Going higher and higher to the treeline’s tips for a nose-first drop, grass snapped to a bow against the ground in order to make way. Bugs fled, dew on the waxy green strands hissed to a fine mist in their passing, and wildflower petals burst into fireworks- leaving a seasonal, spring-speckled trail.

Family Branches, Chapter One: A Man and a Family

So like you guys should totally go check out @scarin-aaarin 's fic Family Branches on Ao3, really adore this chapter and this imagery in particular has been stuck in my head for months, I keep meaning to draw it and very excited to share it with you guys. Maggie and Eileen beloved TvT

Akdkf the fic is the story for both Legacy Link and Autumn Link and ajdjfk Hero's Shade vibes beloved, love mentor and mentee relationships so much and their connection is at the heart of the story and TvT (honestly one of the things that drew me to LU once upon a time was the connection between different links, hero's from legends and their successors getting to meet and talk and akdkfkg we've had a lot of fun taking that premise and running with it with our own characters)

Danny couldn't really explain why he always answered this specific summoning ritual. It was like a feeling. One of warmth. Of a mug of hot cocoa in your hands and a nice weighted blanket dropped around your shoulders as a fire blazed in the hearth in front of you, keeping the chill in the rest of the room at bay.

Danny always lost himself in the sensation and found himself back in that stupid circle of protection with that same wierd guy demanding answers. But Danny didn't know anything about a "Lazarus Pit" or a "Pit Madness" let alone a cure for it. Even if he did he wasn't going to tell Red Robin anything after all the times he'd used the marriage summoning spell to get him here.

Earlier on Red had explained it was the only spell known to thier universe that could summon an entity from "The Lazarus Dimension" Which he guessed was another name for the ghost zone and Phantom was the only one to ever be summoned.

Danny couldn't help but wonder why...

After escaping Bird boy and his supernatural pop quiz (oh look, another test for him to flunk) he returns home only to discover his parents had seen him get summoned and accused him of being a ghost that replaced thier baby boy.

Naturalally the next time Red Robin had summoned Phantom he was angry. He was tired and dirty from being on the run from his parents, his worlds US government, and Vlad. Not to mention his own rogues gallery didn't exactly cut him any slack.

So Danny decided that if Red Robin wanted to abuse the power of a marriage ritual than the very least he can do is put his money where his mouth is.

Danny grinned and exited the magic circle, taking delight in Reds widening eyes before he lunged. A kiss sealed the deal, making sure Danny had a safeish place to stay.

After all, married couples in the infinite realms were obligated and even compelled to protect and care for eachother.

Broppy parent AU moment that is STUCK in my brain for months and I'm dying to draw it. But for now I'll write it out for my own sanity...

It's a moment where Branch has a one-on-one visit with Bruce right after Ivy hatches. Bruce is visiting Branch at his home while Poppy is out with Viva, mostly because she's letting them have their time to bond, especially since Bruce is the only one out of all the bros who is a father and has been around the block a couple times, this is the perfect moment for he and Branch to be emotionally raw with one another. Branch is quiet, and Bruce asks him what's on his mind. Both of them sitting together while Branch has his eyes fixated on his newborn child as she's bundled, asleep, on a small bed in their living room. Bruce can see a softness in Branch that he hadn't seen before, a feeling he knows too well as a father. Branch opens up to Bruce, telling him about how there was a time in his life where he was afraid of everything, prepared for anything, and confident in his ability to protect himself from the world. After meeting Poppy, he stopped shutting himself out and while still being cautious, he became less afraid of his surroundings and gained a whole new outlook on his life. But his voice shakes as he looks down at Ivy, and he confesses that now that she's here, suddenly the world feels bigger and scarier than it's ever been. Because he's now so focused on protecting her.

it boggles my mind that JD is likely the most touch starved out of his brothers. like, branch went gray, but he also stayed with the village, and was routinely roped into hug-time against his will. floyd, for all of my own speculating, must have at least kept around civilization. clay had the putt putt community & viva, and bruce had his own family.

but JD..?

all of the information we can glean about him implies that he went off to the middle of nowhere and just. stayed there alone. roughed it pop idol style....

and there's something so deeply, incredibly sad about that. JD makes my heart hurt, the poor idiot.

(floyd is no. 2 on the touch-starved list. to me. the life of a transient musician is not one filled with a lot of contact. this is part of the reason that this moment vvv)

In the talking about the death of Percy's family it's normally in reference to his parents and siblings, when in reality it was almost surely a significant number more people than that.

At minimum either his parents or grandparents would have had some siblings and some of them must have still been in Whitestone. And also two other 'Houses' in the city, one of which originated with Melanie de Rolo's cousin Ivan von Musel. It feels really unlikely that there wouldn't have been some mixing between these three Houses over the generations. They all would have ended up at least a little related by blood or marriage eventually.

The odds that Percy and Cassandra didn't have at least a few aunts, uncles, and cousins is pretty low.

Any one of those folks could have been a potential issue when the Briarwoods took over. The fact that all of the former nobles families had been replaced (beside Anders) on top of no one coming out of the woodwork once the Briarwoods were gone tells me that anyone in Whitestone that was even distantly related to the de Rolo family was killed.
