i had a dream last night that someone set up a Clone Wars Book Club and it was rewatching the show, basically, but in chronological order and everyone watched separately but then got on the "book club" threads once a week to go over the eps and how things connected (or didn't) and implied retcons and so on and so forth and, anyway, it was a fun little dream, i have to say

I'll give John Malkovert this: he does seem disturbingly horny for the idea of inherent traits and inborn social hierarchy. Beeblevert didn't really seem to know what to do with his phrenology displays; Malkovert whispers to them lovingly at night and probably licks them. This guy feels about eugenics like Grantaire feels about Enjolras. This guy is messed up.

( ...filmmakers know that when they've got someone with lots of human skull measurements and phrenology and Types of Human displays, they're saying that character is into eugenics, right? I'm not saying it's a bad move, it can be very accurate and telling ,but like. They get what that's doing there, right? RIGHT???)

The dialogue...is bad.... it's so bad...

this timeline is a shambles. Fantine doesn't have Cosette until after Tholomyes is gone, and then apparently holds out for YEARS in Paris, since Cosette is if anything a little older than her book age when Fantine meets the Ts; meanwhile Valjean doesn't get out of prison until AFTER Fantine has moved to M-sur-M. Which of course means there's no factory for her to work at!

...but then after Valjean (very intentionally) steals from Petit Gervais, we cut to Fantine working in the factory. The Nettle Cloth factory . Which means Fantine was doing SOMETHING before Valjean showed up to Disrupt the industry with his Tech Breakthrough but like. What. If she was doing something else then why doesn't she go do that some more after she's fired? Because she very much doesn't, she goes right to attempting sex work...badly

like trying it with Javert first Badly

and then he threatens to arrest her but doesn't?? who is this man, what kind of Javert is he ffs . Letting a Poor go unarrested? Seriously this doesn't even scan with his characterization in this series

Instead he starts stalking Fantine and giving her Helpful Hints. He comes in right after she has a client?? and tells her to go to the circus??

She goes and finds the dentist and tries to get him to pull TEN of her teeth bc for no reason he's giving 4 francs a tooth instead of 20 for the fronts. The dentist is the only character in this show with sense and says NO THAT'S TOO MANY TEETH, and he just cuts her hair instead And listen we've got another Fantine with Mostly Straight Brown Hair , it's not even that long, and I'm sorry but there's NO WAY that's worth more than teeth, why do adaptations keep doing this

also why do they keep making Fantine so passive, so dependent on people telling her what to do? She makes bad choices sometimes--often even!-- but she Makes Decisions and fast, she goes all in without any pushing, that is a defining part of Fantine's character! but everything she does here gotta be because someone told her she Should

another one where Javert inexplicably goes to M sur M to see Cosette. Why? What possible reason for this?? he almost seems like he has a weird crush on Fantine rather than JVJ but that's. That's incoherent, for this character. even in this series!!

I've written so much and haven't even gotten to Valjean officiating a wedding for, apparently, a famous former sex worker in the town ? this is mentioned once and I don't think it'll ever be relevant again

Let's talk about why Miracle and Plague will be a short series and additionally why I chose to write out characters such as Kagami, Zoe, Felix (I'm sorry baby </3)

Miracle and Plague won't be very long. In fact, It will be twice as short as the canon, purely because I feel like the series lost that sparkle, that thing that really made it special somewhere in the season 3. All of it started feeling worn out, boring or just annoying. It's also when the decision to re-estate Chloe as a villain really took place, so I'm obviously very displeased with how the seasons went on, but It's not the only reason! Adrien's character got completely assasinated, replaced by 10 and more heroes. I really like the doubt arc they had going for him, but It was never actually memorable or so impactful. All the focus seemed to be on Marinette and her issues, but the character who's the closest to the main villain, the one with a ton of their own insecurities to be explored was pushed aside. To add to that, the newer heroes were becoming boring or just straight up made me sigh when Ladybug needed to go get someone to help. Don't even get me started on the mass-hero episodes like Partycrusher or Penalteam. It was a lot squished together into 2 seasons where If not for the miraculous reveal, It would've been nothing short of a filler episode.

I feel like not adding too many plotlines, characters is simply a better idea. It'll ensure that all the existing ones will be explored to their best potential. Adrien's family story, Chloe's character, Chloe and Sabrina's relationship, Jiayi and Lila's relationship/rivalry, Alya's hero potential, Lila's urge for chaos, Monarch/Gabriel's motivation, Master Fu's backstory, possible expansion of Wonders - these are very good plotlines! Not even mentioning the side/less important plots like Luka and Jiayi's past, Unicorn band, Juleka wanting to be a model, Juleka and Rose's plot, Alix's hidden Wonder, Natalie's crush on Gabriel, Adrien's self-discovery. There's a LOT of them already and to add like 10 more just because I want a new character would extend and complicate the plot further. Not that I wouldn't take the challenge, but I just want to see this series conclude in a way that in my opinion is more satisfying than whatever we're getting.

