Hello ma’am at Wendy’s; could you analyze some inukag scenes in the first movie? 😍
I could talk about how Inuyasha was strugling in the first battle — to the point of Shippo stating he's hopeless when Kagome isn't around — and how he headed back to it with renewed energy once she got there.
I could talk about how he bickers with her the entire time, but it's always so gentle while constantly carrying her away from danger — bridal style, no less — and asking her in that soft voice we don't ever hear him use with anyone else if she is alright even though he was the one just getting his ass beaten.
I could also talk about how he follows after Kagome when she runs off, supposedly to "give her a piece of his mind" yet doesn't deny it when Shippo counter arguments that she got him wrapped around her finger. I could. But that's just our everyday Inukag, so here are the scenes I feel like are worthy discussing on a deeper level.
When Inuyasha found Kagome after she accidentally cut herself, he got closer, wanting to take a better look at her wound, but for a second there Kagome forgot about her injury and really thought he was going to kiss her. You can see her surprise at his sudden proximity and then the disappointment when he goes for her hand instead.
Then he took her finger to his mouth, to the place where his fangs are, without overthinking it or fearing any judgement, simply trusting that Kagome wouldn't be scared or disgusted by the gesture, by him. And she never does. What really makes this scene, though, is that Inuyasha is completely oblivious to the effect his actions are having on her so far or just how intimate they actually are.
Kagome's safety is his number one priority and Inuyasha feels comfortable enough with her to follow his instincts without reservations, so he doesn't quite realize the romantic implications because it's natural to him, to them, to be this close.
Then Inuyasha uses Kagome's favorite handkerchief to patch her up. Considering she sounds more upset about him ripping it to do so than surprised that he has it in the first place and that he doesn't seem embarrased to have it at all, my guess is that she must have gifted it to him at some point.
And even though he claims it's just a piece of cloth, the fact remains that he carried it with himself for who knows how long — probably because it smells like her — and kept it intact despite the many battles, that is until she needed it as a bandage and we get visual confirmation that Shippo was right: Kagome literally got him wrapped around her finger.
Flash forward to the bridge scene, where Inuyasha thinks he's seeing Kikyo at first, then notices is actually Kagome in priestess clothes and runs to her. If you ask me, it's pretty telling that he'd only mistake the two of them when Kagome isn't acting like herself.
I love his reaction to realizing Kagome is there, safe and sound. He's just so genuinelly happy and relieved to see her. Those aren't emotions we're used to get from him. Plus, he worries about her being pale and insists that she gets back to Kaede's so she can get more rest.
Then when Kagome hugs him, he apologizes — which we also don't see him do often — for not getting to her sooner, thinking that's what earned him that hug. And he returns her embrace in true Inuyasha fashion: tight and cradling her head.
That's when Kagome pulled this little trick and I think two things are worthy noticing. One, she managed to break free from the mind control long enough to tell Inuyasha to get away. That's quite impressive. Two, when confronted with the idea of Kagome betraying him, Inuyasha came to the only possible conclusion that she was under a spell, never once doubting her.
He makes one attempt to reason with her, pleading for Kagome to snap out of it, but when that fails, he doesn't even try to immobilize her or adopt a defensive stance, he just runs, flat out refusing to lay a hand on her, the opposite of his fighting style.
And even though Inuyasha knows Kagome is being controled, I still appreciate his reaction to hearing the one person who makes him want to live telling him to die. Not to mention how it brought back some very unpleasent memories. Speaking of which...
What's interesting about this scene is that, again, Inuyasha knows this is Kagome attacking him — although against her will — but the very idea of her hurting him is so inconceivable that Inuyasha tries to make sense of it with the situations he has experienced before.
Then Kagome explained she has no control over her body and just can't stop, begging him to run again before it's too late. Inuyasha, however, wouldn't hear it.
"I'm not running. Not without you. I won't leave you behind."
And honestly, who would have blamed him if he had run? Certainly not Kagome. She understands better than anyone just how difficult reliving those old traumas must be for him. Yet he would rather stay and die by her hands than leave without her.
That's why she fought so hard against the spell here, in a way she couldn't quite fight when it wasn't Inuyasha's life on the line. Until the very end, she refuses to be the one to cause Inuyasha the same harm he has suffered before. But she ultimately fails.
It's only after Kagome realizes what she's done that she manages to break the spell. It's very meaningful that she screams his name the exact moment it happens and that her eyes were full of tears even before she shot that arrow.
She runs to Inuyasha and wraps him into one of my favorite Inukag hugs ever. The position they're in is so intimate, it's like she wants to melt into him and protect him from the entire world while begging him to say something and open his eyes, chanting how sorry she is.
It also parallels the scene in the beginning. Same spot, similar situations. Except where once was Kagome injured, now is Inuyasha and where once was him patching her up, now it's her who is taking care of him.
Kagome doesn't let go of Inuyasha for a good while and when Kikyo tells her to return to her own time, since she doesn't belong there, Kagome answers that she won't, that she can't leave Inuyasha — echoing his words from earlier.
Even after Kikyo explains that once the well it's covered over, Kagome won't be able to return to her own world anymore, she is still reticent about leaving Inuyasha and Kikyo has to literally force her out.
"Inuyasha! My hands can't touch him anymore. My voice can't reach him anymore. I won't see Inuyasha ever again."
I absolutely love how classic Inukag this quote is. You have Kagome saying his name twice, a mention of touching, which is a huge part of their love language, a nod to her voice reaching out to him, which is a recurrent theme for them and "I won't see Inuyasha ever again" as opposite to our many "I want to see Inuyasha once more."
Another thing I love is how this scene mirrors the one when Kagome first meets Inuyasha: unconscious against the Sacred Tree, her hand reaching out to him. Except then she ended up saving him later and now she was the reason he was there.
Then we finally get to the reunion scene, the heart of "Affections Touching Across Time" which by the way is such a great name for the movie! Not only is it poetic, but it also paints Inuyasha and Kagome's relationship as the transcendental love story that it is. As if no matter the circumstances, it's inevitable for the love the feel for each other to find its way back to them.
Inuyasha wakes up and Kagome is his very first thought. For her part, Kagome is also able to feel Inuyasha through the tree.
"I can feel him. I can feel Inuyasha."
They start to talk even though they're years and years apart, Kagome asking if he is okay and Inuyasha brushing her worries off as usual. He then says he's surprised she isn't there and when Kagome says she came back home, he teases her about being scared.
Kagome denies it and I believe it's because she was initially thinking about the dangerous situation they were in, but then images of Kikyo telling her to go home and kissing Inuyasha flashes through her mind and she admits that e was right, that maybe she did run away.
She did get scared, but not of the danger they were facing. She was scared to find out Inuyasha was truly in love with Kikyo and that, since Kagome hurt him, he would be better off without her around.
Once Kagome explains that to him — minus the Kikyo part — Inuyasha gets up despite his wounds and tries to make his way to her, but Kagome meets him half way.
@kitramune pointed out that Inuyasha smiles at her reaction because not only he knew she would do so, but he also expected her to in order to pull her into a hug.
"I need you with me, Kagome. Haven't you realized that yet?"
Their hug is also a perfect replica of the original one, their very first one. From Inuyasha having a wound on his chest to catching Kagome completely off guard, first pulling her towards him then embracing her tight.
The scene is a masterpiece overall. The music, the dialogue, the voice acting — both in japanese and english —, the emotional conflict. It keeps me wishing it had happened in canon every time I watch it.
And I can't in good conscience leave the ultimate trusting exercise out of this. That Kagome trusts Inuyasha enough to jump into his arms from great heights it's pretty amazing in and out of itself, but the reason her confidence in him is so high is because he delivers it every time. It's all very reciprocal.
And even though Inuyasha complains about her being reckless, I love that he doesn't even bother to sheathe Tessaiga — his most valuable possession — too focus on catching Kagome in the gentlest way possible.
Last but not least: the extra scene. In the beginning of the movie, we hear Grandpa Higurashi say that the Sacred Tree would blossom every single year without fail, until five hundred years ago, when Inuyasha was put under a spell and fixed to its truck, to which Kagome replies that now its flowers are blooming again because she set Inuyasha free.
The blossoms represent just that: a counterpoint to the snow that once fell over them. They're both pretty but where the snow is cold, the petals are warm. Where one is winter, the other is spring. Where one is the end of a cycle, the other is rebirth, it's life.
I hope putting Inuyasha on the shadows and Kagome on the sunny side of the tree was a conscious creative choice here because it accentuates their personalities and the yin and yang dynamic of their relationship, on top of being aesthetically pleasing.
I especially enjoyed how reassuring and straight forward he was here, like it was a given that he would be there for and with her even if it couldn't be physically, like he couldn't fathom any other way.
And of course, there's the way Inuyasha is so aware of her and constantly worried about her well being, noticing how exhausted she was and being concerned she might collapse while having a severe injury on his own chest.
HONORABLE MENTIONS: Sango telling Kagome to be careful and Kagome replying that she'll be fine because she'll be with Inuyasha. The villain saying "I've never seen anything more pathetic than a half demon cuddle by a mortal girl" and Kagome going "why? What's wrong with us being together?" Kagome still feeling awful about hurting Inuyasha and thanking him when he insisted that "it's barely a scratch."
#I've watched the Inuyasha movies once each#And I never really planned on revisiting them because to be honest I don't particularly consider them canon#Plus the animation was atrocious at times#So I figured I'd just rewatch the most memorable scenes whenever I feel nostalgic#But I watched the whole thing for you Kat#And I actually had a great time doing it#Inuyasha#Sidmailing#Affections Touching Across Time#Kagome#Kagome Higurashi#Inukag#Inumeta#Inukag meta#Inuyasha meta#Kagome meta

can i say something about inukik & inukag lol
For context, I’m a latecomer to this series. I just finished it last month in the year 2023. And “Did Inuyasha love Kikyo more or Kagome more?” is sort of a weird debate for me.
Because it's sort of implying that "love" could be quantified or something. Like it’s something you can point your finger at and count. But from my, ahem seasoned expertise, that’s not how it works.
So I want to look at it in a different way.
Let’s get it straight. Love is not quantifiable. Inuyasha loved both Kikyo and Kagome the best way he knew how. He was genuine about both of them. His feelings were earnest and true.
But you can’t deny his love somehow feels... different between the two of them.
So what is it? What is this difference?...
*deep breath* please bear with me I need to get this out of my system
+
Inuyasha loved Kikyo. But their love felt transactional.
Kikyo showed him kindness, didn't try to kill him, treated him like a normal person for once. But... she was kind of in a sad place in life. In protecting the jewel, she felt robbed of a normal life. So, she asked him one day, "Will you become human and destroy the jewel? For me?" Kind of a tall ask, but I don’t blame her. She was feeling miserable. And Inuyasha's like, "Yes, of course!"
But then she died. And got resurrected. And Inuyasha's like “well shit, now I REALLY need to do something for her. She DIED because of me.” That's really what's driving his love (is it love anymore? idk) at this point. It feels like he's chasing to pay off his debt.
That's what I mean by “transactional.”
Okay, so Inuyasha loved Kagome too. But their love felt unconditional.
Kagome also showed him kindness, didn't try to kill him, treated him like a normal person etc. just like Kikyo. But she doesn’t really need anything from Inuyasha, right. She’s content with her life and all. So... she didn't ask for anything back. She just gave kindness to him and went on her merry way. Ok ya, sometimes she gets a lil grumpy (she’s human) but she always believes in him, trusts him to do the right thing, supports him when he's weak, yada yada... and like, that's it. Inuyasha even tries to make himself look like the bad guy, steals her shards, freakin’ pushes her into the well to get her to go home (cuz he didn’t want her to get hurt anymore), but Kagome comes back HUGGING him LMAO
Kagome is giving him literally nothing but love and trust and support. Not really expecting anything in return. She just wants to see him be his best and do his best. Encourage him during hard times. Even when she sees him with Kikyo lol… Clearly it hurts her and she realizes she caught feelings (oops), but she accepts that about herself and holds on to her desire to support him through and through.
She kinda says to him, "Hey… I know my place (in relation to Kikyo), but I still want to support you. I want to see you smile and be happy. Will you let me stay by your side?"
DAMN. Inuyasha says, "You’ll stay for me?" (well, in the anime in Japanese that's what he literally says, I replayed that scene like 500 times to make sure I heard it right). And she's like ya! Let's go!
CMONNNN. His brain is probably like “NO STOP! I OWE MY LIFE TO KIKYO!” but his heart is already saying “JFC THIS GIRL. I LOVE HER.” And he wants to do everything for her, not because he's indebted to her. It's not a transaction he needs to pay up. He does it because he really wants to.
So like, people making a ruckus about “Inuyasha Loved Kikyo!!!” vs “NO INUYASHA LOVED KAGOME!!” And I’m just sitting here going, uhh. I mean y'all both right! He... loved them both? Hello? And he loved very adorably for both of them. He’s such an honest lover.
But the circumstances in which he loved each girl are totally different.
With Kikyo, the circumstances were pretty dire. They were both deprived of something important to them. Her, a normal life. Him, just basic love and affection. They weren’t able to love each other with no strings attached bc they both still had stuff internally to deal with (her: the need to be liberated & him: insecurity). But, regardless, they shared a special bond that can’t be replaced. That’s a given.
Kagome... gave him better circumstances to love. Her love made him feel light. It felt so good and positive. She taught him a lot on what it means to trust and love someone unconditionally. He could show her all his ugly and she accepts that about him. She helped him meet lifelong friends too, Miroku, Sango, Shippo... And he really treasures her for that. They also shared a special bond that can’t be replaced, literally no one can replace bc he basically screams out loud (in the Meido) she is his soulmate. :’) suh cute
I think at the end, yeah, Kikyo might’ve got some smooches and our InuKag friends are like D: But… I’m romantic ace so maybe I see it differently, but it’s just a kiss. I never doubted that the only kiss that would truly make his eyes light up, the only kiss that could cause his entire soul to leap out of his own mouth and stun him into silence, is a kiss with Kagome. And Rumiko Takahashi did that without actually providing us a kiss scene (in the manga).
Takahashi made me trust Inuyasha like how he and Kagome trust each other. :((((
That’s... incredible. Standing ovation character building 👏🏼
#that's it#let’s just all love each other okay#i'm done with this fiasco#inuyasha#kagome#kagome higurashi#kikyo#inukik#inukag#inuyasha anime#inuyasha manga#my:posts#my:inumeta

