Okay first of all careful with the "well educated and well spoken" part. I'm 16 and trying my very best not to lose my mind. After four years in this fandom, I'm very well aware of how words can become violently misconstrued and everything is taken as the end of the world. I get it, parsing through information like this is difficult and trying to figure out where you stand is even harder- but don't take my words as final. Don't take anyone's. Consider your own thoughts and feelings against the evidence we all have and make up your own mind. That's part of the reason we're in this mess. That being said:

I think the largest factor here is that George and Caiti lived two very different experiences that night. I don't believe that George was attempting to get with her in any way- I don't think that any of the girls were invited to Dream's hotel room for any sexual reasons. I think from the first night they hung out Caiti was uncomfortable with the age gap and thought of George as weird, potentially flirty, and maybe untrustworthy. Neither Caiti or her friends liked Dream to begin with.

When they decided to go up to Dream's hotel room that night, Dream did not know how old Caiti was. Caiti says that George did. I don't know what their instagram dms were. However they interacted, they were all drunk and Caiti perceived George's actions to be sexual.

I think, based on how we know George to act when he's drunk (Sapnap's stories, Dream's stories, and the drunk banter episode) that he likely was touchy with whoever was around them that night. That doesn't invalidate what Caiti felt. She hasn't been around George much prior to this, certainly not while drunk, and she already felt like he was flirting with her. Whatever touching happened wasn't called out or even noticed by anyone in the room. Nobody remembers it happening except Caiti (and potentially George, but it's unlikely)

When she went to leave, she was already uncomfortable and then he followed her to the elevator. Benefit of the doubt, he was probably just going to walk her back to her hotel room, but she was very drunk and very uncomfortable, which he failed to recognize. The minute she told him no, he backed off and left her alone.

He likely did not interpret any of her signals that night, as she said they were all non-verbal until the elevator. He probably doesn't even remember it. We know that when George is drunk, he'll often sit on the laps of his friends (Sapnap) or hang on them (Karl) or even kiss them (Dream) but that's not okay to do with strangers.

This isn't a story about an abuse of power or age, but likely recognizing that some people just can't handle getting drunk. George is not good at reading people when he's sober, and can't be trusted not to trample on people's boundaries when he's drunk. Alcohol is not for everyone.

This is likely, hopefully, a one-off event. I believe that George's tweet yesterday was reactionary, as our first time seeing the allegations was likely also his first time hearing them. I doubt that he remembers the details of the night.

None of this is to abstract his fault. If Caiti was uncomfortable with any of his actions, he should have been able to recognize that and step away. The fact that he couldn't proves that he was too drunk and needs to reflect on his own problems with alcohol.

That being said, if what I think happened and what actually happened are the story that George explains when and if he goes live, and on the condition that Caiti believes him and accepts his apology, I will continue to support George.

I think there is a lot of growth that needs to happen in his own life. I think he's emotionally stunted, I think he uses alcohol in an unhealthy way, and I think he needs to come to terms with the fact that he hurt someone even if it was unintentional.

Lying will not get him out of this.

With all that said, I will continue to support dream and sapnap regardless of their reaction to this. Sapnap wasn't there. He has no part in this other than being George's friend. Dream didn't notice it when it happened and was never aware of any of it. He's been caught up unfairly in the allegations and I don't feel it's right to drop him over this, at least personally.

I don't think Dream or Sapnap will stop being friends with George. I think dream and George are more than friends and have completely built their lives around each other. I think sapnap's content is already mostly stand alone but dream has been his best friend for over a decade and George is such an integral part of that. I think it is naive to think George will be kicked out, and that doesn't mean that either of them are supporting a bad person, it just means they're being good friends.

Sometimes you have to be a good friend because somebody needs it. I don't know when George will go live and I don't know what he'll say, but I don't regret my time here regardless of what it is.

summary: Dina drags Ellie to a camp where they can work at for three weeks, the money is good and they get a little vecation from their college life. It’s annoying but it gets more interesting when Ellie gets to know the other girl that is joining as a camp leader.

notes: i’m really excited for this series, it’s gonna be inspired by the 80s slasher summer camp vibe! They’re not in the 80s anymore but their town is so stubborn, that they still got all the old equipments so it kind of feels like it anyways. I’m also going to switch from different perspectives to get a better view from everyone’s thoughts when things get spicy :P

„Ugh“ Ellie grunted shoving her stuff in her backpack that was already falling apart and had some holes here and there. It didn’t bother her as long as she didn’t loose anything of her supplies.

„If the money isn’t worth it i’m going.“ Dina, laying on her bed watching her- „Of course Ells as if you’re not living off of instant noodles and my stuff the last few weeks“ she grinned and rolled onto her stomach.

„The kids are gonna be annoying but remember how we were that age?“ she let out a quite laugh. „Were the ones making the rules now, so how bad can it be?“

„Oh fuck you“ Ellie sighed and finally got her backpack to zip up. „Kids that age are little shitheads“ she stood up and let herself fall on the bed next to Dina. „Well yeah, but at least they’re not that bad, I mean they wont be older than 16 y‘know?“

„Well with 16 I started selling“ Ellie grinned. „But if I catch one of them doing anything like that imma beat their ass“ she looked at her phone to check the time. „Well, or their mom will“

Dina flipped a finger against Ellies forehead „Ouch“- „You’re the one that has to behave“ Dina glanced a provocative smile at her. „No girls your age except for me and Abby, and a bunch of kids- I think you can handle that“

„I don’t like that Abby and Owen are the ones giving the orders to us, she‘s okay but Owen is annoying as fuck“ Dina nodded to agree with her. Abby and Owen were a bit older then them, and already did the camp counseling the year before.

