First of all, im in like episode 250 and so far he hasnt been shown attracted to any woman at all during the whole show so far, not even when one changed clothes in the same room as him and this is anime so you know there were other characters with bloody noses and shit. Its cool af trust me.] When he was little he made a promise to his best friend that he'd be the best swordsman in the world. He got stuck in a chimney. While his crewmates sail their ship he takes naps. He learned how to cut through metal by fighting a guy who could turn his body into metal blades. That's metal. He refuses to fight this liberal marine officer because she looks like his childhood best friend and its just understandably really awkward for him. He's autistic. He's a he/him bisexual lesbian. He's a gay man. He's ace/aro. He's whatever you want him to be babey!!

He not only has a sword he has *three* swords. He's absolutely gay there's no way to see this man as straight. Also one time he licked his sword for no reason and that was really funny to me so I had to mention it

Look, this man thinks about three things: Swords, His Captain, and Booze. He’s on a quest to be the worlds greatest swordsman. The Live action has a scene where he declares his undying, unwavering loyalty to his captain WHILE reaffirming his promise to be the worlds greatest swordsman. At this point His dream and his Captain are so intertwined it’s crazy. Man is so sword-y he’s got three of them. When one of his swords broke he carried its empty scabbard until he was able to give it a SWORD FUNERAL. He hears a sword is cursed and takes that as a challenge. He will literally tell his swords off for “bad behavior” when they “act up” due to being straight up cursed. He tests one by throwing it in the air and sticking his arm out to see if it is so blood thirsty and ill tempered that it will cut him. Even though he’s literally the first mate if you ask him what his role is he’s going to answer Swordsman.

He's dedicated his life to two things: becoming the greatest swordsman in the world and his captain, Luffy. 

He mastered the three sword style. Its his style. It would've been more swords but he could only fit one sword in each hand and one in his mouth. He wants to be the world's greatest swordsman, a deal he made with his childhood best frenemy (before she died falling down the stairs). He thought he was All That at the start and was almost completely decimated by the actual Worlds Greatest Swordsman. Now, after two years forced training with that guy, he's probably in the top tier no-doubt, and honestly could already be the best but we just don't know for sure yet. Also, did I mention: he's got the whole demon/devil imagery going on at times. And he has absolutely no sense of direction! plus is a total softie when it comes to Chopper and all the children who somehow gravitate towards him. And he loves naps!

One of the guy's main goals in life is to be the best sword fighter and he fights with three swords which I think is telling enough of his skill.

my favourite scene is the one where Sayaka turns off all her pain receptors to battle the shadow witch, uncaring of the damage dealt to her body, because what is a body but a decaying vessel you must eventually abandon anyway? that was very depression of her <3 Also there’s that one time (in the rebellion movie) where Sayaka stabs herself on her own sword to release the witch that dwells within her. and then she immediately gets up to fight back to back with her girlfriend. that moment lives rent free in my head. Sayaka is so depression and I love her for it:)

Aventuriene is one of my favorite character and a favorite make character. Honestly, I'm not a fan of male HSR characters. I love Luka, but now Aventuriene scored him higher. Blade and Dan Heng are interesting but I don't super love them, I do like em though. At first I dislike Dr. Ratio becouse he seemed to me judgemental, but then I realise I misunderstood him and Penecony even made me love his character. I know that's lots of fans Sino for Jung Yuan and Sunday, but in my opinion they are to overted and I think their design is boring.

Now here is what I love about Aventuriene. At first, I liked his design but I was also neutral to him. I wasn't fan of his personality but after watching the play troughs (since I'm taking a break from playing the game) I changed my mind. I like how realistically Aventuriene is written. I realize that there still others HSR characters written realistically, but honestly Aventuriene is the male character that is written like a real person, and not just as fan service. Of course that's is my personal opinion and I understand if you have the different one.

I genuinely think that Aventurine is probably the best written character in hsr. Since 2.0 it was pretty obvious hoyo handles his character well, the leaks only confirmed it, but holy shit, they did so good in 2.1. They managed to deliver his story and make him sympathetic but without overdoing it to the point when it feels like a tearjerker. Like, you look at him and think "yes, it's a very realistic trauma response. yes, he has a lot of conflicted feelings about pretty much everything, from his religion to his own life and I would probably feel like that too". Honestly I'm so happy Shaoji was the main writer for Penacony arc even if he caused me a lot of stress lmao

I remember the first time I saw Aventurine's design I thought he looks cool. I also remember me and my friend joking that he looks like he's Reigen Arataka coded. I named him mr scammer and all that 💀 People make mistakes okay. Then I learned he's from the IPC and said yeah you lost me here I don't fuck with capitalists. Then the whole "slave" tattoo discussion started and he caught my attention again, then the 2.0 happened and well.

