas; where all we do is play games, maybe sort out treasure hunts and eat delicious food all day. I heard the fee’s going to be quite a lot, so I really do hope the activities are worth attending for.
Also, I think I need to restock on sunscreen and some other stuff. I want to ask Heeseung to take me to Olive Young, but if I’m not mistaken he has a resume to work on and my mom’s not letting him go out until he gets that done.
So…
Okay, I’ll just text you if you want to go. Hope you do, and hope you won’t think it’s weird or anything!

Of course this would happen. On the day when Anna was supposed to meet Bob, one of her colleagues from the English department actually wanted to chat in the lounge. Dr. Lukas was usually quiet, but today he wanted to have an in depth conversation about Anna's Classics lecture and whether or not she would mind if he sat in.
"Please, stop by any time. I would love to get some feedback from you." If she was going to stay in San Diego and try for tenure, she may as well get friendly with someone who'd been at the university for longer than she'd been alive. When she finally excused herself to drop the stack of quizzes she printed in her office before heading to Chippy's, she felt a little sadder.
Would she be able to stay here indefinitely? Could she give up on her manuscript and get something just as fulfilling out of her job teaching here? She wanted to have both. Something about being with Bob and knowing he was falling for her made her feel like she could have both. Her manuscript and her job. The best thing about her old life and one of the best things about her new life in California.
Lost in thought as she took the elevator back up, she turned down the hallway to her office and almost screamed when her door came into view. She froze up, somehow unable to decide if fight or flight was her best option. But it didn't matter. He saw her. He was already walking her way. Once again, he had the upper hand in this scenario. Even when she tried to catch him off guard, he managed to surprise her just as much.
And now a truly devastating thought occurred to her. Kevin knew where she worked. He had taken it upon himself to figure that much out. But what if he knew more than that?
"Anna," he said with a smile as if he was greeting an old friend and not his estranged wife he spent years taking advantage of. "I've been waiting for you."
A chill ran down her spine as she tried to push her shoulders back to her tallest height, and she knew he could tell she was nervous. "Waiting for what, Kevin?"
"Well," he started blandly, "you thought it was okay to interrupt my work event, so I decided I would do the same."
Her stomach felt like it sank to her feet. She needed to find a way to send him packing before she could attempt to leave the building. "I actually have plans tonight, so..."
He laughed in response. "You mean the nerdy guy with glasses? Yeah, I already sent him packing. Your plans are with me now."
"What do you mean you sent him packing?" Did Bob try to stop by her office rather than waiting for her at Chippy's? When she took her phone from her pocket to text him, Kevin snatched it from her fingertips.
Anna was completely alone with him right now, and he was scowling down at her. "I said your plans are with me. I'll hold onto this if it's going to be a distraction for you."
When she crossed her arms over her chest, she could feel the tender bruises on her arm where he grabbed her at his conference. She shouldn't have gone there, and now she didn't know what to do. When Kevin pocketed her phone, she asked, "Would you like to sit in my office and talk?"
"No," he replied calmly. "I think we should go back to your apartment on Monroe Avenue to chat."
There was no use in denying the fact that he just named her street, so she didn't even try. "I think I'd rather chat here."
"And I think I'd rather chat about your manuscript somewhere more private," he snapped even though nobody was around. Then he pulled a USB drive from his pocket, and Anna wanted to lunge for it on his open palm. "We can discuss how you're going to split any profits with me."
Before she could even make a decision about reaching for it, Kevin's fingers closed around it again. He already knew where she lived, and if he actually had her writing with him, she needed to try to play by his rules. "Fine," she told him, trying to keep her voice from shaking. "But only if you give me back my phone."
He nodded once. "As soon as we get to my rental car which is parked a block and a half away."
She could make it that far. She kept her eyes on him as she unlocked her office door, dropped off her quizzes for the following day and locked up again behind her. Then she followed a few steps behind Kevin as he walked down the stairs, out of the building and along the sidewalk, not stopping until he got to a silver Lexus.
"Phone," Anna said, realizing that Bob was going to think she stood him up at this point. That idea made her more upset at the moment than anything Kevin could do to her. She held out her hand and Kevin placed it on her palm. She saw some missed calls from Bob, but she didn't want to piss Kevin off any further at the moment, so she dropped it into her bag.
When they were both inside the rental car on the very short drive to her place, Kevin said, "So, Anna, how do you like living in California?"
"It's better than New Jersey," she retorted immediately.
Kevin snorted. "What's the saying? A New Jersey eight is a California three? I'm surprised you got that poor guy to sleep with you. And I'm surprised you can go out in the sun here without getting a blistering sunburn all over your freckles."
Anna sat there quietly, counting her blessings. She really only had three of them. Friends, a job, and her own apartment. "Are you going to give me that USB drive?" she asked when they were close to her place.
"If you sign some paperwork for me. You seemed keen on waving some bullshit from your lawyer in my face yesterday, so I'm sure I can get you to take a look at what I brought with me."
She hated him and his tone of voice, but mostly she hated the idea of him inside her apartment with her. She took a deep breath as she eventually unlocked her door and let him follow her into her tiny studio.
"Nice place," he said, clearly mocking everything he saw.
"Is it any shock to you that this is all I can afford, Kevin?" she snapped.
"I guess my medical degree is worth more than your arts PhD, huh? God bless medical school."
"You paid for it with my dime," she hissed, barely in control of her emotions now. She could see a smile spreading across Kevin's lips, and she knew she desperately needed to get a grip.
"You were a pretty good wife in some respects," he said, laughing at the look on her face. "But now you've become a pain in my ass. And the little stunt you pulled yesterday at my conference was enough to make me want to find you and let you know how it's going to be from here on out. Okay, Anna?"
When she didn't respond, he pulled that little USB drive from his jacket pocket along with a single folded up piece of paper. He smoothed it out before handing it to her.
"Go ahead and sign that for me, and you can have what you want." That little bit of plastic was back on his palm, and she was almost afraid to take her eyes off of it to read the document. But when she did, she found it was drafted up by his lawyer. He wanted half of any money she made through her writing. The idea of it made her want to throw up.
"And what if I don't agree to this?" she whispered.
"Then I keep it. I don't personally need it as badly as you seem to, so I'd think about how generous I'm being if I were you."
"Why are you like this?" Anna nearly shouted. "Why?"
And that's when Kevin snapped. "You tried to intimidate me!" he hollered. "At my own conference! After my keynote introduction! Do you really think I'm going to let that fucking slide?" Her lips were quivering as she pressed them together, but he just continued. "You're such a bitch, Anna. And apparently someone called Alyssa after they saw you there! She thinks we're already in the process of getting divorced!"
"We could have been by now! But you won't let me go with what's mine!"
But Kevin just yelled over her, and Anna briefly wondered if her neighbors could hear them. "You like your new job? Teaching reading comprehension to adults? I hope you still like it when I do everything in my power to get you fired!"
Tears filled her eyes, and her ears were ringing from his voice. When her apartment door flew open and hit the wall, she thought she had imagined it. But even her imagination couldn't perfectly conjure up Bob Floyd in his Dungeons & Dragons shirt and jeans, cheeks red with anger while his blue eyes flashed behind his glasses.
He was on Kevin immediately, taking him by surprise. Anna fleetingly took note of Kevin's shocked expression before Bob slammed him into the wall next to her bed. She gasped as Bob's forearm met Kevin's neck. "Don't yell at her," he said in that voice she loved so much. But he was gruff and angry right now, and Anna's heart pounded erratically as he added, "You don't get to yell at her like that."
"Who the hell do you think you are?" Kevin grunted, but Bob had him pinned firmly in place. "You're just some guy she's fucking."
Anna wanted to vanish into thin air. The way Kevin tried to make her sound disgusting in front of Bob made her skin crawl with shame. But all Bob did was glance back at her and calmly ask, "Are you okay?"
When she nodded, he turned back to Kevin and pushed him a little harder against the wall, and that's when Anna jumped to action. "Don't hurt him, Bob. Please, just let him go." She was shaking, terrified that after months and months, Bob would get himself in trouble over her. "He's not worth it."
When Bob loosened his hold, he stood firmly in place just inches in front of Kevin with his back to Anna. She had never felt protected like this in her life. Kevin pointed at her over Bob's shoulder and barked, "The deal is off the table."
"Just leave!" she begged, hands shaking relentlessly now. She needed him to go. She really needed both of them to go so she could have a panic attack in peace.
Kevin shoved past Bob and headed for the door, and Bob locked it behind him. Then he turned to look at her, and she had nowhere to go as she sank down onto the floor next to her mattress and started to cry. Bob was there in an instant, and Anna was too tired to fight it when he collected her into his arms. She crawled into his lap, wrapped her arms around his neck and just cried until she was done. His hands were firm and solid against her back, and then he whispered, "Are you sure you're okay?"
She nodded against his neck, inhaling his clean scent. "It's my fault he knows where I work. It's my fault he knows where I live," she hiccupped. "I shouldn't have tested him like I did."
He just hummed and rubbed her back, his fingers tangling in her long hair. "Nothing Kevin decides to do is anyone's fault but his own. Now let's get you out of here."
Anna pulled away from him and swiped at the tears on her cheeks as she asked, "What do you mean? Where am I supposed to go?" She gestured around her tiny living space, but Bob's eyes remained on her face. "This is where I live."
"I'm not leaving you here," he whispered softly. "If he knows where you live and where you work, I don't think you should be here or on campus alone."
"He's mostly harmless," she insisted softly.
Bob just looked sad as he sighed and started to stand. "He was screaming at you, Anna. And I don't like that. Will you please come with me?"
He was holding out his hand as she looked up at him. "Where?"
"My house. You can stay with me."
------------------------------------
Bob watched as Anna collected some of her things. She looked so flustered, shoving clothing, toiletries and her computer into a backpack and a tote bag. She handed them to him and walked around her little apartment in a bit of a daze.
"I'll bring the food from my fridge for my lunch and some quarters for the laundromat," she muttered before chewing on her lip. Bob reached out and took her gently by the hand as she tried to walk past him, and she looked up at him with wide brown eyes.
"Anna, I have plenty of food. And a washer and dryer."
She took a few deep breaths and said, "But I can't just use all of your stuff. I can take care of myself."
"I know you can," he replied immediately. "But you need a break. My house is quiet. There are books and groceries. You can do your laundry. Let's go."
This time she nodded and let him lead her toward the door, but Bob accidentally kicked something across the floor and looked down to find a white USB drive hit the wall next to her bed. "Oh my god," she gasped, releasing his hand and lunging for it. She was kneeling and looking up at him as she whispered, "Kevin dropped it."
Bob's brow furrowed. "What's it from?"
She looked so hopeful now as she stood. "I think it might have my manuscript on it."
"Oh," Bob said in surprise. "Let's get out of here and check it." Anna's hand was back in his the whole way down the stairs, and when he held the door open for her, he pulled her a little closer. "What kind of car was he driving?"
"It was a silver Lexus sedan," she told him, and Bob started looking around at all of the parked cars. "I really don't think he would hang around. I'm telling you, he's an asshole, but he's harmless."
Bob wasn't going to risk it, even though Anna seemed excited now. He opened the passenger side door of his truck and helped her climb in before setting her bags at her feet. Then he walked to the end of the block, looking everywhere for something that could be Kevin's car. When he finally climbed into his truck and started the engine, he drove a slightly convoluted route back to his place, watching for any flash of silver paint.
"Thanks for looking out for me," Anna said softly as he pulled up to the curb in front of his house. "Even after everything."
He wanted to tell her that he would take care of everything if she would let him, but he didn't want to let his feelings overwhelm either of them. "You don't have to thank me for anything. Let's get inside and I'll make dinner while you check that USB drive."
Bob was thankful that Suzanne's door was closed, otherwise he would have had to explain to her why Anna was holding his hand and carrying her overnight bags. As soon as they were in his living room, he made sure his door was locked up tight while she scrambled to get her computer out. She sank down onto the couch and inserted the USB drive, glancing up at him with hopeful eyes. Then her face went expressionless when she looked at the screen.
"It's blank." That didn't sound surprising at all to Bob, and he sighed in relief as she said, "I thought this might be the case." She pushed her computer onto the couch cushion and stood saying, "Will you let me make dinner for you?"
He laughed softly and shook his head. "I already told you that you need a break." He plucked a collection of poems by Emily Dickinson from the top of his book shelf and handed it to her. "Read this. I'll tell you when it's ready."
"Thanks," she whispered, accepting the book from him.
Bob left her in the living room, making a mental list of things he needed to take care of as he peeled some carrots and preheated the oven to cook some chicken breasts. It would only take him a minute to make up the futon in the extra bedroom. He would pack two lunches for tomorrow instead of one. He also needed to call Jessica.
He wished he had something fancier to send Anna to work with, but he did have everything he needed to make sandwiches and fruit salads, and he had some packs of salted peanuts and cans of ginger ale. Once the chicken was in the oven, he slipped out the back door onto his patio, glancing at the street behind him for a silver Lexus while he called Jessica.
"I know, I know," she said when she answered. "I was supposed to send you the notes from D&D, but Jake took me out to dinner. We're on the way home now. I'll send it before bed."
"Hey," he replied. "No, I actually need to ask you to do something else."
"Anything," she replied easily, and Bob was so thankful for his friends.
"If you agree to do it, I need you to not ask a lot of questions at the moment."
"Sure," she told him so casually, his heart literally swelled.
"Anna is staying here with me for a while. Can you pick her up in the mornings on your way to work? I can get her after I leave base in the afternoon, but since you're heading into the city anyway-"
"Yeah. No problem. I can get her around 8:30 or 8:40," she told him. If she was surprised by his request, she didn't show it.
"Thank you, Jess," he said. He added, "I haven't given up," before he ended the call. He made an additional mental note that he needed to pull the weeds in Suzanne's vegetable garden, and then he headed back inside.
--------------------------
Somewhere in the romantic throes of Emily Dickinson, Anna passed out on Bob's couch. She woke up with the book tucked under her chin and his kind face in front of hers. His eyes were so sincere as he said, "Dinner is on the table, and I got the extra bedroom ready."
"Okay," she said as she sat up, still in a daze over everything that happened today. She was proud of herself for not getting her hopes up about what was on the USB drive, but it still hurt to know Kevin was such an ass after all this time. Then as soon as she sat down with Bob and took one bite of the magic carrots he cooked, her brain turned to complete mush. "Oh my god." She took two more big bites, practically moaning over the taste of a hot meal, and she hadn't even gotten to the chicken yet.
"It's nothing fancy, but it's getting late, and I can tell you're tired," he said as he cut up his food.
"Bob," she whispered, looking at him in awe. "This tastes like you went to culinary school."
He blushed bright pink, and Anna desperately tried not to think about how rosy his cheeks had been after he made her orgasm twice. "I'm glad you like it," he muttered, taking a bite and then clearing his throat. "I hope you don't mind, but I called Jess and asked if she could pick you up on her way to campus tomorrow. I would take you myself, but it would add at least 45 minutes to my ride to base in rush hour traffic, and I don't want you waiting for a bus alone."
Anna almost dropped her fork. She couldn't remember the last time someone looked out for her wellbeing like this, because it had never happened before. "Thanks," she whispered. She didn't know how many times she could say that word to him, but she meant it each time she did. And once again he was acting like what he was doing was simply part of his normal existence. Like he helped poor, hungry college professors all the time. Before she bit into the chicken, she asked what had been on her mind earlier. "Why did you come to my apartment anyway?"
He was blushing again as he adjusted his glasses and fumbled his fork. "Uh, well I was running early, so I stopped by your office. Kevin was there, jiggling the doorknob, trying to see if you were inside. He told me he was going to take you back to New Jersey so he could keep track of you."
"Like hell he is!" she snapped. "I'm not going anywhere with him!"
Bob scratched the back of his neck and said, "Yeah, well, as soon as I walked away to see if you were actually already at Chippy's, I just got a weird feeling. When I couldn't find you, I drove to your place. Kevin really rubbed me the wrong way."
The perfect man was sitting across from her, and Anna had to just sit there and eat her delicious chicken while she tried to process things. But then Bob asked, "Why was he there anyway?"
Anna looked up at him like a deer caught in headlights. She knew she needed to be honest with him if she ever had a hope or a prayer, so she said, "I may have figured out he's at a huge conference in Carlsbad until next week. And I may have gone up there and tried to get him to sign over my manuscript."
"Are you serious?" he asked, looking at her like she had two heads. "Anna. You went alone?" She nodded and he said, "I know you think he's harmless, but he looked up your workplace and your address. He tracked you down."
