#and it doesn't mean you can say what the age gap is when literal canon can't keep its timeline coherent

Also, to everyone who argues the age gap is problematic: Canon doesn't have a coherent timeline. Tim has been 17 for like 30 years. I'm pretty sure Dick and Jason only have a two year age gap in modern comics, which makes zero sense, but that's why arguing against the pairing due to the age gap is nonsensical. While the people claiming moral superiority are giving Jason and Roy about an eight year gap, they need to understand that their choice of canon doesn't define what canon is, since canon is a fucking trainwreck with timelines. It's kind of giving gatekeeping vibes- trying to define what everyone else can consider canon. Just because your definition of what counts as canon makes it a problematic relationship (although still not actually illegal/grooming/predatory) to you doesn't mean it's actually an inherently inappropriate relationship.
In other words
"Roy wouldn't like Jason! They have completely opposing ideologies! It's out of character for Roy!"
Jason was a general menace that kidnapped Mia for one conversation in a pathetic attempt to convince her to abandon Ollie and partner with him instead. He kills criminals, but only criminals. His mindset as Red Hood is "I'm protecting civilians by killing criminals"
Jade is a mercenary, an assassin, someone who kills people for money regardless of whether or not they're a criminal and has no problem killing people without monetary incentive. Roy fell in love with her. The government told him to bring her in, since she's a mercenary, and he fell in love with her and didn't bring her in, indirectly allowing her to continue to kill people.
Out of character my ass.
#I'm tired of the Jason and Roy tag being full of people just hating on the ship#The DC fandom has so many unbelievably problematic ships#(looking at you psuedo-cest shippers and abusive relationship stans)#There are people who ship adopted siblings and even parents with their adopted kids#If you want to take a moral stand then there are more than enough genuinely problematic ships to feel righteous over#I understand not like Roy's characterization in New-52#I don't like it either#but that doesn't mean Roy getting along with Jason goes against his pre-52 characterization#and it doesn't mean you can say what the age gap is when literal canon can't keep its timeline coherent

my god can you STFU?? You keep telling people âyou didnât actually watch the show!â No you didnât! You say Carol is a whore and a creepy person, when she isnât . Fans of Carol x Daryl might say âoh this oh that!â But they are the ones making to weird, not the characters and the writers. Also stop attacking the fucking actors! What the hell is wrong with you? What did the girl who play Carol do to you?
Donât get me started on being a hypocrite and a liar. And saying things like âI donât attack people!â But literally are mean to everyone no matter how nice they are. (Yeah I saw that person asking questions nicely and the way you responded to them? Ew. Just ew. They didnât say or bring up half the shit you mentioned and you were a fucking ass.)
Yeah the gross sexual messages are gross. Iâm sorry you get those! They arenât fun I know. Donât respond to them, people will send more trust me! (Iâve had people send shit like that to me)
People are hating on you because you are a proshipper and have openly admitted to being okay with older men dating underage girls! (Donât care if â16 is legalâ itâs still gross and shouldnât be legal) But when two people have a like 2-5 year age gap both above the age of 30? Oh no thatâs wrong! Because the woman is older and has a husband before! (Even thought itâs not canon and she doesnât ever flirt with Daryl. Itâs almost always a joke?)
also Daryl is late 30s or early 40s Iâve always put him around 39. That doesnât make shipping him with a 16 year old okay. Donât care if she turns 18 at one point, thatâs still so weird. (And Iâm not saying Daryl is a creep, why? Because itâs not fucking canon. Heâs a good guy and I love Beth and his relationship with Beth. I donât see it as romantic because thatâs gross! If you had a better explanation other than just âoh itâs legalâ maybe I wouldnât think itâs so gross. But yk you are a fucking weirdo for saying that)
Calling all the shippers people who condone SA and saying it about not even shippers? Ew wtf. Donât even get me started on the fact that you seem to be a bigger fan of the ship than the shippers!
Oh also itâs not SA to jokingly flirt with your friend or provide comfort to them! Especially when they donât ever out rightly say not to. If anything you go back and watch later seasons and Daryl likes being around Carol! Why? Because they are friends. You are the only person Iâve seen say weird shit. And again, THE SHIP ISNT CANON. Yes Carol has done shit, but they only reason you seem to hate her are because of a couple toxic shippers.
And I wouldnât have a problem with any of this, if you were a good person! If you didnât lie and say weird ass shit all the time. You probably are a troll I know. But itâs annoying.
(Also not everyone woman who is friends with a man wants them for sex? And if you are going to say characters are bad? Have good points! And hold up other characters (that are usually worse) as well. They are just as bad. Fuck you and have a good night)
oh also I saw you say âdonât make everything sexual!â No one is, itâs just you (also your ao3 bookmarks are public⌠why are you reading smut about a 16 year old and a guy in his 40s- sorry my bad canât have my own headcanons, late 30s? Kind of weird⌠someone people not like us by Kendrick!)
xoxo a bitch ass mf (WHO DOESNT SHIP BETH WITH ANYONE AND DOESNT SHIP DARYL WITH ANYONE SO DONT YOU DARE DO THAT SHIT) eat my shit!
I saw you say if they don't say No then it's okay to verbally sexually molested them so everything you said suddenly doesn't matter.
#ask me anything#remember#if they don't say no it's okay#anti carol#carol is a disgusting old sock#carol peletier#carol peepee eater#carol doesn't know consent#carol is disgusting#Carol has a issue with âNoâ like a drunken man at a bar

In Marauder era (or 1st Wizarding World era) fics, all the characters that we know from the actual books/movies (i.e., The Marauders + Lily, the Malfoys, Bellatrix, etc.), or just characters that are more known, are all put in Hogwarts together at the same time, and it confuses me.
They couldnât have all been at school together, could they? And even if they were, most of them would have to be years ahead, no? It especially confuses me when Bellatrix is the one in school with them, but her and Narcissa are the only ones that are ever mentioned. Andromeda is literally not that much younger than Bella and older than Narcissa, so you would think that she would appear, yet she doesnât. Why exactly are they always all bunched together? And what are their actual ages?
this is a bit of worldbuilding which i'm not fond of either, anon.
i get why it happens - hogwarts is a school and, therefore, requires a large cast of characters as fellow students, and since marauders-era writers don't have the advantage that lightning gen writers do of being able to lift these characters directly from the text, the few names we do know from canon of people who lived and died during the first war get used to fill in the gaps.
there are also - obviously - some inconsistencies in the text itself caused by jkr's functional innumeracy. if we take the date of birth given for bellatrix on the black family tree she drew in 2006 - 1951 - then she would graduate hogwarts in either 1969 or 1970, depending on when in the year her birthday is. but sirius says in goblet of fire that she was friends with snape at school.
i ignore sirius and go with the given date of birth because it works better for my worldbuilding - and i have andromeda born in 1953 [leaving hogwarts in 1971 or 1972] and narcissa born in 1955, as per the family tree, but in the autumn [therefore leaving hogwarts in 1974 - and married in 1975, allowing narcissa's wedding to be the last time sirius sees bellatrix, since, as he tells us in order of the phoenix, this took place when he was fifteen] - but i think authors can shift the sisters' birthdays later if they do want to have them overlap more with the marauders generation without it being too much of a problem.
lucius malfoy's date of birth can be worked out fairly easily from canon. in the autumn of 1995, he's forty-one - as we're told in order of the phoenix - which means he was born in 1954 [or - if he has a winter birthday - late 1953] and was at hogwarts between either 1965-1972 or 1966-1973 depending on when in the year his exact birthday is - if it's october 1953-august 1954, he's in the former cohort; if it's september 1954 [which is when the article in which his age is mentioned is published] then he's in the latter. we know he overlaps with the marauders cohort very briefly - since he's shown meeting snape in the prince's tale - but, since he's either a sixth- or seventh-year at the time, i find it unlikely that he paid james and sirius much attention, or that they paid him much attention in turn.
[lucius must - let's be real - go rather under the radar, since he's clearly able to recruit death eaters while at school - and immediately after leaving it - without being noticed.]
what i'm much less inclined to be flexible on is the fanon which has characters like dorcas meadowes, marlene mckinnon, emmeline vance, and so on all be at hogwarts with the marauders - which doesn't work for me for the very basic reason that the order of the phoenix is not an army of child soldiers.
the implication of canon is definitely that the four marauders and lily are an exception to the make-up of the rest of the order - likely for the sensible tactical reason that dumbledore had all the ministry infiltrators he needed, but didn't have people who would be able to provide information about voldemort's recruitment of younger death eaters, which the marauders were clearly able to do by virtue of having been at school with them all [and - in sirius' case - being related to two of them].
it's also clear in the text that dorcas meadowes [who is the only person in the first war other than james and lily we know was killed by voldemort himself] must have been an important political figure - otherwise the dark lord would have left her for one of his minions - and that james and lily don't know marlene mckinnon well enough for her to have been a school friend.
[if she was - as is the common fanon - sirius' teenage girlfriend, i would like to hope that lily's letter to him mentioning her death would devote a little more space to the event than it canonically does...]
what i love to see is the rest of the order - hardened aurors and civil servants who've been locked into the war with voldemort since the marauders started school - being a combination of faintly amused and supremely irritated by the group of cocky young bastards who've just turned up at their meetings, and who seem to think the whole "being a paramilitary" thing is a big laugh.
[especially because it's then so much easier to explain why everyone involved could believe that sirius was guilty...]

