thank you for bringing awareness to this grievous issue. how is there possibly not more huntercorp content out there?? the overlap between the succession freaks and spn freaks on here is practically a circle. then supernatural does a literal canon succession au and… crickets. i don’t understand. cmon ladies we can do better
Thank you for your solidarity! I agree: we CAN do better!
To be fair, I totally understand the paucity of content in the field, simply because those guys are just not really recognizable as Sam and Dean. They're vacuous spoiled dudes for us to laugh at for the five minutes they're on screen, unlike our very serious special Winchesters Prime, God's favorites, etc. We don’t really even know anything about them, other than they still live with their dad into their late thirties? And Sam is like "haha Dad is the best guy I wanna live with him in the same house forever cheers," which makes me think the CTE finally caught up with him. So fanon interest doesn't really extend beyond heehee silly wincest-twincest foursome business, or maybe there's some cracky Daddycestuous harem going on that I haven't heard about--- which is great if you're into that sort of thing.
What I think is more interesting though is to use that world as a springboard to construct a more canon-feeling AU that retains the characters' personalities and dynamics. Like, just take all the deeply traumatizing shit that comes with hunting from a young age and add to it all the fucked-up-ness of excessive wealth and access.
Say, John, at some point when Dean and Sam are much younger, decides it would be better to work with other people for resources and efficiency (lol), and doesn’t burn quite as many bridges as he could, and whenever someone offers to pay a little something to show their gratitude he agrees. Along the way that turns into a hunting business, recruiting hunters, etc, and it picks up, and it's lucrative enough obviously because monsters are plentiful, and so the kids grow up with money, comfortable. There's the old "I want you to go to school and I want Dean to have a home," so he probably did buy a home base, extra fortified, and there were babysitters to watch after Sam, a little less pressure on Dean with the co-parenting. More creature comforts and safety and stability available, but maybe even more emotional distance between John and Sam than in canon. Dad's trips last for months and months, Sam is fine, he goes to the same nice private school for most of his life, gets with Jessica in high school or something, whatever, you can fill in the blanks here. Maybe he goes to a military school or something, in this strange world where people know about monsters, but his dad is still very much distant and mysterious.
Depending on when the transition towards more financial stability happens, Dean would have more vivid memories of serious poverty that he shares with his dad that Sam might not fully remember/appreciate, and as he gets older Dean’s off with Dad more and more, staying away longer and longer, etc, and that in itself is an interesting question, I think: if Dean doesn't have to parent Sam as much, what does that mean for their relationship? There's always the baseline of the older brother duty/younger brother admiration going on, but maybe it's more like 2x20 than canon--- or not, maybe it translates into more closeness than the canon pre-canon! A good writer can convince you of anything, but it's essential that their relationship only flourishes in the absence of their dad, not only physical absence/death, but also his absence in Dean's emotional life, and all of that is deferred for as long as you keep the old man around. the idea of 60's John/40's Dean makes me....
Anyway, the Succession comparison in particular is really compelling here because 1. in a world where people know about monsters, and monster-hunting is a lucrative empire-building business, the Winchesters (assuming they are actually as good as they are in the main timeline) would hold huge influence. Like, serious political influence. Depending on the size and boundaries of his operation John Winchester could be the owner of an extremely powerful militia trained to kill both people and monsters? And that's... kind of insane! (And with that power and influence, did Sam and Dean grow up in the public eye to some degree, like president’s kids and various d-listers? What sort of rich people vices were they exposed to? Are hunters seen as celebrities or as soldiers, or something in between like in, eg, The Boys?”)
Therefore 2. the stakes of succession are extremely important, and also 3. as an au-explorer, that's how you get to keep some semblance of the John-Dean-Sam dynamic from canon. Say, Sam goes to Stanford on Dad's dime, no need for a scholarship, he fits in with the other kids fine, at least along socioeconomic lines. But obviously he's still very well trained as a hunter, and he may or may not be dealing with demon blood-induced uncleanliness. And let's say Dean is groomed into both hunting but also the business side of things, slated to run the family business when the time comes, maybe he goes to college too and studies something soul-sucking he thinks would be useful for the business and would make Dad proud. Or not, he already has charm and looks in spades, no need for a fancy degree.
But what if at some point John changes his mind? It's not Dean, but Sam who should be king. Or Sam and Dean together as partners. Sam of course doesn't want it. He wants to be a lawyer, or whatever it is the Lebanon alt!Sam does. Adam doesn't want it, he doesn't know anything about hunting, he's probably only seen his dad a total of five times since college, and no one showed up to his engagement party. Who knows, maybe he's already been eaten by the ghoul and no one has noticed yet. Obviously Dean doesn't want to run anything, either, but no one cares about that. He'll do it if he has to, because he's a good son, and in that way this is the weird inverse world of Succession where no one actually wants the inheritance. They do want the elusive kiss from daddy, they're just not under any illusions that the family business is an adequate substitute.
So, like, you can take those two weirdo throwaways and make them infinitely more interesting. You can kill John, you can throw in the Azazel hunt, or introduce the Heaven mega-bureaucrats, or whatever. Maybe Sam gets on the demon blood in his fancy private school and is surrounded by demons for years and it’s John’s fault because he sent him there, thinking he'd be safe. Or maybe none of that other mytharc stuff comes in and at the heart of the story is just the family drama. Sprinkle in some more sex, drugs, and rock n roll, etc— so many little choices to make for people who like the work of intricate world building and crossovers! Good for them, whenever they get their hands on this.
Of course the thing that matters to me most is the J/D of it all and Dean's feelings about it--- like he is daddy's golden boy in pretty panties and a cock cage, but what I've been thinking about (like, actually thinking about, for fic writing purposes) is why is he in the cock cage? What if he likes it? What if he wants it and likes it and hates that he likes it? Succession is part of a huge tradition of works preoccupied with wealth and moral decadence and corruption, and those things can only be compounded by the reality of not only wide-spread knowledge of monsters, but also the existence of an industry dedicated to the sanctioned extrajudicial killing of "creatures" that look and live just like normal people 99% of the time. It's extremely fucking bleak, more so in some ways than canon, and it's the kind of world where dad/son incest is possible, where alcoholism/addiction would be much closer to the surface, where Dean is rewarded for Dad’s parasitic dependence in different, slightly more complicated ways than canon, where Dean's baitboy duties probably extend to various unsavory human actors, men and women, starting when he was way too young. And it's not necessarily always the sort of seduction/manipulation/self-objectification that ends with Dean on his back, and John is not a mustache-twirling villain who's looking it in the face and ambivalently sending his kid to the slaughter, but shit happens and it's part of life and it's for the greater good and it's for the family business and Dean's a man and he can handle it and when he comes back tongue-tied and flushed, wearing his cute little panties under his slacks and holding a matching cage in his hand John will tease him first, always, and then he will put his hands on the kid and make it better.
#thank you dear anon-- thinking and writing this through reminded me of the scene with bela in s3 with the tux#and i don't really think she's that evil in the larger scheme of things#but she's someone who would be more vicious in this world#and now I'm thinking about a story where Dean *has to* have maybe traumatizing sex with her for whatever dad-related reason#and whatever she did to our little guy he doesn't want to think about his dick for a while :(#and obviously because it's dad's fault only dad can fix it#i mean--- if j/d can be distilled down to any single trope it would be hurt/comfort and john is always always the source of both </3#asks

Danny owns a ship.
A giant, wonderous piece of technology he is even! He made his ship from scratch!
Well, with a bit of help here and there from his parents, mom with the blueprints, him and his sister with design, and his dad showing how to fit certain pieces with each other that he couldn't do himself.
All of that resulting in the birth of his son, Tempest!
He did wonders on open water, a great ship all around that really only need him and him alone, usually at the very least. If he wasn't inviting a few friends on board, that is.
His ship was also fitted with some very good tech, wouldn't be of Fenton design if it weren't! Ghost shields, ectoplasmic canons, an engine running off of ectoplasm, etc, etc.
After he well outlived his friends and family (discounting Vlad, but that fruitloop would never die on his own anyway) he decided to sail Tempest into various waters, and by various, he meant various. Tempest, a ship unbound by time and able to sail along the timestream as long as he doesn't accidently fuck things up, lest Clockwork get on his ass about that.
It took a while of pleading for him to even agree to allow him to sail a ship as advanced as Tempest into the past, but he managed to do so. On an agreement that he would sail over to changes in time and fix them, which he does, and in the future it's pretty rad he won't lie.
Of course, then everything got kinda fucked up. You see, he was going back to his timeline via the timestream, and was going to drop by Vlad's place to drop off a few of his more recent spoils-
And yes, he dumps various things from his adventures on Vlad, least he could do after that whole trying to get with his mom and kill his dad thing. The dude's chill now, or as chill as he can get anyway, and has quite the interest in appraising the stuff he drops off, so a win-win for both of them honestly. Also, he uses the guy and his resources to upgrade Tempest here and there.
-When he uh, he well. He kinda, fucked up. Now you see, it wasn't his and it obviously wasn't the fault of Tempest either, but something outside the timestream (That Clockwork told him specifically not to look at) dragged his attention for a mite too long and suddenly he wasn't in the timestream at all.
Okay, so maybe it was his fault.
So now he was outside his dimension's timestream, and oh boy was trying to get back to it far harder than he was expecting. No wonder Clockwork constantly told him to be careful and pay full attention to navigating the timestream.
And he kinda, lost his...
He isn't a Master of Time like Clockwork is, though he does hold a good knowledge of the timestream he isn't as capable as Clockwork. So now he's lost navigating... wherever the hell he is, and is kinda hoping Clockwork would realize and find him.
He does manage to get back on a timestream though. He doesn't recognize it, but hell he only recognizes his because it was the only one he's ever entered so far. So he pops off to the present time of this timestream, and thinks that hey, yea, this definitely isn't his timeline.
Because there was a fuck ton of heroes, supervillains, magic, you name it, its here.
So, what was one eternally young-looking captain the Tempest, a time sailing ship, to do?
Explore of course!

