I'm sorry if your ask box isn't open I was wondering if you wouldn't mind like an angst with jason todd where the reader is like the complete opposite of like his ex's like she's chubby and isn't this Amazonian woman but so she feels like he is with her out of pity and a huge miscommunication is going on because she doesn't want to bother jason with these self conscious problems she is facing
A/N: This shall be my first attempt at Jason angst so I really hope it's decent!! It will be fluffy towards the end tho dw. Thank you sm for the request dude!! CW: Body-image insecurity, self-doubt, anxiety Masterlist

You always had a complicated relationship with your body. Never fitting into the right molds of beauty provided to you.
Only to grow older and realise that this would be the only body you had in this life - you should love all the parts that came with it. Parts that you would see mirrored in sculptures of gods and paintings of royalty. Why shouldn't you be proud of the fact that it was bodies like yours that were the templates for worship?
And then you saw your boyfriends ex. It was during one of your book-shop dates, he pointed her out before quickly walking to the next aisle thinking that you would be right behind him. Hating that his comfortable bubble with you had been suddenly popped by the presence of a dead love.
But you were stuck, your feet nailed to the floor, gazing at this pillar of a woman. And suddenly the blaring buzz of weight-loss adds and the 'concerns regarding your health' filled up your head. Making you hang your head to glare at your shoes. Jason appeared, looking concerned that you didn't fallow. He came and touched his hand to your back. 'You ok ma'?'
You nodded and tucked your hand back into his, with a cold pit of doubt forming in your stomach.
The next few weeks was a confusing fix of dread and doubt, for the both of you. You became distant, preparing yourself for the eventual confession from Jason that he only got with you because he felt bad. Brushing off his sweet touches and offers for you to spend the night. Resulting in Jason trying to chase after you in fear that his blunt arrogance was driving you away. He was confused, and when he got confused - he got angry. Something he felt an infinite amount of shame regarding because what if his capacity to be stuck in this loop of anger was the thing pushing you away.
You, the one stable thing he found that was able to drowned all of it out. You, he couldn't loose, not because of him.
Tumblr media
'Baby.. we- we need to talk' He said, standing from the couch as you tried to escape to the door. You had prepared yourself for these words. Preparing yourself for the stinging pain of loneliness that would fallow as he tells you that you guys should break up. 'Here.. let's just sit' He say's motioning to the couch. At least you would be near him just a bit longer. 'Listen... I know I'm a dick- and that I can be really difficult but.. but baby if I did or said something that's making you so distant.. you need to tell me'. He pleaded, taking your hand into his. This was not in the script you had conjured up in your head. He was supposed to tell you to pack up your stuff and leave. That he had gotten back together with Artemis, someone actually deserving of his praise and unconditional love. Someone who was actually pretty. 'What.. Jace- no.. you.. Wait what are you talking about?' 'I mean- you've been so distant and just off for like weeks now, and if it was something I did.. baby I'm so sorry' 'Your not..? never-mind..' You say, tucking your hands under your thighs. 'So.. did I do someth-' 'No! Gods Jason, no! You didn't do anything I just.. I mean I figured you.. I mean I.. UGh!' You stuttered, simmering in your own frustration. 'Its so stupid..' You mumble, the warmth of Jason's big palm rubbing over your tense back became the rope keeping you from the harsh pit of disappear you were about to be cast into. 'Baby, It is not stupid if it's got you like this. Please, just talk to me..' 'I.. like- I mean Jace, I'm not the prettiest of girls. I'm not skinny.. and I just.. I mean maybe you should be with some-' 'Don't even finish that' He said sternly, grabbing onto both of your shoulders. Making your glossy eyes meet his intense glare. He sighed, taking a moment to place his words in the right order in his head. 'If you think, for even a moment, I would ever fall out of love for you because of how you look- I'm going to throw you off of the balcony' 'Please don't' You giggled, the swell of tears building in the corners of your eyes. 'Is that was this is? You thinking you weren't good enough for me because of your body?' You nod, swiping the tears escaping down your cheeks with the back of your hand. Jason scoffed, seemingly in his own disbelief. He suddenly shifted from the couch to kneeling in front of you, taking both of your hands into his. 'So, not to sound like too much of a pig.. but baby, your body is one of the reasons I fell so hard for you. Your glorious.. every inch of you is perfect' He said. Your fingers reached our to cup his chin and jaw, those rich green eye's looking up at you so lovingly. 'No.. Jace I-' 'Yes. Yes you are. And if I ever start to say or think differently, you better fucking shoot me'. He chuckled, softly rubbing the sides of your thighs. 'But-' 'No'. 'I just-' 'Stop talking' He mumbled kissing your palm as your hand curled around his cheek. You felt whiplashed. This was so far from the expected outcome of this conversation. Weeks of starving yourself of his touch for a false premonition, all for it to end so suddenly. It was this quiet revilement of your doubts. As you looked back into Jasons sorrowful eyes, it was like a fire catching to greater heights as you remembered just why you fell for him. He stood suddenly and bent down to sweep you up from the couch and into his thick arms. Your hands immediately wrapping around his neck as he pressed soft kisses around your cheeks and nose. "Wa- Jay! What are you-?' 'I think.. you are in need of some lovin' tonight Miss L/N. To make up for all this distance.. you owe me that' He said, making his way to his bedroom as his lips traveled down the curve of your neck.

❤︎ | You just love teasing your best friend—even better now that he's frustrated and can only see you through a screen (2.1k wc) ╰ feat. narumi gen (kn8) x afab! reader

You and Narumi Gen go way back to your trainee days. Much to everyone's surprise, you two became quick friends—really good friends at that. I mean, who would've thought?
There's you—a fiery little thing, loves to poke fun and tease her friends. Then, there's Narumi Gen—bit of an oddball. Truth be told, you two had almost nothing in common, except for the fact that you were both strong.
You, Narumi, and Mina led your trainee batch; everyone looked up to you. Mina respected the two of you. Narumi, of course, couldn't accept that there was someone tailgating him at his position at the top. And you—who admired Narumi quite a lot. Although, that admiration came in the form of endless teasing. It wasn't just Narumi who was annoyed, but the rest of your fellow trainees as well. They were forced to be a witness of your 'disgusting and coy display of affection.'
Narumi said he hated it. He hated how strong you were and how you were always up in his business. Yet, you two were attached at the hip. It was a paradox, but neither of you addressed it. That was until you both graduated and got assigned at different bases which were hours apart.
Your feelings for each other were thrown into disarray. But that didn't mean you lost all correspondence.
────────────
"You look like shit."
Narumi groans from the other end of your video call. You were teasing him, but it was partially true—his eyes were sunken and a deep frown persisted on his face.
He glares intensely at you. "You wouldn't understand the burdens of the strongest kaiju killer, would you?"
His arrogance was only met by a laugh. That same laugh was one he despised, but sought after because... it just felt right. There were many things in his head that made no sense and the common denominator was you. "Why do you have to mess up my mind?" he'd often think, especially on his sleepless nights.
Narumi leans back in his chair, a pensive sigh escaping his dried lips. "But y'know... I've really been frustrated lately..." he admits.
It was a rare show of vulnerability. Most of the time, he's too prideful to admit his true feelings, but after knowing you for so long, he has learned to let his walls down sometimes. At the very least—you were nice enough to pause the teasing when it gets serious.
"Overworked huh?" you ask.
He turns his chair to face you again, tilting his head and letting out another fatigued breath. "That and life is just so BORING," he exclaims. You raise an eyebrow, anticipating a hissy fit which wasn't uncommon for this guy.
"I feel like all I do is work and work... and work. God, even the younger members of this base have more fun than I do."
A smirk crosses your lips, amused that you predicted his impending meltdown. "What? Like they don't deserve it?"
"Duh! I'm out here busting my ass off—killing kaiju left and right—and these kids are the ones having a social life?"
"When did you care about being social, Mr. Shut-in?"
He clicks his tongue. "Okay, first of all, fuck you. Second, I don't care about social relations. I am WAY above that, okay? I don't care about what they do. They can fuck like rabbits in the dorms for all I care but—"
Narumi was cut off by the sound of your boisterous laughter. As much as you tried to keep the serious facade, it was impossible... especially after figuring out his true cause of distress.
"Oh my God... don't tell me you're mad because the younger soldiers are getting more action than you?"
His face felt warm all over. Narumi didn't mean to blurt that out, but envy had been consuming him for the past few days after he had heard some younger members of the base... getting dirty in one of the dorms.
Narumi was the strongest soldier—admired and idolized by many. Yet, here he was—a raging virgin with a seemingly unreciprocated crush on you. Yes, you, but he'd rather die than admit it to your face.
He turned to look away, stunned into silence by his own actions. He was unsure of how to salvage his reputation at the moment. "That's not what I meant..."
All the arrogance had faded from his voice—replaced by a uncharacteristic softness as a result of embarrassing himself.
"Oh c'mon. There's nothing embarrassing about that. We're only human; we can feel those things, y'know?"
"Even you?" he counters.
An uneasy smile spreads across your face. "Yeah... even me."
But the look on his face says that he isn't convinced. In his head he's thinking about how impossible that is considering how attractive you are. You had to be lying about being in the same boat as him.
Though you weren't sure why you wanted him to believe you.
"I'm serious. Look, I'm in a base far away from all the people I know and the guy here aren't exactly my... cup of tea," you added.
With that, your best friend's face seemed to lighten up a bit. Part of him was glad that even someone as hot as you was in the same predicament as him, but mostly because the person he likes isn't being taken by anyone else.
As high and mighty he sees himself, he always thought himself unworthy of you. The simple fact that you were unclaimed gave him a sliver of hope.
He opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out. The poor guy was confused and it was clear as day. You felt mostly responsible for it. As you prepared to say something, you crossed your arms—pushing your boobs up in the process. Wearing a tank top suddenly made you conscious of your body.
An intrusive thought invaded your brain. It was perhaps the result of you wanting to tease him, his frustration, and you being secretly pent up as well. It was a futile attempt to shake off that thought as it kept bombarding you.
You were able to hold it in, until you couldn't.
"Hey... Gen?"
"What?" he says, sounding a bit dejected by his circumstances.
You stifled a smile, knowing that he'd be thrown off by it. "Can you turn around? I wanna show you a surprise."
He raises an eyebrow, skeptical of whatever you have up your sleeve. Throughout your years together, he has learned to take your so-called sincerity with a grain of salt. But his affection towards you makes him abandon all rational thought.
"Okay?" he says, turning around in his swivel chair.
You let out a breath—giving yourself a quick mental pep talk. You quickly lifted your top, thrilled and anxious of the risk at the same time.
It was now or never. "Okay, you can look now."
Narumi quickly turns in his seat, eyes widening upon seeing a pair of tits—your tits—on his screen. He frantically looked away, covering his eyes with his hands—though he wasn't doing a good job at it.
"H-hey! What the fuck? Put those away!"
His words betrayed his actions; you could see him peeking through his fingers. You figured you were at a point of no return, so you did the only appropriate thing: squishing your boobs together for him.
Seeing your boldness, he let his hand fall—finally admiring what you displayed for him. "Seriously... what are you doing?"
"We're both frustrated, aren't we?" you ask as if your situation was ordinary.
"So what? I stare at your tits?"
"Dumbass. Is that all you do when you're frustrated? Stare at shit?"
He rolls his eyes, trying to act blasé, but there was a growing tent in his pants. "No... well, I guess I... jack off... sometimes..."
As if saying 'sometimes' softens the blow of his words.
You let go of your tits and lean back into your chair. It was entertaining—how his eyes never seem to leave your chest. Almost as if he were entranced by it.
His body moved on its own, palming the growing erection under his sweats. It ached; it was painful and it wanted relief.
With the angle of the camera, you couldn't really see him pull his cock out from under the desk, but you just knew. The momentary o-face he made presumably when the cold air of his room hit the warm and sensitive skin of his cock was a dead giveaway.
All shame was thrown out the window as he started to slowly fist his cock at the sight he could only dream of. It almost felt unreal to him that all of this was happening—you willingly showing off your tits while he jacked off and you watched.
It was exhilarating in all the best ways.
But he wasn't the only one excited. This all started because you were frustrated too. Your eyes were fixed on his face. Unlike him—who had visuals—all you could go off on was the fact that you were doing something so dirty.
A hand slipped under your shorts and beneath your panties. It was damp, of course it was. You slowly rubbed the pad of your finger against the sensitive bundle of nerves.
Narumi must've noticed your own movements as well because he let out a low groan. "Fuck... that's hot."
You huff your chest out with a smirk. "Bet you're so hard right now huh?"
"Like you're not a fucking waterfall down there," he retorts.
The back and forth goes on while the two of you played with yourselves.
Eventually, the stimulation wasn't enough for you. Quickly, you pulled your hand out and popped your fingers into your mouth. He watched intently, mesmerized by you.
After sufficiently lubricating your digits, you snuck them back in and plunged two fingers into you. The pleasant intrusion had you throwing your head back against your chair and letting out a soft moan.
He rubbed himself faster than before. Narumi was desperately reaching his high, wanting to quell the ache in his cock.
"Play with your tits," he demanded.
You had heard him well enough before you got lost in the sensation. Your other hand made its way up to cup one of your breasts, slowly massaging it in a teasing manner. His jaw went slack at how easily you obeyed his orders.
The ego boost that he got while ordering around his subordinates isn't even on par with this at all.
Every time you flicked or tugged your nipple—he swore that his dick twitched. "Yeah... keep going. Are you rubbing your clit huh?"
"No..."
"Oh," he breathes, "Fucking yourself on your fingers then?"
"Y-yeah, but I can't reach deep enough," you whine.
He sucks in through his teeth. Narumi had never seen you so desperate before and awakened something primal in him.
"If that were me... you would've came minutes ago, wouldn't you?"
You nod, now wishing that it was his fingers making a mess out of you. But this was all you could get for now.
"Yeah... you're the strongest after all. You can do anything, right?"
"You fucking know it," he says almost breathlessly. Seeing that fucked out look on your face while praising him almost made him cum. But he wanted to last longer—to savor this moment which he wasn't sure if it would happen again.
"You gonna cum with me?" he asked.
He was close. Oh so painfully close. But he was a bit of a romantic in that he wanted the both of you to cum together.
You peel your back off your chair, shifting angles to coax out an orgasm and after a few moments, you do. The sensation flooded your senses, spreading warmth all throughout your body. You weren't sure if you came this hard because of having 0 action for so long or if it was because of how lewd you were with your best friend.
And as you moaned sweetly through your microphone, he let out hot ropes of cum and a breathless moan to match. He felt his abdomen cramping after unconsciously being stiff and on edge for so long.
Both of you let out labored breaths, trying to calm your racing heartbeats. It was only then your eyes met again. Though it seems like post nut clarity hit him too soon as he looked away with a bashful expression.
"Still frustrated, captain?" you teased.
He was glad you didn't call him that earlier, otherwise he would've came right on the spot. "Shut the fuck up... I am though."
"Greedy. That wasn't enough for you?"
"You mean seeing you play with yourself through a fucking monitor? Go figure."
You laugh once more and it was now mostly music to his ears. "Say—how about I visit you some time? Let me show you the real thing?"
"...Sure."
"For someone who was speaking so dirty earlier—you sure do get shy huh?"
"Don't you ever shut the fuck up?" he quips to which you laugh again.
The prospect of getting to hold you and feel you around his member was tantalizing. But for now, he'll have to deal with his cock hardening again.