As for the characters I wrote out.. I think most of them already have a sort of pattern to them where you can tell why I removed them.

Zoe. Oh Zoe, the worst character I've had the displeasure of seeing on screen. I already reblogged plenty of content in regards to her, so I'll just refrain from writing a rant on that excuse of a character.

As much as I would've loved to keep Kagami (I still might), I really feel she wouldn't fit the narrtive so nicely. Of course, she appears in Riposte, but upon reviewing the timeline of MnP, that's literally the only episode she is taking an active part in as of today. I don't really see a reason to keep her in the lore If she'll appear once and never again, It feels a bit counterproductive, but like I said, I am still thinking about this one, because her and Adrien have so much potential in development; both coming from strict, cold households, both fencing... They do have quite a bit in common. Maybe If I just move Riposte to season 1....

Moving on to Felix, I believe I already mentioned that my first opinion of him was bitter. I didn't really like him being there and the fact that he look eerily like Adrien as If they'd reused his model was just weird (ig now we know WHY season 5 spoilers). Then, the opinion shifted to much better after mostly Emotion really and since then I really did like him, but... Looking at his journey from the end of season 3 to here and his role in the overarching plot I feel like he just wouldn't fit to MnP, not with the format I'm going for.

Besides, can I just mention how random it was that Emilie and Felix's mom look literally identical AND their sons look identical as well? It made me so confused when I first watched the episode lmao

My WIPs (or at least the ones I can remember)

Portal:

"Opera Beneath Aperture": Where the Geekenders version is vaudeville, mine is more pop-opera in the style of "Phantom" or "Wicked". Basically just remixing the soundtrack and adding lyrics. There will be comedy, but at the end of the day, playing the melodrama of "Portal 2" straight is just easier. (Progress 30%)

"Rat Race": An homage to the US "The Office", but one by one the characters are axed off as Aperture becomes a more and more dystopian place to work. (Progress 10%)

"Portrait of a Lady: A Romanticized Horror": Prequel character-study on Caroline, obviously. She's preppy like Kim, but being born in the 1930's she's more sexually repressed, and therefore even more of a manic-pixie-nightmare-girl. She blacks out and murders her gynecologist for malpractice in Chapter 3; yeah it's that kind of a story. Also she's pretty racist? To the extent that any person from that era running a dystopian secessionist megacorporation would have to be. (Progress 50%)

Better Call Saul:

"Sheepdog": A traumatic event causes Kim to question the nature of her own reality. We the fans love Kim... but we do not respect her. (Progress 50%)

"Slippin Kimmy": This is my SERIOUS entry for what I think should happen next in the story. Basically a lot of white-hat Heisenberging around. She stops a shooting at a Planned Parenthood in episode 2; yeah it's that kind of a story. If that's what "WYCARO" ends up being, I'll be happy. If not? Hey it's free money, Vince. I'll just leave it on the table 'til you're done being done again. (Progress 5%)

"Last Clear Chance Doctrine": In 6x05 Jimmy calls Kim to say he's going to be late; Howard wants to fight him in the ring. Kim says she'll be right over. (Progress 0%)

"Just Take the Money": Parallel "Breaking Bad" timeline, where Walt accepts Eliot's hand-out. It'll make you wish he had stuck to cooking meth. I'm probably going to include a subplot where Saul bangs Skyler cus it makes me smile. (Progress 0%)

Crossovers/Other:

Steven Universe: "Warp Congestion": Steven figures out how to remove his gem and live as a normal human for extended periods of time. And if you think this sounds like a contrivance to write Rose Quartz back into the story... it is! Pearl was supposed to hold onto the gem for the day, but as the administrative headaches of helping to keep Little Homeworld organized pile up, Rainbow Quartz starts to revert back to v 1.0. (Progress 5%)

Steven Universe: "Roughhousing": You ever have those moments with your spouse, where one minute you're joking around and everything seems fine, and then one little comment gets taken wrong and suddenly everything gets a bit ugly? Even Ruby and Sapphire have those moments. And it made for one hell of a night at Beach City Underground Wrestling. (Progress 100%... but it's in the format of a Torts practice exam. Yes really)

Barry: "A Plan for Sally": My OC, Rita, has been going around to various netflix shows and selling life-insurance and family planning policies to the love-interest characters in crime dramas. Well, Rita will call them "insurance policies"; what they really are are Faustian bargains. If you thought the ending to "Barry" was weird, rushed, or maybe even a little saccharine, Rita is why. (Progress 0%)