Alright so I just finished Batman:TAS recently and started watching Superman:TAS and it delights me that the first episode is literally just: superman??? Who dat. This is aliens :)) (even if Brainiac does say "human error, Jor-el"). So obviously I do now have aus. Obviously <3 shout-out to @midnightluck for the Justice League, @cer-rata for Terry and @suzukiblu for Jordan + putting up with the initial ramble
So anyway Brianiac's satellite upload gets fucked up by Jor-el either in petty revenge or as an accident, and a part of Brainiac ends up on Clark's ship. The vague explanation I have is that Brainiac is the AI for everything and in TAS, Jor-el also does not realise he is "evil" and thus still uses his help as a navigator for Clark's ship while he is initially building it. The ship, however, is offline to prevent the Kryptoninan council from finding out about it, and thus, that section of Brainiac does not get taken back into the satellite upload.
As it is BARELY the 90's when the Kents find Clark after the crash, Brainiac is summarily useless thanks to the current lack of wifi, but manages to mostly teach himself English and Kal kryptonian, and decides that. >:( since they're BOTH there, they can BOTH be vestibules of kryptonian knowledge. And also Kal can get him more earth knowledge. The vibes entirely are: "Weird aspects of kryptonian culture taught by an unbodied dickhead historian" and while the argument is "but brainiac is evil!" Main brainiac is. But this is a subsection of Brainiac :) he learnt more stuff + Clark loves him soooo much.
Unfortunately. That is His baby now. He is not impressed with his baby. His baby bought him a growing chick the other day, with big sad eyes, and said the kryptonian word for fluffy!!! in such a mournful tone that Brainiac resigned himself to teaching kal about how growing up worked and that the chicken needed feathers to fly. This explanation ends with Clark collecting feathers and trying to jump off the barn roof, and he thus resolves to extend further co-parenting issues to the Kents. For his own personal convenience, of course.
It does of course ALSO mean that Brainiac, who has a loose definition of the words "surveillance state" absolutely gets in at the ground floor when the internet first starts up. Clark's influence relegates him to the background, but he is good at hiding ! So they don't realise they have an AI in the wifi! But ohhhh boy does brainiac scare a few people at first. Potentially tries to do his "i am helpful" schtick before realising he is not useful in this because he's basically just. Seems completely like a troll? He's some random person who's invaded the internet!!
However he is also the inspiration for google 😂 and calls it his younger, stupider sibling. It is also funny to me to think about earth compsci engineers having NO idea why sometimes the internet acts SO DAMN WEIRD <- brainiac's fault.
As a result though, when Clark starts up as Superman, Brainiac does NOT let the Kr project off the ground. Files are misdirected and blackmail is gathered. Until one day Kal says something sad about how he'll never be able to have a great romance, because he's terrified of telling anyone the alien thing, and that he's always thought about kids but he's kinda terrified because what if he hurts someone- and Brainiac is like ah yes wait. I shall fix this for my Only Kryptonian.
TWO kids for the price of one?!? he finds, after he goes searching, and then further prodding finds THIRTEEN children, extraordinary. Not all of them are viable because the earth scientists truly are incapable but Brainiac can fix the issues with their technology to ensure Kal has the children he wants.
"How many children did you think of, kal-el?" he asks, and Clark laughs at how kindly his friend/uncle/grandfather figure treats his silly selfishness.
"Oh, man, sometimes I think: as many as I can carry! But then- I don't want Superman to get in the way of being a good dad. Too many and I won't be there for them like I should, you know? I worry about that, I guess."
"As many as you can carry is a significant amount," Brainiac says dubiously, already imagining teaching these numerous children kryptonian culture and Also that they are Not chickens. "I do not think that can be fulfilled effectively."
Five minutes later Clark has five children and has realised his matchbox apartment and budding romance with Lois Lane are both complicated things he will now have to resolve. He's basically commuting daily to the Daily Planet from Smallville, thank god for superspeed and his endlessly patient parents, jfc
(Children I was thinking of: the destablised kon!clone from SB94/The Ravers, Kon, Match, Bizarro, and Mia. Alternatively they went old-school with Biz so Brainiac didn't get a chance to help him/he's older than the other kids when Clark finally mentions wanting kids, to Brainiac, and thus Biz ends up like. The kids' uncle. There ARE technically twelve clones before Kon. I could've given you thirteen-fifteen kids, Clark.)
Anyway this does mean that either a) when Lois finds out Kal is superman this is not his biggest secret, b) Kon rocks up as Superboy and Lois, once she finds out Clark is Superman, immediately goes: WAIT BUT SUPERBOY'S YOUR KID. ARE YOU MARRIED??? or c) everyone at the Daily Planet thinks Clark just. Got really unlucky with different people he slept with and someone in the world's wildest stroke of luck they all ended up pregnant. Because Clark Does Not mention a partner when it is eventually revealed he has kids.
He probably does keep them a secret for a while though. A) He doesn't want them to have to try and be "normal" since they're only just out of the pod and B) I feel like, weirdly, Clark is somehow that co-worker that people like. barely know anything about. You like them and they're so helpful! and good-natured! and then you get him in the office secret santa and realise you're not even 100% what his favourite colour is or if he has a pet.
Anyway, Lois: he is NOT expecting Lois to get pregnant and they have to have a Long talk about it because Brainiac is. :) Being an asshole about species compatibility and the fact that it is "not natural" for Kryptonians to be created biologically rather than properly, in a pod, and also: Clark already has five freaking kids. That's a lot of kids! Are they going to be okay having a brother that much (at least five-ten years I'm thinking, depending on if we go: Brainiac gives him multiple children of multiple ages, or multiple young children of the same age,) younger than them??? And then there's Chris, too, who rocked up just after Clark and Lois started dating, and is still pretty high needs because he only mostly speaks Kryptonian (and is lowkey terrified of Brainiac, so Clark's main babysitter is out) (also please please imagine how freaking cute the subplot of "chris realises this brainiac is not the nightmare his stories told him about; watching his new siblings do things that Brainiac would have killed them for, terrified for them because he heard the stories of how long Brainiac bided his time--)
But this is also: how many kids can we give clark, the fic, and thus they have Jon, and then Jon exhibits so many kryptonian characteristics and Lois doesn't mean to but she's a little wine drunk and says, "i love them, you know, they're all perfect, Jon's perfect, I was just- I'm terrified for him. If we raise him right he's gonna be just like his dad…and you know what? I was wanting my own little Lane. Someone to follow my footsteps. I'm feeling a bit outnumbered here, haha!"
Brainiac: hm. I will amend this. (Makes and artificially grows human!Jordan so he displays more human genetic characteristics As Lois Wants)
Brainiac: I have created Jon-el's twin for you, Lane. You are welcome.
Lois: um what
Clark: honey no you can't talk about children with Brainiac he will make more
Lois: WHAT.
Lois: OUR CO-WORKERS KNOW I DIDN'T HAVE TWINS, KENT.
Clark: …. you're gonna have to be one of those weird "I didn't know I was still pregnant" stories…. 😂
Lois: 😭 Clark you know those are only funny when they are NOT HAPPENING TO ME
Clark: you didn't know you were pregnant….. literally
Lois must engage in the gaslighting of all of her coworkers <3 What do you mean you didn't realise she had twins she's shown you both of them? Of course they look the same they're babies. Of course she always had twins. She carried them. Did you carry her babies? Of course she would know. Isn't that right, Clark? …. isn't that right, Clark?
Clark: "Where else would she'a gotten a baby from, guys? An alien?"
Brainiac: hello i have delivered the child. Where is my thanks? It has still not been conveyed? I am doing the Literal Best as the Literal Best AI ever? Excuse me? You ignore Brainiac?
Brainiac: death for one thousand humans-!!!
Martha: 🥰 Brainiac I'm so proud of you for always making sure these kids are taken care of. Giving us Jordan! Oh, you marvellous robot
Brainiac: …. acceptable, Matriarch Kent
either that or Lois shoots herself in the foot and everyone thinks Clark is STILL the man with the world's worst luck and the strongest genetics ever:
"Lois, honey…how are Jon and Jordan so close in age? If they're not twins?"
"Uh- Jordan is adopted!"
Everyone: looks at Jordan, who is Jon's splitting image
Everyone: …..okay
Anyway because this AU is wildly cliche, very obviously the Bit of Brainiac that helped Clark grow up re-integrates with Brainiac prime during a Big Dramatic Battle where all of the Superfam are getting hurt, and manages to stop/halt Brainiac prime from hurting Clark and the Kryptokids at the cost of his existence.
Jordan gets to punch it in the circuits cause he's the only one not affected by kryptonite but still has the general invulnerability. (And then Jon and/or Kon and meeting the LoSH and they realise their grandfather Brainiac has very much been continued in Brainiac 5's code :3 for an open-ish happy ending of "hey good exists forever and always regardless of heritage")
GRANDPA LEARNS LOVE AND AFFECTION.
GRANDPA CHANGES FROM GENERAL SELF SERVICE AND SELFISHNESS AND REALISES HE LOVES KAL AND THE KENTS AND HE WILL PROTECT THEM
GRANDPA ALSO WANTS ACCESS TO THE INTERNET. There is a constant battle and it does work for a while because he is elected babysitter of the kryptokids and he is only a small part of Brainiac, five kids does stretch the circuits he developed from Clark's pod, but it's a constant cycle.
"Kal-el, son of house of el, I demand google, I have not finished investigating the 'man of Bats'. Why are there two variations of his name?"
"You mean Dark Knight?"
"THERE ARE THREE? KAL-EL, PROVIDE ME WITH THE WIFI IMMEDIATELY--"
Also when Brainiac finds out that Clark's birthday falls on a human holiday he. He tries. He tries to do pranks. Most of them are vaguely and accidentally evil (Chris cries when Brainiac takes over the internet for the day and makes every search engine answer questions wrong), but he tries. He knows Clark likes pranks! He is trying to participate! It's family bonding!!!
Braniac: It is your 33rd April fool's day.
Clark: Yep!
Braniac: I have finally decided to assist you with a prank.
Clark:...oh?
Braniac: Behold! (Small boy with dark hair, blue eyes and a square jaw walks in, dressed in a decent little suit.)
Clark: Braniac you CANNOT keep making...Wait. No. No you didn't--
Braniac: A prank to share with your closest friend!
Braniac: I have been calling him "Bruce" for my records, but you may want to pick something else for clarity.
Clark: 😦😳😬💀
(And thus we have Terry)
Also, while Clark is pretty secretive about his kids, when/if any of them go out with a Superfam name, and/or after he gets closer with the Justice League, there are little slip ups. He does really love his kids!!! And at the point where he's joined the JL he's been with Lois for a few years now and is used to mentioning them every now and then at the Daily Planet/trauma sure does bond you together :) and he trusts the core members of the JL pretty well. Someone makes fun of Bruce for his "hoard" of children and his "adoption problem" and Clark snorts and then chokes. Bruce has barely adopted Tim and/or has only just gotten Cass. Four? Please, Clark's almost at double digits.
Or Hal is talking about the fact that he doesn't know what to get his niece for her birthday; Clark asks how old she is, and goes "Seven? Oh, yeah. Go for Monster High, it's really big right now. The dolls are pretty cool."
"Lol why do you know so much about dolls, you have a secret collection-"
"What? No, my daughter likes them."
Hal:
Barry complains about how many birthdays he has to go to and Clark laughs. "Oh, tell me about it! Mia, Mark ((Match)), Chris and Mara all had birthday parties for their school friends in the same week - thank god for superspeed, right?"
Barry, who was talking about volunteering to visit kids' birthday parties at different orphanages in Central: Clark what are you talking about.
Also, Clark's an idiot and decides to introduce Brainiac's "prank" to Bruce on the watchtower because hey! It's neutral ground! And none of his kids can hear into space, thank fuck.
Clark: so....Bruce....you know how you were complaining about being an empty nester. Now that Damian's gone to college. Well. Hm. (pulls Terry from behind him) Surprise!
Bruce: .......You have a new child.
Clark: er. Well. sort of!
Terry, staring at Bruce like the autism creature: O_O
Bruce: .....I have a new child.
(also probably terry's backstory then includes some amanda waller induced kidnapping and potentially a bit of amnesia and adoption by another family but hey, he finds bruce again eventually!)
(also match does try and be the badboy of the family and does hang out with thad, when thad comes up to kill Bart, but. they both just. accidentally vaguely rehabilitate each other? They're not good, but they don't murder, at least. It's a low, low bar. When Clark tries to disappointed-face him, Match just says he's following in Grandpa Brainiac's footsteps and does Clark REALLY expect him to disregard a family legacy-- and you can give him some suicide squad angst or whatever, but the fam is still. there for him.)
(Mia and Kara get into a fist fight when they first meet; then they are best friends. Mia's not great at 'being Kryptonian', especially because she was one of the first attempts, and as per canon is technically a human who they tried to overwrite with Kryptonian DNA, and thus doesn't entirely understand Kara's connection to their 'home', but as a result she also ends up being Kara's confidant in it, because unlike Kal she does understand being taken away from your home and not being able to go back to it, and yet does not have...the same connection the way the other members of the Superfam do, and the disconnect allows Kara to actually talk about Kyrpton instead of mourn)
(Kon does try and grab the spotlight; Clark is trying to let him have freedom, after both Mia and Match went a bit....bitey at his attempts to keep them safe until they were older, but he's still the more naive of his siblings. Thankfully for Clark, he does get to introduce Kon to Robin, and while they don't hit it off, it is enough to mitigate the worst of the fallout of Rex's sleazy bs and Knockout's crimes ): When he joins YJ Clark is both proud of his heroism and a little scared that one of his kids is actually deciding to follow in his footsteps.)
(Mara is Kon's destabilised clone, from when he learns about paul westfield. We did not have enough girls in this family and thus part of their journey of self-identity was the fact that in a family of loud personalities they weren't great at speaking up; it takes a while for them to admit they want a new name and to use she/they pronouns, but by the time Jon and Jordan are five everyone's used to the change. Mara and Kon are closest, even though Kon and Mark/Match are technically sort-of twins; they clash waaay too much in temperament and personality. Kon was much better at playing protector to his little sibling, especially after they came out, and Mara shares "Supergirl" with Kara - she's only a backup member of the titans, though, and has the compassion and strength for heroism but sometimes too much empathy. Does a lot of relief work and peaceful outreach programs. They love a lot.)
(Chris?? no self sacrifice here!!! He has a bunch of fucking siblings with TTK, he is NOT going into that portal)
(There are two Nightwings; every now and then they debate who should switch to Flamebird, jokingly, and yet both of them have perfectly valid arguments - it's kryptonian! / I look good in blue! - and thus it never comes to fruition. When Mia and takes on Flamebird they give it up entirely; it helps that Chris ends up doing a lot of intergalactic work, so there isn't much confusion on earth with the call sign.)
When Jon is old enough to want to switch from Superboy he 100% puppydog eyes Chris into giving him the Nightwing handle so he can give it to Dami, and snags Flamebird from Mia. Dick decides he can live with that and is trying to take care of his own kid so is semi-retired (and can snag it back from Dami if he ever gets too bored).
For a bit there are def still two Flamebirds, but then Mia and Chris decide to team up for intergalactic stuff and to bully Mara into more fistfights, so then they're Trio and just go by Mar-El, Lor-Zod, and Mi-El. I know that is not how female names work on Krypron but I also think Lois Lane, who kept her name and also gave both Jon and Jordan her last name, hyphenated, heard of that shit and went "absolutely not". Either that or Mara decides to keep her Kryptonian name as Mar-El and Mia is Mia Kal-el, or copies her mom and is like naw Fuck This, especially considering her.....lack of general connection to Krypton? Could be fun for any :3 (Or maybe in space she just goes by Lane; time for her semi-mom to get recognition. Mara is already showcasing the house of El, Chris is rehabilitating the house of Zod, she's gonna kick butt for the house of Lois.)
....Though this does potentially mean i have accidentally called Match "Mat-el" and the Barbie jokes from that. Would be. Iconic.
Anyway that's the Grandpa Brainy au! Tune in next week when I force Cerata to watch Arthur and the Invisibles with me and start talking about bug-prince Kon-el and Lois' adventure to save her husband from a tiny evil overlord.
#alternatively this is. give clark ALL the kids: the fic!!!!!!#wow i wonder if you can sense a theme in any of my works 🤔#bip bop nari drops#dc#superfam#clark kent#superman#nari is writing#lois lane#clois#grandpa brainiac au#grandpa brainy au#batman#bruce wayne#superboy#jon el#kon el#match#supergirl#OF FUCKING COURSE IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS OR IDEAS FOR THIS PLEASE SHARE THEM <333#i am an au maniac <- im so sorry //lying#justice league#fic ideas i probably won't write

