sometimes the portrayals are really good!! but i hate that often, people portray him either as a moody brat or a weak baby. he is canonically a good fighter, especially after the fire, though he doesn’t like to. hes a loner, hes a reader, hes a pacifist, hes a good kid.

you have to remember that the outsiders is literally written in HIS POINT OF VIEW!!! ofc yes he’s a sassy and snarky teenager but he is also so intelligent and smart. hes a loner, but the gang would never shun his company. he has so much depth that a lot of writers often forget. hes a 14 year old kid with thoughts of a adult and can only do so much. thats what makes the outsiders so relatable to alot of people. its his intelligence that makes him and darry argue, because of how darry sees himself in ponyboy

but also on the other side of the coin ponyboy is a fragile character after the events of the book, because he is 14!!! but he has thoughts!!

i feel like people forget his good traits and only focus on the bad (and oh my goodness does this count for darry too!)

besides fanfiction.net and like 30% of the fics on ao3 hes actually a solid portrayal most of the time, but tons of people forget that his relationship with ponyboy wasnt actually that batshit awful. sure theyd butt heads alot and go back and forth but they love each other thats why they did that. hes so much more than just an angry man who happens to be ponyboys brother.

hes a man who peaked in high school (IM KIDDING) and lost it all not because of his brothers but because of his parents. there was probably some strong resentment there for a while until they died. darrys problem or flaw is that he cares too much and his fear turns to anger. its love for sodapop and ponyboy that brings him back when he realizes his anger is doing more bad than good for his little brothers. It’s opening up and allowing his brothers in that helps his character.

that being said, people often focus more on his bad traits than his good traits. its a running theme in the outsiders fandom, i’ve noticed

ehhhhhh, most johnny portrayals i’ve seen are either really good or really bad. kinda ponyboy’s problem, being seen as weak. hes just a dynamic character who is allowed to be weak but also has so many strong traits about him. he is a frightened wounded animal to most but to the gang hes something more than that. also, snarky and ‘over’ johnny portrayals are great.

forest!david's travels/lore !!

when he was 14, he lived in sleepy peak village with his family. they owned a farm, and david would help out alot in it ! suddenly, any crop he picked or held started to rot and wilt in his hands. david suddenly became more pale and his iris began to shine a golden colour, his parents took him to the doctor and they sound out that david was ice cold and he has no pulse.

his parents saw this as a curse and they threw him out of his home and they told the people in the village that he was possesed by evil beings and that he cant live there anymore. david was thrown out of home with only his tshirt, shorts and his work shoes. so he had to wander around and live in the forest.

david wandered for about a few months (by this point hes turned 15), before coming across lake lilac + lilac village. he stumbled into the village and louis found him. louis and his family are book makers and gwen (15) helps her grandma run the village library. louis took him in, fed him, gave him a yellow scarf, a vest and a old book bag. david in return helped the family make little jars of pickles and stuff like that :) david cant stay in one place too long before all the plants and crops around him start wilting and dying, so he set off on his way and he said goodbye to gwen and her family.

after another few months of wandering, david (now 16) finds another village thats by the mountains. the villagers call the mountain 'the island' bc its so random in this big feild, anyway. david comes across jasper (16) and they talk and chat. jasper takes david into the village and he stays for a few days. jasper teaches him how to ride a bike and they play around with all the kids in the village. one of these kids is harrison. his family runs the church in this village, and harrison immidiently notices davids powers

right before david is about to take off in the night, harrison rushes out of his home and he talks to david, saying he noticed how flowers around him start to wilt and that all fresh fruit that he holds starts to rot after he sets it down. david panics but he admits to his powers, and harrison isnt scared but hes relieved that someone else is weird like him. to prove his powers david picks up a daisy and he holds it, its petals fall off the flower, then he hands it to harrison, and the petals start to grow back again magically. it clicks in david's head that harrison is the spring yokai, and his powers bring life to things that he holds. david asks harrison if he can hold his hands and maybe try to reverse his powers, but nothing happens. david is really disappointed but he tells harrisons that his powers are something he shouldnt be afraid of. he should use his power to help all the people in this wonderful village and that he can do good with them - just keep it a secret!

david walks on into the night, and every now and again he encounters this kid in the forest, looking up at the stars. he goes and sits down with this kid, and he starts telling him jokes aand wonderful stories, and when the kid laughs the stars in the sky shine brighter :) space kid is the night fairy, and david occasionally bumps into him and he lets the kid tell him all about the planets and stars. when david falls asleep and he wakes up in the morning, space kid is gone. he appears when the sun sets and he fades away when the moon goes down. david circles around the area and every year he pops into gwen's village and jasper's as well. gwen figured out that he is the autumn yokai thanks to reading legends and hearing stories from her grandmother. shes chill with it. little fun fact, all the pickles/chutneys that david helped prepare were always the sweetest tasting :) his powers enhanced the fermentation process

i guess i'll give some lil details abt it. this is gonna be long so under the cut it goes

sonic and scourge (also sonic at the time) meet each other when a portal opens up between their dimensions when theyre both about 10 years old. they both are pretty attuned to changes in their world, so they find it at the same time and are like "What The Heck You're Me!" but they hit it off pretty quickly bc they figure out the other one is just as fast as them and they race and a bond is formed.. they decide to call each other nicknames (buckles for prime sonic, shades for alt sonic bc at the time he's wearing the leather jacket + boots + shades) just to make things easier

