i am indifferent to mcr and related content on here but i simply adore how devoted their fans are, well, in general really, but specifically to these musicians' old livejournal accounts. i was huge on lj bc i am old and these mcr fans are still out here posting entries from 2006 just bc they're interesting or relatable or revealing of the author's preferences. like if i were forced to be famous (god forbid) i would want fans like that. who track down my ancient public lj and are so affected by it that they come here to upload screenshots of an incomprehensible personal post i made about suffering rage-induced headaches while in my sylvia plath era on a tuesday morning at age 19 using the office computers at my shitty temp job while listening to sunny day real estate complete with my edgy requiem for a dream userpic and some poetic word salad i entered in the "mood" textbox that day and then tag it with #she knew everything or use it as a source to support their fucking internet essay about bands i found lyrically influential in my youth. those fans are the realest. and shout out to livejournal for remaining untransformed through the ages in order to make this possible. long live lj and mcr fans too i hope y'all never change rock on.
#personal#i still use lj for real i have like three active accounts#one is a very organized wishlist ive had forever but my mom still uses it to buy me presents so i keep it updated#i still post the occassional very important thing on my original account there#screaming into the void and all you know i'll be doing it until i die#mcr#livejournal#text

Btw guys I did some digging on how to back up your blog, here's the deets:
If you have Xkit (which you should, it's a life saver!!) They have an option called Mirror Posts:
Turning this on means when you click the three dots at the top right of a post you've made you get this option:
Clicking to mirror the post gives you this:
Choosing WayBackMachine offers this page:
So you just click save and the waybackmachine then captures a screencap of your post and saves it. If you don't have an account then so long as you have the url for the post you'll always be able to find it there (or you can just put in the url to your tumblr but finding specific posts becomes more difficult then).
However if you DO have a waybackmachine account it'll store all of your saved posts into the account and you can access them there.
Choosing archivetoday gives you this:
There's a button at the top that says 'all snapshots from host apoptoses.tumblr.com' and you can then download them as a zip.
SO. This is a couple ways you can back up your original posts should something awful happen and your blog get terminated.
But I really, really encourage writers and artist to make a multi-chapter post on ao3 where they can dump all their short fics and quick sketches- truly no post is too small or too 'rough' to not save, because for someone out there that is their favorite fic or art of all time! And you deserve to have a portfolio of your hard work!
Back up your stuff, don't let us continue to live in a digital dark age where great posts get lost forever due to websites collapsing or making garbage choices â„
#i survived the lj strikethrough lmao this is SO IMPORTANT TO ME#all of your creative works and memories just disappear when a site goes down and you can never get them back!!#and that's so sad!!!#archive your stuff so it's out there somewhere else and you can repost it in new places#archive your fave posts by other creators so you don't lose them if that person gets deleted!!#save our digital works!!!!#apoptoses originals#fandom stuff

#this is what we want this is what we want this is what we want #we WANT Tumblr to cater to us and not advertisers #we WANT them to ask US about new features and design them to be useful TO US #this is why people should pay for what they can here #so that Tumblr is beholden to its users instead of its advertisers #so that it designs things around us instead of slopping stuff upon us designed to sell us to advertisers #now go forth and have opinions #sign up for the beta #it's opt in this time!!! they're asking who wants to opt in and give opinions!! #I know y'all have got them
Another idea: Communities on Tumblr
For a while now folks have asked us for better ways to connect with other people who share similar interests. Weâre listening, and at Labs weâve been looking into fulfilling that need, Tumblr style.
Introducing Communities, a new place to connect with others on Tumblr:
Here in Labs, weâre working on big ideas that could transform how Tumblr is used, while keeping that Tumblr vibe alive. You can see one of those ideas above. Weâre calling it âCommunitiesâ, a new dedicated space on Tumblr for people to share and discuss all the content they love. Communities can cover topics like your favorite show, artist, movie, video game, your school, your board game group, friend group, big or small, whatever you want.
Each Community has their own semi-private safer space away from the regular dashboard where you can interact with other Tumblr users who share the same interests and passions as you. There are moderators and members (you!), rules, and privacy settings. Each community has its own feed of posts from members, separate from your Following and For You feeds. Interactions within community spaces stay there and replies will work more like a traditional comment section. Folks will be able to reblog posts into a community, but not out â at least not yet.
Weâre very excited for you to try it, and help define the best path forward. What we have is a prototype to help us validate the idea, but thereâs still plenty of questions that need answering. Over the next couple of weeks, weâll be reaching out to people across Tumblr, and the internet at large, to try our prototype. Based on the feedback we get, weâll iterate on the idea to see what resonates best with all of you on Tumblr.
If this sounds interesting, please like, reblog, or reply to this post, and weâll invite you to beta test this feature when we roll it out to a wider Tumblr audience, as a little perk for following the Labs blog.
Stay tuned for more!
#this looks so awesome for everything stated above#it's basically a mix of lj communities and reddit and discord and tumblr on tumblr and so much of what we've been missing#âon tumblrâ is the important point there. i don't want to go back to lj and i never could get used to pillowfort#i only wish we'd had this 10 years ago instead of just now#but anyway please check it out so tumblr know it's wanted and so you can help make it what you want#tumblr communities#tumblr labs#tumblr#queue and me we're in this together now

Fandom can do a little gatekeeping. As a treat.
So I finally decided to archive-lock my fics on AO3 last night. Iâve been considering it since the AI scrape last year, but the tipping point was this whole lore.fm debacle, coupled with some thoughts Iâve been thinking regarding Fandom These Days in general and Fandom As A Community in particular. So I wanna explain why I waited so long, why I locked my stuff up now, and why Iâve come to the conclusion that Iâm a-okay with making it harder for people to see my stories.
Lurkers really are great, tho
Iâm a chronic lurker, and have been since I started hanging out on the internet as a teen in the 00s. These days itâs just cuz I donât feel a need to socialize very often, but back then it was because I was shy and knew I was socially awkward. Even if I made an account, Iâd spend months lurking on message boards or forums or Livejournals, watching other people interact and getting a feel for that particular communityâs culture and etiquette before I finally started interacting myself. And yâknow, that approach saved me a lot of embarrassment. Over the course of my lurking on any site, there was always some other person whoâd clearly joined up five minutes after learning the place existed, barged in without a care for their behavior, and committed so many social faux pas that all the other users were immediately annoyed with them at best. I learned a lot observing those incidents. Lurk More is Rule 33 of the internet for very good reason.
Lurking isnât bad or weird or creepy. Itâs perfectly normal. I love lurking. Itâs hard for me to not lurk - socializing takes a lot of energy out of me, even via text. (Heck it took 12 hours for me to write this post, I wish I was kidding--) Occasionally Iâll manage longer bouts of interaction - a few weeks posting here, almost a year chatting in a discord there - but Iâm always gonna end up going radio silent for months at some point. I used to feel bad about it, but Iâve long since made peace with the fact that itâs just the way my brain works. Iâm a chronic lurker, and in the long term nothing is going to change that.
The thing with being a chronic lurker is that you have to accept that you are not actually seen as part of the community you are lurking in. Thatâs not to say that lurkers are unimportant - lurkers actually are important, and they make up a large proportion of any online community - but itâs simple cause and effect. You may think of it as âyour communityâ, but if youâve never said a word, how is the community supposed to know you exist? If I lurked on someoneâs LJ, and then that person suddenly friendslocked their blog, I knew that I had two choices: Either accept that I would never be able to read their posts again, or reach out to them and ask if I could be added to their friends list with the full understanding that I was a rando they might not decide to trust. I usually went with the first option, because my invisibility as a lurker was more important to me than talking to strangers on the internet.
Lurking is like sitting on a park bench, quietly people-watching and eavesdropping on the conversations other people are having around you. Youâre in the park, but youâre not actively participating in anything happening there. You can see and hear things that you become very interested in! But if you donât introduce yourself and become part of the conversation, you wonât be able to keep listening to it when those people walk away. When fandom migrated away from Livejournal, people moved to new platforms alongside their friends, but lurkers were often left behind. No one knew they existed, so they werenât told where everyone else was going. To be seen as part of a fandom community, you need to submit to the mortifying ordeal of being known, etc. etc.
Thereâs nothing wrong with lurking. There can actually be benefits to lurking, both for the lurkers and the communities they lurk in. Itâs just another way to be in a fandom. But if that is how you exist in fandom--and remember, I say this as someone who often does exist that way in fandom--you need to remember that youâre on the outside looking in, and the curtains can always close.
Iâve always been super sympathetic to lurkers, because I am one. I know thereâs a lot of people like me who just donât socialize often. I know thereâs plenty of reasons why someone might not make an account on the internet - maybe theyâre nervous, maybe theyâre young and their parents donât allow them to, maybe theyâre in a bad situation where someone is monitoring their activity, maybe they can only access the internet from public computer terminals. Heck, Iâve never even logged into AO3 on my phone--if Iâm away from my computer I just read whatâs publicly available.Â
I know I have people lurking on my fics. I know my fics probably mean a lot to someone I donât even know exists. I know this because there are plenty of fics I love whose writers donât know I exist.
