Rich Guy Villains in Batman
My brother once observed that Batman has few "rich guy villains". By this he means fantastic villains who operate in high society, most of their wealth is made legally, are a part of Bruce's social sphere, but also make Gotham a worse place and may commit super crime. Lex Luthor would be an example of this type. Most Batman villains are criminals, and the rich ones are often mobsters whose wealth is not legal and rarely hang out in Bruce's social circle. A common theme in Batman media is that the rich are partly at fault for Gotham's state, but by lacking these villains it can be written off as criminals ruining the city, alleviating the wealthy of some responsibility. At worst the Gotham elite tend to look callous and decadent, but not evil or hurting the city. Court of Owls is the major exception I can think of but they are fairly new and have few major personalities. For fun we like to come up with "rich guy villains" and I felt like doing fanart of some in the future. They are mostly animal themed and are meant to reflect aspects of Bruce/Batman's personality or themes.
Tybalt Rexton "T. Rex": "Evil industrialist Bruce Wayne incapable of letting go of the past" Described by Brontes in this post, he is from the oldest of the old money families in Gotham, and once were considered equals to the Wayne family. However, while still wealthy, his industries have fallen on hard times. He holds onto past glory and resents the new money families whose influence now exceed his.
Corso Family: "Evil Bat Family" Brontes described them in this post. A corrupt family, the patriarch has placed his children throughout Gotham's institutions to spread their influence and cover for any scandals that may occur. At least one member of the family operates as "The Hound", a criminal and rival to Batman.
Magdalene Bird "Magpie": "Evil Batcave" A Brontes reimagining of Magpie, she is a collector who has a hidden vault called "The Nest" where she keeps the secrets of Gotham's high society. She is from one of the old families of Gotham, but is also a blackmailer of Gotham's elite. She is also a collector of magical and technological artifacts which she might use for crime or auction.
Angela Sabbato "Seabat": "Evil charitable aspect Bruce" One of my characters, like the Waynes she had her life shattered by a mugging. She was spared, but her son died and husband was left in a coma. She founded charities to help rehabilitate criminals but in truth her rehab is designed to blackmail them to become a part of her "Tank" and they must work for her as a roundabout punishment.
Drew Mouldwart "Mole": "Evil paranoid/loner aspect of Bruce" One of mine, Drew comes from old money but was betrayed and inherited little. He took his pittance and founded a security firm, but in secret made money through corporate espionage. His first target was his family who he ruined. Highly paranoid, he continues his espionage on other Gotham institutions, and even spies on his own employees.
Dwight Oliphant "White Elephant": One of mine, he reflects how Bruce has people he trusts and contribute to his success, like Alfred and Lucius Fox. Dwight inherited his company from his father, but has bad impulses and a toxic personality. Most of his success comes from his underlings. However, power is going to his head and his coterie are wasting massive resources saving the company from his decisions. Most stories involving him follow his inner circle who do the hard work, but Dwight will often betray them for petty reasons.

Finally reached the Fingolfinians! Did I do the alternating skin colors on purpose?? yes because patterns please me no
thoughty thoughts
- i did fingolfin before didn’t i??? my memory is bad
- anaire!!! her hair is inspired by merida’s mom from brave and i feel like they might have similar vibes in general... i drew her in fancy clothes for some reason?? really most of them are in fancy clothes but her specifically is fancy. there should be like three different fabrics in just the tiny bit i drew. idk what their names are (rip my fashion knowledge) but they’re there!
- fingon!!! fingon is my absolute favorite character to draw because 1. he’s my second favorite character in the silmarillion 2. i feel compelled to make my favorite character very Pretty and while i still feel the need to do that it doesn’t trigger crippling anxiety in me. anyway out of everyone here he’s closest to how i actually imagine he looks like. like all of these except argon are pretty close to how i imagine them but fingon specifically. am i the only one who feels like he very often has a smile just three degrees shy of being a challenging smirk?