I WANNA SEE SOME STRICT DAD JUDE
thank you😻
Attention (Jude Bellingham)
A/N: daddy jude in this 😜 (literally. he is a father.)
Y/N’s POV:
“Noah, please put that down.” I tell my very rowdy 5 year old who is insisting on playing with our crystal bowl. I smell something burning and quickly leave the pot on the stove to open the oven. My meatloaf is slightly burned on the top, but I can just cut it off. I grab my oven mitts and take the dish out of the oven. I place it on the stove top and look up after hearing a crash followed by crying. “I didn’t do anything!” Noah says, throwing his hands up. I see his twin sister on the floor, crying. I walk over to her and crouch down. “What happened, Nora?” I ask her. “Noah pushed me!” She screams in between sniffles, pointing at her brother. “I did not! She tripped over the couch! I didn’t do anything!” Noah screams, defending himself. “Stop yelling. Mama’s very tired.” I say, shushing them both. I finally got myself situated after a fit of nausea came over me. I’m just about to be 8 months pregnant. Jude and I never expected to have a baby so young, let alone twins. We decided to get married two years ago, and eventually we wanted another baby. We knew having another baby would be hard, but I never thought it would be this hard. Jude not being around as much is only adding to how hard it is.
Jude’s parents have decided to pay us a visit, so I’m attempting to prepare dinner. “Noah, please. I’m not blaming you. It’s okay, just stop screaming.” After Nora blamed him for pushing her, he fell into hysterics, trying to prove that he’s not to blame. He’s been screaming how it’s not his fault for what feels like hours. Nora has already got up and started playing again after some ice was put on her hurt knee. I grab Noah and pull him into my chest to give him a hug. I assure him that I’m not angry and that it’s not his fault. Just as he starts to calm down, I hear Nora fall once more. She was always the clumsy one.
I finally got dinner ready, and I’ve started on dessert. Nora has decided to help me bake a carrot cake while her brother watches some cartoons in the living room. (its one of those american style kitchens that look into the living room with an island and shit. My dream kitchen. Were not leaving a 5 year old unattended) “Okay, now we put 3 eggs.” I turn around to where Nora should be sitting peacefully. “Oh my god.” I say, covering my face. There she sits, covered in flour. I stutter some sounds of frustration before she says that she’ll go so in the living room with her brother to watch with him. “NO! No, don’t do that.” I say, grabbing her. “Just sit her for 5 minutes, honey.” I tell her, handing her my phone to play games on.
I wipe my hands on my apron after closing the oven door and putting a 45 minute timer for my cake. I lift Nora off the kitchen counter and place her on the floor. I take my phone out of her hand. “Bath time!” I say to the twins. “No!!” Nora yells, her game being interrupted. I hear some grunts of disapproval from her brother. “Please? I have one bath bomb for you guys.” I attempt to compromise with them. They love the way the colors fill the bathtub. They immediately race up the stairs to the bathroom, knowing there’s only one available. In reality, I had 2, but the second one was very fancy and expensive and I was saving it for some moment Jude and I get some time alone.
I walk into the bathroom to see the twins fighting over who get to use the bath bomb. I remove their clothes as they continue to bicker. I wrap them in their hooded towels and have them sit on the edge of the tub as it fills up with warm water. Once it’s filled, I take off their towels and put them both in the tub together. They eventually stop fighting and start playfully splashing each other with water. I giggle, happy to see them not trying to rip each other’s vocal chords out. I open the drawer under the sink and unwrap the bath bomb from its plastic. “Mama, I want to put it in!” Noah yells! “No! I want to!” Nora replies. I keep quiet, in an attempt to stay calm. They start splashing each other and end up wetting me in the process. They shut their mouths and look at me, covered in bath water. “I’m putting it in!” I say putting a stop to their argument. I drop it into the tub. The kids are in awe of the colors and glitter floating around in the water.
Once they finally exited the tub, I got them both dressed. I took them downstairs and turned on the T.V. just in time to take out my cake from the oven. I leave it on the stove for it to cool down when I hear jingling at the door. I look up to see my husband walking through the door. The kids  jump up from the couch to greet their father at the door. Jude’s legs are attacked by two little kids hugging him. He crouches down and gives his two kids two hugs with his two arms. He leaves a few kisses and their faces before getting up. They walk back to the couch and continue watching their show. He walks over to me and pulls me into his side. I feel butterflies fly around in my stomach as he kisses my forehead. “Missed ya. How’s my baby?” He asks, rubbing my very pregnant belly. “Very active. Footballer’s genetics, for sure.” I say, referencing the very painful kicks to my ribs. “Whatever you made smells amazing.” He says. “Hmm. You, however, do not smell amazing. Please, go shower.” I tell him, kissing his lips and patting his chest. In my defense, ‘straight out of training in the summer’ is not the most appealing scent. He rushes upstairs to take a shower. Finally, I don’t have to deal with these kids alone.
“Mama, please!?” Nora begs. “Nora, please. You’re giving me a headache. We cannot get a dog, because I will be the one taking care of it.” I try to explain to my daughter, my head in my hands. Where is Jude when I need him? “Yeah, and you’re too useless to help.” Noah adds. “Hey!” Nora yells. “Noah! That is not nice!” I tell him. “It’s true!” He says, expecting me to agree with him. “Is not!” Nora screams. “Is too!” Noah yells back. Nora jumps off of her place on the couch, onto her brother on the floor. A full blown bar brawl breaks out on my living room floor between my 5 year olds. “Hey! Stop it!!” I yell, trying to pull them apart. “Jude!!!”
“Hey! Where were you!?” I scold my husband. “Hmm?” He groans, his face in a pillow. He looked so tired when he got in, so I assume he went to sleep. “I needed you!” I tell him. “Hmm… I’m sorry. Come cuddle with me.” I grumbles, grabbing my hand. “No!” I yell pulling my hand away. I look at the clock on the wall. It reads 6:00. Only an hour and a half until Jude’s family arrives. I make my way downstairs and finish icing my, now cooled, carrot cake with a cream cheese icing. I do some cleaning around the house before his family gets here.
“It’s so nice to see you guys! Jude’ll be down in a second. He’s just freshening up.” I say to my in-laws. I guide them to the table and sit them down. I have all the food laid out in a line in front of them. “Everything smells amazing, Y/N.” Denise says. “You really outdid yourself again.” Mark adds. “Uncle Jobe!” The twins come running into the room, and hug their uncle. “Well, what about us?” Their grandfather asks, holding his arms open for a hug. They run to their grandparents and hug them. “Sit down, kids.” I tell them. After a few arguments and a stern look from my side, they finally sit down.
“Mum, dad! It’s so nice to see you!” Jude says, coming down the stairs. He hugs his brother and father then kisses his mum’s forehead. He sits down at his designated spot at our dining table. I serve everyone their first plate of food. I grab the kid’s plastic plates and put some food on it for them. “Mum, I don’t want veggies!” Noah says. “Me neither!” Nora adds. I look up at Jude who is too busy in conversation with Jobe to parent his kids. After some convincing and the promise of cake, I get them to eat all their food. At this point, the kids have argued with everything I’ve told them. Anything they could make difficult, they made difficult. I can see that Jude has taken notice of his kids’ behaviors. He hasn’t said anything yet, but I can see it brewing.
“Y/N, this cake is amazing!” Jobe says with his mouth full. “Thank you. I had a little helper in the kitchen.” I say, poking Nora’s side. “I helped too!” Noah shouts. “I’m sure you did, Noah. Don’t yell.” Jude chimes in. “No, you didn’t!” Nora shouts louder. I let out a sigh. “Yes, I did!” The kids start bickering back and forth again. Jude looks at me then to his kids. Before he can say anything, I speak up. “You don’t have to argue, Nora. You both helped.” After a few stern looks from Jude, the twins quiet down.
“How’s the baby?” Denise asks me. “She’s been okay. Very active. Very painful.” I say. “Mama, can we go play??” Noah asks, itching to get away from the adult conversation. “Sure, honey. Just stay out of the kitchen and the garden.” I tell him. I don’t want them playing anywhere near glass or knives, and the garden is too far for us to monitor them. Jude and I get caught in conversation after eating my carrot cake before we hear a crash and break. Jude quickly stands up, much faster than me, and makes his way to where the sound came from. Mark puts his hand on my back for support while I stand up. I waddle to where now Jude and the kids stand. He’s ushering them away from where I see my favorite mug broken. It’s the mug that Jude got me when I gave birth to the twins. I feel tears well in my eyes, a mix of pregnancy hormones and sentiment hitting me. Jude’s family senses my sadness and Jude’s anger. “I think we’ve overstayed our welcome.” Denise jokes. Jude subtly agrees and hugs his family, indicating to them that they should leave. Mark gives me a tight hug to tell me that it’ll be okay and they leave.
Once they’re gone, I feel tears running down my face. Jude walks up to me and gives me a hug. He kisses my head. “So, who wants to explain WHY YOU WERE IN THE KITCHEN AFTER WE TOLD YOU NOT TO BE!?” Jude says loudly. He looks down at our kids who have their heads down. “You two have been nothing but trouble today. Am I right!?” He says. “Yes, dad…” The twins say in unison. “Your mum has been so tired lately, and you two have only contributed to that.” I look at Nora’s face to see her nearly breaking a tear. She’s not used to being yelled at by her daddy. “Jude-” I say, but am quickly interrupted. “No, these two need to face the consequences.” He says to me. He turns his attention back to his kids. “Go to your room. Now. And if we hear any fighting or bickering in there, you will NEVER hear the end of it. Now go.” He says, firmly. The kids stomp their way up the stairs and enter their shared bedroom.
“I’m so sorry, love. I haven’t been there for you lately. I can’t even imagine how much trouble these two have been giving you. I love you.” Jude says, sitting me down on the couch. He picks up the large pieces of glass and then pulls out the vacuum. He starts vacuuming the hazardous pieces of glass on the floor. Once it’s all clean he cleans up the table and does the dishes.
He comes back to the couch and sits down next to me. We discuss our kids' punishments and then he helps me up. He takes me up the stairs and into their bedroom. Both Nora and Noah are sitting on their respective beds quietly. “So, your mother and I have decided no T.V. for a week.” Jude breaks the news to our kids. “A week!?” “But that’s not fair!” The kids interject. “No ‘but’s. It’s not up for discussion.” I say. “Honey, go to bed. I’ll be there in a second.” Jude says. “I love you two.” I say, unable to resist. I waddle my way into my bedroom and sit on our bed. I swing my legs onto the bed. “I want you two to get up and apologize to mama.” I hear faintly before the door is swung open. The kids crawl up onto the bed and give me a hug. “We’re so sorry, mama.” Nora says. “We love you.” Noah adds. I pull both of them into a hug and kiss their foreheads. “I love you too. And it’s okay, honey. I forgive you. Now, go sleep. It’s late.” I tell them. They hug their dad on their way out and go to sleep.
Jude quickly grabs me and carries me bridal style. “Whoa! What are you doing?” I ask my husband. He carries me to our large and luxurious bathroom. He places me on the floor and starts removing both mine as his clothes. He takes my hand and helps me step into our hot tub, already filled with warm water, and turns on the jets. He opens our cabinet and takes out our expensive bath bomb and drops it into the water. I watch it fizz away as he gets in behind me. He places his hands on my baby bump and kisses my neck. “I haven’t been giving you much attention lately, have I?” I smirks as his hands move lower and lower.

Ahh so I’m the same Anon that sent the College!Ford sarcastic praise ask!!! I’m so glad you liked my little blurb, I absolutely loved Freaks and was high-key thinking about it when I came up with that praise idea! I absolutely love how you write Ford, and I’m honestly so hyped for any of your other writing projects! Very excited for the cabin one 💓
I’ve also got another praise suggestion! (If your still open to receiving them that is 🙈)
Ok this premises a little wild, but hear me out. Reader and Ford accidentally swap bodies (probably from the Carpet Diem carpet) and since this would be a post-portal/post-Weirdmageddon!Ford, seeing his body being controlled by someone else just, initially brings back bad memories. Reader who only has limited knowledge about what Ford experienced with Bill, takes this as an opportunity to show Ford’s body kindness.
Reader would just dote over Ford, admiring themselves as him and reassuring Ford that they would never harm his body, they care too much about him to ever consider doing that.
As Reader showers Ford with praise, they note how strong he is as a person, (because Reader can literally feel all of Ford’s aches and pains he accumulated over the years.) Reader goes on about how Ford’s body is truly a marvel, hands absolutely included (I can see Reader getting very deep and passionate about genes and the human body, and just how amazing Ford’s hands are; how its rare for someone to be born with fully functional polydactyly, on both hands no less!)
And Ford (in Readers body) is just…at a loss for words? Ford is just so unfamiliar with receiving earnest, soft appreciation he doesn’t know how to respond or act in this situation, it’s admittedly, a little odd for him to see himself…love himself? Ford is just so use to either being fairly dismissive of his own body, or feeling shame over his hands. So him hearing someone truly love and respect those things about him?! Has Ford absolutely floored
lol idk if this premise is…a little weird? But I thought it could be a cute supernatural trust activity?!? lol
OH ANON now this is cinema!
Don't ever apologise for getting weird with it, that's what I'm all about. The weirder the better!
This is so fucking cute and unique.
Under the cut as always:
I think the idea that Ford has chronic pain fits this really nicely too because yeah, imagine swapping bodies with this guy and being like '....damn bitch, you live like this?' I have it myself and I know that shit sucks.
The moment you swap you're initially just left reeling by the immediate physical sensations: how absolutely starving he is, how exhausted and low-energy he is. He's sore and tender in spots you've never even considered before and there's not even any indication for the cause of the pain, either. It's almost phantom in nature. And when you bring it up, Ford is very much like "yeah but hey, that's old age, right? Totally normal! Painkillers are for the weak!" and Reader is just flabbergasted by it.
Ford being utterly overbearing as he watches you pilot him around, telling you what to do with his body and getting frustrated with the fact that you're not treating him the way he does himself because he's right about everything, it's always been that way and he's functioning just fine, thank you very much.
I can see Reader righting all the wrongs regardless of Ford's insistence that he's fine, too, no matter how pissy he gets about it. Like no, we're gonna sit your ass down and eat this meal, we're going to take an hour long bath and get the dirt out from under your nails.
The concept that he's so afraid you'll deface and abuse his body like Bill did without even realising he's been doing the same thing to himself for years.
And yeah, Reader complimenting all of Ford's being in a way that's much deeper than god you're fucking hot. The way he looks, his scars and his tattoos, his perfectly average physique, all of it. I think his hands would take some getting used to as well. Having six fingers when you're only used to five would probably be kind of hard to work with at first? Forgetting to give yourself enough space to move them when reaching for something or being a little clumsy when handling stuff. But that doesn't mean they're not marvels in and of themselves, and Reader would be just absolutely taken with them.
Ahhhh you're onto something here anon....
and imagine Ford experiencing arousal in the Reader's body in reaction to the praise and care he's receiving, being fascinated by the difference in sensation. The need he'd have to examine that only to find that- oh hang on, that's really quite nice and actually would you mind fucking him? He's always wondered what it would feel like, hasn't every man?
I could also not resist a 2002 Scooby Doo, Fred Jones-esque 'I can look at myself naked' moment

Tumblr media
KUSANAGI . KYO — (≧▽≦)
His smile stretches as he watches you attempt to stuff his cock into you, your palms flat against his chest. His hair is messy— still adorning his signature headband, gloved hands sliding up and down your hips.
" Awww , won't it fit ? " he mimics the face of sadness as he watches your face twist with frustration— "Ugh, Kyo— C-can—" this bet was stupid. Kyo and you had made a bet, saying that you couldn't possibly fuck yourself on his cock as good he could fuck you.
"Can you.. help me.. p,,, please??" you say, wiggling your hips on his dick for emphasis.
He lets out a dramatic sigh, "God, I guess I could." he grins. You lost the bet, as always.
YAGAMI . IORI — (。uωu)♪
"My hands? You like my hands?" he stares at you as you nod. He looks at his hands, nails painted black, the middle finger painted red. "How much?".
He never thought asking you that would result in this debauchery— two fingers stuffed in your mouth as he fingers you with the other hand. Your eyes are rolled into the back of your skull, drool running down your chin as he pumps his fingers in and out of you—
"You really like 'em?" and you once again nod, quickly and messily. "Gah— mmngh, g'nna cuhh— nn!"
He doesn't smile but— you can tell in his head he is,
"Cum then, cum all over my pretty hands."
K , DASH — ヽ(・∀・)ノ
"You can take more than that—" he huffs, hands on the sides of your head as he drills his cock into your stretched out hole as you shake your head no. You had already squirted six times on his cock, what more could he want?
"I haven't came yet. I want more." he breathes, beads of sweat sticking to his caramel skin as he leans down to press a soft kiss to your lips— drool sticking to his lips as he pulled away.
"K— .. 'm cuhh—mm— innggg!!!"
He stifles a small laugh as he watches you writhe beneath him, sucking his cock in deeper and deeper before you begin to squirt— now pushing his cock out but he continues to push his cock in, regardless if your pussy pushes him out or not.
"I have to cum inside."
NANAKASE . YASHIRO — (≡^∇^≡)
"Fuckin' look at that— Pussy's cryin' f'me." he laughs out as he fucks you from behind, one hand on your ass and the other in his hair. You cry out his name into your pillow, only for him to grab onto your hair and pull your head up— lines of drool still sticking you to the pillow.
"Sl,, slower— puhhh— lease. Please!"
"Slower?? Aww, but your pussy loves this— so" thrust, "fucking–" thrust, "much!" . He's rewarded with your shuddering body as you begin to cum on his cock, further emphasizing his words.
"Thought ya said slow down. Poor baby. Pathetic lil cunt wants more n more of me! So fucking cute." he huffs in your ear, your small hand reaching up to wrap around his neck, thumb caressing the heart charm on his choker. "it's,, too— muhh— chh.."
"Too much, ya say? Yeah fucking right. Says the one cummin' on me like a fucking whore. I doubt it's too much— Think it's jus' enough."
☆ bonus ! ☆
VICE & MATURE — (○_○)!!
Vice licks on your neck as Mature is seated between your legs, thumb circling your clit as she tilts her head at you. She lets out a soft giggle— "Look at you, making a mess." she shakes her head in disbelief, mimicking a saddened tone. Vice giggles into your ear as she grabs onto your perky nipples, pulling, twisting— before latching onto one, her body leaning on one of your arms. Your cries of overstimulation are overlooked.
Mature reaches over with her free hand to caress Vice, nails dragging against the plump flesh of her ass as the red head continues to abuse your nipples.
"Ah, they're gonna cum again Vice. C'mere." Vice listens as if she were a puppy, but not before spitting down on your abused nipples and smiling cockily at your fucked out face.
Mature places her hand around Vice's neck, caressing her before pulling her in for a sloppy kiss— now using three fingers to pump into you.
They both turn towards you, Vice a bit more enthusiastic than Mature as she presses more kisses to blonde's face— red lipstick sticking to her delight.
"Aww, you're cumming—" Mature giggles out, as Vice leans her head against the crook of her neck.

