it's been a while since i interacted with the marauders fandom, (like a month or two) but one recurring theme that i saw was the drastic recon of a lot of the slytherins in that era.

i remember when your main cast in your average marauders fic was mostly gryffindors, and then a lot of the antagonists were slytherins. barty and evan were almost always villains (bullies, toxic exes, etc) and regulus was an angst device for sirius. nowadays, the main cast is split into two main friend groups, gryffindors and slytherins. most gryffindors have a slytherin they're paired with (lily and dorcas [which btw i remember when dorcas was a gryffindor], james and regulus, etc etc). the slytherins all have family issues where their parents are blood purists and they don't agree with them and it's a whole thing blah blah blah

i like that there is more diversity in where the characters come from, but there is so much nuance that is stripped of these characters to make them all get along. regulus is the number one victim of this.

i've noticed there is a desire to make the characters people like morally good. they preach about grey characters, but when it comes down to it there is always a justification for the "bad" things they do. sometimes people do bad things because they believe bad things. regulus is a bad guy. he is a death eater, he gets the dark mark and everything. a lot of people write that regulus secretly agreed with sirius the whole time, but it makes it so much more interesting if sirius and regulus's morals actually clash instead of regulus just agreeing with his parents. i personally love when sirius and regulus are close in their childhood and then it changes as they both mature and find themselves.

i think if we look at the characters realistically, regulus barty and evan would never truly get along with people like james and sirius. they're both righteous people (ESPECIALLY james) who would not tolerate blood purism. and that's interesting to explore and to write! sirius watching his brother become a complete stranger who resents him because their morals conflict is so interesting!! you don't have to take away murky morals from a character so they can make out with your fav... which leads me to my next thing.

the jegulus boom. i remember when jegulus was a crack ship and now i think it's literally up there in popularity with wolfstar. i used to ship it as a joke, and in the beginning it was cute but honestly i don't see this ever being an actually healthy relationship. again, james has very strong morals and he would not tolerate regulus being a death eater. he would also ALWAYS choose sirius and he wouldn't stay in a relationship with someone who would cause sirius so much pain. there are a select few circumstances where i see them in a select few dynamics??? but i just don't see it happening.

it's sad because i feel like lily has been tossed aside for fandom's new bl ship. like i love wlw ships with all my heart but sometimes it seems like they come out of people wanting to do something with the canon female love interest. jily is such a beautiful and adorable ship, and the chemistry is honestly so much better than jegulus if i'm being honest. lily is also such an interesting character and you can still get your enemies to lovers fix out of jily. you don't need to compromise the morals of both james and regulus for your yaoi.

it always struck me as weird that these canon death eaters are suddenly heroes now, as in they never believed this shit at all and they're actually victims of their families and society and stuff. don't get me wrong, they definitely are, but it would be better if it wasn't just "i always thought this is wrong and i'm the rebel in my family!" people in these systems actually do get brainwashed and manipulated, and they do believe these things wholeheartedly.

i understand the whole thing with marauders is that there is no canon and you can do whatever you want, but sometimes the characters are just so flat. regulus is interesting to me because he was a bad person but he ultimately chose to sacrifice himself for something good. there's also the issue with changing the characters to the point where they're completely unrecognizable from canon. jkr is a shit writer, but that doesn't change the fact that james has been repeatedly described in canon as a righteous man with incredibly strong beliefs. he may have been a little shit, but never to the point where he would date a death eater. he literally pantsed one upside down and washed their mouth out with soap.

i'm also not saying the old fics were better. there used to be a LOTTT of inconsistency with the characterization of a lot of side characters like dorcas and mary and marlene. i love that the new fandom has given these characters a chance to shine. (well, the male ones at least...) i'm also also not saying that the slytherins should be just bad guys again. i feel like we've flopped from making them total assholes to angels that rebel a little bit.

i could honestly talk about the issues within the marauders fandom for literal hours, but the slytherins are something that has bothered me for a while now. don't be scared to make your skrunklies evil, they don't even have to be evil the whole time you can give them a killer redemption arc 👍

Hello! Just wanted to reach out and say hi. I went through a bunch of your posts a few weeks ago (some of them are sitting in my queue lol) and I really like your insight. Remus is nowhere near my fav marauder (Sirius Black for the win!) but I enjoy your posts about him. I think Remus is a fascinating character - I think all the marauders era kids are interesting - but I think the whitewashing of Remus by fandom made him seem more boring then he actually is.