The hidden story behind these few seconds.
(Originally, this post was going to be about "Meet the Parents Part 3," But I feel that since I was focusing so much in Jeff and Rio's reaction, so I decided to make a little post about her.)
I had been looking at this and thinking about it a lot, and hearing the dialogue and reflecting about the story. This moment means A LOT.
I see a lot of videos about Spider-verse, which I imagine makes sense considering how much I love this movie.
And in videos, in tiktoks and online as well, I had seen a lot of people been confused as to why Gwen tried to talk to Miles's parents instead of dipping out.
And you know what? I think the answer is in these few seconds, and what she does after.
Let's give context at this scene.
Gwen had realized that the Spider-society is bullshit, and not just because the system is corrupt, but also that canon can be defied, which means she can also help Miles defy canon if necessary. She knows she owes him that much, and she wants to make it up to him.
So she goes to 1610, wanting to talk to him to tell him the news, probably apologize and say that she is on his side.
Except, that there is no one.
But that's not the only thing, she also listens to his parents talk about the situation.
She hears them talk about Rio trusting Miles, and being her idea to let him go (something Gwen of course didn't know.) Jeff may be angry, but you can hear that he is scared.
But funnily enough, what else he says?
Look, is Jeff over his head and thinking the worst of Gwen? Yeah, and I will talk about it on the other post.
However, let's see this from Gwen's perspective.
Because she went to see Miles, she didn't look after the Spot, which went to Pavitr's dimension, and Miles followed her, then the joke villain became extremely powerful and threatened Miles. Now Miles is in who knows where, with Miguel and Spot hunting him down and his family.
Now, do I blame Gwen? No, she couldn't have predicted this, and she is a teen that is hurting and afraid. While I think she needs to apologize to Miles, I can't be mad at her (especially when she is doing all of this to MAKE IT UP TO HIM!)
But do I think the girl who couldn't had known debris was going to fall on top of the lizard, and that would be enough to make them human (because Gwen didn't know this was a human mind you,) and still feels like she failed him; would feel this is her fault?
Oh what do you think?
And let me tell you, NONE of this is helping.
Gwen knows that Miles has a crush on her. She has seen the drawings, how he acts around her, what other people say. And now his mom, who saw them together for just a few minutes, can tell that Miles was shining around her.
That has to be a gut punch.
She knows Miles did what he did to help her, as well as because he is amazing. And she wants to be with him obviously, even if she before felt she couldn't.
And to top it all of, she is being confronted with the fact that Miles was right about his parents.
Let's remember that while Rio and Jeff assumed the worst of Gwen, she did something similar.
So she is confronted with the fact that Miles is in the right about trying to save his dad, and that his parents are probably worth telling the secret (not to mention that now she knows there was still hope with her dad), and that if she hasn't interfered, none of this would had happened.
And she says so herself.
And this, is why she is doing it.
Remember how I mentioned earlier about people tho didn't understand why Gwen did this? This is why.
She feels guilty, she feels horrible that she put Miles in this mess, and that Miles's parents are feeling this torn about this ordeal.
Sure, you could argue it may be better to not mention anything to his parents, to dip out and find a way to fix this mess before they know.
But I think she feels she owes Miles and his parents this much; she knows how much Miles loves his parents, and would probably appreciate a head-ups to them if it is necessary.
You know how I mention this was the scene where Gwen probably realized how right was Miles about his parents, and probably gained a new appreciation for them? I wonder if we would have the inverse scenario next movie.
Of Miles's parents realizing Gwen means well and adores their son, and would do the impossible and more for him.
If you like my work, please share and support me in ko-fi if you can, if not, please share this post!

