Trick or treat! 🩶👻💀
so if I were going to rewrite Teen Wolf (which I'm not, because tragically I have neither the time nor the energy), I’d start about halfway through season 2. Peter and Kate have both died, and the cycle of vengeance and cruelty has, in theory, died with them – but Gerard Argent has come to town, Derek is turning teenagers into werewolves, and everyone’s got, just, so much ptsd. Nothing has really been laid to rest. A man is not dead while his ghost still haunts your nightmares.
Also there’s a giant lizard running around killing people – hi, Jackson! – and Lydia’s hearing voices and, eventually, seeing things. In my rewrite that will not culminate in Peter Hale coming back to life, because fuck him, but she is going to be a banshee and it is going to suck for a while. Probably she finds a lot of dead bodies. But my rewrite will also actually feature the found family trope, because I have taste, so eventually someone will give her a hand with learning to control those powers at least a little bit. Maybe we can strong-arm Dr. Deaton into voicing a useful sentence from time to time. Maybe she can even join the pack a little bit, what a concept.
Which brings us to Derek! Personally I deeply enjoy him trying his damndest to be a good alpha and failing miserably, because he doesn’t have the temperament for it and he’s too full up on grief and trauma to make up for that, and having a lot of complicated awful emotions knotted around that because as the last living Hale, he’s the only one left to carry on his family’s legacy, and he’s failing at it. He’s failing terribly. He’s failing his sister, his parents, everyone who ever mattered to him, and he’s trying so hard but it’s just not enough, he’s not enough. Isn’t that awful? This poor guy.
Scott, however, is a natural leader. He’s not very good at it on account of how he’s 16 and doesn’t have any practice, but he does have the temperament, once he grows up a little, and he has the bullheaded optimism and stubborn insistence on caring for people that will allow him to slowly but surely become the steady rock on which all the rest of these traumatized teenagers can brace themselves.
So Derek gets to watch as Scott, who’s not even an alpha, builds a makeshift pack of humans – Stiles, Allison, Lydia a little bit, Jackson in a complicated way – and starts to pull Derek’s actual betas out from underneath him just by virtue of being someone they can turn to when they’re scared. Derek wants to be that for them, and he can be someone who’ll destroy their enemies and teach them to defend themselves against violence, but he can’t comfort people. He can’t give them warmth. He can’t give them self-confidence, he can’t give them a place to belong, no matter how much he wishes he could. He’s doing his best, and it’s not enough, but if Scott would just accept him as alpha then maybe Scott could be his second-in-command and this wouldn’t really be Derek failing—
And then Scott manifests his ~true alpha~ powers. And Derek realizes that, sooner or later, he’s going to lose everything. He’ll fight – god, he’ll fight to the last, this is all he has left of his family – but the only way he could really win would be to kill Scott or run him out of town, and that…that would be an even worse betrayal of his family’s legacy. Scott hasn’t actually done anything wrong. Scott has saved the lives of Derek’s pack more often than Derek himself has been able to, at this point. He can’t honor his family’s memory by becoming someone who would kill a teenager for power.
Maybe, he thinks, this will all culminate in a big throwdown fight, and maybe their alpha instincts will get the best of them both and it’ll be to the death. Maybe then he’ll die, here on his family’s land, as he should have died years ago. Maybe that’s the closest he’s ever going to get to peace.
#teen wolf#trick or treat!#is this a trick? is it a treat? only you can say#it's just I found a truly astonishingly good fic series that goes full canon divergence after gerard shows up#and now I have the teen wolf cravings again#and just bc I don't think derek makes a good alpha doesn't mean I don't love him#just means I want to put him in a pringles can and shake it violently etc etc

Paper Hearts Part 4
I finished it!! It will have 8 chapters. I'm excited for you guys to see where this goes! I'm still working on Sweet Home Indiana and will be focusing on that until ITS done. Then we'll be back our regularly schedule WIPs.
We have Eddie's big plan and Steve gets his flirt on.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
****
Steve slipped into the kitchen and there in his mother’s neat handwriting was a note telling him that there were leftovers in the fridge and that they would be home again next Friday.
He sighed and opened the fridge. He immediately closed it when he saw what the leftovers were.
Boiled cabbage with chopped bacon and carrots. It wasn’t bad if it was made correctly, but his mother boiled any flavor and nutrients out of the poor vegetables and then tossed in cooked bacon to hide its sins.
He opened the cupboard and pulled out a small can of Campbell’s chicken noodle soup and made that. He was craving the sodium. Eddie’s beef was good to get his body to stop shaking, but he had sweat so much he needed to replenish the salt he’d lost.
Once Steve had eaten and drank another glass of water he went to go get a shower and get ready for bed. It was no use trying to get back to his homework now. He had managed to blow up his whole evening by getting lost.
He had no idea how he got to Forest Hills or even why his feet carried him there in the first place. He could feel the weariness seeping into his bones from running for so long.
He undressed and got under the scorching water, letting the heat carry away his pains. His mind ran through all the things that Munson had done for him. The guy had no reason to be nice to him, but he had been more than gracious.
Then it hit him. Munson had called him Stevie, and without thinking Steve had called him Eds.
Eds.
Where the fuck did that come from? They weren’t friends, they could barely be considered acquaintances. Was his brain reaching out to the guy subconsciously? Is that why he ended up at the trailer park? Everyone knew that’s where Munson lived. Who knew how many times the guy had been called trailer trash, but the older teen seemed to rise above the insult.
Steve shook his head, spraying water everywhere. Just because Munson picked up lost sheep, didn’t mean he’d be willing to taken in an injured wolf. Because that’s what he was, reformed or not, Steve would never be a sheep. He would always be a wolf. A predator.
But at least as a wolf he could protect those kids with everything he had. And he would, even if it killed him.
The water had long since turned cold by the time Steve stepped out of the shower. He completed his after shower routine mostly on autopilot as he kept going over his interactions with both Munson men. He didn’t really have good interactions with dads or in this case uncles. But Munson’s uncle Wayne treated him with kindness and he could see where the older boy got it from.
He dressed into his pajamas and slid under the covers. He rolled over on his back and tucked one arm under his pillow, staring up at the ceiling.
Steve thought back to the apology. One Munson really didn’t have to give but did anyway. He thought about the other jocks that bragged about hurting his hand. He held it up and looked at the fading bruise. It wasn’t as though he was even basketball anymore. Hurting his hand wouldn’t do anything but make it hard to do his homework and all he had to do is show his teachers his hurt hand and he’d get extensions for that. Like he had for his concussion last November.
But then again Tommy H. never had reasons for the people he hurt either. He just liked the power he got seeing the person helpless.
He placed his hand over his heart and let himself drift off the sleep, brown eyes and dark curls haunting his dreams.
****
Eddie had originally bought the red heart for himself like he had told the two juniors. But staring at it now, he had a better plan for it. Because that last wall, that last bastion of defense crumbled to ashes when he realized that despite the fancy car, the big house, and the expensive clothes, Steve Harrington was more like Eddie than he thought possible.
Wayne’s approval of the boy cemented that for him. Because if he could take one look at Steve and decide he was worth saving, then Eddie raring to go full steam ahead for a rescue mission.
Eddie could tell that the hearts were made from simple construction paper, like the kind found just about anywhere. He knew it would be technically cheating to just simply make more instead of buying them, but he had no intention of contributing to a dance he was never going to go to because one, it wasn’t his year; two, the whole gay thing; and three, the one person he would want to go with if the gay thing wouldn’t get him hate crimed, wouldn’t give him the time of day.