I wrote a quick summary for this idea a while back, but in my desire for light and happy things, I doodled this and wrote out more to accompany it. Enjoy.
“Mo-chan, please don’t run so far ahead of mommy!” Kagome called out after her rambunctious daughter.
To the young girl’s credit, she did marginally slow down for her mother, but she was still a distance away. At least there were no streets for her to cross anymore.
Kagome huffed behind. She was in pretty good shape having raised her energetic girl, but with a heavy backpack full of snacks and an ever-growing checklist of single-mother supplies, Kagome struggled to keep up with her. Moroha was always on the go, always wanting to dive headfirst into all activities, always ready to explore.
“Mommy, let’s go!” She had already reached the door and was jumping in place. Her walking shoes tapped against the ground in excited impatience.
“I’m coming!”
When Kagome reached the entrance, Moroha was kind enough to open the door wide for her. Despite her tiny frame and frantic energy, she had a big heart. At least she was doing something right as her mother. Kagome thanked her and gave her a pat on the head as the girl rushed inside the dojo, her hair flouncing up and down in its little ponytail.
“Sensei! We’re here!” Moroha boldly announced their presence. She got inside and made fast work of removing her shoes and placing them in the cubby area.
Her teacher set down some equipment before stretching back up to turn towards them. Kagome fought down a blush. So Moroha had a handsome karate instructor. Sue her for having a little bit of a crush.
“Oi, Moroha, you’re all fired up today again, huh?” He looked back at Kagome at the entrance. She gave a little wave. “H-Hey,” he welcomed her.
Moroha ran right up to him and gave him a fast but low bow. “Sensei, I’ve been practicing my splits! Look!” She was on the floor the next moment, practically jumping into the position before raising her hands up high. “Tada!”
“Nice work there, kiddo. Go stretch or you’ll pull something.”
Kagome fought down the urge to clap for her daughter as she usually did when they were home. “Don’t worry too much about her warming up. She’s been moving and practicing non-stop all week.”
“Is that right?”
The door opened again, and a red-headed boy walked in the door.
“I’m here” the kid announced, an air of snark in his voice.
“Oh, hello Shippou-chan,” Kagome greeted the seven-year old as he stepped into the dojo.
Upon hearing her, the boy’s eyes lit up. “Kagome!” His tone did a 180. He went up to hug her with a big smile.
“How are you today? How’s school been?”
He grinned wide. “I’m good. School’s easy.”
She mussed up his hair. “Easy for a smart boy like you, huh?”
He rubbed his nose smugly. Shippou was a difficult child, but she managed to get in his good graces years ago. Sure, he used her first name, but most of the kids from his class did. She’d only been a part-time aide at their school at the time.
“Oi, Shippou. Get to stretching!” their teacher demanded.
Shippou rolled his eyes. For as much as he adored Kagome, he liked to be difficult with others, and for some reason he enjoyed showing attitude to their instructor. “Hey, Inuyasha,” he sneered.
“Sensei,” Moroha and Inuyasha corrected simultaneously, both aghast the disrespect.
“Inuyasha-sensei,” he mocked.
Kagome giggled to herself.
It was Inuyasha’s turn to roll his eyes. “Just get to stretching, brat. You too Moroha.”
“Yes, Nishiyama-sensei,” Moroha made a point to annunciate before running towards Shippou. They may have been two years apart, but they got along well. Maybe because Shippou had no siblings, but always wanted to be a big brother.
“Shippou! I can do a split now, watch me!”
Inuyasha took a second to walk over to Kagome and properly greet her. It’d been five weeks since Moroha had enrolled in lessons, and he’d quickly grown fond of her. They had a weird kinship that came naturally. He and her mother had a different kind of connection.
“Yo, Higurashi-san.” He tried to sound casual. Cool. Mature.
“How are you doing today, Nishiyama-sensei?”
“Good, great. Looks like your girl has been working hard at home.”
Kagome beamed, first at Moroha and then at him. “I think if she could live in the dojo she would. Since she started lessons it’s become her goal to get to the next belt as fast as possible.”
He laughed, trying to push out some of the tension in his shoulders. “I wasn’t patient about it either.”
“I think I could’ve made that bet.” There was a twinkle in her eye; a spark that reminded him of the first day they met.
“She’ll get there before too long if she keeps this up.”
Her expression turned warm; her pretty smile turning something in Inuyasha’s chest.
“Thank you for looking after her. We’re very fond of you,” she said.
Inuyasha raised an eyebrow and opened his mouth to speak, but Kagome suddenly seized up. Her eyes went wide and her hands flew up. “As her teacher!” She quickly added, practically shrieking. “You’re a great teacher. Moroha has already learned so much and we’re always excited to see you. I mean she! Moroha is always excited to see you.” She averted her gaze, sweating and flustered.
Before he had a chance to respond, Kagome was scrambling with her bag and yelling out, “Oh, look at that. I have to get going! So much to do!”
“Wai—“
She peered over his tall frame and called out, “Mo-chan! Mommy is going to the store! I’ll be back to pick you up later! Bye!” The door shut, and in the blink of an eye she was gone.
Inuyasha’s jaw snapped closed as he processed. What had gotten into her? Part of him wanted to run after the woman, but that couldn’t happen with class starting in a few minutes. What would he even say to her? A few more students filtered into the dojo, so he did his best to focus on that. He had a class to teach, so he pushed Kagome as far out of his brain as he could… except that her daughter was front and center during the lesson.
We’re very fond of you.
Yeah, he definitely wasn’t going to be able to concentrate today.

Summary:
Back in the present day, Inuyasha tries his best to convince Kagome to manage The Strays again. She's understandably reticent and this irritates him. When he loses his temper, Kagome let's him know, in no uncertain terms that she is done dealing with his bullshit.
Notes:
Hello everyone, I'm back with another chapter. You'll get a little more information about the band and how exactly Inuyasha hurt Kagome. I really appreciate all the support so far, it has really helped me feel a bit more confident about posting this story.
So.... as for the music in this chapter. Who doesn't love a bit of Gotye's, Somebody That I Used to Know? I'll be honest, I hated this song for years because in college I worked for GAP and they played it endlessly. Thankfully, after the trauma of working retail faded, I was able to appreciate it again. lol.