Man I love sibling dynamics so much though.
Fully just projecting what I like to read, but it would be incredible if, inspired by the Touden, Toshiro arrived at his house with a newfound determination to improve his relationship with his siblings.
Which has, of course, mixed results.
(ended up blabbing about what I think their relationship is like and what it would be like if Toshiro came back with the crazy idea in his head of, hey, let's be actual brothers)
Basically I think Toshiyuki doesn't get it and fights it every step of the way. Can see him having some weird unsolved frustrations towards Toshiro? There's the one (1) silly comic we have on him, "how come my big brother gets a team of all sexy women he doesn't even enjoy it" (paraphrasing hard), which to me reads like... Okay so he can read Toshiro kind of well? But he doesn't understand him in the slightest.
Which is INCREDIBLE.
I think Toshiyuki is in a very particular position in his family. There's a 13 year age gap if I'm not wrong, kind of big, isn't it? I've seen it theorised that maybe the Nakamoto parents kept having babies die after birth, an idea supported by the fact that Toshiro was canonically a sickly child.
When I learned about his brothers and their ages though, and how dismissive Toshiro's dad is of them, how he calls all of them dull... How at age 26 Toshiro is still unmarried and isn't being pressured to marry (To be fair this could be a rare sympathetic decision from Toshitsugu. Maybe he wanted to marry Maizuru but couldn't, so instead he's giving his children the liberty of marrying who they want whenever they want).
To be honest? What I thought was: ah, so Toshitsugu married his actual wife over Maizuru likely because it was a marriage of convenience. Originally he only wanted a kid out of the union so he'd take over the household eventually, but then Toshiro turned out all sickly and soft and introverted, so eventually he was like, FINE, we need a backup inheritor.
Which, man, sucks for Toshiro AND Toshiyuki. I mean, Toshiro is 26!!!! You'd think it wouldn't be a contest! But they're literally making him prove himself against his siblings who are 13 and 11??? That sends a very clear message to me, and it's not one of trust.
Anyway. I think that'd make Toshiyuki a bit... Weird about his brother. Aware that he's messing up somehow, but also he's so strong and adult, literally has 13 years of experience on him. Like he's living on his shadow, but also is expected to step out of it.
Middle sibling complex? No way, something worse. Back up eldest sibling. Made especially evident by the fact that when Ryoko Kui introduces the relationship of the Nakamoto siblings she says there's "a weird distance between Toshiro and them".
I can see Toshiyuki having more experience being an older brother to Toshizane than Toshiro. Better? Not sure...? But, he probably was there for him more. Probably even trained with him
Which is FUNNY because I get THE SOFTEST OF VIBES FROM TOSHIZANE. I don't wanna say "Toshiro 2.0" but??
Look at his little face. Compare it to Toshiyuki, then to baby Toshiro.
Filial resentment my beloved. This would be one of the first actions that Toshiro takes without being ordered or promoted by someone else, which would both be meaningful and BIZARRE to Toshiyuki.
Oh, I hope they have an argument lol. Or at least that Toshiyuki gets to yell about how things are from his perspective.
Anyways, with that in mind, I think Toshiro would have an easier time bonding with Toshizane. Again, wistful thinking, but if he really has that same softness that Toshiro had... And if he's around someone like Toshiyuki, who probably can't relate and is probably being too Toshizane like how Hien was to Toshiro:
You know, "toughen up", well meaning advice, they ARE in the family's shady, shady business. But, it likely did cause a wedge between Toshiro and Hien eventually, him not knowing how to deal with her bluntness so instead he distances himself.
That, plus the fact that one of the main things that attracted him to Falin was realising that she was an adult that had managed to hold onto her childhood softness and oddity...
Yeah, I think that if he noticed history potentially repeating itself in Toshizane he'd think about intervening. And since this imagine is about Toshiro going back home, committing to being more proactive, then in this story he does reach out, tries to be the adult he would've liked to have in his life for his baby brother
Which of course! May annoy Toshiyuki! Why is Toshizane picking sides like that!? (He's not) Are you trying to steal him, Toshiro!!?!? (He's not!)
Anyway, fun fun fun.

Iâm not a fan of kabru/mithrun but can I ask why itâs bad to ship? Iâve read the whole manga and afaik theyâre not related, theyre both adults.
hi anon. i know you're asking in good faith and i'm gonna answer in good faith, but before i do, i have to say it's kinda wild that multiple people interpreted "you're weird for shipping this" as "there is something deeply morally wrong with this ship" when i never actually said that. a ship can be bad without breaking some kind of moral or societal taboo, and i think more of you have to remember that. sometimes things just suck. sometimes you can just be a hater.
that said, here's why kabru/mithrun is weird. first of all one thing that really bothers me is the age gap. not literally of course, they're different races so comparing literal numbers means nothing; i mean in terms of maturity. here's a post about otta that i think is applicable: [link] the main relevant point is that you can roughly divide an elf's age by five to get a sense of how old they are in tallman years. mithrun is 185, and in tallman years would be about 37. kabru is 22, and that's just way too big of an age gap for me. like, it doesn't even fit into that "half your age plus seven" rule. again, before people get defensive, i'm not calling the ship """problematic""" or whatever bullshit. i'm just saying, personally, they're too far apart for me.
there's also the part where the canaries are milsiril's peers, not kabru's. kabru/mithrun would be like dating one of your mom's old coworkers. gonna link to another post here since i'm just repeating the same points they made: [link] this one's not as notable since it's not like milsiril and mithrun were besties or anything, just another thing that feels weird.
okay, i've explained my good faith reasons for disliking kabru/mithrun. now i get to be a hater.
hey did you guys forget that mithrun is like, openly racist?
like you can ship what you want or whatever, but i think if you're gonna ship kabru with this guy then you shouldn't complain when people call you weird for it. i'm just saying.
edit: this post is getting notes again so i guess i should give an update since my opinions have slightly changed. i've seen people make pretty good arguments that mithrun is one of the only elves in canon who DOES treat kabru like an actual person and not an inferior child, and i also appreciate the relationship between them a bit more. remaking this post now i would probably leave out the part about the elves' racism since that does seem like yet another thing mithrun doesn't have the desire to care about anymore, so it's not entirely relevant. the rest of my points stand though and i still don't fuck w romantic kabu/misu
#i hope the edit makes sense. ive come to like kabru and mithruns friendship a lot more than i did when i made this post so#the point abt racism felt a bit disingenuous since mithruns the only elf who DOESNT have that attitude in canon#still not fucking w the ship though.#harold.txt#Anonymous#dunmeshi#dungeon meshi

George Is A Coward For Never Doing Gay Incest
an incomplete list of gay incest he could have done, it was right fucking there come onnnn
Rhaenys/Visenya you are telling me lesbian icon Visenya who hates her husband and lives completely separately from him for decades but somehow managed to live with him while Rhaenys is alive wasnât in love with Rhaenys? that the paternity of both aenys and maegor is questioned and we get nothing to delve into how that affected the relationship between the sisters? cowardly!
Viserys/Daemon, iâm gonna be honest EYE consider this canon and thereâs nothing george can do about it, like daemon beats the messenger who told him viserys remarried bc heâs so mad and thatâs NOT gay rage over how much he wants to be his brotherâs wife so they can be aegon and visenya and conquer the world together, even while daemon flaunts his privileges as a man?? nah i see right through gyldaynâs heterosexuality.
Aegon II/Aemond, you're telling me Aemond calls himself protector of the realm while his brother is dying of his wounds but specifically doesn't call himself king, and Aegon throws Aemond a party after Aemond kinslays and helps kicks off the war and those two weren't fucking?? whack.
Baela/Rhaena, Baela has this amazing, bad ass, ultimately completely useless stand off that ends in the deaths of two dragons, eventually married to an uncle/cousin who cheats on her constantly, and is completely shut out of politics aka she gets Rhaenyra-ed, and meanwhile Rhaena gets two husbands that adore her, a dragon, and significant respect from the Lords, I am telling you there is some sort of psychosexual obsession here in how in order for Rhaena to rise (and HEAL), Baela must fall and suffer, and Baela "trying desperately to be Daemon's mini me" Targaryen wouldn't get obsessive over this.
Aegon III/Gaemon Palehair is possibly incest given we donât know who Gaemonâs father is, also i know thereâs an awkward age gap but see: my gay little hands and characters i like, also, thereâs weird age gaps everywhere and aegon ii was old enough to have a bastard closer to aegon iiiâs age if george had been less of a coward smh. so much here in the way gaemonâs crown is torn from his head along with his mothers and heâs forced to serve the monarchy, only to fall in love with the living embodiment of every painful memory gaemon has, of aegon resenting the crown on his own head bc if heâd been the fourth born son he could have never married and lived his life with gaemon, with his brothers, with his mother, but now theyâre stuck in these roles that are going to devour them whole and he can see it coming but he canât stop it!
Daena/Elaena, listen, two sisters with bastards who choose different sides of a war because daena has only ever found freedom with the traditional, racist fucks that want to crown her son so she throws her lot in with them because she will not be a prisoner ever again dammit and elaena was only ever freed when daeron allowed her an outlet for her immense intelligence and sheâs in love with a dornish man who opens her eyes to the prejudices at court, and under all that are two girls who only ever found peace in the maidenvault through their small, stolen kisses and raising their bastards together, a little odd family forced together by the madness of their brother completely split apart by the madness of court LIKE??? HELLO?
Baelor Breakspear/Maekar, think of the POSSIBILITIES of how the monarchy is purposefully stepping away from incest only for two brothers so dissimilar to find an attraction between them they donât understand, Maekar always jealous of all that Baelor is given while Baelor longs for Maekarâs relative freedom and they refuse to say what they really mean, how they really feel, and Baelor dies by Maekarâs hand IT IS GIVING ALRIGHT
Jon/Aegon VI, I will be pushing this literally until the day ados comes out and my whole âthey gave show!dany aegonâs plot in the stormlands, the reach, and dorne which means jon/aegon is going to be full of homoeroticism and we will get a scene where Jon calls Aegon a child and Aegon throws a petulant fit in front of his unknown half baby brotherâ theory gets jossed. and if he doesnât do it heâs a coward AND I STAND ON THAT.
#valyrianscrolls#getting on my soap box#sexuality in westeros#add your own gay incest if you want xoxo#now to tag all these bitches smh#visaemon#rhaenys targaryen#snowspear#rhaenys the conqueror#visenya targaryen#daemon targaryen#gaemon palehair#daena the defiant#elaena targaryen#daena targaryen#baelor breakspear#maekar targaryen#jon snow#aegon vi targaryen#viserys the peaceful#aegon the unlucky#aegon the usurper#aemond targaryen#viserys targaryen#baela targaryen#rhaena targaryen