Well, all right, that might have changed with the whole rescuing him from wandering alone in the dark thing.
He forgave Eddie about being a dumbass, so maybe there was hope for, at the very least, a vast decrease in hostility. And he was willing to take what he could get.
He decided to wait until tomorrow after school to get the construction paper and hope that the high school hadn’t bought up the town’s supply.
On his way out the next morning, Wayne stopped him.
“You don’t have to tell me, son,” he said gently, “but you got feelings for that boy?”
Eddie froze and turned slowly to face his uncle. “What gave you that idea?”
Wayne chuckled and shook his head fondly. “Boy, when you’d go on rants about the Harrington boy, you’d describe his floppy hair, his hazel eyes and how unfairly good looking the kid was. I didn’t say anything because it did sound like he’d been a bit of an ass. Only after last night I got to thinking and was wondering is all.”
Eddie closed his eyes and opened them slowly. He let out a long shuddering breath, his bottom lip quivering.
“I–I don’t...” he closed his eyes again. This wasn’t Al. He wasn’t going to get beat for admitting it, but still it was so hard to say. So he just nodded.
Wayne came up and wrapped his arms around his nephew. “It’s a hell of a lot tougher batting for the other team, but I trust your judgment. Just promise me that if he shows signs of liking you back, you take the chance to tell him how you feel because...”
“You miss one hundred percent of the chances you don’t take,” they said together.
Eddie dropped his bag to the floor and hugged him back. “I know, old man. But I promise if there is a chance, I’ll be brave enough to take it.”
“Get going,” Wayne said, voicing cracking with emotion.
He pulled back and nodded. He reshouldered his backpack and got in his van.
He had a lot to think about and that really wasn’t conducive to paying attention in class or to his friends as they talked about their upcoming D&D session.
Gareth kicked his shin causing him to yelp.
“What the fuck, dude?” Eddie hissed.
“What the fuck is up with you?” Gareth hissed back. “You’ve been going on and on about the mind flayer for weeks and now that it’s literally this weekend, and you’re off in some other realm.”
Eddie blinked at him for a moment before his brain came back on. He shook his head to clear it.
“Yeah, sorry, man,” he said around a pretzel. “Weird night last night.”
“What happened?” Jeff asked, tilting his head to the side.
So Eddie told them. “He was like a ghost, guys. If Wayne hadn’t seen him too, I would have thought I was hitting Mary Jane a little too hard, you know?”
“I didn’t realize he was getting bullied,” Brian said, frowning. “I would have thought with Hargrove giving the dude a wide berth, that everyone else would have too.”
“Untouchable,” Jeff agreed. “The fact that jocks are now splintering into factions tells you what kind of control Steve actually had on them.”
Eddie rubbed his chin. “I don’t know how true this is, but if Harrington wasn’t lying, he’s a real sweetheart, too.”
Then he leaned forward and explained about the pink heart scheme.
“So,” Gareth said, steepling his fingers and resting his chin on them, “you’re telling us is that we have been seriously remiss in our duties in collecting lost sheep.”
The older teen sighed and shook his head. “I’d like to collect him, but I’m afraid the wolves might decide to rip him apart before we got him to safety if we tried.”
Jeff winced. He knew what Eddie was talking about. Steve Harrington wasn’t the usual lost sheep. He might be bullied now, but as King, Harrington had run far too long with the wolves to think that they could protect him one hundred percent of the time.
“So what are we going to do?” Brian asked. “Because if we let this slide, we’re throwing our lot in with the bullies and that’s something I refuse to do.”
A grin spread out over Eddie’s face, closed lips and dimples entrenched into his cheeks. “We’re going to make the school think that he’s just as popular as he ever was.”
The other three boys looked at each other in confusion.
“So what have you got?” Gareth asked, his own grin starting to take over his face.
****
Eddie made sure to get to class early so he could see where Steve was going to sit. He tried to tell himself it was about the dude’s hand, but it wasn’t working. He wanted to see if the former Hawkins royalty would chose to sit with his old friends or by him again.
He didn’t have long to wait. Steve walked in not long after he did, just as the bell rang. He didn’t even look at his old desk near the front and beelined it for the chair he had sat in on Friday.
The teacher picked up on the change immediately and wrinkled her nose. “I am to suppose that you are taking up permanent residence in the back with Mr. Munson, Mr. Harrington?”
Steve half shrugged as he began to pull out his things for class. “I got more work done, Mrs. Dixon and I really want to graduate on time.”
Mrs. Dixon nodded. “Agreed and as long as you continue the level of attention from last week, you are permitted to stay there.”
About half way through class while Mrs. Dixon was grading papers, Tommy H. turned around and kicked Steve’s chair. “Suck up,” he hissed.
Steve puckered his lips and wagged his eyebrows. “Why? Do you want to be next?”
Tommy turned back around, his face bright red.
Eddie raised an eyebrow and cocked his head to the side as he considered everything about that interaction.
A little blossom of hope sprouted in his chest and he fought to keep it down. Steve had insinuated that other people were gay for years, but to Eddie’s highly trained gay ears, that sounded like Steve was offering to suck Tommy H.’s dick and that Tommy didn’t exactly turn him down.
Curiouser and curiouser, he thought tapping his lips thoughtfully. More research would have to be done.
He pulled out a different notebook, the one he used for campaign notes and song lyrics.
He wrote girls over one column and boys over the other and began tallying what he knew about the former King of Hawkins.
A shit ton went into the Steve liking girls column, but there was surprisingly more in the liking boys column then he would have thought possible. He looked up to catch Steve smirking at him.
Eddie quickly covered his notebook and stuck his tongue out at Steve.
The other boy shook his head and went back to doing the assignment. Eddie was more careful about what he left out in the open because he didn’t want Steve teased for it nor did he want him to see that Eddie was trying to figure him out.
The bell rang and the notebook was suddenly whisked off his desk.
“Hey!” Eddie cried, looking up to see Steve dancing away with the notebook teasingly. “Stevie!” He grabbed his bag and chased after the other boy. But the other boy was a jock and Eddie was wheezing for breath by the time he caught up with him at his locker.
“Give that back,” he huffed.
Steve gave him a bright smile and handed it back. “I just made a minor addition.”
Eddie frowned as he flipped through the pages but didn’t see anything. Steve took it back and turned to the correct page and leaned close so that only Eddie could hear.
“I trust you’ll keep my secret,” he whispered and then dropped to one knee to start getting into his locker.
Eddie gulped at the sight and turned to the paper to avoid saying something stupid. There in bold capital letters under his girls/guys columns was the word BOTH.
He looked up at Steve who had stood up. Steve winked at him and then walked away, leaving a shocked Eddie behind.

hi there follow creatives!! I’ve been going back and rereading some of my old plots and pairings and characters and have honestly just fallen in love with those muses allll over again (i know, im in trouble! lol). anyways, now, obviously, i’m on the hunt!
in tulsa and im 26, located in the PST region aka the west coast lol. i’ve been writing for over ten years and my main source of income is from entertainment news writing. i write via discord and in third person literate - adv. lit, but I honestly just try to match my partners in length haha. i also adore tupper, so if you use that i’ll love you forever, but if not it’s no dealbreaker either :)
okay, now that i’ve rambled, here’s what im looking for: someone 18+ to play against my newly revamped characters. some are ocs and some are canons (maybe slight canon-divergent), but most are fandom based. To preface: any characters who are typically underaged WILL be aged up to at least 18. To make it easier, i’ll just list the fandom and who im looking for my partner to play! The more *’s there are, means that’s what i’m currently craving, ah!