I love my commenters personally; I love my lurkers as an abstract concept. I know theyâre there and I wish them well, and if they ever de-lurk I love them all the more.
So up until last year I never considered archive-locking my fic, because I get it. The AI scraping was upsetting, but I still hesitated because I was thinking of lurkers and guests and remembering what it felt like to be 15 and wondering if itâd be worth letting a stranger on the internet know I existed and asking to be added to their friends list just so I could reread a funny post they made once.
But the internet has changed a lot since the 00s, and fandom has changed with it. Iâve read some things and been doing some thinking about fandom-as-community over the last few years, and reading through the lore.fm drama made me decide that itâs time for me to set some boundaries.
I still love my lurkers, and I feel bad about leaving any guest commenters behind, especially if theyâre in a situation where they canât make an account for some reason. But from here on out, even my lurkers are going to have to do the bare minimum to read my fics--make an AO3 account.
Should we gatekeep fandom?
Iâve seen a few people ask this question, usually rhetorically, sometimes as a joke, always with a bit of seriousness. And I thinkâŠyeah, maybe we should. Except wait, no, not like that--
A decade ago, when people talked about fandom gatekeeping and why it was bad to do, it intersected with a lot of other things, mainly feminism and classism. The prevalent image of fandom gatekeeping was, like, a man learning that a woman likes Star Wars and haughtily demanding, âOh, yeah? Well if youâre REALLY a fan, name ten EU novelsâ to belittle and dismiss her, expecting that a âreal fanâ would have the money and time to be familiar with the EU, and ignoring the fact that male movie-only fans were still considered fans. The thing being gatekept was the very definition of âbeing a fanâ and peopleâs right to describe themselves as one.
Thatâs not what I mean when I say maybe fandom should gatekeep more. Anyone can call themselves a fan if they like something, thatâs fine. But when it comes to the ability to enjoy the fanworks produced by the fandom communityâŠthat might be something worth gatekeeping.
See, back in the 00s, it was perfectly common for people to justâŠnot go on the internet. Surfing the web was a thing, but it was just, like, a fun pastime. Not everyone did it. It wasnât until the rise of social media that going online became a thing everyone and their grandmother did every day. Back then, going on the internet was justâŠa hobby.
So one of the first gates online fandom ever had was the simple fact that the entire world wasnât here yet.
The entire world is here now. That gate has been demolished.
And itâs a lot easier to find us now. Even scattered across platforms, fandom is so centralized these days. It isnât a network of dedicated webshrines and forums that you can only find via webrings anymore, itâs right there on all the big social media sites. AO3 didnât set out to be the main fanfic website, but thatâs definitely what itâs become. Itâs easy for people to find us--and that includes people who donât care about the community, and just want âcontent.â
Transformative fandom doesnât like it when people see our fanworks as âcontentâ. âContentâ is a pretty broad term, but when fandom uses it weâre usually referring to creative works that are churned out by content creators to be consumed by an audience as quickly as possible as often as possible so that the content creator can generate revenue. This not-so-new normal has caused a massive shift in how people who are new to fandom view fanworks--instead of seeing fic or art as something a fellow fan made and shared with you, they see fanworks as products to be consumed.
Transformative fandom has, in general, always been a gift economy. We put time and effort into creating fanworks that we share with our fellow fans for free. We do this so we donât get sued, but fandom as a whole actually gets a lot out of the gift economy. Offer your community a story, and in return you can get comments, build friendships, or inspire other people to write things that you might want to read. Readers are given the gift of free stories to read and enjoy, and while lurking is fine, they have the choice to engage with the writer and other readers by leaving comments or making reclists to help build the community.
And look, donât get me wrong. People have never engaged with fanfic as much as fan writers wish they would. There has always been âno one comments anymoreâ wank. There have always been people who only comment to say âMORE!â or otherwise demand or guilt trip writers into posting the next chapter. But fandom has always agreed that those commenters are rude and annoying, and as those commenters navigate fandom they have the chance to learn proper community etiquette.
However, now it seems that a lot of the people who are consuming fanworks arenât actually in the community.Â
I wonât say âthey arenât real fansâ because thatâs silly; thereâs lots of ways to be a fan. But there seem to be a lot of fans now who have no interest in fandom as a community, or in adhering to community etiquette, or in respecting the gift economy. They consume our fics, but they donât appreciate fan labor. They want our âcontentâ, but they donât respect our control over our creations.
And even worse--they see us as a resource. We share our work for free, as a gift, but all they see is an open-source content farm waiting to be tapped into. We shared it for free, so clearly they can do whatever they want with it. Why should we care if they feed our work into AI training datasets, or copy/paste our unfinished stories into ChatGPT to get an ending, or charge people for an unnecessary third-party AO3 app, or sell fanbindings on etsy for a profit without the authorâs permission, or turn our stories into poor imitations of podfics to be posted on other platforms without giving us credit or asking our consent, while also using it to lure in people they can datascrape for their Forbes 30 Under 30 company?Â
And sure, people have been doing shady things with other peopleâs fanworks since forever. Art theft and reposting has always been a big problem. Fanfic is harder to flat-out repost, but Iâve heard of unauthorized fic translations getting posted without crediting the original author. Once inâŠI think the 2010s? I read a post by a woman who had gone to some sort of local bookselling event, only to find that the man selling âhisâ novel had actually self-published her fanfic. (Wish I could find that one again, I donât even remember where I read it.)
But aside from that third example, the thing isâŠas awful as fanart/writing theft is, back in the day, the main thing a thief would gain from it was clout. Clout that should rightfully go to the creators who gifted their work in the first place, yeah, but still. Just clout. People will do a lot of hurtful things for clout, but fandom clout means nothing outside of fandom. Fandom clout is not enough to incentivize the sort of wide-scale pillaging weâre seeing from community outsiders today.
Money, on the other hand⊠Well, fandomâs just a giant, untapped content farm, isnât it? Think of how much revenue all that content could generate.
Lurkers are a normal and even beneficial part of any online community. Maybe one day theyâll de-lurk and easily slide into place beside their fellow fans because they already know the etiquette. Maybe theyâre active in another community, and they can spread information from the community they lurk in to the community theyâre active in. At the very least, they silently observe, and even if theyâre not active community members, they understand the community.
Fans who see fanworks as âcontentâ donât belong in the same category as lurkers. Theyâre tourists.Â
While reading through the initial Reddit thread on the lore.fm situation, I found this comment:
[ID: Reddit User Cabbitowo says: ... So in anime fandoms we have a word called tourist and essentially it means a fan of a few anime and doesn't care about anime tropes and actively criticizes them. This is kind of how fandoms on tiktok feel. They're touring fanfics and fanart and actively criticizes tropes that have been in the fandom since the 60s. They want to be in a fandom but they don't want to engage in fandomÂ
OP totallymandy responds: Just entered back into Reddit after a long day to see this most recent reply. And as a fellow anime fan this making me laugh so much since itâs true! But it sorta hurts too when the reality sets in. Modern fandom is so entitled and bratty and youâd think itâs the minors only but thatâs not even true, my age-mates and older seem to be like that. They want to eat their cake and complain all whilst bringing nothing to the potluck⊠:/ END ID]
-
âTouristâ is an apt name for this sort of fan. They donât want to be part of our community, and they donât have to be in order to come into our spaces and consume our work. Even if they donât steal our work themselves, they feel so entitled to it that theyâre fine with ignoring our wishes and letting other people take it to make AI âpodficsâ for them to listen to (there are a lot of comments on lore.fmâs shutdown announcement video from people telling them to just ignore the writers and do it anyway). Theyâll use AI to generate an ending to an unfinished fic because they donât care about seeing âthe ending this writer would have given to the story they were tellingâ, they just want âan endingâ. For these tourist fans, the ends justify the means, and their end goal is content for them to consume, with no care for the community that created it for them in the first place.
I donât think this is confined to a specific age group. This isnât â13-year-olds on Wattpadâ or âZoomers on TikTokâ or whatever pointless generation war weâre in now. This is coming from people who are new to fandom, whose main experience with creative works on the internet is this new content culture and who donât understand fandom as a community. That description can be true of someone from any age group.
Itâs so easy to find fandom these days. It is, in fact, too easy. Newcomers face no hurdles or challenges that would encourage them to lurk and observe a bit before engaging, and itâs easy for people who would otherwise move on and leave us alone to start making trouble. From tourist fans to content entrepreneurs to random people who just want to gawk, itâs so easy for people who donât care about the fandom community to reap all of its fruits.Â
So when I say maybe fandom should start gatekeeping a bit, Iâm referring to the fact that we barely even have a gate anymore. Everyone is on the internet now; the entire world can find us, and they donât need to bother learning community etiquette when they do. Before, we were protected by the fact that fandom was considered weird and most people didnât look at it twice. Now, fandom is pretty mainstream. People who never wouldâve bothered with it before are now comfortable strolling in like they own the place. They have no regard for the fandom community, they donât understand it, and they donât want to. They want to treat it just like the rest of the content they consume online.