I like the rest of the male cast too tho and for a very long time Gepard was my favorite, so I didn't plan on pulling for Aven since I already have a blonde preservation bbg. Well, things change 💀 I get yiu about Ratio, I wanted to punch him the first time I saw him but like. Affectionately. He was funny af to me. I like the way they handle his character so far tho and I honestly have a lot of thoughts about his arc.

I think the thing with a lot of hsr characters, both male and female, is that we didn't have enough time with them yet. Which is not a bad thing since the story has basically just begun. It may be more noticeable for the male characters since its fewer of them tho. Plus the Lofu storyline was a bit messy in general tbh, I hope they'll handle it better in the future. Since we now have the POV switch mechanic, there are a lot of great opportunities to let us understand the characters better.

- Ichiya: Modified Eliter, this one was fabricated to pierce through salmonid shields, is enough powerful to create a hole in a wall. He doesn't use it anymore since he moved out to Haikara City

-Ikkan: Modified Dynamo, he got to learn how to modify weapons but they tend to be dangerous, he made ichiya's Eliter

-Namida: Blaster, she has an inner craziness that is limited throught out her terrible fear to deal with people

-Murasaki: Trislosher, wasa present given by Namida, even though he doesn't play them much he uses it

ABXY

-Paruko: Can't play turf wars and doesn't enjoy them anyways

-Noiji: Clash blaster, 1) It's noisy 2) It's chaotic, enjoys to play only league with Raian

-Raian: Shooters, Brellas, He isn't big of a player but enjoys collecting old vintage weapons

-Shikaku: Can't play??? but watches the matches of Noiji and his best friend Raian

-Taka: Nzap, he's terrible at playing but feels he looks cool posing with the weapon, however he's number 1 Kuze's fan (he's like a father to him)

-Nishida: He's too of a busy man to even show sny interest on it, he is also really supportive with Kuze

-Kuze: Slayer, Midliner, He's versatile with his weapons, he usually plays with .52 Gal or Nozzlenose. Despite his Drummer career, he won important matches and ended with his team on the top 100 leaderboard of the entire Country

Wet Floor

-Mizole: Wet Floor branded new inkbrush, yeah it's like a mop but acts the same as a normal inkbrush, his ink color is actually cyan

-Kagi: Bloblober, his skin tone doesn't allow him to enter in many matches tho

-Rayan: Wet Floor branded splat dualies, yes they have an entire set of wet floor weapons themed in cleaning products

-Tsumabushi, I think his species can swim in ink but,,, can't give him a weapon, he seems to like other stuff

-Kazami, Crabs can't play turf wars but find the new splatana wiper really cute

-Ryū-chang, Octobrush,his long lineage led him to use this one, as he says he loves his "big slappy". He also performs tradicional calligraphy with it

Meet Will Darling and his emotional support knife.

This is book one of a three-book series called the Will Darling Adventures. Also, it's by KJ Charles, which means it's a reference to some type of literature you may or may not have read (in this case, pulp adventure novels from the early 20th century). Don't let that deter you.

The books follow Will Darling, a WWI vet, and his growing relationship with Kim Secretan, a spy. There's a lot of plot, a few Shakespeare references, some excellent supporting characters, and the 1920s, a time of great social change and upheaval.

The books are fun and filled with political intrigue, but also very frothy in the scenery-chewing department. They move quick and I found them hard to put down. There are background lesbians, too, in one of the sweeter relationships that I kind of wish had gotten its own story.

As a whole, the three books have quite a lot of sex scenes, which Charles handles well. She's an excellent writer and I've learned a lot from her (and her blog, which is often cited as a must-read for beginning romance writers). Anyway, 10/10, spy stuff is cool AF, go read it.

She was born into a cult where she was raped when she was 4. Her mother lost her shit after she was branded into the cult and went on a killing spree. She was put into her aunts custody where a member of the cult switched bleach and Cool-aid and she drank it. After she got put in her dads custody and her other aunt burned her dads house to the ground almost killing her. She was forced to live as a servant to her where she was raped and had to care for her aunts kid. Her uncle killed the aunts husband (He was the main abuser) and let her live with his family. But his wife had problems with her PTSD episodes and kicked her out where her uncle let her live with her future abusive ex husband Redd. She was happy for a bit making friends at the city but it never last as Redd abused her and make her leave her friends.

Z- Zombie: How do they react when their BELOVED is upset? How would they react when they were to die?

Would be devastated but would continue to live because of the twins if Tom died. If he's feeling upset, she will try to cheer him up by doing things he likes like go golfing and stuff

Man, I'm thinking about Sonic 06 again. I know it's a terrible game questionable decisions and a troubled development, but you know? 12 year old me and currently 30 year old me probably appreciated it best for the concepts, characters, music, and basically everything BESIDES the gameplay.

