observing rafe cameron x reader
summary: you were trying everything to hide the fact that you couldnât stop staring at rafe, unbeknownst to you - he was secretly hoping you were
a/n: this is a surfer!rafe x shy!reader btw!! also this is like pretty much my first ever fanfic so I have no idea what the fuck I am doing so sorry if this is literal ass đ no mention of a fem!reader besides the fact that the womans bathroom gets entered
you felt the heat of the sun on your skin as you stepped out of the twinkie. the soft crash of the distant waves barely audible over the hum of the pogues voices
stepping onto the beach, a surge of excitement hits you. the day you and the pogues have been counting down to all week has finally arrived
you take one final glance into your bag, double-checking for anything you might have forgottenâsunscreen, snacks, a book, and a few other trinkets, satisfied you make your way over to your usual spot ready to take off your tshirt and shorts which hid your swim wear underneath, until you spotted someone out of the corner of your eye
rafe cameron
somehow the kooks had managed to pick the exact same date, place and time to visit the beach as you and your friends
while the others were hastly running towards the water stripping on the way down, paying no attention to the kooks, kie stayed back waiting for you
she was already in her bikini while your clothes werenât even close to leaving your body and landing on the ground
''you coming?'' she asked, hand on her forehead shielding her from the burning sun
''umm'', taking a quick glance around you searched the beach in a, hopefully, unsuspicious way trying to locate rafe again
glancing down you turned your gaze elsewhere, you hoped the sudden heat entering your body was from the sun and not from the sight of rafe taking his shirt off
''Iâll join you guys later, Iâm a little dizzy right now'', you spoke swiftly looking up at her, hoping to not get caught in the little white lie
all though kie nodded, the flicker of confusion in her eyes and a quick look behind you told you all you needed to know
you had never verbally stated your attraction to the him but you were pretty sure almost anybody couldâve guessed with the way you tensed up or seemed quieter and clumsier whenever he was in close proximity
taking off your top and shorts you shot a look over to the pogues who were already splashing and practically drowning each other. you giggled while settling down onto your beach towel before applying sunscreen and laying down on your stomach with a book in hand
even though your book was very interesting, the sight in front of you was much more enticing
rafe was currently riding a pretty common wave, yet you found yourself unable to stop staring
you adjusted your book hoping to hide the fact that you were practically ogling at the cameron boy
he was far enough out that you couldnât make out the details but you still caught the way his hair stuck to his face, the way his body twisted with the rythm of the wave and the way he⊠kept turning his head towards you?
it seemed like he was looking for you, looking to see if you were watching him
cheeks burning, you try to push your delusions aside trying to find the passage you were reading earlier
you take another peek at him and by the the time you do, he was already out of the water, walking towards his friends with the biggest fucking grin, beaming with pride and confidence, already seeming to rave about the wave he just rode
hearing jjâs laugh you swiftly adjust and pretend to be reading your book that was definitely more interesting than staring at rafeâs wet body and stupid grin
while jj kept whining about how john b, supposedly, almost drowned him they both settled down on your left, luckily on the side where the kooks were lounging
fortunately he also kept talking which meant you were able to peep right past his face and steal short glances towards rafe
it was almost impossible for you to keep your eyes off of him. it didnât matter where you would see him, you were always stealing glances or simply staring at him from a distance. others could call this stalking but you liked to call it observing, you liked watching him, but not in a creepy way, more so you were admiring him, he was pretty
you liked his side profile, the way his bangs framed his face, the way his eyes looked in the sun, the way his shirts hung onto his fit body - you noticed the way he was very articulate with his hands, which were always adorned with the same two rings, the way the corner of his lips turned downwards whenever he tried not to smile
noticing him facing you, eyeing your group, the staring quickly stopped
at this point the distance between the two groups was too small for your liking because of course the kooks had to settle down as closely as possible to the pogues - it was somehow impossible for them to keep their distance
given the short distance, whenever you actually were brave enough to look again it seemed like he was meeting your gaze, trying to maintain eye contact
heart beating way too fast and cheeks burning, you turn away from jj trying to initiate a conversation with sarah, who was sitting on your right
after a while of, luckily, managing to keep your head from spinning towards him, to meet his gaze - aside from the occasional looks to jj or john b whenever they were contributing to the conversation - you were desperate to get up, to empty your bladder
you dreaded getting up, fully aware that the beach bar was situated just behind the kooks, it meant walking past rafe and the mere thought of that unnerved you - every step would make you acutely aware of your surroundings, mind racing, until the very thought of moving felt like it might turn your legs into jelly
examining the scene quickly you notice half of the kooks gone, including rafe, they mustâve left when you werenât looking - you feel a weight being lifted off your shoulders while also immediately feeling a certain misery overtaking you
this unrequited crush was spiraling out of control
strutting over to the bar you take notice of ruby with another girl sitting at one of the tables and kacey talking to the bartender seeming to be cracking jokes instead of ordering
walking past them you try to keep your gaze relatively low to avoid any sort of interaction. turning into the small hallway of the bar you exhale a breath you didnât even realize you were holding
the calmness doesnât last long because as you round the corner to reach the toilets you spot him, standing in front of the mens bathroom, phone in hand and looking quite bored
before you get the chance to look away he lifts his head and notices you, he smiles - you smile back, a very awkward smile
relatively quickly you turn your head away and enter the womenâs bathroom. your head becoming a blur, suddenly already washing your hands ready to leave the bathroom
he mustâve left already, right?
''topper are you fucking coming, man?!'', you catch rafe through the door
your plan of immediately leaving and paying him no mind, began to falter two seconds after stepping out of the bathroom
''hey, y/n'', you hear from behind you, shit
you freeze up for a second, caught off guard, before composing yourself and turning around
immediately drawn to him, you couldnât help but notice the way his hair had dried in quite a messy way, his slightly squinted eyes and the slight smirk splayed across his face
''how are you?'' he questions before you had the chance to greet him back
''Iâm doing fine'', you manage to exclaim, nearly tripping over your words before adding the usual ''and you?''
you dig in your mind trying to recall the last time youâd exchanged words beyond the usual "hi" or "hey''
''ditto'',
apparently not completely satisified with your answer, he regards you for a moment, the stare causing a warmth to creep up your neck as you shifted uneasily
''why did your friends leave you all alone over there?'', rafe inquired with a raised brow - a hint of curiosity in his tone, ''they seemed to be enjoying themeselves''
letting out a soft exhale you answer him, attempting to maintain eye contact but faltering almost immediately, ''I wasnât feeling so good'' was all you manage to muster before adding the word, ''dizzy'' in a rather whispered voice, as you lied through your teeth, hoping he wouldnât see through it
if he did, he didnât let on ''are you feeling better now?â'
you nod quickly, meeting his gaze
looking up at him with those almost innocent eyes, he canât help but offer, ''are you sure? I can get you a glass of water'', an unrecognisable sweetness laced his voice, softening his usual edge
taken aback by his unexpected offer you hesitate before denying his offer by simply shaking your head
he let out a quiet snort, a hint of amusement in his eyes as he watched you struggle to give a simple answer
''what book were you reading?'', he asked, his smirk widening as he leaned further back into the wall, clearly amused at the way the conversation was turning into a playful interrogation, as if he found some strange satisfaction in making you squirm just a little bit
you froze, your mind going blank, searching for the title before realising you genuinely couldnât remember, maybe because you werenât actually reading the book
like a savior, topper emerged from the bathroom, a flicker of confusion passing across his face as he scanned the scene before moving past you both, muttering a quiet "letâs go," clearly directed at rafe
for a split second, it looked like frustration crossed rafeâs face, fleeting before you could overthink it, flashing you a smile he pushed himself off the wall and made his way past you
but before he completely disappeared out of view, he turned back with a smirk and called over his shoulder,
''hope you enjoyed the show earlier''

â salacious fixation
cw/tw: hoon is mean and manipulative, yandere themes, daddy kink, size kink, unprotected sex, squirting, creampie, mentions of previous rounds
minors do not interact.
Sunghoon will be the first to admit that he wonât ever fuck the same person more than two times. Itâs an unofficial rule he has, and heâs been able to stick by it for so long because he gets bored so easily. Heâs never met anyone whoâs been able to hold his attention for longer than a week.
This all changes when he meets you.
The moment he saw you taking shots with Jake, he was done for. Sunghoon felt like a creep for watching you all night, but he was physically unable to look away. Everything about you fascinated him. That night, he was only able to exchange a few words with you, but at the very least he was able to learn your name.
Getting to know you isnât as easy as Sunghoon hoped. For some reason, you kept an annoying amount of distance from him. You always remained polite and cordialâsweet, even. Yet you always pulled away before he could get too close. It drove him insane and made his fixation more intense.
Finally, Jake let it slip one day that you disregarded him so much because one of your friends had a huge crush on him. Apparently you were a girls girl, or whatever. If Sunghoon were anyone else, he mightâve respected that. But he didnât. At all.
Itâs easy to get your friend to invite him over when you just happen to be hanging out with her. Because your friend is so infatuated with him, sheâs quick to let him crash what was meant to be a girlâs night. Sunghoon can tell youâre not happy about it, but as always, you play the part of a sweet angel who goes with the flow.
It makes getting you alone that much easier.
âYouâre leaving?â You exclaim, feeling your face heat up when you realize how loud your voice got.
âIâm just going to get some drinks,â your friend assured you, not at all concerned that sheâs leaving you alone with her very hot crush. âI know youâre shy, but I wonât take a long time.â
You wonder why Sunghoon canât go with her, or why she wonât let you leave so you donât have to be a third wheel. Either way, she makes you promise to stay until she comes back, and you foolishly agree. After all, the liquor store is only thirty minutes away, and she assures you that sheâll be back quickly.
It turns out, it only took ten minutes for Sunghoon to have you naked and spread out on your friendâs bed. You feel like such a nasty slut, but somehow that just turns you on more.
According to Sunghoon, everything wouldâve been so much easier if you gave into him from the beginning. Of course, itâs way too late for any of that now. Heâs going to have to ruin all of your pretty little holes until he gets you out of his system.
At least, thatâs what he thinks until he sinks his aching cock into your needy cunt. Once Sunghoon feels how tightly youâre gripping him, he knows he wonât ever be able to get enough. Heâs so nasty, and it shouldnât get you as wet as it does. However, all of your rational thoughts were shoved to the back of your mind after your pussy got creampied.
âF-Fuck!â
Your wanton cry is loud, rivaling the lewd squelching and skin slapping filling the room. Tears of pleasure stream down your face as Sunghoon fucks his huge, girthy cock into your tight pussy. Your mixed releases are pushed out of your cunt with every rough thrust and drip onto your friendâs bed, but her hot crush is far from done with you.
âS-Sunghoon, please!â You beg through your tears. âMore!â
âWho?â
He sounds so mean and ravenous, but that only turns you on more. Your pussy tightens around him as you stain his cock with more of your cream. No one has ever fucked you so roughly before, but you love every second of it.
âDaddy, please!â You mewl into the mattress, face burning at the name he insisted you call him. âFuck me harder!â
Sunghoon smirks as his large hands grip your ass to spread you open for him. You feel so hot and tight around him that he never wants to stop fucking you. After this, heâll keep using you over and over until youâve milked every last drop of cum from his balls.
âGod, youâre fucking needy,â his grip is bruising. âBet you love daddy stretching out this tiny little cunt, huh?â
You nod even though it feels like heâs splitting you in half. It hurts so good, and you know that you wouldnât stop even if your friend were to walk in on you two right at this very second.
âCanât believe this cute little pussy is taking my cock,â Sunghoon groans as he helps you bounce back on him. âThought Iâd need to train you a little more. Guess you were just desperate for some cock.â
You moan into the sheets, too fucked out to care about anything except the cock drilling into you and the hot guy itâs attached to.
âYouâre so pretty, angel,â Sunghoon coos as his heavy balls slap against your pulsing clit. âPrettiest girl Iâve ever seen.â
Sunghoon groans in satisfaction when you squirt all over his cock. He licks his lips as his hips start to snap. Youâre a fucked out mess underneath him, trembling on his cock from absolute pleasure.
âThatâs it, baby. Get your friendâs sheets all dirty. Filthy fucking girl.â
All you can do is moan like a slut as Sunghoon fucks you like youâre his personal fucktoy. Part of you wants to finish before your friend gets back, but the other part never wants him to stop. Any guilt you felt has melted away. In a way, this was all her fault for not letting you leave when you first wanted to.
âFuck. Iâm gonna cum again,â Sunghoon roughly kneads your ass before he roughly slaps it. You jolt and cry out. âYou want that, baby? Want me to fill this tight little cunt?â
âYes, daddy!â You moan, as you deepen your arch. âCum in my slutty little pussy. Want it so bad!â
With those needy words, Sunghoon shoots his hot spunk inside you. The loud moans you let out can be heard by your friend as she unlocks the door to her apartment, but Sunghoon only encourages those pretty noises as he fucks his cum deeper into your pussy.

âIf I define her I limit herâ | CL16
Parings: Charles Leclerc x Actrees!Gf!Reader.
Summary: you go together to the Gladiator || premier because your best friend Paul Mescal invited you. You didnât expect Charles being so sweet talking about you on interviews.
Word count: +1k.
Warnings: none! Just fluff and more fluff. Not a native English speaker so there could be (so many) errors. Not proofread.
Authorâs note: I HAD TO DO IT. so I was inspired not only by Charles looking breathtakingly beautiful but from Chino Darin I LOVE THAT MAN đ«Š now I gotta go back to study UNLIVE ME Donât forget to like, reblog, comment! And follow me so we can be friends :3 (and drink mate together!)
MASTERLIST
You were so excited to assist at the premier of the movie your fav person alive aka your bestie aka paul mescal was starring in. He invented the ferrari boys alongside you. Everything was so elegant - you were lucky enough to be wearing a high fashion valentino black dress - you felt a little intimidated like every time you stepped on a red carpet. Of course, you are an actress but still couldn't get used to this side that is part of your job.
Charles holded your hand gently at the red carpet while you were walking into the people circulating there. Behind you were Carlos and rebecca. But when you say Gracie - paulÂŽs girlfriend - you part ways to say hi. Unfortunately Charles couldn't go with you because a reporter asked him and Carlos to join for a brief interview.
âGood evening, gentlemen. Looking good as ever i can seeâ the reporter said causing charles to giggle a little.
âWhat can I say ? We sweat all year so it's good to smell good once in a while,â Charles said, making the reporter laugh along with carlos. He asked a few generic questions about the break until the last three races of the championships and the invitation and expectations for the movie.
âSo Charles, what's your favorite thing about london?â the reporter asked, making Charles smile but he didn't have to think about it.
âTo be honest, my wifeâ he said grinning, making Carlos giggle a little looking at him. He has love written all over his face.
âHow romantic, is she your wife already?â The reporter moved the microphone closer thinking he had breaking news. Charles laughed, nodding.
âI mean , not yet but she will, of courseâ he answered nervously and blushing like a little kid in love. That's the effect you had on him.
âHow wonderful it is for you to say your favorite thing about London is your girlfriend. How would you define her as a person or professional?â the reporter was just as in love with him probably as you were.
âOh well, if i define her i limit her to be honest. She is amazing at everything she does. As a person and as a professionalâ Charles answered without thinking. He couldn't define you, how could he? You were this huge force that made him feel things he didn't even know he could feel. You were so powerful in his eyes. Magical. He couldn't define you because defying you would be an actual crime. You're bigger than everything.
âOh mateâ Carlos expressed, making Charles giggle.
âWhat a lovebird, did y/n come with you?â the reporter continued.
âyeah yeah i don't know exactly where she is now but somewhere around here. We were invited thanks to her to be honest,â Charles explained.
âLets see if we can find her in a minute.so carlosâŠâ the interviewer followed with some questions around Carlos now. Charles listened to him but his mind was on you. He looked around looking for you just to see you. He spotted you after a few minutes talking lively with Grace and he smiled to himself. You looked so beautiful and happy.
You started going your way after a little chat with Gracie and found charles and carlos along with rebecca on a corner waiting for you. You walked across the carpet straight to them. When Charles saw you coming his face lightened up in adoration.
âHey gang, let's goâ you said happily, taking Charles hand in yours. So you found your way into the carpet. Flashes met you when you entered the photo section. You posed with Charles smiling for the cameras. Everyone screaming your names for your attention so they could get a picture of you. You still got nervous with this. But having him next to you just made everything better. You felt more relaxed. More secure and confident.
