Just read the update and I’ll go more in depth in my ao3 comment after my second read but OHMYGOD IM SO IN LOVE the team taking her out to eat after her acceptance to uni was so sweet I love them so much. Tendo knowing when to call her with his guess magic or whatever was cute. Goshiki was a cutie as usual but his little speech was just adorable.

Now my main event. The loml. My absolute sweetest pookie. My ushiwaka. I’m so happy they got their little moment. The way they could communicate with their double meanings was so sweet.

I’m so excited for the last chapter but it’s gonna be so bittersweet. I can’t believe it’s almost over and that I’ve been here since practically the beginning

hi guys on today's episode of "vi can't be normal about one piece" we are talking about the insane parallels between zeff and sanji and luffy

guys. guys this is happening exactly as both zeff and (adult) sanji give up on their dream. zeff is at this point all but given up on the all blue and sanji now has resigned himself to the fact that he has to die to save the crew.

enter: the ones that fight for their dreams kicking screaming. stubborn and relentless.

look at this scene. this fucking scene. the blood in sanji's face and how stubborn he is about not giving up on his dream. he will not let it end here. he will weave the strings of fate himself if he has to. he will drag himself through hell. he will not give up. it doesn't end here.

this is so fucked up. luffy is fighting for his dream when he has given up on it. he is thinking "sanji can't be strong for himself now, so i will be strong for him. i will save him. from everyone waiting to harm him and from himself." sanji has buried the kid in him that longs to find the all blue and here we see luffy dig the ground the child lies in with bare hands. he will not let it end. not here. not now.

this is what kept him alive. zeff's sacrifice. zeff's gamble and belief that this kid that he doesn't even know will find the all blue. that he will do what he couldn't. now what makes this scene so important is the two ways this can be seen. in zeff's eyes, it's his choice. he chose to save sanji with no prior knowledge about anything about him because whatever he saw in sanji at that moment in the ship, he wanted to keep alive. it is an ultimately selfish motive. is it kind? yes, definitely. but it's not selfless. the other way you can see this through sanji's eyes. sanji, who has been told all he is is a burden and that his life is worthless is now being kept alive by a man who he doesn't even know. he has thrown his life away for sanji. sanji looks at it like this: "zeff is a kind man. he helped me because he couldn't let a child starve. what he did for me is an obligation where he was forced into a corner." sanji interprets this as an altruistic action and that he is now indebted to him forever.

luffy didn't sacrifice a leg for sanji, but he was ready to die. he KNEW he wouldn't, though. because he knows sanji and his bleeding heart and his love. once again, sanji and his dream is saved by another person starving for him. the main thing that distinguishes this scene from the zeff one is that this was a choice, without doubt. luffy KNOWS sanji. he has seen the ugliest parts of sanji and he still loves him. he is ready to give up his life for sanji with no ulterior motive. he doesn't want sanji to carry on his dream or do anything for him. he knows what sanji wants, but after this scene, he still asks. "what does sanji want?" he pulls the truth out of the hollows of his chest. he doesn't flinch at what he sees there. he sees sanji's hunger, want and kindness so vast that it can even be considered naive. he doesn't flinch. he simply smiles.

another Dragon Age fic was recently outed as being AI, and this is what the writer had to say for themselves about it:

so actually, Grammarly uses generative AI and is just as bad as ChatGPT. it also objectively makes your writing worse, it sucks the voice out of your prose and turns it into corporate sounding homogenized paste. it's also unethical for all the same reasons any generative AI is unethical. get a writing group and have a real human beta read for you if you don't trust yourself to check your own grammar etc. but honestly something unpolished and written entirely by your human brain and human imagination will ALWAYS be better than AI slop.

also, the part about published authors doing this is patently untrue. i know this is a huge problem in the self-publishing space, but most publishers now are including clauses in their contracts that expressly forbid the use of AI in ANY part of the creative process. this includes using ChatGPT to generate or clean up outlines or Grammarly to spellcheck and revise. so if you're trying to publish, don't fucking do this or you could literally be asked to return an advance if you get caught.