„Well anyways we gotta go“ Dina pushed Ellie of the bed otherwise to leave would’ve took forever. They got outside and walked to Ellies Pick-Up truck. The others would drive in a school bus Owen got the permission to drive with. They would all meet at the camp.

This year it was so full, Owen and Abby decided to let all the kids sleep in the little cabins and the leaders would have to sleep outside. Because of Ellie having the Pick-Up they already loaded all their tents on it, wondering why there were two from Abby and Owen, thinking they’d sleep together anyways.

The Trip was nice though, Ellie liked driving and Dina liked being Ellies Dj even though Ellie didn’t approve to all the songs Dina was blasting on full volume.

After arriving Ellie looked unmotivated again. „First and last day are always the most stressful ones, so don’t give up today okay Ells?“ Closing the car door Dina tried to get Ellies confirmation. „Yeah sure“ she muffled and helped Dina with the tents and their backpacks.

Already settled in, they could hear the voices of kids and teens laughing in their little cabins. Searching for Abby and Owen they ran into you.

You just had moved to the place you were now also going to college to. Only about three months ago, but you didn’t recognize the two women approaching you. They don’t look 16 anymore that’s for sure, so they must be from college too, also taking the opportunity to get that money.

Of course you needed that money desperately, normal for a college student. Also, extra money didn’t hurt, and you needed to get away from.. well actually you wanted to get away from Abby, but you already applied to the job before knowing it was organized by Abby- and Owen, her boyfriend.. At least the two other girls are joining too, so you’re not alone with them.

„Hey hey“ Owen stepped out of one of the cabins, Abby on his hand, she looked a bit annoyed but smiled when she saw the small group of yours. „Finally, all the kids are already unpacking their stuff and ready for some food“ she smiled and they stepped closer to greet everyone. „So for the basics: we have plans hung out in the kitchen on wich we are divded into wash off and cooking shifts.“ Abby walked to one of the cabins, the only one that was a bit bigger, everyone followed.

Stepping in she pointed to a list that was hung up against a board. „I think it’s okay that we do the dishes, the kids are here to relax. Owen and I are going to do most of the activities with them, but most of the kids are already to old for that and just want to be outside on the lake or on the fields. You guys just watch out that no ones going missing and when we need you, you’ll help us out.“

Her voice was calm and you couldn’t avoid feeling a big clump in your throat.

Just weeks ago she ended it with you, or kind of did. You apparently just were a little flink she had while being broken up with Owen. It still hurted though. She was the first woman you slept with, but even more- she was the one that gave you the security you were a lesbian. At the beginning she was there for you while being the new student, helping you out a lot with how everything worked you both couldn’t deny the tension that got in between you from the first day you’d met. At that point you didn’t knew about the breakup with Owen, you were fully convinced she was a lesbian anyways. You asked her out on sweet little coffee dates and she took you to her basketball practice ones in a while. It felt like you two had known each other for much longer than just a few months. You started to crush on her besides being sexually attracted to her. But it stayed at being fuck buddies, till you mentioned your feelings and she seemed to be on the same side. All fine, till one night- that stupid fucking frat party. You were waiting for her all night, after not showing up you asked around if anybody saw her. Some did, but they also lost sight of her. He’s always late!“ she rolled her eyes. „Jesse‘s my Ex“ she turned around to tell you without being asked, but you were to shy to ask anyways, so you appreciated her leading the conversation. „So now we’re two“ you tried to smile. „Wait what? She was really quite since they arrived but it was kind of.. pleasant.

„You wanna sleep with me?“ She said, and you shrugged. „Sure“ giving her a smile that she gave you back. Dina raised a brow, knowing Ellie, she took every opportunity to get girls actually in bed with her. Poor you Dina thought. But Dina was also more than fine with sharing a tent with Jesse. Yes, they broke up, but they still were like besties.

Following Ellie you climbed into your tent, finding yourself unexpectedly really close to her. Ellie noticed the rosy color on your cheeks. „So.. on wich side do you want to sleep?“ you asked, a bit uncomfortable. Before saying anything Ellie just stretched herself and layed down on her side. „is that fine?“ she reassured and you nodded. While humming you started to unpack your stuff. Ellie watched you while rolling herself another one up. You didn’t mind, and didn’t tell her to stop when she lightened it in your little tent, you just opened the entrance and layed down next to her.

„So how come I’ve never seen you at college?“ She looked to the side and held the joint infront of you, as you took it you thought about how you could answer it as short as possible.

„I just came here a few months ago, wasn’t really with anybody that’s probably why“ you shrugged „I like to be on my own“ you exhaled and gave it back to her. She grinned. „Well that’s definitely understandable, but what about frat parties? They can be fun too, never been to one?“ she layed her head on her arm that was behind her and watched the smoke fill the air.