-  turgon is actually based on a rejected design for caranthir lmao. i gave him this cool hat thing based on a crown before i decided i would only give the ‘high princes(s)’ crowns for some arbitrary reason... anyway when i actually linearted the thing it looked kinda terrible so i scraped it and his circlet is all that remains
- i gave aredhel robin hood’s hat because no one is here to stop my impulses. i made the feather red for some bizarre reason... not sure how much i like it now... her outfit was 100% inspired by this fanart from azaisya... .tis a great hunting outfit me feels... also it fits the robin hood vibe lmao
(am i saying aredhel steals from the rich to give to the poor? no cuz she’s royalty she is the rich. also, it’s valinor. depending on your headcanon no one is poor)
- argon i have no idea what happened and im still baffled by his design. clearly he’s at some party...??? i have no mental image for him so i googled his name and squinted at designs until i came up with something and in hindsight maybe i should just go back to my pinterest board full of byzantine clothing. anyway he has braids ala fingon, a feather ala aredhel, and... ....... turgon’s.... internal attitude?
....
yeah
- anyway!!! nearly done with the valinor crowd! i only have to draw spouces and gen 3 kids (gen 0 being finwe and co) and i will finally move onto the beleriand group... yay!

9月2日ーマジカルミライ
Back in May I booked bus tickets and passes for Hatsune Miku: Magical Mirai 2019. I suppose it will serve as a good distraction. Oddly enough, a part of me didn’t really WANT to go. I meant to get just one ticket, but the lottery system had messed up English and as a result I had to pay for a two day pass. The only reason I decided to go was to indulge in my 19/20 year old self in going to a Vocaloid concert. In the past 5 years, I’ve not been a huge fan, but knew that at the very least I could still have a little fun, right?
Now...I have plans of going every year. It was beyond entertaining from start to finish and the exhibit floor was a lot like anime cons back home...only it was all Vocaloid. What’s more, the event actually had English support (and Chinese). Industry guests were there, including a few big name vocaloid music producers doing autographs. Any clothing, accessory, music tech, or figurine company that had partnership with Crypton and Hatsune Miku was there with their merchandise. Starting out producers had a fan-works marketplace selling their own CDs and fanart. Early demo play of the new Project DIVA and Miku VR was available! There were also changing rooms for cosplayers, and a storage space for those traveling will luggage to put away. So I’ll be sure to cosplay next year, for sure, too! I’ve  been wanting to be KAITO for years, so this seems like the perfect place to do it.
Tho, I think the nicest aspect of it was just how friendly all the attendees were. There were people from all over the world. Japan. China. Korea. Philippines. America. Europe. Yet, no matter the language barrier, everyone was having fun singing their favorite songs in impulsive karaoke, dancing, taking photos together, and so on. Even the most hardcore fans were good people. They didn’t try to one-up anyone or assert authority of any kind. If anyone was seen alone, they were just collected into groups with other fans. If someone didn’t have a glow wand during the concerts then fans would share (the most excited fans had anywhere from 3-5 wands of their own. They had plenty to loan to friends). I ended up meeting a few people from America and other foreigners in the country who go every year but sadly they all lived in different corners. We’ll keep in touch on LINE, I’m sure.
I just cried during the first song. I didn’t even know what song it was (or half of the songs of the whole show), but I didn’t care. I think it was mainly just the energy of the moment and how entertaining it was. Even a few old favorites were played in memory of the late wowaka, who passed away this April. A different song of his was played at every show, the two I got to see was World’s End Dancehall (my favorite) and Rolling Girl (his first big hit). Those were really emotional numbers even if they were very high energy. Megurine Luka was also celebrating her 10th anniversary so she got an extended set, and her own corner at the exhibit hall. One guy I ended up sitting next to during the final concert (someone from America), he and I both ugly cried when Romeo and Cinderella happened.
