Tanjiro

Sweet baby boy would have pink dusted all over his face.

He would go all quiet all of a sudden. But even though he turned quiet, he’s actually enjoying the moment of being accompanied by you.

Imagine gently stroking is pretty red hair and embracing his head by your chest.

He kept leaning into your touch like a lil puppy

Eventually both of you would fall asleep in each other’s arms WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA CYUTE

Sorry this one is a bit shorter than the other ones :’)

Tanjiro sat on the dirt floor of the training grounds to catch his breath after a long, tiring day of training. He laid himself on the dirt floor and stared at the shrouding clouds above, before closing his eyes to rest. While he was engulfed in a void of darkness, he noticed that he was soon enveloped by your aroma. His eyes flutter open and found you laying next to him. You nudged him closer to hug his head close to your chest before asking him about his training. “It was great! I got to improve my Total Concentration Breathing and my Hinokami Kagura techniques got even sharper!” You chuckled as you listened to Tanjiro rant about his day. You began stroking his red hair and giving him small pecks on his forehead. He enjoyed the comforting accompany you offered him that his eyelids eventually felt heavy. Every time he blinked, it became harder to open his eyes again. You stroking his hair did not help him stay awake though. Tanjiro eventually gave in to his sleepiness and entered a deep void of slumber. You found him so adorable asleep in your arms, but you felt yourself getting sleepier by the second. So, wrapped in each other’s arms, you both succumbed to deep slumber.

Bonus: While you were sleeping together, Zenitsu came to look up on Tanjiro since he already missed dinner. But upon arriving the training grounds, he saw you two in this state. Jealousy washed over him. “WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?????!! HOW COULD TANJIRO HAVE A PARTNER SOONER THAN MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE???”

Zenitsu

Bring earmuffs while your ears are still alive

When you suddenly start cuddling him he would be straight up frozen

Then start shivering like it’s the Mexican winter

But instead of being cold, he would be BOILING, to the point where there is steam coming out of his ears.

Congratulations, you turned Zenitsu into a tomato!

He would scream ear-piercingly loud while tightly clinging on to you.

“WAAAAAAAAAAA Y/N-CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN I LOVE IT WHEN YOU CUDDLE WITH MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!! YOUR THIGHS FEEL SO COMFYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY”

Zenitsu sat alone on a stone fence, under a blooming Sakura tree outside of Butterfly Mansion, eating an onigiri. Tanjiro, Inosuke and you were all on solo missions, so he ate lunch alone while waiting for you all to return. Zenitsu looked up to see the thousand tiny Sakura petals falling from the tree, reminding him how much he missed you. Just while he was distracted, you returned to the Butterfly Mansion after your solo mission. You saw Zenitsu sitting alone and felt joy to be able to see him again. You knew how much he missed you since you both kept exchanging letters while you were gone. With a small smile tugging on your face, you approached him. Zenitsu heard you approaching him and was about to turn around and greet you, but you swiftly sat down next to him, gently held his head on both sides with your two hands, laid his head on your lap and started stroking his soft golden hair. For a moment he froze, but it wasn’t long before he started shivering and turning bright red. His head immediately felt hot and he even started steaming. Zenitsu wrapped his arms around your waist (while still laying down) and began screaming. “WAAAAAAAAAAA Y/N-CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN I LOVE IT WHEN YOU CUDDLE WITH MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!! YOUR THIGHS FEEL SO COMFYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY” After hearing his overly loud screaming you froze. “EHH???” And before long, you became a flustered mess as well.

Thought you were trying to fight him lol

But when you took of his mask and start giving him soft pecks on the cheek, he thought it felt nice and comforting.

But now he’s a bit confused, weren’t you trying to fight him just a second ago?

“What the hell are you doing?”

“Just cuddling you”

“What is cuddling? What are you trying to do to Lord Inosuke!?” He’s funny lol

“Don’t worry about it, just try to feel snug and comfortable.”

Inosuke still wasn’t sure what you were trying to do but it felt nice to have you clinging to him.

You found Inosuke resting on the bed of his room after coming back from his solo mission. Bandages covered multiple parts of the injuries on his body. You heard he had taken a huge toll from this solo mission since the demon he fought during the mission was particularly strong, which explains why he seemed so exhausted. You wanted to help him feel more comfortable so that he can relax and regain his energy. So you approached him, placed both of your knees on the bed and took his boar mask off. You snaked both of your arms around his waist from behind and pecked his pretty face, before resting your head on his shoulder. Inosuke knew it was you behind him, but he wasn’t sure what you were trying to do. He at first thought you were trying to fight him, but when you started to act so intimate with him, he started to notice how comforting and nice it felt. “What the hell are you doing?” Inosuke asked you with a confused yet slightly flushed face. “Just cuddling you”. “What is cuddling? What are you trying to do to Lord Inosuke!?” You chuckled and placed a finger over his lips. “Don’t worry about it, just try to feel snug and comfortable.” Inosuke was still confused but he decided to let it slide just this once just because you make him feel so comforted and relaxed.

Swap AU Nezuko!!! Let’s gooooooo!!!!

Part two of my swap au!

I have the designs for Inosuke, Genya and Giyuu mostly finished, so you’re gonna be getting some healthy doses of art and LORE from me about them in the AU as well.

For now though, here’s what Nezuko is up to:

Tanjirou gets sick and is unable to make the trip down the mountain, and Nezuko, being the adorable second-oldest, offers to go in his stead.

When she returns, she finds all of her family dead except Tanjirou, who is nowhere to be found.

She’s discovered by Tomioka Giyuu in an unresponsive state— she won’t talk, doesn’t react even when he carries her away to Shinobu to get checked out.

Nezuko is mute from this point forward, she can still communicate in other ways, like through writing (I could see her making her own form of sign language that those who are closest to her know as well)

Even if she can’t talk, after she learns that it was a demon who slaughtered her family, Nezuko makes one thing very clear. She wants to become a demon slayer. She is out for BLOOD.

She starts out as Giyuu’s Tsugiko

NOTE: I swapped out Giyuu and Shinobu, so while they both have kept their original sets of skills, Giyuu is still the Water Hashira, and Shinobu is still adept with poison and medicine, Tomioka is the one who hides an ocean of rage with a sweet smile and Shinobu has been plagued with an impostor syndrome so bad that she’s stepped back from the fighting side of the corps entirely (I don’t see this lasting forever, but for now she is not in any position to take up the sword again.)

This is where she meets Kanao, another one of Giyuu’s Tsugiko who I have made the bold choice of swapping with Inosuke! Which means that eventually all of you will get to see unhinged Kanao who wears a terrifying giant dragonfly mask and breaks into people’s homes.

But it turns out that Nezuko, while decent with water-breathing, isn’t actually all that compatible with it. Because she was never taught the Hinokami Kagura like Tanjirou, she has to look outwards to other breathing styles for other solutions to get stronger.

Adulting: What did everyone do after the curse broke?

So, I have a LOT of headcanons as to what the different characters did after the curse broke. We do get several answers in Another, but for the answers we don't get, here's what I think happened!