Chapter 3: You Gave Me Lows I Won't Forget
Chapter Text
Present day…
Inuyasha tried to shove the memory of that first meeting to the back of his mind. He’d been such a fool back then, unable to see the amazing blessing just dropped into his lap by the hands of fate. He’d spent months trying to keep Kagome at arm’s length, growling and snapping at her to nurse a healthy animosity between them. It had been an effort in futility.
She was so sweet and forgiving to a fault, beating her way past his defenses with ease. Kagome wore her emotions on her sleeve. Even now, he could see the panic swimming in those crystalline blue eyes as she weaved her way around tables towards them. Her cheeks grew darker with embarrassment or anger, he wasn’t sure which…until her scent at last curled around him; it was definitely both.
Inuyasha’s eyes slipped closed, nostrils flaring as he pulled the pleasing aroma deep into his lungs…lavender and chamomile. A deep-seated sense of peace slipped through him that had been absent for the last six years. He almost fell to his knees, biting back a pathetic whine of desperate longing. Gods , he wanted to hug her, to imprint the feeling of her small body into his memory so that he could never forget again.
Mine , his demon growled from the back of his mind.
Inuyasha no longer denied this claim, but he had fucked up so bad, he knew that he had no right to voice it. Soon , he soothed that primal part of him. It was the reason he was here. He had a plan. It was growing difficult to remember, however, the longer he stared at her.
She was gorgeous. If he placed his lips to her body, Inuyasha was sure she would taste of summer. Kagome’s alabaster skin was sun-kissed like she’d been drenched in honey, and she was showing so much of it. The green tank top and tan shorts clung to her curves, leaving her slender arms and long legs on display. Those legs …Inuyasha almost groaned, remembering the many times they had wrapped around his naked hips as he buried his length inside of her trembling body.
Mine , his demon insisted again, to his irritation. Ours, learn to fucking share.
“You’re drooling again,” Sango hissed from Inuyasha’s side.
His jaw snapped shut as the reality of the situation once again settled on his shoulders, weighing them down. “You didn’t tell her?” he repeated with a growl.
“Of course not,” she scoffed. “I didn’t want her to outright refuse.”
He snarled. “Oh yeah, it’s much better that we spring it on her!”
“Kagome!” Miroku called over their bickering.
He stood and circled the table as she approached them, rolling a small suitcase behind her. Kagome released a strained laugh as he wrapped her up in a hug.
“Miroku! How are you?” she asked, pulling back to offer him a smile, even as her eyes darted in Inuyasha’s direction.
“I’m fantastic.”
“Looks like it,” Kagome replied, patting him on the back. “Engaged life seems to agree with you. You haven’t tried to grab my butt yet.”
Miroku shrugged. “What can I say? It feels pretty good being domesticated. There’s only one butt for me.”
“Good to know. I better be invited to the wedding,” she warned with a mock glare.
Sango finally unfolded her body and approached the other woman, grabbing her hands. “I kind of hoped you would be standing up there with me.” Inuyasha saw her shoulders bunch. “That is, if we’re still friends?”
Kagome pursed her lips before pulling her into a hug. “Of course we’re still friends, silly.”
“I promise, we aren’t trying to ambush you.” Sango stepped back with her arms still in a loose circle around her shoulders.
Kagome’s eyes narrowed as her plush lips twisted into a smirk. “Really? Because this feels a bit like an ambush.”
Inuyasha cursed under his breath and dragged a clawed hand down his face. He had thought this was a step forward, that she had agreed to meet him here. It had felt like a second chance and it hurt to have that sliver of hope completely ripped away from him.
He cleared his throat before lumbering to his feet and approaching them. Every eye turned to him and Inuyasha felt a blush creep up his neck. “I swear, I didn’t agree to this. I thought you knew I would be here.”
Kagome frowned. “If you wanted to talk, you could have just picked up the phone.”
“I kind of assumed that you had blocked me,” he replied, scratching at the back of his neck.
She gave a small shake of her head. “I didn’t; you could have called any time.”
The accusation was there in her tone, but Inuyasha couldn’t help but feel heartened. All this time, she had wanted to hear from him; that had to be a good thing. He felt that small ember of hope burst into full flame.
He stepped closer and snatched up her hand, rubbing his thumb along her soft skin. Kagome tensed but didn’t pull away. Inuyasha drew her out of Sango’s loose hold until she was standing toe to toe with him.
“I wanted to, every day I wanted to call you. I just didn’t know what to say,” he said, trying to infuse his voice with every ounce of debilitating regret he had struggled with for the last six years. “I still don’t know how to apologize for… everything.”
Kagome’s face softened, a small smile curling her lips. “You could always start with, ‘I’m sorry’.”
“Keh,” he scoffed. “That doesn’t really seem like enough but… I am sorry.” Inuyasha squeezed her hand. “I’m so sorry, Kagome.”
She took a deep breath and released it through her nose, her keen eyes darting between his. Inuyasha let her read it all, his remorse, his longing, his excitement at finally seeing her again. It was written all over his face and in his eyes. Inuyasha was done hiding things from his mate—except for the fact that she was his mate.
Too soon . She would run screaming. Inuyasha had to prove that he was worthy, that he could be everything she needed. He had to find a way to earn her love again.
Kagome’s flush deepened the longer he stared at her, until she finally cleared her throat and looked away. “So, why am I here?”
He was very aware that she hadn’t offered her forgiveness, but she was giving him an opening. He’d be a fool not to take it. Inuyasha grabbed her suitcase from the floor and led her toward the seat that Sango had vacated.
Kagome perched on the edge of the wooden chair and readjusted the purse strap on her shoulder. He didn’t like how stiff she seemed, like she was ready to bolt at any minute. He placed her suitcase beside her as she whispered out a ‘thank you’.
Inuyasha reclaimed the seat across from her and scooted closer until their knees were almost touching. “Thank you … for staying. I know this must be a little jarring.”
“Well, I still consider you all friends, at least,” Kagome said, shifting into a more comfortable position as she dropped her bag to the floor. “Not like I’m just going to run out the door.”
“Still friends, huh?” he asked with a grin. “That’s good to know.”
Her face softened with an answering smile. “You’ll always be my friend, Inuyasha.”
He opened his mouth, but words refused to come. He gaped like a fish, unable to voice what that declaration did to his feeble heart.
Sango cleared her throat as she claimed the seat on the other side of Kagome, Miroku taking the one beside her.
“Get to the point, dummy,” she grumbled. “Stop staring at her like she hung the fucking moon.”
Inuyasha scowled, but Kagome released a short giggle that was like fucking candy to his sensitive ears. He felt them wiggle as a shiver tripped down his spine. Fuck , it had been too long since he heard that sound. She was laughing at him, but he couldn’t bring himself to care. If that’s what it took to bring her joy, he’d make a complete fool of himself just for her entertainment… anything to see the smile that so entranced him. She looked beautiful.
The long black hair, that normally fell well past Kagome’s shoulders, was bundled into a messy knot on top of her head. Several dark strands had worked their way free and wisped around her face and neck, looking impossibly soft. He almost reached out his hand to wrap those delicate tendrils around his fingers.
Miroku coughed. “Inuyasha?”
He shook himself back to the matter at hand and rubbed his clammy palms on the front of his jeans. How did he ask this? Was there a way to do it gently? He couldn’t think of anything better than just blurting it out. “We want you to manage us again.”
--------------------------------------------------------------
Kagome gawked, mouth working without any sound emerging. Inuyasha’s face looked so hopeful, so bright and lively. She was tempted to shout out ‘yes’ without even thinking, but she restrained herself. She had more to think about than just her own desires.
"Why? Are you working on something new?” she asked, instead of answering.
“Inuyasha has been,” Miroku replied with an encouraging smile.
The half-demon in question flushed and cleared his throat before looking away.
Kagome raised a brow. Inuyasha had never been shy about sharing his work. He was proud of it, as he should be. He was a brilliant songwriter, composer, and could play almost any instrument that was placed in his hands. So, his reluctance to share intrigued her.
“Oh?” she prompted gently.
He shrugged. “Well, it’s a bit different from our normal stuff.”
“Has the label agreed to renew your contract?”
“Not exactly.” It was no secret that he was considered a liability. All the women, drugs, drinking, and run-ins with law enforcement had added up to a lot of bad press over the years. “That’s why I need you,” he finished, grabbing onto her hand again.
Kagome didn’t reveal what that small contact did to her. It had been so long since she had heard his voice or even seen him, but still his touch stripped her bare. Inuyasha needed her; he’d never admitted that before.
Dammit, get your head together, girl. You know this only one way.
Heartbreak…
She stifled a huff of irritation and endeavored to keep her face blanked of emotion.
“That’s why we need you,” Sango corrected from her other side.
Kagome turned to look at the other woman, noting the apology in her eyes, even as she willingly participated in this emotional manipulation. She knew how hard their falling out had been on Kagome. Apparently, her lingering trauma mattered little.
She’d been their manager for three years and, in the beginning, it had been lovely. Well…not the beginning, exactly, somewhere more towards the middle. In the beginning, Inuyasha had behaved like a caged animal, hissing and spitting anytime she tried to draw near. Getting to know him was like peeling back the layers on an onion, as it also made her cry.
It had taken almost a year for him to warm up to her but it had been worth the wait. Despite his rather gruff and harsh exterior, Inuyasha could be sweet, considerate, and clever. Not to mention that he possessed a set of pipes that turned most girls’ knees to jelly, it certainly had hers. After some time, they had found that they really did get alongmaybe too well. Kagome had broken her cardinal rule for him; never sleep with a client.
She wasn’t entirely sure how she could have resisted, though. Maybe it was the superhuman good looks. Maybe it was his natural talent and charisma. Maybe it was the way he made her cum so hard she saw stars. There was something about Inuyasha that drew her in and kept her ensnared, even when things had started to turn.
It happened so fast. Kagome had thought they were building something together, an actual relationship that, up to that point, had remained undefined. When one day, out of the blue, Inuyasha had changed from this rough around the edges guy with a heart of gold, to a freewheeling playboy who fucked anything in a tight skirt. He had shattered her heart into crystalline shards so tiny and delicate that it could never be made whole again.
And yet, she had stayed, hoping beyond hope that he would come to his senses. The life of a rockstar was bound to get to anyone from time to time… but then, there was the drinking and the drugs. Still, she stayed, cleaning up after every one of his messes, bailing him out of jail, burying bad press, dying inside as he dismissed her afterwards with little more than a wave of thanks.
Kagome hated to remember herself back then, this pathetic little girl so head over heels in love that she would let herself be treated like dirt. It made her furious and confused. She still didn’t know what had set him off.
Well… that was just an outright lie, wasn’t it? She knew, of course she knew.
She had told Inuyasha that she loved him.
Kagome just wasn’t sure why that had sparked a full-on downward spiral.. but she was sure that she couldn’t go through it again.
She frowned, slipping her hand from his. “I-I don’t know if that’s a good idea.”
“What?” Inuyasha whispered, ears drooping. “Why not?”
She nearly relented at the soulful puppy eyes he turned on her but steeled herself. “I’m not with the label anymore. I started my own company. We manage dozens of clients. I can’t pass off my other accounts just to focus on you.”
Kagome watched the muscles in his jaw bunch, preparing herself for one of his tirades, when he surprised her. Inuyasha took a deep breath through his nose and leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees, his gaze fixed on his intertwined fingers.
“If you’re worried about it, you should know, I’m clean.” He tsked and rolled his eyes. “Well, clean of anything that could get me arrested, anyway. Thank the gods weed is legal in Nevada now,” he said with a weak chuckle while rubbing at his brow. “I would’ve gone crazy a long time ago.”
He didn’t look at her the entire time he spoke, shame and regret hunching his broad shoulders. It had to be difficult to talk about, especially with the others sitting so close. To their credit, Miroku and Sango remained quiet, their sympathetic gazes offering silent support amid his vulnerability.
“But I can quit that, too,” Inuyasha rushed to say. “If that would help. Whatever makes you comfortable.”
Kagome’s heart lurched and without thinking, she reached out to grab his hand. “That’s not what I was talking about, but it’s good to know that you’re taking care of yourself.”
His molten golden eyes whipped up to hers filled with surprise and a glimmer of soft affection. Dammit! Stay strong, Higurashi, stay strong.
Inuyasha kept a firm grip on her fingers and sat forward, licking his lips. “Well, tell me what to do. Whatever it is, I’ll do it.”
“That’s not…” Kagome shook her head. “I’m not sure there’s anything to do . We just don’t work very well together.”
“What the hell are you talking about?” he scoffed. “We make a great team.” He swallowed before gesturing across the table. “All of us.”
“We did, for a while, that’s true.” She averted her eyes, picking at the peeling varnish on the tabletop with a single nail. “And—"
“And then I screwed up, I know,” he interrupted matter-of-factly. “But I-I’m better now. I feel better. I feel like myself again, if a slightly banged up version.” Inuyasha winced and waved his free hand through the air while continuing to swipe his thumb back and forth over her knuckles in an almost obsessive gesture. “That’s…irrelevant, but my point is, I’m not that guy anymore.”
Kagome pursed her lips as her eyes began to warm. “And I’m glad, but I can’t put myself in that situation again.”
“Didn’t I just say that you wouldn’t have to?” he bit out, beginning to show some of the characteristic temper that he had so far controlled.
“Yes,” she agreed in a breathy whisper. “But it doesn’t mean that you can erase what happened, Inuyasha.”
“I know what happened! I did it!” he snapped, voice rising as he started to fidget. “But I’m trying to fix it, dammit!”
“Sometimes you can’t,” she replied in a firm tone. “Sometimes things are just broken. You can’t put Humpty Dumpty back together again, or unring a bell, or…”
“Put the toothpaste back in the tube?” Miroku supplied, reminding her that there were still other people privy to what was becoming a very personal conversation.
Three sets of eyes narrowed on him, and Miroku shrank under their gazes.
Sango reached out, smacking the back of his head. “Idiot.”
“Ow.” The poor man hissed.
Kagome released an exasperated breath and brushed a few strands of hair away from her eyes. “Inu—” She bit her lip, “The bottom line is that I can’t give you the type of attention that you would need.”
“Can’t or won’t?” he sneered, crossing his arms over his chest.
She dropped her gaze to her hands in her lap, feeling isolated in a group of people that she had once considered family. “Both?”
“The fuck does that mean?” He was plucking at old wounds that had never been set properly, drawing up a past that she didn’t want to revisit.
“Inuyasha,” Sango warned.
“No, if she’s just gonna abandon me—” He cleared his throat. “I mean, us. I want to hear why!”
With those words, Inuyasha might as well have stepped forward and torn one of those sharp claws through the aging stitches that held her heart together. Kagome shuddered as hurt and anger bubbled up from the bloodied lump within her chest.
She slapped a hand down on the table. “Abandon you?” she hissed through clenched teeth as her vision swam with tears. “Abandon you?” She turned her furious gaze on the origin of her ire and took little pleasure when Inuyasha gulped, looking as if he would rather hug his brother than continue this conversation. “Do you have any idea how many times I had to watch you walk away from me? Like I was nothing?!”
“Kagome,” Sango whispered from her side, but she was beyond listening.
For too long, she had swallowed her feelings, more willing to hurt inside than inflict that hurt on its source, but she was done. Let Inuyasha see what he wrought and answer for the harm he caused.
“You selfish ass,” she hissed. “Don’t you think, even for a moment, that you’re the only one who is hurt here. Don’t you dare think that you’re the only one with wounds or regrets.” Kagome’s chin jutted up even as a tear breached her eyelid and tumbled down her cheek. “You want to know the real reason?”
Despite all his bluster a moment before, Inuyasha looked unsure, but she continued unperturbed.
“The real reason is you . No one, in my whole life, has ever made me feel so small. Like my concern, my efforts, my very existence were all worthless,” she seethed. “You broke me. Excuse me if I’m not insane enough to jump back into that situation.”
Tears were free flowing down her cheeks and a sob curled in her throat. Everything was just too raw, too exposed. She was beginning to feel like that same young woman who would do anything just for him to smile at her. She needed to get away, needed some space.
Kagome reached down and grabbed her purse, slinging it over her shoulder. She mumbled out a lame excuse that wasn’t fooling anyone and hightailed it to the bathroom, leaving a stricken Inuyasha staring after her.