- Marvel: Loki Laufeyson**
- Teen Wolf: Derek Hale***, Stiles Stilinski, Isaac Lahey, Male OC
- Ouran High School Host Club: Kyoya Ootori*** or Hikaru Hitachiin (i also have a mid-sized group idea for this if anyone is interested 👀)
- Harry Potter: Draco Malfoy*** or Cedric Diggory
- American Horror Story: Tate Langdon*
- Stranger Things: Billy Hargrove**
- Criminal Minds: Spencer Reid**

Hey,
I hope that my question/recommendation is not to look for and find because I know how many fics you need to find all the time and your work is incredible but I'm craving for a sterek autumn fic. Something that has like Gilmore girls vibe, something that I can read and drown in the story.
Thanks even if you don't find anything ❤️
I'm not sure how gilmore girls this is (not to mention i live in tx which is hot as balls right now) but I hope you know if you leave, I will follow. Any. Anywhere that you tell me to.
[podfic] How many pumpkins is too many pumpkins? by Nutellargh
Shiver by canistakahari
(1/1 I 1,711 I Teen)
Stiles has really, really cold hands. Luckily, Derek knows just what to do about that.
Like leaves by lanalua
(1/1 I 2,722 I General)
When Stiles moved to Vermont to train as an emissary, he didn't expect to fall quite so hard.
Mr. Hale and the Terrible, No Good, Awful Autumn by bleep0bleep
(1/1 I 5,590 I Teen)
There's a new sheriff in town, and Derek definitely wants to date him. Unfortunately Stiles' son hates Derek's guts.
A Wolf In Autumn by theredhoodie
(1/2 I 7,895 I Teen)
Stiles keeps hearing about a black wolf around campus. It takes him a little longer than it should to connect the dots and realize that it's not just any wolf. It's his ex-boyfriend.
reason to stay by bleep0bleep
(7/7 I 12,564 I Teen)
Life is cruel. Derek Hale is only going to be here in Beacon Hills for a week. Sundays Fun Days is a lie. It was not fun, getting a bit of hope and having it torn away.
How much wooing can Stiles do in a week, anyway?
~ It's the last week of October, and a small town baker has run into his first crush again. Fate might have other ideas. Stiles tries for romance with a little help from what Beacon Hills does best— Halloween.
little boy lost by crazyassmurdererwall (smartalli), smartalli
)1/1 I 14,862 I Teen)
If someone asked Stiles to write a parenting book, Stiles would say the best and most important rule is to love your kid. Just love the hell out of them, and make sure they know it.
The second most important rule would be don’t turn your back on a curious three year old with supernatural speed.
Stiles is currently failing at the second rule. Badly.
Nearly Everything Shines by maevewren
(12/12 I 34,796 I Explicit)
Derek is a grumpy Park Ranger, Stiles is a daredevil rock climber. Each of them wants to escape his past, but maybe together they can find a future. Expect lots of cozy autumn feels, snark, major angst, and passion.

9 people you'd like to get to know better
(lys sorry I re-liked your post a dozen times I was trying to keep it on top of my 2k liked posts otherwise I would never see it again. and then I got stuck on the very first question and I kept putting this off. but I'm doing this now! everybody clap)

three non romantic duos:
Sam & Frodo! Who did it like them! "Don't go where I can't follow!" "Frodo wouldn't have got far without Sam"! And other such hits. Crazy. To be honest there's a few non romantic duos from LOTR that I could pick but I love Sam Gamgee to death so I'm going with these two. Three hurrahs for borderline homoerotic devotion
2. Jen & Jack (Dawson's Creek). Dating myself here but I was obsessed with this teen drama as a teen. I've not really rewatched it since then because I'm afraid it will not live up to my nostalgic memories (though to be fair it started sucking so badly around S5 that I dropped it at the time and only tuned back in for the last episode lol). Anyway is there anything more beautiful than the friendship between a gay guy and his fag hag bestie? They were the cutest I love them both so much. I love how this show was so consistent in the way it portrayed their friendship. they were ride or die. I WANT WHAT THEY HAVE
3. Gaius & Merlin (lol). Okay I agonised over the last one but I couldn’t think of a better duo (sorry women 😔). I'm sure there are others I can't remember right now, but I do love them to be honest so why not them. I might have mentioned it before on my side blog but their relationship is probably my favourite in the show. I like the Chosen Family trope, okay? And I love that their relationship was important, in the show. They care so much about each other and it comes up time and time again. And their dynamic is fascinating, they're so similar in some ways and completely different in others. Immovable object vs unstoppable force. Thick as thieves, a pair of liars. As I once said—they lie so much, to other people, to themselves and to each other. And I think that's beautiful. Grey morality ❤
a ship that might surprise others: can't think of any tbh. I'm sure there are fics I've read that might surprise others, but only because I do check out a bit of everything if the premise sounds interesting enough to me, even with ships that are a bit out there. I don't really count that as shipping though.
last song: 80s medley I need to learn for my choir
last film: I don't really watch films anymore tbh 😭 I think the last one was when my aunt came to visit me last month—How Do You Know, which she chose because Paul Rudd was in it and it's probably the only reason to ever watch this film.
currently reading: Bliss & Blunder!! "A modern reworking of Arthurian legend". Or, the one where King Arthur is a tech bro. I'm enjoying it actually! (Nell if you're reading this I'll post some thoughts soon.ish. but I'm not even halfway through)
currently watching: nothing? I started Wolf Hall but I've watched less than half an episode over three lunch breaks and then I gave up for now because I'm meant to read a book and I can only focus on one (1) thing at the time apparently. but I might resume watching it at some point
currently consuming: nothing. hashtag minimalism
currently craving: local close friends so we can go out for a coffee and a chat 😔

Bound by Instinct: Teen Wolf Story
Chapter Five
Girl time?
The full moon had come and gone, but the pull it left behind still lingered in my blood. I couldn’t help it—my instincts screamed for freedom, for the wild, for the run. But there was something else now, something more. It wasn’t just the call of the wolf anymore—it was Peter.
I could feel him watching me even now, his gaze warm, but there was something else in his eyes too. Something I couldn’t put my finger on, but it made my pulse race. I didn’t know how to navigate this connection, this bond between us. It felt more than just physical. It felt deeper, rooted in something unspoken. The problem was, I wasn’t used to this kind of closeness. I’d always been alone.
“I’m not used to this,” I muttered, turning away from the window, my fingers still trembling from the lingering touch of his hands.
Peter leaned against the doorframe, his arms crossed. “You don’t have to be,” he said softly. “Not yet. Take your time.”
I nodded but didn’t meet his gaze. The truth was, I wasn’t sure I wanted to take my time. My wolf side craved the certainty of the pack, the safety of belonging somewhere again, but there was still that part of me—the part that had been forged in solitude—that wanted to remain untethered.
I clenched my fists at my sides, trying to push down the feelings rising within me. I wasn’t sure if I was ready for this... for him... or even for what it meant to be part of something again. But one thing was clear: no matter how hard I tried to resist, Peter’s presence in my life wasn’t something I could escape.
“I don’t know how to be part of a pack,” I whispered, almost to myself.
“You don’t have to know yet. We’ll figure it out together.”
His words held weight, like a promise. The silence that followed felt heavy with unspoken tension, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. It was a kind of closeness I wasn’t used to, but I was starting to crave.
Just as I was about to say something, a loud knock on the door broke the moment. I stiffened, instinctively shifting my stance. Peter’s expression darkened, his lips pressing into a thin line.