When you finished the photo section another round of reporters was set. This time you knew you couldn't escape. A reporter a few feet away from you called you so you looked at Charles to check if he wanted to join or wait but he confidently followed you along.
âGood evening guys, how are you feeling about tonight?â she asked firstly. You smiled. Charles let you answer he knew you were the star tonight. And also, this was not his element.
âWe're excited. I'm anxious to watch the movie already. I know it's gonna be amazingâ you said sweetly gently stroking charles hand with you to calm your nerves and his. It's probably the first time you are being interviewed together.
ây/n i dont know if you heard but charlesâ she started talking to you but then directed to charles â you mentioned she was your wife and couldn't define her because i quote if i define her i limit her. She is just amazing in everything she does. y/n what do you have to say?â she asked you. You looked at Charles in a sweet simple surprise but flustered. Your thoughts all over the place and your cheeks turned red.
âOh wow, what can I say? I have the best husband in the world that's for sureâ you said proudly making him giggle. âAnd I can say I love him and I'm so glad he's here with me. But I couldn't define him either. He is everything and more to meâ your answer made charles smile so proudly and fondly. His eyes went crystal looking at you. He was so in love with you. Just as you were. He was the love of your life and you loved that you could be yourself with him with no filters and this life that was as complicated as his.
âOh wow, such lovebirds! You guys need to win couple of the year!â she said excitedly, making you both giggle and thanked her to start walking again.
âBabe you really said that? I want to cry, you can't be so cute. I love you with every fiber on my body. Stop being so perfect it should be a crimeâ you made him laugh looking at you so enamored.
âOf course, cherie. You are the most amazing person I know and I admire you so much. Im proud of youâ he said to lean over you and kissed you gently.
âI love you charlie. You're the best that ever happened to meâ you responded in his lips and giggled.
You will need to fix your lipstick before the next interview.

Aventurine
How interesting that youâve decided to turn his infatuation with you into a mutually beneficial transaction.
He knows that at this point youâve realized heâs stalking you, and yet youâve done absolutely nothing to stop it. You donât try to shake him off your trail when he strides just a few paces behind you when youâre outside, and you havenât tried to look for and destroy the cameras or hidden microphones that you must have figured out are in your home.Â
No, instead you speak more openly about things you want, and what you would expect from your future partner. Your friends and family think itâs just you being a hopeless romantic, but Aventurine knows better. These signals are meant for him, and heâs more than happy to indulge you. You receive gifts of the highest quality that, in the past, you could only dream of owningâ and in the meantime, heâs paying to have your dream home constructed.
When he finally shows up on your doorstep to âabductâ you, youâre more than happy to pack the belongings youâd like to bring with you into a suitcase and follow him into a luxury car that youâre pretty sure isnât even on the public market yet.Â
You never kick up a fuss with him, not even when heâs far clingier and possessive than anyone in a healthy relationship should be. You have a gorgeous boyfriend who showers you with affection, provides for you, and gives you whatever you want, whenever you want itâ what could you possibly complain about?
Heâs content with how things are. Some might say youâre just using him, but he doesnât mind. If you are just playing a part, you play it well, and heâs more than happy to reward you for it.
Boothill
He might be more concerned with his own behavior if he wasnât so worried about your reaction to it.
Youâre fine with someone following you around and watching over you? You want to leave behind your boring, mundane life and not have to worry about making a living for yourself?
Your mindset makes him paranoid and makes him far more protective: would you react like this with anyone who showed this kind of sick, twisted interest in you? It gives him all the more reason to take you away and keep you by his sideâ he has to do it before someone else does. Youâre so vulnerable and naive, and he doesnât trust anyone but himself to be with you.
Itâs smooth sailing after the not-really-an-abduction, though. Youâve always wanted to see what exists beyond the starry sky of your small hometown, and heâs always on the run, so thereâs plenty of places for you two to explore together. He might not ever be able to settle down with you, but youâve found you much prefer the whirlwind life with your sweetheart cowboy, anyway.
Your willingness scares him, but it doesnât matter. As long as heâs the one looking after you, youâve both got nothing to worry about.
Kafka
Oh, what a sweet little thing you are for her.
Truth be told, she was fully prepared to take you by forceâ she is one of the most feared people in the cosmos, after all. You were going to come with her, whether you liked it or not. She didnât care if you cried, screamed, and fought her every step of the way; people can be picked apart and remolded, and manipulation is second nature to her.
But surrendering yourself so easily just saves her the time and hassle, and you will certainly be rewarded for it. The most lavish gifts you can imagine are handed to you, and when sheâs not taking care of a mission Elio has assigned to her, sheâs taking you to the nicest places in every corner of the cosmos. She loves showing you off, and she wonât settle for anything less than the best for you.
Sheâs honestly not surprised that youâre willing to go with her. Sheâd watched you for sometime, and sheâd seen how miserable youâd been working so hard to provide for yourself and just barely getting by. Thereâs no need for that anymore, and sheâs so glad you both agree that sheâs whatâs best for you. Just lay your head in her lap and be good for herâ sheâll take care of the rest.
Sunday
Heâs overjoyed that you see things his way without him having to use the Harmony.
Youâd noticed heâd been stalking you. Careful as he was, itâs difficult not to pick up on the fact that youâre âcoincidentallyâ running into someone a bit too frequently. Yet, you did nothing to stop it or discourage it. You had the attention of the most powerful and handsome man in Penaconyâ why would you complain about that?
Waking up in an unimaginably plush bed within Dewlight Pavilion does throw you off a bit, though. One moment you were chatting with Sunday over drinks at the Dreamjolt Holstery, feeling a bit sleepy, and the next thing you know, youâre here.
You are upset with him when he explains himself and why heâs brought you here, but not at all for the reason heâd been expecting. He could have just asked, honestly. And quite frankly, youâre a bit offended he didnât even bother to properly court you before taking you away and making you live with him. Isnât that, like, kind of indecent?
Once he recognizes your willingness, though, heâs relieved. Thereâs no need to pout any longer, dear. Of course heâll court you properly now that heâs got you somewhere he knows youâll be safe and sound. Should you need or want anything, just name it, and your designated attendants will have it for you in an instant. Any minute of his time not spent taking care of Penacony is spent on you, holding you close and indulging your every whim.
Others might be devastated about being locked up, but youâre more than content with the gilded cage youâve been provided, and youâve taken quite the liking to your keeper.

can u make some like generic dating ellie headcannons? (tlou universe preferably)
i love ur writing sm!!
dating ellie williams âĄÌ
cw: usual fluff, mentioned love languages, mention of joelâs death (i wanted to be as canon as possible), a little nsfw but nothing too crazy.
note: here are some semi-ooc ellie hcâs!! i feel like im so bad at headcanons, but here you go. thank you for enjoying my work, i hope you like this too pookie!
ellie! is a total introvert to her core, so no matter how she found out about you taking interest in her⊠sheâd probably need some time to think about it.
ellie! would have you freaking tf out over it too. but she means well, sheâs just a really bad over-thinkerânever wanting to say the wrong thing. but sheâd come around and never stop apologizing to you.
ellie! would take a little while to open up to you, if you werenât friends first. sheâs been through a lot in her life, and she fears that her trauma could scare people away.
now, if you were already friends (specifically close friends), you probably wouldâve already known her deepest darkest secrets and feelings by the time you started dating. every traumatic event and every fixation sheâs had since she was a child.
ellie! thoroughly believes in physical touch and quality time as a love language.
for physical touch: it doesnât always have to be sexual (she doesnât complain either way), she just likes to touch youâknowing youâre right there next to her. you could be doing the dishes and sheâd come up behind you, leaning her head on your shoulder, with her hands delicately placed on your hips. or standing by the bar at the tipsy bison, with her fingers dipped into any of the pockets of your jeans. keeping you close.
for quality time: she does love her moments alone, but theyâre always better with you somewhere near by. sometimes, when she would spend hours painting or drawing in her art room, sheâd ask if you could come sit in. so youâd bring your book, or whatever you were doing, and read silently in the same room as her. while a smooth record played in the background. but sometimes, she doesnât even ask. you could be doing the most boring thing ever, and sheâd float around you like a curious bumblebee.
ellie! love, love, loves being babiedâeven though sheâd never admit it. she has a reputation to uphold, of course. during the spring, due to the patrols and supply runs, her allergies would wreck havoc on her. thatâs where you come in to nurture her back to health. sheâd have tissue stuck up her nose, with her head lying in your lap on the couch. you rubbing your hand over her hair, soothingly.
âif you kiss me right now, i think my sinuses will re-open.â
âellie, you just sneezed two minutes ago.â
âbaby, pleaseeeee! i need it!â and sheâd give the craziest puppy dog eyes known to man. and, of course, youâd give in. giving her the sweetest smooch ever. it didnât open her sinuses, but she knew that. just know⊠sheâs gonna convince you to give her another to be sure.
another scenario would be coming home after a long day at work (idk i feel like doing patrols would be like her main thing). she probably had a rough day with the lingering infected, and came back with a few injuries. the moment she stepped through the door, sheâd be calling for you. wrapped in your arms, smelling like the outdoors, youâd slowly undress her and then run a bath. she loved when youâd cater to her in that wayâcleaning her cuts, washing her skin from dried blood and dirt. after all that, youâd cuddle in bed, pillow-talking until her eyes shut before yours.
âgoodnight, els.â smooch.
ellie! was a little iffy when it came to holidays, but when it came to your birthday it was a special affair. jackson was a healthy and happy little bubble, but because the idea of loss wasnât foreign to herâcelebrating her loved ones was very important to her.
if you didnât like grand gestures, sheâd keep it lowkey. maybe throwing a little surprise for the two of you at home; cooking you dinner, having a movie night, and giving you little trinkets she found on the road. or painting something for you in secret, then giving it to you as a gift.
speaking of cookingâŠ
ellie! has thing for making good food. a part of me feels like joel put her on when she was young, and after he died (yeah, iâm sorry) she made an effort to keep it up. playing guitar was much harder for her since she only had two fingers and a thumb on her left handâso she decided to pick up something else to stay close to him.
so every chance she can get, she cooks for you or both of you. when you would go on patrols, youâd make sure to pick up cook books from before the outbreak since she found them so fascinating. and you loved being her little food guinea pig. spoiler: she was a fast learner so her cooking skills were pretty good.
ellie! 100% taught you to play the song (that we all know and love) that joel taught her on the guitar. and whenever you knew she needed to hear it, youâd play it for her. and, i swear on everything, thereâd be tears in her eyes every time.
and for some freaky stuff⊠(i wonât get into crazy detail but i just wanna be thorough ;D)
ellie! just loves loving you⊠making love to youâdoing everything that she can to almost prove that youâre everything to her (not that she needs to but she does it anyway).
meaning: at the very best, sheâs a service!top. however, i can get behind her being a switch/verse (or maybe iâm bias lmao).
ellie! probably wouldnât strap as often as the fanfics show. especially being in this apocalyptic worldâwhere would you get them?? if they werenât hella old⊠and, i feel like sheâd think they were a little silly (but if you wanted to try it, sheâd oblige because what you say goes).
ellie! loves to watch the expressions of your features contort into visuals of pleasure. itâs how she knew she was being good for youâdoing everything that you asked but better!
your first time: of course she was super awkward. not really knowing where to put her hands at first. but once the heat began to rise, and your bodies began to press together, her entire energy changed! sheâs her most confident when sheâs in service to someone (in some way)âso she makes it her prerogative to make you feel good and comfortable. you werenât really expecting that from her, though. it only took one airy moan coming from your lips for her to completely flip the script.
her hands were firmly delicate, and she made sure to be very vocal in your ears and over your body.
overall, ellie williams is a very attentive lover. in many ways than just one.

this may be the cringiest thing ever but I've wanted to expand my little sonic au for my ocs for a bit now, so I'm going to do this for the sonic version of my oc, tater tot! This will primarily focus on how my favorite characters feel about said oc. this is your last warning bc i dont wanna see or hear anyone in the comments complaining about how 'cringe' it is. Also, these are just general head canons. Which means I'm not following any specific version of Sonic (though I might favor sonic boom because it's my favorite đ€·ââïž) ok! so.... context: Tater tot in the Sonic fandom au is a little sea angel who accidentally flew into a powerline, and is permanently cursed with the iq of a hotdog.
How does (canon character) feel about your OC? - Sonic might be annoyed with her because of how slow she can be sometimes. However, I don't think he would outright dislike her. It would be more of an 'oh here we go' followed by a sigh when he realizes that she's incidentally become part of one of his missions. He would still treat her like any of this other friends though. - Shadow would feel the same way as Sonic, but more extreme in terms of how he has to deal with her iq. He would usually make some sort of remark but in the classic shadow way. She ends up responding something unintentionally funny because it's hard to hurt her feelings (and she didn't pick up on what he said anyway).
How does your OC feel about (canon character)? Tater tot enjoys Sonic's company the most, and thinks he's pretty cool đ Tater tot is confused by Shadow, but he's fascinating to her. Kind of like watching a caterpillar going about its business. That's how she views him.
Has your OC ever made (canon character) laugh? / What about cry? Tater tot has accidentally made Sonic laugh, not so much Shadow. He's a tough crowd.
Do your OC and (canon character) ever cross paths? Tater tot and Sonic usually cross paths often enough to know each other, but she isn't apart of most of the main adventures. As for Shadow, she just ends up where she is. Think Garfield and Jon.
Which canon character annoys your OC? N/A... she doesn't get annoyed by anyone really.
What canon character gets annoyed by your OC? Shadow for sure.
Which canon character respects your OC most? What gained that respect? Sonic respects Tater tot because while she's not the brightest, she sticks to what she knows is right and wrong no matter the circumstance. She'll help anyone who needs it, whether or not they've been mean to her.
Which canon character doesnât respect your OC whatsoever? N/A
Which canon character does your OC respect a lot? Tater tot respects Sonic because he's brave and is always there for his friends. He's also kind to her. Deep down inside, she's somewhat aware of her lack of intelligence and it makes her slightly insecure when meeting new people. She's afraid they'll get tired of having to help her constantly.
Which canon character does your OC not respect at all? Why? N/A
Which canon character is pissed off by the general presence of OC? (we all have those people) I can't truly think of one, but I feel like Eggman would just be on 10 every time he saw her. She always ends up accidentally messing up something.
Does your OC have a crush on anyone? tiny crush on Sonic, but she doesn't even know it.
Who would probably have a crush on your OC? N/A... I don't know really?
Who would your OC most likely to get a puppy-crush on? (but it canât be the cc theyâre actually shipped with!) She would most likely have a puppy crush on Amy! she's bright and bubbly and Tater tot loves being around happy people.
Who would your OC say is their best friend? Probably Amy!
Who would call your OC their best friend? Amy.
Who has brought your OC to tears before? Probably Shadow, after one of the rare times she understood what insult he hurled at her.
Who has your OC made cry? Shadow. (It's not that bad, she's generally sensitive)
Is there someone your OC didnât like at first, but then got along with later? Nope! She's an easy person to get along with.
Is there someone your OC liked at first, but then grew to dislike? N/A
Who does your OC hate? N/A
Who does your OC love? (platonic)
Sonic and Amy.
Who does your OC love? (familial) She doesn't have any family (right now)
Does your OC love anyone? (romantic) Love is a strong word. I have no idea if she loves anyone currently, but a slight crush might be there.
Has your OC ever had to let a canon character down easy? N/A
Has your OC ever been rejected by a canon character? N/A
Did your OC bear witness to anyoneâs full character arc? N/A
What is the worst thing your OC does in their story? Probably putting her friends in harms way when being asked something. She's a very honest person and sometimes doesn't get when she should or shouldn't say something.
What is your OCâs ââdarkness momentââ in the plot? N/A
What is your OCâs redemption moment? N/A
Is there a canon character that your OC needs to ask forgiveness towards? N/A
Is there a canon character your OC needs to forgive? N/A
Is there anyone who your OC would die for? N/A
Is there a canon character who would die for your OC?

How their kid breaks their heart  â Jujutsu Kaisean
( cw ) f!reader, fluff, domestic, kinda hurt/comfort but not really hehe just butt hurt husbands, breastfeeding Â
featuring. Gojo Satoru, Choso Kamo, Nanami KentoÂ
authors note. I havenât written anything in so long I think I forgot how to. Anyway, I love dilfs â€ïž JJK dilfs are my favorite thing ever.