"Yeah," she said softly. "But I tracked him down first."
He sighed deeply. "The difference between you and him is that you wouldn't do anything maliciously but he would. Promise me you won't do something like that again."
The fact that he was worried about her was enough to make her agree, because if Bob Floyd cared about her, then she owed it to him. But also Kevin really got under her skin with his demanding behavior. She knew now that going up to Carlsbad was a bad idea, but she wanted to keep fighting as long as she could. She owed that to herself.
"Let me clean up," she said, standing once she had eaten every speck of food on her plate, but Bob was already shaking his head.
"I'm just going to dump everything in the sink and deal with it tomorrow. Why don't you go up and take a hot shower? You can use anything you find in my bathroom."
Anna wanted to argue with him, but there was such a bone deep ache inside her, and she knew a steamy shower would help alleviate it so she could try to sleep. Once again she thanked him, and once again he told her he didn't mind one bit.
-----------------------------
Bob ended up not only washing all of the dishes and pans but wiping down the entire kitchen, too. Just knowing that Anna was in his shower was making his skin tingle. He thought about being in there with her, but it turned into something more than a sexual need. He just wanted to protect her, kiss the freckles on her shoulders and tell her she could stay here as long as she wanted to. If she simply never left, she could read all of his books and recommend more and more.
With a soft groan, he dragged himself up the stairs once he heard her turn the shower off. He made it to the landing in front of the bathroom door just as she walked out. "You have amazing water pressure," she told him with a little smile. "The shower in my apartment is a tiny stall with terrible water pressure."
Bob wanted to reply, but all he could do was stare at her. She was wearing a tank top and some worn flannel pants, and her damp hair was freshly combed. The sweet smelling steam wafted out, hitting him in the face as he realized that the deep red shade of Anna's wet hair was absolutely, indisputably his favorite color. He never wanted her to go back to her tiny apartment. She didn't even have a real kitchen there. Her bed was on the floor.
Anna cleared her throat and said, "I hope you don't mind, but I made a little spot for some of my stuff on your bathroom counter. You can move it if you want."
"It's fine," he muttered, once again wanting things he shouldn't. But now that he knew exactly how awful Kevin was, it was going to be impossible not to dream that maybe someday Anna would be free. Maybe she'd choose him.
"Okay," she whispered, jerking her thumb toward his extra bedroom. "I'll just get in bed then."
"What?" Bob asked as she took a step away from him. "No, you can sleep in my bed. I'll sleep on the futon." It might kill him to think about her laying on his pillow, tangled up in his sheets, but his bed would be much more comfortable.
"I can't do that," she told him, taking another step. "Not after everything you've done for me."
Before she could make it through the doorway, Bob hooked his arm around her waist and pulled her toward his bedroom. "I insist."
"Bob," she said with a little laugh that melted away into a needier voice as she went along with him. "I'm only going to sleep in your bed if you're there, too."
Fuck. He wanted it so badly, he was automatically nodding in agreement. Anna's lips parted softly, and she sucked in a breath. He steered her toward the bed, and that's when he saw it. He grunted, his steps coming to a halt as he ducked his chin down a little bit so she met his gaze.
"Why is your arm bruised?"
Her lips were pressed in a thin line as she looked up at him wordlessly. Just when he thought she wasn't going to respond, she whispered, "He never did anything like it before, but he grabbed me pretty hard yesterday. I... made him really mad."
"He has no right," Bob growled. "I don't care what you did to him, he should have kept his hands off you."
"But my manuscript is so important to me, and I want it back."
"Anna," he said, cupping her soft cheek in his hand. "Your manuscript isn't worth more than you."
Her eyes fluttered closed, and she nodded. Her long lashes were still resting on her cheeks as she whispered, "I'm ready for bed."
Bob's heart was skipping around in his chest as he kissed her forehead. "Go ahead and climb in. I'll be right there."
He watched as she pulled back the bedding and slipped in between the sheets. After he grabbed some gym shorts and a clean undershirt, he ducked out of the room and into the bathroom. Anna's pink toothbrush and her purple comb were next to the sink. There was some face wash and toothpaste and a bag of makeup. He had to take a minute to pull himself together. He needed to be able to share a bed with her in approximately five minutes.
He brushed his teeth and did all of the necessities before changing into what he was planning on wearing to sleep. He was trying his best to keep his feelings at bay, but it felt like he had I LOVE ANNA written across his forehead when he slipped back into his bedroom. She was clearly emotionally exhausted, but she looked spectacular laying there waiting for him.
When he paused in the doorway, she lifted up the covers on his side of the bed, and Bob carefully folded up his glasses before climbing in next to her. He flicked off the lamp on his nightstand. Neither of them said a word, but when his hand bumped hers beneath the covers, he felt her lace their fingers together. And a few minutes later, Anna was curled up along his side, sound asleep.
----------------------------------
This whole week is a whirlwind for Anna, but at least ending up in Bob's bed when it's time to go to sleep is a high point. Kevin must be destroyed. Thanks @beyondthesefourwalls

a/n: let's try another shot at this series thing... here we go
JUNE 2020
I dribble the ball between my legs before taking a step back and shooting the ball. It's almost midnight, and the thunder claps should've kept me in bed, but it seems like the last thing I can do is sleep. It's been three weeks.
Azzi already got her acceptance letter to Uconn. We'd applied at the same time, yet hers came almost a month ago, and I'm sitting here empty-handed.
What if they denied me? What if they just forgot to send it, and I don't find out until I'm in the middle of Texas? Sure, it's not common for colleges to scout one school and find what they're looking for. But with us, I feel like they could. It's always been us two- Azzi and I- and even Paige, and although Paige and I aren't speaking, I don't think I'm ready to let that go yet.
I don’t think I’ll ever be ready to let that go.
But here I am, letting them slip through my fingers. Letting her slip from my grasp.
How did I get here? How’d it get like this? It seems like these past few months have been nothing but loss, love, and the bittersweet taste of change.
I’m a great basketball player, I know that. But if any coach was scouting me right now, they’d cross me off the list immediately. The way the basketball clangs off the backboard once more causes me to groan in frustration, throwing my head back. I chase after it, positioning myself at what would be the wing.
Basketball is a mindless game. Something I do well without even thinking about it. The movement of the ball, the way it bounces off the court, the way my wrist flicks when it leaves my hands, the swish of it passing through the net, whatever; the motions are fluid. Subconscious, even. Something I can do with my eyes closed without a second thought. But right now, I'm thinking about everything, including her. And as though I'd summoned her…
“Dude, it's midnight, what the fuck are you doing?” a groggy voice calls. I flinch at the unexpected presence, and turn around to see Paige. She's got her hair down, the blonde locs frizzy from her sleeping position.
The house lights illuminate her hair, the yellowish glow casting a shadow on the cement. Her red plaid pajama pants hang dangerously low on her waist, her Nike Pro boxers peeking above the cotton material. She's wearing a Uconn hoodie because, of course, she is.
I roll my eyes. “Just throwing shots up.” I say, holding the ball on my hip. I could practically hear her eyes roll. “No, no, I can see that, I just mean, why? It's literally about to rain.”
“Why do you care? Why don't you go back to sleep?” I huff, shooting the ball up again.
She scoffs. “I'd actually love to. In fact, I couldn't think of anything better to do-” I wince as the ball bounces off the rim again. “-but when all I can hear is a fucking ball bouncing, it's kinda hard to enjoy slumber.”
I roll my eyes. “Whatever, I'll be done soon.” I mutter as the ball bounces towards her, internally sighing as she picks it up. I hold my hands out, motioning for her to give it to me. She doesn't.
“Why can't you sleep?” She asked, her voice sounding genuinely concerned. That's the thing. She's pretty fucking good at that.
I sigh. “Can I just get the ball, bro.” She can't make anything fucking easy.
She smirks. “Nah. Not ‘till you tell me why you're playing basketball in the middle of the night when it's about to storm.” I groan.
Don't let her in again.
“Nevermind, I'm tired anyway. Court's yours, asshole.” I say, shoving past her and stomping into the house.
There's nothing more I've wanted to do than break down in her arms and tell her everything that I'm thinking, and have her hold me and tell me everything's gonna be okay.
But I've already done that.
And I'm not making that mistake again.

Dear Motherhood Series Masterlist
“I want you all tending to my Lady Wife,” Daemon says whilst taking the 4 month old Aegon into his arms from the handmaidens. “But my Prince, who will tend to your children?” She questions anxiously. Daemon looks over his shoulder to Leyla laying in bed peacefully asleep.
“Their father of course. I’ve taken care of Alyssa and Baelon myself plenty of times before with ease. My dear Leyla is who you should be worrying about,” Daemon says just as Alyssa and Baelon come running in.
“Forigve me, my Prince, but now you have Aegon under your wing aswell-“ “You dare question my ability to look after my children?” Daemon interrupted her as her eyes widened. “I-I n-no of course not-“ “Good. My children will be by my side today,” He says before turning around and not giving the handmaiden another look.
Daemon and the children move over to where Leyla laid. A handmaiden pressing a damp cloth onto her forehead. She had not been taking the pregnancy well at all. The maesters had said that it was due to her body still recovering from giving birth to Aegon.
“Will mumma be okay?” Alyssa asks quietly as she looks up to her father, “Your mother is a strong woman. Of course she will be okay, don’t worry” He ran his fingers through her daughter’s platinum white hair in comfort.
Baelon, their second youngest, reached over carefully to his mother’s hand and placed a gentle kiss on it. This caused Leyla to slowly turn her head and smile weakly. “My darlings,” She spoke in quiet tone. “Mumma!” Baelon gasps as he quickly gets into bed with her, followed by Alyssa.
“Children, be gentle please, your mother still needs her rest,” Daemon chuckles, rocking Aegon as he watches the sight infront of him. “Please feel better mumma” Baelon says in a muffled tone as be hugs Leyla’s chest, Alyssa placing a kiss on her mother’s cheek. Leyla let out a soft chuckle.
“What is going on here?” Maester Mellos says as he walks in on the scene. “We’re making mumma feel better!” Baelon says enthusiastically as Mellos raises an eyebrow and looks to the Prince who chuckles. “Alright, Alyssa and Baelon let’s leave your mother to rest. You will see her later,” He helps the two down from the bed.
~
When Daemon said his children would be by his side, he quite literally meant it. He brought along his three children everywhere he went.
“The tourney is held tomorrow for the Queen’s name day celebrations, is there any word yet from the Starks about their appearance?” Daemon asks, before Lord Lyonel could even speak up, they were interrupted by Prince Baelon. “Father I’m bored!” He huffs.
Daemon looks around the table, a few pieces of parchment laid there, “Pass me a quill” He says as the lords stare at him dumbfounded. After a few seconds of silence Daemon speaks up again, irritated this time. “I asked if I could be brought a quill please,” Lord Beesbury quickly passed the Prince a quill.
“Here you go, share with your sister,” He passes the pieces of parchment and quill to Baelon who smiles and runs away. “We needed those parchment papers, Daemon” Otto sternly says after watching the whole ordeal, “And your grandson wishes to be entertained. We can always ask for more,” He shrugs.
~
“Ah! I’ve been looking for you, and my darling nieces,” Alicent makes her way to Daemon stopped middway in the corridor with the children to visit Caraxes, a request from Alyssa and Baelon themselves. “Auntie!” Baelon and Alyssa jump and down and engulf Alicent in a tight hug as she giggled.
“Where are you all off to?” She says looking at the children, though she was mostly aiming it to Daemon. The older Hightower sister tickles Aegon’s stomach as he hides his head in Daemon’s neck, his small giggles making the two adults chuckle. “The children wish to see Caraxes today,” He answers her sister-in-law.
“Oh.” Her face slowly drops, contrast to her sister, Alicent disliked dragons. She thought of them dangerous to their family. “I can take Aegon if you wish-“ She says in an unbeat tone, her hands reaching the babe in Daemon’s hold. “No. That is quite alright, Alicent,” He slightly moves away from her as she was taken aback.
“Bye auntie Alicent!” Baelon and Alyssa say in-sync as the wave and run along with Daemon following behind. Alicent watches as the family leave the castle, she shook her head to herself and let out a small chuckle before turning to leave herself.
Caraxes was a complete softie for Daemon and Leyla’s children. At first, Leyla was skeptical about introducing her children to the dragon but trusted Daemon. Caraxes was after all, Daemon’s dragon, an extension of him.
When Leyla was first pregnant with Alyssa, Caraxes was always placing his snout on her middle section. He could sense whenever there was a child growing in Leyla. So when the Alyssa was born, they made sure to visit Caraxes and introduce him to the newest edition of the family.
It soon became tradition as they did the same with the next two. The children had dragons of their own, even Aegon, but nothing compared to their father’s infamous blood-wyrm. Alyssa and Baelon adored Caraxes strangely enough, always petting him and pulling at his feet while Caraxes laid back, often huffing in annoyance which was hilarious to watch.
“Hello Caraxes!” “Mumma is not feeling well so we came to visit you!” The two Targaryen children run up to Daemon’s dragon. The dragon keepers always watch in amazement as the two children manage to get closer to Caraxes than them.
The dragon keeper’s practically held their breath as Caraxes stretches his long neck over to where Daemon stood with Aegon. His snout moves to where the 4 month old was in Daemon’s arms. Little Aegon reached his hand out and the blood wyrm closed his eyes and allowed for the young boy to caress him.
Daemon watched with a smile. Seeing the children enjoy Caraxes’ presence and vice versa, never fails to make him happy. If Alicent was there, she would have already fainted seeing her precious nieces that close to the dragon.
~
The crowd of Lords and Ladies all murmur as they watch Alyssa, Baelon, and Daemon walk in, Aegon in his hold. They were running behind time for Alicent’s birthday celebration in the throne room; Alyssa was fussing about which dress she wanted to wear.
The sight of Daemon and his children never failed to make people talk. Maybe it was because of the fact that they would never have expected him to be a father to children, yet alone three—soon to be four. Alyssa and Baelon clung to their father’s side as they walked down the middle, all eyes on the family.
Alyssa and Baelon curtsy when they reach the table where Viserys and Alicent watch with smiles on their faces. “Happy Nameday, Auntie” Baelon says as Alyssa hands a present to Alicent.
~
Leyla walked around the castle in search of her Husband and children, she had felt much better and had energy to walk around. She had just missed her sister’s feast which finished 4 hours ago.
“Where could they be..” She says to Alyssane who accompanied her incase she felt ill again. She walks past her solar, the door slightly ajar making her stop in her tracks and look back. Quietly opening the door wider, her heart melted at the scene infront of her.
Daemon asleep on the daybed, Aegon asleep on his chest and Baelon and Alyssa snuggled to their father’s chest. “The prince had the children by his side all day today,” Alyssane whispered making Leyla look to her. She looked back at her Husband and children, she knew Daemon was an amazing father and she was glad she’s able to create a family for the two of them.

THE LATE AUGUST sun hangs high in the sky, bathing the Minneapolis airport in a warm, golden light as Paige steps out of the terminal. When her eyes set on her dad and Drew, her face breaks out into a large grin. She hugs them, lets her little brother grip onto her leg, ruffling the boy’s hair. She’s home—and thank God for it. The summer was fun, of course, filled with basketball camps, tournaments, endless travel, and a nice week spent with her friend Azzi Fudd’s family. But it was a little bit exhausting, and, by the end of it, all Paige had longed for was to be home, with her family, with her friends, with Dani. Her heart races with the thought of finally being back in the presence of her best friend—well, she supposes they’re more than that now.
As soon as Paige drops her bags into her dad’s SUV and slides into the passenger seat, she pulls out her phone and eagerly clicks on Dani’s contact, calling her. She can already imagine the smile on Dani’s face when she hears Paige’s voice. The way her eyes would light up and that infectious laugh that Paige adores.
The phone rings once. Twice. Then a third time. And then…
“Hey, this is Dani. Sorry I can’t get to the phone right now. Leave a message, and I’ll get back to you!”
The voicemail beeps and Paige frowns, the joy and pure excitement she felt moments ago faltering just a bit. She didn’t expect Dani to answer on the first ring—the brunette isn’t one to be glued to her phone—but the voicemail still surprises her. Paige stares at the screen, before pressing the red “End Call” button.
Instead of leaving a message, Paige opts to text her best friend, assuming she’ll probably get a quicker response that way anyways.
Paige ❤️🔥
Hey I just got back home do you wanna do something later?
I really wanna see you I’ve missed you sm
Paige sends it, sighing as she drops her phone into her lap. She feels her dad’s gaze on her from the driver’s seat and she turns, seeing his arched brows. He begins to pull out of the parking lot as he asks, “Everything okay, P?”