Midnight Mass: "The Girl Who Ate the World": Erin Greene wakes up lying in the grass to find herself - not just alive - but sparkling in the sun like a million little diamonds. It's a miracle! Second only to the bad-miracle of news that the Angel survived and is transforming people in the Portland subway system as we speak. Rita is in this one too. (Progress 50%)

"Crack Fic: Torts and Torts": Kim Wexler, Dolores Abernathy, and Love Quinn attend a mobwives convention in Napoli. After a few drinks, Kim and Love get into a tense conversation about dead brothers, and more specifically when/how a spouse is at-fault for the death of a brother-in-law. Kim forgets the argument after she sobers up, but Dolores warns her to watch her back. Sure enough, Love attacks Kim with a katana and they must battle it out as frenemies. (Progress 2%)

"300 Million Cowboys": I re-write Better Call Saul as a pulpy beach-read about vampires. With enough changes to the plot that it can be legally sold on Kindle. Kim is now named Jean Troy. Jimmy is now named Sammy McCormick. Mike and Chuck have been merged into one character. Kevin and Howard have been merged into one character. (Progress 2%)

People talk about a twst otome game but like, should it be a straight forward visual novel?

Because if it were to be a something like tokimeki memorial- oh you wont see me for MONTHS

HEAR ME OUT (discussing specific mechanic under the cut)

I just wanna preface that I've only played the girl's side games and thats what Im basing my ramblings off of.

I don't think the bomb mechanic of the games will work for a cast of 22 characters. Maybe if you hang out with them to a certain amount, they'll start getting crabby if you stop hanging out with them all of a sudden and they bombs affect the characters within their dorm. Maybe some overlap with clubs. For example you dont hangout with Kalim as much, making Lilia and Cater go :/ but Jamil would be so peeved now Kalim's moping to him about it, how dare you prefect >:[[

Maybe the stats instead of the usual style, intelligence, etc. are based off the traits of each of the dorms like strictness, perseverance, benevolence, mindfulness, tenacity, diligence, and nobility. And they correspond to each dorm ie. Riddle's route would need more strictness.

To raise certain stats, there's the usual classes of history, alchemy, and PE. History raises strictness, mindfulness, and nobility. Alchemy raises tenacity and diligence. PE raises perseverance and maybe diligence too. There'll also be other actions and events like help out in the kitchen based off of the master chef course (Crowley gived them a school given job i guess) that raises mindful and benevolence. And so on.

Money and Stress is still a stat bc we gotta keep it real, the amount of times the Ramshackle Duo is mentioned to be at the mercy of Crowley's stinginess.... how could it not. Stress is self explanatory.

I don't think the dress up mechanic could work but I think an alternative that's so much better would be items used to boost stats like textbooks (you cant buy multiple but one type and it raises that stat permanently). Maybe when you'll get to a point that you can purchase gifts for the cast as well.

Grim will hate this but... taking care of Grim mechanic. He'll function just fine on his own but taking care of him by like making sure he studies, goes to class, etc. It'll raise stats and will even net you attention from others.

Getting this type of game would also be a good way to get a timeline of events in between overblots. I know there are alt versions like the fairy gala if but maybe you choose which version you play through at the beginning for the game since fairy gala if is only really possible after chapter 6 but the original can take place whenever so it'll be a smooth.

I don't think it has to have a romantic end goal, you can stay friends with characters even if you hit that romance threshold. With the amount of characters too, if you do choose to romance multiple people... I'd like to think word 'round a place like NRC travels fast and a confrontation will happen soon.

thats kind of it for concepts I can think of. Maybe at the end of the year is the end card of how your life progresses in Twisted Wonderland, ie. you have high strictness and benevolence you stay at NRC and become staff etc. Think of the ending system of Princess Maker. The default is that you don't make it back home, but there are certain events you trigger to get the option to go back home. For all the yumes out there, there'll also be maybe a cg of your chosen love interest and a snippet of your life with them (LET ME BE DELUSIONAL)

I've been following you on here pretty much since you started blogging and I just found out I've also been following you on Twitter without realizing it 🤣

People say Tumblr is just as bad as Twitter, what's your opinion? I lurk on both, but I feel like I see a LOT more firsthand craziness on Twitter, but mostly responses to craziness (usually from Twitter) on Tumblr.

Do you think the vibe on Tumblr is gonna change if Twitter dies?