So two questions. What is your favourite thing about Remus? Who is your second favourite marauder after Remus??

My favourite thing about my pretty little woof woof man...? His silly mustache <3 and pretty grey hairs <3 His complex mix of thoughts, emotions and instincts on literally everything, its like his brain is a storm of conflicting drives. (unlike Sirius for example, who is quite straight forward) But seriously: I am disabled. I have an invisible digestive disability that doctors don't want to engage with because they don't know what to call it, and thus the paperwork is a nightmare for them. There's no treatments that have worked and it prevents me from living a normal life, even if I look relatively 'normal' most of the time.

The moment I trust a doctor - or sometimes even a friend... I've had the carpet pulled from under my feet more often than not. People not understanding the full severity of it because they always see me at my best... or just not caring as much as I thought they did. It's started to harm my mental health, which sucks because growing up I had surprisingly good mental health other than PTSD.

After a particularly bad hospital visit last year I had a bit of a breakdown, which lead me to re-discovering Harry Potter. (My sister was a potterhead - I was a bit too young for it.) And Remus Lupin was just.... there. In all his glory. Being a shockingly good representation of what disabled people like me go through internally, within a series most are throwing away right now. I really, really love that about him. He has a shocking about of depth from that angle specifically, when most disabled characters are written to either have their whole life dictated by their issue - or to have their issue basically erased through amazing future prosthetics.

My second favourite is Sirius Black. Sexy man. I kinda think Oldman half-assed the role - but thats ok because he is very pretty and I can look at him.

But I like him for similar reasons, ultimately: He is an absolute wonderful case of mental health. Azkaban is not a prison of physical torture - you sit ialone in a room with a Dementor just outside your door stealing all your best memories and leaving you with sorrow. It's Depression. Deep, dark, lonely Depression. It's being trapped in not just your own room but your own head. When he gets out - when he is given something to believe in, and has the drive to get out - life isn't too different. He turns to drinking. He throws all of himself to the one bright spark in his life: His godson.

If you mean teenage Marauders - I think my second favourite might be Peter, just because he intrigues me - but I don't have too much interest in teen marauders. I'm here for sad men, not teens.

From what ive seen of 'Marauder fandom' stuff on Remus... I honestly don't know how you can look at an insecure man with a goofy mustache that learns all the kids names before class, offers chocolate and tea to students and says 'marvelous' - and think he was some sort of tall, tough, gruff and snarky 'teen wolf' teenager. It IS flat and boring. He had so much more going on (as does Sirius) then being just another Alpha Werewolf Dom + White Twink Sub combo. Wolfstar shippers deserve better.

I tend to re-read a lot, especially fav chapters from different stories before going to sleep. It may not be a linear re-read, but you bet I end up going through the whole thing more than once eventually. Right now, my comfort fics are:

Summary: It had all happened on Wednesday 3rd of September 1973; Minerva committed the date to memory. She would always be amazed that this discussion could happen in the first place. If the boy hadn’t been unconscious, would they even have learnt anything before it was too late?

Guardian fic but Snape is the ward in this one. AU set in the Marauders Era.

What Dreams Reveal, by @mariagvogel (HP, 5k, complete)

Summary: The plan had seemed simple. James had never heard about the existence of the Memento Memoriam potion, but once Sirius had explained how it worked, he’d known it was exactly what they needed. Memento Memoriam, read Lily’s old Potions book, unveils even the deepest memories, allowing both the brewer and the drinker to revisit them in the form of dreams and interact with them. “This means,” Sirius had said, bright-eyed, “that if we give it to the brat, we not only get to see how adult Snivellus got turned into a child, but we also get to ask him whatever we want!” James hadn’t been so excited at first, but it didn’t take too much insistence to overcome his reluctance.

Summary: An all time low in crime rate causes Endeavor to fall in the Hero ranking in an alarming pace, and somehow the Hero finds himself being forced by his PR team to take on a variety show appearance - one that is centered around the Todoroki family. When his distanced family is suddenly back at the forefront of his life, he is slowly forced to realize that rankings were really never enough.

