Ai pisses me off so much. Not ai that does basic computing tasks or advances important science, I mean the ai that blends up other people’s work and spits it back up as some hideous slop. Genuinely makes me so mad, I’ll fully admit that I’ve generated some goofy images in the past few years and they’ve been hilariously bad but the more I really stop to think about it no amount of haha funnies can override just how unfair it is. Artists spend years improving and making their own style and then the beep boop robots come in to steal it and put it in a blender before regurgitating it for some ai bro to yap about and try to profit off of. Ai music too, I’m much less into songwriting than I am drawing but just the idea of something that I spend painstaking hours into perfecting and making sound right being scraped and made into slop pisses me off

that annoying ai RDJ-jon is still on top of every tma related tag, unmarked as ai. so i have to talk about this other post.
putting aside weird anatomy (why are there pits in her shoulder), the lack of anything approaching a character design aside from 'pretty white woman', how she's half undressed for some reason, and any number of other things - look closer at the background. we're being watched
what's... what are these
these eyes are genuinely so funny to me. they can't be by the same entity that made the original: a human artist would draw them in a style matching the portrait, and an image generator would either do that, or generate something more photorealistic
so im trying to figure out the thought process here. was it an artistic flair to feel like they 'made' the art? to try and beat the ai allegations? or just to make it more 'tma'-y? did op truly not see the vast difference in style between them and the rest of the image?
or did they just not care, said, 'Meh, im not gonna spend more than 10 mins on this - What am i, an artist?'
and hit post

I keep thinking about this one splash page which the fantranslators of the Kaze To Ki No Uta translation I read would have inserted at the beginnings of volumes.
Kaze To Ki No Uta is a manga which I could best compare to being stabbed in the chest repeatedly by Aubrey Beardslay and Thomas Mann while being yelled at and degraded for eight volumes or so. It's not "literary-pornographic", so much as "literary-obscene". It's effect is similar to the Marquis de Sade, in how Sade wrote his pornographic works to be so completely monomaniacally perverse, so obsessively, compulsively so, and so deeply immersed in the farthest, most homicidal forms of perversion that nobody at all could read his works as scintillating, and yet the people who translated Kaze To Ki No Uta thought of it as this:
This is the kind of manga which should be guarded by men with guns from the average hentai or fujoshi, and yet here we are.

IT'S DAY EIGHT GUYS OF MILGRAMTOBER HERE WE GOOOO
What is a queen bee (idiom)?
The queen bee is a woman who holds the most important position in a place.
Why do bees reject (overthrow) their queen?
The colony will reject their queen if they are unsatisfied. Figuratively speaking, she is voted out.
Muu is at the top of her school, she'd like to think.
She's got people listening to her every word, clinging on to it.
Classmates telling her everything that happens in this school.
People sent to stop people who want to dethrone her classmates that just aren't liked.
Maybe she feels a little bad for the bullying that happens in her school, but...
It's... she's at the top. She has people listening, people who like her. They're her friends.
So... isn't that good enough?
...it's not like everything that happens is her fault after all.
She's just the Queen, the Queen Bee of the school. She's not the person who does all of these things (usually). She's just a "bystander." So, she has nothing to do with what happens.
Other people go out and do these things for her. Anything that happens is not her fault. It can't be. If not hers, then whose fault is it?
But, she honestly doesn't understand what's going on now.
Muu hums as she walks through the halls, hands behind her back. She's not with her group of friends this time because she woke up a little late for them to walk to school together.
Muu passes by a corner and hears snickers. She looks around and sees laughing faces half hidden behind hands.
It's like they're trying to hide the fact they're laughing at her.
People are laughing at her. What? What is going on? This doesn't make any sense. Everyone liked her. Everyone likes her. They listen to her and her every word.
So, what is this?
...Muu stops walking and whips around to the laughing faces.
"Stop laughing!"
The laughter stops for a moment before it grows in volume.
"Muu said stop! Shut up! Listen to her!"
The laughter grows and grows and Muu places her hands over her ears.
She turns around and runs away from the growing laughter.
Eventually, she sees her classroom and—
Muu bumps into someone. Looking at the person who turned around, it's Sayu. She has to know.
"S-Sayu, what's going on? Muu doesn't understand. Why is everyone laughing at her?" Muu asks, begging for an answer.
"What did Muu do...?" She whispers, her eyes suddenly feeling wet.
Sayu scoffs. "Seriously, Muu? You're seriously acting like you're so innocent?"
"Muu doesn't know what she did wrong. Please, just tell her—!"
"Shut up. Leave me alone, you whine so much." Sayu walks away, leaving Muu confused and hurt.
Unsure of what to do next, she slowly walks over to her classroom. Opening the door, she looks around.
"No one's here." Muu exhales, relieved, and walks over to her seat.
She sits down and places her head on the table.
She's lucky, she thinks as she takes a glance around the room. No one has gotten to her classroom just yet—
The chalkboard.
She knows she shouldn't stare at it, but she is.
"You're looking down on us, aren't you?"
"...'Trash'noki Mu ❤️."
"Just benefits from her parents."
"Worth less than a cockroach."
What?
What did Muu do wrong? She... She didn't do anything wrong, right? She just played along with what everyone wanted. She was the Queen because she was and she was important. Everyone listened to her. So, what did she do?
It's not her fault what happens to others. Everyone just did what they told and she followed her word. So...
What happened can't be her fault, right?

had to unfollow and artist i enjoyed bc they talked about how they use ai and took the stance of, "people need to stop attacking me for it bc it's been really helpful to me as a disabled artist 🥺 we should be standing together as artists not trying to divide ourselves 🥺" you know what else ai does? YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE AI DOES??? IT USES ENOUGH ENERGY TO KILL OUR PLANET MUCH FASTER THAN ANYTHING ELSE WE CAN DO ENERGY-WISE.
i am a disabled artist too. my cognitive and mental disabilities that make burnout a substantial roadblock aside, i can have frequent and extreme pain in my wrist (sometimes out of nowhere, sometimes as a result of drawing) that makes drawing an extremely painful and slow process for me (this is due to hypermobility probably). sometimes i draw in spite of the pain, and sometimes it's enough to have me taking long breaks. as a result of the combination of disabilities i have, i am an extremely slow artist. sometimes i struggle with having intense motivation to create, but no actual inspiration because of things going on in my head. and it's a struggle because i desperately want to create, but nothing is coming to me, which makes me feel really bad. and in spite of ALL of this, i still will not use fucking ai to "soothe the uninspired motivation" or to "create in spite of my pain". i will not hand my humanity over to ai because of such trivial reasons. ai could never do what i can, because creating is about the process, not the end result. i feel accomplished in a way that using ai could never provide when i see a piece coming together, something that i've created from nothing. ai will never provide that feeling.