“Trouble?” I asked, my senses flaring.
“Could be,” he replied, his voice low and measured. “Stay here. I’ll handle it.”
I tilted my head and listened to the voices on the other side of the door: Lydia, Kira, and someone else. I hadn’t met her before. She seemed slightly uneasy in Peter’s presence.
“It’s safe, Little Wolf,” Peter called, “I suspect they want to take you out for a girls' day or something.”
I stepped out, brow raised in curiousity, “What is a girls’ day?”
“It’s where we take you away from the men. And we spend time together doing stuff just us girls,” Kira said.
“You’ve been around just Derek and Peter so long, it’s going to take a whole day for us to teach you how to be a human girl,” Lydia added.
Peter chuckled under his breath, leaning casually against the doorframe. “You hear that? They think they’re doing you a favor.”
I shot him a look but couldn’t help the amused smirk tugging at my lips. “Is this some kind of ritual?” I asked, genuinely curious.
“It’s not a ritual,” Lydia said, her tone matter-of-fact. “It’s survival. Trust me, Nova, if you’re going to live among humans, there are certain… skills you’ll need.”
Kira nodded enthusiastically. “Like shopping! And trying new things. Plus, you’ll get to relax, and I’m pretty sure you could use that.”
I tilted my head again, my curiosity piqued despite my initial wariness. The idea of spending time with other women was new to me. I’d always been surrounded by wolves—family, packmates, enemies—but never just… people. The thought was strange but oddly appealing.
Peter pushed off the doorframe and stepped closer, his voice low and teasing. “Go on, Little Wolf. They might actually teach you something useful. Just don’t let them talk you into anything too ridiculous.”
“Ridiculous?” Lydia’s voice was sharp, though there was a hint of playfulness in her glare. “You mean like trusting you, Peter?”
“Touché,” he smirked. “But I’m the one you’ll thank when she survives a girls’ day with her sanity intact.”
Rolling my eyes, I grabbed the jacket Peter had draped over the back of a chair and shrugged it on. “I’ll go,” I said, surprising myself. “But only because I’m curious.”
“That’s the spirit!” Kira grinned, clapping her hands together.
Peter caught my wrist as I passed him, his gaze searching mine. “Don’t let them corrupt you too much, Little Wolf.”
I smiled softly, touched by his quiet protectiveness. “I’ll be fine.”
As I followed Lydia, Kira, and their uneasy new companion toward their car, I felt a strange mix of excitement and nervousness bubbling in my chest. A girls' day. It sounded simple enough, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that this was going to be one of the biggest challenges I’d faced yet.
I studied the women before me, unsure what a "girls' day" would entail. Lydia’s confidence radiated like a challenge, while Kira’s warm smile promised patience. The third girl—a petite brunette with nervous energy—stood slightly behind them, avoiding eye contact with Peter. I didn’t blame her. His presence was intense even when he wasn’t trying.
“Are you ready?” Kira asked with an encouraging tone.
I hesitated, glancing back at Peter, who leaned casually against the doorframe. His smirk was subtle, but his eyes held a flicker of something I couldn’t place. Amusement? Approval?
“You’ll be fine, Nova,” he said, his voice reassuring but edged with something teasing. “Just don’t let Lydia talk you into anything too... extravagant.”
Lydia rolled her eyes. “Oh, please. A spa day and some shopping won’t kill her.”
“Shopping?” I asked, my brow furrowing. “You mean... acquiring more clothes?”
Lydia sighed dramatically. “Yes, Nova. Clothes. And shoes. And maybe a little makeup. You know, human girl things.”
Kira nudged her gently. “Go easy on her. It’s her first time doing anything like this.”
I glanced at Peter again, who gave a slight nod, as if granting me permission I didn’t need. Still, it was comforting. “Okay,” I said, my voice steadier than I felt. “I’ll go.”
“Perfect!” Lydia said, clapping her hands together. “This is going to be fun.”
As we stepped out into the sunlight, I cast one last glance over my shoulder. Peter stood in the doorway, watching us leave. His smirk had softened into something warmer. The bond between us tugged faintly as I followed the girls to Kira’s car, wondering what this "human girl" experience would teach me—and what Peter might think of me afterward.
—--
The mall, they told me as we drove, was a building full of different stores of different types. Kira was looking for a dress for something called a winter formal.
“You should come, right?” Kira said, “I bet you’ll have fun. You can dance and have fun meeting new people.”
“I already know enough people,” I said looking from her to Lydia, and then the new girl they’d introduced as Malia.
Lydia laughed softly, a sound that felt both amused and knowing. “You sound like Peter,” she said, glancing at me in the rearview mirror. “But trust me, there’s a big difference between knowing people and actually connecting with them.”
“I connect just fine,” I replied, crossing my arms.
“Do you?” Malia asked, tilting her head in curiosity. Her voice was quiet, but there was something sharp in her gaze. “Because I’ve seen Peter, and he doesn’t exactly scream ‘healthy social role model.’”
“Peter’s not as bad as everyone thinks,” I said instinctively, my voice firm. I didn’t care if they understood. Peter was mine in a way they couldn’t begin to comprehend.
Lydia waved a hand dismissively. “We’re not here to debate Peter’s character flaws—though I could write a novel. We’re here to help Nova experience something normal. Like a winter formal.”
“Normal?” I repeated, raising an eyebrow. “Dancing in a crowded room with loud music and people you barely know doesn’t sound normal.”
“That’s because you’ve never done it,” Kira said, her tone bright and encouraging. “Trust me, once you try, it can be really fun. Plus, you’d look amazing in a formal dress.”
I didn’t know how to respond to that. The idea of dressing up, of blending into their world, felt foreign. I’d spent so long surviving in the wild that pretending to be human felt like wearing a mask I didn’t know how to take off.
But Kira’s enthusiasm was contagious, and Lydia’s determination made it clear they weren’t going to let this go.
“We’re here,” Lydia announced as she pulled into the mall parking lot.
The building was massive, its size almost overwhelming. The sheer number of scents—food, perfumes, people—hit me the moment we walked inside. I faltered for a moment, but Malia stepped up beside me.
“Overwhelming, huh?” she asked, her voice quieter now, almost understanding.
I nodded. “A little.”
“You get used to it,” she said, and for the first time, her tone held a hint of solidarity.
As they led me toward the first store, I couldn’t help but wonder if this was what Peter had meant when he said I needed to live in the world instead of just surviving it. Maybe he was right.
The mall was a sensory overload. Bright lights, a cacophony of voices, and the sheer mix of scents—sweet, savory, synthetic—pressed down on me. It felt unnatural, like I’d stepped into a world that wasn’t meant for me.
“Relax, Nova,” Lydia said as we entered the first store, a boutique filled with racks of colorful dresses. “It’s just a mall, not a battlefield.”
Easy for her to say. She didn’t have to focus on tuning out a thousand heartbeats or fight the instinct to bare her teeth at the stranger who brushed a little too close.
Kira grabbed my hand, pulling me toward a rack of shimmering dresses. “What about this one? It’s perfect for you!” She held up a soft green gown with delicate embroidery.
I stared at it, then at her. “What would I even do in something like that?”
“Twirl around, look gorgeous, and make everyone wonder where you came from,” Lydia said with a smirk. “Trust me, Nova, people like a bit of mystery.”
Malia snorted. “Yeah, or you could just pick something comfortable. Why do humans need to dress up for every little thing, anyway?”
Kira shot her a look. “It’s not just dressing up. It’s about feeling confident and enjoying yourself. Right, Lydia?”