Desolation
Tumblr media
Pairings: Nick Sturniolo X Female Reader, friendship🥰includes Chris and Matt as well😋
Synopsis: After Y/N has a messy breakup with her boyfriend. Nick and his brothers are always there for her ready to kill for her🥹
Warnings⚠️: mentions of heartbreak, slight mention of abuse, but nothing crazy. The three boys ready to kill for Y/N. It’s just so cutesyyy and a little sad nothing crazy
Song for this imagine: The Worst by Jhené Aiko
And don’t take this personal, but you’re the worst, you know what you’ve done to me
I had been dating my current boyfriend since I was 17, and I’m 21 now, but lately we’ve been rocky, and not well for one another. Last year we were constantly on and off, something that pissed Nick off so much.
Flashback
“I’m not even sure what you see in him like he’s so fucking toxic, and literally hates us because we’re your guy friends” Nick would tell me in a fit of frustration as I would run into his arms crying over him breaking up with me.
“I know Nick, but I love him so much it hurts when he keeps playing this cat mouse game of wanting me then pushing me away” I would say wiping my tears
“He’s hurting you so fucking much you’re always sad, crying, never eating and your smile doesn’t shine the same anymore” Nick would tell me hugging me as I weeped
“God you’re right. I need to leave him, or figure this out” I would say
“I vote to leave him” Matt chimed in as he walked into the kitchen. I looked up and gave him a weak smile
“Like J Cole said you’re killing yourself to find a man that’ll kill for you” Chris added trying to lighten the mood
“Ew Chris shut the fuck up that was so embarrassing” Nick said giving him a dirty look
“Yeah that was really fucking gross” Matt said laughing at him
“Even though that was cringe I appreciate you trying to make me laugh” I told him as I laughed wiping my tears
Flashback over
That never would happen though. We would break up, I’d cry and say I’m leaving him, and then two days later we were back together like nothing happened. A pattern I know was pissing the triplets off, but he was my first everything I couldn’t leave him.
We were really good for three months, and then all of a sudden our issues came back. Constantly fighting, yelling, anxiety and trust issues came rushing back in.
I was so tired of having to tiptoe around him, scared that it would cause another crazy fight. He stopped coming over to the triplets house because Nick banned him after we got into yet another screaming match and he embarrassed me in front of them. Even after that I still stood with him like an absolute idiot, but man love will make you do crazy things.
I hadn’t seen my boyfriend for a few days, and I wanted to surprise him by taking him on a cute picnic at the park. It was what we did for our first date, so I thought this might make him reminisce and change how he was treating me. When we had good moments they were really great, and when they were bad they were really fucking bad. But I really wanted this date to help us fix our issues.
I had Ubered to the park because even though he agreed to the date he said he couldn’t pick me up. Which was weird, but I figured he was still mad at me over our argument.
The whole date he was being super dry and barely laughing at my usual jokes. He was constantly checking his phone, and when he was done answering his messages he would place his phone screen side down. Which was not his usual behavior, and this was giving me major anxiety, and I was starting to worry that he might be cheating on me.
“Why do you keep looking at your phone” I asked him eating a strawberry
“Can’t I look at my phone?” He said giving me a dirty look
“I mean you can, but I did this date for you, and you haven’t looked at me once, nor laughed at my jokes” I told him still looking at him
“No one told you to do this” he said nonchalantly
“What the fuck is really going on right now? Like I’m trying to fix our problems, and you’re being such a fucking dick” I told him starting to pack the food away
“There’s nothing wrong with our relationship, you just don’t know how to act, and you piss me off, so I get upset” he said looking down at his phone again
“Wow! You start about 85% of our arguments” I said laughing, hoping he was just joking with me, but to no surprise he’s still looking down at his phone texting someone
“I wouldn’t start them if you weren’t so fucking annoying” he said looking at me with a smug face
“You’re such a dick. I'M TRYING TO BE NICE” I told him getting a little loud, and he just ignores me looking down at his phone again
“Holy shit who the fuck are you texting” I said as i grabbed his phone, and looked down at the screen
Shelly💗👩🏼‍❤️‍💋‍👨🏻
I miss you so much when are you coming back?
Soon baby I’m just waiting for my homeboy to finish, so i can bring him home
My heart dropped to my stomach, and immediately I felt like throwing up reading these messages of him cheating on me. As tears welled in my eyes I looked up at him, and he seemed annoyed??
“What the fuck is this?” I said keeping my composure as my tears fell non stop
“Can’t you just mind your fucking business” he said snatching his phone away
“Mind my fucking business? I’m here trying to fix what we’ve had for four years, and you’re texting some other girl? And not only that but you’re lying to her! At least be a man and fucking own up to it. At least fucking break up with me, so you can be with her” I told him packing my purse up so I could leave
“Yeah I was planning and breaking up with you” he said still so calmly
“Yeah? And when were you going to do this? Whenever you want? Leave me stringing onto you, and having this false hope that we could actually work out” I told him as I wiped my tears.
“I was going to do it today” he said looking down
“Yeah sure you were. You’re such a fucking asshole” I said
“See! This is why I’m over you. You’re so fucking boring the same person since we were 17. You bring nothing good to me. I prayed day in and day out that you’d just leave me alone. Can’t you see my anger towards you I don’t love you anymore, and I haven’t loved you since we were 18” he said to me
“SO THEN WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU KEEP ME STRINGING ALONG FOR SO MANY YEARS” I yelled at him not caring if someone looked over at us
“Calm down” he said looking me dead in my eyes
“Fuck you, don’t tell me to calm down you piece of shit” I told him standing up getting ready to walk away
“Yeah well fuck you too run away just like you always do” he said also standing up
“We’re done. Don’t ever call me. Don’t ever come looking for me. I fucking hate you” I said wiping my tears
“I’m good off you. You don’t come looking for me because I know you can’t live without me” he said laughing in my face
I picked up some fruits and threw them at him, but before I could stomp away he grabbed his cup of wine and threw it at me. Splashing my face and all down my white shirt. I just looked at him as my face dropped, I threw some fruits, and I get a half of a cup of wine thrown at me completely destroying my makeup and my white shirt
“Go run away you whore” he said as he threw the cup in my direction
“Fuck you” was all I could say. I walked past him and brush past him, and as I did that he grabbed my arm harshly and shoved me away from him. Causing me to loose my balance, but not enough to throw me down
I just looked back at him. Truly trying to comprehend that he just put his hands on me. Tears just ran down my face as I stormed off
I ordered an Uber and texted Nick
-hey can I come over?
-of courseeee we’re actually so bored just watching a movie in the living room, and we miss you 😚
I hearted the message, and as I locked my phone the Uber pulled up. I gave her the address and she drove me there. Every so often taking glances at me, but seeing I didn’t want to talk as I had my eyes closed trying to control myself from having a breakdown
After a 20 minute drive I was at the triplets house. I hopped out and took my phone out of my back pocket. Nick had texted me he left the door unlocked for me, so I went to the front door, opening it, and then locking it.
I walked up the stairs and when I turned into the living room Nick practically jumped off the couch
“What the actual fuck Y/N” he said standing up. I looked at him and started sobbing
“He fucking cheated on me” I said as Nick grabbed me and took me to sit on the couch with them
“HE DID WHAT?” Chris said also sitting up
“He…he was cheating on me, and we broke up. He told me I was fucking boring and he hasn’t loved me since we were 18, and that all I do is run away from my problems, and I’m a whore” I said ugly sobbing into Nicks arms
“I got so fucking pissed at him I threw some fruits at him, and then he threw his cup of wine all over me” I said looking down at my soaked shirt
“What a fucking dick. I’ll fucking kill him I fucking swear” Matt said starting to stand up in anger
“The whole date he was on his phone and wouldn’t let me see, and he told me he’s been planning to break up with me, and that he didn’t care about the date because it wouldn’t fix anything. I should’ve known because he didn’t even pick me up for the date” I said as I started to slow down my crying
“He didn’t pick you up?, Y/N why the fuck would you even waste your time trying to go on a date” Nick said rubbing my back
“Because I loved him. I wanted us to work out so badly he was my everything” I said looking at Nick
“You shouldn’t have to beg for someone’s love” Chris said looking at me with a weak smile
“I know, but I hoped he would see why he fell in love with me” I said, wiping my eyes. Nicks eyes traveled to my arms, and suddenly he grabs my arm and looks shocked and saddened
“What the fuck is this?” He said, looking at my arm. I looked down and saw fingerprints bruising my skin from where he grabbed me harshly
“He fucking grabbed me and shoved me when I went to walk past him” I said looking down
“He fucking put his hands on you” they all said in unison, and to this I nodded my head
“Y/N I will fucking beat his ass. I’ll knock him out and send him to the fucking hospital” Nick said standing up in anger
“He’s done stuff like this before! Whenever we would argue he would grab me and shove me sometimes to the ground and other times just a small shove” I said looking up at them
“Y/N, I’m going to fucking find him. I’m going. I’m going to bash his fucking teeth in” Chris said looking for his keys
“Guys no please calm down. I’m done I really need you guys here with me” I said looking at them again
“No man should ever put his hands on a woman especially a woman he loves” Matt said
“Well he doesn’t love me” I said
“Doesn’t matter” Nick said
“I know. I appreciate you guys so much. I love you guys, and I’m so sorry I didn’t leave him sooner. I’m so fucking sorry.”
“Don’t apologize. We love you so much, and we’ll do everything to get you to forget about him and feel better” Nick said
“Thank you guys” I said giving them a smile
“Would a kiss help” Matt asked giving puppy eyes
I laughed and shook my head yes. They all came in giving me a big group hug and kissing me on the cheek
“Go shower kid, so we can watch a movie and forget about that small dick loser” Nick said giving me one last tight hug
“Small dick loser is right” I said getting up, and we all laughed at that
I showered and changed into a pair of Nick's pajama pants and shirt. We all sat on the couch and decided to watch a comedy movie while eating some snacks. Occasionally they would throw in extra commentary to make me laugh.
“I love you guys so so much. You have no idea how much yall mean to me” I said looking at them
“We fucking love you too” Nick said giving me one big hug
“You’re gonna find a man that’ll kill for you” Chris said laughing
“Chris enough with that corny joke” I said laughing
“There goes that smileeeeee” he said teasing me
We ended the night just joking and watching movies till we all eventually fell asleep in Nicks room.
I loved these kids so much<3
The End🥰
I loved writing this! Can’t wait to write some more, and if you have any recommendations on what you’d want to see next lmk in the comments🫶🏽 thankssss

how did it take me so long to start calling myself aromantic/arospec. like now that ive actually started using the term for myself its so crazy to me that i wasnt using this term since the first time i heard about it. i literally remember like almost a year ago being like "i wish i could just call myself aromantic itd just be a way easier way to explain to people the sort of relationships i want since im interested in sex and really close friendships but not really interested in traditional romantic relationships right now" like my brother you CAN?? jesus fuck. like this thought came aftera series of relationships where i would tell my friends that i had a crush on someone, then the relationship progressed in someway, then i got the sense that the person i was interested in had romantic feelings for me and id get this weird horrible feeling and would run away. and i was literally like "what is this whats going on". i was like woah this must be like.... commitment issues or something. like i was going around telling people that. i was getting over commitment issues that were surely temporary. but they werent asking me to commit to anything they just had feelings for me that i couldnt reciprocate bcz i was just attracted to them and wanted to me friends with them and i thought thats what romantic attraction was. i literally remember telling someone abt someone i liked an they were like "why dont u ask them out?" an my answer was just that i was trying to find reasons not to and i couldnt. cuz i was attracted to them and liked spending time with them and liked being their friend but i was so so happy not being in a romantic relationship anymore and i couldnt shake the feeling that if i got into another one even with the perfect person it was literally gonna ruin my life and i would have to pretend to have feelings that i didnt have.
idk im frustrated that i hadnt considered it sooner but its also kinda exciting to discover something abt urself an ur sexuality. like this label brings me the same joy that other labels that ive discovered fit me do like i feel like how i felt when i came to terms w being trans an being bisexual. i feel like im 13 again finding trans and bisexual youtubers and being like "??? there are others?" like ppl dont talk abut it as much w being aro and ace bcz those are defined by the absence of a feeling rather than the presence of one but it really can be just as exciting to find out that you're aro or ace as it can be to discover that you're a lesbian or gay or transgender or something.
like not to be cheesy but discovering that i could just. have friends and also have sex made everything kinda click in my head for me. like literally i felt like a more complete person. experiencing that and realizing like. oh. this is amazing this is literally all i want like nothing is missing. i literally just dont have to do romance stuff like no ones making me do that why did i think i have to do that. like oh my god this is such a good feeling i really can do whatever i want forever.
this post doesnt rly have a point exactly i just kinda have a lot of feelings to get out. i love you aromantic ppl i love being aromantic it fucking rules actually. every aromantic person whos posted abt their experience an helped me get comfortable w the label i owe u a hundred billion dollars jesus christ i love you guys