“Yeah,” Paige replies, sulking a little bit. She knows she’s being a tad dramatic, but she can’t help it—this is the longest she’s ever been away from Dani and all she wants is to see the girl again, talk to her, hug her, kiss her… “Was just tryna get ahold of Dani, is all. I haven’t talked to her since, like, June. Do y’know if she’s back from camp yet?”
Paige remembers when Dani sent her that text about a week after Paige left, telling her that she was going to some summer camp for the next couple months or so and she wouldn’t be able to talk to Paige since they were taking her phone. The blonde had thought it was weird that Dani was even going to a summer camp at all—she’s always hated those things. But Paige had merely accepted it and told her to have a good time, all the while her chest aching at the thought of complete radio silence between her and the Callan girl for the next couple months.
“I’m not sure,” Bob says, rubbing his chin a little as he drives, keeping his eyes on the road. “Haven’t seen her around at all, so I doubt it. You seen her any, Drew?”
In the back seat, Drew perks up at the sound of his name, saying, “No… I wish I have, though. I miss her almost as much as I missed you, Paigey.”
Paige glance to the back, grinning at her younger brother. “Missed you, too, Drewski.” But then the blonde’s mind trails back her best friend, shaking her head as she says, “I thought she’d be back by now, though. School starts in, like, three days.”
“Well, if she is back, I’m sure she’s just getting ready for the school year again. You know, Paige, even though you don’t, she still has to do all of her college applications. That takes up time; she’s probably just focused on that,” Paige’s dad reasons, giving his daughter a reassuring smile. He’s probably not wrong; Dani’s always been the type of person that’s practically manic about her grades and anything that has to do with college, even though Paige knows she’s certainly smart enough to get into most schools that aren’t, like, Ivy’s, of course.
So, Paige nods absently to her father’s words, gazing out the window as the familiar streets pass her by. She knows she shouldn’t be so paranoid and weird about this, but something about Dani not contacting her or answering her call just rubs Paige in the wrong way a little bit. They’ve barely talked since that night back in May—before Paige had left for the summer—and, almost as soon as Paige did leave, things began to seem a bit… weird. Off. But Paige tries to shrug that feeling off, convincing herself that everything is gonna go back to normal once they’re together again.
Eventually, the car pulls into the driveway and the three Bueckers get out, hauling Paige’s bags inside the house. As they’re heading in, Paige sneaks a glance at Dani’s house. The lights are off, there’s no car in the driveway—it looks as if nobody’s home. In a way, that actually relieves Paige a little bit; it probably just means that Dani really is busy and has a valid reason for not answering Paige’s call or text.
When Paige finally has all of her things thrown across her bedroom floor, she collapses onto her bed, glad to finally be home, in her own space. She lays there for a long moment, before her phone pings. Almost immediately—and a little bit pathetically, Paige thinks—Paige jumps up, grabbing her phone, hoping and praying it’s from the girl she’s so longing to talk to.
But, when she sees the contact name, Paige’s face drops in disappointment.
Jalen Suggs
Yo, u were supposed to get back today right?
Thaliah and I are at the park rn getting some shots in if ur around u should come by
And then, another text from a different contact:
Thaliah Sommers ❌❌
p if you are back in town you better come hang with us!!!
we miss youuuuu!!!!!!
Paige smiles a little bit at the idea of seeing her friends after three long months without them. Still, she can’t shake the disappointment that the one person who still hasn’t bothered to contact her is the one person that she really, truly wants to see. Even so, Paige sends Thaliah and Jalen a response each, telling them she’s about to leave and she’ll be there soon.
She makes her way downstairs, calling to her dad in the kitchen, “I’m going to the park to hang out with Jalen and Thaliah!”
Bob just calls back, “Okay, be careful—oh, and be back for dinner! I’m making alfredo!”
“Will do!”
Paige opens the door and leaves her house, her long legs carrying her quickly to the nearby park where she and her friends have spent countless hours together over the years, playing pick-up games until the sun dipped below the trees. As she approaches, she spots Jalen mindlessly dribbling a basketball as he talks with Thaliah, who’s sprawled across a picnic table, legs stretched out.
“P!” Jalen calls as soon as he notices her. He pauses mid-dribble, face breaking out into a wide grin. Thaliah turns, too, standing from the picnic table, eyes alight as she waves to the blonde enthusiastically.
Paige grins back, the familiar sight of her best friends warming some of the ache in her chest. She jogs over, giving Jalen a bro-hug before wrapping her arms around Thaliah in a quick embrace. “Missed you guys,” she says, happy to be home.
“Missed you, too,” Thaliah replies, squeezing her back. “Summer’s treating you well, I see; cause, girl, you are tan! How’s it all been?”
“Exhausting,” Paige admits with a chuckle, pulling away. “But good.”
“Bet you’re glad to be home,” Jalen says, tossing his basketball from hand to hand.
“Yeah,” Paige nods, smile faltering just a little. “It’s good to be back.”
“Wanna shoot around?” Thaliah asks, already bouncing the ball off the backboard and catching it. She doesn’t actually play basketball—volleyball is more her scene, actually. Nevertheless, she’s always enjoyed playing with Jalen and Paige.
“Sure,” the blonde agrees, though her mind still seems to be elsewhere. She steps off the court, trying to push the growing anxiety and utter longing that’s been gnawing at her since she landed.
As they play, Paige finds herself half-listening to Jalen and Thaliah’s banter. Normally, she would have jumped right in, teasing and talking trash. But today, it seems like her brain has the capacity to truly only think about one thing: Dani. She wants to know why she hasn’t called her back yet, why she hasn’t even bothered to reply to Paige’s text. The silence eats at the point guard, tearing its nails into her resolve. Finally, she decides she can’t take it anymore.
“So, hey,” Paige starts, her tone casual, but the slight edge in her voice betrays her. “Do you guys know if Dani’s back from camp yet?”
Almost immediately, Jalen and Thaliah share a surprised glance full of raised brows and slacked jaws. That’s all it takes for Paige’s stomach to drop. Clearly, there’s something they both know.
“P,” Jalen begins, his voice uncharacteristically gentle, almost like he’s about to break bad news. “Dani’s been back for almost a month now.”
Paige’s whole body goes frigid, the basketball slipping through her fingers and bouncing away. She swallows thickly before asking, “What?”
Thaliah nods, expression sympathetic and a little reserved as she adds, “Yeah, she got back a while ago.” She glances at Jalen again before returning her eyes to Paige. “We thought you knew.”
“I” Paige starts, but her throat seems to dry out. She gulps again, feeling as though there are claws tearing at her vocal chords, her chest, her insides, her everything, because—why hasn’t Dani told Paige? “No, I didn’t,” the blonde finally gets out, voice small, almost lost amidst the sounds of the park. “She didn’t tell me.”
Jalen scratches the back of his neck, clearly uncomfortable. “She’s been kinda… different, since she got back,” he mumbles, shrugging. “Really distant.”
Paige’s heart pounds in her chest almost as if it’s trying to crawl its way out of her rib cage. The shock of her friends’ words slowly begins to melt into confusion and hurt. “Distant?” she asks. “What do you mean?”
Thaliah shrugs, sighing. “Just like, she never asks to hang with us anymore, and if we try to initiate it, she always gives us some shitty excuse why she can’t go. Like, a couple weeks ago, we asked her to hang out and she said she was sick. And then we went to the mall and literally saw her there hanging out with other people.” Thaliah shakes her head in clear irritation, rolling her eyes a little.
“Who’s she been hanging around with if not you guys?” Paige asks, still trying to make sense of the situation.
“Well, I know she’s been with Serena Corren a lot,” Thaliah replies. Paige furrows her brows at the answer. Serena’s a cheerleader and not a very kind person—certainly not the type of person that Dani would willingly want to hang out with. “I mean, I guess it’s not that weird since Serena’s on yearbook, too, but like she’s such a bitch—so, it kinda is.”
Thaliah pauses, her and Jalen sharing another look that makes Paige’s insides squeeze together.
“Is that it?” Paige asks, eyes narrowing as they dart between her two friends.
Thaliah sighs heavily then, running a hand through her hair, not making eye contact with Paige. “Well,” she says slowly, and then she meets the blonde’s gaze. Thaliah’s eyes turn apologetic. “She’s dating Beau Hudson now.”
Suddenly, it feels like the ground beneath Paige has been ripped out from under her. Paige stares at Thaliah, open-mouthed, hoping she’s heard wrong. “What?”
“Beau Hudson,” Jalen repeats, grimacing as he says the name. “P, you know him—Hopkins’ quarterback, a certified dick.”
Of course, Paige knows him. She’s known him since elementary school. She and Dani—and eventually Thaliah and Jalen—have been mocking Beau for years. He’s the type of jock that’s got more muscles than brains, the type of guy that throws himself at girls just because he can. And, the thought of Dani—Paige’s Dani—dating someone like him is completely unfathomable to the blonde.
“That doesn’t make any sense,” Paige mumbles, shaking her head. Dani told Paige that she loved her just a couple months ago. She’d told Paige that even with the distance between them, they’d be okay. “Why would she—?”
“We don’t know,” Thaliah says quietly. “She’s just changed, Paige. I mean, the last time I talked to her it felt like she was a completely different girl.”
Paige’s mind spins, trying to piece together the fragments of information. Dani’s back. Dani’s dating Beau Hudson. Dani didn’t even bother telling Paige that she was home. Anger flares up, sharp and hot, but underneath it is something deeper, more painful. Paige feels hurt, deep and bone-crushing.
“She didn’t even tell me,” Paige whispers, more to herself than them.
Jalen takes a hesitant step closer, resting a hand on the blonde’s shoulder. “Maybe you should talk to her. Find out what’s going on.”
Paige nods numbly, but inside, she’s a storm of raging emotions. She can’t seem to understand how things changed so drastically, so quickly. The Dani Paige knows—her best friend, the girl she’s loved for as long as she can remember—would never have done any of this. There has to be some kind of explanation, some sort of reason behind it all.
The rest of their time at the park is a blur for Paige. She plays, but neither her heart or head are in it, all too preoccupied with thoughts of Dani. As soon as she can, she makes an excuse to leave. It might make her a little bit of a shitty friend because she hasn’t seen Jalen and Thaliah in months, but she simply can’t help it. The pair offer her sympathetic smiles as she goes, but she doesn’t notice. All she really knows is that she has to talk to Dani.
She has to know why.
The late afternoon sun beats down on Paige as she walks along the sidewalk, staring at the cracks in the cement as she goes. They’re like her emotions right now—all cracked and crooked, a chaotic mess of confusion, hurt, and anger. A desperate need for answers.
She has no idea what she’s gonna say, and her brain doesn’t even bother trying to articulate something. Instead, it runs haywire, bouncing around in her skull as it attempts to make sense of all the information that is so clearly wrong. She’s half in denial, thinking that maybe Thaliah and Jalen merely read into things wrong, that perhaps Dani’s just going through a bit of a rough patch. Maybe Paige can talk some sense into her and maybe, just maybe, everything can go back to normal for their senior year. God, Paige fucking hopes so.
When she finally reaches the end of the street, standing in front of Dani’s house, Paige goes frigid. She stares, gaze flickering between the house before her and her own house right next door. Right here, in the small circumference that surrounds these two homes, holds so many important memories to Paige. She can picture her and Dani as kids, running between the two front yards, laughing and playing without a care in the world. She remembers the slip in slide their parents set up right here, the way she and Dani wore it out until there were holes in the plastic and wet grass sticking to their skin. She remembers playing fetch with Dani’s dog, Maverick, until all three of them had tired out, Dani and Paige laying on the ground with the golden retriever in between them. She remembers sitting on Dani’s front porch, holding her best friend and letting her cry into her shoulder after they found out Dani’s mother died. She remembers kissing Dani by the door in the dark until both of them could barely breathe, swallowing each other’s giggles.
But now, everything feels different. Darker. Dimmer. The house before Paige feels almost foreboding, like it’s guarding the secrets Dani’s been keeping from her.
Paige takes a deep breath, trying to steady herself. She isn’t sure what to expect, but she knows she has to face whatever’s waiting on the other side of that door, whatever hard truth she’s about to be exposed to.
Her hand trembles as she reaches out to knock. She has so many questions, so much to say, but, now, as she stands here, all of it begins to choke her. She swallows thickly, clearing her throat, before knocking twice.
A few moments later, the door opens. And there she is—Dani Callan, standing in the doorway, looking different yet heartbreakingly familiar. At the sight of her, Paige’s breath catches in her throat. Dani’s hair is pulled back in a messy bun, and she’s dressed in a simple tank top and shorts, but it’s her expression that strikes Paige the most. There’s a hardness in Dani’s eyes, one that the blonde has never been subjected to, a coldness that she’s never seen before.
“Paige,” Dani acknowledges, her voice flat, almost emotionless. She doesn’t step aside to let her in.
Paige swallows, her mouth dry. “Hey, Dan. Can we talk?”
Dani hesitates, glancing over her shoulder as if she’s considering closing the door. Then, she sighs, stepping back to let Paige in. Even so, her demeanor doesn’t hold an invitation—just an odd vexation. “Sure. Come in.”
The house is eerily quiet as Paige follows her best friend inside. It feels all wrong, like the silence is pressing down on her, suffocating. Dani leads her to the living room, before sitting down on the couch, posture stiff. Paige stays standing a few feet away, her arms crossed protectively over her chest.
“What’s going on?” Paige asks, trying to keep her voice firm yet she hears a crack in it. A tremble. “Why didn’t you tell me you were back? Why didn’t you—”
“Paige,” Dani interrupts, her tone sharp and cutting. It makes the words die on the blonde’s lips. “I don’t want to do this.”
Paige blinks, taken aback by the harshness in the brunette’s voice. “Do what? Talk?” she scoffs, shaking her head, anger creeping up. “You haven’t talked to me in months, Dani! I’ve been worried about you, I’ve been missing you nonstop—and then I find out you’ve been back for weeks and didn’t even bother to let me know?”
Dani looks away, jaw clenching. “I’ve been busy.”
“Busy?” Paige repeats indignantly. If anything, Paige has been busy, traveling from place to place, balancing basketball and everything else. And yet, she’d always, always make time for her best friend. “Really? You’ve been too busy to call me? Too busy to even text?” The blonde’s voice begins to rise steadily, the hurt and confusion she’s been holding back beginning to spill out. “I mean, fuck, Dani! We kissed! And you told me that you loved me. And—and then, what? You just disappear! I mean, what the hell is going on?”
Dani flinches at Paige’s words, but she doesn’t respond right away. She stares at the ground for a long moment, the room going completely silent. And then she finally glances up, eyes meeting Paige’s. There’s a flicker of something there—guilt, maybe?—but it’s gone as quickly as it comes. “That night,” she starts slowly, taking a long breath out, “it was a mistake.”
Paige’s heart stutters in her chest, almost like it’s about to fail. A mistake. For the first time today, the blonde feels her eyes begin to burn. She furiously fights the tears, refusing to cry here. Clearly, she’d only be embarrassing herself. “A mistake?” Paige whispers, shaking her head. “Dani, you’re not serious.”
“I am,” the Callan girl responds, voice flat. “It never should’ve happened. I don’t want that. I don’t want… you.”
The words hit Paige like a punch to the gut, and she steps back, heart thudding in her chest. “You can’t mean that.” She can’t. Dani told Paige that she loved her, that she was in love with her.
“I do,” Dani insists, her tone growing more resolute with each word. “Paige, I can’t be what you want me to be. I don’t want to be. I have a boyfriend now, and—”
“Beau Hudson? You hate Beau Hudson!” Paige shouts, her anger boiling over. She feels like every inch of her body is being scorned, flames burning through her skin and into her very being. “I mean, we both do! We always have. We’ve made fun of him for years—and for good reason! He’s a dick, Dani! And now, you’re just— you’re dating him? After everything we—”
“Just stop, Paige!” Dani cuts her off, voice louder than Paige has ever heard it. It’s full of emotion—though Paige can’t seem to decipher what emotion exactly—the most feeling the brunette has put into her words the entire conversation. “You need to stop. Whatever you think we had, it’s over. It’s done.”
Paige stares at her. She can feel it—over a decade of friendship, over a decade of Paige and Dani fading away. It’s been them; it’s always been them since they were five years old. And now, Paige feels that being ripped away from her, stolen. She fights for it. She wants it back. “But… why? Why’re you doing this?”
Dani looks away again, her eyes fixed on a spot on the floor. “Because we can’t be friends anymore, Paige. I don’t want to be friends with you. I just want you to leave me alone.”