for a little more context, in this au moebius is more like just. mobius but a little to the left. its not an opposite world like it is in canon, its just kinda...Different? if that makes sense? so shades isnt Nice, hes kind of a dick and he's rude, but he's not evil or malicious

buckles finds out after a while that shades has...not the best home life. his dad fuckin sucks. so shades stays with him and his nonna a lot (buckles' parents are gone already and he ends up staying with this sweet old cat lady he calls his nonna). this eventually culiminates into an awful thing when theyre about 14--shades ends up being pushed to the point of where he actually kills his dad. he doesnt show up for weeks, and buckles is worried, but he eventually shows up again, but hes different. hes not okay. and suddenly hes talking about how they cant be friends, how hes going to leave and never come back. and they have their first fight, which ends with shades leaving and buckles being left alone and devastated

they dont meet again until a couple years later when theyre both 16. shades had eventually returned to mobius and had been crashing there for a while, but he was stirring up trouble under the name of sonic. prime sonic finds him on angel island--apparently he had caused so much trouble that even sonic's enemies were targeting him now, so he wanted to use the master emerald to gain power so they'd stop messing with him. of course this goes south when he powers up with the emerald and knuckles defends it by slashing him across the chest during the transformation, interrupting it and putting him in a permanent half-super state (the green). he proclaims his new name is scourge, and they fight again, but scourge ends up using the master emerald to chaos control away, and once again they dont see each other for a while after that, bc then sonic is dealing with the Worst fucking year of his life (shadow, unleashed, forces). they basically dont talk again until theyre 19.

when they do talk again, sonic's really messed up from forces--the torture from infinite on the death egg really fucked him up and was making him question his reality even after everything. but scourge runs into him and knocks some sense into him (literally punches him in the face LOL) and sonic realizes this Is real, the war Is over, and everything fucking sucks. his nonna died while he was away. scourge doesnt take this well at all, and neither does sonic when he realizes its real, and they both kinda have a mutual breakdown moment because Neither of them were there when she passed and they both majorly regret it. but scourge still doesnt end up staying; he takes sonic to a nearby village when he falls asleep and then he leaves again. but that lets sonic know that scourge still does care about him, despite pushing him away for all these years. so hes going to figure out why, and bring back his friend.

they finally meet again post-frontiers, when sonic has a clearer head and has healed a lot. they fight again Of Course, but it ends up with scourge finally confessing why he'd run away so long ago, why he'd been trying so hard to push sonic away and drive a wedge between them to make sure sonic would Stay away--it was all because of the thing with his dad. he was ashamed of himself and didnt want his only best friend to see him as a murderer. but yknow what? sonic isnt fazed. he doesnt give a Shit. in fact he literally tells scourge that if scourge hadnt done it? sonic would have. jules was awful and beyond saving and the world was better off without him. scourge is shocked by all this, not really understanding...but they end up making up and finally, Finally becoming friends again

so thats the whole story LOL. ive been developing it w jester behind the scenes and while it isnt a Long au story its a fun and angsty one hehe. might be a little sonourge eventually. you know how it is

The “surprise” party had been in full swing for about an hour now and it seemed that everyone but you was enjoying themselves, enid and ajax had jumped in the pool wednesday had disappeared to god knows where, and then there was your parents mingling with there friends they’d invited, pushing myself off the living room wall i trudge to my room.

as i lay out everything in my tray i hear a soft knock on my door “come in it’s unlocked” i yell to be heard over the loud music outside, wednesday steps into my room closing the door behind her with a click “i’ve been looking for you” i roll my eyes at her signature glare “well you found me” she hums and steps closer “you know you really shouldn’t smoke that stuff it’s bad for you” pausing as i bring the joint up to my lips to wet the paper “you gonna lecture me addams or are you gonna keep the birthday girl company” not waiting for a response i stand and make my way to the front door both of us slipping out unnoticed.

the walk through the forest was completed in comfortable silence and i reach my destination in record time as i sit on the grass wednesday settles in next to me “beautiful isnt it” i ask looking at the view of field after felid sprawled out below us “found it after me and dad had an argument when i was 10 been my smoke spot since i hit 14” i bring the joint to my lips and light it enjoying the feeling of smoke hitting my lungs “what about you got any cool spots near home i don’t know about” she thinks for a second and the ghost of a smile crosses her face “there’s an old secluded graveyard a short hike from my house not even my mother knows about it i go there when i don’t want to be bothered reading by pugsley” she bumps shoulders with me and i turn my head “thank you, you know for coming im usually alone on my birthday it’s nice to have you here” she reaches up to caress my cheek “you’ll never be alone mi amor, but didn’t we just sneak away from a party thrown in your name” she quirks an eyebrow at me and i chew on my bottom lip thinking about how to explain it all.

i take a breath and it all comes flowing out “and out of everyone there not once person has noticed, not today or any of the other years i’ve left, those parties aren’t for me weds god even my cake says 16 and i turn 18 this year” i run my hands through my (h/c) hair and let out another exasperated sigh “it’s always been rocky with my parents, they always expect more from me and then i ended up at nevermore and it was like a new beginning yeah they would send me letters telling me how upset with my grades they are but atleast i wasn’t going to bed bleeding anymore” i drop my head onto her shoulder not wanting to continue in fear of crying.

[OC stuff] I like to ramble about my OCs, so ignore this

Thinking about that trope where the villain tries to convince the protag that "humanity isnt worth saving, so why do you have to sacrifice yourself for them?" (+ spoilers i guess?) + this is corny, so really...ignore this--

!!Some potentially triggering stuff about s*icide and ab*se of power, so CW!!