„Well I was“ you caughed, you weren’t used to smoking weed, and the tent was full of smoke. Ellie laughed and opened the outer layer of the tent a bit wider. „Let’s go“ she tilted her head to the exit, noticing you’re not taking the full air that well and you climbed out of it. It already got dark and you decided to collect some wood for the campfire. You didn’t notice how a constant smile was on your lips, and how the stiffness from before started to loosen up. But Ellie noticed and enjoyed your quite being.

After being done collecting some sticks and branches, Ellie lit up the campfire and Jesse and Dina gathered the kids around it. Abby and Owen brought the food and the atmosphere started to get more calm and chatty. You enjoyed it more than you thought and then and there your eyes met with Ellies.

Gojo Satoru has played the games before, being the sole survivor. he didn't have much energy after,,, everything. happened. he couldn't bear to see megumi (reminded him too much of toji) but met Yuuta while smoking outside a convenience store. he's looking for a girl - rika - and gojo remembers her. she died in the games.... he takes yuuta up as a mentee and promises to pay him if he works for gojo to help stop the games. yuuta inspires him to go in there again, where he meets everyone and shit

Okkotsu Yuuta is 16-17 years old. he met Rika when he was young and they promised to marry each other back then (he still has the ring, is still very in love). he gets bullied a lot at school but Rika is strong, always comes in to protect him and patch him up and shit. She's poor, though, and her family is barely scraping by. he's distant with his own family bc of his own issues, so he can't really help her (he's tried before). Maki left the family to start her own business or something........ her family was aristocratic (screw you moriarty the patriot making me think this way) or smth........ she needs money to start up her business, cover expenses, advertise, etc.?? maybe??? Mai is mad at her for leaving - Maki was very smart and strong and perfect to inherit the family business but she had little interest in it. Mai wants to but she's not as naturally skilled,,,,

Ive always like the idea of a khajit being brought into twst, bc i started skyrim when i was 16, so i imagined my cat girl to be my age so by the time i finished the game i was 20 and fully dragonborn'd up so liek.. what if a 20 yr khajit (or any race from skyrim) gets isekaid to twst? That is honestly a great question, as someone who also had a Khajit cuz 10 year old me was like ooh kitty (I named her Zara). Granted I haven’t played in so long, but I’ll try to bring up what I remember. Watched so many modded play throughs.

Granted I apologize this might not be exactly what you were hoping for in this ask. I just hope this at least makes sense as I go through the main aspects. My brain first went into this like “How would it be?”.

I’ll use neutral ways to refer to our lovely kitty Dovakin.

Magic, shouts and the Dovakin aspects are general.

I feel like everyone would be so confused as to what magic they have. Plenty of people have already wrote up headcanons on magical girls or other stuff from other worlds but I haven’t seen this yet.

Khajit specifically, since beastmen are not that fur or feather covered they would obviously look at one quite curiously. There’s quite a few variants of them across games/regions. Depending on how certain people feel they could be territorial. Khajit are usually able to adapt to any region they go to, though TWST is set much farther in time so depending on how many ruins they’ve experienced and they might understand a bit of it. Phones would still be very confusing and social media.

I still imagine most close to them would have intrusive thoughts about how the fur feels. They could accidentally scratch someone if they’re taken by surprise. Everyone would need to keep a roller nearby since the fur can get everywhere.

Them asking where the nearest tavern is for some ale or wine would be great. Leona might help if they’re close enough to see who can last the longest drinking.

The magic in Skyrim is based on purely mana and there’s no waste like blot. Shouts is a whole different story too. Though there is plenty of similar basic spells that would be “normal”, but making a sword out of thin air from mana? Is that your unique magic? No? What do you mean?

There’s so many spells that would leave people gawking, and artifacts too. The staff of the god of chaos, that would be hilarious until you turn someone into a sweet roll accidentally. Imagine they’re the leader of the mages too in Skyrim, and correcting methods of magic in the world of TWST.

Shouts deserve their own paragraph. Like slow time is so op, and the Dovakin would immediately be made one of the strongest wizards. Shouts would make Overblot incidents over so quickly. Disarm is obvious, Become Ethereal is op, Bend Will op, Call of Valor literally summons the heroes across space and time for aid, and would Dragonrend work on Malleus? They’d be way too powerful for the world of TWST in short.

Call dragon would be interesting, but if that doesn’t work due to being in another world there is Summon Durnehviir could work since it crosses a dimension already from the Dawnguard dlc.

The Dovakin aspect is also something to consider since there’s Malleus a dragon fae. Would he sense it? Would Leona hate the smell of lizard you have? There’s a little bit to think about, but all quite interesting.

If it was ever brought up they bare dragon blood in their veins and know many dragons but have also killed many in the war that went beyond the living realm. Imagine the silence and jaw dropping from many staff and students. The strength to kill multiple dragons and maybe taking on two at once (unfortunately did in a city, I was confused by how many roars I heard).

The odd skills would be so useful though, lock picking, the strength to haul all those sweet rolls (does everything disappear into their inventory?), unfazed by undead, ambidextrous dual wielding, potions is alchemy, silent walking gets you tea and not even Khajit hear you. Lots of odd things to think about regarding it.