Like, Shadow was handled SUPRISINGLY well. Not a single connection to his past, just him getting entangled in the plot and trying to figure out Mephiles, and coming to terms with being hunted and sealed away in the future. The unshakeable friendship with Rouge, the hurt he hides well upon finding out Omega was programmed to seal him away, sort of becoming a brief mentor to Silver when they uncover the truth, and the bad ass line that is "If the world chooses to become my enemy, I'll fight like I always have" when faced with a demon that refuses to die and releasing his inhibitor rings- previously only done in game against The Final Hazard. Gameplay wise, his homing multi attack and chaos drive was actually pretty cool, especially with his red aura. Also Jason Griffith sounded really cool.

Silver himself is also incredibly overhated and underrated by fans and SEGA themselves. His character design is pretty cool, his powers are unique, and his backstory is sad and understandable when you realize he's even younger than Sonic. Watching him lose his friends- Amy when she finds out Sonic was his target after they bonded, PROBABLY his first friend he's made other than Blaze; and Blaze acting as his rock to keep him steady and SACRIFICING HERSELF to save the future, leaving him alone AGAIN. Yeah its complicated and never explained properly how she came there, but god it's such a cool dynamic. Sonic p06 actually is helping to show off just how cool of a character he could have been to control, especially by taking his cutscene speed into account.

Now Elise is complicated. It is definitely weird they had her fall in love with Sonic and kiss him back to life- however, if we ignore that, the friendship she was building with Sonic and their adventures together was actually rather sweet in it's own way. Perhaps if they simply wrote out the romance angle and simply kept it to admiration and friendship, then she would have been better accepted- like at least she's not Chris from Sonic X, cmon. Sonic being this fun guy that's there to teach her how to relax or to just be a fun, non political figure in her life is such a fun idea, too, being honest, its a fun trope that's been around forever and i never tire of it. Sonic isn't really one that needs a ton of character development because part of his charm is just how free, brave, and a bit happy go lucky he is in spite of the dangers around him. Really, their friendship could have been a lot like how KH handles the humans being friends with Mickey, Donald, and Goofy, with surprising wisdom, silliness, and bravery coming from the cartoony animal friend and the very human character learning a lot from them and growing. It would certainly help if Elise maybe hung out with other characters, too (maybe have that bit in the beginning where she sees Silver again actually play out).

I think the biggest loss from the retcon at the end was losing Mephiles. Mephiles as a villain was INCREDIBLE considering everything wrong with the game. Cold, calculated, scheming, not to mention Dan Green just bringing his absolute BEST here, like it's very rare to see a character like him in Sonic games, let alone the way he manipulates people by... not exactly lying. Sonic in a way WAS the Iblis Trigger- Mephiles killed him and Elise released Iblis. The way he presented only the cold truths to Shadow- he's a devil, but not wrong, because everyone did turn their backs on Shadow. His designs, too, are cool af- Shadow on a conceptual level was meant to be Sonic's shadow and fold, but Mephiles became that for Shadow QUITE LITERALLY by taking his form for himself, and this time it ACTUALLY makes sense and isn't just a huge coincidence. Going even further with the demonic form is icing on the cake, especially considering just 1 game ago, that could have been Shadow himself if he gave into Black Doom's temptations. Mephiles is such an interesting villain, but alas he was retconned out of existence and doomed to a bad game, so I doubt he'll even return in Shadow Generations.

Then the entire concept of the story involving time travel, adding more abilities that can be used with the Chaos Emeralds (time travel and soul... binding? Sealing?), the ruins, the Venice inspired city itself, the landing wasn't there but the ingredients WERE. So was the gameplay, 06 could have easily been Sonic Adventure 3, and they probably avoided that title because they knew the game would be a bust. Ugh. Ugh. But the MUSIC. FUCKING HELL THE MUSIC. His World is probably the best game theme from the entire franchise (so much so they made 17 versions lol), and Dreams of an Absolution CHANGED something in me as a kid. Shit, I'm still listening to Aquatic Base and Kingdom Valley all these years later.

Also... maybe controversial, I liked these models the best. The current ones are too short and plastic looking tbh. We'll, for Sonic, Shadow, Silver, Omega, and Blaze, the rest are definitely weird but the longer legs actually fit Silver pretty well with his boots in comparison to later 3d models.

Oh man. I don't think I'll ever get over this. I've had to come to terms with a lot of "what could have beens" in my life but I don't think I'll ever fully get over what was lost here. The potential for what could have been the best Sonic game ever and a game that could have defined a generation, LOST because some jackasses up top demanded that Christmas money. A development cycle so awful that Yuji Naka left Sonic Team, as did many other devs working on the game... Splitting the already struggling team down even FURTHER to try and make 06 for the Wii, realizing that the Wii was not going to be as powerful as the 360/ps3, and deciding to turn that into Secret Rings (oh look MORE squandered potential). Introducing characters that are cool as shit, only to be forever scarred by the fact they appeared in a bad game. Not only this, but said bad game had Sonic's friends in it, making it so assholes in reviewing would go on this "Sonic and his shitty friends" tyrade that would result in us not really getting to play any other characters in an official capacity until QUITE recently... as dlc for Frontiers. Or Shadow, but in Forces he was just Sonic again.