So like CJ isnt very lucky in life and in the beginning of whatever tf i wrote, its implied she wanted to "end" herself by overworking once she repaid her foster family (they loved her unconditionally, but she sees herself as a burden bc they never asked to care for a child) + she had a survivors guilt over the fact that "she couldnt save whats left of her friends" when she was around 8 years old, stuck in a facility (slaughterhouse).

So when she escaped and was given another chance (in her teens, shes trying to adjust, angst ensues etc.) and met Arthur the ghost who convinces her "its not so bad to have some people in your life", so she does. She ends up having a few friends, but shes skeptical. Basically Arthur was there trying to support her to go out and have a life (because he wanted her to have a good life- something he unfortunately could not have since he died when he was 14 yrs old in the 1930s-40s)

Bonus: Arthur helped her find a job from another dimension where she delivers letters/memoirs to spirits who have stayed too long and wandering about in limbo that never got closure. She is responsible for preventing them in turning to demons that spread despair (along with other postmen/mailmen)

Yes...she and arthur made a deal that if he got her a job, shell help him reunite with his family (but he doesnt remember them bc he was wandering too much)

In comes Poppy, a lonely girl who was well off- and heiress. While she may not flaunt her wealth, she has that intimidating aura that alarms CJ despite Poppy wanting to have friends. Weirdly enough, she has a deep fascination with CJ, all because she sensed that she has the ability to see ghosts, something that Poppy was jealous of. Poppy practiced dark magic all her life, and was aware of what her father does- running the facility for harvest eyes from people.

CJ couldnt figure out what was bothering her about Poppy, because she have sworn the blonde girl was familiar somewhere. It turns out Poppy was that one girl she saw at the facility who was walking with her father right after he ordered the staff to put them in the operating table to sedate them and harvest their eyes. CJ, at that time, looked drastically different from what she looks today, even down to her legal name which was now stripped from her and was turned into numbers.

Poppy was brainwashed into thinking that her life's purpose is to complete her father's work, and in order to do so, she has to collect any potential candidates for the cult's experiment to complete the giant homunculous resting beneath the earth for thousands of years (she still has no idea what they would use the giant for, since she herself doesnt have the gift of sight or "eye shard" like CJ does).

Poppy also knew what she and CJ were made of- they were made from that same material and genes as those of synthetic flesh of homunculi only that they were conceived, but without a soul or memory once theyre done with their work.

Homunculi don't have adequate expressions, and it was why it was hard for them to relate or react in certain situations.

She knew that once her time is up, she'll be discarded, so shes working hard to help the cult.

CJ discovered her origins later on-- that she wasnt her mother's daughter, but a clone of her brother to store the eye shard, since it favors female hosts. After uncovering everything, she felt devastated because all of the memories she had made with her found family and friends are all worthless since she herself isnt a human. Not an ounce of humanity is present within her, so why does she have to commit?

Poppy adds that theres really nothing in store for her sibce the world and its time will end at one point. CJ wont be remembered or reincarnated just like Poppy bc they were never and will never a spirit- a negative sentiment that eats Poppy's heart and making her unable to have meaningful connections unless it was with a condition.

Arthur rebuts this and says that shes more human that she could ever be. If he were alive and living in the same timeline and dimension, they wouldve been great friends. He was willing to stay so she would be happy, even though it would result with him turning into a demon.

In short: Looking back, her life wasnt meaningless at all. Her desire to end it all was a cry for help, and Arthur helped her through it. He gave her a reason to love people, even though it was hard at first.

Ending: Im not sure how this personal project ends since there are more characters i have to work on and polish.

Lmao, the story is a mix of Madoka Magica, Silent Hill, and Gumball. Make that of what you will 💀🔫

someone liked one of my TOH headcanon posts from earlier this year and it reminded me about the specific headcanons i have for exactly what types of games the hexsquad plays and how they play them.

luz is obv an RPG fantasy fan. anything with a juicy story and a character creator and complex lore she’ll love. she definitely plays series like elder scrolls and baldur’s gate and final fantasy. she also plays final fantasy 14 and has her character as the good witch luzura and she isnt good at playing it like an mmo is supposed to be played but she loves the story. when endwalker came out luz couldnt stop sobbing to the point that camila was actually worried about her. also enjoys roguelikes such as hades or binding of isaac even if she can only play for so long before getting too frustrated. she also 100% plays genshin impact and gets into arguments online with other genshin fans.

amity is a fighting game girl. she is highly competitive and practices combos with her eyes shut. she prefers the tekken series but when luz wants to play with her they play guilty gear bcus luz likes it’s art style the most. she also likes fantasy RPGs but is way more picky about which ones she plays. she likes fire emblem. she also plays ff14 with luz and is actually good at the game (she carries luz sometimes) but isnt a huge fan of MMOs. she also is the one in the friend group with the NASA ass PC rig with a custom case and the most organized wiring you’ve ever seen with the lcd screen on the liquid cooled cpu and the azura figurine inside the case. she also does custom wraps for all her consoles.

hunter likes games that are very much like, micromanagement sims. like civ5 or cities skylines or factorio (i dont know anything about it but ive been assured by my sister that hunter plays modded factorio) but he’s also a fan of like, old school FPS games like doom and half life. i can see him doing speedruns of those games. (also he 100% once got addicted to some game like fuckin. galactic pinball or something to the point where he was staying up all night and not sleeping so he could play more pinball. in order to get him to stop playing so much and actually get some sleep, gus used illusions to make hunter think he was hallucinating about pinball and scared him into not looking at a single screen or monitor for like three weeks.)

