Hey guys, so in response to @thecircularlibrary's post from a little ago about horses, I remembered the one I made about the horses the brothers would own and I realize that I never did one for Avery and Libby.

So, let's dive into it!

Avery:

Krispy Kreme-Since our dear Heiress didn't have any exposure to horses in the past (though she did have a horse girl phase when she was nine), she had no real knowledge of breeds or riding style, gear, etc. It was up to Nash and Jameson to help her find the perfect starter horse. Well, when in Texas, why not a Quarter? Nash decided the breed and Jameson suggested one of their retired barrel racing horses, HER Pearl in the Dust aka Krispy Kreme. (Side note: HER stands for Hawthorne Estate Ranch, indicating the birth place and breeder of the horse for registry purposes-something for the random fact nerds to learn.) With a perlino coat and quiet, friendly demeanor, she was the perfect candidate. Avery adores her so and with Nash closely monitoring her riding lessons, Jameson is all too excited for when he'll sneak her out for night rides and also get her into barrel racing. Krispy loves her new owner and loves to herd Avery around especially when she has sugar cubes on her!

Thorn-Another retired horse, this Thoroughbred gelding has a rare frame overo coat and like many of Tobias Hawthorne's racehorses, Thorn for Rosettes was quite successful in his hay day. Post-race career he was repurposed as a show-jumper and that worked out for a while until a bad injury put him out. Thankfully, he recovered but he is still a good boy who loves trail riding and will jump the smaller logs and creeks he and Avery encounter. Avery absolutely loves him and she says he's her fave (out of Krispy's hearing range, of course).

Philly Cheese-This spunky lad is a very rare Dartmoor pony, actually one of the first born in Xander's pony herd from his imported mare. As Xan wanted to express his enthusiasm for his BHFF taking on an equine interest, he had to gift her a Xander special. The little grey colt is less than a year old with breeding stud in his future but for now, he's just a happy camper. He loves playing games of chase with Avery around the paddock and also rolling around in the sand pen. When Max visits, she loves braiding his mane with little bows to tie them off.

Serebro (Серебро)-Although Avery doesn't really care for prestigiousness of a horse breed compared to their personality and riding ability, Jamie urged her to get at least one rare, expensive splurge. Trot onstage right Serebro. Aptly named Silver in Russian for the dapple grey coat, typical of her breed, this Orlov Trotter mare is truly a stunner to see in person. She is trained for harness racing, dressage, and sleigh riding! As he knew that Avery wouldn't be ready for the complicated disciplines her mare was trained in, Jameson vowed that in the winter, he would take her in a one horse open sleigh.

Libby:

Black Beauty: One of the only two horses that she dares to own. Nash calls this her perfect goth girl horse (I mean, who can resist a classic all-black horse even if you weren't a goth?), as her name implies, this Friesian mare is truly gorgeous. With a long mane and feathering, she is Libby's fantasy horse come to life. Once upon a time, she was a dressage champ but she was put to broodmare status for a while until Nash purchased her as a gift for Lib. Now she enjoys her days being a pleasure riding horse with her owner, on the chance when Libby actually feels comfortable riding her (with Nash's encouragement, of course).

Peanut Butter: The second Friesian she owns (technically split ownership with Nash because he loves her so much too), this rare beauty is a CHESTNUT which doesn't really occur among the breed due to the way the registry works (black horses only EXCEPT in some cases). Opposite to her counterpart, she was a carting horse and also halter class competitor with a background in dressage. The way she was bought has something to do with peanut butter cupcakes and Nash's insistence but that's a story for another time (wink wink hint hint: future fic).

Psychonauts 1: I would say my favorite character is either Boyd Cooper, Bonita Soleil, or Kitty Bubai. I love Bonita and Kitty's designs a lot! And Boyd had one of the most fun and interesting world's/minds that it just boosts him up.

Oh! I also really like Phoebe Love because I can see her having a lot of potential for interesting stories. Especially with her fight against her pyrokinesis. She also just has a nice design.

I don't know really about least favorite (for either game), and I am pretty indifferent to most of the other characters of the first game. At least the Whispering Rock campers and honestly the counselors. I liked the asylum patients a lot though!

For hated character... I don't know if this counts since they are enemies and not characters, but I fucking hate that Bull in Edgar's mind! It is SO annoying. That or the goddamn confusion rats! Oooooh I hated those things so much. But for characters I did not really hate anyone. (also those demon meat bunnies were annoying but only because I was trying to collect all the figures the first time around and kept getting little Oly killed, whoops).

I think I thought of a least favorite character! It would be Sasha Nein. I'm sorry but he was just not that fun level-wise. Plus Milla, Ford, and Oleander were more fun. I loved the asylum patients and was okay with most of the campers, so yeah. I think Sasha is my least fave in the game. His theme song for his level though? That was a bop and the only one I remember other than Waterloo/Fred's mind because I just spent so much time in that level.