IM LOSING MY MINDDDD like I've hit the stage I hit when I was reading priory where I become so obsessed with the book I just want to read it all the time and it's all I can think about it's so so good

I'll talk a little bit about what's making me so insane the most below the cut - spoilers for a day of fallen night (prequel to the priory of the orange tree) below!

just. glorian and wulf. aaaaaa I love their relationship so much. I had a strange feeling wayyyy earlier in the book that something was going to happen and wulf might end up being the one to get glorian pregnant but just. they mean so much to me. their friendship is so sweet.

I'm just going so insane over glorian in general. she's a child!!! she's a 16-17 year old girl who is so scared but is so determined to be the best queen she can. her mother thought she wasn't enough and even though her mother isn't here to see her fulfill her duties she's so determined to be more than what her mother thought she would be. I seriously adore how samantha shannon wrote her. she genuinely feels so much like a teenage girl even as she gets more and more responsibilities settled on her shoulders.

and just. the way she's chained to her castle walls until she has a child. her body is an incubator and she can't defend her people the way she wants until her womb has served its purpose. she wants so badly to be more than a womb, she wants to be the shield for her people. she wants to be their protector. she wants to be their queen. but she can't do that until she continues this vicious cycle of the berethnet queens.

(also I just deeply appreciate how clear samantha shannon made it that glorian is aroace. I know she wrote tané as aroace in the first book which was great but it wasn't the kind of thing I could extrapolate from the text on my own. glorian's orientation never feels unnaturally slotted in it's just a part of who she is but it's very explicit at the same time. and I especially appreciate it since she does have sex! and she doesn't hate it, even joking with wulf like "oh how terrible we have to do this several times" but also knowing once she's pregnant she's never going to have sex again. like yes asexuals can have sex and even enjoy it and I just love the nuance glorian is given)

but man. glorian shieldheart. she's so young but she's doing such an amazing job as queen already and I'm so glad she had wulf and that he made sure she was comfortable and okay. I am terrified something is going to happen to wulf but if he survives the grief of ages I am so deeply hoping he gets assigned to stay in Inys serving glorian as a knight so he can watch his daughter grow up even if its from afar

also of course I love all the other characters too. I love dumai and nikeya's dynamic so much and I'm so obsessed with the two of them (I had first suspected maybe they were going to have something between them but I brushed it off and when I realized we were going that direction I literally cheered out loud). and tunuva... oh tunuva I love you. I want her to find wulf so badly. I'm also a bit pissed at esbar saying that tunuva doesn't feel the priory are enough, she's trying to find her SON!! I get you might not love your daughter more than any other priory sister esbar but tunuva loves both her children so deeply. I am very scared of what canthe/kalyba is up to. also when tunuva first told the story of how she lost her son to canthe I thought to myself "man wouldn't it be wild if that was wulf" and then I brushed it off bc I was like how would he get to inys. still don't know how he got there but I'm sure canthe had something to do with it.

What is people’s obsession with infantilisation ? Seriously asking. A 23 year old grown ass woman who was fully aware of every decision that she made, including carrying 2 children and marrying someone 7years her senior. It’s not like a 50 years old teacher/boss having a relationship with his 20 years old employee. Acting like Joe forced her into marriage and having children as if Sophie is not her own person with her own wants and needs like this is a completely unheard of set up.

When we consider specific modern age gaps, the best way to look at them, in my opinion, is to:

remember when the couple met/what age they were when they met

the dating histories of the respective person in the current relationship: how old were their partners and is there a pattern or a few suspicious stories?

People have very different "base" abilities to self advocate or self sufficient/defense levels at 19 vs 26 in the U.S. or England.

remember that 18-20 yr olds are not always that mentally that far from under 16/17 yr olds. (Put aside the "brain is not totally formed until 25" thing, it's useful but not a damning piece of information on how to judge relationships bc what if there was a 25 yr old and a 23 yr old? And we, as a society in the U.S., allow 18 yr olds to go to war [there aren't any age limits to actual combat] but not to drink). And no, I still wouldn't like/recommend a 20 yr old meeting and then having a relationship with a 16-17 yr old to be on the safe side. A 20 yr old still has more experiences they could use against that 16 minor--the potential is larger. There's a line (the legal age of 18) for a necessary reason: to lower the likelihood/make punitive abusive behaviors made easier from a power imbalance. even if that line/"arbitrary" age of majority the law notes is itself needing of review (again, that war vs drinking alcohol deal)

So we look askance at age differences when one of the partners is in their teens, even legal teens. Joe made the decision to pursue her almost right after she GoT ended, and she worked most of her teens in that show, not really exploring the world and having kids pretty early in her life. Now there are many people who begin parenthood in the late teens and early 20s who love and care for their kids and still also have a strong sense of self, but some of those people also have the added stress of knwoignhow to develop that balance in their lives that they wouldn't have had to do if they hadn't had kids that early. Some people are just beginning or trying to maintain having a job to self sustain, and having a child at this moment is going to be another stressor and pressure. And some are living poor or under the poverty line. They all have to "answer"/find out how they can parent while still learning things about themselves and their own emotional limits.