can i ask for any details about the hotd/jjk fic?
you mean aside from this lil WIP snippet?
I think I'm gonna call it "Write myself out of the history books" a line from All Time Low to match the rest of my 'Dropping Gojo into fandoms he didn't ask to be in' works đ
His name is Soren and let's just pretend its Valyrian when in actuality it's just one of my favorite Fire Emblem characters (I feel like Gojo would appreciate that though, prolly a Soren stan himself lol)
His dragon hatches in his crib and idk I headcanon that Rhaenyra would wait to let him name it himself because she probably did the same with Syrax? But then 2 yr-old Gojo is like 'her name is Blue Eyes White Dragon' and Rheanyra is like 'wtf no' and also, this is why you shouldn't let kids name their own damn dragons. Rhaenyra refuses to let him name his dragon after what she doesn't realize is a Yu-gi-oh card, and in they settle for Sylvion, which she thinks is just some obscure Valyrian word/reference his 'Uncle' Daemon taught him, but is in fact a Pokemon that bears striking resemblance to his dragon. It's one of Dreamfyre's eggs, mostly bright white, with blue accents and some slight pink in the membranes, hence, Sylvion. Which is also Gojo's favorite pokemon, so he's two for two with references in this life.
He knows damn well that Daemon is not his Uncle, and they (Rhaenyra, Daemon, Laenor) all know he knows even if they collectively don't acknowledge it. He's Daemon and Rhaenyra's 'accidental brothel baby' that she had to get shotgun wedding'd to Laenor for, which is why he's much older than canon-Jace.
The age gaps are: Satoru/Soren (0), Aegon (+2), Helaena (-1), Aemond (-2), Jace (-3), Luke (-4) idk if Joff or Daeron will be in this.
Aegon is in love with him literally at first sight. He's going to PINE FOREVER. Like so much angst when he realizes he doesn't just adore his nephew in a purely platonic sense - which his mother/grandfather already dislike - but is in fact homosexually and audaciously in love with him lol. He definitely tries to fuck himself out of his own gayness, which absolutely does not work, esp when he starts ending up gravitating to regular female whores to male whores who all bear a striking resemblance to his nephew.
Does Gojo know? Hmm yes but not really. It doesn't even cross his mind even though he is also very gay, and also knows incest is casually a normal thing in the Valyrian family. But to him, Aegon is his uncle, and also a man in a 'don't say gay' world, so he kind of intentionally doesn't look too deeply into it. He does notice Egg is very attached to him, but he's not sure how much of that is familial and platonic and just Egg's very handsy personality versus romantic. They played a lot together as kids, slept in the same bed etc back when they were young enough it didn't mean anything, and obviously Gojo never felt that way about what he thought was a 'cute sticky dumpling of a kid who thinks he hung the moon' so it'll be a longgg and difficult shift for him to see Egg in any other way.
Aemond worships him in a strictly platonic sense that totally feeds his god complex. Gojo is literally the warrior reborn to him. He's a one man army and everyone knows it and he's so out of any mortal's league instead of being jealous about it Aemond just straight up adores him like a god. Daemon and Laena don't get together in this fic (RIP Baela and Rhaena) so Laena is still alive and has Vhagar, so idk maybe Aemond has Vermithor.
On a related note, everyone worships him as a god (or a Valyrian devil, *ahem* Hightowers *ahem*) bc to them he may as well be one. He has all his OG powers, he's invincible and untouchable and literally unstoppable. He achieves infamy the world over during Stepstones Round 2 where he absolutely obliterates an entire army and a few islands besides. He straight up asks his 'grandfather' Corlys if he should just eradicate the whole island chain and permanently solve the problem. Of course, the story gets convoluted with the whole medieval 'he said she said' chain of communication so there are plenty of non-believers still. LOL jokes on them.
He adores Rhaenyra. Like he likes Laenor a lot, and is partial to his little brothers (yes Jace and Luke exist, idk if they're Laenor's or Daemon's yet tho. They would't be Harwins bc Rhaenyra took one look at Gojo and was like 'shit he's 100% Valyrian its gonna look weird as hell if his siblings dont look like him at all') and has a soft spot for his 'Uncle' Daemon, but the reason he even bothers to stick around and not just fuck off to Essos to raise his own empire is because of her. I headcanon Gojo to have zero relationship with his parents in JJK - which unfortunately is expected from 'the patriarch' aka his father, but deeply hurt him in regards to his mother, who also cared nothing for him. Yes total double standard, but that's patriarchy for you. Anyway Rhaenyra is the opposite - she cherishes him from day 1, and whether that's because she truly loved him at first sight or just loved the idea of a child of hers and Daemon's who knows. But she doted on him and took care of him in a way anomalous for mother's in Westeros, and Gojo always took note of that. He'd burn the world for her - or in this instance, cower it into submission so she can have her throne in peace.
He doesn't mind playing the 'radiant prince' for her, being the faultless and impossibly perfect heir to the throne, because he knows it strengthens her claim immeasurably when his achievements so obviously outshine her direct competitor (Egg, who in fact does not give a shite about the throne and just wants to run away on his dragon with Soren). He even quietly submits himself to the idea of taking a wife because he knows that's also expected of him, although he plans on copying Laenor and having some threesome magic going on. Will that have to come to pass though? Hmm idk yet
THERE WILL BE ZOMBIES. No Night King, but I absolutely believe that Gojo accidentally would become the Prince who was Promised. His birth once again upsets the balance of yet another world, and shifts events into motion that would have laid dormant otherwise. Does he bring magic back into world with his birth? That would be interesting. Idk yet tho.
I also believe in the Maester conspiracy, so that might be in this fic too

One thing I am still upset at until.tjis day is the one side stories episode where they dressed up as scooby doo characters.
Say what you want about the mlp comparison, but I'll give it as much as it being somewhat accurate. I don't know if I would've picked the same comparisons, but it makes sense. I can understand where it came from.
But this??? This is insane.
Let's start off with the biggest crime of all; Why is Fred AARON?? Listen I know old cartoon Fred has no personality, but Fred in the more recent adaptations (not counting Velma) has consistently been a himbo.
Fred has been reclaimed as an iconic himbo icon. With this characterization comes the fact that he is literally mystreet Garroth.
I have been rewatching mystery and incorporated recently. And with every scene with Fred that I watch, I think to myself, "This is literally Garroth."
It's not just the blonde hair, it's the personality. The energy.
Mystreet season 1 Garroth especially, yes he had the puff out your feathers scene. But he was also shown to be pretty smart when it came to other stuff. Well-meaning and kind but dumb when it comes to feelings and emotions, JUST LIKE FRED. THAT'S LITTERALLY FRED.
Meanwhile that doesn't seem to be Aaron. I am not as big of an Aaron hater as most of you, I blame the age gap on Jason, not Aaron. I really like what mcd Aaron had going on for him. And I find it ridiculous when people get upset at him for "stealing Aphmau away from Garroth (and Laurance)".
But you know what I am upset at? HE STOLE BEING THE FRED FROM GARROTH.
I swear Jess just made Fred Aaron because he is the conventionally attractive male lead. (Meanwhile Garroth is FAR more conventionally attractive then Aaron bffr)
And instead Garroth is SCOOBY. Garroth is the DOG. WHY? And before you say "because Zane was Scrappy". THAT WAS EVEN WORSE. Everyone hates Scrappy! Zane does NOT deserve that slander. Free the guy, all he did was being emo.
This actually perfectly illustrates how Garroth and Zane aren't taken seriously by the other characters. ESPECIALLY ZANE! By the narrative and the other characters, they're(especially Zane) not taken seriously. Like how it's laughed at the very idea of Zane getting a lover. And in minigames, we see things like people laughing at the idea of shipping Garroth with anyone. Because Garroth is obviously too stupid to feel serious love/s. And Zane is obviously to undesirable to ever be loved by anyone/s. Garroth is the good dog, Zane is the bad dog.
I do not CARE how cool that comparison is though. GARROTH SHOULD HAVE BEEN FRED.
Also, Aphmau?? As Velma?? Really? I mean, fine, but it doesn't fit with how Aphmau is (sadly) infantalised in canon. And she is never really shown to be book smart at all. She is shown to struggle in school. Sure, she is shown to have more sense than Garroth, Laurance, Dante, and Travis (which isn't very hard). And sure, this was all before Kim was introduced, and it was when Emmalyn wasn't relevant anymore. However, I don't care, and I still believed it should've been Emmalyn. Maybe the orange would clash, though,,,, maybe Kenmur? I don't know, I just think it should've probably been someone else.
Also, WHERE WAS DAPHNE AT? Why did Lucinda only show up FOR ONE SECOND? They included Scrappy but not Daphne????!! I know Daphne is often portrayed as a little boring, but this is an outrage.
I think Shaggy should've been someone else, too. Laurance doesn't seem like much of a coward. If I were to imagine Garroth, Laurance, Dante, and Travis in a horror movie. And you asked me who would survive, I'd say Laurance. Laurance is either the final girl or a part of the couple that makes out and gets killed while doing that.
It's actually lowkey insane he was Pony assigned Rainbow dash but then assigned SHAGGY from all the scooby doo characters. The only thing consistent between those two is that they both probably smell and don't wash themselves enough.