Tohru: I don't think the specific nature of her job would be terribly important to her, so much as just entering into the workforce. From her outfit in the Prelude epilogue, it seems like she's not doing manual labor (like cleaning, which was what I initially thought she'd be doing, since she had experience). I wonder if she's an employee at a school; her colleague kind of looks like an elementary or middle school teacher to me. I don't think Tohru would be able to teach without further education, and she was very clear that she did not want to pursue further study. I'm not sure if Japan has classified staff/paraprofessionals or an equivalent, but I think she'd be amazing at that job. I also think she probably became a stay-at-home parent as soon as she and Kyo had the means for her to do so.

Kyo: we know he became a karate instructor, and I just bet he's a fabulous teacher. I think him eventually taking over the Sohma dojo would be a full circle moment for both him and the Sohma family.

Saki: I can honestly see a lot of different jobs for her. Some favorites that I've seen in fanfic are art gallery employee, ghost hunter, and food critic. I have her becoming a hairstylist in Bloom Within Us, after attending beauty school through correspondence. Her clients ADORE her and she uses her wave-reading to make sure they're satisfied and tell them anything they really need to hear. It's common for appointments to end with her clients crying and hugging her because she's just healed some childhood wound of theirs. I could also see her becoming a ritual mortician, preparing the departed for their funeral (which would include hair, makeup, etc...) I think she'd be really good at working with grieving families and getting the deceased to look just right.

Arisa: she worked to put herself through junior college after she moved in with Kureno (though they had the money, she insisted on doing it for herself), and became a nurse in elder care. She makes friends with the crankiest old folks and cries like a baby when one of them dies.

Yuki: I shared in my Yuki headcanons post that I see Yuki going into politics and eventually working in international relations. I see him wanting to see the world far outside of the Sohma estate.

Machi: I always pictured her becoming an accountant.

Kakeru: we know he goes to college, and that he wants to help Komaki's family with their business, so I always assumed he'd major in something that would help with that. Maybe business management?

Momiji: we know he went on to take over his father's corporation. In my Momiji headcanons post, I shared that I see him going to university in Germany, and getting his MBA (or the equivalent). I think he'd need to know this before beginning his third year, so I suspect his father sat him down at some point during his second year to bring up the possibility of taking over his business, and told Momiji of his intent to "adopt" him so he could officially be part of their family again without raising his mother's suspicions (in Japan, it's common for CEOs to adopt their successors). I think this is what would've led Momiji to pursue business instead of music. I do think music is probably still a huge part of his life; I suspect he still plays violin casually, and he probably has a season subscription to orchestras in both Tokyo and Berlin (or wherever the German branch of his father's company is).

Kagura: she studied childcare, and I actually think that's a spectacular fit for her. When she's not being a total yandere over Kyo, she's a very nurturing and big-sisterly character.

Rin: so, I think Rin would continue to have major health problems for the rest of her life, and would probably struggle to find work that accommodates her needs and doesn't trigger any of her stress-related symptoms. I think she'd have short stints in a few jobs, like maybe retail, or modeling, or something artistic or design-y, but eventually I could see her just taking commissions for her own artwork when she feels like it. She seems like someone who wants very badly to contribute, and I think it would take a lot for her to accept that her body won't let her work full-time or on someone else's schedule, but Haru (and all her friends) would gently encourage her to take better care of herself, and at some point I think she'd accept that working for someone else just isn't sustainable for her long-term. (Though, pregnancy would also be extremely risky for her, and I'm surprised they had kids, let alone TWINS.)

Haru: I love that he does metalwork and makes most of his own accessories, so I always imagine him continuing that. I could also see him picking up odd jobs (like dog-walking? why does that seem like something he'd do?) from time to time. I think an independent, artisan-type job would suit him best.

Kisa and Hiro: most of the fandom seems to have Kisa becoming a teacher and Hiro becoming a lawyer, and those are absolutely perfect jobs for them.

Ritsu and Mitsuru: I like to imagine that Ritsu goes to work for Ayame, specializing in styling traditional clothing. This is how Ritsu comes back around to wearing whatever tf he wants, which ends up being a mix of "women's" kimonos and more flamboyant menswear (like his idol, Ayame). He and Mitsuru do eventually get married, and Mitsuru's the one who ends up running the onsen, because that girl deserves to relax!!!

Ayame, Mine, Shigure, Akito, Hatori, and Mayu: we mostly know what these characters do as of Another, and I don't have a ton to add except for Mayu (see below).

Megumi: Since we know Megumi becomes a teacher at Kaibara, I also headcanon that Mayu's still a much-loved teacher at Kaibara in Another, and that she and Megumi are work besties who like to mess with Makoto Takei when he's being especially obnoxious. I also headcanon that Mayu eventually introduces him to his future wife, since we know he likes older women.

Kureno: I imagine he'd become someone else's assistant; even better if he can work from home.

Yusuke and Hiroshi: In Bloom Within Us, Yusuke helps his dad run a grocery they own, and Hiroshi becomes a doctor (GP). I think, if I were only going off canon and not the elaborate backstories I created for them, I could imagine Hiroshi being someone who emcees events (almost a la Ryan Seacrest? but on a much smaller scale) and Yusuke I could see working at a University as like, a freshman advisor or residence life director. Basically someone who makes sure everyone's adjusting well to the campus and who people can go to with questions. I could actually see both of them doing this.

Kimi and Nao: side note, I kind of ship these two? But anyway, I can see Nao becoming a very stressed out CEO or (more likely) director of a non-profit, and I can totally see Kimi as someone whose job it is to secure donations for that non-profit, which she absolutely does by flirting with prospective donors. They'd be almost frighteningly effective when working together...

You laid next to Kagura, scrolling on your phone in one hand as your other laid a cold pack to her forehead. She had overworked herself by cooking a bunch of food for the Sohma's ever since Kyo got back.

♡ "What am I going to do with you? Once you set your mind towards something it's like I can't even stop you!"

You let out a small chuckle and she reciprocated by playfully shooing you.

"You're so lucky I can't show you my gratitude in this condition!! How will I thank you?"

Sighing a nervous breath you reached over to place your hand in hers, thankfully she hasn't pulled her hand away yet. You looked at her with adoration, the time was now.

♡ "How about, an outing? We get together and we go watch this new movie! Or you could.. consider it a date? If you want. I really like you Kagura, you're beautiful and considerate. I just want to show you the affection you give other people, you deserve it."

She looked at you with a shocked expression, a mix of melancholy and relief. Like she had been waiting for you.

"Of course! I can't go like this now can I? I might transform in the middle of the theatre!" Kagura giggled before sneezing and looked at you.

"Stay with me?" She held out a hand, you gladly took it.

YUKI:

You caught him sleeping in the living room futon with a high fever, you told him it wasn't a good idea to go out in the rain but he persisted. He sat up to talk to you as the hot soup you were heating up wasn't ready yet.

"I'm fine, truly! I.. aah ACHOO!"

