not to make it serious for a sec but i genuinely think that being able to like things that are bad is really important. like I think that it's an important skill to be able to look at something and see what you personally enjoy about it and then take a step back and acknowledge that objectively it's flawed. and to also be able to acknowledge that liking something isn't necessarily an identity or a moral stance. and i think that fandom space in general could really benefit from more people taking the time to learn how to do that. it's okay to like things that are bad

this may be an unpopular opinion but I don't want taylor to win album of the year for midnights. I have no doubt that she'll be the first person EVER to win album of the year four times, but I just don't think midnights is the album that deserves to break that record and, given the amount of success she has had this past year, if it does win it would just feel like the grammys are pandering to her popularity rather than her artistry.

the grammys seem to have this 3 album of the year win barrier that no artist, no matter the quality of their subsequent work, has been able to surpass, so when she does win album of the year for the fourth time, I want it to be because she writes an album so goddamn good that it FORCES them to award her it despite the barrier because it is undeniably the most deserving of the award, not because of sales numbers and popularity contests

c less than a year?! wow. unironically, can I ask for tips on how to make friends and mutuals on here? please? I feel like I've come onto here blind lol

yup i joined april 2023, just a few days post-joever. i think i really struggled with making mutuals initially but at the beginning, i just followed people who followed me (if they weren't like, awful people or bots), and kept being myself on my blog as much as possible. i know it's kind of a tired adage but people really do come on their own if you present yourself as who you really are. especially on tumblr, where the goal isn't really to curate a persona or "perfect" feed but to be as unfiltered and raw as possible. i just kept doing that, and following people who i found interesting to a) curate my experience and b) have quality posts to be able to reblog. basically just be active in the community. it takes some time but if you're active often enough and keep being yourself and following people, you can find connections and friends.

also, if you want to make friends with someone beyond reblogging/liking their posts or being in their replies, don't be afraid to DM them telling them you love their blog or want to be friends. i made most of my friends by just DMing them or vice versa. if it's the night before a show, asking about their surprise song picks is always a good conversation starter. (and then obviously be internet safe if you're a minor)

Least favorite thing about swifties is how many of you hear lines like “all they keep asking me is if I’m gonna be your bride / only kind of girl they see is a one night or a wife” and “storm coming / good husband, bad omen / Dragged my feet right down the aisle” and then continue to constantly speculate about whether she’s engaged, married, has matching rings with Joe, is going to leave music to start a family, even wants to have kids in the first place…. Like I don’t know how many more ways Taylor can tell you she hates these sorts of speculations and it is none of our business before you will start to understand!