Therefore, it's case by case basis when we're looking at age gaps when both are over 18, but one is a bit too close to 18 for comfort. Even with the other not hitting 30 yet.

Now that I pointed out why it's a case by case thing WHILE ALSO it merits the suspicion it invites, let's look at the case of Joe and Sophie. Joe, as an individual with a history of having pursued a 13 yr old while he himself was 19 (Gigi Hadid), has already shown himself not "weird" (the ages make this word an understatement) but actually predatory. Again, he made the conscious choice to pursue a girl who would be in her 1st yr of high school or final year of middle school. Could still be playing with dolls. He did some work for it. No one arranged them together as if this were a noble marriage of alliance between two families out of the married persons' control. We (some Westerners, those with governments having laws against such things, and societies where women and girls are allowed some sort of room to pursue education and careers and make an independent living) are not in a society(ied) where a 16 yr old being paired with 30 yr olds for property is considered practically necessary or morally correct. Because we come from critics and activists that came into the mind that said girl/child should not be so exposed to sex, parenthood, etc. AND again, our economic infrastructure/the stakes are less...female autonomy-denying. Or at least want to be, and has placed the focus on women and children's desires and needs when "before", these were subordinate.

You might counterargue, "Sophie was over 18 when they married, she was a legal adult, not 13 (or under 18) like Gigi". First this shows you did not listen to me when I already talked about teens above 17 yrs of age. Second, the second an adult (18+) consciously pursues any person below 18, they reveal that they prefer younger partners over those their own age or around that. As to why, it could be that they feel "younger" themselves, bc they find it thrilling in a "other coin side" of way of thrilling that the "desirable" partner finds then attractive in a economy and society that places such desirability on youth/undesirablity on age already...or it could be that they like idea that they could have more economic power over the younger partner. Which is why it invites suspicion and concern; onlookers simply do not know for sure until other details and a pattern come to light.

Now since Joe decided to have a 13 yr old was anyone's idea of a proper sexual/romantic partner, the suspicion should not/is not suspicion anymore, it is a certainty. A certainty that this guy wants a younger partner bc he feels he has more actual, substantive control over them and what they do in terms of very personal decisions they should be making with as little selfish "guidance" as possible. After all, wtf and htf is a 19 yr old supposed to have a true relationship with a 13 yr old? What life are they supposed to have together that any 13 yr old would be ready for? Joe wasn't and isn't such an idiot to not be aware of this being a problem for a 13 yr old, so why pursue at all?

That was his history, and it is important bc it reveals his character and the material to know he has a lot of misogyny for reasons I already stated. It provides context for how he and his PR team is spinning their narrative against Sophie. What reason he has used to say that she is the bad person/parent. Like I said about the maesters and Rhaenys/Visenya/Rhaenyra HERE and HERE, it's about public perception using already-debated and misogynist ideas of womanhood, and parenthood, esp motherhood. His history shows that his pursuing Sophie when she was a "new adult" and himself already well into adulthood shows he's not into younger girls for innocuous reasons.

Again, it's the dating history of Joe, Sophie's ability to live on her own by her own determination as an adult before she met Joe, and the ages Sophie/Joe met before marrying and having kids.

Now 24 yr olds with 30-40s, I don't particularly care unless the older person is like from a prominent family or exponentially wealthier. And by country, of course. Which further drives the "case by case" deal.

EDIT/ADDITION:

From Tiktok, I found out that joe would be making a smear campaign against Sophie no matter what he did or did not do, no matter custody battles, etc. because he and his entire family are evangelical Christians who do not believe in no-fault divorce. Apparently, the idea is that "they made a promise to God, they broke, there's a bad guy", so someone has to be blamed for the separation.

And so if there is no obvious villain, as in infidelity, abuse, things like that, there has to be someone who gave up earlier. There has to be someone less involved. And so all of these rumors about Sophie Turner partying and being in the UK and way from the kids, all of this slant that's happening against towards her is to make it look like she gave up and she quit on the marriage so that when he gives up and quits on the marriage it's not because he wanted to it's because she had no choice.

Fun fact : when I was 10-12 I received Tess of the Road for my birthday. I had not read any books from that author prior to receiving it. I read it and loved it a lot back then because I loved Tess’s emotional journey and growth, but a lot of the book’s more mature content went right over my head. (I did not realise the third line in the Seraphina/Kiggs/Glisselda triangle was there until I reread the series two years ago)

I don’t even remember who gave it to me or when it was, just that it was at my 12th birthday maximum because I didn’t have a 13th birthday party and then Covid happened and during the pandemic I read the Seraphina series after having read Tess of the Road.

It’s the best book anyone has ever given me without me explicitly asking for that book (like in my Christmas list or something). Idk how my friends back then knew that I would love it. Props to them. I kinda wish I could start receiving books as gifts again just to find completely unexpected gems like these.

Anyway, I reread it at age 16 and it completely blew my mind. Like what do you mean this sixteen year old girl went through so much? I was her age when I reread Tess of the Road and it just made me so sad for her. I have never hated a book character more than I’ve hated Will (and it’s also SO ironic that their names are Tess and Will bc I’m such a big fan of the Shadowhunter Chronicles)

And yeah his punishment in the 4th book was not enough.