All My Roads Lead Back to You Part 10
My posting schedule went a tad skiwampus with the First Kiss fic and with it being Memorial Day tomorrow and all that entails with my family I’ll be too busy to post. So...you get this today!
Dustin tells Eddie what really went down with Steve’s last partner Andy. Edie and Harri are beyond thrilled about their dads friendship blossoming. And Steve’s views on fantasy novels are the author’s own (no hate in the comments and tags please).
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9
***
Band practice rolled around again and Steve was finally able to use Dustin’s new ear plugs. The little twerp was right. They fit snugly in the ear without feeling like he was under water. He sat in the front room reading, nearby the garage in case they needed anything.
There was a knock on the door and Steve looked up to see Eddie smiling at him.
“Eddie!” he said with a smile. He scrambled to take out the plugs and put back in his hearing aid. “Are they done already?” He looked at his watch, but it read barely after eight.
Eddie grinned back. “Nah, just wanted to say hi. I got done with my stuff early and figured it would be fun to spend it with company.”
Steve pulled off his glasses and put them away. He was about to set the book next them when it was snatched out his hands.
“Good Omens?” Eddie asked, with a raised eyebrow.
Steve laughed. “Jeff lent it to me. It’s not bad.”
Eddie’s eyes went wide. “Not bad? You are calling on of the best fantasy novels of our generation ‘not bad’.”
Steve shrugged. “It’s not my thing I guess.”
Eddie pressed his fingers into his eye frustration. “You’re going to finish it, at least, I hope.”
Steve smiled up at him. “Sure. It’s not like I hate it or anything. I’m enjoying it, I’m just not...um...” He pursed his lips together.
“No, please go on,” Eddie said in that teasing tone Steve missed.
“Freaking out over it?” Steve finished with a grimace.
Eddie laughed. “God, man. Do you ever change?”
Steve rolled his eyes and scoffed. “I think we both know that I’ve changed a lot since high school.”
Eddie threw himself next to Steve on the sofa. “Nah. You would call Tommy H. and Carol off all the time. I think you just realized you didn’t have to pretend to be something you weren’t.”
Steve blushed. “Thanks, man. But I’m only a barely reformed mean girl.”
Eddie laughed. “Okay, maybe a little.”
They sat there talking about the fantasy books that Steve had read and what his favorites were.
“I enjoyed the ‘Incarnations of Immortality’ by Piers Anthony up until the last one,” Steve admitted.
“Evil was soo good,” Eddie agreed, “it was hard to come with a finale that came close to that brilliance.”
“Exactly!” Steve replied excitedly. “Time was a little weird.”
Eddie rolled his eyes. “And boring too. Who would have thought that someone living backwards could be so uninteresting!”
Steve laughed.
And it was then that Edie and Harri came into the room.
Eddie looked over at his son with a smile. “You guys done?”
Harri nodded. “Yeah. I’m ready to go whenever you are.”
Eddie patted Steve on the knee and then used it to help him stand. “See you around, Harrington.” He winked.
Steve grinned back. “Laters, Munson.”
After Harri and Eddie left Edie turned to her dad and raised an eyebrow. “That was certainly interesting.”
“What?” Steve asked as he put on his glasses to go back to his book.
“You looked friendly.”
Steve looked up at her over his glasses. “I’m not sure you’re aware of this, but we were friends at one point.”
“You know you keep saying that,” Edie said, flopping on the sofa next to him. “But like how?”
“Turns out that we had more in common than we thought,” he said, setting the book aside. He knew he wasn’t going to get back to it at this point.
“Like what?” she asked, curling up to his side.
Steve put his arm around her and pulled her in close. “Our music tastes, for one. He thought I would be like Aunt Nancy and like pop and synth. But I was closer to Robin’s tastes with bands like The Cure, Depech Mode, and REM. Which aligned closer to his tastes of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Dio...the list goes on. I opened up his mind to other genres of music and he helped find metal that wouldn’t make head hurt.”
“That’s so cool,” Edie said.
“I got him into mysteries and he got me into fantasy books,” Steve continued, softly stroking her hair. “Uncle Dusty kept trying to push fantasy on me. But not Eddie. He’d listen to my tastes and found books he’d thought I’d like.”
“Sounds like a good guy,” Edie murmured, almost asleep.
“He was,” Steve said. “After your mother and I finalized the divorce, I tried reaching out. But it wasn’t a good time. They were in the middle of the surrogacy of Harri and I was in a bad place. Jeff told me that Jay was good for Eddie and wait until after the baby was born if I still wanted to be friends.”
“And did you want to be friends?” she slurred, seconds from sleep.
“No, honey,” Steve said as she drifted off to sleep. “I was more in love with him than I’d ever been.”
*
Edie woke up on sofa, her pillow under her head and her blanket over her body. When she was little Steve would carry her to bed, but she had long outgrew his ability to do so. But he always went out of his way to make her comfortable.
She got ready for school and kissed him goodbye. He had an early meeting at work and she had drive herself again. She didn’t mind driving, but she missed their talks on the way to and from school.
When she got to school Harri was waiting for her. “Hey, Miss Thing!”
Edie fist bumped him. “H-man! To what do I owe the pleasure of your company on this fine Thursday in hell?”
Harri laughed. “You know, it wasn’t until our dads met that I realized how much you remind me of mine.”
Edie giggled. “Is he an over the top nerd with dramatic tendencies, too?”
Harri looked her in the eye and said, “Yes.”
Edie’s giggle turned into a full on belly laugh. “Duly noted.”
“So...our dads were looking pretty cozy on your couch last night,” he said, wagging his eyebrows suggestively.
Edie rolled her eyes. “I know, right? Dad swears that they were just catching up.”
“Same,” Harri said. “But my dad is smiling more in the last week then he has the five years since my Papa died.”
Eddie waved her hand dramatically. “My dad was singing Judas fucking Priest in the kitchen. I didn’t even know he knew what metal even was!”
“That is incredible,” Harri said. “Judas Priest is one of my dad’s favorite bands.”
Edie scoffed. “Color me not surprised.”
“I think they’ve got too many hangups with each other to get together,” Harri said, pushing his finger tips against each other, “like a couple. But it would be cool if they became friends again.”
“Yeah.”
*
Steve walked into his meeting with Dustin and his top two techs with a whistle on his lips and spring in his step.
“Dude!” Dustin said with grin. “Looking good, Steve-o. What’s got you in such a good mood?”
Steve just shrugged and winked.
“So I hear Eddie’s back in town,” Dustin said, aiming for casual and missed by a mile.
Steve barked out a laugh. “Like you didn’t know that before I did. But yes, I’ve seen him...um...three times now?”
Dustin’s eyes went wide and huffed a laugh. “Three? I thought Edie only had her band practice on Wednesday. That’s twice, Steve. When did you see him the third time?”
“Wait...” Steve said. “Who said anything about seeing him at Edie’s band practice?”
Dustin rolled his eyes. “Eddie did. When he asked for you number?”
Steve huffed. “Right.” He turned to the other two techs. “So what have you got for me?”
Dustin eyed him suspiciously. “Don’t think I didn’t notice you deflecting the question, Steve. I will get it out of you later.”
Steve grinned. “You could try. Or you could ask Eddie. He seems more willing to talk about it then I am.”
“I wonder why that is,” Dustin said.
Steve shrugged, but the meeting continued without a hitch. All the while Dustin kept glancing over at Steve, a knowing look in his eye.
Steve would just duck his head to hide his smile and Dustin would be forced to go back to paying attention to the meeting.
After Steve left, Dustin pulled out his phone and called Eddie. “You know, when I told you to stop running away from Steve, I wasn’t expecting you to run toward him.”
Eddie laughed. “Blame Harri and Edie for that one. I got told by Harri that if I broke up their band he would release my baby pictures online for everyone to see.”
Dustin blinked and then shrugged. “Yeah, okay. So you decided to what? Befriend Steve?”
“Right in one, Dusty-bun,” Eddie agreed.
Dustin rolled his eyes. “I hate that my mom taught you that.”
“Hey, hey,” Eddie said all seriousness. “We do not disrespect Claudia Henderson, not ever.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Dustin grumped. “So, the reason I’m calling is to ask you not to fuck this up. And I’m going to asking Steve, too, just so you know this isn’t pick on Eddie day. You two were the closest things I had to older brothers and it killed me when you guys tore each other apart. I just want to see you be friends again.”
Eddie let out a shuddering sigh. “I know. I’m sorry I kept forcing you to pick sides. That wasn’t fair. You were helping him with his hearing and I was being a little bitch.”
Dustin sighed. “Maybe just a little one.”
“I’m not going to date him,” Eddie swore into the resulting silence. “I can’t put myself out there like that.”
Dustin sighed again. “I doubt you’d get him to even try if you wanted to.”
“Edie said his last partner cheated on him,” Eddie said softly.
Dustin flopped into his desk chair and threw his head back. “It was more than that. Edie doesn’t know and the only reason I do, is because I was with Steve when it happened.”
“What did happened?” Eddie asked, a frown evident in his voice. “How bad could it possibly be?”
“Like walking in on your partner participating in a gang bang, him and two other guys banging some chick in your bed, levels of bad.”
“Fuck!”
“That’s certainly what they were doing, yes,” Dustin said. “It broke Steve. Like really bad.”
Eddie’s breath became ragged as he fought down his temper. “He didn’t deserve that.”
Dustin choked back tears. “No he didn’t. I can’t go into more than that. But, fuck, man. He was a wreck.”
“And so he swore off dating?” Eddie asked, his voice cracking with emotion.
“Yeah,” Dustin whispered. “So be gentle. Go slow. And of course I’ll tell Steve the same about you. But I just wanted to let you know why.”
Eddie sighed. “Yeah. Of course. Thanks for telling me.”
“Bye Eddie.”

Insufferable (5/7)
Getting close to the endgame here, I think! I’ve been excited about this chapter of the Vox sickfic for a while. Previous chapters: 1 2 3 4
Next chapters: 6 7
Wavs: 1 3
————————————————
If Velvette believed in prayer, she would be praying for a miracle right now. Of course, ending up in hell tended to make one think that any god would be unlikely to help out. So she resigned herself to hoping for a new development.
When Vox stumbled out from the bedroom, he was lacking all of the enthusiasm and energy he’d had the previous times. His screen was full of tiny cracks, though it was unclear if this was a broken screen or just a malfunctioning display. The center of his screen had a bright spot but everything else was dull. “Ugh, what time is it?”
“Morning, Vox. It’s 10.”
“Shit,” he said, rubbing his sore head. “Didn’t I have an interview today?”
Velvette shook her head. “That was yesterday, and it’s already taken care of. All you need to do is rest, love.”
Vox sighed and collapsed on the couch, as if he had used up all of the day’s energy just by standing and saying a few words. “I feel fucking awful.”
Velvette just nodded. “I know.”
“And I just…” he paused, turning his head around the room. “Where’s that radio coming from? Why the fuck is there a radio in here?”
“I’m not hearing anything,” Velvette said. “And besides, there’s no more functioning electronics in this room anyway.”
“I could have sworn I heard… hhh’tzzzch!” A small shower of sparks fell from his screen.
“And that’s why there’s no functioning electronics in this room,” she added, resisting the urge to roll her eyes. “How’s that virus scan coming?” she asked, approaching his display.
“I have a virus?” Vox’s face froze, not like a broken program but rather like a shattered hope.
“And memory loss.”
“You sure you don’t hear that radio?”
She shook her head. “And hallucinations, apparently.”
“What are you guys talking about?” Val asked, walking in.
“Val, please tell me you hear that fucking obnoxious radio static.”
Val raised an eyebrow. “What the fuck are you talking about? All I hear is your fans whirring like a helicopter.”
“Fucking hell, I can hear his cackling too. Buzzing static and maniacal laughter and… heh’TZZZZCHT! Constant irritation.” He clawed at his arms. Valentino left the room and came back with an anti-itch lotion, rubbing it in generously. “Thanks, Val, but I don’t think that’s actually doing anything.”
Valentino shrugged. “Worth a try. Speaking of worth a try…” he found the volume controls on Vox’s side and turned them down. “Do you still hear the static now?” Vox’s mouth moved in response, but no sound emerged. “Damn it, he’s lost his voice again!” He blew some smoke into Vox’s vents and Velvette stared at him incredulously.
“You turned his speakers down, idiot! Of course you can’t hear him!” It was very strange to watch Vox sneeze with no sound. Just the flickering screen, the odd facial expressions, and the flurry of sparks. Eventually, she turned the volume back up just in time to catch the tail end of the fit.
“HHHH’TDDZZZZZSH! Heh’TZZZCHT! Hhh’TTTTZZZZZZCHHH!” Vox deliberately aimed the last few at Val to express his discomfort, and the other jumped from the shock. “Thanks for nothing,” he groaned, clawing at his throat. He grimaced and launched into a hacking cough, looking incredibly frustrated and confused when it was done. “You guys didn’t suddenly adopt a pet while I was asleep, did you?” Velvette and Val both shook their heads. “And Val, you haven’t seen Angel recently?”
“No, why?”
“Because I have the distinct sensation of fur in my mouth and it just won’t go away no matter what I do. Fucking gross.”
A warning popped up on Vox’s screen. “Sensors appear to be malfunctioning.” Yeah, no shit. Vox’s fans kicked into an even higher gear than the Vees had thought possible and he began to shiver so violently Velvette wondered if he was going to shut down for the fourth time since this disaster began.
“V-V-V-V-V-V…” Velvette and Val made eye contact with each other and then with Vox, having no way to tell which of them he was calling for. “V-V-Val, c-c-could you get me some… hhh’tzzzsh! S-s-some w-water?” Val nodded and came back with a cup of warm water. He handed it to Vox, whereupon it promptly fell out of the weak grip of the TV demon’s trembling hands. “Sorry.” Val began cleaning up the spill and winced when a sneeze from Vox electrocuted him through the puddle. “Sorry again.”
Velvette searched the cupboards for a pitcher with a spout, then filled it with more warm water and poured it into Vox’s mouth. She had to pause a few times to let him swallow, but eventually all the water was in his system. A small smile spread across his dim screen and he seemed a little calmer, though still clearly quite pathetic and uncomfortable.
His eyes went wide as he stared at a spot in the room. “Wait, what? Alastor… no. No, he can’t be here. There’s no way he’d get past security. It’s just… why does it feel so real?” He buried his face in the couch, trying to dull his senses but nothing worked. He began crying again, this time deep, wracking sobs that shook the whole couch as his fist pounded limply against the pillow. “Please, God, no! I can’t do this anymore!” Valentino’s eyes flitted towards the guns, but Velvette shook her head. Vox looked up at both of them, his screen crackling with energy that was somehow both weak and desparate. “How the hell am I supposed to deal with this?”
Before either of them could formulate a response, another warning popped up on the screen. “Virus removal has been halted due to insufficient resources. Recommend upgrading to stronger anti-virus protection… Checking for updates… No updates available. Try again later.” From the way Vox’s face fell so far it was practically off screen, it was clear he was aware of the message. “No! Please! I can’t… I’ll do anything!”
“Oh ho ho, anything, you say? This will be fun.” Velvette and Val winced as the voice rang out through the room, first from the sheer volume of it and then from the realization that now they could hear it too. This was far from the new development Velvette had been hoping for. But it was the new development they would have to face.