And then theyâre surprised when those of us who understand fandom culture get upset. Fanworks have existed far longer than the algorithmic internetâs content. Fanworks existed long before the internet. Weâve lived like this for ages and we like it.
So if someone canât be bothered to respect fandom as a community, I donât see why I should give them easy access to my fics.
Think of it like a garden gate
When I interact with commenters on my fic, I have this sense of hospitality.
The comment section is my front porch. The fic is my garden. I created my garden because I really wanted to, and Iâm proud of it, and Iâm happy to share it with other people.Â
Lots of people enjoy looking at my garden. Many walk through without saying anything. Some stop to leave kudos. Some recommend my garden to their friends. And some people take the time to stop by my front porch and let me know what a beautiful garden it is and how much theyâve enjoyed it.Â
Any fic writer can tell you that getting comments is an incredible feeling. I always try to answer all my comments. I donât always manage it, but my ficsâ comment sections are the one place that I manage to consistently socialize in fandom. When I respond to a comment, it feels like Iâm pouring out a glass of lemonade to share with this lovely commenter on my front porch, a thank you for their thank you. We take a moment to admire my garden together, and then I see them out. The next time they drop by, I recognize them and am happy to pour another glass of lemonade.
My garden has always been open and easy to access. No fences, no walls. You just have to know where to find it. Fandom in general was once protected by its own obscurity, an out-of-the-way town that showed up on maps but was usually ignored.
But now thereâs a highway that makes it easy to get to, and we have all these out-of-towner tourists coming in to gawk and steal our lawn ornaments and wonder if they can use the place to make themselves some money.
I donât care to have those types trampling over my garden and eating all my vegetables and digging up my flowers to repot and sell, so Iâve put up a wall. It has a gate that visitors can get through if they just take the time to open it.
Admittedly, itâs a small obstacle. But when I share my fics, I share them as a gift with my fellow fans, the ones who understand that fandom is a community, even if theyâre lurkers. As for tourist fans and entrepreneurs who see fic as content, who have no qualms ignoring the writerâs wishes, who refuse to respect or understand the fandom communityâŠwell, theyâre not the people I mean to share my fic with, so I have no issues locking them out. If they want access to my stories, theyâll have to do the bare minimum to become a community member and join the AO3 invite queue.
And yâknow, Iâve said a lot about fandom and community here, and I just want to say, I hope itâs not intimidating. When I was younger, talk about The Fandom Community made me feel insecure, and I didnât think Iâd ever manage to be active enough in fandom spaces to be counted as A Member Of The Community. But you donât have to be a social butterfly to participate in fandom. Iâll always and forever be a chronic lurker, I reblog more than I post, I rarely manage to comment on fic, and I go radio silent for months at a time--but I write and post fanfiction. Thatâs my contribution.
Do you write, draw, vid, gif, or otherwise create? Congrats, you're a community member.
Do you leave comments? Congrats, you're a community member.
Do you curate reclists? Congrats, you're a community member.
Do you maintain a fandom blog or fuckyeah blog? Congrats, you're a community member.
Do you provide a space for other fans to convene in? Congrats, you're a community member.
Do you regularly send asks (off anon so people know who you are)? Congrats, you're a community member.
Do you have fandom friends who you interact with? Congrats, you're a community member.
Thereâs lots of ways to be a fan. Just make sure to respect and appreciate your fellow fans and the work they put in for you to enjoy and the gift economy fandom culture that keeps this community going.

In about 2004, I saw my first ever fanvid. It was in an X-Files LJ community and it was an MSR vid set to 'She Will Be Loved'
It was what got me into vidding. And for TWENTY YEARS every time I heard that song, I thought of that MSR vid. I even spent years trying to dig through LJ and doing a million google searches, desperately trying to find it again. But no luck.
It's such an important fandom moment for me, my partner has heard me wax poetic about it on multiple occasions.
Three days ago, I was in my back up hard drive (which has all of my computer files from 2003-present!) and I FOUND THE VIDEO!!!!! Apparently, I had downloaded it back then! It's so old it's a .ram file.
I FINALLY got to show my partner and it was such a delight. The ending even had credits of the fan who made it, including their website from 2004. I knew it was a long shot but I went there and that lead me to an email, so I reached out and told them 'Hey, this video you made 20 years ago still lives in my head forever and I love it'
And today -- THEY WROTE BACK đ„čđđ„°They were tickled to hear I love that video so much and told me where to find it on YouTube. So now, I can finally share my favourite MSR video with tumblr:

Please go check out this person's YouTube for even more great MSR vids!

I DO get sad if a writer doesn't reply to my comment, especially if it's a long one, but I'm pretty forgetful, so it only really persists for a week or two, until I get my hands on a new fic to obssess over...
(Assuming that the reply is kind)
(Sorry to be that guy, but please reblog if you vote!)
#personally i really miss the lj/dw days when you could get into whole conversations with the author and even other people#that's how i made multiple friends#so yeah i prefer it when authors reply to my comments#đ previous tags#i agree i agree#as for me i used to reply to every reply i got and i made a mess of other ppl's comment sections#so nowadays i only comment once and wait for a reply and i don't really reply it anymore#unless i have a really important thing to say or reply or compliment#but i comment on almost every chapter i read (i only do not comment when i've got nothing to say or compliment)#so writers have got a nice little cheerleader spamming in me

Progress Checkup! (Aug. 2024) | Scratchin' Melodii Devlog
Hello again, strangers! I thought it was about time to add another devlog again! This time I'm trying out a more in-depth approach to this, to somewhat make up for the lack of gameplay previews. Let me know what you think!
For starters, I've revamped the rhythm system đ€Ż (like... again! đ€Ż) Don't freak out, though. Surface level gameplay-wise, it works mostly the same as it did in the last demo, so you won't have to re-learn much. I just needed to redo some things so it'd be easier for me to work with in the long-run while developing the rest of the game. Way less headaches await me now when working on new levels. In the process, I was also able to incorporate some neat new aspects to it and make the core aspects of it better. If you're familiar with older rhythm games, it's now a tad closer to what the dog was doing.
The opponent's icon has been covered up to avoid spoilers. I might be updating all of the character icons soon, actually.
I still plan to revamp the game's tutorial at some point. Something I've noticed is that often, new players don't seem to understand the purpose of the beat dots. Initially, I thought the idea that "on the beat dot = on beat" would come as second nature to new players without need for explanation. However, I hadn't considered that many players are likely to be more familiar with rhythm games that don't even have beat dots in this manner, so they're probably inclined to focus more on getting as close as possible to matching the order of the suggested inputs, and in this game, even at the cost of being off-beat if they aren't keeping up. So, I think the most important thing I need to emphasize when I give a new in-game explanation of the mechanics is the beat dots and really getting new players into the mindset of prioritizing the tempo. I think I should also have the tutorial's gameplay portion try to discretely get the player used to the control scheme to help people who haven't particularly memorized where all of their controller's buttons are without looking. This'll probably result in the tutorial song shown in the demo being replaced in the full game. I do still like its instrumental though, so maybe that will be repurposed for another game feature, at least.
There's probably some guy out there who just REALLY loves Astral Advisory as the tutorial song that will be very upset to hear this. In solidarity with them, I've depicted their enthusiasm with this rather silly image I've created.
As for other levels, now that I've got the updated rhythm system up and running, the 3rd rival battle of act 2 is almost complete. If you didn't like the Pow-Notes in Supastar Tennis, you might not like me very much after this! So far, I think this level has some of the best and most ambitious animation work I've done yet, so I hope you'll look forward to it. Not sure when I'll show a gameplay preview of this level, but I probably will at some point.
Also, I've made a new logo for the game! I'll gradually be phasing this one in to replace the old one, but until the full game releases you'll probably still see the old one hanging around too in some places.
That's all I can talk about for now, but thanks for reading! - LJ

Food Poisoning
A/N: I've read a few days ago that our one and only Lucy Bronze played with food poisoning in the 2015 world cup quarter finals... I haven't been able to stop thinking about it, and @helen-with-an-a and I have been talking this through for a good while, haha. I mean, Lucy is basically super human at this point, but I still had to rewrite it. It takes place at the semi-finals of the last World Cup and I'm really putting Sarina on the spot here and making her a bit of the bad guy... I just want to clarify that I don't have anything against her. I just needed a bad guy and she happened to be there. Also you're in for a long one, we're talking almost 7k... my longest one yet. I hope you like it though and thanks again for the help @helen-with-an-a đ
w/c: almost 7k
Warnings: Throwing up, pain, a bit of Angst and arguments
It is the world cup and you won the quarter finals. Tomorrow is the big day. The semi finals. It's not your first world cup but you're still a bit anxious. You want to win this. You want this not only for the team but especially for Lucy. She finally deserves the world cup title.
Tomorrow however were the semifinals and they were at least just as important if not more than the final itself.
Lucy and you have been dating for a while and it's openly known in the team but that also means during tournaments you usually get diffrent roommates. Which neither of you mind since you're there to play football not to share a room. You're currently sharing a room with Leah and you love it. You two get along so well.
As you wake up that morning the nerves in your belly are already building. You're an early bird so you're getting up before Leah and take your time in the bathroom. You're also always the first to text your girlfriend good morning.