You rolled your eyes playfully at him and gently pushed him back so he was laying down.

♡ "Sure, sure. Whatever helps you sleep at night."

He sighed and shook his head. "I can't be late tomorrow, can you help me? I'll do my best to repay you, of course- choo!" Another sneeze.

♡ "No way, you are definitely not going in this condition. Besides, I'm happy to help you! You mean a lot to me."

He felt his heartstrings being tugged at, or was that because of the sickness? Who knows. You got a bucket and filled it with cold water, you sat next to Yuki and dipped a towel in. After squeezing the water out; you placed it on his forehead.

♡ "Sorry, you're gonna be here for a while Sohma."

He sighed, he looked at you with a grateful smile though. Always kind.

"Thank you anyways, I appreciate your help. It has been more manageable with you here." You gave a little smile to him.

♡ "In my opinion, everything is a lot more manageable when you're around. That's why I'm so drawn to you, you're so sweet to be around."

It's now or never.

♡ "I really like you."

His heart raced, Yuki stared at you with a bit of worry and unease. But it soon turned into a soft expression, a longing one. "I was worried you didn't feel the same, guess I was wrong." He reached up and caressed a piece of your hair near your face.

"I suppose a date is in order then?"

You happily nodded. "You gotta get some sleep though! I'll be waiting, Yuki."

"Y..Yuki.." He mumbled as he fell backwards.

A giant poof appeared as blue smoke appeared, a rat landed onto the pillow with a small 'plop'. He was asleep.

What i love about gintama characters!

Gintoki: love how caring he is to everyone! Love how he can still stand up after all his hardships! Love how addicted he is with sweets! Love how he always makes serious situations funny!

Shinpachi: love his comments (seriously gintama wouldn't be gintama without his comments) love how others only see him as a glasses!

Kagura: love how she is like a mini Gin! Love how Sorachi Hideaki-sama made her so tiny and adorable on the outside but strong and violent on the inside! Love his violent but caring nature!

Sadaharu: Love how big, fluffy and cute he is! Love how he always bites someone's head (gintoki to be exact)! And love how much he loves the Yorozuya!

Katsura: Love how he always said "Zura ja nai, Katsura da!" Love how sometimes he's an idiot!

Otae: Love her violent but kind nature! Love how she supported her baby brother, Kagura and Gintoki and also Kyuubei! Love how friendly she is!

Kondou: Love how others call him Gori, Stalker and Gorilla! Love how he trusts his comrade so much! Love how kind he is!

Hijikata: Love how addicted he is with mayonnaise! How he is sometimes the straight man! I love his aggressive nature! Love how funny he is! Love how angry he is with Gintoki or Sougo

Meet my Demon Slayer OCs!

I have three lovely girls, two of which I've commissioned from Trizara on Fiverr and the third I will commission soon!

The first one I made, and the youngest of the three, is Sakura, Tanjiro's older Irish Twin. (For those who don't know, Irish Twins are two children born within a year of each other, as I understand it.) Since she is the eldest and wanted to help, Sakura sold charcoal with Tanjiro to bring in more money for the family, and that's how she survived the attack at the house. She resembles her mother, but has her father's brown hair. She uses Water Breathing and doesn't know Hinokami Kagura since that seems to only have been passed down to the men if I remember right. I'm toying with the idea that there's some ice in her Water Breathing, and if she'd really tried she could hone her technique into Ice Breathing but she was more concerned with fighting demons then developing her technique, if that makes sense.

Anyway, here's what she looks like!

Next is Hakura (the name is unintentionally similar to Sakura I swear! 🙈), my second oldest OC!

She's Sakonji Urokodaki's granddaughter who was raised by her grandfather after losing her mother, who was pregnant with Hakura's younger sibling, to a demon. Her father, in his grief, threw himself into the Kakushi scouting division (since I'm sure they must have scouts to find the demons and report them so the swordsman can kill them) and couldn't raise her.

Hakura was on track to become a swordswoman, meeting and befriending Sabito and Giyuu while they all train in Water Breathing.

Unfortunately, when Giyuu was injured and Sabito was killed, Hakura lost her will to fight demons and devoted herself to medicine, since while tending to Giyuu during Final Selection, she found she had natural instincts and talent with medicine.

She joined the Kakushi medical division and studied with the Kocho sisters at the Butterfly Mansion. She rises in the ranks and is promoted to head of the division when the former head retires and Kanae recommends Hakura to the Master. If you'd like to know what all I think that position entails let me know!

Also, she has the katana forged for her, but she never uses it.

Even though her and Giyuu don't talk for a while as they both are busy studying and fighting and training after Final Selection, they reunite after a few years and grow even closer, then they get engaged after Giyuu is promoted to Hashira, a few years after their reunion but Giyuu asks Hakura to wait until Muzan and the demons are gone to actually get married. After long discussion, Hakura agrees. She lives at his mansion and they spend time with each other as much as they can.

I absolutely love how this came out! This is what she wears when she's not on duty lol.

Now for my final OC, Riyu Himijema (was Shinuzagawa)!

She is Sanemi and Genya's aunt, the youngest sibling of Kyogo, Sanemi and Genya's father.

I imagine Kyogo was also abusive when he was younger, but luckily, Riyu is small and fast and could usually dodge Kyogo and hide but that only means that when she got caught he was more pissed off.

After one particularly bad beating Riyu received at 12 years old, she decides to run away, unable to stand Kyogo's abuse anymore.

It ends up being in the middle of a storm but poor Riyu just runs anyway, but after a long time almost runs into a wall (not knowing it's the temple Gyomei is raised in) and is so exhausted and aching from her beating she collapses against the gate and passes out.

Gyomei discovers her the next morning, and can feel the bruising on her skin so she brings her inside and she ends up spending three years with Gyomei at the temple, the two becoming quite close during that time.

Riyu meets an arborist and decides she wants to learn that skill so she convinces the arborist to take her as his apprentice .

(if you don't know what an arborist is, as I understand it, they chop down trees and trim trees for people)

She has talent for the job, using usagama hatchets to help her master.

(this is what I mean by usagama hatchets btw. Usagama may not be the right name but this is what she uses)

When she hears about Gyomei's orphanage, she wants to help and goes to him as soon as possible, getting odd jobs as an up and coming arborist to try to help Gyomei and the children.

Fortunately she was not at the temple during the demon attack, having scraped together the money for her own tiny hut, but that means that she comes upon Gyomei getting arrested and is helpless to stop his sentence.

It's then she meets the Master, who'd heard about her from her arborist Master (who's a recruiter for the Corps since I figure they have to have some kind of recruitment thing going) and wanted to speak to her and help Gyomei all at the same time.

In the end her and Gyomei agree to both join the Corps and soon after Gyomei becomes a Hashira he recognizes the dangerous life they've chosen so he proposes to Riyu so they can live their lives together no matter what happens.

Riyu uses Wind Breathing, btw, and her weapon is two Nijirin usagama hatchets with longer handles that can connect together to form a double-bladed scythe. The blades can tuck into the handle so it's a staff too.