i've posted about this in the past, but AI detectors are actually shocking accurate these days. i've tested them extensively recently and they can consistently and correctly flag individual sentences written by ChatGPT in an otherwise original passage. and they almost never flag false positives. so the argument that AI detectors can't be trusted is just flat out wrong. are they correct 100% of the time? no. but can they indicate with a high degree of accuracy if AI was used in some capacity? absolutely, especially if there is additional evidence.

and for all the people hand wringing about AI detectors flagging false positives, let me just say this: if something is not AI written it is very easy to prove. you can't write anything of any considerable length without leaving a massive paper trail of notes and drafts. almost all writing software tracks changes and makes it very easy to prove you wrote something yourself. being falsely being accused of AI isn't actually a real problem and is only being made to seem as such by people who are trying to get away with and justify using AI or who are worried about getting caught.

i think a lot of people are just lured by a seemingly easy shortcut, and to their untrained eye, what the AI is spitting out feels "better" to them than their own writing. but i promise you it's not. trust your own brain and put in the work to improve at your craft rather than outsourcing the gift of your imagination to a robot that steals from other people's work.

all of your siblings were born with something, something physical in their hands. for most, it was some trinket or bobble made of mechanical parts, etched with peculiar runes- your sister, Mamere, had a token that could repair her clockwork pup companion, and the same goes for the other Melusine. although, nobody's tried to use theirs to fix the clockwork soldiers. better leave delicate work to the professionals. when you first awoke, you wondered if your rebirth was just a dream, or if you really deserved it at all. the inhabitants of Teyvat all thought you were a liar, and imposter. clearly, you must have done something to attract their ire. something terrible and awful that you can't remember anymore

but the others meet your words with a chorus of protest, shaking their hands and insistently pointing at the token in your hand. it's a sign, they tell you, that you're a Melusine, good and true

and there is a trinket in your hands, an elegant thing made of swirling metal and filigree. it forms three points- the triquetra you've seen so often around this new world- one for each Moon Sister of the ancient past. in the center is a twinkling star shape with four points that glows faintly in the dark, shimmering with subtle iridescent colors. your siblings crowd around you, oohing and aahing at your unique token. it can't be used to fix any meka, but it lights the way in the darkest of nights, throwing shining bits around like a refracted prism. yes, you must be a Melusine, it's concluded with a firm nod. who else would be given such a lovely light, glowing much like the creatures of the Primordial Sea?

If anyone's going to gaslight and manipulate you into having children, it's all of Harveston. ;;;;; and most of them do it unintentionally. They just think it's so darling Epel has a best friend (read: wifey) like you who is the sweetest thing they've ever met. You and Epel make such a cute couple (of hopefully expecting parents). All of Harveston dotes on you, showering you with affection every time you visit. You're practically part of the village by now. Whenever you come to visit, whether for a holiday or a break, Marja always welcomes you with open arms, as does the rest of Epel's family. But it's Marja who is especially pleased to see you. She checks you over, asks if you've been eating well at NRC, asks if Epel's been looking out for and taking care of you, and so on.

I feel like the entire village would throw such a huge celebration when you finally become pregnant. They make such an event out of it; it startles you at first, but Epel explains this is just because there are so few children around and everyone, especially the elders, are so very excited to finally see the village grow and become more lively with young folks! You'll have everyone's full support before, during, and after your pregnancy! They are just so fond of you and are always encouraging you to eat lots (of foods that improve fertility, but you don't need to know that...).

Sorry if this is a bad hour but I have a question. Is there any part of StP you think is genuinely bad?

No worries! I usually respond to asks when I have time/when I'm in the mood to talk anyways, so it's never a bad time to send an ask!

In general, I don't think I really feel comfortable with saying any parts of StP are genuinely bad, per se, because the game is just so expertly crafted and means so much to me personally that I'd be lying if I said I'm not biased to it. And also I'm no media expert, I'm not even that great at media analysis either, so I generally tend to be quite reserved with judgements; there is no way I could, in good conscience, say that any parts of StP are objectively bad or anything like that.