Twst reasons to overblots & design rating !
Tw : SUBJECTIVE OPINION
Reasons to overblots :
1- Malleus
You mean to tell me that an almost immortal being is getting hate bcs he's loosing the closest thing he had to a friend and a father knowing that that'll happen to everyone he knows and can't take it like a mature adult ? When faes are canonically minors under the age of 200 and he's 178 and clearly struggling with his emotions since he was raised in loneliness ? Lmao. Okay. (I have to keep it short or I'll do a full Malleus analysis and no one wants that).
2 - Vil
I CANNOT put into words how much realism he was made with, and I could FEEL it through his overblot. Overblotting because no matter how HARD you try you'll always be second ? Because people will always prefer the other option because you're SO hard on yourself that you legit seems overworldly to others and it makes them feel intimidated ? Vil better than me I would've overblotted SO MUCH more in his shoes. And him being disgusted with his own actions because HE KNOWS THAT THIS ISN'T HOW HE SHOULD ACHIEVE GREATNESS OH I'M SICK. And the aftermath when Rook voted for the other team ? While I understand that it was logical and I don't blame him for that, it legit hurt me, so can you imagine Vil ? He literally almost fainted, and that's a tame reaction if you ask me. Vil overblot was perfect.
3 - Riddle
No need to elaborate I think. His overblot hit too close to home and I IMMEDIATELY loved him. Also while I love Ace he kinda deserved to be punished for the tart tbh. Like just don't steal what's not yours ? Use your brain ? Riddle punishing him was EXTREMELY reasonable, even more so when you know that he LOVES strawberry tarts, and Ace refuting that AND coming after his position when he could have just APOLOGIZED, is def one of the reason I wasn't fan of him for MONTHS. Not surprised that Riddle got very mad at him (I def would have too).
4 - Leona
Now his reason was very similar to Vil, but the reason I liked it less (doesn't mean that I disliked it) is because he knew he would be second from his birth, that nothing he could ever do would change that while Vil has the possibility to become first, and he's yet unable to do it and I find that even more tragic. Leona was literally doomed from the start and yet he still tried his best for years only for the people he would have been a king to if the successor was based on skills alone to be the one hating him ? Kill me. It caused him depression and ruined his life, so much that he gets held back on purpose to not go home ? Killed me even more. He deserved so much and he got so little hiahdqirongbzkzhzo.
5 - Idia
Listen, I understand the pain of loosing a brother, I lost one of mine, but never in my 20 years of life would I have ever thought of building an IA OF HIM ?? He kinda went crazy with this one. I wished we had gotten his parents' reaction to robot Ortho tbh. Him being unable to move on from Ortho was so good, especially when we know that he blames himself for his death, and getting CORRUPTED by og Ortho is perfect. I don't have a lot more to say, sorry.
6 - Azul - starting from here, there's a huge gap between the classements. The 5 firsts were TIGHT together.
He's an achiever who lost the empire he built, I get it. But like, just build it again. Stop crying and rolling on the floor, and get up and act like a man. Of course, I know he's still a minor too, so I understand why he reacts like that, but Idk. I didn't feel as attached to his overblot as the others, which I'm kinda sad about since I REALLY like him, he's just so enjoyable.
7 - Last and least, the bitch himself, Jamil
Could have prevented the overblot if he learnt what communication was and I'll stand by that. Tried to kill Kalim because he couldn't take his anger on their parents, the yk, lmactual reasons why he felt like this in the first place. And he held Yuu captive too. He has no excuses.
Design :
1 - Riddle
PERFECT. LITERALLY UNMATCHED. The cards, the dress, the makeup, the eye color change, everything was PERFECT !
2 - Vil
I didn't know I needed nun Vil before but I do now wtf. He made me think of Mary so much it's insane I was in shock. The spikes were GOOD.
3 - Jamil
Since this on design alone, this is the only time he'll ever be in one of my top 3. The color scheme was on point and the snake design was VERY fitting.
4 - Azul
It was GOOD. And since it gave us Azul in merform it's đ§ââď¸đ§ââď¸. The color was fitting once again and he just overall looked good.
5 - Malleus
I'll never say it enough but NEON GREEN IS SUCH A BAD CHOICE FOR DIASOMNIA LORD ! Forest green would fit them all MUCH better, and it's proved once again by his overblot design. The purple is good, but the green is such a thrown off dude... I also didn't particularly like the hair choice but I did like the tail. The rest of the design is just not very special.
6 - Leona (he's fighting with Idia for the last place)
The hair... the hair was not it. (I did like how it kinda matched Cater's (especially when you consider that Cater had called him sweatheart minutes before... my Leokei shipper sense is in action...)). The rest of the design was just meh.
7 - Idia
I'M SORRY BUT THAT WAS JUST HIDEOUS WTF. Idia with short hair is my nightmare dude.
#unpopular opinions I think#âb-b-but you mischaracterize Jamil đĽş!â I donât care I hate him ! Hope this helps đ#twisted wonderland#overblots

|| PARTNER SEARCH 9/19/24 ||
Intro âŻ| Hi hello, if youâre looking to give the icon a name, I go by Jude. I am 28 years old and live in the Midwest (CST) I would say that Iâm a fairly laid back writing partner with a wide arrange of interests. However, if youâre looking for someone to write slice of life, cheerleader and bad boy, fluff or purely smut I may not fall exactly into that category. However, I have been writing for well over 14 years (YIKES) and love diving into new and expansive stories!
Content I enjoy/prefer ⯠| I feel as though it is important to put the content I prefer above writing preferences just so it is clear, and I don't waste anyone's time ⥠I will always, always, always prefer writing dark content above anything else. This means mature themes such as addictions, crime, toxic relationships, gangs, apocalyptic, dystopian, angst and drama will always come first. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean I don't write anything other than that. I've written and enjoyed celebrity and small town plots before but preferred them if they involved some of the themes I have listed above (I almost never deny them! )
I have almost no major triggers but would prefer to discuss any you may have as to respect those boundaries ⥠As for smut, I would prefer it not to be the main focus of our stories. It can be involved, just not majorly. I do primarily f x m and f x f. Every day, I am gaining new inspiration for characters through various types of media. Click this link here to see my navigation that leads to all sorts of helpful information!
What I enjoy in a writing partner ⯠|
I would say that my writing style could be defined as strictly literate. Which means when I send a reply, it should be expected that I will send multiple paragraphs in response. This doesn't necessarily mean that I expect the same in return, either! I would much rather have quality over quantity as long as we are both having fun and enjoying ourselves âĄÂ Nothing makes me happier than world building as well!~ If world building is ever an option, I always much prefer it! I believe that the more characters are involved, the more chances there are for character development and various obstacles to create. Not only that, but I think always having extra characters to stir the pot makes things SO interesting. I also prefer not be the one to only write the male roles and prefer if youâre upfront and honest when it comes to playing male roles. Please do not be open to doubling if it's just a means to getting a ship that youâve been wanting. I will more than likely notice. That means not favoring and only responding to roles where I play a male, and neglecting the roles where I play a female. Keep it fair. Partners also must be 21+ and understand that replies will not always be quick and fast. I often work, and I am working on my personal art business which means I may be online and responding when it comes to just having fun and chatting, plotting, head-canoning and sending ideas -- but I could be working on art on the side as well! Nothing makes me happier than having a partner where we both respect when each other is busy or when we are taking a moment for either personal reasons or mental health. I also prefer to use real face claims as opposed to drawings/anime/etc.  Helpful info ⯠| If you have any triggers, anything that is off limits, anything that makes you uncomfortable, PLEASE do not feel shy to let me know ahead of time. Even during, before, or after a reply. DO NOT HESITATE. It does not matter at all the time, what matters to me is your comfort and your boundaries. I will not be upset, and I will completely understand. As for my triggers and my boundaries, I do not do any plots involving minors, massive age gaps, incest, bathroom kinks, or vore . If you are hoping for a major choice to be made, please feel free to do it if you feel this would add to the story â HOWEVER, if it involves something extreme being said or done to my character, I would prefer this to be discussed with me beforehand. Thank you! I look forward to writing and making some cool stuff with you <3
Feel free to like this post or DM me and I will get back to you! âĄ