She reaches the rank of Hashira after focusing on small gatherings of demons until she happened to kill fifty at rank Kinoe and was promoted.

She then discovers she's an aunt when Kyogo finds her at a market and insists on introducing her to his family, seeing she's well off and trying to mooch money off her. She sees him about to hit his kids later though and freaks out, running him off and threatening to kill him if he shows back up.

Unfortunately, before she can bring Shizu and the kids to her and Gyomei's house, she has to ask Gyomei, but before that can happen she's called on a mission and then Gyomei is out too and it takes nearly two weeks for her to get back to bring her sister in law and her nieces and nephews back with her but then she sees the aftermath of Shizu turning, trying to help the boys, as they're her only family besides Gyomei now.

Sanemi, however, feels betrayed (thinking she didn't care enough to take them away from their shitty dad before and only cared now that things went so downhill and he and Genya are the only ones left) and runs away.

She tries to take care of Genya but in my head he eventually runs away to try to find Sanemi and somehow finds out about the Corps and that his aunt and uncle are part of it and returns to insist on being trained, but on the way he discovers his ability to eat demons so their reunion is a bit...less than ideal, but because he's Riyu's relation, Gyomei agrees to train the kid.

Forgot to mention that right when Sanemi is promoted, Riyu gets pregnant with twins and her last Hashira meeting as the Wind Hashira is Sanemi's first, then she retires and stays at the house to take care of the kids after her and Gyomei discuss it and agree that she'd stay and no matter what their children would always have their mother and that Riyu wouldn't fight unless it was absolutely necessary.

And bites his cheek, shoulder and neck. Chomp~! ♡ This was similar to the time when she found out his ringtone for her were kittens meowing.

"Eheheh~! Sorry, Mui, I couldn't help myself. Besides, it's payback for all those bites you gave me before!" She was giggling through her words with the most brightest grin only Kamui can bring out of her as she releases him. Just simply being with him makes her so happy. She then graces his way a tender smile and soft gentle eyes. "Thank you for cleaning up for me. It means a lot. What would I do without you?" She shyly leans in on her tippy toes and kisses his forehead, before raising a hand up and pats his head a few times slowly. "Eheheh... Good boy ♡"

Kamui had been pretty distracted internally. It was easy for him to let his guard down like that when around Namida. It's happened a bunch of times. Not like there was any danger when it came to her. Given how he noticed her being tired, he didn't think much about offering to do it. Kamui tended to have more energy than a lot of others anyway. To the point it has annoyed Abuto and his sister.

 He was focused on thinking of possible ways to help Namida feel better, or maybe rent her out a lot as a girlfriend and just let her use it as an opportunity to rest. Would she be upset if he did that? Even if he did really hate her job, he didn't like interfering with it since it was something she chose to do. But maybe it'd be fine if he paid her. He didn't know…. He didn't want her to get mad at him.

 Kamui hadn't even noticed her sneaking up on him up until he felt her attack him with a hug from behind which had him froze. Although, he saw it as pretty harmless and didn't think much of it. At least until she let out her little battle cry and started biting him which left him wide eyed for a second. 

He turned to look at her and the smile she'd give him really made his heart do something that was hard to describe. Kamui couldn't even be mad. He had no reason to, and that face of hers was too adorable to even consider that a possibility.

 The affectionate way she showed her appreciation though, once again caught him off guard. He'd feel heat pour into his cheeks, they were so red. Kamui didn't know why the praise made him so happy.

 It's because of her. It's definitely because of it being her. Anyone else saying or doing that wouldn't feel the same. It'll weird him out if anything. Only she had that privilege. Only Namida

 Kamui was definitely going to get her back for that though.

“You must be pretty pleased huh? Managing to catch me with my guard down and making me all embarrassed like this.” He wasn't used to being on the receiving end of being teased, but Namida managed to get that embarrassment out of him when she wanted to. Kamui would look a little grumpy when pouting. Then he'd grab her wrist and pull her a little closer, before leaning down to kiss her.

“Let's see how red I can make you, and counter your revenge against me.” Kamui says this as if doing so wasn't always his goal when messing with her. There was a smug smirk as he showers her face in nonstop kisses, and then gives her the same treatment she gave him. 

“I have a feeling you really liked when I was biting you. I'm right, aren't I? ♡'' Kamui says before nipping her cheek, 

“You're honestly so cute though when getting playful like that, but it makes me want to bully you more and more.” He'd nip her neck next, only looking more pleased with himself with every passing second.

“You enjoy it though I'm guessing, maybe that's what you wanted me to do when you decided to attack.” Kamui would laugh when deciding to show her mercy and stopped nipping Namida to look at her. 

“Honestly, you were pretty lucky I was lost in thought, otherwise I would've seen that coming from a mile away.” He released the grip he had on her, but at the very least had to steal one more kiss before just smiling at her.

“But since I'm finished with the dishes, maybe we can watch an anime together? I won't bite you anymore don't worry, just…. would it be okay if I laid on your lap?” There was a pleading look in his eyes despite the fact he spent the last few moments being an absolute menace.

 She was the one who started it though.

A frustrated Shinpachi could not say much after such humiliating defeat before the girl next to him. No matter what he did, he would never emerge victorious. In the distance, two men were observing the scene while sitting on a bench. 

Katsura smiled. “It seems some things never change.”

The man next to him didn’t seem to react. Katsura would be patient, and wait for his eventual response. He knew that, regarding Gintoki, not only words were enough. He saw the man’s face. There it was, the smile. The kind of soft smile he only gave when it was about Kagura and Shinpachi. 

“Right,” was all he said before focusing on his dango. 

It was the first week of the New Year, the week of visiting the temples and praying for blessings for the upcoming year. They had arrived hours earlier, knowing the line in order to pray would be long. Ever since their last big event at the Terminal a couple of years ago, it had become a habit for Katsura to accompany Gintoki and his kids for all the festivities of the New Year: Cleaning the house, preparing the dinner, going to see the festivals and parades, and doing the first visit to a temple. Even if dear Elizabeth was not with them during this last ritual, his heart did not feel any colder. 

Eventually both teens -could he still call them “teens”?- arrived, Kagura complaining about feeling hungry and about the cold. They ordered some ozoni and oshiruko for both of them to warm up. Normally, this was far from enough to satisfy the redhead.

Gintoki sighed, standing up. He walked to a stall with okonomiyaki and ordered some for all of them. The lady serving smiled kindly at him, saying “oh, you came with your family today, Yorozuya?”. Katsura’s eyes widened when he heard him say: “That’s right. The Sakata family is a traditional family, so we do normal family things.” 

Katsura would normally not comment on anything regarding if he was included in that definition, but would gladly take the okonomiyaki offered. They also ordered some amazake.

On the way home, just after the entrance to Kabukicho, Katsura would feel a warm hand connecting with his own. He did not need to guess the owner of this hand, because the details of it were already engraved in his memory. It was nice to spend some time with Gintoki and the kids like this, already missing these moments, for he might have to go back soon. He would never predict Kagura and Shinpachi looking at them with apologizing smiles, saying that they preferred to spend the night at the Shimura dojo. 