[squints at the MCU] Tony Stark has displayed more ability to weather interrogation and torture than Steve Rogers.
This is "(displayed more)(ability)," not "(displayed)(more ability)," to be clear.
(I know fiction’s depiction of torture is famously propagandafied, but in this case, it’s not about torture for information so much as physical traumas shown on screen.)
(Anyway, have a rant I did on discord the other day.)
It's not really so much about "resisted the urge to hand over information" as "survived a truly harrowing experience and still came out of it trying to do good."
Tony's very first movie involves getting repeatedly drowned while in constant pain from bomb injuries as a civilian contractor, and I… don't think I can remember anything even a little similar with Steve
I don't think he's ever been captured for long before breaking out? All his injuries are in active battle, not torture.
Like... Steve went through something horrible with the ice and losing Bucky, nobody can argue that. But I think it's very telling, sometimes, that movie Steve, especially 2012 movie Steve, is completely unaware of the absolute nightmare that Tony experienced in his solo movies.
I have so many feelings about Tony Stark being the epitome of "guy who was raised and manipulated into being a bad person by someone he trusted, and (after a horrible experience) attempts to be a better person, constantly and consistently, even if he sometimes fucks up in the execution."
And the way that some fics elide his experiences in cleaning up other people's messes (first Obadiah's, then Howard's) and how that doubtlessly compounded his many neuroses from fixing messes that he did actually create himself is just
I have a lot of feelings
And am also feeling a little bitter and salty about how Tony Stark's MCU incarnation reportedly took some inspo from Elon Musk... and a little petty and satisfied about just how drastically we've all be shown that Musk can never live up to the idea of 'billionaire with inherited wealth who actually, without hesitation, risks his own life to save millions' that he tried to use PR to achieve in the media with 'my electric cars are gonna save the world' stunts about things he didn't actually have a hand in inventing
I'm just reading some fics I really enjoyed when I was still in the YA fandom, and there was a reference to a line Steve said in the movies and I started thinking (again) about how frequently fans take lines from Steve or Sam about Tony as gospel, because they haven't seen Tony's movies, and the lines from the star spangled boys are contextually meant to show that they don't know jackshit about Tony or his life, because they are directly contradicted by multiple prior films.
Also like... how often Steve's traumas get explored (in fic) in a way that Tony's just... don't? At most, his issues about Howard get explored, but that's it.
There's this moment in CACW that people take as Accurate and it infuriates me.
Tony Stark: [Back in the cell.] Just look. Because that is the fellow who was supposed to interrogate Barnes. [He shows a holographic image of Doctor Broussard.] Clearly, I made a mistake. Sam, I was wrong. Sam Wilson: That's a first.
Which, like... it's a bad movie. Obviously. But also
That line is immediately followed by Tony revealing that he's here to help the others and is sabotaging the security to make sure Ross can't take advantage, and yet fanfic still uses Sam's quote to promote anti-Tony agendas!
And 'Tony admits he fucked up' is. Like. Listen to me
Tony's first solo movie is fixing Obadiah's machinations. *
His second solo movie is fixing his Dad's fuckup.
His first team movie is fixing Thor's mistakes.
His third solo movie is fixing something that is only tangentially his fault.
It's not until AoU that the fuck-up is really his and his alone (well, not counting Bruce), and even then, even then, a massive portion of the blame is narratively laid at Wanda's feet!
And only then do we get this man, who has spent five movies seeing what happens when people don't take responsibility for their actions, or have anyone riding them to be ethical, who has criticized himself for neither having that oversight nor providing that oversight for people who snuck shit under his nose, that is when we get Tony weighing in on the side of "most countries on the planet are agreeing with this and it's for a reason, please work with me here, maybe we can get some of it rolled back to be less authoritarian and more reasonable."
* and removing himself from the military industrial complex he was raised and groomed to be in, but that's a system and not an individual act or a set 'villain'
Or as @firebirdeternal put it:
I would say that his first solo movie does have a large element of fixing his own mistakes too, it's just that his "mistake" was Trusting the Wrong Person and not taking personal responsibility for how his actions are affecting the world. (Which, he immediately does upon coming back from being captured? "We're going to immediately stop making weapons, because it's making the world worse" and then when Obadiah cuts him out of the company he goes "Oh. Okay no that didn't work, have to personally fix all this then.") and yeah it's just Tony have plenty of reasons to be on the side of "Someone needs to have oversight over this"
IM1 is such a good exploration of someone in privilege saying "this stops now" in a situation where they do have control because they have been confronted with their mistakes in a way that's unavoidable
It's also like, a great example of the fantasy of the Super Hero. Because Tony Stark, the businessman, even with all his wealth and knowledge, isn't able to stop the systemic harm being caused by His Own Company. One person isn't able to do that, even with the best of intentions. It isn't until he becomes something else, something more, a Super Hero, that he's able to make any kind of meaningful change on his own. Like IM1 is just a phenomenal movie. It understood it's subject material so incredibly well.
And people skip it and then take Steve and Sam at their word about Tony's strength of character and moral convictions and I scream.
THIS MAN FLEW A NUKE INTO A WORMHOLE WITH THE FULL EXPECTATION THAT HE WAS GOING TO DIE
Yeah, like, that Jump on the Grenade mentality is something that he and Steve actually literally share.
They both had 'jump on the explosive to save people' moments in their introductory movies.
I find so much more strength and inspiration in stories like Thor and Tony, where they are inherently fuck-ups and were shitty people and they are trying so damn hard to be better, which is more Tony than Thor really, but both of them and their first movies are just. I find that more inspiring than Steve or T'Challa or any other hero who was already a good person and just Became Great.
Tell me about the person who has to struggle to find that moral choice. Tell me about Natasha dragging herself from her oceans of blood and Tony fighting the government over whether they have the rights to use weapons he's created and about Thor having to reckon with his family's power being born of imperialistic ravaging of other cultures.
I want to hear about the people for whom being good is hard and a choice they don't have to make, but then they make it anyway.
Also I stand by "I am Iron Man. [infinity snap]" being the most amazing bookend the MCU could have done and probably the best part of the Endgame.

Okay I've been awake for going on 36 hours and I tried to make this post last week but here we go
The lake, right. Season 7B made really damn sure we know the lake meant a lot to Shannon and Eddie. It's where they met, it was important to them. We are also told, explicitly, that Christopher loves the lake, and his grandparents took him there presumably within days of returning to El Paso.
The whole of this plot hinges on grief. Grief surrounding Shannon, the different ways Eddie and Chris have or haven't processed it. Eddie's approach in particular (though I maintain it wasn't really his fault) ends with Chris running to El Paso, to his grandparents, probably expecting to find comfort there, in the last place he truly had his mom, and far away from his dad who he's mad at.
But. But. 8x01 mentioned something that has lived in my mind rent free ever since. Helena and Ramon are taking Christopher to pool club, and thinking of installing their own pool for him, planning for the future. And as relates to the lake, you can argue they're trying to keep a substitute available, or that they are trying to foster Chris's love for the water that Eddie made sure survived the tsunami. We don't know for sure that they don't take him to the lake anymore, only that it has not been mentioned at all.
But symbolically, to me, it feels so much like erasure. A severing of this important link between Christopher and Shannon and, to some extent, Christopher and Eddie. That lake stands as a symbol and a relic of the time when Eddie and Shannon had been uncomplicated, young and happy, and, I cannot emphasise this enough, the show has connected it to Shannon. Eddie took Kim to the lake, for crying out loud!
And, I'm glad I didn't make this post last week because 8x02 gave me more brainrot on the matter. Because holy shit. Here's a falling plane, a desperate situation, and a father and his son who are grieving the mother. The father lets his son go, unsure of if or when the kid will come back, because the plane is falling, and only tells him 'I love you.' They were headed to Hawai'i because they were doing things the mother enjoyed to celebrate her birthday. I can't be the only one who reads Eddie and Chris into the whole of this, or at least a version of Eddie and Chris where they coped differently, or lost Shannon in, for lack of a better term, better circumstances.
And I wonder if Eddie will get to witness this father and son next episode, if this is what finally sets the stone rolling on fixing things with Chris, on finally moving forward, on finally celebrating Shannon.
And if the aforementioned erasure of the lake will move things along on Christopher's side, make him see both his parents and his grandparents differently.
This is (probably obviously) lead-up for an Eddie arc later in the season, and the opening of the path to moving forward, and I honestly think it's all going to come back to 'we do things she loved together to celebrate her' and that goddamned lake.
#reading this back i fear i am not making any sense#i may of course just be reading too far into shit#but i feel like that 'i've connected the dots' meme#beware of the lake#idk if im being captain obvious over here but yeah just hope i dont sound like a complete idiot#im really expecting to play into this arc#911 meta#911 spoilers#911 speculation#911 abc#911 on abc#eddie diaz#christopher diaz#crow rambles while high on sleep deprivation