It was Hopper’s fault. He was the one who decided to buy the three kids, cooped up inside the cabin, an unholy number of craft supplies to keep them from flinging books off the shelves or causing town-wide power outages; that happened only once when Mike Wheeler decided to scare the daylights out of Leia after they had just finished some slasher film. With the craft supplies came tubes of glitter, and how was Sunshine supposed to know glitter was so messy?
“Oh, my God!” she cried, scrubbing her hands feverishly in the kitchen sink as Leia laughed manically on the floor, clutching her stomach with hands stained with pink and white glitter. The light above the dining room table flickered in the rhythm with Leia’s giggles, only enhancing the headache that bloomed inside Sunshine’s skull; it wasn’t a power-induced headache, but rather a babysitting-induced one.
Glitter clung to her hands, it itched her cheek, and out of the corner of her eyes, she spotted it tangled in her hair. “This stuff won’t come off! I’m supposed to go to the mall after I leave here.” She didn’t want to waltz into Starcourt, the newest attraction in Hawkins, looking like a rouge art project. Since the summer started, the mall had been swarmed with masses of teenagers and she felt like, no matter how she presented herself, their eyes lingered on her judgmentally. She was an outsider; it was like they could smell it on her. All Sunshine wanted to do was blend in with the teenagers with pretty teased hair and clunky jewelry. The glitter would not help keep eyes off of her. It was hard enough with her hand-me-down clothes she didn’t know exactly how to style and her struggle to understand people her age.
Leia eventually ended her fit of laughter and sat upright. “Who cares? It’s not like Steve’s going to refuse to serve you ice cream just because you look like a disco ball.” That only made Sunshine groan louder in frustration. Leia picked herself off the ground and began to clean off the counter of their glittery mess, but she paused and let out a huff of air. “The door’s closed again.”
If Sunshine’s abilities had been anything like Leia or El’s, triggered by their emotions- she probably would have illuminated the cabin with a solar flare. Luckily, they weren’t, and instead of causing any damage, she turned off the sink and hastily grabbed a dish towel to dry them as she marched toward El and Leia’s shared bedroom. She gave El and Mike three knocks before she swung the door open.
A twin set of wide brown eyes and flushed cheeks stared back at her. Tossing the dishrag over her shoulder and placing her hands on her hips, Sunshine looked between the couple with pure exasperation clearly written on her lightly tanned face. “The door stays open! How many times do I have to tell you guys that?”
Mike rolled his eyes and leaned lazily against El’s side. “Come on, Sunshine. That’s Hopper’s rule and he’s not here.” El nodded her head along with Mike’s words and smiled sweetly at her sister like she thought she could persuade her like easily.
“I don’t care. It’s still Hopper’s house and he only has, like, three rules you guys have to follow. So please, just keep the door open, okay?”
Rule one: Eggos are not a proper meal (unless it is breakfast). Two: No using your abilities on your siblings or others unless it’s a life-or-death situation. Three: Boyfriends can only be in the bedroom if the door stays open.
Hopper’s list of rules, which he left written and stuck to the fridge with a magnet, was small and simple. He also heavily hinted that it was more than okay for Sunshine to drag Mike out of the house by his ear if she wanted.
“Why are you being such a stick in the mud?” he asked. Between the glitter stuck to her, the fact that Luke hadn’t left his room all day, and the smirk on Mike’s face, Sunshine was close to losing it. Babysitting used to be fun, and she still enjoyed the kids more than she cared to admit to them, but boy did they know how to push every single one of her buttons.
She refrained from dragging Mike out of the cabin, though. Instead, she turned to her sister and said, “Keep the door open. Got it?”
El sighed but agreed, and Sunshine left the two of them alone to continue kissing and giggling like they were the only two people left on planet Earth.
Back in the kitchen, Leia was cleaning the glitter from the floor and quietly humming to the tune of one of Hopper’s old records. She looked up at Sunshine’s footsteps, her eyes falling onto the skirt of the dress she wore.
“You’re spreading this shit like it’s a disease,” Leia snorted. “It’s on your dress now.” Sunshine looked at where her hands rested on her hips and saw little sparkly flecks left behind. She threw her hands up in defeat and fell into one of the dining room chairs. Her fingers went to her hair, and she started pulling at the knots, untangling them from the wind on her bike ride over and, hopefully, pulling some of the glitter out before she left for the mall.
Her dark curls had grown out to about the middle of her chest, and she could easily pull it back and out of her face, which she hadn’t been able to do since she was a little kid. Her mom enjoyed braiding Sunshine’s hair and teasing it up into all kinds of different styles. It was a simple thing, but it allowed both women to get back some of the mother-daughter time that was stolen from them.
It was funny, in a sad kind of way, how something as simple as hair had become so important to Sunshine. In the Lab, their hair had been forcibly shaven, but she hadn’t thought much of it at the time. Since her time before the Lab was so blurry, she hadn’t remembered what it was like to have hair long enough to run her finger through. Her shaved head was all she knew. When her operations were over, her hair grew out just slightly. She would trace her fingers along the pretty figures inside picture books they had inside the Rainbow Room with long hair and wish long to mirror them. Then, she and El escaped, and her hair became the last of her concerns. But when the threat of monsters was gone and she was no longer riddled with the guilt and sorrow of her sister’s death, Sunshine had time to think about mundane things such as hairstyles and how she looked. Her hair was the one thing she felt she had full control of. There was still an internal struggle with her mind and her body; she felt tainted, like both her mind and body didn’t completely belong to her. But her hair was hers and only hers.
She pulled the soft curls back and off of her neck and tied it up with a blue scrunchie she borrowed from Leia.
“I don’t know what El sees in him,” Leia said, loud enough that the couple probably heard. “I mean, why do she and Max want to spend all of their time with stupid boys?”
Sunshine shrugged her shoulders. “They really like their stupid boys. One day, you might also find a stupid boy you like.”
Leia scrunched up her face in disgust. She shook her head as if that was the most insane thing anyone had ever said to her. “No way! Not happening. If I wanted to waste my time kissing something full of Cheeto dust and no common sense, I’d kiss one of the chairs at the arcade.”
“Gross.”
“It’s not more gross than kissing Mike or Lucas. Or Dustin, Will, any of ‘em.” Leia sounded sure of herself, so Sunshine didn’t push it any further. It wasn’t like she was in any place to dish out relationship advice. Her thirteen-year-old sister knew more about relationships than she did. All of Sunshine’s knowledge came from the cheesy romantic movies she wanted, or what little she’s heard about them from Nancy, Steve, and Jonathan. It was another aspect of life that she felt behind on, but she was a bit too scared to explore the ideas of boys, both because she figured it’d be impossible for her to have a normal dating life considering her circumstances and because she didn’t take much interest in the boys she saw around Hawkins.
Sure, Sunshine recognized a cute boy when she spotted them, or when Nancy pointed them out and tried to get Sunshine to talk to them, but the idea of dating some random boy she met at the mall made her feel odd. She liked to think it was because she was still trying to find her footing in the world, but she wasn’t entirely sure that was it.
“You don’t think it’s gross, the whole kissing thing?” Leia asked curiously, sitting at the table across from Sunshine.
“I don’t know,” she shrugged. “I haven’t gotten the chance to kiss a stupid boy, yet.” And she definitely hadn’t thought about it…at all.
“Really? You haven’t kissed anyone yet?” Leia looked at her oddly with narrowed eyes before she leaned back in her chair and said, “Huh, weird.”
A light scoff came from Sunshine; she was a little offended. “It’s not weird! I just…I have other things to worry about.” And even if she did take an interest in the boys in the mall or around town, she doubted they wanted to kiss the weird girl who came back to life after ten years.
“No, that’s not what I mean. I just figured…” Leia trailed off, biting her tongue and shaking her head. “Never mind.”
“What? You figured what?”
Leia sighed. “I figured you would have kissed your stupid sailor man by now! I mean, you and Steve are practically dating at this point.” The casualness in Leia’s voice caught Sunshine so off guard. Heat instantly rose to her cheeks and her eyes widened almost comically, she was sure.
“What? No!” she choked out. Leia cocked her head to the side as if to say ‘really?’ but Sunshine held firm to her answer, which was the truth. “We are not dating! And we definitely kissed! Steve is my friend. We’re friends!”
Holding up her hands in defense, Leia tried and failed to hide the smirk that tugged on the corners of her lips. “Okay, geez! No need to get so defensive. I’m just saying, if you wanted to kiss a stupid boy, I’m sure he’d volunteer.”
Sunshine pushed herself up from the table and retreated to finish cleaning the kitchen. She didn’t quite understand why her face felt so hot or why the mere thought of kissing Steve made her feel…weird, which was ridiculous. Feelings were a messy thing that she was coming to realize. And they were very confusing to one girl who still had a lot to learn about the world.
She didn’t want to think about it anymore. “I’m going to check on Luke,” she said before she climbed the ladder that led into a small loft in the cabin that Hopper had converted into a room for Luke. He hadn’t been out of his room since Sunshine had arrived that morning. Hopper had told her Luke had been awake most of the night from another nightmare. He had tried to coax Luke out to talk about it, but the nightmares he had were not of monsters or the Lab, they were about the future of others.
Standing at the top of the ladder, Sunshine knocked against the railing. It took a moment, but his voice floated from the far end of the loft, telling her to come in. She crawled inside and saw him sitting in front of a painting easel with dark circles under his glassy, blue eyes.
The loft was covered in drawings, but they were the glittery ones Leia and El decorated their room with. Instead, Luke only drew what he saw in his visions. That’s what he said, anyway, but to Sunshine they all looked like thick, messy strokes of pain that were impossible to make sense of. He pinned them to his walls, left them in stacks on his nightstand, and scattered across his floor.
“Are you ready to talk about it?” Sunshine asked, carefully watching as her brother hung his head and let his pain brushes rest on the floor beside him. He pulled up his legs to his chest and hugged them. “Hopper said you were up most of the night. You know, you can talk to him too, right?”
It was more of an adjustment for Luke than Leia to be taken in by Hopper. Leia was warmer and more welcoming to the idea of a home and someone to take care of her. Luke, on the other hand, had taken up the responsibility of looking out for his sister. In many ways, he acted like the older siblings, even though they were twins, and no one knew who was technically born first. Without the distraction of taking care of Leia, Luke was left to get lost inside his head more, and sometimes he fell so deep into his mind that it was impossible to pull him out. But Sunshine tried every time.
“I know,” Luke sighed. “But he won’t get it. No one does.” Sunshine sat beside him, as close as she could without touching him. She grabbed one of his shirts left discarded on the floor and wrapped it around her hand before she reached out and grabbed a hold of Luke’s hand. He squeezed her hand through the fabric but kept his gaze on his newest painting hung on the easel.
“Just because he won’t understand exactly what you’re feeling, doesn’t mean he won’t listen. He cares about you, Luke.” He buried his head in his knees and said nothing for a long moment. Sunshine was patient. She stayed at his side, rubbing her thumb across the back of his hand through the fabric. She wanted to wrap him up in her arms and pull every awful nightmare-vision from his delicate head. Maybe if she had been given abilities like Ivy, she could have helped. But there was nothing more she could have done than hold his hand and listen to him.
After a couple of minutes of silence, he looked at her with an unreadable expression. “I’m just trying to figure things out before it’s too late. I can’t be too late.”
“Too late with what?”
He didn’t answer. He looked at his easel and pointed with his unoccupied hand to the two pieces of paper that hung side by side on it. “Do these look like they match up? Do they look like, maybe they could be from the same event?” he asked.
The painting on the right was a little easier to make out. A white silhouette stood at the bottom of the page with one arm raised in the air. The figure was surrounded by thick strokes of white and yellow that encased most of the page. Black paint bordered the page like it was being pushed back by the white and yellow. The painting on the left was similar but opposite. A slightly larger, black silhouette was at the bottom of the page, surrounded by a mix of black, gray, and dark red that was only broken by white and yellow paint along the corners of the page.
“Maybe,” Sunshine answered, not sure what she was looking at exactly. “They look sort of similar. Was this what was in your nightmare last night?”
He looked conflicted for a moment but decided against hiding his worries from her. “Sort of.” The words came out strained from his lips as if they were hard for him to get out. Sunshine gave his hand a reassuring squeeze and waited for him to continue. “It wasn’t like the dreams of my visions that I’ve had before. I felt like my brain was trying to…to pair up visions, maybe? They played out together, the visions like it was one singular vision and not from two different people. I think it was trying to show me something I needed to know.”
“And that’s never happened before?”
Luke shook his head. “I don’t know how to explain it, exactly. They’re usually cut up and when they do come together, which is rare, I can easily tell the difference between them and who they belong to. But this time, I knew they were from two different people, but I couldn’t tell where one ended and the other began because…because they were happening at the same time.”
Sunshine had never seen Luke so distraught over one of his visions, not recently. “Who’s futures are they?”
“Max’s,” he said, chewing down on his bottom lip. “And yours.” Sunshine swallowed thickly. It was her future that was keeping him up at night. She couldn’t help but feel guilty about it.
Luke scooted closer to his paintings and pointed at the white silhouette. “That’s you. It took me a while to realize it, though, the scene happened so fast that I almost forgot about it until I saw Max’s future. They came together last night. And this,” Luke pointed to the black silhouette on the other page. “Is Max’s stepbrother, Billy.”
Unease ran down Sunshine’s spine, but she tried to hide it on her face. Why could she and Billy share a piece of their future? She was sure their issues with him had ended after the fight last fall; since then, he had left all of them alone and resorted to tossing looks in her and Steve’s direction inside of fists.
Sunshine’s fingers toyed with the sun pendant around her neck out of habit and in an attempt to calm her nerves over the whole ordeal. “Are you sure that you didn’t see the fight that happened at Will’s last fall?” Even if Billy, heaven forbid, tried to do something to Max or Lucas, he was still just a teenage boy and wasn’t exactly a colossal threat to Sunshine. His temper was terrible, but she was confident she could handle him fairly easily if need be.
“Max grabbed my hand after the fight. I don’t see the past, only the future, which means, whatever this is, it hasn’t happened yet. But it didn’t look like you were fighting him, necessarily. Like I said, it happened so fast and hard to see. It was dark, then light, then smokey. Or blurry? It was a lot.” He rubbed his tired eyes and stifled a yawn. “But both visions, from you and Max, held the same feeling. It made my chest feel tight and I couldn’t breathe. It was awful.”
His frown and glassy eyes made Sunshine feel helpless. There was only so much comfort she could give him. Her thoughts drifted onto Ivy and how she, despite not having anyone to hold and comfort her, always knew how to make Sunshine feel better under the worst circumstances. She wanted to do the same for the kids, but it was difficult to ease the worry that followed Luke around like his shadow.
“Listen, whatever happens, you know there’s a whole group of people who are here to help us. Whatever you saw, we’ll deal with it, and we’ll get through it together.”
Luke hung his head once more. “You can’t promise that.”
“Yes, I can.” Sunshine had known most of their little Hawkins group for almost three years, and that was more than enough time to know they’d be at their side in an instant if something else were to go wrong. She understood the weight on Luke’s shoulders, to want to save everyone all on his own, but she wouldn’t let him or any of her siblings fight that burden alone.
Standing up, Luke crossed his bedroom and pulled down a painting from the wall. He handed it to Sunshine and hovered anxiously above her, with an expression that had shifted from worry to stone.
The painting was drenched in blood-red paint and little shadowy figures that looked vaguely human were dotted throughout the page. “What is this?” she asked, despite being a little afraid of the answer.
“If I don’t figure out what happens in our future, there might not be one.”
Sunshine’s gaze flickered between the painting in her hand and the one on the easel. Her stomach turned uncomfortably as the images filled her with a familiar dread that had been following her around since she escaped the Lab. The future was supposed to hold something sweet and light after their freedom from Dr. Brenner and the Lab, but it didn’t seem to be changing. But maybe it still could; maybe there was still time to change their future.
Standing up, Sunshine placed a careful hand on Luke’s sweatshirt-clad shoulder. “I know that you feel like all of this is on you, but it’s not. None of this is.” She gestured to his painting-filled room. “You have us. We’re always going to have us.”
Luke took the painting back from her and ran a finger across the page, deep in thought. Sunshine could tell he was still fighting a battle with himself inside his head, but he nodded and tossed the painting onto his bed, probably too tired to think about it anymore.
“Come on, I’ll make you lunch,” Sunshine said.
“Can we have Eggos, please?” She supposed breaking one of Hopper’s rules wouldn’t be the end of the world.
“I think taking an ice cream cone to the eye would be less painful than watching you try to flirt.”
Steve sighed deeply as three girls left his new job with ice cream cones and his dignity. He was positive that the world was out to get him, why else would he be stuck in an awful sailor uniform and manage to strike out with every single girl that entered Starcourt Mall? And, to make things even better, his two coworkers spent more time squishing any of his remaining dignity underneath their stupid, doodled-on Convers.
“Question,” Tamera Willow asked, leaning against the back counter with a smirk on her lips. “Have you ever talked to a human woman before? Or is this your first time?”
Steve groaned and replied, “I hate you guys.” He didn’t know what was wrong with him. Normally, hitting on girls was his specialty. It used to be so easy for him. Granted, most things had been easier before he discovered that monsters and other dimensions existed. Had monster hunting somehow ruined his flirting abilities? Or had Billy Hargrove knocked them right out of his brain when he smashed a dinner plate over his head?
“Lighten up, dingus. At least you get another tally.” Robin Buckley, Steve's other obnoxious coworker, uncapped a dry-erase marker and added another tally under the ‘you suck’ column on the whiteboard. They had turned his life into a humiliating game for their own amusement. He was 0-2 that afternoon, and he had a feeling his luck was not going to turn out before his shift was up.
Ignoring Tamera and Robin, Steve settled his gaze out among Starcourt’s food court. The mall had quickly become the hot place to be that summer. It was constantly flooded with people and illuminated with neon lights. Kids were left to roam free, teenagers spent their days either working at one of the many shops or spending their parent's money, and adults were either dragged around by their youngest kids or they used the mall to escape the summer heat. Normally, somewhere like Starcourt would be favored by Steve, but his dad forced him to get a job and of course, he ended up at the one with the worst uniform and coworkers.
“Do you want some real advice?” Tamera asked, to which Steve immediately replied, ‘No.’ She didn’t care, though, and gave it to him anyway. “You’re coming on too strong, Popeye. Like, I think you’re scaring customers off. Even if you want to get into someone’s pants, don’t make it obvious.”
Steve sighed and spun around to face the two girls. “I don’t want in anyone’s pants. I’m just…ugh! I don’t know what I’m trying to do.” He really didn’t, which was weird for him. Steve tried to flirt, and to be fair, he probably did come off too strong. But, at the same time, he wasn’t as into it as he should have been. It was like he was ruining his own chances, and he couldn’t figure out why.
“Oh, hey! It’s Steve’s better half,” Robin said, confusing Steve for a moment before a familiar voice rang out.
“Ahoy!” Sunshine greeted them with a smile, which Steve found himself mirroring out of habit.
She was more dressed up than usual, in a light pink dress and brown flannel- probably borrowed from Hopper- tied around her waist. She waved at them as she entered and showed off her series of strategically placed bracelets to hide the little tattoo on her wrist.
As the spring had shifted into summer, Sunshine seemed to be fitting in even more with the teenagers of Hawkins. Of course, she was very much unlike anyone in Hawkins, for a multitude of reasons. It was like watching someone become more of their person and grow more comfortable with themselves. Everyone seemed to be moving on from their runs in with monsters and other horrors of their past. Sunshine seemed to be enjoying life in Hawkins more with the return of her siblings, who had been taken in by Hopper. It was almost like they’d all been around forever.
“Hey Sunshine,” Steve said. “How was babysitting?”
Her shoulders slumped slightly as she approached the counter. “I feel like I’ve aged ten years in one morning.”
“Well, you know what they say,” Robin jumped into their conversation. “Kids suck the life right out of you.”
Sunshine laughed softly. “Yeah. Mike and El refuse to leave each other alone for five seconds. I’m worried they’re going to suffocate from all their kissing.”
“The honeymoon phase will wear off eventually,” said Steve. “Hopefully.” According to Sunshine, the new couple was either connected at the hip or talking about the other every chance they got.
“Honeymoon phase?” Sunshine furrowed her brows, and Steve caught sight of silver glitter that dotted her cheek and temple, probably from another one of Leia’s art projects. Apparently, the kid had taken up painting, like her twin brother, but she took her own creative liberties.
“Yeah, it’s like when a relationship is new and exciting and you don’t want to be away from that person for, like, even a second. And I guess you can’t blame them for that after…” Steve trailed off not wanting to violate any of their NDAs in front of Tamera or Robin.
Mike Wheeler had to watch his superpowered girlfriend nearly die defeating a monster before she showed up again nearly a year later dressed like someone from MTV only to have to close the Gate before they all died. That was a lot for anyone, especially for a kid. He couldn’t fathom being in Mike’s shoes. Well, he did believe his superpowered best friend was dead for ten years, and not a day went by where he didn’t want to spend it with Sunshine. Maybe he a Mike weren’t too different.
“I know. And I’m happy that El’s happy but Mike is a piece of work sometimes. I’m afraid that he’s one snarky comment away from Leia-” Sunshine cut herself off, probably about to mention something related to Leia’s powers. “Kicking him out of the cabin and locking the door.”
Out of Sunshine’s three siblings, Leia was the only one Steve had come to know the most. It started after he let Sunshine borrow his Walkman and Leia found it in her room. She ended up accidentally frying the thing and then broke down in tears when she was apologizing. Steve had to convince her it was okay, but he felt so bad about the whole thing that he ended up buying her own Walkman for what she and Luke deemed as their birthday. Since then, Leia and he have been swapping cassettes.
“Well, what about Luke?” Steve asked. Her brother was a lot harder to place. He never said much, at least not the few times Steve has been around him.
As soon as Steve asked, Sunshine’s whole demeanor changed. It was quick, probably not even noticed by Robin or Tamera, but Steve saw it. She brushed it off with a half-hearted laugh and said, “Oh, you know, the usual crisis.” That was all she needed to say for Steve to understand. The idea of someone being able to see the future was a tough pill to swallow, but from what Sunshine had told him, Luke was plagued with visions of it and he had a hard time dealing with whatever he’d seen. And that led to Sunshine worrying over him.
“These kids sound like a blast,” said Tamera. Sunshine replied with a nod and played with the chain of her necklace.
Changing the subject, Steve pointed his ice cream scooper toward the tubs of ice cream in the case. “You want the usual?” She didn’t even answer before Steve started making her order, which he as quickly memorized due to her frequent trips to the mall. Once he was done, he handed the cup of strawberry ice cream with whipped cream to her. The two lulled into their usual small talk as Robin and Tamera retreated to the backroom.