Rumic boys being clingy to their wives. plsss. and also your art is amazing
FIRST OF ALL, THANK YOU FOR LOVING MY ART!! AKMJHSBDJHAS
Also I wanted to draw each couple to prove your point because I 100% agree with you but can't today so I will leave you with headcanons of each of them!!
Ataru: Ataru Moroboshi is clingy as heck after Lum and he began to formally date and it's funny because they are kinda are before that but now Ataru is more openly hugging her, holding her hand or having his arm around her shoulder or her waist. He became starving for touch after feeling it fully when they began to openly date and hasn't gone back on that even when married, heck it even got worse. Also he is the bigger spoon
Ranma: This is a funny case because he is shyer in physical affection at first, when they began to date Ranma did his best in holding her hand and hugging Akane more. However, in kissing he is the best meanwhile in the other he still is a far cry before the engagement. When they are married he is pretty touchy and like to "Train" with Akane just to feel her more even when they are practicing some new moves he manages to steal a touch or hold onto her. He becomes super clingy to her, like hugging her when they are in more private places.
Inuyasha: Can't say more than what is in canon, he is 100% clingy of Kagome as his wife, he loves hugging her, kissing her and she being on his side. He is super affectionate privately and loves to hold her hand outside.
Rinne: He is super affectionate to Sakura Rokudou, he loves to hold her and her hand, she is his most comfortable pillow while sleeping and they always sleep hugging because this boy loves her so much. She's too precious for him, he always loves sharing his affection in some way with her.
Mao: When Mao discovers how physically Nanoka's love language is it will be over for him because he will love it. He will know how such a simple contact with her hand now feels more intimate than what he felt before, he will find every time to hug her as he will starve her touch. He will become greedy and will find any way to make their bodies or hand touch in the most subtle ways when they get married.
Yuta: This young man was robbed of a lot of girls he loved so when he actually marries the love of his life who is Mana and she also lives eternally like him it will be a ride. Mana will learn from him how touchy and physically affectionate he is, he was already protective of her and now when they date and then get married she will see how he searches for every opportunity to have her in his arms, to hold her hand or to kiss her in the purest and deepest way. He is super clingy and she is curious and happy on responding to his affections the best way she can.

rules: pick 10 characters from 10 fandoms and tag 10 people
not gonna lie, these descriptions will probably be pretty short but just know i love all of these characters with my whole chest

2: bob belcher- i am him, he is me, we are one. bob's burgers is my go to comfort show and i just love bob so much. he's such a loving husband, father, and friend. so unproblematic, ugh i just love him
3: trevor belmont- this man had me hooked, he's so funny, stubborn, and skilled. i don't know much about castlevania other than what i've seen in the show and i loved him the minute i saw him
4: padme amidala- i absolutely loved natalie portman's portyal of padme. the prequel series really left a mark on my childhood and i still love watching them. she's just such a badass character, her and anakin should have been at the club
5: pike trickfoot- while i love the whole vox machina crew, i have loved watching pike's journey throughout the show (i really need to watch the campaign too) but this show and character deepened my interest in dnd and is just so fun to watch
6: dean winchester- i mean, what more can i say.. this man still has a grip on me after i first saw him for the first time when i was in middle school. seeing his complexities, his love for sammie, cas, and bobby is so heartwarming. just give this man a hug please

8: inuyasha- this is the first anime i ever watched, back when you hoped to god all the episodes with subtitles could be found on youtube or else you had to scour the internet looking for a website that would actually worked. his bond with kagome, the sassiness, just everything about him kept me watching the show

December Drabbles Day 16 - 'Tis the Season
Read on AO3.
Banner fan art by the amazing @sayuri-liu
For shastuhh. Love you, friend! Sending you all the virtual hugs I can muster! I hope you'll have a peaceful and healthy holiday season! 💙💙
Day 16 - 'Tis the Season
Kagome rolled over on the futon, burrowed deeper under her blanket and groaned. Her head was pounding, and the fever was muddling her brain. The sweat had dried on her forehead and now chills racked her body. She had no idea how long she’d been lying here. Thinking was too strenuous an activity right now and anyway, she’d lost all sense of time because she kept dozing off.
Hunger clawed in her stomach, but she had no appetite. She would have been too weak to get up to prepare food, anyway. Besides, her throat was all prickly and sore, as if someone had shoved a cactus in there.
Kagome was pretty sure it was just the flu, though she’d never been this sick in her life. But if it was the flu, she probably wouldn’t die. Even though at times, when even her bones hurt and the coughing didn’t seem to stop, death didn't feel too far off. Maybe, in a couple of minutes, she could try to get up and have a bit of water. She’d just rest here a bit first...
She woke up to the scrape of shoes at the entrance of her hut.
“Don’t come in,” she croaked in a gravelly voice. “I’m sick.”
“So this Sesshoumaru has been told,” a familiar haughty voice replied.
Soon enough, his feet entered the line of her vision, as the daiyoukai stopped to loom at her bedside. He sniffed.
“I was also told you had forbidden everyone from entering your hut.”
“Don’t want to infect anyone else,” Kagome managed, right before a coughing fit struck her.
“And the hanyou is conveniently cavorting somewhere.”
“Helping Miroku,” Kagome explained from between the coughs.
“I suppose that explains why Rin sent for me.” Sesshoumaru sighed. “What a bother this fragile humanity is.”
He stomped off. Something rustled, and another thing clanked.
Kagome blinked through the haze of cotton that her mind had become, trying to figure out if this was real or a fever dream.
But then, a moment later, light and heat flooded the hut. Sesshoumaru had lit the hearth. More rummaging sounds followed. Kagome closed her eyes for just a minute.
Warm, strong hands touched her shoulders, jerking her awake.
“Come now,” he said. The tone of his voice seemed to have lost some of its earlier gruffness. He lifted her effortlessly into his arms, blanket and all. Kagome stared up at him with awed bleary eyes as he tucked her against the crook of his shoulder, so she was half sitting.
“Here. Drink.”
He pushed a ceramic cup into her hands and bracketed them with his own.
Kagome drank and the familiar earthy taste of tea was the sweetest thing that had ever hit her tongue.
The tea was followed by soup and a bit of rice. And then, after feeding her, he tugged down the fur from his shoulder and swathed her in. He shifted her a little, then leaned his back against the wall of her hut.
“Rest now.” The words were soft enough to sound more like coaxing than a command.
Kagome watched him through hooded eyes and briefly wondered if she should point out that her perfectly serviceable futon was just a few yards away. But his lap was comfortable and oddly enough made her feel safe. So she held her tongue, snuggled a little closer to him and let her eyes fall shut. Surrounded by the soft cloud of the fur and cradled by Sesshoumaru’s steady arms, Kagome smiled.

Fandom: Shaman King Flowers
Characters: Yosuke, Kagome
Word Count: 912
This fic is for that one anon on Aonik's tumbler and Aonik too I guess. There's art this was based off of and y'all welcome its becoming public now. Also I got the AU wrong to for the art. Whoops?
Kagome's not stupid. She's seen the IOUs scattered around Yosuke's messy apartment when he thinks no one's looking. They're loans really, with interest rates so high they're only meant to bury someone alive. She doesn't know why Yosuke feels the need to flash around money he doesn't have. He could have less debt living out of a modest apartment and dressed in the simple attire of his youth. Instead he's 21, dressed to the nines, and suffocating under whatever self imposed persona he has.
She's never given the impression she's into money has she?
Yet she doesn't say no to the single shoulder dark blue dress that hugs her perfectly and has a slit up one leg. She should turn it down because she see's the IOU for it peeking out from under a fashion magazine on the coffee table, but she looks so damn good in it. If Yosuke wants to destroy himself then she should get to have one night where she doesn't have to worry about him.
When Yosuke comes out of his bedroom she half expects him to be in a coat with tails.
“Something wrong?” Yosuke asks, adjusting his bow tie and unaware of what she's just been looking at.
“Just not what I was expecting. It's modest for you these days,” Kagome answers, taking in the black suspenders over his white dress shirt. Her eye's glance at the IOU as she nudges it further out of sight and she has to wonder if all of his budget for whatever this is went to her.
“When you're crashing a party it's best not to standout,” Yosuke answers, his arms snaking around her waist and a little lower than she'd prefer.
“We're crashing a party? I thought this was for your job?”
What job she's not sure. She's pretty sure Yosuke should be homeless yet he always defies all odds and she allows herself to keep following it blindly.
“It is,” Yosuke answers, before his eyes narrow, “I wasn't invited.”
“You're not even going to get in the door.”
If they are dressed this nicely then it has to be a high class event. Someone is going to be watching the door ensuring only those on the guest list enter.
“I can just reattach the tags and your can return it and get your money back.”
“Keep it. It looks good,” Yosuke whispers pulling her closer.
She has her clutch up and blocking Yosuke before his lips can try anything. She loves him, she really does, but she also doesn't like whatever he's become. She wants the old Yosuke back. She's not going to let him kiss her with those lying lips.
“I'm not stupid, Yosuke,” she replies, prying his fingers off easily so she can reach down and grab the IOU and shove it at him. “You've got hundreds of these littered around. I thought your mom taught you good spending habits?”
“Everyone has a little debt, Kagome,” Yosuke shrugs.
“This isn't a little debt. Do you even have any money? Do you think I won't look at you if you're poor?”
“It's complicated,” Yosuke huffs.
“It's not,” Kagome answers poking a finger at his chest, “I don't care what you can or can't buy me Kamogawa Yosuke. I care about the nerdy little boy I went to school with before whatever this is happened.”
“Then you're wasting your time, Kagome. He's dead. He's dead because nobody cared, but now somebody does.”
“Using you so you wrack up a debt isn't caring, Yosuke, and you're wrong. I've always cared about you.”
“Well you shouldn't have,” Yosuke yells, and Kagome's not sure the last time she's seen him get truly angry. It's a crack in the mask. It's a glimpse back at the boy who faded away.
“We can get this under control,” Kagome softens, her hand cupping Yosuke's face.
“I'm not taking you down with me,” Yosuke mumbles, not meeting her eyes.
“That's not your choice, Yosuke. It's mine.”
“Just keep the dress and leave. I don't feel like going out anymore.”
He's defeated and she doesn't know why. She's always reaching her hand out to him and he always refuses it. She doesn't understand why he doesn't want to be pulled up from whatever pit he's in.
“I'm sorry,” Kagome whispers, but it's too late. He's shut down again. He's closed off. What was supposed to be another nice evening is ruined before it's even started. It seems all they do is fight. Maybe it's all Yosuke thinks he deserves.
She leaves him because staying never accomplishes anything. The IOUs keep piling up. He refuses to listen to reason, and Kagome can only break her own heart so much.
The IOU for her dress sits crumpled in her hand. She'll return it or at least she'll try her best to return it without the receipt because Yosuke would never give that to her. She'll find the rest of the money as well. She can't pay off all of Yosuke's debt but she can at least pay off this one. She can march into the building of the Yahabe corporation and see at least what Yosuke has gotten himself into that he insists he can't get back out of.
She'll save him. She'll save him even if he'll never look at her again for doing it.
#shaman king flowers#yosuke kamogawa#kagome#flowers is my catchall name for everything post the OG#and since yahabe never got to be a series and takei worked it into flowers#it gets the flowers tag#still salty that I wanted to make them spies but then i couldn't get it to work#also salty that no one would actually stab the other with a dinner knife#but in my defense that was the EXACT energy the art gave off#but luckily I know two other characters with just as chaotic love and would stab each other with knives