I’d love a third duology or a standalone about the third Dombegh sister Jeanne because I fear that a book about how conforming to society’s pressures/parental pressures and being obedient is so taxing while everyone thinks it’s easy and breaking down because of it would hit far too close to home and I want to read about her.

It’s odd because I think I’m an even mix of a little bit of all of them. Tess is this bold rogue girl who dreams of big adventures and is terribly let down by life but also looks out for underdogs because she is an underdog herself as an unconventional woman in a patriarchal society rooted in religious superstition. Seraphina always feels out of place because she can fit in neither the human world nor the dragon world (at least at the beginning of the first book) and is trying to carve out a spot for herself despite this. Jeanne seems like she’s got it easy because she was always the conventional obedient “good” “angelic” one and she found a husband easily and they’re in love. But we do see the facade slip at the end of Tess of the Road when she gets very angry at Tess for running away and making her fear the worst had happened to her twin.

Like?? I was so disappointed upon discovering online book fandom when I found out this didn’t have a big fan base. I’ll admit it’s not for everyone but it has dragons!! Medieval fantasy!! Unconventionally strong FMCs!! Complex relationships between sisters!! Interesting/compelling (at least to me) character growth!!

I feel like if you really loved the way Leigh Bardugo wrote about saints and religion in the Shadow and Bone / King of Scars series you’ll really love the way it’s explored in this series too especially in the Seraphina series. Religion/saints are really embedded in this world. Won’t say more bc of spoilers.

I would really recommend you read Seraphina and Shadow Scale, then Tess of the Road and potentially In The Serpent’s Wake (didn’t like it as much as Tess of the Road. Maybe my expectations were too high).

Idk where I was going with this, I just came on here wanting to rant about Tess of the Road, remembered not many people have read it and decided to do something about that. Hopefully I did a good job of not revealing too much while also making you interested in this series!

Missed childhood. TW!!!

I don't remember most of my childhood, mainly because it was traumatic af (from the little snippets I do remember)

I was taken by a social worker to live with my abusive grandparents when I was 9. Until they kicked me out when I turned 18. I think they hated me because I looked like my mother too much. Let me tell you this: My nan from that side of the family isn't related to me because my grandad cheated on my real nan with this ugly beast. I have disowned them both because of how they treated me, so I don't know why I'm calling them my grandparents. Let's just call them Tony and Trudy from now on.

The first few years of living there were... alright. They got me into a new school I hated because it was so small. My school was just a house, a very small house that could barely hold the students it had. To make it worse, the two girls who were there HATED me for no reason, so I had no one to talk to apart from the teachers, but who wants to talk to them?

I was getting bullied by them daily, and I became depressed. I shouldn't have done this, but I self-harmed for the very first time when I was 11/12. Of course, Tony and Trudy decided it was best to yell at me instead of talking to me, but that wasn't the end of it. As I grew into my teenage years, my depression got worse and worse, and so did the never-ending scar collection I was gathering on my wrist and thighs. Eventually, the two girls left my school, so I was finally safe from their words.

But I wasn't safe from them. Obviously, I still lived with them. The yelling the torment were a daily occurrence in our house; they were always comparing me to my younger cousins. How I didn't act like them, talk like them, have the same social skills as them. stupid, I know. Everyone is different, but they wanted me to be just as perfect as they are. Around this time, I began to speculate that I was autistic (because I had the traits), but they are old-fashioned. "autism isn't real, we didn't have autism back in my day"

You did, they were just sent away because people didn't know how to deal with them. My family even started begging them to get me tested because they all saw how I acted. One of my aunts works with autistic people, and even she said that I have most of the traits.

Then came the shit show of late 2019. The year I got graped and they blamed it on me. I won't go into detail bc, quite frankly, I don't wanna.

Then obviously Covid happened, then the UK went into lockdown down so that meant I was stuck with them inside for 3/6 months. What a hell that was. But to be honest, I don't really remember much from that year. But I do remember getting into Portal (thanks JSE for saving me, oh and ACNH!)

I unfortunately have tried to take my life more than once, and they knew this but refused to get me help. until I was 16. They thought it was a good idea to get me into bereavement counselling for my mother, who died when I was 4. I was stuck in a room of 7-year-olds, and this one random 14-year-old. I did no talking so it was basically an arts and craft hour for me, until it ended (I got a free McDonald's)

Then came the day I finally walked out, I had had enough of their bullying, lies. They were yelling at me because they wanted my birth certificate for something but I didn't have it, my nan did. But she denied the fact and said that she had given it back (she didn't, she found it in her bedside drawer lmao)

They were trashing my room, pulling out drawers and spilling the contents onto my bed/the floor. My room was a mess. They had finally broken me. I packed up my bags and left. June 2022 was the last time I spoke to them. I don't regret what I did that day, if I didn't leave. I would be dead.