On the last day I did one last sweep of the exhibit hall and while walking past the industry booths, I saw a staff member holding up a sign with 「八王子P」written on it. Next thing I knew...he was right there, signing autographs. I didn’t know who’d be there, nor did I expect it to be possible to meet anyone. Yet...one of my favorite producers was not but 10 feet away from me and all I had to do was...buy his newest EP, and I could get his autograph. Not only did I get his autograph, I got lucky when I drew my lottery ticket and was allowed to shake his hand. I was so starstruck that I forgot my Japanese and had to use Google translate to tell him how happy his music has always made me, and partly why I now live in Japan. He...just laughed and kept saying thank you as he shook my hand. I cried in the bathroom right after.
I really met Hachioji-P. It’s not called Magical Mirai for nothing, I guess.
Part of me thinks it was such an emotional weekend because of the news with my grandfather, and me having trouble expressing any sorrow over it. When the stage teased that one wowaka’s songs was next with the video screen, the crowd didn’t chant for Miku or Rin or Luka, or anyone else. Everyone in unison just kept screaming “WO! WA! KA! WO! WA! KA! WO! WA! KA!” He’s gone...but his music has been so impactful to thousands, if not millions of people all over the world. I only hope that he was able to hear us, from all 5 shows, screaming his name. It couldn’t be helped, me thinking of my grandfather in that moment. I want to remember Buddy the same way all those fans remember wowaka.
I called Luis after the first day and talked my feelings out about my grandfather with him. There...wasn’t much to be said, but it was nice (and surprising) when he told me how he went through the same emotions a few years ago when his own grandfather died a few years ago...while we were all at MomoCon together. I can’t imagine how he felt during that weekend after he got the message from his family. Still, knowing that someone at least understands why I’m feeling (or rather, not feeling) does provide some reassurance.
There is no solution to this, I know, but...Luis offered me a bit of comforting words in knowing that he’s about to be going somewhere where he won’t be hurting anymore- no more cancer, aching bones, or fluid bags, or anything at all. He’ll be somewhere where he has his voice again! He’ll be able to go swimming without the worry of water getting caught in his throat hole. He’ll have all his hair, again! I know I can’t follow him there, not right now, anyway. But for the moment...that’s how I’m trying to cope with this situation.
Justin/Logy and his girlfriend, Jasper, are planning to be in Japan for Christmas next year. Thanks to the Olympics, the Tokyo dates for Magical Mirari 2020 had to be moved from summer time to right before Christmas. When I passed the news along to them, they immediately agreed that we’d all go together at least for one day, in cosplay. The magic continues….

A warm and sweet Yuri!!! On Ice fanfic
Pairing: Viktor Nikiforov/Katsuki Yuuri  |  Words: 1,155  |  Tags: Absolute Fluff
Summary: Viktor likes to reminisce about the little moments in life, especially when they include Yuuri.
Inspired by @micocoadraws  ++ and @mikkapi  ++  fanart!
There were moments, reverential and striking, that lasted a lifetime in Viktor Nikiorov. Most of those moments steamed from a time that seemed like forever ago, when Viktor owned the ice. It was when practice and training met a peak so high it resembled the submit of a mountain, sweat glistening and blood rushing and muscles sore and throbbing. It was when all eyes and cameras were pointed directly and solely at him. When people were at the edge of their seat as a story created by Viktor unfolded before them. When he left everyone breathless, gasping, crying, yelling, and clapping uncontrollably from the performance.
Yeah, those moments left a scar so deep and aching it felt like a fresh wound.
But those weren’t the only ones that managed to claim a special place in his heart. No, not even the times he stood on the podium as he received another golden medal compared to these.
Some of these moments were small, brief and fleeting, while others lingered just a bit longer. But each of them held so much simply because they were shared with Katsuki Yuuri. Funnily enough, they happened randomly, impetuous honestly, and usually Yuuri was clueless. Still, Viktor clung to them as they came and tried to document them every chance he got. On Instagram, of course. (Or Facebook.)
Viktor also very much liked the ones when Yuuri was aware of their sparks.