Psychonauts 2: My absolute fave is Sam Boole. Of course. This is Sam we are talking about! Though I also really love Lizzie just because of their design really. Their personality is also really good, but Sam's design and personality together beat Lizzie's great design and good personality.

Oh and you can't forget Bob and Helmut with their awesome designs! Or Maligula and her voice! Cassie also is lovely and has an awesome design. Literally all of the Psychic 7 are amazing and I love them all so much! Otto would be my only one I am not SUPER in love with and that's just because we don't get to see his mind, so technically least fave of the Psychic 7.

Least favorite? Hmm, probably Lili in all honesty. She does have some cool things going on with her, but I just never really cared all that much. I like a lot of fan interpretations of her though!

I actually don't think I'm all too indifferent to a lot of characters. I have a reaction to most of them in this game. Maybe Gristol. Like he is supposed to be the main reason for the story line, and I did like the reveal, but idk, I don't care for him. I guess technically Lili is also indifferent, though I do like fan her. Oh, also Truman. Like I literally forget he is a character all the time lol.

And I honestly don't think I HATE anyone in this game. Not even the enemies all that much. Yeah no, I looked through the list of characters and can't think of a single one I truly hate. MAYBE the enabler because it was annoying.

I'm stickin my info dump below the cut for dash reasons, but their group tag on my blog is "#rvb oc: the clovers" for more of them!!

Officially they're marked down as a fireteam called Clovers, despite not actually being part of a specific squad. The bureaucratic reasoning is that because they're all specialists to some degree, its easier to move them to where they need to be if they don't have to wait for the rest of their squad. The unofficial reason is that no officer wants to pick up the three of them for their squad because supposedly they're bad luck for any squad they officially join, but you can't put superstition on your paperwork. Being a small, 'free floating' fireteam also means they're super easy to grab to work smaller jobs like recon and escort missions, or just to beef up a preexisting squad, so they end up bouncing around between bases a lot, going where they're needed.

Pavoz is a weapons and vehicles specialist, and he gets his heavy artillery qualifications after the Reds are 'killed by the rebels'. He had the training for a while but hadn't taken the actual final test to get the red trimmed armor with everything else going on- thinking Sarge was dead was the final kick in the pants he needed to get it finalized. Both of his parents were in the Federal Army before him, and he used his mom's maiden name when he registered to allow for some distance between them and him. He did get his dad's dogtags after his dad died, despite that distance, so now Anton wears both his own tags and his dad's. He's a pretty quiet guy for the most part, and he likes to draw! As a teenager, he used to sit in the center throughway of the base his father was stationed at on the weekends and just people watch and sketch everyone he could.

Neko is a translation specialist, although he never actually gives the same answer if you ask him exactly how many languages he knows. Sometimes he gives a reasonable, if impressive number, like 5 or 7. Sometimes he just says 'yes' or 'how ever many I want' because he's a little shit like that. He's also a lying liar who lies, which you can imagine isn't be ideal for someone who is supposed to be translating for you, but he mostly keeps his bullshitting limited to answering personal questions, like where he's from, how old is he, why is he such an asshole, etc. You know, for the bit! Neko is always up for a good joke or a prank, although he definitely prefers the kind that are best delivered with a well timed comment and then watching the chaos unfold around him. He's also a regular feature in the gym at whatever base they're currently at- gymnastics, cardio and sparring are his go to workouts, and he's surprisingly flexible to boot!

Ivia is a medic! She was starting in her second semester of college for a degree in zoology and xenobiology when the protests against the Chorusan government escalated and the first whispers of civil war started cropping up in certain circles and she joined the Federal army after her father was killed in what was reported as a rebellion bombing. Her dad's UNSC hoodie that he gave her when she first moved to Armonia for her classes is her most beloved possession now, even if it is way too big for her- it reminds her of when he would take her camping, just the two of them, and she treasures both the memories and the skills she learned on those trips. She tends to be separated the most from the other two Clovers- medical personal are in high demand everywhere on Chorus, and there's a pretty limited supply. She tends to worry a lot about the boys when they're apart, but that high medic demand does keep her distracted at least. When they're together, Ivia keeps the other two from driving each other crazy- just as they keep her grounded with her tendency to get caught up thinking about the bigger picture of cause and effect, and usually overthinking about it in the process.

5. A quote without context. I didn't actually want to say the first thing that popped into my mind--I do a fair amount of these memes, so I've had to answer what is my best line/fave line/etc before and naturally those were the ones that floated to the surface. Instead, I tried to just let my mind drift over various stories I had written to see if some particular thing would pop out, and here's what I got:

[the context, because I think it would be nearly impossible to find unless you recognize it, which I hope most people who read that fic would]

3 and 4 are technically two parts of the same...concept? It's not actually a real fanfic. Anyway, as a bonus, there's the first line from my last big fanfic:

“I don’t know if they’re trying to capitalize on Boy’s Day, or what,” Rukia said, idly inching her hand toward the plate of hot, steaming gyoza sitting on the countertop next to Renji’s stove, “but they’re having some sort of Seafood Festival out in East Sixth.”