Wait why are you not a fan of Snape and Hermione?? 2 nerds who care a socially awkward amount about the things they care about nerding out together at levels of romance people who can be chill and normal about things canât comprehend?? Itâs not one of my fav ships but I can definitely see it!
I headcanon that Snape picks on Hermione being a muggle raised know it all thirsty to prove and lacking self awareness because he was one himself when he arrived at school and James and Sirius picked on him for it! Itâs like that youâre most repulsed by the things youâre self conscious of in yourself thing to me. Or maybe a him trying to live out being the âcoolâ one in that dynamic thing
But when sheâs a grown woman and more self possessed like he became too I feel like that same energy ness has potential for love!
Hermione is famously respectful and compassionate enough towards all beings to be more understanding than say Lily Evans of his prickly tender ego if he had another m word style outburst and such a people pleaser sheâd keep coming back for more snark as long as he peppered it with the odd encouraging compliment
And I feel like a Snape in reciprocated love could absolutely veer into inventing beautiful and helpful spells to impress his lover or sending âmade me think of u đâ notes with verses of elaborate obscure poetry territory that would be frankly the level of literary and academic courtship our Herms deserves đ
Is it cause theyâd both be the highly strung worrier one and they both need someone to ground them? Or maybe too pessimistic together and one of them needs to be the cheerful one?
anon, i genuinely love this for you - i'm always thrilled to get people explaining their love for ships in the ol' inbox, especially when they're ships i don't instinctively vibe with, and i have been won round to stranger premises than this by a passionate defence of why two characters should kiss.
where i still think snamione isn't clicking for me, however, is that the way you describe both snape and hermione here doesn't align in any significant way with what i personally think would be interesting to explore about either character in a relationship and have them still feel meaningfully like their canon selves.
[i will say, though - because i always think it's worth reiterating my fandom commitment towards being neither a cop nor a priest - that i literally don't give a shit about either the age gap or the student-teacher dynamic. i know that's an objection to pairings like snarry and snamione which lots of people do express. but i will never be one of them.]
the primary reason that i don't vibe with many of the more... sapiosexual hermione ships [by which i mean not only snamione but tomione] is that they hang on the idea that hermione's intellect expresses itself in a way we never actually see in canon.
or, the idea that snape and hermione are intellectually compatible [and that they would enjoy hanging out being nerdy about stuff] is just... not true.
throughout the seven-book canon, the way that hermione shows herself to be clever is that she displays an excellent memory and an enormous capacity to rote-learn. her intelligence is overwhelmingly demonstrated - both in the classroom and during the trio's year on the run - by her being able to regurgitate swathes of information, very usually verbatim from the source she got it from.
she is clearly able to use this ability to retain information to understand the theoretical component of magic in a way neither harry nor ron ever manage, and she is able to use this understanding of theory to work out how to perform spells which are ahead of her expected level on the hogwarts curriculum.
and this is intelligence - and i want to be very clear that i'm not trying to suggest that hermione shouldn't be thought of as intellectual, or that her academic achievements should be devalued. but it isn't the way snape's intelligence manifests itself.
because hermione is never shown - at any point in canon - to be a particularly creative or experimental thinker.
she places an enormous intellectual trust in disciplinary authority - teachers and textbooks - and is frequently rattled when these are revealed to be partial or incorrect, as we see in her shock at hogwarts: a history not mentioning house elves or her anger at harry getting better results by following the modified instructions in the prince's textbook [despite knowing nothing about the theory underpinning them] than she does with the "official" ones.
she also regards the gatekeeping of inquiry which disciplinary boundaries enforce to be a positive thing and she never displays any inclination to step beyond them. she dislikes the spells in the prince's textbook because they aren't ministry-approved - and i must say that i think the idea that she'd be won over by a man creating spells for her is wishful thinking...
she is immediately mistrustful of anything she can't find something she regards as an empirical source for - notice, for example, that she only comes round to the idea that prophecies might be real once she encounters them in the ministry of magic.
even when we see her using magic on her own terms - the jinx she uses on marietta edgecombe, for example; or the protean charm on the da coins - the magic she's using is sophisticated, and is being applied in a way which wouldn't be classroom-sanctioned, but it's not magic which is being used in a way which is removed from the spell's original purpose. the protean charm on the da coins is impressive because it's a flawless execution of newt-level magic by a sixteen-year-old. it's not impressive because hermione is using it in a strange, experimental, or radical way.
[in contrast, the dark mark - which harry notes the coins mimic - is clearly a spell voldemort himself invents.]
snape, on the other hand, is an experimenter. he's someone who clearly sees magic as a creative force which he has every right to shape as he sees fit by adaptation and invention. and he's someone who evidently rejects the logic of disciplinary gatekeeping - one tension in his relationship with dumbledore prior to half-blood prince is that snape evidently retains an enormous intellectual interest in the dark arts [which, as he tells us, are an area of magic which is feared precisely because they can't be neatly contained within disciplinary boxes - they are ever-changing, unfixed, mutating...]
and it's these conflicting views of what magic is and how it should be used and thought about which is the cause of the intellectual incompatibility we see between snape and hermione in canon.
he is unequivocally in the wrong for his dismissive classroom manner towards her - because he is an adult and she is a child. but he isn't wrong in principle that hermione just repeating what she's read in the textbook and refusing to synthesise her knowledge [she always goes massively over word limits! she never gives answers in class in her own words!] isn't actually a demonstration that she understands the material. [and therefore something a good teacher would guide her through conquering... snape having no interest in doing this is his own fault.]
and - from a snamione-specific perspective - it's all the evidence snape needs that, actually, they're not going to enjoy hanging out chatting about academic pursuits. hermione values knowledge like a dragon hoards treasure. snape wants to take that treasure, melt it down, and turn it into new and weird things.
once again, i don't think this a flaw in either of their characters - it's just something which is. and i don't think it's an insurmountable obstacle to writing snamione, because i believe any ship is possible if an author has enough nerve. but it's an aspect of both characters' canon personalities [and hermione's above all] which never seems to make it into snamione fics - all of which, as far as i've encountered them, are beholden to an idea of hermione's approach to academia which is considerably more flexible than we actually see in the books.
of your other points, i'm not particularly convinced by the idea that snape sees his younger self in the teenage hermione. this isn't just for the reasons outlined above - hermione isn't trying to prove herself in the same way he was, which was by creating and experimenting in a bid to be noticed and considered impressive - but also because of the massive gulf in their respective class backgrounds.
hermione is really posh - and, while she's obviously subjected to discrimination at hogwarts on account of her blood-status, she also comes from a family with both the financial resources and the cultural language to make her familiar with the vibe of the elite muggle boarding schools hogwarts is a pastiche of.
the teen snape - in contrast - stands out from his cohort in that he is visually identifiable as working-class [which does appear to be genuinely unusual at hogwarts]. his class background is something which clearly drove a lot of the marauders' bullying of him [i'm sorry to the girlies who think james and sirius targeted him out of some righteous desire to stamp out his prejudice - it was because he was poor and uncouth] and which he still has a chip on his shoulder about as an adult.
this - again - is not an insurmountable barrier to a snamione relationship [as it's not a barrier to thousands of real-world partnerships and friendships]. but it is something an author needs to grapple with if they want to make the pairing - at least, in my opinion - seem plausible. but the standard vibe seems to be that snape would be comfortable in the grangers' home fairly quickly, and that he'd be delighted to have hermione swanning around offering suggestions for how they could do up spinner's end... instead of him resenting this as the unwelcome meddling of people who've never had to worry for money.
i'm also not particularly convinced by the idea that hermione would get over being called a mudblood - especially by an adult man. while i think it's completely plausible that she'd handle this differently than lily [although lily's reaction is entirely justified - and i don't think we should throw the baby out with the bathwater of contextualising the teenage snape and the motivating factors behind his decisions by pretending that cutting off your friend because he called you a slur is a petty, ill-thought-out, or unreasonable move], i don't think that her reaction would be automatically forgiving.
hermione is compassionate towards kreacher when he calls her a mudblood because kreacher is a slave, whose prejudicial views are inextricably bound up in the magic used to oppress him [i.e. that if he received an order to use the term, or to refuse to serve a muggleborn food, from his masters, he would have to punish himself violently if he disobeyed it]. she is not - quite rightly! - compassionate towards someone like draco malfoy when he calls her one, since he is a free person with full agency to choose not to do this.
could she forgive him - or snape - for using the term? sure! absolutely! but i don't think it's a given - and i also think she'd expect a demonstration of how sorry snape was which wouldn't necessarily align with how he'd think he'd demonstrated his regret.
i do agree that - as you say - hermione is a people-pleaser, and she definitely has a far greater tolerance for being treated cruelly by people she wants to impress [especially authority figures - including snape himself] than either harry or ron. and i think this has the potential to introduce an extremely thorny dynamic into a snamione fic - in which the power dynamic inherent in the age gap [which, to reiterate, i think is completely fine for an author to enjoy] is compounded by hermione being unwilling to anger or contradict snape [which is a vibe - as i've said in answer to an ask about harmony - we also see in her relationship with harry... it's also obviously exactly how snape's relationship with dumbledore works.]
on a couple of the more minor characterisation notes, i'm afraid that the idea of snape as a great romantic has never hit for me. it seems really bound up in the way alan rickman portrayed him in the films, which i've always found a bit toothless. i also don't like the trope of "actually snape's really hot" which seems to always accompany it - ugly, odd men to get to bone too!
[what he would be - i think - is a magpie. get ready to be handed odd stones and bits of leaves on dates.]
i also think they're highly-strung in ways which differ enough to mean they'd just annoy each other. hermione is highly-strung in that she flusters easily and is very poor under pressure, but she's actually pretty emotionally stable [and i'd dispute that she's a pessimist - this is a girl who thinks that she's successfully eradicating slavery at hogwarts by knitting hats; she's pretty robust, funny, cheerful, and idealistic]. snape is highly-strung in that he has a hair-trigger temper and is very emotionally volatile, but he's obviously an extraordinarily good liar, very quick on his feet, and very good under pressure. he'd think she panicked too much [and over insignificant things he didn't care about], she'd think he tanked the vibe of a date by taking offence at someone breathing too loudly.
where are they similar? well, they have a shared self-serving streak [hermione is appalled by behaviour from harry and ron she considers perfectly moral when she does it]; capacity for cruelty; tendency towards secrecy; tendency towards pettiness and pleasure in the misfortune of others; loathing of flying a broom; cutting sense of humour; stubbornness; resilience; clear dislike of slumming it in nature; love of puzzles; and a weakness for red hair.
i think you could make it work on the grounds that they'd probably have the time of their lives being haters together - especially, i feel, about rita skeeter.
and - y'know - because love is weird.

Here's another rant for you, Kiriko isn't a poorly written character or contradictory or unnecessary, people just generally don't understand the meaning of her lore.
The Age Gap
First thing I want to address is the age thing, more specifically people saying that it doesn't make sense that Kiriko and Genji could be close with Genji being 35 and Kiriko being in her early 20s.
As someone who has their dynamic with my cousins who I have the same kind of age gap, I (obviously) find this incorrect.
I've seen people act as though Genji took her to parties and stuff, but realistically, they most likely only interacted while Genji was at the Shimada house or while training. Also its been shown that both Genji and Kiriko didn't have personal connections outside of they're families or the clan until after the Shimada clan fell. So of course they would be close, they literally only had each other.
Not only that but as I'm writing this I'm reading the Yokai short story and on the first page it is shown that the Shimada brothers obviously treated her like a younger cousin/sibling.
That and her young age is actually a big part of her story, growing up being a main theme in her cinematic, and her age actually influencing a lot of her views. Which I will get into later.
Her Personality
I've seen people say that Kiriko's personality in game contradicts what we were shown in her cinematic. The thing people forget is that the ideviduals she interacts with are people she is close to, her mum and her neighbours which she either learned sign language for or she was just generally close to.
This is important to recognise because she doesn't know most of the cast of Overwatch. So of course she's not going to treat them the same way that she treats people she considers family.
Not only that but Overwatch specially did nothing to help with the power vacuum they created. They are literally the reason the Hashimoto have so much control now, of course she's not going to be overtly nice to its members.
Not only that but the three members of Yokai that we know are stated to be younger then Kiriko, teenagers. She's leader and she needs to act like it because if she doesn't, kids could die.
I think this is most shown in her interaction with Ana;
Ana:Â You remind me of myself when I was younger.
Kiriko:Â That a compliment?
Ana:Â You be the judge.
Kiriko:Â Okay, thanks for the compliment.
Her Interactions and Relationships
"I won't say the Shimada were perfect, especially at the end..." - Kiriko, Yokai short story
I've seen people say that Kiriko defends the Shimada clan while also being "too hostile" towards Hanzo. The line above disproves the first claim, Kiriko just sees the Shimadas as the lesser evil of the "Shimada vs Hashimoto". Not only that but the whole being "too hostile" with Hanzo thing can be justified by one thing, canonically Kiriko doesn't know the finer details on what happened to Genji.
The most she could know is that Hanzo killed Genji, that's it. And we don't even know if she knows that, all she could know would be that Genji is dead and Hanzo skipped town.
Not only that but because she doesn't know the finer details she most likely believes that Hanzo abandoned her family and Kanesaka, either for no reason or he abandoned the post he killed his own brother for.
I hate how people act like everyone would be fine with Hanzo, like, Kiriko has a right to be mad at him and be openly hostile.
As for her other interactions I do think that some are brought down by poor line delivery, that's it.
But as I mentioned before, Kiriko has no reason to be nice to an organisation who didn't help fix a problem they caused.
Her Role in the Story
I believe Kiriko was introduced in order to cause conflict in the Shimada storyline, because I'm tired of people believing that Hanzo's redemption would be an easy road. Realistically Kiriko, Angela and Cassidy, along with other Overwatch agents, would at the very least not trust him and at most despise him.
Just because Genji has forgiven Hanzo doesn't mean his actions still didn't have consequences and I think Kiriko will be an example of that.
I also think that she will be a driving point for both Ana and Cassidy's opinion that sometimes Overwatch did more harm then good.
Essentially I think her character is going to be a driving point for other characters until she gets her own arc, maybe in a mini/separate story campaign.
(I honestly love the idea of her getting an anime)
Her Voice (this is more of a theory/headcannon)
Personally I think her having an American accent is a result of her having to go into hiding after the Shimada clan fell. I believe she had to learn how to do an American accent so the Hashimoto wouldn't hurt her. Because they didn't really seem to know Kiriko in the cinematic and her having an American accent would throw people off of gaining the suspicion she was related to the Shimadas or her mother in any way.
It a reasonable assumption considering the Hashimoto literally kidnapped her dad and is forcing her mum to work for them.