Like, for the sake of a trip down memory lane, this one time when Viktor invited Yuuri out for a hot cup of cappuccino at the local Betty’s Antique Cafe. It was a tiny coffeehouse a bit away from the crowed city, made entirely of brick and a single window. A crooked sign swinging on the ledge above the door the only indicator. However, the interior was like a warm and cozy cabin, with wooden everything and a simple fireplace.
Viktor happened upon it when on a stroll, not because he gotten lost, and immediately thought of Yuuri the minute he laid eyes on it. He made a mental note of dragging Yuuri there for a relaxed evening together--once he found him, that was.
One way or another, they ended up setting at a round table for two next to the window. Only one other couple shared the experience a ways down from them.
“How’d you find this place, Viktor?” Yuuri asked after ordering a cinnamon mocha and a chocolate croissant, glancing around the little place with amusement. “It’s kinda far from the usual places you hang out at, isn’t it?”
Viktor grinned, as if ready to tell a wild story. “I saw it while doing a bit of sightseeing. I got so carried away that I ended up here.” He fiddled with the salt shaker, still staring as Yuuri continued to look around. “It made me think of you.”
The words were said causally, at least to Viktor, but they drew Yuuri back to him. Eyes glittery and shimmering like undiscovered gemstones, Yuuri stared back at Viktor, a soft flush creeping up his face and a shy little smile upturning the corners of his lips.
Viktor loved it.
Quick as lightening, he made to snatch up his phone from his breast pocket. He jammed his finger onto his camera app and aimed for the perfect shot--only to have the barista's arm photobomb the picture. Damnit.
“Here you two go, a cinnamon mocha and chocolate croissant for you.” The elderly woman set the order down gently in front of Yuuri. “And a hazelnut cappuccino with a banana nut muffin for you.” She did the same for Viktor, smiling amiably at the two. “Anything else I can get for you two gents?”
Viktor shook his head dejectedly while Yuuri chuckled and thanked the woman.
“Saved by the server from an impulsive photographer.” Yuuri took a short sip of his drink, hiding a smile behind the mug. “Cheers.”
Phone still in hand and readily aimed, Viktor snapped a quick pic and uploaded it not a second after. Yuuri had a look stuck somewhere between disbelief and the beginnings of a giggle, eyebrows arched high and gaping mouth twitching into a grin. Viktor had to physically resist the urge to take another photo, setting the phone aside and picking up his own hot mug.
“I'll have to settle for this one for now.” Viktor returned Yuuri’s little grin with a cheeky one of his own. “And I wouldn’t be taking so many pictures if you weren’t so cute all the time.”
Yuuri’s eyes drifted down, his croissant suddenly compelling, and worried his bottom lip between his teeth. Viktor’s fingers twitched, phone right there, and instead snatched up his muffin.
“Well,” started Yuuri, ripping a tiny piece of bread and shyly glancing up through his lashes, “I do love having your attention on me, Vitya.”
It took a moment for it to sink in, Viktor pausing mid-chew as the words tickled his ear, but damn when it did hit him. One of the biggest, face splitting smiles Yuuri has ever seen formed on his lips.
“Yuuri,” Viktor breathed, eyes twinkling something fierce and hands prepared to attack. “I want to kiss you.”
A surprised gasp escaped Yuuri before he could stop it, face hot from the exclamation. Although they cuddled and kissed causally and frequently at their shared apartment, public displays of affection still gave Yuuri butterflies in his gut. There was this film projector at the back of his mind that always liked to show him all the “what if”s in life.
What if someone said something? What if Yuuri had something in his teeth? What if Viktor didn’t like it? What if Yuuri forgot deodorant? What if they held up a line? What if Viktor’s fanclub finally snaps and they ambush Yuuri in a dark alley?
They were silly thoughts, when Yuuri calmed down and shuffled through them, but they piled high and heavy. Small things people really shouldn’t worry over, but Yuuri somehow always did. However, with as much time and encouragement Viktor liked to shower him with, there were moments when Yuuri shoved all that to the side. Bursts of courage and affection that fueled his actions.
Right then and there, in a small and quaint cafe, it was one of those moments.