Katsura ended up entering the Yorozuya office alone with Gintoki. They sat down, close to each other, trying to escape from the cold. The TV would only have New Year special programs, normally a concert or a variety show. The light had left the window of the office a while ago, only the TV remaining as a source. 

After a while, Gintoki said “I’ll go back, Zura”, and left the office. Katsura already missed the warmth. He didn’t pay attention to the TV as much, not until the perm-head would go back with warm sake from Otose’s store and two cups. The smile on his face was so playful and wide, Katsura couldn’t help but do the same. Gintoki had that childish aspect which made him completely adorable to his eyes.

They both sat next to the table and started drinking, and drinking and drinking. Their bodies became hotter and closer to each other, Katsura perfectly aware of each centimeter erased. Gintoki’s face was pink, as if a necklace of plum flowers adorned his gaze. The smell of alcohol filled the air around them. Their interlaced fingers soon were followed by silly kisses between giggles of these two drunk men celebrating another year alive, being each other’s constant. They grappled against each other and soon he had Gintoki on top of him, just like many other times. 

“Oh, are you feeling generous today, Gintoki?”

“Don’t be silly. Gin-chan always takes care of his wigs accordingly.” 

Katsura did not know how it happened, but soon they found each other on Gintoki’s futon sharing kisses and playing with their kimono. A mischievous hand unraveled his obi with clear experience, already knowing how Katsura loved to tie his clothes, and perfectly aware of how to untie the layers of his heart. Gintoki put his legs above his shoulders, and prepared him with his fingers. During their youth, this preparation wasn’t as slow or lovely. He felt blessed at the availability of resources they had now, moaning softly against his palm with heated cheeks. Gintoki would not always top him, but when he did he never knew what to expect. With them it was like a roulette: sometimes roleplaying, other times full honesty, but never satiated. Despite the years, they changed with the seasons somehow, like a nice spice waiting to be discovered, to be shown in their intimacy. 

Gintoki looked at Katsura, a flirty smile filled with anything he doesn’t show to other people, and said like an idiot: “Happy new year, Zura.”

“It’s not Zura, it’s Katsura. Happy new year, Gintoki,” he replied, embracing Gintoki by the neck, supporting himself. They embraced each other tightly for the rest of the night, their bodies moving together with the familiarity only they knew, the smell intoxicating. Katsura was only able to focus on Gintoki’s warmth and the softness of his hair. The thickness of his muscles and the protectiveness over him. 

After indulging in their desires they fell asleep quickly, the moonlight filtered through the window. When Katsura woke up, he felt a little cold, for they had left the window of their room open. 

He thought it must be around 5 a.m. already. In past times, he would escape through the window, but this time he merely came close to it in order to close it. There was no more uncertainty. He could fully give out his heart if he wanted, like a free man. He was about to close the window when he heard a whisper from behind.

“Zura, don’t go…”

“If you left, I don’t know what to do…” 

Katsura went back to the futon and caressed Gintoki’s cheek, who seemed to still be in some deep sleep. He must have felt the sudden coldness. The long haired man kissed the other’s forehead, smiling. 

“Don’t worry, Gintoki. I am here,” he whispered back. 

“We will go to celebrate New years next time too…” Gintoki said softly, seemingly hearing him in his slumber.

“Yes… the next year, and the next after that, and the many years after that, you silly permhead,” Katsura said to his ear, the silver hair tickling his nose. He giggled, going back to the futon and snuggling against the other man. 

He knew Gintoki wasn’t a man of direct words. Normally, his actions spoke for him. Only decades of practice with this man would be enough in order to read everything. As a man of experience in everything Gintoki related, Katsura just whispered against his chest: “I love you too, Gintoki,” and soon went back to sleep as well.

After seeing the ass post. I personally think Blazblue is actually a bit more tame with it‘s fanservice at least in the main story. Most fanservice takes place in the gag reels if I remember correctly (and in the animation sprites).

Personally I see the fanbase as the most unhinged horny part of Blazblue. ( granted there are the infamous art books so I guess the dev tram is guilty too).

What is your opinion on the male fanservice. Which male characters fit more to the female gaze? I get the feeling that Hibiki and Hazama are usually pretty popular.

Fanservice is such a fascinating topic. Each country and culture has different standards and levels of „shame“ I‘d call it for certain fanservice. Beauty standards also often differ. I mean japanese media has always been more infamous for its more overt fanservice in its media.

This opening is going to sound pedantic, but I PROMISE you, it’s relevant, and- spoiler- it’s going to be used to confirm your theory about Hibiki and Hazama!

The concept of the “female gaze” arguably doesn’t exist, from the same academic standpoint as the male gaze does! The media phenomena we call the “male gaze” is a product of the culture the media is produced in- it is the specific way that female characters are influenced by being produced and consumed in a patriarchal, or heavily male-influenced, culture. By that definition, there in no female gaze, because we just don’t live in a society with such an overwhelming Heterosexual Female influence.

Though on that same point I would present the counterpoint that we DO have a way to see ‘female gaze media’- look at fujoshi/yaoi circles. Yaoi circles are dominated by women, many of whom are attracted to men, and since fujoshi culture has been such a taboo subculture for so many years, it has had to exist on the fringes- in a space with incredibly little influence from male fans or producers. Of course, I’m using generalizations here, you have to to discuss the ‘gaze’ phenomena, but do you see what I mean??? The “boy’s love” or “mlm” genre has historically disgusted male producers and consumers. Their resulting insistence on avoiding or crushing the genre has created an incredibly unique subculture of media.

In a lot of conversations, when people (often men) think about “female gaze” as a general consumer, not really studying it as a media term- they tend to approach the female gaze, and attraction, as a direct counterpart to the male gaze and male attraction. This leads to inaccurate conclusions, trying to categorize a fanservice-y male character by the same metrics as the agreed-upon traits of a fanservice-y female character; things like lots of exposed skin, a sultry air, or exaggerated proportions. With these (inaccurate) qualifiers, we get shirtless guys like Bang or Azrael, or flirty guys like Kagura.

But when you actually look at consumer statistics, fan polls, etc., you find that the most popular characters with women are the characters most popular in yaoi content. The big muscle-y “chad” types actually cater to the male gaze just like characters like Litchi, Bullet, and Nine do, they just address a different fantasy. The big booby women are attractive, a thing male fans/producers see as desirable to have, while the big beefcakes are what they want to be, how they want to be seen. Characters like Bang and Azrael are actually more popular with gay men in the fandom, where they are ADORED, than they are with most women in the fandom, who often ignore them entirely.

Your observation that Hibiki and Hazama are popular with women are spot on! Apparently, Hibiki Kohaku of all characters is the king of the female gaze in BlazBlue. In the west he’s not very popular at all, but in the Japanese fandom he reigns supreme. Hazama is way up there too- remember the bathtub scene from the CS gag reel? Lastly, Jin is also HUGELY popular with women. I’ve seen some fun memes about Sumeragi drawing Jin, and the differences between her work for the official series, vs her personal work for her fellow fujoshi. It’s wild to see it, but I guess this is the effect of the female gaze! This is what it looks like!