I hope that when ChaosX finishes up with p-06, fans can somehow work together to create a more cohesive story to really rectify what could have been, complete with better character development and some major plot holes either explained or filled in. In my heart, I would really love 06 to get a redemption arc and go from one of the worst Sonic games ever (Boom now holds that title- again, squandered potential) to one of the BEST ever. Like so good that even SEGA says "actually THIS is canon now." Idk, it'd be so much vindication for middle schooler DD.

God I've actually prayed to see the universe where 06 became Adventure 3, or 07/08 instead and was the best game ever. Like many things in life, I'll probably never get to see or play it in it's fully realized state.

I love how all three borothers Theerapanyakul have such main character energy. No wonder they can't all live in the same house. When do you think Kim realized mafia tower wasn't big enough for the three of them? Do you think he got his first cool haircut & jacket when he was like 12, and the writing was on the wall?

This is something I have actually been dying to talk about so get ready. The Theerapanyakul brothers do something very very interesting in terms of storytelling that I find absolutely genius and it honestly drives me a little crazy, and that is that not only are you absolutely correct and all three brothers are Main Character AF, but they made Kinn the Least Interesting One, and in doing so made him the Perfect main character/love interest.

Like, they really made the Active Decision to make his older and younger brothers these batshit amalgamations of personality traits and backstory bullshit that make them So Bonkers and Main Character that every single new thing you learn about them just damns Kinn deeper and deeper into being a true Middle Child. And if they did it literally any other way then Kinn would have been so easily dismissed into any number of stereotypes that made him way less likable and sympathetic, and would have made him a way worse match for Porsche. He could have been just the rich entitled jerk, just the domineering mob boss, just the promiscuous hot guy, but they injected him with just enough Loser in the family who isn't even The Cool One that instead he lands as hopelessly charming and relatable.

Like, I love Kinn. So much. But he isn't the smartest brother, or the cleverest, or the best fighter. He's not the best leader, he's not the best suited to the mafia life, he doesn't handle violence the best. Tankhun is too damaged to lead and yet repeatedly plays the "only one on the room who is right who should probs be giving the orders" role, and Kim is... well he's terrifying while still being only half in the game, if he became the head of the family the city would burn. And then you have Kinn who is the epitome of "only doing this because SOMEONE has to"

First of all, im in like episode 250 and so far he hasnt been shown attracted to any woman at all during the whole show so far, not even when one changed clothes in the same room as him and this is anime so you know there were other characters with bloody noses and shit. Its cool af trust me.] When he was little he made a promise to his best friend that he'd be the best swordsman in the world. He refuses to fight this liberal marine officer because she looks like his childhood best friend and its just understandably really awkward for him. He's autistic. He's a he/him bisexual lesbian. He's a gay man. He's ace/aro. He's whatever you want him to be babey!!

Look, this man thinks about three things: Swords, His Captain, and Booze. He’s on a quest to be the worlds greatest swordsman. The Live action has a scene where he declares his undying, unwavering loyalty to his captain WHILE reaffirming his promise to be the worlds greatest swordsman. At this point His dream and his Captain are so intertwined it’s crazy. Man is so sword-y he’s got three of them. When one of his swords broke he carried its empty scabbard until he was able to give it a SWORD FUNERAL. He hears a sword is cursed and takes that as a challenge. He will literally tell his swords off for “bad behavior” when they “act up” due to being straight up cursed. He tests one by throwing it in the air and sticking his arm out to see if it is so blood thirsty and ill tempered that it will cut him. Even though he’s literally the first mate if you ask him what his role is he’s going to answer Swordsman.

He's dedicated his life to two things: becoming the greatest swordsman in the world and his captain, Luffy. 

He mastered the three sword style. Its his style. It would've been more swords but he could only fit one sword in each hand and one in his mouth. He wants to be the world's greatest swordsman, a deal he made with his childhood best frenemy (before she died falling down the stairs). He thought he was All That at the start and was almost completely decimated by the actual Worlds Greatest Swordsman. Now, after two years forced training with that guy, he's probably in the top tier no-doubt, and honestly could already be the best but we just don't know for sure yet. Also, did I mention: he's got the whole demon/devil imagery going on at times. And he has absolutely no sense of direction! plus is a total softie when it comes to Chopper and all the children who somehow gravitate towards him. And he loves naps!

One of the guy's main goals in life is to be the best sword fighter and he fights with three swords which I think is telling enough of his skill.

Who would you say is the biggest sucker in the family? The Twin Prides of Yunmeng? Total suckers. JGY always knows, but he likes to be the indulgent uncle. LXC is too restrained, but LWJ can sometimes be persuaded.

Yanli: naturally inclined towards being incredibly indulgent (see: how she raised WWX and JC) but when you've got six kids that's just... not really a sustainable parenting attitude, so she becomes an expert in Kind But Firm.