Lydia nodded, handing me a deep red dress. “Exactly. Besides, Peter would lose his mind if he saw you in this.”
Her words made my stomach flip, though I wasn’t sure why. Peter liked me the way I was, didn’t he? Still, I couldn’t help imagining his reaction, his sharp eyes softening for a moment as he took me in.
“I don’t know,” I muttered, brushing my fingers over the fabric. It felt delicate, like something that belonged to another life.
“You’re trying it on,” Lydia declared, pushing me toward the fitting rooms.
Inside, I slipped into the dress, the cool material clinging to my skin. When I stepped out, Kira’s face lit up, Malia gave an approving nod, and Lydia looked smug, like she’d just won a game I didn’t even know we were playing.
“See? Stunning,” Lydia said.
I glanced at myself in the mirror. The girl staring back looked... unfamiliar. Her curves were accented by the dress, her posture more upright. For the first time, I didn’t feel like a wolf trying to play human—I felt like both could exist together.
“What do you think?” Kira asked, her eyes wide with excitement.
“I think...” I hesitated, searching for the words. “I think I could get used to this.”
Malia grinned. “Welcome to the club.”
As we moved on to the next store, I found myself relaxing, even laughing at Kira’s jokes and Lydia’s dramatic fashion advice. Maybe this wasn’t my world, but it didn’t feel as foreign anymore. And maybe, just maybe, I could find a place here after all.
“Okay, after lunch, hair and nails?” Kira asked, her excitement evident as we made our way toward the food court. The sheer number of options left me wide-eyed—rows of stalls offering everything from pizza to noodles, and the air was thick with mingling aromas that made my stomach growl.
“Definitely,” Lydia chimed in, glancing over at me with her signature appraising look. “I think Nova would look good with some long layers. Tame a little of the wildness in her hair.”
“What’s wrong with my hair?” I asked, frowning as I instinctively touched the loose waves cascading over my shoulders. My hair had always been... just my hair. Something practical, nothing to fuss over.
“Nothing,” Malia said, giving me a look that bordered on reassuring and impatient. “They just want you to fit in. Just go with it. It’ll make them happy, and you’ll feel lighter too.”
“Tame the wildness,” I repeated under my breath, trying to understand what Lydia meant. Was my hair really so unruly? It had always just been an extension of me.
“Don’t overthink it,” Kira said, nudging me playfully. “Think of it as an upgrade. And besides, it’s fun! You’ll see.”
I nodded hesitantly, letting their chatter flow around me as we reached the tables. The girls debated over which stall to order from, but my attention was caught by the colorful trays passing by.
Lydia eventually placed a tray in front of me piled with a mix of food that looked both foreign and oddly tempting. “Start with this,” she said with a wink.
As I picked at the fries and took a tentative bite of the burger, I caught snippets of their conversation about hairstyles, nail colors, and something called an “ombre effect.”
“Do you think Peter will like it?” Lydia asked suddenly, her words catching me off guard.
I nearly choked on my drink. “Why does it matter what Peter thinks?”
Kira laughed, leaning in conspiratorially. “Oh, it matters. You just don’t know it yet.”
Malia smirked but didn’t comment, while Lydia gave me a knowing smile. “Trust me, Nova. A little change can go a long way.”
“Why does it matter what Peter thinks?” I repeated, doing my best to sound indifferent, though my voice betrayed me with a slight quiver.
“Oh, it matters,” Lydia said with a mischievous glint in her eyes, leaning her chin on her hand. “It always matters when it comes to Peter.”
I swallowed hard, feeling my cheeks heat. “He’s just—he’s—” I stumbled, searching for the right words. “He’s Peter. It’s not like that.”
“Sure, it’s not,” Kira teased, grinning at my flustered expression. “You only blush every time we mention his name.”
“I do not!”
“You’re doing it now,” Malia said, her smirk widening as she pointed at my face.
I huffed and crossed my arms, staring down at my tray as if it could save me from their scrutiny. “It’s just hot in here,” I muttered.
“Right,” Lydia said, drawing out the word. “And I’m sure it has nothing to do with the fact that you’re practically glowing every time you talk about him.”
“It’s not like that,” I insisted, though the words felt weak even to my own ears.
“Maybe you don’t think so,” Kira said with a playful shrug. “But Peter? He definitely sees you differently. I’ve seen the way he looks at you, Nova. It’s... intense.”
I froze, unsure how to respond. My mind raced back to the way Peter’s eyes seemed to pierce right through me, the way his voice softened when he called me Little Wolf, the way his touch lingered just a second longer than necessary.
Lydia raised an eyebrow knowingly, catching the faraway look in my eyes. “See? You’re thinking about him right now, aren’t you?”
“No,” I said quickly, shaking my head, though the redness in my cheeks betrayed me once again.
Kira giggled, nudging Malia. “What do you think, Malia? Should we give Nova a Peter-approved makeover?”
Malia smirked. “I think Nova doesn’t stand a chance against him, makeover or not.”
My jaw dropped, but before I could respond, Lydia patted my hand gently. “Relax, Nova. We’re just having fun. But, you know, maybe you should start thinking about what you want. Because something tells me Peter already knows exactly what he wants.”
Her words lingered as the conversation shifted back to hairstyles and dresses. I poked at the food on my tray, trying to drown out their teasing, but their voices echoed in my head. Did Peter see me differently? And if he did... what did I want?
I’d never given much thought to what I wanted. My life had always been about surviving—finding the next meal, the next place to rest, staying one step ahead of danger. Even now, in this place, surrounded by people who called themselves friends, I was still trying to survive. Not the wilds this time, but something just as foreign: being human.
But when Peter touched me—when his hands lingered on my skin and that electric fire flickered through me—I wanted more than survival. I wanted to be human, to feel everything in a way I hadn’t before. The vulnerability, the connection, the weight of his gaze on me—it was as terrifying as it was intoxicating.
I stared at my reflection in the glass of a nearby shop window as we walked through the mall, catching a glimpse of the girl they wanted me to be. Layers in my hair. Polished nails. A dress to wear to a winter formal. It felt like a costume, something to make me blend in. But underneath, there was still me—the wildness that Peter didn’t try to tame, that he seemed to admire.
“Nova?” Kira’s voice broke through my thoughts, and I turned to see her holding up two dresses. “Which one do you think I should get? The blue or the red?”
I blinked at her, not quite processing the question. “The... red?”
She grinned. “Good choice. Red’s bold. Eye-catching. Something Peter would probably like—oh, wait, we’re talking about me now, not you!”
The teasing laughter bubbled up again, and I rolled my eyes, but a small smile tugged at my lips.
Lydia stepped beside me, her eyes sharp and assessing as she followed my gaze to my reflection. “You know, Nova, you don’t have to fit in here to belong. But if you want to figure out what you want—whether it’s Peter or this world or something entirely different—it’s okay to take the time to find it.”
Her words settled over me, heavy and thoughtful. Maybe she was right. Maybe this wasn’t about being human or wolf, about survival or belonging. Maybe, for once, it was about figuring out what I wanted—who I wanted to be.
And as much as I hated to admit it, one thing I was sure of: Peter was part of the answer.
I let Lydia usher me into what they called a beauty salon, though the sharp, chemical smell made me wrinkle my nose. It was like rancid roadkill mixed with something bitter and metallic. I wasn’t sure how anything that smelled this awful could make someone beautiful.
But when they started cutting my hair, I began to understand what Malia meant. The weight that had clung to me—both physical and emotional—seemed to lift with every snip of the scissors. By the time they finished, my head felt lighter, freer. I caught my reflection in the mirror. The layers softened the wildness in my hair, but it was still me.
