Random rambling time: I literally just realized that a whopping 5/9 of the Rookie 9 (Ino, Choji, Shikamaru, Hinata, and Shino) are future clan heads, which is kinda crazy. And even Sasuke and Kiba, who aren’t first in line to be clan heads, are still kids of clan heads (I mean I heard that Kiba’s mom is never confirmed to be a clan head but I feel like it’s widely accepted that she is)??? So out of the 7 clan kids in the Rookie 9, ALL of them are kids of the clan heads, not just random clanspeople

And Sakura (and technically Naruto) being the only non-clan kids is kinda crazy as well

Obito is not terribly hard to understand, Sakura thinks, which is probably one of her top five worst realizations.

Maybe top three. She isn’t sure yet.

“I mean, no offense,” she adds to the man in question, who has joined her for first watch and is currently attempting to carve a better duck than she can. Neither of their ducks look very good. Or recognizable. “It’s just that you murdered Naruto’s parents and then tried to murder us. Repeatedly.”

He inclines his head in acknowledgment. “Casting a genjutsu with the moon sounded really cool when I was twelve,” he says. It’s a joke, probably, but then he goes on to say, “And exponentially easier than actually trying to get what I want,” and Sakura has the sinking feeling that he is being entirely genuine.

She can’t even blame him. That’s exactly the kind of reasoning that she would have had as a twelve-year-old.

“Top three worst realizations,” she says glumly. “For sure.”