Zixuan: starts out being an absolute sucker because he's generally not great at handling conflict so would rather just give kids what they want, but as all parents do, he learns on the job, and he gets better at being firm. his confidence as a person increases in leaps and bounds once his dad's out of the picture, and that does show in his parenting.

the rest under the cut as it got long

Mingjue: feels very strongly about being firm and disciplined and not letting kids get away with bad behaviour, but... he probably won't follow through too strictly, and well... Huaisang still winds up getting pretty much everything he wants, so secretly Mingjue really is kind of a sucker (but don't tell anyone)

Xichen: surprisingly not a sucker - like Yanli his natural impulse is to be indulgent, but he is still a Lan, so he does have strong feelings about the importance of rules and discipline, and expects a certain standard of behaviour from kids in his care. though he does also feel very strongly about being more compassionate and understanding with the next generation, so he is more likely to use rewards and praise to get good behaviour than punishment.

JGY: will be as indulgent as he reasonably can for as long as he possibly can until that conflicts with something Important, like the child's safety or health. he grew up in poverty so now he's rich af he takes every opportunity to utterly spoil all of the kids around him - partly because gift-giving is very much a love-language for him, partly because the uncomplicated affection of little kids is so important to him. not really so much of a sucker though as he is good at putting his foot down when he needs to, and all kids know not to mess with him when he gives a warning.

Wangji: WAY more of a sucker than anyone expects, but pretty much exclusively with his kid - mostly because little A-Yuan is so quiet and well-behaved (and traumatised) that Wangji really just wants to give him everything he could ever want. he is surprisingly chill with other kids though, as after WWX died Wangji likes to keep his memory alive by letting the kids he likes break inconsequential rules - but if the kids are bratty and unpleasant and he doesn't like them, he has no mercy.

JC: absolute sucker. pretends to be cranky and grumpy about it but that's just how he shows he cares. in the happy AU he's even more of a sucker than in canon because he's purely an uncle, rather than a primary caregiver, so if the kids wind up annoying and ridiculously spoiled, well, that's someone else's problem.

WWX: naturally inclined to be a sucker, but when he comes back he is perturbed to realise that Lan Zhan is the indulgent parent, and refuses to budge from that position so... does that mean HE has the be the STRICT parent??? what the hell, Lan Zhan??? (he's not very good at it, and delights in being indulgent to most kids in a way that irritates other parents)

Huaisang: sucker and proud! giving kids whatever they want is fun, unless it's something that he doesn't want to do, or it's, like, gross. at which point he'll just hand the kid back to their parents.

Qin Su: generally a healthy balance of firm and indulgent, leaning more on the indulgent side - they way her parents were with her. she'd probably be more strict if she had her own kids, but with her niblings she does enjoy being a Cool Aunt. easily bribed with cuddles and kisses!

Xuanyu: I don't feel like it counts as being a sucker if he's pretty much the same age as the kids. when he gets older, his approach is to be Down With The Kids in order to persuade them to do what he wants. the day kids start referring to him as an adult, or old, is the day he has a major crisis.

This is a solid, clever induction. It's well paced, and I love the focus on the process. I would caution readers to be careful - it's written well enough that I could see it catching a reader up in the induction, if they're particularly visual or a skilled enough hypnotee. But having said that, I really enjoy the story. The framing is solid, and makes sense for the song title, and sets our intrepid reporter up for exactly this sort of thing. 9/10 spirals.

"Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely" - A British Lord (Acton? I think?) said this a long time ago, and this story really digs into that whole concept. It's an interesting premise, and I like the Professor's way of convincing the Devil to actually take the gift back - or to invert it, I suppose. It brings up rather a large number of philosophical quesitons, but now I also want to use this as a suggestion sometime for a particular partner.  8/10 spirals, and thanks for the inspiration, Jukebox!

*grins* Have I mentioned that vampires are one of my favourite tropes yet? Because they ARE. And this? The twisting, the command and domination and just all of it? It helps that I have a soft spot for Milwaukee, where this story is set, but even without that, the flavor of role play for magic domination, an induction I could let myself get lost in if I wanted, and relating to that whole "being too shy to approach a cute girl without adding in hypnosis/mind control" thing makes this an easy 10/10 spirals. (also, I totally stole inspiration to melt one of my girlfriends into a blissed out, Dominated puddle, which was DELIGHTFUL, so thanks, Jukebox!)

This is a fascinating setup! It'd be really cool to see an expansion on this world, as the metal spreads and people learn how to fight it. I find myself invested in Leigh, and cheering her on the whole way. And the logic in play, the conclusions drawn, and what's being ignored/forgotten all work together really well to drive this story on. It doesn't hit me as super erotic, outside the temptation Leigh deals with, the I love it all the same. 10/10 for world/plot/story, 2/10 for erotica; I'll give it overall 8/10 spirals.