As we walked toward the nail station, I turned to Malia, Lydia, and Kira, my brow furrowed as I tried to make sense of their teasing from earlier.
“All of this,” I said, gesturing to my hair, the brightly lit salon, the way they kept glancing at each other with sly smiles, “is this some kind of... mating ritual humans do?”
Malia snorted, barely able to keep her laughter in. Lydia, on the other hand, seemed to relish the question, her perfectly arched brows rising as she exchanged a glance with Kira.
“Well, not exactly,” Lydia said with a mischievous grin. “But looking your best does help. Humans like things to feel... intentional. Mating isn’t just about instinct for us. There’s courtship, chemistry, flirting. It’s a whole process.”
Kira leaned closer, her voice soft but excited. “It’s about making a connection, you know? Getting to know someone, spending time together. Building trust.”
I frowned, my mind circling back to Peter. His touch, his gaze, the way he seemed to know exactly what I needed without me having to say it. “But what happens when you already feel connected? When you already... know?”
Malia leaned back in her chair, arms crossed. “Then you skip all the fuss and just go for it,” she said with a shrug. “Honestly, humans overcomplicate everything. If you want him, take him.”
“Malia!” Kira looked scandalized, but Lydia only laughed.
“She’s not wrong,” Lydia said, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “But there’s something to be said for letting things unfold naturally. It’s not a race, Nova. Sometimes the anticipation makes it all the sweeter.”
I nodded slowly, my thoughts tangled in their words. Humans might overcomplicate things, but there was a certain charm in the way they approached connection and intimacy.
Still, Malia’s blunt advice lingered. If I wanted something—or someone—wasn’t it better to go for it than to hold back?
—--
My arms were loaded with bags as I stepped inside Derek’s loft, the door clicking shut behind me. The bags were heavy with all the new clothes and accessories the girls had insisted on. Derek stepped up, offering to help me carry them to the spare room. The bed was neatly made, and though it looked inviting, I’d been spending most nights curled up on the floor near the fire. It was just one more human thing I needed to figure out—where exactly I fit into this world.
He set the bags down and glanced at me. “You look nice,” he said, his gaze lingering for a moment. “Like you, but... enhanced, if that makes sense.”
I gave him a small smile. “Thank you.” There was a warmth in his tone that felt genuine. It was something I hadn’t expected, and yet it comforted me in a way I couldn’t fully explain.
I glanced at him, then back down at the pile of bags. “What day is Saturday?”
“The day after tomorrow,” he replied, looking confused. “Why do you ask?”
I set the last of the bags down on the bed and took a breath. “Lydia said I should tell you and Peter to chaperone the formal on Saturday so I can go.”
Derek raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised. “Chaperone?”
“Yeah, apparently you and Peter are supposed to keep an eye on things, make sure nothing gets out of hand,” I said, unsure if I was explaining it right. The concept of a ‘formal’ was still a bit foreign to me. “It’s kind of like... a party, but fancier.”
He chuckled softly, shaking his head. “I didn’t think anyone would want us around for that. But if Lydia insists...”
I wasn’t sure if he was annoyed by the idea or simply resigned to it. Either way, I could feel my heart rate quicken at the thought of attending the event. It would be the first time I’d be in a room full of people I didn’t know well. The idea of fitting in, of being seen as something other than the outcast, felt strange but also exciting.
“You sure you want to go?” Derek asked, his expression softening. “It’s not exactly a casual affair.”
“I think I need to try,” I said, feeling a surge of determination. “I’ve spent enough time just surviving, Derek. I want to live, even if that means doing things I’ve never done before.”
He studied me for a long moment, his gaze intense and unreadable, before finally nodding. “Alright. We’ll do it. But just so you know, I can’t promise I’ll make it fun.”
I couldn’t help but smile at his dry humor. “That’s all I need from you,” I replied.
My ears perked up as I heard the door open and close in the other room. Peter.
“Did you survive girls' day, Little Wolf?” he called out, his voice smooth, teasing.
I stepped out of the room, standing in the doorway and glancing over at him. I had to admit, there was a part of me that wondered what he thought about how I looked. What if I was still too... wild for him?
“I think so,” I replied, shrugging lightly, trying to sound casual even though my heart was picking up its pace.
Peter’s gaze shifted to me the moment I spoke, his eyes scanning me from head to toe. It wasn’t the first time he’d looked at me like that, but this time, there was something sharper in his focus, something a little more intense.
“Not bad,” he said, his lips curling into a knowing smirk. His eyes lingered on mine, and for a brief moment, I couldn’t look away.
I wasn’t sure if it was the way he said it or the way he looked at me, but my body reacted—an almost electric heat spreading across my skin. There was something undeniably powerful in the way he saw me.
“What do you think?” I asked, voice a little quieter than I meant it to be, but I couldn’t help it. I was aware now. Of him. Of me. Of what we were becoming.
He stepped closer, his gaze never leaving mine. “I think you’re exactly what I wanted you to be,” he murmured, his voice low and rich, the kind of tone that made my heart race even faster.
I knew if he listened closely, he could hear it—my racing heart, the quickened rhythm of my breaths. He’d know exactly how he made me feel. Maybe he didn’t even need his wolf senses to figure it out. It was written all over me, plain as day.
Trying to distract myself from the weight of his gaze, I reached into my pocket and pulled out the plastic card Lydia had handed me earlier. I held it out to him. “Lydia said she gave it a workout. Not sure what that means.”
Peter took the card from me, his fingers brushing mine for the briefest moment. His smirk deepened as he examined it. “Of course she did.”
He looked me over again, slower this time, like he was committing every detail to memory. “But,” he said, his voice softening just a fraction, “you’re definitely worth it.”
Warmth spread through me, a fire igniting under my skin that had nothing to do with the loft’s crackling hearth. I didn’t know what to say, didn’t know how to respond to something that felt so genuine and raw. Instead, I stood there, holding his gaze, feeling more seen than I ever had before.
“Yeah,” Derek’s voice sliced through the tension like a blade, pulling me back to reality. He stepped into the room, his expression unreadable as usual. “Lydia wants us to chaperone the dance and take her. What do you think?”
Peter’s smirk returned instantly, sharp and teasing. “Do you want to be the belle of the ball, Little Wolf?” His tone was light, but his eyes gleamed with amusement. “It’s a different kind of wild—mingling with hormonal teenagers.”
I tilted my head, narrowing my eyes at him. “Is it dangerous?”
Derek snorted, crossing his arms. “Only if you let them drag you into their drama. Which they will try.”
“Dances aren’t about danger,” Peter countered smoothly. “They’re about spectacle. Lights, music, and hormones. But who knows—maybe our Little Wolf will enjoy being the center of attention for once.”
I wasn’t sure how to respond. The thought of being surrounded by humans—young, loud, emotional humans—felt foreign and overwhelming. But the idea of experiencing something so uniquely human also intrigued me. And if Peter and Derek would be there… maybe it wouldn’t be so bad.
“I’ll go,” I said finally, glancing at Peter. “But only if you promise not to call me Little Wolf in front of everyone.”
Peter laughed softly, the sound warm and low. “No promises.”

Cheers to the Unknown Pt. 7.5
This is just an incorrect quotes/random goofy stuff I've had stuck in my head for this AU and I just really want to share these. Most aren't in line with the actual plot of the AU, just like silly things to imagine within the AU. If that makes sense...
Enjoy!