Today however instead if receiving a good morning back LJ, Lucy's roomie, texted you if you're awake already. You immediately text back, wondering why she's texting you this early but with the next message you understood why.
'I don't know what's wrong but Lucy is not feeling great. She didn't want me to text you but I think you'd want to know and come check on her' - LJ texts
'I'll be right there' - you immediately text back and grab your stuff before jogging over to their room. LJ lets you in and you ask "What's wrong?" However Lauren doesn't even have to answer as you hear Lucy throwing up in the bathroom. You quickly throw your things on the bed before making your way into the bathroom.
"Shh, it's okay. I got you, love", you say as you gather her hair that fell out of the bun and start to rub her back. She just retches again before she coughs and says "I told LJ not to text you." "Yeah well, I'm glad she did. Are you done?", you ask softly and she just nods. You help her up and guide her to the sink as you flush the toilet.
Looking at your girlfriend, you can tell she is still feeling like utter shit. "Shh deep breath, what's wrong Baby?", you say as you slip your hand under her shirt and rub her back slightly. She feels a bit sweaty but you put that off on the throwing up.
"I don't know, I'll be okay. I just need a second", Lucy says trying to convince herself she's fine. You hand her some water and she drinks a few sips before the both of you make your way back into her room.
"You okay, Bronzey?", Lauren asks softly and Lucy just nods but Lauren can see in your eyes that you're worried. Lucy quickly gets dressed before all three of you make your way to breakfast. You can see that your girlfriend is still nauseous and you honestly don't know what she wants at breakfast but if there's one thing, it's that Lucy has her own mind.
In the elevator you rub over her back slightly and she gives you a weak smile, trying to act like she's fine. Before you get in to the dining hall you pull her aside a bit and ask again "Baby, I can see you're not okay. Are you sure you want to get breakfast? We can go lay down again for a bit if you like." Your eyes betray how worried you are but Lucy just shakes her head and smiles softly before saying "I'm okay, we need the fuel for the game this afternoon."
You just sigh but know better than to fight with her right now. Maybe she'll feel better after breakfast. You have until lunch to rest and do some more recovery. Maybe Lucy will feel fine again in a few hours.
You can hope right? You sit with her at breakfast and your eyes are constantly on her as she slowly eats her food. You can tell it's getting harder for her to swallow with every bite. "Don't force it, Babe", you say softly as you rub her thigh but she just answers "I need the energy for later."
You just watch her worriedly and Leah and Keira, who are sitting at the table with you share a concerned look too. Lucy's free hand rests on her lap, holding her stomach as she forces herself to take another bite.
You can see Lucy starting to get really nauseous again as her chewing slows down. She's just desperately trying to swallow but you're scared she's about to blow again. Her breaths are deep but a bit to fast for your liking. However you're not saying anything as she tries her hardest to battle her stomach silently.
Before you know it she gets up and quickly makes her way to the bathroom with you right behind her. She barely makes it to the toilet before she throws up her breakfast and even a bit more. "Shh it's okay, Luce. I'm here", you say soothingly as she gathers her bearings, seeming to be done for now.
You grab some toilet paper and rub her mouth gently as she takes a few deep breaths. Getting up she walks to the sink before holding on to the the counter and grabbing her stomach slightly. You flush the toilet and walk up to her, resting a hand on her back gently before you carefully lay your hand on her belly. Stroking it gently with your thumb you feel her abs clench as her stomach cramps.
"Oh Babe, you're really not looking too hot", you say softly and press a kiss to her temple. "I'm okay", she just says and gets herself back together. "Luce, that was the second time you threw up. You're not okay", you say gently but she just looks at you seriously and says again with a bit more force "I'm okay."
You just sigh as she freshens up for a second and you both make your way back to breakfast. She sits back down and continues to eat as you just watch her concerned. "You okay, Bronzey?", Leah asks and Lucy just nods, the look in her eyes telling Leah to let it go. After breakfast you quickly talk to Leah and LJ that you'll spend time until lunch with Lucy, just to be there if something is wrong and they just nod. LJ telling you that she'll stay out of the room to give you two some privacy, eventhough that's not what you asked for.
As you knock on their door LJ opens it before grabbing her stuff and saying quietly to you "Make sure she's okay." You just nod and thank her before walking fully into the room. Lucy sitting on the bed with her iPad rewatching the last Australia game to prepare some more for the game this afternoon.
"Didn't you want to roll out your muscles?", Lucy asks confused as she sees you standing in the room. "I can do that while I keep an eye on you", you say, lifting up your blackroll. "Y/n/n, I'm fine", she tries but you immediately say "Lucy, save that for someone else. I can tell you're not. You're pale as a sheet of paper and I can tell you're in pain."
She just looks up at you as you pause the game and put her iPad aside, sitting down next to her. "Be honest with me", you say softly as you rest a hand on her back and one on her hand on her stomach, which she was still holding tightly.
She's silent for a few moments as she sorts her thoughts. She grimaces slightly as her stomach cramps and closes her eyes for a second, the fact that you saw that let's you know that's he's willing to let you in, at least a bit for now. You gently rub her hand with your thumb and ask "Why don't you lie down and rest a bit?"
She immediately shakes her head and says "I'll get sick again if I lay down." Your heart breaks at that. Its been a while since you've seen her physically so unwell. You slide a bit closer and say "Lean against me then." She does without much hesitation as you start rubbing her back. You can tell that she has been getting increasingly more nauseous since you first stepped into the room. "Shh deep breaths, you'll be okay", you say softly as you kiss her head.
She lasts about five minutes before she peels out of your arms and jogs to the bathroom once again. Finding yourself holding her hair back and rubbing her back again, you sigh softly. Why today?
"Oh love, what's wrong with your stomach? You think it's a bug?", you ask softly once she calms down a bit. She just shrugs as she rests her head on her arm, still unbelievably nauseous. Coughing a bit she gags again harshly. You get up and drench a cloth in cold water before coming back and resting it on her neck.
She slowly calms down a bit more and takes a few deep breaths. "Shh, good job, love, you're doing so good", you say softly as she leans back into you a bit. "This doesn't seem like a bug", she mumbles and you know what she means. You've seen her with a stomach bug, but she has never thrown up so much.
You grab the cloth and gently wipe her face as you say "Maybe it was something you ate?" She just shrugs as she tries to relax into you a bit. "Why today? How am I supposed to play my best like this?", she asks and you frown before you say "Babe, you're not playing like this." She turns around and looks at you as she says serious "I am playing, this is not up for debate."
You decide to not argue with her right now so you just sigh and ask "Are you done for now love?" She just nods and you help her up and to the sink where she freshens up.
She sits down on the bed and you hand her some water and electrolytes. That's one thing you never have to worry about, thankfully, she'll always drink, even if it comes right back up. She sips on the drinks as she grabs her iPad again and continues watching the game.
You can't help but sigh at that. You know how stubborn your girlfriend can be. You walk over to her and press a kiss to her head before deciding to roll out your muscles. There is no way for you to stop Lucy in watching that game. Might as well do your own recovery so you're ready for this afternoon.
"Will you please at least lean against the headboard, honey?", you ask as you move to the floor with your roll. She looks at you before complying hestiantly. "Thank you", you say and take off your hoodie, leaving you in a sports crop top because doing this in a normal shirt gave you the ick.
You focus on your own recovery and roll out your tense muscles while every once in a while looking at Lucy. And more than not you find her looking back at you. "I thought you wanted to watch the game?", you tease gently trying to not worry so much and keep the tone light. "Looking at the screen makes me dizzy", Lucy admits and you just frown.
"I really don't think you should play", you say as you keep rolling out your muscles and Lucy just warns "Y/N." "I'm just saying", you say again and focus on your recovery. Lucy turns off her iPad and keeps watching you as you do your recovery.
Every once in a while she sips on her drinks but you can tell she's feeling pretty crappy. Once you're done you, you get up and sit back down next to her. She just looks at you and you sigh softly before taking her in her your arms.
"I'm sorry you're not feeling well", you mumble and kiss her head. You can feel that she's slightly warm. She doesn't say anything but you can tell she's about to throw up again. "You want me to get you a bucket or bathroom?", you ask softly but she just gets up and runs back to the bathroom.
Sighing again you get up and follow her once more. Lucy is coughing and gagging harshly again as she throws up the water and whatever is left from her breakfast. "Oh Baby", you say softly as she rests her head on her arm and catches her breath. It's this moment where the cramps are really settling in. She grabs her stomach and retches again before spitting into the toilet once more and flushing.
You rub her back and ask softly "Done?" She just nods and you help her freshen up and back in bed. "Are you sure you don't want to try to nap, love?", you ask gently but she just shakes her head as she curls up because of the cramps. You gently pull her into your arms and rest your hand on her belly. "May I?", you question and she nods hesitantly.
You had about half an hour before lunch, so you spend the time rubbing your girlfriend's belly, trying to make her feel a bit better somehow. Eventhough she relaxes a bit Lucy's cramps don't really get any better.
