what's weird about the fantasy high drama is that like. it seems to me like people forget d&d is primarily a) a game you play with your friends and also b) luck based.

I mean it's fine to say that "nothing felt like a challenge" and "they just dominated everything and there weren't any stakes" but like. it's not as if they weren't up against huge threats. they lost the mall fight. the last stand was an onslaught of enemies. they fought a dozen dragons from an airship. the fights were hard. they're just really good. they've had very good dice luck in general this season and are all very high level and highly specialized. fig is gonna beat deception and performance checks. adaine's gonna figure out the arcana. riz is gonna succeed investigations. like. for some reason their strategical competence and wisely picked abilities are. a downside? a disappointment?

the thing about d&d that you need to remember is it's first and foremost a game. it's mostly random and it takes you down weird paths and you're playing to have fun with your friends. the dice are literally telling the story that it's their time, it's their year. they've struggled enough. they've trained enough. they're good at what they do. and in my post about the academic/domestic/personal stressors being the focus, d&d doesn't have any other system to work them out than rolling different skills. that's what d&d is. brennan set specific challenge levels for different tasks and the players strategized to prioritize which abilities they were strongest in. the challenges were there. and the players rose to them. they were both smart in their delegation of responsibilities and lucky with their dice rolls. of which, both are foundations of d&d.

don't mistake them being good players and getting lucky with there being no hardship. just because they smashed through the wall, that doesn't mean the wall wasn't strong. they were just stronger.

I'm at "can knit, but requires lots of focus". I've been knitting for like 6 or 7 years at least now, I just can't remember sequences in my head, so the overwhelming majority of my knitting is plain stockinette, lol.

i love sincerely love working with dungeon meshi's magic system and the way mana sickness is depicted, like it has the breadth and scope for some truly powerful and wacky fun shit, but you can also easily bring down the hammer when you want to put the characters in difficult situations they can't get out of without a little creativity. i found when writing for baldur's gate 3 that, unless i was in a modified setting, i was hard-pressed thinking up fun ways for characters to solve their problems without just using magic, especially for the small things. i mean, what fun is throwing a character into a river and needing to warm them up when you can just cast prestidigitation?? it's one of the first things a novice can learn and also it's a cantrip, it literally costs nothing!

i really dont understand studying at all like genuinely i don't know what it is . i know about "taking notes" and "reading the textbook" and that's it . quizlet doesn't do shit for me because i don't know what to. do. with the cards. look at them ? am i supposed to just look at them . its not that i dont hate the specific ship or think its inessential to anyone involved, i like the vault as an episode a lot but its hard for me to really formulate shoko as an individualized character because… thats literally finn. shes had her own plotline but the whole thing with her boils down to finn having to close the case on a centuries-old matter since its telling that its spiritually etched onto bonnie on how finn will always come back to her in any way that greatly merits her (and somehow im crazy for caring that much). the issue is that i learned i just cant really do with characters that dont consistently move the plot forward in shows with a narrative like at’s.

dont take this as hate if you find it, i greatly sympathize with shoko and find it distressing how she could never really solve any of her problems, especially hers with bonnies during the last minutes of her life. maybe thats what influenced bubbline

Hello hello again! Anon is back for more MCC Time Warp because I am enjoying the topic.

Mostly because I'm looking at the list of participants and seeing bb fWhip and knowing that oh that could be chaos with bb Grian if they're left without a babysitter. Am picturing lil Solidarity going 'wait you grew up where? we're going to do normal childhood things' and enlisting lil fWhip's help, and then immediately regretting everything.

This ask has been marinating because I really wanted to watch Fwhip to give like - a proper headcanon on it or write a short bit or something but I never got around to it and considering ive had TV shows and the such on my watch list for 4 years despite having plenty of time, I should just. I am aware at the least that Fwhip covering his face is out of character but I really didn't want to imagine Fwhip with a beard. It would have been incredibly cursed, but when you said "immediately regrets everything" I could only imagine a fire, caused by Fwhip being. Fwhip, Grian just assuming that the fire would die out within a minute or two and then it didn't, and Solidarity panicking and escalating the entire situation. Smajor came around to check on them considering Solidarity snuck out from the clinic and I Totally Didn't Forget Why Jimmy Was In There And Didn't Want To Deal With It and came across three teenagers acting like incompetent Sims.

Afterwards maybe Scott would have lead the three over to the Ace Race clouds map because to me it's always looked like a cool place to splash around with all the water and such, as long as you avoid falling to the void there's not *too* much you can actually get hurt with in the water areas.