CHOSO KAMOÂ
Chosoâs infant has been screaming for what felt like hours, he has a clean diaper, there arenât any tags on his clothes that may be bothering him, heâs swaddled tightly, and he refuses to drink the lukewarm bottle Choso made him so that must mean heâs not hungry, right? Choso just wanted to be able to do this himself, take care of his baby, and not depend on you so much but when you step into your bedroom after returning home, he almost starts crying too. âI-I canât-â He stutters, eyes wide as you make your way into your shade bed. âHey, hey itâs okay baby.â You whisper as your hand moves to cup the side of his face. You lift his head and kiss him a few times before reaching for your baby. He continues to scream before you give him your breast. He settles down almost instantly. âHe hates me.â Choso almost whimpers as he lays his head on your shoulder, the both of you looking down at the little boy. âNo, he doesnât, I promise you he doesnât.â You say, reaching down to kiss his forehead. âI tried to feed him and he just turned his head and screamed, it felt like he was cursing me.â He grumbles, rubbing at the babyâs swaddled feet. âThatâs because he itâs used to the bottle, heâd rather have a boob, rather suck the nipple than the bottle tip.â You explain to your husband. âWell, at least he takes at me in that regard.â âYouâre disgusting.âÂ
GOJO SATORUÂ
âDaddy look, itâs Uncle âGuru!â Your daughter squeals as she grabs a photo from the pile on the floor between your little family. You guys were supposed to be making a scrapbook but Satoru and your daughter werenât much of a help. âYes, that is Suguru baby! Thatâs from when we were back in high school and look mommyâs there tooâ Satoru smiles at the photo. âWere you and Mommy married?â She asks with a smile on her face. âNo, not yetââ âIâm gonna marry Uncle âGuru!â She exclaims, looking at her father with a huge smile on her face as the thought infiltrates her mind. Satoru feels his heart sink into his stomach. This canât be happening. âHeâll be the bestest husband in the whole world Daddy!â âWhat about me baby? Wouldnât you rather marry someone like Daddy?â He whines trying to take this picture out of her hands. âNope! I wanna marry Uncle âGuru! Youâre too stinky.â She side-eyes him before going to sit next to you, picture still in hand. Satoru just stares at her, mouth slightly agape as she smiles down at the old picture. You lean over the scrapbook and pat your husbandâs knee. âWell, âToru thatâs another one of our daughters that would rather marry Suguru. Better luck next time.â  Â
NANAMI KENTOÂ
âCome to Daddy!â âNo come to mommy!â You playfully shove at Nanamiâs shoulder. Your baby stares at you two from a few feet away with curiosity. You guys were doing that trend that was circling social media, set your baby across the room and see who they crawl to. âDaddy lets you eat some of his solid foods, come to me, sweetheart.â Nanami pats the floor, motioning for your baby to come his way. Your baby starts to crawl slowly, looking at both of you, questioning who he wants to crawl to. âMommy has an endless supply of food on her right now, Daddy doesnât have any on him! Come to Mommy!â You tap at the hardwood floors. Your baby seems to make up his mind then and rushes to you. Nanami frowns as you jump up and celebrate. He was certain you he would crawl to him. âHa! I win you lose! Mommyâs the best!â You laugh and soon enough your son starts to laugh too and even though Nanami is a little hurt he canât help but smile and join his little familyâs celebration.Â

Make Her Happy
|| Sevika x fem!mother!reader
|| Warnings; reader's sore and exhausted, reader has a daughter named Laye, Sevika soft for reader and daughter, Sevika referred to as 'Seviki' by Laye, brief swearing, brief hint at sex
|| Summary; reader gets home from work, but she's exhausted when her daughter and Sevika come to greet her.
Requests closed!
Started; November 14th
Finished; November 14th
Request; Sevika x reader with a child
~~~
Living in Zaun wasn't easy. Especially when you had a child to take care of. At least you weren't alone anymore. It'd been years since the child's father left, barely even staying around for the delivery. Not that you cared. He was a piece of shit, anyway. And besides. You had someone who was a million times better than he'd ever been; Sevika. She kept you safe. She helped take care of your daughter, Laye. It was adorable. Watching someone as terrifying, muscular and tall as Sevika was play with a child.
You'd just gotten back home after a long shift down at one of the bars. Every muscle in your body was screaming for rest. Work wasn't easy, it never was. But it was one of the better jobs in this dump. "I'm home!" Your voice rang out through the apartment. Having gotten it with Sevika's benefits (aka Silco), it was nice. As nice as any place could be in Zaun. You heard the movement first. Before seeing your six year old daughter come running to you, followed by Sevika's large figure. Her head just barely missed the ceiling. With her being 6'1.
"Momma!!" Your daughter jumped into your arms and you grunted, holding her close with a sigh. Kissing her forehead that she rested on your shoulder.
"Hi, baby." You murmured, idly stroking her back. "Were you good for Sevika?" You asked, Sevika didn't miss the exhaustion in your tone. Or the way your face scrunched up when you daughter jumped in your arms. She couldn't help feeling impressed by you. Being able to work long days in a crowded, rowdy bar and then come home and have to be a mother to your daughter. Not getting much rest between it all. Definitely didn't sound easy. Especially since she now knew what parenting was like, having gotten to experience it with Laye.
"Yeah!!" Laye smiled, snuggling up to you. Completely nose blind to the bar smell that lingered on your clothes. As it did every day when you got home. You looked up to Sevika for confirmation and she gave a subtle nod. The soft look in her eyes was more than enough to convince you, she didn't even need to nod.
"That's good." You sighed quietly, placing a quick kiss to Laye's cheek. Getting a giggle out of her. You knew with your exhaustion, you wouldn't be able to stand and hold her at the same time. Laye was getting a little too big for that. Sevika seemed to notice, wondering why you were on the ground for so long before she put it together. Sevika bent down to one knee, non prosthetic arm gently touching Laye's back. There was a gentleness to her that wasn't often seen by anyone. You loved having the privilege to see it.
"Laye, let's let your mother rest." Sevika's voice comes out with a husk to it, but gentler than her usual tone. Obviously not wanting to give Laye any reason to be upset or fear her. However there was still a sense of command to it. Trying to get the little girl away. Even if just for a moment so you could get in.
"Noooo!" Laye whined, burying herself into you. You frowned a bit and tried not to immediately hold her. It was hard not to just wrap your arms around her and hold her tight. You knew Sevika was right; cause you desperately needed a moment.
Sevika's eye twitched and you knew she was trying not to let her emotions get the best of her. Reminding herself that this was a kid, not some punk that she could yell at. Plus she wasn't just any kid. She was your kid.
"Baby..." You took a moment to think on it. What could convince her to let go of you? "Hey, you got that new tea set. Right? How about you see if Sevika will play with you?" You suggested, which seemed to get your daughter to just light up. Meanwhile Sevika's eyes widened when she looked at you. You could tell she wasn't overly thrilled, the soft red of her cheeks giving her embarrassment away. You tried not to laugh, giving her a silent promise that you would make it up to her later.. she caved at that. Knowing exactly the kind of promise you had in store.
"We could have a tea party!! Wait but Seviki you no have a dress." The girl pouted at 'Seviki', which was what Laye had taken to calling Sevika. Sevika gritted her teeth, realizing she would have to figure out a solution so your daughter was happy. The things she does for you...
"Uh.." Sevika looked around the room, spotting a blanket and walking over. It wasn't super colourful or anything but she could make it work. She wrapped the blanket around herself in a way that covered her chest but left her shoulders out. "How's this? You can pretend it is a dress."
Laye's eyes lit up and she giggled," okay!!! You look silly, Seviki." She laughed. Sevika rolled her eyes and gave you a look before walking to the dining room with your daughter. You held back a laugh, trying desperately not to laugh at your poor girlfriend who looked utterly unhappy. Her in that blanket though was absolutely adorable. The blanket barely went past her knees, as it was meant to cover you. Not her. And you can tell behind all the grumpiness, she really did like hanging out with Laye. Otherwise she wouldn't have put in the effort to make her happy.
"I missed this, mama." Hazel sighed, pulling away her cup of hot chocolate. Azriel smiled, looking over at his daughter, sitting next to his now son in law, Kaden.
What did I say? He was going to take away my daughter.
Y/n raised her brows. "Itâs barely been a week since youâve last had it."
Hazel grimaced. "Yeah, and his hot chocolate does not compare."
"Hey thatâs mean!" Kaden sputtered, choking on his own drink.
"Yeah, stop being mean to my son."
Hazel rolled her eyes, turning to her father.
"Dad, come on, tell me a story." She had always been fond of listening to stories, and Az, wanting to make his daughter happy, had begun the new habit of telling stories every night.
Azriel glanced at his wife as she settled in next to him, warmth spreading in his chest. No matter how long theyâd been married for, even just the sight of Y/n filled Azriel with happiness. Just as it had back when he had first seen her in the market, giggling with her friends over something.
"What do you want to hear about?"
Hazel leaned back, contemplating before perking up. "How you met mom and got married."
Azrielâs cheeks warmed, and he prayed his wife did not notice.
"Look dad, youâve always said I was too young to know, but now I am even married. I want to know."
Azriel sighed, looking to his wife for help.
"Yeah Az, I wanna know the story too." Y/n grinned, not meeting his eyes.
Knowing he would not be allowed to leave without reliving his most embarrassing moments, he got comfortable in his chair.
"I saw her in the market one day. She was with her friends, and I instantly knew I was going to marry her one day."
She had been so ethereal, and she was in just a simple flowy dress. Her hair had been pinned out of her face, the breeze softly playing with the strands the way Azriel wished he could. Her smile, it could have brought him to his knees. And her sparkling eyes spoke of kindness far more louder than actions, the love and compassion for her fellow fae shining through every blink.
"Did you ever write her love letters and poetry?"
Azriel scoffed, focusing on the dark dregs at the bottom of his cup. "Me? I donât have to resort to poetry."
Azriel felt his wifeâs gaze on him, and he could picture her perfectly, sitting there, eyebrows raised in a are you sure about that? gesture.
"Yeah, he just ended up drowning in the river trying to impress me."
Azriel turned to glare at Y/n accusingly, who simply shrugged. "Now Az, lying is bad. Someone has to tell the truth."
Azriel grumbled, then again began. This time, truthfully. "Feyre needed some paint supplies from the market, and because I was free, I offered to get them for her."
°âąÂ°âąÂ°âąâđââąÂ°âąÂ°âąÂ°
Azriel never thought he would ever ask someone for a romantic day out. After all, he never had to do that. He would just give females a glance and they would ask him to spend time with them themselves.
But this time, it was not happening. The female in the market square barely spared him a glance when he sidled up to her, pretending to look at all the brightly coloured pots on display at the stand she was giggling with her friends over.
"Y/n, that pot would look so good with your couch!"
Y/n. That name would certainly look good with Azrielâs name next to it.
"Yes Cindy, Iâm going to cook on my couch."
Azriel smiled down at the pot in his hands, biting his cheek.
"It certainly is beautiful though." He mumbled, voice low so only Y/n could hear as her two other friends started bickering. He felt her stiffen before she glanced at him.
"That it is. But I donât think Iâm in need of more things."
Azriel swallowed, nodding. "You live near?"
Finally, he gathered the courage to meet her narrowed eyes. "Why do you ask?"
He smiled with a confidence he did not feel. "Where will I pick you up from for our dinner tomorrow then if you donât tell me?"
She reared back as if his words had a physical impact on him.
"I- Iâm sorry, Iâm not interested."
Azriel blinked. But before he could say anything, she had grabbed her friendsâ hands and dragged them away.
But from the slight blush on her face, he knew that he only needed to try and she would agree.
He bought the pot she had been eyeing so longingly just moments before, then hurried to go get the paints Feyre had asked for.
He was so sure he wouldnât have to resort to poetry.
°âąÂ°âąÂ°âąâđââąÂ°âąÂ°âąÂ°
The next day, Azriel was back at the market square, trying to figure out which direction she had gone. He had probably been wandering around aimlessly when he spotted the beautiful head of the lady he was so enthralled by.
"Hey. Pleasant day." He said as he fell in step beside the unsuspecting female.
She jumped, wide, frantic eyes meeting his own. Exasperation spread through her features as she realised it was him.
"You- what are you doing here?"
He shrugged, grinning as he held his gloved hand out. "Iâm Azriel."
Her brows furrowed. She probably thought Azriel was loose in the head. "Y/n."
"Beautiful name for a beautiful lady."
She sighed. "Look, Iâve already told you Iâm not interested."
"Why not?"
She paused. "I donât like males who think theyâre entitled to my time."
He nodded sagely. "Me neither. I hate people like that. But look at this like this, I want to get to know you. Maybe this could be something-"
She sighed. "No. Sorry."
Azrielâs palms turned sweaty. He had found her again, he did not want to let her go without getting something out of this. Even one evening of talking was enough. "I- I am the high lordâs shadowsinger."
Her gaze hardened. "Are you threatening me?"
His eyes widened. "No! I could never! Iâm just tryingâŠ"
"Trying what?"
"To make you interested in me. It has worked before."
She rolled her eyes. "I donât like males who try to entice me by stating their high powers."
Panic seized Azriel. This was going very wrong very quickly, and he did not like it one bit.
"I did not mean it that way-"
"Really, sir, I do not care what you meant and what you didnât. Just leave me alone."
Azriel was left gaping after her, breathing heavy.
Fuck.
°âąÂ°âąÂ°âąâđââąÂ°âąÂ°âąÂ°
Azriel balled up another paper, throwing it behind him before clutching his head.
He had decided that being arrogant and trying to keep up his records of never having to resort to poetry would not help him.
Your eyes like the sun,Shining so beautiful,Your hair like waterfall,You-
Was Azriel truly so bad at poetry?
He was doomed.
She wouldnât give him the time of day, evident by her refusal to even acknowledge him the three times he had tried to interact with her after that day at the market, and he was losing hope. He had sent countless letters and poems already to her house through his shadows, and he still had received no response.
Maybe he was well and truly doomed.
°âąÂ°âąÂ°âąâđââąÂ°âąÂ°âąÂ°
"You know, I still have all those letters and poems."
Azrielâs head whipped to look at his wife, eyes wide. "Why?"
She shrugged, getting up from the couch and taking the cup from Hazel and kaden, both who grinned unabashedly.
"You think I would burn or throw away letters of desperation sent by the spymaster?" Y/n snorted. "Let me get them for you, children."
"No!" Azriel semi-yelled, shooting to his feet before dashing into their bedroom, hoping to stop her before she even tried to reveal all his secrets.
Loud laughter followed the frantic spymaster, but he did not care. All he cared about was finding those letters and burning them, or maybe atleast hiding them away so his wife couldnât tease him about it.
He had a reputation to uphold, after all.
This is a literal nightmare.
He can see her cheery orange sweater from the doorway, glowing under the sodium desk lamp. As if the library wasn't hateful enough, with it's enforced hush, they had to make everything hard to fucking see too. Ugh, great, she's got fucking note cards! Pink ones!
âWheeler,â he growls at her, hoping to startle her with his slammed history book.
Unfortunately it doesn't work, only earns him a shush and a few annoyed glares from fellow patrons.
Wheeler looks up from under her lashes, quietly entertained if anything. âMunson. Glad you could finally make it.â
âYeah well,â he straddles the wooden desk chair, âgot caught up sacrificing virgins. You know how it is.â
She rests her pointed chin onto her hand. âSo you trekked up to the middle school?â
Shit. Does she have a sense of humor?
âYeah⊠Anyway, I'm here now. What torture have you got in store?â He eyes the note cards warily.
âNot these.â She swiftly wraps a rubber band around them and tucks them back into her bag. âI think I know what your issue is.â
âChildhood neglect?â
She gifts him with a snort. âMaybe. I was referring to your complete lack of interest in US History.â
âYou can't make me care about it, Wheeler, that's not how this works.â
Her eyes do something that feels patronizing but also like maybe she knows something he doesn't.
It becomes apparent, hours later, that he shouldn't have thrown that gauntlet. Nancy Wheeler is a certified genius. No wonder St- Mmm, no.