Paige’s eyes sting again, but she blinks the tears back, letting the salt simmer in her eyes. “Is this because of what happened? Because of the kiss? Because of the I love you’s? Because if it is—”
“It’s not about the kiss,” Dani says, voice cold and final. “Or about the I love you’s. It’s about everything. I grew up—and I think you should, too.”
Paige gapes, and a roar of confusion tears through her again. “What does that even mean?”
“It means you’re clinging to something that’s never going to happen,” Dani replies, lips turning down into something between a frown and a scowl. “I’m with Beau now. I’m moving on. So. Should. You.” She says the words slowly and firmly as if she’s really trying to cement them in Paige’s brain. Paige blanches at them.
“Moving on?” the blonde repeats, the words shredding through her vocal chords. “You don’t have to move on! I’m right here! I want you!”
“But I don’t!” Dani shouts back. “Can’t you get that? I don’t want you, Paige.”
The point guard opens her mouth to argue, to beg, but the words won’t come. She feels like she’s drowning, like everything she’s ever known is slipping away from her, and there’s not a single thing she can do to stop it.
Dani stands up, crossing her arms over her chest as she stares at Paige with a look that’s almost pitying. “Please, Paige. Just go.”
Paige stands there for a long moment, feet planted, staring at the girl she thought she knew, the girl she thought loved her. But this isn’t Dani—not the Dani she remembers, not the one she’s spent her whole life with. This is someone else, someone who’s built walls so high and so thick that Paige can’t even begin to break through.
She turns away slowly, legs feeling like lead. She wants to say more, to continue demanding, to go up to Dani and shake her shoulders until the sense has been come back to her. But Paige doesn’t. Instead, she walks to the door, heart cracking with every step.
When she gets to the doorway, she pauses, turning back to look at her childhood best friend one last time.
“If you ever change your mind…” she mumbles, eyes traveling across Dani before landing on the other side of the room, unable to really look at her. “If you ever want to talk…”
But Dani just shakes her head. “Goodbye, Paige.”
Paige nods, stepping outside, the door closing behind her with a finality that feels like what might as well be the end of everything. She stands on the porch for a long moment, trying to process what just happened, but all she can seem to feel is a crushing sense of loss. Finally, the tears begin to spill over and a harsh sob rips through Paige’s chest. She doesn’t bother wiping the tears away, instead just lets them fall. Lets them carry the pain, the confusion, the heartbreak.
But even as she walks away, over to her own house right next door, there’s one thing Paige can’t let go of—the feeling that the Dani she knows, the Dani she loves, is still in there somewhere. And no matter what Dani says, no matter how much she pushes Paige away, the blonde refuses to give up on her. Not yet.
Maybe not ever.

WHAT’S MY NAME? i come alive in the nighttime. okay, away we go. only thing we have on is the radio.
THIS IS PART FOUR! pairing, paige bueckers x tutor!oc. notes, i think after this we can label paige as a crashout. this was so fun to write LMFAO. i’ll also be making a masterlist soon. warnings, minimal arguing ou… more sexual content & possessive paige? real tender or whatever.
liana sat between her two friends, their laughter mingling with the low hum of conversation around them. it had been a while since she had allowed herself to relax—her mind, atleast. no tutoring sessions, no basketball players, and, well… naomi was still there. she was always anywhere liana was, even if it wasn’t physically. paige had started to become that for her as well, but in a scarily good way. she was consuming her thoughts. tonight, however was just about good food, good drinks, and good company in a restaurant they’d been to a countless amount of times just outside of storrs, because quite frankly, there is literally nothing to do in storrs.
on her left, sat her friend amara, who was leaning back in her chair, her long faux locs cascading over her shoulders as she toyed with the silver ring in her septum. across from her was malik, dressed in his usual vibrant button-up, the fabric stretching slightly over his chest as he gestured exaggeratedly while recounting a story about his latest date. his animated storytelling along with the side notes had them both in stitches, and it felt good.
“i’m just saying, if he orders another round of oysters, i’m gonna have to start questioning his intentions,” malik teased, his grin widening as he leaned forward. amara snorted, nearly choking on her drink as she held up a hand, beginning to wave it around.
“okay, okay, but you survived, right? and now you know what to avoid on your next date,” she replied, always one to find a fair conclusion. she had one happy perspective on life, something incredibly admirable but also annoying at times. “wait… speaking of dates…”
liana froze for a second, her fork hovering over her plate of pasta. she had been waiting for this. a night out meant catching up, and catching up meant eventually diving into the complicated mess that was paige and naomi.
over the course of a few weeks, paige and liana had grown closer, sharing intimate moments that hinted at something deeper, yet never fully crossing that line. naomi, on the other hand, was becoming more aware of the growing distance between them. i mean, how could she not know? it was becoming painfully obvious liana was seeing someone else, sneaking around. but maybe she just didn’t wanna believe it.
she had been putting in more effort though, which was also an obvious factor. it was like she was holding onto something that had died out awhile ago, and while liana had found a distraction—or whatever it was, naomi just became more possessive. she always had been.
she’d been stopping by her apartment unannounced, resulting in paige having to hunch over in the closet for fifteen minutes (which the blonde still won’t let her forget), sending thoughtful, but not worth much texts, and even suggesting they spend more time together. but naomi had yet to ask the question that remained unanswered, despite it being the most important: where did they stand? and liana, in turn, didn’t have the answers… so maybe it was a good thing she hadn’t.
“what do you mean?” she asked, faking her innocence with those wide eyes, twirling some more pasta around her fork.
“liana, please spare me!” amara shouted, throwing her hands up in the air in mock surrender as she burst into laughter. her necklace caught the dim light above them, glancing at malik, who already knew what was up, then back at liana, whose quiet demeanor hadn’t gone unnoticed. “you’ve been so unusually quiet tonight, and i know exactly why. it’s because of paige, isn’t it?”
liana’s fork hovered over her plate as she looked up, trying to play it off with a shrug. but amara wasn’t having it.
“doooon’t even try to deny it,” she continued, leaning forward on her elbows. “you didn’t even know her a few weeks ago, and now she’s all you think about. and might i add, she’s paige bueckers of all people. like, i can’t believe my bestfriend is climbing that coconut tree.”
liana began to hide her head in her hands, elbows propped up on the table. “amara!” her smile was infectious, and despite her attempt to scold her friend, she couldn’t help but let it slip. amara grinned back, knowing she had hit a nerve.
“you ever talk to naomi about… all this?” there it was.
liana’s smile faltered for a moment. “not really. i mean, not directly.”
malik raised an eyebrow from his spot across from the two girls. “not directly?” he repeated, clearly not aware. “y’all still haven’t talked?”
liana sighed, her fingers toying with the edge of her napkin. “we’ve talked… but not about this. not about where we’re headed, what we’re doing. she’s trying, but—”
“but it’s not the same,” amara finished for her, her tone softening. “i get it. things got weird after… you know. but maybe talking it out would help.”
liana nodded, though she wasn’t convinced. she knew her friends had their history with naomi too, so it made sense as to why they’d try and help her out, even if it was just a little bit. they were the ones who had introduced them, after all. naomi knew her better than anyone before paige, but now… paige might just be stepping her up.
malik chimed in, swirling his drink lazily, the ice clinking against the glass. his eyes were half-lidded, a sure sign it was time to get out of there before he had one too many. “i’ve never really seen her with any girl. paige, i mean. like, ever. she’s always got that ‘untouchable’ vibe, you know? like she’s too focused on basketball to even bother.”
he wasn’t exactly wrong, and everyone knew it—but liana, seemingly always out of the loop and a homebody for that matter, didn’t. she went in completely blind, only to come out knowing everything. the blonde definitely did have her fun, but liana was indeed different.
amara picked up her own drink, grinning ear to ear. “and yet, she’s in your phone. clearly, you’re the exception.” she was just glad the topic had changed.
liana shrugged, trying to play it cool even though her insides were twisting. “i don’t know about that.”
malik laughed, shaking his head. “nah, you definitely are. trust me.”
liana smiled, a rather lazy one, but her mind was already elsewhere, thinking about paige. she pulled out her phone, her fingers itching to text her. it was almost funny how she hadn’t had any desire to reach out to naomi, like this blonde had swept in and made her forget. they had been messaging on and off throughout the night, nothing serious—just a few jokes, some comments about her day. but now, with the alcohol in her system and the her friends’ words fresh in her brain, she found herself wanting to reach out again.
she unlocked her phone, the screen lighting up with their latest conversation. paige had just sent her a picture of her sneakers—beat-up and covered in scuff marks after hours of practice.
You’re the one with the endorsements, remember?
😂 True, true.
You made it home yet?
liana glanced around the table, watching as malik and amara engaged in a slightly tipsy debate about whatever was on their minds. she smiled to herself before typing out her response.
We’re about to head out and call an Uber soon, so I’ll call you when I get home.
paige’s reply came almost immediately.
Let me come get you.
You’ve had a long day. You don’t need to do all that.
Liana dpmo 😂
You know I wanna see you
I’ll be there in 5.
she hesitated, looking at her friends once again who were now deep in conversation. she laughed softly at the pure absurdity of her situation, sending a quick reply before locking her phone and slipping it back into her pocket. “alright, guys. change of plans. paige is coming to get us.”
amara raised an eyebrow, a teasing smile on her face. “look at that, getting the vip treatment! could get used to this.” she nudged her, eliciting a playful glare from liana who was all around pretty tipsy and ready to go, but the thought of seeing paige tonight made things a little better. maybe she really did have her wrapped around her finger, or she was just lucky. perhaps both.
a few minutes later, they were outside, huddled together against the cool air that november brought. liana spotted paige’s car pulling up, and as the headlights washed over them, she felt her pulse quicken. when the car came to a stop, paige stepped out, rounding the corner and looking effortlessly good in a simple black hoodie and jeans. her hair was tied back in a low bun, and she flashed the three in front of her a smile.
“y’all ready?” paige asked. she hadn’t even looked tired, like she woke herself up for this.
amara blinked up at paige as she approached. “you’re taller in person,” she said, squinting as if trying to confirm it.
“it’s the shoes. but i am all legs,” paige entertained, helping amara into the car before making sure malik was good himself. once everyone was settled, liana climbed into the passenger seat beside paige, who gave her a quick glance as she started to fasten her seatbelt.
the car rumbled to life, and as paige pulled out of the parking lot, the conversation in the backseat continued, but liana found herself more focused on the subtle shifts in paige’s demeanor—the way her fingers drummed lightly on the steering wheel, the small smirk that lingered on her lips. she was nervous. or anticipating something.
the rest of the car ride was pretty silent as malik and amara’s laughter and voices gradually faded into sleepy murmurs in the backseat, neither paige nor liana wanting to break it, knowing there were things better left unsaid while her friends were still in the car. even though, with the way amara was slumped against the door and malik’s head was tilted back, they probably wouldn’t have acknowledged or remembered much of anything by morning.
paige had her elbow leaned against the door, fingers stroking her chin as she drove with her opposite hand. it was a casual, almost absent-minded gesture, but it still held liana’s attention. she tried not to stare, but the small bit of alcohol she’d had made it harder to care. she seemed deep in thought—her eyes fixed on the road but her mind clearly elsewhere.
when they finally arrived at the dorms, liana turned in her seat to make sure her friends were okay to walk themselves. malik was already half out of the car, mumbling something incoherent as he navigated his way to the door. amara followed behind him, offering a tired wave to paige’s cracked window as she mumbled, “thanks for the ride, superstar.”
the blonde chuckled, waiting a few before pulling off. liana’s apartment was a bit of a ride from campus, but she found it less hectic to have her own space. “still can’t believe paige bueckers made time for me tonight,” liana said softly, almost teasingly, as she let her eyes wander wherever they wanted to go.
paige glanced over at her, one eyebrow raised in jocularity. “i always make time for you.” she hesitated, letting her shuffled music play through the car for a brief moment. “a four hour practice today, and i couldn’t resist seeing you before tomorrow.” and it was true. between all the practices, the games, and everything else pulling her in different directions, she had still made time for liana.
paige was used to getting what she wanted. not that she ever had to really try, it just happened. so the fact that liana was toying with her, in knowing of it or not, fully and completely messed with her brain. on the court, she could control the game, dictate the pace, and make split-second decisions that would leave her opponents scrambling. off the court, it wasn’t much different. with liana, she thought she’d be able to break her barriers down from the moment their first tutoring session ended, and she did in a way, but there was one that still needed to be tore down, and the fact that it wasn’t exactly easy frustrated her… because the barrier was a person, and a person is a hard obstacle.
the thought of liana’s smile, her laugh, the way she’d tilt her head slightly when she was really listening… it all made paige crave her more. the little things. and knowing that naomi had access to that and much more before she’d even met her, made her blood boil. yes, maybe they weren’t exactly together, but her teammates had really gotten into her head about the history thing, and the truth was, it did matter. it made things complicated. made it so that paige couldn’t just step in and take what she wanted without consequence. without someone getting hurt.
the conversation shifted, liana going on about her day as she leaned against the headrest. she made sure to leave out conversation details, but when paige was comfortable, she was one to prodde… and let’s just say blondie is already real comfortable.
“so, you didn’t talk about me?” paige pressed, her tone light and all-around teasing. normal.
liana’s usual wide eyes were lower and more lidded tonight, meeting paige’s with a growing smile. “is that so hard to believe?”
paige laughed, shaking her head. “it’s hard to believe because it isn’t true.”
they shared a look before liana looked away, rolling her eyes. the blonde licked her lips, stroking her chin once again as she thought about the next question. the one she really wanted to ask.
“talk about naomi, too?” paige asked casually, trying to keep her voice steady, almost as if it didn’t matter to her.
liana’s smile faltered slightly, and paige noticed. that small hesitation, the brief change in her expression—it told her more than words ever could. paige had learned that she was bad at hiding that. it made her think about how long she could keep this from naomi.
“yeah, a little,” liana admitted, her voice softening as she glanced out the window. her mind flashed to the conversation she’d had with amara and malik earlier. the part where naomi had been brought up and dissected, the part she’d deliberately left out when talking to paige just now.
the taller girl’s grip tightened a tad on the steering wheel, not purposefully… almost instinct. of course she did.
paige hesitated for a moment, choosing her next words carefully. she didn’t want to push too hard, but the question had been on her mind for a while, lingering in the background of their conversations. it finally slipped out, almost too casual, yet loaded with everything she was feeling.
“have you?”
it was a vague and simple question, but it required a longer response.
liana turned her head away from the window, her eyes narrowing slightly as she faced her. “why, paige?” her tone was a little sharper, mainly because she didn’t expect paige to force this type of reply out of her. she knew what she was getting at, but she wasn’t about to make it easy for her.
paige let out a breathy, frustrated laugh, shaking her head. “man…” she stopped herself in attempt not to raise her voice. “you gon’ fix that attitude around me, liana. i’m just askin’. just wanna know if… y’know… if she came up. that’s all.” her was on the road, but liana could see the way she subtly shifted in her seat, her knee angling outward as she manspreaded just slightly.
liana’s jaw tightened, and suddenly the dashboard was the most interesting thing ever. “you already know the answer.” her voice was a mumble, and you can believe she indeed fixed that attitude after being asked.
paige’s lips pressed into a thin line, running a hand down her face. “aight, cool. just makin’ sure.” she tried to brush it off, masking it as that being the only thing she wanted out of her question as they pulled up in front of liana’s place.
the car fell into silence, the engine the only sound being heard as paige shifted into park. she leaned back in her seat, exhaling slowly, trying to cool down atleast a little bit before either of them spoke. she clasped her hands together in the area her open legs left her, gazing down. she hated feeling like this—out of control. because although she was upset, there wasn’t much she could do about it.
liana sighed herself, uncomfortable with the tension their words had brought. the situation had sobered her just enough as she unbuckled her seatbelt, but didn’t move to get out. instead, she looked over at paige, her expression soft. “you really want me to stay clear of naomi?”
paige turned her head, meeting liana’s eyes with a quickness. that was all she wanted, she just knew she couldn’t be the one to say it. “i mean… i ain’t gonna lie, it’d be nice. but you grown. do what you want.”