A Todoroki Enji character study where he realizes his wrongdoings much, much earlier. Set around eleven years earlier from the start of MHA.

I'm a heterosexual Ravenclaw female. I like to read and write. I used to peer tutor. I like to laugh. My sense of humor is pretty sarcastic. I like to play board games and watch movies and TV. I like being outside but just to relax and enjoy the weather. No camping or serious hiking for me lol. I have green eyes and dark blonde hair. Think you could do a ship for both ears? If not whichever you want is fine. 😊

You sound so awesome! (Total side note: but yall or too cool for me wtf I just adore you) I kinda went off with the marauders ship, and since I wrote so much for it I decided not to do the Lightning Era ship, which I hope you don’t mind, but if you really want one just let me know and I’ll get to it. Also sorry this took me forever, I’m the worst at posting/writing. But I hope you enjoy it! <3

Anyways, based off of everything here is what I think....

Marauders Era

I ship you with James Potter...

- He saw you were giving peer tutoring lessons so he lied and said he needed “loads of help. Please, you’d be doing me a huge favor. I’ll pay ya back?” he’d say with a wink, you’d roll your eyes and fight your smile because truth be told him and his friends always made you laugh with their pranks and you were always a little curious about this charming and handsome boy.

- You agree, in the name of education and graciousness of course. No other reason... none at all. Definitely not because he smelled good, and you knew he was passing that class with flying colors and so he had to be into you too, right?

- He was, oh god he was so into you. He spent more time staring at you than the books you used to study. It was often you’d look up to see if he was “registering” the information and he’d just be gazing up at you through his glasses, mouth slightly agape in a smile. You’d blush and ask him an on-topic question, he’d answer correctly and you’d only blush more.

- He always made you laugh till your stomach was in knots and the two of you were kicked out of the library. It was one of those time when he asked you out on your guy’s first “date”.

- The two of you were standing outside the library doors, cheeks flushed and eyes alight with humor. He told the worlds best story about his first time on a broom, and how he thought he could fly into outer-space and bring back a star for his mom. (he was very little and didn’t know any better, his dad of course was right next to him and raced after him, but James was so fast. Afterwards at dinner they scowled him, but knew he would be just great at quidditch.)

- “But it’s all true, all of it,” he says, laughing as you shake your head in disbelief. He is walking beside you as you two wander the halls, not sure where to go but not wanting to part from one another. “But I’ll tell you, nothing has ever made me feel so free. Just flying like that, nothing can hold you back.” he says, a large smile on his face. You smile up at him and his heart nearly drops.

- “Sounds nice,” You mutter, only half paying attention to your own words because James looked so kissable then. He smiled wider and walked closer to you, blushing as his nerves took over. “I could teach ya? If ya want, of course.” He asks you. Without hesitation you say yes.

- That weekend you spend the whole Saturday together, learning, it seems as though he was the tutor now. You nearly fell off the broom from laughing so hard, and James’s face would genuinely twist with worry when you would try new moves, he wouldn’t want you getting hurt. The weather was just wonderful and the brisk breeze caressed your skin, yet the sun kept you warm.

- It was on that beautiful day, that you two laid back on the field of grass to rest and enjoy the weather, he leaned over and kissed you. You were in shock and he almost pulled away, ready to apologies and die from embarrassment but then you started kissing him back and he found something he for sure liked more than flying...you.

- You two fell in love and have been dating ever since. His sense of humor is both terrible amazing puns, and sarcasm so you two are always laughing your hearts out with the rest of the Marauders or even just alone.

- You two play board games a lot because he actually started to like them around the same time he found out you did (coincidence...I think not). When you two played together he’d get so into it, he’d just stare down at the board and figure out his next move, giving you perfect time to admire him in silence. He truly was beautiful. You’d see his glasses inch down his nose, and he’d slowly push them back up, still focused.

- Whenever you let him win (rarely) he’d would boast about it all day, but it made him so happy you learned to sit there and take it, you knowing the truth about your mad skills was enough. Sirius and Remus knew it too.

- He’d always watch movies and TV with you, but only if you two were cuddled up. It’s the only thing that helped him stay still long enough to really get lost in and take in the film. His fav cuddle positions were when you’d lay in-between his legs, ontop of him, and cuddle your head on his chest, you were so warm and he’d play with your hair and give you forehead kisses .