I don’t see the appeal personally, but I am a massive Hazama simp, so clearly I’m not as exempt from the “ladies love twinks” theorem as I like to think I am.

Welp, I think this post is long enough. I’m sorry I couldn’t cover every point in your ask- it really got me thinking about a lot of things. I wanted to talk some about the interesting cultural perception and, as you said, shame, of fanservice as a concept in general. But. Like. ~700 words is probably enough words for now. And if I try to cover to many topics in one post, I’ll end up muddying my points.

I used to be massively squicked by yaoi, and I’m still not a member of the fujo community, but over the past few years it’s been fascinating to learn more about this kind of stuff. Though since I am still an outsider, my understanding can’t cover the full picture of this topic. I do have a friend who would be more qualified to speak about this, as she is both a Woman In Fandom and a student of media, art, and culture! If anyone is particularly interested in this discussion, I’d be happy to loop her into the conversation to share more.

Possible Wonderful PreCure leaks (info only below):

We may already have leaks of our Cures’ forms and most of their names! They honestly look pretty real to me. I’m not sharing the picture, but will summarize it below:

We are shown 4 Cures—pink, purple, blue, and a Milky-esque green! They are shown in duos, so this makes me think that the pink and purple ones will be our starting Cures.

They are all girls. I think.

We do seem to be getting a dog and cat theme! The (possibly) main duo seems to be dog-themed, the other cat-themed!

Speaking on this theme, I was a little disappointed at first because they don’t look very animal themed at first glance. The pink girl (I’ll get to their names in a moment) has hair that looks like dog ears, the purple girl has no obvious indication of an animal theme, and the blue and green girls have little cat ears in hats. We obviously don’t get a full view of them here, so maybe they have tails too?

On the names, we have three of them: pink is Wonderful, purple is Friendy, green is Lillian, and the blue is unknown, though it ends in “-amy” (the pic is cut off). I’m glad I got one name right, though the other two are a little odd. Friendy is not an English word (though it sounds adorable so I’m letting it slide bc this season looks adorable), and Lillian is a name…? Though apparently it has something to do with knitting in Japan? Idk. We’ll have to see the full context in January. It’s actually funny bc I swear I thought to put “Friend” or “Friendly” in my list of possible Cure names, but didn’t for whatever reason. So I kinda guessed it.

Overall though, these designs are cute and pretty! I like them. The duos have pretty similar-looking outfits to each other which I also really like. If they’re not the real thing, then I applaud the artist’s work anyway!

my only gripe is that I wish Lillian was a lil more green. A lot of her outfit looks the same shade of blue as the blue girl’s.

But it also looks like the blue girl has GRAY/SILVER HAIR??? Although it could just be a very light shade of blue. Here’s to hoping anyways.

Update the blue girl’s name is Cure Nyammy. Omg this is first main Cure (aside from Kagura) with a Japanese name. This is also the first main Cure with a name that begins with N!

So I decided to get that fanservice anime games bundle on Humble Bundle, and like...the fucking cowgirl samurai in a bikini games are actually good????????

I really didn't expect much going into them, but these games are so much fun. A few thoughts I had (kinda long post incoming):

The combat feels really satisfying and flows so well. Especially when it comes to things like switching weapons or characters mid combo to extend said combo.

The Xtasy/Dare Drive forms were both badass and fun to use. I really like the risk vs reward feeling that makes you consider the right time to use them.

The plot isn't really anything special or amazing, but it's got that same vibe as a super campy grindhouse B-film which I personally adore.

I honestly really liked the characters. Again these games aren't trying to have the deepest plot in the world, but the characters are fun and memorable. Like I genuinely love them and feel attached now.

I even grew to really like the character designs a lot. Like hell yeah Aya. You go rock that bikini, feather boa, and cowgirl hat while you bathe in the blood of the undead. Again it's just so campy and silly I can't help but love it.

The music goes way harder than it has any right to. "Ichiban Wa Me" has been stuck in my head and refuses to leave.

Origin in particular has amazing combat. Combos flow well, hits feel really impactful, and it's honestly just downright addicting. It also almost reminds me of the Dynasty Warriors games with how you can feel really strong and unstoppable against basic enemies, but boss fights are still challenging and require you to focus.

I definitely think Origin is the better of the two in terms of gameplay, but there's a lot I did really love about it in Z2. One of the biggest things being the chase mechanic which I would really like to see return in a future game along with the more polished gameplay that Origin has.

While I do actually like the more "realistic" look of Z2, I think I like the more stylized anime look of Origin more. It's just much more visually appealing in my opinion, and I hope they continue with it in the future. (I'm also dying to see Kagura and Saaya in that art style)

As much as I've fallen in love with these games they do have some issues worth mentioning though. Mainly the fact that they are a bit buggy.

Z2 doesn't really have any game breaking bug that I found, but sometimes camera angles can get a little wonky. Especially when you're cornered and targeting an enemy. Also hitboxes on some enemy attacks can be a little taller than they appear to be. This is most noticeable with shots from guns that will hit you even when you are jumping high above them.

Origin can take some messing with to get working properly on PC, and even once it is working it's known to crash on occasion which will corrupt your save file. I haven't run into this issue myself, but it is a thing I've seen people talk about so I think it's worth mentioning. While annoying it is possible to protect against this by just making a back up of your save file in the event it does happen. Also worth mentioning that in a few cutscenes the models can be a little shaky. It's honestly not a huge deal at all, but it is noticeable when it happens.

One other negative I will say is that the regular prices are a little high. Especially with Origin which also has bonus missions that you have to buy as DLC. These missions are only $.99 a piece, but I still feel they should have just been included in the base game. I highly recommend these games, but I do suggest grabbing them on sale.

I'm honestly glad I got that bundle if for no other reason than these games, and I definitely plan to put a lot more hours into them to master the combat fully. Needless to say I'm a fan now, and I'm actually really hoping they continue to do more with this series. Maybe with a slightly higher budget even. I see a lot of potential with these games.

hope you don't mind me sending in another ask so soon but i always find this kinda stuff interesting- now that you've survived two big serious arcs how would you rank the main cast in terms of like. favs & stuff?

so I had to pull out my notes app to draft this one bc i can't do things simply apparently. i can't rank characters for shit so I'm just gonna rate the main ones (at least to me) out of ten and that's that lol, so onward beyond the cut!

Gintoki: I'm in love with him. 10/10.

He's captivated me with his dead fish eyes and pathetic charm, the way he subverts the general shonen protag archetype really works for me (bc i tend to get annoyed with the genre every now and then) but other than that he's such an interesting character on his own that I cannot get into for fear of rambling too much but yeah. I like him a lot. I might cry about someday in the tags of some art or whatever

(also beam saber arc is UNDERRATED (to me) and its very much overshadowed by everything before and after it but I DON'T CARE it has some of my favourite gin character bits this is my propaganda i just felt like i had to put this here THANKS)

Shinpachi: the human-wearing-glasses gag is absolutely hilarious and I hope it never stops. 8/10.