Donald Duck 90th Birthday Special: A Look At Mr Duck Steps Out
Tumblr media
Happy Birthday Donald! For those I haven't had a chance to tell, i'm a HUGE Donald Duck Fan. Easily my faviorite Disney Character and the best of the sensational six.... which Pluto is a part of for some godforsaken reason but you didn't hear to come me badmouth a cartoon dog, I didn't come here to do that, it's time to celebrate one of the best characters in all of ficiton. And that's not hyperbole: Donald is a versatile character: he's been the best dad ever, an absuive parent, a put upon dad raising three horrifying nephews, a loving boyfriend, a negelctful ass, a put upon worker in the nazi regime, a sailor, a soldier, a cabllero, a singer, a lover, a dreamer, me, an unstoppable force of rage, a heavily abused worker for a billionare, a fire fighter, a musketeer, owen an ostrich, owned a penguin, fought an elder god, been to the moon and back, reawakened a billionare's will to live, been a superhero, been in a collectable card game, had a goose eat everything in his kitchen and many more adventures i'm simply not aware of. Donald has done it all.
Donald is at his best though when he's the every man: he fucks up, get's frustrated and often fails, but keeps going anyway. He reminds us that failure or loosing your temper isn't the end, you can recover from it and even if you don't, that's life.
To Honor Him I was spoiled for choice with tons of Barks stories, a ducktales episode, and a quack pack episode that all fit.. but for 90 years, I wanted something special, something that captured the age of the character, the scope of what he's capable of and the humor all in one.
So I settled on this: I covered this short way back in my donald duck shortsravagangza years ago, but felt it deserved a closer look: This short is without a doubt my faviorite theatrical short. That is a large library and given my love of Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry, a tall order, and others certainly come close. I mean I bought a 40 short compliation called best of space jam just to get Hot Cross Bunny, it's a close race.. but it's one this short wins. It's got great timing, gorgeous animation and tons of great laughs and while it's throughly tied to the 40's it was born in, that creates an old fashiond charm to it. It's far and away one of disney's best cartoons ever, so if you please, join me under the cut to find out why.
Mr Duck Steps out came out in 1940 and is notable as the very first apperance of Daisy, and with an opener like this, it's easy to see why she stuck around.
It's also got a power house team behind it: Besides Disney's fantastic as always staff from them, it was directed by Jack King. Jack is someone I just really looked into and shame on me: With how much I love this short, I shoudl've done this way sooner because as it turns out King's career is drenched in Donald Duck Classics. King started his career as an animator, only moving up to director after leaving Disney to work at Warner Bros. His first efforts were the much malinged Buddy Cartoons, along with a few starring attempted star beans the cat.
Thankfully he moved back to Disney which not only bumped him up to director (Albeit uncredited because animation directors went uncredited back then which was awful), where he found his Niche: By then Donald Duck had started his solo career and King proceeded to direct most of his shorts from then on out exclusivley worked witht he duck.. and it was a match made in heaven. King perfectly got the duck's style, how to direct his temper and thus most of his shorts with donald are classics. A few duds from the ones of his I have seen but you can't win em all. He directed faviorites of mine such as Modern Inventions (His first Donald Duck Short), Donald's Ostrich, and the Hockey Champ and i'm defintely going to watch more
The other key to his success was another legend, the guy who made Donald what he is on screen and page Carl Barks. Yes something I often forget and the public at large seems to is Carl Barks was writer and story director on a LOT of Donald Duck Shorts. You can tell too as the more put upon everyman from his comics is present: He may not speak as much, but he's there. Barks really got how to bring out the best in donald and how to make him look good and with an all star team of animators. Combine him with a director who really got the character and you get magic.
Mr Duck Steps out Preemered on June 6th 1940, making this a celebration of it's 84th anniversary as well , if a few days late. It was distributed by RKO and other than that I don't have much. This short is great, I wish I knew more about it, let's begin.
The short has a simple setup: Donald in a banger outfit that's rightfully gotten a funko in Disney's 20th anniversary wave... which so far is donald doing a temper tantrum, in his black sailor suit from the comics, in this banger outfit and for some reason, with heart eyes. One of these things is out of place and it's the heart eyes. It's cute and all but the guy has a massive career and costumes to pull from. Come on.
At any rate Donald has a date tonight and does some really fun dancing to some 40's music. The dancing animation is REALLY fucking smooth and one of the best things this short has, with the moves being smooth as butter.
Unfortunately for him, his Nephew's want to tag along. I love them dancing right behind him and when he opens the door and realizes there there, using his cane like a hook to pull them back in the house.
Huey , Unsettling Yellow Dewey and Louie are prominent here and while I used to hate the classic versions for being identical i've mostly come around. I still PREFER that they have seperate distinct personalities, the Ducktales Reboot versions are still far and away the best, taking elements from different versions and separating them into three distinct people with designs that make it easy to tell them apart.
That said the three in one version CAN work: It worked in the comics as having three gave them more flexiblity and Scrooge more of a crew, yet characterization wise still fill just one slot, making a freudian trio with their uncles. Likewise they work very well when their the absolute worst, little hellions who are like living in a living nightmare and put their uncle through a LOT. There the numbers game means Donald can't beat them easily. It also works in more benign examples of showing him up like the hockey champ.
So for this short it works well that Donald's outnumbered: he rightfully wants a night to himself and while he shoudl've got a sitter, his frustration and antics towards the kids feel entirely understandable when they keep following him, taking his choclates for daisy and nearly getting strangled for it, back when that was a funny punchline and not child abuse.
Enter daisy complete with fan fare. I've always loved it, the fact she has a curtain to announce herself, the fact there's this random fan fare, the fact the fan fare dosen't land as much as this isn't a new character to modern viewers so much as "One of the core cast for 84 years now". I also love Donald's rebound of "Hehehe I brought my nephews, weh". Clarence Nash's delivery is great. His delivery as Daisy and the boys also works and feels mostly distinct, though I do get why June Foray and Tress MacNeile have both dubbed over him in some versions. I still go with the original but I get wanting a voice that actually sounds like daisy and not exactly like her boyfriend.
Donald gives the kids a quarter for ice cream, another delivery I love. While Tony Anselmo is my faviorite Donald, Nash really can't be understated: while the voice itself is impressive, how expressive he can get with it is remarkable, able to make donald angry, horny or happy as can be with ease. Screen Donald gets flack for not having his comics counterparts range, but I think with the right scripts, Nash gave donald a lot of great comedic range and had excellent timing, able to make what could've been just a goofy voice one of the best characters in animation. That little "heh" when he says he brought his nephews, the awkward way he says it as he's making it up on the spot it's so good.
So Donald gets to flirt with Daisy, who flirts with him with her ass
Tumblr media
How they made THIS sexy I don't know. Maybe i've just lost it. It's hard to tell. But it's also funny and Donald sadly dose'nt get a kiss as the little shits return and try to ruin his date because.. their bored? he tried to leave them behind? They have no souls just a styigan void where it would be?
They dance and that's really the bulk of the short as the boys cut in, Donald cuts back in after turning into a tiger, and it's all amazingly animated. Just fluid, gorgeous and hilaroius to look at. Really smooth stuff. I also like how happy and cheerful daisy is here. She still has some of her later pepper in how fast she moves, but I like her being upbeat but assertive over thier later status quo
Tumblr media
I love that short but I prefer them as a stable couple over bickering assholes.. or in the case of three Cabs Daisy an ABUSIVE asshole.
It all ends in the boys deciding to feed donald popcorn kernels, have them explode inside him and ... somehow that'd ruin the date. or kill him their fine with either. So we get a really fun climax as donald dances to the beat of the pop corn, daisy rolls with it and the boys play piano, a manequin like a base guitar and plungers. What makes it work best is not only how fun the animatoin is.. but that Donald comes out on top. The boys are pretty awful and Donald is fine to have one night ot himself. Still should've gotten that sitter but .. 40's. What can you do? He gets covered with kisses and wins the day. It's a sweet ending.
Overall this short is just masterful. I said what i could but it's a feast for the eyes ears and pancreas with some great gags, fast animation and is just.. a joy. It makes me happy every time I watch it and is easy to default to when I want to watch a disney short. It's on D+ if you have it in glorious hd and if not you can still find it on the internet archive, and I recommmend you go seek it out. It's only 9 minutes and every one of those is worth your time. Thanks for reading.