Judy is clever, and handles no-verbal cues so well. Unethical AF, of course, but still. I appreciate the show of her skill, how she uses "you" in a clever way, the use of a hypnotized ��person as a focus just makes it even easier, because it's a convincer and seeing someone be hypnotized can nudge someone into hypnosis, or help anyway, just the technique here is solid. And the idea of having three brainwashed hypnoslaves... well, I have enough of a dominant side to see why that could be quite fun, yes - especially when Jukebox gives all the little signs of them falling into Judy's power and control. 9/10 spirals

Aww, this story is sweet, and for all there's a lot of sex within it, the way the sex is used for the purpose of brainwashing our POV character makes it work for me in a way it might not otherwise. There's such clear affection between these two, and the way he just melts for her  and lets all her words control him in so many ways is absolutely delightful. This is the sort of story that feels just a bit fictionalized but could be (mostly) true in a way I really enjoy, too. 10/10 spirals.

On the one hand, this feels just sufficiently voyeuristic that I feel a bit ... something? reading it. On the other hand, it's *so sweet* and I can HEAR people I care about in James and - especially! - Thea. The sense of connection, of happy chance to meet for even just a little while, is also one I relate to, having had quite a lot of experience with long-distance relationships. And it makes the story so good for me, because gosh I *can* hear the reality of hypnokinksters doing it. That all said, I *do* hope Thea gave Amber a proper lecture on the etiquette of inserting oneself in another's scene and some basic safety around hypnokink. >.> 7/10 spirals.

Xanadu

This is another one of those Jukebox stories that don't really feel like erotic mind control stories as much as just *really solid* short stories. It hits me less as mind control and more (very) long term conditioning, which ok, fine, at some point the line between those two things is flimsy at best, but still. Having said that, the world in which this Xanadu exists is fascinating, and I'm intrigued by a lot of the questions posted by the existance of the magic air here. As a story, 10/10. As an *erotic mind control* story? 6/10 spirals.

Ok, secondary note after having properly listened to Rush's song Xanadu, from which I assume this story takes its name. Miriam really ought to have listened to Xanadu herself before she went searching for Xanadu - she might have thought better of it, had she sat with the song a while, seeing as how the song itself calls Xanadu a prison at the end. With the context of the Rush song? This jumps up to 8/10 spirals for me.

Oh, there's SO MUCH in this story I like. I'd somehow completely missed it in the past, and ... I kind of regret it, but I don't think I would have appreciated it the way I do now. The idea of a scent as a hypnotic focus is a newer thing for me, and the moment of teasing the concept adds to the "how exactly is this going to go?" moment in a way that wouldn't have stuck with me in years previous. The focus in play is all the better for being surprised by what it is, and that's easier to be surprised by when so many things are given as options. And the last part of the story - which I shan't spoil! - is absolutely delightful. 9/10 spirals

My Obligatory Fate The Winx Saga S2 Rant

Spoilers below the cut for those who would like to read. This is different than my usual content but I have thoughts that need to go somewhere

I’m going to just organize this in a bullet list but before I do I think it’s worth saying that as much as I shit on S1, this season was miles better but they still have things to work on.

What I liked:

Did I say Riven?

This man’s character growth was amazing and well handled

MUSA AND RIVEN?

Loved loved loved! Happy that they are setting them up for a healthy relationship - kind of the only reason I want a S3

The overall dynamic of the Winx was better but still has a lot of needed improvement (which I will touch on in the next section)

Trix next season??

Aisha and Grey. I really hope they redeem his character because I really did like him but I knew from the beginning it was too good to be true

Oh, and Riven

And we better get a Brandon next season because Stella needs someone in her corner

What I did not like:

Beatrix’s character was all over the place and her death was super sudden and unearned

Also it was all of them choosing to just love her after? Like don’t get me wrong she did a few good things here and there but at almost every choice she chose to screw them over… even Stella who was supposed to be her new bestie

Speaking of Stella, her so called friends were not doing it for me. Idc what Stella told them that girl was obviously not okay! Check up on her! She is your friend!

Flora was iffy for me. Very much not like OG Flora - didn’t hate her but also didn’t really like her

Tera needed her but kicked this season. Acted like an a hole and no one called her out except Riven and Flora (one of which no one listed to because of his reputation and the other who dropped it a little to easy for my liking)

I’m glad she got to live her truth and feel comfortable coming out but that is no excuse to treat people the way she did

And blaming Musa for Sam leaving? Don’t get me wrong playing with people’s emotions like that was not cool but Sam was always going to leave after Rosalind took over. It was inevitable and it was because of their dad (who was being a weak ass bitch but that’s neither here nor there)

Also hate that their making Musa hate her powers. I wish they would have her embrace them and learn how to control them and use them to her advantage during specialist training

Plus I think it would be so much smarter in this world that all fairies take some defense training but I’m not running the school so….

Rosalind’s writing was all over the place

The Silva, Andreas, Sky story line was played out way to long and didn’t really go anywhere except cause unnecessary drama

How do they know about so much first world stuff? Netflix?? TED TALKS???