- Or, his all time fav cuddle was when it was switched, and he was laying atop your chest. He loved how he could hear your heartbeat, and feel when you laugh. You also just run your hands through his hair and if he isn’t careful he could just fall asleep like that, zenned out and warm.

- Since you like being outside so much, but no hard activities (gurl, same!) he would always set up a picnic for the two of you. Outside on nice days, he’d cover your eyes and lead you across campus to this spot beneath a nice, shady tree. Lying underneath it would be a blanket, your favorite book and foods, and some pillows. He’s let you lay your head in his lap and he’d read aloud to you. He’d put on voices for the characters and make sarcastic commentary that always made you laugh.

- During quidditch matches he gave you his spare jersey to wear and begged you to “Just for one day, be a Gryffindor. I’ll give ya me jersey, splash some face paint on ya, and no one will tell the difference.” because he’d want for you to sit with Remus, and Sirius and Peter and cheer him on, because then he wouldn’t have to look all over the stands for his favorite group of cheerleaders. You always kissed him before a match for good luck, he swears by it.

- But he also loved that you were a Ravenclaw. He admired your intelligence, wit and creativity the most and it wasn’t like you were lacking the Gryffindor traits that he took so much pride in. He also liked the different perspective you could give him on situations considering your different houses really shaped you both individually and he spent a lot of time with fellow Gryffindors.

- He’d pull the best puppy eyes to convince you to let him read whatever you are writing. He adores every word you put on paper and even asks to keep his favorite story of yours that you’ve written so he can read it over summer.

- Overall, you both love and support one another so much! And it was a match made by cupid himself aka me

Fan Fic Tag Game 2020

Fandoms: I was active in the HP, Spider-Verse, and ATLA/LoK fandoms this year.

1. Fic that was the hardest to write/you spent the most time on: The fic I’ve spent the most time on is Long Way From Home, the eighth story in my Severus has a little sister AU series. It’s not really been difficult to write per se, just time-consuming. There’s just been so much I’ve had to write to tell the story.

2. Fic you spent the least time on/easiest to write: I think it’s no surprise the stories I’ve spent the least time on this year are the one-shots I’ve written. Like My Ancestors Behind Me, Names, The Sky is Wrecked and Full of Rotting Clouds. However, I would say my easiest to write has been To Make The Bridge. Once @ailec-12 gave me the idea for it, the story just really came together in no time. It’s essentially all written except for an epilogue I’m still deciding on.

3. Longest fic: The longest fic I have worked on this year is They Didn’t Know We Were Seeds. I haven’t really written a lot for it this year though. I would say the longest story I’ve put the most work into this year is Long Way From Home.

4. Shortest fic: My Ancestors Behind Me. It’s 836 words.

5. Fic you were nervous to post: I really don’t get nervous before posting. However, I think the story I felt most uncertain about before posting was The Prince's Return. I wasn’t sure what kind of audience there would be for it. However, now that I’ve posted, there does seem to be a small amount of intrigued readers, so I’m happy!

6. How do you choose your titles: I really don’t have a set way of doing it. Like, I guess I just try to find something that sort of tells what the story is about. For example, with my Spider-Verse stuff, there’s one story called An Unexpected Visitor. Surprise surprise, during the story someone unexpected visits. Lots of the stories written in that fandom have uncreative titles like that.

7. Fave fic you read: I think I’ll pick a one-shot and a multi-chapter. I discovered and really enjoyed pretend you don't have one by TheTartWitch. It’s an AU nonlinear one-shot about Severus Snape from the start of his time at Hogwarts until I wanna say shortly before Harry becomes a student. My favorite multi-chapter is Salvage by MuffinLace. It’s an atla AU where Zuko ends up on Hakoda’s ship and ends up basically being adopted by him. I absolutely loved and am loving seeing Zuko become his kid and a part of the crew.

8. Fave fic you wrote: That’s hard. I don’t think I could say I have an all-time fav. I liked writing everything, but To Make The Bridge was especially enjoyable. It’s been a really relaxing story to put together actually.

9. Fave comment: This one from @ailec-12:

“AHHH, the feelings of this chapter! Finally, Sirius realises that Severus's odd behaviour is a consequence of the abuse he suffers (suffered) at home. I like that we have the same headcanons regarding how Sirius reacted when arguing with his parents. I think it fits him a lot that he felt better for "earning" his punishments without giving up on doing something to fight them.