Can you plz write a part 2 for the break up? 😭
The Break up pt2
Summary: oh man I've messed up big time
A/n: I've been getting a lot of requests for this part so finally here it is and it will be told from Jude's Pov also requests are open like always
What have I done, she's gone and I messed up, she had every right to leave in fact I'm surprised she didn't attack or cry she didn't even look disappointed, she looked drained more than anything as if she was expecting me to say the words that would come out of my mouth
I call my mom to tell her the news about the break up
"Hello?"
"Mum, she's gone and it's all my fault"
"What've you done now Jude"
"I cheated on Y/N and I guess she'd had enough of it and left"
"Jude, how many times have you done this and she's forgiven you, did I not tell you, did I not tell you that you'd lose her if you continued the way you did?"
"I know mum, but I need your help to get her back, I love her"
"Jude, there's not much I can do, I don't want to get involved in your issues, the only thing I can tell you to do is to go to therapy, because you obviously have a problem"
"Y/n had been suggesting that I do that for a long time now"
"Then I suggest you take the suggestion"
"I can't mom"
"Why not?"
"I'm scared"
"Oh, honey, I'll be there every step of the way ok, I'll organize the session in two days"
"Ok"
"Ok hon, get some rest and I'll see you later, I love you"
"I love you too"
I hang the phone up and walk to my bedroom that I shared with y/n, I stare at the empty wardrobe that was once filled with clothes that belonged to a girl that I love
I close it and just sit on the bed, trying to wrap my head around the events that took place
2 days later
I'm getting ready to go to training, then my first Therapy session, when I arrive at training I can't help but feel nervous about the therapy session
"Hey are you ok" Vini asks
"Yeah, I am"
Training goes on as usual and I get ready to leave for my therapy session when I arrive the therapist is very kind and welcoming
"Mr. Bellingham thank you for coming today"
"Thank you"
"Your Mother explained to me over the phone, that you are facing some personal problems, let's start with what those are shall we"
"My Girlfriend, well Ex girlfriend she broke up with me because I cheated on her on multiple occasions and she would forgive me each time and I guess she became fed up and left"
"Ok what else"
"I feel alone, lonely even like I'm just existing, Everytime I cheated on her, I always expected her to stay to be there with me even after all I've put her through"
"Well I'd be stating the obvious here but it sounds like you took her love and Kindness for granted"
"Yeah, can you fix me"
"I can't fix you Jude, that's up to you"
After a few more hours we end the session and I head home, to an empty house, I walk around the house remembering all the memories we shared, the laughs, the fights, that now seem so sweet in her absence
Fast Forward 12 months Later
Therapy has been going very well, my therapist says I've made a lot of progress and that If I continue this way then I won't be needing Therapy anymore
But we're back in England right now for a little Family get together and I'm glad we're doing this because it's been a long time since we've been out as a family
"Where is Y/n" dad asks
"Oh uh we broke up" I say
"Why?"
"I chea-
"She had to move away" mom says
I at her with a shocked look and she ignores it by continuing to eat her food
Jobe gives me a look and I give him a look telling him I'll explain later
"So Jobe hun, how's it been? Are you settling in well at the club?"
"Yeah mum, it's great, I mean I obviously miss Birmingham and stuff but Sunderland's fans are amazing they are great"
"When's your next match?"
"In two days"
"Great we'll be there to support you then"
"Great"
We finish having dinner and I go to the lounge just to scroll on Instagram
"Do you want to tell me what all that was about?" Jobe asks
"Not really "
He sits in the sofa next to me and looks me in the eyes
"C'mon, speak up"
"Fine, I cheated on her, not once or even twice more than five times actually"
"What?"
"Yeah, and she stayed all the times I did, until she got fed up with me and left "
"You're an idiot you know that"
"Oh thank you so much for the encouraging words Jobe"
"How can you cheat on a girl like Y/n, you've really messed up"
"Yeah, I know, but I'll get her back don't worry"
"You know what I think so too"
"Really?"
"No, I was just saying "
"Get out of here you Twat"
"Yeah yeah whatever I need to get some rest anyway, I'm tired of your shit"
"You're just jealous"
"Jealous of a person that cheated on his girlfriend more than twice now he thinks he can get her back?, I knew you were crazy but I didn't know you were delusional as well"
"Leave Jobe" I say throwing a pillow at him
2 Days later
It's Game day for Jobe and he's been nervous about it like he is before every game
"Mate calm down, you'll be fine"
"It's not like you're gonna die"
"Jude don't say that"
"But you're not, you'll live to see another day unfortunately"
"I'll also live to have a girlfriend that I won't cheat on"
"You know I'm going to let that slide because you're nervous, look at you you're sweating"
"It's because of how hot I am can't you see"
"I don't think the mirror would agree"
"You know who else wouldn't agree with certain actions that a certain person did"
"Who?"
"Dad"
"Boys c'mon we're gonna be late" we hear dad call out from downstairs
We walk down the stairs and drive to the stadium
Jobe goes to the dressing rooms and the three of us take our seats as we watch them warm up and watch people start to fill the Stadium up
Amongst those people I see a couple holding hands reminding me of how I use to do that with Y/N in public
They sit right in front of us and start talking
"Yeah I spoke to mom she said it was ok" the guy says
The girl doesn't say anything she simply nods her head
I see the guy take the stadium in and looking around until he turns his head around and notices me
"Shit it's Jude Bellingham" he mutters
"Hi you alright" I ask
"Yeah I'm great mate, do you mind taking a picture"
"Sure"
"Babe can you take the picture for us"
We both stand up and he hands his girlfriend the phone
She takes the phone and the minute she turns around I freeze
It's her
"Shit" I hear mum mutter behind me
"Smile" she says
Her voice, i missed it
I smile and she takes a few pictures then hands the phone back to her boyfriend
"Thank you so much" the boyfriend says
"No problem mate" I say and bit back down
" you alright?" Mom asks
"Yeah great"
Y/n she looks tired, exhausted even like she hasn't slept in ages
"She looks sad" mom says
"I know, it's worrying honestly"
"What's worrying?" Dad asks coming back with food
"The probability of the game" I say
"What, you don't think Jobe can make it?"
"I do I'm just saying did you see how stressed out he looked earlier"
"That's Jobe before every game"
Kick off starts and Sunderland are already 3 points up by the 43rd minute
Jobe assisted in one and scored a brace hopefully he can turn it into a hatrick
By the end of the time the match ends scores are 5-0
And we watch the players wave to the fans and thank them
As Jobe is waving I wave at him and he notices me, I then indicate for him to look in the row before me
He looks and sees Y/n and her boyfriend leaving
He looks back at me and starts laughing from the pitch
I hate this idiot
We meet up with him outside the stadium and shower him with congratulations and tell him how well he played, dad then gives him a match debrief about the things he needs to improve on and what things he did great
In the car Jobe and I are texting about the whole Y/n situation because we can't verbal communicate in the presence of our parents
Jobe: so how did you see it was her?
Jude: The boyfriend recognized me and he asked for a picture
Jobe: and he asked Y/n to take it
Jude: oh wow look at that you're not as stupid as you look
Jobe: That's because I'm hot
Jude: in your dreams 💀
Jobe: stop changing the topic, did you talk to her
Jude: no I couldn't but she looked really tired and sad
Jobe: like how?
Jude: like she's been bothered about something
Jobe: did she at least look happy?
Jude: no, she didn't even acnowledge me, she just said smile, took some pictures gave the phone to her boyfriend and sat back down
Jobe: she's still mad at you
Jude: yeah that much is true
Jobe: I'm sure whatever it is it's not that big of a deal
Jude: whatever it is I need to know what is happening, I want to help her it's the least i can do after the damage I've caused
Jobe: and you've caused a lot of it, a lot is even an understatement
Jude: ok thank you very much🙄
Jobe: so what are you gonna do?
Jude: find out what's going on with her then help her
Jobe: and you're not doing all of this to get back together with her are you?🤨
Jude: no I'm not, seeing her today made me realize that her and I can never be a thing ever again, I've hurt her to much and I don't want to hurt her again
Jobe: ok, that's good, so where are you going to start Sherlock Holmes
🧐
Jude: social media, I'm going to look for her social media and start there
Jobe: it's giving stalker 🤭
Jude: I just want to help her
LJobe: ok Mr. Stalker
Jude: Jobe stop
Jobe: ok fine I'll help you since you asked so nicely
Jude: oh how sweet of you🙄