gus is a very chill gamer but he likes games that he can sink hours and hours into. instead of playing a wide variety of games he has a select few that he dedicates his time into learning every last mechanic, but there’s also some games he just plays casually. like with pokemon games he’ll put hundreds of hours into them and carefully curate his team and does like nuzlocke runs but when he plays on his and willow’s shared-custody new horizons island he’ll just walk around and catch bugs and shit and not really worry about upgrading his house and make matching fits with his favorite villager.

willow prefers cozy games, like slime rancher or stardew valley or the aforementioned shared new horizons island, but she’s also a fucking menace about them. like she goes HARD on the min-maxing and automation and shit. while gus is wandering around their island catching fish, willow’s busy rearranging her fully upgraded mansion up in the hills and harassing any villagers she doesnt like with nets and deciding what hybrids to plant in front of her bell trees (she only has bell trees for the aesthetic. gus isnt allowed to harvest them) she would also be running the most high profit slime ranch ever but the way she treats her slimes makes hunter upset whenever he sees her just fuckin throwing them off a cliff the second they arent useful to her anymore. (meanwhile hunter names each one of his slimes and always feeds them their favorite foods and cried over casey & beatrix)

vee enjoys survival/strategic horror games, like DBD, resident evil, deadspace, or even FNAF. she’s the type of person to see the goriest most violent death in a video game ever and just go “ew yucky” then carry on. masha and her are often playing DBD together while in a call and are the most annoying pair of suvivors ever. she also likes games such as original katamari and pikmin 1 and chulip. she's also the undefeated DDR champion of the friend group.

bonus: camila isnt much of a gamer with one exception-- when she was in college manny introduced her to WoW and got her hooked. it was Their Game that they played together all the time. they made cosplays of their characters together. they had several dates in game. they optimized their characters to perfect compliment one another when they ran dungeons with their guild. even since manny passed camila still plays every so often and keeps in touch with their guild members. for the longest time luz has 0 idea that camila plays WoW at all and only finds out after the whole secret nerd confession.

Dustin Anderson. Rude, crude, always scowling. A fair embodyment of the phrase "If looks could kill" . I think he may be the poster boy, though I'm certain he wouldn't need to kill someone with a look. It is at least twice a week since I have been staying at the inn that I have come out of my room to check in on some loud commotion that he has been belligerently drunk and yelling at someone over something, I havent been able to understand him half of the time. He is large, loud, and with the frame of an ox he is more than capable of backing up his threats, of which he often makes. He is entirely dismissive of Rictavio's stories, and really seems to care of nothing more than drinking, chasing the girls of the town, and being allowed to play his music with his sister. Though he does seem to adore the fights he gets in to as well. The wolf hunter I've seen running around with his sister (a connection I am not sure he is aware of) bumped shoulders with him and I watched him stand up and lay the young man on his ass in one swing. Really, it was quite impressive on both fronts, Dustin's ability to lay out a man almost as large as he is, and the hunter's sheer audacity to keep playing with that type of man's sister.

Dustin is a werewolf. This fact almost boggles my mind. Not the idea of a huge, hairy, violent man being one, but the fact that I had not caught it until he had walked up to me in the privacy of night and revealed this fact himself. I had assumed the silver piercings were proof enough, a Vallakian staple used to prove your uninfected status, but his apparently did not. I have only recently revealed myself to his group, now that I have come to trust them more, and this man comes up to me with full confidence and tells me he is a werewolf. He is asking me for help. Not with a cure, no. He isnt able to transform anymore. Apparently, 6 years ago, that brute in town, Izek, struck him in the gut with a silvered axe, and a piece broke off inside him. I think the reason Rhaenyra was fine working with Mysaria, despite her being Daemon’s mistress, is because Rhaenyra is entrenched enough in the feudal system to not see Mysaria as a threat because she’s of drastically lower status. Mysaria was lowborn, formerly enslaved, with a history of sex work and being a spymaster in the least savory part of the capital, all things that women get dehumanized for in the society that Rhaenyra was raised in. Mysaria isn’t like Rhaenyra. Rhaenyra is special, she’s Valyrian, she’s the heir to the throne, and she’s a dragonrider. None of the things that ever happened to Mysaria because of Daemon would ever happen to her. She’s different, he would never abandon her to get put on a boat somewhere while he flies off to another person because power is pointing in a different direction.

But he did do that, and that’s where Nettles comes in. Daemon groomed Rhaenyra (and arguably also Laena) as a teenager. Daemon is into very questionably young dragonriders because he’s real into Valyria. Nettles is the last one in that pattern, and Daemon running off with this girl who ISNT Valyrian and IS lowborn, gender nonconforming, and “ugly” had to have been more of a betrayal for Rhaenyra psychologically.

Rhaenyra committed to a life with Daemon, he said he was going to fight for her, and it turned into a war that killed all but one of her children (all six of whom she had before she was 30) and a rapidly decaying claim on the power she sacrificed so much for. And when bearing this inhuman tidal wave of grief got to be a little too hard for her husband to deal with, he ran off on a probable suicide mission with a plucky and naive 16 year old dragonrider and left his wife and their son out to dry. This is a world-destroying betrayal and revelation to deal with for Rhaenyra, and she cannot deal with it, so she just decides to blame Nettles and try to get her killed. She literally cannot believe that her husband would do this to her, it has to be 16 year-old Nettles’ fault, the slut, the tramp, the temptress who led her man astray.