I just love a dialogue cold open, I guess????

16. Current favorite phrase. This summer, I feel deeply in love with the writing of Ann Leckie, like, I think she might be my favorite author now. A phrase that Ann Leckie characters use all the time is to respond "Just so," to something they agree with. It's just a great phrase because I feel like you have to have some level of self-confidence, of bearing to go around saying shit like this. It's like "Yes, I am glad you see the truth of this thing that I, obviously, already knew." I am do not feel remotely capable of writing Imperial Radch fanfic, but I do feel capable of making certain Gotei captains say "just so" and now I do. So if you see one of those in my writing, that is me in my Ann Leckie era.

19. Headcanon I always include. "Rukia" is a name that Rukia gave to herself. I don't see any reason that she would know what the name she died under. She was a baby. Name magic is one of my very favorite themes in writing, and this is a very important part of the magic of Rukia's character, to me. I will never, ever say what her original name was, even though Byakuya knows what it is because Hisana told him. It doesn't matter. Rukia is her real name. (Is this why Hisana could never find her...? Perhaps)

hello!!! due to unforeseen circumstances (tea-based procrastination) the end of my essay took like double the time i thought it would… horrid :( but it's done now (yippee!!!) so i would be MORE than happy to tell you all about rodolhov (although literally none of this is gonna be novel info for you jen you live in my brain and know everything already)

okay so. as i mentioned in this post i made about them, rodolhov to me are enemies to enemies who fuck and my little one-shot of them is a sort of canon-compliant thing that i've been thinking about excessively in recent weeks....

so voldemort gives them a long-term mission of some sort wherein they have to spend a lot of time together and bc of the Tension between them (which i go into more in the post i linked above) they're basically just in one big dick-measuring contest. like they're trying to one up each other in order to win the dark lord's favour (which actually now that we mention is actually how i view quite a lot of the death eater dynamics in the first war, and i think tom probs cultivated them to be this way. but w rodolhov it's like ridiculously intensified).

both of them think that they're a thousand trillion times better than the other but in reality they're like. basically on the same level. both of them think the other isn't worthy of the dark lord's attention and spend the entire mission trying to prove it via sabotage and making the other look bad... like purposefully forgetting to tell each other about important updates or meeting points, maybe trying to kill each other a couple of times when they're in battle, that sort of thing... yk how it is

and anyway, the one-shot begins like soonish after a Big Battle in which rodolphus like. steps in front of curse that was heading directly for antonin. and they're having a big confrontation w a lot of punching each other in the face bc antonin 'doesn't need rodo's protection' and rodo is violent by nature and is enjoying the iron tang of blood in his mouth and the force of ant's fist knocking his head against the wall and then also the feeling of ant under his own fists. this is where the hot and sexy slay comes in if you couldn't tell....

i'll get a little snippet hang on, but also i should warn you that i haven't acc written anything new for this since like. december. i've just been pondering deeply and will be getting back to it when i'm less consumed by uni:

“Admit it, sweetheart,” Rodolphus moved his face closer, almost nose to nose with Dolohov now, “If I hadn’t hopped in front of it, that curse would’ve taken you out long enough for Moody to kill you” Dolohov squeezed at his neck slightly, smiling cruelly, “Does your crazy wife know that you jumped in front of a curse for another man?” Rodolphus punched him again, his face this time, hearing the sound of the other man’s nose crunching under his fist - maybe they were matching now, two bloody, broken noses.

this also lets me bring up antonin's Thing about bella which is so fucking funny to me, he haaates her, thinks she's fucking insane (which. yeah.) and always calls her roddy's 'crazy wife' bc he knows that it'll rile him up... it's funny to me firstly bc it's like so obviously some form of jealousy and secondly bc rodo like. agrees that bella is crazy. and he's not in love w her, doesn't even really care about her at all, but he'll always go on the attack when antonin mentions her bc of his like 'duty' to his marriage if that makes sense

like we were talking about the other day, jen, bella is doing something objectively insane and antonin is giving rodolphus a look like 'Crazy Wife!!!' but rodo's just looking back 'wdym? this is normal? watch your mouth.' while internally completely agreeing.... so silly to me

anyway also! the confrontation they're having in the snippet eventually leads to them fucking nasty <3 and then the next time they're in a battle, rodolphus pushes antonin into the trajectory of a curse that nearly kills him <3 they fuck again when he gets better <3 etc etc etc

the thing about the founders trilogy, and maybe this is just because im listening to the audiobook and i really dislike the narrator, is that 40% of it is just frustrating overexplaining of concepts we already know bc we've been here for three books!! and even in book 1 there was so much of it that was unnecessary. so big chunks of the book your just beating yourself over the head like "can we get on with it??"

and then the rest of it is just. fantastic. the magic system! the characters! the plot! the stakes! its such a unique magnificent world to be in! i just want the actual sentences to reflect that, ya know?