âI can't believe you did it,â he admits after successfully passing her pop quiz. âHow did you⊠I mean, I literally just learned all that against my will.â
âEasy. You like Tolkien, right?â
That takes him aback. He stares back at her for a second. â...yeah?â
âSo you can absorb details when it's something you're interested in. All I had to do was make it interesting.â
Wow. Yeah, that actually makes sense now that he thinks about it. All she did was humanize the people involved, make them real. He couldn't care less about memorizing the dates of the battles but knowing forty-five hundred men died from Cholera that winter, seven hundred more from infection, it did something to Eddie's brain, forced it to latch on.
âHuh. What are you doing tutoring an idiot like me? You should be getting tenured at Yale or whatever.â
She does something no girl has done to Eddie since the fifth grade, she reaches out and holds his hand. He's too confused to pull away.
âYou're not stupid. You're not even apathetic, not really. It's just that no one has ever bothered to teach you in a way that speaks to you. I want you to know that.â
He blinks at her. âOkay. Um. Kinda hard to keep hating you if you're gonna say shit like that.â He tries to laugh it off but she just keeps staring up at him with those big, blue eyes.
âYou don't have to hate me, Eddie.â
What the fuck? Why is there a sudden undertone here?
âSure thing, Wheeler. We should-â He doesn't have much to gather but he uses the little bit he did bring to avoid eye contact. She's gathering her things a lot slower and for some reason Eddie can't make himself leave her here. Fucking stupid white knight syndrome. âHey, uh, how'd you know I like Tolkien?â
She doesn't look up from wedging a folder into her bag as she says, âSteve told me.â
Eddieâs nervous system goes ice fishing.
When he doesn't, can't, respond, she looks up, sees him staring, wide eyed and shaking. Instead of doing anything to calm him, she makes it worse by saying, âHe talks about you more than he realizes. I might've actually been scared of you if I didn't know you have a favorite Christmas movie and that you stress bake.â
This isâŠcruel? He's not sure what her motive is. Shove their happy relationship in his face? She shouldn't want to do that, because she shouldn't know that Steve and Eddie wereâŠanything. There's no way Steve told her that. The fact that he can feel that his face has gone white and he hasn't responded yet probably isn't doing him any favors.
âI can see there's some confusion happening.â Eddie nods, slowly, certain only that, if anything, he's confused. âOkay,â she drawls. âI feel like you're a cool person to talk to, that I can trust you. You'reâŠsafe?â
âSure?â He has no idea where this is going.
âRight. You know my friend Barb,â she waits for his nod before explaining, âwell we've been friends forever. Like, kindergarten forever. And one day, almost out of the blue, we get the idea to try out for Color Guard.â Yeah right. Wheeler and Holland are the last two girls Eddie can picture joining any kind of team sport activity, but he keeps following her story anyway. âWe're practicing, right, and we've got ourâŠflagsâŠand we see each other's...flags...and we realize, we don't likeâŠsports. So we quit and decided to do our own thing. Yeah?â
Holy shit. No way. There's no fucking way. Except Wheeler is nodding along with Eddie's shock, as if to say, âYeah, you're getting it.â
He laughs, quiet so as not to alert anyone. The library is nearly empty but they're not the last ones left.
Eddie has to rub his eyes to stave off an impending headache but all in all this session has been quite eye-opening.
âThat was pretty slick, I have to admit.â
She shoots him a wicked grin. âIt usually is.â
âAh gross! Don't make it weird.â
Now they're both laughing. Christ.
âI am cool. For the record. Scouts honor.â He holds up the devil horns just to make her laugh again, which she does.
âI know you're cool, Eddie. Inside scoop, remember?â
So much for their budding friendship. The reminder that Steve has said anything about their sharedâŠwhatever that wasâŠputs him right back in the frozen pond.
âSteve and I weren't-â He lowers his voice. âThat wasn't anything. I don't know what he told you but-â
âHe misses you.â
Eddie's frozen guts shatter. Nancy doesn't even have the decency to let him scoop them up before she goes in for the kill.
âHe'd be livid if he knew I told you that but it's true. He hates the way he ended it. Thinks you hate him for it, could never forgive him. But you wanted to hate me. Didn't you? Those aren't the feelings of a man indifferent to Steve's life.â
He trembles like an animal caught in a snare. âWhy are you telling me this?â
A bittersweet look crosses her face, she looks over at the people sitting four desks over. âI know why he ended it. AndâŠit's not like his reasons have suddenly disappeared. We both know things are precarious for us,â she meets his eye again to make sure he understands, of course he does, âbut he's different now. Changed. A good friend. A person who deserves second chances. Deserves to be happy. He said you made him really happy.â
A traitorous tear slips down his cheek. He brushes it away, angry and embarrassed.
This was really fun, Eds, but I can't risk it anymore.
The worst part was, he couldn't argue the first bit. They did have a lot of fun.
God, he misses Steve too.
âIf you've moved on, that's okay, I get it. No harm done, like I said, he doesn't even know we had this conversation. But, if you were wondering if he still thinks about you, the answer is yes.â
He nods. That's all he can do at the moment. She cups a tiny hand around his clenched fist and squeezes.
âOh! Also, I'm thinking of starting an unofficial after school club. You too cool to hang out with me outside of school?â
Whiplash would feel like a pleasant massage compared to this woman, lord have mercy.
âWhat kinda club?â He asks gamely.
âFriends of Dorothy. You don't think it's just us waving flags, do you?â
Eddie's attention is caught mid-rant by the abhorrent sounds of Carol and Tommy H.
"Oh, Steve! Steve, oh, God, Steve-"
Eddie turns in time to see a pretty blush fill Steve's cheeks. Ah, he must have finally slept with the Wheeler chick. She's seated next to him, looking less than pleased about Steve's friends.
From what Eddie can remember, that's actually the opposite of what sleeping with Steve is really like. He's the noisy one, the one who moans and whines and whimpers when he's feeling so good.
"Fuck, Eddie, you feel so perfect-"
"Yeah, right there, Eds-"
"Keep going, I'm gonna, Eddie, Eddie, Eddie-"
"Eddie!"
"Yeah!" He turns away from King Steve and back to the rest of the Hellfire club.
"You were saying, about that cantrip?"
"Right," he says, shaking off old memories. Now isn't really the time to be revisiting them, anyway.
i finished Harding's quest... whew... i don't like Harding. or i should say i don't like how nice the game treats her. she gets all of the emotional beats around the lore revelations while the elves are left to go kick rocks.
i pointed this out previously in another post, but the dwarves (and Harding specifically, and thus by extension Andrastians, too) get so much more sympathy from the game than any of the elves. you can clearly see it just in these two screenshots-- compare dialogue choices when comforting Harding after the reveal about the Golden City (and also important to note that the game assumes my elf is Dalish multiple times before this choice, but for some reason i can suddenly make her Andrastian):
versus the first real discussion you get to have with Bellara about the truth of the elven gods:
Bellara implies that everyone is right not to trust the elves, actually, because the elven gods (the same ones that enslaved her people btw) are bad and we should all feel bad about it.
and Davrin is unfortunately distanced from the Dalish, remarking that they're too traditional and stuck in the past (a racist trope that Dragon Age really loves for the elves), and only seems to care about how the elven gods make elves "look bad." we do get to see Davrin reconnect with one of the members of his clan later, which is a sweet moment that shows us a new side of him, but it exists more so to push along the griffon storyline than anything to do with Davrin (a problem i find quite annoying when it comes to Davrin's writing... they care more about Assan and "turlum" than him or his feelings. but that's a different post)
when we finally get to Heart of Stone, Harding has her big, emotional confrontation with a titan, and gets granted the memory of the titan's loss and all of their pain. she says some Choice lines, here.
who is thriving? the elves that were enslaved en masse by the Evanuris? the elves that are still enslaved and live in alienages? that are wholly, systemically oppressed throughout Thedas? then to follow it up with both of these lines, spoken to an elven Rook:
and i understand that this is the titan speaking through Harding, and we can be generous and say that they are addressing the Evanuris, and not elf Rook personally. but. uh. why doesn't my elf get to Say Anything. it's repeatedly insinuated that everything is the elves' fault, that the elves should feel guilty and that they should be held responsible for what happened to the dwarves (and by extension, the blight and everything bad that's ever happened including what's happening right now), and that they deserve to suffer because of what "they" did to the titans.... and there's no option to challenge this line of thinking at all.
and it's really frustrating that none of the elven companions are allowed this kind of emotional catharsis with the Evanuris. up until that one (bad) dialogue with Bellara, all of Bellara's comments/her reactions to the gods are treated as comic relief. none of them get to grieve their gods like Harding is allowed to grieve the titans-- they're not even allowed to be as angry with Solas as Harding is in some scenes. even Andrastians, in that one single dialogue choice, were afforded more sympathy and grief than the elves in this game.
it's a baffling choice, considering the plot, that elves are given so little grace or consideration. and i do think part of it has to do with the way this game has tried to distance itself from previously established lore as well as scrub itself clean of anything morally dubious-- it's all black and white and the game needs someone to blame, so the elves are bad because the Evanuris are bad, nevermind all that other stuff, because see, the elves actually deserved it all along! i donât even think itâs unreasonable that Harding may have these feelings (even if theyâre racist lol) but the fact you just have to accept Blame and the narrative never challenges her or Bellaraâs guilt or Davrinâs apathy and instead just agrees with all of them and forces Rook to agree as well is shitty and takes it from âthis character feels this wayâ to âthe game is implying that everyone feels this way, and also that theyâre right.â
it's really unfortunate because i do think this reveal about the titans and why the dwarves can't dream or use magic is exciting, it could cause some compelling conflict between the companions (but that's not allowed in this game at all unfortunately and you especially Cannot be even slightly rude to Harding, ever). and i do like the idea of her quest and what they're trying to convey here-- confronting this old, repressed trauma, and finding a way to reconcile with it and move forward.... but not at the expense of the elves, who also suffered massively at the hands of the Evanuris (and continue to suffer. right now)
bioware has been criticized repeatedly about their depiction of the Dalish and even the mages, too, and i really do not understand what they were thinking with this, because it's just racist (and exactly what people have repeatedly criticized them for). this is why a lot of "fantasy racism" fails. you can't write a marginalized group as being responsible and deserving of their own oppression, that's not how it works!
#datv spoilers#datv critical#i think. im over the hurdle at this point with the majority of my criticisms. unless something else really horrifically racist happens#but hopefully this is the last of my insufferable posts#im completely blind going forward i havent seen any other spoilers beyond this point (i checked out harding & taash's quest preemptively#after seeing people criticizing them)#kinda scared.#im finishing up lucanis's questline next i think. im p sure i have his final quest already and it's the last one i have before#blood of arlathan. besides the crossroads quests
something like love
part - 4
pairing - paige bueckers x azzi fudd
word count - 5.3k
c/w - language, small amount of angst, some hurt/comfort. also kinda problematic paige but i get her
a/n - guess whoâs endo cramps are killing her!! thatâs right, me! fml. as usual this is unedited but iâll come back to edit later! also, i changed paigeâs step-dadâs name from tim to dean because i remembered that azziâs dad is named tim and i felt like that would be confusing lol. also, thank you so much for all the fic recs i got! iâm so excited to start working on them :3
Theyâre ten minutes into the thirty-minute car ride and nobody has said a word. Country music is playing quietly over the radio, and Dean and Amy keep glancing at each other. But the awkward silence is deadly.
Nobody spoke earlier, either. After Paige dropped the bomb. It was silent for a good minute before Dean had coughed loudly and turned back to the car, getting wordlessly into the driverâs seat. Amy stared at them for another minute or so, giving them no clue as to what was going on in her head other than her ears, which rapidly turned bright red. Finally, sheâd shook her head and said, âWe will talk about this when we get home,â before following her husband into the car.
As soon as they were both out of hearing range, Paige had sagged, and Azziâd looked over at her, concerned. Usually, sheâd lay a hand on her arm but she wasnât sure if Paige wanted to be touched, especially by her, so instead sheâd said, âRemember, we can leave anytime.â
Paige had nodded stiffly. And then, without looking at Azzi, sheâd gotten into the car as well, leaving the door open for Azzi to follow suit.
And now theyâre on the road, Paige and Azzi sitting in the back seat like two little kids in trouble. Azzi wants to go on her phone to avoid the awkwardness but her parents raised her to be polite, no matter the circumstances, so here she sits, stiff and awkward while she rides in this car that smells new and fancy and she hates it.
Chancing a glance over, Azzi sees that Paige is still staring out the window, the same thing sheâs been doing the whole car ride, and Azzi hates that, too, because Paige only ever gets quiet when sheâs bone-tired or truly upset. And Paige got a pretty good nap on the plane.
Based off the way she acted to Azziâs words before they got on the road, Azziâs pretty sure sheâs doing that thing where she shuts people out because sheâs mad or on the verge of tears or thinking too hard. And when she does this she can get mean, because sheâs trying to protect herself, and it comes out all wrong.
Sheâs always done this, been reluctant to open up about the hard stuff, shut out the people who care about her. She and Azzi have talked about it a lot. She once admitted that Azzi was the first person to get her to actually talk about her feelings. But despite Azziâs way with Paige, and despite the fact that they just get each other in a way no one else ever has, they still have their flaws. Azzi still doesnât always know the right thing to say. And Paige still gets mean.
This fact keeps Azzi glued to her seat, thinking sidling closer and trying to comfort her best friend would only end badly. Azzi acts like she has a tough skin but often, the things Paige says when she gets like this cut deep, and it ends with both of them hurt. Sheâs scared to add a fight between the two of them onto whatever will surely go on with Paige and her parents later. So she stays put, even though every bone in her body is telling her to make Paige better.
Azzi has only managed this for maybe five minutes when she glances over again and notices that this time, Paigeâs hand is splayed over the middle seat, fingers tapping anxiously, almost like sheâs subconsciously reaching over. And that sight alone is enough to get Azzi sliding over, moving Paigeâs hand so she doesnât sit on it. Dean looks at her through the rearview, but Azzi pretends not to notice.
Paige doesnât look over when Azzi settles in beside her. But she does reach blindly for her hand before taking it and placing it in her own lap, playing with the fingers nervously. Azzi breathes in relief. Paige hasnât rejected her outrightâshe canât be too upset. At least not yet.
They sit like that for the remainder of the ride.
When they pull into the driveway, Paige gives Azziâs hand a squeeze before subtly shaking herself out and exiting the car. Azzi follows, afraid to be alone with Paigeâs parents for even a second.
Before Paige can close the door, Amy calls, âBring your bags into your room, Paige. And when youâre done come down and talk to us in the kitchen.â Thereâs a weighted pause. âAlone.â
Paige doesnât answer, just slams the door shut. Azzi winces.
Azzi doesnât say anything while Paige opens the trunk, or when she starts aggressively pulling their things out, or even when she slams the trunk shut. No, Azzi keeps her mouth shut, wanting to allow her best friend to seethe in peace, but when Paige slams into her shoulder when she passes her, Azzi doesnât want to let it slide. âOw! Paige, what the fuck?â
âGet your bags,â Paige responds gruffly.
Okay, so itâs gonna be one of those times. Perfect.
Despite not wanting to, Azzi does as sheâs told, gathering her bags and following Paige to the front porch. She tries not to think about how usually Paige wouldâve carried her things for her.
Paige opens the door without a word and they walk inside. The house is nice, open, smells of cedarwood. Paige doesnât give Azzi a chance to look around, though, instead walking briskly to the staircase, lugging her shit upstairs with impressive strength, and Azzi thanks God sheâs in such good shape because sheâs practically jogging by the time they arrive at a room at the end of the hall.
âPaigeââ Azzi starts to stay, but Paige cuts her off by throwing her own backpack off her shoulder and dropping her suitcases, as if sheâs trying her hardest to make as much a ruckus as possible.
Azzi places her things much more nicely on her usual side of the bed, eyeing Paige cautiously the entire time. Itâs the only reason sheâs able to catch her before she leaves, anticipating her movements just like she does on the court and darting between her best friend and the door, blocking her.
For the first time in nearly an hour, Paige looks her in the eye, and thereâs fire there. âMove, Azzi.â
âNo.â
âGod,â Paige sighs, âseriously, donât piss me off. Get outta my way.â
âNo, Paige,â Azzi repeats, keeping her feet planted.