As it's lunch time Lucy is adamant to join you, and you just let her even if you want nothing more than have her lay down. LJ and Leah look at Lucy worried, she looks like crap but she still sits down and eats with them.
"Lucy, you really should lay down and try to get some rest. Playing is not a good idea", Leah says and Lucy just answers "Thats not for you to decide." Leah wants to argue but you just shake her head. Lucy is not in her right mind.
You don't have much time after lunch before you're meeting at the bus to drive to the arena, so you quickly escorting Lucy back to her room, followed by LJ. She barely makes it there before she throws up her lunch again. She's shaking slightly.
"Alright that's it. You're staying here", you say but Lucy answers with her head still over the toilet "I'm not. I'll not sit this one out."
"Are you serious?! Lucy, you can't keep anything down!",
"And?",
"And?! That's fucking insane to even think about playing? You're obviously in no condition to play!",
"I'm FINE", Lucy says but only throws up again.
"You're not fine, stop lying to yourself!", you yell and she just looks at you, before saying "I will play today, deal with it."
You just stare at her. "You know what? Fine. But I'm not gonna be there to scratch you off the floor when you collapse", you say and get up before you step out of the bathroom. You walk past Lauren and out of the room before making your way to your own room.
Everyone knows that's a lie. You'll take care of her but you'll still be mad.
"Is she coming? Did she get sick again?", Leah asks as you storm into the room. "Yes she is and of course she did", you say as you throw your hoodie on the bed and angrily pack the rest of your bag. "Hey. This is not your fault. That's just how Bronzey is", she says softly as she puts a hand on your shoulder. You look up with tears in your eyes and say "But that's just reckless. She couldn't keep anything down today, Leah. Nothing. She's in no state to play. Why can't she understand that?"
Leah sighs softly and says "I don't know but I know you did everything you could. Maybe Sarina doesn't let her play." You just sigh and sit down on your bed. Tears are still running down your cheeks as you mumble "I'm just scared something will happen to her." "I know, but she'll be okay. And if we're lucky she'll learn out of it?", Leah says and you just look at her with a raised eyebrow. You both laugh softly before Leah wraps her arms around you and pulls you in a hug. "She'll be okay Y/n/n", "I hope you're right", you mumble and calm down a bit.
You get dressed and ready before you head to the bus. Asking one of the medics for some of these emisis bags you sit down next to Lucy. Eventhough you freshend up and washed your face Lucy can still tell that you've cried and eventhough she's feverish she knows that it's her fault.
Talking to you isn't an option now though because you had your headphones on. Lucy knows you needed the drive to the stadium to sort your head so she just keeps quiet and looks out the window instead. Her stomach still cramping quiet badly but she tries not to show it. However, you can tell. Turning to her slightly you open your arms and let her lean on you before rubbing her belly softly. You still won't talk to her but you don't have the heart to let your girlfriend suffer.
You're about halfway there as you can tell Lucy is about to throw up again. You hand her the bag without a word and she throws up as quietly as she can to not disturb your teammates. As you finally reach the stadium you get up and move to the locker room. You all sit together in the locker room, changed, Lucy clearly miserable but she seems to be focused as your manager and the rest of the coaching staff comes in.
After looking around Sarina asks "Are up okay to play, Lucy?" Lucy just nods and you can't help but snort at that, shaking your head that Sarina would actually let Lucy play. "Something wrong Y/N?", she asks and you just shake your head again. You're part of the starting XI as well, you don't want to risk that spot because you argue with Sarina.
You all head out for warm up before you sit down on the bench to have some water. It's about time to line up. However before you can focus on that you hear Lucy starting to throw up again two spots down. You quickly walk over and rest a hand on her back, rubbing it softly as she throws up some water, clutching her stomach.
You look at her worried but once she's done you're more pissed than worried again so you just get up and head for the tunnel. Everyone can tell your pissed but lucky for them, you're an even better player when you're pissed.
The first half moves along greatly with you scoring at 36 minutes, getting your team in the lead. You're hot and playing well.
During half time break Lucy gets violently sick again on the bench. She's starting to become really feverish and you're really starting to be worried out of your mind. You can tell how bad the cramps are and that she can barely breathe deep without another cramp rocking through the brunettes stomach. "Lucy, this is getting ridiculous! You need to rest!", you say loudly. "I'm fine", she says weakly and you just huff angrily. "Can you continue Lucy?", Sarina asks and your girlfriend just nods. "You can't be serious?!", you ask Sarina angrily.
"Y/N, when Lucy says she can play. She can play", she says and you just look at her surprised before looking at the medics who just shrug. "You're seriously gonna let her play after she once again threw up everything in her? She's shaking and feverish! Do you know how reckless that is?", you ask in disbelief before you hear Lucy from behind you "Babe, calm down." "Oh don't you dare to tell me what to do. We will talk about that later", you snarls at your girlfriend, God you were angry. "You're some reckless people and I honestly don't know how you can even think about letting such a sick player play. Risking her health for what? Since when is winning more important than your players health", you spit at Sarina and the coaching staff.
You know you crossed a line probably but right now you don't give a shit. Leah having heard snippets of it, she walks over to you and pulls you away. "Come on, let's take a breather", she says and you look at her, wanting to yell at her too but her look makes you stop. You let her pull you away and she says "I know you're angry, but yelling at Sarina will only end in her pulling you of the field." You try to calm down but you can't stop the tears in your eyes once again. "I know, but have you seen Lucy? How can they let her play like that?", you ask as you try to swallow your worry. Leah stops moving and takes you in her arms again, holding you close to let you calm down. "I don't know, she'll be okay. You can't do anything for now. Get your head back in the game okay?", Leah says softly and you nod as you take a deep breath.
You get your head back in the game and try your best to not focus on Lucy as the second half starts. In the 59th minute you play another cross which almost ends in a perfect goal from LJ. Almost.
However in the 63th minute Sam Kerr breaks through and you break out in a sprint to catch her. Which you do, however, as she fakes to the right you slip on the artificial turf and fall to the ground. You still manage to kick the ball away slightly but not hard enough. Sam saves the ball and scores, making you even. You just sit on the ground with your head in your hands as you catch your breath. A few of your teammates come over, including Lucy, and help you up, telling you it's not your fault and especially Lucy asking "Are you okay?" You just nod, it had been a bit painful but nothing you can't push through.
Not even two minutes later you get subbed off. You look confused, you've been playing really well. You look at the sideline and see Sarina shaking her head. You walk off, let Alessia come in for you, walking to the bench without looking at Sarina. Did she really pull you off because of one mistake that you couldn't even stop?
You throw yourself in the seat and sip at your water, angry tears burning in your eyes. "Hey, its not your fault", Georgia tells you but you can't really trust that right now. Sarina obviously thinks it is.
You watch the game continue, pissed off. However as Lucy goes down after a tackle you jump up, looking at her worried. She sits up again so you know she didn't pass out but the game continues, also with another goal for you. Everyone on the bench is cheering except you. As Lucy slowly slides of the pitch and the medic makes her way to her you break out in a full run and run to your girlfriend. You can hear Sarina yell your name and tell you to stay but you don't give a shit.
You're there after the medic who is already looking at her knee. "Are you okay, Luce?", you ask worried as you squat down behind her with your hands on her shoulders. She pulls her legs up slightly as another round of cramps wreck havoc in her body. She just shakes her head. "Everything hurts, I can't even breath without my whole body cramping up", she mumbles as the medic gives her some electrolytes. Once she drank something it almost comes right back up. "Yeah you're done, love", you say and the medic nods. Lucy is pissed but knows you're right. That's when the ref stops the game and walks over to the three of you.
"You can't be here", she says to you and you just look at her confused. "I'm off the pitch, what's the problem?", you ask pissed. "Players can't be next to the goal, it doesn't matter if you're playing or not", "I'm checking on my teammate!", you yell at her. She picked the wrong moment to mess with you. Lucy is just staring at the ground trying to keep ber bearings.
"Don't talk to me like that!", the ref says strictly and you just snort before saying "You make a big deal out of nothing. You stop the game with no reason. Go do your job and let me take care of my teammate!"
You crossed a line and you know that.
She blows the whistle and pulls out a yellow card, giving it to you. "Are you serious? What's your fucking problem?", you start to argue again but the ref isn't having it. Before she could do anything else Leah runs between you two and tells you "Y/N get it together! You'll get carded again and miss the final! I know you're upset but shut your mouth!" By the time she finishes talking, Lucy is on her feet again, stumbling but on her feet. You turn away from the ref and rest a hand on Lucy's back as you guide her to the bench. Lucy gets subbed and you sit down on the bench as she almost immediately starts puking again. "Shh you're okay love", you say soothingly as you rub her back. The medic hands you a cold towel and you rest it on her neck, calming her down. "Y/N what the heck was that?!", Sarina says stomping towards you. You just roll your eyes and keep your attention on Lucy. "Don't ignore me!", she yells and you just look up and say clearly, "I'm not gonna apologize."
