5 years ago today, I started this legacy by creating my version of who Marr is behind the mask in-game. The first OC of many, many more - but he remains the most important one (sorry Lia) because without him this legacy wouldn't even exist ♡

So I guess today's my Marr's birthday? ..Time to celebrate!

So I've been rewatching clips from the show lately to refresh my memory while I'm writing my Zuko Alone fanfic. And last night I rewatched the clip where Iroh teaches Zuko how to redirect lightning and I have had thoughts about this scene for years so I might as well finally throw them into the void of tumblr.

So, this scene is insane to me, because at the end of learning how he could-hypothetically- redirect lightning, Zuko looks at Iroh and, completely seriously says "okay I'm ready to try it with the real thing now". Like, Zuko, the boy with a massive scar on his face from where his father burned him just looks at his uncle and says, "shoot me with lightning".

And yes, he's 16 and not thinking but that's part of the point because the amount of blind, complete trust Zuko has in Iroh to look at him and say "shoot lightning at me" after the insane trauma he had at the hands of his own father- that is WILD to me. Zuko literally trusts Iroh so much that he just assumes, without even having to think about it, that no matter how volatile and unpredictable the lightning is, Iroh won't hurt him because Zuko cannot fathom his uncle hurting him.

And of course, Iroh's appalled because Zuko's standing there with a massive scar on his face from when his father misused firebending against him and likewise, Iroh cannot fathom hurting Zuko. And since IROH knows how volatile and unpredictable lightning is and how it could literally kill his son nephew he is absolutely NOT going to use it just to let Zuko practice redirecting lightning, but he's so flabbergasted that Zuko would even ask him that that he just kind of splutters angrily that he will ABSOLUTELY NOT shoot lightning at Zuko. (it's also just another layer of how messed up Ozai is because he shot lightning at Zuko without a second thought later)

But I hope Iroh thought about it later and realized the amount of pure, unthinking trust Zuko has in him because ;-; the child didn't even THINK about it. "Okay uncle shoot lightning at me now. I know I'll be safe because it's you." I love them so much 😭😭

It's always funny to me when in an lu fic the chain is offered bananas and don't accept them. Like, you're offering these high energy adventures free food?? Fruit they'll have never even heard of before??? A ridiculously expensive imported good at best?? AND it boosts your attack?

Not ONE of these idiots would ever turn down something new and interesting to eat at least once. They'd be all over those bananas and immediately get dubbed yiga and I'm honestly surprised no one has used it in a fic yet 🤭

I love the fact that the Silvermane Guards are essentially just a very devoted "We Love Gepard Landau" fanclub, and I desperately need for all of them to get into ship wars about it behind their Captain's back. The soldiers are all split into several factions:

Some of them ship him with Sampo 🛡💣 (enemies to lovers/hateship enjoyers; this does not necessarily mean they like Sampo- in fact it's more like most of them want to sic their Captain on him skzjsmdm)

Some of them ship him with Bronya 👑🛡 (knight and princess trope enjoyers and also a sorta-kinda "that is our mom and dad" type of deal; this faction gets riled up and ridiculously hypes Gepard up to Bronya every time she comes down to the frontlines mskdkxmd)

Some of them ship him with the trailblazer 🛡💫 (the smallest and newest faction, but steadily gaining!)

Some of them ship him with Pela ❄🛡 (workplace romance enjoyers; Gepard once charged out into the Fragmentum alone to save Pela from an expedition gone horribly wrong, and when this faction saw Gepard carrying Pela back princess style they threw a whole party)

Some of them ship him with Dunn 🛡🗡 (also workplace romance; Dunn is very flattered by this because yeah wrong Landau, but wow, the troops really think he's good enough to woo the Captain, what an honor)

And some of them ship themselves with the Captain 🛡❤ (yumejoshi enjoyers; this faction throws a massive group effort every Valentine's Day and are also all very supportive of each other)

The final faction is an odd one, because they're defined not by who they ship their beloved Captain Gepard with, but rather by who they don't ship him with. Their name is generally shortened to the A.B.S. Group- Anybody BUT Sampo 🚫💣 DKSZJJSMSOZ

The ending of maternal instinct is... weird? Doesn't make much sense?