Snape had never taken anything from him or James or anyone else lying down. Why would he do the same with his parents? What made them so different? Just because they were supposedly authority figures he let them belittle and hurt him for no good reason? That didn't sound right. Sometimes, even with the professors, Severus would row with them over detentions and lost points.

Ohhh, but this quote. I, too, think that the reason why Severus never backed down from a fight at Hogwarts is to regain some control. Whether it was fighting the Marauders even outnumbered or confronting professors, he was convincing himself he was not a coward, he could start some fights and win them. As always, this is my headcanon, since we hardly have any information about day-to-day affairs in the Marauders' Era. It's so fun to try and guess, though! Especially when you see some of your guesses reflected in a fic.

Also, Sirius realising that he's behaved somewhat similarly to his own parents with Severus and, right away, feeling crushed by guilt is everything I needed to read today. His apology is another big step to improve their relationship further. I love reading character development and I wonder how sixteen-year-old Severus would react to it —whether he would still be willing to accept that apology or would firmly believe it's all a trap.

The scene with the chocolate frog card was adorable and just the cherry on top Sirius's apology needed. It also reminded me I'd sorta forgotten about them in my fic, hahaha. I'll have to introduce them as a tribute to your story!

He'd have to find a way to make the friendship he made with this boy-Snape stick and pull him over to the right side of things when they were the same age.

Yesssss. Now, I can't stop picturing the Marauders (plus Lily) introducing Severus to Remus's parents. So freaking adorable.

And that cliffhanger after all the wonderful feelings!!! I can't wait to keep reading!”

Without it, To Make The Bridge would not exist. And as I said before, it’s been a lot of fun writing it. So this is my fav comment this year :)

10. Fic you want to rewrite/expand on: I won’t, but I guess if there’s any story I’d rewrite ever it’s They Didn’t Know We Were Seeds. It’s a hundred chapters. I think I could definitely go back and combine a lot of chapters and practically halve the length as well as just improve what’s there to be more fleshed out. As for what I could definitely expand on, it’d be my Severus has a little sister AU series. I already have plans for a story after Long Way From Home, but that story has already got me thinking about even more stories for the series.

11. Share a bit of your WIP or share a story idea that you’re planning: Ah so many choices. I’ve been writing a little bit here and there for all of my WIPs lately. Here’s a little something from what will be the second chapter of The Prince's Return:

“I can’t say I know what happens after this for you, but it seems to me whatever negotiations Jinora and Tenzin have with the spirit world on your behalf will end well and everything will be put right again,” he concluded, smiling in reassurance at the nonplussed boy.

Zuko stepped back and out of his grip. “Nothing ever goes that smoothly for me,” he declared like a threat — or, maybe, a warning.

Iroh showed his palms to the boy. “I don’t know what to say to that,” he said. His grandfather had never seemed that unlucky to him. In fact, Iroh had thought he was always very lucky. Against all odds, he’d changed the world for the better.

12. What was your goal for your fics this year? Did you meet it?: I didn’t have any hard goals really. I wanted to finish a few things, which I did. However, I also started a few things, so, I’m not really writing less. Which is actually okay. That was also something I hoped I would do this year. Write more than I didn’t.

13. What is your goal for your fics next year?: Finish Long Way From Home, To Make The Bridge, and The Prince's Return.

14. Highlight of your fandom year: The new season of The Umbrella Academy? That was fun and I liked checking out the new fanfics that came out after it too. Also, The Haunting of Bly Manor was fun to binge around Halloween.