Okay, (11/14/23 NOTE: I should have put this into the original doc of this post) I won't deny that Rhaenyra underestimated Mysaria from classism...but I do have questions:

Why wouldn't she be okay working with Mysaria long term or using her spy network 7 connections? Apart from being uncomfortable with the fact Mysaria was (not "is") Daemon's one-time-some-time lover? There are differences b/t worrying bc of a past relationship reigniting, not wanting your lover's baggage around, and actually worrying that the ex-lover would harm you. What reason do you expect Rhaenyra to have to suspect Mysaria of actually plotting against her when Rhaenyra did nothing to Mysaria.... absolutely nothing AND when Mysaria only stood to gain actual power & relative safety away from her former downtrodden life? In being under Rhaenyra's "employ"? Why are you making Rhaenyra out to be this super paranoid person before her actual super-paranoia kicks in?

Have you ever wondered what exactly makes Mysaria willing to try to make Rhaenyra fall after years of her willingly helping Daemon to spy and kill a literal child on this command and possibly for his & Rhaenyra's need for revenge? (This is about the rumor that she and Dameon were sleeping with each other after Rhaenyra retreated more after the taking of KL. I do not think they slept together anymore after contemplating this exact thing.) If it were true that Mysaria simply continued being Daemon's mistress...why the hell would she antagonize him or bring about his downfall if she stands to benefit from Rhaenyra & Daemon winning and making a comeback? So it has to be about something more than her supposedly wanting Daemon back/be his real mistress again and getting rejected. Otherwise, it is some cheap soap opera nonsense (which can be entertaining elsewhere but doesn't fit w/Mysaria's character nor the themes of this story--again Mysaria was willing to work for Daemon for literal years while he's been building a whole ass family). Mysaria always struck me as a pragmatist; no sex worker, past or present, expects their past customer/lover to actually "choose" them. (one theory [developed from hamliet's about Mysaria and bastard kids] is that Mysaria knows Nettles is Daemon's bio daughter or at least suspects it, feels cheated out of a happy life with her own bastard kid who would have been Daemon's first child and even received an egg, and thus targets Nettles)

It seems you have an idea of Mysaria's motivation for deceiving Rhaenyra, and you seem to think that it is bc Mysaria is this hero/good actor trying to save KL, advocates for the little guy, and looks for "the realm" best interests away from Rhaenyra's tyranny. Did you know that by making Rhaenyra go after Nettles, Mysaria was also targeting Nettles?, a lowborn dark-skinned girl of 17? Even if Nettles was sleeping with Daemon, why would Mysaria phrase her sex w/Daemon with provocative language, approach Rhaenyra as if this were a troublesome topic, or even mention it at all to the one person who could/would hurt Nettles? Being a Valyrian dragonrider or just a Valyrian/of descent doesn't really make you special or "better" as a person. Magnetic, cooler, possibly charismatic, confident, and certainly more powerful...yeah. "Better" as in a higher value? Nah.

Maegor, Rhaena-Rider-of-Dremafyre (specifically about the suffocation of her family and lover), Aemond and Aegon II, Viserys I & II, Daemon, Alysanne, and Jaehaerys I--all these people had faults. Major & minor ones. A few were evil.

I will explain later in point 3 how even here it's odd considering the possible ramifications for Daemon not sending Mysaria away and a headcanon as to why he did, but I could be giving him too much grace.

It's worth considering the inherent exploitativeness of sex work within patriarchy even when a person chooses to go into sex work.

I think now more than ever that Mysaria went after Nettles and more likely did at least make a remark of something like the Brothel Queens thing or was responsible for Helaena's death in telling her about Maelor's death. There was no coercion nor evidence of such happening at any time b/t her and Daemon...but she was being used and was abandoned. There is nothing to suggest that Daemon forced her to "accept" his attraction...but she looked to him for a way out and was punished for it.

Again, at the same time, Mysaria turns her pain & revenge against Rhaenyra & Daemon to targeting Nettles and enabling Blood & Cheese's murder of Jaehaerys. These were of her own volition, her choice. And Daemon WANTED that child, which came with her.

Mysaria's body is a commodity in the sex trade a patriarchy where Daemon benefits sexually & politically much more than she would have, and yes while Daemon complied with Viserys' order and can be argued to deserve his death at her hands, the main direct aggressor towards Mysaria was neither Nettles nor Daemon (again, he was willing and actively accepted Mysaria's kid and was going to take her in) much but Viserys and his need for others to see him as upholding feudal aristocratic deals/the Royce alliance.

There were unfair consequences to her search for happiness with a prince while being a former sex worker and not a noble, but none of that is particularly Daemon's fault.

You imply that it is totally Daemon's fault for Mysaria being exiled to Lys when that shit is on Viserys alone, who ordered her exile. Viserys threatened Daemon with naming him an actual traitor. This could mean that it's on sight for Daemon AND his paramour AND their bastard child, or they are just more at risk because Daemon, their only chance at protection, is himself threatened with one of the highest crimes of a feudal society--treachery against the monarch. Path of least resistance.

I agree that Daemon puts her in the line of danger bc allowing someone like Mysaria to get involved with him while knowing/suspecting Viserys would not approve is much riskier for her than for him.