I am now very happy living with my other grandparents (the nan that tony cheated on) They don't restrict me, they don't yell at me. AND I HAVE PETS

i've realised that im not cis in high school around 16 years old during lockdown. thinking back on childhood i never liked being typically girly and typically boyish. ive always mixed these two. my barbies were mechanics and my lego houses were built by women. i played knights in skirts and was always the dog of the family or maybe the father but only if my friends didnt want an animal in the game. i liked playing in mixed sports teams and was pissed when we got seperated in middle school. i hated the girls dressing room to get changed.

the beginning of high school when i got boobs i hoped for breast cancer. every night it was my only wish to falls asleep to. sometimes it still is. for two years ive only worn sports bras till my mom said i need a real bra bc otherwise my boobs will get saggy. the shop with all the bras was horror.

in the middle of high school before covid, during dancing lessons and starting to go out i forced myself into a box of femininity. ive always loved makeup but i had the THICKEST eyeliner. always. even on weekends and when i was sick i did my makeup. i miss doing it now sometimes: the funny and colorful looks. i bought thigh dresses for dancing lessons when all i wanted to do was wear a suit and ask a girl to dance with me. but j had to wait till someone asks me.

during the end of high school and during covid i started to realise that i am more than just a box that i need to shove myself into. also at that time instagram started to allow users to put their pronouns in their bio. i chose she/they for funsies as in german there is no “they”.

from there on it was a striaght line. not thinking or not wanting to think about it anymore. but then my partner asked about it and a wall broke down. with them talking to me about their identity i realized how i feel about me.

now in uni i hate it when people call me miss. in german there is no gender neutral possibility to adress someone so i always get called miss. i dress the same every day. its black pants, black hoodie. i miss color. but color makes my boobs look huge. i hate going out like that.

at the end of 2023 i did therapy to get a mastectomy but i had to end it before i got to a diagnosis. at the start of 2024 i thought: this year im gonna tell everyone. i did not. i thought about a better name for myself. i wanted one with the same initial. i maybe found a good one. i’ve told two friends about it. im not using it. at the start of 2025 i thought i'll try the name this year, maybe during the senester holidays in february. i did not. maybe with the new semester starting march. i told no one yet. maybe soon. maybe next year. maybe after university in some years.

i know i dont wanna die a woman. i dont wanna be remembered as a woman. but the thought of tellong everyone is scary.

I did this so you don’t have to. This is by no means a like… REAL OFFICIAL thing but this is from what I hear in my time in the fandom and then also dubious math. If the math isn't quite right- its because they have different birthdays or something, whatever. Anyway these are my chronological age headcanons.

Dick Grayson Taken in: So I know two things which is Bruce becomes Batman at 26 and he gets Robin after being Batman for 3 years. It does feel a little old but also I HATE the instinct to keep everyone (especially Bruce) super young. Ages for Dick during this time are all over the place but for the other ages to make sense and also my personal preference, I think he was 8/9, which I think was also his original age in the comics.

Barbara Batgirl: There are SOOOO many different timelines for Babs, I really have no clue. Like sometimes she in like college and Dick is in like middle school? Sometimes they're the same age? Sometimes she's just a little bit older? I like that she's a little bit older especially because it makes it less creepy when they get together later on. Dick is definitely a teenager when she joins the fight but uhh this is kinda of conjecture and kinda based on Robin: Year One bc its one of my favorite Robin comics but also this is definitely not Dick's first year as Robin. I definitely do subscribe to the idea that they went to high school together but I definitely think they were decently far apart.

Jason Taken in: Ok, again, ages vary like CRAZY on this but it's generally agreed that Dick left around end of high school/college so 17/18. I shot for the middle and I think the age that makes the most sense, but then that complicated Tim's age down the line... they are so impossible. Anyway so he's 12 even though thats a little too old.

I think in a perfect world he was with Bruce from age 10-15 but then that fucks up Dick's age which is truly the most impossible thing about doing this because then he'd be like 35 in the current universe which is a little too old bc theres no way he's that close to 40.

I'm also indecisive and I think he should be 15 around Red Hood so pick your poison, but I'm more on team 13. I really don't know how long after his death Jason is resurrected so he's on here too even if one of those 16 years he was dead.

Current Novel ideas that I'm working on (in the loosest sense of the word) (12/30/2024)

Mermaids Young Adult Novel - babies get left at the seaside in a land where the knowledge that any unwanted child will be taken by the sea and carried to safety. Naia (age 16) is one of these babies. She becomes a mermaid and ends up getting caught on a fish hook one day, causing her to have to rapidly take on a human form (too long to explain here) and brought to land. She meets another mermaid-come-human named Rhea, who tries to help her get back to her colony of mermaids while keeping their secret. Meanwhile, she also forms a crush on the teenage worker at Rhea's bake shop, Zoe, who is fascinated by the tales of mermaid society. It's a Queer YA Romance very loosely based on The Little Mermaid.

The Q Word - Juliet Li is a transgender teen girl who has been bounced around the foster system since she was ten years old, after her parents disowned her. She is sixteen and counting down the days until she is out of the system and can be reunited with her older sister, Mae, who is the only person in her family who ever supported her. In the meantime, she is placed in a foster home for LGBTQ+ youth, run by a queer couple (cis-queer mom and trans dad) who already have two adopted children and one other foster child living with them. Juliet is cis-passing and her experience has made her reluctant to be out as trans in her new school, desperate for a new start where nobody treats her differently. This one started as an anthology about eight foster kids living in the same home, but now all the kids attend the same school with Juliet as the main character. Based so loosely on Snow White. Queer YA novel, slightly coming of age, but a little romance and found family.