A Thousand Days With You (5)
Series Master List
The restaurant is slightly upscale, like mid-range salary men upscale. The lights are harsh, the ambiance is off, and the menu is mediocre at best. This place is clearly for those that want to feel like they belong, but are still too poor to afford the five-star restaurant down the block.
And this is where Kagome's date brought her to? That curve hugging baby blue dress is being wasted on some non-factor, powerless, can't tell a joke for shit, boy.
He refuses to believe that this…guy is a man. A snail would have been a better alternative.
"You realize this classifies you as a stalker, right?" Megumi states, poking at his food with his chopsticks. Tsumiki frowns, shakes her head, and resumes eating. Her pink knitted top contrasts with Megumi's oversized black top.
"Gojo-san isn't a stalker," Tsumiki admonishes, lightly slapping Megumi's arm. She sets her chopsticks down and brushes her brown hair back, tucking it behind her ears. "It's just a coincidence that Higurashi-sensei is here."
"There's nothing coincidental about this." Megumi takes a bite of his food and grimaces.
Yeah, as much as Megumi likes to pretend otherwise, his food pallet has increased thanks to him. Megumi should show him some more gratitude.
"Ya know Gumi-chan, you're being a real grump tonight." Satoru clucks his tongue as he lifts his glass, pretending to take a sip. Instead, he glowers at the couple sitting two tables down.
Who the hell is that guy? He's plain. Has no fashion sense, even Ijichi dresses better. His brown hair may as well be the same color as shit. And his laugh is like the sound of a curse being exorcised.
Kagome turned him down to go out with this guy? She must be a sadist. Edging him in public, turning him down, and now flaunting this…this thing in front of him.
"It's creepy, is what it is. Walking Higurashi-sensei home and now crashing her date."
"Keep it up and you can pay for your own dinner."
"Okay? It's not like I don't have it." Megumi rolls his eyes and huffs.
"Do you like Higurashi-sensei?" Tsumiki asks. She doesn't blink. Just stares at him with a placating smile on her face as though he will jump out of his skin.
"No," he says with a small laugh, but the laugh is forced. Nearly gets stuck in his throat. "No. I don't like Kagome like that." He sets his glass down and leans forward. "She's going to be teaching with me at Jujutsu High, but you gotta keep it under wraps. I don't think she's told the school yet."
"Ooh," Tsumiki exclaims. "Well, that will be fun. So, you'll have Higurashi-sensei as your teacher next year too," she says to Megumi, who squeezes his eyes shut and mutters under his breath.
He should have just brought Tsumiki out to eat because Megumi has been the opposite of helpful. And after all that he has some for Megumi, this is how he repays his kindness?
The audacity.
"Just because she's going to be a teacher there doesn't mean you should stalk her here."
"Stalk is such a strong word." Satoru leans back in his chair and pushes his plate to the side. Yeah, there is no way he is finishing his meal. It's far too bland. "I asked if you two wanted to go out and get dinner tonight, you said yes —"
"I said no."
"You said yes," Satoru continues, "so I suggested a new spot to try out. How was I to know the food sucks?"
"I said no," Megumi repeats. "Tsumiki said yes, and you decided that we just had to go to this restaurant that Higurashi-sensei just so happens to be at." Megumi leans forward, his voice low, "I bet you tracked her energy."
Satoru pushes his shades up and crosses his arms. "So, you do pay attention. Tell me, how I could have tracked Kagome's energy from across town?"
"This is pretty far from the apartment," Tsumiki agrees. "It really is just a coincidence, Megumi." Tsumiki looks behind her. "Higurashi-sensei looks like she's having a great time."
"Her smile is fake," Satoru points out. "She keeps looking at her watch."
"…oh?" Tsumiki glances at Megumi, who throws his hands up.
"And her body language is off. Look at how her feet a pointed to the door. She wants someone to rescue her."
"That is not what that means." Megumi lies his head on the table and closes his eyes. Tsumiki pokes him.
Satoru snaps his fingers in front of Megumi's face. "Pay attention. You need this in the field. You might come across someone that needs your help, but they may not have the words to vocalize it." He points at Kagome, who still won't look back at him. "Look at how she shrinks away from him like he washed his hair in manure."
"I don't think…" Tsumiki trails off. "She does keep looking at her watch. She might need to get home soon since it's a school night."
"Right and when someone is giving off cues that they need help, we should always step in." Satoru waves the waiter down and hands her some yen for the bill.
"Thought I was paying for myself," Megumi deadpans.
"Alright, we need to do formation A."
"The hell is formation A?" Megumi sighs and lifts his head from the table.
"Language," Tsumiki warns. "Formation A is we walk by, but trip and knock the drinks over. Are we knocking the drinks on Higurashi-sensei?"
"WHAT?" Megumi drags his hands down his face. "That is the dumbest—"
"Nah, we gotta knock it on the date. Give him a reason to cut the date short and go home. We don't want Kagome to walk out in a wet dress."
For obvious reasons.
"I can't do it," Satoru continues, "no one would believe it. Megumi?"
"No."
"Megumi," Tsumiki says with a sigh, "didn't you hear what Gojo-san said? You're always going on about saving people, but you don't want to help Higurashi-sensei? Look at her! She's about to bolt out of that seat. We have to help her. What if he's some creep?"
Satoru bites the inside of his cheeks. At least someone has his back.
"The only creep here is him." Megumi points a finger at Satoru.
They stare at one another for a beat. Megumi groans and stands right as the waiter returns with Satoru's change. "For the record, I still think this is stupid."
Tsumiki gives him a thumbs up and sucks in a breath as she waits for her cue. Formation A is a go.
Satoru unbuttons the top button of his white shirt and grabs his jacket. There's a crash as Megumi trips and knocks the drinks over. The man yelps.
Fucking yelps. Satoru rolls his eyes. His first assessment was correct. That is no man, but a boy pretending to be worthy of Kagome.
"Oh! Megumi!" Tsumiki wails, "Are you okay?" Tsumiki rushes to Megumi's side and helps him up.
"My suit is ruined!"
"It's just a little water," Kagome says.
"You need to pay for this!"
And that's his cue. Satoru saunters over and places a hand on the back of Kagome's chair. He sniffs. What is that vanilla and cinnamon? She smells good enough to eat. "I hope there's no problem over here." He grins, showing off his teeth. "Megumi-kun is a bit of klutz, but he didn't mean to ruin your suit. Right Megumi?"
Megumi sucks in a breath. "No, it was truly an accident. I'm sorry Higurashi-sensei for ruining your night."
Kagome tilts her head to the side, baring her neck to him. Satoru blinks. Since when is he a neck guy?
"It's really not that big of a deal. It is just a glass of water, after all. Right, Mori-san?"
"Of course not. It's fine." The man smiles, but it's tight. Forced. And Satoru wonders how far until the man breaks.
"That's wonderful, but to make it up to ya. Here, you can take your suit to the dry cleaners. I recommend the one two blocks over, by the—"
"I know which one you are referring to." The man waves the yen away and stands. "I think it's time we get out of here, Higurashi-san. Lest there be any other accidents."
"Oh? Okay." Kagome reaches for her purse and tries to scoot back, but Satoru keeps a firm hand on her chair. Why is this guy still trying to leave with Kagome? Can't he take a hint? "Satoru, I'm trying to get out of my seat."
"Satoru?"
His smile widens. "Of course, Kagome-chan. Here, let me pull your seat out for you." He makes a big show out of helping her out of her seat. Megumi rolls his eyes while Tsumiki continues to fawn over Megumi as though he truly is a klutz. When this is all over, he should give Tsumiki some extra money. Maybe she and some of her friends would like a trip out of the country.
Megumi, on the other hand… he should make him run two hundred laps around the school.
"Wait, Higurashi-san, you know these people? This man?" The guy wets his lips. His brows furrow together.
Satoru takes his jacket and drapes it over Kagome's shoulder. It's getting cold out and it doesn't look like she thought to bring something warm to wear. Is she allergic to pants? Maybe he should have her uniform outfitted to be the baggiest pants imaginable.
"Oh, well Megumi-kun and Tsumiki-chan both attend the school I work at. Satoru, here, is their guardian." Kagome shrugs off his jacket and hands it back to him. She ushers for them to leave the restaurant. The guy keeps glancing back over his shoulder as if he expects for Satoru to take off with Kagome.
He considered it.
"Well, it was good meeting you all," the guy says with the fakest smile on his face. "Higurashi-san, are you ready? I can take the train with you and then catch the next one to my place."
"Train? In those heels?" Satoru scoffs. "Kagome, I don't have a problem driving you back to your spot. The kiddos and I decided it was better to drive with how far out this is." He drapes the jacket over her shoulders once more and inwardly preens when she grips it tighter to her body.
Good, now she will smell like him.
Shit-hair glares at him and then snatches the jacket off Kagome, and tosses it back at Satoru. "We do not need your help. Higurashi-san and I are on a date. As fun as this meeting has been, I think you have overstayed your welcome."
Satoru catches his jacket before it hits infinity and looks up at the sky. Harming a civilian would be heavily frowned upon.
"What he just did was rude," Tsumiki says behind him. Megumi grunts in response.
"Okay," Kagome interjects, holding her hands out. "Mori-san, it's been fun. But I am going to end our date here. Looks like tensions are a bit high right now and everyone needs to calm down."
"I'm calm."
"Satoru, you are not calm." Kagome rubs her forehead. Her tits look fucking amazing. How could she waste a dress like that on a man who looks like he's been inbred? "At any rate, I will be taking off. Mori-san, there is no need for you to ride the train to my apartment and then catch another one. Satoru, I am not riding with you. Megumi-kun and Tsumiki-chan, I will see you tomorrow morning." Kagome smiles at whatever his name is and doesn't even give Satoru a hug goodbye. Instead, she squeezes his arm and gives him a bit of a shock.
He shivers.
"No hug?" he sticks his bottom lip out, turns his back to… that guy and holds out his arms.
"...We don't hug?" Her tongue darts out, wetting her full lips, and he can't get the image of her wrapping those lips around her chopsticks out of his head.
"You're disgusting."
He ignores Megumi and lets out a long sigh, as though his feelings are so hurt. Kagome shakes her head and walks away. Her laughter floats past him.
Wait.
Where is she going?
"Higurashi-san!" The man tries to brush past Satoru but falls right on his ass. He rubs his nose, dusts his wet pants, and tries again, only to fall back down. Kagome continues to walk until Satoru can't make out the sway of her ass in the crowd.
A damn shame. He would have taken her somewhere better. Maybe somewhere with a beach so she could wear a bikini.
"What the hell is going on?" the guy mutters, standing once more, only to fall back down.
"Jeez, Megumi-kun, did ya spill some of your clumsiness on him when you spilled the water?" Satoru tsks. "C'mon on you two, it is a school night, after all." He puts his arms around their shoulders and leads them towards the car. If he had known Kagome was going to turn him down, he would have just taken the train.
"I can't believe how he kept falling down," Tsumiki remarks. "You were right, Gojo-san. That man was not the right guy for Kagome. He was so rude and then he was tripping over himself as if he had too much to drink."
"That was Gojo's doing."
"Megumi, you shouldn't tell lies. It's not right. I raised you better than that." Satoru unlocks the car and gets the door for Tsumiki.
"You literally expanded your infinity so he couldn't go after Higurashi-sensei, who was his date, by the way, not yours."
"Megumi, do you like flying?"
"What?"
"Flying? It's such a fun experience. Do you want to fly?"
"I like flying," Tsumiki chirps.
"Oh, I'll get you plane tickets. Megumi gets to fly without an airplane. More durable and all."
"… Are you threatening me?" Megumi glowers from the backseat.
"Depends. Are you going to nitpick every interaction I have with my future co-worker?" He taps his fingers on the wheel.
"At least do it at sunrise, so I can get a better view of the sky."
Satoru's mouth drops open. So that's how it is. No loyalty. He's definitely sending Megumi on a first-class ride to the clouds.
Cheeky brat.