“shut up.” liana rolled her eyes at the nonchalant act, a small smile tugging at her lips. “you and your half-ass answers.”
paige chuckled. it seemed like her smile was enough to make her forget about everything as she reached out to brush a stray curl from liana’s face. “nah, i’m serious, though. i just—” her voice trailed off, and liana could see the conflict in her eyes, tilting her head a little as if daring her to finish her sentence. let her be vulnerable.
before she could overthink it, liana leaned in, her lips brushing against paige’s, testing the waters. the blonde responded instantly, her hand sliding to liana’s neck, holding it gently as she deepened the kiss. the intensity spiked, eyebrows furrowed as they attempted to devour every bit of each other, heads leaning in opposite directions.
liana shifted, climbing over the center console and straddling paige’s lap which had become her designated spot at this point, her fingers sprawled out on her shoulders. paige groaned, her hands gripping liana’s hips as she pulled her closer, glancing down at where their bodies met. the kiss turned hungrier, more desperate.
paige’s hands roamed over liana’s body, exploring the curve of her waist before slipping down to her ass, squeezing possessively. she immediately got back to work, using her hand to tilt her head to the side for better access to her neck. liana gasped softly when she felt paige’s lips linger in one spot, then the slight sting of her teeth as she bit down gently, marking her up.
“p, did you just leave a hickey?” liana asked, completely breathless as she touched the marks on her neck.
“mmhm. a few, baby.” her voice was a low murmur, but the girl atop her had managed to make it out. she trailed her lips back up to liana’s catching her mouth in another kiss. the car felt like it was getting smaller, and definitely hotter. liana’s hands moved up under paige’s hoodie, fingers brushing over her abs before reaching her breasts. paige groaned into the kiss, her breath hitching at her touch. she was being drove to the absolute edge with this girl.
her grip on liana tightened, pulling her even closer, and the kiss deepened, both of them losing themselves in the moment, as if nothing else existed outside of that car. but then liana pulled back slightly, her breathing ragged, her eyes shifting between paige’s eyes and lips. “‘m gonna tell her.”
paige blinked, momentarily disoriented by the sudden shift in conversation. “what?”
“naomi,” liana clarified, glancing down at her hands. “i’m gonna talk to her. end it,” she repeated more clearly.
paige’s heart pounded in her chest, and she wasn’t sure how to feel. was it really that easy, all she had to do was ask? she didn’t respond right away, just kissed her harder, almost like she was sealing the promise between them. liana responded just as eagerly, fingers curling into the fabric of paige’s hoodie as if she needed to hold on to something solid.
it was only when they both pulled back for what felt like the millionth time that night to talk, breathless and flushed, that liana realized paige had whispered something else—something she couldn’t quite make out. she opened her mouth to ask, but paige was already leaning back, her eyes searching liana’s face. “can i come up?” her voice was softer now, hesitant.
liana hesitated herself, stopping her movements. since ted’s they’d done a lot, clearly, but had never really took it all the way. she wasn’t sure paige was even aware of why. she needed more time.
“not tonight.” she saw a look of slight disappointment on the blonde’s face, and made sure to add that it would be soon. they’d need to find a right time, and right now, while there were still some things to sort out, it wouldn’t have been good.
paige chuckled, nodding against the headrest. “alright. soon.”

getting what she wants
lena oberdorf x oc x USWNT!reader
part one of five
summary: lena knows she gets what she wants
warnings: cheating, angst, 18+ (smut? not too detailed and mostly suggestive)
oc description here
you and your girlfriend had always been complicated—never simple, never easy.
it started back in 2021 when you and sloan played at psg. the chemistry on the field between you two was undeniable, but off the field, it was a different story.
the beginning wasn’t so bad, though. she caught feelings for you shortly after she went through a breakup, but you didn’t think much of it. you were happy that someone was interested in you, someone as gorgeous as sloan.
if you were to tell anyone about it now, you'd say it wasn’t the worst relationship, but it definitely wasn’t the best either.
sloan was magnetic, and in those early days, you were drawn to her like everyone else was drawn to her. the older woman was a fierce defender in paris, while you were a threatening midfielder that scared the defenders on the opposite team.
the woman would pull you in, wrap you up in her intensity, and you’d get lost in the way she’d look at you, the way she’d run up to you if you took a hit on the pitch– it was like you were her whole world. and for a while, it felt like you were.
savannah was always there, in the background, but you didn’t mind. you played with both of them on the united states national team, and savannah never seemed like a threat.
she was just part of the past with sloan—something you didn't think twice about. you had bigger things to worry about, like football, your career. you weren’t the type to get jealous over old exs that your girlfriend had.
things shifted in 2022 when you left for bayern munich, after you spent three seasons with PSG.
the move was huge for you. it was a chance to grow, to focus on your game in another league, and push yourself to new heights.
sloan went back to the states, joining portland thorns. her contract didn’t expire with PSG but she didn’t want to stay if you weren’t there.
the long distance was rough, but you both promised to make it work. you'd have late-night calls, texting between training sessions, and sending each other pictures of your day, trying to stay connected despite the time zone difference.
but then, overtime, you started noticing things.
small, subtle shifts. the first time sloan told you that her and savannah texting again. at first, you were alarmed until sloan told you that savannah, who played for louisville, was going to go up against the thorns in the NWSL that week.
you told yourself it was nothing. they’d known each other forever; of course, they'd stay in touch. your mind brushed it off, telling yourself that your trust in sloan was stronger than whatever history she had with savannah.
but it didn’t take long for sophia, your friend on the national team who played at the same club as sloan, to notice.
during one of your national team camps, the ones against china in florida, she pulled you aside, a concerned look on her face.
“have you talked to sloan recently?” she asked, her tone light but her eyes searching.
“yeah, of course,” you replied, a little confused by her question.
“why?”
sloan was still recovering from an ACL injury, so her club and national team agreed to have the 26 year old play for only portland games for now. she wasn’t called up for the national team so you couldn’t see her this time in the states.
sophia sighs in hesitation,
“i don’t want to stir anything up, but sloan was showing me some tiktok on her phone unaware that um...well,, i saw some messages. between her and savannah. they seemed kinda... i don’t know, close?”
you felt your stomach drop, but you forced a laugh.
“it’s nothing. they’re just friends.” you convinced yourself.
“just be careful, okay?” sophia didn’t look convinced.
you nodded, but that seed of doubt had already been planted.
later that night, you couldn’t stop thinking about it. the way sloan’s messages had become more distant, the way she’d brush off your questions with a quick “i’m just busy babe” or “practice has been rough.” you tried to push it down, telling yourself it was all in your head.
until one day, you couldn’t anymore.
a few weeks later, you were scrolling through your phone after a long training session in germany when you saw it. videos.
they were everywhere—sloan and savannah, out at some club in portland, laughing, dancing, and way too close for comfort. the headlines were brutal, and your stomach twisted into knots as you scrolled through the comments, people speculating about what was going on between them.
you couldn’t breathe.
immediately, you dialed sloan’s number, your fingers shaking as you waited for her to pick up.
you had to run into your living room, since lea and georgia were staying over your house and were sleeping in the guest room beside your bedroom. there was no way that you would wake them up, even in this condition.
“hey, babe,” she answered casually, as if nothing had happened.
“what the FUCK, sloan?” your voice cracked, the anger and hurt pouring out all at once.
there was a pause on the other end, just long enough to make you feel even worse.
“it’s not what it looks like,” she finally said, her voice too calm, too rehearsed.
“it sure as hell doesn’t look good,” you shot back.
“you’re out partying with savannah? after you told me there was nothing going on?”
sloan sighed.
“i told you, it’s nothing. we just went out for drinks with our teams. it’s not a big deal.”
“not a big deal?” you couldn’t believe what you were hearing.
“sloan, everyone’s talking about it. you’re all over the news. do you even realize how this makes me look? do you know how this makes YOU look?”
you hated how much you still cared about her and her image. of course everyone on the internet was dragging sloan’s name through the filth for your defense.
“you’re overreacting. savannah’s just a friend who happens to be my ex too. you need to stop letting other people get into your head.” sloan said, annoyed.
but you couldn’t calm down. how could you? not when the entire world had just seen your girlfriend getting close with her ex like it was nothing.
your heart ached, torn between the love you still had for sloan and the anger bubbling inside you.
“i can’t believe you,” you whispered, tears stinging your eyes.
“i trusted you!”
“and i haven’t done anything to break that trust,” sloan shot back, her voice harder now.
“look, if you don’t trust me, that’s on you. i can’t control how people perceive things.”
you hung up the phone without another word, your chest heavy, the pain sinking deeper with every passing second.
as you collapsed onto the ground, you felt a pair of arms catch you. the vanilla scent of the person’s chest told you that it was lea schuller hugging you as you cried.
weeks afterwards– you threw yourself into training, trying to ignore the hurt, the betrayal. but it lingered, gnawing at you, distracting you during every practice, every match. no matter how hard you tried to focus, your mind kept wandering back to sloan, to those videos, to the lies.
you couldn’t go to the states to confront her, and that only made it worse. you were stuck, miles away, helpless.
many months later, it's July 1st 2024. despite everything—the distance, the arguments, the emotional drain—you and sloan were still together.
maybe it was the comfort of it all, the familiarity. you’d been with her for so long that the thought of letting go felt impossible. breaking up seemed like more effort than just sticking it out.
even if things weren’t great, they weren’t unbearable. or at least, that’s what you kept telling yourself.
sloan wasn’t seen with her ex again. in fact, she never mentioned savannah again, and you didn’t ask. but the tension hung between you like a fog, thick and ever-present. every time you checked social media, every time her name came up in conversation, your stomach would knot up, the unease always lingering. but nothing ever changed.
after each conversation with sloan, you felt empty. like a weight had been lifted, but at the same time, it left a hollow space inside you. the next few days passed in a blur.
you threw yourself into training, desperate to block out the pain, but even football wasn’t the escape it usually was.
that’s when lena oberdorf started showing up in your life. she’d recently moved to bayern from wolfsburg, and though you’d played against her plenty of times, you never really knew her well. she was fierce on the pitch, strong and confident.
in fact, you had a perception of her since you fell victim to her side tackles on many, many occasions. but you started to notice lena’s behavior around you after training, she was different—softer, a little shy even.
it started with small things. lena would linger after practice, making conversation, asking how you were doing.
at first, you chalked it up to her being friendly, trying to settle into her new team and make friends outside of the ones she knew from the national team.
a week later, before the national break that will lead into the olympics– training was going well. your focus was locked in on the drills as the team worked through possession exercises.
everything felt sharp, crisp. your legs were taking you towards the goal until georgia came in hard, a tackle from the side catching your leg at an awkward angle. you hit the ground hard, a sharp pain shooting through your ankle.
“y/n!” you heard georgia’s voice above the ringing in your ears as she stands up from the ground.
“shit shit shit!!! i’m so sorry. i didn’t mean to—”
before she could finish, lena was already by your side, practically sprinting over from the other side of the field.
she dropped to her knees next to you, her hands immediately on your shoulders.
“are you okay? where does it hurt?” lena’s voice was frantic, her eyes wide with concern as she looked you over, clearly scanning for any sign of serious injury.
“i’m fine, lena,” you muttered, trying to sit up.
“just... give me a sec.” the pain wasn’t as bad as you first thought. it was more of a shock than anything.
lena wasn’t having it.
“you don’t look fine,” she insisted, gently pushing you back down as you tried to get up.
“you should stay down for a bit. what if it’s worse than you think?”
georgia hovered nearby, an apologetic look on her face. “i didn’t mean to go in that hard. really, i’m sorry, y/n.”
“what the hell, georgia? you didn’t have to go in on her like that—it’s training, not a match!” lena shot her a glare, her protective streak kicking in immediately.
“i know, i know,” georgia said, holding up her hands in surrender.
“i was just going for the ball, i didn’t mean to hurt her.”
you could see the tension building between the two of them,
lena getting more worked up than necessary. it wasn’t the first time lena had gotten overprotective over you, but this was definitely one of the more intense moments. you placed a hand on her arm, trying to calm her down.
“lena, seriously, i’m fine. it’s not a big deal.”
but she wasn’t having it. “no, it is a big deal. she should’ve been more careful.”
georgia rolled her eyes but kept her distance, clearly not wanting to escalate things. the rest of the team had started to gather around, watching the scene unfold with a mixture of concern and amusement.
“she’s tough, lena,” georgia said with a small smile, trying to diffuse the situation.
“she’s not made of glass.” you wanted to giggle after georgia said that, but you didn’t want to piss off a protective lena.
“maybe, but that doesn’t mean you can just throw her to the ground,” lena snapped back, still kneeling beside you, her hands hovering protectively around you like she was scared you might fall apart any second.
"you're one to talk about putting people on the ground!" georgia says before laughing at lena's smirk, a smirk she tried to hide knowing that georgia is right.
the team, noticing the bickering, started exchanging looks.
a few stifled laughs could be heard, and you knew exactly what was coming.
“uh, lena?” tuva called out from behind you, a teasing grin on her face. “y/n is okay.”
tuva pulls lena, gently, away from you as you stand up. your ankle is sore but not painful. you were okay.
“you do realize y/n’s taken, right?” lea whispered to lena, but you still heard it.
you groaned inwardly, knowing exactly where this was headed.
“yeah, lena, i don’t think her girlfriend would be too happy about all this... care you’re giving y/n,” giulia added, her voice dripping with amusement.
lena flushed, her cheeks turning a shade of red you hadn’t seen before. she quickly stood up, brushing off her shorts, though she still hovered close to you, as if she wasn’t quite ready to leave your side.
“i’m just making sure she’s okay,” lena muttered, avoiding everyone’s eyes.
you couldn’t help but laugh a little despite the situation. “lena, seriously, i’m fine. you don’t need to go full paramedic on me. besides guys, you don’t have to mention her while we are here”
“oh!” sydney says, laughing.
the teasing continued, the team now fully enjoying the spectacle.
“she’s going full-on protective mode, isn’t she?” pernille chuckled, giving lena a nudge.
“you’ve got it bad, oberdorf.” madga joins.
“it’s just concern,” lena muttered, clearly embarrassed now, trying to avoid the teasing looks being thrown her way.
you finally managed to walk, rolling your ankle a bit to check for any real damage. again, it was sore, but nothing too serious. you were fine—like you’d been saying all along.
“see? i told you. i’m okay.”
“well, that’s a relief,” lena mumbled, though the look of worry in her eyes hadn’t completely disappeared. she stood a little closer than necessary, and the team noticed.
they noticed how you let her stay close to you too.
“yeah, ‘relief,’” georgia echoed, shaking her head in amusement.
“seriously though, y/n’s fine. no need to be so protective, lena—- i’m sorry y/n.”
the teasing continued as the team dispersed, but lena stayed near you, still looking a little flustered.
“i just didn’t want her to be hurt,” she said quietly, her voice barely above a whisper.
you gave her a soft smile, appreciating her concern, even if it was a little overboard.
“i know. but it’s okay. i’m tougher than i look.”
lena saw lea’s smile turn into a quick frown at that, she makes a mental note to question her best friend about that later.
after that morning in training, you began to notice the way lena looked at you. there was something more in her eyes, something you hadn’t picked up on before.
the next day, after a tough session, you were sitting on the sidelines, catching your breath, when lena plopped down beside you.
“you okay?” she asked, her voice gentle, her eyes scanning your face.
you nodded, forcing a smile. “yeah, just tired.”
but lena wasn’t convinced. “i’ve noticed you’ve been... off lately. is it sloan?”
lena asked lea why you seemed off. lea told her the backstory about your relationship with the portland thorn’s defender. she did her own research afterwards, realizing how bad it really was.
the mention of sloan’s name made your stomach twist. you didn’t want to talk about her, not now, not ever.
“it’s complicated.”
lena hesitated for a moment, then quietly said,
“you don’t deserve what she is putting you through, y/n. you deserve someone who’s going to put you first.”
you glanced at her, surprised by the intensity in her words. there was something in the way she said it, the quiet conviction, that made you pause.
“it’s not that simple,” you mumbled, looking down at the ground.
“we’ve been together for so long, and— i don’t know.”
“maybe that’s the problem,” lena said, her voice soft but firm.
“maybe you’ve been holding on to something that’s already gone.”
you didn’t respond. you couldn’t, because deep down, you knew she was right. sloan wasn’t fighting for you anymore, and maybe she never had.
lena stayed by your side for the rest of the day, offering silent support.
and as the days went on, her presence became something you looked forward to—her quiet smiles, her easy laughter, the way she’d stick around just to make sure you were okay.
it wasn’t long before you started noticing the little things she did for you. bringing you coffee before training, giving you rides home, offering to help with your recovery sessions after each training.
it was subtle, but there was a certain care in everything she did, something you hadn’t felt from sloan in a long time.
one afternoon, the last training before the national break for the olympics, lena comes up to you after the showers.
“hey, you want to grab dinner?” she asked casually, but there was something in her tone that made your heart race a little faster.