Vlad has on the Specter Deflector, a belt that protects him from ghosts. Repeat after us: Vlad cannot be attacked by ghosts, he cannot be touched, because he is wearing a protective artifact created by the Fentons.

And it was Danny who gave it to him.

So why does he run away from the ghosts, when Danny turns them against him? It makes no sense.

They can't hurt him: he is protected by the Specter Deflector.

He can stay there, wait for Maddie to return and beg her to protect him from the, buhu oh so evil, ghosts. The fact that he has the belt on should be part of his plan!

Him running away is... a forced ending? Isn't Vlad just... winning? Now he can deal with Danny without Danny being able to touch him as a ghost, because he'll get hurt, and so he's forced to stay in his human boy form?

And Vlad is DEFINITELY stronger than him if they're both in human form?

sdfdfWFFEFFFRWRE what is happening doesn't make sense.

(Maybe I will elaborate more on it later, maybe I won't. Or maybe I will write some fanfic, trying to understand what the heck happened here).

So many people write Magnus as this sort of suave, devious guy who charms his way into getting what he wants and I am here to argue that this misses his character by a mile. This guy is a failure of a person who is surprisingly nonviolent at the end of the day (but cannot tell the difference between psychological torment and physical abuse). Guy spent like a decade stewing in thoughts of revenge but crucially was only able to get a tiny fraction of it because someone else, MMA, pulled him into their schemes. He does make for a fun villain but it does seem that most people take him at surface value and forget that this mofo is so self sabotaging that he ruined his own life way worse than anyone else's.

The other night I met this guy in a bar. While drinking he silently looked at me, almost long enough for me to snap at him and punch his face.

But then he suddenly said: "You've got BPS, right? Borderline?"

At first I thought he was kidding, so I snorted. Showed him my - tattooed - wrists.

"I'm not a fucking wristcutter, man."

Though I've had cigarette burn marks on them. And they didn't have been there accidentially. Plus I like knifeplay, and not only being at the giving end when it comes to that.

Anyway, he then started to explain what symptoms this disorder actually comes along with.

It hit home. So fucking much.

At some point I asked him how he got an idea I might have BPS.

"I've seen the pain in your eyes", he said. Quite a little over-dramatic I guess.

However, I ended up with two empty bottles of vodka and a new cigarette burn mark on my arm.

i'm just-- i keep getting caught off guard with how honest joke is? like is this not a big deal? am i reading too much into it? i feel like its incredibly intimate to say "i fall asleep to your voice" to someone, especially when you have feelings for them.

its interesting to me how the show is setting joke having a hidden agenda, but in many ways man is incredibly easy to read. (like the way he gets all flustered when zo 'practiced' asking him out on a date. how he couldn't meet zo's eyes afterwards. adorable.)

on the flip side, zo seems very oblivious/naive/innocent. (look at his pout, so freaking cute!) he doesn't seem to be questioning any of joke's (very suspicious) behaviour. but also what kind of person asks their sort of enemy for help wooing their ex? zo seems to have this social cluelessness, like with the way he wouldn't let go of nita's bag during his last disaster attempt to get her to notice him.

its like the show is really hammering in that zo is someone who will be easy to take advantage of.

ok this is sweet but i'm also very amused because this is a college romance bl and there are no supernatural/mafia elements, so what kind of danger is this trying to foreshadow exactly? is one of them secretly a spy? xD it feels comically overdramatic.

uh-oh! poor zo. nita's reaction before and after he mentions needing help with an assignment is pretty telling about her lack of romantic interest in him. QuQalso wtf are you so happy about zo, please tell me you realise you did not actually ask a girl out on a date right now. x'D

well at least she shut it down very quickly. although i can't tell if zo picked up on that. but i wonder what his goal was here -- like, why this story? its so random O_O