Yuuri gently gripped the back of Viktor’s head, careful as he reached over the table, and pulled him forward into the softest kiss Viktor has ever experienced.
The pair had their eyes closed, arms wrapped around each other as best they could, the suns faint rays shining through the tiny window and spilling around them. The forgotten couple and barista jumping at the opportunity to take the perfect picture. One of them whistled quietly as the other two shared a look.
So, yeah. Viktor had thousands of moments that held a special place in his heart, but none of them compared to those shared with Yuuri.
°˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖° Thank you so much for reading and hoped you enjoyed!

Buy me a coffee
“Just tea, huh…?”
Kaneko blinked at the bright sunlight and looked up at her friend. “Oh, yes… I don’t know, I’m not really in the mood for coffee lately.” Did he… no. No she shouldn’t make any presumptions, Tsukiyama was a very kind person but he was a bit dense at times and she doubted that he was that aware of what happened around him.
“Well that happens, I mean you probably had enough of coffee during the exam phase, studying in the library until late at night can be -”
“I’m pregnant.”
“... oh?”
Oh? That was all he had to say?
“Does the father know -”
“... no.” It felt odd to admit it. “It was a one night stand… a mistake… I got reckless, you know you always hear people talking about how great sex is but nobody really teaches you a thing about it…” Almost instinctively she gently caressed the light bump under her shirt. “But I don’t think I’ll keep it. I can’t take care of myself and a baby… it wouldn’t be fair for either of us and I’m alone. I don’t even know its father’s name so I think I’ll -”
“Move in with me.”
“Excuse me?” She almost dropped the cup she was holding in her hands as her heart skipped a beat. “You’re not serious now are…? You really…?”
“Well, we used to live together during High School when my family still took care of you, so it’s just like going back to as things were before, I mean only if you want to.” A warm smile formed on his lips as he gently patted her head. “You’ve always been a part of my life, I can’t just ignore that now that you need me more than ever before.”
There were words lingering on her tongue, a storm raged inside of her head and she felt how her chest tightened. She knew that there was no way in which she could ever repay him or his family for their kindness, but at the same time Kaneko also knew that she needed his help, there was no way pride would stop her.
“Thank you so much -”
The young man laughed and patted her back as she hugged him tightly. “There there… no need to cry, you’re not alone. Neither of you…” He cupped her cheeks and laughed. “Didn’t I promise to be your knight?”
“You did.” Years ago, a promise he made as a child, but she never thought he’d actually keep it. When they were kids it made here happy, as a teenager she thought of it as cheesy, but now all she felt was gratitude. “... you’re more than knight… you’re my best friend…”
***
When he said moving in all she could think of was moving into his apartment, she didn’t think that he meant moving into a new house with her. Did he…? Kaneko felt odd, did he just do it because she was pregnant…? Was she nothing but a burden to the Tsukiyama family?
“Do you like it?” Shuu stepped out of the house, wearing an old pair of jeans and a worn out t-shirt, he insisted on doing the renovations all by himself, with just a little help by his friends. Which in the end meant that Banjou had to carry all the furniture and put together what wasn’t ready yet, while Hinami helped Shuu cleaning and painting the walls.
“... I do…” But no matter how happy she should be, she didn’t feel anything but guilt. “I’m sorry for being such a burden to all of you…” Her hands were shaking as she dug her fingers deep into her jacket, trying to hold back the tears.
“You’re not a burden.”
She felt a large hand gently patting her head, it wasn’t Tsukiyama, he had smaller hands, delicate ones. Kaneko sniffled and looked up. “But… Yomo-san I-”
The man just shook his head and smiled at her. “Trust me. We care about you and being able to help you now is all that matters.” He picked up the remaining boxes with Kaneko’s belongings up and carried them inside the house, Shuu lingered in the doorframe watching his friend.
“He’s right you know? I talked to papa, it was time for me to move into my own house anyway. My landlord didn’t allow me to adopt a pet… and I always wanted a cat.” But she could tell that he was lying, not that he didn’t want a cat, it was just that she knew him well enough to be able to tell whether or not he was honest. “I also told him that you’re moving in with me.”
