Sighs. Thinking about Truthless Recluse and the idea of him feeling absolutely terrified of Shadow Milk deep down.

Pure Vanilla is still in there somewhere— it’s part of the trick, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t feel anything as Truthless Recluse. For as apathetic as he may be, for as quiet and averse as he is, it’s all a mask. Would it not be terrifying to be right at the mercy of someone who has been tormenting you since you stepped into his realm?

It’s not that Shadow Milk knew Pure Vanilla as a child— he didn’t. But Pure Vanilla doesn’t *know that* in this moment. He doesn’t need to know the truth for the metaphor to get through, though: to be this close to Shadow Milk, left at his whims, feels like being a child cowering from a monster in the night again. It feels like having all his fight taken away, only left to sit and endure the terror.

And it isn’t like there’s anywhere he can go. As Truthless Recluse lays in a bed that feels familiar, but not his own, a mirage created by his tormentor, he cannot rest. To give in to his emotions, his fear, and to cry would mean to alert Shadow Milk. His eyes are everywhere, after all. He can’t hide— not even when he’s alone.

So he must keep it all under wraps if it means to survive. What else do you do when the boogeyman comes knocking?

As gen-AI becomes more normalized (Chappell Roan encouraging it, grifters on the rise, young artists using it), I wanna express how I will never turn to it because it fundamentally bores me to my core. There is no reason for me to want to use gen-AI because I will never want to give up my autonomy in creating art. I never want to become reliant on an inhuman object for expression, least of all if that object is created and controlled by tech companies. I draw not because I want a drawing but because I love the process of drawing. So even in a future where everyone’s accepted it, I’m never gonna sway on this.

every time i see one of those cutesy videos of some US Army boot boy surprising their kid(s)/parent(s) by dramatically sneaking up behind them in full uniform during a party and then they hug and cry or whatever the literal only thing i can think about is how they signed up to murder people. people who will never get to surprise their loved ones ever again. future history textbooks are going to use these videos as their most blatant example of propaganda. in a better world those videos would end with the crowd spitting on the soldier and/or beating them to death while asking them why they thought they could ever show their face again after what they signed up for

after literal years i finally got around to downloading a pdf of the wipers times, an unsancitioned satitical british trench magazine circulated among the troops in france from 1916-1918 after the fortuitous discovery of a printing press. i have approximately five million other things i need to read so idk when i'll be able to devote much time to it, and i gotta pick up a proper copy bc it's missing at least salient no 4 vol 2. that said? i'm genuinely laughing at what i've skimmed so far

The thing that is striking me the most about this album is just how messy and human it is. She’s not holding anything back or trying to appear one way or another. She’s just letting it all out regardless of what anyone might say. She found that trying to be polished and keep all the ugly, imperfect, human stuff in to be stifling and just said fuck it I need to do this for me. This album was an exorcism for her.