I had some friends point out that I mostly successfully lurked on Twitter and then when everyone was sharing their tumblr/insta links with their moots for the possible digital titanic (lmfaoo! Love that) of Twitter, I figured I would too. And they then said it was like I just did a face reveal. The shock some people had 😅🤣 and now I'm feeling a little exposed on Twitter. Lol but that's okay, I'm deleting the post later so the few who saw it, yay. Let me know if we are moots or not anon and if you want to be lol

I don't think Twitter is actually going anywhere anytime soon. I don't think it's going to capsize on us like Titanic, although the amount of panic over it right now is very Titanic 🤣 I think it's going to be a slow painful agonizing death that gets drawn out. Lol unfortunately. Maybe Elon can pull his head out his ass long enough to ask for help and maybe it can be turned around

Tumblr has survived through every time people thought the site would go down. It survived through every other social media crash. It's adapted, overcome, and gone straight back to its own specialized verison of a hellsite as it always has. At least, from my experience. Lol it'll probably be an adjustment period. Especially as people from Twitter try to bring Twitter culture over onto tumblr and have it not work quite as well. But I think overall it'll be fine. The nice part in MY experience with tumblr is that what you see is VERY easy to curate. You only have to see things from blogs you follow or tags you follow. You can block out specific words or tags if you want so that even if you get asks, you won't get some with certain words in it. Or you won't see posts with certain words or tags in it. Whereas on Twitter, even if you curate your timeline very well, it's still super easy to stumble across alot of drama and hate. Now, I mostly only find that on tumblr if I go looking for it, if it gets sent to me in DMs or a troll shows up in my ask box. And I haven't even blocked any tags, just a few accounts here. I will say, for anyone new from twt, enjoy learning tumblr. I've been here for a while, have only been blogging for little over a year though, but I still don't always know or understand what I'm doing or how it works. Lol good luck!

I hope this is ok to ask but I'm in the US and the ability to get top surgery is just seeming so far away or even impossible. My parents are sort of supportive? Like they're not openly against it but I think they're kind of hoping I'll change my mind but even if they were fully supportive, it's just so expensive and I don't even have a job. Do you have any advice for how disheartening that can be :/

I'm so sorry, that's really rough 💙

If I can offer maybe some material advice, my experience with top surgery has definitely taught me:

Look into state health insurance and the laws around gender-affirming care. Washington state in particular provides full coverage of gender-affirming care on state health insurance, top surgery included- not sure what other state laws are, but it's worth researching and likely straight-up calling them to ask about.

After the surgery- regardless of what the amount left to pay is- look into your hospital's financial aid options. Check their patient portal, call them, whatever you need to do- and if they turn you down, ask them why and keep re-applying. I was able to get my $600 copay down to $0 for top surgery; and I had a $580 co-pay for my elbow surgery before that, which so far has taken three different applications- and counting- entirely because they're being difficult about the paperwork. Be a pain in the ass!

Prioritize yourself. My family definitely wanted me to wait to get top surgery, but ultimately, I am an adult and it's my body. I knew what I wanted, I was done waiting, and that was more important to me than their desire for me to wait. They processed and got over it eventually, and I was lucky enough that they mostly felt it would be "impolite" to criticize my surgery in the aftermath.

And in the meantime, focus on what you can control! Things like how you look, how you interact with your body, how others address you, who you surround yourself with- even creating some timelines and goals can be massively helpful.

Maybe you can start getting a doctor's letter and a referral, researching surgeons, etc. while you wait on other stuff to fall into place- it might take a while, but feeling like you're making progress can still really help, I think. And it'll definitely make your life easier down the line; maybe even speed up the process when you work out insurance/payment/etc.!

Not trying to debunk any masterposts, but for me they are just speculation. I've been here since late 2014 and I've never seen any "proof" except strangers on tumblr saying they have "sources". which basically anyone could say... I believe in the girls but it is and will be just believing, because even though I keep asking none of the fellow kaylors is willing to share any proof. So please...Share with us!(Sending this on anon because it'll be reblogged and I'll be called blind or homophobic 😂)

Listen, if that’s what you wanna believe, you do you.. No one is going to call you homophobic but you have to realize that if you don’t find photos and the linking of timelines and known pr strategies as “real proof” I don’t know what more to tell you… People are not prepared to divulge their trusted information to you just based on you not being secure enough in your beliefs… I know that I personally am not really here to convince you fully that Kaylor is real/ Tay is not straight, I am just here to share the info that I am willing to share, to engage in discourse and discussion with people (believers and antis alike) and maybe help convince the open-minded people who stumble across here. If you are not convinced by the multi-page masterposts, then nothing short of the girls facetiming you and professing their love for eachother will convince you.. I know you may not get it, but the people who are lucky enough to have information beyond what is readily available online may not be willing to share it with every anon that stumbles along as there are real lives behind this info and perhaps you have not built the trust necessary for that openness.