15. Highlight of your personal year: I finished a couple of traditionally published books, as well as a cross-stitch and am halfway done with another.

some marauders era harry potter with a focus on their characters and their relationships with socio-political tension as the backdrop. i get really into expanding on the harry potter world both with the fantastical aspects of magic and the more gritty details of the wizarding world like economy and politics and social ideologies like pureblood supremacy. basically looking for a nice cathartic harry potter drama to run parallel with the bullshit we have going on irl with a pinch of lgbt romance thrown in. some feel good hurt-comfort as the characters grapple with their sense of right and wrong, family tension, friends they thought they could trust being seduced by voldemort’s movement and recruiting, et cetera. DRAMA!! LOVE!! ACTION!! adult wizards as the main characters but with flashbacks to their school days thrown in for funsies ( maybe they were friends back then, had a crush on each other, etc ).

i have plenty of other interests as well but that’s what i’m in the mood for at the moment. that being said if you have an idea you’re passionate about, preferably some kind of fantasy (urban, epic, historic, original world, fandom-based, whatever—) and you think we’d be a good fit, hmu anyways and tell me about it because enthusiasm is contagious and if we’re on the same wavelength, the genre doesn’t really matter. having similar preferences when it comes to the general how and what is more important to me than the genre or world.

age requirement. i’m in my twenties and i prefer other people in the 20-30 range. my characters are 21–36, sometimes older in ongoing rps where the characters have aged. i rarely write teenagers or ‘young adult’ genre rps ( vld is an exception ).

content. i like to write mature content— and i don’t just mean smut. i love writing about complex social and political dramas, as well as interpersonal tension. other ‘dark’ content which may not appear in the rp itself, but may be mentioned in respect to my character’s pasts, include: crime, illness, loss, trauma, violence, drug use, and human sexuality. i’m also totally capable of writing action, bdsm, horror, gothic/spooky vibes, and gore—just not excessive/fetishy—but these are optional and can be left out if they’re not your cup of tea.

substance. far more important than the length of a post, i’m looking for an rp partner who can contribute to the story and help keep the roleplaying moving forward— not someone who puts in the bare minimum and expects their partner to do all the work required to keep the rp interesting. i don’t mind taking point now and then, in fact I volunteer—! but i’m not looking to lead every interaction between our characters, come up with every plot twist, et cetera. i want a partner who wants to work together to create a fun rp. if you’re just looking for someone to write you a story and entertain you for free without any engagement or enthusiasm on your part, please spare me.

style. my writing is character-driven. the way i like to set up roleplays is to have a basic concept for the story, then introduce characters who have their own agendas. the character should be able to exist on their own—as opposed to the types of characters who exist solely as plot devices, with no solid personality or history, changing from post to post to suit the whims of the writer. i’m not looking for someone who will break character just to get a desired result. basically i run my rps like a dungeons and dragons campaign. most of what i write is plot-driven scenarios meant to test the characters and their relationship(s) through a series of challenges and emotionally charged situations.

shipping. romance isn’t necessary—our characters can be close platonic friends, rivals with a complicated relationship, or whatever else. but i do love romance and have a strong preference for it. i’m a queer man and i like to write mlm. my characters are all queer, whether they’re gay, bisexual, transgender, nonbinary, or something else. plus i love transgender, genderqueer, agender, genderfluid and nonbinary characters. and that’s that on that. i’m also down for the occasional non-heteronormative mxf. give me two flaming bisexuals disgusted at being perceived as ye old straight couple in public. i love that shit. but tbh i lean more towards mlm these days just because i already have plenty of good mxf romance in my life from media and i’m over here craving the kinda wholesome mlm content that doesn’t exist outside of fanfic and rps.

The first character you loved:

Dustin for sure. I went in to this knowing that I would so maybe that’s why but the kid is like a young, more science-loving me and it’s kind of weird.

This was so long ago ummmm...I mean probably Harry because he’s the first one you meet? But also probably Hagrid because he’s the first like positive influence in Harry’s life.

It was Jim. Let’s just be honest.

The character you never expected to love so much?

Jim Hopper. When he first showed up in that ‘I overslept here’s a montage of me getting ready all with a cigarette’ scene, I thought for sure he was gonna be that asshole cop that doesn’t believe anything and makes literally everything difficult. Clearly (and thankfully) I was wrong.

The Marauders as a whole really. Like I knew I’d love Sirius and and Lupin because they’re actual characters that Harry is sort of close to. But the Marauders is my fav era and they’re the characters I read and write about sooo...

Ryan? I watched this show thinking I wouldn’t like it in general but I think Ryan was the one that I consistently thought was a terrible person but still laugh at everything he does.

The Character you relate to the most:

Ummm...probably Pam? I’ve been thinking about this for a while and until just now am I realizing how much like Pam I think I am. Weird.