At the same time, if your king/president/dictator (all in all, a state leader) tells you that you must do a thing you really do not want to do or is against your strongest desires and in anger as if it was a personal affront to you, and they are ready to take more drastic measures to see it done....how likely are you, anon, NOT going to do it? Even if you were as powerful, feared, or respected as Daemon? Especially when that person/leader is your brother/relative and "head" of the society you live in? What if you thought that disobedience would put your kid and its mother more at risk?!

Viserys is king; Daemon, despite being defiant, actually still obeys his orders of exile from KL because he likely doesn't want Viserys to appear even weaker than he already thinks he does by disobeying him--bc that means less for the entire house, which is a huge concern of Daemon. Daemon's not out here looking for power for power's sake--he has done all he did for the sake of a family unit's prosperity, legacy, happiness, and supremacy, which for the Targs is very interconnected as it is for noble houses/feudal aristocratic families like the Hightowers. Otherwise, he'd just stay in KL all the times Viserys exiles him.

At the same time, he's always able & insistent on coming back.

Headcanon time & trying to get into this guy's head: Perhaps from his pattern of coming back after being exiled, he seems to know that if he gives Viserys time and little interaction, Viserys will not be that upset with him for actually coming back...partially bc he knows Viserys actually cares about him and they have mostly had each other since young. So when he gets the order to let Mysaria go, and abandon her & their coming kid, it's because Viserys is king, his brother, his companion as kids, his "charge", and his superior BUT it could also be said that Daemon expected to get Mysaria and their son to come back at a later date.

In other words, there's more to be said than Daemon leaving Mysaria because she was lower-class or a prostitute. Yes, he left her out to dry, & her not being family or a Targ made the decision a little easier as she has no noble family to at least make Viserys think twice.

Mysaria was already in a lower position and vulnerable bc she was not an aristocrat's daughter or of high enough rank, she was a sex worker, AND she was put into a worse position when Viserys wanted her gone and kings have ultimate authority. No. Daemon did not groom Laena. Daemon met and married Laena shortly after she turned 22-23. She's a grown woman who doesn't have a real care in the world by the time they get together or get to actually know each other.

For him to groom Laena, he had to be at Driftmark for an extended period when she was at her most emotionally/psychologically vulnerable. Where the hell is evidence that Laena was in such a state? The girl was living with her dragon, being a dragon rider and ignoring her Braavosi betrothed--in a word, relatively happy and content.

She was just attracted to Daemon and wanted her betrothed gone, come off it. Maybe you're thinking of HotD, where Laena is younger than Rhaenyra; in F&B, it's the reverse. Blame the TV writers for this change and hypocrisy. Either way, you are denying Laena's agency and the consent given there at the same time by claiming she was groomed or that a 23-year-old is child enough to be groomed.

His and Rhaenyra's relationship is much closer to the definition of grooming by how she was way under 18 when he was giving her gifts and attention after the 111 A.C. tourney. I don't totally knock you for thinking that, he definitely performed manipulation on young Rhaenyra and used her/their bond/her admiration for him. And yes, he is attracted to people of Valyrian descent and those who are dragonriders most of all.

However, I already explained how he didn't groom or was sexually attracted to Nettles in the links all the way above and I gave the link to darklina's "masterpost". And it's not because she is dark-skinned, (to Gyldayn) possibly not "sexually pure" or "ugly" by Westeodsi standards.

Once more, why did Maester Norren say: "I saw the joy go from his eyes, and a sadness descended upon him, like a weight too heavy to be borne." And right after that, Daemon say: "A queen’s words, a whore’s work."

Combine these two things, and we see that Daemon's expressing regret for Rhaenyra's believing in false words and deception, which more than likely means his sexual relationship with Nettle is itself a complete fabrication.

Just because it is Rhaenyra's fear (during a time she was at her most paranoid and afraid of losing more support, emotionally and politically), doesn't mean that it actually going on. That's a huge feature and consequence of paranoia. And suspicion or hatred. What this entire story was about the misogyny against Rhaneyra, the rumors against her sons and herself meant to harm her. What are "facts" in the hands of conspiring or fearful agents but dreams of envy?

You: "Rhaenyra committed to a life with Daemon, he said he was going to fight for her, and it turned into a war that killed all but one of her children (all six of whom she had before she was 30) and a rapidly decaying claim on the power she sacrificed so much for."

...and he did fight for her.

Instead of running off to god knows where he kills Aemond in a battle he cannot win alive AND he is the one who organized or led the murder/kidnapping of Aegon the Elder's son for Lucerys and Rhaenyra's pain. The last part was his way of advocating for her and Lucerys as well as an expression of his own pain. Was it morally wrong, yes? Was it still a reaction to Aemon's murdering Luke and the greens usurping Rhaenyra? Absolutely. Who is to blame for upending the entire kingdom for power & whose line is eradicated for it? The greens/Alicent.

He is the one who says that they shouldn't attack KL immediately in the book after Rhaenys suggests that, and he is the one to advise Rhaenyra to give Ulf/Hugh tracts of land and have them marry the Rosby and Stokeworth girls as rewards.

He's the one who captured Harrenhal for her took KL for her and made sure it was safe to land for her after he tricked Aemond and flew with Rhaenyrs to KL.