“uh, yeah, sure,” you replied, caught off guard.
you ended up at a quiet restaurant, tucked away from the usual chaos.
over dinner, lena was different. more open, more confident. she asked about your life, your interests outside of football, and for the first time in a while, you found yourself genuinely enjoying someone’s company.
halfway through the meal, she leaned back in her chair, her eyes locking onto yours.
“y/n, can i be honest with you?”
your heart skipped a beat. “of course.”
“I've been attracted to you for a long time,” she admitted, her cheeks flushing slightly.
“since before you moved to bayern. but i didn’t want to say anything because... well, i knew you were with sloan.”
you blinked, taken aback by her confession. “you... have?”
she nodded, her gaze unwavering. “yeah. but i’ve been watching how things have been going with you two, and... i just want you to know that you deserve someone who’s going to treat you better. someone who has respect for you.”
you stared at her, not sure how to respond. it wasn’t that you hadn’t noticed lena’s growing presence in your life, but hearing her say it out loud, admitting her feelings so openly, was something you hadn’t expected.
“lena, i...” you started, but the words got stuck in your throat. you didn’t know what to say. part of you was still reeling from sloan, from the hurt and confusion that came with it.
but another part of you—a part you hadn’t allowed yourself to acknowledge—felt something for lena too. something more.
she must’ve sensed your hesitation because she quickly added, “i’m not trying to pressure you or anything. i just wanted you to know how i feel. whatever happens, i’m here for you liebe. no matter what.”
her words hung in the air, heavy with meaning, and for the first time in weeks, you felt a glimmer of hope. maybe lena was right. maybe you did deserve more.
as the night went on, you found yourself relaxing in her presence, the tension from your relationship with sloan slowly easing away.
it was different with lena—easier, lighter. and when she walked you back to your apartment later that night, there was a moment where she hesitated, standing on the doorstep, her eyes flicking to your lips.
you could’ve kissed her. part of you wanted to.
“thanks for tonight,” you whispered, your voice soft.
lena smiled, her expression gentle. “anytime, y/n. i’m always here for you.”
something in the air had shifted after she said that, leaving only the quiet between you two.
lena was standing just a little too close, her gaze a little too intense, and you could feel the weight of everything unsaid hanging in the space between you.
her eyes flickered down to your lips again, and for a moment, she seemed to freeze. your heart pounded in your chest as the silence stretched on, each second amplifying the tension between you both.
you couldn’t tear your gaze away from her, drawn in by the way she was looking at you, the unspoken desire clear in her eyes.
the way she cares for you, the way you’ve been burying your attraction for her. It was too much. you wanted her.
your mind was racing—everything with sloan, the mess of your relationship, how complicated it all was.
but in that moment, none of it mattered. not with lena looking at you like that.
you made the first move, your body acting on instinct before your brain could catch up.
leaning in slowly, tentatively, you closed the gap between you, your lips barely brushing hers at first.
you paused, just for a second, giving her the chance to pull away if she wanted to. but she didn’t.
the second lena kissed you back, everything else melted away. her lips met yours with a sudden intensity, all the built-up tension finally spilling over.
her hands were on you in an instant, one sliding to the back of your neck, the other finding your waist, pulling you closer as the kiss deepened.
it wasn’t gentle—not by any means. there was an urgency in the way she kissed you, and the way you kissed her. she’d been holding back for far too long, and now that the floodgates were open, there was no going back.
you responded in kind, your hands gripping the front of her hoodie, pulling her even closer as you kissed her harder, your body pressing against hers.
lena’s hand slipped under the hem of your shirt, her fingers warm against your skin as they traced the curve of your waist, making you shiver.
the feeling of her touch sent a jolt of electricity through you, your heart racing even faster. your lips moved against hers in sync, the kiss growing more heated by the second, both of you caught up in the intensity of the moment.
you broke apart for a brief second, both of you gasping for air, but the space between you barely lasted a heartbeat before lena’s lips were on yours again, even more desperate than before. her body pressed into yours, pushing you gently against the door, and you welcomed the pressure, your hands finding their way into her hair, tugging just enough to earn a quiet groan from her.
“lena,” you breathed against her lips, not even sure what you were trying to say, if anything at all. her name came out like a plea, like you were drowning in her and needed more, but didn’t know how to ask for it.
“y/n,” she murmured back, her voice low and husky, her breath hot against your skin as she kissed along your jaw, trailing down to your neck.
the sensation sent a shiver down your spine, your knees going weak as you clung to her, desperate to stay grounded in the overwhelming rush of feelings.
her hand gripped your waist tighter, holding you against her as her lips moved across your skin, finding every sensitive spot that made you gasp, your fingers tightening in her hair as you struggled to keep up with the intensity of it all.
you weren’t thinking about sloan anymore, or the complications that would come from this. all that mattered was the way lena was making you feel—the way her lips felt on yours, the way her touch set your skin on fire.
and when lena pulled back just enough to look at you, her eyes dark and filled with something raw, something intense, you knew there was no going back.
you reached your left hand behind your body, keeping your right on lena’s waist, as you unlocked the door.
pulling the taller woman inside, you didn’t think twice before taking her into your bedroom.
the sex was amazing. its been nearly 18 months since you last tine you’ve did anything, thanks to your long distance relationship.
the girl back in portland didn’t come across your mind once. just the moment between you, the girl who's sleeping in your arms, and the fact that you’ll have a flight back to the states for national duty in the morning.

Sobs shook your body as you walked the darkened streets on your way back home.
You felt so stupid. He wasn’t even your boyfriend, just a cute boy who was nice to you, yet you’d grown so attached that just seeing him kiss someone else was enough to send you spiraling.
When you got home you told Heejin everything, and she did her best to comfort you, though it didn’t help much. You were so bitter, too, that of all people, it was Sumin. She was friends with him, and obviously had a thing for him, but ever since that first day it seemed he wasn’t into her like that. Maybe he’d been drunk, but even then, it stung more than you ever could’ve anticipated.
It was early morning by the time you cried yourself to sleep, granting you some peace, at least until you woke up.
Of course Baekhyun didn’t see any issue with what had happened, and kept texting you throughout the rest of the weekend, but you didn’t have the heart to respond to anything. It was mostly just memes, he would often send you things he thought were funny, and usually you loved it, but now, it made you feel even worse.
Sunday evening when you still didn’t feel any better you finally did text him back, though it was only to tell him that he didn’t need to walk with you the next day. You’d have to face him later during class, but hugging him and walking with him didn’t feel like something you could handle.
You expected him to sit with Sumin when the time came, but he didn’t, taking his usual seat next to you.
“Is everything okay?” He asked, “Why didn’t you want me to walk you today?”
You just shrugged, trying way too hard to steady your voice despite the lump rising in your throat. “I've kind of missed walking and listening to music, and there's some albums I've been wanting to catch up on.”
It was an obvious lie, but it was all you could come up with in the moment. He nodded, but by the look on his face, he could tell something wasn’t right with you. From your seat next to him you could sense the uneasiness, the tension, now that he knew you weren't being truthful. Concentrating on the lecture wasn’t possible, and Baekhyun, too, seemed disengaged, lost in thought. Thoughts about you, without a doubt.
For an hour you both faced the professor, knowing well that neither was paying any real attention.
When he asked if he could at least walk you home, you made up another lie, saying that you were meeting Heejin elsewhere on campus later.
He was quieter than usual for the rest of class. You knew he'd be at your dorm again in the morning, and you wanted to make something up to keep him away, but you just couldn't do it. He was still your friend, and already seemed plenty bummed with how things were.
You kept waiting for him to turn around and say something flirty to Sumin, but he didn't speak to her at all for the entire class. It didn't make much sense to you, but it was a bit of a relief. At least you wouldn't have to see them constantly doting on each other. Maybe it really had just been one drunk kiss, but even then, the mental image of it was burned into the back of your mind and brought with it an unbearable ache in your chest.
Every time he'd ‘flirt’ with you, it just reopened the wound, so you decided that you would avoid even giving him the chance.
That next morning was what did it for you. Maybe he’d already sensed the way you were starting to withdraw, because he was even sweeter than usual. The hug was tighter and lasted longer, and he told you how pretty your hair looked, that he loved your sweater, and even the perfume you wore. You didn’t say much, since you were too busy trying not to cry in front of him.
His hand would often brush against your own, as it always did, only that morning, he actually held on for a second. Until you pulled your hand away, crossing your arms over your chest. After that, he was quiet. He didn’t hug you when you got to class, and the absence of his arms surrounding you made the early morning air feel empty and dull.
You made up more excuses as to why he didn’t need to walk with you, and eventually, he stopped asking.
He still sat with you during class, though he wouldn’t say much, not unless you talked to him first, which rarely happened. It was weird to you that he didn’t talk to his friends, either, Sumin included.
A week passed like that, and finally you thought that maybe you were starting to get over him. That same day, however, he stopped you when you were about to leave the building on your way home.
He’d been walking just a few steps behind you when you felt his hand on your wrist. He stopped, and so did you, giving him a confused look. He tugged you down a hallway, where there was a bit more privacy.
He gazed down at you, swallowing, his concerned frown making your heart lurch into your esophagus.
He took a deep breath before asking, “Why are you pushing me away? Did I do something wrong?”
His voice shook slightly as he said it, which didn't help your condition at all. You continued to stare, wordlessly.
“I miss you.” He added.
I miss you too!!
You wanted to scream it, but nothing came out. You missed him so badly, you could hardly get yourself to class anymore, dragging what felt like a hollow shell from one campus building to the next, until finally collapsing back into your dorm, day after tiresome day. You were miserable, and it was written clearly on his face, he was too.
“Sorry, you didn’t do anything, I just.. Want to focus on studying. I’m sorry.”
Somehow, his face fell even more. If he was miserable before, you’d somehow managed to make him feel worse.
He knew you were lying, for whatever reason. He wanted to call you out, to demand you just be honest, but the desperate way you looked at him told him not to. The weight of so many unspoken words hung thickly in the air, until it became too much. You turned and walked away, leaving him standing there, alone and confused.
Part of you had wanted him to press on, to insist you tell him the truth. Maybe if he made you say it, it wouldn’t be so bad, but you also imagined the rejection. He would be extremely nice about it, of course. He’d probably apologize for making it seem like he was more interested than he actually was, that he just liked complimenting people and making them smile, but it was nothing more than that. Somehow, though, that would be even worse. If he was an asshole about it, at least you’d be able to get over him quicker.
The walk back home was bleak, silent, and lonely, with neither him nor your music lending you some company. Most of the songs on your playlist were likely to make you cry, and keeping the tears at bay was all that seemed to matter.
As soon as you were back in your room you let it all out, sobbing into your pillows at how broken he’d looked. Ruining your friendship with him, without being able to tell him why, was cruel, and you knew it. The guilt that came with that might’ve been the worst part of all.
The next day in class, he sat with his friends again.
But as the days went on, something about him felt different. He wasn't his usual bright, bubbly self that you'd fallen for so easily. He didn't joke around as much, or even really talk unless someone asked him something.
You did your best to just focus on class, but he always made his way back into your thoughts, given the proximity. You still missed him, and occasionally at the beginning or end of class you'd meet eyes. He always smiled, and so would you, but that was the extent of your interactions.
Days turned into weeks, and you expected him to lighten back up again eventually, but he never did.
On your way to and from classes you listened to music, usually songs that reminded you of him and how he made you feel, both during the good times, and more recently. Whatever it was, it entered your brain through the speakers of those amazing headphones he’d so generously gifted you.
You’d see him outside of class every now and then, and he would still smile and greet his friends, but he always looked a little down. The light in him that had always shone so brightly now dimmed to a mere flicker, as if a small rain cloud permanently hovered over him.
You wanted to ask him why, worried that he could be going through something terrible. He never said much about his family, but you assumed it had something to do with them. You wanted to be there for him, even if just as a friend, but the heartbreak you knew you’d feel kept you away.
Others noticed it, too. Heejin told you about her friends, and how they worried about him, wondering why he didn’t talk to and flirt with them the way he used to. They all insisted that he must’ve been hung up on another girl, which only made you feel worse. Heejin often insisted that it must be you, but you didn’t believe her. If he really had feelings for you, he wouldn’t have kissed another girl, knowing you were at the same party.
Whatever it was, you hoped he'd be able to get past it. You still only wanted the best for him. Even if only from afar, you kept an eye on him, wondering what was wrong and when he'd finally be able to return to his former self, the bright, shining artist you fell for so easily.
Though finals were still a few weeks away, you threw yourself into your studies, needing something to distract yourself. Getting over Baekhyun was proving to be much much harder than you thought possible. Your grades came first, and it did help, at least until you were done for the day and had nothing better to ruminate about. Falling asleep had become a chore, and when possible, you slept on the living room couch, passing out to some movie or show.
It was during one of your usual afternoon study sessions that a loud voice pulled you out of it.
“Y/n!” Heejin shouted.
“Yeah? What is it?”
“Come here!”
You groaned, having just gotten settled in at your desk with a good snack.
You dragged yourself into the hallway where you stared at her unnervingly excited expression, before she ran to her room, leaving you standing there perplexed as you stared at her door.
You heard someone clear their throat, and stepped into the common area. The front door was open.
It was Baekhyun. He stood in the doorway, a bouquet of flowers in hand, and a nervous look on his handsome face.
A sharp intake of breath. Disbelief crept its way through your body, making its way into every last piece of your psyche.
You couldn't move, let alone speak.
“Hi, Y/n.” He spoke in a voice so soft, it almost got lost with the warm breeze that flowed in from behind him.
“Wh- What are you doing?” You finally got out, barely above a whisper. Unlike his, your voice, however soft it may have been, was clear, too sharp to miss. With trembling hands, and legs you feared could give out at any moment, you stepped closer. You moved slowly, worrying that if you were too quick, you’d disrupt the mirage of him in your doorway, that he would disappear into thin air.
He didn’t disappear. The closer you inched, the more vivid he became.
His eyes were glued to the flowers he held, hands fidgeting with them tirelessly.
“I know you've been ignoring me, for whatever reason, and I probably just look like a huge idiot to you right now, but I like you. A lot. Even if you don't want to talk to me anymore, I want you to know that.”
It didn’t make sense, but you knew you’d heard him correctly.
“You… like me?”
Finally his eyes met yours and he nodded, extending one arm to hand you the flowers. “A lot. And I thought you liked me back, I’d been thinking about how to tell you how I feel, but then you stopped letting me walk with you and wouldn’t text me back, or talk to me, and I just really, really, miss you. I still don’t understand why or what happened, but I know how I feel and I had to tell you, on the off chance you might still feel the same way.”
His voice was shaky, as was his breathing. The threat of tears in his eyes brought about your own, heart shattered to pieces at the sight of his fragile state. The same features you’d grown to love for their kindness, their lack of rude judgements, now appeared so unsure. You took the flowers.
“But.. What about Sumin?”
“Huh?”
His expression changed completely, brows furrowed in confusion. He was caught off guard, without a doubt. Still, you wondered if he really didn’t know what you were talking about.
“I saw you kissing her, at your friend's birthday.”
His eyes went wide, face pale, and after taking some time to register and process your words he began to try to explain himself. “I don’t remember that, I mean- I don’t remember a lot of that night, I blacked out, not that that’s any excuse, but I don’t like Sumin like that at all. I don’t know how that happened, seriously.”
“Really?”
He quickly nodded, “You’re the one I’d been looking forward to seeing that night. I kept telling myself that I’d finally confess how I felt, and I ended up drinking way too much cause I was so nervous. When you stopped talking to me, I thought that I came onto you too strong while I was blacked out or something, and you didn’t feel the same way so you cut me off. At first I thought maybe I could eventually get over you, but I can’t, you’re all I think about. I just miss you so fucking bad.”
He was rambling, out of breath, eyes glassy. You were crying too, though they weren’t entirely tears of sadness. You hated to see him so hurt, that was half of it, without a doubt, but the euphoria of knowing he liked you back bubbled up with force, tears of joy mixing themselves into a mess of confused happiness and grief.
You couldn’t think straight anyway, so you let your heart take over. The flowers were tossed aside, and you tugged on his hand, arms wrapping tightly around him.
“I missed you too, I just like you so much, when I saw you kiss her back that night, it wrecked me. I didn’t want to push you away, I just couldn’t stand how sweet you’d be, thinking you could never see me that way.”
You felt him relax into your embrace, all of his fear and doubt melting into nothingness now that you finally told him what he’d been hoping to hear. He held you tighter, repeating your words to him over and over in his mind, savoring them best he could.