WLW Romance about two women with MS - this one is kind of personal to me as somebody with recently diagnosed, early stage RRMS. My idea is the two main leads meet in a support group for MS. The first person, whose POV we start with, has just been recently diagnosed with early stage MS, and has been prompted by her doctor to attend the support group. She resists for a hot minute before finally giving in and going. There, she meets another woman with slightly more advanced MS, who walks with an aid (likely a cane). They kind of lock eyes across the room. The woman with more advanced MS uses humor as a defense mechanism, but she's funny and charming and Character 1 is immediately drawn to her. I haven't really come to a conclusion on names yet, but I swear I'm so close to calling them Aubrey and Kathryn (not bc I ship the actresses they're named after, but I legit love their names and would also love them to play these roles if I ever finished the book and got it optioned for a movie like I'm manifesting). Aubrey is definitely the name of at least one of them tbh. I always loved that name. This one would definitely be adult-oriented and kinda smutty I think. I really think the representation of queer women with disabilities is important and this is at least one I know something about.

How Far Does the Stardust Go? - More Queer YA because it's been my favorite genre since I was the target audience. One of my friends and I were spitballing one day while writing together and she kind of helped me come up with this idea about reincarnation and how past lives might work if people remembered them. It's about two girls from two very different living situations who have this great scientific/medical knowledge (none of which I have btw) and they're invited to take a test to see which one of them was a doctor in their past life who was killed just before he could share his research on a cure for a Very Serious Disease that is plaguing their world. The results of the test show that both girls could possibly be the reincarnation of this scientist, which is thought to be impossible because that just doesn't happen in their world. A soul can't split in two. Stardust doesn't carry on like that. Or does it? The girls are put through more tests and both are sure that they are the one that is actually the reincarnation of the doctor. The wealthier of the two, Iris, is desperate to find the cure because her sister has the illness and no amount of money can save her without a cure. The less wealthy, Ximena, is desperate because proving that she is the reincarnation means that she can skip college (and the cost) and go straight into a thriving career with minimal training, which could bring her and her family out of poverty. The girls start as adversaries, but soon they start to realize that they may be two halves of the same soul. Kinda of soulmates-esque. They also share memories of their past life which get clearer the closer they are to one another and soon discover that the doctor may not have fallen due to illness, but rather due to more nefarious causes. Queer YA with a little bit of mystery.

I have ADHD so a lot of this is just planning, but there are so many ideas running rampant through my brain that I just need to get on paper. Hopefully 2025 is the year when I get one of these out there for y'all to read.

okay, so im trying to work out the timeline of rise and i need a place to log my shit so i can remember my thought process.

a lot of rambling is under the cut btw. i hope its coherent for my own records if nothing else

so. season one theyre said to be m:13, d:14, l:14, r:15, and a:16. april has a birthday episode in season one. according to the air date of "warren and hypno sitting in a tree," this birthday occurred on June 1st, 2019. ignore the actual date if you have a different headcanon for her birthday bc its not actually important, but im using it as a base for her age.

so if april is 16 at the start of season 1, she should be turning 17, right? no. later, in "always be brownies," one of casey's girls calls her old and april responds with "im 16!" so she turned 16 on her birthday. the air date of that episode was may 15, 2020. so she hasn't had her next birthday yet. this means that the show started with her as 15 and there is a period of time in which she is the same age as raph

we cannot 100% follow the air date as the day those events happened in universe, however, because that puts a lot of conflicting episodes happening at the same time. (ex: "mystery meat" & "always be brownies," "the hidden city job" & "sidekick ahoy!" as those 4 all came out on the same day, but the significant characters of those episodes were in both of the two i paired each with. arguments could be made that they both could have happened tho. for example, take the latter pairing i made. leo and donnie had a fight and leo went to hueso's to find an "im sorry i called you a selfish, egg headed weirdo" pizza, and did the heist. after repairing his relationship with donnie, they all go on a jupiter jim marathon, and the events of "sidekick ahoy!" occur. so we're gonna ignore that bc arguments can be made)

all of this to say that in season one april starts at 15 and turns 16. none of the turtles ages are mentioned in the show as far as i can remember. i have heard that they dont celebrate their birthdays (source needed). they dont really know their birthdays so i guess they just up their age on the anniversary of their mutation. (i have headcanons on their birthdays, but thats another post.) april would then turn 17 before the fam takes their trip to the hidden city and all get arrested

and now ive kinda lost the flow for where i was going with this. i will say that, based on air dates again, "the lair games" and "flushed but never forgotten" happened between "the purple game" and "man vs sewer," meaning that piebald got flushed around the episodes "minotaur maze" and "bug busters"

the air dates, especially for season 2 are gonna be kinda inaccurate since they were pushed back because of covid, but it could be interpreted that in universe everyone was quarantined for a bit while there were no episodes.

also im basing their ages off of the air dates purely bc "the lair games" episode is in 2019. it says it on the pop up with ppl's names. then the later year mention at the very beginning of the movie is 2044. so they are locked into the timeline. also? trying to make sense of april's canon age from the beginning of the show and tie it into her mention of how old she is AFTER having a birthday was confusing me without the air dates to help out.