Paige stares at her and then shakes her head. âWhy are you being so fuckinâ annoying?â
âDonât,â Azzi says, trying to stop her before she gets too fired up, but itâs already started.
âNo, Azzi, you donât,â Paige snaps. âI knew you were gonna get like this, do your fuckinâ peace and love shit that you think will solve everyoneâs fucking problems.â
Azzi swallows hard. Itâs been years since Paige went on a rampage like this, and she opens her mouth to stop her, but is quickly interrupted.
âIt doesnât solve anything, dawg. It actually makes shit worse, because itâs so motherfucking annoying having you acting like everythingâs fine when you donât even know.â Paige shakes her head, taking a step towards her. âAnd thatâs the thing, is you really donât know but you wanna pretend like you do. You donât know what itâs like to have your mom fuckinâ leave you for some fuckass guy, for her to have new kids outta state and raise them to be hateful just like her. Just like him.â
At this point, Azzi has tears in her eyes, and she attempts desperately to swallow them down. âDid you forget that my dad fucking left me when I was a baby? Iâve never even fucking talked to him, Paige. He doesnât want shit to do with me.â
âThatâs not the same and you know it.â Paige sends her a withering glare, so different from the way she usually looks at Azzi. âYou have Tim. You have your mom and your brothers and they all love you so fucking much.â
âYou have your dad!â Azzi responds, throwing her hands in the air. âYou have Drew, you have Alora!â A tear escapes, against her will, and she wipes it furiously away. âYou have me, Paige,â she says, more quietly now. âI love you so fucking much. So you donât get to take this shit out on me and say mean things to hurt my feelings. Thatâs notâitâs not fair.â
As soon as she sees the tears welling in Azziâs eyes, Paige softens, her shoulders slumping, eyes turning on her with guilt rather than venom. âAz, donât cry.â
For some reason, this makes Azzi more mad, and she turns away to face the door, always having hated crying in front of others. âWell if you say mean shit to me, Iâm gonna cry, Paige,â she mumbles, though thereâs not much fire to her weak, shaky tone.
âHey, no, youâre right,â Paige reaches for Azziâs shoulder, trying to turn her around, but the tears have started now and theyâre not going to stop anytime soon so Azzi stays turned firmly away. âAzzi, Iâm sorry, I didnâtââ Paige cuts herself off on a sigh. Her hand falls off Azziâs shoulder, and for a second Azzi thinks sheâs going to walk away, but then a pair of arms wrap tenderly around her waist and Paigeâs chin is wresting on her shoulder. âIâm sorry, I shouldnât haveâI was wrong for that, I shouldntâve said any of that shit.â When Azzi doesnât respond, instead burying her face in her hands to try and hide what sheâs sure is an ugly cry, Paige squeezes her tighter. âAzzi, please donât cry, Iâm really sorry. Fuck, Iâm sorry, for real. I didnât mean any of it, I was just so scared about my parents and I took it out on you, I fucked up.â
Azzi nods into her hands, taking a deep breath to try and stop the embarrassing flow of emotion. âI know, Paige,â she tries, but it comes out sort of as a whimper and this only makes Paige circle around to stand in front of her, full-on hugging her now, burying her face in her neck and rubbing her back soothingly.
Theyâre silent for another moment before Paige says, âIâm serious, Az. I didnât mean any of it.â
Azzi knows this, fundamentally, but thereâs still a part of her that sort of cracked at hearing her best friend tell her that she was annoying, that her efforts to help always fall flat. âYou shouldnât have said it, then,â she stutters, letting Paige hold her close even as her face doesnât come out of its hiding spot.
âI know, I know, I shouldnât have. Youâre the only person who can ever make me feel better and Iâfuck. Azzi, Iâm sorry, I canât believeâI never wanna hurt you.â Paige lifts her head out of her neck to nuzzle into Azziâs hair, pressing a kiss to the spot just behind her ear. âNever wanna make you cry.â She plants another kiss there, and Azziâs breath hitches. From the crying or from something else, she doesnât know.
Sighing shakily, Azzi finally pulls her head out of her hands to look up at Paige, placing her hands at her chest almost as if sheâs about to push her away. Sheâs sure her mascara is ruined by now but she canât bring herself to care too much. âIt really hurt when you shoved me outside, too.â
A pained expression flits over Paigeâs face, and she nods, looking almost sick. âFuck. IâmâIâm sorry, Azzi. Iâm so sorry. Is your arm okay? Does it still hurt?â
Azzi canât take the guilty look on Paigeâs face and shakes her head no. It doesnât seem to relieve much of anything.
Breathing deeply, Paige closes her eyes and then leans her forehead against Azziâs, bringing her hands up from her waist to stroke over her tear-stained cheeks. âIâm sorry, baby,â she whispers, and Azziâs knows that the nickname wasnât a slip-up this time, wasnât just a habit from their pretending. âIâm really fuckinâ sorry.â
And with that, Azzi isnât mad anymore. Her feelings are still hurt and the things Paige said are still going to replay in her head for quite some time, but at least for now, Azzi just canât be mad. Because Paige is going through something she could never imagine going through.
âIâm sorry, too,â Azzi breathes, and Paige rears back, but before she can protest, Azzi says, âabout your parents. About this wholeâŠsituation.â She looks down at her hands on Paigeâs chest, and, deciding she wonât be needing to push her away anymore, she slides them up to her shoulders. âItâs shitty and youâre right, I donât know what itâs like to be in your position.â She shrugs, swallowing back the last couple tears that threaten to fall, trying to regain at least some of her composure. âIâm going to be here for you, okay? I always am.â
Paige nods. âI know you will.â
âAnd that means,â Azzi goes on, âyou canât do this again. You canât take it out on me. You canât push me away. Because that makes it really fucking hard for me to help you, and I want to help you.â
Paige nods again, more solemnly this time, moving her hands back to circle her waist. âYeah, yeah, I know, and Iâm so sorry forââ
Azzi holds a hand up to Paigeâs lips, effectively shutting her up. âOkay, stop. I accept your apology, I promise. Just, show me youâre sorry and donât do it again, yeah?â
âYeah,â Paige says. ââCourse.â
âGood.â Breathing mostly even now, Azzi pulls Paige in for another hug.
With a heavy sigh, Paige hugs her back. âWeâre in it together, hm? From now on, together.â
Azzi rests her cheek on Paigeâs shoulder, the weight of her arms around her, the feeling of her skin and bones, so familiar. âYeah. Together.â
Paige pulls back just enough to look at her, and when Azzi reciprocates, sheâs uneasy to find that Paige is giving her that same new look. The perplexed, maybe enthralled?, almost worried look that has taken over her face more often than can be explained ever since the first time after their kiss. Azzi really wants to work out what it means.
But, as always, Paige corrects herself and itâs gone as fast as it arrived. âWeâre good?â
Azzi nods, smiling softly despite herself. âYeah, P. Weâre good.â
âââââââââââââ
Paige has been downstairs with her parents for nearly an hour.
From what Azzi can hear from her spot at the top of the stairs, it doesnât sound to be going too well. The three of them keep going from yelling to whisper-yelling to yelling again, and Azzi swears Amy has cried like five times at this point.
When Azzi hears Dean say, âWe just donât allow sinners in this house, Paige,â and Paige snap back, âDo not use God against me right now!â Azzi figures it might be time to intervene.
Trying to come up with something quickly, she pulls out her phone and dials Paigeâs number. She hears Paigeâs phone ring downstairs, and the three of them go quiet before Paige says, âJustâone second,â and then thereâs a click on the other line and sheâs answering. âUm, hi?â
âPretend Iâm your dad,â Azzi says, hoping sheâs not on speaker.
âWhat?â
âJust pretend Iâm your dad, Paige. Seriously.â
âUh, okay.â The line gets a little muffled and Paige says, âItâs dad.â Azzi can hear both Amy and Dean let out audible groans downstairs.
âOkay, now tell them that Iâyour dadâam offering to fly you home.â
âIâŠwhaââ Azzi can tell Paige wants to argue but canât with her parents right in front of her, so instead she sighs and the line goes muffled again. âHeâs, um, heâs offering to fly me home.â
Azzi only has a second to hope and pray that Amy shares Paigeâs competitive nature before Amy is saying, âWhat? You told him about this?â
âNo,â Paige answers, âhe just knows how youâre like now. And he wants Azzi and I to have a good summer, not a shitty one with shitty people.â
âIf you want to go back to your dadâs, go,â Dean says, and Azziâs heart sinks. Maybe this wonât work.
But then, bless her evil, horrible soul, Amy is stepping in. âNo. Absolutely not. I will never hear the end of it if we send you to your father after inviting you over. We justâŠâ Amy sighs, and Azzi thinks she can hear her start crying again. âWe want whatâs best for you, Paige.â
Itâs silent for a moment. And then, âLet me be happy, Mom. Let me see my siblings. Let me and my girlfriend have a good trip with yâall.â
Dean interjects. âWe really donât believe in this kind of stuff.â
âI donât care,â Paige replies viciously. âI love Azzi. It doesnât matter that sheâs a fuckinâ girl. IâŠâ Paige pauses, quite abruptly, and Azzi wonders if something happened. But then she hears a heavy inhalation and a quiet, âI love her, Mom.â
Azzi knows itâs for the act, but she canât help the way her stomach somersaults, hearing the words sheâs always wished Paige would say.
âAnd it doesnât matter what you think of it,â Paige continues. âIâm happy. My faith is strong. And what goes on between me and God isnât your fucking business.â
âLanguage,â Amy says immediately. But then itâs silent for another weighted moment and Azzi can imagine Amy and Dean sharing that knowing, judgmental look of theirs. Her heart races while she waits for a consensus, and sheâs sure itâs 100 times worse for Paige. But after a few moments, Amy says, âTell your father that youâre staying here with us. Your siblings will be home tomorrow morning. The four of us adults have a reservation at a restaurant tonight, and weâre all going to go.â
âMomââ
âWe will try,â Amy sighs. âAzziâs a nice girl. We willâweâll try.â Thereâs something tired in her voice when she says, âRight, Dean?â
No answer. But Azzi can imagine him nodding gruffly, and a moment later, with no more words from any of them, Paige appears at the bottom of the stairs. She startles a little when she sees Azzi sitting there at the top.
âHi,â Azzi says sheepishly, finally disconnecting their call. âI was eavesdropping.â
Paige stares at her, and then starts climbing the stairs, a small smile overtaking their face. âThanks for saving me.â
âI told you I would,â Azzi replies, waiting for Paige at the top. âSo. Dinner with your parents tonight.â
âYeah. I guess.â Paige gets to the second-top step and stays there, so sheâs just a little shorter than Azzi.
âDinner as a fake lesbian couple with your homophobic parents,â Azzi clarifies, and Paige laughs nervously.
âUh-huh,â she responds. âI think we needa nap before that.â
âOh, yeah,â Azzi agrees, pulling Paige up to stand with her. âThat is an amazing idea.â
ââââââââââââââ
Azzi is rudely awoken to none other than an old Tyler, The Creator song blasting through the tinny speakers of Paigeâs phone. Azzi groans, and she blindly reaches out for Paige to turn the damn thing off, but her hands only find cold bedsheets. Annoyed, Azzi cracks her eyes open and tries desperately to find Paigeâs phone, realizing in the process that Paigeâs side of the bed is cold. Strange, considering they still have two hours until dinner.
Finally, after probably thirty seconds of this stupid song playing over and over again, Azzi finds the phone tangled up in the bedsheets and slams the off button. Itâs sort of pointless, though, because now sheâs very much awake and will not be going back to bed.
She sits up in Paigeâs bed, rubbing her eyes and looking around the room. The sun is shining through the curtains, reflecting off the mirror above the vanity and showcasing the off-white walls, the pink door to the adjoining bathroomâwhich Azzi now realizes is in use, the sound of the shower muffled through the door. She hadnât noticed before because Paige isnât awfully singing to some Mariah Carey song. Other than the water, itâs dead quiet in there. She must be nervous.
Fiddling with the pink sheets, Azzi feels nervous, too. Usually, merely being in Paigeâs space comforts her, but this roomâit doesnât feel like Paige. It doesnât smell like her, and itâs too pink. Thereâs no purple at all, actually. And the vanityâPaige has never known how to do much else other than mascara. In high school, she needed Azzi to tell her what concealer was for, and to teach her how to curl her lashes. She certainly wouldnât have use for an entire vanity dedicated to makeup. The walls are also decorated with cringy, sort of Bible-thumping quotes and paintings of flowers. Thereâs not a single basketball poster.
No, this room isnât Paige at all and Azzi feels an ache in her heart, thinking about how out-of-place she must have felt whenever she came to visit as a kid. How out-of-place she must feel now.
Without Paige to talk to, and without her room to comfort her, Azzi settles for laying on Paigeâs side of the bed, burying her face in the blankets, and there she isâvanilla, like her hair products, and lavender, like the lotion she wears and the linen spray she uses, because it calms her down.
Azzi thinks she just might fall back asleep, enveloped in Paigeâs scent, but then the door to the bathroom opens and steam billows out just before Paige does, wrapped in a towel, hair wet down her shoulders. Azzi only has a second to ogle the water drops adorning Paigeâs collarbones before sheâs spotted, and Paige gives her a curious look. âYou still sleep? I left my phone here so the alarm would wake you up.â
âYeah, no, it did,â Azzi says, sitting up quickly, before she looks like a weirdo snuggling up in Paigeâs spot. âJust tryinâ to hype myself up for dinner.â
Paige gives her a commiserating look. âMe too. Iâm shitting my pants, for real.â
âThat why you couldnât sleep?â Azzi asks, stretching out her back and swinging her legs over the side of the bed.
Paige hums, bending down to rifle around in her suitcase. âIâon even know what to wear. Apparently itâs some fancy restaurant but Iâm not wearing a fucking dress.â
Azzi laughs at that, lifting her hands when Paige shoots a glare over her shoulder. âIâm serious, dawg! And itâs not like I brought a suit or nothing.â
âI think youâre overthinking it,â Azzi says, standing up. âJust wear jeans and tuck a t-shirt or something. Youâll look cute no matter what.â
Paige straights up and gives her a cocky grin. âYou think all that?â
âChill, P,â Azzi rolls her eyes, shoving Paigeâs shoulder a little.
âWhat were you doing on my side of the bed, anyway?â Paige asks, and Azzi canât help the way she freezes. Sheâd thought Paige hadnât noticed.
Trying to cover her reaction, she shrugs casually. âI didnât know you owned the right side of the bed.â
âNah, weâve always had our sides,â Paige shakes her head, taking a step closer. âWhy was you all cuddled up in mine?â
âOh, I dunno,â Azzi says, trying for sarcastic but she canât even really make eye contact, âmaybe I rolled over or something.â
âPlease. You donât move in your sleep.â
âMaybe I do. You donât know.â
âI think Iâve slept with you more often than Iâve slept alone,â Paige scoffs, taking a step even closer so that theyâre practically chest-to-chest. âI know damn well.â
âOkay, seriously,â Azzi says, taking a small step back and stumbling when her thighs hit the bed, âgo get dressed, you weirdo.â
âMm,â Paige says, pretending to think about it. But before Azzi can move away, she grabs her waist and they both fall onto the bed while Paige starts to tickle her like crazy.
âPaige!â Azzi screams, laughing so hard she almost canât breathe. âGetâoff, oh my God!â
Paige is laughing right along with her, and itâs a miracle her towel hasnât dropped yet. âTell me the truth!â
âWhat theâŠâ Azzi giggles and squeals when Paige goes for her armpit, âfuck!â
âI wonât stop âtill you admit it!â
âOkay, fuck, okay!â Azzi pushes Paige off her, and Paige lets up just enough for her to gasp and say, âIt smelled like you, okay? The sheets, theyâŠâ Paige has stopped completely now, staring at her with a shit-eating grin on her stupid face, âthey smell like you.â
âUh-huh,â Paige replies, âand you missed me so much while I was in the shower that you needed to smell my sheets?â She jabs her one more time in the ribs, making Azzi shriek, before rolling off her. âYou lil creep.â
âIt wasnât like that!â Azzi insists, even though thatâs exactly what it was like. âNow, seriously, go get dressed. You got me all wet.â
What Azzi means by that, of course, is that Paigeâs damp towel and sopping hair had transferred to Azziâs own clothes and hair. But Paige canât be normal about anything, so she looks over and grins slyly.