anyway necessary abuse analysis after I watched the episode bc like. c’mon I cannot avoid that.
as of episode 12, obviously i do not know much about ozai, azula (I am spoiled to hell on this show i know she exists), and even really zuko (i was not expecting him to be that obviously a child at that moment jesus fucking Christ) but i think there’s a lot you can gather from specifically the dynamic of abuse set up.
ozai clearly sees his children as extensions of himself- less as people and more as status symbols he can throw out if they stop working. and that’s really shown in the way zuko was abused. not just the very obvious severe physical abuse- not only did he severely and painfully scar his like twelve? maybe? year old son, but he likely at the very least also severely hampered his vision (look at his eye, it’s noticeably unable to open properly where the scar tissue is) and disabled him for life)- but specifically how it was set up to publicly humiliate zuko.
the agni kai was a public spectacle- there’s so many people in the audience, it’s horrifying to think about (though thankfully it seems that it's not entirely common knowledge)- one where he humiliated and degraded zuko for his lack of “honour”- which was him showing compassion and him being a child who loved his father and was terrified of hurting him and just wanted to know how to fix things. it’s a very calculated, deliberate act of abuse, and considering the severity it almost certainly was not the first instance- in fact, zuko's immediate apologetic behaviour and terror at the idea of his father seems to suggest he's been abused before, being (understandable) trauma responses.
i think the way azula acts supports this even further- she’s not at all surprised at the, again, very very severe and visceral physical abuse happening in front of her, only reacting by grinning. she has seen this before. not to this extent, nothing that left scars- or at least, obvious ones- perhaps not even prior physical abuse, but her brother being humiliated and made to feel small and worthless in front of her is something that is simply normal to her. zuko gets abused, and she watches proud that it isn’t her. it’s abusive to her too, in that sense- it’s a threat of violence, if she ever makes her father lose face. their existence is to make their father look good and to be useful- and if they aren’t, they’ll be discarded in the cruellest of ways. that is just something the two grew up knowing, one way or another.
and like, this is clearly why zuko is like that. he’s obsessed with honour because that is a tool that has clearly been used against him to justify his fathers abuse even before this- it’s an ideal he strives for because he thinks it’ll make him worthy of love. and that’s all he wants, for his dad to love him, because he is still a teenager and inherently trusts his parents and blames himself for his own abuse because of that. if he was abused and discarded, it’s his fault in his mind. he needs to fix it, he's the problem in the family. he's fixated so heavily on it because he’s convinced that it’s the only way anyone would ever love or care for him at all- and even the love his uncle shows him can’t convince him otherwise, because he can't accept the idea that he even deserves it. zuko might appear cocky, but he’s the opposite- he’s been brought up to view himself and his worth only in the value he served his father, and cut off from that he sees himself as someone worthless, someone completely unlovable, and he's desperate to fix it, because he views it as his moral failure.
i just. ugh. fucking hell. i am killing ozai with my bare hands those are children those are Tiny how can you look at like young Zuko and fucking do that he’s so obviously a child and it’s so clear this is not the first time this has happened and I’m killing and maiming. ow.
#atla#atla analysis#fire nation royal family#zuko#ozai#azula but only a bit#again I am on episode 12 lol I am Not far into this series I just talk about abuse a lot#I’m not weird I promise#abuse tw#victim blaming tw

d twins and rogier 🫵
Thank you I have many thoughts about them.
Rogier
Favorite thing: His mental illness, obviously. There’s so many things wrong with him that are also things that are wrong with me. He’s just like me fr (bad thing)
Least favorite: I’m gonna be so vulnerable right now but his outfit is so fugly. Like, he rocks it, but it is HELL to draw and I personally rank characters in my head by how fun they are to draw. I love him enough to try though.
Favorite line: I like it when he full on admits that the Tarnished terrifies him. We are very scary and he’s just a little guy. He knows the only thing keeping the Tarnished from murder is that they have a little crush on him lol.
brOTP: Rogier doesn’t have real friends, He only knows how to abandon people after he’s convinced himself that they hate him. However, I do see the relationship with the player Tarnished as the only platonic thing he’s got going on. They are buddies and he’s not used to that. He can’t leave this one behind because he physically cannot move, and that’s probably for the best tbh.
OTP: you know who I am.
nOTP: Honestly I don’t really have nOTPs. Rogier is slutty enough that you can throw him at anyone and it can work. I guess I’m not too privy on when people portray him and Fia with anything close to a healthy relationship, but that’s not the ship itself’s fault.
Random Headcanon: He’s so transgender you could never understand.
Unpopular opinion: Not unpopular within our particular circle, but with the community as a whole. He’s a pathetic little weasel of a man with sad eyes and undiagnosed mental disorders. I love him but therapy can’t fix him.
Songs I associate: Should be noted that I can make any song about him if I try hard enough. The main ones that remind me of him are We are not friends by S, Bag of Bones by Silversun Pickups, Wine and Wheat by Madds Buckley, and Liar by Arcadian Wild.
Pic: This tiny guy from the manga
Darian
Favorite thing: His strong arms that can carry me into the sunset. And probably also his reflexive need to care for others to the point where he would probably die for a complete stranger.
Least favorite: Not his fault but again with that fucking OUTFIT. I love it aesthetically but my wrist hurts even thinking about drawing it.
Favorite Line: I love how much a jokester he is once you join Gurranq. Like when he tells you to not let him starve to death is so funny to me. He trusts you enough to joke and that makes me emotional tbh.
brOTP: In my mind, he and Nepheli are actually really good buddies. They’re both adopted by not great dads and they value other’s lives above all else. Also they probably drink together.
OTP: I’m not going into him and Rogier rn because that would take a full hour to write down. I’m just a man.
nOTP: I can’t see him with a woman, I’m so sorry self-shippers. It doesn’t gross me out, but it doesn’t register as realistic in my mind. He’s gay, that’s a golden order mandate.
Random Headcanon: He wouldn’t be a great dad, but he would be one of the best dads out of the male cast of this game. Really a tallest dwarf situation.
Unpopular opinion: He’s never been wrong about anything that wasn’t related to the Golden Order tbh. The skeletons are an issue and he’s one of the only people equipped to properly deal with them.
Songs I associate: If a song is about Catholic guilt it’s immediately about him. Take me to Church is legally his theme song.
Fav pic: my profile picture/phone background, obviously.
Devin
Favorite thing: His rabies
Least favorite: I wish he had more screen time. I know that’s so his speech is more impactful, but I still wanna see him more.
Favorite Line: His iconic slutshaming moment. Good for him tbh.
brOTP: Him and me in real life. We’d be chill.
OTP: I physically cannot imagine Devin having any romantic interests for some reason. He’s not really a person in his head so maybe he believes that he’s incapable of love or something. I have many Devin thoughts.
nOTP: see above
Random Headcanon: I genuinely believe he could be a pretty good musician if he pushed himself. He looks like Kurt Cobain I had to make that joke somewhere.
Unpopular opinion: I know I say he’s a freak, but he’s actually just a grieving little guy. His mouth is foaming and his eyes are filled with tears.
Song I associate: Moon Waltz by Cojim Dip. I dunno the vibe is just correct.
Favorite image: All fan art of him is great. I don’t have a specific pic for him lol.

Anyway to provide some context my dad is an asshole but I always thought he was a Moronic Asshole, not a Selfish Asshole. Basically I always attributed his personality to Stupid Disease™️ and never assumed any malice or significant issues with his moral compass and that’s what’s basically kept me from giving up on fixing our relationship entirely.
I’m gonna go ahead and skip to the part where I tell my mom she should just go ahead and tell me The Big Secret 2 while I’m on leave from work and my being distracted by the Processing of whatever it is won’t be a problem. So she starts talking about the reason she and my dad got divorced. I knew it was related to him being a shithead about a brain tumor that massively fucked up my mom and altered both her personality and appearance but now she’s telling me that was only half of it.
She and my dad had been going to couple’s therapy and it was basically just my dad at every session trying to convince her to divorce because she’s Different now and is not making him happy and it’s All Her Fault so obviously my mom is bummed about it. She goes to her regular spa (we were upper middle class at the time) and vents to the esthetician and the esthetician responds in a disgusted tone with something along the lines of “he’s a sleazy womanizer” which completely catches my mom off guard cuz she’s never thought of him that way. She asks why the esthetician thinks that and she says “well, everyone knows, he’s not subtle about it at work”
I need to provide some additional context here: it was a small town where pretty much half the population worked at the same company as my dad.
So the owner of the spa my mom attended and the esthetician worked at was also an employee of that company and only owned the spa for extra cash
And also she had been fucking my dad for three years by that point
I’m not gonna go into further details of my mom’s investigation but basically my dad had multiple lovers and was talking shit about her the entire time
The first time she confronted him he gaslit the hell outta her
It took over a year after that for him to finally admit to it
And the worst part is
I wasn’t all that surprised
I briefly suspected my dad was cheating on his current wife when I saw him receiving a call from an “Estrella Bella ⭐️” which translates to “beautiful star” and is notably not a real legal name someone would have (unless their parents were weird) and also not the nickname he has his wife saved under but I didn’t give it much thought after the initial suspicion
And then my mom mentions that he actually introduced us to some of his mistresses and it makes me want to rip my hair out because I clearly remember him introducing us to quite a number of female “friends” and taking us over to their house WHILE STILL MARRIED TO MY MOM
I want to scream because I can’t stop thinking of all the random strangers that would send us gifts or the “fans” my dad would run into in public sometimes and it’s like
How could he be so fucking shameless?
And the gall on him to try to justify how he treated my mother by blaming her and playing the victim because he was “scared of losing custody”
If he cared that much he shoulda just kept it in his pants
I don’t think I can respect him as a person anymore
There is no playing dumb with this situation
He is sincerely selfish and uncaring for who he hurts to fulfill his wants
I’m disgusted