Werewolf!Nik hugging a young Siren!Gaz with tears in his eyes: He is vulnerable, precious, and mine now. I am his pod now. Changeling!Price, watching Gaz kick and growl with a feral smile: Uh huh, vulnerable and precious. (Jokes on you, Price, you're the one to sign the adoption papers)
*After Price meets Ghost for the first time* Laswell: Price, let me see what you have! Price: A dude! Laswell: NO!
*After Price recruits Soap* Ghost: Price, what you got there? Price: A nymph! :D Laswell: Where the fuck did you get one of those?? *Price introducing Gaz to the full team* *He doesn't want to be introduced as Price's son* Price: This is Gaz, my s- Siren! Our siren! *panicked laugh* Ghost and Soap: Uh, okay? *Months later* Price: Guys, when I said "our" siren it was because I almost said the wrong thing. This is not what I meant! *Gaz is trapped between Ghost and Soap for cuddles* Ghost: Well it's too late now. Soap: Aye, he's ours. Nik, sniffling: Our pup is all grown up. Price, confused: Nik! Nik: What? He has pod of his own now! *starts crying* All grown up!
Laswell: Ghost, what do we do when we feel sad? Ghost, monotone like he's reciting something: Use healthy coping strategies to address the issues and solve accordingly. Laswell: Could use some enthusiasm but I'll take it! Soap, what do we do when we feel sad? Soap: Blow shit up :D Laswell: Absolutely not. Gaz? Gaz: Hide in the water where no one can see you cry. Laswell: Gaz, are you okay? Gaz, giving a thumbs-up: Yeah, just a Siren experiencing an emotion and scared to cry cause of trauma. Laswell: *heavy sigh* Okay, we'll move on for now. Price? Price: Turn into someone else so they never see you cry. Laswell: I can't tell if you're being serious or not. Nik: Oh, he is very serious. I have reputation on his base as being emotional. I have never once cried while visiting. Laswell: *stunned silence* Price: He has yet to tell me to stop, so I don't see what the problem is. I'm expressing my emotions in healthy ways, at least in terms of how I experience the emotion. It's just in a way that isn't damaging to my reputation as Captain. Laswell: I hate all of you.
Soap, a creature that doesn't need sleep: Do you think the wind is ever trying to tell us something and we don't know how to hear it anymore? Gaz, eyes glowing in the dark sitting up slowly: I just want you to stop saying odd shit
*Nik, Alejandro, and Rudy just in a big wolf pile together* Ghost: Wolves are so fucking weird. Alejandro: You're just jealous. Rudy: It's okay to admit you crave physical affection, Ghost. Ghost: Shut the fuck up, Parra. Gaz, from underneath the pile: Don't listen to him, guys! He gets all the affection he wants! Ghost, panicked: Gaz?! *Goes to 'save' Gaz but gets dragged into the pack pile* *Price and Soap witnessed the whole thing* Soap: I almost forgot Sirens are also pack creatures. Price: Yeah... Anyways. *walks over and joins as well* Soap: Oh what the hell? *also joins*
Gaz: Having a changeling for a father is honestly awful. Ghost: Elaborate. Gaz: Well, it's not exactly fun when you're trying to be a rebellious teenager and your dad can follow you when you sneak out and not have you know the entire time. Ghost: Price did that? Gaz: Yup. Wanna know the worst part? I couldn't even be a proper rebellious teen. Soap: Oh no, Gaz, what did you do? Gaz: I snuck out so I could wait in line for the release of Halo 4. He started laughing, and of course I couldn't tell it was him, so I thought some junkie was losing his shit just across the street from me, and I may have started to freak out a little. I wasn't exactly tough at 13, so I was scared, okay? Ghost: And then what happened? Gaz: I honestly think he forgot I couldn't recognize him cause he wasn't close enough for me to get a good scent. And so, he approached me. I screamed. The people nearby stepped up to help some poor kid being harassed by a 'stranger'. We ended up at the police station cause of the whole incident. Soap: Did-did you get the game? Gaz: Yeah, actually. Nik got it for me cause he felt bad about the incident. Something about how Price only followed cause he was worried and not because he didn't trust me. Price, though? He couldn't look me in the eye for a week. Price, appearing: I couldn't look you in the eye because I didn't know whether I wanted to laugh or cry cause of the whole thing. Gaz: You should have laughed, Nik found it hilarious. Soap: Aye, but still. You had snuck out and caused a scene. Gaz: It's not my fault he fucked up! I'm just disappointed he forgot he was masked! Price: Imagine my disappointment when I realized I was raising a nerd and not a rebel. I wanted you to get out and do stupid shit! But no! You were waiting in line for a fucking video game! *Soap and Ghost losing it* Gaz: That shit hurt. Price: It did 13 years ago, too.
*The truck has broken down during an assignment* Soap, leaning over the hood: Move bitch. *truck immediately starts running* Ghost: *sobs in human*
Soap: Gaz, am I immune to your voice? I feel like I've never been affected by it. Gaz: I don't know. We should test it. Ghost, go somewhere else. Ghost, half-asleep: Wha-? Gaz: Go away, I'm gonna try to seduce Soap. Ghost: Why do I have to leave? Gaz: Cause I'm seducing him, not you! Ghost, sniffles: But- Gaz: No. You're too vulnerable to my voice. We're experimenting. Soap: Yeah! Science! Ghost: You know what? Knock yourselves out. Fuckin' weirdos. *30 minutes later Gaz hunts Ghost down for comfort cause it turns out, Soap is indeed immune to a Siren's voice*
Young Siren!Gaz: Stop calling me a pup! I'm not a pup anymore! Werewolf!Nik: In wolf terms, you are still considered a pup. Gaz: In Siren terms, I'm not a pup, so there! Price: What's the determining factor? Gaz, with voice cracks: I can control my Voice! Nik, struggling not to laugh: Can you, pup? *Price holding back a screeching Gaz as Nik runs*
Young!Gaz: Dad! Wake up! Price: *startles awake* Kyle, what- *sees nothing but Gaz's reflective eyes* HOLY SHI- Gaz: WHAT?! *Nik falls out of bed from being startled* Price: Don't fucking scare me like that! 20 questions for fic writers
Thank you @mustlovesteve for the tag!! 💕🥹
1. How many works do you have an AO3? 50!
2. What's your total AO3 word count? 310,900
3. What fandoms do you write for? Primarily Stranger Things/Steddie at the moment, but I dabble still with bnha, mxtx, naruto, and other fandoms (just unpublished).
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
The Secret Deku Box - bnha/bkdk I’ll share this with you, so leave it behind - bnha/bkdk a kiss, a kiss, for you and for me - kny/inotan Worth It - bnha/bkdk if you can't find the morning light, i'm here tonight - bnha/bkdk
5. Do you respond to comments? I always TRY to but I get really shy or self conscious or awkward, so sometimes it takes me an age to build up the nerve and then I feel weird about how long it's been LOL but I do read through my comments regularly, especially when I feel like giving up on a WIP.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I'm a happy-endings-always kind of writer! So at MOST, my fics end with an ambiguous ending I was not born to drown (i gave baku cancer and don't tell you one way or the other that he recovers or dies, except in my author's note. i was helping to take care of someone with cancer at the time, this fic made me SOB to write).
My most recent fic is probably it though, The Waking Wait my attempt at horror, but I still wouldn't say it's a devastating ending imo. Probably the angstiest though!
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Like said above, MOST of my fics are happy endings, if not just pure fluff. I will say my favorite happy ending was the night is long which was my answer to the end of The Untamed. I reread it sometimes and still get super giddy about it.