What I absolutely detested:

Still hate the transformations

Fairies haven’t been able to access this magic for hundreds of years but a TEN SECOND CONVERSATION can allow Tera, Aisha, and Stella to get it on the first try???? That math isn’t mathing

The transformation sequence was dumb and cringy for it not to lead to a more drastic change (i.e like how their outfits changed in the OG)

Their wings look dumb as fuck to me still and some of them don’t seem to fit their powers or personality

I think I also hate them more than maybe I should because they look dumb with just normal people clothes

You really could have just given them an edgier version of their charmix outfits and I think I would vibe with it more (there is still time to fix it but I don’t hold out much hope)

What even are Rosalind’s powers? She was just doing everything with no explanation

VALTOR?

was always adamant that he didn’t particularly like animals. they were okay, but not his thing. he would respect them from a distance and call it a day… until thorn brought a three-legged tooka to his office with a “quick take it i gotta go on senator duty and it needs a home okay by vod see you later!”

fox didn’t want to be around the tooka as much as the tooka wanted to be around him but after a few hours, he couldn’t resist the 🥺 eyes. thorn came back for it and the poor thing didn’t want to leave. now ehn (mando’a for 3) will perch on fox’s shoulder when at his desk doing flimsiwork and is his baby. if anything ever happened to ehn, think john wick level retaliation

ehn is trained to do some p cool stuff. fox put a tooka tree by the keypad of the door and she can lock it on command. she can also retrieve certain things for him (first aid kit, datapad, flask, etc.) and she is prone to meowing over the voices of ppl that are clearly upsetting fox

if you don’t like/respect ehn or she doesn’t trust your vibes, good luck getting anywhere with fox. he trusts her vibe checks implicitly and her word is gospel

his love languages are acts of service and quality time (and sometimes said quality time can involve cuddles if both parties are consenting)

the moment ehn brushes up against your legs and purrs like a motor (hope you’re not allergic), fox resigns himself to falling head over heels for you

on the heartbreaking occasion that you’re allergic to tookas, fox teaches ehn a new command, greet, so that way ehn says hi and you don’t break out (or worse)

after getting ehn, fox is much more understanding of why/how hound loves grizzer the way he does and will sometimes even pat the massif on the head here and there where he used to stay a respectable distance away

what about like the moment you open up about your relationship with kazuxiao the fans who were already seeing that happen were celebrating and on both of y'alls insta or something is where you announce and it's like a picture of all 3 of you chilling together or something

and then when they finally appear on a variety show they're just questioned throughly and they talk about how you guys meet and what they like about you

ok but the moments where you just feel sort of insecure since being an idol is hard and you're technically dating your seniors and you're just hit by the antis who are against yourself relationship so you lock yourself in your room in your dorm by yourself to cope. your roommate (can be whoever) contacts them both and they immediately come over and come in and offer soft kisses and soft murmurs of reassurance that they'll never leave you and that everything's gonna be ok.

side note i can see xiao just being a whole meme without realizing?? for like variety shows he's just known for his dead pan expression and then i can see him being so competitive on shows like running man..mans ripping tags left and right, while kazuhas just hiding in a weird spot or something

kazuha on the other hand i can see him being a troll, he likes to mess around with the hosts of the show and manages to mess up some of their plans, he also likes messing with his group members, where xiao likes to say that kazuha looks innocent but is a part of the devil line with venti

onto albedo i can see him like answering questions in his vlive and fans realize that a lot of his songs are more romantic and sort of pining?? and they're asking where the motivation is from. he answers that it's just something that he saw recently so he felt motivated (it wasn't the fact that he had realized that he was 100% in love with you)

but like all of this mans inspiration comes from you, he's had multiple songs dedicated to you before your relationship was even open to the public, and when your relationship finally does, it just clicks for fans and it suddenly makes sense, your ship name trends worldwide for the day

but how you and albedo met, i can see both of you guys being in the industry already and you guys are sort of know each other but it was for a one time off collab with other artists involved so you didn't really talk with each other. like i said before albedos a solo artist while i can see you being a part of a popular group already. but then both of your companies decided to do another collab and especially picked you two since you guys already worked on a collab before.

at first it was like awkward since albedos really socially awkward but then things click when you guys start writing the song together. everything just matches so well?? and you guys just compliment each other?? and that's when you learn of albedo just staying at the studio so late so you often bring food. this leads to you guys getting closer and albedo even stops his work just to talk to you more. when your song comes out and everyone is waiting for the stage, there's just so much tension?? but the good kinda and everyone is awed by the song and the vocals coming from you and albedo.

i can also see the both of you guys appearing on variety shows together too, like appearing on a show where you two travel to another place and experience the culture there, with albedo being your tour guide and showing you all the famous places (one of the many times where fans were awed by his research and knowledge) and then if you guys were to appear together again after you guys reveal your relationship, a lot of the times they show idols as they wake up, they'll see you and albedo being clingy af to each other.

