Okay I get this in its entirety HOWEVER. The first part about how North Americans are the "well adjusted" ones rubs me in entirely the wrong way.
Like americans very, very much tried to do the exact same thing, we just failed for the most part because the continent could eat the british isles for breakfast and still have room for a main course; many of those species they tried to wipe out just had too large of a range to be wiped out completely. That isn't to say they didn't do severe damage. Keystone species are still barely starting the road to true recovery. Bison inhabit a miniscule fraction of their pre-colonial range, wolves were nearly driven extinct, and the sentiment to kill every large predator species is still very much alive.
Just this year, there was a sighting of a jaguar in Arizona, a part of their pre-colonial native range. There's been a depressing amount of people thinking that the cat should be killed or relocated, despite the fact the animal poses little threat to people's lives, property, and (properly taken care of) pets.
That also brings me to the fact that the largest agricultural crop of america is -drumroll please- lawn grass. The ratio of suburban-to-urban areas and so-called "untouched land" is skewed when comparing it to the UK because the UK doesn't have half the biomes we have over here; if the entire continent of north america had the same environmental conditions as the british isles, you bet your ass it would've been a carbon copy of suburban wastelands coast to coast.
What I'm trying to say is, the only reason we still have mountain lions, coyotes, bison, moose, otters, and bobcats is because people recognized their worth and were genuinely alarmed by the ecosystem collapse happening due to human negligence. I understand the sentiment of pointing at a ruptured septic tank and going "this is fucking atrocious", but only once you've acknowledged you're also standing ankle deep in shit. North America is "wildin" because people are putting up a huge, arduous fight to keep it that way, while a non-minor part of the population is either indifferent, or actively trying to destroy and exploit what's left. While we should definitely call out what's happened to the UK's encironments, its downright irresponsible to suggest we as North Americans are the pinnacle of environmental preservation.

Actually your society is the freaks for shooting everything that moves and burning half your "nature reserves" every year so that upperclass dandies can eat leaded pheasant. North Americans are the well adjusted ones here, your country has become a desolate suburban lawn in island form

Real places that belongs in gothic fantasy:
The Sanded Church of Skagen
Tumblr media
Over time sand from the nearby sea claimed this church. Here’s a drawing of what it looked like as it was slowly swallowed by nature.

The lower part is inaccessible but you can still get into the tower.

Inside where the roof to the lower part is still visible.
Tumblr media
Backside where you can see where they eventually removed the part of the roof still visible over the sand.

MS World Discoverer was a German expedition cruise ship. It hit an uncharted reef in the Sandfly Passage 29. April 2000. The hole was too big to get it repaired on the spot, so all the guests were taken ashore. A few hours later the captain ran the ship full speed on ground in Rodrick bay. (via sv_manjana)