Severus Snape x Half-Grim Reaper! Half-Immortal human! Reader (feat. Sesshomaru)
Sesshomaru meets up Y/n with again☪️
Warnings: Death, Swords, attempted murder, mentions of murder, and cheating.
The Half-Grim Reaper girl then approaches her friend; she knew during time in the Feudal Era 25 years ago. Typically Inuyasha’s case a century.
“Inuyasha....” The Half-Grim Reaper girl calls out. Inuyasha and the gang turn around to see a girl that seems to wear clothing from Kagome’s era. The Half-Demon who's currently a human widens his eyes when he saw her. “Y/n?” he asks in disbelief.
Y/n smiles at him. “Who is else would it be, old friend?” she asks her old friend.
“Y/n!” Inuyasha hugs his old friend tightly “It’s been so long!” The black-haired guy says, happily.
“Too long.... I'm sorry I have to leave without saying goodbye.” She then apologizes towards her friend as they both pull away. The rest of the gang (except Kagome) are confuse. “Umm.... Inuyasha, who is she?” Shippo asks.
Mainly the ones confused are Shippo, Miroku, Sango, and Kilala.
The currently human Half-Demon then turns to look at his friend. “Everyone this is Y/n L/n. She was the only friend I had when I was younger.” he then reveals to his friends. Kagome on the other hand already knew as she found out that the the Goth girl told her she was an old friend to Inuyasha.
Y/n then clears her throat. “It’s Y/n Snape now, my friend.” she corrects. Inuyasha looks at her, in surprise. “Did you get married?” he asks in disbelief. The Half-Grim Reaper girl then rubs the back of her neck nervously. “Yes, I did. Sorry.” she says.
“Since when did you get married?” The currently human then asks. “4 months ago....” Y/n reveals. The Goth girl then clears her throat. “By the way, I heard that you broke the Tessaiga.” she inform to her friend.
“Yeah..” Inuyasha said sadly “Don't worry I know that Totosai will fix it for you as long as he had your fang.” Y/n says before patting on Inuyasha's Shoulder “I hope so” The currently human Half-Demon says.
‘Who would thought Goshinki was the one to destroy it....’ The Half-Grim girl thought to herself. She was then snap out of her thoughts when her friend speak.
“By the way, Y/n, congratulations on your marriage with your husband.” Inuyasha says as he then congratulates her. The Goth girl then smiles at her friend. “Thank you, my friend.” she says.
“By the way, what happened with the meet up back at the village? You said you want to meet me there. What happened?” The currently human Half-Demon asks as Y/n narrows her eyes at the thought. “That’s because someone ruined my plans to meet up with you. My husband was with me at the time." She reveals. Inuyasha was trying to figure out who did it until one person came to mind. “Don’t tell me.... It was Sesshomaru, wasn't it?” he asks as he growls at the mention of his brother's name.
The Goth girl then kept her eyes narrowed as she nod. “Exactly, he spoke with me. However, Jaken made a fuss to the point where our conversation had gone out of where. When that Imp insulted me in front of my husband to the point I threatened that I will kill them and take their cinematic records.” she explains to her friend.
The rest of the gang look confuse about the cinematic record. “What’s the cinematic records?” Sango asks curiously. Y/n sighs. “It pretty much contains the person's memories. However, after the record reaches it's end the person that was about to die at the certain day and time. A Grim Reaper comes to collect the soul and of course cut the record from the body. Which is something I used to do day by day before I retired more than 2 centuries ago.” she explains.
Kagome could see where she's coming from. “So you retired from reaping souls in the 18th century?” she asks. The Half-Grim Reaper then nods her head in confirmation. “That’s correct, Kagome. I retired in the 18th century. In fact my father retired at the same time as well.” she then adds as she sighs on how her father got bored of his job to the point he destroyed the Grim Reaper’s HQ with his Death Scythe but it was later fixed up.
“You don't looked so old... Well, what I meant is your body doesn't suites with your age at all...” The Priestess says making Y/n sigh at that. “I know.... Many clueless humans point it out all the time...” The Half-Grim reaper points out and Inuyasha's friends stay silent in embarrassment.
“It’s fine. I've been used to it for a very long time.” The Goth girl then admits. She then turns to look at Inuyasha again. “I heard that after Tessaiga broke your Demon blood took over and you lost control.” She says, softly as she felt sympathetic towards her friend.
That made the currently human Half-Demon look down as he nods. Y/n’s face soften. “It’s not your fault, my friend. I now understood that the Tessaiga was also keeping your demon half at bay so you wouldn't go beserk and attack anyone out of control. I was worried that you would lose yourself....” she the explains and admits regarding to her friend's Demon transformation.
“That’s what we thought as well.....” Miroku says as Sango then stood next to him. “When Goshinki broke the Tessaiga it cause his Demon side to go beserk....” she then carefully points out. The Goth girl then gives a sad look “And Kagome was able to turn him back to normal by using the beads of Subjugation....” she finishes. The gang looks at her in shock. “How did you know?” Shippo asks as the Half-Grim Reaper then looks at him. “I’ve been watching from a distance but I decided not to intervene and of course let you all figure it out yourselves....” she then explains.
"So you've been watching us all along?” Inuyasha ask in disbelief “Yes I was...” The Goth Girl replies. “Then why didn't you just go out and help us?” The currently Half-Demon ask the Cold-Hearted Goth Girl “I just wanted to see if you can handle it yourself...” She replies making the group turn into silent state. “How could you do this? I thought you're my best friend” Inuyasha said In an upset tone “I'm sorry but you have to understand that I'm only doing that to make sure that you can handle yourself, and also to prevent the things that happens between you and the Great Priestess Kikyo” The goth Girl said in a cold tone.
The Half-Grim Reaper girl was disappointed when she found out an evil witch resurrected her friend’s first love. However, Kikyo no longer the way she was when she was alive. The only good thing was her body was made out of her ashes when she was still alive and of course clay. The Bizarre dolls she and her father resurrected by attaching a fake cinematic record to the real one to the point. The flesh is alive again but the corpses seek only one thing; they seek of the souls of the living. However, these experiments have their limits as they need large amounts of blood to move or else they'll stay dead. Back to Kikyo, the Goth girl never liked Inuyasha’s first love. The revive Priestess attempted to harm Kagome; Kikyo’s reincarnation from the modern era. She found out in secret and of course she will never hesitate to end her life so she could be at peace again, and not mention allow her friend to move forward. Of course, she’ll take her cinematic records.
“Do you know where is Kikyo right now?” Y/n ask Inuyasha “I-I don't know” The currently human Dog Demon replies making the Goth girl scoff in disbelief. “Don't worry I'll find her soon enough” She said as she turns on her back “What are you planning to do?” Inuyasha ask in a worried tone “Putting her back into her place” The Cold Hearted Goth Girl replied and then walk away to go to her husband who had been waiting for her.
“With her revive...... Well in the most forbidden way. You're unable to choose between your past and your future..... You didn't even realize it was starting to hurt you....” She then explains referring to the point her friend couldn't choose between the reincarnated Priestess and the revive Priestess.
Y/n then reach where her husband was. The gang then diverted their attention to where she was heading. It was a human man wearing black. There's also no doubt that he was also from Kagome’s era.
Severus wraps his arm around his wife's waist and then lead her to the deep forest. Once they were alone. The Half-Grim Reaper then raises her arm before she then cast the time travel she usually used to travel to the Feudal Era.
What they didn't know a certain Demon Lord was spying on both of them. He saw the Half-Grim Reaper as they head towards the forest. However, before he could speak with her she casted the spell she use all the time in travel back and forth to the Feudal Era. She then disappear alongside with her husband.
“Is there something the matter, Lord Sesshomaru?” Jaken asks before Sesshomaru then divert his attention away from the spot where Y/n originally stood. “Nothing important....” he says.
The Demon Lord then remembered on how he attempted to the Half-Grim Reaper that she was a mix of the living and the dead. In return he was wounded by her. Ever since then she never came near him again. Y/n often gives Sesshomaru a cold shoulder whenever they both run into one another.
Back in the Modern era with Y/n and Severus...
They were both back in Spinner's end. The former Potions Master then pours two cups of tea for himself and his wife. “Are you sure about going after Kikyo?” he asks his wife as he sips his tea.
The Half-Grim Reaper then she then blows on her tea gently before taking a sip. “No, but I will if she dare to harm Kagome. When she was revive after 50 years she then attacks Inuyasha to try to take him to hell with her and of course she paralyzed Kagome.” she then reveals.
“So she.... Was your friend’s first love?” The former Potions Master asks her as Y/n nods her head. “They met 50 years ago and of course at the time I wasn't around when she sealed Inuyasha against the Tree of Ages.” She then adds. “That was very harsh.. Well any reason for that?” He then asks.
The Half-Grim Reaper then sighs. “Inuyasha tried to steal the sacred jewel so he could become a Full Demon. Kikyo thought it was him who betrayed her but in reality Naraku was the one who attacked her which cause both of them to get seperate...” she then reveals to her husband.
"Indeed..." Severus says as he place his tea down and approach his wife "So what do you have in mind?" Her husband asks.
The Half-Grim Reaper then looks at her husband. “I will only confront Kikyo if we cross paths with her but I wouldn't attempt to kill her. But I only attack her not kill her even though I wanted to.” she says.
Severus sighs. “I was worried you would kill and take her cinematic records. Like how you did with your first love before me centuries ago out of anger.” he says carefully. Y/n then narrows her eyes at the mention of it. “It would stay that way, Sev....” she says.
2 weeks in the Feudal Era....
The gang return to Totosai to pick up the Tessaiga. They didn't know what's coming to them as 2 weeks ago. Sesshomaru have commissioned a swordsmith to forge him a sword. That Demon was Kaijinbo; he was the former apprentice of the swordsmith who forge the Tessaiga and the Tensaiga. He was banished by Totosai because of his methods on forging a sword. For example he used the lives of human children to forge a sword which was the reason why he was banished.
Y/n later comes around to join the gang. “Inuyasha....” she says calling out to her friend. The now human Half-Demon turn to see his friend as he then approaches her. As he then gives her a hug as Y/n return the hug.
Inuyasha pulls away and see Severus on her side. Another person was also with them. She wears clothes but it wasn't similar to Kagome’s uniform but she wears a coat and neck tie. She has brown hair and chocolate brown eyes.
The gang were confused. Who's she? “Ummm.... Y/n. Who's she?” Kagome asks the Half-Grim Reaper. The Goth girl then clears her throat before diverting her attention towards the other girl who was standing next to her husband. “Everyone this is the friend I knew growing up. Guys, this is Elena.” she says as the brown hair girl then made her way where Y/n was.
Elena then looks at the gang. “It’s nice to meet you all. I known Y/n since the 16th century.” she says. The reincarnated Priestess looks at her in shock. “So you both are around the same age?” she asks her. The brown-haired girl nod her head. “Yup, but unlike Y/n. I'm an immortal human.” she reveals.
They all divert their attention to Severus when speak. “Unlike the Magical humans. Immortal humans are capable of using hand to hand and physical combat besides magic. Magical humans are too reliant on magic. It is also necessary to use alternatives.” he then adds. The Gothic girl nod in confirmation as she then clears her throat. “Unlike Grim Reapers, the Magical humans and Immortal humans can still die from illnesses, physical, and magical causes.” she reveals.
Elena then looks at Inuyasha. As she then approaches the the currently human Dog Demon. “So you're Inuyasha? It's a pleasure to meet the person who known Y/n for over a decade.” she says in a cheerful tone. Inuyasha looks awkward right now. The immortal human in front of him refer him as person not the currently human Half-Demon. She seems to have common sense coming from the Modern era. “Ummmm... It's nice to meet you too, Elena.” he says rather awkwardly.
Elena then made her way back to where Y/n’s husband stood. She then snaps her fingers before they disappear. The Half-Grim Reaper then joins the gang as they then made their way to Totosai as he was fixing the Tessaiga.
However, bad things are going to happen for the night when they reach Totosai. They were then confronted by Kaijinbo. Turns out he was a former apprentice to the Swordsmith who forge Tessaiga and Tensaiga.
However, Kaijinbo was holding a sword but the Half-Grim Reaper then notice that he was possessed by the sword itself but it she sense the hatred of a familiar Demon. It was Goshinki possessing the ruthless swordsmith. He attempted to kill Inuyasha.
The gang then confronted him until later on, Inuyasha regain back his Demon powers. Totosai was able to fix Tessaiga on time.
The Half-Demon was able to defeat Kaijinbo. As the Tokijin went flying. The Half-Grim Reaper then made her way towards the sword. Inuyasha and the gang look at her in shock. “Y/n, be careful!!” The Half-Demon calls out. The Goth girl then took out one of her two swords but the one that conceal her Death scythe. She then watch as the sword change into the weapon she concealed.
She then hits the remains of the ruthless swordsmith by hitting the hand that was holding the sword. When she did the cinematic records came out from it.
She then starts to watch Kaijinbo’s memories. Y/n frowns as she looks disgusted when she saw that the ruthless swordsmith used the lives of innocent human children to make his swords. The Half-Grim Reaper knew it was understandable on why Totosai banished him a long time ago. However, her eyes widen when she saw his recent memories. “What in the world?!" She then exclaims.
“What is it, Y/n? What did you see?” the Half-Demon then asks his friend as the Half-Grim Reaper then still looks shock about what she found out. “The reason behind it was very shady...” she mutters. Y/n diverted attention towards her friend. “It’s not good, Inuyasha. You need to prepare what's coming.” she warns her friend.
Inuyasha looks confused but he could tell his friend was serious before he then nods. The Half-Grim Reaper then summons out a book before she uses the book to absorb Kaijinbo’s cinematic records.
She then frowns that when she saw that her former acquaintance and the friend she trusted before he attempted to kill her. Y/n couldn't believe that Sesshomaru ask the ruthless swordsmith to forge the sword to make a stronger sword than the Tessaiga.
Severus and Elena then came around right after the Goth girl took Kaijinbo’s cinematic records. She then puts the book away so she could give it to some Grim Reaper she knew as the three of them rejoin the gang and Totosai.
Y/n’s hunch was correct when Sesshomaru showed up. However, the Demon Lord then made an eye contact with her but the Half-Grim Reaper just glares at him full of hatred and disgust.
The gang along with the three were in a fighting stance. Totosai was hiding behind them as the Swordsmith was scared of the Great Dog Demon.
The Goth girl then narrows her eyes at her former acquaintance. “I must admit that it was a foolish decision when you ask Kaijinbo to forge the Tokijin, Sesshomaru. When Totosai refused to forge you a sword befitting for you. I find it understandable because your hungry for power.” she then says to the Demon Lord. Before Jaken can make a fuss the Demon Lord then glares at him as then jumps off of A-Un. He then divert his attention to Y/n. “I did not expect for you to figure out. But you are correct I was the one who commissioned Kaijinbo to forge my new sword.” he reveals.
“You know me very well, Y/n.” Sesshomaru then praise making the Half-Grim Reaper look at him in disgust. “My hunch was never wrong at all even though we known one another 2 decades ago in your case 2 centuries before you attempted to kill me.” she says in very cold tone. Elena then stood next to her friend. “He was lucky not to suffer the same fate as the guy you were originally in love with before you married Severus. When he took advantage of you to point you killed Julio out of anger.” she then points out.
The gang and the Demon Lord look at the Immortal human in shock. The former Potions Master sighs as he glares at Elena as his wife narrow his eyes at the name of her first love.
“Don’t mention his name, Elena.” Severus says to the close friend of his wife. The immortal human then realizes what she did seeing Y/n’s narrowed eyes. “Sorry, my bad.....” she says looking genuinely sorry.
Elena then diverted her attention towards the Demon Lord. “As I was saying you're lucky that you didn't meet the same fate as him.” she says to him. Which made Sesshomaru scoff as he smirk. “And which does this lead to, mortal?” he asks the immortal human. She then narrows her eyes at him. “I found out you attempted to kill Y/n. You're lucky you didn't meet the same fate as her first love as she killed him out of anger and took his cinematic records when he took advantage of her centuries ago during her retirement as a Grim Reaper.” She says to the Demon Lord as she then gave him a playful smirk. “I hope you suffered from the wound inflicted by her Death scythe. Usually when Demons are hit by it. It negates all their regeneration abilities which cause the healing process to take about 3 weeks.” she informs as Sesshomaru then glares at her.
The Half-Grim Reaper then sighs. “Enough, it wouldn't be wise to provoke him.” She warns her friend as Elena stops what she was doing. Y/n narrows her eyes as she diverted her attention towards the Demon Lord. “As for you, Sesshomaru. I'm not going to stand around seeing you and Inuyasha fight like little children.” she says. The Half-Grim Reaper then raises her hand as her husband and her friend stood next to her as red energy surrounds her. She then narrows her eyes at Sesshomaru before she then divert her attention towards Inuyasha. The Half-Demon has a worried look on his face as he made an eye contact with her. Y/n gives her friend a reassuring smile for a second. She then casts the spell she usually used to travel between the past and the present. A magical circle then surrounds the three of them before they disappear. The Goth girl just glares at the Demon Lord before they disappear to the Modern Era.
(A/n: Poor Sesshomaru, Y/n is still giving him a cold shoulder couldn't blame her when he attempted to kill her.)