âDonât,â Azzi sighs.
âOh, no, itâs okay,â Paige says, sitting up in bed and pulling Azzi up with her. âYou donât gotta be embarrassed. I know I make a lotta girls wet.â
âStop being weird,â Azzi says, as Paige bends down once again to pull an outfit from her suitcase.
She begins walking back to the bathroom. âIâm not the one who gets turned on by tickling,â Paige calls over her shoulder. Just before she closes the bathroom door behind her, she says, âDonât worry, we can take care of you after dinner, mama,â and winks at her.
Azziâs shoe hits the door just as it clicks shut.
âââââââââââââ
They drive to the restaurant in silence.
Itâs similar to their car ride from the airport, though it is a little less tense than before. Paige isnât fidgeting too much beside her and her parents arenât giving each other looks the entire time. Thatâs gotta be a good sign.
When they arrive at the restaurant, Amy and Dean start chatting idly, Paige and Azzi trailing behind when they walk inside the fancy building and give the hostess their reservation.
Itâs only when theyâre finally seated that they are addressed.
âSo, girls,â Amy says, her voice all forced cheerfulness, âwhat looks good?â
âI dunno,â Paige mumbles, and Azzi kicks her under the table before saying, âHave you guys ever been here before?â
Amy looks a little startled at Azziâs voice, but she recovers quickly, looking over at Dean with a forced smile. âOh, yeah, we come here sometimes.â
Azzi smiles politely. âWhat do you suggest, then?â
âUm,â Amy says, and then she sort of jerks and Dean winces, and Azziâs sure Amy has also just kicked him under the table.
Apparently well-trained, he speaks immediately. âWe love the spinach ricotta.â
Azzi hums, then nudges Paige. âThat sounds good, right?â
âUhâŠâ Paige looks like she wants to be difficult, but then she sees the warning stare Azzi is giving her and straightens up a little, âyeah, yeah. Sounds good.â
âWanna share?â
Paige sighs, but luckily itâs barely audible. âYeah, sure. Letâs share.â
Azzi leaves herself out of the conversation after that, letting Paige answer her parentsâ conversation starters. When the waitress comes to take their orders, Paige gets a glass of wine for the both of them. Neither of them really like wine, but it seems classy enough and it might take the edge off just enough that they can actually get through the night unscathed.
Itâs not until their dinner arrives that Azzi is addressed again.
âSo, Azzi,â Dean says, out of nowhere, âHowâs the knee?â
Azziâs hand goes subconsciously to her surgery scars. âDoing better. PTâs been going good.â
âGood, good.â He leans back in his seat, and Azzi senses trouble. Something about the way Paige protectively rests her arm across the back of Azziâs seat makes her think she senses it, too.
âYou get injured a lot, huh?â He asks.
Azzi sort of hates the way her face gets hot, hoping it doesnât show up on her brown skin. âIâve torn my ACL twice, yeah.â
âAnd your meniscus, right?â he prods.
Without really noticing it, Azzi looks over to Paige, and thatâs apparently all Paige needs to jump in. âHey, letâs not talk about it.â
âWhy not?â Dean asks, scoffing. Amy is looking between the three of them nervously. âItâs hard not to talk about. Azzi, you donât even play basketball at this point.â
âUm,â Azzi replies, her instincts telling her to get hot-headed but with the way Paige is buzzing beside her, sheâs gonna need to keep her cool.
âWhat the hell?â Paige says, her hand going from the chair to Azziâs shoulder. She looks at Amy. âMom, you said this wouldnât happen.â
âYour father is just asking a few questionsââ
âHeâs not my fucking dad!â Paige exclaims, and Azzi jerks as sheâs pulled into Paigeâs side. âI already have a dad! He raised me, he loves me, Mom, and heâd never say this shit about Azzi.â Angrily, Paige stands up, tossing a few bills onto the counter and helping Azzi to stand beside her.
âSweetheart,â Amy says, reaching limply for her daughter while Dean sits beside her looking far too smug. âPaige, where are you going? Weâre your ride.â
âWeâll Uber,â Paige responds, wrapping an arm around Azziâs waist. âIâm not gonna make her sit through your bullshit because you donât know how to act like a decent fucking human being.â
âHe was just askingâ,â Any starts, sounding exasperated, but Paige cuts her off.
âYou know what he was doing.â She glares at Dean, who shakes his head, smirking. âWeâll go back to the house,â she sneers. âBut if this doesnât change by tomorrow weâre leaving.â
And with that, she takes Azzi hands and leads them both out into the night.
âââââââââââââ
Paige keeps it together until they get to the house.
As soon as theyâre stepping through the door, she turns away from Azzi and leans down to untie her shoes. Azzi does the same, but she doesnât miss the sniffling sounds coming from her best friend.
Paige refuses to look at her when they start heading upstairs, and she tries to make a beeline for the bathroom once they close her bedroom door shut behind them. But Azzi stops her, placing a gentle hand on her arm. âP?â
Another sniffle. And then a quick wipe at her face before sheâs turning around, trying to look nonchalant but her eyes are red and her lip is trembling. âYeah?â
âPaige,â Azzi says softly, and Paige crumbles, hands coming up to her face as she starts crying.
Azzi steps forward to hug her, pulling her down to hide in her chest. âIâm sorry, P. Iâm so sorry, thisâthis sucks.â
âIâm sorry,â Paige replies, voice all small and muffled in a way that makes Azziâs heart hurt. âI thought they were gonna tryâŠI wouldnât have taken you out with them if I knewâŠâ
âHey, itâs all good,â Azzi responds, running a hand through Paigeâs hair. âI didnât mind, really. Iâve heard worse.â
This is apparently the wrong thing to say, because Paige just cries harder. âFuck, Az, you shouldnât have to do this.â She lifts her head up to look at her, and Azzi absently wipes her face. âThis sucks. Itâs the first week of summer and IâI was shitty to you and now my parents, and Iââ
âPaige,â Azzi says sternly. âI wouldnât have agreed to this if I couldnât handle it. I can handle it. Itâs you that Iâm worried about.â
Paige nods, sniffling again. âYou donât gotta worry. Iâm fine.â
âYouâre obviously not fine, P,â Azzi says, and Paige winces, wiping her nose with the sleeve of her shirt.
âIâm okay,â Paige insists. âReally. As long as we do this together, Iâm okay.â
She straightens up like sheâs steeling herself, and Azzi thinks maybe she should do the same.
This is only the first day of their two-week stay.
Itâs going to be a long trip.
I hope you didnât think I forgot about you đ I was so pleased to receive your ask. From one hopeless romantic to another, I hope you enjoy!
Daddy Does Drilling
Handyman! Joel x fem!plus size!Reader
Word count: 1.3K
Summary: what happens when you and Joel blur the line between business and pleasure..
I invite everyone to also read "Daddy Can Fix It" đ©”
WARNINGS: 18+ Only! Explicit. Reader is plus-size, wears apron and dress. Reader's age not mentioned so there is as much or as little of an age gap as you want. Unprotected piv (Joel is snipped). Oral (f receiving). Sarah and Ellie are mentioned but not named. Divorced Dad!Joel đ€Slowly falling in love and not realizing it until it's too late. Mention of reader wanting a divorce from her husband. Also catty book club bitches.
"You're crazy, y'know that?" Joel whispers in your ear, his harsh whisper tickling your skin as he guides you up and down on his cock.
You grab the back of the sofa, nails digging into the soft upholstery as he plunges into your soaking wet pussy. "I had to do it," you giggle through your panting. "I couldn't stand my idiot husband doing all the work that you do better."
That earns you a slap on the ass, Joel's large hand giving it a firm grip after. "You're an insatiable lil' thing," he growls in your ear. "'Bout to wear me out."
You smirk up at the patched-up drywall, perfectly smoothed over by Joel's industrious and talented hands. Hands that are now grabbing your curves and molding your body to his. "Can you blame me? I'll never get enough of this cock!" Your sentence ends on a loud moan as he holds your hips steady and thrusts up into you hard and deep so you feel the steady brush of him up close to your cervix.
"Come on sweet thing, ya came twice already, you ready for a third?" Joel rasps in your ear. "Got my lap all fuckin' wet with this juicy pussy."
The moment he'd finished up with the wall you'd pounced on him, crushed your lips and your hips to his, delighted to find him already hard and ready. In the shortest amount of time ever, you both had shoved off and pulled aside whatever clothes were unnecessary and fucked right there on the sofa.
He's working you to your third orgasm, spoiling you, actually, holding back from his own pleasure because it's too much fun giving you yours, watching the beautiful expression on your face, the way your body shakes and trembles.
"There she is," he whispers as your sugar walls convulse around him, rhythmically squeezing his rigid cock, and that's when he lets himself explode, your pussy milking him for every drop he's got.
He's at your house every week, then twice a week, three times a week, until he's just there to fuck you and make you scream his name. No fixing of anything required.
Neither of you notices when things take a turn towards the soft, the sweet. He spends hours between your thighs, tasting and teasing you until you come multiple times, not just trying to get you off but trying to know you. Your time together is marked not by the quick, productive thrusts in positions you haven't tried since college, but in the lingering kisses and knowing stares, the confessions that spill from your lips, the honesty that is born of such intimacy as you've shared.
You find out that he's divorced, has two grown daughters, one married and the other away at university. He loves to work with his hands, that he has a natural knack for figuring out a solution to every problem, and persists until said problem is fixed. That's how he started his company.. and one day the ladies just started coming onto him.
Being older and single, he didn't let those chances pass him. The women he helped were lonely like himself, and if he could give them a bit of something to keep them happy even for a moment, he was glad to do it. It became a well-known secret among the housewives of the community of Royal Hill that he would provide good service at a decent price and give you the fucking of a lifetime if you asked politely.
He liked women, found their husbands to be idiots, more often than not. White collar limp dicks who think a G-spot is street slang for money. Some of them he got to know well: Amirah with the flawless umber skin and always smelled of jasmine; Isabelle who tip-tapped around her tiled home in impossibly high heels with ostentatious feathers on the straps and wore hardly anything under her sheer hot pink robe, also bedecked in feathers; Becky who was quite demanding and rude but submissive once she had a dick inside her.
Then came you. And you threw him for a loop.
You were more than you appeared: sweet, shy, pretty. Once he got you in bed you were a goddess, and the amazing thing was you already knew you were. You gave without asking anything in return.. but how could he ever deny you his strong hands, eager mouth, throbbing cock?
No one else had struck this feeling within him, no matter how many lonely housewives he visited, no matter how hard or rough or passionately he'd fucked any of them, they were just fun. Side quests, as his gamer brother would say.
He liked getting to know you, finding out who was the woman underneath the apron and the rosebud-patterned dress. You told him secrets no one else knew, and he found himself doing the same. You would call each other just to talk, to hear each other's voices when you couldn't be close.
What you didn't know was the impact it would have on the other housewives.
"He doesn't even come over himself anymore. His brother Tommy came by to fix the sink instead."
"Don't get me wrong.. Tommy's cute, but I wanted Joel."
"Daddy Joel."
You ignore the little group that's once again near the dessert table. You grab a couple of cucumber sandwiches and a chocolate-dipped madeleine, oblivious to their prattle.
"I don't know," Becky says pointedly. "His truck has been seen outside a certain someone's house a few days a week." She stops you before you can go back to your seat. "With the amount of time Joel's been at your home, you ought to have the most restored, revamped, upgraded home on the block," she says, brimming over with restrained attitude.
"What's going on?" she asks under her breath.
You can see the others are waiting for you to answer her, but for the first time ever you feel absolutely no need to appease them. You need to win them over like you need a hole in your head. "I don't know what you're talking about," you tell them, lying with ease.
"It's not nice to take up all his time," Becky says with an icy tone, staring you down as if looks could kill.
"Becky, is it just me, or are you jealous over a man you have to pay to fuck you?"
The others are stunned. No one has ever put Bitchy Becky in her place before. Not even she knows what to say.
"I think I'm done with this book club. I can read on my own at my house.. waiting on Daddy to fix whatever I need him to." With an angelic smile you drop the plate of treats back onto the table as you leave.
Walking out into the late afternoon sun you feel more free than you ever have before, as if a whole new chapter has started. The short walk to your house is pleasant, even more so when you see Joel's work truck in your driveway.
"Thought I missed ya," he says, his hands in his pockets as he walks from your front door.
"Fridays are for the book club," you explain, heart racing as you come close to him, and his arms go naturally around your waist. "But I quit. Can't really stand those snobby bitches."
You inhale the clean cotton scent of his red flannel, nuzzling your nose in his shoulder as he kisses the side of your head. "I don't want to do anything ever again that doesn't make me happy."
"So, lil' thing, what's gonna make ya happy right now?" he asks, a small grin playing across his lips.
Looking up at him, you realize Joel is the best choice you could have made. "I think I'm going to leave my husband. No.. I'm definitely going to leave my husband. But there's something else I want right now.."
"Good idea." His arms tighten slightly around you, as if to tether you to him. "And what would that be?"
"I want you to come inside.. you've got some drilling to do," you lead him by the hand and into your home.
Chica Medica - Part 6 (Alexia Putellas x Reader)
Okay, so the end of this has taken on a world of its own so I've split it into more parts so you get more frequent updates. We are very near the end now so buckle in for the final few parts. Also this outfit on Ale gets me everytime đ
The first session back after the Christmas break felt different. The usual energy in the training facility was there; players catching up, coaches making rounds, but the tension between you and Alexia was undeniable. She had been avoiding you ever since the team returned from their respective holidays. Youâd noticed the way her eyes barely met yours, the clipped tone in her voice when she answered your questions, and the way she seemed to disappear the moment the session ended.
It was driving you mad. After everything that had happened, the gift, the Instagram post, Alexiaâs coldness towards you stung. You had thought the necklace meant something to her, but now you werenât so sure. Maybe you had misread the entire situation. Maybe she had decided to push you away, after all.
After another training session where she barely acknowledged you, you decided you couldnât let this go on any longer. If she was upset, if something had changed, you needed to know and you needed to know why. You had to understand what had happened between the two of you.
As the players filtered out of the gym, you approached her carefully, trying to mask the anxiety bubbling inside you. "Ale, can I talk to you for a minute? I need to go over some review forms with you for your progress this season. We can do it now if you have time."
Alexiaâs body stiffened at the sound of your voice, and for a moment, you thought she was going to walk away. But instead, she turned around, her face cold and unreadable. "Fine," she said shortly. "Letâs get this over with."
You led her into the office, your heart racing in your chest. She sat down across from you, her arms crossed, her posture defensive. You could feel the distance between you, the walls she had put up since Dubai, and it was suffocating. How had you got to this point.
You cleared your throat, trying to keep things professional. "I just need to get your feedback on how you're feeling physically. Have you got any lingering injuries, anything we should keep an eye on for the rest of the season."
Alexia didnât respond immediately. She just stared at you, her jaw tight, her eyes narrowed. The silence stretched on for too long, and the tension in the room became unbearable.
Finally, she spoke, her voice sharp and laced with frustration. "Are we really going to do this? Pretend like nothing happened?"
You blinked, caught off guard by her tone. "What do you mean?"
Alexia slammed her hand down on the table, her eyes blazing. "Donât play dumb, Y/N. You know exactly what Iâm talking about. All the messages, the gift, the way you made me feel... And then I see you with Leah. After everything, you go back to her."
Her words hit you like a punch to the gut. "Alexia, itâs not what you thinkâ"
"Not what I think?" She cut you off, her voice rising. "I trusted you! I let you in, more than Iâve let anyone in for years. I told you things I havenât told anyone since my dad died. I opened up to you because I thought we had something. And then I see you with her, like none of it mattered. Like I didnât matter."
Her words hung heavy in the air, and you could see the pain in her eyes, the vulnerability that she was trying so hard to mask with anger.
"Alexia," you started, your voice soft, "Leah and I arenât getting back together. That night, we were just talking. We needed to clear the air, to get some closure. I would never go back to her, not after everything weâve been through."
Alexia stood up abruptly, pacing the small office. "Then why didnât you tell me? Why did I have to see it through someoneâs Instagram story? Why did you let me believe..." She trailed off, her hands trembling slightly as she turned to face you again.
You swallowed hard, standing as well, trying to close the distance between you. "I didnât mean to hurt you. I thought you understood what the gift meant, what I was trying to say."