You can tell she's about to send you in the locker room but then your teammates score another goal. Your focus still stays on Lucy, it's great your in the lead with two but right now you're worried about your girlfriend. She's trembling and tensing every few moments because of the cramps, the heat here not helping. "Shh you'll be alright, my love", you say gently and press a kiss to her warm temple. As she rests her head in her hands you squat in front of her and hold the cold towel to each side of her face, hoping to lower her fever a bit. The final whistle is blown and you press a kiss to her forehead. "We won, Luce. We're in the final", you whisper and the brunette smiles softly.
"I really don't feel good", she mumbles and your heart breaks at that. "I know, let's get you in the locker room", you say gently before looking at the medic and he just nods for you to take her.
You help her up and steady her as she sways. "We gotta get your fever down", you say and she just nods but you can tell she's pretty out of it. You help her undress and guide her in the shower, only taking off your shoes, shorts and shirt. Getting in with her to make sure she doesn't fall. You stay in for almost 20 minutes but by then her fever dropped at least a little. You are pretty cold but you can care less right now.
Your teammates are mostly in the locker room already as you guide Lucy back to her bench and help her get dressed. "Baby, you're cold", she says but you just ignore her. "She's right, we don't want you getting sick before the final", Leah says, laying your towel around your shoulders. You smile softly at her, thanking her.
Once Lucy is dressed, you quickly change yourself. You will shower at the hotel again. You just pull your shirt down as Sarina knocks at the door. Leah tells her that she can come in and by the look on her face you know she's not done with you.
"What the hell were you thinking, Y/N?!", she yells at you. Leah wants to intervene but you're too quick to answer "What was I thinking?" "You got a yellow because you couldn't keep your mouth shut eventhough you weren't even playing!", she yells at you. "Well I wouldn't have if you wouldn't have been so reckless! What on earth made you think it's okay to let Lucy play?", you ask back loudly. You'd not back down and even Leah knows that intervening now will not end well.
"Lucy said she's fine to play!", she yell and you just laugh angrily. "Everyone knows that she doesn't know when to stop. For fucks sake she couldn't keep anything down all day. Any person that can think logically knew that this was a disaster waiting to happen!", you yell and she just looks angrily at you. "Y/N", Lucy tries, not completely out if it anymore but you just turn to her and say "You better be quiet, Bronze. I'm not done with you either." The fact that you last namened her lets her know she's in trouble so she just shuts her mouth.
"I'm not letting you chew me out because I got a yellow. The ref has been waiting to do that all game and we all know that. You subbed me off because I opened my mouth at halftime. I couldn't have prevented that goal and even if I still feel guilty for it, you of all people should know that it was not my fault!", you yell angrily, you're fuming. "You got a yellow, you're lucky you're not suspended for the final!", she yells back.
"Yeah well if you would've acted with the health of your players as top priority, non of this would've happened!", you spit. "Careful or you'll find yourself on the bench for the final!", she threatens and that when Leah knows she has to step in as captain. "Okay that's enough. Let's go all back to the hotel and calm down before we make any hasty decisions", Leah tells and Sarina just glares at you once more before she leaves the locker room.
"Y/N", Lucy tries again but you just warn, "Don't." "I think it's better if you're quiet, Bronzey", Leah says quietly but you can see her trying to hide a smirk. It's rare to see Lucy Bronze not having a cheeky remark. Leaving the seriousness aside, it is kinda funny so you get Leah.
You head to the bus and sit down next to Lucy again. Now that you're calming down, you're starting to feel your knee a bit from that slip but you'll be fine. You're still pretty pissed so you grab your headphones and put them on, closing your eyes as you lean your head back. You can feel Lucy shifting next to you and not settling in the slightest, so you open your eyes and look at the brunette. You can tell she's feeling sick but the cramps seem to be worse than ever. You sigh softly and turn slightly, before you say "Come here." She looks at you unsure and you say again "I may be really mad at you but I still love you. You have 5 seconds to decide if you want my comfort or not."
It doesn't even take one for her to cuddle into you. Most people wouldn't think that but Lucy is a snuggler. Especially when she's not feeling well. You pull her close and hand her one of the bags you have left, just in case before you gently rub over her belly, trying to soothe those angry muscles.
You end up stuck in traffic and thanks to your soft touch Lucy dozes off a bit. Your eyes are closed again and the music kept the other voices from disturbing your peace. "I thought Y/N is mad at Lucy?", a fairly new teammate asks. She's not been on the team for long enough to fully get Lucy's and your relationship. "Oh she is, she's pissed out of her mind", Keira chuckles softly. "But they're cuddling?!", she asked even more confused. "You must know, Y/n/n is that kind of person where she can be unbelievably mad at you, but she'll still make sure you're okay. No matter what. Lucy can mess up badly like right now but Y/N will take care of her until she feels better because she loves her. She would never in a million years let Lucy suffer on her own or not be there for her just because she's mad. They have a special kind of love", Leah explained as a few of your teammates smile at you guys softly.
You feel that you're being stared at, so you open your eyes to find several teammates quickly look away, but not Leah, Keira and LJ. You see their smile and look down to see Lucy asleep on you. You can't help the smile you crack. Your girlfriend is pretty adorable but you'd never let her see that smile right now. You press a soft kiss to her head and lean back again. Eventually, you make it to the hotel and make your way inside. LJ and you switching rooms for the night, so you can make sure Lucy is okay.
You let Leah know that neither of you will attend dinner tonight before you bring Lucy in the room. "Come on, change and then bed", you say and Lucy wants to argue but your look makes her close her mouth again before following your orders. Lucy is about to lie down as Lauren bring you your bag, before grabbing hers and making her way back to Leah. You start boiling some water in the kettle in the room before fishing the hot water bottle out of your bag. Heat often helps your muscles and Lucy too even if she doesn't want to admit it, so you usually bring it. Once you are done prepping it, you sit down at the edge of the bed, lift the blanket and place it on Lucy's stomach. She sighs softly in relief before she looks up at you with teary eyes.
You know that she hates it when you're mad at her. You sigh softly and caress her cheek, before you say "Don't cry, Luce. Everything will be okay." "Do you still love me? I'm sorry", she asks insecure and it breaks your heart. That's definitely mostly the exhaustion talking. "I will always love you. Even when I'm mad, love. Now do me a favor and get some sleep okay? I'll join you after a quick shower", you say as you kiss her forehead lovingly. She doesn't have to be told twice. Not even a minute later she's already dozing off.
You smile and shower quickly, before joining her in bed. You cuddle your sleeping girlfriend for about an hour until there is a soft knock at the door. It opens a second later and you see Leah waking in with a tray. There is some dinner on it for you and some crackers and fresh ginger for tea for Lucy. "I figured you'd be hungry. How's our Bronzey?", she asks softly to not wake Lucy.
"Thank you. She's okay, I think. I'm glad she's sleeping. She's exhausted", you say as you look concerned at your girlfriend. Leah walks up to you and squeezes your shoulder before she says "She looks a bit better already. She'll be okay. Now eat something yourself please okay?" You sigh and nod before you thank her. Leah leaves again and you eat your dinner. You're just done eating as Lucy stirs. You gently push a piece of hair out of her face and ask "How are you feeling, love?" "A bit better", she mumbles and leans into your touch.
You press a kiss to her forehead and ask "Do you think you could keep down some tea?" "I can try", she says with a small smile, so you get up and finish some tea with the fresh ginger.
Once it's done, she sits up and you hand her the mug before sitting down across from her. You can tell the fever is gone and she seems a lot clearer than earlier.
"How mad at me are you?", she asks softly as she looks up at you. "Pretty mad", you say before you sigh. "Lucy, you cannot be so irresponsible. This could've ended badly and you know that", "I know, I'm sorry", she says quietly. You know own she means it but that just isn't enough. "I know you are but you're sorry because I'm mad now. Lucy I need you to understand that I'm not mad because you acted against my wish. I was fucking worried about you. You could've gotten seriously hurt. I need you to be okay and I don't know how often I can go through such a day like today", you say seriously, close to tears. She knows your biggest fear is losing her.
She quickly puts aside the mug and opens takes your hands in hers. "Hey y/n/n, look at me and listen please. I know I messed up. I know I worried you and scared you. And I'm sorry for that. I can only imagine how anxious you must've been all day and I never wanted to be the reason you're feeling like that. We both know I have a problem to know my limits and I know I should've listened to you. I'm truly sorry and I need you to believe me. I try to listen to you next time", she says as she looks into your eyes and you just nod before she takes you in her arms, letting you calm down and let those tears and anxiety out.
"I'm still mad at you", you mumble in her shoulder. "I know, I deserve that", she chuckles softly and kisses your forehead. After a few minutes in her arms, you sut up and say "Now drink that tea." "Yes ma'am", Lucy just say causing you to roll your eyes smiling.
Grabbing the hot water bottle from her stomach she pouts dramatically and you just laugh before you tell her "Relax, I'm gonna make a fresh one for you."
Getting up you limp a step before putting the water back in the kettle and turn it on, shaking your leg out slightly. You're definitely feeling your knee and Lucy can tell immediately. "Let me look at your knee", she says but you answer "Lucy I want you to rest and drink your tea." "Yeah, well I don't want my girlfriend to be in pain either when she takes care of me", Lucy tells you seriously. She'll not back down, you know that.