Francesca Pt. 2
Summary:
It broke Schlatt when he had to let Y/N go, But he would go through hell a thousand times if it meant he got to hold her again.
“If I could hold you for a minute… I’d go through it again.”
Word Count: 791
TW: Mental Illness, angst, ocd, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, break up, pining, feelings of worthlessness, basically a self insert without a physical description, Schlatt is Based in Texas… because so am I
A/N: This totally isn’t a vent fix based loosely upon what the inside of my brain looks like on a daily basis. This is the only way to work through it, and I this fic will probably only get more complicated and sad.
Did you know that Ted is actually teal years older than Schlatt? Reader is Schlatts age. Enjoy!!!
-Madi <3
“”“”“”“”“”
Schlatt’s POV
The drive home was hell, but nothing prepares me for the first time walking into a newly empty house. It didn’t look any different at a first glance… the pictures on the walls, the dirty clothes left in a hamper, the dishes in the sink.
The reality doesn’t hit until I walk into the bedroom. Her side of the room shows no proof that anyone had been living there for the last three years. I walk over and sit down on my side with a deep sigh. I hadn’t realized that I was holding my breath.
I reach over to open up my nightstand. All that sits in the drawer is a small velvet box. All that sits inside is a nearly $5,000 ring… a ring picked out for the love of my life.
I can’t help the soft patter of tears falling to the floor beneath me.
I can’t do this without her.
“”“”“”“”“”
Three Weeks Later
I don’t even know how I found it. I was just rearranging the house in an attempt to distract myself… I was moving the bed when it happened.
As I lifted the mattress, I noticed a small pink envelope… as I moved it completely away, I was taken aback by the sight of dozens of little pink envelopes. They all had names written on them, mostly consisting of mine and Ted’s, but not limited to us.
Now I sit in the floor surrounded by a pile of the opened letters, praying that Ted answers the phone.
“Hey Schlatt, what’s up?” He sounds too happy. This will ruin his day.
“What is this?” He’s silent for a second before asking me what the hell I'm talking about. “Dear Ted, things have been getting worse… but if you’re reading this, you already know that.” I take a deep breath before continuing. “Dear Jay, this isn’t your fault.” I can practically hear the realization hit him. I hear him release a deep sigh. “Dear mom and dad… Dear Charlie… Dear Tucker… Dear Friends and Family…”
I can’t breathe. Ted is silent on the other end of the call.
“She never told you?” He sounds so calm, as if I didn’t just tell him that his best friend has a stash of suicide notes.
What.
The.
Fuck.
“You knew that she wanted to kill herself and didn’t tell me?!” My voice is laced with hurt and anger. How could he keep this from me. “You should have told me… you live almost 20 hours away, it’s not like you could have helped if she had.”
“She’s not going to kill herself Schlatt…” He sounds exhausted, like he doesn’t want to have to explain himself.
I don’t know how to respond. She obviously thinks about it, how can he be so nonchalant about this?
After a few seconds of silence he corrects himself. “She doesn’t want to kill herself, it’s just something that she thinks about sometimes.”
“How long has this been going on?” What I really want to ask is why didn’t she tell me, but I don’t know if I’ll like the answer.
Ted’s silence is deafening. It takes a good three minutes before I hear him take a long breath in. It’s ragged, much like mine.
“it’s been going on since she was like twelve… she used to tell me about it, but something happened a few years back, and she stopped talking to me.”
Twelve? That’s half her life. Why didn’t she tell me? How did I not know? Why did she shut Ted out? He was the only person she trusted.
“What happened? Why did she stop telling you about it?” I have so many questions. I have way to ask her.
Ted gets silent again, like he’s deciding if he should tell me. I stay silent, wondering if I want the answer.
Ted breaks the silence after what feels like an eternity. “After she graduated, we got a small two bedroom house together…” I can hear the hesitation, almost like he’s making sure she won’t hear him. “I was still in school, and she was working as a teachers aide at the local elementary. Not long after her 19th birthday… she… I…” Oh God. What happened? “I came home one day to one those notes on the table, and the car running in the garage. She begged me not to tell her parents… and after that she stopped telling me about her bad thoughts.”
“She’s not okay… I can’t believe I didn’t see this… you need to keep an eye on her, I can’t lose h-” I stop myself, because I already did lose her.
Ted promises that he won’t let that happen, and I hang up the phone.

I know people want Jason and Steph to be friends, which I understand. They are very similar and would cause amazing amounts of chaos. But I think nobody is considering the possibility for drama here.
I think the similarities in their stories are just as compelling as the differences. Here’s some juxtaposition (I think I’m using that word correctly) for you:
They both had abusive, criminal fathers and addict mothers. But Jason grew up in Crime Alley and ended up on the street stealing to survive, before Bruce took him in. Steph was (lower?) middle class and lived in a suburb of Gotham. Jason was set up for failure by his economic status and where he lived, Steph was failed by the people around her (Arthur and Crystal).
Jason gets taken in by Bruce, going from living on the street to living in a mansion. Bruce loved him and he was Bruce’s son. Jason became Robin largely for fun. Steph was never “saved” from her situation, and she had a crappy up and down relationship with Bruce, which was partly a result of what happened to Jason. She became a vigilante all in her own, to save herself.
The only precedent to Jason’s Robin was Dick, who obviously grew to be a very successful solo hero, so there was a lot of pressure on Jason to live up to the original. Steph had three Robins come before her, but instead of being compared to Dick, like all the other Robins, she was compared to Tim and Jason. Bruce always saw her as a stand in until Tim came back and she could never get past that, but he also saw a lot of Jason in her which is (partly) why he never wanted her to be a vigilante (until she was useful to him).
They die in very similar ways but there are still some key differences, when Jason died he was actively trying to save his moms life. He objectively died heroically, but what gets remembered was his impulsiveness and this idea that he got himself killed. Steph died trying to fix a mistake she made. She accidentally started a gang war and got people killed (it wasn’t entirely her fault, a lot of it was because Bruce never really trusted her and treated her unfairly). When Jason died Bruce was actively trying to save him, but he never even knew Steph was gone. Steph escaped on her own and ran into Bruce on her way to Leslie’s clinic.
When Jason come back to life, he spends the time before returning to Gotham with the League of Assassins (not the best influences tbh). He expected Bruce to avenge him, but he never did. Jason was pissed off that his father let the man who killed him live. Steph (who spent her time after dying around better influences, like doctors) never expected Bruce to avenge her, she had many reasons not to expect this: Bruce was not her dad, they didn’t have a very positive relationship, and she started a whole gang war before she died.
When Jason come back as Redhood he is a villain, he goes on a crime and killing spree, becoming a major crime lord in Gotham. When Steph comes back she just goes back to being Spoiler, while Jason was angry at Bruce for not avenging him, Steph was just trying to make up for her own mistakes. Steph earns herself a second chance and becomes Batgirl, which she works hard for and genuinely succeeds at.
And I know that was a lot of information and (subjective) analysis but I thought it was important. So here’s where the drama comes in, I think that Steph intentionally avoids Jason for a long time because she used to get compared to him. She never knew him as Robin, all she knows is she was told she was too much like him and was gonna get herself killed, and then exactly that happened. And now he kills people, so what does that say about her?
Jason, on the other hand, doesn’t know Steph. What he does know is that another Robin died and came back, but this one came back better. When Jason died he was saving his Mom, when Steph died she got other people killed. But she gets to come back and be Batgirl? He’s upset that (from what he can tell) her death doesn’t affect her, she’s bright and optimistic, while his death haunts him.
Add on to all this the fact that Jason has a memorial in the bat cave and Steph doesn’t. Steph knows that despite all that Jason has done, Bruce and the other bats would still welcome him back into the family, but if she did what he did Bruce would take Batgirl from her and she’d be completely on her own.
So anyway, I imagine them eventually getting in a huge argument about something random and it boiling over into some minor violence before the other bats break it up. They act like children and are pretty nasty to each other and every other bat can tell it’s not really about each other but about how the other bats (specifically Bruce) have treated them.
Eventually Steph and Jason figure it out and find out they actually get along and have a lot of common interest (reading, making fun of Bruce and Tim, kicking weirdos in the crotch) but before that happens they don’t like each other and the other bats all feel really guilty about it, because what are comic books if not vessels for pain?

Please please please ramble about them ❤️
Yes!
These two could have been really good for each other. They absolutely aren't.
I think Jace has self confidence issues in everywhere but magic. Nobody can tell him he's not amazing at sorcery because he categorically knows that would be untrue. But Arianwen still manages to chip away at that confidence in a way neither of them realise.
"You're so good at magic for a sorcerer. If you just let me teach you some wizardry you would be so powerful. If we figured out how your magic does that..."
And if it was anybody else Jace would have been out of there the first time. But he is head over heels in love with this woman and he knows ("knows") this is Arianwen's way of expressing love but it still hurts at the back of his mind and has been chipping away for a while.
Speaking of making excuses, he has a whole book full of them for why it's ok that Arianwen is a shit mother. She's not a shit mother at all!
To me, Arianwen is autistic and if something isn't of interest to her she just cannot engage with it. She will talk for literal hours nonstop about her research (and this is what made Jace fall in the first place btw, been thinking about their first date for a while) but he can count on one hand the number of times she's mentioned her children.
She lost interest in being a mother a few years after Aelwyn was born and cannot bring herself to care. They have a roof over their heads. They have food. What more could they want?
And Jace could point out how damaging it is to them to have a mother who isn't really there and a father who is an abusive piece of shit ("that's how sorcerers are made, darling") but that would make her sad and he doesn't want that.
So the best course of action is obviously to help out Adaine wherever he can. He's the reason Porter doesn't know her name. He's the reason she still had spell components after the Abernants disappeared at the end of freshman year. He does care about her and is jealous of Jawbone but in his mind he's like "oh, well Arianwen will bring Her back, she'll kill Angwyn, we can be together and I'll be the dad Adaine needs and it'll be fine. The girls only need one present parent so Arianwen can keep researching and everything will be ok."
Of course that all goes out the window at the end of sophomore year when Jace somehow manages to convince himself its Adaine's fault that her mother tried (and was temporarily successful at) murdering her.
But even if their god plan had been successful, I don't know if they would have had a happily ever after. Because the biggest draw of Jace for Arianwen is that he's a puzzle, he's something to be solved and fixed. And until that happens, when he's "just" a sorcerer, she would always be embarrassed about their relationship. Even if he became a cleric of Cassandra, that's only marginally better than a sorcerer.
But if Arianwen solves the puzzle and Jace becomes the good little wizard she wants him to be, she's going to lose interest very quickly. She'll also lose interest in Cassandra quickly once she's no longer a challenge to solve, whereas he is dedicated to Her, so Arianwen finds him even more stifling.
There are points along the way that they could have gotten out of this mess and had a happily ever after, but instead Jace makes excuses and Arianwen is happily oblivious to the thoughts and feelings of others so they're doomed and I love them.