It is quite a list that I could answer with but I’m gonna go with who I’ve affectionally nicknamed Patricia. The older woman who kills Benny. Ironically they’ve now added a character named Patricia. I hope they change that.

Ah the names I could put. But I think I’m gonna go with...Snape? I don’t see him popping up anywhere else on this for me and I need to make my stance known. And I would do more than slap. I can’t stand that guy.

Most of the time Michael. Spoiler alert - I really do not like Michael Scott.

This has yet to happen so I’m gonna give you a character that I really want to like but I’m just sort of eh about: Jonathan Byers. For all intents and purposes I should like this guy. But I can’t get into his storyline and it’s really annoying to me.

Dumbledore. After it was all said and done and I finished the series, I still liked him. But then I just read a lot about like all of the actual terrible things that he did and fully realized the terribleness that is Albus Dumbledore.

Toby. Every time I watch the show I like him a little less.

A character you did not like at first, but do now

Again, not a thing? And I have no alternatives for you.

Interesting...Narcissa Malfoy. Kind of a weird one but I just really appreciate the fact that she saved Harry and that like...her son meant more to her than anything. Also, I think I read that she was never a real death eater and to me it just feels like she was stuck in a crummy situation. I don’t know.

Probs Angela. I have the exact opposite situation going on with her that I do Toby. Every re-watch I like her more and more.

Avoided Truths (Remus Lupin x Reader)

Fandom: Harry Potter (Marauders Era )

Pairing: Reader x Young Remus Lupin

Warnings: None, just angst

Request: The Apprentice by the Gorillaz with Remus Lupin, please? The Gorillaz are my fav band, Remus is my favorite HP character, and the lyrics kind of resonate with him? Thank you so much

Authors note: this was supposed to be a drabble and I had trouble sticking to the song but heyyy its okay.

Word Count: 1.7k

It had been three days since you had seen Remus, you tried to find him everywhere. You searched his classes, looked for him at meals, waited in the common room until you fell asleep. You tried to not make it apparent that you were looking for him, you guys had only been dating about two months so you didn’t want to be too clingy.

You had asked Sirius where he was and he had just told you that Remus was sick and would feel better in a couple days. You didn’t want to seem impatient but none of it made sense and you just wanted to see him again.

Another day had gone by without seeing him, you were starting to worry if he just wanted to break up with you but didn’t have the heart to do it, he knows you cry easily. You knocked on the dorm door determined for answers but were greeted with James’ almost too forced ‘smiley’ face as he closed the door behind him, the two of you standing in the hallway.

“Hello, Y/n, how can I help you?”

You smiled. “Is Remus there, can I see him.”

James responded immediately, not fumbling over any words like he knew you were going to ask that and he had an excuse prepared. “Oh, Rem is still sick, you see he is pretty contagious so it’s best you stay away.”

You rolled your eyes. “Well if he is that sick shouldn’t he be seeing Pomfrey? And are you guys magically immune to his sickness?”

James was prepared for both those questions as well. “Nah, we have it all under control, Peter whipped up a good old potion so indeed we are as you said, magically immune.”

You liked James a lot but his smugness was becoming over bearing, and you could tell these were all made up excuses, confirming that Remus really didn’t want to see you. You couldn’t help but let a tear fall from your cheek as you blinked the rest away and said a small “okay” to James before trying your best to casually walk away.

You may be one to cry easily but you are also stubborn so you waited just around the corner for the other boys to leave the room. You weren’t going to spend all night crying without confirming your emotions.

James went back into the room and rested his head on the closed door and without even looking at Remus said “That is the last time I lie to Y/N for you Moony, she is much too smart to believe a word that leaves my mouth.” Remus was lying in his bed, he wasn’t sick but he was pretty badly injured from the last full moon, he still had not told you he was a werewolf and wanted to avoid it as long as possible.

Remus sighed “I thought I would have longer than two months with her before she started getting suspicious, Sirius will you talk to her next time she comes by.” Peter laughed from under his many pillows he had piled on his small bed “If she won’t believe James’ bullshit she isn’t going to believe Sirius’ either.”

James piped In again “Also there is nothing I hate more than making girls cry, especially Y/N.”

Remus quickly sat up in his bed, guilt instantly weighing down on him “She started crying!”