"The gift?" Alexiaâs laugh was bitter, her eyes flashing with emotion. "Yeah, I thought I understood. I thought it was your way of saying that you felt the same. But now... I donât know what to believe. I feel like Iâve been led on, like I was just someone you could toy with until something better came along."
Her voice cracked on the last words, and your heart broke seeing her like this, so guarded, so hurt.
"I didnât lead you on," you said quietly, stepping closer to her. "I care about you, Ale. More than Iâve been able to put into words. I didnât think... I didnât realize how much this was affecting you. I should have told you everything sooner."
Alexia shook her head, her eyes glassy with unshed tears. "I havenât felt this way about anyone, I donât think ever. I havenât let anyone in this much, and now I wish I hadnât. I wish I had just kept my distance, because this... this hurts more than anything Iâve felt in a long time."
Her words hung in the air, raw and full of pain. You could see the regret in her eyes, the regret of trusting, of opening herself up to you, only to feel like she had been left behind.
You took a deep breath, trying to keep your voice steady. "Iâm sorry, Alexia. I never wanted to hurt you. I never wanted you to feel like I didnât care, because I do. I care about you more than you know."
For a moment, the room was silent, the tension between you thick and heavy. Alexia turned away from you, her hands clenched into fists at her sides.
"I donât know if I can do this anymore," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "I donât know if I can let you in again."
You felt a lump in your throat, unsure of what to say, unsure of how to fix what had been broken between you. But you knew one thing, you werenât ready to give up, not yet.
"Iâm not asking you to make a decision right now," you said softly, taking a step closer to her. "But please, just... donât shut me out. Not like this."
Alexia stayed silent, her back still turned to you, the weight of everything she had said hanging heavily in the room. You could feel the distance between you, a chasm that had opened up, but you werenât ready to let her go. Definitely not without a fight.
Months had passed since that tense confrontation in the office. The coldness between you and Alexia had grown into something you had never experienced before. Every interaction was brief, detached, and painfully professional. You felt the weight of her unspoken emotions in every glance she avoided and the way she seemed to slip away before you could even say goodbye after training.
Despite the distance, your feelings for Alexia hadn't faded. If anything, they had only continued to grow, but the space between you both felt greater with each passing day. The tension was thick, but you didnât know how to bridge the gap.
Training sessions continued as usual, but you noticed Alexia had been pushing herself even harder as the season wore on. And then came the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal against Wolfsburg.
The game had been brutal. Wolfsburg came out strong, overwhelming Barça with their physicality and relentless pressure. By the time the final whistle blew, Barcelona had lost 2-0. The entire team looked defeated, their heads hung low as they left the pitch. It wasnât just the scoreline, it was the sense of being outplayed, of the fight slipping away. And with the second leg looming, the pressure was immense.
Alexia was one of the last to leave the field, her frustration clear. You watched her, torn between wanting to reach out and the fear of being pushed away yet again.
Later that evening, as the team had mostly dispersed and the changing room quieted down, you were preparing to leave when you heard familiar footsteps approaching from behind.
You turned, surprised to see Alexia standing in the doorway, her posture tense, her expression unreadable. She looked exhausted, both emotionally and physically drained.
"Can I talk to you?" she asked, her voice low and hesitant, as if the words were difficult to get out. You noted as well that she spoke without looking at you.
You blinked in surprise. After months of icy silence, this was the last thing you expected, but you nodded, your voice gentle. "Of course." You thought twice about adding the you can always talk to me, you didnât want to push it.
She stepped into the room, closing the door behind her, and stood there for a moment, struggling to find the right words. The tension in the air was thick, almost suffocating, and you could tell something was weighing heavily on her.
"Itâs all too much," Alexia finally said, her voice quiet but strained. "This... everything. I donât know how much longer I can keep doing this."
You stayed silent, waiting for her to continue, giving her the space she needed to open up.
"The game today..." She shook her head in frustration, pacing the room. "Itâs not just the loss. Itâs everything thatâs been building up. The pressure, the expectations, the weight of everyone thinking I should be carrying this team. And now, weâre down 2-0, and I donât know how weâre going to turn it around. It feels like itâs all my fault."
Her voice cracked slightly, and you could see the vulnerability behind her words, the weight of the captaincy, the pressure of being the one everyone looked to when things went wrong. The public perception of her being the one that needs to do it all, even though there are 11 players playing each game.
She stopped pacing and looked at you, her eyes filled with frustration and something deeper. "And you..." she continued, her tone softening but still filled with hurt. "Iâve been avoiding you for months because I didnât know how to handle everything I felt. After what I told you, I regretted opening up. I felt like you led me on, like I let myself get too close, only to see you with Leah and feel like it was all for nothing. Like we were nothing."
Your heart ached as you listened to her. You had known she was upset, but hearing her admit just how much she had been hurting hit harder than you expected.
"Alexia, Iâ"
"I havenât let anyone in like that since my dad died," she interrupted, her voice breaking. "And when I finally did, you made me feel like I made a mistake. I havenât felt that vulnerable in years, and I hate that I let myself care so much about someone who was still hung up on her ex."
You stepped closer, your heart heavy with guilt and concern. "I wasnât leading you on, Ale. Leah and I were never getting back together, are never getting back together. We just needed to clear the air. I should have told you sooner, but I never want you to think I donât care about you."
Alexiaâs gaze flickered, the anger and frustration slowly giving way to the exhaustion that had been building inside her. "I miss talking to you. I miss... us. But I donât know how to fix this. Theres this massive gap between us now and I donât know how we close it."
You stepped even closer, your hand hovering near hers, unsure if she would accept your touch after months of distance. âThereâs no gap that canât be closed, Ale,â you said softly, your voice trembling slightly. âBut we have to want to close it. I want to fix this with you.â
Alexiaâs eyes flickered with uncertainty, her guard still up. âHow?â she whispered, her voice raw with emotion. âHow do we go back to... before?â
You took a deep breath, searching her face, seeing the exhaustion in the lines etched into her brow, the pain in her eyes. âWe donât go back,â you said, shaking your head. âWe canât. Too much has happened. But we can move forward. We can try again, take things one step at a time.â
Her gaze dropped to the floor, her jaw clenching as she wrestled with the emotions that had been bottled up for so long. âI donât know if I can,â she admitted. âI donât know if I can let my guard down like that again. Not after...â
âYou can,â you interrupted gently. âYou already did once, Ale. I know itâs terrifying, but you donât have to do it alone this time. Iâm here, and Iâm not going anywhere. Weâll figure it out together.â
Her eyes finally met yours again, and you could see the cracks beginning to show in her hardened exterior. âBut what if I do?â she asked, her voice trembling. âWhat if I push you away again?â
âYou wonât,â you replied, your tone steady. âAnd even if you try, Iâm not going to let you. Not this time.â
For a moment, neither of you spoke. The weight of the months of silence and hurt hung heavy in the air, but there was something different now, a fragile thread of hope, pulling you both together. Alexiaâs defences were crumbling, bit by bit, and she was letting herself feel again, even if it scared her.
âYou meant more to me than I let myself admit,â Alexia finally whispered, her voice barely audible. âAnd when I thought you were moving on, I didnât know what to do with that. I didnât know how to be anything other than... angry.â
You could feel the vulnerability in her words, and it broke your heart to know how much she had been hurting, how deeply she had internalised everything. âI was never moving on,â you said, shaking your head. âNot from you. I was just... figuring things out. Trying to make sure I could leave my past in the past before starting my future. But not having you to talk to... that hurt me too.â
Alexia nodded, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. She let out a shaky breath, her hands fidgeting slightly at her sides. âIâve been holding onto this anger because it was easier than admitting I was scared. Scared of what it meant to care so much, to let someone in.â
You took a small step forward, closing the final distance between you, and cautiously reached out, gently taking her hand. To your relief, she didnât pull away this time. Her fingers curled around yours, the touch hesitant but real.
âItâs okay to be scared,â you murmured, your thumb brushing over her knuckles in a soothing gesture. âIâm scared too. But thatâs part of this, right? Taking the leap, even when itâs terrifying.â
Alexiaâs breath hitched, and for a moment, she squeezed your hand tightly, as if grounding herself in the moment. Her voice was a whisper, full of uncertainty and emotion. âI donât want to lose you.â
âYou wonât,â you said, your voice steady and full of conviction. âIâm here, Ale. And Iâm not going anywhere.â
She let out a shaky breath, her body relaxing slightly as she allowed herself to trust in your words. âI havenât felt this close to anyone since my dad died,â she admitted softly. âAnd it scared me how much I needed you.â
Her words broke the last piece of tension between you, and you stepped even closer, gently pulling her into your arms. She hesitated for only a second before she leaned into you, her body melting against yours as if finally allowing herself to feel the comfort she had been denying for so long.
âIâm sorry,â she whispered into your shoulder, her voice thick with emotion. âFor shutting you out. For everything.â
You held her tightly, your hand gently rubbing her back in slow circles. âIâm sorry too. Weâll work through it,â you whispered, your voice soft but full of promise. âWeâll get through this together.â
For the first time in months, the tension between you eased, and Alexiaâs walls came down completely. She rested her forehead against your shoulder, her breath steadying as she let herself be vulnerable with you.
After what felt like an eternity, Alexia pulled back slightly, just enough to look into your eyes. Her expression was softer now, the anger and frustration replaced with something else, something deeper. âI miss us,â she whispered, her eyes searching yours. âI miss... this.â
You smiled gently, your hand brushing a strand of hair away from her face. âSo do I.â
For the first time in what felt like ages, Alexia smiled, it was small, hesitant, but real. The gap between you wasnât gone, but you were starting to build the bridge. Slowly, carefully, but surely and together.
The atmosphere inside Camp Nou was electric. The roar of the fans echoed throughout the stadium as you sat on the bench, your eyes fixed on the pitch. This was it, the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinal against Wolfsburg. After a 2-0 loss in the first leg, the pressure was on, but there was a quiet determination in the air. The team knew what was at stake, and you could feel it in every passing glance, every focused expression. Tonight felt different to the last match against Wolfsburg, it felt like the girls had all taken the loss personally and were out for redemption.
From your position on the bench, you watched as the girls took their places dotted around the field. Aitana, Caro, Jenni, and Alexia stood at the ready, their eyes locked on the opposition, the tension almost palpable. Your heart raced in sync with the crowdâs chants, well until your heartbeat grew so loud in your ears that you could barely here the girls on the bench next to you. Tonight wasnât just about advancing to the semifinals; it was about proving to the world that loss was a small blip.
The whistle blew and within minutes, the tension began to ease. Aitana, always so composed on and off the ball, burst forward and connected perfectly with the ball. In just three minutes, she had found the back of the net. The stadium erupted, and the weight of the first-leg defeat seemed to lift, even if only slightly.
You smiled, feeling some of the tension in your own chest loosen. It was the perfect start, exactly what the team needed. You glanced toward the pitch, where Alexia stood with her teammates, a fire in her eyes that hadnât dimmed despite everything she had been through.
Ten minutes later, Caro added to the tally with a brilliant finish, sending the crowd into another wave of celebration. The momentum was shifting, and you could see the belief growing stronger with each pass.
As the game neared the half-hour mark, Barcelona were relentless. They pressed higher and higher, refusing to give Wolfsburg a moment to breathe. Then, in the 33rd minute, Jenni Hermoso received a perfect cross into the box and, with her trademark composure, slotted it home.
3-0.
The roar of the crowd was deafening. You could feel the surge of energy coursing through the team, and yet, your focus kept drifting to Alexia. She was commanding the midfield with a quiet intensity, orchestrating every movement, every attack. And she looked really good doing it, although you would not ever share that thought with anyone except maybe her.
And then, just five minutes later, in the 38th minute, it happened. A sharp pass from Aitana found Alexia on the edge of the box. With a quick touch to control, she unleashed a precise strike that soared into the top corner of the net.
4-0.
The stadium erupted in a frenzy, but in that moment, everything around you seemed to blur. Alexia, breathless and triumphant, turned toward the bench, her eyes finding yours. The relief was clear, the weight of months of tension visibly lifting from her shoulders. In that brief second, you shared a silent exchange, a connection that had been buried under layers of misunderstanding and distance. Her eyes said it all without any words needing to be uttered. Thank you, I needed this.
You smiled, your heart swelling with pride for her. This was the Alexia you knew, the one who carried the weight of the team but had finally found a way to let go of some of that burden. To find the joy in the game that she really loved to play.
The game pressed on, Barcelona in full control. Wolfsburg tried to push back and did get a goal, but the momentum had shifted irreversibly. As the clock ticked down, Barça kept up the pressure, refusing to let Wolfsburg find any momentum after the goal.
Then, with just minutes left on the clock, Barcelona were awarded a penalty. The crowd held its breath as Alexia stepped up to take it, the ball resting at her feet. The stadium fell into a tense silence, the kind that only a moment like this can create.
You watched closely, your heart in your throat. Alexia stood over the ball, calm and collected. Then, with the same precision you had seen from her countless times, she sent the keeper the wrong way and buried the penalty in the bottom corner.
5-1 on the night. 5-3 on aggregate.
The roar of the crowd was deafening, a wave of relief and celebration sweeping through the stadium. Barcelona had done it. They had pulled off the comeback, securing their place in the Champions League semifinals. The players on the bench jumped to their feet, cheering, hugging, and celebrating the incredible turnaround.
But your eyes were still on Alexia. As she celebrated with her teammates, a weight seemed to lift from her entirely. The game had been a battle, both on the field and inside her heart, but tonight, she had won on both fronts.
As the final whistle blew, confirming Barcaâs 5-1 victory on the night, you stood from the bench, your heart pounding with pride, relief, and something deeper. The crowd was in full voice, chanting Alexiaâs name, and you couldnât help but feel overwhelmed by everything she had accomplished, not just with the team, but for herself.
Alexia glanced back at you one last time before the celebrations truly kicked off on the pitch. This time, there was no hesitation, no doubt in her eyes. Just relief, pride, and maybe, just maybe, a flicker of something hopeful.
The celebrations were in full swing. The team had gathered at a private club, the sounds of laughter, music, and excitement filling the space. After the dramatic 5-1 win over Wolfsburg, it was time to celebrate not just the victory, but the resilience and unity that had brought the team back from the brink.
Everyone was buzzing, adrenaline still high from the match. Drinks were flowing, and the room was alive with the chatter of teammates recounting the goals, the tension, and the triumph of the night. You sat in a booth toward the back of the room, watching the teamâs joy unfold around you. It was one of those rare moments when everything just felt right, well at least when it came to the team.
But there was another reason your heart raced tonight, and it had nothing to do with the match. It had everything to do with Alexia.
You had caught glimpses of her throughout the night, her laughter mingling with the music, her smile wide and free as she embraced her teammates. But every now and then, her eyes would find yours across the room. There was a warmth in her gaze that hadnât been there for months, and every time it happened, you felt the invisible thread pulling the two of you closer.
As you took another sip of your drink, trying to shake off the nerves bubbling in your chest, you noticed Alexia making her way across the room. She moved through the crowd with that calm confidence she always carried, but this time, her destination was clear, she was headed straight for you.
Your heart thudded in your chest as she approached, her eyes never leaving yours. When she reached the booth you were in, she paused for just a moment, glancing at the player sitting next to you, Claudia, who had been laughing at something Patri had said.
"Mind if I sit here?" Alexia asked, her voice soft but firm making it very clear what she wanted even if she had phrased it as a question.
Claudia glanced up a bit surprised, but not one to argue with her team captain. She smiled at Alexia and nodded, quickly sliding out of the booth to make room and grabbing Patriâs hand as she did dragging the woman with her. "All yours, Capitana."
You could barely suppress the smile tugging at your lips as Alexia slid into the booth beside you, close enough that her thigh brushed against yours. The warmth of her body sent a jolt through you, but you tried to play it cool, glancing at her with a casual smile.
"How are you feeling after that performance?" you asked, trying to mask the nervous energy that had crept in.
Alexia smiled, that familiar spark in her eyes that you hadnât seen in so long. "Relieved," she admitted, her voice low so only you could hear. "And exhausted."
You chuckled, nodding. "You deserve to relax after tonight. You were incredible out there."
Her eyes softened at your words, and for a moment, the noise of the party seemed to fade into the background. It was just the two of you, sitting close, sharing the relief of the nightâs victory, and happy that the months of tension between you was slowly melting away.