I love shinpachi a lot I promise, i love how dedicated he is to the straight man role and also the times when he's not. Honestly he could have very easily annoyed me after a bit, but he's genuinely just so loveable and a lot of his charm just comes from his VA's delivery, I've never heard anyone else able to convey the emotional range that I've heard from shinpachi in this anime fnsnjrjgjs

I do think he needs more screentime though (watch beam saber arc),,,kagura tends to get a lot of the spotlight (which I'm not mad about) but he also needs some love!! he's just some guy yk gotta give some appreciation!!

Kagura: queen of kabukicho and the queen of my heart. 10/10.

SHE IS LITERALLY EVERYTHING TO ME. i don't have words to express how much I love her, she's one of my all time favorites ever. She's just doing her thing, eating gin-san out of house and home and kicking ass while she's at it and she's so valid for that.

A big part of why I like her is also just her relationship with the yorozuya. the amount of times I've felt like exploding when I see her and gin or shinpachi just interacting in the background of a scene or something similar is impossible to count. She's my little mimi and she deserves literally the world

(Also there's this one compilation of her singing on YouTube and i listen to it RELIGIOUSLY kugimiya rie is a blessing for this character for real it's insane)

Sadaharu interlude: Big ball of fluff/10 (he's adorable)

Hijikata: this man makes me feel a similar range of emotions I feel cramming the night before a final, if not more. 10/10.

He drives me NUTS. you know me, i love my dark-haired chainsmoking men with issues, and he's just chock full of them, it's like a dream come true. Every arc that's focused on him has been absolutely incredible, and even on his own he's such an interesting and funny character. Fully biased towards his VA btw, i don't think anyone else could voice him as effectively, the delivery is always top notch.

His dynamic with the rest of the shinsengumi is honestly one of my favourites, he's got so much range as a serious and gag character, especially when the plot decides to chuck his coolness out the window with that little mayonnaise addiction of his (now everytime I put mayonnaise on anything at all i give myself a dirty look, idk why).

Also i should mention that tosshi was one of the only things that made my watching experience truly difficult. I'd just cringe out of existence everytime he opened his mouth it was. An experience. I still love him very much. Too much maybe.

Sougo: sadism has never looked more fun. 9/10.

I don't think I really have much to say about him? he's genuinely a really fun character, and his endless quests to smear hijikata across the asphalt is always the highlight of any viewing experience. i loved him regardless, but the mitsuba and farewell shinsengumi arcs gave him that extra bit of depth that really solidified him as a fav hehe

YOU DONT GET CHARACTERS LIKE HIM VERY OFTEN AND I LOVE HIM SO MUCH

thi guy is just the fucking funniest. he's one of the perfect examples of how gintama does characterisation through comedy because by introducing him with all his hilarious gags, you start to care a lot more about him when things actually get serious. Plus the joke never really gets old with him, if he shows up in an episode I know I'm about to have a great time.

but as a serious character as well he's just so good. Him being the glue of the shinsengumi is incredible and sometimes in the plot (crisis and farewell arcs) you can see exactly what it is in this man that makes people want to follow him to the ends of the earth, he is just a good person and I love him for that.

also he's the reason i realised I have not grown out of my 14 year old dick joke phase so there's that

Otose: gintoki's overdue rent/10 (9/10)

I enjoy her so much actually, she's already incredibly fun, but whenever they show more background to gintoki and her's relationship, all of a sudden i am in a puddle of tears on the floor, it's one of the most important things ever to me, the foster parent trope is my weak point.

evidently, kabukicho four devas was my kryptonite (in a really really good way)

Catherine: the heavy accent is pretty funny. 7/10.

I don't really have strong feelings about her tbh, she's alright and funny enough, that's pretty much all I can say

Tama: total number of her leukocytes/10 (9/10)

I LIKE TAMA SOOOOO MUCH SHES SO SWEET AND KIND AND ADORABLE. all of the tama centric arcs have been really fun and each episode involving her is so nice. Finding out she was the time traveller in the bfy movie was such a great twist but immediately made sense bc OF COURSE she would go that far for her very first friends!!!!! i love her innocence so dearly and the way she simply just wants to help others, also otose seeing her as a daughter makes me so emotional

Hasegawa: the madaodog madaonaire episode made me choke at the speed at which I got that reference. 8/10.

Incredibly funny character, the fact that he cannot win a single W is both hilarious but also a bit sad and pathetic, but he's authentic to himself regardless.

He also ruined my later attempts at trying to watch NGE

Otae: the price of one dom peri/10 (8/10)

I love her SOOOOO much she's so entertaining...again I don't have much to say but it's not really in a bad way, i just like her a lot and that's mostly it hehe

Kyubei: otae love/10 (9/10)

as a nb person I have a huge bias towards kyubei, their struggle to figure out where they stand in the binary is pretty relatable, and while I can say that you don't always see a character like that in media who is also hopelessly in love with a woman (so real for that though) i can also admit that this show isn't the best handling of it all, but honestly it's a very "take what I can get situation" so I try not to be too bothered, dekobokko was a bit strange but the ending for kyubei is better than most other instances I've seen, even if it doesn't stay consistent in the series

Also where is jugem jugem? i miss that little bastard so much that arc was so good

Tsukuyo: where does she stash all that kunai. 9/10.

no but seriously she's a really fun character, and I love everything about her and yoshiwara and her relationship with hinowa and seita and he hyakka and ACK. yoshiwara in flames and the red spider arcs were really good for her, and her slightly confused air at most times is so charming, i love her muah

Sacchan: uhhhhhh huh. 7/10.

I'm gonna be honest, she's one of the only characters I really didn't like since she was introduced, i just found her so incredibly annoying all the time. But then came shogun assassination and suddenly I could stand her a lot more when her personality didn't revolve around gin-san's massive d– (but like. I hate that I can relate to her)

also I don't know where her strange friendship with tsukuyo came from but I actually genuinely like it a lot..........sillies with sharp knives, what could possibly go wrong?

Takasugi: 9/10

He's great. Shogun assassination made me cry over him. I'm forever sad about him now he was so mochi.....and then the trauma.............ue

Things that went through my head while watching this episode:

--Yaaay! There's Yahaba being finicky about his kimono getting dirty! They really do play up Susamaru's childlike simplicity before the reveal that she was probably a very, very small child when turned into a demon.

--Continuing on Yahaba, his blood techniques were some of the funnest to see put into action and puzzled through, it gives us one of the greatest displays of Tanjiro having to think on his feet--or in the air, as the case may be. Twisting with the action of the arrows is genius, and this sets up Tanjiro's ability to puzzle through Kyogai's more difficult to crack Blood Technique very nicely. Even at their simplest and most annoying by simply moving his opponents out of the way, they are very effectively problematic for someone trying to attack him.