on another side note, albedos totally a troll on variety shows, he likes messing around with the hosts and other contestants since a lot of the time he's not really interested in the show itself, it's more for publicity. however, when he first appeared on a show with you fans noticed that he actually seemed interested for once and that's where your ship name started.

albedos totally a golden child tho, he's like basically perfect in everything so a lot of the times variety shows don't catch him slipping, however the one time that he did was when you were mentioned, the clip of with his ears bright red was trending for a couple of days :)

Okay okay but like for the 'announcement' picture, what if it's like those photo booth pics (but like each picture you need to scroll through like on Insta) where it's cute and wholesome! The three of you are having fun wearing some silly glasses or hats, doing peace signs or finger hearts....and the very last photo is the three of you sharing a kiss- or, at least trying to.

It's sweet, a little silly, and most of your fans take it really well! After all, they can see the chemistry that you share and can't deny that the three of you would have a good relationship.

As for the insecurities of dating your seniors, Kazuha and Xiao are quick to knock back any of those worries. They love you so, so much and hate the fact that something like that makes you doubt for a single second. If anyone ever tries to bring it up, you know that they're going to immediately quip back.

Naturally, you're roomed with Venven :D He's technically an up-and-coming after he stopped doing idol stuff for a few years, so not only does he know the ropes, but he's also one of your biggest fans and biggest supports (outside of Kazuha and Xiao).

Though he's silly and light-hearted, he's quick to recognize when things are serious and need handling.

So as soon as he sees that you're not doing so great or if he notices the comments on your posts are going in a bad direction, he speed dials Xiao and the two of your boyfriends are right at the door in under 15.

Not only are they fast about it, but they have all your favorite snacks, a movie or two, some popcorn, and a ton of love and affection because they'll be damned if their love is going to be affected by some asshole's comments about their love life! What do they know anyway??

BUT THE GAMESHOWS

Xiao would most certainly be super intense with those. He just can't help it--competition drives his blood and makes something snap in him. He's dead serious about doing well, regardless of the game. I actually have never watched said game shows, but--

Like...he's out for blood. No one is safe. Not even you or Kazuha if you're on opposing teams, though he'll be a bit more gentle. Maybe even with the hint of a smile while you have an expression of utter shock at the fact that he's just so fast-

Or if it's not a game show and instead you're doing some sort of idol group activity with a few others to get to know each other?

Someone suggests ping pong and, knowing how competitive Xiao gets, he's pitted up against Tartaglia and man. That's scary. There's no doubt that someone would clip the video and make it into an overly-dramatic retelling complete with music.

Hilarious.

As for Kazuha! He'd be a bit of a mish mosh! He enjoys poking fun at others, and he's so sly! Those poor hosts don't realize that he's goading them on, but sure enough--he is. Who knew that his charming smile and mild-mannered attitude could be so devastating?

But even then, he's mostly wholesome! There's a lot of little clips, mostly of your doing, of him in a 'kiss the chef' apron getting caught off guard while cooking something up. The videos aren't great because you're giggling while recording and he ends up placing the ladle down calmly before wrapping you up in his arms. Half the video ends up being the two of you laughing and joking while it's pointed at a weird angle towards the counter.

Sometimes it'll point just right and you'll get a half-blurred view of Xiao sitting at the kitchen island with his reading glasses perched on his nose and book forgotten. He tends to get up and join in for a few smooches before reminding Kazuha of the food that's still cooking.

Albedo!! He absolutely is the golden child. He's fantastic handling things under pressure in a cool, calm manner. Handsome, charismatic, incredibly smart--man's hit all the stops and just keeps going.

It's not until it comes out that the two of you are together that his cool façade (hardly one, though) falters and at the mere mention of you, he'll go soft. There's a tenderness in his eyes, a small smile on his lips, and his blush? Absolutely adorable. How can anyone object when he's obviously so in love with you?

And the idea you mentioned with the two of you traveling and experiencing stuff together sounds so cute (':

There's also a few times where you two have gotten lost in the new places, more because you're both so busy taking in the sights to realize you've taken five wrong turns- But then you make it into a whole adventure, foregoing the map and deciding to wander around. What better way to discover and learn about somewhere than getting lost and wandering?

You find quite a few hidden gems this way since otherwise you'd be hitting more popular areas!

Ahh regardless, Albedo's definitely a cuddler. He loves it, can't get enough of it. It's not often that he gets a good night's rest, but with you it seems like he's fully recharged and ready for the day! It's cute too because it doesn't matter--big spoon or little spoon, you on his chest or him resting on yours. Even a few times with you facing each other with your hands intertwined.

I also agree that Albedo would mess with the game show's hosts and contestants. Not only would he, but he'd be entirely smug about it (after all, we need to have that #smugbedo going on).

No doubt, there's been times where the cameras even focus/zoom in on him where he's sitting because he's got that smirk on his face.