i really do not get all the hatred sonamy fans get in the sonic fandom.
"but they're so toxic!!"
so are all other ship fandoms. i've had experience with toxic shippers of other ships. but you wonât see me generalizing the ship's fandom over them. every ship has its fair share of toxic fans. so why is it that only sonamy fans get all the heat for being toxic? i'm not denying that there are bad eggs in our fandom but i don't think its fair yo act like we're a special breed of toxic. i've seen fans of other ships with r*pe on amy yet people don't use them to generalize the whole ship's fandom.
"they think their ship is canon!!"
in the 2000s-2010s, maybe we did have a lot of fans who thoight that way. but nowadays whenever sonamy fans claim its canon, its always done in a joking way. its what fans lf literally every other ship do. i've seen people jokingly say "x ship is canon" because character a looked at character b funny. but no one ever attacks them for it. so why is it that only we get attacked when a lot of the time we aren't even serious?? we KNOW our ship will never actually be canon. we KNOW sega has no intention of changing their dynamic as of now. we're just having fun with the moments we're given. especially in recent media. why do y'all froth at the mouth over that. don't like it? just ignore and block.
and to be honest? as sonamy is now, it can be considered semi canon. like, give me a platonic explanation of the "amy, i should've made up my mind sooner" line in frontiers. IF sega decides to make them a couple, their dynamic still won't change. it'll still be very subtle except they're actually a couple now and you won't even notice it. and even then no one's stopping you from liking other ships. and if they are, well the block button exists for a reason.
"but the fanfics-"
i have my beef with old sonamy fanfics. but i have a feeling the people who made them were young kids and teenagers. i'll bet a lot of them have grown up now and have better things to do in life. now i hardly see any sonamy fanfic that villainizes sally or makes sonic an asshole for the sake of angst. the more extreme shippers from the 2000s-early 2010s should not be used to judge shippers today.
imagine if i used the sonadow shippers i encountered in 2014 deviantart, who were mostly allocishet girls who shipped them because they fetishized gay men, made both of them extremely ooc (anyone remember the terms seme and uke?), and of course hated amy for getting in the way of their ship, to judge the sonadow shippers of today who are now mostly mellow and enjoy their ship in peace, it wouldn't be fair now would it?
"the age gap is problematic!!"
most of the ages in sonic make no sense! there's a line in sonic forces where infinite claims sonic has defeated eggman for decades, and sonic's only supposed to be 15. granted using sonic forces may not be the best example but it shows how little sega cares about the ages. and now they've even been renoved from sonic channel. AND even ian flynn himself has said not to worry about pairings like sonamy and knuxouge because there's nothing wrong with them.
and i KNOW people are gonna take this to mean "so shipping things like s0nt@ils is okay now??" no, because tails is still coded as a little kid. sonic and most of the cast are coded as teenagers.
there's people who ship tails and fiona, and that's an actual toxic ship with an actual problematic age gap. but they don't get half the heat that sonamy shippers get.
"sonamy is a ship for the cishets"
really now? i guess my lgbt cars has expired guys. maybe that's a good thing because i was born and raised in a country where its illegal to be lgbt and my parents are kinda religious. and even the country where i'm originally from is pretty homophobic despite gay marriage being decriminalized. who knew all it took to solve those problems was to ship sonamy?? thanks guys.
do you see how stupid that logic is? a fucking ship doesn't determine your sexuality. i don't want to kiss women any less because i ship sonamy.

Pride and Prejudice, Shipping Gone Wrong
Alright little side thing after my last reblog that I think is important to talk about
I ended that last post by saying I don't think ppl who ship queer ships are better than those who stick to canon, and even said some were monsters that shouldn't be allowed to vote and I'mma get into that. Let me break it down for you.
Okay jokes aside, this is actually a very serious issue that does not get addressed the way it needs to.
The way you ship says a lot more about you than you think. It can highlight some prejudices you may not realize you have and there's layers to this shit too. (side note: I will be using examples. If your favorite ship is mentioned, it's not an attack on you or that ship as a whole, I'm talking specifically about how people engage with these things. Don't think I'm trying to police you, and if you're truly offended maybe you should be. Do some thinking)
IS IT LEGAL?
If you ship children and adults together or promote canonically abusive relationships, you're automatically weird. We don't need to look any deeper into that, you said all that needs to be said about you.
Morally Dubious Ships
Now, this one is a little more subjective and there's more forgiveness to be had here. Sometimes people don't realize a ship is kind of problematic. Sometimes that's a writing issue. Like you ever look back at a show or movie you watched as a child and go "oh my god how the fuck were these the heroes"? It really could be that and I'm not gonna judge you for interpreting something the way the writers wanted you to. Sometimes relationships that are abusive or just unhealthy are portrayed as something to strive for.
Sometimes it's not a writing issue and more of a "where do you draw the line" kind of issue. For example, take Otayuri. It's the pairing of Otabek Altin, who's 18, and Yuri Plisetsky, who's 15 going on 16 around the time that they meet. Now, if someone my age (I'm turning 18 in a month) said they had a 15 year old partner I would definitely have some questions, but I'd need more context before outright saying "oh ur a creep". The age gap isn't the issue, if you're mad over three year age gaps you need to get off the internet and go outside. It's more about where they are in life. The reason a senior in hs dating a freshman is strange is because the freshman is fresh out of middle school, and the other is literally about to go to college. Those are two wildly different worlds developmentally. My personal opinion on Otayuri is that since they've known each other for a while, they both seem to be equal mentally, and the way in which their relationship grows is not predatory in nature, I don't see a problem with it.
But that's just my way of viewing this ship. Other people might think those ages are unacceptable no matter what. And that's great for them. The bottom line here is that it's up in the air. You're not wrong or right for thinking any sort of way about the morality of it. No one gets hurt by the existence of this ship.
Bakudeku is a little harder to argue for. Right off the bat, shipping a bully and their victim together is kind of crazy. Like if you told me you were a Bakudeku shipper from SEASON 1, I would run away as fast as humanly possible because dawg, WHAT THE FUCK??? A relationship where one party doesn't even respect the other as a human being does not work and should not be promoted. In my eyes, the only way this could happen is with a lot of character development on both ends and with Bakugo apologizing at some point. That could actually be very interesting, it's great when fanfic or comic writers do that and do it well. When I was in the MHA fandom, I enjoyed the ship but it was by no means my favorite and the top reason is that the characters weren't in the right place for that to happen properly. If you think that's wrong, then again, more power to you. I have a lot of respect for people who can draw hard lines like that. Either way, it is very much up to debate as to whether or not this is okay, we're getting into "this may hurt somebody" territory.
But Sydney, what does this have to do with prejudice?
Most ships are inherently harmless. People are just having fun. Sometimes amazing content comes out of that, but other times... it's not that cute.
I'm gonna go back to the MHA fandom for a bit, not to trash on y'all cuz there are by far worse fandoms but I have more personal experience there. I wanna avoid speaking on a fandom I've never been in. One of the most irritating things for me was the mischaracterization of a lot of the main characters in MHA. No, I don't think everything needs to be exactly canon and if they do anything out of character in your fan work, you're evil. There's a certain breed of mischaracterization just REEKS of stereotypes.
A thing I've noticed is that in a lot of fan work, especially ones that have more sexual content, the character that's the "bottom" or whatever other words you wanna use for that, is typically made to be more feminine, less muscular, and they lose a lot of their personality to be an "uwu innocent smol bean". The other one will be hypermasculine, be super protective and dominating even if in canon, they are none of those things. The twinkification usually happens to characters like Deku that are more emotional and treated as though they're weaker, but he is not the only one. That's happened to characters like Bakugo too. FUCKING. BAKUGO. THE MOST AGGRESSIVE MF IN THE DAMN ANIME. The second he gets put into that submissive role, it becomes his whole personality.
Are we starting to see the problem here gang?
People are taking these characters and altering them to fit into their idea of what a queer relationship "should" look like or what they think is the hottest kind of queer relationship. That is fetishization without a doubt. This shows me that you don't see gay people as people and refuse to.
This bleeds into another issue. One of racial fetishization. As a kpop fan, I've seen kpop ship art and fan fics. Now, whether or not shipping real people is okay or not is a conversation for another day. We're focusing on how these people are written/drawn. One of the interesting things I've seen is that people will sort of use idols as a vessel for another story. They're not necessarily writing about them but more so building off of their persona or how they're generally perceived. So "accurate" depictions aren't something you're gonna see. The most worrying depictions are ones like what I described previously. The difference is, it's indiscriminate. Idols have been written into both roles before, it just flip flops between whoever fans think is the least masculine. This is already weird as is, but consider that Asian men are often seen as "lesser men", more feminine, weak, etc. Consider that Asian women are seen as shy, innocent, submissive and things of that nature. These are the ideas on which these "uwu cinnamon roll" characters are built upon.
Now, you're probably thinking I'm reaching, but peep this. What if we move out of Asian-centric media? Does the same apply? YES. VERY MUCH SO. In fact it's MORE OBVIOUS THAN BEFORE.
One of the more popular queer ships in the Spiderverse fandom is Hobie x Pav. A black man and an Asian man (South Asian specifically but still very much Asian). Now, one would expect that a movie that has so much diversity and puts an emphasis on looking at people past appearances would create a fandom where all the characters are treated like people. WRONG!!!! Pav is constantly smol baby twinkified to death and Hobie is made to be meaner and more aggressive than he ever was in canon. Here's those silly little archetypes again!
And here's a reminder of the stereotypes around these races, just in case y'all forgot.
Asian men = not manly, unathletic
Black men = scary, dangerous, hypermasculine
Mind you, neither of these characters are any of these things in canon (I mean for fucks sake PAV BACKFLIPS OUT OF BED IN THE MORNING, HE IS IN NO WAY "WEAK"). And to deviate this much says only one thing. You don't actually see these characters and people like them as individuals. Your idealized version is literally awful fucking stereotypes that get people, especially black men, killed. Tell me again how you're not racist?
Headcanons (oh lord)
These homophobic/racist characterizations bleed into headcanons as well. They are in no way mutually exclusive. If you're drawing or writing a character a certain way, you probably have headcanons to match that. And a lot of you have shown your real selves this way.
For example, this has less to do with shipping and is moreso a general fandom issue, but ppl be headcanoning Miles as poor or that he steals spray paint. Bitch, what??? Miles has a cop for a dad and a nurse for a mom, that income is fucking insane. PLUS, he goes to a private school in one of the most expensive cities in the country. They go out of their way to emphasize this in ASTV, there's a whole scene about it. He is not poor. Miles G is, but not Morales. No sir.
So, if there's no evidence to say he's poor... and it's been explicitly stated that he's not... hmm... I wonder why people would think that?
Surprise! The answer is racism.
Same thing for the stealing headcanon. He fights the spot in a deli in ASTV and still asks how much his food will be. And if his uncle was in the graffiti scene already, why would he not supply Miles with spray paint? Y'all skipped through not only his actual characterization but all the possible, legal ways he could've gotten his hands on that and went straight to stealing.
But noooo, you can't be racist if you're a Spiderverse fan, right?
But let's bounce back to sexuality for a minute. Those headcanons directly affect the way someone ships a character. Sometimes your sexuality headcanons are not coming from a good place and y'all need to know that.
I actually had a conversation with my lesbian friend today. She said a friend of ours had told her "you're going to love One Piece, there's great lesbian representation.". Like she straight up fed her the idea that Nami was a lesbian. She even told her she had a girlfriend in one of the movies. Whether that's true or not, I don't know. I'm not a One Piece fan. She also told her that Nami hated men. I read the first four volumes of One Piece. Nami does NOT hate men. She's not as friendly to men around her because she hates pirates and has a very specific dynamic with her crewmates, who are mostly male. That's two different things. So, she was telling me that she felt really disappointed that the only thing that made this character a lesbian was the fact that she didn't have a love interest and "hated men". Now, from what I understand, there are some interactions she has with women that can be read that way, again, I'm not entirely sure since I don't watch that, but the fact that this other friend's main selling point to my friend who's actually a lesbian was that there was a mean lesbian main character that hated men is kinda crazy, don't you think? (Also, side note, things are kinda weird with the one piece friend rn, we're working that shit out. So if you're wondering why we're even friends I literally found this out today so yk).
Let's think about common stereotypes about lesbians. One of the big ones is that since they're not attracted to men, they must hate them or that they're gay because they hate men. Newsflash buddy, it's kind of hard to find a woman nowadays that doesn't hate men at least a little bit, gay or not. If that was a prerequisite for being a lesbian you'd probably see a hell of a lot less straight women. Another stereotype is that if a woman shows no interest in men, she must be a lesbian. Like, no, she could be ace, she could just not want a relationship in general. I even double checked to make sure she wasn't canonically confirmed to be one so I wasn't talking out of my ass. She could be bisexual, pansexual, literally whatever kind of sapphic but your mind jumps right to lesbians because you think she hates men and she's mean? Right...
But I'm not done here, let's get into one of the more common acts of stereotyping I've seen. My ace buddies, I am SO SORRY oh my god.
Every time there's a character who is nerdy, not as social, and doesn't explicitly show attraction to anyone, they get headcanoned as aromantic and asexual. I actually wanna applaud the One Piece fandom real quick because the amount of people who fuck with the Luffy is asexual headcanon is great. He's the exact opposite of the type of character that commonly gets headcanoned to be asexual. This is the kind of stuff I want to see. Headcanons based on things the character actually says and does and not stereotypes. Shout out to y'all, back to the ranting I guess.
One of the more annoying things I've noticed is that autistic coded characters are usually the most likely to be headcanoned as asexual. Now, if you know anything about how autistics are viewed in society you'd know people think we don't have sex, don't know what it is, all sorts of other shit. So to see that constantly, it really bothers me and I'm sure it bothers the aces out her as well. The idea that the only way you can exist is as a socially awkward "undatable" character must be really awful to see. It's either that, or they attach that label to characters that hate love or look down upon people who have romantic relationships. Or maybe you might get someone who thinks a character is too cute and innocent for sex and gives them that label. Again, more negative stereotypes.
But when there's actually an ace character and they don't fit people's idea of what an asexual looks or acts like, or if they're attracted to them, they just ignore that part of them and do whatever they want.
It's 3:30 in the morning, why are you still yapping about this?
First of all, I would like to thank everyone who made it this far. This is a very necessary conversation and I know it's gonna ruffle several feathers but in times like these it's important that we recognize how our hatred affects others.
But yeah, onto *why* this is important.
The post I reblogged and responded to was somebody comparing a certain type of canon shippers to Trump supporters. I explained why they weren't right but not exactly wrong either. There's a direct correlation between the way they thought about shipping and the rhetoric of the right. Remember, the same people fetishizing others and disguising stereotypes as headcanons and creative liberties were right next to you in the voting booth deciding whether or not you should have rights.
The truth is, this election showed us that we truly cannot trust each other as much as we thought we could. The people we thought were our allies sold us for their own validation or to make their groceries cost less (which won't even happen btw but I digress). The people who were holding our rights over our heads were busy taking that from others in other countries, and also just straight up murdering them (free Palestine y'all. And Congo. And Hawaii. And Sudan. And Haiti. There's a lot. Colonialism knows no bounds). And after the election? Poc were continuously excluded from the conversation even though we're the most affected on every front, and when we were brought up it was to tell ppl some of us voted against our own kind.
This post is to make y'all better allies. This post is to make you more conscious of the things you're saying and doing. This post is to remind you that art has power and you need to use it responsibly. It's here to show you that just because someone identifies the same way as you or is okay with the idea of your identity, does not mean they're on your side. And your vote does not absolve you of your own biases. You can still vote blue and be racist. You can still like media with a bunch of representation and still hate the groups of people in it.
And in a way, this post is kind of for me too. As a black queer person who's been in fandoms since they were 10, I've only become more frustrated. It's become such a hostile environment for minorities of all kinds and I'm tired. I needed to get this out somehow. Y'all can't keep getting away with this, you're ruining it for everybody in these fandoms and in the world.