What I can share, though, are my personal dislikes about the game and its writing. There aren't a lot of them, and of course, the positives far, far outweigh the negatives (I wouldn't be here if they didn't), but I still have a couple of issues with the game, and I want to talk about one:

Happily Ever After lets the Long Quiet, or rather, you, the player, get away with too much.

Now for full context, Happily Ever After is one of my favorite chapters in the whole game. It is deeply personal to me, and I resonate with it on a very strong level; it emotionally devastated me, in the best way possible, when I played it for the first time (Paranoid variant), and this chapter holds a very special place in my heart.

...that being said, I dislike the fact that the game never acknowledges that it's your fault that everyone is miserable and stuck in the cabin. You made the decision to stay in the cabin, but the game never calls you out on that, never forcing you to acknowledge that you did this. It weakens the ending of the chapter for me, especially with the princess asking "Do you... still care about me?"... I know the game gives you a lot of options in that moment, a lot of which are written well, but the option to say "Of course I do" just feels so off and so hollow to me, and I can't seem to verbalize it quite well, but it really annoys me.

In general, the ending is very sweet, but in my opinion, it doesn't feel that earned, precisely because the game never acknowledges your fault and never lets you to truly apologize for it, to feel remorseful for it, to earn that moment of dancing under the stars. Though, I do very much like that scene from the princess's perspective, as I've rambled about in tags of this post, as this symbolic moment of her finally getting her wish fulfilled after being denied and denied and denied for so long.

I'm sure I'm not expressing my thoughts very clearly, and I apologize for that, I just feel quite passionate about HEA because it really did impact me so much, and so these personal dislikes about the chapter irk me because it feels like a missed potential to me, on an already such a great chapter. If it affected me this much and this deeply when, in my opinion, it has a pretty major flaw in its story... I can't help but imagine how much more powerful it would've been without said flaws.

Though like I said in the other post, even with those problems, I adore this chapter a lot. And this kind of extends to the whole game too, whatever issues I might have with the game, those all pale in comparison to just how many things the game did right, and just how much this game has impacted me, and just how much I love and adore this game, and just how much this game has changed my life. Thank you, Slay the Princess, thank you, Black Tabby Games, and thank you, Slay the Princess community, all for being so wonderful <3

Neuvillette recommends facing them only when you're ready, bit by bit, so you don't get overwhelmed- healing is a slow process, after all, both physically and mentally. vaguely you remember that Foul Legacy does have a human form, back when Teyvat was just a bundle of pixels on a screen, but you don't pay much thought to it, not when you have a wonderful Abyssal friend already here with you. it's only when his latest trip to the outside world goes several days over that you begin to worry, nervously skipping and pacing back and forth in front of your little shell cottage as you wait

you don't dare venture out of Merusea, but you're brave enough to check with Cosanzeana every day, and today, she's not alone, instead talking to a human with bright ginger hair and blue eyes as lightless as the deep sea

fear grips your heart as you scramble backwards, two pairs of eyes landing on your trembling form, the faint, glittery markings on your arms and legs and torso aching when you catch a glimpse of a Hydro Vision. but the human holds up his hands, an expression of concern written all over his strangely familiar face as Cosanzeana attempts to calm you

"Hey, hey, it's me! Foul Legacy!"

you pause, calming just enough to carefully examine him, the coppery hair and blue eyes and many, many freckles oh- oh! Ajax! Foul Legacy's human self! your antennae perk up as you run to him, tail waving as you curiously examine him from all angles, his gray Fatui uniform faintly familiar. Ajax grins as you shake his hand the same way you did for Foul Legacy, calling all your siblings over to meet him. soon he's completely surrounded by a crowd of curious Melusine, chatter filling the village. you have another friend- or is he the same friend, only different? he has a Vision, like their sister Sigewinne! is he going to stay? Ajax laughs, patting your head like Foul Legacy does and apologizing for being gone so long, the exhaustion of his previous mission sapping away the energy he needs to transform into Legacy. but you don't mind, he's still your friend! and you can hold hands with him much easier now, if you're both on your feet!