“D-Does he know?” Cold sweat ran down her spine, she felt as if her heart was going to break, did she let him down? Mirumo-san took care of her when she lost her mother, he raised her as if she was his own child, made sure she had the best chances to build a secure future for herself and now this…
“He does!” A warm smile formed on his lips. “He is really looking forward to finally holding his first grandchild in his arms… Papa knows that I’m not the father, but you’re a part of our family.”
It rained again, huh? It was such a beautiful warm and sunny day and yet it rained. Once the rain stopped she looked at Shuu who was still waiting for her.
“Now come in.”
Stepping over the threshold would mean it was really her new home now. Stepping over it meant that the impulsive thought, the naive idea her friend had would become reality. If he was really ready for this…? They could still back out, he didn’t need to do this, but seeing him extending his hand to her, offering to take this step with her made her finally take the first step towards their future.
“So…?” Not that he wanted to be pushy about hearing her opinion, but he spent a lot time renovating the house, making it pretty and cozy so she’d feel at home, at peace. All he wanted was for her to have a place she could always return to, a place that always reminded her of the fact that people loved her, a place where she could see herself raising her child in.
“It’s beautiful…” Now there was the enthusiasm they both missed in the beginning. The house was large, big enough for them, the baby, and their friends, it was open and welcoming. Tsukiyama made sure to add a touch of home to it, with decorations and flowers everywhere, he even put up frames with pictures of them and their friends. … so this is what a home felt like… the Tsukiyamas were always kind to her, but it felt as if she was an intruder in their home.
Now she had a home of her own, surrounded by people she loved.
“I have something to show you!” Shuu took her hand and led her upstairs, his hands were so warm, a little dried out from all the work he did… but warm. “This is your bedroom! I painted it in your favourite colour.”
Pastel blue and white looked so nice together. Her bed was large enough for her and another person… she could already see herself lying on that bed with her baby. There was a small corner she could use as workspace, plenty of room for books and clothes. “Thank you. It’s beautiful.”
“Oh! That’s not all!” No no, there was something by far more important for her to see. “Close your eyes…” And she did, his heart jumped realising how much she trusted them. “Carefully…”
Where did they go…? The house still faintly smelled like fresh paint, but also as if a little fairy took her time to clean it. They stopped, she felt another threshold below her feet, so it was another room? “Can I open my eyes now?”
“Yes! Please.”
Why was he so excited - “Oh my God!” It was a child’s bedroom, painted in gentle blues, purples and pinks, a little green here and there. “You… drew my baby…?” The biggest wall was decorated with a scenery from a rainy day that was yet to come, a child in a sunflower yellow raincoat was playing in the rain, surrounded by beautiful hydrangeas. “It’s wonderful…” Kaneko gently caressed her tummy while looking around. “There are so many beautiful things waiting for you… are you looking forward to it? I am… I can’t wait for you to see it.”
… was she happy now? Shuu felt his heart ache watching her, not that it was because he was sad, maybe he was just moved. It felt as if she finally accepted that she would be a mother, now it was real, wasn’t it? All of the sudden he realised what kind of responsibility they had now, this little human that was growing inside of his best friend needed both of them. Their mother and their uncle, they needed to protect the baby, make sure it would grow up happy, sheltered and loved.
It was lot of responsibility for the two of them, but in the end it wasn’t just them, they had his father, their friends and most importantly the baby. Even though it would mean a lot of work, hardships and all the struggles that came with parenting, there would also be moments in which they would forget about all of that.
“Shuu! Kaneko!”
“Oh, the little lady calls, let’s go. She made dinner for everyone.”
Kaneko took her time, Shuu wasn’t the only one who was confronted with the reality of things. She sat down in the chair next to the baby’s bed, she gently rocked it and then sighed. “What do you think, little one? How will our future look like?”
Nothing was certain at this point. Well one thing was… her future was brighter than expected thanks to her friends, especially Tsukiyama.