From beginning to end, he fought for Rhaenyra and NEVER tried to supersede her authority until she actually began to distrust his fidelity and devotion AND possibly try to have his bio daughter (or mentee/adopted daughter) killed., i.e. reject another of his kids after they have already cultivated a nontraditional family unit? Remember the Viserys forced him to give up his very first child-to-be...

Why are you blaming Rhaenyra's kids' deaths on Daemon of all people?! How the heck was Daemon supposed to magically prevent the greens from plotting behind closed doors or magically tape Alicent's mouth shut, trapping her in her room, etc.--bc you'd have to do that to get her away from Viserys and from influencing the entire court. Did you expect Daemon to fight all the political games for Rhaenyra? That was Rhaenyra's role and her thing for the most part, and why not?

Why would you want to take that way from her to make it "the man's" job, when it simply doesn't fit this guy. Because Daemon, as the man, is supposed to protect her from absolutely everything?! Let Rhaenyra have her agency, please, and recognize that Daemon absolutely supports her without trying to overpower her or make major decisions without her approval.

Finally, "sacrifice" entails that the person marches the victim to death knowing that they will die or be seriously harmed. Rhaenyra at no point was willing or expected to lose any of her kids or pass them in exchange for power. Time and time again, she expressly forbade them from being put in danger, esp after Luyke's unexpected death. The first time leads into what I mentioned above about Daemon saying that the black council needs to form a plan without sending dragon riders to KL to burn it down and the last was when her youngest Velaryon boy Joffrey wanted to go to the Dragonpit to save all their dragons.

No, Rhaenyra's sons were taken from her at her and the blacks' unguarded moments, circumstances where they thought they were safer (Luke was going as an envoy, should have been protected, everyone expected so; Jacaerys died trying to bring his younger brother back and so soon after he had just got the dragon seeds; Joffey sneaked out to ride Syrax not knowing he shouldn't have). Another pattern.

[EDIT (12/20/23)]: I think ] You know, I finally sensed the pattern: you hate Daemon bc you think he failed at being the ultra-protective man's man and making sure he stayed your idea of the ideal family man-warrior. And Daemon should what? Travel back to KL to hold her tight & reassure her, when he's on a mission to kill Aemond and ensure Rhaenyra's win? Possibly lose the opp to kill Aemond in his departure?

Isn't that also "treasonous", to abandon your own mission? Again, he died killing the guy who presented one of the biggest obstacles to his wife. What are we saying here? Where are our prioirites or knowledge of the pressures of possible treason, a continuous motif in this story?!

After listing all the problems and challenges Rhaenyra still has after taking KL--one of them being Aemond in the riverlands--this is how he gets to go out with Nettles "Rhaenyra Triumphant":

All the language directs us to see that Rhaenyra is the one to send Daemon out with Nettles to defeat Aemond. Because she was the one giving approval and permission on how to deal with Aemond, Aegon, Storm's end, and all the traitors around her. "Queen Rhaenyra was adamant". It all suggests that this talk occurred in a council meeting. Especially after this, we learn that Alicent heard of Rhaneyra's decision to execute and kill her sons and thus went directly to her to negotiate for their lives. To Rhaenyra.

You: "...and she cannot deal with it, so she just decides to blame Nettles and try to get her killed. She literally cannot believe that her husband would do this to her, it has to be 16 year-old Nettles’ fault, the slut, the tramp, the temptress who led her man astray".

...Saying that misogynoir/blood purity totally comes from grief and paranoia is ridiculous. The paranoia makes her default to this and relies on it, but it doesn't inspire its very existence.

Racism makes you hostile to vulnerable groups and individuals, blaming them for stuff not their fault whatsoever because it reaffirms a sense of privilege, power, and control when they lose things on account of another trait (gender, poverty, instead of race: white poor people are not criminalized/animalized like black "mid-class" or poor people, so poor white people have a sort of "fallback" and expectation of privilege that makes them even more susceptible to rich Republican politicians...it is still a privilege).

Why are we letting Rhaenyra off the hook for her going after Nettles even with her grief? This is where I can't say she was not accountable or that she had a justified excuse. Nettles nor what happens to her should be brushed aside for Rhaenyra's pain, bc Nettles definitely did nothing for her to almost become a victim of Mysaria or Rhaenyra's actions/envy/suspicion.

I am not saying that Rhaenyra didn't have her troubles or that she wasn't plotted against nearly from preteen-hood (I argued that her grief and paranoia are built from these very things multiple times). However, the thing about Rhaenyra's grief is that while it's understandable, we know where it comes from, and it thematically shares some elements as Othello's fears and envy, in the narrative's bones & direction there are inevitable consequences to a distrusting/trusting certain folk (Daemon and Desdemona; Mysaria and Iago) around you or at least thinking your way through solutions in the purely mechanical sense. That is what is tragic about it--the paradoxical nuanced yet simple kind.

Achilles didn't know Patrocles would go out in his armor and run towards Hector, but that's what happened and he lost his best friend/lover after he refused to fight for the Greeks in his own prideful, semi-understandable rage against Agamemnon. Antigone buries her relatives despite clear instructions from her superior's orders not to because she thinks it is the only moral thing to do and still loses her life (she was right, too). Compelling stories are those that present us with existential, self-conflicting stories like these where characters struggle to make decisions/advocate for themselves/a particular philosophy/ideology without having critical information, abilities, or resources--whether or not it's their fault or not or being at the right place at the necessary time. There are consequences for one's actions no matter what.