I was going through your dark future tag (obsessed!!!!) and I was wondering what your vision is for Tamora being on Wyatt's side? I'm really curious! <3
yes okay so i'm realizing i don't think i've ever talked about this! so basically in the light timeline tamora mainly has her two defining traits in that she is a bit of a scaredy cat (especially in regards to her own powers) and she is a dreamer (but she really doesn't let herself dream, like, ever. literally haha now that i think of it at the point in TWW that we're in she's basically downing potion for a dreamless sleep like every night. but i think this is best exemplified by her being a business/econ major while kat is off on a gap year bc kat like i want to find myself and explore new things and tamora, while she has these dreams, simply doesn't find it realistic. that's why she picked such a practical major, something you could definitely get a job with, because - and this is also rooted in her anxiety - she doesn't want tot go out on a limb have it break underneath her and have it all come crashing to the ground. if you asked her "what is your dream major" or "what is your dream job" i don't know if she'd have an answer. like, there definitely is an answer and it's definitely not "business major" but she is kind of so severed / embarrassed by that dreamer part of herself that she doesn't know what the answer is.)
so anyway. a major difference we find in the dark future would a) be it's dark as hell in here lol. you know wyatt's kind of crazy and magic isn't doing well and the charmed ones are all in pretty bad emotional places. and then b) tamora and kat were raised with their powers. in canon as defined in the comics which i did elect to continue in my writings, the twins powers were bound bc tamora like lit the nursery on fire. because, even as a baby, she packed a punch, and those powers were dangerous, and this grants them the ability to live a normal life. however, in the dark future, okay, they were maybe bound for a couple years til the girls were like 5ish bc by then they can kind of comprehend stuff and things and then Also it's obvious they're not getting a normal life. so you might as well start training them bc there is a darkness brewing on the horizon.
so this is where we circle back to Tamora, Anxiety, & Dreams. TAD, if you will. she is still scared, and she is afraid of her powers and herself and the world and you know what her family lowkey isn't helping because they're basically saying yeah there's a lot to be scared of. so probably around a middle school age for her, she meets her cousin. her cousin everyone's warned her about. and she knows she should fight him but she can't bc quite frankly she is frazzled and scared and lord knows powers don't work super well when you're in that headspace. but wyatt is actually super nice, and he protects tamora, and he watches out for her. maybe he saved her from some school bullies or demons in a way where he did most of the damage but lets tamora commit the final blow (probably demons it would be excessive to kill middle school bullies but like. i mean not improbable? if we wanted to get really dark with it we could say it was actually some older person attempting to sexually assault tamora at age 12 or whatever and she does kill that person. i just think that that's um. very heavy and needs to be done with respect i kind of hate when media sprinkles in assault against women but never fully understands the ramifications that continue throughout life when that shit happens to you. like we could go with that it would be interesting i would just really want to put proper emphasis and more research towards that trauma. if we wanted to go a little lighter it could be because magic is already relatively exposed by this point? a witch hunter trying to kill tamora). Point Is. tamora does it. she (probably) kills that guy, using her power, with wyatt's guidance. and just for a moment, it's a taste of what she dreams of -- a world where she's not the one who's scared, she's the one who's powerful, she's the one who's in control
so i think that is was ultimately pulls her to wyatt's side, this promise of being someone who is not scared but who is fierce, who is confident, who is in control. and it feels good. it feels so good to be powerful and to be feared and not be such a shrinking violet not be the awkward kid who feels like she doesn't fit in but to take the knife and carve out the place yourself. this, obvi, fucks up her relationship to kat. the twin telepathy thing is definitely complicated and not great to have when you're on opposite sides of a war. i honestly wouldn't be surprised if kat tried to psychically argue tam back to their side and tam in fury did try to kill kat. and the thing with the twin telepathy (as i have established it) is when your brain chemistry is altered, you can't reach each other. this happens when one is over caffeinated, drunk, high, under the affects of a potion, etc. if it's modified in the same way (e.g. both took the same potion) then they can still communicate but maybe it's a little hazier. if someone is to say go on antidepressants or something, their brain chemistry is being altered, so they wouldn't be able to communicate. however, the way it works is they are always kind of spiritually reaching out to find each other, so, assuming they were to stay on the same dose and meds and keep this as their new "base chemistry", within a couple months the connection would reinstate itself.
This Is Why tamora, (who, on wyatt's side, renames herself paloma halliwell, taking both a "p" name and the established magical last name of the family (mitchell is not a respected magical last name, hell neither is matthews. but halliwell has been around for generations, so she takes it, separating herself from her mother's legacy and aligning herself with wyatt's concept of the warren line being the ultimate power)) is always taking some kind of potion or pill. she'll usually switch it up about every month of so, to keep her mind augmented and sealed off from kat. actually, on the rebellion side, i think whenever they have a psychic or anything of that nature, they do try to replicate whatever tam is on in order to gain access to her mind and maybe what the dark side is up to