Alexia shifted slightly, her leg pressing more firmly against yours as she leaned in, her voice barely above a whisper. "I missed this."
Your heart skipped a beat, but you managed to keep your voice steady. "I missed it, too."
She looked at you, her eyes searching yours, as if she was trying to find the right words. The playful, teasing glances from earlier had been replaced with something more genuine, more vulnerable.
"Iâve been thinking," she began, her fingers playing absentmindedly with the edge of her glass. "About everything thatâs happened. About us."
You held your breath, not wanting to interrupt her train of thought.
Alexia took a deep breath before continuing, her voice quieter now. "I didnât know how to face you after everything. It was easier to avoid it, to push you away. But... that just made everything worse."
You swallowed hard, the weight of her words hanging between you. "You donât have to apologize, Ale. I know itâs been difficult. I shouldâve been clearer with everything. I should have been more upfront about Leah, about how I feel."
Her eyes flickered with something you couldnât quite place. "How do you feel?"
You hesitated for just a moment, then met her gaze, deciding it was time to be honest. "I care about you, Alexia. A lot. And it wasnât just about the work, or the physio sessions, or even the football. I care about you."
Her breath caught, and for a moment, you saw the same vulnerability in her eyes that she had shown after the loss to Wolfsburg. The walls she had built between you were slowly crumbling, and now, sitting so close, the months of distance between you felt like they were finally closing.
Alexia smiled softly, her hand finding yours under the table. She didnât say anything at first and she didnât need to. The simple act of reaching out, of closing that physical gap, spoke volumes.
The room around you buzzed with the energy of celebration, but for you and Alexia, the noise had become background static. All that mattered was the connection between you, the understanding that despite everything, you were still here, still close. That there was still something there to explore.
"Thank you," Alexia finally whispered, her thumb brushing over the back of your hand. "For being there. Even when I pushed you away."
You squeezed her hand gently. "Iâm not going anywhere."
Her eyes met yours again, and this time, there was no hesitation, no doubt. Just the quiet promise of something that had been waiting to be said for months, now slowly beginning to surface.
The celebration carried on around you, but you and Alexia remained in your little bubble at the booth. Her leg was pressed against yours, and her hand occasionally found yours under the table, both of you taking comfort in the quiet connection that had begun to rebuild.
It was only a matter of time before someone noticed. And, unsurprisingly, that someone was Mapi.
From the corner of your eye, you saw her making her way toward you, a mischievous glint in her eyes. Leila followed close behind, a grin already forming as they approached your booth. The second Mapi spotted the two of you sitting close together, she raised an eyebrow, her teasing smirk unmistakable.
"Well, well, well," Mapi drawled, crossing her arms as she came to stand beside the table. "What do we have here? Cozying up after a big win, huh? Looks like more than just the game turned around tonight."
Alexia shot Mapi a warning look, but her lips twitched with amusement. You felt a flush creep up your neck as you glanced between them, unsure whether to laugh or feel embarrassed.
"Mapi," Alexia warned lightly, though there was a smile threatening to break through.
But Mapi wasnât done. She wiggled her eyebrows, clearly enjoying herself. "I knew something was up when Claudia said you asked for some time in the booth without others. Didnât think youâd be making moves this fast, though Ale. Capitanaâs got game on and off the pitch, huh?"
Before you could respond, Leila, having been quietly observing, stepped in. She gave Mapi a pointed look before swatting her on the back of the head. "Cut it out, idiot. Nowâs not the time."
Mapi yelped, rubbing the back of her head in mock outrage. "Hey! What was that for?"
"For being a pain," Leila deadpanned, her eyes darting between you and Alexia, clearly sensing that this wasnât just light-hearted fun. "Come on, leave them alone."
Mapi looked between you and Alexia again, her expression softening as she realized Leila was right. "Fine, fine," she muttered, though the teasing smile never quite left her face. "But just remember, Ale, Iâm watching you." She pointed her fingers at her own eyes, then back at Alexiaâs, as if to say she was keeping an eye on things.
Leila rolled her eyes and dragged Mapi away by the arm, pulling her back toward the dance floor where the rest of the team was letting loose. Mapi threw one last cheeky grin over her shoulder as she let herself be pulled into the chaos of the celebration.
Alexia shook her head, chuckling under her breath. "She never lets up, does she?"
You smiled, the tension from the teasing already dissipating. "Not even for a second."
But as Mapi and Leila disappeared into the crowd, the quietness returned between you and Alexia. It was as if, for a moment, nothing had changed. The warmth of her presence, the way she leaned into you, it was all still there, unspoken yet undeniable.
Alexia glanced over at you, her eyes soft with affection and amusement. "I should have known Mapi would notice."
You laughed softly, leaning in just slightly. "I think the whole teamâs going to notice eventually."
Alexia smiled at that, the corner of her mouth lifting in that way that made your heart flutter. "Let them. Iâm not hiding anything." Alexiaâs hand slipped into yours under the table once again, her touch gentle but steady, like the wave that had always connected you.
The tension that had once defined your relationship with Alexia was beginning to melt away. After the celebration following the comeback win against Wolfsburg, something had shifted between you. The stolen glances, the shared smiles, the quiet conversations. They were all part of the rhythm you and Alexia had started to fall into, like finding your way back to something that had always been there, that was just waiting for the right moment.
A few days after the match, with the team preparing for the final of the Champions League, Alexia had sent you a text. Simple, to the point, but it had made your heart skip a beat all the same.
Coffee after training tomorrow?
It wasnât exactly a grand gesture, but it was the kind of thing you had been hoping for, something normal, something easy, something for just the two of you.
The next afternoon, training wrapped up, and the usual buzz of the team filled the air as everyone began to drift toward their cars. You spotted Alexia across the car park, pulling her bag over her shoulder and heading in your direction. She gave you a small smile, one that made your stomach do a little flip, and you smiled back, trying to hide the nerves fluttering inside you.
A short walk from the training grounds, tucked away in a quieter part of the city, was a small café Alexia had mentioned a few times before. It was one of her favourites because she found it charming and cozy. It was a small whole in the wall shop with a few tables lining the windows and a barista who already knew her order by heart.
When the two of you walked inside, Alexia nodded to the barista, exchanging a familiar smile. "Dos cafés, por favor."
You found a table by the window, the late afternoon sunlight spilling in and casting a warm glow over the café. It felt easy, sitting there with Alexia, even with the unspoken weight of everything that had happened in the past months. Somehow, that weight seemed lighter now.
As you both sat down with your coffees, you couldnât help but smile. "So, is this the famous cafĂ© youâve been talking about all season?"
Alexia chuckled, her eyes bright as she took a sip of her coffee. "This is the one. Best coffee in Barcelona, in my opinion."
You raised an eyebrow, taking a sip from your own cup. "I have to admit, itâs good. I can see why youâre a regular."
The conversation flowed easily, both of you falling into a natural rhythm. You talked about the upcoming matches, about the team, about the Champions League final that seemed to be looming on the horizon. But every now and then, the conversation would drift to lighter things like your favourite places in Barcelona, stories from when you first started working with the team, and little tales about the players that made you both laugh.
At one point, Alexia leaned back in her chair, her gaze soft as she looked at you. "Itâs nice, this. Just being here with you."
Her words made your heart flutter, and you could feel a warmth creeping into your cheeks. "Yeah," you agreed softly. "It is."
There was a quiet between you for a moment, but it wasnât uncomfortable. It was the kind of quiet that comes when everything feels right, like you donât need to fill the space with words.
Alexiaâs fingers gently brushed against yours on the table, a subtle but meaningful gesture. You smiled at her, feeling the connection between you strengthen with every shared glance, every light touch. It was simple, but it felt important.
As you finished your coffees, Alexia glanced at her phone, checking the time. "We should probably head back soon," she said with a small sigh, though there was a playful glint in her eyes. "Canât be late to the next team meeting."
You nodded, not wanting the moment to end but knowing that the world of football never truly stopped. "True, but this was nice. We should do it again sometime."
Alexia smiled, standing up and offering you her hand. "How about dinner next time?"
You felt your heart swell at her words but kept your voice steady. "Sounds perfect."
Over the next few weeks, as the games piled up and the pressure built toward the Champions League final, you and Alexia carved out little moments like that coffee date. There were lunches after training, quiet dinners at out-of-the-way restaurants, and even the occasional late-night walk when the city was quiet and still.
Each date felt like another step forward, a chance to know each other outside the pressure of the pitch and the weight of expectations. It wasnât rushed, it was comfortable, like two people rediscovering something that had always been there, but they hadnât taken time to fully realise it.
One evening, just a few days before the final, you and Alexia found yourselves at a small tapas restaurant, tucked away in one of Barcelonaâs quieter neighbourhoods. The evening air was warm, there was a soft murmur of the city around you as you shared a meal, laughing and talking like you had known each other for years.
At one point, Alexia reached across the table, her hand covering yours. "Youâve been amazing these past few months," she said softly, her eyes meeting yours. "I know I wasnât easy to be around, but... Iâm really glad weâre here now."
You squeezed her hand gently, your heart swelling with affection. "Iâm glad too."
It was in these quiet moments, between games and team obligations, that the relationship between you and Alexia grew. It was no longer weighed down by misunderstandings or hesitation, now it was just two people, finally allowing themselves to enjoy the moments they shared.
As the final approached, the nerves and excitement would soon return, but for now, in the warmth of the evening, everything felt right.
Hand in hand, Wanda led the two of you into the grocery store. The same store you and your mother, Natasha often would go to. You felt a little sad that youâd been at school all day and had only seen your mom for breakfast before she dropped you off. Wanda assured you that your mom would be home before dinner and had a surprise for you when she would finish work. So, to help cheer you up, Wanda asked what you would like for dinner and to no surprise, you asked if you could make home-made pizzas.Â
âWanda, can I go look at the plushies?â You asked, trying to drag Wanda towards the aisle where the cheap toys were. You always loved to see if there was any new plushies to add to your growing collection.Â
âIn a minute loveâ Wanda replied with a light chuckle as she pulled a shopping cart out with her free hand, âdo you want to sit in the cart today?â She asked but you shook your head. âOkay but make sure you either hold my hand or the cartâ Wanda reminds you before you can run off to the toy section. Your small hand latched onto the metal cart as Wanda began to push it into the direction of the vegetables, checking her shopping list on her phone that she had pulled together quickly in the carpark.Â
âWhat is first on the list?â You asked, looking up at the brunette.Â
âWe need some bell peppersâ Wanda replied, smiling softly. As soon as the red and green bell peppers caught your eyes, you ran towards them. âFound them!â You called out to her as she followed behind you, pushing the cart. âGood job!â Wanda praised before she picked up a pre-packed set of three. âWhatâs next?â You asked, eager to get to the toy aisle. Wanda looked down at the notes app on her phone, âuhh, we need an onionâ she replied while she read the next couple of items listed.Â
You patiently followed the cart's wheels as Wanda pushed it gently towards the onions, Wanda could see your eyes wandering towards the stuffed toys. âNow we need some shredded cheeseâ Wanda spoke after she placed an onion into the cart.
After grabbing the shredded cheese, the next item was tomato paste which just happened to be next to the toy aisle. Wanda was just about to turn the corner when she stopped in her tracks. When you looked up, you saw Aunty Pepper with a basket in her hand. The two adults smiled at one another before they started small talking.Â
âWanda, can I please go look at the plushies?â You begged, Wanda looked down at you and chuckled, âokay, but donât go anywhere else, okay?â She replied. You nodded with a smile on your lips before you raced off down the aisle where your eyes were met with the many different plushies.Â
You took a few moments, digging around the pile of toys before you finally found one that you fell in love with instantly, a lion plushie with an extra soft and fluffy main. This was the one, you knew you couldnât leave your new friend behind.
On your heels, you turned and ran back to the end of the aisle where Wanda was, well, last was. You turned around in a circle, your eyes searching for Wanda, but you couldnât see her. Suddenly you felt alone and soon enough a scared feeling started to settle in. You held the lion plushie a little tighter when you remembered what your mom would always tell you.
âIf you ever get lost, go find an adult worker and ask them to help you, okay? Can you remember that for me?âÂ
Your mother's voice ran through your mind, you couldnât tell who worked here and who didnât, so you walked up to the first adult in sight.Â
âE-excuse me, c-can you please help me? Iâm lostâ you asked, looking up at the stranger with watery eyes.Â
The stranger kneeled down, âwell thatâs a shame, isnât it? Do you know what your mommy was wearing?â He asked. You shook your head, âmy mommy isnât hereâ you corrected him. âWho are you here with? Your daddy?â He asked. You shook your head once more, âI donât have a daddy, I am here with Wanda but I canât find herâ you replied.Â
The blonde haired man with green eyes looked friendly enough to help you as he stood up and placed a hand on your shoulder, âcome with me, Iâm sure sheâs outside looking for youâ he said. He didnât have a cart with him or a basket, he just had a loaf of bread in one hand. You clenched the plushie in your arms a little tighter as the man led you towards the check out.Â
âJust the bread and the toy?â The woman behind the counter asked, the man nodded. He let go of your shoulder to pull out his wallet and pay for the two items before the woman smiled softly at him and told you both to have a good day. He handed you the lion plushie and placed his hand on your shoulder once more, this time his grip felt a little tighter than before.Â
You were a foot out the sliding doors before you heard Wanda shout your name. You looked over your shoulder and saw Wanda running towards you.Â
âDONâT LET HIM GO!â Wanda yelled as security looked over towards the door. You wiggled free of the strangerâs grip and ran towards Wanda, crashing into her arms. âSweetheart, are you okay? Are you hurt?â She asked you. You werenât sure why she was in such a panic, âIâm okay Wandaâ you smiled softly, âthis man was helping me. He said you were outside looking for meâ you added.Â
âIs there a problem here?â The security asked, blocking the door from the unnamed man to leave. Wanda looked up at him and saw the panic in his eyes before her mind flashed with the image of his intentions. âYes!â She replied, âhe tried to kidnap her!â Wanda added, making you confused.Â
âSir, Iâm going to have to ask you come with meâ the security guard turned his attention to the stranger. âThis is all just a misunderstandingâ he said.Â
âThen you should have no problem coming with meâÂ
You felt Wanda hug you tighter while you watched the security guy take the stranger who you thought was kind to the back of the store. Wanda gently placed you back on your feet, âWanda, why did you get that man in trouble?â You asked her. Wanda felt her heart melt at your innocents, but she knew this would be something Natasha would have to explain to you in better terms.Â
âHoney, did your mommy ever tell you not to talk to strangers?â She asked you.Â
âYes, but she told me if I ever get lost that I need to find an adult who works here and ask for helpâ you replied, looking into Wandaâs eyes, âI couldnât find a workerâ you added as Wanda gently brushed a loose lock of hair behind your ear, âdid I do something wrong?â You asked.Â
Wanda shook her head, âno darling, you did the right thing, but that man didnât do the right thingâÂ
You could only nod at her words, unsure of what they meant. âHow about we go home and order a pizza tonight?â Wanda asked.Â
âWas he a big bad wolf?â You asked Wanda, ignoring her question. Natasha mustâve told you something, Wanda was sure of that given the words that left your lips. She nodded softly, âyes darling, he wasâÂ
Without a second thought, you wrapped your small arms around Wanda and hugged her tightly, âI want to go home pleaseâ you said softly.
----
Like Wanda told you when she picked you up from school, your mother came home just before dinner. She was just in time, kicking her shoes off as the pizza delivery knocked on the door.Â
âDelivery?â Natasha questioned, âI thought we were doing home-made pizzas?â She added.Â
âWe were at the store getting stuff but then a big bad wolf tried to take me outsideâ you answered, giving your mother an almost heart attack. âWhat?!â She said in a panic before scooping you up in her arms instantly, âare you okay? Did they hurt you?â She asked. You shook your head, âno mommy, Wanda saved meâ you smiled softly while Wanda paid for the pizza.Â
âIâll explain it to you after dinnerâ Wanda assured the redhead who held you close.Â
âIâm so sorry I wasnât there babyâ your mother spoke softly, not wanting to let you go. âIâm okay mommy, can we please eat now?â You asked as if nothing in the world bothered you. Nat slowly let you go, placing you back on your feed while her eyes checked you over, once she was sure you didnât have any injuries she placed a kiss on the top of your head, âletâs eatâ she said softly.