“Of course I like you, though. I thought I made it so obvious. I can’t possibly walk everyone to class, or buy them new headphones, or fall asleep on the phone with them, or-”
“Okay, okay, but you’re always so nice to everyone, I didn’t want to get my hopes up.”
He pulled away to look at you, those soft brown eyes holding every bit of reassurance you could possibly need.
“I’ve had the hugest crush on you since the second week of class.”
When he blinked the tears spilled over, though now they signaled nothing but happiness. Still, you were quick to intercept them. His cheeks beneath your hands were soft, red and hot with the evidence of everything he was feeling.
“Baekhyun…”
He showed you a hint of a smile, and you laughed, knowing now that there was no more reason to hide, to lie about what you felt. As you both moved closer, the rapid pounding of your heart rang loudly through your skull. But that didn't matter, nothing mattered, because Baekhyun was inching closer and closer and finally, he was kissing you.
When your lips met, you both came alive. Months of unspoken affections were conveyed effortlessly, and the knowledge hit both you and him, that something more than friendship was beginning, something you’d both been holding out for so dearly.
He was soft and bright as he always was, even in the way he kissed you. He was an artist, and he painted every ounce of desire he’d hidden from you onto your lips without as much as a moment of hesitation. It was needy, the way you both clung to one another, feeling that no amount of physical touch was enough to convey what you truly felt.
The touch of his hands at the nape of your neck and small of your back were everything you'd been craving for so long, and you only sank deeper into him. Somehow you both made it to the couch, the warmth of his body pressed to yours as the kiss deepened.
Still, neither of you did anything to take it further. It was already so much, just being able to kiss and hold each other. The taste of him was sweet and somehow familiar, with every touch of his tongue and lips to your own blurring the world around you into irrelevance. You could've stayed like that forever, sandwiched between him and the couch without a care for anything else in the world.
That was, until Heejin left her room again.
She laughed a little and cleared her throat. Baekhyun quickly detached himself from you, both looking back at her, embarrassed.
“I'm happy for you two, don't get me wrong, but do you think you could take this into your room or something?”
You nodded sheepishly, grabbing Baekhyun’s hand to lead him towards your room but he interjected.
“Let's go to my place.” He whispered, only for you to hear.
You looked back at him for a moment, surprised, but nodded.
On the walk over he held your hand, squeezing a little too hard, but he couldn’t help himself. It still felt surreal, he feared if he didn’t hold on tight enough, you'd run away, or vanish like he never even knew you.
He’d mentioned that he had his own place, so there wouldn’t be any roommates to interrupt. It would be your first time being truly alone with him, and the possibilities urged your feet to move faster.
Luckily it wasn’t too far of a walk, and you soon stood at his front door. He put the key in the lock, and looked at you before moving any further. “I’ve wanted to bring you here for a while now, but never knew how to ask.”
Your lips pressed themselves to his cheek, and you smiled your most reassuring smile. You weren’t sure why Baekhyun seemed to be getting shy now, but you just wanted to reassure him, to be close to him.
He unlocked the door, pulled you inside, and you loved the place, right away.
Canvases bathed in colorful whirlwinds lined every wall, many of them familiar to you, but he didn’t give you the time to fully appreciate them. A gentle hand on your chin brought your attention back to him, guiding your lips back to his own.
He was smiling so big now, barely able to keep up with your kisses because of it. Of course you noticed, and soon he did too, pulling away just enough to meet your eyes.
“I’ve never invited anyone else here,” He told you, “so I’m sorry if it’s kind of chaotic, I didn’t think I would get this far.”
Your hand found comfort atop his warm chest, looking up at him quizzically. “Not even your friends? Why?”
He pulled you down onto a nearby couch with him, and somehow your head ended up in his lap. You smiled up at him when you felt him start to play with your hair.
“I… don’t actually like showing people most of what I paint. Of course plenty of people see the stuff I do for my classes, but that’s different. Usually I just try to paint what I see in my brain at any given time, like putting what I feel on the canvas. It's a bunch of abstract nonsense, but for some reason it still feels way too vulnerable to share with the world.”
As you looked around, most of the paintings were, in fact, completely abstract. Though you still found them beautiful. Most used similar color schemes as the works you’d seen prior, they just didn’t contain any clearly discernible figures, just lines and shapes. Sometimes they were more flowy, sometimes sharp, sometimes dark, sometimes bright.
“They don’t look like nonsense to me.”
Without saying a word he got up. You pouted at the loss of contact, but he returned soon enough, holding a stack of canvases he’d picked up from the corner of his living room.
You leaned your head on his shoulder, looking down at the swirls of red, pink, and gold that covered what he held on his lap.
“I painted these while thinking about you.”
You looked at him, not knowing what to say, as he laid them all out on his living room floor.
“This one is the first day I walked you home.”
The bright colors all flowed into each other beautifully, effortlessly. Peachy pinks were most prominent. Overlaying it all were slivers of shimmering gold, the same color that speckled much of his clothing. It looked joyful, bright and full of hope.
“This was one of the nights we were on the phone.”
Dark blue, golden stars, and red shapes that swirled about like wind. It reminded you of what a nonsensical, more lust-driven version of Starry Night might’ve looked like.
“And this was a few weeks ago.” He said, quieter than before.
No gold, dark blues and reds. Sharp edges. A shape like a tunnel, with no light at the end.
He went on to show you several more, but your mind kept falling back to that dark tunnel. Uncomfortable pangs of guilt crept their way in. You’d really hurt him, even worse than you originally thought.
“What about now? What do you see in your head right now?”
He closed his eyes, leaning back into you.
“You. Just you.”
You brought your lips back to his, hoping he wouldn’t notice the way you were starting to get choked up again. This time you ended up atop of him, straddling his waist on his paint stained couch as his hands gripped your waist.
You both took your time, wanting to learn every tiny nuance there could possibly be about the other's lips. He liked to trap your bottom lip between his teeth every now and then, mirroring the way you’d smile when he did. You liked the soft, non intrusive touch of his tongue, giving you just a little taste of him at a time. You loved how his hands wandered, from your waist, to your hips, ass, and eventually, chest. You loved the intimacy, and he loved the softness. Despite his wandering hands, he never made any other effort to take things further. He was keenly invested in just mapping you out, needing to know how every inch of you felt beneath his palms.
It was unclear how much time had passed by the time you realized you wanted more. When you asked him to take you to bed, he pulled away with a surprised look.
“Are you sure?”
You grinned at his sweetness, and nodded.
Your legs remained wrapped around Baekhyun’s waist as he carried you the short distance, strong hands steady on your thighs. His lips, still smiling, peppered kisses onto every inch of your face.
Baekhyun sat at the edge of his bed, keeping you perched atop his lap. His eyes held your own with a newfound seriousness.
“Y/n?”
“Hmm?”
“What happens after this?”
You stared for a second, “What do you mean?”
“I mean, with us. What will we be?”
Since the moment he’d appeared in your doorway, that one simple question had somehow slipped your mind. Now that he’d said it aloud, the answer seemed obvious, yet you still remained silent.
“I’d like to be your boyfriend, if you’ll let me.”
Your cheeks rose into a wide smile, and you nodded, “I’d like that a lot.”
He let out a long, shaky exhale of relief, and his hands began to wander again. His lips soon traveled from your lips to your neck, sucking and biting at the sensitive skin. He claimed you, possessive in his need to leave his mark, to leave a physical sign of his time there. Meanwhile you let your eyes roam the expanse of his room, taking in all of the art. Both his own pieces and the famous prints he had on display, all fit him so well. Just looking around gave you a better understanding of the man who was taking ownership of your body, and made you want to give yourself to him even more.
“Have you ever done paintings like that?” You questioned, nodding your head towards one particular picture on his wall.
It was a rather famous piece, one you’d seen before while googling Gustav Klimt in that first week you met him. The woman was naked, a common theme for the artist. It was a little odd to you at first, seeing that on Baekhyun’s wall. For half a second, you thought of frat guys who put playboy posters on the walls of their dorm rooms. You knew better than to equate it to anything of the like, though it still caught your attention.
Baekhyun turned and looked at the picture in question, then back at you, confused, mostly wondering why you’d interrupted his kisses.
“You know, nudes.” You pressed on.
“Oh..” he was so quiet, you almost missed it. “Well, Klimt, he had real life models to use for reference. I’ve never- I mean, no ones ever been willing to do that for me, not that I’ve asked.”
“You could ask me.”
His eyes widened, holding your own, trying to find some semblance of trickery. “You’d really let me do that?” He muttered in disbelief.
You nodded, biting your lip at the mere thought of laying yourself out before him in that way, knowing you’d have his undivided attention.
When he realized that you were being completely serious, something inside of him sparked to life. His lips on yours were far more feverish now, holding your face to his own while he let you taste the intensity of his neediness.
The second he pulled away for some air, you abandoned your place on his lap. He turned to observe as you sat in the middle of his bed, and began to pull off your shirt.
“Wait, you mean right now?”
He was just so cute, you couldn't get over it, laughing as you confirmed, “yeah, why not?”
You took your time as you peeled off one item of clothing after another, and all the while Baekhyun stared, almost as if he was in some sort of trance. His mouth hung open slightly, skin turning a lovely shade of pink.
As excited as he was to paint you, he was starting to worry that he wouldn’t have the patience. Just watching you, on his bed, as you took off all your clothes for him, turned him on a little too much for comfort. But you asked, so he would deliver. He just hoped he would be able to focus enough to do a good job.
Your underwear were the last to go, and once they were off, you let your eyes meet again. He held them for a few seconds, but naturally, they began to wander. It did make you a bit shy, knowing that he could see every piece of you, even the parts you were insecure about.
Baekhyun couldn’t understand why, when you began to pull the blanket over yourself. He knew he’d been staring, but was that not to be expected? You’d been beautiful to him before, but now that he could see all of you, there was even more for him to become infatuated with. In his eyes every curve, every inch you slowly began to conceal again, was perfect.
“Don’t” He said, taking a handful of the blanket. “I swear to you, there is nothing you need to be shy about, you’re beyond gorgeous. Truly.”
You hid your face in your hands, but allowed him to remove the blanket, throwing it off the bed entirely. When you looked at him again, he wore a small reassuring smile.
He came closer, the sight before him too good not to try and touch. When you stopped him, he pouted, confused.
“Don’t you need a canvas? And, I don’t know, some paint?”
He blinked a few times, already having forgotten the reason you’d undressed in the first place. “Right!”
Tearing his hands and eyes away from you to get up and find his supplies felt like a special new form of torture. After what felt like a lot longer than a few minutes, he finally positioned himself a few feet away from the bed where he could comfortably sit in his desk chair with a full view of your body.
You moved up his bed a little, resting your head on his pillow and bringing one arm over your head, posing yourself for him. “Is this okay?”
Without saying a word he came to you, the light touch of his hand on your arm causing a sharp inhale. A chill ran down your spine when he gently took hold of one thigh, just above the knee, making you bend your leg. He so badly wanted to keep touching you, to trace his way further up the soft skin. His hand lingered, before finally tearing himself away.
Before sitting back down, he asked, “Are you comfortable?”
You nodded. It wasn’t a lie, but with the tsunami of overwhelming emotions brought on by your nakedness and his fleeting touch, it still felt like a silly response.
You kept your eyes on him, watching how he scanned every inch of your body as he started putting the brush to the canvas.
Being so exposed in front of him was even more of a rush than you'd anticipated. You’d experienced intimacy before, you’d had sex with other boys, but now, without Baekhyun even touching you, it reached a harrowing intensity you weren’t yet familiar with.
Baekhyun felt it course through him in waves, having to pause every now and again to calm himself down. He was certain that he’d never wanted to touch someone that badly in his entire life. Committing to memory every curve that you so generously showed him, and putting them onto the canvas, felt like a dream. The best kind, perfectly weightless and disorienting in its intensity.
You noticed the way he occasionally squeezed his eyes shut and took deep breaths, “Are you okay?” You asked teasingly.
His smile was bashful, cheeks somehow growing an even deeper shade of pink. “I am fantastic, I just really, really want to touch you. It’s making it kind of hard to focus.”
“Well hurry up so you can join me, then.”
Again, he closed his eyes, inhaling deeply before letting it all back out. “You have no idea what you’re doing to me.”
He seemed to pick up the pace after that, his hands moving impatiently as he did his best to finish the painting so he could finally get his hands on you. Still, he tried his best, deciding to simply go with a slightly messier, more abstract approach.
The minutes kept ticking by with him only losing his cool even more, and he told you, “There's no way I can take my time with this right now, do you think we could do this again sometime? Maybe when I feel a little less crazy?”
You beamed back at him, “Of course.”
He shifted around in his chair and you saw it, the obvious bulge in his pants. Seeing how he was watching you as closely as you watched him, he knew by your smirk that you'd gotten a good look.
He huffed a small laugh of embarrassment, moving once again, this time bringing one hand to his crotch to properly readjust.
You smiled even wider, and he looked bashful as ever.
“Stop looking.” He whined, soon bringing the brush to the canvas once again
“Hm?” Your eyes snapped up to his, and you had to laugh, “You want me to stop looking at your dick, when you still have pants on, and I’m literally naked on your bed?”
“Well… It sounds dumb when you say it like that.”
“If anything, I’d be a little offended if you weren’t hard right now.”
“Then you definitely shouldn’t feel offended in the slightest.”
His hand continued its fevered motions, and you devoured the sight of him, now sitting with his legs spread, the obvious bulge straining against his zipper. His skin was coated in a damp sheen, giving him a gorgeous glow. His neck and clavicle bone, his strong forearms, the way his hand held the paintbrush. Every little piece of him was so alluring, your own patience was disappearing with unnerving speed.
“How much longer do you think?” You blurt out, feeling hotter by the second, struggling to keep your eyes off the line in this pants.
“Almost done.” He says, and you breathe a sigh of relief.
You wonder if he’s noticed the labored rise and fall of your bare chest, and the way you now struggle to keep a consistent rhythm. His thighs looked so strong and firm, it would be easy to sit yourself onto him and rub yourself into an embarrassingly quick orgasm. You knew that the slightest touch would set you off.
At long last he put down the brush, sitting back and tilting his head, observing his work.
“Done?” You asked, and he nodded.
He picked up the canvas, keeping his eyes fixed on you as he moved closer. You sat up to meet him halfway, letting him curve a hand around your jaw and pull you in for a long awaited kiss. He whined when you pulled away sooner than he wanted, still too curious about the painting.
At last he took a seat on the bed next to you, and showed you the canvas.
He chewed on his bottom lip as you got your first look, a little embarrassed that he hadn’t been able to produce something more refined. “I know it’s kind of messy, but I swear I did my best given the circumstances, I’m not usually so distracted.”
You exhaled a small laugh. The picture in front of you was beautiful, you were beautiful, in a way no photograph could ever capture. He didn’t paint you from the point of view of a camera, or even just any other person. What he put on the canvas was how he saw you, through the lens of his own admiration, and it was impossible not to feel beautiful when he captured you in such a generous way.
It was a bit messy, but that didn’t matter. You loved the way it captured the hurried lust of the moment.
“This is amazing.” You told him, “You’re amazing.”
He watched as you stood, leaning the canvas against a bare stretch of his wall, where it would be easily visible from his bed. Your eyes were still on the painting, but his remained fixed to your nude body.
You slowly came closer, watching how his legs parted to make space for you between them. His hands were delicate on your waist with their first touches, soon taking hold to drag you in closer, letting his face meet the skin beneath your breasts.
“Fuck” He murmured, “You even smell perfect.”
His arms wrapped around you tightly, hugging you against him from where you stood between his legs. Your hands were in his hair, tugging just a bit, to bring his attention back up to your eyes.
He stood, and you moved in quickly for a kiss, letting your hands push beneath his shirt.
“Wait.” He said, lips turning up into a hint of a grin at the way you pouted. “I don’t want you to feel pressured into anything. Whatever you’re ready for is okay, don’t worry about me.”
“I want you to fuck me.” You told him without hesitation, taking hold of his shirt to start dragging it over his head.
“Oh thank god.” He sighed, and allowed you to start undressing him.
When your hand moved to his pants he helped you get them undone, pushing them down and stepping out of them. After what felt like ages he finally pressed himself to you, bare chests relishing each other's labored breaths, and he began to lay you down.
Seeking more contact, you wrapped your legs around his waist, sighing at the relief of his weight above you as you settled into the cloud of pillows beneath. The first thrust of his hardness between your legs conjured up a small gasp, though you welcomed it, pulling him impossibly closer. His kisses became more desperate, all tongue and breathy moans while his hands wandered, exploring every inch that you’d laid out for him.