I love the Percy Jackson series but almost every canon relationship is so shit (including percabeth) and I think there's like 2 I don't have issues with. If the relationship is well written then there are loads of issues and if it's badly written (like most of them are) there isn't an improvement.
This is specifically about the romantic ones but the platonic ones aren't much better, most of them are really underdeveloped or just ignored. And ofc the constant "they're best friends!" about two characters that never talk or act like they hate eachother, I might make a separate post about them.
So let's start with Calleo (Calypso and Leo) because they are arguably the worst.
At a base level, I never liked it bc it came out of nowhere and made no sense but like I've thought about it a lot and it's such a flawed pairing. There's the age gap, the dynamic and just the way they're treated as soulmates despite not knowing eachother at all
I've seen a bunch of people saying she was good for him because of how 'badly' his friends treated him but honestly she treated him a lot worse. Jokingly calling your friends annoying can be a bit mean when you overdo it but I don't think Leo was ever actually upset by it, most of his sadness was from trauma, his existing fears and the stress he was under with the prophecy. And if your argument is "Calypso was the nicest person to him" then remember Calypso also called him annoying, plus she yelled at him constantly and treated him worse than they did.
And getting a girlfriend would not be good for him considering his issues with self love. He did want a girlfriend but I don't think he should have got with someone, and in my opinion he especially should not have been with Calypso.
Leo could have been literally any guy for her. She's met thousands of men, she's fallen 'in love' with all of them (we know that because they can't leave unless she loves them) and then she's cursed them/their gfs when they leave (she cursed annabeth in tartarus). I think if Leo did get a girlfriend it should have been someone that actually liked him and not just liking what he could do for her.
Yeah Leo was the first guy to go back but he had to kill himself to see her and you should not need to destroy yourself for anyone, and definitely not someone you've known for like 3 days. Leo wanted to save her because he didn't think it was fair she was left there and took the time to help because he felt obligated and he felt bad for her. He was not the only person to try to help, just the only person that was physically able to.
I don't really like Calypso but I'm not saying she is the entire problem, she needed to be around other people. She needed to be free, she just wanted a boyfriend because that was the only option she felt she had. Calleo would not last very long realistically because I don't think either of them specifically wanted eachother.
And onto my biggest issue with this ship - Leo is 15 years old. Calypso is as old as the gods and should not be dating a teenager. In actual mythology (it's quite different but she's still based on and inspired by regular Calypso) Calypso forcibly kept Odysseus on her island for 7 years, raped him multiple times and forced him to have 2 kids with her. Ofc that was changed a lot and pjo Calypso isn't a rapist but why the fuck would Rick take that character and stick her with a 15 year old?
If she's old enough to spend 7 years with Odysseus and old enough to have met a thousand people she's way too old for Leo (like she is thousands of years old and is a daughter of atlas, it doesn't matter if she looks 16). Even if you want to argue that she gave up immortality, she gave it up when she had already been alive for a very very long time and like even if she wasn't immortal she'd be at least 18 because percy, two years before Leo met her said she looked 16 so a human Calypso is also an adult woman trying to date multiple 15 year olds.
They would have been great as friends but Rick was determined to get both of them paired up with anyone so it was the only solution he ever would've gone for.
Next up is frazel (Frank/Hazel) because again, age gap??
There should not be two characters dating minors in one book Rick, please do better.
So Frank is 16 and starts dating Hazel when she is 13. "Frank only just turned 16" yeah but 15 and 13 isn't much better, "Hazel is close to 14" okay but again, 14 and 16 is not okay either.
"it's only 2/3 years" that age gap in adults is totally fine and generally completely unimportant but these are teenagers and when your brain isn't fully developed an age gap of just a few years is pretty important. A three year age gap is the difference between a newborn who can't crawl or say a word and a three year old that can run around and talk almost full sentances. Adults with that gap are the same point in life, the same developmental stage but teens aren't. I'm around Franks age and every single 13 year old I've met has looked about 8 to me. Yesterday a 13 year old girl came into my part time job and started singing the beauty and the beast soundtrack because she saw a red rose and there was no point where I thought "yeah that's hot" because that's a little kid?
And Rick won't give that kid a break because there's also Lazel (Leo/Hazel)
The weird love triangle thing? Because she dated his great grandad?? It was so unnecessary and icky and I swear the only reason that it happened was that Rick didn't know how to flesh out their characters.
Leo hit on every single person without fail and then he reached Hazel who was essentially saying "I have a bf but we could be together if you act nicely"
And they both just kinda suck in every scene, Leo harasses her and then she leads him on (I hate saying that phrase but I do think that's what's happening here) and that just loops.
I just wish Hazel could be single yk? She's 13, she does not need to be in a relationship with anybody??
Next up Jasper/Jiper (Jason/Piper) because who actually likes them
So their relationship was never real in the first place, their memories were altered. But then Piper is so possessive over him and bitchy to anyone who wasn't Jason (like that scene where Percy got hurt and she was like "I feel bad for annabeth but I'm glad it was him and not Jason" wtf was that?)
Considering their entire relationship was a lie and Jason was essentially claimed as hers the second they met, I don't understand why they stayed together. I assumed they had "broke up" when they were at camp because like they didn't know eachother at all (not even an entire day, Jason had a few minutes with her) and weren't trying to talk it out. And then I read moa and literally thought I missed a book bc "why and when tf did they start dating"
They were written so badly and in my opinion they only ever brought out the worst in each other (Piper acting even more 'pick-me-girl-y' than normal and Jason just being far more confused and guilty than normal) because Jason did not know this girl and they never actually spoke about it.
I get why Piper was upset about everything, it is a really shitty situation and that would be real hard to deal with. But the possessiveness and bitchiness drove me crazy and I honestly thinks it's selfish to stay in that relationship.
In all of their ship moments it's just so tacky, you can see how desperate and pushy Piper is and how uncomfortable Jason is. It's like he pities her a lot of the time.
Y'all might be mad about this one but onto Percabeth (Percy/Annabeth)
They were a pretty great pair and in the original series I did like them but then hoo hit and they became fully codependent and so out of character. It was like they weren't Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase anymore, they were just Percabeth. They'd say the most ooc shit ever and then throw in a "seaweed brain" and everyone acted like it was sweet scene.
The way she'd just ask him for help every time she has an issue, the way he was so insistent on looking after her? Yeah the scene where Annabeth threw her knife into the water was cute but Annabeth Chase, the girl full of hubris, anger issues and fight training would never rely on Percy to fight her battles. It was like Rick forgot her personality and just went "yeah she's Percy's smart gf" as if she hadn't been training twice as long as he had
The original series and chalice of the gods had them both pretty in character but I think the love story aspect really took over their lives as soon as they got together.
I've noticed loads of Percabeth fans get really angry when people don't like them but I just think they were so much better as friends and I rlly don't get the hype.
I think both of them just really needed a good friend and I was pretty disappointed when I realized they liked eachother (I didn't realize until Annabeth got mad at Rachel) because I'd always just seen their relationship as platonic yk?
That's probably just me being dense and seeing it how I wanted it to be but I wish more pjo fans would stop acting as if they were the cutest ideal couple. Percabeth fans getting really angry at every other ship involving one of them? Hating Rachel just because she likes Percy? Its so unnecessary
It isn't a bad ship but it wasn't written very well and I think dating erased a lot of their personalities and lives.
Next up is Solangelo (Nico/Will)
So I love these two and I don't think there's much wrong with them but I do think it was very rushed.
If you haven't noticed by this point, I really think Rick put less effort into the characters in heroes of olympus, there were some great scenes and I love the series but a lot of the relationships were written so badly and it felt like he was trying to hard to push the romance, rather than the fantasy/adventure part that he seems a lot better at
I think almost every solangelo fic I've read had been better written, the only reason they were together is Rick's insistance of getting every teenager in a romantic relationship. They met, argued and killed a guy and then Will complimented him. And they were cute but the next we heard from them should've been their relationship growing and not just "that's my boyfriend"
Onto Piper and Shel
Edit: Tbh I think Nico was changed quite a bit to fit with Will? If you compare how he acts before and after meeting Will I think it's pretty different.
So these two felt the most forced out of everyone. It seems like Rick just didn't want Piper to be single, forgot she wasn't in the later books and had to think of something quickly. This is mostly about Piper because Shel is barely even a character, she's just there to show Piper 'moving on' and to show she likes girls.
I don't care that Piper likes girls, I do too, and I would've loved that if we actually got that storyline. But it's clearly forced diversity rather than actually planning her to be that way, and it doesn't feel natural at all. We go from her obsessively pining over Jason to her dumping him to her seemingly wanting him back and after all that I was expecting them to get back together or at least for them to spend some time single to move on but the next time we see Piper she's kissing her girlfriend?
I've seen a lot of people saying that's why she was so desperate to stay with Jason and that that's why their relationship seemed kinda fake but if you read her perspective it really doesn't seem like that's the case. I think calling her a lesbian takes away quite a bit of her personality (like can't she be bi? pan? something that stays accurate to the character??) because absolutely, lesbians can have relationships with men before they figure themselves out but that isn't what happened.
It seems like Piper wasn't over Jason at all and I think dating Shel was her way of trying to move on. (Because whatever chance she had with Jason is obviously gone, her rizz is strong but death is stronger) It's not like I want her to spend the rest of her life alone and sad, but I would've loved some character development that wasn't just shoving her out of the closet. She wasn't over Jason but then he died and she suddenly has a girlfriend? How long were they together??
Like I thought Piper was bi for a while but the way it was written seemed so much like a "her boyfriend left so she's gay now!" rather than the semi-closeted bi mess that she was probably meant to be.
Lastly Gruniper (Grover and Juniper)
The only relationship that isn't weirdly codependent and it's because Rick blatantly forgot about her. Grover liked someone else in chalice of the gods? He was fully ready to cheat on her throughout the book
And just? Why were they ever together?? The first time we meet juniper its through her being Grovers gf. Grover was super underdeveloped as a character, as a friend and as a boyfriend because characters that weren't in relationships got no development but Juniper was literally mentioned less than Rachel's parents. We don't know when where or why they got together, we don't know when they met we don't know ANYTHING about their relationship
#this is a really long post#spoiler alert btw. for hoo/toa and kinda pjo too#yeah a bunch of these are issues with Rick's writing but it affects my views on the actual relationship#ship whatever you want ofc but i wanted to rant about it#percy jackson and the heroes of olympus#percy jackson#ship discourse#for loads of them i just want a few paragraphs of interaction pre-canon yk?#because half of them came out of nowhere and the development never came#most of the adult relationships are pretty decent but thats mostly because we see them from an uninterested teen's perspective#and im willing to bet that if we got sally's pov paul's appearance would be annoying asf#i forgot most of the toa ships. like i dont remember half of the characters and plot in toa#i need to reread it bc i only remember piper jason will and nico's parts