--This episode also puts all of the mechanics of Water Breathing on display for us, I really love that Tanjiro has adopted them so fully into his being to be able to alter them (like doing Water Wheel horizontally and redirecting the force of Yahaba's arrows back at him, or more complexly, combining the upper body and lower body movements of two different forms). Tanjiro has adopted a sense of flow and flexibility into his muscles, a testament to the merits of Water Breathing.

--Speaking of movement, ragdoll Kamados! Look at these children getting tossed around! And the animation on Nezuko's hair flopping everywhere as she hops around? Love it.

--You know what I love more? Nezuko looking upside-down up at Tanjiro instead of over her shoulder. Even in the midst of battle it is critical that Nezuko be adorable.

--But also, what a good, if not heavy-handed shot of the two siblings side-by-side and then sprinting off in opposite directions at opposite opponents. So in-sync, which is good for Nezuko, as she lacks verbal speech with which to communicate.

--That being said, they are so, so cute that Taisho Secret. Stop it, children!! Stop being so cute!!!

--Kinda sad for Tamayo that Nezuko grew affection for her seeing her own mother's face over Tamayo's. Not only does this make me feel a wrench in my gut for Nezuko being somewhat duped into feeling her deceased mother is still present, but it takes away a new bond Nezuko can feel for Tamayo specifically. Even if Nezuko did grow to a point where she could see and appreciate people for who they were instead of, say, seeing a train car full of Shigerus, in the time she spent with Tamayo, she wasn't ready to do that, and I wonder how much memory she'll retain of Tamayo. She may eventually have to rely more on things Tanjiro said of her.

--But hey, we've got Yushiro to remember her by (however idealized his own vision of her might be). I love that we see how openly distrustful he still is of Tanjiro with how when he grows his mouth back the first thing he says is say how they shouldn't had let that demon slayer into their home. Granted, it's for practical reasons as it weakens his blood technique the more traces of other people come into their abode, but his declaration of hatred for anyone who intrudes on his life and space and time with Tamayo-sama? That wasn't just Susamaru, that was you, Tanjiro.

--That being said, Yushiro is practical and quick to accept Tanjiro as an ally, and they we get to see Yushiro physically beating up on Susamaru. He is one who gets down to business as he must, and likewise, someone who must own up to positive feelings towards others if he must (as we'll see in the following episode when he begrudgingly admits Nezuko is pretty). He's got a very core sense of honor and I appreciate that consistency in his character.

--I love how Nezuko goes flop after that kick didn't go as planned. She doesn't think as well on her feet as Tanjiro, especially when she doesn't have as many feet.

--CG-wise, there are a few rough parts, or parts that feel more like the Hinokami Kagura Kepputan game. That is totally forgivable though, and I feel like other animation studios might have passed on KnY because animating the patterns on haori seemed like too big a pain. I feel like whoever it was at Ufotable who pitched KnY for adaptation might had specifically tinkered with the visual style of Water Breathing as proof of concept for how it would be a good use of their CG technology. Now that I'm looking for it, I see the same sorts of "Tanjiro fights things coming at him from all directions" in everything from training at Mt. Sagiri to avoiding Daki's obi, but what really makes it impressive is the attention to shifting weight and moment, dynamic and dramatic angle changes, but most especially, the attention to character details and expression in the midst of battle, like looking to their next strike before moving in that direction, or readjusting their grip on their weapon. It makes all the characters feel more grounded as humans (or demons) having to use all their skills and push themselves in the midst of battle.

--Which is all to say, this is the first battle to make you sit back and say, "WHOA, COOL, WATER BREATHING IS NEAT"

Nobunaga & Asuka

“Asuka…!” The girl panicked and bowed. “Yes, my Lord!” Nobunaga turned around and said, “Tell me about your world”. Her eyes widened and she giggled nervously before saying, “I-I don’t know what you’re talking about—“. “Asuka, do you think I’m a fool? We already have a Shinobi who says he’s not from this time and judging by your clothing, you’re not from this time either”, he explained. She sat in front of him and said, “There really isn’t much I can tell you. We go to school, train to be Shinobi— oh! I have a few rivals!” He frowned. “Enemies?” “N-No! They’re my friends, but we sometimes fight~! Like me and my friend Homura do~!”, she said cheerfully. “Ah. I see”.

Hideyoshi & Ikaruga

While repairing Asuka’s outfit, Ikaruga spotted Hideyoshi thinking intently about something. “Is something wrong?” He hummed and then asked, “How skilled are you at hiding things, Ikaruga?” She smiled and said, “Pretty skilled, why?” The Warlord then gave her a blueprint of Nobunaga’s Tenshu. “I want you to find Lord Nobunaga’s Konpeito and hide it somewhere. Don’t even tell me where it is. My Lord’s health is at stake here!” Then she stood up and said, “Consider it done, Lord Hideyoshi”. She ran outside and jumped up into Nobunaga’s Tenshu to find Asuka there. “A-Asuka?!” “I don’t know why but Lord Nobunaga asked me to guard his Konpeito!”

MISSION FAILED!

Masamune & Katsuragi

After a good fight, Masamune and Katsuragi decided to eat some of his cooking, which she became very fond of. It didn’t take long for the two to become good friends. “Did you know that Ikaruga is like the Mom of the group?!” “Huh?! You have to deal with that too?! Hideyoshi’s always telling me off for being late to a War Council”, Masamune complained, making her laugh, as they kept talking. Wow! I didn’t think we’d get along over a good fight, good food and talking about our ‘Moms’!” He chuckled and they clinked glasses, just as the doors opened. The two felt that murderous aura from Ikaruga and Hideyoshi.

“Katsuragi…”.

“Masamune…”.

“RUN!!!”

Ieyasu & Yagyu

Ieyasu was told that Yagyu would be under his supervision, but he didn’t understand why. The entire room was filled with nothing but silence. Neither of them spoke to one another. That was until they heard running from outside the room. “What was that?”, Ieyasu asked. “Katsuragi probably getting in trouble again. Nothing worth our time”, she said with a squid in her mouth. His eyes widened. “H-How did you…?” “I’m a Shinobi. I could get you your favourite food if you wanted me to. I am placed under your supervision after all, Lord Ieyasu”. He smiled and said, “Ieyasu is just fine”. She nodded. “Okay…”.

“YAGYU!!!” “IEYASU!!!”

“HELP US!!!”

“Not helping either of you…!!!”, they said in unison.

Mitsunari & Hibari

“Thank you so much for looking after me, Lord Mitsunari!!!”, Hibari said with a bright smile. He smiled back and waved his hands in front of him. “You don’t have to be polite. Just Mitsunari is okay”. She nodded and asked, “So, what do you do?” “I’m a tactician, meaning that I plan strategies for our upcoming wars”, he explained with a cheerful smile. “Ah, I see! As Shinobi, we can’t always do that! Every time we have planned something, it never goes the way we want it to go!”, she complained with a pout. “Such is the life of a Shinobi, I suppose”. “Yup~!!!”

The aura surrounding them was too flowery for Ieyasu and then he looked at Yagyu.

“Hibari~, you’re so adorable~!”

“You need help…”.