just for funsies, do you think there are any gay incestuous feelings happening between aegon ii and aemond? also, do they have a ship name? aeae? gonmond? usurpereyepatch????
short answer: YES. also lol not aeae pls.
medium answer: i think aemond is interested in aegon but aegon does not become interested in aemond until after the coronation.
long answer: i know i was kinda jokey but i'm dead ass that i think aemond is smart enough to see that viserys and daemon didn't go to war because there was genuine feelings of love encouraged between them BUT at the same time they clearly weren't close ENOUGH, noticed this pattern (ie baelon/aemon, rhaena/jaehaerys) and went "so the fix here is that aegon and i have to be close Just Like Dad And Shitty Uncle Daemon" and spends several years halfheartedly trying to seduce aegon. this is obviously a mix of show and book canon (bc he needs to have more of a personality besides "watch this sick backflip you cunt" *dies*), but i guess i see aemond as vaguely tyrion like (and i suppose a slightly parallel to daemon, though i mainly mean him as a parallel to rhaena bc dragonless second child) in that he's pretty clear eyed on the faults of his family, but can't ever bring himself to leave his family. he wants to be needed by them, more than anything else in the world. he gets that with helaena, with alicent, with daeron, but aegon just Does Not Fuck With Him, aegon thinks he's a boring dweeb, aegon would rather seduce jacaerys or even baela, he just does not think about aemond like that.
UNTIL. aemond hesitates and nearly lets him go before the coronation. of course aemond is thinking "i'd be a better king, i'd protect mother better, i'd be kinder to helaena', i'd be a more present father" etc etc but aegon takes this as aemond being on HIS side more than their grandfather's. once aegon feels he's trapped, he can't get away from all this, his feelings on aemond take a turn towards "it's us against the world" which is why he's willing to give up being protector of the realm to aemond - and why aemond doesn't try to make a play to keep the power longer than aegon is willing to give it. to me, it's more of a story about how they only start seeing eye to eye just before they die. unlike aenys and maegor, who never find real common ground, daemon and viserys, who help plunge the realm into chaos, or even baelon and aemon, who apparently had no flaws or foibles, there's something that could have grown between them but their circumstances and the war snuff out that flame before anything can happen.
#also sorry i got your other au ask but that was one of the ones where tumblr ate the like 10 paragraphs i had written#and i was so devastated i couldn't even look at the ask for a while alsdjflkadjf.#asks#transdimensional void#cannot stress enough that aemond is constantly trying to see aegon's dick and aegon thinks its so fucking weird.

If my oc's were misinterpreted by fanon, pt 1:
Abbadon
First of all, he's big and intimidating, so you know people would go rabid with anything and everything sex-related with him. People might try to say he's a himbo even when he's not, because muscles--
Outside of that, he would have little to no personality (Because obviously quiet = no personality, duh. Alternatively/additionally quiet because dumb). He's pretty much just one of the demon prince's brothers. He doesn't exist without one of them around, and it's pretty much as a yes man.
Another part of the fandom would almost definitely fall into the "He likes fighting, and he's big and quiet, so he's probably secretly abusive and cruel!"
There would also be too many people that would ship he and Mammon together orz
Baphomet
Trauma? He doesn't know her, he's too silly-goofy for all that.
Male Only, unless it's for sexy things.
"Contracts? :3c " 24/7 with literally anyone he comes across.
Touchy-feely, so that means he's had sex with or wants to have sex with everyone. Alternatively that he's a creep that can't respect anyone's boundaries.
He and Enoch are together and love each other, or are going to end up together once they realize that they're "still in love"/have been in love this whole time, vs. Any time Baphomet does something bad, it's because Enoch is manipulating him. Actually, Enoch is always manipulating him.
Kei told me to add the "omgeeeeee, he does magic and he's mysterious, and that's sexy so he can do no wrong" thing
Ber
This one is easy. They'd give him the good ol' "Just a slut" treatment. Either severely downplays, or severely overplays his scheming and manipulativeness, because of this.
Also would probably be hated on a lot because he's not nice to most people, and isn't apologetic about it. Gets immediately stamped with the "Problematic" label, and if you like him, then you're problematic for it, too.
Those that do like him would probably also stick the "Love will fix him!" tag onto him, and would ship him with literally any buff, attractive male character that he interacts with for more than 5 seconds. The same people would also give him the "He's She's so misunderstood!" treatment.
People on both sides would also probably think that all of the big moves that he's made that have effected events to the point that Creation had to step in to help fix it, weren't actually him. He can't be that smart, he's definitely working for someone. Or was framed.
Darrow
Do I even have to do Aro's? We know it's all going to boil down to "big, sexy fox man". Oversexualizes him to the extreme, ruining any character depth that he might have. Probably makes him a lot bigger/more built than he actually is, for some reason???
He can do literally nothing wrong. He's lawful good and has absolutely no inner conflict with that ever-- they'd probably also erase his more trickster-y traits because of this.
His backstory would also be twisted by a lot of people because obviously nothing bad he's ever done was actually his fault!
There would also be the group that would lean into the whole "feral" thing though, and make that his entire personality. Because they think it's sexy. Probably so they can ship someone (probably Sachi) with him and spin it as "Oh, that's the one person who can make him snap out of it, he can't control himself otherwise!"
Enoch
He would be someone that people either love, or hate. There would be very little in between, and the two groups would probably be fighting about it constantly.
Another that would be overly sexualized. Sadly, a lot of people would paint him as immediately trying to jump into bed with anyone he met from the get-go, just to get what he wants and manipulate them.
A pack of smaller things that come to mind: Bro-con probably (especially with Ellie, Zi, and Ahki), "He's just like his dad", Only thinks about himself, A "pick-me" girl--
Enoch and Baphomet are together and love each other, or are going to end up with each other when they realize that they're "still in love"/have been in love this whole time, vs. Enoch keeps Baet around to manipulate him, and do his dirty work for him. Doesn't care about Baphomet at all.
Don't ask me why, but I feel like he'd get stuck in the "hates/belittles women" club?
#[Abbadon -extras-]#[Baphomet -extras-]#[Ber -extras-]#[Darrow -extras-]#[Enoch -extras-]#There's two more parts to this that'll post soon!#I was cringing while typing some of these and laughing during others asldkfna

Theory: what REALLY makes a spider-man?
I don't know about you but ever since I watched across the spider-verse I've been curious about what makes spider man, spider man, if supposedly 'anyone can wear the mask.' It's obviously not appearance:
It's not whether or not you were bitten by a spider:
and we've already seen that it's not one's species or gender.
It's not 'destiny' either *cough*Spider-Man 2099*cough*
And I really don't think it's capability either
So what is it? I'm not sure since nothing is confirmed. I've tried to think about it but there is always something that contradicts whatever I come up with. I can't think of anything that makes perfect sense or has tons of proof but I do have a theory that I think makes the MOST sense and i hope it's good enough.
It's already been shown that every spider-person has a 'with great power comes great responsibility' moment at some point in some kind of way, whether they were directly or indirectly told or shown it.
Well, I think that kind of makes almost every spider-person have a mindset of 'I have to fix my mistake' even if there is quite literally no way they can fix it, not any kind of way to redeem themselves.
Even if they aren't told that it's their fault most spider-people already convince themselves it is. So basically I think it's their mindset. Every spider-person has an 'it's my fault, so I have to fix it' sort of mindset, even if it is their fault, there's never a way to fix their 'uncle Ben' moment.
They try to fix it but it never fulfills anything.
Some of the only solid proof of this is from a DELETED scene so I'm not sure how accurate it is.
in a deleted scene Miguel asks miles what makes a spider-man, miles answers and Miguel says his answer is wrong. That means that there is a right answer (in Miguel's mind) so any spider-person who the 'right' answer applies to immediately has the chance for miguel to ask them to join the spider society. This is what happened with gwen.
Miguel still doesn't want gwen to join even after he sees how capable she is, he doesn't want her to join still when her dad had a bad reaction to her identity reveal, he only decides to let her join right after she says something along the lines of "I don't how I can fix this." He replies with "join the club." And lets her join the spider society.
This leads me to believe that it has something to do with the mindset of the spider-person. If anyone knows anymore proof or has anything they want to add or prove wrong than feel free to say it.
Edit (I keep realising stuff AFTER I post theories): miles was never told in any kind of way "with great power comes great responsibility" he also never could come to that conclusion since when his 'uncle Ben' moment happened uncle Aaron told him "I let you down man" he also told him to "just keep going" and "you're the best of all of us" so miles never blamed himself instead he tried to improve, just keep going. this is one of the reasons he's considered an anomaly.
Some may make the argument that gwen never had a WGPCGR moment either or that she never blamed herself for peter's death, but when Peter died (her peter*) he told her that he wanted to be like her so gwen might've realised that peter did that because of HER and she technically killed him even if it was an accident it was still her. So peter sorta indirectly said that it was HER fault possibly still making her guilty.