well, looks like I put off writing for a whole 'nother month. And that means ITD has been on a temporary hiatus for SIX MONTHS. I feel a little bad. I suppose I can point to the fact that I didn't leave it on a cliffhanger ... ?
I have been heavily invested in reading BNHA fanfics (I've literally read so many that I can't find good ones anymore, and the rest would be hidden gems that don't rank highly enough to catch my attention yet), but the good news is that even the tiny thoughts about 'hm, maybe I could write one' have pretty much ended there, because there's enough (not enough I WANT MORE) brilliant stuff out there to read already, and any time I think about writing anything my brain cycles back around to finishing up this fic (despite having so few readers) because it's my word-baby.
I've also put serious consideration into redoing the first story with Shippo as a third-person POV (and streamlining the plot), but then I realized I'd need to re-write like the first 50k or so of the blue anshan as third-person, too, and that seems like a terrible slog, but then again, I did have a lot of story threads I had meant to expand differently when I'd originally started writing it, and the whole thing could use a major overhaul, but ... Maybe I'd name the new version "The Things We Want" and like make it a multi-story posting of the rewritten adventures jfc wait nvm that's a lot of writing
okay I've rambled long enough. esp about a fandom / crossover that doesn't hand back very much feedback to feed my need for validation.
Actual Story Updates: there are none. but here's another teaser from ch63 to tide (all three of) you over, as thanks for checking in that I'm still alive.
He briefly looked her over from head to toe, searching for trace of major injury or blood, and once he’d ensured she was still in one piece he scooped her into his arms for a fierce hug, burying his nose in her hair as he curled himself around her. “Holy fuck Kagome, why— where the hell—” he cut himself off with a shudder and a hacking cough, his nose wrinkling in disgust as he pulled away from her to peer more closely at her appearance. “Whoa,” he exclaimed at the completely unexpected riot of odors clinging to her dingy, dated clothing, and she peeked up at him with a sheepish half-smirk through a gap in her bangs. He coughed again and sneezed once with a brief shake of his head. “Look, I know I said I’d still like your scent even if you’d been rolling around in the woods for a week, but you smell like…” he trailed off, swallowing back a strong wave of nausea. “Like I’ve been traipsing around in a dungeon?” she offered with a deadpan expression as she tugged at the sodden edge of her sleeve with a long sigh. “Or maybe drenched in slime guts and bloody dragon bile?” His mouth fell open in brief surprise before he exhaled a chuckle and pulled her close again. “It’ll wash,” he muttered, savoring the feel of her back in his arms.

Hi, sorry for the late-ish response! You brought up some stuff I hadn't thought about so I wanted to make sure I was in the right mindset to discuss them well! I never really thought about how Kagome would be stuck fighting Naraku herself when the future inevitably changed if Inuyasha and the others died there. Good catch! That's a really interesting scenario to think of. It's especially sad since Kagome gets a lot of her strength from her bond with Inuyasha, and she just... wouldn't have that. As for translation issues with VIZ, well... it wouldn't be the first time they've watered something down or omitted it. Unfortunately I can't say why. I'd hope it's just an innocent oopsie but considering this is a reprint and I noticed they changed/fixed some other stuff, it's a bit more sus. The fan translations have their fair share of issues too but I'm inclined to believe them here since the line was also in the anime and it just... makes sense, contextually, for her to want him to live and mention it. Another good catch! I've literally never understood the take that Kagome somehow forced Inuyasha to live and be with her instead of Kikyou. She can't stop him, and she has no leverage over him similar to Kikyou's guilt and grief. To say so is really taking Inuyasha's agency out of the equation which is a very questionable shipping choice for either side to take. If Inuyasha wanted to be with Kikyou romantically... well, he would. But he never says anything of the sort, it's always helping her rest in peace. And on the contrary, INUYASHA asked KAGOME to stay by his side, earlier in the series, because he implied he was ready to move on and this arc was a regression. (Admittedly removed from the anime, tho, and another watered down translation by VIZ that's been fixed here.)
Kagome haters are a strange breed, sometimes. Kagome (in the manga) does nothing Inuyasha himself hasn't asked for. I'm not going to rant about my problems with Kikyou's treatment of Inuyasha because I do that enough outside of friendly debates LOL, but I believe Kikyou herself refers to it as "killing" Inuyasha more than once. I could be misremembering, but I don't blame anyone for sanitizing it because Inuyasha tends to refer to it as more of a Romeo and Juliet selfless sacrifice scenario. I think he has some delusions about that, but honestly who can blame him with the trauma backing it? I think that's also where the InuKik shippers get their romanticized take on it, even if you look at it objectively it's anything but. YES, Kikyou's touch is very noteworthy to me, too. Inuyasha will sometimes break down and hug her but until the fit of emotion takes him, he tends to act very on edge and uncomfortable when she's close to him. This could partially be because it's such a 180 from the Kikyou who sat well away from him to make distant conversation when she was alive, but it's extremely notable when compared with how he and Kagome have 0 personal space and she always seems to be casually holding his arm or touching shoulders. He even pulled away when Kikyou kissed him in the manga. I think part of it was surprise but part of it I also interpreted as a kind of uncomfortable flinch. (She DID kiss him without consent too, so doubly so.)
She does get more "distant" again when she turns her attentions to killing Naraku fully. They're usually back to standing 10ft away making distant conversation about Naraku and any romantic interest seems pretty sapped away until arguably their goodbye. (I don't think it was romantic but it was still way more intimate than their previous interactions at least.) That might be the first time she'd touched him in a long time, and it was mostly Inuyasha initiating it that time in his need to (FINALLY) grieve.
Popping by seeking your thoughts about Chapter 176: Kagome’s Heart, this specifically:
As we know, it’s a major turning point in the story. Kagome asks to stay by Inuyasha’s side, rather than leave him, the feudal era, and the jewel shard mission behind.
Now this is pure speculation, but I like to speculate. What if Kagome had left? Certainly, that’s an entirely different story, but I’m curious what you think may have happened in this scenario.
Some particular questions I have are:
Would Inuyasha have teamed up with Kikyo to try to collect shards and defeat Naraku?
Kagome was the glue that brought the Inugang together. In her absence at /this/ point of the story (the 3 year separation is different), would they have parted? As in, would Miroku, Sango, and Shippo parted ways with Inuyasha if he teamed up with Kikyo (I don’t see her being a fan of traveling with the inugang)? If so, do they fight Naraku in their smaller group, do they survive, etc.
Would Naraku/ the jewel still have been defeated?
Even *if* InuKik defeated Naraku/ the jewel (I don’t think they would have), how does the story end? Kikyo isn’t alive so she.. dies? Achieves nirvana and Inuyasha just.. grieves the rest of his life or joins her in death? I don’t see a happy ending ☹️
Just seeking civil discussion as always not trying to light any fires xD
Oh man, this is a sad one, let me strap in with a depressing yearning/pining playlist. First off, I think this arc shows a LOT of things about both Inuyasha and Kagome's character, good and bad. Mostly good, but perhaps in bad context. Or at least very sad context. I mean we got Inuyasha going from this:
... to this:
(I know this isn't the same arc but bear with me, the character development is there and he has a similar change of heart here, for her emotional wellbeing, not just physical.) The important thing to note is Kikyou wanted to die at this point, and still to take Inuyasha with her.
And Inuyasha's response was this:
So even if it's born out of extreme guilt and trauma, I find it unlikely they would have fought Naraku at all. Kikyou talks a big game, but first chance she gets she is always trying to call Inuyasha to her side strictly to die, never for his help. (At this point.) Inuyasha more than likely would have been coerced to Hell even against his better judgement. Shippou was willing to leave the group once already without Kagome (after the Sess fight, he only came back cuz of the wolves chasing him) and Miroku is used to being a loner vagabond. Who knows what would happen to Shippou but Miroku and Sango would have likely drifted apart, encountered Naraku, and perished, even if they were together tbh. (Let's face it, Sango's pretty helpless against the Kohaku card.) Even Kagome would have been miserable having her tie to Inuyasha go unfulfilled and always regretting not knowing if everyone was still alive and safe or if she left them to their doom. So with that being said, as much as I love this scene as a pure example of her devotion to Inuyasha, there realistically WAS some pressure on her decision. I think she fully knew Kikyou intended to kill Inuyasha and that he couldn't say no because of his vulnerabilities and perceived superior love for her. (That hurts me to say but it's Kagome's POV.) That's why she had the lines about wanting him to feel like he's allowed to be happy and she wants that for him. She feels that normally, yes, but even moreso in the wake of knowing he'll likely forfeit his life. (I think the anime even emphasized this by adding her saying "You have to know that I want you to live." SOMEONE had to show him they care enough or he'd be too far gone.) The beautiful part is that Kagome DID full-on save Inuyasha's life by making her choice. Because she's unsure if she'll be able to help him enough to keep him around forever, but he's shown an uncanny desire to LIVE for her. Which obviously he continues to show again and again, and is my favorite part of their relationship. An outcast so abused and conditioned to it that the first person to care about him tells him to die and he absolutely will. But that outcast learns he wants to live way more, through interacting with unconditional love. I've said it before but Kikyou to me was always a metaphor for Inuyasha's grief and succumbing to the pain, whereas Kagome was always symbolic for a desire to live and be happy again.

So because I was bored, a few weeks ago I downloaded some rhythm games for the DS, those being Utacchi and the two Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! and
- I haven’t found any fanart for Kagome, Hayato or Ice and that makes me a sad Alma looks like I must pay my children justice once again
- I have played Zenryoku Shonen too much
- IT’S BOTH ON UTACCHI AND OSU2, I LOVE THAT SONG SO MUCH
- My brother is so fed up with that song
- My mom, who never remembers anything, recognized the song, apparently
- HANADA TSUYOSHI IS MY SON
- Why didn’t I download those games earlier, I love them
- Playing Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! reminded me how bad I’m at OSU
- I had to play the last stage of the first Osu! a lot and the only time I managed to more or less get somewhere my console froze and I had to start again. But I managed to beat it and I felt so proud, sob
- When I downloaded Utacchi, I was going through the songs and when I found out that A Cruel Angel’s thesis was included I bursted out laughing because I DEFINITELY did not expect it there
- My big brother, who is really into Dragon Ball sang Cha La Head Cha La when I played it and since he sang the dubbed version I was both like ‘awww, that is cute’ and ‘jnJBJEHBFJEHFBJE F THE RHYTHM’
- My first thought when I saw Hayato: Minamisawa riding a skateboard
- which is ironic considering i adore hayato but minamisawa is,,, a different story
-.Now that I think of it... Both Utacchi and Rhythm Heaven have frogs... Is this a conspiracy?
- I want the Ouendan to be an actual thing, holy
- The meteorite thing reminded me of a Wii game named Job Island which apparently only I know, or at least it was like that in 2014
- Probably the same after 4 years I bet
- i am so so so weak for rhythm games
#alma's nonsense#i'm listening to zenryoku shonen as i'm writing this#i have a problem#bUT THAT SONG IS SO GOOD FJNEFBEJHGE#i'm not sure if his name is hanada tsuyoshi also#the guy from the first stage of both osu1 and osu2#ice is my baby because he's blue and he's a blonde with brown eyes#and he's cute#hayato because i like his songs#and kagome because she's pretty and i want to hug her#i also like rie-chan#but i saw fanart of her so