So, I started writing this snippet back in December, and it started based on the whole “and when dad came home…” line from Dean in season five. Obviously. I’m not sure if this will be included in my actual fic, but my timeline is that this happens when Sam is 11, since I couldn’t find a canon age. This is unedited, though I did read through it the other day, and it’s definitely painting John in a harsh light.
I don’t know that this fits all characteristics of how I see them, but like I said it’s unedited and I’m gonna stop stalling and just let you read if you so choose. Happy 4th of July.
TW: child abuse, canon typical violence,
Word count: 4,330
Flagstaff
Sam 11, Millie 13, and Dean 15 (we don't have a canon age for when he ran off.)
"Why do you guys have to go this time? And why can't Dean and I come too?"
Dean's head snaps towards Sam before he looks at me. And I try to hide the worry in my face, and ignore the tension growing in my shoulders as I turn away from the bag I'm packing.
Sammy's voice isn't scared, he's frustrated. I don't blame him. I'm just as tired of this shit as he is.
"Dad told you why. He needs Dean to work on research for that other case, and Dean hates doing stuff by himself. Besides. It's a simple salt and burn, we'll be a week, tops." I smile at him, hoping it's reassuring as I reach up to ruffle his hair. When did I start having to reach up to the top of his head? At least he's still shorter than me. Even if only barely.
I shake my head. And Sam deflates, going to mope in the other room. Fucking preteens, man. Goddamn. I give Dean a look of sympathy. I know he'd rather be the one going on this hunt, hell, I'd rather stay here with Sam.  At least then I'd only have to worry about one brother.
"Mills, if you don't finish packing, Dad is going to be pissed when he gets back." I nod, Dean's eyes promising me they'd be okay.
The door opens, and despite everything I tell myself, my body freezes.
"You ready to go?" Dad's voice is gruff, and I flinch as the door slams behind him. Sam comes back into the main room, ready to fight before Dean gives him a look.
I nod stiffly, not trusting myself. Unlike either of my brothers, I know what this hunt is actually about. And it's not just another hunt, but God do I wish it was.
Dad is using me as bait.
He's using me as bait, and I can't fucking tell my brothers.
"Sam, you'll be fine. Just listen to Dee, and stay out of trouble." I smile at him, reassuringly. He just nods sadly.
"Sam." Dad's voice is harsh as he says the name, and Dean and I both ready to jump in if necessary. "Stop throwing a fit over every little detail." The quiet that sweeps over the room is thick. "If you needed to be on this hunt, you would be." Sam flinches at the words, and I just want to stay and hold him.
But I can't.
Dad has already left the room, so I have to trail behind him.
I glance between my brothers before I walk out the door. Dean can handle Sammy. He always has.
...
Unsurprisingly, the hunt took longer than a week. Hell, it took almost a month, Dad ran me ragged, keeping me up late in the night figuring out what it was, because it sure as hell wasn't a ghost. (I'm still not sure what it was.) Dean had called at some point, but we were busy, and Dad yelled at me for trying to answer it. That was a week ago. I haven't heard from either of my brothers since, but frankly it was weirder that we'd gotten a call from Dean at all.
It had me worried.
But now we're on our way back to the motel where we left the boys at.
"Millicent, stop bouncing." Dad's voice is harsh, and I force my legs to hold still.
My finger starts tapping. "What was that thing, Dad?" I ask trying to distract myself from everything that could have gone wrong with my brothers.
"An Okami, they're rare in the states, 'cording to Bobby, but it stayed down, so guess we did something right." He's demeanor is so calm. It pisses me off, how can he not even be concerned about the lack of communication from Sam and Dean. I rub the bandage on my arm nervously, at least I'll see them soon.
"Interesting, why do you think there's one here now?" At least if he's talking I can pretend to be focused on that.
"No idea kiddo, but it's gone now." He reaches over to ruffle my hair, and I let him, if only because I don't want his mood to sour. "Get some rest, we've still got a couple hours 'til we're back with your brothers.
I nod and turn towards the window, watching as the sun sets and stars come out. Wishing more than anything that we were with my brothers right now.
I must have fallen asleep shortly after, because the car is now pulling into the motel parking lot.
Before Dad even has the car in park, I jump out of passenger seat, ignoring the cut in my side as it pulls from the movement.
Dad shakes his head in amusement, as I rush to the door, knowing I'll have to wait at least 5 minutes for him to get our bags and get over here with the key, but I'm too impatient.
Thankfully, I don't have to wait that long, I don't even have to do the knock. Dean opens the door, and within a second, I've wrapped my arms around his neck, and out of sheer habit, he lifts me up to swing me around.
I wince despite wanting to enjoy this rare show of affection, and Dean quickly sets me down on the sidewalk.
"Are you okay?" He asks, worry in his eyes.
I nod, "yeah, just a small cut. I'm fine." I don't mention the stitches dad had to put in, or the cut on my arm, as I check Dean over. Usually when Dad takes just Sam or I on a hunt or to practice, Dean seems healthier, at least more rested.
Dean's only response is to nod back, before turning his attention to Dad.
"Dad?" He calls out, his voice small and scared. I started to worry. Dad had looked up from the trunk of the impala, and I didn't like the look in his eye. I went into the hotel room, I didn't need to be out there, for this conversation, and I'd missed Sam too.
I checked all the rooms for Sam, but I couldn't find him. Dean wouldn't have let Sam go off on his own. I glance back towards the door as the realization dawns on me.
Sam is gone, and Dean is telling Dad right now.
Shit. Shit. Shit.
Not two seconds later, Dad is storming into the motel room, Dean following behind earnestly.
"WHY THE FUCK DID YOU LET HIM GO OFF ON HIS OWN?" His voice is harsh, and once the door is closed, my heart starts beating fast. I try to step in between them, but Dad pushes me out of the way on to the floor. My heart is beating faster, and panic is setting in as I watch, disoriented from the floor.
Dad's hand is... it's wrapped around Dean's throat. De.. Dean is struggling to breathe, I can see it in his face. I try to stand up, dizzy and disoriented, I probably have a concussion now, but that's every other week at this point.
"Dad. Dad!" I rush across the room, throwing myself on Dad's arm, trying to get in-between. "Dad! You're going to kill him!" My voice is harsh, I've never been more scared. As I'm pulling on his arm to get him to set Dean down, I look in his eyes.
"Dad, please!" I'm pleading with him now, but I'd do anything to get him to stop. When he finally looks at me. He lets go of Dean, who then falls to the floor. He brings up his hand, slapping me across the face.
"He lost your brother! The Hell am I supposed to do?" He quickly turns back to Dean, moving on to wailing on him, not hard enough where people would see the bruises when Dean went back to school, but still. My heart breaks more than it ever has.
"Dad! It's not his fault!" I just wanted it all to stop, and he just hits me once in the stomach, hard enough to put me out of commission for a while.
"Enough!" Dean's also out of commission for at least a week, but Dad walks out of the motel. I don't really care where he's going, I'm just glad that he's gone for a while, and assume he's going to look for Sam, or to a bar. Probably a bar.
I crawl over to Dean.
"Dee?" My voice is strained, and I'm pretty sure I have a broken rib or two, and the cut on my side is definitely reopened.
"Are you okay, Millie?" his voice is hoarse, and I can't believe that he is asking if I'm okay, when Dad almost killed him.
"ME? What about you?" I let out a dry chuckle, "Dad almost killed you."
I'll be fine, it's nothing that hasn't happened before." He looks away from me as he says it, his voice barely above a whisper, not to mention the fact he all but lost it from Dad choking him.
My eyes soften, as my heart breaks into smaller pieces. "I knew about the hitting, that's nothing new, but he's choked you out before?" tears start welling in my eyes, and I don't mention the ones I see in his. He just nods. "Oh, Dee." I try to lean against his shoulder, but wince as the cut pulls, reminding me of reality.
"You sure you're okay Millie?" Dean asks, more like coughs.
I try to nod reassuringly, but the sting in my side has gotten worse, and my hand reaches up to grab it. "Shit." Frankly, we should both be going to the hospital, but we both know that's going to happen, and it's not even really an option.
Dean glances down to where my hand is gripping my side, and his eyes widen as he sees the blood starting to show through my shirt. Double shit.
I try to move, but I can't, it just makes it worse.
"Shit. Millie. What the hell?" Dean asks, he struggles to stand, but once he's up, he carefully lifts me up.
"Dean. Put me down. I'm fine." I try to push away from him, but everything in me wants to just close my eyes.
"No, you're not." He sets me on the bed. "Let me see it." It's not a request, but I roll my eyes, trying not to pass out as I do.
"Dean, I walked a mile out of the woods with this, then rode in the car for half an hour before Dad put the stitches in. I'll be fine for a few minutes." I hadn't meant to tell him what happened, especially not how long I'd been bleeding for, but nonetheless, it came out. Stupid delirium.
He looks at me in shock as I continue, "I mean, I didn't have a double concussion, or a broken rib, but still."
"Fuck, Millicent, what the fuck." He stares at me a second more before turning to my wound. Finally, I let him pull my shirt up to look at it. I hadn't checked it since last night, but it was fine. "Shit, Millie." he looked up at my face. I tried to ignore the rasp in his voice, it just made me angrier at Dad, and the last thing I needed was an increase in blood pressure. "I'm going to have to restitch this, and it's going to hurt like hell. Do you know which side the broken rib is? Can you tell?"
"Y-yeah," I sound breathless, and it's hard to breath. I remind myself it's nothing new, and it's not the first time I've had broken ribs. "At least one on both sides. I-I think."
"Motherfucker." Dean sighs. He shouldn't be the one doing this, but there's no one else I would really let. The only reason I let Dad was because I was too far from Dean, and I couldn't do it myself. "Okay, stay awake. I'm going to grab the first aid kit. Can you tell me what happened on the hunt? Or do you want me to tell you a story?"
He got up as he was talking, and I started to panic. "Y-you." my breathing is labored, and I think I'm in shock a little, because the reality of what just happened is just now hitting me. I shake my head. "Tell.. tell me why Sam took off, an-- and when." I say, trying to control my breathing.
When Dean comes back with the kit, he has me lay down on my left side, the side without the cut. I focus solely on Dean's voice as he talks, watching his hands move rhythmically as he sews up the cut in my side. The next few weeks are going to suck ass.
Dean tells me about a small fight he and Sam got in after Dad and I had been gone longer than a week. I nod in understanding, followed by a wince as he pulls my skin together with the floss. It wasn't the first time Sam lashed out when a hunt didn't go as planned.
Dean continues, saying Sam seemed to calm down after that, and it wasn't until a little over a week ago that Sam ran off. That's when he called. He tried to find him for a couple days before he called, but Sam never came back, and he couldn't find him.
"It's probably the most stress I've ever felt, until you guys came home, and I had to tell Dad." his voice feels distant, farther away than it should, and I can't tell if it's because I'm falling asleep, or if his voice is just that far gone.
Not long after that, he has me sit up. "This is going to suck worse, but if you're right, and you do have broken ribs, we have to wrap them." I sigh, wincing as I do, before nodding.
After I'm all patched up, and I can breathe again, I check Dean over for any open wounds, or anything, but there's nothing to patch up.
"I told you, I'm fine. You need to rest." He gets me to lay back down about an hour after he was done fixing me.
"We need to find Sam." I'm pacing now, grateful for my older brother who always watches out for me, but in this moment, I'm focusing on the fact that Sam has been missing for over a week. "Did you check the library? or the I don't know, is the county fair happening?" I ask, I know it's around that time of year, and Dean just nods.
"We're not going to find him in the next few hours, and we both are going to collapse if we don't get some rest. Come on." He practically pulls me to one of the two beds, and I reluctantly follow. He tucks me in, humming "Hey Jude" like Mom used to do before moving to sleep on the other bed.
"Where are you going?" I ask confused, it's almost never a question on whether or not he and I share a bed, hell we still occasionally all three share a bed.
"Millie Wren, you have at least two broken ribs, and a hole in your side," he sounds flabbergasted as he says it, "I'm not risking hurting you in our sleep."
"Dee, please. You know I don't sleep without sharing a bed with someone." That gets him, and he rolls his eyes.
"Dammit Wren, It's not my fault if you get hurt." I smile because for once he actually sounds like a brother, so I just nod in agreement.
A few minutes later, with the lights off, and both of us comfortable in the bed, Dean says, "are you still awake?" I turn my head to face him.
"It's only been five minutes, of course I'm awake." I tease, but even in the dark, I can see the seriousness of the conversation he wants to have.
"We can't tell Sam what Dad did when he found out. It was my job to protect him and I failed, it makes sense, and you know that getting in between makes things worse, it was bound to happen. It makes complete sense why Dad did what he did. He's scared of losing us like we lost Mom." I nod in agreement.
"You're right. Dad's reasons make sense, and We need to protect Sam." He nods and we both turn to look up at the ceiling instead. It's one of those popcorn ceilings, the textured ones. "You know I'm always going to step in right?" I ask him after a minute, and I feel his eyes turn to me as I talk. "You're not the only one instructed to protect their siblings, and that includes you. Besides, I can handle the yelling, the beating, as long as it's directed at me. You and Sam... You guys are my weaknesses."
"I really wish you wouldn't, but I understand why you will." With that comment, the conversation ends as we both know we have an understanding.
The next morning comes quickly, and movement is quickly stifled by pain and stiffness throughout my body. As I sit up, I glance over towards Dean's side of the bed, he's still sleeping, understandably so. Yesterday was one of the rougher days we've had. I glanced over to the other bed, it was untouched, Dad hadn't been back. I just hoped he was looking for Sammy rather than sitting passed out in a bar somewhere.
I slowly move towards the bathroom, the last time I'd been was like 18 hours ago. My mind wanders to Sam, what he's doing right now, if he's safe or not, and what Dad's reaction is going to be when he finds him. I shudder at the last thought before I remember that despite his loud opposition of Dad's orders, he is the golden child.
It takes me a while in the bathroom, literally every muscle in my body aches, I carefully lift up my shirt after I wash my hands, and I see the huge bruise on my left side and back from where Dad threw me on the floor. I sigh.
By the time I slowly walk out of the bathroom Dean is up, and we are ready to go look for Sam.
A couple more days pass by before Dad finally comes back, without Sam. Shit.
He's calmer now, and I can't smell any alcohol, but that doesn't mean he hasn't been drinking. Dean and I are walking on eggshells around him, not knowing what might set him off.
When Dad passes out around 2 that afternoon, a thought occurs to me. "Hey, Dean?" I whisper to avoid waking Dad up. He looks up from the news paper where he is reading for any approximately 11 year old John Does that might have turned up in the past couple weeks, there's nothing. "Isn't Flagstaff around here?" I ask, as an idea forms in my head that I can't believe we didn't think of sooner.
His eyes light up as realization dawns on his face. "Shit, Yeah it is." He looks like his brain is moving a thousand miles a minute. "Holy Fuck, I can't believe we never looked there." He doesn't have to worry about whispering, because even though his voice is mostly back, it's still pretty raspy.
"We have to wake Dad up." I say, anxiety coating my words. "It's the only place that makes sense, and you can't drive the car by yourself.
"Dammit, I hate that you're right." His voice is weary, but somehow less raspy.
"We could wait until he wakes up on his own?" I offer, but we both know it's a bad idea. We'd likely get another beating for waiting to go get Sam from whatever trouble he got himself into. Dean just looks at me. "I know. I know."
"Go to the other room, Millie, I'll wake him up." Dean says, courage building in his voice, but I can hear the fear he's trying to hide.
"No, we're doing this together. I'm not letting you take the heat for this by yourself." I sound a lot more confident than I feel, but Dean doesn't push. Very carefully we wake him up.
Neither one of us gets yelled at, a welcome surprise, instead, he makes both of us get in the car as he drives to Flagstaff. The car is silent the whole ride.
When we get there, Dad instructs Dean and I to stay in the car. We obey. We've gotten whooped enough times this week, we weren't about to open the door to another one.
Dad goes in to a diner in town to check with locals about whether or not they've seen Sam. Dean and I diligently stay put, the silence in the car beginning to get overbearing. Dad talks inside the diner for a good half an hour or more, and just when Dean and I give each other a look considering disobeying orders, I see Sam.
"Dee..." I start.
"Millie, you heard what Dad said--" he started.
"No, Dean, look. It's Sam." I point out his window, and within a second, both of us are jumping out of the car, broken ribs and all, though at this point the cut is mostly healed.
"SAM!" Dean yells across the street. Sammy turns to face us, shock and wonder crossing his face.
"DEE!" he yells, before he sees me behind him. "MILLIE, YOU'RE BACK!!" I smile at him as relief settles over me, at least he's okay. Sam quickly looks both ways before making his way over to Dean and I. Despite his frustration, I can see Dean's relief in the slump of his shoulders and everything about how he's holding himself.
"I swear to God, Sammy, if you ever, and I mean EVER, do something like this again, I'm gonna throttle you myself," Dean says before giving him another hug. Sam knows nothing but empty threats like this, and I know that is all it is.
I hug both my brothers. "If either of you ever disappear on me again, I'm going to beat your asses." I say, before allowing Dean to guide us back to the car.
"Bitches." Dean says, pointing his word at both of us.
"Assholes."
"Fu-" Sam starts, but Dean and I both stare at him, he just rolls his eyes. "Jerks." I smile at the normalcy of just the three of us, until I remember one of us has to go get Dad.
Dean and I shove Sam into the car, not meanly, just making sure he's not going to slip away again before Dean says, "I'll go get Dad." I just shake my head.
"No way, I'll get him, he'll be softer on me, I'll be fine." Dean starts to object, but I cut him off, "Dean, you've taken the brunt of it this week, let me do this, and one of us needs to keep an eye on Sam." Reluctantly, Dean concedes. It's not like Dad is going to beat us in public, and then Sam will be back, so he'll be in a better mood.
Dean gets in the car next to Sammy, and I turn around sighing, it'll be fine. He's not gonna do anything that might cause suspicion from locals. I force myself to relax, before I walk into the diner after my dad.
It looks the same as most other diners I've been in across the country, a row of booths, a row of tables, and the counter. I glance around the room for Dad. I know he's in here somewhere, he has to be.
As I'm scanning the room for the third time, I finally see him, he's hunched over the counter a coffee in his hands as he's just sitting there. Sam's missing and he's sitting there.
Okay, well, Sam's not missing anymore, but he doesn't know that. I shove my anger down, I have to hold the family together, so I cautiously walk to where he's seated halfway across the diner.
"Dad," my voice sounds small, and I watch him fight the urge to snap at me for disobeying.
"Millie," his voice is strained. "I thought I told you to wait in the car?" It's not a question, he's giving me an out. Do other thirteen year olds think about this stuff, are they this cautious around their dads?
"Yes, sir, but Sam came back." I just blurt it out before he can cut me off, before the anger he's so good at pushing down boils over.
A weight seems to lift off of Dad's shoulders. Perhaps relief, perhaps he's no longer grieving his youngest child, perhaps he's just glad he's not in danger or hurt, or dead. "Good. Go wait in the car, I'll be out in a few minutes."
"Yes sir," I nod, turning around (practically in a perfect military style about face, but that's irrelevant). I go back out to the car, and join my brothers in the back seat of the Impala.
"Everything okay, Millie?" Dean asks, the worry lacing his tone only so much that I could tell, but Sam couldn't. Years of training our expressions taught us that one.
"Yeah, he says he'll be out in a few minutes." Dean nods, and we continue to sit in silence.
"Is Dad mad at me?" Sam asks, and my heart breaks. It's not something he should have to worry about. Ever. "I know I shouldn't have run off, I was just so frustrated."
Dean and I share a look before he looks back at Sam, "Dad could never be mad at you, you just scared him. You can't run off without telling anyone, okay?"
"Okay, Dee."