No, race doesn't exist in the exact same way in ASoIaF world as in the real modern world, but we absolutely know that Rhaenyra's publicized reasons for executing Nettles have a lot to do with using the "darker=less attractive and yet also alluring-b/c-so-"different"-so-maybe-witchcraft" ideology that moves white Europeans and white American societies towards developing the Jezebel stereotype. Which is a racial phenomenon and should be treated as such, instead of going in bad faith.

my (super)ordinary life!

as some might know its about two college boys renting an apartment together(by chance) and dealing with the ghost of a Victorian boy who was murdered by his nanny. the story follows the protagonist Xavier who is a "realist" and skeptic and doesnt believe in ghosts at all. his roommate on the other hand dallas is a firm believer and a medium. the little Victorian kid Arch whos trying to get the attention of xavier due to him looking so much like his best friend in life falls short in doing so through little antics. The two go through college with unexplainable things happening(well dallas tries to tell xavier its the ghost with xavier not believing him) until xavier has enough of bad things happening and finally folds and lets dallas do whatever he needed. they go through alot to finally talk to arch(buying equipment is hard when your in college) and THEN try to solve the mystery of who killed arch, to let him feel at peace and not restless anymore

Government kids??? no name yet- haeaawdjhnThree kids (17 yr old girl, 14 yr old boy and 10 yr old boy) who are all siblings to this last group of people with magical powers end up loosing their parents due to the new government that was implemented recently. But the world for like more then a hundred years now have passed their reign over magic. now magic is only within their brightly colored hair and eyes(bald ppl dont exist). Along with some people having animalistic qualities and other- fanstay qualities. they are still so very human in the aspects of no one has magical powers but they have some extra points towards things like strength if they were a werewolf or something. (they dont change under a full moon they are stuck in the half furry state). anyways. the three kids end up trying to not get captured by the government running all over the place. they go to highschool for a time, then make friends and go to the friends house. a friend dies. some within family drama happens and the oldest sibling fights with the middle child. the oldest gets captured first. the two other siblings go with their owl caretaker(who barely shows up within the story). the youngest seems not to happy with this and escapes to a village somehow untouched by the government and learn about his herritage(somewhat hes like 10). oldest goes through hell to escape and find the middle child and the youngest. turns out hte owl turned the middle kid into the government and winter finding out oliver isnt with the middle she saves the middle and then says a brisk apology as she is on the hunt to find her baby brother. tension between winter and rodger rise but winter is preoccupied with saving oliver. oliver makes frineds with this young girl and her dad and those two help oliver go into the biggest city to try and find winter and rodger. winter and rodger are one step behind as they get into the village. rodger finds out about their family but winter couldnt care less as she is tiredlessly trying to find oliver. its way to much i know and i left out funny goofy government villans that are clear ripoffs of team rocket but in my own funny way...

Super hero esk story?? idk i called it Switcheroo but thats kinda silly.the protagonist is the top villan's son who goes into the top hero school. (the mom sees how influcened he is to do crime but wants the best life for him. she wants him to choose after also being influenced by what their society deems as noble and good) Zero(protag) dorms with a girl(filing mess up) who is the daughter of number 1 heroic(hero system is different here too) bull's eye. on the news they find out the 3rd heroic on the ranking chart gets kidnapped by zero's mom??? and zero goes to talk with her about it as hes grown attached to the girl he dorms with and saw how upset she'd become. the mom denies it and says this was all a publicity stunt from bull's eye to gain more money and fame. zero says to out them. the mom cant. because no one will ever trust the villains. even if they did what would it do. strike fear into people that even hero's are corrupt and evil will always win? they needed to do something. zero tried to tell the girl but she couldnt believe him. they have a fight. zero ends up trying to do everything in his power to make it up to her. humiliating himself infront of the whole school(but he doesnt care). she accepts his apology and makes sure he isnt injured. he does get in trouble but thats not the point. she hears him out and admits to things shes seen as a kid ever since her parents divorced due to money problems. the premise is they have to take down the two top heroics from inside their ogranization or making them quit by them messing up every save. The Moon's craters

a bunch of billionares go to the moon(or a planet that looks like the moon whatever man) and colonize there. hundreds of years pass and the world is sci-fi and dystopian esk?? the poor live in slums and the rich live near the sky!. people who live on the moon have adapted to look different. and the story follows one poor boy on the moon. hes loved the moon but hated the system. classic. so one day he sneaks on a ship that travel's to earth. there he's traversing through earth to see if it was better then the moon. in fact it is not. its more- kingdom esk?? ever since a war that happened long ago.(they still have tech and use alot of it they just enjoy the structural build of kingdoms) protag finds a prince(after getting a job as a servant) and tells him about the moon and stuff. the prince is grossed out but interested in the rich people's fashion sense and taste. he agrees to go with. he litterally just runs away with like a shit ton of money and buys himself a ticket to the moon. goes to the moon they find out theres a war gonna happen cause they cauiught the protag "kidnapping" a prince??? protag is wanted. best friend sidekick doesnt give a fuck????:? so they get a trip to a different planet to escape it all. find out they are super underdeveloped and the moon have been taking that planet's orphans for testing!>?!?>! they rescue one orphan from a new shipment of orphans about to be sent out. this follows like a ground of people going about space. spaceboots SB(hes got big ass boots), SpaceGloves SG(shes got big ass gloves), Chat(robot guy who talks like zane from lego ninjao but has the brain compacity of a twitch chat), Hat(he wears hats idfk), Shirt(wears beeeeeeg shirt. the hyper cute person of the group).