When do you think Inuyasha caught feelings? I constantly reread the very beginning and try to find out! I know that it’s common for the character to not be consciously aware of their feelings (especially in Rumiko’s work) buuuuut we had that scene with Kagome realizing her feelings for Inuyasha at the tree! So I always wondered how Inuyasha would react if he had a clear AHA moment like Kagome. Or like the exact panel when he crossed the line from friend to ///blush////. I switch back and forth between thinking inukag was platonic for just a tiny microsecond or Inuyasha was always in denial about liking Kagome. Who by the way? Is pretty flirty with him from the get go?
I think the Yura of the Hair arc was the turning point in their strained relationship. They became friends and Inuyasha gained respect for her. Then by the time we get to Sesshomaru’s plot with the Unmother, we are potentially in crush territory because of the Tessaiga! And maybe Kagome’s turning point was the Noa Mask arc. He was trying to look cool for her by then- WHICH IS SO FAST!! Idk how he kept it together in the Fateful Night in Togenkyo arc! Kagome kept hitting him directly in his weak spot. Seeing her naked? Wearing his haori, and that line about not being disgusted with his blood because it’s his? Like Jesus Christ Kagome!! Give the poor guy a second to breathe 😂 The way she accidentally swooped him off his feet will forever be funny to me.
Idk just wanted to ask for your thoughts. Even though you probably get asks like these all the time 🥲
I completely agree about the Yura of the hair arc! Kagome went from being "this annoying girl who looks like the woman who killed me" to "oh this girl is actually pretty brave and resourceful actually".
It's also coincidentally when he called her by her name for the first time, and Kagome really hated being called "woman" or just "you" so to use her name showed that he respects her (side note, it's also why I dislike when he calls her "wench" in post-canon fanfics). The Tessaiga plotline is also a good one, he again saw how courageous she is when she followed him without any hesitation and stood up for him in front of Sesshomaru!
Another important one is the spider head arc, where he realized how kind and caring Kagome is, which I've talked about more in details here.
But the moment when he crossed the line from friend to ///blush//// as you so well described, imo is at the end of the arc where Kikyo gets resurrected:
This scene is also why I think it's sooo funny when people say he sees her as Kikyo's replacement because... he literally doesn't lol. At the beginning of this arc he says Kikyo's sad face made him feel "like he did something wrong" while here, Kagome's happy smile makes him feel "relieved". He starts crushing on Kagome based on qualities she has (the ability to cheer him up and her playful nature) that are different from Kikyo...
So this was the start of him crushing on her, but the real turning point and when he really realized his feelings for her is the other Sesshomaru arc, where she got put in danger and he realized how much it would hurt him to see anything happen to her....
That is not a hug between besties 😭 It's also after Kagome came back to him and hugged him back that he said "I thought it would be better if you were far away, but it's when I saw your face that for some reason my strength returned. That's when I realized... I want you by my side Kagome." to me that is 100% when Inuyasha realized he was developing romantic feelings for Kagome!
I think it's interesting that you say Kagome flirted with him early on, because I don't really remember that? Except that one line above where she teased him for "looking at her with desire in his eyes"? I think she started flirting with him after this whole "I want you by my side Kagome", like when they had to watch over a dead woman together and she snuggled up to him.
Also yes, Kagome very first sign of crushing on Inuyasha was when he saved her and Sota during the Noh mask arc!
But Kagome was in denial for a looong time 😭 She knew they weren't "just friends" (not that platonic relationships are lesser, just that there was clearly also romantic tension between them) but it really wasn't until chap 175 / episode 48 that she realized she really was in love with him!
Also everything you said about the Togenkyo arc is SPOT on, I still don’t know how Inuyasha survived that LMAO
#ask#Anon#don't worry about sending me an ask about that!!#it's always fun to talk about early-manga inukag#they were so dumb i love them

You have plenty of salt despite how much you genuinely like Yashahime so... how about this: got any salt regarding Rin in particular?
OK AS A SESSRIN SHIPPER THIS IS A REALLY FUN ONE HOLD ON THIS HAS BEEN BUGGING ME FOR FUCKING AGES NOW
this is JUST my take feel free to disagree but i feel like there's lowkey
two Rins in this same show, that we see in S2. these are almost two separate characters but both are married to Sesshomaru, both were in the tree, and both are the parents of the twins
and like. i REALLY like one of these Rins
(sorry about this horrible awful quality i'm on my work computer and don't wanna go take screenshots properly so i'm just using really old shitty phone pics i took a long time ago)
LIKE. I REALLY LIKE THIS RIN. i like the Rin that literally held a fucking decomposing virus sword to her neck and outright told her husband "if it'll keep our kids safe then don't hesitate to cut off my head" or when KNOWING she couldn't do SHIT against Kirinmaru like... literally at MOST buying her kids like, three more seconds to live (and i might be REALLY generous with three seconds, just because i like Rin) knowing that Kirinmaru would just instantly slaughter her but still be willing to do that because she's a mom and that's her precious family she loves with all her heart
and then we get to shit like, "i can't hug you yet even though running up to you and hugging you before you could even Not Hug Me Back would've been what was most ic for me," stupid-ass bullshit, generally being extremely passive (which makes sense in some capacity considering she can't fight) and just kind of once again feeling like a character who only really follows around what Sesshomaru does and says
(i know that scene in the last episode is. VERY infamous and kind of well-deserved but like while i do agree that it was NOT the right art and voice acting direction i UNDERSTAND what it was TRYING to accomplish which i think is kind of in-line with the Rin i really like so i'm not as harsh on it as others even though it was given incredibly poor direction in how to be executed which is creating discourse about it To This Day)
like, i KNOW this was a filler episode, but remember that one episode where Jaken was poisoned and Rin, this little kid, completely on her own basically went into demon territory and risked her life just to get the herbs that would save Jaken? (correct me if i'm wrong about this one i THINK this is how it went it's been like over a year since i saw the movie) the kid that in third movie wanted to try to bodyblock Setsuna no Takemaru from being able to reach Kagome because even though Kagome was stronger than her, she wanted to protect someone she cared about?
i feel like ONE of the Rins in HNY is absolutely that little girl grown up and now a mother and still having that fire in her she's had her entire life and the other is. really just kind of there to follow Sesshomaru around. i really love one of these Rins a lot and the other Rin i'm. kinda apathetic about. i know there's only realistically so much she COULD have done being the one normal person among all these fighters with powers but STILL i feel like we only got to see that Rin in like, glimpses, which is a shame bc i REALLY like that Rin that has the biggest balls of pretty much everyone in this entire franchise
and that is my Rin salt ty for coming to my ted talk i need to make rp icons of Rin at some point that's unrelated to anything but i should go icon Rin one day
#if anyone actually wants to hear my take on that scene in the last ep with rin lmk#i might wait until i'm home to get proper screenshots though#yashahime#hanyou no yashahime#yashahime: princess half-demon#inuyasha#sengoku otogizoshi inuyasha#sessrin#sesshomaru#rin (inuyasha)#discourse cw

Okay, so I’ve been saying for a while that I’m working on an Inuyasha modern MMA AU. I’m now about 30k words into it and just need some motivation. I’ve been writing pretty steadily, but I find myself being weirdly protective over this story. I’ve only shared it with one friend and a few people on the 30+ fanfic discord server and each time I was severely anxious over it.
So, I’m going to try some exposure therapy. Just going to force myself to post a few WIP snippets every now and then, my anxiety be damned. I am the master of my mind (she said, voice shaking). Anyway...that’s enough of me and my hangups. If you enjoy this or are waiting for me to get my butt in gear on this fic I’ve been promising, and you want a tag when I post, just drop me a message.
This snippet is from near the beginning. Basically, in this story, Kagome and Inuyasha grew up together during their formative years. Their mothers were best friends, they were best friends (as usual). This is a small bit of that life.
I Find It Hard to Say the Things I Want to Say the Most
Light and shadow flickered behind Inuyasha’s eyelids as the dappled afternoon sunlight filtered through the trees. He took deep breath, rich with the scent of cypress, warm earth, and the distant ocean brine. Small, clawed hands sifted through the thick grass beneath him, pulling the cool blades between the pads of his fingers. He dug his bare toes into the soil, curling them around the soft granules as though giving the whole forest a hug.
Tinkling sounds of laughter filtered to him on the breeze from a short distance away. The soft white puppy ears on top of his head twitched and his eyelids fluttered open, revealing curious golden eyes. Inuyasha sat up and shook his waterfall of silver hair tangled with errant leaves, small twigs, and the occasional insect. He yawned, stretching the weight of his nap from his limbs.
The girlish laughter sounded again, and he smiled before jumping to his feet. Kagome was home from her first day of school. He climbed into the nearest tree and jumped from limb to limb, searching out the familiar voices of his mother and best friend. He found them mid-way down the path between his family home at the back of the forest and the Higurashi shrine where his best friend lived.
“Inuyasha,” his mother called, her voice soft and lilting.
The young girl at her side glanced up with a look of concern when nothing answered them.
Mama brushed her fingers through Kagome’s bangs. “Not to worry, dear. He’s around here somewhere. Inuyasha was so eager for you to get home; I can’t imagine he would wander far.” She clutched the shawl tighter around her shoulders, the dark material blending into her slick of long black hair. “Help me look?”
Kagome nodded and took a decisive step forward, cupping her hands around her mouth. “Inuyasha!”
He watched them from the boughs of the trees with a mischievous grin curling his lips as she cried out his name a second time. Inuyasha aligned himself just right on the branch before dropping to the ground right in front of his friend with as fierce a growl as the five-year-old hanyou could muster.
Kagome squealed and fell backwards into the dirt with a soft ‘oof’.
He melted into a fit of laughter. “You should’ve seen your face! I got you good, ‘Gome.” Inuyasha turned toward his mother who was trying to hide a smile behind her hand. “Did you see, Mama? Did you see how scared she was?”
“Now, Inuyasha,” she chastised. “Stop teasing.”
Kagome sat up, face turning red with embarrassment. “I was not scared.”
“Were so.” He said with a laugh. “You even squealed like a girl.”
She got to her feet and brushed off her school uniform. “That’s because I am a girl, dummy.”
“Yeah, but now you sound like one, too,” he said, pulling on the bow in her black hair.
“Ow!” She turned towards his mother. “Mama Taisho, he pulled my hair!”
“Nuh-uh, I was just looking at her bow,” Inuyasha explained, coming to her side.
“Please get along you two,” his mother replied with an exasperated sigh. “You were apart all day. Surely you must have missed each other.”
Kagome looked down at her toes and nodded. “Yeah, school got kinda lonely sometimes.”
“Why?” Inuyasha asked, turning toward his friend. “Were the other kids mean to you?”
She shook her head. “No, I even made a new friend.”
He scowled. “What new friend?”
“Ayumi,” Kagome said with an excited smile. “She’s really nice but she sits way in the front of the class by the teacher’s desk. She likes dolls and flowers and ponies and—”
“I like that stuff,” he interjected.
Her small brow furrowed. “You do? I thought you said it was girly.”
Inuyasha shrugged and wiped his nose with the back of his hand. “Yeah, but girly isn’t that bad, I guess.”
He felt the soft weight of his mother’s palm settle on his head, stroking it gently. “Kagome, tell us what you learned in school today.”
“Oh, we learned letters and numbers. We sang a song about sharks and played games,” she chattered away in a bright tone. “Ayumi and I made a really big tower of blocks before one of the boys came and knocked it down.”
“Who?” he asked.
“Oh, he was just a bully.” She waved the question away. “What about you, Inu?”
His ears drooped. Kagome’s day sounded so exciting. He didn’t have much to say in comparison. It had been a day like any other except, his best friend was gone. Inuyasha glanced up at his mother.
She smiled and tweaked one of his ears. “Aren’t you going to answer?
“Well,” he began, twisting the hem of his red shorts around his thumb. “We practiced letters and numbers, too. Mama showed me the g-globe and told me about countries. Ummm…”
“We also did an art project didn’t we?” His mother prompted.
Kagome bounced on her toes. “Us too. We used watercolors and Ayumi did such a beautiful painting. She’s like a real artist.”
“Inuyasha made you a very pretty painting, as well.” His mother gave him an encouraging nudge forward.
“You did?”
Inuyasha shoved his hands in his pockets and looked down at his dirty bare feet, thinking of the messy, but colorful, butterfly he made from the imprint of his hands. “Um…yeah, sorta. It’s still drying. I used a lot of paint.”
Kagome grinned and skipped forward, grabbing his arm. “Oooh, show me! I wanna see.”
He stumbled when she yanked him in the direction of his home. “’Gome be careful. You’re gonna fall.”
“Don’t worry,” she said, turning to offer him a smile so bright it blinded him. “I know you’ll catch me.”