You sigh, finish up the hot water bottle and make your way back to bed. Laying the hot water bottle next to her she gets up and tell you to sit down so she can check on your knee. If there is one person to know everything about knees it's Lucy. She can tell how tense the muscles are, probably overstretched a bit. She massages them a bit, which is pretty uncomfortable but ultimately helps.
"Make sure one of the physios takes a look at that tomorrow and gets you taped up", she says softly and you nod, before you thank her. "Not for that", she says and presses a kiss to your knee before getting back in bed. You cuddle up next to her and place the hot water bottle back on her stomach.
Both of you head to sleep pretty early but she does finish her tea and even eats a few crackers without throwing up again. The next morning, you wake up in her arms. You turn off the alarm and she opens her eyes to look sleepily at you. "Morning, I missed this", she mumbles before kissing your head. "Me too", you say smiling before gently rubbing over her stomach. "How's your tummy?", you ask and she answers "Sore but definitely not as queasy anymore."
You just smile satisfied and cuddle for a few more minutes before you get ready for breakfast.
Once down in the dining area you kiss her cheek and say "Sit down already, I'm gonna get us something to eat." She nods and sits down next to Leah. You come back a few minutes later with two plates only to find Lucy and Leah looking at Leah's phone watching the game from yesterday. More precisely the scene where you got a yellow.
"Why are you watching that?", you whine slightly as you place a plate of toast, some cucumber and some watermelon. "I don't remember much of the game yesterday, I wanna know why you got carded", Lucy says grinning and you just roll your eyes. "The ref has been waiting all game for that", you grumble and Leah just chuckles before she says "And thanks to her you're also on bad terms with Sarina." You just sigh and rub over your face, all of that making your head hurt slightly.
Lucy rests a hand on your thigh and makes you look at her. "Thank you for standing up for me", she says softly. "You're welcome, but you better don't do it again, Bronze", you say with a raised eyebrow. She winced slightly at being last named again. "Understood", she says before pressing a kiss to your temple

Lauren James x Chelsea!reader
âI donât know what you mean, thereâs no flirting going on. Itâs just a drink calm down you twoâ
It wasnât though.
It was never âjustâ a drink.
Lauren James x Chelsea! reader
2.7k ish words
Another glass of rosĂ© wine was placed in front of you on the table and youâd have almost missed it appearing if it wasnât for the grin Erin gave you and the hand squeezing your shoulder.
Looking up above you LJ stood dropping off yet another drink for you almost like your own personal waiter for the evening. She gave you a quick smile before going back to the bar where a few of your team mates were stood.
âGod will you two get over this or actually speak to each otherâ Erin groaned before picking up your new glass and taking a swig.
âErm excuse me thatâs mine thank youâ
âYouâve had enough free drinks already!â
âDonât be jealous youâve got no friends Erinâ you laughed as you took the wine glass out of her hand and setting it back in front of you. âWhat are you talking about anyway?â
âI donât think just friends buy drinks all night for each other, and they certainly donât silently flirt with each otherâ Erin sighed giving Guro a nudge with her elbow, as she seemed to be pointing out the oblivious, or at least obvious to everyone but you.
âYes the flirting its so not subtle anymoreâ Guro agreed with Erin.
âI donât know what you mean, thereâs no flirting going on. Itâs just a drink calm down you twoâ
It wasnât though.
It was never âjustâ a drink.
It was four or maybe five drinks tonight⊠and your dinner that Lauren had paid for before you met up with the rest of the Chelsea team at the busy bar you were now in.
When you think about it LJ did lots of that, a coffee on your pre match walk. A cup of tea was usually waiting for you when you got to training in the morning. A bottle of water after a match or if you were subbed off after her was silently handed to you.
It had all become a habit, so much so that youâd not really noticed it all any more. And when you did you assumed it was just Lauren being nice. Or at least that was what you had convinced yourself it was after youâd lost all hope that the feelings you had for her were reciprocated.
It must have been all in your head that she could feel the same way after youâd not been so subtle with some of the messages you tried to send her way once you realised the feelings were more than just the one you had for your other friends. Lauren was easily your closest person on the team and with the Lionesses. The two of you were always together.
While you spent a lot of that time taking any chance to glance over at Lauren, slightly mesmerised by her in certain moments, particularly on the pitch. Her talent could be seen by anyone with eyes, but not many people saw more than that. LJ is a private person she didnât tell anyone much, unless you were a close friend, about her love life. Not that she found much time for that anyway. Training, the gym and focussing on all things football were her priorities.
Still she found time for you, afternoons and evenings were often spent at one of your places or in each others hotel rooms. Chatting, extra training, trash tv watching all just seemed to make the time go by far too quickly for your liking. You truly enjoyed every second you spent with Lauren, it was becoming more difficult to put your feelings aside but you knew it was important for your friendship that you didnât let it slip. Lauren confessing her feelings or just sweeping you up after a goal celebration and kissing you remained just day dreams that kept you up when you were apart.
She didnât feel the same, she couldnât. She would have told you by now, you are each others best friend and no secrets were kept from you. So you were content as much as you could be with what you got, a couple of drinks and the occasional present she picked up just because it made her think of you would be enough for you.
But the candles that were beginning to take over your flat, the soft blankets she knew you could never have enough of and the cuddly kangaroo that sat on your bed every day, as a memory from the World Cup were treasured possessions for you. But just presents from one friend to another you thought.
âLeave it, pleaseâ It was not the most convincing argument to put forward to the girls who were at the very least bored of your pinning after your team mate.
âNo itâs something you canât ignore now, you need to speak to Lauren or weâll make youâ Erin boldly stated still with a bit of a smirk on her face letting you know it was at least a bit entertaining to wind you up.
âMake me by doing what guys? Thereâs nothing to say even if I did like Lauren, which I donât, itâs not like she would be the same. She just sees me as a friend.â
âOh come on thatâs not true and you know thatâ Erin exclaimed, taking the lead on the pre planned conversation her and Guro were now launching on to you. They had encouraged each other to ask the both of you what was going on, and maybe with you a few drinks down they could push you and Lauren together.
âIâm going to the toilet, back in a minâ You say pushing yourself back in your chair and leaving the table before they could say anything otherwise.
After weaving through the crowd you realised just how many drinks you had consumed that night, as you sat down you could feel the room swaying a little.
Still feeling a little lightheaded you wandered back through to the table, and after rounding a corner you bumped into a figure muttering a sorry before realising who it was.
âItâs alright itâs just meâ Lauren said. She had caught hold of your arm to catch you before you had the chance to fall and her hand had come up to rest on your waist, resting on the skin in between your crop top and jeans, as she spoke to you.
âAre you ok? I just came to check on youâ
âIâm fine I just think Iâve had a bit more to drink than I realised. I might need to sit downâ you laughed. It wasnât like you were falling over drunk but you were feeling the effects of those drinks Lauren had so kindly got you.
âCâmon thenâ LJ turned to walk back to where you had been sat before and you followed. The bar was pretty dimly lit and crowded, to keep track of you Lauren reached behind and held her hand out for you to hold. She led you through to the table and pulled out your chair, once you were sat she crouched down with her hand still holding yours.
âIâll get you some water do you want anything else?â
You shook you head and Lauren left you at the table, you werenât alone for long as Erin and Guro now joined by Sam and Millie took the opportunity to pounce on you.
âWhy donât you just tell your girlfriend you love her?â Sam teased from the other side of the table while the others giggled. It was harmless teasing and you all knew it wasnât meant to offend you, it just cut a bit close to home this time.
âLJ told me you went on a date with her earlier you knowâ Millie said, glancing over her shoulder to check that LJ wasnât within earshot.
âOooohâ was the collective sound that came from the rest of the group who seemed to have never heard any gossip more exciting than this as they squealed in delight at Millieâs news.
âAlright, I think thatâs me done for the night. Stop shit stirring guysâ you laughed along with them, moving round the table you hugged each of them and said a quick goodbye promising to catch up again at training on Monday.
âSorry it took a whileâ LJ said placing a glass of water into your hand when you met her near the bar. You downed the water appreciating the gesture. âYou heading out?â She asked noticing the bag on your shoulder.
âYeah Iâm shattered, and them lot are getting annoyingâ you pointed behind you at the girls still giggling away.
âIâll book an Uber nowâ She said pulling out her phone.
âNo itâs alright Iâll book it, you picked me up on the way, on the way to our dateâŠâ you trailed off. You werenât fully sure if Millie had been joking and feeling quite tipsy you maybe were letting the teasing get to you. You looked at Lauren whose attention had now been turned away from her phone. âLetâs just go itâs loud in hereâ
LJ took your hand and like she had earlier led you through the bar and outside, she still had her phone in her hand ready to book an Uber to collect you both before you could argue with her.
âYou really should let me pay for something at some point you know Laurenâ you sighed with a smile as the two of you stepped outside. âNeverâ LJ smirked holding the door open for you.
âIâd feel much better if you just let me take you homeâ
âOnly if you come back with me then, I get lonely without youâ. You said leaving against her, resting your head on her should for a brief moment.