James realized he maybe shouldn’t have mentioned that right now but it was too late. “Uh, yeah just a few little tears but she wiped them away and left.”

Remus was not looking at the wound he just re opened by his quick movement, right now he was more concerned with you. “And you just let her walk away?”

James just shrugged his shoulders as Peter added. “James isn’t the smartest when it comes to girls.” James just threw a pillow at peter, who didn’t seem to mind as it added to the mountain he was already lying in.

Remus was facing the fact that he would probably have to tell you the truth and that scared him more than anything.

You waited for about an hour before all three boys were out of their dorm at once and you took your chance immediately and rushed to the door. You slowly put your hand on the knob and took a deep breath before you turned it, you opened the door and entered the room backwards facing it as you closed the door again.

You were scared to turn around, scared of what would happen when Remus saw you but before you could muster up the courage you heard him speak “Y/n wha- what are you doing in here, I’m sick you should leave.” He pulled his body under his blankets, trying to cover his wounds.

You turned around. “Remus, if you want to break up with me or if I did something wrong please tell me, I know you’ve been avoiding me for days and I just can’t take this game any long-” Remus didn’t even let you finish. “Y/N I don’t want to break up with you how could you ever think that?“ You walked towards his bed and sat at the end, Remus still hiding under his blankets.

“How can I think that? Well it’s pretty easy when you give me three days of not speaking to me for no reason!” Your eyes started to tear up again, remembering the three anxiety filled days you spent waiting for him to talk to you.

At the sight of seeing you getting upset Remus’ instincts kicked in and he went to sit up to hold you and comfort you but the second he sat up all of his wounds were very clearly visible, Remus tried to pull the blanket back up, he expected you to run away but as you grabbed your wand he was very confused.

You muttered a spell so quiet he couldn’t even make out the words but as he looked to the wounds that covered his chest he noticed they were slowly disappearing, not perfectly but it was like nothing he had ever seen. The look of concentration on your face would have been adorable if Remus didn’t get a shooting pain through his chest, he held back a groan knowing you were trying your best.

You noticed that you had caused him pain but the biggest wound was the hardest to heal and you can’t half heal it, that would hurt more so with your free hand you squeezed his clammy one to reassure him, in between spells you muttered “sorry Rem”.

By the time you were done the wounds were all closed, the bruising had gone down quite a lot, you were nowhere near perfect so the scars left behind were messy. You ran your hand over his chest admiring your work.

“Y/N, I didn’t know you were a healer?” You looked up at him “I’m not, my mum is, but she has taught me a lot, I have three older brothers it came in handy a lot.” Remus smiled thinking of you being little and being picked on by your brothers and healing yourself but he couldn’t ignore the elephant in the room.

Remus broke the silence “I’m sorry I shut you out, I never should have done that, it wasn’t fair to you.” You moved closer to him placing both of your hands on his “Rem, I will forgive you if you tell me everything, tell me now and don’t lie to me. We need to trust each other if we want this to work.”

Remus nodded and you could tell he was thinking about what to say, you didn’t push him either you just waited until he spoke quietly “I uh- I do want this to work Y/N, but I understand if after I tell you this, you want to leave me.” You just squeezed his hands in yours urging him to continue talking.

“Y/N I’m a monster, I’m a uh, I’m a werewolf okay and it’s not pretty or cool and I hate everything about it, I’m extremely lucky to have my friends to help me but I’m still a monster.”

He expected you to run and hide from him or even be disgusted but you instead hugged him, his head quickly rested in the crook of your neck as your hand rubbed his back.

“I won’t leave you over something like that Rem, something you can’t control.” Remus spoke up. “It is something I can’t control and I don’t want you getting involved, I’m not over exaggerating when I say this, I am a monster, I’m a broken screen like a mad routine and it never ends.”

You just kept the same calm tone as you spoke “If it’s part of you than I will love it as I do every other part.” You heard him make a small sniffle and felt his tears on your shoulder so you kept the embrace.

You stayed like that for a bit, eventually lying down and Remus being the little spoon. When the boys came back they didn’t ask any questions they just accepted that you now knew and didn’t bother to wake the two of you when it had gone past curfew. Remus needed someone to love him unconditionally the way you do, because even though he had the love of the other boys, cuddling them just wasn’t the same, and it would be pretty useful to have a healer on hand for future full moons.