Finally getting to touch after only having his eyes on you for so long brought some relief, but it also heightened the increasingly inconvenient need for more. He wanted to take his time, to savor you, but the unbearable tension pushed him close to his breaking point.
The touch of your hand when it snaked its way between your bodies, stroking him over his briefs, nearly did him in. The moan he let out came from deep within, a sound of pure and uncontrolled bliss.
He leaned up slightly, catching your wrist to pull your hand away. “Fuck, I can’t- It’s too much, too quick.”
You watched in awe as he held himself back, but you didn’t want that. You didn’t care. If he was going to cum already, you wanted to watch him, to feel it, to revel in how badly he needed you.
One hand tangled its way into his hair, bringing him into a kiss, before parting just enough to whisper, “You can cum, we have all night.”
This time you tugged his underwear out of the way, and he didn’t stop you when you wrapped your hand around his length. You could feel the throbbing, the moisture already pooling at the tip, and when you slowly began to move your hand up and down, he did his best to muffle his sounds of delight in the crook of your neck.
His lips smashed themselves into yours, moving in a hungry, adrenaline fueled haze, until seconds later, he shuddered above you as he let go. Your belly and hand were coated in his release, still moving as you indulged in the sounds he made. When it came to be too much, he rolled off you, chest moving rapidly as beads of sweat trickled down the sides of his flushed face.
“Fuck..” He muttered, mainly to himself, finally prying his eyes back open when he felt your lips on the side of his neck.
Without another word he got up, finding a damp towel to clean you up with. As he did so, he wouldn’t look you in the eyes, his expression regrettable.
“What?” You asked, sitting up to close some of the distance.
“Embarrassing,” He mumbled, but you could make out a hint of a smile. “I swear I can last longer, I’m not used to sitting and staring for an hour before getting to touch. I also just really fucking like you.”
The second he was done cleaning you up, you pulled him closer, reassuring him with a long, needy kiss. You smiled into it, too taken with him and the moment to feel anything but joy.
“I really fucking like you too, Baek.”
With determined grace he laid you down, his lips exploring every bare patch of skin within reach. He kissed down your jaw, gentle at first, but as he moved, he grew bolder. When he reached your clavicle bone, he took the delicate skin between his teeth, biting, sucking, soft enough to keep you wanting more, but firm enough to make your heart race.
His hands, which had remained at your sides, joined his lips when he reached your breasts. The softness was too tempting, he couldn’t help himself.
As he showered you in his affections, your mind wandered, thinking back on the many times you’d imagined exactly this as you lay awake at night. Now that it was real, he was real, his weight between your legs pinning you to his mattress, you wondered how you ever ignored him, how you possibly could’ve been so cruel, both to him, and yourself. This was perfect, and the fact that you’d nearly ruined any chance there had been to get here, was a sad reality to face.
The sensation of his mouth as it tugged on one of your nipples, a hand diligently taking care of the other side, pulled you back into the moment, but only temporarily. You didn’t even know it was possible to feel this good, to need someone else’s touch so deeply. Again, you cursed yourself for nearly pushing him away forever, and this time, your pain and the pleasure built into a confusing and blinding cocktail that had tears blurring your vision.
Baekhyun didn’t notice at first, too caught up in the feeling of your chest in his hands and mouth. When the first sob shook you, he assumed you were reacting to his touch, which you were, but not in the way he expected.
The second time you let out a small cry, and now he detached himself, staring in wide-eyed shock and confusion at the tears streaming down your face.
“Y/n? What’s going on? Why are you crying? Did I do something wrong?”
Did I do something wrong?
It was the same thing he asked you that day after class, after you’d started shutting him out, the day you lied to him about wanting to focus on school. You remembered how hurt he’d looked, how guilty you’d felt, and it had all been for nothing. The tears came faster, harder.
Baekhyun didn’t know what to do, and started to panic when he realized you were in fact crying, and whatever he’d said had made it worse.
His hands both quickly reached your face, frantically wiping away tears as he continued to ramble.
“What’s wrong? I’m so confused, please, say something, anything, I don’t know what to do, I don’t know what I did, please-”
You pulled his face closer, making him kiss you hard, needing something to show him what you were feeling before gathering your thoughts.
“I’m so sorry.” You blurted out, “This is perfect, you’re perfect, and I almost ruined everything, I was so mean to you, I’m such an idiot.”
“Huh?” Baekhyun tried to get his thoughts straight, still too turned on to think clearly. You put a hand over his heart, and it was pounding.
The bewildered look in his eyes gradually softened as he realized what was happening, and he continued wiping away the tears.
“Why are you sorry?”
After a deep inhale, you explained, “I ignored you, I lied to you, I tried to cut you out of my life completely. That was just so stupid, I feel terrible. This feels so good, so right, I’m so mad at myself for being so dense.”
“None of that matters anymore though, we’re here now, everything turned out okay, it’s okay.”
The tears had slowed down, but the look on your face still worried him. Not knowing what else to say, he just kissed you, first on the forehead, then on both cheeks, before finally reaching your lips.
“I was an idiot too,” He whispered, “But right now, I just want to show you how much I’ve wanted you, how special you are, how I haven’t stopped thinking about you in weeks. You’re literally a dream come true.”
When his lips met that one spot on your neck, the spot that always makes your eyes flutter shut, that pulls a soft gasp from your lips, you sank back into it, back into him. He did all the right things to keep you there, dedicating himself to keeping your full attention
“Just focus on me, yeah?”
You nodded, and his wandering hands were the final pull, keeping you securely in his embrace, an embrace that didn’t allow any doubt, any grief in such a wonderful moment.
Originally he’d wanted to take his time. He wanted the first time with you to be special, unrushed. He wanted to indulge completely, and yet his patience was running out. His lips kissed down to your chest once again, lingering for a little while, until he moved further. Each kiss was feather light, barely making contact, but driving you insane nonetheless. When he reached the skin just below your belly button, he paused, this time kissing you a little firmer, but it was his face that did it for you. The way he smiled up at you, almost innocently, as he finished moving down your body, set every nerve ablaze.
The need was mounting quickly. Your hands laced themselves into his fluffy black hair, trying to tug him the rest of the way, but he resisted. Instead, he began to nip at the skin of your inner thighs. Each time you would tense up, squirm, and tighten your grip on him, and he fucking loved it. No part of him could care even the slightest bit about the sting of your hands tugging at his scalp. It told him that you wanted more, that you wanted him, and that was all he craved.
Laid out before him like this, him between your legs, he felt the first waves of possessiveness crash through. You were his. His girlfriend. He was the only one who got to see you like this, and he hoped it would stay that way, for as long as he was around.
Fueled by his blinding lust and need, he let you have it, diving in with greed. The way you arched at the first touch of his tongue on your clit had him smiling into you, pleased by the tremendous effect he had. He knew then, you were just as fucked for him as he was for you.
Just like him, you found yourself dancing on the edge far sooner than what felt normal or right. Still, you let him take you there, lost in every little motion of his perfect mouth. He ate you out like he’d known your body for years, like he'd always been meant to be right there, between your thighs.
His hair was soft between your fingers, now fully intertwined, tugging carelessly. He moaned into you, delighted by the sting on his scalp, and the taste on his tongue.
“Cum for me.” He mumbled, hardly taking his mouth off of you.
You nodded, frantic, and when one finger slowly slid inside you, it was closer than ever. Only a few pumps later you shuddered apart, releasing into his mouth with a gasp and a sigh.
He smiled, still keeping up the rhythm of his tongue and finger, pulling you through it until you couldn't take it anymore. Over sensitivity set in, and you pushed him away with the little strength you had left.
Still panting, you met his eyes, and his smile was instantly contagious. Both hands grabbed onto his shoulders, pulling him closer for a long, messy kiss.
As he pulled away he kept your face in his hands, just admiring you. His thumb was barely there, so gentle as it touched your cheek.
“You're so beautiful.”
Your smile grew even further, but as his eyes remained glued to your own, you became shy. Ever so slightly, you started to shake your head. He stopped you.
“I could paint every little part of you, from every possible angle, in every possible light, and still never get enough of you, that’s how beautiful you are to me. I didn't know it was possible to be this obsessed with just looking at another person.”
“I want you to do more than just look at me, Baek.”
His eyes sparkled, “I know.”
Again, he kissed you, but this time he didn’t stop. He guided you up the bed, until your head was comfortable among the pillows and he could lay between your thighs. An involuntary push against you let you know he was hard again, and he only pulled away to take off his last remaining clothing, holding your gaze with intent as he came close.
The first bit of pressure from his tip as it slipped through your folds set you ablaze, needing him more than ever. One more kiss was pressed to your lips before he pulled away to look down at you, keeping your eyes fixed to his own, and then, he was pushing inside.
Finally, you both achieved that last bit of closeness, relieved at the connection, the skin pressed to skin. He filled you up so well, like he’d somehow always been missing, and with every further push as he started to move, that feeling grew. Time blurred into a meaningless haze, just him and his hips on your mind as they pleased you so expertly. You clung to him, legs wrapped around his waist, nails digging into the toned muscles of his back.
Baekhyun made love to you the way every girl dreams of. His hips were steady and precise, listening to you, learning how your body reacted, and making sure he brought you every possible bit of pleasure he could. Amidst his intoxicating thrusts his kisses brought you even further towards heaven, filled with uninhibited passion and hunger. Baekhyun, too, was feeling the intensity, the way the shared pleasure bonded you to him, and him to you.
“My beautiful girlfriend, so perfect, so good to me.” He whispered, his hot breath on your ear sending jolts of excitement down your spine. You just nodded, urging him to keep going, knowing that the edge was again inching closer. Every time he filled you, reaching the furthest possible depths, before pulling out almost completely, his length hit just the right spot. Each push got you closer to the feeling you now chased desperately, and Baekhyun wouldn’t rest until he got to see you cum for him, and around him.
Seconds later you half moaned, half sighed with delight as your orgasm took hold. He didn’t stop, and every additional thrust made your high that much more overwhelming. Baekhyun let out breathy moans of his own at the way you squeezed him, still rolling his hips to pull you all the way through your pleasure.
As he watched you, red faced, sweating, completely at his mercy, and so lost in ecstasy, it hit him, too. As your pussy throbbed in the aftermath of your high, he reached his own, filling you with his release.
Only then could you register the sticky, sweaty mess of limbs you’d become entangled with, and yet when he rolled off you, you still immediately kept clinging to him, pressing your face into the crook of his neck. Even the smell of him like this was massively comforting to you.
You only detached yourself when he softly called your name, his smile easily reaching his eyes as he beamed back at you, brighter than you’d ever seen before, like golden sunshine spilling out around him and illuminating the room in a gorgeous, warm glow.
“You’re finally mine.” Baekhyun spoke, and you nodded.
“All yours.”

"Have you always been so damn ugly?"
"Hahaha...Fuck you."
PLATONIC ALASTOR X GN!READER
Warning: bit of a small oc.
YOU SIGHED LAYING on your bed tired like always as your counterpart, Neno is beside you purring. His black shadowy body hold you as you face the ceiling. It's not like you are a depressed person who has no social energy battery and stay in your room not wanting to talk to people. Of course you totally aren't like that...
You heard a static noise outside your door, you narrow your eyes seeing a red glow outside your door. "What the fuck..." you say to yourself seeing the glow. Neno opens his white glowing eyes as he lets go of your body and moves swiftly to the door. It seems like he know who it is as you get off your bed and open the door. And there he is, the radio demon who smiles down at you.
"Why hello my shadowy fellow/madam!" He says entering your room as you tried to protest him entering. "Well this won't do!" He pulls open your curtain windows to let the light in. Neno hisses going into your shadow as your eyebags show. Alastor smiles that shit eating grin as he sits on your bed. "Well? Why don't you sit down my dear friend, we got things to discuss!" You just stand there side eyeing him.
"Have you always been so damn ugly?" Is what you said that came into your mind.
"Hahaha...Fuck you." Alastor says staring at you waving got you to sit with him.
No way in hell are you talking to the radio demon.
—
AND HERE YOU are ranting about how shitty your morning went about how you felt like shit and how you felt no motivation or feelings at all. Alastor just stares and nod with a smile listening to you. You don't even know why you are actually venting to him about. Sometimes with yourself, you have these weird feelings where you can't feel anything but you aren't depressed. You just can't understand some things really.
Alastor stops you from going into deep context as he smiles thinking of something. "Why don't we go for a walk my dear friend!" He says enthusiastic. You just stare at him with a blank stare...."I'm not your frie-" Alastor snaps his fingers as he has you in an outfit that seems a bit old timey. Kinda seems off the way you dressed back in the 2000's but you liked the color palette it has.
Your hair looked better as you smile looking at Neno who gave you a thumbs up with Alastor and his own shadow counterpart. "Okay! Not bad old man." "I am not an old man" he says with a slight twitch in his eye. "Whatever man" you say chuckling softly at him. Next thing you know you go picked up onto alastor's shoulder with a blank confused face as he takes you out your room.
"Now let's go on an adventure. Can't let you rot in your room like some kind of corpse dear!"
—
YOU "WALKED" around pentagram city still on alastor's shoulder as he hums a tune while you just sat there in his shoulder like a little kid leaving sea world/ Disney world with their father.
"Where are we even going Alastor...."
"Somewhere~" he said in a song tune way.
You just sighed as he wasn't even giving you a straight answer. You felt a "bling" in your pocket. That must be your hell phone. You looked at it to see the contact, "BIG BOSS🔥" calling you. You answer him hearing a bunch of quacks and tools hitting the ground.
"Heyyyyy....ducklinggg" you heard Lucifer says awkwardly. "Hello. Sir." You said flatly. Lucifer's silly smile faltered hearing your flat tone as he sighs.
"Listen I'm sorry I didn't order you right the things for you. I was busy." You heard another quack and a squeak.
"Busy making a doll house for your ducks?"
".....low blow but I can send you your favorite pastry!" He says excitedly on his end of the phone.
You stayed quiet this time but smile showing your sharp teeth, "sure man. I'll forgive you." "FANTASTIC! I'll see you in 2 hours!"
"Wait wh-" and the phone hang up.
Why the hell he said he was gonna order them to you, but come in person...
—
NOW YOU WERE confused even more as you reach a part of town you didn't even know. Alastor smiles as you see demons with black eyes like those were cartoons you use to watch back then. But the town seems lovely and lively as you see a person giving out cotton candy.
Your eyes light up, catching the taller male's attention as he smirks turning his walking direction to the cotton candy stand.
"Hello mister, I would like one cotton candy for the little lady/fellow on my beloved shoulder." Alastor said as you felt embarrassed by how some people watched you as you fidget with your fingers. The man nods with a sharp teethed smile and gave Alastor, who gives you your cotton candy.
You smile awkwardly taking the cotton candy from Alastor and ate it. You gotta admit it was tasty as fuck! The candy melted on your tongue and your eyes lit up like shimmering glitter in a summer sun. Alastor smile softly at you and turns to building while you eat. As Alastor enters you heard a ladies voice.
"Yeah, and I would eat my husband too!"
You turn to see a lady who is wearing an old timey fit and she is very tall, slender-built demon with pale gray skin, and a wide mouth full of sharp light pink teeth, black-colored lips and dusty-pink cheeks. Her eyes are pitch-black.
You always liked to look at people sometimes to observe, it's a weird habit of yours at times but you must admit this lady was beautiful.
"Oh Rosie dear!"
"Alastor hon!" The lady says cheery as she walks to Alastor and you. You hopped off of Alastor landing on Neno who held his hand for you to softly get on the ground. The two overlords hug as you finally noticed who she was. She was the one Alastor told you about sometimes.
"Oh and who is this cutie! Aw I could just eat you up!"
"Please don't." You said with an awkward smile as she pinches your cheek like a granny.
She chuckles putting a hand to her face, "oh don't worry, Alastor told me all about you and how such a dearie you are to him at times."
You raised a brow at that. "Really?" You looked at Alastor who seems to be ignoring your gaze as you just scrunched your face up in confusion.
"Why yes! You're the [animal/shadow] demon he was talking about!" She says as she cups her hands in your. Neno watches as he swirls around your body and playful nibbles on Rosie who chuckles. "And this much be your pet!" "Counter part actually.." Rosie had a surprised look as she looks into Neno's eyes which is pure white, opposite from Rosie's own eyes.
"Well isn't that swell..."
(I'm tired so I can't finish the part where you get to hang out with Lucifer again. My head ache and me being drowsy as shit isn't helping. Hope you enjoyed this)