“Dare I even believe my eyes and ears?” Keri put to David, being handed rinsed plates and cutlery she loaded into the dishwasher.
Shaking the excess water from a large dish, his mouth upturned. “I say it’s safe to call it. I think mommy likes him.” Placing the dish into her outstretched hands, he chuckled. “I mean, god, I didn’t think I’d ever meet anyone else as obsessive over Breaking Bad as your mom is, but apparently it’s very much a common ground.”
As soon as Angell had mentioned it over dinner, Meryl’s eyes had lit up, the two of them mostly dominating the conversation, discussing the layers of the plot, the characters, how they both considered the only redeemable characters to be either Mike or Jessie, and Angel’s theory that Walt began mimicking certain traits of the characters he killed, thus showing him as a true sociopath.
What he didn’t reveal was that until someone had called him one, he’d had no idea what a sociopath was, checking with Google, finding that the pissed off woman he’d been having sex with very briefly was incorrect in her assertion. The term fitted Walter White wonderfully, though, he’d thought.
Meryl had listened to him with fascination, suddenly experiencing a pang of guilt that she’d assumed him to be a dead beat who hauled scrap metal around, day in, day out. She knew she could sometimes be a little judgemental, and very overprotective when it came to her only child, so thus worked hard in making an effort, even though she found that through Angel’s charming nature and ability to engage well with conversation, she truly didn’t have to.
Her mind wasn’t one hundred percent made up, but so far, she found him to be quite likable. As for David...
“Well, little. I gotta say, I think he’s great. I like him, he's a straight up guy and seems really genuine, too. And let me tell you, you’re the apple of his goddamned eye.”
She bit her lip, looking away. “Hmm.”
“Hmm? Psht. Hmm, nothing. You’re onto something good, mark my words.” For once, she actually dared believe that she was. There he was, prepared to do the whole meet the parent's thing on only the second occasion he’d actually spent physical time with her, flying over seven hundred miles to do that, and fine with being ordered to the spare room. And he’d witnessed her various states of calamity.
Yes. Things were looking promising, she had to admit.
“So, I think you have the parent's approval, I haven't heard my mom laugh like that in years! She’s fun once the icy exterior thaws a little,” Keri told him much later in the night before they went to sleep, hugging him in the doorway to the spare room.
“Yeah, I think she’s great. Kinda freaks me out a little that she's only eight years older than me! And David is fuckin’ awesome, really good guy. He’s just like how I pictured him to be from what you told me.”
His words made her beam brightly, reaching to kiss him. “Well, until the morning, you gorgeous man.”
“Goodnight, tiny. Try not to miss me too much.”
She kissed him again, stroking his chest through his shirt. “I’ll try, but if I do, I can’t say that my hands might not wander while I imagine you there.” Licking her top lip, she winked, turning to enter her room, leaving Angel both frustrated and...
“Get the fuck back down,” he spoke, looking to where his cock was beginning to swell in his jeans, closing the door. “We ain’t getting shit tonight.”
The following morning, Keri was up before him, heading downstairs to find David pulling on his jacket.
“I'm just going out to pick up a paper and get some gas, do you want anything from the store?”
Stretching, she shook her head while yawning. “No thanks, I'll have a read of your paper when you're done with it, though.”
“Okay I'll be back in about twenty minutes.” Opening the front door, she noticed that her mother’s car was absent, wondering why, at 9am on a Saturday, her mom wasn’t still in bed. Meryl loved a weekly lie in. David noticed her inquiring expression. “Ruth called her into work. Apparently, Agnes got her days off mixed up, so she’s had to go and cover for her.”
“Wow,” she began, her eyes rounding. “I bet she was pleased.”
He laughed softly through his nose, remembering her fury, until Ruth had revealed the sweetener. “Actually, she was. She’s getting paid double time. Anyway, I’ll see you shortly.”
Twenty minutes of a house to herself. Hearing the shower being turned on upstairs, armed with the knowledge that there were no parents currently under the same roof to catch her doing it, she decided that it was the perfect time to get her own back on the man currently standing under the jet of hot water.
Since the lock was broken on the bathroom door, she tapped it softly and called out 'only me' from the other side after removing her pyjamas, casting them to the floor as soon as she entered the white brick bathroom. Angel turned around in the shower cubicle, his eyes virtually popping right out of his head at the sight of a naked Keri walking towards him.
She could barely conceal the satisfaction at such a reaction, Angel gaping as she stepped in with him. “Move over buddy, there's room for a small person too.” He was rendered mute. “Oh, and good morning.” Fluttering her eyelashes, she stood there beneath the water, her bare skin not quite making contact with his, the large corner shower spacious enough for them both to stand comfortably in there. “Can you speak at all?”
Seeing her naked in the flesh for the first time had truly caught him off guard, the last thing he expected to be seeing that morning, but fuck, he was appreciative. Her body was incredible. Even more so than their dreams had alluded to.
Finally, after watching the water running down over her breasts, he found his voice. “Not that having a beautiful, naked woman in the shower with me is something I’d ever turn down, but if your mom or David come in now, we're dead.”
“Mom got called into work, and David went out to the store. He’ll be gone for twenty minutes. Besides, I’m doing nothing naughty. Merely taking a shower,” she stated sweetly, reaching around him to take her shampoo from the shelf.
Damn her. “So, you're gonna stand there in front of me and expect me to keep my hands to myself, huh?' he said, his eyes travelling across her body, feeling a certain part of his begin to react to the sight he was presented with.
Rinsing the suds from her hair, she once again reached past him, grabbing her conditioner and applying, placing the bottle back, her lips meeting his chest. “Yes, I do expect that. Maybe, though, I don’t have to.”
She finally let her gaze fall, looking down, her smile broadening when she saw his cock standing erect, biting her lower lip as she grasped it with a gentle squeeze. “God, that’s so thick. See when we dreamed, it was always a little hazy, the exact size of your cock. I could never truly gauge what I was working with, but now, wow. The reality is a very nice, big surprise, I have to say.”
Her hand, a little slippery from the conditioner she’d just applied to her hair, ran up his shaft, her thumb stroking swirls over the very tip, pushing him back against the glass cubicle. He reached for her, Keri stepping back a little, her eyes warning him. Knocking his hand away, she closed the gap once more, her lips soft as his neck, a faint whine of a moan fluttering from her mouth. “Does that feel good?”
Her whisper had him shuddering more than the deft ministration of her hand, slowly pumping at his shaft, kissing the column of his throat once more, a deep rumble vibrating against her lips, her tongue swiping where his beard met his neck, that black grit coarse against the soft lick. “Yeah, feels really good.”
He twitched within the warm, slippery clutch of her grasp, his groans thickening as rapidly as his cock, her own furnace beginning to burn brightly. “You want me badly, don’t you? I bet you’d love nothing more than to bend me over right here, and bury this beautiful, big cock right up inside of me, wouldn’t you?”
“Mm.” That soft grunt was all he could manage, their mouths meeting in a kiss of fiery honey, sweet heat burning between them as she quickened her hand, her other bracketing his throat and pushing him back when he tried to assert himself over her. It was an action he hadn’t expected from one quite so diminutive, her strength taking him by surprise.
“Oh no, Angel Reyes. There’ll be none of that.” Her purr set the hairs at the back of his neck to stand on end, his chest beginning to rise and fall quicker, wanting nothing more than to grasp her waist, lift her up and drop her straight down onto his aching cock. “In fact, there’ll be no more of anything. I think I’m done here.”
Releasing him, her mouth tilted into a smirk as she rinsed her hair, soaping herself down quickly before puckering her lips and leaving him there smouldering. His eyes narrowed at her as she swathed herself in towels, chuckling with amusement at his anguish. “I hope you enjoyed your preview.”
“You’re gonna pay for that, mamas.”
She pouted, licking her top lip. “To use your words, bring it.” Leaving the bathroom, the atmosphere definitely steamier than when she’d arrived, Keri went back to her bedroom, her eyes glancing in the direction of her nightstand drawer. God, she’d kill to take the edge off with her vibrator, but time wasn’t really on her side.
After applying a liberal smothering of lotion to her skin, she dressed in her black skinny jeans and her lovely, soft, pale grey sweater that perpetually hung off one shoulder, revealing the dark leopard print undies she had on beneath. Finger combing her hair with some styling cream, she gave it a blast with her hairdryer, her tresses falling into their natural waves, Keri pinning it back to apply a little makeup, laughing as she heard Angel mutter about her being a demoness as he exited the bathroom and walked past her door.
She was affixing her small, diamante stud earrings in when he arrived in her room, folding his arms, still glaring. “I hate you.”
Chuckling, she stood up, moving to kiss him. “Next time I have my hand around it, believe me, I won’t stop.”
“Yeah, I’d appreciate that, rather than having to finish solo.” Just the thought of him relieving himself of what she’d stirred sent a pleasant quiver through her, kissing him hotly before they went downstairs, finding David in the kitchen, cooking up one of his mammoth sized breakfasts. Once they’d eaten, David heading over to their neighbour Steve’s place to continue helping him work on his classic truck rebuild project, Keri sat at the island reading the paper while Angel stood at the window, looking out into the garden as he drank his coffee.
Five minutes passed before he got his true first taste of the local wildlife.
“Holy fuck! There’s a huge assed bear in your garden, come check it out!”
“Colour?” she asked, not looking up from the paper.
“Black.”
She looked up, her face curious with anticipation. “Brown snout, and a chunk taken out of his left ear?”
“Yeah, it has actually,” he replied, puzzled at the specificness of her question for a few moments.
Her face lit up, flying from her seat at speed. “He’s back!” She ran at the refrigerator, pulling out a plate of meat cuts, taking it to the back door. “And where have you been?” she demanded, turning back to Angel and signalling with her hand that he should stay where he was.
“Keri, what the fuck are you doing? That's about four hundred pounds of wild bear coming towards you,” he hissed, his eyes wide.
“Relax, he’s my bear,” she began, the huge beast approaching, making noises of greeting in his throat. “My mom found him abandoned on the side of the highway after his mother had been hit by a truck. He was only a few days old, so she brought him back here to raise him herself. My granddad used to do wildlife rehabbing, so she knew what to do.
“He lived in the house with us until he got too big and was able to go back to the wild, but he comes to visit once a week or so. He thinks we’re his family, and we are, I guess, especially since he used to sleep in mom’s bed with her when he was tiny, before she made his own space for him when he got too rambunctious. He only came out of hibernation last week, though, so I haven’t seen him for months.”
Angel couldn’t help but feel his panic rise as the bear ambled closer, taking in the sheer size of the beast, but his anxious heart melted instantly when he saw it reach Keri, who put the plate down and crouched to fling her arms around his neck, the bear pushing his face against hers. “Hey boy, hey! I missed you so much! I wasn’t home when you came by last week, no, I was out taking lots of pictures of things not nearly as beautiful as you, yes I was!”
He was speechless at the sight, watching the bear put his head down and begin eating the meat from the plate, Keri continuing her talk. “We shouldn’t really feed him as it encourages them scavenging, but he’s never raided the trash, same with the neighbours either. He’s a good boy, he has his manners. He used to come back quite a lot, but it’s less regular now he’s older.”
“How old is he?” Angel asked, viewing the bear with fascination.
“He’s fourteen, and his name is Rufus! I named him after a bear in a book I read as a child.”
He laughed, thinking it a very cute and non-threatening name for a creature who could disembowel a person with one swipe of his claws.
“Don’t look so worried! I used to ride him around the lounge when I was nine! He’s lovely, but not good with new people, so you’ll have to stay there or he might become agitated,” she advised, her nails scratching his thick fur, Rufus fluttering his ears as he licked the plate clean of the blood trails. “Your breath stinks, boy. Yes, it does. I love you, though.” she continued, Rufus sniffing her face and giving her nose a lick before he turned and ambled away.
“Well I gotta say it, you've got probably the most unusual pet in the world, even if he is a wild animal, and he seems to think the world of you,” he told her, stepping outside and lighting up a cigarette.
Her cheeks dimpled from her sweet grin. “Most gorgeous, big animals do.”
Once he’d finished his cigarette, they headed out, Keri able to take him where she’d wanted to the previous weekend, up to the dinosaur museum, stopping for dinner on the way home at a steakhouse David had recommended, and then going for drinks with Ash and Rachel on the evening.
His time with Keri was over way too soon for Angel’s liking, hating to leave her at the airport when Sunday morning rolled around, especially since he wouldn't get to see her for two weeks, with club business penned in the following weekend, making plans for her to go to him next time. She was able to fly down on the Thursday afternoon and stay until Monday morning, figuring she could head straight to college from the airport for her afternoon lectures.
As soon as he walked back into his house, he couldn’t wait until she’d be there in it, too. After unpacking his bag, though, he saw a tiny part of her already was. His hand hit something fuzzy as he pulled his tangle of clothes out, peering down and removing what turned out to be a small triceratops beanie baby she’d obviously bought secretly at the museum giftshop and snuck in there when he hadn’t been looking.
“Keri Jane,” he hummed, looking at the little plush toy with a smile. “Too fucking cute by far.”

Not planned...not at all
Cassian x reader
Azriel x OC! reader's cousin
Short Summary: Two girls, cousins, somehow find themselves inside a slightly modified version of their favorite book saga ACOTAR. What will happen to them, things have changed and not just their situation but themselves...are those pointy ears they now have?
Tumblr media
Chapter 8
"We've no idea why we're even here in the first place. Hell we're supposed to be basic humans in a world completely different to this one with also only humans!"
Roxanne nods an exaggerated serious look on her face which has me struggling not to snort.
"But now we've got pointy ears and God knows what else, because I've yet to have the time to check why my back feels so numb and sore."
"You too?"
Roxanne telling me her back also felt weird had me in a weird mix of relief that I wasn't crazy and worry that Azriel had actually broken something inside us when throwing us around.
"So just to simplify, yes we know a lot cuz just yesterday you guys were just characters from a damned book saga we were addicted to as teens. Now what does this mean? It means, please don't kill us we can be useful and also we'd appreciate not being tortured for information that we'll likely let slip either way!"
I give my best innocent smile although it comes out looking very awkward and after a few endless minutes of staring at the three very tall illyrians and half whine at Roxy.
"See, you should've given the speech!"
She shook her head no.
"You always say I look angry and unapproachable with strangers you're the one that looks friendly."
"I'm also the one that looks anxious and feels anxious!"
We heard a loud sigh and saw a very frustrated Rhysand rubbing at his temples.
"The cauldron has done weirder things, neither of you seem to be lying so I'll take your word. But one wrong step and you're back in here and we'll be collecting information however I seen fit!"
Roxanne's words and mine echo as one and the same.
"Okey..."
We wouldn't be tempting our luck anytime soon that's for sure.
After another very awkward moment Rhysand turned around and walked out followed by his general and spymaster leaving the door open after themselves. It took me a moment to process but I quickly jogged right after.
"Oh. Oh we follow along? Alright...is there any chance we'll get to meet the other?"
I was rambling, out of nerves mostly so Roxanne lightly elbowed me. I wasn't speaking that loud but of course the damn fae hearing kicked in and Rhysand turned giving me an icy look that clearly meant shut up.
Bitting down on my tongue I purse my lips. Of course he'd keep the "High Lord of the night court" mask we might not be a threat but he barely knew who we were or were we came from. Did he even know our names? I didn't give mine, although I did call Roxanne Roxy.
Not feeling my nerves calm down anytime soon I just move to half hug Roxanne, wrapping my arms loosely around ger shoulders and resting my chin on her shoulders. At least this way not only was I calmer but I could keep Roxy safer.

Battle on the Sugoroku Board - God Won’t Roll The Dice 3
Tumblr media
(Location: Cage)
(A few minutes before— The “Battle on the Sugoroku Board” set’s cage)
Rinne: —And that’s when I found out that Kohaku-chan’s scared of ghosts.
Oh! You won’t tell him, right? He seems to be pretty conscious of it♪
Madara: Oh. I’ve heard good things about that♪
I want to take Kohaku-san to a haunted house next time and see his reaction. I’m serious about it.
Rinne: No, completely ignore it.
Well, it’s not something to hide and I don’t care what you say.
More importantly, I’m curious about whether you guys’ll continue with Double Face. He’s got his schedule set aside for Crazy:B, doesn’t he?
Madara: Haha. What’re you talking about, Rinne-san? Isn’t that Kohaku’s main job?
I’m a two-timer with MaM too. It’s nice to be able to use it for convenience, like a relative’s house that you go to sometimes.
Rinne: I don’t mind either way. I’m sure Kohaku-chan wants to do it too.
Madara: More importantly, it looks like other idols are listening in, aren’t they?
I don’t know how it looks from the outside, but ES isn’t rock solid either. How about I talk to you like someone who knows inside info?
You’re good at getting the audience excited in your lives, right?
Rinne: Lives and chats are two different things. I’m not really a gossip, y’kno~w?
Madara: Despite what you’re saying, you look like you can’t help but want to chat♪
Rinne: Gyahaha, that’s true!
I’ve also been forced to suffer a lot. I feel sorry for all the cute kids that couldn’t fit into the industry!
If you have something to say, say it♪ We’re in a cage anyway, no one will hear you.
Idol: There’s nothing to talk about with a blessed ES idol……
Rinne: Oi oi. You’re too naive. It’s true that we’re in a pretty lofty position, but up until recently I was on the verge of being fired, y’know.
But lucky for me, I won the bet. I risked my life on a big gamble and just barely hit the mark.
If I say that, people might get angry because it means the future’s uncertain. “Don’t lecture me” and “You don’t have to tell me” and all that.
Tumblr media
Rinne: But I can tell you this. The goddess of fate won’t smile on those who curse their own fate♪
I’m an idol, just like all of you. So don’t be so cold.
Let me hear your stories.
Idol: ………
…… The reason we appeared on “Battle on the Sugoroku Board” was because it’s what the agency wanted.
Since I’m in a small agency, I had no choice but to obey.
The program’s intentionally trying to make the ES idols lose.
It looks like they gave support items to some idols in advance, and it can turn any situation upside-down.
Rinne: Haah? Does that mean this program’s rigged?
Madara: An interesting story. In other words, you guys are assassins who showed up to outwit us.
However, you’re a pretty “cute” assassin. I guess you have no intention of taking my life.
What’s your purpose, then?
Even if you beat us, since it’s not a pure performance-based contest, there won’t be much benefit to it, right?
Rinne: No, I don’t know about that.
ES is a big deal to these guys.
They want to win, even if just once, and to get rid of their frustrations— those are also motivating factors.
Madara: So what’s really going on? The sooner you talk, the easier it’ll be.
The circumstances of adults aren’t that satisfactory anyways.
Idol: We don’t know why the agency came up with a plan like that……
All I heard from the agency was “We want you to appear on a NETV program in order to eliminate the disparities in the entertainment industry.”
I even wonder sometimes what the point of doing something like this is. But the director, who didn’t like the way ES was running things, was also on board with it……
Honestly, we didn’t expect ES idols to be so friendly.
Sorry for acting the way I did.
Tumblr media
Madara: Hmm. So you guys are at the bottom and don’t understand what the agency or director are thinking.
Then, it seems we have no choice but to ask the production director.
Rinne: Wait. That kind of thing—
How about we flip that scenario on its head?
Madara: Yeah…… Personally, I’d like to understand the other party’s plans and destroy them. I honestly don’t care whether we win or lose the program.
…… But it’s annoying to fall into our opponent’s trap, isn’t it?
Alright. Well, I’ll be happy to help ya out♪
CosPro and NewDi are probably similar in that their leaders hate losing.
I think they’d hate it, but how about we form a united front?
I’m sure that’ll make the program more exciting♪
Rinne: Heeh, that’s fine. A united front♪
It’s hard to be trusted easily though. We’re a team with poisonous bees and poisonous snakes. You never know when we’re going to poison you, right?
Madara: Hahaha, I can’t speak for others, but I’m used to not being trusted.
Even as we proclaim our own justice, we transcend barriers and fight together for the same purpose— that’s also heroic, and I like it♪