8. Do you get hate on fics? I wrote/write bkdk. What do you think? LOL Nothing recently at all though, and never anything like my voltron days
9. Do you write smut? Yes! I love writing romance, and I really enjoy writing those intimate moments. I think people look at smut and say "that's just porn." But, it's also another way to show love between characters and most o the time, that's what I'm writing it for.
Though other times, ofc, it is just porn LMAO
10. Do you write crossovers? I used to dabble in a spn/teen wolf crossover, and more recently I think about a stranger things/spn crossover, but I never actually write them seriously LOL
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? I am unaware if I have!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes! I have lost the links to them though! I'm devastated!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? I've started a few co-written fics before, but they never go anywhere for one reason or another. I also don't think I'm a good co-writing partner, so I never really chase opportunities to.
14. What's your all time favorite ship? UHH I have many ships that live with me forever (destiel, bkdk, steddie, haulian) and I'll regularly pop through to read and reread fics even if I'm not very active in the fandom. I have some that I'll have a craving for randomly after years not thinking about them but are still integral to my personality (hannigram, stucky, kakairu, wangxian, bagginshield). I'm sure there's some I've forgotten to list here LOL
But could I pick an ALL TIME favorite?? Could I, if I could only pick ONE ship that I'm only allowed to read/write for the rest of my life and nothing else EVER AGAIN, could I make a choice????? Probably not. I could be happy stuck with any of the above LOL
(It also might be hualian tho LMAO)
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Look, I am always aiming to finish all of my WIPs, even if they haven't updated in five years now (YES, even 100 Ways to Say). I think I should write fics to completion, and not publish them—but I usually post stuff thinking "No one will read this" and then I'm super wrong LMAO
However, Mitsukeru actually used to be a WIP that I only changed to complete in the past year or so. I hope no one has actually been holding on to that updating since 2017, but I think Hori did a better job than me so I'll concede my alternate ending— WAIT I went to reread it, actually it kinda slaps. STILL it may never get finished but who knows hahahahahah
16. What are your writing strengths? I think, and I've been told, that I'm very good at characterization which pleases me to no end. I feel pretty confident across a wide array of genres.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? I don't have staying power, and I don't have any strength in longer, intricate plots. What I really want to write is like slice-of-life stuff, but most people don't read that. It's also why I haven't attempted to break out of fanfic into actual novel writing.
I also think I've lost a lot of coherency over the past two years. Sometimes I'll write something, publish, and them come back to read it months later and be like "that actually would make zero sense if you didn't live in my head." It's something I'm really struggling to correct, especially with there will be sad songs IM TIRED AND NOTHING MAKE SENSE ANYMORE
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I think it takes effort to do it RIGHT. I do it a lot in my writing for anime fandoms, but 1) I've had two years of Japanese classes, 2) my audience GENERALLY knows the handful of words I'm willing to toss in, and 3) Japanese honorifics really add something to dialogue that doesn't have an English counterpart.
Now, I've done the same in danmei fandoms as well, and I'm unsure how successful I am there! I always try to approach it respectfully, and thankfully readers are generally happy to help me adjust (thank you!). A lot of that vocab is pretty common knowledge for that audience as well.
NOW, what I don't enjoy is whole sections of dialogue in another language that I have to go translate in google or scroll down and lose my place, regardless of the writer's fluency. This is ESPECIALLY annoying on mobile LOL
To each their own ALWAYS, but to me, it only makes sense if it's narratively important to the plot (like keeping something secret from the audience and the POV character) or if you're JRR Tolkien (or Tolkien fanfic writers LOL)
19. First fandom you wrote for? GOD okay the first fic I can genuinely remember writing was for Beyblade. Like, the FIRST beyblade anime back in 2001. I was 10.
I do wonder if I wrote anything for digimon though. Elementary school me was in a chokehold. I used to draw a digimon on each of my class folders, it's a core memory of mine and also how I made my first friend LOL
20. Favorite fics you've written? I'm immensely proud of good winter, i'll be with you even though I at the moment have no idea how to finish it correctly. I've rewritten the epilogue three times now IM TIRED and deeply unsatisfied each time. BUT I'm super proud of the plot line hahaha
Tagging: I am too shy and awkward to tag people, so if you come across this and wish that you had been tagged, CONSIDER YOURSELF TAGGED and make sure you link me so I can see your answers! uwu

hi there follow creatives!!
We can discuss details in dms such as who id be playing as well as triggers and such. So, please, either like this or add me on discord: toxicdeliquency

Thanks for the tag @enquiringangel ^^
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
45!
2. What’s your total word count?
119,447
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I mainly write for Naruto these days.
Borderlands used to be my main playground for several years (and I still have plenty of unfinished fics for that fandom). I wrote a bit for Undertale, but not anymore (ran out of ideas). In my WIPs there are a few fics for Gloomverse (a webtoon), Gravity Falls and The Owl House.
4. Top 5 fics by kudos.
"Follow My Lead" (272 kudos)
"round and round in circles we go" (251 kudos)
"Playing in Puddles" (175 kudos)
"Was it worth the wait?" (146 kudos)
"Remember me, you ******" (137 kudos)
(lol the Naruto fics have completely conquered my top 5)
5. Do you respond to comments?
In most cases, yes. I love chatting with people in the comments. xD I try to leave a brief thank you or an emoji otherwise.
(Sometimes, life gets the better of me though Currently I have a backlog of ~30 comments in my inbox… Every now and then I answer one)
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Hm…I'd name one or two of my wips that have angsty endings planned for them, but since they're not finished I suppose they don't count…
From my posted fics, I'd say The Hope of Morning. It ended on a pretty high strung note.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Hmmmmmmmmmm…
Either "Hand in Hand", "Matching Colours" or "round and round in circles we go"? I have a lot of one shots that end on a fluffy note, but I haven't finished one where I'm going "yes, this is the fuzziest and loveliest of all 💕"
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Nope. At least I don't remember.
9. Do you write smut?
Yes, but I rarely make it to posting. Smut is kinda hard and I get easily distracted by building up the premise that leads to it.
10. Do you write crossovers?
Sure, but rarely. Mostly when I have a good idea. (There's a Borderlands x Teen Wolf crossover I want to finish and post one day…)
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not as far as I know. 🥲 I hope not.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Again, not as far as I know.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! There's been a few collabs with my close writer friends 😊❤️ (most of them never made it to being published, but we had so much fun. But I haven't done any recently)
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
I don't think I can just name "one". My mind goes blank trying to think of one I like the most.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?
NONE, I WILL FINISH ALL OF THEM, YOU HEAR ME. >:D If I actually want to finish a WIP, there's no doubt in my mind that one day I will, no matter how long that takes.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Descriptions, especially of emotions I'd say. Character reflections. And coming up with new ideas! I feel like I'm pretty good at coming up with interesting scenarios.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Dialogue, my beloathed. And smut. I also have a problem of starting a lot of new projects and not finishing/taking long to finish the old ones.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?
Depends on the specific story, how it's used and what the author wants to achieve with it. Like in movies, it can be super fun if you know the language.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Officially that would be Undertale. (I wrote only two fics for it, and the first is deleted from the web because it made me cringe after a while.) Unofficially, I've been writing fix-it stories for Naruto when I was a teen…but mostly in my head.
20. Favourite fanfic you’ve ever written?
"The Craving of Your Heart" is still occupying the top spot in my heart currently, closely followed by "Follow My Lead".
And I tag @littlemiss44 @anannua and @hashiramashonkers