LJ nodded and confirmed sheâd booked just one cab to go to your address already, like she already knew what youâd ask her to do. You werenât waiting for too long it wasnât a weekend or too late so you were thankful when the car pulled up and LJ spoke to the driver before opening the rear door for you. You climbed in the car shuffling through as far as the middle seat so LJ could slide in next to you without walking round the car.
The window was cracked down slightly letting in a breeze that seemed to help you sober up but the tiredness was setting in. A hand rested on your leg giving your thigh a squeeze, when you turned to look at LJ she was already looking right at you. You werenât sure if it was the eye contact or the the close proximity that made your stomach do little flips. She had this effect on you a lot more than youâd want to admit. You moved your hand to rest on top of hers giving it a reassuring nudge as she moved it slightly further up and into your inner thigh.
âFuckâ you thought, was this really happening? Suddenly you were no longer feeling so tired. You gave a small smile to Lauren that she returned, her eyes glancing down to your lips and back up. The car slowed down as it rounded a corner and you glanced away and out of the front window of the car to see that you were just round the corner from your flat. Once you had thanked the driver you followed LJ out of the car and took her hand as she watched you get out of the car.
Fumbling through your bag for your keys you walked towards the main door for your flat, once you had found them and opened the door you looked behind you to LJ who stood close by. This time as you lead her inside and up the couple of flights of stairs you took the lead and reached for her hand first, you didnât need her to take you through a crowd just simply to be there. Opening up your door walking through to your lounge you let Lauren shut and lock the door as she quickly follows you.
Flopping down into the corner seat of your sofa you kicked off your shoes and relaxed into the seat, glad to be back home. âComfy?â LJ said as you sat almost laying down, you could feel her sit next to you getting close once again. âVery, I could fall asleep nowâ you murmured your eyes closed.
âWe should go to bed thenâ
âGive me a minâ
Sitting in what was comfortable single for a few moments grew to another tension filled moment just like there had been in the taxi. When you slowly opened your eyes LJ was looking down at her hands, you gave in to what felt right and moved forward to slip your hand into hers. She moved one of her hands to link with yours and cupped your hand with both of hers still looking down at them.
It was such a comfort you, the soft touch of her hand against yours. It wasnât just a joke what the girls had said at the bar, it was a date and it really could be that Lauren liked you back. You could feel all of that being expressed just by the physical contact you shared. You had to take that leap and say it. Lauren was the more shy of the two of you so really if you didnât say it now you werenât sure sheâd be ready to take to leap first.
âWill you kiss me, please?â You spoke softly, almost afraid that if you spoke to loudly, to harshly it would scare her away or disrupt the moment. For no longer than a few seconds, yet it felt like an age, your team mate and best friend sat there not moving away but also not moving to fulfil your ask. It wasnât often LJ didnât do want you asked her to, she went out of her way to do a lot for you, to make you happy and smile. But you couldnât doubt that it was what she wanted too.
Especially not when she turned her head to you, her hands leaving yours as she budged closer to you to sit almost in between your legs leaving some small distance between you and her. You leant forward meeting her in the small gap and she looked straight at you, taking the sight of you in before leaning in her eyes closing and her lips connecting with yours as you did the same.
It was a soft kiss, gentle as her lips moved against yours. It wasnât just a peck on the lips, you were grateful she put some real effort into the kiss. You sighed quietly into the kiss as Lauren moved you towards her with her hands coming to rest against you, sitting on your hips. She gently pushed you down against the sofa as she leaned over you, while not disconnecting your lips once. One of the arms came to rest above your head holding her up, she moved back to allow you both to breathe for a second.
A quick kiss pressed against her lips as a small giggle passed from your lips as she smiled, that smile you loved to see, a smile you felt so lucky to see more than anyone else got to.
âIâm not sure if I expected that to happen tonight or notâ Lauren admitted âIâve wanted to do that for a long timeâ.
âHave you really?â You asked tentatively almost still afraid that if you spoke to loudly it would all disappear.
âFor so long, Iâve had to stop myself from doing it almost every time weâve been together latelyâ She confessed.
âLooks like weâve got plenty of lost time to make upâ You said and pulled her back down for another long kiss.

Hi, this is the first time Iâve ever really written anything like this but I thought Iâd give it a go finally after thinking about it for a long time đ

đïžTurbo (Wreck-It Ralph) x (gn) Readerđ
(First Kiss Edition!)
(âŠWho wouldnât wanna smooch this guy?)
- The topic of the first kiss with Turbo is up for debate, the various situations you may be in really determines on when it happens, whether you be from Turbo Time yourself, or from a different game, the results are all of the same because of that physical urge to express love.
- I donât think heâs absolutely hopeless in kissing, maybe having some experience (up for debate ngl)
- Honestly, there are so many ways this could happen, but to hone it down to fit somewhat cohesively, Iâll talk about two different ways it could happen.
- In one instance, a first kiss between you two in a short answer could be described as toothy, bitey, and uncoordinated as fuck. Borderline bad (makes you swear to keep your first kiss to the grave). The longer answer is more difficult.
- There is two points in time which it occurs, either before or after you guys get together. But I can only see him really build up the nerve to actually kiss you out of being frustrated by something or someone, well, even more so than usual.
- Itâs mindless at first, almost impulsive as he smashes his lips into your own which makes you recoil in pain as Turbo processes what he just did, and just how terrible it was.
- Heâs embarrassed about it for a LONG time, so much so he doesnât attempt to do it again for a bit, be patient with him it was a gargantuan blow to his ego.
- Thatâs till you kiss him for the second time as a reward for doing so well one day in the spur of the moment, which he instantly takes a liking, no, LOVINGđ to.
- Second option? If it was actually planned it could have the potential to be charming and sweet, but again Turbo isnât exactly known for being those things.
- Sees it as no big deal at first, thatâs just how he is, but something probably outside of himself (like Fix-It Felix perhaps) makes him realize it is important, why would he put in the effort if it wasnât?
- A date planned, time spent together, laughter being sharedâ It all comes to a head when he gets the courage and kisses you, almost imperceptible nervous air to the moment which dissipates when you reciprocate it.
- On a mental high for a while, content and overly smug about your relationship. He has a habit of bragging about anything and everything so this becomes his top thing to brag about for a bit.
- Much like how his personality is, there are two extremes in each end of a scale.
- Kisses with him in general are fleeting, never lasting more than a second or two before he pulls away to talk all about his day with you, he has a reputation to maintain as Litwackâs âmost successful game avatarâ.
- Though there are instances in which they last a bit longer, almost always occurring in private.
- Rare instances of him exposing weakness to you, letting himself relish in that personal attention you give him so willingly.
- In a way itâs another way for you to two to see eye to eye, both physically and mentally as you both share something special. As mushy as that is.
- Itâs like a little emotional pick me up for him, giving him that nonverbal reassurance that despite everything he has you.
- Like an emotional balm for that intense fire he has constantly glowing in his chest at the slightest of provocation, your kisses can be a highlight to his day.
- But sometimes kisses arenât enough, nor are words, nor is logic.

The happenings, Tumblr edition
Obviously I am not happy about the prospect of Tumblr going into sunset "guess we'll just let it die" mode (or possibly "Let's sell it to fuck knows who!!"), if that is indeed what is happening. My clinical anxiety needs a lot of things. This is not one of them.
I've been using Tumblr as my primary hangout for pretty much exactly a year now. I am tired of watching platforms enshittify and crumble. Why does this keep happening to us. I am weary.
At the same time, yeah, Twitter is dogshit now, but a year after it got taken over, it is there still. There were some problems on Reddit, but it's thoroughly still there. There was time to figure out some migration for all the good it did.
I worked on essay-type posts and recaps all this year to figure out approximately how many spoons I have and how much I can expect to post a month, before I actually got the Patreon running in October. A solid 1-2 Long Posts a month, it seems like, and maybe more frequently if I do shorter posts. And Tumblr has great opportunities to just keep reblogging and sharing things, sometimes adding comments, so I feel like I'm active even when I'm stuck trying to finish a post of my own.
So now, fuck me, I guess
So I have the Patreon as a way to say, hey, I'm here no matter what else happens, sign up for the ~*free*~ weekend linkspam/check-in, here's what I posted wherever this week, I'll put up some early or extra stuff if you'd like to upgrade to a fancy tier someday. It is truly most important to me for people to just know where I am; you don't have to commit to the $1 or $5 tiers.
But I also want a way to post my writing publicly, so people can, you know, see it. So I'm gonna start mirroring my own longer posts on Dreamwidth, I guess. That's the place I know to go back to.
Hopefully Dreamwidth does not go also down in flames!!!!
I've started archiving some of my work (also from LJ and Twitter) as PDFs in Dropbox. Mostly as a safeguard for myself, but I'll make it a public link on the Patreon.
I would really like to keep up with where people are going, what sites people are going to try to migrate to next, and I'll pass that info on as I get it.
All that said, I think most of us will stay on Tumblr as long as we can, if only for the very unique shoot-the-shit culture it has. Like, people aren't leaving it so much as preparing for the future.
